- 0:00Speaker 1: Do you like my crystals? They're very nice. I thought
- 0:03Speaker 1: they were. I thought it was a pearl necklace. I'm
- 0:04Speaker 1: not gonna lie. You thought someone gave me a pie.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Do you mean the literal pearl necklace or the sexual
- 0:12Speaker 1: in sexual pro necklace. No, obviously a literal pearl necklace.
- 0:16Speaker 1: It doesn't look like the sexual pearl necklace sexual pearl necklace.
- 0:20Speaker 1: The sexual pearl necklace looks more like ropes one. Have
- 0:24Speaker 1: you ever given a pearl necklace of any Have you
- 0:26Speaker 1: ever given either? Kind of Sorry, I think we should
- 0:29Speaker 1: go around the room. Let's go around the room. Received.
- 0:36Speaker 1: I don't think you can ask them. These two are
- 0:38Speaker 1: our quote unquote um workplace friends. But indeed, but we
- 0:43Speaker 1: can ask each other. It goes like you and I
- 0:48Speaker 1: can ask each other, But the minute it goes into
- 0:52Speaker 1: the other people that are on, I feel like I
- 0:56Speaker 1: feel like a I heart harmy. Like you can't ask
- 0:59Speaker 1: Danlon Joel if they've given or received well, I can't
- 1:02Speaker 1: give can you imagine that? Call? Hey, guys, it's not
- 1:11Speaker 1: show shows great by the way, M one one one
- 1:18Speaker 1: one one. You can't ask Danil and Joel if they've
- 1:23Speaker 1: received pro necklak. Yeah, this show just started. It just started.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Did you have fun doing our live show? I had
- 1:33Speaker 1: a great time doing a live show. I'm not gonna
- 1:35Speaker 1: lie to you. I was nervous. I was like, how
- 1:39Speaker 1: are we going to top the last one? Zach's talking
- 1:42Speaker 1: about all of these freaking secret guests. I know one
- 1:47Speaker 1: of them is gonna be Bill. I'm hoping, like I
- 1:50Speaker 1: was thinking, it was gonna be like Bill, Krista and Sarah.
- 1:55Speaker 1: But Roma, that's would have had Sarah too. Listeners, just
- 2:02Speaker 1: so you know, and those of you who watched it,
- 2:04Speaker 1: but she was shooting her new fancy show and Lane
- 2:09Speaker 1: and Michael Spiller was directing her, so there you go.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Oh so Mike Spiller wouldn't let her out. He actually
- 2:14Speaker 1: texted me He's like, sorry, I can't get you Sarah.
- 2:17Speaker 1: I'm like, you, dick. That's a dickhead move, Mike. But anyway, listen, um,
- 2:23Speaker 1: were you until Bill fucking ruined it? Were you surprised
- 2:25Speaker 1: about Alma? I was so surprised about Alma. And even
- 2:28Speaker 1: when Bill ruined it, that shit was funny, man, she
- 2:31Speaker 1: was so funny. I didn't realize she was gonna be
- 2:33Speaker 1: so sassy. She was. I know, the characters sassy, but
- 2:36Speaker 1: Alma was sassy. She was sassy. I think there was
- 2:39Speaker 1: a little bit of pin pent up anger for the
- 2:42Speaker 1: you know, she was like, I bought an escalade, was
- 2:46Speaker 1: thinking about her escalade. She I assumed she leased it
- 2:49Speaker 1: and then she just had to turn in the least
- 2:50Speaker 1: or something that sucks. I felt bad about that. I
- 2:52Speaker 1: wouldn't tell that story, but Bill, maybe tell that story.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Girl was like, tell the story for you guys who
- 2:58Speaker 1: were wondering. You'll have to watch watch the live show
- 3:01Speaker 1: and listen. Well, they can listen. By the time this aeras,
- 3:04Speaker 1: they won't be able to watch anyone. That's right, you
- 3:06Speaker 1: can listen. Um wait a second, um, Aloma. Yeah, she
- 3:10Speaker 1: did have some pent up hostility about being killed. Yeah,
- 3:15Speaker 1: there was a little bit of But then she did
- 3:17Speaker 1: say bad. She did say Bill, thanks for my retirement.
- 3:20Speaker 1: That was nice. Well, yeah, it was a great I
- 3:22Speaker 1: mean she was on four. Did she do nine seasons
- 3:26Speaker 1: or did she just do the eight? Like who went
- 3:28Speaker 1: on to do the ninth? I don't know, goes there.
- 3:30Speaker 1: I wasn't there. It was Rob on that season. I
- 3:32Speaker 1: don't know, dude, I don't remember the ninth season. I
- 3:35Speaker 1: really don't. Joel can you look that up? Did Aloma
- 3:38Speaker 1: and Rob did season nine? I don't remember, would you
- 3:40Speaker 1: take I'm sure Rob was there? Rob. Rob wasn't gonna
- 3:43Speaker 1: be like, sorry, I'm moving on. No, didn't Rob go
- 3:46Speaker 1: on to do it? He was doing soaps at that time,
- 3:47Speaker 1: wasn't he Wasn't he doing soaps at the same time
- 3:49Speaker 1: of season nine? No? Yeah he was. Yeah, ask Bill?
- 3:54Speaker 1: This is to ask Bill. Question Bill. We could ask
- 3:56Speaker 1: Joel to Google. But okay, Bill, and how about as
- 4:00Speaker 1: takes forever and then never fucking replies he's this is
- 4:05Speaker 1: Daniel has to track him down for months often I do, Hey, Daniel,
- 4:10Speaker 1: can we hook up a thing where we can call
- 4:12Speaker 1: Rob like live during the show. I feel like he would.
- 4:16Speaker 1: I feel like he would answer the phone and we
- 4:18Speaker 1: could ask him questions. Yes, we could. If somebody wants
- 4:23Speaker 1: to hook their phone up to their zoom so we
- 4:27Speaker 1: can send We can certainly sort you out some equipment.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Can you send me the gear that would enable me
- 4:32Speaker 1: to do that? Because I think it would be funny, Like,
- 4:34Speaker 1: let's just randomly call Rob and see what he's doing.
- 4:36Speaker 1: We could randomly call Bill or randomly can Yeah, we
- 4:40Speaker 1: could randomly call people. Yeah, I think it was a
- 4:43Speaker 1: nice new features. We've got a new feature coming. It's
- 4:50Speaker 1: called Into what You're Trying to Do and the random call. Anyway,
- 4:57Speaker 1: these my friend has a crystal company. Then I'm on
- 4:59Speaker 1: a shout out because solely because she sent me lots
- 5:02Speaker 1: of free crystals. H vibes dot store es just like
- 5:09Speaker 1: vibes the word vibes dot store if you're into crystals
- 5:12Speaker 1: and crystal stuff. So I don't know anything about the
- 5:14Speaker 1: power of crystals, but she said, if I wear this
- 5:17Speaker 1: long what Donald called pearl necklace, it's not They're clear,
- 5:20Speaker 1: they're not pearl colored. And she would tell you exactly,
- 5:23Speaker 1: it ain't have enough protein in it. Oh my god.
- 5:27Speaker 1: And she also sent me these two where I've had
- 5:29Speaker 1: them all on all day. How do you feel? I
- 5:34Speaker 1: felt good? And then Florence FaceTime and she's like, why
- 5:36Speaker 1: are you wearing all of those beads? And then I
- 5:38Speaker 1: felt less. I felt like a topless girl at Mariti Gras.
- 5:45Speaker 1: But you know what I was feeling a little. I
- 5:47Speaker 1: was feeling stressed, and I was like, you know what,
- 5:49Speaker 1: I don't even know if any of this ship works,
- 5:50Speaker 1: but I'm gonna just put them all on and see
- 5:51Speaker 1: what happens. D Well, do you believe in crystals? Uh? Yeah,
- 5:55Speaker 1: I have many of them. They're all over the place
- 5:58Speaker 1: in my room. I like holding. Weird story, my grandpa
- 6:01Speaker 1: died holding like he had this worry stone. He called it.
- 6:04Speaker 1: He's constantly like he was said or whatever. He would
- 6:06Speaker 1: just rub it. Uh. He died a plane crash he
- 6:08Speaker 1: was holding it. So I had to learn that and
- 6:10Speaker 1: that sort of started my love of like different rocks
- 6:12Speaker 1: and crystals and gems and stuff. Wow, well, I'm open
- 6:16Speaker 1: to it, especially when my friend sent me a box
- 6:18Speaker 1: full of different stuff. There's even a straw, right, a
- 6:21Speaker 1: metal straw with a crystal on around the bottom of it,
- 6:25Speaker 1: and you put it in your drinks and you're whatever
- 6:28Speaker 1: you're drinking gets the magic from the crystal cool. You
- 6:34Speaker 1: know it sounds you know what it sounds like to me?
- 6:37Speaker 1: What a little I thought you were going to go
- 6:49Speaker 1: to A superman goes to his weird said, the Fortress
- 6:53Speaker 1: of Solitude. That's another uncomfortable place. But the way here's
- 6:56Speaker 1: my memory. Not if you don't feel well, hold on
- 6:58Speaker 1: if you don't. Here's the thing. Now, do you know
- 7:03Speaker 1: what a papasan chair is? No? No. All right, Well,
- 7:06Speaker 1: if you're listening and you're curious, Google of Papaisan chair.
- 7:09Speaker 1: They were very popular. They sold him at like you
- 7:12Speaker 1: know those stores that sell international World market kind of thing.
- 7:16Speaker 1: It's like a big bowl, wooden bowl with a cushion
- 7:20Speaker 1: in the wooden bowl and you could move it around
- 7:22Speaker 1: different shapes. Oh yeah, can you picture what I'm talking about? Yes, okay,
- 7:27Speaker 1: we had one as a child, and as a little kid,
- 7:29Speaker 1: I thought it was the coolest thing, and we played
- 7:30Speaker 1: it pretend it was a spaceship, the whole thing. So
- 7:32Speaker 1: I see Fortress of Solitude, and I'm like, I remember
- 7:36Speaker 1: thinking as a kid like this looks cold and not cozy.
- 7:41Speaker 1: And then he's hooking up with what's her name and
- 7:44Speaker 1: he's in basically a Papasan chair with satin sheets. He
- 7:51Speaker 1: bangs Lois, Yes, in a satin sheet covered Popasan chair.
- 7:55Speaker 1: But after he lost his powers, Really he isn't have
- 7:59Speaker 1: his powers on. There's no way he could have sex
- 8:01Speaker 1: with her with his flowers. Why he'd shoot her across
- 8:03Speaker 1: the room. He'd kill her. Wait is that a thing? Really?
- 8:09Speaker 1: Come on? Man, he's a super human alien. So I
- 8:12Speaker 1: don't watch any of these super Henry Cavill doesn't ever
- 8:15Speaker 1: have sex. Uh not yet they've had sex from what
- 8:20Speaker 1: I understand, but I imagine he has to take it
- 8:23Speaker 1: really really easy. Yeah, like it wouldn't be like sex
- 8:28Speaker 1: with another Kryptonian, like I bet I imagine with another
- 8:31Speaker 1: Kryptonian it's like thunderclapping, boom every time, boom, right, just
- 8:40Speaker 1: a Superman coming and then Lois Lois fly by, and
- 8:53Speaker 1: then Lois's vagina is like, you honor me, you honor me?
