- 1:47[SPEAKER_01]: Today was Mini Camp, with a finishing of OTAs.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_01]: And, uh, Trent Williams was there.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_01]: Mike Evans was there.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_01]: We had a chance afterwards to talk to Reemors and a lot of good stuff.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_01]: I thought, um, got, I don't know, got decided, but a lot of good stuff as far as the Mini Camp,
- 2:10[SPEAKER_01]: John, you know, it's, it's, it's really kind of an interesting thing.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_01]: What are you put into the mini camp?
- 2:15[SPEAKER_01]: What did you want to see the 49ers get out of this particular mini camp?
- 2:20[SPEAKER_02]: I wanted to see attendance and health.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_02]: That's kind of what I want to see.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_02]: I want to see where guys are lining up with the rotations are early on.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_02]: Those types of things and also just a real quick assessment, you know, obviously the rest of mini camp has been completely dismissed.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_02]: And the fact that there was a safety move did not surprise me.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_02]: This is a player that you and I have talked about for, I think, two months now.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_02]: Every time you ask me Larry, like, oh, there's some guys out there.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_02]: I've said this kid's name every single time with really, really excited to bring in the extra safety.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_02]: So as far as we know, pretty much everybody healthy except for Isaac Rindo who got injured, you know, over a month ago.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_02]: But attendance, everybody was there.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_02]: That is key and I think it's almost to the point where a cow shit hands like look we've had so many damn holdouts here If you if everybody just gets their ass here and shows up, I'll let you go home a week early Just show up.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_02]: Let us know that you're not running away from us And you know contracts and all that kind of stuff to show up
- 3:26[SPEAKER_02]: Get here and now let's you go, you know, let's take a tidd it's all right.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_02]: You're all here.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_02]: Get the hell out of here.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_02]: Not really upset about that, especially whenever you look at the way this season's going to go with Australia in the travel and starting earlier than everybody else, and it's just like you know what we got everything accomplished.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_02]: Everybody is here.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_02]: The introductions install has taken place.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_02]: We check that box and so I think that's huge, especially when they have such a veteran team returning, this is by far one of the older, most established veteran rosters the NFL, so I think that helps tremendously as well.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I think it's it's really about what you just said.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_01]: It's like,
- 4:07[SPEAKER_01]: everybody you know get a great attendance show up and then show the coaches that you're in shape and ready to roll.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't see you know there have been years where I can remember Aaron Lynch showing up where he looked like he was about 3-10.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_01]: And he played it about 250.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, dude, I can't believe they're in Lynch.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_01]: He looks like a defensive tackle in this mini camp.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_01]: Some guys do get kind of bloated in the offseason.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes guys let themselves go.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_01]: And it's pretty normal for, especially on a roster of, you know, 90 guys in the offseason that there's going to be a couple guys who aren't in shape, but the 49ers for the most part,
- 4:48[SPEAKER_01]: you know, maybe they've even made they've chosen the right guys or they've implored the importance of staying in shape you're around to their guys or whatever, I didn't see like a bunch of guys who were out of shape for the most part and the attendance was really really good and this is kind of a favor.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_01]: So like basically they were going to have a June 9th and 10th mini camp mandatory mini and then they basically just said, hey, look, if
- 5:19[SPEAKER_01]: they'll cancel the mandatory menu and then you know what the coaches get an extra week of vacation with their families and the players get an extra you know week to be doing whatever they're going to do because this is the true summer break.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_01]: So I think it's something that you do if you feel like your team can handle it, if you feel like your team's professional, if you feel like your team's in shape as you stated there, we did get our first look today at Ashton Davis, the former Cal Bear, who was just added to the roster.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_01]: He's an athletic hybrid safety.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_01]: He's got raw speed.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_01]: He's had injuries.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_01]: He was a former
- 5:58[SPEAKER_01]: at Cal and then he converted to football and he's carved out a six year NFL career as a as a kind of a versatile sub-package defender.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_01]: He's kind of a safety.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_01]: He's kind of a linebacker.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_01]: He's kind of a special team's A, some sure brand boyers are going to really like him.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_01]: He's six one about 210 pounds or so.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_01]: What do you think of the addition of Ashton Davis?
- 6:23[SPEAKER_02]: I read again, you know, this was something that I was huge on just because I wanted a veteran in that room and again, John Lynch got up and joked around about how much they value and they see safety as a premium position.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_02]: He played it obviously and all those things and then you like you look at it like they didn't draft one, the only, you know, they brought in Strowman.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_02]: as, you know, a priority for Asia, right, runs like a four or seven, like you're not getting the speed that is there.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_02]: Ash and Davis is speed and experience combined.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_02]: You don't have that in the room.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_02]: So it took old, you know, three to four practices to say, all right, we need a veteran presence back there.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_02]: Because you got the three young books.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_02]: Malach Mustafa, he's going to be the guy.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_02]: Marky Seagull, a
- 7:13[SPEAKER_02]: That's pretty much it.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_02]: It was a three man or really just a two spot race, two horse race for that other spot.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_02]: Man, bring in somebody and just say compete.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_02]: We got three now.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't think Ash Davis is a lock to make this roster he's 30 years old.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_02]: You talked about a six year career.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_02]: He's made over $12 million in this career.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_02]: Love that as a former walk on.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_02]: But like somebody that is hungry, that's got nothing to lose, that has the experience.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_02]: go get it.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_02]: I'm curious who the decision maker was there.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_02]: Was it Jerry Gray?
- 7:46[SPEAKER_02]: Was it he Morris?
- 7:47[SPEAKER_02]: Was it Shannon?
- 7:48[SPEAKER_02]: Was it Lynch?
- 7:49[SPEAKER_02]: That's one of those ones where I wish I was to fly on the wall.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_02]: Like who wanted to bring match to Davis?
- 7:55[SPEAKER_02]: Who was the one that wanted this guy to come in?
- 7:57[SPEAKER_01]: There's always fingerprints.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_01]: Um, you know, you'll, if you ask enough questions, you generally find out.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you know, like, like, um, you know, I was asking about James Thompson.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_01]: I asked, um, you know, because Sarah yesterday about James Thompson, who continues to shine in Ford and Hunter camp, and he's like, oh, Greg Scruggs, my assistant TN coach, new him from Wisconsin.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 8:21[SPEAKER_02]: They love players.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_02]: They know.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_01]: they love players they know they love players they know and you're right there's probably somebody I will say this there were a bunch of cow coaches today they're a practice um... i don't know you know that they look more a current cal people not uh... we got a comment in the chat which makes perfect sense as to davis was with brand-boy care for years in New York so like you know there you go and and let's talk about davis because he's a former you know competitive college heard board
- 8:51[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and he, you know, as you said, Changlin Strowman was their fourth safety and he runs in the four sevens, um, this guy had a elite, you know, track speed, four three seven is what they attacked it with a tag demand coming out.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_01]: Um, he's also had a really good.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_01]: you know kind of tendency to be around the football.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, if you look at the number of takeaways he's had in his career, he's forced 15 total turnovers, nine interceptions, five force fumbles, four fumble recoveries.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_01]: That's a lot of production around the ball.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_01]: He made a couple of plays today actually in practice, not on the ball, but you know in the run game where he came firing up and kind of tagged off on Jordan James.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_01]: He's also versatile, you know, he's he can play the single high, he can play,
- 9:39[SPEAKER_01]: You know, you can match him.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_01]: He's got enough speed where for a down or two, you can match him up in the inside the slot against a fast slot receiver and get away with it.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_01]: You can, you can put together some kind of, you know, dime package and and put him in the box as a dime line back or on some passing downs and kind of
- 9:57[SPEAKER_01]: You know, change up what you're doing defensively with some of your personnel.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_01]: And then he's, you know, he's a, he's a, he's a special teams guy.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_01]: He's been a special teams.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_01]: He's, he's one multiple special teams MVP awards going back to cow.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_01]: So.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_01]: I, you know, in a lot of ways, it's, you know, I love to see the man, maybe another younger safety this summer to compete just in case there's an injury or two, but, you know, I like the idea of Ashden Davis potentially winning that final safety job, because it's got to be a largely a special teams role and, and he's kind of a proven entity over there.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and there's a need for that right.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_02]: Let's say you have an entry at the safety position.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_02]: Three's light.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_02]: And like we went into this off season before free inches before the draft saying tie didn't save you or light.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_02]: They didn't add any.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_02]: Now you got some priority for agents, but you didn't add any veteran to have to either those positions and everybody just got a scratch in their head like,
- 10:55[SPEAKER_02]: What is going on here?
- 10:57[SPEAKER_02]: But it is nice to get a little bit of movement.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_02]: And Nashin Davis might not even make the roster.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_02]: Like that is a possibility.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_02]: But you have the veteran presence to come in and say, look, this is what practice looks like.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_02]: This is what meeting rooms look like.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_02]: This is what film looks like.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_02]: This is how you're supposed to behave.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_02]: And like, I don't know, I took this.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_02]: Not necessarily as a slight, but I took this as, all right, Jair Brown is not elevating so far to the point, Jerry Gray wants him to be yet.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe I am looking to deep into this, and that's the possibility I'm not Jair Brown guy, but,
- 11:38[SPEAKER_02]: You're bringing in some established whatever.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe it is just special teams.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_02]: We'll see what that is.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_02]: But hey, more competition is always good for every single position or group.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_02]: I don't give a damn what position at what point the season competition breeds improvement.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_01]: No question, you know, it's, you know, competition is the key, is really the key to a good year.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_01]: And if you're a good head coach, you know, you make sure that you've got, you know, a good competition for every spot on the roster and that, you know, and when you don't have competition, usually that's not a good thing.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, look, the one year the Brock Perti had had Josh Dobbs and Brandon Allen behind him.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_01]: He really didn't play that well.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_01]: I think Brock Perti is plays better when you keep him icy.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_01]: When you, you know, have somebody right there who can do his job.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_01]: Then you get the best of Brock Perti because then he knows, hey, if I don't play well,
- 12:35[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to Donald, and I'll play well.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to Mack Jones.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_01]: You know, one of the things that came up today when we talked to Mack Jones, as Mack Jones said, he was told early on in the off season that he wasn't going anywhere.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_01]: And that to me, I thought was kind of interesting, because it kind of played like Shanna Han was like, hey, I'm kind of surprised nobody called.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_01]: But if you like told everybody early on that you were going to keep them, I mean,
- 13:04[SPEAKER_01]: Nobody wanted to make their quarterback decision a little bit later.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_01]: Everybody just decided early on.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't know, that that one's odd.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_01]: You know, it's like either the 40 owners can't just the league and found out there wasn't a respectable offer out there for Mac Jones or they just decided early on.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_01]: Mac Jones saved our bacon.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_01]: He ain't going anywhere.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_01]: We're bringing him back next year.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_02]: Well, they put it out there that like, oh, it's going to take a first go to take a first go to take a first like they were telling everybody in the world.
