- 0:08Speaker 1: This is Kara and Angela from heavy Back You're Not
- 0:10Speaker 1: First twenty twenty five with Ralph.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Man to carry Welcome Back, Thank You Always.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Does it take much more than a twisted them to
- 0:19Speaker 1: come back down Under?
- 0:21Speaker 3: No, it doesn't take anything. It's all really a bit
- 0:24Speaker 3: laying a few crumbs and we'll.
- 0:28Speaker 1: Look for Australia again.
- 0:31Speaker 4: And look, you guys have been here so many times.
- 0:34Speaker 4: Is there a favorite memory for you that sticks out
- 0:36Speaker 4: about Australia?
- 0:38Speaker 3: Oh god, yeah. I mean we've been coming here since
- 0:42Speaker 3: like two thousand and seven, lost count how many times,
- 0:45Speaker 3: So there's lots of memories. It's not my favorite time.
- 0:49Speaker 3: But the one that just comes to mind is when
- 0:51Speaker 3: Rory or guitarist, was swinging his guitar around and rapping
- 0:55Speaker 3: on stage and he was he was holding it by
- 0:58Speaker 3: the neck of the guitar, so he's like this and
- 1:01Speaker 3: he clocked me right on the back of the head
- 1:03Speaker 3: the body of the guitar. That was probably my worst stage.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Yeah, glad you remember that?
- 1:10Speaker 3: Yeah, we've got some Yeah, yeah.
- 1:15Speaker 4: Yeah, definitely. And look it's such a memory latent song
- 1:19Speaker 4: for me, and I absolutely love this song. You probably
- 1:22Speaker 4: know what I'm talking about, do you? Ever get super
- 1:24Speaker 4: playing Sorry I'm not a Winner?
- 1:26Speaker 3: Oh of course, I mean I always I hesitate to
- 1:30Speaker 3: speak about this kind of stuffuse like people aren't in
- 1:33Speaker 3: my shoes. So it's hard to understand that if you
- 1:36Speaker 3: do everything, if you do like anything, night in, night out,
- 1:39Speaker 3: it's going to become deflated or demeaned in some way,
- 1:43Speaker 3: like at least its original intention and energy. So we
- 1:49Speaker 3: we decided to This was a few years ago. We
- 1:52Speaker 3: just like didn't play it for about nine months. We
- 1:55Speaker 3: were hoping, we're hoping to manage a year. Yeah, it
- 1:59Speaker 3: was came back and we were playing it with like intention,
- 2:02Speaker 3: with honesty, with energy again. So yes, we either do
- 2:06Speaker 3: that or we just like remixed songs, We constantly tamper
- 2:10Speaker 3: with stuff to keep it fresh. Yeah.
- 2:12Speaker 4: That actually leads me to my next question. This is
- 2:15Speaker 4: going to get a little bit specific.
- 2:17Speaker 3: You.
- 2:18Speaker 4: I've seen you play Sorry You're Not a Win a
- 2:20Speaker 4: live a few times, and every time you do it
- 2:22Speaker 4: it's slightly different, And there's no version of it for
- 2:25Speaker 4: me to listen to other than looking at your twenty
- 2:28Speaker 4: fourteen Oh No Sorry twenty twenty three high Field's performance
- 2:31Speaker 4: of it. Can you please release a live version of
- 2:34Speaker 4: it on Spotify.
- 2:38Speaker 3: Maybe. I don't know if there was a recording, was
- 2:40Speaker 3: there something special about it? It's just it's.
- 2:44Speaker 4: The vie to how it is played. I mean, I
- 2:47Speaker 4: know you've got the pendulum remix and all that sort
- 2:49Speaker 4: of stuff that it's different.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Okay, I love it.
- 2:55Speaker 4: Last on this note.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Can you still smell that basement where you're the tranquet?
- 3:01Speaker 1: Every time I watched Can you still smell like the
- 3:04Speaker 1: room where it was recorded? Every time I watched it?
- 3:09Speaker 2: I just go, I can just imagine that we had
- 3:11Speaker 2: the muster that room.
- 3:13Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, that was actually our bassist parents front room.
- 3:20Speaker 3: Amazing and yeah it got a bit trashed then, so
- 3:23Speaker 3: they were away and we didn't tell them about it,
- 3:26Speaker 3: and the only reason they found out because there was
- 3:29Speaker 3: in the ceiling again from Rory guitar.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Yeah, oh, what do you think your younger self would say,
- 3:38Speaker 1: going from selling oh sorry, playing two to three gigs
- 3:41Speaker 1: a week and thinking we have this maid to playing
- 3:44Speaker 1: Wembley and these huge shows.
- 3:49Speaker 3: I'm sure he would be really you know this this.
- 3:55Speaker 3: We were never like one of them bands like we're
- 3:58Speaker 3: going to take up the world. We have the span
- 4:00Speaker 3: of the world, like we we just kind of what
- 4:04Speaker 3: I usually say is it was just a wholeby that
- 4:06Speaker 3: got out and so like, you know, let's not say
- 4:10Speaker 3: our hearts in it. But the goal for us is
- 4:15Speaker 3: like human connection and as long as we're doing that,
- 4:18Speaker 3: whether it's two times a week in basements or Wembley Arena,
- 4:22Speaker 3: you know, we're happy. Yeah, I'm probably a little bit
- 4:24Speaker 3: more happy as Wembley.
- 4:28Speaker 1: And if it's like sixty people or six thousand people,
- 4:32Speaker 1: do you have a different warm month where you go
- 4:34Speaker 1: out or do you attack every show kind of with
- 4:35Speaker 1: the same let's just get out there and kill it.