- 9:01Speaker 1: Oh my goodness. On that note, bop six severday about
- 9:08Speaker 1: show we made about a bunch of doctor nurses and stories.
- 9:20Speaker 1: So yadoo around here, yadoo around here. Oh man, I
- 9:31Speaker 1: always know I'm gonna laugh with you guys, even when
- 9:33Speaker 1: I'm racing to get here on time and I'm so
- 9:35Speaker 1: stressed about like, oh do I take enough notes? I
- 9:37Speaker 1: always know I'm gonna giggle with you fools. Where were
- 9:41Speaker 1: you today? I am was am was location scouting in
- 9:46Speaker 1: New Jersey for my new film Cool. Can I ask you? Okay,
- 9:49Speaker 1: So here's a question ahead, Donald Faz and I calling you.
- 9:52Speaker 1: So I start doing this this show, and I'm writing it,
- 9:58Speaker 1: I'm pretty much show running it and everything like that,
- 10:01Speaker 1: but now these auditions are coming up. Yeah, but I'm
- 10:04Speaker 1: doing so much. I'm focused so hard on the show
- 10:08Speaker 1: that it's like, wait, hold up, I don't necessarily have
- 10:11Speaker 1: time to focus on these lines like I wanted to.
- 10:14Speaker 1: That's you think that's ridiculous. You think it is Your
- 10:17Speaker 1: show is well, it will be success, I'm sure, because
- 10:20Speaker 1: you're so talented. But you you've got little mouths to
- 10:23Speaker 1: feed and acting as your specialty, and you gotta you
- 10:26Speaker 1: can't be phoning in these fucking auditions, right. It's hard
- 10:30Speaker 1: to find when your show running, it's hard to find
- 10:33Speaker 1: time to do it all at you know what I mean.
- 10:38Speaker 1: It's what I'm finding, and it's it's it's it's it's
- 10:42Speaker 1: very very difficult to juggle the schedule. I know, man,
- 10:46Speaker 1: I know, but that's what That's what happens when you
- 10:48Speaker 1: hustle at a high level. Bill Lawrence is like literally
- 10:52Speaker 1: running like four shows, right, It's insane. And he's got
- 10:56Speaker 1: three kids and a wife. Yeah that's tough. It's like,
- 11:01Speaker 1: that's that's the that's the thing. Now. It's like, all right,
- 11:04Speaker 1: I definitely want to still be a successful actor. I
- 11:08Speaker 1: definitely still want to put the work in that's needed
- 11:11Speaker 1: to do that. But I really want this show to
- 11:13Speaker 1: be successful and good. I really want people to enjoy it.
- 11:17Speaker 1: You know what I mean? You got to you gotta
- 11:18Speaker 1: practice your time management, because I'm telling you, I'm looking
- 11:21Speaker 1: at a lot of auditions right now for my film,
- 11:24Speaker 1: and if the person is not off book and not
- 11:26Speaker 1: memorized and not prepared, they can't possibly And this is
- 11:31Speaker 1: a lesson to you actors out there. I've said it before,
- 11:33Speaker 1: can't possibly compete with someone who's clearly worked on it
- 11:36Speaker 1: and clearly like we talk about Johnny Seas the extreme,
- 11:39Speaker 1: like hiring people to come in and fucking play all
- 11:41Speaker 1: they know their parts and putting on a metronoman. That's
- 11:43Speaker 1: like the most mega version I ever heard. But like
- 11:46Speaker 1: you see people that come in and there and you're
- 11:48Speaker 1: just like drop jawed at how much work they put in,
- 11:51Speaker 1: how much thought they put into it, how fucking off
- 11:53Speaker 1: book they are that they're feeling comfortable riffing. And then
- 11:56Speaker 1: there's other people holding lines like this and you're like, dude,
- 11:59Speaker 1: you can't possibly compete with the dude who just came
- 12:01Speaker 1: before you. No, there's no way, there's no way. And
- 12:05Speaker 1: so that's especially in the sorry. And the last thing
- 12:07Speaker 1: I'll say is, especially in this whole you know, audition
- 12:10Speaker 1: moved to to zoom world because it used to be
- 12:13Speaker 1: back in the day. You went in the room, you
- 12:15Speaker 1: you made him laugh, you bonded, you like had the
- 12:17Speaker 1: chit chat that could that if you're charming, like you
- 12:20Speaker 1: can buy you a lot of mileage. Maybe now now
- 12:23Speaker 1: it's now it's just zoom. It's like, hey, how are
- 12:25Speaker 1: you all right? Here we go right, that'sh It's so weird.
- 12:28Speaker 1: It's my first time doing as a director obviously, um
- 12:33Speaker 1: because the only other thing I made during the pandemic
- 12:35Speaker 1: with Solos and Anne Hathaway didn't exactly go audition and um,
- 12:39Speaker 1: she didn't have to know she was attached. And so
- 12:44Speaker 1: you know, I've never done this auditioning people over zoom before,
- 12:48Speaker 1: which is very odd. Of course the actors are used
- 12:50Speaker 1: to the whole rigamarole, but me as a as a filmmaker,
- 12:54Speaker 1: it's so it's such an odd experience. It's an odd
- 12:56Speaker 1: way to do it, right, Yeah, So that's that. That's
- 13:00Speaker 1: the thing. It's like, all right, how do I find
- 13:01Speaker 1: time to focus on the show to where I feel comfortable?
- 13:07Speaker 1: You know, I want to be like George Lucas when
- 13:09Speaker 1: when I attached this, but still being being holding myself
- 13:13Speaker 1: accountable enough too before I go to bed, making sure
- 13:16Speaker 1: I know my lines for the audition I have in
- 13:18Speaker 1: the upcoming days. Yeah, well that's I would say, don't
- 13:22Speaker 1: do it right when you're tired, because no one wants
- 13:23Speaker 1: to do shit when they're tired. I would say, like, set,
- 13:27Speaker 1: you know, you gotta look at your week. You know,
- 13:29Speaker 1: I think paper calendars are really helpful for some people.
- 13:32Speaker 1: They certainly are for me. I like to look at
- 13:33Speaker 1: a big ass calendar of the week or the month,
- 13:36Speaker 1: and you can say like, okay, I got this audition
- 13:38Speaker 1: on that day. If I'm gonna get those lines down,
- 13:40Speaker 1: I at least have to do two hours on this day. Okay,
- 13:43Speaker 1: so I blocked those hours out. Okay, now, you know,
- 13:45Speaker 1: and just schedule the shit out of it, right if
- 13:47Speaker 1: you can't just do it on a whim, because you're
- 13:49Speaker 1: gonna be like, oh fuck, I'm just gonna play this
- 13:51Speaker 1: video game for a second, all right, I'm just gonna
- 13:54Speaker 1: watch a second of that game, all right, all right,
- 13:56Speaker 1: Oh I'm gonna suck around and hang out with my
- 13:58Speaker 1: kids for like three seconds and then and then you're
- 14:01Speaker 1: tired and you're done. Yeah, just you know, food for
- 14:05Speaker 1: thought for all of you out there who are who
- 14:07Speaker 1: have busy schedules. I'm wondering how you make it through.
- 14:11Speaker 1: What's your what's your thing? Zach says, Zach says, keep hustling, Zach. Well, listen,
- 14:17Speaker 1: there's an expression that I've heard before that I really
- 14:19Speaker 1: truly believe. Are you ready for it? I'm listening. Some
- 14:23Speaker 1: of you have heard it before, but maybe some of
- 14:24Speaker 1: you haven't. If you want to get something done, give
- 14:28Speaker 1: it to a busy person because they're in the fucking
- 14:31Speaker 1: space of I got this to do, then I gotta
- 14:33Speaker 1: do that. I got this. Someone who's not busy is
- 14:35Speaker 1: like later, I should probably memorize the line, you know.
- 14:41Speaker 1: But when you're in like fucking hustle mode and you're like, Okay,
- 14:44Speaker 1: I gotta do this, I gotta do that, I gotta
- 14:46Speaker 1: do this, I gotta do that, you're fucking you schedule
- 14:48Speaker 1: your ship and you get it down. But you should
- 14:51Speaker 1: definitely not be slacking on your on your auditions. Man
- 14:53Speaker 1: talent to anything. But that's the last thing I want
- 14:56Speaker 1: to do right now is to phone in anything. I'd
- 14:58Speaker 1: rather not do the audition and phone it in. All right,
- 15:01Speaker 1: Should we talk about the show Scrubs? We should. It's
- 15:03Speaker 1: called Mining Suit and it was written by Tim Hobert,
- 15:07Speaker 1: very funny man, and directed by Victor Nelly Jr. A
- 15:10Speaker 1: very talented director. Yes, and I laughed a lot in
- 15:13Speaker 1: this episode. Donald, did you you did? Had to watch it?
- 15:16Speaker 1: I did not. I had to watch it twice. In
- 15:18Speaker 1: the second time, I laughed. I laughed more. I just
- 15:21Speaker 1: I didn't think at first. I was like, this isn't
- 15:23Speaker 1: that funny this, you know what I mean? Like it's
- 15:26Speaker 1: a conditioning episode. It's very it's there's not a lot
- 15:28Speaker 1: that happens. It was probably one of those, um, hey,
- 15:31Speaker 1: we spend a lot of money on last week's episode.
- 15:33Speaker 1: We need one that's a little cheaper. Yeah, well, but
- 15:37Speaker 1: they brought in Tom Kavanaugh, you know what I mean.
- 15:39Speaker 1: And it's like, I don't know. I didn't. I didn't
- 15:42Speaker 1: get Tom's role in the show until the very end.
- 15:45Speaker 1: It's about tough love. Yeah, anything episode is about tough love, right,
- 15:50Speaker 1: But I didn't get that until the end. A lot
- 15:53Speaker 1: of the stuff I understood with Elliott and heard telling
- 15:59Speaker 1: the kid, you know, dude, you lost that weight you need.
- 16:02Speaker 1: If you lost that weight, you'd it would be easy
- 16:04Speaker 1: for you to get in here. But because you didn't,
- 16:06Speaker 1: you got to go to the zoo. That must be
- 16:08Speaker 1: a real thing. I mean that maybe wouldn't have made
- 16:11Speaker 1: that up. That is so fucked up. Yeah, hey, you
- 16:14Speaker 1: know that's how it goes sometimes. I know I'm not
- 16:16Speaker 1: saying that it isn't what they need to do, but
- 16:18Speaker 1: I never heard that, and I'm sure they didn't make
- 16:20Speaker 1: that up that if someone is as big as that
- 16:22Speaker 1: young man is, they have to take them to the
- 16:24Speaker 1: zoo for an MRI. Yeah. Yeah, anyway, so like I
- 16:28Speaker 1: got that and I was like, wow, that's a that's
- 16:30Speaker 1: a that's a that's a hard pill to swallow for
- 16:34Speaker 1: anyone to have to hear something like that. Are you
- 16:36Speaker 1: able to do that in your life? Are you able
- 16:38Speaker 1: to say the shit that someone really needs to hear,
- 16:42Speaker 1: even though it's going to be so uncomfortable and you
- 16:44Speaker 1: don't want to hurt their feelings? Sometimes sometimes sometimes it's well,
- 16:52Speaker 1: this is a lesson that you have to learn on
- 16:54Speaker 1: your own. I sometimes I think I hide from from
- 16:59Speaker 1: from hurting anyone feelings, probably too much. I live with
- 17:02Speaker 1: Casey Cobb, and you know she's a straight shooter. Casey
- 17:08Speaker 1: always says, what is she was there an expression, Um,
- 17:13Speaker 1: she goes, what's the what's the phrase she says, donald,
- 17:15Speaker 1: she goes when she's about to drop some truth bomb
- 17:20Speaker 1: on your ass. No judgments. Yeah, oh that Sometimes when
- 17:24Speaker 1: she's talking about herself, she'll be like, all right, no judgments, y'all.
