- 1:41Speaker 3: Oh my god, like minded chip, maybe some merch. Yeah,
- 1:45Speaker 3: let us know, what do you think?
- 1:47Speaker 2: Shirt TM the Danny DeVito slut streck shirt.
- 1:51Speaker 1: I don't know who owns that, but I'm going.
- 1:53Speaker 3: To rip it off some here, but I need it. Yeah,
- 1:55Speaker 3: change it by ten percent or whatever it is.
- 1:57Speaker 4: We'll make it work. But yeah, we're excited.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Oh my god, I'm so excited and also excited for
- 2:03Speaker 2: our topic today. So we're doing inexpensive glow up tips
- 2:09Speaker 2: and look, I want to start this with also saying
- 2:12Speaker 2: like glow up starts from the inside. Glow up is
- 2:16Speaker 2: like how you're feeling, and obviously how you're looking can
- 2:20Speaker 2: obviously affect how you're feeling.
- 2:21Speaker 1: But I don't want anyone to feel like.
- 2:23Speaker 2: We're putting all the emphasis on like happiness or joy
- 2:26Speaker 2: on the shell on the outside, because at the end
- 2:27Speaker 2: of the day, your body is just like a vessel
- 2:30Speaker 2: and the vibes start from within exactly.
- 2:33Speaker 4: It's a two part approach.
- 2:35Speaker 3: You really have to work on what's inside, and then
- 2:38Speaker 3: I feel like by doing something for your outside appearance
- 2:42Speaker 3: that makes you feel more confident or makes you feel
- 2:46Speaker 3: like you're taking care of your body in a way
- 2:49Speaker 3: that's meaningful, can like put that inside feeling into a
- 2:52Speaker 3: physical action.
- 2:53Speaker 1: That's why I like it, saying I feel like this
- 2:55Speaker 1: is to.
- 2:56Speaker 2: Do like in conjunction with the things for the inside.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Exactly. Yeah, but yeah, I'm excited to talk about it.
- 3:06Speaker 3: Okay, So my product wreck of the Week is actually
- 3:08Speaker 3: a documentary again smart and it's on Netflix. It just
- 3:15Speaker 3: dropped and it's called Black Barbie. Yeah, yeah, yeah, So
- 3:19Speaker 3: I watched it on the weekend with my mom. It
- 3:21Speaker 3: goes for like an hour and forty minutes or something.
- 3:23Speaker 2: So I had food poisoning on the weekend, so she
- 3:25Speaker 2: had a lot of couch time exactly.
- 3:27Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:28Speaker 4: Black Barbie.
- 3:29Speaker 3: It's a documentary on Netflix that's about the first Black
- 3:33Speaker 3: Barbie and the women at Mattel who pioneered her creation,
- 3:38Speaker 3: and the importance of inclusivity and diversity and being able
- 3:43Speaker 3: to see yourself reflected in pop culture and in culture
- 3:48Speaker 3: in general. It was so inspiring and really beautiful, but
- 3:51Speaker 3: also like a good reminder that there's still a really
- 3:53Speaker 3: long way to go, because you know, like the Brooklyn
- 3:57Speaker 3: Barbie for example, who is the current black bar in
- 4:00Speaker 3: like the Barbie TV series, a TV show that I
- 4:03Speaker 3: wasn't really aware of in twenty twenty four, but there
- 4:06Speaker 3: you go. A lot of the commentary was pointing out
- 4:08Speaker 3: that Brooklyn Barbie is still very much a sidekick to
- 4:11Speaker 3: Malibu Barbie, who's the you know, long Barbie.
- 4:14Speaker 4: Stereotypical Barbie.
- 4:16Speaker 3: But yeah, it was definitely a really good watch and
- 4:18Speaker 3: I recommend watching it, especially in the wake of like
- 4:20Speaker 3: the Barbie movie last year.
- 4:22Speaker 1: And how long is it?
- 4:23Speaker 3: About an hour and forty?
- 4:25Speaker 1: Oh yeah cool?
- 4:25Speaker 3: Yeah, so pretty easy watch.
- 4:27Speaker 2: Love.
- 4:28Speaker 3: Yeah, what's yours?
- 4:29Speaker 2: My product wreck or what's trending is kind of like
- 4:33Speaker 2: our segue.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Into this show episode.
- 4:37Speaker 2: So by now everyone's probably seen like the eyebrow blindness trend. Yeah,
- 4:43Speaker 2: and it basically is people sharing like a throwback to
- 4:47Speaker 2: them with looking like a bit whild following a beauty
- 4:51Speaker 2: trend like back in the days.
- 4:53Speaker 1: It's like of eyebrows of Christmas past.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Yeah, so like aka, it's like overly plucked brows, like
- 5:00Speaker 2: the Anastasia dip brow like coming back to haunt everyone.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Yeah, so I.
- 5:04Speaker 2: Wanted to ask you what is your eyebrow blindness because
- 5:09Speaker 2: people have now started pulling it into like blush blindness,
- 5:12Speaker 2: foux freckles blindness, money piece blindness, So what's yours?
- 5:18Speaker 3: Mine would be lipstick blindness? And it's do you remember
- 5:25Speaker 3: like ten plus years ago when Lime Crime lipsticks were
- 5:30Speaker 3: like all the things and like the Kylie lip Kids
- 5:34Speaker 3: in like the blue and you could get like the
- 5:37Speaker 3: Lime Crime ones in like a bright aquamarine, almost a
- 5:42Speaker 3: mint green.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Oh my god, you better have photos of this.
- 5:47Speaker 3: Surely I'll look back in like the Facebook.
- 5:50Speaker 2: Kylie lip Kids used to convince us to wear lip
- 5:53Speaker 2: colors that simply simply never again.
- 5:57Speaker 3: And like, yeah, sure they look great on professional makeup
- 6:01Speaker 3: artist or Kylie Jenner in a photo shoot. But when
- 6:05Speaker 3: it's the liquid lipstick and you're wearing it and then
- 6:09Speaker 3: going out for dinner, dude, it.
- 6:10Speaker 2: Was like mixing flour and water and pasting it on
- 6:13Speaker 2: your fucking lips. It was like paper macheting your lips.
- 6:17Speaker 2: I don't know what they put in it, but I'm
- 6:19Speaker 2: convinced to a cement.
- 6:20Speaker 3: It's giving oatmeal. And also some of those like colors
- 6:25Speaker 3: just bring out like the yellowness in your teeth. It's
- 6:28Speaker 3: just what they do, the color combo. It's just not
- 6:32Speaker 3: really the vibe. So, yeah, that's what I was blind to.
- 6:37Speaker 3: What about you?
- 6:38Speaker 1: I have two.
- 6:39Speaker 2: So one of them is fake tan blindness because I
- 6:46Speaker 2: was walking around looking like a tiger cobblo.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Yeah for a lot.
- 6:50Speaker 2: And I'm not even gonna try and say that that
- 6:52Speaker 2: doesn't still happen to.
- 6:54Speaker 1: This day, I know, but there's some tens.
- 6:57Speaker 2: That I look and I'm like, that's orange. If you
- 7:00Speaker 2: put a color dropper on that, it would be like
- 7:03Speaker 2: tangerine dream or whatever you want to call it. Yeah,
- 7:06Speaker 2: and then like their hands, there's a photo of sound
- 7:09Speaker 2: and I had a Christmas body and our hands watched
- 7:14Speaker 2: and we were just giggling because I'm like.
- 7:16Speaker 1: That doesn't look better. No, that doesn't look better than
- 7:19Speaker 1: not wearing tears. But I'm still gonna wear tan.