- 13:33[SPEAKER_02]: I like it's a first round pick because he's he's that good of a quarter back and then Kyle even said after the draft yeah, we actually didn't get a call like I was shocked nobody called we'll do your sticker price on the vehicle.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_02]: Everybody going to drive by like nobody nobody's going to be paying a first and I don't think that anybody will be this year either now.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, shoot the Teddy Bridgewater injury.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_02]: We all remember and then they ship a one for Sam Bradford like crazy stuff happens.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_02]: And obviously, I'm not saying I want anybody get injured.
- 14:06[SPEAKER_02]: But I am curious what the price tag would be.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_02]: What would it take if a second round pick would probably be enough for me if I'm being honest Larry.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_02]: But again, I don't think that those that situation will take place unless the contenders quarterback goes down and they're not happy with the backup.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_01]: How many deems is that qualify for not many not many you know or I mean I and and just because you'd have to be willing in most teams like if you lose your starting quarterback they're just like God seasons done so they don't want to spend money on trying to get a you know an emergency backup you know I mean because they they've kind of viewed their season as cooked
- 14:47[SPEAKER_01]: So it's interesting, I'm not really sure how Max Jones's career is going to go from here.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_01]: All I know is that he did complete 85% of his passes the last time the Niners had him suit up in a game.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_02]: Is that good?
- 15:01[SPEAKER_02]: Is 85% good?
- 15:02[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 15:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's better than my free throw percentage.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_01]: 85% I mean, think about that for a second.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's like you would think that a guy who completed 85% that people would have been beaten down the door form.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_01]: He put some bad film on there, you know, out there on in Jacksonville, New England.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_01]: There's all, you know, all this talk about, you know, in NFL circles, Shanahan is obviously thought of and very, very highly because it's like, I think there are people that believe that Shanahan is made perty and whatever Jones is, he's made that way by Shanahan and that if you have to, you know, have him in your system that Jones is not going to
- 15:45[SPEAKER_01]: It's pretty damn accurate.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_01]: The ball comes out on time and that's not, I don't think that's couching in this early.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't like Mac Jones won five of eight games last year playing, which is awesome players left and right.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_01]: He had some good players, but he also had some injuries and he had to get, make do with guys that, you know, off the street like Kendrick Born and he made it all happen.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_01]: So,
- 16:06[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not sure, you know, I would say if people said, do you think Shanahan makes party and makes Jones, I would say he definitely helps them, but I actually think that they're both pretty good.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_01]: I agree.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't think everybody's good, but I do think they're pretty good.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_01]: Um, okay.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_01]: Let's hit another story here.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_01]: Brandon Iyuk, um, was issued in, there was a Santa, Santa Clara County DA's office issued an arrest warrant today for Brandon Iyuk on a misdemeanor charge tied to his speeding,
- 16:45[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I don't know, man.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's just like, if you commit crimes, you're a fool.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_01]: But if you commit crimes and tell it and video it, you're extra fool.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, but wait a second, if you commit crimes and video it and put it out on social media, you're a damn fool.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_01]: So he just gets whatever he'd, as far as whatever he's got coming to him, I don't know, it's a misdemeanor, but either way, you know, you play stupid games, win stupid prizes or what say whatever the thing is, I mean, it's just ridiculous that you would commit crimes and put it on social media and think that that's not coming back to you.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_02]: I hope this is the wake-up call that he needs like that is right as a society and stuff like all right What is this all there for what he did was you know stupid and whatever else, but yeah, you talked about it Like him as a nine or that's done.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_02]: It's over.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_02]: It's never gonna happen again Right shouldn't but I hope that this is whatever the kid needs Yeah, I know he's not a kid.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_02]: I know he's late 20s and whatever else, but like you have to like a damn kid He's actually like one mine my kids are knuckleheads like
- 18:02[SPEAKER_02]: I hope I really really do and I sincerely like say in this sometimes people just need to kick in the shores man And I'm not sure if he'll see it as that or whatever and people will put out there 49ers play to this He planted this shit on his own like are you planted it and like I have branded I-UK I-UK all blocked on social media like those phrases so I don't ever see those But like I get all these DMs and screenshots and whatever I'm just like oh dear so
- 18:30[SPEAKER_02]: I really hope.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_02]: I just I hope that this trajectory doesn't continue.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I don't wish it will.
- 18:38[SPEAKER_02]: I just know what's playing on the 49ers.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_02]: That's it.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_02]: And so, man, hope, hope it gets better for him.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_02]: I really, really do.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I don't care if he who he plays for.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_01]: I don't so want him driving 100 miles an hour down Tasman and killing some poor person who's trying to get home to their family.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, come on, man.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_01]: seriously, that's stupid.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_01]: The Niners Preseason schedule is out.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_01]: They play August 13th, 6 o'clock against Robert Solos, Titans at Levi's, and then August 20th, they play at 7 o'clock at so far against the Chargers in the August 27th, 5 o'clock start against the Raiders in Vegas.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_01]: Um, don't you think it's too home games, bro?
- 19:19[SPEAKER_01]: We get one one preseason home game, which I kind of think is almost like you're doing your fans of solid, right?
- 19:27[SPEAKER_01]: Cause now you're not forcing them to spend money on games that don't matter.
- 19:32[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and they're all Thursdays and they're all late.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, glean for that, what you will.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_02]: But it is interesting, you know, you're playing two teams that you're going to play later in the season.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think that's that big of a deal.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_02]: It, you know, Kyle Shadeh was asked about that, too.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_02]: He's like, that's pretty vanilla.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_02]: Like, we're not put in wrinkles and game plan.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_02]: And we're just, you know, working on basics.
- 19:53[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, I preseason games are interesting to me mainly for back in and bubble roster guys.
- 20:01[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_02]: The idea of, you know, your stars and the guys that are going to kind of make the stalwart of your season, not so much, especially now in that third preseason game, which is basically no starters play anymore.
- 20:15[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, so like you're you're going to get some fun looks, we'll see and yeah, you're going to get some good competition with those teams, which I'd like.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_01]: and there's going to be two joint practices with the Titans and with the Chargers and that I think the joint practices, I mean Shannon gets more out of the joint practices then they get out of the preseason games because you can script the whole thing and you know so on and so forth.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_01]: The big story today and this week has been that Miles Garrett is a ramp and there's very little subtlety to this story.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_01]: The Rams are the best team in football.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_01]: If not the best team, they were among the best teams.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_01]: And now they add the best defensive lineman in the game in his prime still.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_01]: And it's a huge kick to the gut for the 49ers, the C-Ox and anybody else who had designs unwitting the Super Bowl.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_01]: But, and it's funny, we asked where he Morris about it today, and he's like, hey, you know, it doesn't surprise me at all.
- 21:15[SPEAKER_01]: I know those guys, so on and so forth.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_01]: We asked Trent Williams about it, and he said, yeah, you know, it sucks.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_01]: He just said it sucks.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_01]: And of course, he is the guy that's going to have to block Miles Garrett twice a year in the division.
- 21:32[SPEAKER_01]: I haven't talked to you since the, since the deal, John, what is your takeaway on Miles Garrett to the Rams?
- 21:39[SPEAKER_01]: is the sees some people have a takeaway of like, why bother playing the season?
- 21:44[SPEAKER_01]: It's all it is.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_01]: It's all it is.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_01]: It's all over, sell off, you know, I've heard people say the Niners are cooked, done.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_01]: I've had people tell me, crew, you've got to cope, cope with it.
- 22:00[SPEAKER_01]: I just don't, I don't believe the season's over in May, but I do understand why nine of fans are bumming.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_02]: You know, whenever people crown offseason champions and quote, quote, dream teams or inventions comments about the Eagles back in the day, if you're like, I'm joining a dream team.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_02]: All right, you can even talk about the prod James, whatever you joined the heat and was like, you know, we're going to do this.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_02]: Well, Dirk, no whiskey has something to say about that.
- 22:25[SPEAKER_02]: And, uh, make sure that they didn't get that ring.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_02]: Now, eventually, they got their rings.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_02]: All right, cool.
- 22:29[SPEAKER_02]: But it's not a lock.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_02]: You got to show up and play.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_02]: Miles Garrett's a stud.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_02]: Miles Garrett's.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_02]: I would argue the best defense player in the NFL.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_02]: I would have a very hard time arguing against that.
- 22:39[SPEAKER_02]: There's a couple of games you would put in there.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_02]: One of them is on the 49ers.
- 22:42[SPEAKER_02]: And that's Fred Warner.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_02]: They're like, there are elite game changers.
- 22:46[SPEAKER_02]: They got better.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_02]: But I would say this, Larry.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_02]: Ed, you know, I kind of interested in your thoughts.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_02]: They gave up a lot.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_02]: Milescare's Milescare.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_02]: I get it.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_02]: Jared versus no slouch.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_02]: First round picking one of the heaviest drafts coming up in 2020.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_02]: He said that in effect now.
- 23:05[SPEAKER_02]: 2028 pick 2020.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_02]: They gave up a ridiculous amount of capital in Jared.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I don't know if you saw the report.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_02]: It was for Mary K. Cabot.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_02]: She said the Eagles.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, the idea of jailing Carter.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_02]: Browns were not interested.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_02]: Like how many teams have a Jared verse to send?
- 23:28[SPEAKER_02]: Third year rookie controlled first round pick.
- 23:31[SPEAKER_02]: Two times.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_02]: Two times.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_02]: Those guys don't get traded.
- 23:35[SPEAKER_02]: I would argue, guys like Miles Garrett get traded more of we saw the Miles.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_02]: Cross we didn't have in Clil Mac, Michael Parsons.