- 17:26Speaker 1: But and uh, yeah, she's a straight shooter. So you
- 17:32Speaker 1: have your wife you can lean on. You can be like,
- 17:33Speaker 1: we gotta tell this person that this, Well she'll be
- 17:37Speaker 1: she's the one that's like, nah, you should mind your business.
- 17:39Speaker 1: Or she'd be like, yeah, you should tell that person that.
- 17:42Speaker 1: You know. I feel like I'm so worried about hurting
- 17:44Speaker 1: anyone's feelings to mind in their detriment, that I don't
- 17:48Speaker 1: say things sometimes that need to be said, you know,
- 17:51Speaker 1: because if everyone's if everyone's tiptoeing, if everyone's friends are
- 17:55Speaker 1: tiptoeing around saying something, then they might not know really
- 18:00Speaker 1: treat you might not know. But the worst part is
- 18:03Speaker 1: when it goes down, like let's say it's a girl
- 18:07Speaker 1: and it's about somebody that you're dating, and you know,
- 18:13Speaker 1: everybody's like you should break up with that person secretly
- 18:17Speaker 1: behind your back. And then when you guys find when
- 18:21Speaker 1: the person breaks your heart or something like that, everybody's like,
- 18:25Speaker 1: you know, we were thinking this ship for a really
- 18:28Speaker 1: long time. And your response is, well, why didn't you
- 18:30Speaker 1: tell me? You know what I mean? Oh well, we
- 18:32Speaker 1: didn't want to hurt your feelings. Fuck that shit. But
- 18:35Speaker 1: then you still got a tread carefully because you know
- 18:37Speaker 1: what happens. They get right back together with a person
- 18:39Speaker 1: and you unload it right and then right, and then
- 18:41Speaker 1: you told them every pig that's the most fucked up shit.
- 18:45Speaker 1: I learned about a very young man. Do not pillow talk.
- 18:49Speaker 1: Do not pillow talk, no matter who you wit, don't
- 18:52Speaker 1: do it. Wait, I thought pillow talk is when you're
- 18:55Speaker 1: lying around in bed with your partner and talking in Yeah,
- 18:58Speaker 1: but you could talk shit with people like you talk
- 19:00Speaker 1: shit to a girl. I got this person is horrible
- 19:03Speaker 1: or such and such, because next thing you know, that
- 19:06Speaker 1: shit's all around somebody else heard that ship from somebody else.
- 19:10Speaker 1: Oh yeah, because you broke up. The worst part is
- 19:14Speaker 1: like someone someone breaks up, Someone breaks up and you're like, okay, look,
- 19:18Speaker 1: I didn't want to hurt your feelings. It was none
- 19:20Speaker 1: of my business. And then you just unload all this shit, right,
- 19:23Speaker 1: and then they're like yeah yeah, and they're like swiping
- 19:25Speaker 1: away their tears. And then the next day they're like
- 19:27Speaker 1: we got back together. You're like, it all sucks, dude,
- 19:35Speaker 1: all right, So what's going on in here? We got
- 19:37Speaker 1: a hamster. M found hamster. Doug found the hamster in
- 19:42Speaker 1: a dead guy's colon, which means the man was doing
- 19:46Speaker 1: that thing that some men do, I guess, or people do.
- 19:51Speaker 1: What's that called, Joel hamstering? That is I this is
- 19:57Speaker 1: what I don't This is what I don't understand. How
- 20:00Speaker 1: does a rodent? I think you doesn't a colon? Hat? Well,
- 20:06Speaker 1: I'm not necessary. Okay, before we even get to how
- 20:10Speaker 1: you get the rodent up in there? I think I
- 20:12Speaker 1: want to know. Okay, right, how does the rodent live in?
- 20:16Speaker 1: You know those hamsters hamster things, habitats. It's like I
- 20:21Speaker 1: think it's like a yellow two that the hamster would
- 20:24Speaker 1: normally go to its bedroom in, like I'm off the bed,
- 20:27Speaker 1: but instead of into the anus cavity. Yes, how do
- 20:33Speaker 1: you durbl Joel? Can you tell our audience if they
- 20:35Speaker 1: want to try this, don't don't try this. Dear, dear,
- 20:42Speaker 1: dear fake doctor's real friends, listeners, This is a alert
- 20:47Speaker 1: that this is not something you should try. Don't do
- 20:50Speaker 1: this at home. Don't do this at home. Seriously, no
- 20:53Speaker 1: Joe kidding. People go to the hospital for this. Joel's
- 20:55Speaker 1: face is horrified. Joel, give us the cliff notes. How
- 20:58Speaker 1: does he do it? On the way Compedia page, it
- 21:01Speaker 1: says often the rodents are given a psychoactive substance, such
- 21:07Speaker 1: as cocaine prior to being thirty. You give the Gerbil coke, okay,
- 21:13Speaker 1: step one, go on. I never, I never. I never
- 21:19Speaker 1: heard anything in my life that was step one. Give
- 21:22Speaker 1: the Gerbil compaine. Oh my god, that's not even step one.
- 21:32Speaker 1: Step one buy cocaine. Not for you, the Gerbil, step two, Gerbil,
- 21:38Speaker 1: step three, Gerbil cocaine. Something comforting to listeners. Dan Savage,
- 21:44Speaker 1: who is a sex advice columnist who frequently discusses unusual
- 21:48Speaker 1: sexual practices, stated in twenty thirteen that he's never received
- 21:53Speaker 1: a firsthand or even a second hand account of the practice,
- 21:57Speaker 1: So maybe no one's done it and it just lives
- 22:00Speaker 1: is in fantasyland. Oh people do it. I've heard stories
- 22:03Speaker 1: of people in well, you've heard stories you've know, you
- 22:05Speaker 1: don't have, you don't have. That's true, that's true. No
- 22:07Speaker 1: one was like, pro you're not gonna be what happened
- 22:09Speaker 1: to me last night. But what they I understand is,
- 22:13Speaker 1: and I'm gonna say this in a non graphic way, audience,
- 22:15Speaker 1: don't worry. Once the gerbil on coke is inside your rectum, Yeah,
- 22:21Speaker 1: what's what's supposed to happen? What then happens? I guess
- 22:26Speaker 1: him or him or her running around on coke feels
- 22:28Speaker 1: nice to some people. In your gut and you're you're
- 22:32Speaker 1: you're intestines in your mainus, in your butt. Yeah, I mean,
- 22:38Speaker 1: think about it. If a lot of people, like a
- 22:40Speaker 1: lot of people like Scratchel, maybe a declaw is declaw
- 22:43Speaker 1: the fourth Stephn Jesus, we're just piling on the layers
- 22:48Speaker 1: of animal cruel. No, we're not saying you should do this.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Don't do this. Disclaimer one's gonna no, no, don't do this.
- 22:59Speaker 1: But if you honor me, no, listen, don't do it. Okay.
- 23:05Speaker 1: So anyway, moving on, since it's the first moment of
- 23:07Speaker 1: the show, and then they find Doug in the fetal position,
- 23:10Speaker 1: he goes, why would he live in there? Right, why
- 23:15Speaker 1: Elliot likes to role play that she's trying to get pregnant.
- 23:19Speaker 1: This is her new role play, Yes, her new role play.
- 23:22Speaker 1: She's so understanding Keith is Keith is having fun? What
- 23:26Speaker 1: about when fucking Tom Kavina tries to have a threesome
- 23:28Speaker 1: and they cut to Keith stretching. He's stretching, getting ready
- 23:31Speaker 1: to go in there, folding his shirt. Yeah, He's like,
- 23:36Speaker 1: that was the funniest moment the show. Tom Kavana shows
- 23:39Speaker 1: up at their house. Elliot's in very sexy lagree and
- 23:43Speaker 1: and Keith and Keith standing there and and Tom Cavanaugh
- 23:47Speaker 1: misreads the situation like, all right, I'm in. I'm like,
- 23:49Speaker 1: he's down there for threesome. He walks to the bedroom,
- 23:51Speaker 1: starts jumping on their bed, and Keith's like, Elliot, you
- 23:54Speaker 1: have to warn me about these things. That doesn't get mad.
- 23:57Speaker 1: He enters and starts stretching. Then she closes the door
- 24:01Speaker 1: and heads that way. She heads that way, closes the door.
- 24:03Speaker 1: At first, that was my question at first was did
- 24:05Speaker 1: they have the threesome labor on? They say it almost happened.
- 24:09Speaker 1: I think that they added that for protection of Elliot's
- 24:15Speaker 1: character or something, right, Okay, Well, I mean because it's
- 24:19Speaker 1: way funnier if they had a threesome. If they did
- 24:21Speaker 1: have the threesome, that would I guess it doesn't work
- 24:23Speaker 1: story wise because Tom Kavanaugh needs to be rejected, right. Um,
- 24:27Speaker 1: So I never got this story about breaking the fourth wall. Yes,
- 24:34Speaker 1: I get, yeah, I get the joke. I get what
- 24:37Speaker 1: it is that it's trying to do. But then even
- 24:42Speaker 1: at the end of it where he's like, we'll be
- 24:44Speaker 1: right back and she goes the nerve the patient goes,
- 24:48Speaker 1: was he talking to us? And it is? It is
- 24:50Speaker 1: pushing If you think of the red line where Scrubs
- 24:54Speaker 1: pushes reality, it's definitely sticking your toe over the reality
- 24:58Speaker 1: line in a way that we don't normally do, right. Um,
- 25:05Speaker 1: because in the world of cinema and television, when someone's
- 25:10Speaker 1: looking directly into the lens, not always, but let's say
- 25:14Speaker 1: for the most part, you are looking at the audience.
- 25:17Speaker 1: And that's what the joke is, obviously, but it's not
- 25:20Speaker 1: something we normally do very often on Scrubs. It's rare
- 25:25Speaker 1: if but I laughed. I mean, the first of all,
- 25:28Speaker 1: the whole Americo thing was funny. I want to know
- 25:31Speaker 1: what America thinks it's why Yeah, and then someone goes,
- 25:39Speaker 1: why is he here? Is that mean? Out of forgotten?
- 25:42Speaker 1: But like why is that next line? Why is he
- 25:49Speaker 1: in the ICU? Who lets the tailor into the ICU place?
- 25:53Speaker 1: Must have so many germs? Well it did? It did? Um? Yes?
- 25:59Speaker 1: But then then I like, we'll be right back talking
- 26:02Speaker 1: to us. I don't know, I don't care. Yeah, um, okay,
- 26:07Speaker 1: now we already discussed that Tom Kavanaugh's back. Yes, And Herbert,
- 26:13Speaker 1: who is the obese patient who's very charming. Also from
- 26:19Speaker 1: the wonderful movie Old School? He was in that. Oh
- 26:23Speaker 1: was he the guy in Old School? Yes? I think
- 26:26Speaker 1: he might have also been. If it's not him, it's
- 26:28Speaker 1: his brother, played Hercules from the Nutty Professor Hercules Hercale.