- 4:39Speaker 3: Yeah, we don't really have anything specific. We just kind
- 4:43Speaker 3: of stretch like each other about it, waking up the
- 4:50Speaker 3: guitar to go.
- 4:54Speaker 4: And sorry, what's the weirdest or coolest thing as given you? Uh?
- 5:05Speaker 3: The first thing that comes to mind was for recent
- 5:10Speaker 3: album A Kiss with the Whole World, the someone made
- 5:13Speaker 3: the flowers out of I think it was like some
- 5:18Speaker 3: kind of I'm showing my ignorant on materials in general,
- 5:22Speaker 3: like sort of multiple glass or something, but it looked incredible.
- 5:26Speaker 3: It was like a sort of stained glass effect and
- 5:30Speaker 3: it was just such a like you and they made
- 5:34Speaker 3: themselves as well. It was just like, Wow, you are talented, incredible. Yeah,
- 5:38Speaker 3: so that that was really cool. That's still on my
- 5:40Speaker 3: I've got like a little kind of corner in my
- 5:43Speaker 3: studio where I just like, keep incredible presence.
- 5:48Speaker 1: Oh wicked.
- 5:50Speaker 4: And I also thought that you were going to be
- 5:53Speaker 4: running in the London Marathon.
- 5:56Speaker 3: Fitness Yeah, I mean no, I mean not in like
- 6:03Speaker 3: an intense way, like I've always run most of my life,
- 6:07Speaker 3: but only like three K five K, and it's only
- 6:10Speaker 3: the last few years that I've just been building it up.
- 6:12Speaker 3: I did my first few half Americans last year, and
- 6:15Speaker 3: I want I always kind of wanted to do that.
- 6:18Speaker 3: And my brother's a big marathon guy. He does like
- 6:21Speaker 3: iron Man and triathlons and all that stuff. He's like
- 6:25Speaker 3: way out there.
- 6:25Speaker 4: I don't know how he does that.
- 6:26Speaker 3: Yeah, he's once in my life of a marathons. So
- 6:31Speaker 3: I'm training at the moment. I was supposed to go
- 6:32Speaker 3: for a run this morning. I got and I was like,
- 6:35Speaker 3: that's gonna be nice to cool, humored.
- 6:44Speaker 4: And I've seen you on stage two. I know you
- 6:47Speaker 4: have probably better than half the people in the audience,
- 6:50Speaker 4: to be honest, give yourself more.
- 6:52Speaker 1: You see how today, So you and I have a
- 6:57Speaker 1: super weird fact, a common fact.
- 7:00Speaker 2: Can you get a common fact? Yes, like so something
- 7:05Speaker 2: that we both super random us your surname Reynolds.
- 7:11Speaker 3: How did you know?
- 7:13Speaker 4: No?
- 7:14Speaker 1: Actually, our first instrument was the trumpet.
- 7:16Speaker 3: Oh sick, super cools.
- 7:18Speaker 1: I wanted to pick your brain about that, because I
- 7:20Speaker 1: know for me that opened up so many It.
- 7:24Speaker 3: Is the first time. If it wasn't.
- 7:27Speaker 1: So disgusting to share mouthpieces, I was going to bring
- 7:29Speaker 1: my palma. But was that kind of like a gateway
- 7:33Speaker 1: into other instruments and your appreciate appreciation for like your
- 7:37Speaker 1: testral style of music that you get into.
- 7:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:39Speaker 3: The first instrument I picked up when I was like
- 7:43Speaker 3: eight or something. We lived with my nan and she
- 7:49Speaker 3: was probably my first proper musical motivator. I suppose she
- 7:55Speaker 3: loved her big pat jazz like Glenn Miller, Ving Armstrong.
- 7:59Speaker 3: That's of stuff that I grew up. Yeah, so immediately
- 8:03Speaker 3: want to play from a bit and yeah, you know,
- 8:06Speaker 3: there was a bit in my life where I hit thirteen.
- 8:08Speaker 3: I was like, now I'm playing guitar now, Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 8:14Speaker 3: I love it. I loved playing in orchestras at the
- 8:16Speaker 3: school und a year at UNI, but yeah, yeah, I
- 8:21Speaker 3: love it, really miss it. But that developed all my
- 8:25Speaker 3: that side of things like school, a composition and all that.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Does that mean you're going to whip it out?
- 8:33Speaker 3: I shall be whipping in stage?
- 8:35Speaker 1: Yeah that was taken.
- 8:40Speaker 4: Yeah, sorry, last question?
- 8:44Speaker 3: Sorry?
- 8:45Speaker 4: Do you what does sorry? What does carry.
- 8:48Speaker 3: Mean to you? To me, it's it's almost it's because
- 8:57Speaker 3: my life. Yes, you know, during like COVID when we
- 9:03Speaker 3: like playing gigs, I couldn't write music, lost the ability
- 9:09Speaker 3: to do anything. Almost it's like I lost my identity.
- 9:13Speaker 3: So yeah, to me, it's like it's like it's the world.
- 9:17Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, beautiful, Yeah, I guess.
- 9:26Speaker 4: Last last question of that, sorry, what do you think
- 9:30Speaker 4: you'd be doing if you weren't in If you want
- 9:32Speaker 4: a musician?
- 9:34Speaker 5: If you wow, I'm the kind of personally like we'll
- 9:38Speaker 5: get carried away and massively into something for like a
- 9:43Speaker 5: few weeks.
- 9:44Speaker 3: Like I just find life interesting, So I'd probably be like,
- 9:50Speaker 3: I don't know, a marine psychologists.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Feeling maybe I'm Yeah, I love that And that's a wrap.
- 10:06Speaker 4: Thank you, Rose, You're about to make I've always wanted
- 10:09Speaker 4: to meet you, so
- 10:12Speaker 3: My blushing thank you