- 23:42[SPEAKER_02]: Like there is a longer track record of these elite top tier past structures, not of Omar Miles Garrett.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_02]: getting traded much more so than third year promising edge players like that, not saying that the Rams lost the trade.
- 23:57[SPEAKER_02]: That's not really what I'm saying.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_02]: But I'm just saying people are just discounting what they sent out.
- 24:04[SPEAKER_02]: They sent a lot out Larry.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_01]: No doubt.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_01]: I'd rather have
- 24:20[SPEAKER_01]: George Kittle is both one of the most durable tight ends I've ever seen, and he's coming off of a torn Achilles.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_01]: Well, wait to say, well, how how how how does that drive?
- 24:36[SPEAKER_01]: Because it's that's what he was before he tore the Achilles.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_01]: He was the one of the most durable tight ends in football.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_01]: He never basically ever missed time for the most part.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_01]: He just played and played and played and played and played.
- 24:49[SPEAKER_01]: Run blocker, pass receiver, you know, doing it all.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_01]: All around tight end, pretty durable until he tore his Achilles, you know.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_01]: And my point is just that, you know what?
- 25:04[SPEAKER_01]: The older players get hurt eventually.
- 25:06[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, the game chooses up and beat and spits you out.
- 25:11[SPEAKER_01]: I thought Bowman and Willis were gonna be together forever.
- 25:14[SPEAKER_01]: And then two years later, they were both out of the game.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_01]: So it's like, you know what, stuff happens fast in the NFL because the NFL football destroys bodies.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_01]: So five years of age difference is a whole, that's an entire career.
- 25:32[SPEAKER_01]: That's the difference in age between these two players.
- 25:34[SPEAKER_01]: And it's not like verse sucks.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_01]: Versus a two-time pro bowl defensive end is really good against the run.
- 25:41[SPEAKER_01]: And he's really cheap.
- 25:43[SPEAKER_01]: He's under contract.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_01]: He's already been the defensive rookie of the year.
- 25:47[SPEAKER_01]: Um, he's done his part.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he's really, really good.
- 25:50[SPEAKER_01]: I get it.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_01]: Garrett's better.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_01]: But then you mix in those picks.
- 25:54[SPEAKER_01]: And that's a first second and third round draft choice.
- 25:57[SPEAKER_01]: So I, you know, I would rather have verse in those picks.
- 26:01[SPEAKER_01]: Like if you said to me, man, you, the Niners can get in on this.
- 26:05[SPEAKER_01]: And you can either, you know, pay the price that the Browns want for, uh, for Miles Garrett, which since the Niners
- 26:15[SPEAKER_01]: I think it would be like three number ones.
- 26:18[SPEAKER_01]: I think that sounds about right.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_01]: And I'd rather, you tell me, so I have the choice of I can either have miles Garrett for my next three number ones.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_01]: Or I could just take with the Browns just gave, and I can take verse of first, a second, a third.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_01]: I would rather have versus a first and second and a third, if I instead of instead of, instead of Garrett, even though he's awesome, he's still 30 and five years is a big, big amount of time.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_01]: Well, the average career's like three or four years.
- 26:55[SPEAKER_01]: So you gotta go, it's five years older.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_01]: I'll take my, you never know, verse could tear something in week one, never play again.
- 27:03[SPEAKER_01]: Garrett could wind up being totally injury-free, the entire time is with the Rams, and they could win three Super Bowls.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_01]: And then I could be totally wrong.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_01]: But I'll always go with the younger guy, and three picks, three day one or day two picks.
- 27:21[SPEAKER_01]: If I thought, if it was like Miles Garrett for agent zero, I don't think agent zero is quite as valuable, you know, then to me, that's a more of a no brainer, but to try to play as good as verse, um,
- 27:48[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just not a believer anymore in any kind of shortcuts.
- 27:52[SPEAKER_01]: I don't believe in shortcuts.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_01]: I don't.
- 27:55[SPEAKER_01]: I think you've got to draft your way to it.
- 27:58[SPEAKER_01]: You're not going to be able to name me the number of teams in our lifetime, John, that have ever traded for the great player that got them over the top and they won the Super Bowl.
- 28:11[SPEAKER_01]: Don't happen often.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_01]: Green Bay got Reggie White and free agency, right?
- 28:15[SPEAKER_02]: That happened a long time ago.
- 28:17[SPEAKER_02]: Was that 95?
- 28:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 28:18[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, 96 Dallas got Charles Haley from the Niners and one cup of rings, one, you know, one three rings.
- 28:25[SPEAKER_01]: My saying couple.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_01]: So I mean, it happened.
- 28:30[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, like, Mike a Parsons last year was bought by Green Bay.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_01]: I think there was a lot of people.
- 28:35[SPEAKER_01]: They were like, oh, Green Bay is going to win it all.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_01]: They didn't.
- 28:38[SPEAKER_01]: They didn't.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, I remember one year Washington loaded up with all these big time guys.
- 28:43[SPEAKER_01]: They didn't win.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_01]: The Niners did it themselves.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_01]: They actually won.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_01]: The last of the Niners won was a year where they loaded up with Dion and Ricky Jackson and Denton, all these free agents, but it doesn't happen often.
- 28:55[SPEAKER_01]: And I just, the Niners have tried the shortcut with Tray Lance.
- 28:58[SPEAKER_01]: I tried the shortcut with Jave on Hargrave.
- 29:02[SPEAKER_01]: I just don't know if I believe in the shortcut approach anymore.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_01]: I think I'd understand why the Rams are doing it,
- 29:08[SPEAKER_01]: It's not my favorite approach, but it's a lot of pressure on them to win right now.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_02]: They're building their rot like I was looking at 2028 rosters like I was just going out through the salary cap comparing the 49ers in the Rams The Rams have like five players signed through 2028 their entire roster is like set to over turn now Obviously though extends some guys will see whenever that happens, but Like their entire salary cap in 2028 is basically nothing.
- 29:38[SPEAKER_02]: They have I think it's 265 million dollars salary cap available for 2028 season
- 29:44[SPEAKER_02]: They're just building this two to three year window.
- 29:47[SPEAKER_02]: We'll see what happens because it revolves around Stafford.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_02]: Miles Garrett's amazing.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not like, I hope everybody is like taking that away.
- 29:54[SPEAKER_02]: But what happens if Stafford who was sleeping in a hyperbolic chamber because his back, even before he started playing games in VPCs in last year, I get it.
- 30:05[SPEAKER_02]: You're putting a lot of stock in some older, older players.
- 30:08[SPEAKER_02]: It everything's gonna have to stay right despite, you know, this long NFL season.
- 30:13[SPEAKER_02]: I don't want anybody to get injured, but it is a gamble as you said.
- 30:17[SPEAKER_02]: It hasn't paid off a lot of times.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_02]: And you can win the off season all you want.
- 30:21[SPEAKER_02]: You can get all the fans saying, oh, they're the best ever.
- 30:24[SPEAKER_02]: They're the best ever.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_02]: It doesn't always play out that way.
- 30:28[SPEAKER_01]: Got to love the Rams chances for sure of winning the Super Bowl and then one of the next two years, but it really comes down to Stafford and it's like how much, you know, Stafford's 38.
- 30:40[SPEAKER_01]: Do you think he's going to, you know, I mean, Tom Brady won and was really good into his mid 40s, but there's only one Tom Brady, how is Stafford going to look this year?
- 30:51[SPEAKER_01]: Is he going to, I mean, one of, you know, as the old St. Father times undefeated, one of these years, Stafford's going to be done.
- 30:57[SPEAKER_01]: He looked great last year.
- 30:58[SPEAKER_01]: If he plays next year, the way he played last year, and Miles Garrett does what Miles Garrett can do.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_01]: The Rams are going to be favored in the playoffs and probably every playoff game they play and they may put the whole road to the Super Bowl may roll right through so far And they're going to be really really hard team to beat but like I guess I would look at it this way One I mean miles Garrett is 8 and 26 the last two years with the Browns now granted the Rams are way better in the Browns
- 31:31[SPEAKER_01]: But it's not like any team that gets him is just automatic winner.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, everything went with him either.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I know that too well.
- 31:38[SPEAKER_02]: Sorry.
- 31:39[SPEAKER_01]: But the other issue is, like, if I said right now to you, the Rams are the best team and they just got the best defense player.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_01]: And you can, and you've got to bet everything you own.
- 31:54[SPEAKER_01]: On them winning the Super Bowl or the field.
- 31:57[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you're taking the field every time.
- 32:01[SPEAKER_01]: And I am too.
- 32:02[SPEAKER_01]: So that's, I guess, all I'm really saying to the neither fan who's on the ledge.
- 32:08[SPEAKER_01]: And there's so many of them.
- 32:09[SPEAKER_01]: I've heard a lot of people are like, they're cooked.
- 32:10[SPEAKER_01]: They're done.
- 32:11[SPEAKER_01]: They should sell off all their players.
- 32:13[SPEAKER_01]: Lynch should be fired.
- 32:14[SPEAKER_01]: You know, Pete, the, the, the emotional reaction to the Miles Garrett thing.
- 32:19[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I get it to some degree.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_01]: The Rams are really good, but I mean, who was the favorite last year at this time to win the Super Bowl?
- 32:28[SPEAKER_01]: Do you know what was?
- 32:29[SPEAKER_01]: Was it was it the Eagles?
- 32:30[SPEAKER_01]: It was Kansas City.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, wow.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_01]: They do make the playoffs.
- 32:34[SPEAKER_01]: you make the playoffs.
- 32:35[SPEAKER_01]: And if Stafford goes down, the Rams aren't going to make the playoffs probably either.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_01]: So unless Ty Simpson or who's there back up, I guess, or Stetson Bennett.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_01]: Let's those two guys just play amazing.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_01]: If Stafford goes down there not making it either.
- 32:50[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just saying, I would rather have the field.
- 32:52[SPEAKER_01]: And I do think the Rams potentially on paper look amazing, but that's why they play the games.
- 32:58[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm not like, I can't sit here and be like,
- 33:03[SPEAKER_01]: You know what?
- 33:03[SPEAKER_01]: The Niners have no chance.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_01]: I kind of like the I didn't watch and Garrett go to the Rams.
- 33:10[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously no Niners fan likes that.
