Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Hello, everybody, and welcome back to another edition of the
- 0:06Speaker 1: Ruffling the Feathers podcast. Today's episode, we are two weeks
- 0:10Speaker 1: down into the preseason where everything matters. And just like
- 0:15Speaker 1: my guys, I am stranded when it comes to my team.
- 0:20Speaker 1: But joining me, as always, are my two co-hosts, Supernova
- 0:25Speaker 1: and Brandon. Gentlemen, what's going on today?
- 0:29Speaker 2: I don't know why you're feeling stranded. Just because you
- 0:31Speaker 2: had a QB problem doesn't mean my team does.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Well, I mean, we got to stand with Strand, you
- 0:36Speaker 1: know what I'm saying? But, Nova, how are you doing today?
- 0:43Speaker 3: I just want this heat wave to freaking end, man.
- 0:46Speaker 3: California's been having it rough.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Oh, man, you want to talk about some heat right
- 0:51Speaker 1: now in California? What is it right now out there?
- 0:54Speaker 3: 102.
- 0:56Speaker 1: Geez louise brandon how hot is it for you oh.
- 1:02Speaker 2: I know whatever was going on the road earlier it's
- 1:03Speaker 2: about six o'clock here and my car said it was
- 1:06Speaker 2: 100 outside at 6 p.m so it's been.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Oh and by the way it gets hotter for me
- 1:12Speaker 3: over the week it's gonna reach 109 on thursday.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Oh yeah no you have fun with that let's do
- 1:17Speaker 2: a welfare check on him make sure that la heat
- 1:19Speaker 2: doesn't kill him.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Yeah i mean right right now for me I mean,
- 1:23Speaker 1: it says that it's 79 degrees, but the humidity is 89%.
- 1:29Speaker 1: It is a horrible shit show out there for me.
- 1:35Speaker 1: And it wasn't much better over the weekend because... Brandon,
- 1:40Speaker 1: as you know, Nova and I, we've been getting into
- 1:43Speaker 1: the high school football season. That's making its grand return.
- 1:47Speaker 1: We had some high school football action this week around
- 1:52Speaker 1: the country, but at least for Nova and I, we
- 1:55Speaker 1: had our week one games. I had to do PA
- 2:00Speaker 1: announcing for... My local high school and Nova was doing
- 2:05Speaker 1: his media coverage. And I can tell you gentlemen, this,
- 2:10Speaker 1: I felt like I had heart palpitations on Friday night.
- 2:14Speaker 1: It was brutal out there on Friday night. And I
- 2:20Speaker 1: don't know what happened, but I felt my heart going
- 2:23Speaker 1: a mile a minute. I felt like it was coming
- 2:26Speaker 1: out of my chest. They had no water at the stadium.
- 2:30Speaker 1: They ran out of water in the first quarter.
- 2:33Speaker 3: How do you do that?
- 2:36Speaker 1: It was that hot. It was that hot. It was
- 2:38Speaker 1: that humid. Also, it was a 7.30 kickoff. Now every
- 2:42Speaker 1: other game this year is at 7 o'clock. So don't
- 2:46Speaker 1: have to worry about the late kickoffs anymore. But, yeah, no,
- 2:51Speaker 1: it was bad. I had to use Gatorade for the
- 2:53Speaker 1: second half. And my friend who does the music at
- 2:58Speaker 1: the game for it, he is literally Henry Winkler from
- 3:02Speaker 1: the Waterboy. He was talking all about... Oh, wait, no, no.
- 3:07Speaker 1: He was not Henry Winkler. I was Henry Winkler. He
- 3:10Speaker 1: was saying he likes water because Gatorade sucks.
- 3:13Speaker 3: Water sucks. It really, really sucks.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Water sucks. It really, really sucks.
- 3:21Speaker 2: I'll make you understand the appreciation and love that I
- 3:23Speaker 2: have for that movie, actually.
- 3:26Speaker 1: I mean, Nova, I think we all have an appreciation
- 3:29Speaker 1: for the water boy, do we not?
- 3:32Speaker 3: I'm not a movie person, so I can't say.
- 3:34Speaker 2: Oh, my.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Oh, my gosh.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Oh, my.
- 3:38Speaker 3: Do you think I'm the type of person to just
- 3:40Speaker 3: go casually to a theater because they'll be like, oh,
- 3:42Speaker 3: guess what? I want to watch a movie. Guess what? No,
- 3:44Speaker 3: I don't have the time to do that, unfortunately.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Brandon, he's in California.
- 3:49Speaker 3: Brother, brother, brother.
- 3:50Speaker 1: He's in California.
- 3:53Speaker 2: Brother, the Waterboy came out in 1998. What are you
- 3:55Speaker 2: talking about?
- 3:57Speaker 3: You expect me to just casually just watch it on
- 3:59Speaker 3: the internet.
- 4:00Speaker 4: Yes yes that's what the internet's there for yes that's
- 4:05Speaker 4: what the internet i'm pretty sure it's even low i'm
- 4:07Speaker 4: actually about to look i'm gonna look it up myself
- 4:10Speaker 4: just for my own personal thing uh it's available on
- 4:14Speaker 4: hulu it's.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Available apparently on disney plus like if you got hulu
- 4:18Speaker 1: or disney plus it's.
- 4:19Speaker 3: Crazy that's why i have.
- 4:22Speaker 2: Nine years of services it's crazy I.
- 4:25Speaker 1: Mean, it's one of the great football movies out there. And,
- 4:29Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know how you guys think about
- 4:31Speaker 1: The Longest Yard, the 2005 one. I mean, it's basically
- 4:35Speaker 1: just a reprint of the 1970 movie. But I like
- 4:40Speaker 1: The Longest Yard in 2005. I mean, seeing Bill Goldberg
- 4:43Speaker 1: out there and, oh, what's his name? The one guy,
- 4:49Speaker 1: he's the actor. He played Brucie in The Longest Yard, Brandon.
- 4:53Speaker 1: You know who I'm talking about, right?
- 4:56Speaker 2: You said he played Brucey in The Longest Yard?
- 4:58Speaker 1: Yeah, he played Brucey.
- 4:59Speaker 3: He was the one..
- 5:01Speaker 1: Nicholas Turturro. That was it. Nicholas Turturro. That's it. Because
- 5:05Speaker 1: it's like, you know, all right, hit me. Hit me.
- 5:07Speaker 1: I'm open. That's it. That's why. Now sit down and
- 5:12Speaker 1: shout out.
- 5:14Speaker 3: Anyway, if you guys actually want to see some of,
- 5:16Speaker 3: you know, great media outlets, how about you check out
- 5:18Speaker 3: the city of Riverside on Riverside TV? Because every other...
- 5:21Speaker 3: Every Friday, we're going to do this at 7 p.m.,
- 5:24Speaker 3: we got our Game of the Week every time for
- 5:26Speaker 3: our local networks in Southern California. As well, at 11 p.m.,
- 5:30Speaker 3: we'll be reviewing those games. You might even catch a
- 5:32Speaker 3: glimpse of me. Who knows? You'll see me on Friday
- 5:34Speaker 3: Night Pep Rally at 11 p.m. Make sure you check
- 5:36Speaker 3: it out on City of Riverside on YouTube.
- 5:40Speaker 1: Make sure you check that out. And we will have
- 5:41Speaker 1: a link in the description if you guys want to
- 5:44Speaker 1: go and check that out as well. But gentlemen, I
- 5:48Speaker 1: think we've had a lot of fun this week. Have
- 5:51Speaker 1: we not? Because we've got football. We've had football in
- 5:54Speaker 1: high school. We, I think there were some college games,
- 5:58Speaker 1: but do we really follow the college world all that much? Uh,
- 6:02Speaker 1: I mean, I barely do. I barely do, but I
- 6:05Speaker 1: know there was some report that just came over my
- 6:09Speaker 1: feed from, uh, I think it was Ian Rappaport who
- 6:14Speaker 1: just tweeted it out that, uh, where, uh, I know
- 6:19Speaker 1: I had just seen it. It was something about a
- 6:22Speaker 1: collegiate player that if everything goes the way of this
- 6:29Speaker 1: one player, he will be cut in the preseason, and
- 6:33Speaker 1: then he has a contract in place to go and
- 6:36Speaker 1: play at LSU.
- 6:38Speaker 3: That's just stupid in my opinion. Yeah, I saw that
- 6:42Speaker 3: one too. I just think it's stupid.
- 6:45Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know how I feel about that.
- 6:47Speaker 2: It's a weird precedent that's going to get established. Yeah,
- 6:51Speaker 2: it's a weird precedent. It's definitely going to have its
- 6:55Speaker 2: impact throughout college, but by any interval. For sure. I
- 7:00Speaker 2: don't know that I necessarily agree with it, but I
- 7:02Speaker 2: also don't disagree with it. I think, personally, at the
- 7:05Speaker 2: end of the day, if you wind up getting set
- 7:09Speaker 2: a new make a 53-man roster that you should never
- 7:14Speaker 2: be allowed to go back to the NCAA to play
- 7:17Speaker 2: college football. However, I do also believe that if you
- 7:21Speaker 2: were fresh out of it, whether you were drafted or not,
- 7:25Speaker 2: and you're like, you know what, I don't think I'm
- 7:27Speaker 2: actually going to do well here right now. I think
- 7:29Speaker 2: I want to go back and refine my skills more. Then,
- 7:32Speaker 2: you know, as long as you have never played a professional,
- 7:35Speaker 2: you know, 53-man roster snap for NFL team, I think
- 7:39Speaker 2: it's fine that someone goes back to college. For me,
- 7:42Speaker 2: I'm of the opinion that Cam Newton should have stayed
- 7:45Speaker 2: at Auburn longer after winning the Natty whenever he was there.
- 7:50Speaker 2: I think he would have been an entirely better QB.
- 7:52Speaker 2: I think he would have been a much better QB
- 7:54Speaker 2: if he had stayed at Auburn a little bit longer.
- 7:56Speaker 3: I probably agree with that. You really think that the
- 8:01Speaker 3: 2011 class wasn't that good for Cam Newton to just
- 8:03Speaker 3: go on? Because if you're implying that 2010 wasn't his peak,
- 8:07Speaker 3: then do you think he would have done better in 2011?
- 8:11Speaker 2: It's hard to say. I mean, hindsight's 20-20, but I
- 8:15Speaker 2: don't know. I think Cam Newton kind of jumped the
- 8:18Speaker 2: gun a little bit, because Cam Newton also had a
- 8:20Speaker 2: really good lineup at Auburn. Like, yeah, he's a mobile QB. Yeah, no, yeah,
- 8:26Speaker 2: he definitely had a really great college lineup, much like
- 8:29Speaker 2: Tuataki Valoa had an incredible receiving core whenever he was
- 8:32Speaker 2: at Alabama, and we won the chip there, too. Because, Dean,
- 8:35Speaker 2: I remind you of how stacked that receiver room was.
- 8:38Speaker 3: Yeah, I remember.
- 8:46Speaker 1: I remember that as well, but I did look it
- 8:50Speaker 1: up and I was incorrect. It was not Rapoport who
- 8:54Speaker 1: tweeted it. It was Schefter who tweeted it. It's Daquan
- 8:57Speaker 1: Wright from the Cleveland Browns going to LSU if he
- 9:02Speaker 1: clears waivers.
- 9:06Speaker 3: I think it's fine.
- 9:07Speaker 2: I think it's fine because technically the season hasn't started.
- 9:10Speaker 2: And clearly I think that this is a show of, uh,
- 9:13Speaker 2: I guess kind of, I guess this is another level
- 9:15Speaker 2: of football IQ for him to basically be like, Hey,
- 9:18Speaker 2: I don't think I'm good enough to make this 53
- 9:19Speaker 2: man roster, even for the Cleveland Browns of all teams. Um,
- 9:23Speaker 2: and if he, if he doesn't feel confident, he can
- 9:26Speaker 2: make a starting day roster. And then, you know, if
- 9:28Speaker 2: he wants to go to LSU and everybody's cool with it,
- 9:31Speaker 2: then let him go back and try again next year
- 9:33Speaker 2: if he wants to.
- 9:33Speaker 1: Exactly. Uh, but outside of the NFL going back to college, which, uh,
- 9:44Speaker 1: I'm okay with them doing like online classes. If you're like,
- 9:48Speaker 1: if you're on an NFL roster, you know, trying to
- 9:50Speaker 1: at least still get your degree that you didn't acquire.
- 9:53Speaker 1: I'm okay with that. But, let's start talking about week
- 9:57Speaker 1: two of the preseason, gentlemen, because we've got some action
- 10:01Speaker 1: in there. Now, we are going to put this caveat
- 10:04Speaker 1: out there, ladies and gentlemen, that as of the time
- 10:07Speaker 1: of this recording, the Seahawks and the Titans have not
- 10:13Speaker 1: played their game yet. So we will not be able
- 10:17Speaker 1: to cover that Game in today's podcast recording If we
- 10:23Speaker 1: can we will Recap it during episode 6 But as
- 10:27Speaker 1: for the context Of episode 5 it will not Be
- 10:30Speaker 1: recorded So It's.
- 10:33Speaker 2: Crazy to believe that we're already on episode 5.
- 10:36Speaker 1: I know, right? We're already a month in, and we
- 10:38Speaker 1: want to thank every single person who has been listening
- 10:42Speaker 1: to us through these first five episodes on all the platforms,
- 10:46Speaker 1: because it's your guys' support that is helping us out.
- 10:49Speaker 1: And we just love talking football with each other. We
- 10:51Speaker 1: like shooting the bill. And, well, Brandon likes shooting the
- 10:55Speaker 1: bill about sacks and everything, but that's a whole other ballgame.
- 11:02Speaker 3: Yeah, it was like, if we really were for you
- 11:04Speaker 3: guys listening in right now, as well as the support
- 11:07Speaker 3: you're showing us on social media, we wouldn't really be here.
- 11:10Speaker 3: And we wouldn't be at episode five. And we got
- 11:12Speaker 3: to be grateful because I also need to put that
- 11:14Speaker 3: as well. At the time of this recording, we only
- 11:17Speaker 3: have like today and then next Sunday before we have
- 11:21Speaker 3: to ultimately switch our recording schedule because, hey, the Wrangler
- 11:24Speaker 3: season is almost here.
- 11:25Speaker 1: The regular season is almost here. And I've got some
- 11:29Speaker 1: ideas that we'll be potentially discussing in the backlog for
- 11:35Speaker 1: our podcast, gentlemen, about, you know, just some fun things
- 11:38Speaker 1: that we could do, you know, throw it out there
- 11:39Speaker 1: for the listeners. The Feather Flocker. We'll come up with
- 11:44Speaker 1: a different name.
- 11:46Speaker 3: For that one. But.
- 11:51Speaker 1: At least from my vantage point, we will come up
- 11:53Speaker 1: with a different name for our fan base. But I
- 11:58Speaker 1: think it's time that we start talking about week two
- 12:01Speaker 1: of the preseason. And I think it's only fitting that
- 12:05Speaker 1: we start with the number one overall pick who got
- 12:09Speaker 1: some welcome to the NFL moment. Did he not?
- 12:12Speaker 3: Yeah, I remember that.
- 12:13Speaker 2: Well, he..
- 12:14Speaker 3: Under for one of his receivers, I believe that was
- 12:16Speaker 3: the running back, and then he got thrown into a
- 12:18Speaker 3: pick six by the Tucson Texans defense.
- 12:21Speaker 1: 80-yard pick six. That is a perfect welcome to the
- 12:26Speaker 1: NFL moment for Fernando Mendoza. 8 of 15, 86 yards.
- 12:33Speaker 1: It says something when Davis Mills is a better quarterback
- 12:38Speaker 1: than you in a preseason game, but again, it's the preseason.
- 12:45Speaker 1: Do we really want to say that Davis Mills is
- 12:48Speaker 1: a better quarterback?
- 12:49Speaker 2: Absolutely not.
- 12:50Speaker 3: I was going to say, he played some regular season games,
- 12:53Speaker 3: so C.J. Stroud got hurt. So I wouldn't say it's
- 12:55Speaker 3: that much of a big deal, but because Davis Mills
- 12:58Speaker 3: has the experience, whereas Fernando Mendoza doesn't.
- 13:03Speaker 1: Yeah, that's definitely fair. Now, looking at the rest of it,
- 13:08Speaker 1: I mean, Davis Mills, 11 of 15 for 93 yards.
- 13:11Speaker 1: Brett Rippin, I can't believe he's still in the NFL,
- 13:15Speaker 1: Brett Rippin. I mean, yeah, Stroud only played, we got
- 13:20Speaker 1: six passes, completed four for 27 yards. So really can't
- 13:26Speaker 1: take much from this performance, but yeah, Wait, Philip Dorsett
- 13:32Speaker 1: is on the Raiders now? Where did that happen?
- 13:38Speaker 3: It must have been somewhere in the shuffle.
- 13:42Speaker 1: Wow, I can't believe he's out there in the desert
- 13:44Speaker 1: right now. That is definitely something. I mean, outside of that,
- 13:53Speaker 1: I mean, Houston, 17 points in the first quarter, so...
- 13:58Speaker 1: Good for Houston that they got 17 and pretty much
- 14:02Speaker 1: never looked back in this game.
- 14:07Speaker 3: But that's not what happened. The Raiders won. Oh, the
- 14:12Speaker 3: Raiders won. Yeah, thank you.
- 14:14Speaker 2: Yeah, they scored 17 in the first quarter, and then
- 14:16Speaker 2: they literally never looked back because they were on the
- 14:20Speaker 2: ground the rest of the game.
- 14:21Speaker 3: Yeah, thank you, Aiden O'Connell, for that.
- 14:24Speaker 1: Oh, well, then that would explain why. And I'm looking
- 14:28Speaker 1: at the wrong side of the box score.
- 14:31Speaker 3: Details matter, ladies and gentlemen. That's the one thing I'll
- 14:34Speaker 3: tell you as a journalist. Details matter.
- 14:37Speaker 1: You don't got to tell me twice on that one
- 14:41Speaker 1: because I will say something afterwards about something that happened
- 14:46Speaker 1: in the high school realm, which is irrelevant for this.
- 14:51Speaker 1: Subject matter, but it does involve details and also reading, which, yeah,
- 14:58Speaker 1: can you tell that I'm a video game player, ladies
- 15:02Speaker 1: and gentlemen, that I can't read?
- 15:08Speaker 2: You just got to go by vibes, man. You just
- 15:10Speaker 2: got to go by vibes sometimes. But unfortunately, the vibes
- 15:12Speaker 2: were not in on this one.