- 7:22Speaker 2: No.
- 7:23Speaker 4: The worst part is I got a spray tan before that.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Yeah, that's actually really rude.
- 7:29Speaker 4: That was really bad.
- 7:30Speaker 1: That's really rude.
- 7:31Speaker 2: And then my second one is filler blindness. So I
- 7:37Speaker 2: think I had like a bit of an error where
- 7:40Speaker 2: I got fully addicted to Piller.
- 7:42Speaker 4: I think a lot of people did.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Oh it's so easy too, though.
- 7:45Speaker 2: It's so easy too because it's like six mil pack
- 7:49Speaker 2: and then it's like you go in and it's like, yep,
- 7:52Speaker 2: you need it here, here, here, And I just developed
- 7:54Speaker 2: like the roguest body dysmorphia. Yeah that I have a
- 7:58Speaker 2: photo and I looking exactly like handsome squid withd do.
- 8:03Speaker 1: You're lying, you're lying. My cheek's a fucking pointy bro.
- 8:08Speaker 4: I mean, I feel like it.
- 8:10Speaker 3: Definitely, you look great now.
- 8:16Speaker 2: But that's like that kind of goes into the first
- 8:19Speaker 2: tip because when I was like going a bit rogue
- 8:23Speaker 2: with Piller, like I was going and getting filler multiple
- 8:25Speaker 2: times a year, multiple times a year, whereas now it's
- 8:28Speaker 2: once a year, maybe like a secondary top up around
- 8:30Speaker 2: Christmas or whatever, and it's like half a meal. Not
- 8:34Speaker 2: to say that if you're getting more than that, there's
- 8:35Speaker 2: anything wrong with that. Everyone can do what they want
- 8:38Speaker 2: with their own bodies. But my intention when I was
- 8:41Speaker 2: going and getting filler was to change my face. I
- 8:45Speaker 2: didn't want to look like me. I had a Pinterest
- 8:48Speaker 2: board of faces of what.
- 8:50Speaker 1: I wanted to look like.
- 8:51Speaker 2: That looked nothing.
- 8:53Speaker 3: Like it was on it like Instagram model, Yeah, just.
- 8:55Speaker 2: Like Pinterest girls like that girl or whatever you want
- 8:58Speaker 2: to call it. And I would like take those photos
- 9:02Speaker 2: in and be like, I want lips like that, and
- 9:04Speaker 2: I want, you know, a jaw like that, and I
- 9:07Speaker 2: want this and this and this, and I was trying
- 9:08Speaker 2: to like Frankenstein my own face.
- 9:10Speaker 1: And when you're doing that, it just never ends up
- 9:13Speaker 1: looking good.
- 9:13Speaker 2: Like look at the people that try to get plastic
- 9:15Speaker 2: surgery to look like Justin Bieber exactly.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:19Speaker 4: But that's the thing.
- 9:19Speaker 3: That's why it's so important to go to a nurse
- 9:23Speaker 3: who you can trust and somebody who is actually going
- 9:27Speaker 3: to say no, I won't do that because that's not
- 9:31Speaker 3: going to look good. Yeah, I'm sure it's okay to
- 9:34Speaker 3: take a reference photo and be like, this is the
- 9:36Speaker 3: you know, the shape of the lips that I would like,
- 9:39Speaker 3: But a good nurse will also come back to you
- 9:41Speaker 3: and say, look, we can do that, but that may
- 9:44Speaker 3: not necessarily suit your face shape, or like this might
- 9:47Speaker 3: be better, or you don't need that much filler, you know,
- 9:50Speaker 3: to avoid comigration and things like trying you away or
- 9:53Speaker 3: say you don't need that, yeah, rather than trying to
- 9:55Speaker 3: get more money.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Yeah, and being like, yeah, let's fill you up baby.
- 9:59Speaker 3: Yeah, if you are interested in getting filler or you
- 10:03Speaker 3: already have it and you're thinking about down the line.
- 10:06Speaker 3: We did a really good interview with Nurse Arta, who
- 10:09Speaker 3: al has seen in the past, and she is amazing
- 10:12Speaker 3: and so so lovely. So we'll put a link to
- 10:14Speaker 3: that in the show notes as well, because there's a
- 10:16Speaker 3: lot of really good reminders in there.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Yeah. I feel like the glow up tip though.
- 10:20Speaker 2: It's like finding the features of yourself that you really
- 10:23Speaker 2: enjoy about yourself, Like I love like my thick eyebrows
- 10:27Speaker 2: and like my thick hair, whereas like I used to
- 10:30Speaker 2: not like that, Like I was getting my eyebrows wax
- 10:32Speaker 2: in that year five.
- 10:33Speaker 1: Yeah, I was.
- 10:36Speaker 2: Little mona brow baby. Yeah she's hair, little girl.
- 10:39Speaker 4: That's okay brow. When we first started bring back to
- 10:41Speaker 4: the mono.
- 10:41Speaker 2: Brow, I say, I'm into it. It's more about like
- 10:50Speaker 2: elevating your natural features because I'm not going to sit
- 10:54Speaker 2: here and be like natural when I still get filler
- 10:57Speaker 2: and you know, I'll get botox here and there we
- 11:00Speaker 2: both wear maker.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:01Speaker 2: Now I'm to a point that it's like I still
- 11:04Speaker 2: want to look like me. I like like when I
- 11:06Speaker 2: went and got all my feeler dissolved and started from scratching.
- 11:10Speaker 1: It was more about like little, they'll sparkle little.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Yeah, And I saw myself because I hadn't seen myself
- 11:19Speaker 2: since I was eighteen when I started getting filled. I
- 11:21Speaker 2: also think eighteen is maybe a bit too young for
- 11:23Speaker 2: people to be able to start getting feeler.
- 11:24Speaker 4: Like like actually changes.
- 11:26Speaker 1: I feel like it should be twenty one.
- 11:27Speaker 2: I feel like eighteen I was just way too young
- 11:29Speaker 2: to have that power. And also it's fucking expensive. Is
- 11:34Speaker 2: We're talking inexpensive bro chick tips. Don't go get ten
- 11:37Speaker 2: miles of filler.
- 11:39Speaker 1: It's so expensive. Yeah, so true, Oh my gosh.
- 11:42Speaker 2: So I basically hadn't seen what I would look like
- 11:44Speaker 2: since eighteen to twenty five, and I was like, holy shit,
- 11:48Speaker 2: that's what you look.
- 11:49Speaker 1: Like at twenty five.
- 11:50Speaker 2: And it was like seeing myself again and like seeing
- 11:51Speaker 2: the little girl. And then that's when I was like,
- 11:55Speaker 2: oh my god, like I'm just a little girl, Like
- 11:57Speaker 2: I don't want I still want her.
- 12:00Speaker 4: I want to say, yeah, yeah, I saw this TikTok.
- 12:02Speaker 4: I feel like I've seen in a few different iterations.
- 12:04Speaker 3: But it was just a reminder that when you look
- 12:07Speaker 3: at your face or your body or anything physical on
- 12:10Speaker 3: you and you're critiquing it, remember that it is a
- 12:14Speaker 3: combination of your mom, your nan, your sister, your dad,
- 12:19Speaker 3: your ancestors, and like generations and generations and generations of
- 12:24Speaker 3: people that probably go back hundreds and thousands or some
- 12:27Speaker 3: people tens of thousands of years. That has all added
- 12:30Speaker 3: up to create who you are and what you look like.
