- 0:41Welcome back to hamster with a blunt.
- 0:43Penknife the 1930s, sci-fi commentary, Pas De Casa.
- 0:48We are going all out with the Space Opera And discussing.
- 0:52Everyone's favorite story from 1969.
- 0:55The dominators I am back with my two cool hosts.
- 0:59First up, is the one and only mr.
- 1:01Joe for to say, hello, Joe. Hello, Joe.
- 1:04It's always nice to get that little object guide yourself.
- 1:07Okay? All right, and we are joined by
- 1:10Our second, very special guest. It's not sigh hard for one, but
- 1:15for senior say it is the one and only quickie the quarks you keep
- 1:23it down. This thing, bless you.
- 1:27Fraser, what's that? Oh, did you really just said
- 1:30there? I didn't.
- 1:31He said, I'll buy you the Dominator.
- 1:33Oh, well, you must be the one in charge here.
- 1:36Well, you know, will come will come to that later.
- 1:38Don't know. Who is in charge which In it.
- 1:40There is the well, there's a lot to talk about there, you know,
- 1:44and I think, Rusty Davis was paying attention to this story,
- 1:47you know, because there's a bit of a child between this pair.
- 1:50Oh, absolutely, yeah. They're they're face-to-face at
- 1:53some points. Yeah.
- 1:55Unfortunately their enormous breasts plays means, they can't
- 1:57be entirely based the face. That's a hell of a costume in
- 2:01here that hashtag dominant at. It's a thing that might be
- 2:05hashtag dominated since. Yeah.
- 2:07I mean, this is it a bit much? And what the the cost rate, you
- 2:16know, it's not fair. Its imposing, I'll say that it's
- 2:19not. It goes back to what we said
- 2:20about the dulcian costumes last time in it's a deliberate
- 2:26attempt to make something a bit different.
- 2:28So it's not just, you know, walk standard, you know, aliens in,
- 2:34trousers, and shirts, and whatnot.
- 2:36It's, you know, this is an alien culture needs to look very
- 2:39different from anything we've done on.
- 2:40Before. And so, they've given them the
- 2:43tops and trousers with the Flappy B on, I still can't
- 2:47remember what that remains is of this.
- 2:48Another Sci-Fi show, that I've seen something very similar to
- 2:51that, in which I can't quite place.
- 2:54I mean, I'm sorry phrase about anyone looks like a hippie in
- 2:56this. It's those dominators for those
- 2:58flared trousers with all the paper on it.
- 3:01Yeah, the shoulder pads. But I think that that's that,
- 3:04that color really works as well and because it means that, you
- 3:09know, the do Have to be face to face for a confrontation.
- 3:12It means that the don't, you know, you can't just have one of
- 3:16them turn their head together. They've got turn the whole body,
- 3:18take Batman your back, man, in the movies.
- 3:21Apart from Christian Beal, can't move his head.
- 3:24Sunk like decide. He has to move his entire body
- 3:27in those early films in the dominant, as exactly the same
- 3:30they've got turn to face each other.
- 3:31They have to give a certain type of performance induced you.
- 3:35Yeah, they don't think my daddy performance is much, Ability to
- 3:40be nuanced as a dominator. I think, maybe that's not the
- 3:44point. I mean, I think there is because
- 3:47when they aren't facing each other, that's where the new ones
- 3:49to comes. We have because we haven't
- 3:52talked about them at the middle but Ronald Allen Ronald Allen.
- 3:55Yeah, is does great work where he is kind of like coming up the
- 4:00ship and that he's he's talking with kind of values but you
- 4:03know, he's the subordinate so he doesn't look at them and that
- 4:06that whole I can't just turn and look at him.
- 4:10Would have to turn me full body. That really adds to that.
- 4:12They're sort of like, the one in charge, the you stand behind me,
- 4:15are you stand the sight of me? And I'm not giving it a look at
- 4:17your. Well, I'm giving you orders
- 4:18because you are beneath me to about you up any smile of people
- 4:22say, if the other fellow is got the suppressed rage, I think is
- 4:26Ronald Allen is waiting to burst.
- 4:28Oh, yeah, area. That is empty.
- 4:30He's to simmer in a way as and you think he reminds me of you
- 4:34ever been to a convention, No. Okay.