- 15:15Speaker 3: I play games, too, and I have basic reading skills,
- 15:17Speaker 3: and I just think of myself as a great person,
- 15:19Speaker 3: you know, in terms of, like, academics.
- 15:22Speaker 1: Actually, you know what? I'm going to pull a Brandon
- 15:27Speaker 1: on this one with the Raiders and the Texans game
- 15:30Speaker 1: because I couldn't read. Maybe I got a little bit
- 15:33Speaker 1: of that electric substation. It jolted me in the brain,
- 15:35Speaker 1: and I couldn't think.
- 15:40Speaker 3: Any response, Brandon?
- 15:41Speaker 2: I mean, it also could just be the shock of
- 15:44Speaker 2: not actually having a quarterback and at least admiring a
- 15:47Speaker 2: team that at least has a QB, too.
- 15:48Speaker 3: Oh, man.
- 15:53Speaker 1: I need a glass of water right now so I
- 15:56Speaker 1: can do the Jim Carrey and liar, liar.
- 15:58Speaker 3: Oh, come on! That's a great impression. Not going to lie.
- 16:05Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, it's very easy when Jim Carrey is
- 16:08Speaker 1: a complete lunatic, but we love his acting style. But yeah,
- 16:13Speaker 1: I mean, okay, congratulations to the Raiders. Do we want
- 16:17Speaker 1: to fire the panic button on Houston for blowing a
- 16:21Speaker 1: 17-0 lead?
- 16:21Speaker 3: I fully put the panic button on the guy. It's
- 16:27Speaker 3: just as I said before on the last episode. It's
- 16:30Speaker 3: just like I said on the last episode. I think
- 16:33Speaker 3: Fuse will be fine under defense, but I think this
- 16:35Speaker 3: is a concern for the backups. If you're backing up
- 16:39Speaker 3: that great defense with the starters, like, you know, balling
- 16:42Speaker 3: out as usual, is this telling for if one of
- 16:45Speaker 3: their star players is injured or something?
- 16:49Speaker 1: I mean, it kind of is, because you always want
- 16:52Speaker 1: that depth in case of the next man up mentality.
- 16:57Speaker 1: And I speak from experience that with atlanta last year
- 17:02Speaker 1: i mean just when divine diablo went out again we
- 17:06Speaker 1: had to put number 40 in his place and number
- 17:11Speaker 1: 40 should be back and should be bagging groceries but
- 17:19Speaker 1: i'm gonna keep my blood pressure down i'm gonna i'm
- 17:21Speaker 1: gonna stay calm today you want to.
- 17:24Speaker 3: Talk about being calm i will no you're not No,
- 17:27Speaker 3: you're not.
- 17:28Speaker 2: I'm sorry. Have we understood what the podcast is about
- 17:30Speaker 2: here yet? No, no, no. I guess I'm loaded in
- 17:32Speaker 2: a chamber for you, buddy.
- 17:37Speaker 1: Well, if all fairness, we will hold it for now.
- 17:42Speaker 1: We'll hold it for now, and then we'll let the
- 17:46Speaker 1: Gatling gun go. go off on Brandon's side of things.
- 17:49Speaker 3: Alright, as I was saying, and actually this speaks for
- 17:53Speaker 3: the substation itself, because the next preseason game, we're going
- 17:56Speaker 3: to have over Niners Chargers on Thursday night. God, I
- 18:00Speaker 3: don't want to remember that game, because that was just terrible.
- 18:02Speaker 3: That was a terrible look for the Chargers, and it
- 18:04Speaker 3: looks like the substation did not affect the 49ers at all.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Definitely doesn't seem that way. I mean, 41 to 17,
- 18:11Speaker 1: I mean... Mac Jones and Brock Purdy playing, and they
- 18:20Speaker 1: both had somewhat positive passer ratings. I've never heard of
- 18:26Speaker 1: this AJ Martinez guy, but it looks like he's the
- 18:28Speaker 1: reason the Chargers had any sort of life weight with
- 18:32Speaker 1: two interceptions, but evidently threw a touchdown pass in this game.
- 18:37Speaker 1: And Nova, I'm at least going to ask you, DJ,
- 18:43Speaker 1: whatever the hell his last name is, I'm not even
- 18:45Speaker 1: going to bother butchering. Did he actually look good in
- 18:50Speaker 1: this game?
- 18:51Speaker 3: I'm going to be real. DJ Uyagalele did not look good.
- 18:56Speaker 3: I'm going to be honest. But neither did Trey Lance,
- 18:58Speaker 3: which is the worst part. They both had a solid
- 19:01Speaker 3: game against Houston last week. And then for some reason,
- 19:04Speaker 3: the Niners had a weakness. Uyagalele... He didn't look good,
- 19:10Speaker 3: but it's just like Trey Lance didn't look good either,
- 19:11Speaker 3: so I don't know what to say.
- 19:13Speaker 1: Can you guys believe it's been, what, was it five
- 19:17Speaker 1: or six years now? When was that draft where the
- 19:21Speaker 1: Niners basically shelled off, like, four first-round picks?
- 19:26Speaker 3: That would be 2021 for Trey Lance.
- 19:29Speaker 1: Can you believe it's been that long?
- 19:31Speaker 2: And Trey Lance is still hot garbage?
- 19:33Speaker 3: Yeah, absolutely.
- 19:34Speaker 2: I can believe that.
- 19:35Speaker 3: I don't even think it was a hot garbage scene.
- 19:36Speaker 3: I just think he had his moment and just like
- 19:38Speaker 3: he got injured and then Brock Purdy happened. Mr.
- 19:42Speaker 1: Irrelevant suddenly became relevant.
- 19:45Speaker 3: Yeah, and then pushed out the project quarterback Trey Lance
- 19:49Speaker 3: because he was supposed to be the future. Oh, guess what?
- 19:51Speaker 3: You got shelved.
- 19:53Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, it's sad for Trey Lance. I mean,
- 19:57Speaker 1: he went from the Niners. He was part of the Cowboys.
- 20:01Speaker 1: He had a stint somewhere else, didn't he? Or am
- 20:06Speaker 1: I forgetting that?
- 20:07Speaker 2: No, he just played for the Niners in 21 and 22,
- 20:11Speaker 2: played for Dallas in 24, and then the Chargers into now.
- 20:15Speaker 3: Yep. Okay.
- 20:15Speaker 1: So, yeah, I was right on three teams with that.
- 20:19Speaker 3: I just look good.
- 20:22Speaker 1: I will say, seeing Kaderil Hodge get four receptions for
- 20:27Speaker 1: 46 yards, I mean, he's a very– I'm not going
- 20:30Speaker 1: to say that Kaderil Hodge is like a number two
- 20:35Speaker 1: receiver or anything like that. He is very solid as
- 20:39Speaker 1: like a number four, maybe a number three on a
- 20:45Speaker 1: good day. But I still remember that Thursday night football
- 20:49Speaker 1: game against Tampa Bay. Two years ago, Brandon and Nova,
- 20:53Speaker 1: you guys remember that game. Kirk Cousins on Matt Ryan
- 20:57Speaker 1: Ring of Honor night breaks Matt Ryan's record for passing
- 21:01Speaker 1: yards in a single game. And who caught that game-winning
- 21:05Speaker 1: touchdown but Kaderil Haas?
- 21:09Speaker 3: That was a crazy game i'm actually trying to remember
- 21:11Speaker 3: it briefly because i guess what two years fly by
- 21:13Speaker 3: apparently for us two.
- 21:15Speaker 1: Years fly by and i still remember this one crazy
- 21:18Speaker 1: uh like gambling stat if you had bet drake london
- 21:24Speaker 1: and mike evans to be the first touchdown scorers in
- 21:29Speaker 1: the game i think if i were quickly like a
- 21:32Speaker 1: there's like a 10 bet or something like that would
- 21:34Speaker 1: have netted like I think it was close to like
- 21:36Speaker 1: 16 grand or something like that. It was like astronomical
- 21:40Speaker 1: odds for those two to be the first touchdown scores
- 21:44Speaker 1: in the game.
- 21:48Speaker 2: It's also kind of fitting to have it happen on
- 21:53Speaker 2: Matt Ryan's Ring of Honor night, on a night that
- 21:56Speaker 2: Kirk Cousins throws for over 500 yards in a walk-off
- 21:59Speaker 2: overtime TD to Kaderil Hodge.
- 22:02Speaker 1: Yeah, and you want to know the fun thing about
- 22:05Speaker 1: that Matt Ryan 500-yard passing game, guys?
- 22:10Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 22:12Speaker 1: I have the shirt that the Falcons made. I have
- 22:16Speaker 1: that shirt of Matt Ryan with 500 passing yards and
- 22:19Speaker 1: Julio with 300. I have that shirt. It's basically worthless now.
- 22:25Speaker 2: Thanks, Kirk Cousins. He, in fact, didn't like that.
- 22:30Speaker 3: Oh, he..
- 22:32Speaker 1: You liked that!
- 22:33Speaker 3: Huh?
- 22:34Speaker 1: You liked that!
- 22:37Speaker 3: I apologize. Now, which one are we doing? The one
- 22:40Speaker 3: where he was with the Washington? Or was he with
- 22:42Speaker 3: the Vikings with that one? Because he did it twice.
- 22:45Speaker 1: He did it three times. He actually did it in Atlanta, too. Oh,
- 22:48Speaker 1: did he? Yeah. I think it was after that Tampa
- 22:51Speaker 1: game because they did it on the Amazon Prime Post show.
- 22:54Speaker 5: Oh.
- 22:55Speaker 3: There you go. But..
- 22:58Speaker 1: That was the Thursday night games. And also, I mean,
- 23:01Speaker 1: I have to throw it out for the Raiders. Cousins
- 23:03Speaker 1: did not play in that game. So it's what it
- 23:06Speaker 1: is on that one. I wouldn't be surprised if he
- 23:09Speaker 1: plays a series in week three because it's the last
- 23:14Speaker 1: week of the preseason. But I think that.
- 23:17Speaker 2: Kind of solidifies Kirk Cousins being QB1, honestly, going into
- 23:21Speaker 2: the regular season.
- 23:23Speaker 1: I would, I would agree with that. I think he
- 23:25Speaker 1: was always going to be QB one for the Raiders.
- 23:28Speaker 1: I think the Raiders are going to do like this,
- 23:32Speaker 1: this strategy that some of these teams are doing now,
- 23:35Speaker 1: where if they're going to draft a quarterback early, but
- 23:38Speaker 1: they have a veteran presence there, they're going to have
- 23:42Speaker 1: that quarterback sit so they can learn, which I'm actually
- 23:47Speaker 1: a fan of. I don't know if you guys are,
- 23:49Speaker 1: but I'm a fan of that strategy. Let, the rookie
- 23:52Speaker 1: learn from the sidelines and if you want to give
- 23:56Speaker 1: them reps in practice that's fine but it's better for
- 24:01Speaker 1: them to actually get a feel of the playbook and
- 24:04Speaker 1: listen to the calls as they're coming in.
- 24:08Speaker 3: I mean it's a strategy that's worked before i mean
- 24:10Speaker 3: look at patrick mahomes for example and i guess like
- 24:13Speaker 3: maybe lamar jackson and josh allen to a degree as well.
- 24:17Speaker 3: I mean, Baker Mayfield, too, before, you know, the ever-expected
- 24:21Speaker 3: Tyra Taylor injury. If we want.
- 24:22Speaker 2: To keep going back in time, the same thing could
- 24:27Speaker 2: have also been said for Brett Farvin here in Rogers.
- 24:31Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, I mean, we could. And also, it's
- 24:34Speaker 1: still fun that Atlanta had Brett Farvin traded him for
- 24:37Speaker 1: a sack of peanuts. And, well, such is life.
- 24:43Speaker 3: Wasn't it because Barf didn't really get a chance in
- 24:44Speaker 3: their system?
- 24:46Speaker 1: Yeah, he threw like an interception in the preseason and
- 24:48Speaker 1: they traded him.
- 24:50Speaker 3: I guess they really didn't like the first impressions, huh?
- 24:54Speaker 1: Evidently, that answer is no.
- 24:56Speaker 3: But..
- 24:57Speaker 1: Because we just mentioned Brett Favre. Let's go to our
- 25:01Speaker 1: next game on the preseason recap. And a team that
- 25:05Speaker 1: Brett Favre did suit up for, at least for one year,
- 25:09Speaker 1: and that was the Jets shutting out the Pittsburgh Steelers 17-0.
- 25:15Speaker 5: Um..
- 25:19Speaker 1: I'm sorry. Did I just say that right, Brandon? Am
- 25:22Speaker 1: I reading that right? I'm not having a stroke, right?
- 25:25Speaker 1: The Jets shut out the Steelers?
- 25:30Speaker 2: The Jets did, in fact, shut out the Steelers. The
- 25:34Speaker 2: Jets defense actually put on quite a show.
- 25:38Speaker 1: Yeah, from what I read, because, you know, people were
- 25:41Speaker 1: trying to make this a big deal. The Jets streak
- 25:44Speaker 1: is over. Oh, my God. They got interceptions.
- 25:50Speaker 3: Save that for the regular season. Congratulations. It's preseason.
- 25:53Speaker 1: Yeah. Like, come on. It's preseason. We're really going to overreact. Again,
- 25:58Speaker 1: this is like overreaction at its finest. The Jets still suck.
- 26:01Speaker 1: They don't have quarterbacks. They don't have safeties. They barely
- 26:05Speaker 1: have a linebacking core.
- 26:08Speaker 2: They don't have receivers because three of them fumbled.
- 26:10Speaker 3: The ones that not named Garrett Wilson?
- 26:16Speaker 2: Isaiah Williams, Malik McClain, and Xavier Newman all fumbled against
- 26:20Speaker 2: the Steelers.
- 26:21Speaker 3: Well, that's not going to help their stock for the
- 26:23Speaker 3: 53-man roster.
- 26:24Speaker 1: No, it is not. And it's probably not helping Steelers.
- 26:29Speaker 1: It's still not– it's probably not even helping Will Howard's
- 26:32Speaker 1: chance of making the Steelers 53-man roster. If you're going
- 26:34Speaker 1: to be the first interceptions the Jets have, granted, again, yes, preseason,
- 26:39Speaker 1: we will address this back in the regular season if
- 26:42Speaker 1: that streak ends. But you have to be a special
- 26:45Speaker 1: type of bad for a team streak to end like that.
- 26:51Speaker 3: It's looking like every passing day drew our stock as
- 26:54Speaker 3: a rookie. It's only getting better. Oh, yeah.
- 26:57Speaker 1: I mean– It also says something when Geno Smith, a
- 27:03Speaker 1: perfect 7 of 7 passing in this game. Again, I'm
- 27:09Speaker 1: reading this box score right, gentlemen. I'm not having a
- 27:12Speaker 1: stroke today, am I?
- 27:14Speaker 3: No.
- 27:15Speaker 2: Geno Smith was never really a terrible QB. He's definitely
- 27:19Speaker 2: a journeyman.
- 27:20Speaker 3: But also..
- 27:22Speaker 2: What the fuck are the Jets doing with four QBs
- 27:24Speaker 2: on their roster? Like, are they having a stroke? Do
- 27:27Speaker 2: they not understand how this situation works? You're one week
- 27:30Speaker 2: out from the preseason ending. Pick a damn QB already.
- 27:34Speaker 3: They're trying to have everyone they want.
- 27:37Speaker 2: If the Vikings can pick Kyler Murray in this short
- 27:39Speaker 2: amount of time, the Jets can pick freaking somebody. Probably
- 27:42Speaker 2: Geno Smith, for God's sakes.
- 27:44Speaker 3: I mean, there's like the whole backup quarterback thing. Like,
- 27:47Speaker 3: who do they want on their main roster? Who are
- 27:48Speaker 3: they going to put on the practice squad? Something like that.
- 27:51Speaker 1: I wonder if they're listening to the local media and
- 27:55Speaker 1: hoping for the meteor.
- 27:59Speaker 3: Is that what's going on in New York? I don't know.
- 28:03Speaker 1: I don't know, but that meteor looks pretty damn good
- 28:06Speaker 1: right now to help Brandon's Patriots maybe not win the
- 28:09Speaker 1: AFC East.
- 28:12Speaker 2: We don't need a meteor to win the AFC East.
- 28:14Speaker 2: We got this in the bag. But we'll get to
- 28:17Speaker 2: that momentarily.
- 28:18Speaker 1: We'll get to that momentarily. But, yeah, I mean, Steelers
- 28:22Speaker 1: getting shut out. We will see with that. But moving on,
- 28:28Speaker 1: we're going to move to the Carolina Panthers defeating the
- 28:32Speaker 1: Jacksonville Jaguars 34-17. Okay, gentlemen, I really must be having
- 28:41Speaker 1: a stroke. Kyle Trask had a perfect passer rating.
- 28:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 28:49Speaker 1: What the hell?
- 28:50Speaker 3: It's only four passes. It's only four passes. Who cares?
- 28:55Speaker 1: It's a perfect passer rating. How do you let Kyle Trask?
- 28:58Speaker 1: He's worse than Anthony Richardson, and I got thoughts on
- 29:01Speaker 1: Anthony Richardson.
- 29:02Speaker 3: I don't know about that one. That is flipped, my man.
- 29:06Speaker 3: That is flipped.
- 29:07Speaker 2: I think that's the other way around there, buddy.
- 29:09Speaker 1: Again, I'll save my thoughts for Anthony Richardson. When that
- 29:17Speaker 1: time comes. But yeah, no, Kyle Trask still sucks. He's
- 29:21Speaker 1: a bum.
- 29:22Speaker 3: You never got a chance, okay?
- 29:25Speaker 1: Should I do the water boy again? Because he's basically
- 29:28Speaker 1: Bobby Boucher. Minus the..
- 29:30Speaker 2: Okay, can we also establish the fact that Kyle Trask
- 29:35Speaker 2: did not really play until the fourth quarter. Let's go
- 29:41Speaker 2: ahead and at least keep that in consideration here. Kyle
- 29:44Speaker 2: Trask did not see the field until the fourth quarter.
- 29:50Speaker 1: Okay.
- 29:51Speaker 3: All right.
- 29:54Speaker 1: I'm still going to say he's a bum, but all right.
- 29:57Speaker 3: He is a bum.
- 29:58Speaker 2: He is a bum.
- 29:59Speaker 3: But it's like third strings. That's fine.
- 30:02Speaker 1: I mean, like, like I'm also looking at, I mean,
- 30:05Speaker 1: I'm looking at Carolina's, uh, I'm looking at their box score.
