- 0:37your mouth. Again, breathe in through your nose, and slowly
- 0:47and gently out through your mouth.
- 0:53Speaker 2: One more time. Breathe in, and slowly and gently breathe
- 1:02out through your mouth. Now, today I'm going to tell
- 1:09you a story, a story about a young reindeer who
- 1:14became the leader of all the reindeer who paulled Santa's sleigh.
- 1:20It was two days until Christmas Eve, and Santa was
- 1:25going through his list of toys for all of the children.
- 1:28Everywhere it was snowing, but it was beautiful. Everywhere was white,
- 1:37so clean, so bright. And Santa called out to Rudolph,
- 1:42but he got no answer. He wondered where he was,
- 1:48so he called him again, and then he remembered Rudolph
- 1:53was packing his case because he was retiring from pulling
- 1:56the sleigh. Because Rudolph had done this for many, many years.
- 2:02Santa was going to be very sad to see him go,
- 2:06but he knew that Rudolph deserved to be in a
- 2:09warm sunshine, having lazy days ahead. So Santa, being the
- 2:17kind man that he was, brought him a ticket to
- 2:20travel to a tropical island where he could do whatever
- 2:24he wanted to do from now on, no more pulling
- 2:28a heavy sleigh, no more keeping the other endear in line,
- 2:34just sun Sea and Sandy. Days ahead, Santa had even
- 2:40bought Rudolph some new sunglasses and sun cream for a
- 2:43shiny nose so it wouldn't get sunburnt. But Santa still
- 2:48knew he needed to find someone, someone knew to take
- 2:52over from Rudolph, so he decided to run talent show
- 2:59to find that actual knew reindeer, the one who would
- 3:02be Rudolph's successor. The talent show is called The North
- 3:10Pole's Got Talent Wow. Santa was absolutely thrilled with this
- 3:15idea because it was Missus Clawes who thought of it.
- 3:20The show's panel would consist of Missus Claws of course,
- 3:25head Elf, Bernard Evergreen, and Rudolph himself, but the final
- 3:32say would always be with Santa himself, and the show
- 3:40was to begin in an hour's time. Santa was very
- 3:44excited on shore, but very excited the show was finally
- 3:53starting and the judges were in place and one by
- 3:58one the other reindeer took their place on the stage.
- 4:03The stage was brightly lit with lots of colorful Christmas
- 4:06lights and lots of lovely twinkling gold dust floating gently
- 4:11through the air. Oh, it was such a beautiful sight.
- 4:19After seeing the seventh reindeer do a song and a
- 4:22dance very badly, i might add, because this reindeer, who
- 4:27was called Jack, really couldn't sing in tune. Neither could
- 4:32he dance because he really did have two left feet,
- 4:36which made it very hard for him to walk straight,
- 4:39let alone dance. Santa side, they only had one more
- 4:46reindeer to see, and he wasn't holding out much hope because, unfortunately,
- 4:52as wonderful as they were, none of them were really
- 4:56up to the job, and it was a hard job.
- 5:01Santa was just hoping that this last one would be
- 5:03the one. The final reindeer entered the stage and began
- 5:10to tap dance and at the same time was playing
- 5:12the bagpipes. Oh dear, what a racket the bagpipes made.
- 5:19Santa had to put his fingers in his ears to
- 5:20try and drown out the sound, but unfortunately it didn't work.
- 5:26When the reindeer finished his dancing and packed bike playing.
- 5:32They all clapped. After all, he did try his very
- 5:35very best. Santa sighed again. He spoke with the panel
- 5:42of judges and said, what are we to do? We
- 5:45only have today and tomorrow to find a replacement for Rudolph.
- 5:49What are we to do? The competition was now over,
- 5:55but they had still not found anyone. Santa stepped up
- 5:59on the stage and he asked if there was anyone
- 6:02else who would like to come up and try. He
- 6:05really really hoped there would be. It was then that
- 6:10another young reindeer held up a hand and said, my
- 6:14friend can sing. She has a very beautiful voice, and
- 6:17she is very strong. She can pull your sleigh for you.
- 6:21Santa said, well why not? We have no one else now.