- 4:37You get the older Doctor Who fans a bit more experience and
- 4:40then you get the tempestuous younger Doctor Who fans, you
- 4:43know, who, you know, feel like they've got a shout, the loudest
- 4:46and their opinion. That's gotta be heard, you know,
- 4:49and the older ones until I've got my opinion now.
- 4:51I know I'm thinking, I thought this is the dynamic between the
- 4:54two dominates. You know, I've seen it a few
- 4:56times where there just look at them going on our girls.
- 4:58Let's let him talk. Yeah.
- 5:01Bless all so which are you at the convention then are you to
- 5:05about our Regal fucking Doctor Who podcast?
- 5:08Which one do you think I am? Honestly my opinions heard far
- 5:11and wide you're the your quickie actually I'm The Quiet One you
- 5:15know because Jason Thompson made a comment when we were in a room
- 5:21with Fraser Hines, right? And it was only a small
- 5:23gathering of people and we would it was a live commentary of Tomb
- 5:30of the Cybermen. Yeah.
- 5:31And Oz was just talking for out it to you know a select few of
- 5:35us and then the room got open out two questions.
- 5:38Well, who is the you know the master of asking questions
- 5:42during their commentary that would be you are in sale word
- 5:47and Jason Thompson made a point of saying.
- 5:50I'm really surprised that the person who asked so many
- 5:52questions doing commentary, podcast did not happen and
- 5:55that's because I actually I'm quite quiet in a group setting
- 6:00like that either doing it. One on one with you.
- 6:02This easiest thing in the world, but yeah.
- 6:04So I think I am actually, the choir fact who is kind of a
- 6:08short with what I think, but I don't feel the need to stamp all
- 6:13over anybody. Unless I'm doing this for you to
- 6:16see your the Dominate and not the probationer.
- 6:19That's right. Okay, I'll write that in my
- 6:22book. I should just write that down.
- 6:24Yes, honestly, I expect sex gags from you.
- 6:27You know, what should we dive into?
- 6:31In to episode two. Well yes since we are talking
- 6:33about four years of Haines and live commentaries will probably
- 6:35should watch reassigned to do a live commentary on it because
- 6:38I've got some really good stuff coming up here.
- 6:40So would you like to count this any weapons or two?
- 6:42I would I would click. He's just gone for a little
- 6:44lie-down you know. Yeah, the batteries have last
- 6:46long, the really don't know, I mean I couldn't be worse but
- 6:50they exhaust what they do in this as well.
- 6:52Their power just drops down every two minutes.
- 6:56Always go around shooting things.
- 6:57That's why okay, I'll count as enjoy go on.
- 7:01In 5, 4, 3 2 1. Let's go.
- 7:09I always think people will say I'm wrong, but I was seeing,
- 7:12Patrick troughton looks a bit Sinister you know in this title
- 7:14sequence the way he comes out of that Venetian, it does rain
- 7:18Janice zoom out and then just melt away, doesn't it?
- 7:20It's a bit. But it doesn't like a kindly
- 7:22Uncle than a twenty materializes.
- 7:25He does look Fraser, just talks about Patrick troughton story
- 7:30before. Have we only we've talked about
- 7:31it on 91, but not enhanced are no good.
- 7:34Will we did was we did the two doctors?
- 7:36We're sorry. Now, Ivan has a very different
- 7:40second doctor. It is the second doctor in this.
- 7:43Yeah, yeah, definitely. So then would you care to
- 7:47enlighten me of where trout and falls for you m?
- 7:54That's a very good question because I haven't got a very
- 7:57quick answer. That is what you write him?
- 8:01Oh, I'm sorry. Yes.
- 8:02Absolutely. I mean that's a thing of this no
- 8:04doctor that I don't wait. There's just some of it more
- 8:06than others, if that makes sense.
- 8:08So, you know, someone like Matt Smith is right at the top of the
- 8:10pile. You know, Tom big as up there as
- 8:14well. Patrick troughton would have to
- 8:17come sort of top off. I would say, I think in my top
- 8:23three batch of town. I mean, the problem I get is
- 8:26that once you start ranking them, you start getting towards
- 8:29the bottom and then just start your filter.
- 8:32Why any feels unfair as well? Doesn't it?
- 8:34It, you just went out with steam because you then you see my life
- 8:36don't want to see, you don't know.
- 8:39Chris. That's another form of down
- 8:40because they just haven't done as much as the others was.