- 30:10Speaker 1: And also, I just want to throw this out here
- 30:12Speaker 1: from Alex Zito, because they were talking about this in
- 30:15Speaker 1: joint practices. This Panthers offense has come alive. The second
- 30:19Speaker 1: half of practice. Let me rephrase the Bryce young Ted Arroyo.
- 30:23Speaker 1: McMillan has come alive. Jackson leads the blitz. Young stared
- 30:28Speaker 1: unblocked rusher in the face and lofts it to McMillan
- 30:31Speaker 1: for a red zone touchdown. As much as I will
- 30:36Speaker 1: narc on the Carolina Panthers, because I mean, you know,
- 30:40Speaker 1: you do it for the division rivalry and all that stuff.
- 30:43Speaker 1: I like Tata row and McMillan and what he's doing.
- 30:46Speaker 1: And you need a good number one receiver. If you
- 30:50Speaker 1: want a middle of the road quarterback and, and, Bryce
- 30:54Speaker 1: Young is a middle-of-the-road quarterback to me, so he's got
- 30:57Speaker 1: a number one receiver.
- 31:02Speaker 2: I can't really speak too much on that one. I'm
- 31:04Speaker 2: kind of biased being a Carolina boy myself. I also
- 31:10Speaker 2: have a bias to it as well because Bryce Young
- 31:13Speaker 2: is also an alumni of the Tide. I think he's
- 31:19Speaker 2: a little bit better in the middle of the pack,
- 31:21Speaker 2: but he's definitely not top 10.
- 31:24Speaker 3: He's a hundred percent of an above average quarterback since
- 31:26Speaker 3: he got the retool.
- 31:28Speaker 1: I still put him in like that 15 to 20
- 31:31Speaker 1: range personally, maybe pushing as high as 12. And that's
- 31:39Speaker 1: being absolutely generous with relation to my fandom, what I
- 31:47Speaker 1: liked about him, his height, um, Yeah, that's just me
- 31:55Speaker 1: with Bryce Young. But again, I mean, they look good.
- 32:01Speaker 1: They look good on Friday night.
- 32:03Speaker 2: I will say Carolina does have a better receiving core
- 32:06Speaker 2: this year, too. So I'm kind of eager to see
- 32:08Speaker 2: what they do, being, you know, hometown myself.
- 32:11Speaker 1: Especially with the fact that they lost that one receiver,
- 32:15Speaker 1: their third round rookie, like before the first week of
- 32:18Speaker 1: the preseason when we talked about it.
- 32:21Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 32:23Speaker 2: Not only that, but they have more news for that.
- 32:25Speaker 3: Eventually we have more.
- 32:26Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, they have, they have John Mechie, which
- 32:29Speaker 2: he's not bad. And then the McMillan connection there. So
- 32:31Speaker 2: you've got your easy one, two receiver there. And then
- 32:34Speaker 2: apparently the Jalen Coker is supposed to be, you know,
- 32:37Speaker 2: a pretty decent connection in itself already. So, I mean, they've,
- 32:41Speaker 2: they've got a solid receiving core. It's just a matter
- 32:43Speaker 2: of can a Carolina offensive line, stay healthy.
- 32:47Speaker 1: That. And also can Bryce young see over the deep,
- 32:50Speaker 1: the offensive line, because again, That's the negative of being
- 32:54Speaker 1: sub-six foot.
- 32:57Speaker 2: I mean, if Drew Brees can do it, then anybody
- 32:59Speaker 2: can do it.
- 32:59Speaker 1: Whoa, whoa, whoa. We are not going that route now. Okay?
- 33:06Speaker 1: We're not going. We're not going. Oh, Christ.
- 33:11Speaker 2: Look, look. All I'm saying is Drew Brees was six
- 33:15Speaker 2: foot and Bryce Young is 5'10.
- 33:17Speaker 3: So.
- 33:19Speaker 1: Yeah, but Drew Brees is a Hall of Famer.
- 33:23Speaker 3: That doesn't disprove what Brandon just said, though. That doesn't
- 33:26Speaker 3: disprove anything. Anyway.
- 33:31Speaker 1: Anyway, moving along to the next game from the Mile
- 33:37Speaker 1: High City, the Denver Broncos. Eesh. That was abysmal. from Denver.
- 33:47Speaker 1: After Sean Payton wants to go out there and still
- 33:50Speaker 1: be an absolute prick to the city of Atlanta, it's
- 33:55Speaker 1: nice to know that a leopard doesn't change its spots
- 33:58Speaker 1: with a person that my mom refers to as the Grinch.
- 34:03Speaker 1: She actually says Sean Payton looks like the Grinch, if
- 34:07Speaker 1: you can believe that. A lot of empty seats disguised
- 34:14Speaker 1: as fans in the Mile High City there, Sean Payton,
- 34:17Speaker 1: watching you guys get blown out by 20.
- 34:22Speaker 3: Wait, hold on. You said it was the high ticket
- 34:25Speaker 3: price last week, or am I tripping?
- 34:28Speaker 1: Might have been, but at the same time..
- 34:30Speaker 2: I think it actually was a high ticket price.
- 34:33Speaker 3: That might be why.
- 34:35Speaker 1: That might be why, but at the same time, again,
- 34:37Speaker 1: a lot of empty seats disguised as fans, Sean. A
- 34:41Speaker 1: lot of empty seats.
- 34:45Speaker 2: I've sat on this opinion for many years, and I
- 34:48Speaker 2: will still die on this hill. Even before Bounty Gate
- 34:54Speaker 2: happened for New Orleans, I've always been of the opinion
- 34:57Speaker 2: that Sean Payton is a very toxic coach, and he's
- 35:01Speaker 2: just never really made his case better over the years.
- 35:06Speaker 3: I mean, I never got to watch this game because
- 35:07Speaker 3: I was in media duty, but I was getting clips
- 35:12Speaker 3: of it. And it's like, what did the Packers fix
- 35:14Speaker 3: from last week to this week that, you know, I
- 35:18Speaker 3: don't know.
- 35:22Speaker 2: Or hear me out. Or hear me out. Hear me out.
- 35:25Speaker 3: Hear me out.
- 35:27Speaker 2: Denver was never really a good team to begin with.
- 35:32Speaker 3: I guess it's a whole one-score win-sting, maybe. You have
- 35:34Speaker 3: your argument there. Remember, Bo Nix is elite, apparently, according
- 35:40Speaker 3: to Denver Fandom.
- 35:43Speaker 2: Denver Fandom, that's basically like the Cowboys saying it's their
- 35:46Speaker 2: year every time the preseason comes around.
- 35:50Speaker 1: Wait, where's Michael Irvin with the pom-poms right now? Where's
- 35:53Speaker 1: Michael Irvin with the pom-poms?
- 35:56Speaker 3: I don't know. Do you know?
- 36:00Speaker 1: Uh, I do not know, but I will at least
- 36:01Speaker 1: say a nice bright spot for Denver in this game,
- 36:04Speaker 1: which again, not a lot of bright spots. Uh, Jalen
- 36:07Speaker 1: Waddle looks really good. Like, I mean, you get the
- 36:11Speaker 1: one catch for 35 yards. It was a hell of
- 36:13Speaker 1: a catch too.
- 36:15Speaker 3: It really was.
- 36:16Speaker 2: But Waddle's also really always been a really good receiver too.
- 36:19Speaker 2: So I think he's just kind of just, he's already
- 36:22Speaker 2: got a baseline established for him. And that's just kind
- 36:24Speaker 2: of part for the course for him, even when he
- 36:26Speaker 2: was at Bama.
- 36:27Speaker 3: I still imagine that Broncos seem to be really good
- 36:30Speaker 3: heading into the regular season. But, you know, a lot
- 36:33Speaker 3: of it now for the rest of the preseason, and
- 36:34Speaker 3: this is going to go for a lot of teams
- 36:35Speaker 3: as well. Iron out your 53-man roster. That's basically what
- 36:38Speaker 3: they're using at this point now. Yeah.
- 36:43Speaker 5: Yep.
- 36:44Speaker 1: And again, we'll see what Denver and Green Bay look
- 36:48Speaker 1: like next week. But that was the Friday slate of
- 36:53Speaker 1: preseason games. Now we can look towards the Saturday games.
- 36:58Speaker 1: And we'll start with my local area for that one.
- 37:03Speaker 1: And that was the Tampa Bay Buccaneers somehow surviving the
- 37:09Speaker 1: Kansas City Chiefs 16-15.
- 37:11Speaker 3: Now..
- 37:15Speaker 1: I have been seeing reports about this young man, and
- 37:19Speaker 1: I will agree with what people have said. Reuben Bain
- 37:23Speaker 1: is a fucking stud. Like, he is incredible. He's shoved
- 37:29Speaker 1: a right tackle by his lonesome.
- 37:34Speaker 3: Yeah, I saw that clip. I did see that. He
- 37:36Speaker 3: just pushed him out, and then didn't get the sack, unfortunately.
- 37:40Speaker 3: He forced the pressure all by himself.
- 37:43Speaker 1: Yeah, like, that was just... absolutely incredible by, by Ruben
- 37:48Speaker 1: Bain there. I mean, outside of that, I mean, Sean
- 37:54Speaker 1: Tucker has been a decent running back for Tampa. I mean, again, look,
- 37:59Speaker 1: Jake Browning, apparently, you know, looked decent, I guess, but
- 38:06Speaker 1: the real kick in this game, no pun intended was,
- 38:11Speaker 1: was the fact that Harrison Butker got a 69-yard field
- 38:16Speaker 1: goal at the end of the half, and that looked
- 38:18Speaker 1: like it would have been good from 79.
- 38:22Speaker 3: Of course, this is the one man I don't even
- 38:23Speaker 3: respect after his Super Bowl comments after 58. I mean, I.
- 38:30Speaker 1: Don't respect his comments either, personally, but at the same time,
- 38:36Speaker 1: I'm impressed that he could do 69 on natural grass
- 38:39Speaker 1: in Tampa. Hold on, hold on.
- 38:42Speaker 3: Didn't Chase McLaughlin get a 65-yarder on that same field?
- 38:51Speaker 1: Did he? I don't know, but evidently the only kicker
- 38:58Speaker 1: on Tampa's roster is B.T.
- 39:00Speaker 3: Potter. Wait, what?
- 39:04Speaker 2: It was against Philadelphia.
- 39:07Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 39:08Speaker 3: They let go of McLaughlin? Why? Oh, wait, no, no.
- 39:11Speaker 1: He's still on the Bucs.
- 39:13Speaker 3: Okay, I was going to say.
- 39:16Speaker 1: I'm pulling up last year's stats.
- 39:20Speaker 3: Thank you, Brandon, for that, by the way.
- 39:21Speaker 2: Chase McLaughlin kicked a 65-yarder for the Buccaneers against the
- 39:27Speaker 2: Philadelphia Eagles.
- 39:31Speaker 1: Okay, so he did have a 65-yarder. But again, this
- 39:35Speaker 1: is just impressive all around when it comes to NFL
- 39:39Speaker 1: kickers now that they are making these kicks.
- 39:41Speaker 3: Remember..
- 39:43Speaker 1: When we were kids, and again, that's a little bit
- 39:46Speaker 1: with Nova too, when he was a little Nova, when
- 39:49Speaker 1: he was that little neuron star, he hadn't exploded yet.
- 39:53Speaker 1: He hadn't exploded yet, Brandon, into a full-blown supernova. But
- 39:57Speaker 1: remember when we were young, like a 60-yard field goal
- 40:00Speaker 1: was like taboo. You're kicking the ball at midfield? And
- 40:05Speaker 1: now it's like, wait, they're kicking balls at the 40
- 40:08Speaker 1: on their side of the field? Like, what is going
- 40:11Speaker 1: on here?
- 40:12Speaker 2: It's stuff that you're never doing in a regular season,
- 40:14Speaker 2: let's be fair. So why not try it?
- 40:17Speaker 3: I also want to point this out to you right now.
- 40:20Speaker 3: Didn't you guys see Sebastian Janikowski for that period of
- 40:24Speaker 3: time for you guys?
- 40:25Speaker 1: I mean, I still remember the legendary story of Sebastian
- 40:31Speaker 1: Janikowski and Brandon probably remembers it too. John Gruden hated
- 40:36Speaker 1: Al and Mark Davis for making that pick in the
- 40:39Speaker 1: first round so badly that he actually pulled Genachowski and said,
- 40:45Speaker 1: here's a field goal attempt. You make it or you're cut.
- 40:49Speaker 1: He was going to cut the first round kicker.
- 40:54Speaker 2: That's John Gruden for you.
- 40:57Speaker 1: That was John Gruden for you.
- 40:59Speaker 3: Speaking of Gruden, he was actually on the Bucs broadcast
- 41:01Speaker 3: team during that game.
- 41:02Speaker 1: Yeah, because I remember correctly, I think there was some,
- 41:06Speaker 1: he's doing something with the Bucs this season. It's not
- 41:11Speaker 1: a ring of honor because he's already in that. I
- 41:15Speaker 1: still remember that John grew to ring of honor night.
- 41:17Speaker 1: That was the legendary Monday night football game where Matt
- 41:20Speaker 1: Ryan tells Julio Jones, get fucking set.
- 41:25Speaker 2: I remember that one.
- 41:27Speaker 1: I was working that game, guys.
- 41:30Speaker 3: True story.
- 41:31Speaker 1: I was working that game because they had the ESPN broadcast.
- 41:35Speaker 1: Normally they had, like, you know, Gene Deckerhoff because it's
- 41:38Speaker 1: Bucs radio. They were having his audio throughout the game.
- 41:41Speaker 1: But because it was Monday night and they had John
- 41:43Speaker 1: Gruden in the building, they had that audio on. And
- 41:47Speaker 1: every person at the Bucs knew I'm a Falcons fan.
- 41:50Speaker 1: So naturally my bias is a little on the other side,
- 41:53Speaker 1: but not fully. And we just hear that in the,
- 41:57Speaker 1: I was in the West club. So that's the side
- 41:59Speaker 1: where the bucks are like where the glazer suite is
- 42:02Speaker 1: all that stuff. And we just heard that audio come
- 42:06Speaker 1: out and people were like to me, wait, did you
- 42:08Speaker 1: just hear that? I was like, yeah, did that really
- 42:11Speaker 1: just happen on a NFL broadcast that the main national
- 42:16Speaker 1: broadcast picked up the quarterback saying, get fucking set.
- 42:23Speaker 3: I mean, that's the mic'd up moment. You'll see everywhere
- 42:27Speaker 3: on YouTube stores or something like that about top five
- 42:30Speaker 3: mic moments. Let's be honest, Matt Ryan wasn't the only
- 42:33Speaker 3: one who has a microphone hot.
- 42:36Speaker 1: Yeah, that is true on that one. But again, Bucks
- 42:43Speaker 1: survive and we'll be talking with the Bucks in a
- 42:47Speaker 1: little bit when we get to our news and info
- 42:50Speaker 1: around the league but moving on to another game uh
- 42:57Speaker 1: how about the lions barely beating the washington commanders 17 to.
- 43:01Speaker 3: 13 in a game where jane daniels only had like
- 43:05Speaker 3: one pass total.
- 43:07Speaker 2: Only one they had to respect the fact that he
- 43:10Speaker 2: couldn't reach five okay.
- 43:15Speaker 3: Okay i feel like we're never gonna hear the end
- 43:16Speaker 3: of this no.
- 43:17Speaker 2: We're never we're never gonna hear the end of this
- 43:19Speaker 2: not a shot this man has a cemented himself into
- 43:24Speaker 2: anything involving football memes for the rest of his life.
- 43:28Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean, I mean, all we're missing is for
- 43:30Speaker 1: somebody wearing the number, the number four and the number
- 43:35Speaker 1: six to point at just a blank of Jersey of
- 43:39Speaker 1: the number five saying we skipped this number out of
- 43:41Speaker 1: respect for five.
- 43:45Speaker 3: I imagine somebody, some social media team is going to
- 43:47Speaker 3: do it. I appreciate the charges at the most likely.
- 43:49Speaker 2: I also just want to point out, to no coincidence
- 43:53Speaker 2: of the topic at all, that not a single rusher
- 43:58Speaker 2: had five carries, and not a single receiver had five receptions.
- 44:07Speaker 2: For all the receivers, it was three or under for Washington.
- 44:13Speaker 2: And for their rushers, one had ten carries. the next
- 44:18Speaker 2: highest carries on their team was four.
- 44:21Speaker 3: Wow.
- 44:22Speaker 1: And it also says something when the player in this
- 44:27Speaker 1: game with the most rushing yards total came from Joshua
- 44:31Speaker 1: Dobbs on a 50-yard read option for a touchdown where
- 44:35Speaker 1: he just turned on the Jets.
- 44:38Speaker 3: I saw that, and I was honestly impressed because, you know,
- 44:41Speaker 3: Josh Dobbs only came to the team after setting for
- 44:43Speaker 3: a sudden retirement. And Josh Dobbs already makes it look
- 44:47Speaker 3: clear that he is the backup, got back up the
- 44:49Speaker 3: quarterback to Jared Goff. I agree.
- 44:53Speaker 2: I mean, he was, there was a reason that he
- 44:56Speaker 2: wound up signing with Detroit after all of that, because
- 44:59Speaker 2: he remember he was briefly a Patriot last year. But
- 45:03Speaker 2: after the way, and we'll kind of touch on this
- 45:06Speaker 2: a little bit later too, but after the way that
- 45:07Speaker 2: DeVito has been performing for new England, He kind of
- 45:13Speaker 2: saw his chance at a QB2 spot and was like,
- 45:14Speaker 2: let's go take it.
- 45:17Speaker 3: Yep.
- 45:19Speaker 1: And I mean, no Jameer Gibbs in this game, which honestly,
- 45:24Speaker 1: usually the second preseason game, you'll never see the starters
- 45:29Speaker 1: play because they're always going to be doing all the
- 45:30Speaker 1: joint practices and everything. So I'm not surprised that Jameer
- 45:36Speaker 1: Gibbs didn't play. I'm not surprised that Amon Ra didn't play.
- 45:43Speaker 1: But yeah, I mean, hats off to the Lions. I mean,
- 45:48Speaker 1: winning on home field.
- 45:52Speaker 3: Yeah, it was also the earliest game, so it coincided
- 45:55Speaker 3: with two games in particular. I'm not sure we're going
- 45:58Speaker 3: to cover one of them immediately, but well, let's just
- 46:01Speaker 3: say it was great for everyone.
- 46:05Speaker 1: Yeah. Moving on. to another game. How about the Giants
- 46:15Speaker 1: 26 to the Dolphins 3?
- 46:17Speaker 3: Expected, honestly.