- 12:33Speaker 3: And that's amazing and that's so beautiful.
- 12:37Speaker 1: I love that.
- 12:37Speaker 2: And the one I think I saw a similar one
- 12:39Speaker 2: and it was like, when you're feeling really insecure, remember
- 12:42Speaker 2: that your face is the product of generations of people
- 12:47Speaker 2: falling in love.
- 12:48Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, So I just thought that was cool.
- 12:52Speaker 2: So where I was going back with like the eyebrows
- 12:55Speaker 2: and hair thing is that like now I will you know,
- 12:58Speaker 2: I paid it, like get my hair done really nice,
- 13:02Speaker 2: and like I love getting my eyebrows done and really
- 13:05Speaker 2: accentuating those features and having those as a main feature
- 13:08Speaker 2: because those are natural features that I really love.
- 13:10Speaker 1: So I like hero those a little bit more.
- 13:14Speaker 2: Yeah, and so, and it's funny because I also saw
- 13:17Speaker 2: someone saying about how like when people get their lips dissolved,
- 13:20Speaker 2: how the after is always better or and even this
- 13:23Speaker 2: eyebrow blindness trend when people have fallen back into something
- 13:28Speaker 2: that is more in line with the natural features of
- 13:31Speaker 2: their face, how much it complements it, and the facial.
- 13:34Speaker 1: Harmony that it is. So that was like one.
- 13:38Speaker 2: Tangent of being like try not to, you know, fall
- 13:42Speaker 2: down the deep dark rabbit hole of finding one insecurity
- 13:45Speaker 2: because once that's fixed.
- 13:47Speaker 1: There's always going to be another.
- 13:48Speaker 2: There'll be another one, and find the features that you
- 13:50Speaker 2: love about your face. So with this eyebrow trends, what
- 13:52Speaker 2: I think is really interesting about it, and I know
- 13:55Speaker 2: it's really lighthearted, but it is kind of an example
- 13:57Speaker 2: of like how quick makeup trends chained and how easy
- 14:01Speaker 2: it is to get wrapped up in beauty trends. And
- 14:05Speaker 2: there is a difference between a beauty trend and a
- 14:07Speaker 2: body trend. So I want to like clarify we're not
- 14:09Speaker 2: talking about like getting wrapped up in body trends, because
- 14:12Speaker 2: that's fucked.
- 14:13Speaker 1: Yeah, But beauty trends.
- 14:15Speaker 2: Are like a healthy level of experimentation, Like you're allowed
- 14:19Speaker 2: to play around with makeup, you're allowed to try new
- 14:22Speaker 2: things when it comes in, Like in two thousand and eighteen,
- 14:25Speaker 2: I think we all would have dropped kicked blush out
- 14:27Speaker 2: of fucking window.
- 14:28Speaker 3: Oh my god, I know.
- 14:29Speaker 2: Yeah, Whereas now we're all like, I love blush, like
- 14:31Speaker 2: me too. I love blush, but it's only because of
- 14:34Speaker 2: a makeup trend that I actually tried it. And now
- 14:36Speaker 2: I realize I really like that on my face. And
- 14:38Speaker 2: I feel like, especially with having you know, like brown hair,
- 14:41Speaker 2: brown eyes, it really adds like a color to my features.
- 14:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:45Speaker 1: So I feel like it's okay.
- 14:47Speaker 2: To want to play around with makeup and makeup trends,
- 14:51Speaker 2: but the difference is not constantly needing to follow it.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:55Speaker 2: And there was this really interesting article from a Lure.
- 14:59Speaker 2: I just think she put it really really well. It reads,
- 15:02Speaker 2: the beauty industry has historically told women and fen people
- 15:05Speaker 2: that the most desirable eyebrows.
- 15:07Speaker 1: Are the ones they don't currently have.
- 15:09Speaker 2: The eyebrow ideal has flip flopped between thick and thin
- 15:12Speaker 2: like clockwork at the turn of pretty much every new decade,
- 15:15Speaker 2: which is so true, because makeup trends exist for us
- 15:19Speaker 2: to keep buying stuff and for you know, humans to
- 15:24Speaker 2: feel inadequate in every way.
- 15:27Speaker 1: But she continues to open the.
- 15:28Speaker 2: Discussion about how a lot of the videos have statements
- 15:31Speaker 2: like why did people.
- 15:32Speaker 1: Let me look this ridiculous?
- 15:34Speaker 2: But when you peel it back at the time, you
- 15:36Speaker 2: didn't look ridiculous. You were simply following what the beauty
- 15:41Speaker 2: trend of the time was. Like, you looked normal at
- 15:44Speaker 2: the time. So she says, you may think you looked
- 15:47Speaker 2: silly with those blockie brows now, but that wasn't blindness.
- 15:51Speaker 2: Even if you were following trends that led to retrospectively
- 15:54Speaker 2: extreme looks, it was still a way for you to
- 15:56Speaker 2: figure out stuff about yourself and how you like to look.
- 16:00Speaker 2: When I was reading this article, I was it just
- 16:02Speaker 2: did not end the way I thought it was. I
- 16:04Speaker 2: thought it was gonna, you know, go into how makeup
- 16:06Speaker 2: trends are really really bad, But she says not to
- 16:09Speaker 2: sound like that one guy who hangs out alone at
- 16:12Speaker 2: your local bar and talks your ear off about his
- 16:14Speaker 2: long gone glory days against your wheel.
- 16:16Speaker 3: Shout out to him.
- 16:17Speaker 1: I know, right, That's how.
- 16:21Speaker 3: I feel.
- 16:22Speaker 2: Seen literally you.
- 16:23Speaker 1: Feature in this article.
- 16:25Speaker 2: I'm like credit, he's actual broke jicks, she continues, But
- 16:29Speaker 2: I'm finally getting to the age read thirties, where I
- 16:32Speaker 2: simply do not have the energy to care about keeping
- 16:35Speaker 2: up with those norms. I just want my eyebrows to
- 16:37Speaker 2: look like my eyebrows and to not have to work
- 16:39Speaker 2: at them so much. But to the even younger folks
- 16:42Speaker 2: out there who are starting to look back and realize
- 16:44Speaker 2: how much their own aesthetics have changed own, that stay
- 16:48Speaker 2: willing to change your own appearance when you want to.
- 16:51Speaker 2: It's what will inevitably help you determine what you and
- 16:55Speaker 2: you alone want to look like later in life, hopefully
- 16:58Speaker 2: free of trends and makeup ideals.
- 17:01Speaker 1: I love that.
- 17:02Speaker 2: I was like, that is just so perfectly poor. Yeah,
- 17:06Speaker 2: because it's okay to want to try makeup trends, okay
- 17:10Speaker 2: to want to play around with it, and playing around
- 17:12Speaker 2: with these things helps you figure out what you like,
- 17:15Speaker 2: helps you experiment. And I definitely think that, Like, because
- 17:20Speaker 2: I'm definitely out of point now, getting like later into
- 17:23Speaker 2: my twenties, approaching my thirties, Yeah, my makeup routine doesn't
- 17:26Speaker 2: really change. I might like play around with different colors
- 17:29Speaker 2: or whatever, but it's basically the same shit you're you know,
- 17:33Speaker 2: Whereas when I was younger, I was definitely following everything
- 17:36Speaker 2: like the cup creases and.
- 17:37Speaker 1: The buck braiers and nicknaming.
- 17:42Speaker 2: But yeah, I just thought it was like really perfectly poor.