- 8:43Yeah, you know you know you know they are a big fan of big finish
- 8:46so their day wracking it up, you know, I know Leo.
- 8:50You know, it's just so it's always fluid as well.
- 8:53So you know on a certain day I'm going to be like I want to watch
- 8:55a Pertwee and another day I'm going to be at, you know, what
- 8:58can't be doing with him just being a dick to everyone.
- 9:00So it is quite fluid. But Patrick Nagel absolutely
- 9:04rate. I think he did such an amazing
- 9:07job and coming in And season 4 when he did and be in the new
- 9:12doctor because without him doing that, we've got no sure, for
- 9:18sure. You know, if you think back
- 9:20season season 3 is again at another massively troubled, year
- 9:26of production, you've got You've got producers in script, right?
- 9:32Doesn't companions coming and going like we've got Prime
- 9:34Ministers and chancellors in the home secretaries at the minute
- 9:38and but I do think the most extraordinary creative things
- 9:41happen in season 3, as old as the show passes for all those
- 9:45different hands. But do you know, it's it's
- 9:48doesn't disappoint in that respect and bought, you know
- 9:53what you do? Get is by the time.
- 9:54William aren't a leaves, is that the show is very much kind of on
- 9:58its up as in your think it Needs something.
- 10:01Now it needs, it needs that little just the Assurance of a
- 10:05lead that kind of remember his lights and that's not Sly on
- 10:09heart know who I think is incredible.
- 10:11That he will feel like it's no go away from me.
- 10:14Absolutely. But you know, if you look back
- 10:15to even today one, you know, he's line readings aren't, you
- 10:20know, 100% accurate, but it doesn't matter because now you
- 10:24can make it part of his character, Genius of it.
- 10:27Absolutely, if you think about it, you think sort of You know,
- 10:31who does talk like that? Who does get everything rate
- 10:33every single time. I'm tripping over my words left,
- 10:36right and Center. Well, that's what's great about
- 10:37this podcast. It's not edited to hell like
- 10:39some of them. It's not you know this is an
- 10:42undiluted Fraser Gregory. Exactly and use.
- 10:45That's what you get with toddlers.
- 10:47Doctor is, you know, well obviously you know, Ian
- 10:49Chesterton comes in and it's perfectly acceptable from the
- 10:54column charlatan are charlatan or you know a few times until he
- 10:59gets to Norm better until he It's to kind of appreciate them
- 11:01but you know, when we get to sort of, you know, there was
- 11:05that last recording block of the season 3 those last few to
- 11:09stories you know, on the production on wanting them there
- 11:12as well. You know, his health is it's
- 11:15kind of like the mutual. We need to kind of get out of
- 11:17this. It's getting a bit toxic.
- 11:19What they were looking for Creative reasons to do that when
- 11:24I was at least a current. Exactly, you could have happened
- 11:28totally them. But for then ago, Right?
- 11:30So we're going to recast the star of the show completely,
- 11:36it's going to be a completely different person.
- 11:38It's not even going to be like a mind rubber where we're going to
- 11:41try and bring someone in. It looks a bit like them and
- 11:43they like bring like which are turned on in our stomach.
- 11:46We're going to go all out and we're going to completely
- 11:48change. The character will have a space
- 11:51reason for doing it, but we don't really understand that.
- 11:53So we're not going to dwell on that cruise fudge that a little
- 11:56bit. They can fill that in later in
- 11:57the 80s. Exactly.
- 12:01You know, so the very reliant on Patrick troughton being able to
- 12:03come in and win over the audience and say seeing them.
- 12:06Yes, I am Doctor Who know and it's a ratings success in those
- 12:11early. Travis, I hate solve a million
- 12:14again, it's on the rise but, you know, Falls.
- 12:17Like I feel like fours like a gestation period where and I
- 12:19think it's the longest gestation period of any doctor I've ever
- 12:23hear of find sort of settling on.
- 12:25And it happens around sort of the macro Terror, the moon base.
- 12:28Yeah, 5e then It's a formula that can kind of relax into and
- 12:33be super confident in. That's all based on this.
- 12:36That's why I like six because you've got the very self-assured
- 12:39performance of Patrick troughton that who knows how to do this
- 12:43and then you've got the sort of diverse genres and think.
- 12:49Yeah. They're playing about with and
- 12:51the different styles of Storytelling include at this.
- 12:53This wouldn't really have hittin Season 5, I don't think it
- 12:58doesn't. It doesn't fit the formula.