- 46:22Speaker 5: Expected.
- 46:24Speaker 3: I'll just go ahead and point something out. There's this
- 46:28Speaker 3: whole debate in the AFC East on who's going to
- 46:31Speaker 3: be the worst team between the Jets and the Dolphins,
- 46:34Speaker 3: and I personally still think... I love how I don't
- 46:38Speaker 3: even get to finish here. Brendan's a menace.
- 46:43Speaker 2: Look, we know that I'm an AFC East individual here
- 46:47Speaker 2: with New England. So, like, my opinions are pretty cement.
- 46:52Speaker 2: It's like, clearly it's going to be this.
- 46:54Speaker 3: I don't know, man.
- 46:54Speaker 2: I don't know. Anyway.
- 46:56Speaker 3: I still think the Jets are the worst team in
- 46:58Speaker 3: that division. Because at least Miami's trying to do an
- 47:04Speaker 3: actual long-term plan. What are the Jets even doing? But
- 47:06Speaker 3: I digress.
- 47:07Speaker 1: Are they, though?
- 47:08Speaker 2: Cam Miller only had 60 passing yards. That was their
- 47:14Speaker 2: highest passing total.
- 47:16Speaker 3: Oh, so John Harbaugh finally got to him? Finally passing.
- 47:22Speaker 2: Thanks for 11. 60 yards. Mark Granowski. Two completions on
- 47:28Speaker 2: five attempts for One yard. And they had a total
- 47:34Speaker 2: passing yardage of 52 yards. Their highest rushing total, as
- 47:42Speaker 2: a collective rushing total, 50 yards. They barely covered the
- 47:47Speaker 2: length of a football field in a preseason game.
- 47:52Speaker 3: What? That is crazy.
- 47:53Speaker 1: Yeah. That is just..
- 48:04Speaker 2: So, again, I'd die on the hill. I think Miami
- 48:08Speaker 2: is probably going to be the worst of the AFC
- 48:11Speaker 2: East for at least this year. Because if the Jets
- 48:16Speaker 2: can keep up the defense they had against Pittsburgh and
- 48:20Speaker 2: carry that into the regular season, then they become slightly
- 48:25Speaker 2: more scary than Miami.
- 48:29Speaker 3: Unless Malik Willis somehow does a carry job of the year.
- 48:34Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean, it'll be interesting. I mean, I know
- 48:39Speaker 1: Malik Neighbors is supposed to be coming back for the Giants.
- 48:44Speaker 1: And I mean, they're going to need him, if you
- 48:47Speaker 1: ask me. But as long as they have that horrible,
- 48:52Speaker 1: horrible terp up there in MetLife, nobody is safe.
- 48:56Speaker 2: Correct. Except Jameis Winston apparently throw in 15 for 21
- 48:59Speaker 2: and 150. They were in Miami.
- 49:02Speaker 3: They're not in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
- 49:04Speaker 2: Unless Miami has like worse turf.
- 49:09Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 49:11Speaker 2: I just think Jameis Winston seems to be that one
- 49:13Speaker 2: man that's just immune to all the things.
- 49:16Speaker 1: Well, yeah, because he eats doves.
- 49:19Speaker 2: Correct.
- 49:19Speaker 3: No, Jameis Winston is built different. You understand.
- 49:26Speaker 2: Look, I don't know if you guys have played. There's
- 49:29Speaker 2: this little internet game that came out recently about building
- 49:33Speaker 2: your QB. It literally spins you a wheel between teams
- 49:39Speaker 2: and picks you a random QB in recent memory or
- 49:42Speaker 2: in all time, like in recent memory, Jameis Winston is
- 49:44Speaker 2: one of the ones for the Giants. And he is
- 49:47Speaker 2: one of the worst graded quarterbacks in all of the
- 49:49Speaker 2: typical aspects that you have in there, like physical traits,
- 49:52Speaker 2: mental traits, except for leadership. And apparently he has an
- 49:57Speaker 2: A plus in leadership, but everything else sucks ass. So
- 50:01Speaker 2: I don't know. The man's just got hella charisma, I guess.
- 50:06Speaker 3: Did you not see his interview when he was with
- 50:07Speaker 3: the Browns? During that snow game?
- 50:15Speaker 2: I remember that one.
- 50:19Speaker 1: Yeah, I think I remember that one.
- 50:22Speaker 3: I think it was a Thursday night game, too.
- 50:26Speaker 1: It might have been, truthfully.
- 50:28Speaker 3: Anyway, let's move on.
- 50:32Speaker 2: The only thing that I can really take that I
- 50:34Speaker 2: think people should probably take away from this game is
- 50:37Speaker 2: Tyrone Tracy was brought on to the Giants... to help
- 50:41Speaker 2: alleviate some of the workload that Scataboo was alleged to
- 50:46Speaker 2: have going into the season. And then Scataboo is kind
- 50:50Speaker 2: of a little hurt. Tyrone Tracy has looked nothing short
- 50:55Speaker 2: of awful in every snap that he's taken.
- 51:00Speaker 3: That sucks.
- 51:02Speaker 2: That, I mean, granted, granted for granted for this rushing, he's,
- 51:06Speaker 2: he'd had, uh, six carries for 26 yards. And, but
- 51:09Speaker 2: his longest rip of this, of the 26 yards was
- 51:11Speaker 2: 12 yards. So he had effectively had five carries for
- 51:17Speaker 2: 14 yards and just could not get anything going against
- 51:21Speaker 2: a Miami team that overall, like as an offensive hole
- 51:25Speaker 2: had a hundred yards of offense and he couldn't get
- 51:28Speaker 2: anything going against that. Plus within both the preseason games
- 51:33Speaker 2: that he's played so far, he's fumbled.
- 51:37Speaker 3: Great. That is great. Moving on.
- 51:44Speaker 1: Let's see. We were just in the northeast, so let's
- 51:51Speaker 1: just go a little west out there to Cincinnati, where
- 51:57Speaker 1: the Bengals obliterated the Bears 27-9.
- 52:05Speaker 3: I only remember Caleb Williams had like one series where
- 52:07Speaker 3: he looked all right. He had like a, I think
- 52:09Speaker 3: it was either a big pass to Loveland or it
- 52:11Speaker 3: was to Odunze. Maybe it had been both, but like,
- 52:13Speaker 3: I remember it was mostly just that. I remember.
- 52:16Speaker 1: He basically, he basically had the two of stat line
- 52:20Speaker 1: from the first Falcons preseason game, two of five for
- 52:24Speaker 1: 28 yards.
- 52:26Speaker 3: Oh, so, so I was right. So it was to
- 52:28Speaker 3: Loveland and Odunze receptions that carried it.
- 52:30Speaker 2: Okay.
- 52:32Speaker 1: Pretty much. I mean, I don't know who this Maurice
- 52:36Speaker 1: Alexander kid is, but five receptions for 60 yards on
- 52:43Speaker 1: five targets? I mean, catching all your targets, that'll definitely
- 52:47Speaker 1: help one out when it comes to making the roster,
- 52:52Speaker 1: unless he's already been on the roster before.
- 52:56Speaker 2: Nope, it's his first season.
- 53:00Speaker 1: Yeah, so... Definitely, definitely good for him. I mean, making
- 53:05Speaker 1: all your.
- 53:05Speaker 2: Five receptions, five targets. He called everything that was thrown
- 53:09Speaker 2: his way.
- 53:11Speaker 1: And yeah, I mean, looking, looking at Josh Johnson on
- 53:15Speaker 1: Cincinnati side too. I mean, 15 to 23, a buck 56.
- 53:20Speaker 1: I mean, I mean, it's great.
- 53:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 53:23Speaker 1: I mean, Josh Johnson's been all over the NFL. I mean, Tampa, Cleveland, Cincy,
- 53:30Speaker 1: Washington jets, Ravens, his ESPN split the 2021 season literally
- 53:38Speaker 1: just says total like he doesn't have a team he
- 53:43Speaker 1: has total.
- 53:49Speaker 3: That's crazy.
- 53:51Speaker 1: And then San Francisco another stint with the Ravens another
- 53:55Speaker 1: stint with Washington so he's been with Washington twice Baltimore
- 54:00Speaker 1: twice and now Cincinnati twice.
- 54:05Speaker 3: He's serviceable.
- 54:08Speaker 1: Oh, okay. So this is the reason why. Actually, he's
- 54:13Speaker 1: had three stints with Baltimore.
- 54:15Speaker 3: I remember one of them was during the year when
- 54:18Speaker 3: Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley both got hurt.
- 54:20Speaker 1: That probably would have been 2021 because he has three
- 54:25Speaker 1: games played with the Jets and one game played with
- 54:28Speaker 1: the Ravens.
- 54:30Speaker 3: I forget which game it was. The week 18 against
- 54:33Speaker 3: Cincinnati or the playoff game against Cincinnati. Because I remember
- 54:35Speaker 3: it was either a game where Tyler Huntley got hurt
- 54:38Speaker 3: or he got benched. I don't know.
- 54:42Speaker 1: Probably. But I think we can move on from that game.
- 54:51Speaker 1: Do we want to just get the cowgirls out of
- 54:53Speaker 1: the way? Do we want to just get rid of
- 54:55Speaker 1: the cowgirls?
- 54:56Speaker 3: Yes. Yes. We always do.
- 54:59Speaker 1: I mean, we want to get rid of the cowgirls
- 55:01Speaker 1: so bad that, yeah, I mean, there's really not much
- 55:07Speaker 1: to say. I mean, Joe Milton have 179 passing yards.
- 55:15Speaker 2: I still hate it. I still hate it that we
- 55:17Speaker 2: got rid of Joe Milton because that man had us
- 55:20Speaker 2: an absolute hand in for an arm and I loved it.
- 55:26Speaker 3: Hey, but that's Jerry Jones' plague, I guess. Because Jerry
- 55:30Speaker 3: Jones wanted him.
- 55:31Speaker 1: I mean, I'll tell you this. If you ask my dad,
- 55:35Speaker 1: he says that the Cowboys are back.
- 55:40Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. They're back after beating Arizona. Sure. Get your
- 55:43Speaker 3: phantom revenge. I don't.
- 55:48Speaker 2: Know, man. It's a preseason game. Let's go ahead and
- 55:52Speaker 2: reestablish that one real quick. It's a preseason game. You
- 55:57Speaker 2: played against Gardner Minshew. You played against the Jorts man
- 55:59Speaker 2: of all QBs.
- 56:01Speaker 1: What do you got against the Florida man playing out
- 56:03Speaker 1: there in the desert?
- 56:06Speaker 3: Nothing.
- 56:07Speaker 2: Nothing at all.
- 56:08Speaker 3: Nothing at all. It sounds like you do have something
- 56:11Speaker 3: against him. No. No. No.
- 56:15Speaker 2: Nothing against Jorts man.
- 56:19Speaker 3: Are you sure? Very positive. It's the Jorts man. I
- 56:23Speaker 3: can't stand him. So that's your issue, then. You just
- 56:27Speaker 3: don't like the Jorts.
- 56:29Speaker 1: Just don't like the Jorts.
- 56:32Speaker 2: I think he's a worse baker, Mayfield.
- 56:34Speaker 3: Oh, that's a take.
- 56:37Speaker 1: Oh, okay.
- 56:41Speaker 3: I think it's a fair comparison if you really think
- 56:42Speaker 3: about it. Okay, cool. He had one good year in Indianapolis.
- 56:46Speaker 3: Calm down, buddy.
- 56:47Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly.
- 56:49Speaker 3: It's fine.
- 56:52Speaker 1: Yeah, probably.
- 56:53Speaker 5: Um..
- 56:55Speaker 2: I still think it's too early to be saying how
- 56:57Speaker 2: about them cowboys, though.
- 56:59Speaker 1: Well, I mean, you didn't even say it correctly. How
- 57:04Speaker 1: about them cowboys? Yeah!
- 57:08Speaker 3: That's not even correct either.
- 57:11Speaker 2: Look, if I wanted to, if I wanted my neighbors
- 57:15Speaker 2: to turn around and drug test me or call the
- 57:17Speaker 2: police on me for a welfare check, then yeah, maybe.
- 57:22Speaker 1: Well, in all fairness, I'm missing my stogie and my
- 57:26Speaker 1: 10-gallon hat. Because, honey, how do you do? It's a Monday.
- 57:36Speaker 1: And all I care about is where the cowboy fans.
- 57:39Speaker 1: Where the cowboy fans. Look at them right there. Look
- 57:42Speaker 1: at them right there. How about them cowboys?
- 57:53Speaker 2: Manson Fred was in his Stephen A a little too much.
- 57:56Speaker 3: I was surprised he didn't go for the urinating tree route.
- 58:01Speaker 1: I probably missed that one, admittedly. I just know the
- 58:04Speaker 1: Stephen A one is the easiest one to do because
- 58:06Speaker 1: all I got to do is talk like a crazy
- 58:07Speaker 1: New Yorker, which I'm already good at doing.
- 58:10Speaker 3: Okay. Were there anything notable for the Cardinals out of
- 58:14Speaker 3: the Cardinals? Or is that just like all it was? No.
- 58:18Speaker 2: Okay.
- 58:20Speaker 1: No, nothing for the Cardinals, but there's one more. Technically,
- 58:27Speaker 1: there's a couple more games left, including our three teams.
- 58:32Speaker 1: Do we want to talk about the Bills or do
- 58:34Speaker 1: we want to talk about the Rams? Since we already know,
- 58:38Speaker 1: you know, if you believe the script, that's the Super
- 58:40Speaker 1: Bowl this year. The Bills are going to win the AFC.
- 58:44Speaker 3: You are so wrong for that, and I can't wait
- 58:46Speaker 3: to prove you that. You are, why are you bonding
- 58:50Speaker 3: with Josh Allen? He's a turnover machine. Hold on. Hold on.
- 58:55Speaker 2: Pause.
- 58:56Speaker 3: Pause.
- 58:57Speaker 2: Let's cover the Saints Rams first.
- 58:59Speaker 3: I watched that game too.
- 59:01Speaker 1: Okay. I will at least say my thoughts about the
- 59:06Speaker 1: game first, outside of the fact that it's great to
- 59:10Speaker 1: see the saints have a donut next to their name
- 59:12Speaker 1: because it's always uh fuck the saints if you ask
- 59:16Speaker 1: me what's.
- 59:16Speaker 2: Two ints.
- 59:19Speaker 3: Uh what it was a pick six.
- 59:20Speaker 1: By the way yeah by spencer rattler um and.
- 59:26Speaker 2: 100 yard pick six mind you.
- 59:29Speaker 1: The highlight of that interception, by the way, was hearing
- 59:34Speaker 1: London Tipton on the broadcast calling that interception. Brenda Song. Man,
- 59:41Speaker 1: that was nice. And again, I know I said my
- 59:45Speaker 1: piece last week on biased commentary during these preseason games. Boy,
- 59:53Speaker 1: was that bias evident with Brenda Song.
- 59:55Speaker 3: Look, I missed that one. You're talking about... Let me
- 59:59Speaker 3: Google this real quick. I need to make this clear.
- 1:00:03Speaker 3: These are the Rams radio network people and the people
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: that are with the Rams on their team. It's not
- 1:00:11Speaker 3: too surprising to hear the bias. I've heard their voices
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: on the radio anytime I make a shopping trip during
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: the time the Rams play because I've been guilty at
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: that one because radio networks are great. But again, we've
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: been through this before. This is a Rams... local network.
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: I know about it because that's what I'm local to
- 1:00:31Speaker 3: the ramp. So of course you're going to hear that,
- 1:00:33Speaker 3: but still, even with that being the case, it's nice
- 1:00:36Speaker 3: to hear that for Brenda's Brenda song. Yeah.
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: I mean, Now, again, granted, Nova, technically it was during
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: your toddler years, but there was a show from Brandon's
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: at my time with Brenda's song, The Suite Life of
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: Zack and Cody, and The Suite Life on Deck. The
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: Suite Life on Deck was, eh, it was all right
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: for a spinoff show, but The Suite Life of Zack
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: and Cody, Brandon, I think I speak for both of
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: those when I say chef's kiss with that show.
- 1:01:09Speaker 3: Am I right, or am I right?
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: Please tell them I'm actually listening to it right now.
- 1:01:15Speaker 3: Oh, you're listening to the... But yeah, there really wasn't
- 1:01:18Speaker 3: much more to say. Actually, I do have something to say.
- 1:01:20Speaker 3: Who angered Stetson Bennett?
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: That's fun.
- 1:01:24Speaker 3: I like that.
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: I did not know that she was on call for
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: that one.
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: That was..
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: Yeah, you definitely hear it on there. Stetson Bennett, though?
- 1:01:30Speaker 3: Somebody angered him.
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: Yeah. Somebody angered him to the point where... I know
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: I'm getting on a tangent here, but... Dan Orlovsky, what
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: the hell is wrong with you? Why the hell should
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: Atlanta trade a late round pick for Stetson Bennett? The
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: guy wants to be an accountant.
- 1:01:47Speaker 3: I mean, after that game, of course Orlovsky's going to
- 1:01:52Speaker 3: say that. Of course he is.
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: Yeah. Why don't you run out the back of the
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: end zone next time you want to make a claim
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: like that?
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: No, I bet you what happened was like the Ty
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: Simpson game last week because Kansas City was like sentimentally saying, okay,
- 1:02:06Speaker 3: you are not to get a backup role for me.
- 1:02:08Speaker 3: This is mine. He proved it.
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: Yeah, he definitely proved it. But again, Brandon, like I said,
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: Suite Life with Zach and Cody, great show. Was it not?
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: I was definitely a small child when that one was played. So, yes,
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: I will agree with that.
- 1:02:29Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: And, of course, the most quoted line.
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: I was not a small child.
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: Because, again, with Brenda's song, the most quoted line from
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: that show is still goaded even to this day. Are
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: you familiar with the gear shift? You mean the prindle?
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: The what? Are you referring to the shift lever that
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: says P-R-N-D-L? Oh, I'm sorry. Why don't we just relax?
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: We'll turn on the radio. Would you like am or foon?
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: I see that in mean them. Oh, my God.
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: It was funny then. It is funny today. Oh, man.
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: But again, I mean, yes, Brenda Song was very good
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: during her stint on the Rams broadcast with that. And
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: it was fun to see her with Kurt Warner on
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: that one because of the Suite Life connection because Kurt
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: Warner was on that show all those years ago.
- 1:03:34Speaker 3: Oh, that's cool. WLA.
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: WLA, and it's always fun to see the Saints lose.
- 1:03:43Speaker 3: We're next.
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: Moving on. Moving on. Let's talk about the Bills and Browns.