- 17:46Speaker 2: So the inexpensive glow up tip here is that women
- 17:49Speaker 2: are not trends.
- 17:50Speaker 1: You are not a trend.
- 17:52Speaker 2: But if you see something that you like and you
- 17:54Speaker 2: want to play and have fun with it to learn
- 17:57Speaker 2: what you like, that's okay. Just keeping conscious to not
- 18:01Speaker 2: start drowning in like the never ending ocean that is
- 18:05Speaker 2: like trends for women.
- 18:07Speaker 3: Yeah, but yeah, I loved that. Yeah, that's so cool.
- 18:10Speaker 2: So we'll link that article in the show notes as well,
- 18:12Speaker 2: because it's a really good read and I highly recommend
- 18:14Speaker 2: everyone have a little look about it. But it's similar
- 18:17Speaker 2: to what you spoke about in your thirty Lessons from
- 18:19Speaker 2: Turning thirty episode about you know, leaning into.
- 18:23Speaker 1: Just like who you are.
- 18:25Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly, Like there's nothing wrong with like playing around
- 18:28Speaker 3: with it, like you said, but I think there's a
- 18:30Speaker 3: difference between like trying to change yourself and wanting to
- 18:34Speaker 3: experiment and have fun.
- 18:35Speaker 1: Are you wearing Christmas socks?
- 18:38Speaker 4: That's private Christmas in July? I am wearing it's still June.
- 18:43Speaker 3: But shut up, you're trying to help me.
- 18:48Speaker 2: Yeah, your goddamn mouth wearing.
- 18:51Speaker 4: Homo Simpson Christmas sucks.
- 18:55Speaker 2: Just get me here any okay, wash your shit? I
- 18:59Speaker 2: love this is so on brand for.
- 19:01Speaker 3: You, honestly, but I think, like, how often do you
- 19:06Speaker 3: wash your makeup rush?
- 19:08Speaker 1: Be rude?
- 19:10Speaker 2: Rudde why are you trying to put me on blasts
- 19:13Speaker 2: on the podcast?
- 19:14Speaker 3: But also I definitely don't wash mine enough.
- 19:17Speaker 2: I don't know how often you're supposed to watch it
- 19:18Speaker 2: because I see different things. It's like makeup artists wash
- 19:21Speaker 2: them every day, that makes sense. Then something's like every
- 19:24Speaker 2: two weeks every week.
- 19:26Speaker 1: This is so bad.
- 19:28Speaker 2: But I just kind of beat them until the point.
- 19:31Speaker 3: That I need new Once.
- 19:34Speaker 4: They're too fune, I think I kill me.
- 19:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know. And then I'm like, why am
- 19:43Speaker 1: I breaking out?
- 19:44Speaker 3: Yeah, So that's the point of this tip wash your shit,
- 19:48Speaker 3: because I've noticed that for me personally, I'll be like,
- 19:52Speaker 3: why am I going through like such a bad breakout period?
- 19:55Speaker 2: Its stress, it's definitely stressed.
- 19:58Speaker 3: And then I'm like, when was the fast time I
- 20:00Speaker 3: washed my makeup rush? And I can't remember, and that's bad.
- 20:05Speaker 3: And then the same with like washing your pillowcases or
- 20:08Speaker 3: your actual pillow or also your hair brush, like there
- 20:12Speaker 3: was a yeah, there was I don't think I've.
- 20:15Speaker 1: Ever washed my hair brush. Yeah, I'm supposed to wash
- 20:17Speaker 1: my hair brus.
- 20:17Speaker 2: Yes, I've got a fucking possum growing.
- 20:19Speaker 1: In my hair.
- 20:22Speaker 4: Yours is like a living organizode.
- 20:24Speaker 2: I've actually created life. Yeah, I'm God with my hair brush.
- 20:29Speaker 3: So, like, I do have multiple different hair brushes, and
- 20:31Speaker 3: I know that you do as well, for like different things.
- 20:34Speaker 3: But when I think about it, I'm like, fuck, the
- 20:36Speaker 3: amount of like hair masks and hair oils and things
- 20:40Speaker 3: that would be seeping into that hair brush, plus like
- 20:43Speaker 3: my natural hair oil anyway, and then brush my hair
- 20:48Speaker 3: and then I'm like, wait, but why does my hair
- 20:50Speaker 3: look so greasy even after I've just washed it? Like
- 20:54Speaker 3: really greasy at like the root or underneath, which is
- 20:56Speaker 3: where I brush my hair anyway.
- 20:58Speaker 4: The tip is wash the shit. We're gonna run through
- 21:01Speaker 4: a few.
- 21:01Speaker 3: Key examples and how often you need to be washing
- 21:04Speaker 3: your ship.
- 21:05Speaker 2: God, I hate it when we do this because I
- 21:07Speaker 2: just feel bad about myself.
- 21:09Speaker 3: But it's okay because we're all in this.
- 21:13Speaker 1: We're all in this.
- 21:14Speaker 3: Together, though, because this made me feel bad about myself too.
- 21:16Speaker 1: What's our beauty cleaning checklist?
- 21:20Speaker 3: Okay, pillowcases you should wash your pillowcase once per week, okay,
- 21:26Speaker 3: and wash your pillow oh once every six months. And
- 21:31Speaker 3: this is according to University of Queensland infectious disease expert.
- 21:36Speaker 1: Paul, a pretty incredible source. So wait, back to the pillow.
- 21:41Speaker 2: When was the last time you washed your actual fucking
- 21:43Speaker 2: pillow ages ago?
- 21:46Speaker 1: A year ago?
- 21:47Speaker 2: No, I've owned my pillow for years, and so I'm
- 21:50Speaker 2: telling you straight up right now, Yeah, what does it look.
- 21:52Speaker 3: Like when you take the case off?
- 21:54Speaker 4: It's not it's not bad.
- 21:56Speaker 3: Okay, it's not yellow. Well that's okay, And like you're
- 22:00Speaker 3: probably not like a very you're not a sweaty sleeper.
- 22:02Speaker 4: So that's I do.
- 22:04Speaker 1: I am an open mouth. I do get a little
- 22:10Speaker 1: and there.
- 22:10Speaker 3: Yeah, so could be time ship because if you think
- 22:14Speaker 3: about you spend eight hours every single day with your
- 22:19Speaker 3: face buried in that up. Okay, moving on, hair brushes
- 22:25Speaker 3: every two to three weeks, depending on how much product
- 22:29Speaker 3: you use.
- 22:29Speaker 2: How do you wash your hair brush? So, like, I'm
- 22:32Speaker 2: assuming that's not a chuck it in the washing machine? Cud?
- 22:35Speaker 4: No, I just put mine.
- 22:37Speaker 3: I bring mine into the shower with me when I'm
- 22:39Speaker 3: washing my hair, and I shampoo like just a little
- 22:42Speaker 3: bit of shampoo, and then because it's like two birds
- 22:44Speaker 3: one stone, I'm already in there, and then I can
- 22:46Speaker 3: kind of do it while my like hair mask is
- 22:48Speaker 3: doing It's bang okay, next one makeup brushes and sponges.
- 22:54Speaker 4: So similar to what you alluded to before, this is a.
- 22:57Speaker 3: Controversial one and I could not find and a straight
- 23:01Speaker 3: answer I.
- 23:02Speaker 2: Was gonna say, I'm sure that it was like multiple answers.
- 23:05Speaker 3: Yes as well.
- 23:06Speaker 1: I feel like if you go.