- 26:35Speaker 1: Oh really, it might be his brother. I think it's
- 26:37Speaker 1: his brother, though herclees hercleese. Now there's a new beautiful
- 26:43Speaker 1: nurse or intern. I think she's I think she's a nurse,
- 26:46Speaker 1: but I don't think. I don't know what she does.
- 26:50Speaker 1: But she's a new character, right, and she has crossed
- 26:53Speaker 1: ted cross You turned me down fourteen times for drinks? Well,
- 27:00Speaker 1: who's the creeper loser? Now he is still? Yeah, I mean,
- 27:07Speaker 1: this is this is a straight up HR episode. Like,
- 27:10Speaker 1: you can't ask somebody out fourteen times at the workplace,
- 27:12Speaker 1: that's just so. I mean you might get one. What
- 27:16Speaker 1: about all the conversations Ted has with his mom in
- 27:19Speaker 1: this episode? It's so weird. Yeah right, Joel, you're making
- 27:22Speaker 1: that face. Yeah, I know, it's it's horrifying. He's talking
- 27:25Speaker 1: about rubbing lotion and dry police. They share a bed.
- 27:30Speaker 1: It's not good. Yeah, let's get back to him asking
- 27:33Speaker 1: her out fourteen times. Yeah, you can't do that. If
- 27:37Speaker 1: you can't do that, can you, Yeah, just like we
- 27:39Speaker 1: can't ask these guys about pearl necklaces, Joel, how many
- 27:43Speaker 1: times can you ask somebody out before it's sexual harassment
- 27:46Speaker 1: at the workplace? Once? That's it pretty unless you unless
- 27:51Speaker 1: the person is like, asked me later, like oh I'm
- 27:54Speaker 1: not sure enough the uh he should probably just think
- 27:57Speaker 1: to one time, you know what I mean. I think
- 27:58Speaker 1: once is a good rule everybody. First of all, although
- 28:02Speaker 1: I did ask my wife out several times before she
- 28:04Speaker 1: said yeah, yeah, but you know where you know why,
- 28:06Speaker 1: that's exception. First of all, there's two exceptions. You didn't
- 28:08Speaker 1: work together. Second of all, you were definitely getting flirty
- 28:13Speaker 1: vibes back, and if you can read the vibes that's
- 28:18Speaker 1: like correctly and you're not misreading them, well it might
- 28:24Speaker 1: you might go, Okay, I'm gonna try again. And I
- 28:26Speaker 1: feel like that's gotten a lot of people in trouble
- 28:28Speaker 1: though where they've been like, you know, I thought I
- 28:30Speaker 1: was reading the flirty vibes correctly. You know what the
- 28:32Speaker 1: problem is. This is why we can't endorse this. Too
- 28:35Speaker 1: many people can't read the vibes. Right there you go, Yeah,
- 28:38Speaker 1: thanks again, Dan, I'll speak to that. I agree with
- 28:42Speaker 1: everybody's point here is that, like I think Casey and
- 28:44Speaker 1: Donald scenario is certainly unique and that there was a
- 28:47Speaker 1: friendship there. There was certainly something going. But also this
- 28:51Speaker 1: was like nightclus Sorry before you continue, this is like
- 28:53Speaker 1: nightclubs and parties and like you know, this isn't like
- 28:56Speaker 1: a fucking cubicle job, right sorry, Dana can no. No,
- 29:00Speaker 1: totally fine, But too often people hear no, and they
- 29:03Speaker 1: hear and people get a no, But what they hear
- 29:06Speaker 1: is Okay, I'm gonna try again, like a week and
- 29:08Speaker 1: see what happens. It's like no, you gotta know that
- 29:10Speaker 1: means no. You move on. You say, okay, thank you
- 29:13Speaker 1: very time. Sorry to bother you, see you next Tuesday.
- 29:16Speaker 1: See you next Tuesday. Wow, you call it us sorry
- 29:20Speaker 1: that wow? Okay, I apologize. Wow. That is literally okay,
- 29:22Speaker 1: you don't really funny about that. That That is not what
- 29:24Speaker 1: I meant by that. What I meant by that was
- 29:26Speaker 1: literally like, okay, I actually said see you on Monday.
- 29:31Speaker 1: Bring you on Monday. Yeah, we'll be right back. And
- 29:33Speaker 1: when we come back, I want to talk about Tom
- 29:35Speaker 1: Cavanaugh's piercing blue eyes. They were really bright, his skin
- 29:39Speaker 1: was really white, and his eyes were really the most
- 29:42Speaker 1: beautiful eyes. We'll be right back, and we're bad. We're bad.
- 29:55Speaker 1: Did you intend to say see you next Tuesday? No?
- 29:57Speaker 1: I no, I did not, But it does remind me
- 29:59Speaker 1: my in psychology in college, our classes were on Thursday
- 30:03Speaker 1: and Tuesday. At the end of every Thursday class, he
- 30:05Speaker 1: would say, all right, see you next Tuesday, and that
- 30:07Speaker 1: was always something funny. It we u. I would say
- 30:13Speaker 1: about fifty fifty percent of people who listening don't even
- 30:16Speaker 1: know what we're talking about, but google it because we're
- 30:18Speaker 1: not going to get in trouble here. Um. So Turk
- 30:21Speaker 1: can't contain himself. He has to tell JD about Angie. Yes,
- 30:26Speaker 1: So Carla and Turko decided that they're now going to
- 30:30Speaker 1: name this baby in her belly. They don't know if
- 30:33Speaker 1: it's a boy or a girl, but Carla has already
- 30:37Speaker 1: decided on the girl's name and it's gonna be Angie.
- 30:39Speaker 1: And she asks Turk asks Turk if he wants to
- 30:44Speaker 1: name the if it's a boy, if he wants to
- 30:46Speaker 1: give the baby a name, and he's like, yeah, absolutely,
- 30:49Speaker 1: say hello to Fuku. Yeah, and she's like, no, no, no,
- 30:53Speaker 1: no, no no. I meant like I was thinking more like George.
- 30:57Speaker 1: He's like, yeah, sure, George is fine. He's like, because
- 31:00Speaker 1: I was thinking for a girl. She's like, no, no no, no, no, no, Angie,
- 31:02Speaker 1: we already came up with the name, right, We've already
- 31:04Speaker 1: came up with the name. She tells him, don't tell
- 31:09Speaker 1: no one because if you do it, they're gonna fuck
- 31:11Speaker 1: it up for us. And I don't want that. I
- 31:13Speaker 1: want this baby's name to be ours. And that's it.
- 31:16Speaker 1: He's like, absolutely, I will not tell anyone, and you
- 31:19Speaker 1: know exactly who he's gonna tell. The minute he said instantly,
- 31:22Speaker 1: he can't hold it in for two seconds, not even
- 31:24Speaker 1: a say He runs to j D, who is in
- 31:27Speaker 1: room in a room with a patient, and interrupts the
- 31:31Speaker 1: patient and doctor time to tell JD. If we have
- 31:36Speaker 1: a girl, we're gonna name it Angie. Now, this is
- 31:38Speaker 1: a question for you, as a parent of so many children.
- 31:42Speaker 1: Aren't you supposed to keep the name quiet, because otherwise
- 31:45Speaker 1: everybody weighs in and says, oh, I knew a guy,
- 31:48Speaker 1: don't do that. Oh, this creepy guy's named that. Oh
- 31:51Speaker 1: I hate that girl named that. Like right, everyone's got
- 31:53Speaker 1: an opinion. Yes, you are to keep it to yourself.
- 31:59Speaker 1: And usually from what I've like, we didn't know Rocco's
- 32:03Speaker 1: name until a few weeks out, you know, And we
- 32:06Speaker 1: didn't know Wilder's name until a few days out, you know.
- 32:13Speaker 1: And some people don't know until the baby's born, and
- 32:16Speaker 1: so you know. But I would keep it too. I
- 32:18Speaker 1: would keep it to myself because everybody has a story
- 32:20Speaker 1: about someone, you know what I mean. You'd be like
- 32:23Speaker 1: I have a friend, I have a you know. It
- 32:26Speaker 1: just it never goes well. When you're like, what we
- 32:28Speaker 1: were thinking about this name, somebody's always going to be like, well,
- 32:31Speaker 1: you know, I didn't know that one person named it's funny.
- 32:34Speaker 1: Amanda was broadcasting that she loved Elvis for so long
- 32:38Speaker 1: and we were all cringing. I was like, a man, no, no,
- 32:41Speaker 1: you unless you're like obsessed with Elvis. She's like, I
- 32:43Speaker 1: like Elvis, but the music, musical legend, but I don't.
- 32:48Speaker 1: It's not like I'm a I'm a mega fan. I
- 32:50Speaker 1: just love the name Elvis. And she did it the
- 32:53Speaker 1: opposite way, so she was like telling him she was
- 32:55Speaker 1: like trying to run a campaign till clearly on Nick
- 32:58Speaker 1: as well, but also the friend group and uh and
- 33:02Speaker 1: now I love it. But at the time I remember
- 33:03Speaker 1: being like, oh, man, no, so that's what you don't want.
- 33:08Speaker 1: You don't want the friend being like, nah, dude, not fuku.
- 33:12Speaker 1: Well yeah, I mean not just or or you know,
- 33:15Speaker 1: naming a hamster after the baby either, you know what
- 33:18Speaker 1: I mean. Well, that's what's so funny. By the way,
- 33:21Speaker 1: it's very rare that anyone outside the main cast gets
- 33:23Speaker 1: a fane. Isn't it a fantasy? It's a flashback, and
- 33:27Speaker 1: this little girl in playing with the hamster gets a
- 33:30Speaker 1: flashback and it cuts to me playing with the kids
- 33:35Speaker 1: and the hamster that we should name the hamster Angie. Yeah,
- 33:39Speaker 1: they're asking what should we name it? When you're like, well,
- 33:41Speaker 1: I got a perfect name. We should name it Angie. Now,
- 33:44Speaker 1: why do you think JD did that? Because I don't
- 33:46Speaker 1: think he did it consciously. I think it was subconsciously,
- 33:48Speaker 1: Like the first new thing in his brain was Angie.
- 33:51Speaker 1: He's like, how about Angie? And all the kids going excite?
- 33:55Speaker 1: That ship was hilarious where they're walking by and they're like,
- 33:57Speaker 1: who wants to hold her next? Me? I get to
- 33:59Speaker 1: hold it Angie next? And turn about when Carla stop
- 34:02Speaker 1: and track into a what's it called? The ass asked Gerbil.
- 34:07Speaker 1: The asked Gerbil Angie Angie. The asked Gerbil. How about
- 34:10Speaker 1: when I go what about Tiger? So you apparently you're
- 34:14Speaker 1: telling everyone you're related to Tiger Woods. He's this is
- 34:18Speaker 1: This goes on for a while, though. I think they're
- 34:20Speaker 1: like three quarters related, Like there's a he's a quarter.