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: Yes, let's talk about the Browns.
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: Yeah, we can actually kill two birds with one stone
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: in this game.
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: Buffalo is good. Kyle Allen is good?
- 1:04:12Speaker 3: Question mark.
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: Getting a little higher register there with what I'm trying
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: to say on this podcast but yeah no Cleveland's a
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: dumpster fire again I think.
- 1:04:31Speaker 3: I'm going to let Brandon say this one because I
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: think he has harsher words than I.
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: Do they never quit being a dumpster fire ever arguably
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: arguably Since Bill Belichick left, Shador Sanders is hot fire.
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: It's hot garbage fire. Let me rephrase that. So is
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: Dylan Gabriel, even though he only had one pass attempt.
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: So I can't really say much about him from this
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: one game. But you want to talk about the ultimate
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: dumpster fire in the entire Cleveland facility. And again, this
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: is also killing two birds with one stone, as well
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: as Tom alluded to. Deshaun Watson. is arguably one of
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: the worst quarterbacks in the league with one of the
- 1:05:20Speaker 2: worst contracts to have been incredibly undeserving of. And this
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: man should not be in the NFL in any capacity.
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: The fact that this man could sit here in a
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: press conference and say, I found it disrespectful that they
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: booed me, knowing what the hell he's been doing for
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: the last several years, shows that the man has zero
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: accountability and his self-respect in his skills, and he should
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: actually just honestly just up and get out of the NFL.
- 1:05:48Speaker 3: Yeah. This is basically the Deshaun Watson segment of the
- 1:05:52Speaker 3: show where it's not that we don't care about the
- 1:05:55Speaker 3: Bills-Browns game, but the problem with this game is that
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: this game suddenly become, oh, the topic's Deshaun Watson.
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: Yeah, and I have the quote here, exactly what Deshaun
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: Watson said. Quote, I think the whole world knows it
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: has nothing to do about the performance. It's a little
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: bit more personal than that. So I think it's a
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: disrespectful thing. So yeah, I mean, I'm going to keep
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: whatever I feel with me and my family internally on
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: how I feel about that. And yeah, just move on.
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: Last time I played on this field, I tore my
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: Achilles and that same fan base. They cheered when I
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: got hurt. So what does that have to do with
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: anything about performance? When a person gets hurt, especially for
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: your own city and they cheer. Look, I said, I
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: said my piece on Deshaun Watson before about him. Again,
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: I'm not against karmic justice. That Achilles tear was warranted
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: for all the shit that he did. And again, that's
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: karmic justice.
- 1:07:10Speaker 3: Karma's a bitch.
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: But when you... I've said before, I will maintain this mentality.
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: I had a little sympathy for the re-tear of the
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: already surgically repaired Achilles. I had a little sympathy because again...
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: that shouldn't have happened. If it was the other Achilles,
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: I wouldn't have had sympathy because it's like, okay, you
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: tore both Achilles, but no, it was the same Achilles
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: while you're trying to get that Achilles stronger. That's where
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: I had a little sympathy after this, that sympathy is
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: so far out the door. It's down my driveway and
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: all the way down the street in the retention pump.
- 1:07:51Speaker 3: Yeah. And thankfully that report came out from Brown sports reporter,
- 1:07:54Speaker 3: Jeff Shuttle. And there was also something else noted from
- 1:07:57Speaker 3: that same press conference. This is from NFL Mikey on Twitter.
- 1:08:02Speaker 3: Browns head coach Todd Munkin on Deshaun Watson facing boos
- 1:08:05Speaker 3: from the home crowd today. Quote, don't want to get booed?
- 1:08:09Speaker 3: Let's play good football. Let's play good quarterback. Let's play
- 1:08:11Speaker 3: good on offense. It's really that simple.
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: Brandon, that's mind-blowing, isn't it? Like, just play good football.
- 1:08:23Speaker 2: Yeah, don't suck at your job like you have since
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: you left Clemson. Congratulations.
- 1:08:29Speaker 3: Not even left Clemson. Since you left Houston.
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: Yeah, because again, like in Houston, he actually did a Houston.
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: I mean, he wasn't as bad a dumpster fire in
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: Houston as he is in Clemson.
- 1:08:43Speaker 3: No, he wasn't.
- 1:08:44Speaker 2: No, he wasn't. He was actually pretty decent in Houston.
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: He had a good system that worked there. But ever
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: since then, ever since he got shipped off out of there,
- 1:08:53Speaker 2: he's been abysmal.
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: Oh, and also for NFL fans, a final question. from
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: Deshaun Watson. I feel like I get more love in
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: road games than I do home games. So if it
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: is my spot, maybe it's 17 away games then. I
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: don't know.
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: That's if the away fans ever cared.
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: I think that's a blank check. for all NFL fans,
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: that he gets more love on the road than he
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: does at home?
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: Because they don't have to deal with a dirty motherfucker
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: in their home field. That's why Cleveland is going to
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: boo him.
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: Most likely.
- 1:09:38Speaker 3: I think I did a check on this before, but
- 1:09:42Speaker 3: if Cleveland were to cut Watson, I think, if I
- 1:09:45Speaker 3: remember the numbers, is it like $ 85 million in debt
- 1:09:47Speaker 3: cap or something like that for the Browns?
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: I thought this was the last year of that contract, though.
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: Unless I'm... So, as of right now, according to a
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: quick Google search, cutting Deshaun Watson right now would trigger
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: a dead cat pit of approximately $ 127. 1 million, split across
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: the 26 and 27 league years.
- 1:10:12Speaker 3: Okay, so he has two more years on his contract.
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: Yeah, the cat pit for 26 would be $ 40.
- 1:10:16Speaker 3: 9 million.
- 1:10:19Speaker 2: Which is the current reduced cap charge for the season
- 1:10:22Speaker 2: after a restructure. And the 27 dead cap acceleration would
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: be 86.2 million, which is the remaining bonus and converted
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: salary accelerating onto the ledger.
- 1:10:32Speaker 3: Holy.
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: So Cleveland's going to suck for at least two more seasons.
- 1:10:37Speaker 3: And this is what happens because they actually had a
- 1:10:39Speaker 3: winning culture with Baker Mayfield. They were like, nope, you
- 1:10:41Speaker 3: screwed us. Get out.
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: And the best part is, apparently, if he is on
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: their roster on the third league day of next year,
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: he gets $ 200 million of his 2029 salary fully guaranteed.
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: No, he'll be gone before then.
- 1:11:03Speaker 3: Oh, so you think the Browns are going to take
- 1:11:05Speaker 3: on the dead cap?
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: I think they'll take on the dead cap before they
- 1:11:09Speaker 2: pay him $ 200 million.
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: I think so as well. with the way that he
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: has not performed and not lived up to that contract,
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: it just makes me happier every day as an Atlanta
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: fan that our former ball boy is not on our roster.
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: I think it also has to be a PR move
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: for Cleveland as well at that point in time.
- 1:11:35Speaker 3: Yeah, because you don't go to a press conference and
- 1:11:37Speaker 3: just disrespect the entire fan base. You just don't.
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: No, you can't disrespect the fans, even if they're booing.
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: I mean, you call those ticketed fans, you call them
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: loyal fans. So at least from my vantage point, yeah.
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: The sympathy I had for him with the double Achilles tear,
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: like I said, out the door, in the trash can,
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: in the dumpster, on the way to get incinerated. He
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: is basically that incinerator in Toy Story 3. But the
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: only difference is the toys don't get rescued by the
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: little green men in the clock. No, he's just getting
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: burned in the incinerator.
- 1:12:21Speaker 3: Man, I feel bad for Jared first now.
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: Yeah, I do too. But hey, at least my horse smell.
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: At least Miles Garrett ain't there no more.
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: Moving on. Should we spin the wheel for this one? Actually,
- 1:12:38Speaker 3: should we spin?
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: Sure, let's spin a wheel. I'm going to open up
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: a wheel here.
- 1:12:45Speaker 3: Because the Ravens, Falcons, and Patriots all played the same game. Ravens,
- 1:12:50Speaker 3: Falcons had the same day and time. But all three
- 1:12:54Speaker 3: teams played differently from each other. So we will have
- 1:12:57Speaker 3: vastly different opinions. We'll just see which one we get first. Yep.
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: So I'm going to open up this wheel of names
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: for us real quick. Oh, and I'm going to throw
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: these names out here. Talon, Brandon.
- 1:13:15Speaker 3: Brandon. You're reminding me as a Yu-Gi-Oh player, there's a
- 1:13:18Speaker 3: game called Branded.
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:13:21Speaker 2: I wish I had a soundboard right now to where
- 1:13:23Speaker 2: I could boo you for that reference.
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: Well, fortunately, we do.
- 1:13:30Speaker 3: Why would you disrespect me for referencing a card game? Boo.
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: Okay, and the game that we talk about first is..
- 1:13:43Speaker 3: Wheelofnames.com. Oh, it's me. Okay.
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: No, it's Brandon. We got to talk about the Eagles
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: Patriots first. How about that?
- 1:13:55Speaker 2: How about them motherfucking Patriots?
- 1:13:59Speaker 3: Now, do we want to bring up.
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: Do we want to bring up the joint practices first
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: and foremost?
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: That's what I was actually going to do. That's 100%
- 1:14:13Speaker 2: was on my list.
- 1:14:16Speaker 3: So brief recap of joint practices.
- 1:14:19Speaker 2: Drake may do a couple of interceptions, either two interceptions
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: over their two, three days of joint practices. And one
- 1:14:25Speaker 2: of those, one of those interceptions was a pick six,
- 1:14:29Speaker 2: but you'll have that. That apparently was a ball that
- 1:14:32Speaker 2: was tipped. Like, what really can you do about that?
- 1:14:36Speaker 2: We've established the opinion that, you know, if something like
- 1:14:38Speaker 2: that happens, that's not really on the QB. You know,
- 1:14:41Speaker 2: it gets tipped in line. It gets tipped in receiver's hands.
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: Whatever receiver should have caught it, et cetera, et cetera.
- 1:14:46Speaker 2: INT is an INT. And then the Patriots defense against
- 1:14:52Speaker 2: Jalen Hurts. Over two days of joint practices, five INTs
- 1:14:56Speaker 2: on Hurts and a pick six. So from everything that
- 1:15:03Speaker 2: I have read about the couple of days of joint
- 1:15:07Speaker 2: practices and competitive drills is that the Patriots were effectively
- 1:15:12Speaker 2: dominant against Philly on all sides of the ball. Now,
- 1:15:16Speaker 2: watching the preseason game, you wouldn't really think that. And
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: that's mainly just because, you know, this was a battle
- 1:15:23Speaker 2: of the second and third strings. Naturally, a preseason is
- 1:15:26Speaker 2: going to preseason. Tommy DeVito. Great. Man, it's going to
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: be a solid QB too. AJ Brown. Not really much
- 1:15:37Speaker 2: needs to be said about him. On that note, going
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: back to the joint practices real quick. And we'll kind
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: of touch on this a little later as well. But
- 1:15:45Speaker 2: apparently one of the top corners in the league is
- 1:15:51Speaker 2: Quinion Mitchell. A lot of people have him around the
- 1:15:54Speaker 2: 5 or 6 spot in their list, right?
- 1:15:57Speaker 3: Corner for Philly.
- 1:15:59Speaker 2: Apparently within those joint practices, on the same day, A.J.
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: Brown versus Quinion Mitchell, five TDs. Is that something that
- 1:16:12Speaker 2: you really call that? I understand A.J. Brown is A.J. Brown,
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: and this man's got to show out against his former team.
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: But how are you going to be considered a top
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: 10 corner in the league, and you're going to let
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: somebody who used to play for your team drop five
- 1:16:24Speaker 2: on you in.
- 1:16:25Speaker 3: The same day? Did you guys' joint practices just fell off?
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:16:30Speaker 2: He did that in one day of joint practices in
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: competitive drills.
- 1:16:35Speaker 3: Yeah, but I'm also asking, did Brown do this on
- 1:16:37Speaker 3: Mitchell when they were teammates at all? When they were
- 1:16:39Speaker 3: doing their training stuff? Or was this the first time
- 1:16:42Speaker 3: that this happened?
- 1:16:44Speaker 2: I can't speak on them in the past whenever they
- 1:16:46Speaker 2: were doing inter-team drills. But in terms of this particular aspect,
- 1:16:52Speaker 2: five tutties in competitive drills is a statement. Um, but
- 1:16:57Speaker 2: let's go, but as far as like the, the, the
- 1:16:59Speaker 2: preseason game is concerned, we were, we want, we squeaked
- 1:17:02Speaker 2: it out 24, 21 at home. DeVito looks like a
- 1:17:06Speaker 2: QB to 18 for 15, which obviously is, you know,
- 1:17:10Speaker 2: 50% is 18 for 15. What?
- 1:17:12Speaker 3: I'm sorry.
- 1:17:13Speaker 2: Eight for 15. I apologize. Eight for 15, just a
- 1:17:16Speaker 2: little over 50%, but.
- 1:17:19Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 1:17:20Speaker 2: And as somebody who is going to be an elementary
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: school teacher, I am not that great at math. Um,
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: But out of those eight completions was 151 yards in
- 1:17:31Speaker 2: a TD. So the man actually put up a good performance.
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: On the same note, Bayron Morton probably piloted one of
- 1:17:42Speaker 2: the best two-minute drills that I have seen in the
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: past few years. And at the end of that two-minute
- 1:17:50Speaker 2: drill was a 60-yard TD to Kyle Williams. or sorry,
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: 69-yard TD to Kyle Williams, where he just dropped it
- 1:17:58Speaker 2: right in the bucket, and Kyle Williams said, see ya. Said,
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: we're gone. Like, both backups for us looked great. It
- 1:18:10Speaker 2: looked really great. Jim Miller looked okay. 11 carries, 36 yards,
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: longest rip was 20. Jim Michael Hastie looked like Jim
- 1:18:19Speaker 2: Michael Hastie. DeVito has three rushes for 44 yards himself
- 1:18:23Speaker 2: with his longest being 36 yards. You're going to let
- 1:18:26Speaker 2: Tommy DeVito run 36 yards on you, then I don't
- 1:18:28Speaker 2: know what to tell you.
- 1:18:29Speaker 3: Tommy Cutlass.
- 1:18:31Speaker 2: I'll say, man's a New York Giants legend for a reason, apparently.
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: The Tommy Cutlass thing. I got the hand gestures because
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: I'm Italian. And, of course, we love his agent, too.
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: His agent is the epitome of a great agent.
- 1:18:50Speaker 2: I'm just saying, overall, we started out great. Both teams
- 1:18:56Speaker 2: went scoreless, so we went half-time down 14-10, and then
- 1:18:59Speaker 2: decided to squeak it out there at the end of regulation,
- 1:19:03Speaker 2: to where we avoided another tie with a last-minute TD.
- 1:19:09Speaker 2: And it was a really good game. I think it
- 1:19:11Speaker 2: was a very well-coached game. All the backups did what
- 1:19:14Speaker 2: they were supposed to do. The 69-yard TD catch from
- 1:19:17Speaker 2: Kyle Williams certainly helped quite a bit. I don't think
- 1:19:20Speaker 2: Jim Michael Hastie survives the 53-man cut.
- 1:19:24Speaker 3: I don't.
- 1:19:27Speaker 2: I understand that he was a good running back in
- 1:19:29Speaker 2: a few years prior, but I don't think he's got
- 1:19:31Speaker 2: the hands for it anymore. So I think he's definitely
- 1:19:34Speaker 2: going to be gone. Overall, we look very good.
- 1:19:39Speaker 3: We definitely could have.
- 1:19:40Speaker 2: Performed better in some aspects, especially since Jermichael Hasty fumbled
- 1:19:43Speaker 2: and lost his fumble. So I don't like it, personally.
- 1:19:50Speaker 2: We had one punt return. Let that tell you something.
- 1:19:54Speaker 2: We had one punt return for 16 yards. That was it.
- 1:20:00Speaker 2: That was our punt return because everything else was a touchback.
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: I mean..
- 1:20:08Speaker 2: There's not really a lot to say on special teams.
- 1:20:14Speaker 2: We kicked one field goal and three extra points.
- 1:20:16Speaker 3: What was the length?
- 1:20:19Speaker 2: The length of the field goal was 41 yards.
- 1:20:22Speaker 3: That's not bad.
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: No, I mean..
- 1:20:25Speaker 3: It's average.
- 1:20:26Speaker 2: It's a chip shot.
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: It sounds like Brandon's coming back around on Andy Borgalis.
- 1:20:32Speaker 3: Not really.
- 1:20:32Speaker 2: It's just one attempt that he made. He made all
- 1:20:34Speaker 2: three of his extra points. He made his only field
- 1:20:37Speaker 2: goal attempt. If he makes the 53-minute roster, then he
- 1:20:40Speaker 2: makes the 53-minute roster. If he's our kicker, he's our kicker.
- 1:20:43Speaker 2: I'm still not the biggest fan in the world of him, personally.
- 1:20:46Speaker 2: But I digress. At the same time, on the same
- 1:20:51Speaker 2: note as Baron Morton, okay? Baron Morton, punting. Have y'all
- 1:21:00Speaker 2: taken a peep at that stat real quick? Let's just
- 1:21:03Speaker 2: pull this down.
- 1:21:05Speaker 3: Let's pull this down real quick, right?
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: Let's pull this down.
- 1:21:09Speaker 3: Three for 133.
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: Jeez.
- 1:21:11Speaker 3: Hello.
- 1:21:11Speaker 2: He returned.
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: Punts for us until the.
- 1:21:15Speaker 3: Until the very end.
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: How about that?
- 1:21:18Speaker 3: Three for 133. I'm sorry. He kicked punts for us.
- 1:21:20Speaker 3: Three punts, 133 yards. One touchback. Wow. The man has
- 1:21:44Speaker 3: a leg.
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: Yeah, that's impressive, especially for a quarterback to have that.
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: I mean, if he's not a quarterback, at least you
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: know you got a putter on your roster.
- 1:21:57Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: All right.
- 1:22:02Speaker 3: I think we're okay, though.
- 1:22:04Speaker 2: I think we look good. It's just a matter of
- 1:22:06Speaker 2: if we can translate that next week.
- 1:22:09Speaker 3: Hopefully, because it's the final check. Yeah.
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: And now we get to see what the next game is.
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: Is it going to be the Ravens, or is it
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: going to be Atlanta? Let's just see. Who's it going
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: to be that we're talking about?
- 1:22:25Speaker 2: And..
- 1:22:26Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: It's the Ravens. Which means that we know which game
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: we'll be after. It'll be Atlanta. So..