- 23:07Speaker 2: To a brand, it's always going to be a shorter
- 23:09Speaker 2: time span. Then, like I don't know a dermatologist, because
- 23:14Speaker 2: the brand's gonna want you to repurchase things more often,
- 23:17Speaker 2: versus like a dermatologist, you're probably going to get them
- 23:18Speaker 2: more straight up answer exactly tell So.
- 23:21Speaker 3: According to makeup artist Troy Surat in an interview with Vogue,
- 23:26Speaker 3: that I read you should clean your makeup brushes at
- 23:29Speaker 3: least weekly. What However, in a fashion journal article with
- 23:34Speaker 3: a skincare expert, doctor Deborah Lee, she said that you
- 23:37Speaker 3: should wash your liquid foundation brushes slash beauty blenders daily
- 23:45Speaker 3: and your powder brushes one to two times a week. Yeah,
- 23:49Speaker 3: I was thinking light monthly.
- 23:51Speaker 1: I really thought you were going to come out with Fortnightly.
- 23:53Speaker 3: Yeah, no, I know.
- 23:56Speaker 2: I look, do you know what, I'll do it for
- 23:59Speaker 2: a month and then I'm not gonna do it anything.
- 24:02Speaker 2: I'll be like, I'm so good at this, I'm watching
- 24:04Speaker 2: my makeup brushes.
- 24:05Speaker 1: Fuck that.
- 24:07Speaker 3: Sorry, but I think that's the thing, like take this
- 24:10Speaker 3: stuff with a grain of salt, because there is a
- 24:12Speaker 3: different answer depending on who you ask.
- 24:14Speaker 2: But I feel like I feel like even just building
- 24:16Speaker 2: it in once a month.
- 24:18Speaker 3: But if you're not doing honest, you and I.
- 24:20Speaker 2: Haven't watched our makeup brushes for at least six months.
- 24:24Speaker 5: Makeup brushes Yeah, no, okay, like a month ago was
- 24:37Speaker 5: some this.
- 24:40Speaker 4: I think before we went to Melbourne or.
- 24:45Speaker 6: Fucks so funny fucking out Well, either way, the point
- 24:52Speaker 6: is you're probably not watching them enough.
- 24:55Speaker 3: And a stark reminder from that same Fashion Journal article,
- 24:59Speaker 3: if you're not cleaning your beauty tools, your skincare routine
- 25:03Speaker 3: is essentially redundant.
- 25:05Speaker 1: Shut up.
- 25:05Speaker 3: Yeah, especially.
- 25:09Speaker 2: Anyway, how to represent the fucking chicks.
- 25:14Speaker 1: It's been like six months. Yeah, that's what I'm going
- 25:17Speaker 1: to go home and I am going to wash them.
- 25:19Speaker 1: I just think, do you know what it is?
- 25:21Speaker 2: I can continue?
- 25:26Speaker 1: There's too many I need to cul it down because really, realistically,
- 25:30Speaker 1: I use like five.
- 25:31Speaker 2: Yeah, same, so I just need to fucking bin the
- 25:34Speaker 2: rest of them. Like, why do I need a one
- 25:37Speaker 2: dianameter whatever the word is, a two centimeter one and
- 25:40Speaker 2: a three centimeter one. Or for eyeshadow, I use the
- 25:42Speaker 2: bronzer in the same brush every.
- 25:44Speaker 3: Time when we're just doing a smoky eye.
- 25:46Speaker 2: Really, I look the same every single day.
- 25:49Speaker 1: Yeah, that's that's me. Done, put a pin in. Done.
- 25:53Speaker 3: So, how to actually wash your makeup rushes?
- 25:56Speaker 2: You don't need to get a dedicated makeup cleaner.
- 26:00Speaker 3: There's definitely some out there, but you don't need it.
- 26:02Speaker 3: You can use a facial cleanser, shampoo or dove soap
- 26:06Speaker 3: as long as they're like gentle and won't irritate your skin.
- 26:09Speaker 3: So maybe do like a patch test.
- 26:10Speaker 2: Yeah, and obviously like makeup brush cleansers will do a
- 26:15Speaker 2: really good job. That's not us trying to say that
- 26:17Speaker 2: those are like a moot product, but this is an
- 26:20Speaker 2: expensive glow up tips. So like, if not having a
- 26:24Speaker 2: makeup brush cleaner is going to stop you from washing
- 26:26Speaker 2: your brushes, there are things that you can use instead. Also,
- 26:29Speaker 2: baby shampoo is apparently really good.
- 26:31Speaker 3: Yeah, because they're super gentle.
- 26:33Speaker 4: Yeah, it makes sense.
- 26:34Speaker 1: Just don't do.
- 26:36Speaker 3: Well.
- 26:36Speaker 2: I did once and put them in a dishwasher to
- 26:38Speaker 2: see if that would work.
- 26:39Speaker 4: Well, yeah, and I just want to melt.
- 26:43Speaker 3: It kind of worked, but it's probably not like a
- 26:47Speaker 3: it was.
- 26:47Speaker 1: Effort was made a roommate.
- 26:49Speaker 3: I'm not gonna wear that holes during COVID.
- 26:51Speaker 1: Probably she started.
- 26:53Speaker 3: To stop you yeah, science, Yeah, okay, I've got one
- 26:57Speaker 3: more of your things that you need to clean. Sorry,
- 27:00Speaker 3: it's your hot Girl water bottle. I'm sorry. I should
- 27:05Speaker 3: be washing this after every use. Oh yikes, I have
- 27:11Speaker 3: not been doing that. According to a twenty twenty two study,
- 27:15Speaker 3: the average reusable water bottle contains forty thousand times more bacteria.
- 27:20Speaker 4: Than a toilet seat.
- 27:23Speaker 3: A quarter of the people interviewed for this study washed
- 27:26Speaker 3: their bottle a few times a week. One in five
- 27:29Speaker 3: washed it a few times a month. I definitely don't
- 27:33Speaker 3: wash mine after every time I use it. I probably
- 27:36Speaker 3: wash mine like maybe twice a week.
- 27:38Speaker 1: And now that I think, I go like once a
- 27:40Speaker 1: for it's generous too.
- 27:42Speaker 3: Yeah, but we've all seen those tiktoks of people and
- 27:44Speaker 3: they finally open their front grain and it's literally a
- 27:47Speaker 3: year seven slp in there and they're trying to grow
- 27:51Speaker 3: a potato.
- 27:52Speaker 2: Maddie did that, friend Maddie, she filmed a video and
- 27:55Speaker 2: it was showing the inside of a bottle and it
- 27:57Speaker 2: was Muldius food. Yeah, exactly, So I'm I'm a massive,
- 28:00Speaker 2: like hypochondriac with that kind of stuff. So like chicken,
- 28:06Speaker 2: chicken has to basically be cooked to the point that
- 28:08Speaker 2: it's like a lump of coal and appear to me
- 28:10Speaker 2: to be like is it done? And then like water bottles,
- 28:13Speaker 2: I am like, if I feel like it's not clean,
- 28:16Speaker 2: I'll like invent.
- 28:17Speaker 1: That it tastes yucky in my head, like I'd.
- 28:20Speaker 2: Be like, you just know, and like even that if
- 28:22Speaker 2: it tastes a little bit like soap, like I that
- 28:25Speaker 2: I hate that time.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Like I'm a bit of a hypochondriac with that stuff.
- 28:29Speaker 2: The makeup rushes one, that's okay, that's okay.
- 28:32Speaker 1: We got room to grow and learn and move on.