- 12:59It's not amazing to see each piece Under Siege, but I think
- 13:03Planet Under Siege. No, it doesn't make the formula
- 13:06but again, that's not a bad thing because it's great, you
- 13:10know, do need that variety. That bit of a mix to keep us.
- 13:13Keep us entertained, but what you get is, you know, you have
- 13:16that season for where we find his feet, you then get season 5,
- 13:20which other formulaic is got him and freezer Hines.
- 13:25And they were all egg Debbie warbling.
- 13:28Yeah. Magic together up its magic
- 13:30together. It's the chemistry between the
- 13:32three of them is. Yeah.
- 13:34And then you get season 6 where everyone's gone, but then you
- 13:37get Putters in when you Padre comes in and that magic is still
- 13:40there. That chemistry is already
- 13:42familiar theme about it is I love the arrogance of Zoe and I
- 13:47like how she's Arrogant with both Jamie and the doctor.
- 13:50Absolutely. We need a woman like that, you
- 13:52know, we do. But what happens by Time.
- 13:55You got to season 6 and fortunate.
- 13:57Is that Patron is now being flogged to death.
- 14:01Yeah, and I think there's the finances are running a bit dry
- 14:04as well, finances age, but dry at getting.
- 14:07Again, the production side of things is starting to weaken a
- 14:10bit as you know, like, say ten sticks is up-and-coming and
- 14:14Derek, Sherman are open, come and but the others are kind of
- 14:18got one eye on other things. And it's, it's running out of
- 14:22steam. You can tell that by the time
- 14:24you get to like seeds, Of death and in the space.
- 14:27Well, we're going to talk about that.
- 14:28All right, we are that's a very broad opinion.
- 14:31Somehow, you know, maybe maybe 2025 get around to that one over
- 14:36there, you know, you can even tell it in this one, you know,
- 14:39because he's not on location, you know, he's had the kind of
- 14:43backed down from location and the doctor and the Tardis team
- 14:49don't arrive until five minutes into the story.
- 14:51A space pirates, they barely finisher there.
- 14:53They lie in, that's the six. They aronian filmed inserts in
- 14:57episode 66 Bar at their best in six, your mind Robert, the war
- 15:04Games, The Invasion. Nothing is gold is absolutely
- 15:08something. Even with them, you know,
- 15:11Running on Fumes the Productions were done on fumes, the Tardis
- 15:15team owner fumes of what is keeping the shore together and
- 15:18limps it as it were towards the war games and towards its next
- 15:21big. You know, shot me on Boost is
- 15:25Patrick troughton. Yeah yeah and that chemistry has
- 15:28with razor Hines and with Wendy Marberry, if there's 100 left in
- 15:32the seeds of death, you know, it would say the show would just
- 15:35stumble I've done over here. I don't know.
- 15:37I think, I think troughton and peppery do wonderful things when
- 15:42they're on their own together with the not afford, another
- 15:45companion in at that point though, possibly, although be a
- 15:47bit weird for a couple of stories, wouldn't it?
- 15:49It would, I can't think it would create it.
- 15:52Works out for the best. That's a lie that it did.
- 15:56You know, sorry I knew that was going to be a big question.
- 15:58I was going to take off. I threw the episode talking
- 16:00about Pet Shop Boys. A big topic of conversation
- 16:02topic. Yeah, I want to talk about the
- 16:05design very quickly. Yep.
- 16:07Because I think the design of the Dominator spaceship, it's
- 16:10one of the best designs of any spaceship.
- 16:13It's brilliant. Isn't it all those funky weird
- 16:17visuals going on the wall? You know, very very 1960s.
- 16:21Yeah. And do you know what's the best
- 16:23thing is that little display? All the different quarks that
- 16:29turn off when they yeah but it's got lots of other little quotes
- 16:36as well. Like the way they get stuck to
- 16:38the walls, took them all and then let me see the haven't got
- 16:41the money too short a wall sliding so it's just done by
- 16:45cameras. Well, I despise a hides his face
- 16:48go. This is Barry Newberry, isn't
- 16:53it? And he did some extraordinary.
- 16:55In the sixties, we're now in the city and you've got a saint in
- 16:58the backdrop, you've got these weird egg-shaped chairs
- 17:02happiness, Seascape. I mean, is you've got full,
- 17:05you've got the plants, you've got sort of like the curtains
- 17:07behind in, you've got them sitting with these sort of
- 17:10flowing dress. That quote, it's very Greek.