- 1:22:35Speaker 2: Um..
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: Yeah, Nova, take it away. Ravens, 13. Minnesota, 3.
- 1:22:44Speaker 3: Good old Super Bowl 53 score, if Brandon remembers that correctly.
- 1:22:47Speaker 3: I do.
- 1:22:49Speaker 2: I also have the Super Bowl shirt of the only
- 1:22:52Speaker 2: player who scored a touchdown that entire Super Bowl.
- 1:22:55Speaker 3: Thanks for reminding us. All the Georgia running backs are retired,
- 1:22:58Speaker 3: including Sonny and Michelle.
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: Mm-hmm. Yep.
- 1:23:01Speaker 3: More on that later, but Ravens by Kings. I was
- 1:23:04Speaker 3: excited for this one because I was like, well... If
- 1:23:07Speaker 3: week one went almost perfect in the preseason against the Eagles,
- 1:23:10Speaker 3: how could this get any better? Holding the Vikings to
- 1:23:14Speaker 3: three points. I mean, granted, JT McCarthy did look shaky.
- 1:23:17Speaker 3: Probably now probably looks like he doesn't look like he's
- 1:23:19Speaker 3: going to be the starter anytime soon. Max Brosmer had
- 1:23:22Speaker 3: the better game. Actually, no, I lied. It's Carson Wentz.
- 1:23:26Speaker 3: How is he still in the league, first of all?
- 1:23:28Speaker 3: For sacrificing himself against the Chargers. Like, as a break,
- 1:23:32Speaker 3: I want to just tell you guys, how is Carson
- 1:23:33Speaker 3: Wentz still in the league after sacrificing his body to
- 1:23:36Speaker 3: the Chargers?
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: Because the Vikings are that desperate with the fact that
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: they have JJ McCarthy on their roster, who is an
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: absolute total bum.
- 1:23:48Speaker 3: You know, fair enough. Yeah, this is more of like
- 1:23:49Speaker 3: a defensive game where it was like Brian Flores, you know,
- 1:23:53Speaker 3: imposing his will, which there was no score in the
- 1:23:55Speaker 3: first quarter, only field goals in the second quarter. The
- 1:23:58Speaker 3: only touchdown of the game from third three or Joe Fagnano,
- 1:24:02Speaker 3: who's actually really showing himself well. this preseason. And the
- 1:24:06Speaker 3: touchdown pass was to LeJonte Wester. Five receptions, 24 yards,
- 1:24:10Speaker 3: including a touchdown in the third quarter. I pretty much
- 1:24:14Speaker 3: am going to be overreacting to this one because Jesse
- 1:24:17Speaker 3: Minter's defense still looks like the best it's ever looked.
- 1:24:21Speaker 3: And get this, it's five points per game in two games.
- 1:24:27Speaker 3: I just want to... I serenade that real quick before
- 1:24:29Speaker 3: I pull up more.
- 1:24:30Speaker 5: Um..
- 1:24:34Speaker 3: Preseason.
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: You notice how Brandon got closer to his microphone on
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: that one.
- 1:24:41Speaker 3: Yes, I did. Yes, I did.
- 1:24:45Speaker 2: I always had a soft spot for Baltimore, honestly, so
- 1:24:51Speaker 2: I really do hope they can keep that up into
- 1:24:54Speaker 2: the regular season, but I don't put a lot of
- 1:24:58Speaker 2: faith into things like that in preseason.
- 1:25:02Speaker 3: But yeah, so I actually have more of this one now.
- 1:25:05Speaker 3: Kevin Ostreicher in Twitter says, The Vikings have four offensive
- 1:25:08Speaker 3: possessions in the second half against the Ravens. A punt?
- 1:25:11Speaker 3: Turnover on downs. Fumble? Interception. That is absurd. Ten points allowed.
- 1:25:22Speaker 3: Six sacks. Seven tackles for loss. Eleven quarterback hits. Eight
- 1:25:25Speaker 3: pass breakups. Two takeaways. Opponents are five out of 23
- 1:25:29Speaker 3: in third down. This defense is very imposing, and I'm
- 1:25:37Speaker 3: really loving the first impressions I got out of Jesse Minter.
- 1:25:40Speaker 3: There really was no negatives outside of how much this
- 1:25:43Speaker 3: defense was giving the Ravens a lot of trouble, because
- 1:25:46Speaker 3: Brian Flores is a really good defensive coordinator. Special teams,
- 1:25:50Speaker 3: they recovered as well, because Tyler Loop made both his kicks,
- 1:25:53Speaker 3: including one from 49.
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, it's just impressive at how Baltimore is
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: looking right now. I mean, that week five game is
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: not going to be fun for.
- 1:26:12Speaker 3: Me now that I'm looking at it. I really hope,
- 1:26:13Speaker 3: for the love of God, that we both get to
- 1:26:15Speaker 3: be on call for this game.
- 1:26:18Speaker 2: I cannot wait, wait for the podcast recording of Baltimore Atlanta.
- 1:26:24Speaker 3: No, I think what we should do is..
- 1:26:25Speaker 2: Somebody's going to be pissed.
- 1:26:30Speaker 3: I really think we have an audio recording for that live.
- 1:26:34Speaker 3: I'm not sure if we're going to use the whole footage.
- 1:26:36Speaker 3: I'm not sure how we'll be able to do it,
- 1:26:37Speaker 3: like how YouTube streamers do it, but that's also... Also,
- 1:26:40Speaker 3: you want to talk about punters? Ryan Eckley for the Ravens?
- 1:26:44Speaker 3: Six punts. I mean, yes, this is a defensive game.
- 1:26:46Speaker 3: Of course, you're going to have punts. Longest punt of 60.
- 1:26:48Speaker 3: He had 332 punting yards total. 332 yards of punting
- 1:26:54Speaker 3: is crazy.
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: Holy shit. Oh, my. Am I listening to a punter
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: or am I listening to Patrick Mahomes in that Super
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: Bowl against the Bucs during COVID?
- 1:27:07Speaker 3: You're listening to a punter and his name is Ryan Eckley.
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: All right. Well, I mean, hey, special teams, definitely important.
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: And like Rich Eisen once said a long time ago,
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: very famously, punters are people, too.
- 1:27:22Speaker 3: The takeaway from this one is that the Ravens' defense
- 1:27:27Speaker 3: looks really good. And as I said, I feel bad
- 1:27:30Speaker 3: for anybody that has to play this Ravens' defense. Yay, Atlanta!
- 1:27:37Speaker 2: I will say, though, even though it is a preseason game,
- 1:27:40Speaker 2: five sacks, six TFLs, and nine QB hits. It's a
- 1:27:44Speaker 2: pretty good performance.
- 1:27:48Speaker 3: Now, imagine that with Nemanja Mbaka, Nemanja Mbaka, Zion Young,
- 1:27:56Speaker 3: who's actually been really good as a rookie, Calais Campbell,
- 1:28:00Speaker 3: Trey Hendrickson on the front end. Good luck.
- 1:28:08Speaker 2: I did say whenever we first started talking about it,
- 1:28:10Speaker 2: that that defense actually is I think what I want
- 1:28:13Speaker 2: to say was like, whoa, second or third episode we
- 1:28:15Speaker 2: did that. I think the Baltimore defense is probably the
- 1:28:18Speaker 2: scariest it's been since the team of destiny run the jawhead.
- 1:28:21Speaker 3: Yeah. Unfortunately, everybody's giving all the defensive credit to the
- 1:28:24Speaker 3: Texans right now because they think the Texans are the
- 1:28:25Speaker 3: best defense, but I think we could be definitely top five.
- 1:28:31Speaker 2: I mean, if the Patriots could beat the Texans defense,
- 1:28:33Speaker 2: then I think it'll be okay.
- 1:28:35Speaker 3: Fair enough. Anyway, let's talk about Falcons cults now.
- 1:28:39Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: We... Barry, hold on. And now, ladies and gentlemen, we've
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: saved the best for last. Please put your hands together
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: for the incomparable Falcons!
- 1:29:07Speaker 2: I'm revoking your going last privilege next week.
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: Now, in all fairness, like Nova just said, if last
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: week couldn't have been any worse for Atlanta, this week
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: couldn't have been any better for Atlanta because... Um, all
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: I saw during joint practices was, uh, the Colts were
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: destroying Atlanta and Tua looked like crap.
- 1:29:38Speaker 3: Oh, I need to point out one thing. This is
- 1:29:39Speaker 3: actually popular on social media. Apparently the GTA six weekers
- 1:29:42Speaker 3: Tua Tagovailoa according to Twitter.
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: Oh my God. Uh, but, but then like you, you
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: hear about Tua throwing an interception to, uh, Wally, I
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: believe was his last name, right? Uh, It was one
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: of the cornerbacks, but it was like, okay, it was
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: a great read by the defender, got the interception, and
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: then Drake London bodies somebody on the left sideline, and
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: nobody's talking about it. Then you see Chris Lindstrom basically
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: get bull rushed by DeForest Buckner, but he still got
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: his feet in place and did a decent job with
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: rebounding on that side of things. But then the game happened,
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: and look, I'll say this. If this was regular season,
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: I would have been absolutely shocked that the Falcons, A,
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: beat the Colts, and B, beat the Colts the way
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: that they did. Preseason, I can't really take too, too
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: much away from this game, except for one thing, and
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: that is that Cooper Rush, go bye-bye. Jack Strand, stay on.
- 1:30:58Speaker 1: I am Mr. Krabs with the commercial.
- 1:31:02Speaker 3: All right, get lost, all of you.
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: You're fired.
- 1:31:04Speaker 3: Get out of here. Go and scream.
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: Get out of here, you moochers. That's right. Keep moving.
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: Except you.
- 1:31:10Speaker 3: You stay.
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: That's Jack Strand for me.
- 1:31:17Speaker 3: Wow. Thank you. Cooper Rush, awesome. Because Cooper Rush also
- 1:31:23Speaker 3: sucked at Baltimore. I hated him.
- 1:31:26Speaker 2: We discussed this last week. We truly discussed this last week.
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: Yeah, Cooper Rush is a fucking bum.
- 1:31:33Speaker 2: Cooper Rush is a bum. I mean, he went 10
- 1:31:38Speaker 2: for 11 for 86 yards. But on the other side
- 1:31:43Speaker 2: of the ball, remember how we talked about Miami had
- 1:31:47Speaker 2: their type of game? Indianapolis had a very similar type
- 1:31:51Speaker 2: of game. as Miami did I don't know what happened
- 1:31:56Speaker 2: in between the 11-on-11 comp drills versus preseason game but
- 1:32:00Speaker 2: 79 total passing yards and 85 total rushing yards is something.
- 1:32:14Speaker 1: Yeah, it's definitely something. Um, now I will also say
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: the offensive line for Atlanta definitely looked great. Bill Callahan,
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: whatever he's doing in Atlanta, it's working with this offensive
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: line because there were holes being open that I ain't
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: seen since they were digging holes, trying to find the
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: lost treasure of Stanley Yelnats. Um, I'm taking this, Grandpa. Well,
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: that's two and a half man. Keep on digging. But no,
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: Tyler Goodson, a 49-yard touchdown run up the left sideline.
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: Nathan Carter, 17 carries for 42 yards. Jack Strand with
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: a 16-yard touchdown run. Again, Jack Strand, as an undrafted
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: free agent, man, you are playing your way into this.
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: the NFL, if you ask me, whether you are just
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: a number three quarterback or maybe a backup, like you
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: are playing well enough to earn a spot on the,
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: like the NFL roster. If you ask me, I can't
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: say the same on the cold side. Holy shit. Is
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: Anthony Richardson horrible? My God.
- 1:33:37Speaker 2: I think this is the game where Anthony Richardson, the
- 1:33:39Speaker 2: coaches have pretty much made a decision that he's going
- 1:33:41Speaker 2: to be gone because he is just absolute dog shit.
- 1:33:45Speaker 3: I mean, weren't we talking about him being checked out
- 1:33:47Speaker 3: last week?
- 1:33:50Speaker 2: He's super checked out now. Three for nine.
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: He was checked out. You could stuff him in the
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: bag and put him in the freaking car, go into
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: the car with how bad he was. There was the
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: one sack where he had a lane, and instead of
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: running to the lane, he runs to the defender and
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: gets sacked.
- 1:34:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:34:17Speaker 3: Honestly, I think this goes to either the negative on
- 1:34:20Speaker 3: the Colts scouts or college scouts. Is it a both
- 1:34:24Speaker 3: kind of thing? Or did somebody in the scouting report
- 1:34:27Speaker 3: put too much stock in Anthony Richardson and got the
- 1:34:29Speaker 3: Colts to pick him?
- 1:34:30Speaker 2: I think they put too much stock in the scouting
- 1:34:32Speaker 2: report because of who Anthony Richardson's coach was.
- 1:34:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: And I also think they were mesmerized by the potential
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: of his arm talent, which there's no talent... I think
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: the Colts are literally like how I did that intro
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: for this game. They are Mr. Krabs, and they're losing
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: money here. So they put a sign on there to
- 1:34:57Speaker 1: try to get– they're trying to recoup their money, and
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: all the Colts fans are like, it's worth every penny
- 1:35:04Speaker 1: to throw a tomato at Anthony Richardson because he's just horrible.
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: And I remember people saying, hey, you know, Atlanta should
- 1:35:12Speaker 1: take a flyer on Anthony Richardson. No! God, please, no!
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: I'll take Stetson Bennett over him.
- 1:35:25Speaker 2: I definitely think this was definitely the game where Anthony
- 1:35:29Speaker 2: Richardson has solidified his way to at least a practice squad.
- 1:35:34Speaker 2: And then your QB1 is DJ, and then your QB2
- 1:35:37Speaker 2: is going to be Riley Leonard. Yeah, that's And QB2
- 1:35:44Speaker 2: is not saying a lot there, though, to be fair.
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: No, it's like if Daniel Jones goes down again, may
- 1:35:49Speaker 1: God have mercy on the Colts, they're going to have
- 1:35:51Speaker 1: to call Phillip Rivers and his 10 kids.
- 1:35:55Speaker 3: While he's coaching high school? No, don't do that.
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: Well, I mean, it's not that they can flash the
- 1:36:00Speaker 1: luck signal again, and maybe, oh, it's general, right? Is
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: it General Andrew Luck on Twitter, or is it Captain
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: Andrew Luck?
- 1:36:10Speaker 2: It is General Andrew Luck.
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: Okay, I was right.
- 1:36:14Speaker 2: I know exactly what you're referring to.
- 1:36:17Speaker 1: Yeah, like they need to call the general and get
- 1:36:21Speaker 1: him on the battlefield again if they can find him
- 1:36:25Speaker 1: on the battlefield. But outside of that, that's preseason week
- 1:36:34Speaker 1: two and... Gentlemen, we're going to play the ticket game
- 1:36:39Speaker 1: again for week three. So we have the 16 games.
- 1:36:45Speaker 1: Who do you guys think is the cheapest ticket to
- 1:36:49Speaker 1: get into? And who do you think is the most expensive?
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: We will start with cheapest for Nova and Brandon.
- 1:37:01Speaker 3: Oh, goodness.
- 1:37:02Speaker 2: Yes. I'm going to pull up the week three schedule
- 1:37:05Speaker 2: real quick.
- 1:37:07Speaker 3: I'm going to say Falcons-Dolphins.
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: Okay. So Nova has Falcons-Dolphins as the cheapest.
- 1:37:18Speaker 2: Falcons-Dolphins being a cheap game would actually be pretty funny.
- 1:37:21Speaker 2: So this is going to be kind of a little
- 1:37:23Speaker 2: bit of bias here myself. But I think that the
- 1:37:29Speaker 2: cheapest game and this actually might sound kind of crazy.
- 1:37:33Speaker 2: I think the cheapest game is actually going to be
- 1:37:35Speaker 2: New England-Cleveland. And that's just because of how dog-water that
- 1:37:41Speaker 2: Cleveland has been. I think that itself is going to
- 1:37:44Speaker 2: tank them. If it's not them, on the off chance
- 1:37:48Speaker 2: it is, on a very non-biased pick, I think my
- 1:37:52Speaker 2: other pick would probably have to be Detroit Indy. For
- 1:37:56Speaker 2: cheapest pick.
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: Okay, so are you going Pats Browns or are you
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: going Indy?
- 1:38:01Speaker 3: I'm going to go Pats Browns.
- 1:38:03Speaker 2: I'm going to go Pats Browns. I'm going to stick
- 1:38:04Speaker 2: with my bias. I'm going to go Pats Browns.
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: Okay, we are locked in on the cheap tickets. Now,
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: what about the expensive get-in ticket? What is the most
- 1:38:12Speaker 1: expensive get-in game for this week?
- 1:38:15Speaker 3: Considering the last one was the Broncos for some weird reason,
- 1:38:18Speaker 3: I'm going to say Pittsburgh Buffalo.
- 1:38:20Speaker 1: Okay, Nova goes Browns. Pittsburgh and Buffalo.
- 1:38:25Speaker 3: I would have loved to have said Rams-Chargers. It's the
- 1:38:28Speaker 3: SoFi rivalry game. I would have loved to have said that.
- 1:38:37Speaker 2: All right. I'm going to be biased again. So I
- 1:38:39Speaker 2: remember earlier on in the podcast, we were talking about
- 1:38:42Speaker 2: our preseason picks for our players to keep an eye on.
- 1:38:48Speaker 2: And I said that the player that I was personally
- 1:38:50Speaker 2: keeping my eye on was the number one overall pick, Mendoza. Well,
- 1:38:55Speaker 2: the Raiders are playing against the Niners in Vegas. And
- 1:39:01Speaker 2: with how the Niners decided that they wanted to blow
- 1:39:04Speaker 2: out the Chargers in Week 2 preseason, I think that
- 1:39:12Speaker 2: combined with the potential appearance of a more solid game
- 1:39:17Speaker 2: from mendoza i think my expensive pick is going to
- 1:39:20Speaker 2: be san fran and las.
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: Vegas okay and we're putting san fran and vegas okay
- 1:39:31Speaker 1: and the cheapest ticket is The Patriots and the Browns
- 1:39:43Speaker 1: get in prices $ 7. $ 7 is incredible.
- 1:39:50Speaker 2: You mean to tell me I could go to Cleveland,
- 1:39:52Speaker 2: Ohio right now and see the Patriots play for $ 7?
- 1:39:54Speaker 2: It's crazy. For $ 7, only and barely behind that $.