- 34:27Speaker 1: I don't know what it is, but oh you mean
- 34:29Speaker 1: it comes back into episode. Yeah, this comes back a
- 34:31Speaker 1: couple of times about the gay tests where you play
- 34:34Speaker 1: macho man. I wonder how much money. I wonder how
- 34:38Speaker 1: much money they spent on that graphic to have that
- 34:41Speaker 1: baby dancing in that freaking uterus a lot, because you know,
- 34:43Speaker 1: we're not known for our visual effects. And that was
- 34:45Speaker 1: pretty good, right, But that was okay, So that this
- 34:49Speaker 1: might be the funniest thing in the show. You said
- 34:52Speaker 1: you thought it was the threesome thing. I want to
- 34:55Speaker 1: talk about the janitor's adopted brother named Cleat. Yes, you're
- 35:00Speaker 1: cutting very you're cutting ahead a lot, but okay, okay.
- 35:03Speaker 1: The janitor's parents they adopted a forty six year old. Yes,
- 35:07Speaker 1: he was older than they were. He was older than
- 35:09Speaker 1: they were, and his name was Cleat, and he did
- 35:13Speaker 1: odd jobs around the house right old time, and everything
- 35:19Speaker 1: was great until the janitor's mom slept with with Cleat. Yeah,
- 35:24Speaker 1: because when they got because Cleat, when he got older,
- 35:28Speaker 1: him and the janitor's dad this used to fight all
- 35:31Speaker 1: the time, all the time. I don't know if you
- 35:36Speaker 1: can legally adopt them? No, no, no, somebody live with you,
- 35:42Speaker 1: that's no, there's no no. I just want to know,
- 35:45Speaker 1: can you legally adopt someone who's over eighteen? No? Yes,
- 35:49Speaker 1: what I could adopt a grown a grown man. I
- 35:53Speaker 1: want to adopt you got is an acknowledgement of parenthood.
- 35:57Speaker 1: Um and fun fact. Queer couples way back in the
- 36:00Speaker 1: days to do it in order to get um rights
- 36:02Speaker 1: to like people in the hospital and stuff. It's not
- 36:06Speaker 1: done frequently, but it has been. Oh well, it's done
- 36:10Speaker 1: as a loop, as a loophole type. I love my parents,
- 36:17Speaker 1: and I acknowledge number. What if I what if I
- 36:19Speaker 1: adopted you and you had to call me dad Daddy?
- 36:26Speaker 1: I wouldn't. I wouldn't I would I have some say
- 36:29Speaker 1: in the adoption. I'm sure of it. Two condoms because
- 36:32Speaker 1: he's so worried about Kenning Elliott pregnant. Now on Now,
- 36:35Speaker 1: One thing I do know those of you listening, is
- 36:37Speaker 1: that wearing two condoms is actually not dangerous. It's not good,
- 36:43Speaker 1: it's not advised. It's dangerous. It doesn't make you double protected, right, Joel, No,
- 36:49Speaker 1: the friction between the two condoms is more likely to
- 36:52Speaker 1: cause a rupture. He's one condom. It's enough. One condom.
- 36:56Speaker 1: But do wear a condom? Everybody? Okay, m and you
- 37:00Speaker 1: both have gone and got tested and you're you're and
- 37:04Speaker 1: you're willing to have a baby. Yeah, and you're okay
- 37:06Speaker 1: with having a baby. How about when Elliott and Keith
- 37:10Speaker 1: are having sex. Elliott says, promise me, you'll hold me
- 37:15Speaker 1: like this when I'm pushing our baby out of my pajama.
- 37:24Speaker 1: She's so twisted, Elliott. She is really by the way, Keith,
- 37:29Speaker 1: this woman was a complete different character sexually before Keith.
- 37:36Speaker 1: What is it about Keith? I mean, I know Travis
- 37:38Speaker 1: is very handsome, but what is it about Keith has
- 37:41Speaker 1: brought out the freeze down for whatever he's Elliott hit
- 37:46Speaker 1: her dirty thirties and just took off. Okay, well clearly
- 37:49Speaker 1: because every other season, okay, every other season she was
- 37:53Speaker 1: like prudish. She claimed, We're gonna do a little bit
- 37:56Speaker 1: of a reveal here. As of recently, my wife has
- 38:01Speaker 1: gone over the time. Whoa when it comes to sexual relations, Zach,
- 38:07Speaker 1: I love you. Why how so just let's just say
- 38:12Speaker 1: she's gone over the top. It's been good before, and
- 38:16Speaker 1: we've been we've had we listen, we got two kids,
- 38:19Speaker 1: so you know, the sex is good. We're putting it
- 38:21Speaker 1: in if you know what I'm saying, we don't know
- 38:26Speaker 1: twice gonna be like he's twerking but no, uh but uh,
- 38:33Speaker 1: you know it's it's it's recently like she's having way
- 38:39Speaker 1: more fun than I can remember in the last and
- 38:43Speaker 1: it is and she's not thirty and thank you very much.
- 38:47Speaker 1: And she's not thirty. So you say it's the dirty thirties.
- 38:50Speaker 1: I think it comes uh when shorty forties, whatever it is,
- 38:55Speaker 1: I don't know when it happened. I don't know what
- 38:57Speaker 1: you call it, but you know everybody was like everybody
- 38:59Speaker 1: was like that, you know the old You know I
- 39:02Speaker 1: have a very, I have a very I have a
- 39:04Speaker 1: very high uh sex drive. We know everyone in America
- 39:08Speaker 1: knows guys. Right, And you're saying she's meeting you, she's
- 39:12Speaker 1: meeting you where you are. Well, she not neces sard
- 39:14Speaker 1: not necessarily meet me where I am. But when she one,
- 39:17Speaker 1: no one wouldn't have a job in your house. But
- 39:20Speaker 1: when it when it when, when it happens, it's fucking
- 39:25Speaker 1: m it's a party, dude, Like, have you tried the
- 39:31Speaker 1: whirly bird? I don't want to try the whirly bird.
- 39:34Speaker 1: I'll spot you, guys. I'll wear a blindfold and spot
- 39:36Speaker 1: you guys. Will you guess? I'm coming to La by
- 39:39Speaker 1: the way for the Emmys. Do you want to do
- 39:40Speaker 1: it this weekend? This weekend my work as Casey because
- 39:47Speaker 1: I'm coming to town for the Emmy's ask her. If
- 39:49Speaker 1: she wants me to spot you guys for the Whirly Bird,
- 39:52Speaker 1: I'm down definitely willing to put on bows, noise canceling headphones,
- 39:57Speaker 1: and um goggles, blinding goggles. I can't wait. So my
- 40:03Speaker 1: point is can't wait. My point is Elliott has reached
- 40:07Speaker 1: this level, and she just reached it at an early age.
- 40:10Speaker 1: You know what I mean? She is freaking sometimes. The partner, well, yeah,
- 40:15Speaker 1: well definitely look at him. He's a fucking kindle man
- 40:17Speaker 1: like and he's bady, and he's and he's got dynamite areolas.
- 40:20Speaker 1: We know you know what I mean, Like, I mean,
- 40:22Speaker 1: she's human, It's not like you know what I mean.
- 40:25Speaker 1: I'm sure she has fantasy. Just because she's a woman
- 40:29Speaker 1: doesn't mean it can't be fulfilled. So right, I'm just saying, sometimes, um,
- 40:34Speaker 1: you when you find when you get with a specific partner,
- 40:37Speaker 1: like you can have great sex with somebody else, and
- 40:40Speaker 1: you could, you would call it great sex, But then
- 40:41Speaker 1: there's something about the chemistry between you and a specific
- 40:44Speaker 1: partner where you both are just like, I eat the ass.
- 40:47Speaker 1: I'll do it right. Oh my god, is too much,
- 40:50Speaker 1: too far? Wait to say it again? Fuck it, I'll
- 40:55Speaker 1: eat the ass. What did I go too far? I
- 41:06Speaker 1: don't think that's I don't think that's going to bring
- 41:08Speaker 1: an I heart hr. It was just the pearl necklace. UM.
- 41:11Speaker 1: Now Harrison and Winston, we learn where Tonto and Lone
- 41:15Speaker 1: Ranger jammies to bed Harrison and Winston. Harrison. First of all,
- 41:21Speaker 1: here's the funny thing, right, Harrison's new boyfriend is named Winston.
- 41:25Speaker 1: Winston and they wait, they dressed someth They sound like
- 41:31Speaker 1: the two people in the Freaking Balcony from the Muppets.
- 41:33Speaker 1: Harrison and Winston. They dress up as Toto and Lone
- 41:38Speaker 1: Ranger not to go to a costume party, but UM
- 41:42Speaker 1: reports that's their jammies at the end of the episode
- 41:46Speaker 1: the picture, Yes, and his husband Michael. Now, if you pause,
- 41:53Speaker 1: you'll see that they but also that it's getting complicated
- 42:03Speaker 1: because if you're reading in the if you're really staying
- 42:05Speaker 1: in the Scrubs universe. Winston must be the twin brother
- 42:12Speaker 1: of Leonards the security guard. Yes, yes, so maybe Harrison
- 42:19Speaker 1: met him when visiting his dad at the hospital on
- 42:22Speaker 1: the same day that that Leonard the security guards brought
- 42:26Speaker 1: twin brother Winston. This is some deep This is the
- 42:29Speaker 1: kind of shit you fools do with Star Wars and
- 42:31Speaker 1: Marble like. Okay, so Leonard's twin brother must have met
- 42:37Speaker 1: Harrison at the hospital. Well the time. The timeline does fit. Yeh,
- 42:44Speaker 1: the timeline. It does not different What do you call it?
- 42:47Speaker 1: A different? What do you call it? It's not a
- 42:49Speaker 1: different It's not a multiverse. It's not a multiverse situation.
- 42:52Speaker 1: The timeline fits the occasion. Okay, so oh here it is.
- 42:58Speaker 1: Jad names dead guys, but amster Angie. I couldn't find it.
- 43:02Speaker 1: Um they say that Turkey is the greatest pink bellier
- 43:05Speaker 1: in all the land? Yes, do you I remember shooting this?
- 43:08Speaker 1: Do you remember shooting this? You really did it, didn't you? No?
- 43:11Speaker 1: I didn't. We faked it, But I remember shooting it.
- 43:14Speaker 1: I remember, I remember having to do it. I remember
- 43:17Speaker 1: Victim being like, keep going, keep going. I was like, really,
- 43:19Speaker 1: how long do I gotta do this because you're gonna
- 43:21Speaker 1: speed it up. I think you did it? Really did
- 43:23Speaker 1: it like once or twice? And I was like, no,
- 43:25Speaker 1: you're not doing that. It really fucking hurt. That wouldn't
- 43:29Speaker 1: mean really sound like I don't mean to sound like
- 43:31Speaker 1: a whim, but it hurt. That would really hurt. How
- 43:33Speaker 1: about that door hit? Did you That was a fucking
- 43:35Speaker 1: major door hit. And that was me when you guys
- 43:37Speaker 1: wonder why you guys wonder why I'm going to the
- 43:39Speaker 1: chiropractor at forty six, it's to make you all laugh.
- 43:42Speaker 1: That was a fucking hit. No, it was a hard
- 43:44Speaker 1: one too. Yeah, yeah, yeah, don't say I didn't give
- 43:49Speaker 1: you my all, everybody. I was gonna say. You know,
- 43:53Speaker 1: naming kids is fun, but that sh it's hard, dude,
- 43:57Speaker 1: all honesty. You know, the dynamic of pissing your partner
- 44:02Speaker 1: off because you like a name like I at one
- 44:05Speaker 1: point did bring up Luke and Leia to my ex wife,
- 44:08Speaker 1: and I remember her face looking at me like you've
- 44:10Speaker 1: gotta be fucking kidding me, Like did you like Rocco?