- 17:13It's very saw the ancient Greek. Yeah.
- 17:15You know which speaks back to you know if you think like in
- 17:18late and cultures you think the Greeks you think you know what,
- 17:22haven't just got. You know, Posh boys.
- 17:24Now what I've got planned in the Wisconsin's just sitting around
- 17:26talking, we've got Greek philosophers.
- 17:28That's the kind of angle like it's coming out.
- 17:31So, but, you know, you can't just put them in a robe.
- 17:34On a tour guide, you have actually got to do something
- 17:36Spacey. So you have space to Olga which
- 17:38unfortunate does look a bit like addressing a curtain mixed
- 17:42together. It does about like, you know, I
- 17:44don't think they're particularly philosophizing, they basically
- 17:48just sitting around, you know, pontificating.
- 17:50Yeah. What I love about it is that
- 17:52Feller always goes, you know, it doesn't matter whose Coming in
- 17:55is Zoe and Kelly or even if it's the Dominator he goes.
- 18:00Excuse me. Have you got an appointment?
- 18:02Yeah it is. It's that again, it's that sort
- 18:08of like hubris of like you can't invade our planet without proper
- 18:12Pete but there's someone else you say that.
- 18:21You know, this comedy show. This is this is brilliant.
- 18:24This is also how to play like a dumbass.
- 18:31He does it so well but it's you know because it's kind of
- 18:38There's a little bit less salty in this.
- 18:40One than there is another is another story.
- 18:42He does have that sort of like I am the clown.
- 18:45You will underestimate me but you know that would be to your
- 18:49downfall. So I think it's it's made a lot
- 18:51more explicit in this your right as he is doing is always there
- 18:54present in those? Yeah worries.
- 18:56Yeah. But it's a bit subtle.
- 18:57Are there almost like mocking it?
- 18:59Here are my but yeah yeah it is great.
- 19:02Like and what's great is one of the dominators thinks oh my God
- 19:05they're figure shit. This pair and the other one
- 19:08Ronald Allen's ones like nah their players, Willis is it but
- 19:13the part that was a scene where the Scan and Jamie, haven't had
- 19:19the scan Jimmy in these like, just well, well, yeah, he's
- 19:23quite normal. I'm sure sign of Rapid, you
- 19:27know, learning and that sort of thing.
- 19:31And then the scan one of the Dolphins later on, don't the the
- 19:34same of that and the go, all this one's got too hot.
- 19:41You know, it's like, oh, well, through the sky on Jamie.
- 19:43Like, should Whisk on the doctor.
- 19:44Now, there's no point. The, what we see, just the same
- 19:47because, you know, he's doing that.
- 19:50Act and then the scan as they don't know.
- 19:52You've got too hot and you're like, oh well, what would have
- 19:55happened if that's can the doctor, then, at that point.
- 19:59Wow. You know, either maybe Robert I
- 20:01was paying attention. Well, this is it it's either the
- 20:07the too hot thing comes in there and we'll see all the doctors
- 20:11physiology is different or the whole tooth hot things never
- 20:16happens. The Hall of Doctor Who you know
- 20:18that's Razor. And I see you, entice me.
- 20:23That's really innocent. But then all, look at this.
- 20:26I'm sorry to interrupt the doctor, Jerry Holden has a
- 20:29jumping up the that. I mean, our pay good money just
- 20:33to watch trowel and hides goofing around like this.
- 20:36But it is very, very fun. It is the bit where he's having
- 20:38to do the puzzle and he's getting electric shocks it
- 20:42because he's not getting it, right?
- 20:43And he knows he can't get it right, because he's trying to
- 20:45pretend. He's thick.
- 20:47It's really great. She's beautiful.
- 20:52And I wasn't she, she is. But then you have that bit where
- 20:55put your toppings like in prison, he ends up being sort of
- 20:58like Dynamic and one of Ireland's just stood there being
- 21:01so still and menacing and but yeah.
- 21:06So at the Talon did you say Talyn is that onion can do
- 21:12candle? Yeah, beautiful.
- 21:15Yeah, absolutely, beautiful. I thought I'm not sure this
- 21:18planet is particularly strong representative for women, but
- 21:24it's better than the planets will get in sort of like
- 21:27Hinchcliffe. Oh yeah, you're all even in even
- 21:31in so where there's a vague suggestion that women have died
- 21:35out in the future, you know? And then I just climbed.