- 1:39:56Speaker 1: 7 ticket is... The Falcons and Dolphins. You can get
- 1:40:06Speaker 1: it for $ 8. Are you kidding me? I am not
- 1:40:10Speaker 1: kidding you. And then, you remember how Brandon said Detroit
- 1:40:14Speaker 1: and Indy was his other pick? That's the next one.
- 1:40:19Speaker 3: At $ 10. What are we doing?
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:40:23Speaker 3: I told y'all last week I'm good at Price is Right.
- 1:40:25Speaker 2: Don't play with me.
- 1:40:27Speaker 3: I was so confident Falcon's Dolphin was just because of
- 1:40:30Speaker 3: what happened.
- 1:40:31Speaker 1: And I'm just going to do this. I'm going to
- 1:40:34Speaker 1: use this one now.
- 1:40:36Speaker 3: Oh, actually, by the way.
- 1:40:39Speaker 1: Because that's showcasing that Brandon is two for two. He
- 1:40:44Speaker 1: got the most expensive.
- 1:40:46Speaker 3: Oh.
- 1:40:47Speaker 1: Sam Fran and Vegas is the most expensive. Get in
- 1:40:50Speaker 1: price at $ 60 with. The second most expensive ticket being
- 1:40:59Speaker 1: the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Buffalo Bills.
- 1:41:05Speaker 3: I hate this. I actually hate this.
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: Oh, man. That one ticket was as low as $ 56
- 1:41:12Speaker 1: to get in for Pittsburgh and Buffalo.
- 1:41:16Speaker 3: I hate it here.
- 1:41:18Speaker 2: Look, I'm just saying, I told you guys last week,
- 1:41:20Speaker 2: if you ever need me on Process Riot, just hit
- 1:41:22Speaker 2: me up.
- 1:41:24Speaker 1: You know, in all fairness, I might try to get
- 1:41:27Speaker 1: that for the soundboard for the next episode. Get the
- 1:41:31Speaker 1: prices right sound effect. If somebody like if we do
- 1:41:35Speaker 1: this game during the regular season where we're guessing the
- 1:41:38Speaker 1: get in price, we might do that. And if you
- 1:41:42Speaker 1: guys get within what I think it's within fifty dollars
- 1:41:46Speaker 1: of the actual prices when they do that, that big
- 1:41:49Speaker 1: siren or whatever.
- 1:41:50Speaker 3: Right. Wait, hold on. So you're meaning to tell me
- 1:41:54Speaker 3: this is the week we both got first and second
- 1:41:56Speaker 3: in that category? Are you kidding me?
- 1:41:58Speaker 1: I am not kidding you.
- 1:42:01Speaker 3: And by the way, are you going to head to Miami?
- 1:42:05Speaker 1: No. I'd be heading to Miami if they would hire
- 1:42:11Speaker 1: me because I've been trying to apply for jobs with them.
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: I have jobs outstanding with them and I haven't heard
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: anything from them.
- 1:42:19Speaker 3: That's the job, ladies and gentlemen.
- 1:42:21Speaker 2: Don't do that for legal reasons. This is a joke.
- 1:42:23Speaker 2: Don't actually do that. Follow up with them.
- 1:42:27Speaker 3: I've been.
- 1:42:28Speaker 1: They don't reply.
- 1:42:32Speaker 3: Take a trip. New Highmark Stadium, ladies and gentlemen.
- 1:42:39Speaker 1: But that is the ticket price. I can't wait for
- 1:42:42Speaker 1: week one when we talk about that next week on
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: the podcast. Let's move on to our news and updates
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: around the league. Again, we talked about it last week
- 1:42:57Speaker 1: with James Pierce Jr. getting suspended for what happened, the
- 1:43:03Speaker 1: violating of the personal conduct policy. It was reported on
- 1:43:08Speaker 1: Friday that Rashad Bateman has been arrested on domestic violence charges. Nova,
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: you are the Ravens fan here. I will give you
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: the floor first on this.
- 1:43:24Speaker 3: I don't have much more to say. Rashad Bateman, he's
- 1:43:27Speaker 3: definitely the right-of-seer to the Ravens. Fun fact, this arrest
- 1:43:31Speaker 3: apparently happened in June. So it's like, why is everything
- 1:43:34Speaker 3: happening now before the regular season? Why wasn't this addressed
- 1:43:37Speaker 3: in June? And I think a statement from the Ravens
- 1:43:42Speaker 3: front office, especially, I think Jesse Minter said it too,
- 1:43:44Speaker 3: is that they're monitoring the situation and they're going to
- 1:43:47Speaker 3: proceed with whatever information they can find. It's not the
- 1:43:50Speaker 3: exact quote, but it's something similar to what Minter said.
- 1:43:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I didn't even know that it happened
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: in June, but I just saw the report and..
- 1:44:03Speaker 3: It's a battery charge, if you want to know.
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: It's a battery charge.
- 1:44:08Speaker 2: Ah, yes, like most other NFL criminals.
- 1:44:13Speaker 3: Sure, yeah.
- 1:44:15Speaker 2: And first of all, I won't get one on that
- 1:44:16Speaker 2: one again. Insert Ray Rice.
- 1:44:24Speaker 1: Wow.
- 1:44:27Speaker 2: Look, I'm just saying it's a shoe fits.
- 1:44:30Speaker 3: The only battery charge that I remember is Antonio Brown
- 1:44:32Speaker 3: and I don't even know that.
- 1:44:35Speaker 1: Hashtag CTSPN right there.
- 1:44:40Speaker 3: Anyway, your thoughts, Brandon?
- 1:44:48Speaker 1: Oh.
- 1:44:51Speaker 2: Oh.
- 1:44:51Speaker 1: No, we're Yeah, we should still be good. I was
- 1:44:57Speaker 1: pulling this up so that way we can start talking
- 1:44:59Speaker 1: about our news and updates section. So let's start with
- 1:45:03Speaker 1: some contracts, guys. Najee Harris, one-year deal with the Giants. Admittedly,
- 1:45:11Speaker 1: not a bad deal. I mean, bet minimum.
- 1:45:15Speaker 3: Yeah, he never really got a chance with the Chargers
- 1:45:17Speaker 3: because he got hurt during his state, so... you know
- 1:45:21Speaker 3: be back up to uh can't scataboo as brandon said
- 1:45:24Speaker 3: earlier it's probably a great for tyrone tracy but it's
- 1:45:28Speaker 3: still not saying much because again i really hope naji
- 1:45:30Speaker 3: harris would have been successful with the la chargers this
- 1:45:33Speaker 3: just wasn't meant to be because of the injury i'm
- 1:45:35Speaker 3: just hoping that he can fill in a backup role
- 1:45:37Speaker 3: with can't scataboo and go from there i.
- 1:45:40Speaker 1: Mean now that now with naji harris though in new
- 1:45:44Speaker 1: york with scataboo that's a pretty uh potent one-two punch.
- 1:45:51Speaker 2: I just need Scataboo to quit running into telephone poles
- 1:45:53Speaker 2: so I can draft them in fantasy.
- 1:45:55Speaker 1: Oh, we're going to be talking about fantasy in just
- 1:45:59Speaker 1: a wee bit, ladies and gentlemen. Just a wee bit.
- 1:46:04Speaker 1: Moving on on contracts. Vita Vea, one-year extension for $ 30 million.
- 1:46:12Speaker 1: $ 30 million.
- 1:46:16Speaker 3: After all this talk of getting out of Tampa Bay,
- 1:46:18Speaker 3: he's still staying with Tampa Bay. It's essentially a Dexter
- 1:46:21Speaker 3: Lawrence type deal.
- 1:46:23Speaker 1: Which I will say, as much as I wanted him
- 1:46:29Speaker 1: out of the division, because why wouldn't I want him
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: out of the division? It just helps Atlanta potentially win
- 1:46:35Speaker 1: the division that nobody wants to win. Um, I still
- 1:46:40Speaker 1: remember when he was coming out of that draft and
- 1:46:43Speaker 1: I wanted him so bad. I wanted him with Grady
- 1:46:48Speaker 1: Jarrett out of that draft. I was just seeing visions
- 1:46:52Speaker 1: of grandeur with Grady Jarrett and Vita. They are those
- 1:46:56Speaker 1: two big mother truckers right there in the a gap.
- 1:47:01Speaker 1: Good luck running on the a gap with those two.
- 1:47:06Speaker 1: And well, He's in Tampa, and he's still in Tampa.
- 1:47:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I figured he'd stick around. I wanted to see
- 1:47:18Speaker 2: him on the move, but I figured he would stick around.
- 1:47:22Speaker 1: Honestly, I kind of figured it as well. I mean,
- 1:47:24Speaker 1: it feels like this is what all these players do now.
- 1:47:27Speaker 1: They demand a trade because they're unhappy with their contract.
- 1:47:32Speaker 1: They get the social media buzz and then they sign
- 1:47:35Speaker 1: the contract and they're like, oh, happy to be here.
- 1:47:38Speaker 1: Always wanted to be here.
- 1:47:41Speaker 3: See, I say this is a Dexter Lawrence type of
- 1:47:43Speaker 3: deal because the Bengals also extended him for one more
- 1:47:45Speaker 3: year after his unhappiness with the Giants. And now it's
- 1:47:48Speaker 3: just like, okay, is this going to be the norm now?
- 1:47:50Speaker 3: We're just going to be demanding trades and all they're
- 1:47:51Speaker 3: going to get is one year extensions. Probably. Probably.
- 1:47:58Speaker 1: But speaking of one-year extensions or one-year deals, Keenan Allen
- 1:48:03Speaker 1: is going to Indianapolis.
- 1:48:06Speaker 3: He needs to retire. He needs to retire.
- 1:48:08Speaker 2: He needs to retire. He's just going to get his
- 1:48:10Speaker 2: knees broken in Indianapolis. He needs to retire.
- 1:48:14Speaker 5: Oh.
- 1:48:19Speaker 3: Is it that serious?
- 1:48:20Speaker 2: He was great for the Chargers he's great phenomenal receiver
- 1:48:24Speaker 2: when he was in his prime his prime is not
- 1:48:27Speaker 2: now his prime was like four years ago he just
- 1:48:30Speaker 2: needs to hang up the cleats man.
- 1:48:34Speaker 1: Damn that's a that's a take right there I.
- 1:48:39Speaker 3: Think he's great. He's 34 years old.
- 1:48:41Speaker 2: He needs to, he needs to go and quit while
- 1:48:42Speaker 2: he's at it.
- 1:48:45Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, I mean, getting up there in age,
- 1:48:48Speaker 1: I mean, he'll probably get like another year or two
- 1:48:49Speaker 1: and then retire. Now the question is, does he get
- 1:48:53Speaker 1: a gold jacket for his performance in the NFL?
- 1:48:56Speaker 3: Not first ballot in my opinion.
- 1:48:58Speaker 1: Oh no, no, no, no way. I'm using the Matt
- 1:49:05Speaker 1: Ryan rule for Keenan Allen. At least, third or fourth year.
- 1:49:09Speaker 3: I think third or fourth is reasonable.
- 1:49:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm using the Matt Ryan rule for Keenan now
- 1:49:17Speaker 1: with the Hall of Fame. Moving on with the contract talk,
- 1:49:23Speaker 1: we're going to get Washington now because they are releasing
- 1:49:30Speaker 1: Jake Moody.
- 1:49:33Speaker 3: This one shocked Brandon when we first reported it.
- 1:49:38Speaker 1: Yeah, it definitely shocked Brandon when we first revealed that.
- 1:49:42Speaker 1: And it was just like, well, then who's going to
- 1:49:44Speaker 1: be their kicker?
- 1:49:47Speaker 2: Some rookie, I guess.
- 1:49:48Speaker 3: Yeah, we did some research here. Hold on. I can't
- 1:49:50Speaker 3: you pull it up on the search bar. Let me
- 1:49:52Speaker 3: go ahead and do this real quick. It's a rookie
- 1:49:54Speaker 3: from Iowa. I could pull this up with the Iowa search.
- 1:49:57Speaker 3: It is Drew Stevens, a rookie from Iowa.
- 1:50:02Speaker 1: Drew Stevens from Iowa.
- 1:50:09Speaker 3: And as we joked, the substation claimed another victim.
- 1:50:16Speaker 5: Like, still on the Jake Moody thing real quick, like,
- 1:50:18Speaker 5: I just, I, he wasn't even that bad, like, and
- 1:50:22Speaker 5: that's why I was kind of surprised. And I'm just
- 1:50:26Speaker 5: in here like, why?
- 1:50:29Speaker 3: He was fine.
- 1:50:33Speaker 2: But, I guess if you want to go younger, then,
- 1:50:35Speaker 2: you know, more power to you, but, you know, whatever.
- 1:50:38Speaker 3: Are we putting Stocks and Drew Stevens?
- 1:50:45Speaker 1: I mean, I'm not putting..
- 1:50:49Speaker 2: It's hard to put Stock into a rookie that just
- 1:50:51Speaker 2: got drafted.
- 1:50:52Speaker 3: Yeah, I agree.
- 1:50:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree. Also in the news, Vaughn Miller is
- 1:51:02Speaker 1: signing with the Cowgirls.
- 1:51:06Speaker 2: Speaking of somebody else that needs to pack it up,
- 1:51:08Speaker 2: Von Miller needs to pack it up too.
- 1:51:11Speaker 3: Is his plan to retire as a cowboy? Is that
- 1:51:13Speaker 3: what's going on?
- 1:51:14Speaker 2: I think so because Texas is his home. So I
- 1:51:19Speaker 2: definitely think this is probably a retirement joint.
- 1:51:23Speaker 1: Probably at this point. I mean, at least he's staying
- 1:51:29Speaker 1: in the division so he gets to sack Jaden Daniels
- 1:51:33Speaker 1: four times out of respect for number five.
- 1:51:36Speaker 3: I'd do it five just to piss him off.
- 1:51:42Speaker 1: But speaking of defensive players that are signing with teams,
- 1:51:48Speaker 1: we reported last week that it looked like the Browns
- 1:51:52Speaker 1: are going to sign Zedarius Smith. And out of nowhere.
- 1:51:57Speaker 3: Surprise.
- 1:51:59Speaker 1: Surprise. He is in Atlanta for one year. And I'm
- 1:52:05Speaker 1: happy with that. Because, and again, I would have been
- 1:52:09Speaker 1: happy if he would have went to Cleveland, too, because
- 1:52:10Speaker 1: he's still a very good defensive end. I like him
- 1:52:14Speaker 1: better that he's now in the red and black. But, yeah,
- 1:52:19Speaker 1: that was kind of out of left field with Z'Darrius Smith.
- 1:52:23Speaker 1: I thought all signs were that he was going to
- 1:52:25Speaker 1: sign with Cleveland for a year. And now he's in Atlanta.
- 1:52:30Speaker 3: So, yay.
- 1:52:33Speaker 1: He stays with Burns.
- 1:52:33Speaker 3: We'll take that, though.
- 1:52:35Speaker 1: Yes, we take that. Now, I guess we move on
- 1:52:42Speaker 1: to the negative side of the news and updates, which
- 1:52:48Speaker 1: is the injury bug has been hitting the NFL and
- 1:52:55Speaker 1: it has hit a little more this coming week. First up,
- 1:53:01Speaker 1: Jaden Higgins, Texans wide receiver, torn ACL. Unfortunate as hell.
- 1:53:09Speaker 1: for Jaden Higgins. And they signed Sterling Shepard and Zay
- 1:53:15Speaker 1: Jones to replace him.
- 1:53:18Speaker 3: That's the desperation of the Texans because they know they
- 1:53:20Speaker 3: have a winning roster as long as CJ Stroud just
- 1:53:23Speaker 3: isn't terrible. Losing Jaden Higgins, though, that's an impactful move
- 1:53:27Speaker 3: because they're getting back Nico Collins and Tank Dell from injury.
- 1:53:32Speaker 2: Has there been an update on Tank Dell? Because I
- 1:53:34Speaker 2: don't think there has been.
- 1:53:37Speaker 1: Last I heard about Tank Dell, I'm looking at Yahoo
- 1:53:44Speaker 1: Sports here. He began practicing during the second week of
- 1:53:50Speaker 1: camp in a limited capacity, doing mostly individual drills and
- 1:53:55Speaker 1: a few 11-on-11 reps. While two league sources say he
- 1:54:00Speaker 1: hasn't suffered a setback, he's not yet at the point
- 1:54:03Speaker 1: where he can practice daily.
- 1:54:10Speaker 2: So he's still a good ways away from practicing in full.
- 1:54:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:54:17Speaker 1: And it doesn't appear he'll participate in the final preseason
- 1:54:20Speaker 1: game either. So I don't know if he would be
- 1:54:24Speaker 1: put on the pup list or short-term IR and then
- 1:54:29Speaker 1: be out for six weeks minimum because he would have
- 1:54:34Speaker 1: to be out for four weeks and then you can't
- 1:54:37Speaker 1: start practicing until the end of those four weeks. And
- 1:54:40Speaker 1: then you have the two weeks to get cleared. If
- 1:54:44Speaker 1: I remember correctly, that's how the rule is or else
- 1:54:46Speaker 1: you will get put on season ending IR.
- 1:54:51Speaker 3: Yep.
- 1:54:53Speaker 1: But yeah, I mean, unfortunate for Jaden Higgins and I
- 1:54:59Speaker 1: want to see Nico Collins back, man. That injury was
- 1:55:02Speaker 1: so devastating for, in that playoff game. It basically just
- 1:55:06Speaker 1: took the wind out of the Texans because they were
- 1:55:09Speaker 1: playing the Chiefs well that game before it happened.
- 1:55:14Speaker 3: Chiefs? Well, he got hurt in that Sunday night game,
- 1:55:16Speaker 3: didn't he?
- 1:55:18Speaker 1: Or was it the... Or am I thinking it wrong?
- 1:55:22Speaker 3: I was thinking, wasn't that the Patriots game?
- 1:55:26Speaker 1: When did he get that?
- 1:55:28Speaker 3: For what now? Nico Collins' injury. I think he might
- 1:55:35Speaker 3: have gotten hurt on a terrible throw.
- 1:55:37Speaker 1: No, Tank Dell was against the Chiefs.
- 1:55:40Speaker 2: Yeah, Tank Dell was against the Chiefs because he got a,
- 1:55:42Speaker 2: if I remember correctly, he had a dislocated kneecap and
- 1:55:45Speaker 2: he tore his ACL, MCL, and LCL all at the
- 1:55:49Speaker 2: same time.
- 1:55:50Speaker 3: Uh-huh.
- 1:55:55Speaker 1: But yeah, no, Nico Collins is healthy, so.
- 1:55:58Speaker 3: Okay. Yeah.