- 44:13Speaker 1: Right away? Yeah, well, Casey came up with the name.
- 44:17Speaker 1: Casey was like, what about rock No, No, we would talk.
- 44:19Speaker 1: We were watching Rocky, That's what happened, and I was like,
- 44:22Speaker 1: what do you think a Rocco? And she's like, I
- 44:24Speaker 1: like Rocko oh, and she was like and then she
- 44:28Speaker 1: talked to her grandmother about it, and Casey's Italian and
- 44:32Speaker 1: Sicilian and her grandmother was like, that's a very nice
- 44:35Speaker 1: Italian name, Sweetie. Oh that's good, all right. So the
- 44:39Speaker 1: baby names made it real for Carla and Turk, all
- 44:43Speaker 1: of a sudden, they start panicking. The second they had names,
- 44:46Speaker 1: they were switched from being panicky to oh shit, this
- 44:50Speaker 1: is real. Yeah. You know, the closer you get to
- 44:53Speaker 1: the end of the pregnancy, the more realistic it starts
- 44:56Speaker 1: to become. At first, it's like, yeah, okay, sure there's
- 44:59Speaker 1: a baby in there. But then you start feeling kicks.
- 45:01Speaker 1: You've come up with names, You're starting to pick out
- 45:04Speaker 1: all of these clothes, the freaking furniture starting to arrive,
- 45:09Speaker 1: you know, like all of these things. You're starting to
- 45:11Speaker 1: change your house around or your apartment around to make
- 45:15Speaker 1: space for the child and everything. Things would get real
- 45:19Speaker 1: really really really fast, and you start panicking. I've been
- 45:23Speaker 1: panicking for a really long time about my kids, you
- 45:27Speaker 1: know what I mean. And it doesn't go away. I
- 45:29Speaker 1: have adults, and it still doesn't go away. I still
- 45:32Speaker 1: am nervous. You know, you still feel panicky about your
- 45:35Speaker 1: older children. Yeah, I worry about the choices they make,
- 45:39Speaker 1: you know. I guess all parents would probably feel that way. Maybe, Yeah. Man,
- 45:42Speaker 1: It's like it doesn't take much to make one mistake
- 45:45Speaker 1: that could be fatal, you know what I mean, to
- 45:47Speaker 1: make a fatal mistake. It doesn't take that much. It's
- 45:50Speaker 1: so hard because you can't control their choices, you can't
- 45:52Speaker 1: control what they do out in the world. I can't
- 45:54Speaker 1: imagine that would that would be so stressful. It's it's
- 45:58Speaker 1: so stressful, especially when you have teenager because it's like, oh,
- 46:01Speaker 1: how are you gonna like think about you think about
- 46:04Speaker 1: what you did as a teen, and you're like, oh,
- 46:05Speaker 1: my god, I did some stupid shit. Imagine they're doing that. Well,
- 46:10Speaker 1: just all of the you know, just all of the
- 46:11Speaker 1: ways I would you know. You know, I have a daughter,
- 46:16Speaker 1: I have two daughters, and I'm lucky. My older daughter
- 46:20Speaker 1: has a boyfriend who seems to really, you know, worship her,
- 46:24Speaker 1: and I'm very, very lucky for that. But I worry
- 46:28Speaker 1: about this dude doing some dumb shit and me having
- 46:30Speaker 1: to fucking run up on him. You know what I mean.
- 46:32Speaker 1: I'll pull up you know what I mean, I don't.
- 46:34Speaker 1: I have no problem doing that. I'll pull up on
- 46:36Speaker 1: a little a little kid too, I'll pull up on parents.
- 46:39Speaker 1: I don't give a fuck. Man, Like you know, my
- 46:42Speaker 1: daughter comes home and says, you know, such and such
- 46:44Speaker 1: was mean to me today. Immediately I'm like, who's there?
- 46:46Speaker 1: But who's whose Whose mom is that? Whose dad is that?
- 46:49Speaker 1: Who's who's who's the dad? What's the dad's name? To
- 46:52Speaker 1: my wife? And she's like, baby, you can't, and I'll
- 46:54Speaker 1: be like, I'm I will pull up on these motherfuckers.
- 46:56Speaker 1: I have no problem, Like you just can't. You can't.
- 47:00Speaker 1: The thing that Turk and uh Carla are going through
- 47:04Speaker 1: you go through for the rest of your life. Like
- 47:07Speaker 1: I saw a meme, it wasn't a meme. It was
- 47:09Speaker 1: a TikTok where this girl gets in the car and
- 47:11Speaker 1: her mom's sitting there waiting for and the girl gets
- 47:14Speaker 1: in crying. Her mom's like, what happened? What's the matter,
- 47:16Speaker 1: And she's like, I got jumped. Oh she said, oh yeah,
- 47:18Speaker 1: by who? She said, some girls. She's like, how old
- 47:20Speaker 1: would they? She's about twelve. Her mom said, okay, bet,
- 47:22Speaker 1: I'm twelve now too. Let's go. Yeah. You know what
- 47:28Speaker 1: I mean. That's real talk. Man, You just have afraid
- 47:31Speaker 1: to have kids. I don't. I don't. I can't handle
- 47:33Speaker 1: this pressure. It's it's it's it's real, man. You damn
- 47:37Speaker 1: you're next. Whoa, I'm next? Congratulations. I don't give any
- 47:44Speaker 1: names and in mine, yeah, K probably named like Zelda,
- 47:52Speaker 1: a beautiful man. Oh or Linksna and link there you go. Um,
- 48:04Speaker 1: all right, do we have a guest caller today, Joelle?
- 48:06Speaker 1: Or are you not going to record their sound? Oh? Alright,
- 48:12Speaker 1: shots fired, we're recording right now. All right, let's take
- 48:16Speaker 1: a break and then we'll talk to someone who will
- 48:18Speaker 1: be very interesting. We'll be right back and we're back,
- 48:27Speaker 1: all right, Joel, bring us a guest. We got a
- 48:30Speaker 1: call games. You can talk starts, you know, like a
- 48:36Speaker 1: boa smoke, some jazz, maybe talking about the episode. So
- 48:43Speaker 1: come on, Joelle, let's get the show. Ladies and gentlemen.
- 48:48Speaker 1: Give it up for Carol. And how are you? Helloha, Hello, Hello,
- 49:04Speaker 1: welcome to the program. This is Fake Doctor's Real Friends.
- 49:06Speaker 1: That's the Donald Fhazon and of course you know the
- 49:09Speaker 1: legendary Daniel and Joel. And that is Zach Braff. Right,
- 49:13Speaker 1: Zach Braff wearing a crystal necklace. Um, I supposedly he
- 49:16Speaker 1: is going to give me energy and powers. How's that
- 49:18Speaker 1: working out for you? I don't know. I need to
- 49:21Speaker 1: take it off and see if I feel any change. Um,
- 49:24Speaker 1: but I kind of feel like it looks like Marti
- 49:26Speaker 1: Grab beads but with a little tassel. I like it,
- 49:29Speaker 1: but I like it. I think it's giving me power.
- 49:31Speaker 1: You know what it kind of looks like to me.
- 49:32Speaker 1: It looks like the Kung Foo beads from like the
- 49:35Speaker 1: Saturday morning Kung Fu television shows that I used to watch.
- 49:40Speaker 1: A feather at the end, you wrap that around a
- 49:42Speaker 1: freaking like a spear or a sword or a sword
- 49:47Speaker 1: freaking award yea sword, and it's freaking the freaking hip
- 49:53Speaker 1: hit all It sounds like a Woo Tang Clan album.
- 49:58Speaker 1: Tank Forever, Wo Forever Wo Tank Forever. Carolyn, Welcome to
- 50:03Speaker 1: the program. Um, where are you calling from? I am
- 50:06Speaker 1: calling from just that's how of Columbus, Ohio? Okay, yes,
- 50:11Speaker 1: not super exciting. I moved here about a year ago
- 50:15Speaker 1: for work during quarantine. What do you do? Where did
- 50:18Speaker 1: you move from? I ask the questions, Donald, calm down,
- 50:24Speaker 1: all right, we'll start off. I don't release the fight.
- 50:29Speaker 1: No question is where did you move from? And what
- 50:31Speaker 1: are you doing in Columbus? Beautiful? Um, I moved from Cleveland,
- 50:35Speaker 1: so not a very big move, you know. I love Cleveland. Carol,
- 50:39Speaker 1: you talked about Mabel's before the two restaurants. That's not
- 50:44Speaker 1: all I know. I've been at a casino. I've done
- 50:47Speaker 1: at all. All right, Carolin, what what do you do
- 50:50Speaker 1: for a living? I'm wicked? Um So, I am in
- 50:54Speaker 1: clinical research. So I'm a senior director of clinical development
- 50:58Speaker 1: at a biotech. Um we do we develop in research?
- 51:02Speaker 1: Gene therapy is for rare pediatric diseases. Wow. And do
- 51:06Speaker 1: you so rare pediatric diseases you're working on discovering medicines
- 51:11Speaker 1: for them? Yeah, exactly. Um So, the primary disease that
- 51:16Speaker 1: we're setting right now is called Crabbe disease. It's a
- 51:18Speaker 1: globoid cell lucadystrophe. Um. It's a very um rare and
- 51:24Speaker 1: catastrophic pediatric lucadystrophe. What is that? I'm sorry in layman's terms?
- 51:30Speaker 1: What is that? What does that happen? How does that
- 51:31Speaker 1: happens to the child? What is it? What does that mean? Yeah? So,
- 51:35Speaker 1: lessie with these children unless they are caught with through
- 51:39Speaker 1: newborn screening programs, and crabbe is actually only part of
- 51:41Speaker 1: newborn screening in nine states at the moment um. These
- 51:45Speaker 1: children will be born typically developing. You know, ten fingers,
- 51:49Speaker 1: ten toes, hitting everywhere they should on their appar et cetera.
- 51:53Speaker 1: And then um, as they grow older, the disease is
- 51:56Speaker 1: very rapidly progressing. So the parents will notice that they
- 51:59Speaker 1: are starting to fall behind on milestones, et cetera, and
- 52:02Speaker 1: we'll start taking them into the doctor to get their diagnosis.
- 52:05Speaker 1: My previous company up in Cleveland, I studied UM a
- 52:08Speaker 1: couple different muco polysacridoses, and those ones have a much
- 52:11Speaker 1: later onset their lycos almost storage disorders. And so basically,
- 52:16Speaker 1: your body is constantly producing cellular waste, and so your
- 52:19Speaker 1: lycensomes are in their kind of recycling, right, But with
- 52:26Speaker 1: these lycosolmoal storage disorders your body you have, you're missing
- 52:29Speaker 1: the enzymes of the proteins or the genes that they
- 52:33Speaker 1: should be doing that recycling, and so that cellular waste
- 52:35Speaker 1: just builds up. I'm sorry, we just didn't because we
- 52:37Speaker 1: don't know anything, even though we're pretend doctors. What is that?
