- 0:04Speaker 3: Hi, Hello, Hello?
- 0:08Speaker 2: Are you ready for Thanksgiving? What are you doing? What
- 0:10Speaker 2: are you going to do for Thanksgiving?
- 0:12Speaker 3: You know, I'm going to spend some time with my family,
- 0:14Speaker 3: which should be really fun. Are you ready?
- 0:19Speaker 2: Almost? That means he's not ready at all.
- 0:21Speaker 3: No, not at all, not even a little bit.
- 0:24Speaker 2: But we got healthy happy holiday habits.
- 0:29Speaker 3: Yeah, lots of us.
- 0:31Speaker 2: That's right. So what where we start here?
- 0:34Speaker 3: As the first recommendation is to stay active, well, keep
- 0:39Speaker 3: moving your body.
- 0:42Speaker 2: Start out with a downer.
- 0:45Speaker 3: To a great start, you know, I know, like I.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Know families who uh they play like touch football Thanksgiving that.
- 0:59Speaker 3: Or the morning Turkey run. There's there's lots of fun track.
- 1:02Speaker 2: I did that one and up. Yeah.
- 1:07Speaker 3: Oh nice. I thought that was beautiful.
- 1:09Speaker 2: It was yeah, it was hard to.
- 1:13Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, but it's a good I mean, it really.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Is good to have traditions like that.
- 1:18Speaker 3: Hmm. Yeah. It's a nice way to connect with the
- 1:20Speaker 3: people that you're spending time with and also just keep
- 1:22Speaker 3: your body healthy and a little bit more active during
- 1:25Speaker 3: the holidays.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Okay, so now, my how mindful eating? Come on?
- 1:31Speaker 2: Really? With all of that shows you do not.
- 1:33Speaker 3: Like any of these tips todays.
- 1:35Speaker 2: I'm not sure I do. But but how can I
- 1:39Speaker 2: do that? How can I practice mindful eating?
- 1:41Speaker 3: So mindful eating is simply paying attention while you eat,
- 1:46Speaker 3: so it gives us more opportunity to really enjoy and
- 1:49Speaker 3: savor our food. So if you're eating your very favorite rolls,
- 1:54Speaker 3: turkey pie, whatever it might be, slow down, chew your
- 1:59Speaker 3: bike thoroughly, notice the taste, the texture, and just really
- 2:04Speaker 3: enjoy it.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Okay, all right, I'll try that.
- 2:08Speaker 1: You will, Okay, Now the next one, this, this seems
- 2:11Speaker 1: just common sense, but I guess people try to push
- 2:15Speaker 1: things as they want to be with family.
- 2:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it. I think it's worth repeating. You know,
- 2:20Speaker 3: stay home if you're sick, and lots of us have
- 2:24Speaker 3: cold flus, those kinds of things during this time of year.
- 2:28Speaker 3: So just take your precautions. If you do have to
- 2:31Speaker 3: be out in public and you're feeling under the weather,
- 2:34Speaker 3: remember wash your hands, wear a mask, just those basic
- 2:37Speaker 3: take care of yourself and help take care of others
- 2:40Speaker 3: types of things.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Okay, next, we have get enough sleep, that'll be easier.
- 2:46Speaker 2: That's not a problem for me on these weekends. To
- 2:50Speaker 2: look forward you.
- 2:51Speaker 3: Don't have to get up at four to get readywhere right?
- 2:54Speaker 1: So yeah, yeah, don't burn the candle at both ends.
- 2:59Speaker 3: As my mother used to say, mm hmm, exactly.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:02Speaker 3: I aim for six day hours each night if you can,
- 3:05Speaker 3: and you know, just do your best to kind of
- 3:08Speaker 3: stick to a kind of consistent schedule with getting enough sleep.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Next, we have to reduce stress.
- 3:19Speaker 3: Oh and this one I know is so much easier
- 3:22Speaker 3: said than done. Try and take just a few moments
- 3:28Speaker 3: to yourself to recharge, rejuvenate. This can be something like meditation, yoga,
- 3:36Speaker 3: taking a walk, reading a book you enjoy. There's there's
- 3:39Speaker 3: lots of different ways that you can just kind of
- 3:41Speaker 3: take a time out for yourself.
- 3:44Speaker 2: I'll be reading a book.
- 3:49Speaker 3: That sounds very unstressful.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Be present with loved ones, yes.
- 3:58Speaker 2: Even Uncle Roger.
- 4:02Speaker 3: Even Uncle Roger, I'll try. Yeah, just as you're spending
- 4:07Speaker 3: time with friends, family, community, whoever it might be, do
- 4:11Speaker 3: your best to put the phone away and try to
- 4:15Speaker 3: engage with the people that are around you. You know,
- 4:17Speaker 3: a lot of times we see people during the holidays
- 4:20Speaker 3: that we don't see very often, so it's a really
- 4:23Speaker 3: nice time to just be here now.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Essentially, you know, I mean, so people always talk about,
- 4:30Speaker 1: you know, the family argument. You get somebody starts talking
- 4:33Speaker 1: politics and it turns into and you know, I learned
- 4:36Speaker 1: this technique of saying and I'm serious about this, just saying,
- 4:39Speaker 1: you know, I don't really want to talk about this
- 4:42Speaker 1: with you.
- 4:43Speaker 2: This is not where do you go from there?
- 4:45Speaker 1: Well, yeah, I don't want to talk about this with
- 4:47Speaker 1: you then, and let's talk about something else. And it
- 4:52Speaker 1: usually works pretty well. I think what's the final one here?
- 4:56Speaker 3: When then we got to go all right, Yeah, the
- 4:58Speaker 3: final one is you make plans for the new year,
- 5:02Speaker 3: and this is just to kind of start getting ourselves
- 5:04Speaker 3: excited for for what's coming up, for what the future
- 5:08Speaker 3: holds for us. And so don't let the holidays kind
- 5:11Speaker 3: of just end and then we're sad because it's still winter.
- 5:15Speaker 3: Make those plans. Get excited.
- 5:17Speaker 1: Okay, I'm gonna try everything on this list. I really
- 5:20Speaker 1: am Elena would Nightingale College.
- 5:24Speaker 2: Where can people find out more?
- 5:26Speaker 3: Can you learn more about this as well as Nightingale's
- 5:29Speaker 3: amazing programs by visiting Nightingales dot edu.
- 5:32Speaker 1: Okay, thank you, have a good Thanksgiving?
- 5:35Speaker 3: Have you Thanksgiving