- 28:34Speaker 3: I think the biggest tip to try and make some
- 28:36Speaker 3: of these changes is to anchor it to something within
- 28:39Speaker 3: your routine. So wash your makeup brushes at the same
- 28:42Speaker 3: time that you wash your sheets every week, for example,
- 28:45Speaker 3: so you're like, okay, pull the sheets on, I've got
- 28:47Speaker 3: an hour until they're done.
- 28:48Speaker 4: I'll use that time to wash my makeup brushes.
- 28:51Speaker 3: Yeah, or like I said, wash your hair brush when
- 28:54Speaker 3: you're in the shower. When you're in that Yeah, because
- 28:57Speaker 3: then that way you're doing like two things at one time.
- 28:59Speaker 1: You could get did tear.
- 29:00Speaker 2: Show maybe on your phone, like to sit outside of
- 29:03Speaker 2: the shower and maybe like watch the TV show while
- 29:05Speaker 2: you're in the shower and do like your makeup brushes.
- 29:07Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly. But the inexpensive glow up tip is that
- 29:11Speaker 3: taking care of your shit is going to make it
- 29:14Speaker 3: last longer and is also better for your skin and hair.
- 29:18Speaker 2: Well.
- 29:19Speaker 1: Well, she I think we're gonna cut that whole.
- 29:24Speaker 2: Because I do not like how much I just put
- 29:27Speaker 2: myself on. Plus I'm a grotty little girl.
- 29:30Speaker 1: Leave me the fuck alone.
- 29:32Speaker 2: Okay, My next glow up tip, inexpensive blow up tip
- 29:37Speaker 2: is a bit of another read of myself. Great, but
- 29:41Speaker 2: it's like people spend thousands on botox but not wear
- 29:44Speaker 2: their SVF every day.
- 29:46Speaker 3: Yeah, And it's like the Mathe.
- 29:48Speaker 2: Math the Mathee Mathing baby go all. So it doesn't
- 29:51Speaker 2: matter how much you're spending on your skincare on your bowtox.
- 29:54Speaker 2: If you're not wearing SBF every day, there's no point.
- 29:58Speaker 2: And I don't think I was wearing SPF consistently until
- 30:02Speaker 2: probably my like mid twenties.
- 30:04Speaker 3: Same.
- 30:05Speaker 2: Yeah, Like I was just like, oh yeah, it was
- 30:07Speaker 2: like for me in my brain, I thought it was
- 30:10Speaker 2: a thing to avoid getting burned. It wasn't about like
- 30:14Speaker 2: it was to avoid like getting a sunburned rather than
- 30:17Speaker 2: like anything besides of aging or like I didn't think that,
- 30:21Speaker 2: you know, skin cancer was as like there's so much
- 30:23Speaker 2: more education around it now, Yeah, exactly where It's like
- 30:26Speaker 2: I didn't think there was any fucking danger when I'm
- 30:28Speaker 2: like just walking to the office or anything like that.
- 30:30Speaker 3: Yeah, whereas or even during winter, yeah, or when you're
- 30:34Speaker 3: sitting inside, like you still need to be wearing SBF
- 30:36Speaker 3: when you're sitting inside because the rays can still get
- 30:38Speaker 3: through a window and all that stuff.
- 30:41Speaker 1: It's like my mum.
- 30:42Speaker 2: Would always say it because she would put it on.
- 30:43Speaker 1: Her hand when she's driving.
- 30:45Speaker 2: Because the sun comes through on your hands while you're driving. Yeah,
- 30:49Speaker 2: and so that's why your hands can look more aged.
- 30:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 30:53Speaker 2: But as I digress, so tip also comes because we
- 30:59Speaker 2: recently went to an Alpha h event, and they did
- 31:04Speaker 2: a facial and I had like this full consultation just
- 31:06Speaker 2: as like a cute little bonus.
- 31:07Speaker 1: Because we were having a good chin wag.
- 31:09Speaker 2: And basically she was like, yeah, you have an impaired
- 31:12Speaker 2: skin barrier. And what that is is basically if you've
- 31:16Speaker 2: been you know, mixing up your products a little bit
- 31:18Speaker 2: too much or using too many active ingredients. And you know,
- 31:22Speaker 2: with our job, we do test a lot of beauty
- 31:24Speaker 2: products and I haven't been the most like consistent with
- 31:27Speaker 2: my skin care. And so it's all about like peeling
- 31:30Speaker 2: it back to the basics with your skincare. That also
- 31:34Speaker 2: integrates SBF because personally, I'm not someone that enjoys like
- 31:38Speaker 2: a seventy two step skincare routine. I need it to
- 31:41Speaker 2: be like really simple and really really easy, otherwise I'm
- 31:43Speaker 2: just not going to do it. Yeah, and so if
- 31:46Speaker 2: you also want to bring your skincare back to the basics,
- 31:49Speaker 2: you don't need to be doing a bunch of shit. Also,
- 31:51Speaker 2: you can go and speak to a dermatologist to see
- 31:53Speaker 2: if you also have an impaired skin barrier. But for me,
- 31:56Speaker 2: what she recommended doing was double cleansing, So one with
- 32:00Speaker 2: a cleansing bomb, and then a gentle cleanser, and then
- 32:04Speaker 2: incorporating a vitamin serum or a barrier repair serum, so
- 32:08Speaker 2: vitamin either EA or C.
- 32:10Speaker 1: She was like, I don't care, I just like use
- 32:12Speaker 1: a vitamin.
- 32:12Speaker 2: I was like, I love that, and then a moisturizer,
- 32:16Speaker 2: and then of course you're SBF. And I think the
- 32:19Speaker 2: thing with SBF as well is we're not using enough.
- 32:22Speaker 2: We're not using enough SBF and we're using too many actives.
- 32:26Speaker 2: So even with the actives, I would think I was
- 32:28Speaker 2: using it basically every night, and whereas now she's like,
- 32:31Speaker 2: use it two nights away, Max, And I've definitely seen
- 32:35Speaker 2: the biggest difference in one my consistency in doing my
- 32:38Speaker 2: skincare routine and to my skin. I also again want
- 32:44Speaker 2: to repeat this is just for my skin personally like it.
- 32:48Speaker 1: It obviously will differ for.
- 32:49Speaker 2: Everyone, Like I can't diagnose you from behind a microphone.
- 32:53Speaker 2: Wish I could would save you money, but yes, and
- 32:57Speaker 2: so we're not using enough SPF. And like we said
- 33:00Speaker 2: at the start, if you're not using SBF, the recipe
- 33:03Speaker 2: skincare is basically a moot point because, as reported by
- 33:06Speaker 2: a lum magazine and according to Board certified dermatologist Marisa
- 33:10Speaker 2: Garshik MD. She recommends applying a nickel sized dollop of
- 33:15Speaker 2: sunscreen to the face and neck, so that's equivalent because
- 33:18Speaker 2: we don't use nickels in Australia to about half a
- 33:22Speaker 2: teaspoon or two fingers length. Yeah, when I started applying
- 33:26Speaker 2: this much, I was like, that's a lot, but that's
- 33:29Speaker 2: what you need. It will feel like a lot compared
- 33:32Speaker 2: to what you may have been doing before.
- 33:34Speaker 1: But I was like, damn.
- 33:36Speaker 2: And then there was this last little quote that I
- 33:38Speaker 2: saw that I thought was like the perfect thing to
- 33:39Speaker 2: end on, because if you ever are about to skip
- 33:43Speaker 2: your sunscreen, which you know, as I'm saying guilty, there's
- 33:48Speaker 2: this quote that says nothing looks better in your fifties
- 33:50Speaker 2: and sunscreen in your twenties.