- 33:12[SPEAKER_01]: Heck Trent Williams said it sucks.
- 33:15[SPEAKER_01]: But outside of that move, which obviously makes the Rams enormously strong.
- 33:22[SPEAKER_01]: I like what the Niners have done this offseason.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_01]: And I think they are really improved at wide receiver.
- 33:26[SPEAKER_01]: I think they're really improved on the defensive line.
- 33:29[SPEAKER_01]: I think there might be better overall in all three levels of their defense.
- 33:34[SPEAKER_01]: They're gonna be hopefully healthier, but I think they're better.
- 33:36[SPEAKER_01]: I think they're improved.
- 33:38[SPEAKER_01]: So,
- 33:39[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe that's going into my thinking as well.
- 33:41[SPEAKER_01]: I just I can't you know somebody's like Krugger you know you're you're all you know you're just being optimistic for clicks.
- 33:48[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like no This really goes further way way beyond that Yes, I will freely admit that my YouTube channel like all the 90 related YouTube channels We'll do better if the 90s are not irrelevant like by mid October.
- 34:04[SPEAKER_01]: So yes, I'm definitely wanting them to be relevant
- 34:08[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm not really that concerned about that actually I really think they're going to be relevant I'm more about you the fan I'm just like you I was there in 1994 when they won that last Super Bowl and I've got four kids that I would love to share a 49er championship with and right now all they got as fucking stories.
- 34:30[SPEAKER_01]: So yes, I'm with you.
- 34:31[SPEAKER_01]: I'm with the fans.
- 34:32[SPEAKER_01]: I want that championship and I want it bad.
- 34:35[SPEAKER_01]: And almost everything that I do and say is about that, that singular focus.
- 34:41[SPEAKER_01]: That's how bad I want to see them win that championship.
- 34:44[SPEAKER_01]: For all you guys, for everybody in their 20s and 30s, that for crying out loud has been so loyal to this amazing iconic brand for as long as you have without seeing you guys seeing the thing,
- 35:00[SPEAKER_01]: Guys, my age have seen it five times.
- 35:03[SPEAKER_01]: It's time for you guys to see it once I'm almost forgetting that it's the same team That's how long it's been so that's you said there say people say where are you coming from that's why I'm coming from the clicks All right, whatever.
- 35:17[SPEAKER_01]: I mean come on.
- 35:18[SPEAKER_01]: I could do all kinds of things for more clicks than I do and I don't
- 35:22[SPEAKER_01]: Anybody knows me knows.
- 35:23[SPEAKER_01]: I'm really passionate about my family, about my friends, and about the Niners getting that 6th Lombardi, and it hasn't happened yet, and I'm as pissed as anybody about it, but I'm not willing to sign off on the season as done because the Rams got Miles Garrett on tune first.
- 35:42[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just not.
- 35:44[SPEAKER_02]: I like it man.
- 35:45[SPEAKER_02]: I think the 49ers are top five team in the NFL period.
- 35:49[SPEAKER_02]: It might be the third best team in their division, but this is the best division of football.
- 35:53[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe in the past decade.
- 35:55[SPEAKER_02]: Last year three out of four of the final NFC teams were NFC West teams.
- 36:00[SPEAKER_02]: like it's just what it is and sometimes the ball just got to go your way and you make your breaks and you get in there and you make it and I'll say this for people because like we say things that listeners disagree with or subscribers and that's do that is perfectly fine but guess what Larry and I do not affect the 49er season we are here to increase your experience as a fan that's what we are here to do and so disagreements are great and that's cool like
- 36:26[SPEAKER_02]: Totally cool.
- 36:26[SPEAKER_02]: Blair and I disagree are on stuff.
- 36:28[SPEAKER_02]: It happens.
- 36:30[SPEAKER_02]: But like enjoy this and that's the thing I keep going back to like yeah Dude Chris Forceder said the next day when he woke up he started watching tape of miles gear right after the train like like Yeah, not cool We're not great pop It's what it is You know, it's funny
- 36:50[SPEAKER_01]: everybody needs something to charge their batteries for the coming season.
- 36:54[SPEAKER_01]: It's a reason to be like, you know, excited.
- 36:57[SPEAKER_01]: I think I found mine today.
- 37:00[SPEAKER_01]: And it's two guys that I'm really, really excited about.
- 37:05[SPEAKER_01]: One is Raheem Morris.
- 37:08[SPEAKER_01]: where he Morris is, you know, I asked him the first question when he came off the field today.
- 37:14[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, Reim, what, you know, who and what excites you out there?
- 37:18[SPEAKER_01]: Because he's real positive and he's real ampton, very energetic.
- 37:22[SPEAKER_01]: And he really gave me a long answer.
- 37:24[SPEAKER_01]: And in that long answer, he's like, you know, seeing Fred and Dre together gets me really fired up.
- 37:29[SPEAKER_01]: That really excites me.
- 37:31[SPEAKER_01]: Seeing Nick Bosa, you know, getting to know Nick Bosa and seeing how easy going that, you know, he is.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_01]: And then on the field, you know, a couple guys, I mean, today, he's like, Garrett Wallow, I love the way he's flying around Garrett Wallow, you know, has been a goodiner.
- 37:46[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he played great against the Eagles.
- 37:48[SPEAKER_01]: He, you know, he doesn't really have a lineback or spot lined up.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_01]: He probably is due to be cut, but who can he doesn't, nobody's told him and he's out there playing.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_01]: And then he said, Romelo Heights, and Chris Casseric yesterday, John.
- 38:01[SPEAKER_01]: compared Romero Heights to Nick Bosa from the standpoint of how he's how advanced he is as a rookie compared to most rookies and Romero Heights.
- 38:14[SPEAKER_01]: is really something.
- 38:15[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he is really something.
- 38:16[SPEAKER_01]: I would say of the nine or draft picks, Ramello height on the defensive side looks like the guy that you're just like, whoa, this guy is going to be, this guy is going to be a factor.
- 38:28[SPEAKER_01]: You know, that's what it looks like.
- 38:30[SPEAKER_01]: For now, you never know, you never know.
- 38:32[SPEAKER_01]: But from at this point, he looks like a guy that's going to be a factor.
- 38:37[SPEAKER_01]: Um, so that was one thing.
- 38:39[SPEAKER_01]: The other guy that's really exciting is a K-Lon block, and, you know, we asked George Kittle, George Kittle said to the podium, it's George Hate, what do you think?
- 38:49[SPEAKER_01]: OTAs, a lot of new players, what do you think?
- 38:52[SPEAKER_01]: And he's like, K-Lon block is very fast and very mature.
- 38:56[SPEAKER_01]: And there was a couple of plays today where Caleb on black one was a pass in the flat one was a hand off down the middle and he's just got an extra gear.
- 39:06[SPEAKER_01]: He's got great courage.
- 39:09[SPEAKER_01]: So he takes it up in there like he doesn't have a care in the world.
- 39:14[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he is he is hitting it.
- 39:17[SPEAKER_01]: up in there as far as, you know, on these runs, I haven't seen a nine or really kind of hit the hole like that since Frank Gore, you know, and that's what K-Lon Black was doing.
- 39:27[SPEAKER_01]: Just charging through that hole with tons of force, and there were a couple runs where I looked at the people next to me and back, that was it.
- 39:36[SPEAKER_01]: There was a little extra juice there.
- 39:38[SPEAKER_01]: So,
- 39:39[SPEAKER_01]: You know, you can kind of tell K-Lon Black is really special.
- 39:42[SPEAKER_01]: So those are the two guys right now that have me and there's others, of course.
- 39:46[SPEAKER_01]: But if you said what what gets me excited about the upcoming year, it's the hopes of what Raheem Morris can do on the defensive side and K-Lon Black and add at running back.
- 39:57[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I like that, you know, usually with the pads aren't on, I'm like, okay, which wide receivers or DBs are showing out?
- 40:05[SPEAKER_02]: Because when the pads aren't on, that's the most translatable to actual football.
- 40:10[SPEAKER_02]: Off its defensive line, backs, tight ends, linebackers to a lesser extent.
- 40:14[SPEAKER_02]: It's like, all right, there's no pads on.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_02]: It's seven odd seven.
- 40:18[SPEAKER_02]: What was the day, cables like, I don't want to talk about this pajama party around there, right?
- 40:23[SPEAKER_02]: But like,
- 40:24[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, it's kind of shocked there wasn't more DB and wide receiver talk.
- 40:28[SPEAKER_02]: I did see some glowing Jacob Cowen reports, which Niners haven't seen him in a long time.
- 40:33[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just happy he made it through routes on air, which did not do last year.
- 40:38[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't know.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_02]: I like this time and I like any hype, any hype that a player can use to propel and you'll hear Kyle Shed ahead say this two months from now, oh well, we thought he had a really good OTAs and then he came in and was ready for training camp, you know, fill in the blank player because he says that every single year, it's a stepping stone.
- 40:59[SPEAKER_02]: So can the player stack good OTAs?
- 41:04[SPEAKER_02]: Now you've got six weeks away.
- 41:07[SPEAKER_02]: And then come into training camp ready to go.
- 41:10[SPEAKER_02]: It's so the names you're hearing from Larry, those are guys, you just say, okay, check Mark, check Mark, check Mark, check Mark, let's see.
- 41:19[SPEAKER_02]: But if that trend continues and you keep hearing these guys names were in camp report,
- 41:25[SPEAKER_02]: Then it's like, all right, this is somebody that you get behind.
- 41:29[SPEAKER_02]: This is somebody that you're like, huh, you need to pay a little bit more attention to.
- 41:33[SPEAKER_02]: So I love hearing these names and I love hearing these little nuggets Larry, we appreciate what you do out there.
- 41:38[SPEAKER_02]: I know it's not easy, both you and I got red cheeks for the first time that we've recorded.
- 41:44[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, we appreciate your brother.
- 41:45[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I, you know, thank you.
- 41:47[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's obviously a labor of love and we love being out there.
- 41:51[SPEAKER_01]: You know, it's a weird thing, too.
- 41:52[SPEAKER_01]: It's like,
- 41:53[SPEAKER_01]: You know, that old, there's an old saying, you know, when it rains it pours, right?
- 42:01[SPEAKER_01]: And it's funny because it's like the Niners, so badly last year, they were just so freaking slow at wide receiver.