- 6:28The young reindeer looked very shocked. She's only seven years old.
- 6:34She's very quiet and very shy, and she has had
- 6:38a bit of a hard life because she lived in
- 6:40the reindeer orphanage along with her friend who had put
- 6:43a hand up. They didn't have any parents and not
- 6:47very many friends because they were both shy, so sometimes
- 6:52they got a bit lonely, but they did have each other.
- 6:57Her name was Angel and she is like an angel too.
- 7:02She is very serene and very loving. She is very beautiful,
- 7:08but she doesn't think that she is, and she has
- 7:12no idea how wonderful her singing voice is. It's a
- 7:17voice that makes everyone feel happy and want to sing
- 7:21along too. It's her special skill, even though she doesn't
- 7:26know it. It's a voice that brings peace to everyone
- 7:31that hears it. So slowly, she climbs up the steps
- 7:38and onto the stage and she stands next to Santa
- 7:42and smiles shyly at him, looking as if she's about
- 7:45to run away. Santa tells her, it's okay, and you
- 7:50just sing a song. Santa leaves the stage and Angel
- 7:55is left on her own. She is very nervous, trembling
- 8:00a little bit. She moves up to the microphone and
- 8:04looks out into the audience and all she can see
- 8:09is many faces just looking back at her, waiting for
- 8:13her to sing. Slowly, she begins to sing, but her
- 8:20voice is a bit quivery at first because she's so scared.
- 8:25But she looks at Santa's face and into his very
- 8:28kind eyes, and he gives her the confidence because she
- 8:33knows he is willing her to do her best as
- 8:39she sings, Angel's voice becomes stronger and louder, and the
- 8:45sweet melodies becomes so very clear that everyone begins to
- 8:52listen intently. As she sings, all the reindeer becomes silent,
- 9:00and she can see in their eyes how much they
- 9:03love a voice. It makes them feel so safe, It
- 9:09makes them feel so very loved, It makes them feel
- 9:14so very happy, so happy in fact, that they begin
- 9:19to sing with her, and she is overjoyed by this.
- 9:26When Angel finishes her song, the crowd of reindeer let
- 9:31out a roar of approval. They love what she sings,
- 9:36They love her. Angel is so moved by this tears
- 9:41spring into her eyes, but she is so very very happy.
- 9:48Santa comes back onto the stage and gives her a great,
- 9:52big hug, the kind of hug that only Santa can give.
- 9:57He announces that Angel is the winner of the competition.
- 10:01An Angel will take over from Rudolph and leave the
- 10:04other reindeer on Christmas Eve. The following day, it is
- 10:11Christmas Eve and the reindeer are all ready to go,
- 10:16all ready to pull a sleigh for Santa. Santa does
- 10:21his final check and then he calls out all of
- 10:25the names. Now Dasher, now Dancer, now prans and now Vixen.
- 10:29On comments on Kupet, on Donner on Blitzen. The name
- 10:34he saves till last is Angel, and Santa says, come on, Angel,
- 10:42show me what you can do. She gives him a
- 10:46big criin and begins to move forward, followed by the
- 10:50other reindeer. As she builds up speed, she and they
- 10:55begin to rise up into the clear night sky, and
- 11:00the moon shines brightly and lights their way. Rudolph, who
- 11:07is down below with his suitcase and his ticket to
- 11:10a tropical island, is so very very proud of her.
- 11:15He's so proud to have Hair as his successor, and
- 11:19he smiles happily. He waves goodbye to them all and
- 11:25then goes off to the sun for a well aired rest.
- 11:31But you, though, you feel very peaceful now tucked up
- 11:36in your own bed, and now it's time for you
- 11:40to sleep, and you feel so very relaxed, ever so happy.
- 11:49You just want to go to sleep and dream of
- 11:52your happy Christmas. And if you listen really hard, maybe,
- 12:01just maybe you can hear the tinkle of the sleigh bells.
- 12:07You might look out the window. You might see Angel
- 12:10for yourself, but for now, good night, sleep tight. We
- 12:20wish you a very happy Christmas and a fabulous new Year.