- 33:52Speaker 4: I don't right love that I know.
- 33:55Speaker 2: And so the inexpensive blow up tap here is also
- 33:58Speaker 2: you don't have to spend a lot of money on
- 34:00Speaker 2: an SBF. Australia has such strict regulations for sbfs to
- 34:05Speaker 2: be able to be put in shotps that the best
- 34:09Speaker 2: SPF is the one that you wear. So if you
- 34:12Speaker 2: want to splurge, like I love like the ultraviolet.
- 34:15Speaker 1: And the alpha h ones.
- 34:16Speaker 2: You don't have to splurge on an SBF, just buy
- 34:18Speaker 2: one and wear it exactly your two fingers length.
- 34:21Speaker 1: There's some dirty joke I could make.
- 34:23Speaker 2: In there, but I'm gonna I'm gonna leave it.
- 34:25Speaker 3: Yeah, we'll be mature, all right.
- 34:27Speaker 2: Our last one's a bit of like a joint one
- 34:29Speaker 2: that we found at the same time.
- 34:32Speaker 3: It is take care of your base and don't focus
- 34:35Speaker 3: on the accessories.
- 34:37Speaker 1: I love this.
- 34:38Speaker 2: So there's this really good quote by Scarlet Fraser. She
- 34:41Speaker 2: has like this sleepover Club, and it's about how no
- 34:43Speaker 2: one notices if your lit gloss is to your if
- 34:46Speaker 2: your masca is wyresl, or if your blazer is three
- 34:49Speaker 2: hundred dollars. But what they do notice is you know
- 34:53Speaker 2: your skin, your hair, your teeth, your nails. Wanting to
- 34:56Speaker 2: preface this again, who fucking cares if people notice what
- 34:59Speaker 2: you look client? Yeah, but I think it's a good
- 35:02Speaker 2: reminder that you don't have to spend lots of money
- 35:05Speaker 2: on other things like you can just really invest in
- 35:08Speaker 2: yourself and your body and your vessel as it is.
- 35:12Speaker 2: And I think again, one of the mistakes I've made
- 35:15Speaker 2: growing up is thinking I need the expensive thing to
- 35:18Speaker 2: look nice or feel nice about myself, and then I
- 35:21Speaker 2: kind of just feel bad about spending the expensive money
- 35:24Speaker 2: when really I could have just used vassaline on my
- 35:28Speaker 2: lips rather than a.
- 35:29Speaker 1: Sixty dollars lip gloss.
- 35:30Speaker 2: M Bassosha actually continues to sli.
- 35:37Speaker 1: Little fairy godmother.
- 35:38Speaker 2: No, I don't think we should be seeking validation from
- 35:42Speaker 2: external sources.
- 35:44Speaker 1: I saw You're gonna fucking hate this.
- 35:46Speaker 2: Who that male gaze makeup is trending. So I saw
- 35:51Speaker 2: this in the last forty eight hours, and it's basically
- 35:55Speaker 2: the style of makeup to where that men would find attractive.
- 35:59Speaker 4: What the fuck?
- 36:00Speaker 3: What do you say?
- 36:00Speaker 2: No, well, it's very like dull eyed, like you know
- 36:07Speaker 2: what I mean.
- 36:07Speaker 1: Like obviously what people can do whatever they want to do.
- 36:10Speaker 2: But I just find that trend in itself so fucking problematic.
- 36:14Speaker 3: Yeah, there's a few things like that going around these
- 36:16Speaker 3: days that I'm like, where'd we go wrong?
- 36:19Speaker 2: But anyway, but yeah, I'm like, you should never be
- 36:22Speaker 2: wearing makeup for someone else. You should wear it because
- 36:26Speaker 2: you like to play with it and it feels fun
- 36:28Speaker 2: and it makes you feel nice. Fucking put some purple
- 36:31Speaker 2: eyeshadow on and slay.
- 36:33Speaker 1: The day away.
- 36:34Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, if you want to wear your Lime
- 36:36Speaker 2: Crime coral lipstick, where your Lime Crime coral lipstick?
- 36:40Speaker 3: She did, She sure did, and she wasn't doing it
- 36:43Speaker 3: for the male gaze.
- 36:43Speaker 1: Let me tell you exactly.
- 36:45Speaker 2: But you know, he Sarah, I'm not going to tell
- 36:47Speaker 2: anyone what to do. But I would just hate for
- 36:49Speaker 2: younger generations to be seeing this male gaze makeup trend
- 36:53Speaker 2: and think that that's what they have to wear to
- 36:55Speaker 2: be beautiful.
- 36:56Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, because that's just not it.
- 37:00Speaker 2: And it's probably only because we are a little bit
- 37:01Speaker 2: older and we've lived through things like that to be
- 37:04Speaker 2: able to look at it and.
- 37:05Speaker 1: Be like, oh, that's just a bit silly.
- 37:06Speaker 4: Yeah, exactly.
- 37:09Speaker 2: And like the videos that I was watching, there was
- 37:10Speaker 2: always like a bit of a disclaimer in it, being like, obviously,
- 37:14Speaker 2: like you don't have to wear makeup for anyone, but
- 37:16Speaker 2: this is like the male gaze, and then continue to
- 37:18Speaker 2: do it. I'm like, but what, Yeah, are we a
- 37:22Speaker 2: little bit contradictory?
- 37:23Speaker 3: Yeah, like just the most empty disclaimer ever.
- 37:26Speaker 1: I also just like I feel like that term.
- 37:30Speaker 2: I'm like that term the male gaze is rooted in
- 37:33Speaker 2: like the sexualization of women.
- 37:35Speaker 1: Yeah, and now we're doing that as a makeup freend.
- 37:37Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly, fucking bin bro. Yeah, it's not for me. Yeah,
- 37:42Speaker 3: I will not be wearing makeup ever again in protest. Yeah. Yeah.
- 37:53Speaker 2: So this tip take care of the base and don't
- 37:55Speaker 2: focus on the accessories. And I think since doing this
- 37:59Speaker 2: and building that more of a routine, I've definitely felt
- 38:02Speaker 2: just a lot better, like in myself as well, because
- 38:04Speaker 2: building the routine and taking time to look after yourself
- 38:07Speaker 2: like doing a hair mask and doing your skincare routine.
- 38:10Speaker 1: That's self care.
- 38:11Speaker 2: It's not necessarily about how you look or anything like that.
- 38:15Speaker 2: And the thing that I did really love about this
- 38:16Speaker 2: tip is it's basically like you don't need to spend
- 38:18Speaker 2: a shit ton of money all the time because no
- 38:21Speaker 2: one really knows.
- 38:22Speaker 3: Yeah, And rather than like how you look, it's more
- 38:26Speaker 3: so about how you feel and the genuine health of
- 38:30Speaker 3: your skin and your hair and actually taking the time
- 38:35Speaker 3: to maybe speak to a professional or doing the research
- 38:37Speaker 3: and figuring out what works for you specifically, and focusing
- 38:41Speaker 3: on the health of your skin and hair rather than
- 38:44Speaker 3: how it looks to impress somebody else.