- 42:11[SPEAKER_01]: And they were bringing in guys and, you know, special teams, receivers were getting activated and playoff games and getting run and
- 42:20[SPEAKER_01]: and you know the scribbling was not on the roster and cowing wasn't ready and walkins wasn't ready and it's like okay you need one of those guys they none of them were ready
- 42:30[SPEAKER_01]: and none of them were ready to roll, struggling obviously with him here yet.
- 42:34[SPEAKER_01]: Now here we are, fast forward to today, present day, 2026.
- 42:39[SPEAKER_01]: And now, and I mentioned this to Matt Jones, I said, man, you guys have a totally different wide receiver core.
- 42:47[SPEAKER_01]: And to me, if there's one thing that's exciting and also kind of like,
- 42:53[SPEAKER_01]: makes me wonder what we're going to see is like it's going to look a whole lot different John because like you've been sitting there, you know, watching John Jennings with those bang six routes, you know, where, you know, he turns a little in-cutter, he rocks sticks it on his shoulder pads and he takes a monster hit.
- 43:12[SPEAKER_01]: And almost like he's a tight end and he's like mastered that route and, you know, some out routes and, you know, well, now you've got totally different types of receivers.
- 43:22[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Jacob Cowing is got home run ability and really good route running ability.
- 43:28[SPEAKER_01]: And Watkins is got really good jumping ability.
- 43:33[SPEAKER_01]: And you've got, you know, guys like Pauling and Grimes and Stribbling Stribbling had a play today down the field.
- 43:39[SPEAKER_01]: on a play ball from Adrian Martinez where he looked fantastic, but there's gonna be a lot more separation.
- 43:45[SPEAKER_01]: I mentioned it to Matt Jones.
- 43:46[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, you guys have so much more speed now, and it's just gonna look so much more, so much different.
- 43:51[SPEAKER_01]: He's like, I totally agree.
- 43:52[SPEAKER_01]: He's like, well, you know, we're gonna have, you know, we're gonna have guys open down the field and it's gonna be much more of a downfield type passing attack.
- 44:01[SPEAKER_01]: So,
- 44:02[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I've been very impressed by it, believe it or not, Jacob Cowling, you know, we want these guys to, um, to, you know, do it on our timeline, but they do it on their own timeline and Cowling in his third years looks like he's ready to roll.
- 44:16[SPEAKER_01]: and Watkins in a second year looks like he's right in roll and string you know what I mean so it's like you know competition Larry that it's amazing we're pretty amazing everything yeah it's amazing how motivated we all get when there's somebody standing right there who could take our gig
- 44:33[SPEAKER_01]: All of a sudden, we got all the motivation in the world.
- 44:35[SPEAKER_01]: Here's Mike Evans, here's Christian Kirk, here's all these other receivers.
- 44:38[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, suddenly now, cowing, fills his potential, suddenly now, lock in some fulfills his.
- 44:45[SPEAKER_01]: You know, it's because you put the money on the table and the guys compete.
- 44:49[SPEAKER_01]: And so, but it's really just fun to watch, because
- 44:52[SPEAKER_01]: Cowling looks really good.
- 44:54[SPEAKER_01]: I mean really good.
- 44:55[SPEAKER_01]: I mean he's he's he's getting open down the field and the Niner quarterbacks are hidden them.
- 45:01[SPEAKER_01]: So he looks good.
- 45:02[SPEAKER_01]: Watkins looks good.
- 45:03[SPEAKER_01]: Stribbling is big and looks good and creates separation So they and obviously Mike Evans had a big red zone day.
- 45:11[SPEAKER_01]: We weren't didn't get a chance to see it But a couple people have referenced it.
- 45:14[SPEAKER_01]: So I just think that that right there is going to be where you know the number one area where the
- 45:23[SPEAKER_01]: from last years, they don't have all these super slow receivers, they can't make a big play.
- 45:28[SPEAKER_01]: They've actually got some big play guys with major vertical speed and they've got quarterbacks you can throw the deep ball with accuracy and I can't wait to see what this actually looks like.
- 45:39[SPEAKER_01]: It may be really entertaining.
- 45:43[SPEAKER_02]: That was the the main thing and it always has been said shit.
- 45:46[SPEAKER_02]: He had showed up itself right and like you Let's use Cowan as an example Jacob Cowan is a player that never missed one game in college through five seasons two different schools Comes in his rookie year doesn't learn the playbook well.
- 46:00[SPEAKER_02]: She had to hand throws him under the butt.
- 46:02[SPEAKER_02]: He bus.
- 46:02[SPEAKER_02]: He doesn't get played time
- 46:04[SPEAKER_02]: has supposedly the best off season of any 49ers player last year.
- 46:09[SPEAKER_02]: Tares his hamstring on routes on air that very first day of training camp.
- 46:15[SPEAKER_02]: I was there.
- 46:16[SPEAKER_02]: It comes back seven weeks later.
- 46:18[SPEAKER_02]: That's how bad it was.
- 46:19[SPEAKER_02]: Usually it's four to six.
- 46:20[SPEAKER_02]: He was out seven weeks.
- 46:21[SPEAKER_02]: Very first day back.
- 46:23[SPEAKER_02]: Same thing again.
- 46:24[SPEAKER_02]: Season's over.
- 46:25[SPEAKER_02]: Like, so you're talking about somebody that's had two injuries at the same spot
- 46:33[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's so so do you trust the six years or do you trust the one year?
- 46:39[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know I don't I'm not trying to like you know put this on people has like you got to answer this But that's just the context to this situation and we talked about this with Miles Garrett he's been healthy his whole career like
- 46:51[SPEAKER_02]: Sometimes you just got to show up and you got to see it.
- 46:53[SPEAKER_02]: Recapirs all the impractices today.
- 46:55[SPEAKER_02]: Why, like, like, you've got to be there.
- 46:59[SPEAKER_02]: The best ability, availability.
- 47:02[SPEAKER_02]: And whenever it matters, and you heard it, like, Jordan James, he was ascending the debt chart, got entered in the preseason, fell back down the debt chart.
- 47:10[SPEAKER_02]: CJ West, gonna be the rookie of the year, got entered during preseason, fell down the debt chart, took him probably three months to get back to where he was, Alfred Collins,
- 47:21[SPEAKER_02]: got injured during the pre-trapped process.
- 47:24[SPEAKER_02]: It took him a month before he was back to where he was supposed like injuries matter.
- 47:30[SPEAKER_02]: And so keep that in line whenever you're talking about Bosa McKell, you know, George Kittle, which George Kittle said, you know, he's fighting and there's a chance he's gonna be ready week one.
- 47:39[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think that's the case, but I love that he is, you know, he said he's running a full weight now, which I, that's huge, and like just the,
- 47:49[SPEAKER_02]: context and the texture to these situations to constantly just put your expectations and check positive and negative.
- 47:59[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that a lot of positive steps were made this weekend Larry and I'm excited about that and it's okay to get excited about Jacob County.
- 48:07[SPEAKER_02]: Like I know it's also okay to be pissed about.
- 48:10[SPEAKER_02]: Ricky Pierce on our practice and like that is cool too.
- 48:15[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, let me give you my, you remember this one, but last year in the mini camp, I was super hot to drop, by the way, next win game one.
- 48:25[SPEAKER_01]: of the NBA finals.
- 48:26[SPEAKER_01]: I bet the next tonight.
- 48:28[SPEAKER_01]: I took the next against the spurs because, you know, what, the team that wins, if the spurs won tonight, it's a dog meat series.
- 48:35[SPEAKER_01]: But if the next win tonight, it's like, oh, the ratings for game two are going to be fat.
- 48:40[SPEAKER_01]: And by the time this thing gets back to New York, this could be the whole nation could be watching this thing.
- 48:45[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I took the next tonight with the points and they won.
- 48:49[SPEAKER_01]: They're just tough.
- 48:50[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they're just
- 48:55[SPEAKER_01]: You
- 48:55[SPEAKER_01]: our in this mini camp that were really good things, you know, not all good things, but some really good things.
- 49:02[SPEAKER_01]: The receivers looked really good.
- 49:04[SPEAKER_01]: And like, you know, I also am here to share with you some of the information, like, like, I asked Colt McKivots about left guard and he said, he started talking about Connor Colby looks world's better.
- 49:15[SPEAKER_01]: So I got to think Connor Colby is in line to start at left guard.
- 49:19[SPEAKER_01]: But then when I talked to Chris first to her about left guard, he kind of admitted to me that Robert Jones is the best
- 49:26[SPEAKER_01]: of the of the guys and that if he if they were going with the best run blocker they would probably go with big rob Jones from Miami So I do think it's gonna be a Robert Jones Connor Colby battle most likely there'll be other people that will be in that mix But those two guys I think are gonna battle for that left guard spot.
- 49:44[SPEAKER_01]: That's that's one thing special with tough as a bit of healthy
- 49:49[SPEAKER_02]: He's been like that was a little bit of news that we haven't really heard.
- 49:52[SPEAKER_02]: So I think that's a big deal because he was one of those guys fighting for that spot and backup center spot and now he's not out there.
- 50:00[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's kind of big.
- 50:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 50:02[SPEAKER_01]: The other one is, you know, there's a lot of talk that Jordan James was going to be RB2.
- 50:06[SPEAKER_01]: I would be shocked if it's not K-1 black.
- 50:09[SPEAKER_01]: Not that Jordan James doesn't look good.
- 50:11[SPEAKER_01]: He looks really good, but K-Lon black looks great.
- 50:16[SPEAKER_01]: Better than really good.
- 50:18[SPEAKER_01]: And the other thing I would say is on a negative note, now granted.
- 50:22[SPEAKER_01]: It's, you know, last year I thought Austin Pleasant looked amazing in the OTAs and we got the training camp.
- 50:26[SPEAKER_01]: He didn't look so amazing.
- 50:29[SPEAKER_01]: on the back, on the flip side, Curtis work through a couple of chests.
- 50:34[SPEAKER_01]: The quackiest of quack duck passes, I think I've ever seen today.
- 50:38[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, just not a spiral down the field, wobbling, wasn't tipped, you know what I mean?
- 50:45[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't know.
- 50:47[SPEAKER_01]: I'll just say this, if you say, how do I think it's gonna go?