- 21:38Yeah, You always very strange seeing traveling with a gun.
- 21:44Yeah, isn't it? Because they even when he has
- 21:46that, that weapon in the seeds of death is, you know, it's a
- 21:49whole real lash-up. But why is all around his neck
- 21:51and things like that, or with these these two bin Lids table.
- 21:55Look at you say, though, I think it's the killing people.
- 21:58I don't know. Really, he's so cheeky.
- 22:04I think Ronald Allen nose the whole time.
- 22:09Ronald Allen's play in, this is Frankenstein's monster.
- 22:15Yeah, you know, I don't need the credit will be here to look for
- 22:18that sort of point because you know, till we're done, done a
- 22:23comment on this in. You know, always points out how
- 22:27cadaverous the dominant as look especially Cinema makeup, as
- 22:30well as like this thick sort of Miracle under the eyes eyes,
- 22:34which is exactly what they did with them with Boris Karloff in
- 22:39Frankenstein movie, back in the 30s or he's kind of playing it
- 22:43very much that sort of Like stiff lumbering.
- 22:49And yeah, I think that probably is quite freaky in his watching.
- 22:55You know, and he does get angry. But really, I'm not going to
- 22:58call as before was one. No, because I don't think it is
- 23:01and you only have to watch that bastard's of death to see what
- 23:04an incredible actor is. Because it's very diverse, very,
- 23:07different role from this. I think he's doing a really good
- 23:09job in. This is why, because the little
- 23:11could be Stillness, isn't it? It's the statuesque - I think
- 23:16I've just made up that word. No, no, it's a word or there's
- 23:19no. It's the other guy, Kenneth Ives
- 23:24who is And I will sit down. Don't think either too much,
- 23:28whatever level up in the bridge between this?
- 23:29Okay. Well then let's have a little.
- 23:31Look at his eye of DP. You did pass away.
- 23:33Quite recently wasn't too long ago that we lost kind of those.
- 23:38I also say again, the physical effects and this thing of really
- 23:41impressive, they just fired that gun and massive lump on the wall
- 23:45blew out. The I'm Patrick troughton's.
- 23:47Hate the people think Sylvester McCoy, looks impressively cool.
- 23:52When he walks away from the ring in The second acts.
- 23:56Yes, Howard barely blinked yourself.
- 24:00No, but this is a story that's criticized for its look alike.
- 24:03It is yeah, it's a lot more stylish than people giving the
- 24:05previous and what you need to remember is it's we're seeing a
- 24:10black and white but when you look at the photos and it was
- 24:13all in color, I mean that dominate our ships all sort of
- 24:16greens and purples and there's a lot more color going on in here
- 24:20that we just can't see but so far.
- 24:22Yeah we've talked about like, vast cityscapes.
- 24:25We've talked about location work, big explosions.
- 24:29Is a bit of money and this was done the tail end of, I wasn't
- 24:32it. I know this one is 6, so the
- 24:34money was a little dry at this point.
- 24:36Yeah, it was determined. That would do this one and the
- 24:38main robber together. And then when it is, look at
- 24:41that fabulous, monorail behinds over there, honestly, I can see
- 24:45a train shooting off, or I can also say a boom mic on the
- 24:47backdrop and then might it's a space, make SPS, right?
- 24:56Yeah, that's right. Well, the know because they're
- 24:58talking a Oh, in this chamber. They need the mics up there.
- 25:01Just to do throw their voices. Oh, she's like these.
- 25:05These little trains. They go in.
- 25:09What's a shuttle Patrol craft store?
- 25:10So, is that going along? The what we just saw there, the
- 25:13chod, it's an actual like trouble.
- 25:16So it's, like, a proper like awkward just style, do actually
- 25:19see it, fly it. Yeah.
- 25:20It was it flying. I think we've talked over that
- 25:22bit again because the have to crush it later on because they
- 25:26realize that they're in the the shuttlecraft go.
- 25:29Back to Tools in Central and say, oh well, it's going to be
- 25:34like, dominators in Crocs are so they have to kind of like, Jimmy
- 25:39has to dangle the doctor by his feet.
- 25:41Oh, that's physical. Comedy is best as well that hair
- 25:44and there's a bit where he's tearing out all the circuitry at
- 25:47all. That.