- 52:40Speaker 1: How does that manifest? What happens to the child? Yeah,
- 52:43Speaker 1: So with crab a disease, a lot of the early
- 52:46Speaker 1: symptoms are the children will have difficulty eating, swallowing, breathing
- 52:54Speaker 1: moving with some of the other lucidistrict excuse me, other
- 52:57Speaker 1: lycosomal storage disorders, it's much later onset with krebe. Beyoncet
- 53:01Speaker 1: is very young and very rapid, and so you know
- 53:05Speaker 1: roughly ninety percent of these children will pass away by
- 53:07Speaker 1: age two. Oh my gosh, Oh my god. And it's
- 53:11Speaker 1: not something that anyone you said, only six states or
- 53:14Speaker 1: screening for this nine states right now. So if anyone's
- 53:18Speaker 1: listening and can they ask I mean, because I'm sure
- 53:21Speaker 1: there's people that are pregnant are listening to you. They're like,
- 53:24Speaker 1: oh my god, what do I do? What do you
- 53:25Speaker 1: ask your pediatriction or kinnecologists about? Yeah, So with these
- 53:30Speaker 1: different states have different options that you can add to
- 53:34Speaker 1: your standard newborn screening panels. There's something called the RUSP.
- 53:37Speaker 1: It's the Recommended Uniform Screening Panel and that's kind of
- 53:40Speaker 1: oversight from the federal government that mandates what should be
- 53:43Speaker 1: included in each state, and then each state has their
- 53:46Speaker 1: own kind of flexibility in what additional tests they screened
- 53:51Speaker 1: for there. And I don't want to scare it your listeners.
- 53:53Speaker 1: I mean, crebe is an ultra rare disease. It's rare,
- 53:56Speaker 1: but I'm saying, but I'm saying, if they happen to
- 53:59Speaker 1: be listening to this, they because say, hey, if you're
- 54:01Speaker 1: doing the RUST, can you add a test for what's
- 54:05Speaker 1: it called CRABE CRABE kr A BBE. I would, And
- 54:11Speaker 1: so there's nine active right now, you know, But then
- 54:13Speaker 1: it's really challenging. There are some petitions up right now
- 54:16Speaker 1: to get KRABE added to the RUST, but there are
- 54:18Speaker 1: petitions for a lot of rare diseases at the moment
- 54:22Speaker 1: trying to get them include really, why why? I wonder why.
- 54:25Speaker 1: This is probably a stupid question if you're in the
- 54:27Speaker 1: medical business, but why not add them all? Like why
- 54:30Speaker 1: does the RUST have to be limited? So kind of
- 54:33Speaker 1: two main reasons. One, depending on how frequent the diseases
- 54:37Speaker 1: or how well it's been studied, it might be there
- 54:40Speaker 1: might be a high rate of false positives, or the
- 54:42Speaker 1: diagnostic screening criteria might not be well enough defined, and
- 54:47Speaker 1: so you don't want to give somebody bad news if
- 54:48Speaker 1: it's not really true. And then you know, and they
- 54:53Speaker 1: really tend to shy away from diseases that don't have cures.
- 54:56Speaker 1: So if there is no cure for this disease, there
- 54:59Speaker 1: are some ethical considerations about whether or not the families
- 55:01Speaker 1: would want to know there's a standard of care for
- 55:05Speaker 1: craby disease. It's not a cure, but it is a
- 55:08Speaker 1: but you just released or you just said something. That's
- 55:11Speaker 1: sort of a darker side of this is the ethical
- 55:15Speaker 1: concerns of telling someone that their child will only lived
- 55:20Speaker 1: too right, like a vault. I don't know if you
- 55:24Speaker 1: can go down that road, Carlin, I'm gonna start crying.
- 55:26Speaker 1: It's supposed to be a comedy podcast here, you know stuff.
- 55:30Speaker 1: Can you tell them very quickly why you wrote in
- 55:33Speaker 1: and what you're hoping to do? Yes? Go ahead, Yeah,
- 55:35Speaker 1: so actually have cool stuff UM that I wrote in
- 55:38Speaker 1: about Um. This actually worked out really perfectly that I'm
- 55:41Speaker 1: able to be on the show today because I'm celebrating
- 55:43Speaker 1: an anniversary. Happy anniversary, what is it? Thank you? Um?
- 55:48Speaker 1: One month ago today I donated my right kidney to
- 55:51Speaker 1: a stranger. Wow, let me see the scar I have
- 56:01Speaker 1: been flashing everyone. I had to talk to them earlier
- 56:07Speaker 1: about speaking to our co workers in an inappropriate way. No, no, no,
- 56:11Speaker 1: I was talking to you can't asking a woman. You
- 56:14Speaker 1: just meant to show a scar, all right? My dog
- 56:17Speaker 1: is she heard exciting voices and had to look up
- 56:20Speaker 1: and say, Hi, I has a very cute dog. So
- 56:24Speaker 1: we okay, Oh my goodness, Carolin, how did this come about?
- 56:28Speaker 1: It actually came about through my dog actually, when she
- 56:31Speaker 1: is very good timing. She just didn't even know it.
- 56:35Speaker 1: So one of my hobbies is I'm a puppy raiser
- 56:39Speaker 1: for a group called Canon Companions for Independence. And what
- 56:43Speaker 1: I do in my volunteeral is I take in puppies
- 56:46Speaker 1: when they're about eight weeks old. I raised them until
- 56:50Speaker 1: they're about a year and a half to two years old,
- 56:52Speaker 1: and then I do all their basic socialization training. They
- 56:55Speaker 1: go as age appropriate. They go to work with me,
- 56:58Speaker 1: they go to the grocery store with me, they go
- 57:00Speaker 1: on airplanes with me, they go, you know, anywhere I go.
- 57:02Speaker 1: I've always, always, for the last six or so years,
- 57:06Speaker 1: i always have a dog at my side. And so
- 57:09Speaker 1: then at the end of the time that I have them,
- 57:11Speaker 1: I take them into one of our local training centers.
- 57:13Speaker 1: They do six or some months of actual professional training
- 57:16Speaker 1: and then they go off and become service dogs. So
- 57:18Speaker 1: I'm for the blinder for other things. Yeah, So the
- 57:21Speaker 1: group that I'm with, we do Primarily we do mobility dogs,
- 57:25Speaker 1: so for people who have you know, imputations, wheelchair users, etc.
- 57:30Speaker 1: We do hearing dogs for people who are hearing impaired,
- 57:34Speaker 1: but we do not do any seeing I or guide
- 57:38Speaker 1: dogs because there's so many groups out there that do
- 57:40Speaker 1: such a great job with all of that. And so
- 57:43Speaker 1: so you guys filled a spot that was necessary training
- 57:48Speaker 1: service animals that weren't for the blind. Yeah, and so
- 57:51Speaker 1: since I don't do any work with visually impaired service animals,
- 57:56Speaker 1: I follow a bunch of different groups on Facebook, right because,
- 57:58Speaker 1: like I always want to learn about stuff that I'm
- 58:00Speaker 1: not actively. You seem like a pretty angelic human being,
- 58:03Speaker 1: and we already know how this is going to end.
- 58:05Speaker 1: But my ex husband would have something other otherwise. Right now,
- 58:17Speaker 1: I'm down to so my left kidney side note I
- 58:19Speaker 1: have named it Jeffrey Bean Morgan, Jeffrey Bean, nice, Jeffrey Bean. Okay,
- 58:26Speaker 1: so go on, I got it. Get to the point
- 58:30Speaker 1: where you gave a kidney to a stranger. Yeah. So
- 58:34Speaker 1: for a few years now I followed this one group,
- 58:36Speaker 1: this one Facebook page about this woman living in DC
- 58:39Speaker 1: who's got a seeing eye dog, and it's really cool
- 58:42Speaker 1: to read about her adventures and see kind of what
- 58:45Speaker 1: you know, get a glimpse into how somebody else lives.
- 58:48Speaker 1: And then in March, she posted a personal plea from
- 58:53Speaker 1: her personal Facebook page onto the Dog's Facebook page, saying
- 58:57Speaker 1: that she needed a kidney. And you know, it's been
- 59:02Speaker 1: a really shitty couple of years, right, um, And I
- 59:06Speaker 1: don't know, just something about her post just kind of
- 59:08Speaker 1: struck a chord with me. And it was a couple
- 59:11Speaker 1: of days after my thirty ninth birthday, so I was
- 59:13Speaker 1: already in that like, oh my god, I'm about to
- 59:15Speaker 1: turn forty. What am I doing with my life? If
- 59:18Speaker 1: I'd done right done with my brother, it's the quickest
- 59:23Speaker 1: way I can make a difference. How can I fix
- 59:26Speaker 1: twenty twenty one? Yeah, And so there was just a
- 59:31Speaker 1: little link in her post to an online questionnaire, and
- 59:35Speaker 1: I'm like, well, you know, it's like a Tuesday afternoon
- 59:37Speaker 1: or something, and I'm procrastinating from work, and I'm like,
- 59:39Speaker 1: I wonder what kind of questions they can ask you
- 59:41Speaker 1: on an online survey that'll tell you about I don't know,
- 59:45Speaker 1: if you can donate a kidney. I'd never thought about
- 59:47Speaker 1: this before. It's like, like, on the link I fill
- 59:49Speaker 1: that out. I end up passing through the first few
- 59:52Speaker 1: online stages. They sent me mouth swabs. I did a
- 59:54Speaker 1: bunch of mouth swabs, sent those back in, and about
- 59:57Speaker 1: a month later I got a call saying, hey, so
- 59:59Speaker 1: you're a match. Can you come in and do all
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: these crazy medical tests with us? Oh? Yeah, ok so,
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: how how is your relationship with this lady now with
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: this seeing dog? Oh my gosh, so that was really
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: crazy because I mean I didn't even know her real name.
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: I'm sorry I lost one thing. Is she she's a
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: trainer of seeing eye dogs? Or she uses a seeing
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: eye dog? She uses a seeing eye dog? Yes, Oh
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: she's a blind woman. Okay, so that woman is not
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: only blind but is in dire need of a kidney.
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: That's incredible. I have questions, Um, you they must have
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: told you what could go wrong? We've did We did
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: this on scrubs. It can things can go awry for
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: the donor. Um were you nervous about that? You must
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: have been. What was your thinking about that? Do you
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: know what that's so crazy? Is that not once like
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: there was no fear like this. It was just a
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: really empowering and really exciting process. I think you know,
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: because I because I work in the medical field, and
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: part of my job is designing the informed consent documents
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: for our clinical trials, right, so, like I know all
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: of these. I actually also last year I got COVID,
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: and so I joined a clinical trial for people who
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: had COVID because obviously I want to help with that research.
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: So I'm actually still in a clinical trial for something
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: else right now. And they would and they let you,
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: and they let you do the surgery even though even wow,
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: that's amazing, and so how does this how does this
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: affect your clinical trial? Then? Now does this move you
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: into a different level in the clinical trial because now
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: you only have one kidney? Like you know what I mean? Like,
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: I don't know. I guess the clinical trial didn't have
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: anything to do with the kidney having two kidneys. Yeah,
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: it was just a Yeah, it was a monoclonal antibody
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: infusion I got when I was in the hospital after
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: getting COVID, and so that was, yeah, it's completely separate.
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: I'm just in long term follow up. I got the
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: monoclonal antibody back in a January. So how is your
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: life in any way different with one kidney? Do they
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: is there anything you have to do differently or feel
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: differently in the initial post transplant. I mean, I'm at
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: one month today and I'm obviously you look amazing. You
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: look happy. Are you single? You mentioned your ex husband?