- 50:51[SPEAKER_01]: I would say Adrian Martinez is gonna beat him out.
- 50:55[SPEAKER_02]: Martin has a lot more experience in the system has been through training camp, you know, the Canadian rifle, this is new.
- 51:03[SPEAKER_02]: He was out there shirt shorts last time.
- 51:07[SPEAKER_01]: No peer saw.
- 51:09[SPEAKER_01]: No Evan Anderson.
- 51:11[SPEAKER_01]: You know, and Evan Anderson, you know, is when he gets back out there, it's going to be, whoa, look at all these guys.
- 51:20[SPEAKER_01]: Alfred Collins, you know, I think a lot of nine or fans think that out for Collins is the better between Collins and West, but for Casseric, basically said at the end of the year that West was playing at a higher level than Collins, I agree.
- 51:34[SPEAKER_02]: So I'll forget all it has to learn, I'm a long-horned guy.
- 51:39[SPEAKER_02]: I've seen every game this guy's played since he was a junior in high school.
- 51:43[SPEAKER_02]: He loses early and wins late.
- 51:46[SPEAKER_02]: You can't do that consistently in the NFL.
- 51:48[SPEAKER_02]: He got away with it a lot of times last year.
- 51:51[SPEAKER_02]: he's got to learn how to win early.
- 51:53[SPEAKER_02]: He's his pad level and his eyes are bad early.
- 51:58[SPEAKER_02]: And so he has to get there where it's more consistent.
- 52:03[SPEAKER_02]: They just let two defensive tackles walk that were inconsistent, Clea Davis and Jordan Elliott.
- 52:08[SPEAKER_02]: You got to get that consistency in that room, especially with the depth that's there.
- 52:11[SPEAKER_02]: But the ceiling on Alfred Collins' awesome, it's just
- 52:15[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he's got to get there and CJ West, the issues that Alfred Collins has.
- 52:19[SPEAKER_02]: CJ West does not.
- 52:21[SPEAKER_02]: The ceiling on Alfred Collins is way higher.
- 52:25[SPEAKER_02]: He's got to get there though.
- 52:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 52:27[SPEAKER_01]: The two special guys to keep an eye on this summer at Linebacker or Jaden Dugger and Larry Worth the third.
- 52:34[SPEAKER_01]: Worth is Jumbo.
- 52:36[SPEAKER_01]: He's 65.
- 52:37[SPEAKER_01]: He's 220.
- 52:38[SPEAKER_01]: He looks phenomenal.
- 52:40[SPEAKER_01]: Speed power, no fall steps, incredible athlete, rangey, way more physical than you would think.
- 52:49[SPEAKER_01]: Smart as hell.
- 52:52[SPEAKER_01]: That was a great pickup, I don't know.
- 52:54[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know who got who's signing these guys, but that was a phenomenal pickup Larry Worth.
- 52:59[SPEAKER_01]: As far as Jade and Dugger,
- 53:01[SPEAKER_01]: talking to KJ Wright, KJ Wright, fell in love with Jaden Dugger.
- 53:06[SPEAKER_01]: I can immediately, Jaden Dugger is here because of KJ Wright.
- 53:10[SPEAKER_01]: KJ, he is KJ Wright's project, pupil, whatever, star pupil.
- 53:16[SPEAKER_01]: KJ Wright was like, I got to, you fell in love with him in the process and was like, I got to get that guy, probably took him around or two or really.
- 53:24[SPEAKER_01]: So that's that and then and then there's I would say the the other guys that really look, you know, this corner battle is going to be absolutely intense because you have an ore and stout and green, but you had a jackchones and you have Nate Hobbs and Ray Brown, the DB coach told me that a Physian's price lock is really, really smart.
- 53:50[SPEAKER_01]: and that Jacob Robinson, and they were high on him last year.
- 53:54[SPEAKER_01]: Where all looter have made strides, and looter had a pick today.
- 53:58[SPEAKER_01]: You look pretty good.
- 53:59[SPEAKER_01]: I think Sauron Neon might have had a pick today as well.
- 54:03[SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, I, you know,
- 54:07[SPEAKER_01]: The thoughts of us are not necessarily the thoughts of the Niners, you know, and but they, you know, that's what I'm hearing at least, you know, about some of the young guys, kiddo was talking up Kaylon Black.
- 54:19[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, oh, so Digi Zua was talking about the young defensive tackles and he's, you know, he's kind of one of these guys, he's like total straight shooter Johnny's like the young defensive tackles look great.
- 54:34[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he seems awesome.
- 54:36[SPEAKER_02]: And so man, I was arguing with Wayne together, not against each other, but like man, who the hell are the captains going to be this year?
- 54:43[SPEAKER_02]: Is OSA captain?
- 54:44[SPEAKER_02]: Is Drake Greenlaw, captain?
- 54:46[SPEAKER_02]: Like, like, how do you get enough seed patches to pass around on this team?
- 54:51[SPEAKER_02]: Because you've got like four potential Hall of Famers, you've got a good, like, I mean, good Lord.
- 54:57[SPEAKER_02]: Do you take a patch off of Diomedor in the door?
- 54:59[SPEAKER_02]: Do you let them keep the kit?
- 55:01[SPEAKER_02]: it's going to be rough.
- 55:03[SPEAKER_02]: I'm curious how that process is going to work out because the guy like OSA, that dude just screams captain leader from the get-go.
- 55:10[SPEAKER_01]: Very serious.
- 55:11[SPEAKER_01]: Very serious guy.
- 55:13[SPEAKER_01]: Very serious.
- 55:15[SPEAKER_01]: And you know he looks really good.
- 55:16[SPEAKER_01]: He can rush the pass or he's got a rare trait and he's just really good at it.
- 55:21[SPEAKER_01]: So I mean that's that's that was a nice
- 55:26[SPEAKER_01]: What do you think?
- 55:26[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of niner fans were like, lynch has got to go and this and that.
- 55:30[SPEAKER_01]: The niner's need to react to Miles Garrett going to LA.
- 55:35[SPEAKER_01]: One do you think they should?
- 55:37[SPEAKER_01]: Two do you think they will?
- 55:40[SPEAKER_01]: And if you were going to, if you were running the show, how would you react to the Rams getting Garrett?
- 55:47[SPEAKER_02]: one, Kyle Shetta hits the general manager.
- 55:50[SPEAKER_02]: So like a point you're hate towards him appropriately, like John Lynch, I get it, whatever, but it's it's Kyle's show.
- 55:59[SPEAKER_02]: To do it.
- 56:01[SPEAKER_02]: you're talking about a edge rusher, how do you compact or react to an edge rusher offensive tackles?
- 56:07[SPEAKER_02]: You got true.
- 56:08[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you have to call to be kivis.
- 56:09[SPEAKER_02]: You, there's no upgrading over those two.
- 56:12[SPEAKER_02]: So then the average feders go say, well, you got to have a pass rusher if they add a pass rusher.
- 56:17[SPEAKER_02]: It's the the arms race, right?
- 56:19[SPEAKER_02]: Like you got to go back to that.
- 56:20[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you know, so if you, you know, does this?
- 56:22[SPEAKER_02]: We got to do it too.
- 56:25[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think that that is the best way to operate and run a business or an organization.
- 56:30[SPEAKER_02]: I really really don't.
- 56:31[SPEAKER_02]: Your mindset before the Miles Garrett trade was what can we do today to make our team the best possible that it could be?
- 56:37[SPEAKER_02]: That should not change.
- 56:40[SPEAKER_02]: And the practice of your choices should not change based on the strain in my opinion.
- 56:44[SPEAKER_02]: Again,
- 56:46[SPEAKER_02]: disagreed with me, whatever else you have five quality defensive hints.
- 56:51[SPEAKER_02]: Now you've got to see how they respond to you know, overcome these entries and you know what that is.
- 56:55[SPEAKER_02]: But like people out there go trade for Max cross me right now.
- 57:00[SPEAKER_02]: One, the Raiders don't trade with the 49ers.
- 57:02[SPEAKER_02]: Just look at the killel max situation.
- 57:03[SPEAKER_02]: Been there done that.
- 57:04[SPEAKER_02]: That's not going to happen.
- 57:06[SPEAKER_02]: And one or two,
- 57:09[SPEAKER_02]: Even if you could do that, Max Crosby's health a little bit different than Miles Garrett, especially with like you what that is, I don't think that they want to trade him now.
- 57:17[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, I think they're kind of set with where they are.
- 57:20[SPEAKER_02]: What else is out there?
- 57:21[SPEAKER_02]: Like what else are you going to do?
- 57:22[SPEAKER_02]: Josh Svett going to trade them in division?
- 57:24[SPEAKER_02]: Does that make you feel better about the Miles Garrett trade?
- 57:26[SPEAKER_02]: Does that meet?
- 57:27[SPEAKER_02]: Whatever.
- 57:28[SPEAKER_02]: One, he's not going to be trading in division.
- 57:30[SPEAKER_02]: And like, go the course, see what you have.
- 57:35[SPEAKER_02]: play it out.
- 57:36[SPEAKER_02]: If you get into camp, get into preseason, you're like, man, we're really lacking in this one area, wherever the hell that is, then you dress accordingly, but you should not be like, well, we got to combat this Miles Garrett thing.
- 57:47[SPEAKER_02]: Otherwise, Joe 215, nine or South Bay is going to be upset with me.
- 57:53[SPEAKER_02]: That's not the way this works.
- 57:55[SPEAKER_02]: Not any, sorry for Joe 214, nine or South Bay year incredible.
- 57:59[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you.
- 58:00[SPEAKER_02]: That's not in the chat.
- 58:01[SPEAKER_02]: That's not actual person.
- 58:05[SPEAKER_01]: I know, you know, nine of fans would love, you know, oh, Max Crosby, you know, and somebody, I think Coach Yack put it on his thing.
- 58:14[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, would you trade, you know, a first and a second next year in a third and 28 for Max Crosby?
- 58:19[SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
- 58:20[SPEAKER_01]: Sure, I mean, I think that's a reasonable price, especially since you know you're probably going to get a pick coming back for Mac Jones.
- 58:28[SPEAKER_01]: I just don't think the Raiders are ever crossing that bridge.