- 38:46Speaker 2: Literally, like in all of these tips, the option that
- 38:51Speaker 2: was spending a lot of money never benefited me, Like
- 38:56Speaker 2: spending heaps of money on like lots of skin care
- 38:59Speaker 2: products fucked my skin barrier, spending lots of money on
- 39:02Speaker 2: like getting a bunch of filler fucked my face, like,
- 39:06Speaker 2: and just spending a lot of money on, you know,
- 39:08Speaker 2: different beauty products, which definitely there are some beauty products
- 39:13Speaker 2: that aris blurge and I absolutely love them, but when
- 39:17Speaker 2: I couldn't afford them, I was spending money on them,
- 39:20Speaker 2: and it's just not necessary when you could be getting
- 39:23Speaker 2: the vaso babe.
- 39:24Speaker 1: Yeah, with that fucker out once again, you're on a dream.
- 39:27Speaker 2: Yeah, so yeah, those are inexpensive.
- 39:31Speaker 1: WoT tips? Should we get into a voice of the chick.
- 39:34Speaker 3: Advice with the chicks?
- 39:40Speaker 4: Chicks?
- 39:41Speaker 3: I'm rotting? I understand every day I'm in my rot
- 39:46Speaker 3: girl era and I look like Shrek and Donkey had
- 39:49Speaker 3: a baby together, and I'm the least hot I've ever
- 39:53Speaker 3: been in my life.
- 39:54Speaker 4: But I need to get my mojo back.
- 39:57Speaker 3: How do you peel yourself out of a rot and
- 39:59Speaker 3: start feeling yourself again? Because the vibes ain't vibe and
- 40:03Speaker 3: oh my god, al I feel.
- 40:05Speaker 4: Like take it away, baby.
- 40:08Speaker 2: I want to start with saying I want to see
- 40:10Speaker 2: what Shrek and Donkeys baby looks like.
- 40:13Speaker 4: Why did I Why?
- 40:14Speaker 3: Immediately I was like, oh, oh my god, what's wrong
- 40:17Speaker 3: with that?
- 40:18Speaker 1: They both have great energy?
- 40:19Speaker 2: Yeah, oh my fucking god. I feel like this was
- 40:22Speaker 2: me like a couple months ago, and I started doing
- 40:25Speaker 2: a bit of a reset, and the whole reset was
- 40:29Speaker 2: not about how I looked, but was about how I felt.
- 40:32Speaker 2: So I was just so tired all the time. I
- 40:35Speaker 2: had no vibes, no energy, and was just like a
- 40:38Speaker 2: bit of a slug. And I feel like it's identifying
- 40:42Speaker 2: habits that aren't setting you up to get out of
- 40:45Speaker 2: a rut. So it's like staying in bed, picking up
- 40:48Speaker 2: your phone, like all the things that we know aren't
- 40:50Speaker 2: good for us that Like, I know it's easy for
- 40:52Speaker 2: me to be like, oh, don't pick up your phone,
- 40:55Speaker 2: it's the first thing in the morning, but it's like
- 40:57Speaker 2: you're gonna do that. So the thing is drop kicking
- 41:00Speaker 2: into another room, like my phone goes on charge in
- 41:03Speaker 2: another room. And then it's like putting out not daily habits,
- 41:08Speaker 2: not like seventy five Challenge vibes, but goals, because not
- 41:12Speaker 2: every day do I do the things that I set
- 41:13Speaker 2: in my reset that I want to do, but it's
- 41:15Speaker 2: starting being like, Okay, do you know what, I'm just
- 41:18Speaker 2: gonna go and get some sun. I think the first
- 41:21Speaker 2: thing and the easiest thing and the most inexpensive thing
- 41:24Speaker 2: to get out of a rut and to get out
- 41:26Speaker 2: of your rot error is to go into your lizard
- 41:28Speaker 2: girl era.
- 41:29Speaker 3: Yeah, so true.
- 41:30Speaker 1: Right.
- 41:30Speaker 2: So, in the last three months, I've seen a GP,
- 41:34Speaker 2: a therapist, and a dermatologist and the one consistent tip
- 41:38Speaker 2: from all of them was to spend some time in
- 41:41Speaker 2: the sun.
- 41:41Speaker 1: It is so good for your mental health.
- 41:43Speaker 2: It is so good for your body, it is so
- 41:46Speaker 2: good for your skin. Like the serotonin hit from the
- 41:49Speaker 2: sun is just like chef's keys, and it's going to
- 41:53Speaker 2: give you that motivation to also do the other things.
- 41:56Speaker 2: It's like finding the key that unlocks all the other
- 41:59Speaker 2: things that you want to do on your day.
- 42:01Speaker 1: Then you're not going to do it every day.
- 42:02Speaker 2: But like Alexis in our episode with her said, do
- 42:06Speaker 2: the things you want to do when it's hard. So
- 42:08Speaker 2: like when you're waking up and you're blind's down and
- 42:10Speaker 2: it's dark and cozy and warm in your bed. Yeah,
- 42:12Speaker 2: of course you want to stay in that same and
- 42:14Speaker 2: even if it's like the three two one method where
- 42:17Speaker 2: you count out loud and you go three to one and.
- 42:19Speaker 3: You literally like launch yourself out of bed.
- 42:23Speaker 2: And then even if it's just thirty seconds in the sun,
- 42:26Speaker 2: just somewhere wherever there's sun in your house or apartment,
- 42:29Speaker 2: or if you've got a balcony or a backyard, just
- 42:31Speaker 2: go and see it in the sun. It costs zero
- 42:33Speaker 2: dollars and I promise it will transform your day. Yeah,
- 42:37Speaker 2: because I think if I give you a list of
- 42:39Speaker 2: like five things to do every day, you're not going
- 42:41Speaker 2: to do it. So start just start with that, and
- 42:44Speaker 2: then you can list out all the other things you
- 42:47Speaker 2: want to do from there.
- 42:48Speaker 1: But it's fine in the key. I know when I
- 42:49Speaker 1: do that, it means I will move my body.
- 42:51Speaker 2: When I move my body, I will drink water. When
- 42:54Speaker 2: I drink water and I move my body, I'm a
- 42:55Speaker 2: lot more productive and my brain's happy and she's not
- 42:58Speaker 2: saying mean things to me.
- 43:00Speaker 1: Yep, you know.
- 43:00Speaker 2: And it just it's that flowing effect of one thing.
- 43:03Speaker 1: So also send us photo of what Shreck and Nogi's baby.
- 43:07Speaker 2: Because you're about to enter your Fiona and Dragon baby.
- 43:10Speaker 1: Error.
- 43:11Speaker 2: Yes, I love that Dragon Oh my god, she's so camp.
- 43:15Speaker 3: She is like a really underrated character.
- 43:17Speaker 2: She's also going to be a live show guest.
- 43:19Speaker 3: So yeah, get your tickets. Like we said, teams is
- 43:22Speaker 3: applied just by the tickets. First, you don't ask a question, but.
- 43:26Speaker 1: That is a wrap to remind you.
- 43:28Speaker 4: We are so excited to be doing our.
- 43:30Speaker 2: First live show whatever, and we can't wait to meet
- 43:33Speaker 2: all your chicks there.
- 43:34Speaker 3: So I'm coming to crowd.
- 43:37Speaker 6: Tie into the crowd girls words, Karen, Yeah, exactly, love it.
- 43:55Speaker 1: Oh well, thank you chicks, and hopefully you'll be in your.
- 43:57Speaker 4: Ehels in person.
- 44:00Speaker 3: Oh my god, and thank you.
- 44:02Speaker 2: To m I k Made for making this episode of
- 44:04Speaker 2: two broad chicks happen. Let's glow, baby, Let's glow yet it.
- 44:09Speaker 1: I'm gonna go wash my makeup brushes.
- 44:10Speaker 3: No one believe me.
- 44:11Speaker 5: Please