- 25:48Yeah, that that I could from what I hear trying was a little
- 25:51bit unkind about this script and said yeah this one it is not the
- 25:54best of done but you can see is literally putting in Hundred and
- 25:59fifty percent yours is entertaining.
- 26:01As I think he's trying even harder here though, always does.
- 26:04And that's what I say about season 6 is that it is just
- 26:07fueled by by him and and freezer.
- 26:12And when d-pad Bri that they just keep this going and they
- 26:17keep it going to longer than and it turns out better than it.
- 26:21Probably should have done because of glue them through
- 26:24this cork design. Yeah, yeah, I want to talk about
- 26:29The sort of childlike and almost comic look of the quarks.
- 26:37I don't mean that as a criticism because I think this is leaning
- 26:41into the same sort of thing that they do with the troll doll in
- 26:45Terror of the autons. Yeah, and it's something the
- 26:47doctor who does extremely well. I think a lot people can look
- 26:49back on classical and go all those things just look fucking
- 26:52ridiculous. But kids were scared of this
- 26:56stuff at the time and I think the in Lawrence of something,
- 27:00absurd. Looking that actually?
- 27:03Yeah, you could laugh at here, you know what?
- 27:05It's going to blow your face off.
- 27:06Yep. I think that's really effective
- 27:09when you put the when you drop. Suppose two things yeah.
- 27:12Yeah, absolutely. It's it is that thing of
- 27:15something that does look and sounds childish as well?
- 27:19You know, it sounds cute. It looks cute, but he's
- 27:22definitely it Sinister though. Yeah, absolutely.
- 27:25Childlike voice sometimes when quick, he's coming down the
- 27:27corridor in Iraq. Hideaway.
- 27:30Yeah. No I think I think it's it's a
- 27:35clever a design than I ever gave her credit for.
- 27:37I just used to say I was just an egg box and gonna but I actually
- 27:40think it's visually appealing to children because of its
- 27:43Simplicity. Yeah it was I'll see how we're
- 27:46going to scan them now and see the too hot but it's another
- 27:51lovely shot, his hair Elixir, you know, walking around, you
- 27:55know, not just kind of stuck that you would have with like
- 27:57maybe zadar. Look, no, because you can't move
- 28:00it around all the tanks or But yeah, there's something about
- 28:04the Flappy arms as well coming out the quarks because I think
- 28:07that's something the kids can easily imitate.
- 28:09You can be a quark Gallery with your Flappy Arms.
- 28:13This is where we need say hot with these Taylor youth of how
- 28:17he used to play a Crocs in the playground.
- 28:19Is that true? I would imagine.
- 28:20So yeah I would imagine so so we're not in is not here today
- 28:25yet. So I'm going to say that
- 28:26actually happened in the wake of him being here.
- 28:29We'll just say that's true. That's true.
- 28:31Well used to go around Bit of string pretending, it was
- 28:33canine, you know, it's so cute. It just melts my heart every
- 28:39time he talks about, I'll look at these calls walking on
- 28:43occasion. They must look terrible trouble.
- 28:45You know, but again, you know, it's, you can get them out on
- 28:49location. If you think, you know what
- 28:51they're doing, Destiny of the Daleks to get qua.
- 28:54Daleks on you wish there was quarks.
- 28:56Imagine if that starlets versus quacks at night, instead of that
- 28:59would be an amazing ones. It Yeah, to get those Daleks in
- 29:04that quarry there, you can see the legs of the people, walking
- 29:07self-esteem Quarry of. I just made that lies very
- 29:11possible, the new all within, you know, the M25.
- 29:15Yeah, that sort of ring-road. I think that or think it's one,
- 29:19you can go and visit. So I think it is still a workin
- 29:23Quarry. So you can't, like you.
- 29:24Let me just turn up. And go, is it Gerald's cross
- 29:27where they did to of the son of man?
- 29:28Is it there and maybe that one? Yeah, I think it movie because
- 29:31actually, it looks very laudable, it's sort of reddish.
- 29:35Yeah, it looks more to me than than Destiny, just feelings more
- 29:39lucky than it's like a pebbly salt.
- 29:41Quarry. Do we believe Kali as this sort
- 29:44of teenage? It's that was supposed to be.