- 58:32[SPEAKER_01]: You said it earlier, I think on Twitter either today or yesterday saying, hey, look, you know, I'm old enough to remember when, you know, when Khalil Mc was traded and the Raiders will
- 58:43[SPEAKER_01]: You know, didn't want to take anything from the Niners and and probably the Niners had a better offer than the bears and yet, you know, Cleo one of going to Chicago.
- 58:52[SPEAKER_01]: Why?
- 58:52[SPEAKER_01]: Well, because, you know, Mark Davis is in Vegas, partially because he feels like the Niners took the market away from him.
- 59:00[SPEAKER_01]: So the last thing you want to do is in any way help them win the Super Bowl.
- 59:06[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he knows that's their holy grail and that they haven't been able to do it 30 years.
- 59:10[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't think he wants to be part of.
- 59:12[SPEAKER_01]: helping them get that, you know, that box checked, you know, I mean, so I just think, whatever price is for Max Crosby, I'm not saying he would never trade with the Niners.
- 59:21[SPEAKER_01]: I'm, you know, I just think that whatever that price tag is for Crosby, it's more for the Niners.
- 59:27[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, 100%.
- 59:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's more.
- 59:30[SPEAKER_01]: Um, but if you could do it, and you know, I guess my other thought on that would be as you said, you know, it's like, you better have your doctors do a thorough breakdown of his health situation.
- 59:44[SPEAKER_01]: Um, because that's really, that's really it.
- 59:46[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you just gotta, you gotta know.
- 59:49[SPEAKER_01]: that you know what if you're going to trade multiple picks for Max Crosby you got to know that he's physically right you know I mean everything else it's football you get hurt tomorrow but you got to know that he's physically right um all right couple last thoughts here the nine or some announced that Quessie Adolfo Mensa has a new title he's the vice president personnel and strategy Nick Wagner had this little nugget today what do you think?
- 1:00:15[SPEAKER_01]: What do you think of Questie getting a new title with the 49er front office?
- 1:00:21[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, the more educated experience people, Questie's awesome didn't have the best strappics, but like whatever he left here, but still getting somebody like that in the building is a huge plus.
- 1:00:33[SPEAKER_02]: And that's one of the things that I do love about Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch is that you've brought guys in, like eberfluse and wilks.
- 1:00:41[SPEAKER_02]: and you know, these guys with just so much experience, it's just create titles for Anthony Lynn.
- 1:00:46[SPEAKER_02]: Like you can go on and on, that is a wonderful thing to have at your disposal, because it's somebody that's been in that chair.
- 1:00:55[SPEAKER_02]: That's made those decisions.
- 1:00:56[SPEAKER_02]: And so, I was joking with you before the show, assisted to the regional manager, get as many white truths out there as you can.
- 1:01:04[SPEAKER_02]: It's not a bad thing.
- 1:01:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:01:05[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
- 1:01:06[SPEAKER_01]: Um, one of my favorite moments today.
- 1:01:09[SPEAKER_01]: I'll share the screen on this one.
- 1:01:11[SPEAKER_01]: One of my favorite moments today was this, John.
- 1:01:14[SPEAKER_01]: This was Mike Evans, who seems like a really good dude and Brock Perti, who's asked about Brock Perti and listen to what he said about Perti today.
- 1:01:24[SPEAKER_01]: courtesy of 957 the game.
- 1:01:27[SPEAKER_00]: He's a big reason why I came here.
- 1:01:29[SPEAKER_00]: I said that to my initial zone call with you guys.
- 1:01:32[SPEAKER_00]: I was a really great ball.
- 1:01:33[SPEAKER_00]: I'm getting the time and down with him now.
- 1:01:36[SPEAKER_00]: Super smart.
- 1:01:37[SPEAKER_00]: He's about his business, too.
- 1:01:39[SPEAKER_00]: Comes to work every single day.
- 1:01:41[SPEAKER_00]: He's a quiet guy, but me and him talk about not just a blah, but life and really cool guy look for it to have a great connection with him, isn't it?
- 1:01:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there it's, you know, it's almost like Evans is made for Perti and Perti's made for Evans at one point today, John, where he Morris referred to Brock Perti as the later king.
- 1:02:01[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I like that.
- 1:02:03[SPEAKER_02]: I like that a lot.
- 1:02:04[SPEAKER_02]: And like again, I want to put this out there.
- 1:02:06[SPEAKER_02]: Mike Evans was down to Buffalo or the 49ers.
- 1:02:11[SPEAKER_02]: That was he made the choice.
- 1:02:13[SPEAKER_02]: He chose the 49ers over Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills.
- 1:02:18[SPEAKER_02]: He couldn't win wherever he wanted to.
- 1:02:22[SPEAKER_02]: So he can sit there and you're like, oh, of course everybody's going to say that about the quarterback.
- 1:02:25[SPEAKER_02]: This dude chose.
- 1:02:27[SPEAKER_02]: He put his money where his mouth is.
- 1:02:29[SPEAKER_02]: That took less money.
- 1:02:31[SPEAKER_02]: He's here.
- 1:02:32[SPEAKER_02]: Brock party is a big part of that.
- 1:02:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:02:35[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, no question.
- 1:02:37[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, I just think that, you know, Evans is a, you know, he's an intense guy and he wants to win.
- 1:02:45[SPEAKER_01]: He's got a Super Bowl ring.
- 1:02:47[SPEAKER_01]: And Perti is all, you know, I love how Evans describes him because he is.
- 1:02:51[SPEAKER_01]: He's all about business.
- 1:02:53[SPEAKER_01]: That's what Brock pretty is all about.
- 1:02:55[SPEAKER_01]: He's not one of those guys.
- 1:02:56[SPEAKER_01]: He's not about his, he's not about, you know, going to Vegas or do this or that or being on this podcast or, you know, introducing this political figure and he's all ball all the time.
- 1:03:09[SPEAKER_01]: And that right there is incredibly refreshing.
- 1:03:13[SPEAKER_01]: John, before we finish up here, we're going to hit a couple of supers, but I do want to share the screen and remind people that John travels to the Niners and he's going to Australia and here is the here is a little breakdowns.
- 1:03:39[SPEAKER_02]: Why don't chance Seattle and Seattle as well.
- 1:03:42[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, a party with us 40 diners rush road trip dot com tickets are up for all those.

- 1:04:09[SPEAKER_02]: 40 Niners Rush Road Trip.com.

- 1:04:13[SPEAKER_02]: It's always a good time.
- 1:04:14[SPEAKER_02]: We could do in this now.
- 1:04:16[SPEAKER_02]: Man, I've been counting.
- 1:04:17[SPEAKER_02]: This is year seven.
- 1:04:19[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, all doing this for a long time.
- 1:04:22[SPEAKER_02]: And I freaking love it.
- 1:04:23[SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, it's just so great meeting people and like everybody listens and, you know, to the show or whatever.
- 1:04:29[SPEAKER_02]: And then Larry, you get brought up a lot.
- 1:04:30[SPEAKER_02]: But when the first days people always say, is Larry here?
- 1:04:33[SPEAKER_02]: Larry, yeah.
- 1:04:35[SPEAKER_01]: Larry was there in New Orleans.
- 1:04:36[SPEAKER_01]: And I mean, what wanted to make it, but then I think you were doing something Saturday, we went to LSU.
- 1:04:42[SPEAKER_01]: Florida on that Saturday, but we are definitely going to travel this year.
- 1:04:46[SPEAKER_01]: I'm thinking maybe Dallas, maybe Atlanta, maybe Mexico City definitely LA on the Thursday nighter.
- 1:04:54[SPEAKER_01]: Is that is are you going to do Niners Chargers?
- 1:04:56[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so I'm finalizing the contract now for a tailgate won't be anything the day before that's not up on the site yet.
- 1:05:05[SPEAKER_02]: I've got to wait till I get that contract and everything, but we have a location we got all that.
- 1:05:10[SPEAKER_02]: So probably going to be doing just a extended tailgate that Thursday down and so far, but it's not finalized just yet.
- 1:05:18[SPEAKER_02]: I may have to meet up with you down there for that.
- 1:05:20[SPEAKER_02]: All right, let's do our prize picks line up.
- 1:05:22[SPEAKER_01]: We'll put Johnny and I here at the corner, and we will share the screen and put our prize picks options up there.
- 1:05:29[SPEAKER_01]: And of course, we've got to change the thing over here.
- 1:05:33[SPEAKER_01]: Let's do that.
- 1:05:34[SPEAKER_01]: Make sure we all look nice and pretty.
- 1:05:36[SPEAKER_01]: Boom, are ready.
- 1:05:38[SPEAKER_01]: There you go.
- 1:05:39[SPEAKER_01]: And thank you to price picks.
- 1:05:40[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, the crew show is brought to you by price picks, price picks is America's number one sports picks app.
- 1:05:45[SPEAKER_01]: The reason I like it is simple.
- 1:05:47[SPEAKER_01]: You're just picking more or less on player stats or game outcomes.
- 1:05:50[SPEAKER_01]: You build your line up in your end.
- 1:05:51[SPEAKER_01]: No complicated stuff.
- 1:05:52[SPEAKER_01]: Just what you think is going to happen in the game, use code HMA, play $5, get $50 in line up instantly.
- 1:05:58[SPEAKER_01]: The link is in the description.
- 1:05:59[SPEAKER_01]: All right, let's get into it.
- 1:06:01[SPEAKER_01]: So let's go, John, how do you feel about little NBA game two Friday night?
- 1:06:09[SPEAKER_01]: Game two of the finals spurs lose game one at home.
- 1:06:13[SPEAKER_01]: They're probably going to bounce back with a big victory in game two.
- 1:06:18[SPEAKER_01]: That would be my guess.
- 1:06:19[SPEAKER_01]: I think this, I think the nicks are going to win the series, but I think it goes deep.
- 1:06:22[SPEAKER_01]: You know, there's a lot of money on the line.
- 1:06:24[SPEAKER_01]: in the NBA.
- 1:06:25[SPEAKER_01]: I know the next you're playing incredible right now, but something tells me spurs get game two.
- 1:06:34[SPEAKER_01]: Any of these stand out to you?
- 1:06:36[SPEAKER_02]: Bronson put up 30 tonight.
- 1:06:37[SPEAKER_02]: He's his more or less is 25 and a half.