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: Are you single? I am single? Oh my goodness. You
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: guys got to date this woman. She's beautiful, she's pretty
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: much a saint. She might give you a kidney. Well,
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: she can't give me. I can tell you where to
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: find one if you do need one. Because now I've
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: been learning so much about this, this community and the
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: donor world, and I mean it's been really really sobering. Um,
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: joining a lot of these support groups and seeing how
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: many people do not have happy endings like this. It's
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: really rare that you meet somebody who's not only in
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: the medical field, but also has donated, uh part of
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: their body too. I could give a kidney to a
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: I mean, I'm sorry, Carol, and I I could give
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: a kidney to a loved one or a family member
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: if they needed it. Um, I don't. I don't know
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: that though. I don't know that I could do a stranger.
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: I mean, you're you're you're a saint. But no, um,
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: you know, because That was a question that a lot
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: of people had for me. You know too, is well,
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: why would you give akidney to a stranger? Why don't
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: you save it for a save it? Right, it's kind
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: of funny. You might need it for a loved one. Yeah,
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: but I've never heard anyone's name like that. That's their
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: own rationalization, though, that's their own rationalization. I would do it,
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: but I'm hanging on to it. Just don't get me wrong.
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: I personally would, but my mother's not looking great. Yeah,
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: but it's great because with this And it's a little
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: different for me because this was considered a directed donation
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: because it was specifically for this one woman. But if
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: I had done it altruistically by just joining the National
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: Kidney Transplant Registry and signing up through there, they have
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: a voucher program. So, Zach, let's say that tomorrow you
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: decide to donate a kidney, get on the registers. What
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: do I get? How much do I get? If you
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: match anybody, you get you get actually a lot of
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: really interesting stuff. But you also get a voucher that
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: can be used for your family, so that if down
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: the line, remember me, what if I need a kidney
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: all the sin. No. I mean I wonder if it's
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: happened that someone's given a kidney like you and then
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: they then their kidneys fucked it absolutely doesn't you end
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: up getting moved to the top of the rich I
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: would hope. So that's like the fast past. You get
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: a fast past, You're okay. Um, if something like that happens,
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: Wait do you get Don't people um sell their kidneys
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: not legally in the US? Um? And that's actually part
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: of like they are the tests that you go through
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: to do this or bunkers. I mean, like I'm healthy,
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: I don't really go to the doctor beyond you know,
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: occasionally annual whatever. But um, oh my god, this is
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: like the first time I did CT scans and all
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: these crazy testing that you have to go through, psychological counseling,
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: you have to go through, yeah, like different financial counseling
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: so that you're fully aware of any and who pays
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: for Sorry sorry to interrupt you because I'm just fascinating,
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: but who who pays for all of this? Are you
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: out of pocket? The Nope, The recipients insurance covers everything.
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: I think in total, I was out of pocket for
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: maybe one hundred dollars worth of stuff, and the only
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: reason for that was there was some I mean, the
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: testing process was long, long, long, and I had I
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: was overdue for a perhaps mirror, and my PCP was
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: super backed up because everybody's overdue or everybody's backed up
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: with everything for COVID right now, and so mad props
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: to play in parenthood because I reached out to them
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: and explained that this was the last thing I needed
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: before I could do this surgery, and they fit me
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: in within a couple of days. Well, that's all I'm
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: getting out of this is that Donald and I aren't
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: good enough people. No, you aren't a good enough person. Really,
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: Why don't you put your ass on the registrar? Then
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: you want me to put my ass on? You want
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: my I want? Yeah, actually would probably take your ass.
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: Can you donate asked cheeks? I mean, mordem you can
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: absolutely donate skin that can be used for skin grafts
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: are similar? No, we said ask no cheek cheek. It's cheek.
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: It's cheek cheek itself. I am unaware of any that's
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: like a scrums fantasy. Actually, like like someone someone says,
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: you can have all my organs and my asked here
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: and my ass cheeks, you know, like front but front front.
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: All right, well, you're incredible. Um, I think we should
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: for the interest of time, skip questions what we could
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: do fix your life if you want? Do you need
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: your life fixed? Or do you have questions? Or do
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: you have questions you could pick? All right, all right,
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: all right, um, you know I did have some questions,
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: but again in the interest of time. So my recipient
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: was supposed to join today and least minute, she wasn't
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: able to, which was super disappointing. We met for the
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: first time less than twelve hours before surgery. I mean
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: it was, well, you you almost programmed the best show ever.
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: You got like eighty percent of the way there. So well, Joelle,
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: I give you eighty percent props. Thank you. Okay. He
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: was super, super super disappointed she wasn't able to make this,
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: But she did ask me to share one thing, well,
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: use my remaining time for this, which is that she
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: was really fortunate in that she had this social media
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: network where she was able to put out a call
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: for a kidney and a stranger saw it, right, Because
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: she's got a pretty decent social media presence, But there's
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: so many people out there who who don't right right,
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: and there is such just drastic, drastic inequality against um
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: with transplant transplant in general, with the differences between deceased
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: donor donations against like what I did, which is a
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: obviously living organ donation. And so her big call is
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: just for people to think about ways to make the
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: transplant process more inclusive and equitable for both recipients and donors.
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: And thinking that, I mean, the numbers are staggering. Fourteen
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: people join the National Transplant Registry every day, twenty Americans
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: die from kidney disease waiting for a transplant every day.
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: The average weight for transplant is three to eight years,
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: and during that three to eight years, you are on
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: dialysis day in, day out. I mean, it is okay.
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: So how can people who are as saintly as you
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: who want to do this where do they go to register? Yeah?
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: You can go to kidney dot org. That's a National
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: Kidney Foundation website, or you can go to just Kidney
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: Registry dot org. You can learn loads more about the process.
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: And I totally get it. I'm so fortunate that I
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: was able to do this because I don't have any kids, right,
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: I just have two dogs and a cat, right, so
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: I didn't have to worry about caring for somebody during
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: my recovery. I have an amazing employer. Shout out to
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: Tim Miller, who gave me all the time off that
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: I needed. I was actually back at work within a
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: week because I was feeling really good. But somebody who
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: gave me paid time off and all the space I needed.
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: Also for all of my appointments, etc. Everything leading up
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: to this, Like this, stars just aligned perfectly that I'm
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: in a place where I was not negatively impacted financially, physically, emotionally, psychologically, whatever,
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: that I had such an amazing support system across the board. Yeah,
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: and most people are amazing. I have to keep mind
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: in case something. I'm mister donald, but I do think
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: that a lot of people should sign up for this
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: at kidney dot org or Kidney Registry dot org. Absolutely, Carolyn,
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: I you know you do so much for so many people.
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: I hope I have. I hope you have a lot
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: of someone out there that's doing something. Is yes, are
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: you on one of the dating apps? Maybe we can
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: set you up. I'm not doing it to get her
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: a date, dude, I'm just saying mention maybe there's another
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: but maybe, but maybe that's not what she's looking for. Bro.
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: I'm just saying, everybody, I just hope you have somebody
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: in your life or some a group of people or
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: friends in your life that are as supportive as you
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: are for complete strangers. Yo, you are an amazing person.
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: I think you are awesome, Carolyn. For really, I've got
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: I have an amazing support group. And also, you know,
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: the puppy raising community is really really tight, and so
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: all of the other puppy raizors in town have been
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: bringing me food and taking my dog. Isn't you know?
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: I have like a Hallmark movie, Donald Donald and are
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: going to sell this to Hallmark. We'll cut you in.
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: It's like a Christmas movie, How my Dog saved that
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: everything you need. It's got a beautiful woman giving her
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: kidney to a blind stranger and puppies. Yeah, and a
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: comical moment with a dog. Yeah yeah, lots of comical
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: moments with the dog. I'm just waiting. We're hoping to
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: go visit the recipient this weekend. Will be the first
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: time we've seen each other since the transplant. I can't
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: wait to you guys. A friend and you can stop
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: calling her the recipient. You know what, I'm honestly just
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: doing that because we're on here and she's not here,
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: so I wasn't comfortable using her name just because she's
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: she's not here. But well, if she hears this, if
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: she hears this, um uh, we are so happy that
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: you're doing well and so happy that there are people
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: like Carolyn out there who who are saints on earth.
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: I think one thing you can do is make sure
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: that you're on the organ donor list. Um, unless of
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: that's against your religious beliefs, of course, but I really
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: you can. You can make sure it's usually on your
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: driver's license if if you were to die, and they
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: can harvest and save lots of lives with your organs,
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: and unlike scrubs, they most likely won't have rabies in them,
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: and they'll test them first before they just don't amount. Yeah,
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: yeah absolutely, um, you know post mortem organ donation there.
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: Everybody can out of my kidney when I die, both
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: of your kidneys, not just the one. Yeah, everything, you
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: can take everything. Just leave my hair. I want I
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: want my hair anyway. I know, dude, I'm not an idiot.
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: Come on, it's kind of fallout anyway, didn't you see
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: goonies Zach Chester Copper Pot had no hair left? All right? Yeah,
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: I love it all right, Carolin, thank you so much
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: for coming on the show. We really appreciate you absolutely,
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: Thanks for thanks for letting me on and letting me
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: share this story about living organ donation. It's been a
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: true life changer for me, and hopefully this will inspire
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: some of your listeners. I bet it will. I bet.
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: I bet you just made a big difference in a
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: lot of people's lives because this show gets hurt all
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: around the world, and I bet you inspired other people
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: to do the same. I don't know if you know this, Carolin,
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: but we're really popular, pot. Yeah, we're very huge. That
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: was a humble brags on up podcast. I missed the
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: live episode last week, but I watched how Dare You?
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: But that is literally the only episode I have missed
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: since March of last year. Yeah. Wow, Well that all right.
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: Thank you so much for coming on. Be healthy, take
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: care of bye. Wow. Wow, dude, we're not good enough people,
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: all right. I gotta get my shit together, dude. With
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: the amount of doctors that you guys have inspired over
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: the years, with the show and the amount of lives
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: that those people have inevitably saved with your influence, and
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: maybe Carolyn just inspired people who do have the courage
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: to do something like that. Yes, yeah, how's that is
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: an amazing woman. She saves children right like, it's like,
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: but that's that's the that's the thing, that's the thing,
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: that's It's like, you're already doing good work, you had
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: to step it up another notch. Listen, everything everything she
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: does is amazing. Yeah. Everything she when she's not working
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: on helping to find cures for rare pediatric diseases, she's
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: training puppies for handicapped people. Truly, and when she's not
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: doing that movie is gonna be fire. Dude, let's due.
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: Oh my god, it's got three things, It's got puppies,
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: it's got babies. I think Amanda clues could player? I agree? Yes,
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: because Aman, it's an Amanda cludes Hallmark movie. Bam, let's
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: do it done? And doesn't want to see that? Joel Joell,
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: you we mentioned at pitching can you go pitch Hallmark?
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: We just did. We just did Hallmark. We got the
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: movie for we need a Hallmark. We often have Harmark
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: movie ideas. We need a Hallmark executive to be listening
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: to the show, because they're we're just pitching them free shits.
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: I hired at gmail dot com Comark and yeah, I listen.
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: I don't want you stealing our ideas. If I see
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: this story on Hallmark, I to me, Hallmark, you're dead
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: to Lifetime. Casey cobbol watched the ship out of this
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: movie on Hallmark, especially if it stars a man includes
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: all right, guys, that's our very rocky show. We love
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: you very much. Donald My six seven eights about Shore