- 29:51It's supposed to be like he's not playing the James Dean
- 29:54character. I think he's more clear in the
- 29:55Bruce Willis character is more. The older sort of And person
- 30:02he's not like young and full of vim and vitality.
- 30:06What he is sort of like more mature and but still because of
- 30:11the way this Society is you know, 30 odd year old man is
- 30:14still the rebel youth. You know what I mean?
- 30:18You look at these data who's the council leader and he's
- 30:22considerably older so I think that's just the way the society
- 30:25is. It's it's like like Hobbits, you
- 30:27know, the Gage. Lastly think is an effective
- 30:33performers? I don't disbelieve are for Cox
- 30:36in the roll. Yeah, I think it's, you know,
- 30:39you've got to look at the society.
- 30:40Anything well, where is that, you know, John McClane going to
- 30:44come from? Where, where do they get that?
- 30:47The person that is going to be running up and down Hills
- 30:49lobbing grenades at quarks. It's not necessarily going to be
- 30:53a teenager. It is going to be I think
- 30:57people, I think people have a bit a trouble that like they
- 30:59kind of feel like it should be. Yeah, instead of this sort of
- 31:02middle-aged overweight, it's not going to be there because that
- 31:06the haven't got any anyone, like that.
- 31:08All of got is middle-aged looking, because of, the way,
- 31:11their society is, sitting around the outside.
- 31:13Neither. Exactly getting overweight.
- 31:16Yeah, this is, I mean, when you're in a society, the idea
- 31:19fullness to go onto your take a lemon squeezer and drive it onto
- 31:23a radioactive Island, you know that?
- 31:26Is the if that's all you've got for shits and giggles then you
- 31:30know your man that's going to be your big action here is going to
- 31:34be that type of coat of person is truly a wonderful line.
- 31:38Doesn't here. It goes, what am I talking
- 31:40about? They haven't paid me yet again.
- 31:42After, you know, a bad story for Cliffhangers, they blew the shit
- 31:48out of that set that humans over standing in a minute.
- 31:50Yeah, yeah, the ceiling falling in and everything.
- 31:52Yeah, yeah. It's it's, it's quite as well
- 31:56and a long. Isn't it?
- 31:57It's in no way as terrible as I perhaps perceived it to be in
- 32:03the past. I do.
- 32:05Are you ready for this? Are you ready to hear more about
- 32:07quickies Adventures? Yes I want to make a comeback
- 32:14now. He's very excited about this.
- 32:18Okay. Oh wow.
- 32:21Wait till you believe this this is an alternative Dimension that
- 32:24you're going to want to visit. So yeah.
- 32:26He skipped over to the alternative Dimension, where the
- 32:29quarks were the dominant power in the absence of the Daleks,
- 32:33right? But we'll set.
- 32:37It didn't stay very long. Now, apparently, there was a
- 32:40battle with the Croton Imperium, only the ogron Confederation
- 32:45area got a bit dicey, so he skipped out of there.
- 32:48Pretty quickly lay me that fan wank for God's sakes.
- 32:53That's an actual story. You know, that's a that's a
- 32:56Comic strip. I mean, I always see quarks or
- 33:00croutons. What exactly the?
- 33:02Yeah, that's big. Correct.
- 33:03Default question you when people ask me any question about Doctor
- 33:05Who is a quack, quacks our croutons?
- 33:07Or maybe that's why they were at war with the hang on quickly.
- 33:10Is this why they were at war in the alternative Universe?
- 33:12Are they? In fact, the quarks an offshoot
- 33:14of the protons he said don't be ridiculous.
- 33:17Well, bugger off, then honestly, if you know, they say no news, I
- 33:20wasn't expecting currently to be Anna.
- 33:23Could only grant me the or grand.
- 33:25I think he was in that water. Ernie of universe, you know he
- 33:27was like the leader of the war, they called the ogron
- 33:30Confederation. It's yeah, actually that's only
- 33:35been emperor of those. I mean I will say one thing that
- 33:38is the wackiest thing are possibly ever read that in my
- 33:41life. However it is wonderful.
- 33:43How Doctor Who inspires the creativity of people's
- 33:47imagination. Yeah.
- 33:50Fraser are you ready? Skipping to have so free.
- 33:56Ready. As I'm ever gonna be okay.
- 33:58It's stupid. Do it.
- 33:56Ready. As I'm ever gonna be okay.
- 33:58It's stupid. Do it.