- 1:06:41[SPEAKER_02]: So the Bronson, I mean, he he cleared that pretty good.
- 1:06:44[SPEAKER_02]: When beyond a victor was under, he hit 26 on the nose, do with that what you will.
- 1:06:51[SPEAKER_02]: So if you think that
- 1:06:54[SPEAKER_01]: I like Spurs and Bronson too.
- 1:06:57[SPEAKER_01]: I like a big thick and Bronson to have big nights.
- 1:07:02[SPEAKER_01]: Let's see.
- 1:07:03[SPEAKER_01]: Let's see.
- 1:07:04[SPEAKER_01]: I think Deer and Fox has to have a big night.
- 1:07:07[SPEAKER_01]: 14 and a half points.
- 1:07:11[SPEAKER_01]: And we're adding to him.
- 1:07:12[SPEAKER_01]: I like this.
- 1:07:13[SPEAKER_01]: He's going for me.
- 1:07:14[SPEAKER_01]: He's going big.
- 1:07:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm going.
- 1:07:18[SPEAKER_01]: Champagne down here around the action.
- 1:07:21[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to wait on him because he's more I'm going to wait because he's from New York I'm going to wait till they go back to the series.
- 1:07:27[SPEAKER_01]: I'll go with Devon Vassal here with points and rebounds and assists more on that So let's let's see what that five or the four play pays will we won't go crazy Dollar figure wise on this we will make it nice and reasonable
- 1:07:42[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, and we'll put $5 on it.
- 1:07:45[SPEAKER_01]: And let's see what it looks like.
- 1:07:47[SPEAKER_01]: And we go down here, view my lineup.
- 1:07:50[SPEAKER_01]: All right, we have a four-pick power play.
- 1:07:52[SPEAKER_01]: $5 pays us 55.
- 1:07:54[SPEAKER_01]: Jaylin Brunson has to have 26 points or more.
- 1:07:57[SPEAKER_01]: Big Vick, Wemba Miama's got to have 27 or more.
- 1:08:00[SPEAKER_01]: Here in Fox's got to have 15 or more, and Devon Vassals got to have more than seven and a half rebounds plus assists.
- 1:08:09[SPEAKER_01]: If we go four, for four, our $5 becomes $55.
- 1:08:14[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you to PricePix for being a proud sponsor of the cruise show.
- 1:08:19[SPEAKER_01]: Good stuff, their price picks is fantastic.
- 1:08:21[SPEAKER_01]: A big fan of PricePix, if you haven't played PricePix yet,
- 1:08:27[SPEAKER_01]: You should, and you'll love it.
- 1:08:28[SPEAKER_01]: It's a lot of fun.
- 1:08:29[SPEAKER_01]: And we've won many, many times already this year.
- 1:08:33[SPEAKER_01]: A couple of vlogs before we get out of here.
- 1:08:35[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you to Alamar Marina.net.
- 1:08:38[SPEAKER_01]: There at 599 999 Garden Highway Float, while you die on the Sacramento River.
- 1:08:44[SPEAKER_01]: They are going to sponsor our Greg Cocell segment this year.
- 1:08:47[SPEAKER_01]: Very excited about that.
- 1:08:49[SPEAKER_01]: Greg Cocell's going to be on the crew show on a regular basis courtesy of Alamar Marina.
- 1:08:55[SPEAKER_01]: Wednesday through Saturday, they're open 11 to 7.
- 1:08:58[SPEAKER_01]: Sunday's 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Go get the shrimp tacos, try the Boopur girl, but lobster roll, it's all really good.
- 1:09:04[SPEAKER_01]: You can drive up on your boat.
- 1:09:06[SPEAKER_01]: and float while you die on the Sacramento River there on Garden Highway.
- 1:09:10[SPEAKER_01]: Also, thank you to Nevada Chevrolet, my friend Gus is the owner of Nevada Chevrolet, it's a fantastic dealership.

- 1:09:34[SPEAKER_01]: They are the Bay Area's EV headquarters, go see Adam Rogers or Miguel Lopez, and either one of those guys will take care of you there, just tell them that you know me, and they will give you a screaming deal.
- 1:09:47[SPEAKER_01]: The only place I will buy a Chevrolet is Nevada Chevrolet, and thanks to Nevada Chevrolet.
- 1:09:54[SPEAKER_01]: for being a sponsor of the crew chair.
- 1:09:55[SPEAKER_01]: All right, let's hit a couple, a couple super chair.
- 1:09:58[SPEAKER_01]: We just got a couple.
- 1:09:58[SPEAKER_01]: We got this one Joseph Ernberg.
- 1:10:00[SPEAKER_01]: Sistaffer back going to hurt when he hoist that lumbarty.
- 1:10:06[SPEAKER_01]: There you go.
- 1:10:07[SPEAKER_01]: Ernberg saying Rams are going to win it all.
- 1:10:10[SPEAKER_01]: They look good right now for sure.
- 1:10:11[SPEAKER_01]: The Kings of May.
- 1:10:13[SPEAKER_01]: Ernberg comes back with us when Niners are worst,
- 1:10:19[SPEAKER_01]: That's a hard one.
- 1:10:20[SPEAKER_01]: That's a hard one to follow.
- 1:10:21[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, just with Fred Warner and Nick Bosa and Miguel Williams alone, I'm just like good Lord.
- 1:10:27[SPEAKER_02]: You're you're adding that plus my Kevin's plus straight green law plus also diggy zoo.
- 1:10:32[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, how many plus.
- 1:10:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, I'll say this just on Brock Perti, you know, likely does not have turf toe.
- 1:10:51[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, and he's got a way better receiving core way more dynamic.
- 1:10:56[SPEAKER_01]: I'll say this.
- 1:10:57[SPEAKER_01]: If you want to say where, let's be real analytical about it, where the 49ers significantly better.
- 1:11:04[SPEAKER_01]: Well, offensive football is about creating space.
- 1:11:07[SPEAKER_01]: And to me, what I see is I see vertical speed that creates space down the field.
- 1:11:13[SPEAKER_01]: And then I also see
- 1:11:16[SPEAKER_01]: three really dynamic hard to tackle running backs in K-Long Black, CMC, and Jordan James.
- 1:11:25[SPEAKER_01]: And they're all built, you know, kind of compact load of the ground.
- 1:11:29[SPEAKER_01]: They're really good receivers.
- 1:11:31[SPEAKER_01]: And they're dynamic as hell.
- 1:11:33[SPEAKER_01]: And I just really believe that between
- 1:11:37[SPEAKER_01]: vertical threats and then, you know, stretching the field a little bit vertically and then Brock dumping it off to really dynamic underneath running backs.
- 1:11:47[SPEAKER_01]: I think there's some, some big playability from in both areas.
- 1:11:51[SPEAKER_01]: So I like, I like the Niners ability to create space offensively a whole lot more defensively.
- 1:11:58[SPEAKER_01]: They got to be better in all three phases.
- 1:12:00[SPEAKER_01]: I think they are, but, you know,
- 1:12:02[SPEAKER_01]: It's a little bit of a wait and see, right?
- 1:12:03[SPEAKER_01]: You got a new coordinator, you got five man fronts, you got a different deal altogether, lots of new players, new front, they were dead last and passed for us, they got in Bosa back, McKell, but, you know what I mean?
- 1:12:13[SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot of factors to weigh their on defense and I wouldn't necessarily, you know, be cocky about the defense, but it definitely looks improved.
- 1:12:21[SPEAKER_01]: I would earn bird guy would see you wrong.
- 1:12:24[SPEAKER_01]: I would see you wrong, you know, what can I say?
- 1:12:27[SPEAKER_01]: All right, John, that's going to do it for us.
- 1:12:30[SPEAKER_01]: What do you got cooking the rest of the week?
- 1:12:31[SPEAKER_01]: You got any big plans?
- 1:12:33[SPEAKER_01]: This is officially, we go from OTAs to this is the summer break.
- 1:12:41[SPEAKER_01]: It is, first week in June, the 49ers are going to probably get together for camp.
- 1:12:47[SPEAKER_02]: mid-July or so, mid-July mid because they keep bumping the season up a week at a time.
- 1:12:53[SPEAKER_01]: So, mid-July, so we're talking about five weeks of, I don't know, I don't really sure.
- 1:13:00[SPEAKER_02]: Created it.
- 1:13:02[SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
- 1:13:02[SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
- 1:13:03[SPEAKER_02]: The misses, and we're looking for a new spot, man.
- 1:13:06[SPEAKER_02]: We are empty nesters.
- 1:13:08[SPEAKER_02]: The sudden moves out in like four weeks.
- 1:13:10[SPEAKER_02]: He can fall in it.
- 1:13:11[SPEAKER_02]: uh... yeah he's head out of Texas to the fire academy uh... and so yet that the misses and i were freaking looking for a new spot so where we're out touring and figure out where we're gonna move and all that stuff are you guys looking to move
- 1:13:24[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we'll downsize.
- 1:13:25[SPEAKER_02]: We don't need this big spot no more.
- 1:13:27[SPEAKER_02]: So we're at that stage.
- 1:13:29[SPEAKER_02]: So that's what we got going on.
- 1:13:30[SPEAKER_01]: But how do you like our North Carolina cost of living here, as far as, yeah.
- 1:13:36[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, you know, with two things that were shared by both Mike Evans and Osso, Digi Sua, they both were like, weather here is just awesome.
- 1:13:45[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, yeah, dude.
- 1:13:47[SPEAKER_01]: the weather in May in northern California, probably blows away the weather.
- 1:13:52[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, I mean, you tell me what is the weather like in May around the country?
- 1:13:56[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I talk to a buddy in Phoenix today.
- 1:13:58[SPEAKER_02]: It's 110 there.
- 1:13:59[SPEAKER_02]: So I could tell you, I'm not going there.
- 1:14:00[SPEAKER_02]: That's for sure.
- 1:14:01[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 1:14:03[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 1:14:04[SPEAKER_02]: Texas in May.
- 1:14:06[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, actually not too bad the humidity starting still a lot hotter than here.
- 1:14:11[SPEAKER_02]: This is what today was beautiful.
- 1:14:12[SPEAKER_02]: Are you kidding me like today was perfect.
- 1:14:15[SPEAKER_02]: And so, you know, you're going to pay for it.