- 1:56:01Speaker 1: Moving on on the injury bug, because we talked about
- 1:56:05Speaker 1: the Commanders releasing Jake Moody, and now defensive tackle Johnny
- 1:56:10Speaker 1: Newton will be out for the season with a torn pec.
- 1:56:16Speaker 1: And with them already losing Laramie Tunsell, that's very unfortunate.
- 1:56:23Speaker 3: Yeah, just less help for Jaden Daniels, because now they're
- 1:56:26Speaker 3: apparently just to stack everything against him.
- 1:56:30Speaker 2: He's going to have no more than four wide receivers.
- 1:56:32Speaker 2: It's okay.
- 1:56:34Speaker 3: And that's not allowed in a roster, you know.
- 1:56:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:56:43Speaker 1: And you want to know the fun part? Apparently last year,
- 1:56:46Speaker 1: Johnny Newton had five sacks. So take that with a
- 1:56:54Speaker 1: grain of.
- 1:56:54Speaker 3: Salt, LSU.
- 1:56:58Speaker 2: Also, fun fact, kind of playing off this whole Texans thing.
- 1:57:02Speaker 2: I'm sitting here doing some research on what Houston might
- 1:57:08Speaker 2: be doing to kind of help make up for that
- 1:57:12Speaker 2: loss of Jaden Higgins. And according to Yahoo Sports, the
- 1:57:19Speaker 2: Texans are allegedly in rumors, or rumored in trade talks,
- 1:57:24Speaker 2: however you want to phrase that.
- 1:57:27Speaker 3: Rashad Bateman? with New England, and with Baltimore. Yeah, I
- 1:57:32Speaker 3: heard about the Rashad Bateman rumors.
- 1:57:34Speaker 2: Yeah, the Rashad Bateman rumor is the one for Baltimore,
- 1:57:37Speaker 2: and the one for New England is for Kayshaun Booty.
- 1:57:43Speaker 2: I'm fine with losing Kayshaun, if that's the case.
- 1:57:47Speaker 1: Yeah, even my brother's not a big fan of Kayshaun Booty.
- 1:57:52Speaker 3: I like him.
- 1:57:53Speaker 1: I think he's a fine receiver.
- 1:57:55Speaker 2: I think our receiver room's good enough to lose him.
- 1:57:59Speaker 3: Okay, I guess I'm not allowed to speak. Oh, my bad.
- 1:58:02Speaker 3: I was going to say, the thing with Rashad Bateman thing,
- 1:58:07Speaker 3: it's a weird timing because, again, now you're getting the
- 1:58:09Speaker 3: battery arrest charge, and it's like, okay, why are the
- 1:58:12Speaker 3: Texans trying to trade for him when there's this whole
- 1:58:14Speaker 3: arrest rumor kind of thing? It's just confusing at the
- 1:58:17Speaker 3: end of the day. I'm pretty sure Rashad Bateman also
- 1:58:19Speaker 3: has a pretty hefty contract, if I remember. He recently signed,
- 1:58:22Speaker 3: or he's about to get one. But, I mean, losing
- 1:58:27Speaker 3: Bateman is going to suck, but That might open up
- 1:58:30Speaker 3: Jacoby Lane, so it might not be the worst.
- 1:58:32Speaker 2: I don't think it would be the worst. At the
- 1:58:35Speaker 2: same time, even if nothing becomes of Bateman's troubles, for
- 1:58:42Speaker 2: lack of a better term, I think this is very
- 1:58:45Speaker 2: reminiscent of Baltimore's historical trouble with figures like that. Again,
- 1:58:52Speaker 2: alluding to the whole Ray Rice incident. to where it
- 1:58:56Speaker 2: might be better for them on a PR scale to
- 1:58:58Speaker 2: kind of move away from him and let someone else
- 1:59:00Speaker 2: kind of deal with it, kind of take the rep
- 1:59:02Speaker 2: for that. Because I still think Baltimore has a decent
- 1:59:06Speaker 2: receiving room without Bateman.
- 1:59:08Speaker 3: Yeah, because we've got safe flowers. I mean, obviously, we
- 1:59:11Speaker 3: still have Mark Andrews. We have Matthew Hibner, who I
- 1:59:15Speaker 3: didn't get his name last week. Now I got it
- 1:59:17Speaker 3: this time. Hibner looks pretty all right. Well, I just
- 1:59:19Speaker 3: want to tell you, Wester... who is up and coming
- 1:59:21Speaker 3: as well. We got Jacoby Lane, obviously. So I think
- 1:59:23Speaker 3: the receiver group is going to be fine as well
- 1:59:26Speaker 3: as with Tez Walker. It's just like Bateman was an
- 1:59:29Speaker 3: important piece. So who knows what Baltimore's front office is
- 1:59:32Speaker 3: going to do, but I trust Ozzie Newsome. Yeah. Or
- 1:59:35Speaker 3: is it Eric DaCosta? I dig one of the other.
- 1:59:37Speaker 3: I agree.
- 1:59:38Speaker 2: They're both still great GMs.
- 1:59:40Speaker 1: Yeah, they're both still incredible GMs. Moving on with the
- 1:59:46Speaker 1: injury report, let's go to the great white north. Oh, wait, no, that, oh, crap. Northwest. No,
- 1:59:55Speaker 1: I called it Canada. I was calling Canada Minnesota. Jamal
- 2:00:01Speaker 1: Adams has a, what was it, a torn, I think
- 2:00:06Speaker 1: it was what, a patella injury, right? But the point
- 2:00:12Speaker 1: is that he is out for the year, which absolutely sucks.
- 2:00:19Speaker 3: Before he even took a snap, too. That's a big
- 2:00:21Speaker 3: blow to not only his career, but to the Vikings.
- 2:00:28Speaker 2: I feel like this is just in a tough spot
- 2:00:29Speaker 2: this year.
- 2:00:31Speaker 3: Well, yeah.
- 2:00:31Speaker 1: I mean, they have J.J. McCarthy on their team.
- 2:00:34Speaker 2: It's a bet it's dying on a hill. Yeah.
- 2:00:40Speaker 3: Yep, that I am. He had that one good throw
- 2:00:44Speaker 3: in Baltimore and then he just did nothing.
- 2:00:45Speaker 2: I think Minnesota is just in a rough spot in
- 2:00:51Speaker 2: the NFC North in an already stacked division. I think
- 2:00:56Speaker 2: they're just in a tough spot.
- 2:00:59Speaker 1: Yeah, they're definitely in a tough spot. And speaking of
- 2:01:03Speaker 1: their division, Sam Laporta has a hip injury and they
- 2:01:09Speaker 1: don't know if he'll be ready for the start of
- 2:01:11Speaker 1: the regular season.
- 2:01:13Speaker 3: This is for the Lions, for those who don't know.
- 2:01:17Speaker 1: Yeah, for Detroit. And if he's not out there for
- 2:01:21Speaker 1: week one, that could be a big loss for the Lions.
- 2:01:30Speaker 3: Let me have a look.
- 2:01:33Speaker 2: How long does it say how long he's projected for?
- 2:01:36Speaker 3: Oh, it's for the Saints. It's for the Saints game on... Oh,
- 2:01:39Speaker 3: that's not a loss at all.
- 2:01:40Speaker 1: Oh my god, that's not a loss. I mean, it's
- 2:01:44Speaker 1: a loss of a player, but it's not a loss
- 2:01:46Speaker 1: of a game. Okay. Moving on.
- 2:01:51Speaker 3: Of course, that's the motivation he needs. Of course. Moving on.
- 2:01:54Speaker 1: But actually, let's talk about the Saints because now there's
- 2:02:00Speaker 1: no update on what happened with Chris Olave on Tuesday.
- 2:02:03Speaker 1: All it said was that he headed to the medical tent,
- 2:02:06Speaker 1: was walked off with his trainers. There's no update on
- 2:02:09Speaker 1: Chris Olave. But Alvin Kamara is expected to miss at
- 2:02:14Speaker 1: least a month with an MCL sprain. And Jordan Tyson,
- 2:02:18Speaker 1: their rookie receiver, who's been turning heads in training camp,
- 2:02:23Speaker 1: looks like the Saints have their own Mike Evans with
- 2:02:26Speaker 1: a hamstring injury, and he will be out two months.
- 2:02:29Speaker 3: Oh, that sucks.
- 2:02:32Speaker 1: Yeah, that sucks for the... The Saints. I mean, look,
- 2:02:38Speaker 1: I don't, again, I'm kind of bummed with Jordan Tyson because, again,
- 2:02:44Speaker 1: I've seen videos of what he's been doing in training
- 2:02:46Speaker 1: camp because, you know, I follow the Saints a little
- 2:02:50Speaker 1: bit on social media just to get a feel of
- 2:02:53Speaker 1: what they're doing. You know, maybe do a little self-scouting
- 2:02:57Speaker 1: on the Saints. But Jordan Tyson was doing really good
- 2:02:59Speaker 1: for them. If it wasn't Taysom Hill that was causing
- 2:03:03Speaker 1: me angina and every type of heart problem known to
- 2:03:08Speaker 1: man with how problematic it was for Atlanta to stop,
- 2:03:11Speaker 1: it was Alvin Kamara as a very close number two.
- 2:03:16Speaker 1: So the fact that he's out at least a month
- 2:03:20Speaker 1: with an MCL sprain means maybe he's out for the
- 2:03:26Speaker 1: Monday night game. And that'd be great.
- 2:03:32Speaker 3: Now, which Monday night game are you referring to? Oh, right,
- 2:03:35Speaker 3: Driver game, yeah.
- 2:03:37Speaker 2: Yeah, you can't listen. You need all the hope you
- 2:03:40Speaker 2: can get right now, so it's okay to have your
- 2:03:42Speaker 2: hopes a little up. But if we know that whenever
- 2:03:47Speaker 2: you come crashing in on the following podcast recording, we'll
- 2:03:51Speaker 2: know what happened.
- 2:03:53Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll know what I have been thinking about, but I'm... Yeah, no,
- 2:04:00Speaker 1: Alvin Kamara is just an absolute... Say what I will
- 2:04:06Speaker 1: about the Saints, but it's ridiculous with Kamara's balance. Like,
- 2:04:13Speaker 1: his balance is on another level. Even at his current age,
- 2:04:18Speaker 1: I think he's in his 30s now, if I'm not mistaken.
- 2:04:25Speaker 2: Well, let's find out, because I'm honestly not sure myself.
- 2:04:28Speaker 2: He is 31.
- 2:04:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:04:31Speaker 1: So he's, he's got incredible, uh, contact balance. Um, I mean,
- 2:04:37Speaker 1: I can say you can do something different about that
- 2:04:39Speaker 1: bull ring. Like, you know, not having a bull ring.
- 2:04:42Speaker 2: Hey, that's fine. It fits. It fits.
- 2:04:52Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:04:53Speaker 1: Um, again, not a big fan of it, but again, not,
- 2:04:58Speaker 1: not going to be there. I mean, it, It is
- 2:05:01Speaker 1: what it is with Alvin Kamara, but yeah, not there.
- 2:05:07Speaker 1: And next on the injury report, Tyler Biotich. This one
- 2:05:14Speaker 1: is in Nova's area of the world because he leaves Dallas.
- 2:05:19Speaker 1: He goes to the chargers and now he's out for
- 2:05:22Speaker 1: the season.
- 2:05:23Speaker 3: This one's blows because I, everyone's still thinking the charges
- 2:05:27Speaker 3: can do something to season with a better offensive line.
- 2:05:29Speaker 3: Cause remember, The Chargers lost both their tackles, Joe Alton. Man,
- 2:05:34Speaker 3: why am I blanking on the other tackle? But I digress.
- 2:05:38Speaker 3: It's just like they had a terrible offensive line. They
- 2:05:40Speaker 3: still made the playoffs despite it. And people are thinking, oh,
- 2:05:43Speaker 3: if Justin Herbert has a better offensive line, it's going
- 2:05:46Speaker 3: to be a much better season for the Chargers. Nope,
- 2:05:49Speaker 3: you lose your center.
- 2:05:52Speaker 1: Yep, lose your center. And that's going to be a
- 2:05:56Speaker 1: big loss for... The Chargers, and I feel bad for
- 2:05:59Speaker 1: Justin Herbert's safety this season.
- 2:06:04Speaker 3: Keep in mind, their favorites win the division.
- 2:06:10Speaker 1: I don't know how much I agree with that one, Chief.
- 2:06:14Speaker 3: That's why I keep seeing over on the internet. Don't
- 2:06:16Speaker 3: judge me.
- 2:06:17Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean, if Denver plays the way that Denver
- 2:06:22Speaker 1: did last year, that division is theirs for the taking.
- 2:06:25Speaker 1: I don't care about The fact that, you know, oh,
- 2:06:28Speaker 1: Chiefs are coming back or whatever. Like, I mean, we
- 2:06:30Speaker 1: heard what Brandon said last week about Patrick Mahomes.
- 2:06:34Speaker 3: And I'm.
- 2:06:37Speaker 1: Not going that far.
- 2:06:39Speaker 2: I'll go that far again. Patrick Mahomes is a mid quarterback.
- 2:06:44Speaker 1: Okay.
- 2:06:47Speaker 2: I'll do it again. But no, the Chiefs are slight favorites.
- 2:06:55Speaker 2: to win the AFC West over the Chargers. And when
- 2:06:58Speaker 2: I say slight favorites, I mean 160 to 180 range
- 2:07:01Speaker 2: for KC and to 185 to 190 for the Chargers.
- 2:07:06Speaker 3: Is that like Vegas odds or is this more of
- 2:07:08Speaker 3: like internet talk?
- 2:07:09Speaker 2: Those are sports books. Those are sports books Vegas odds.
- 2:07:13Speaker 3: Okay. No thoughts on Denver. I don't know if I
- 2:07:19Speaker 3: like that.
- 2:07:23Speaker 1: I don't know if I like that. But we just
- 2:07:27Speaker 1: talked about Tyler Biotich having a season-ending injury. Nova, I'm
- 2:07:34Speaker 1: sorry for you that Danny Pinter is out for the
- 2:07:38Speaker 1: year with a torn patella tendon.
- 2:07:47Speaker 2: I hear the silence of a Google search.
- 2:07:48Speaker 3: That's what this is. I know.
- 2:07:50Speaker 1: I hear the silence as well.
- 2:07:53Speaker 3: Ah, yeah. I blanked on that one. First of all,
- 2:07:56Speaker 3: we lost Tyler Linderbaum to the Raiders, which apparently was
- 2:08:00Speaker 3: premeditated because the Raiders wanted to send it out madly.
- 2:08:03Speaker 3: We just couldn't pay Linderbaum for some reason. Yeah, this
- 2:08:07Speaker 3: one kind of sucks. I'll be real. No one's going
- 2:08:12Speaker 3: to replace Tyler Linderbaum, but we need to protect Lamar
- 2:08:14Speaker 3: Jackson because, you know, everyone's dog-watering on Lamar Jackson for
- 2:08:18Speaker 3: some reason, because they think he's the reason the franchise
- 2:08:22Speaker 3: is doing terrible. Like, everyone ducks on Lamar Jackson. Do
- 2:08:25Speaker 3: you all just keep forgetting he has, like, mostly mediocre
- 2:08:30Speaker 3: offensive line play for the last three years or so?
- 2:08:35Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I do.
- 2:08:36Speaker 3: Because apparently everybody wants to forget about it. I just
- 2:08:39Speaker 3: want to blame Lamar Jackson, like always. Yeah.
- 2:08:45Speaker 2: Uh..
- 2:08:46Speaker 1: It'll be interesting to see how, I mean, again, outside
- 2:08:49Speaker 1: of left tackle in the NFL, I would say center
- 2:08:53Speaker 1: is the second most important position on the offensive line.
- 2:08:58Speaker 3: Actually, no, for us, it's the guard. Because remember, Daniel
- 2:09:01Speaker 3: Falele was as terrible as he was.
- 2:09:05Speaker 1: He will never let Daniel Falele live down Willie Brandon.
- 2:09:10Speaker 2: Absolutely not.
- 2:09:14Speaker 1: Just a couple more injuries to report on. Jeremiah Love
- 2:09:20Speaker 1: is dealing with a high ankle sprain, so he is
- 2:09:24Speaker 1: probably out until week one of the regular season, which
- 2:09:28Speaker 1: I think is smart on the Cardinals. You don't want
- 2:09:31Speaker 1: to lose that investment of your number four overall pick
- 2:09:35Speaker 1: of America. Was he four or three?
- 2:09:38Speaker 3: Number three, and he's also the highest paid running back, too.
- 2:09:41Speaker 2: I think he'll be out until at least week three
- 2:09:43Speaker 2: or four if they play it safe like they should
- 2:09:47Speaker 2: and protect their value and their pick as well as
- 2:09:49Speaker 2: the individual player. I think he'll be out a couple
- 2:09:51Speaker 2: more than just past week one.
- 2:09:53Speaker 3: Especially on that contract. And by the way, that week
- 2:09:58Speaker 3: one game, if he is to play on it, it's
- 2:10:00Speaker 3: against the Chargers. Oh, man. So good luck against Khalil Mack.
- 2:10:10Speaker 1: Good luck against Khalil Mack is right. But also coming out,
- 2:10:20Speaker 1: George Kittle is activated from the pup list.
- 2:10:24Speaker 3: The substation is now disabled. Incorrect.
- 2:10:28Speaker 2: It'll take another victim to make up for this. We
- 2:10:31Speaker 2: have a week of preseason left. Let's pop our brakes
- 2:10:33Speaker 2: on this one. It'll claim at least two more before
- 2:10:36Speaker 2: week three ends.
- 2:10:37Speaker 3: It's fine.
- 2:10:41Speaker 2: Mark it down. It'll claim at least two more for
- 2:10:43Speaker 2: the substation sacrifice before preseason ends.
- 2:10:50Speaker 1: Probably. But just a couple more injuries left to talk
- 2:10:56Speaker 1: about here. Now, we are going to talk about what
- 2:11:00Speaker 1: happened in practice. But as we are recording, gentlemen, Bud
- 2:11:06Speaker 1: Clark of the Seahawks, he got carted off. And he
- 2:11:12Speaker 1: had the air cast on his leg.
- 2:11:15Speaker 3: Oh, no.
- 2:11:16Speaker 2: That's not a good sign.
- 2:11:18Speaker 1: That is never a good sign when you have the
- 2:11:21Speaker 1: air cast put on your leg. So we are hoping
- 2:11:26Speaker 1: that everything is good with Bud Clark. We will update
- 2:11:31Speaker 1: with more information as we get that update. Ladies and gentlemen,
- 2:11:36Speaker 1: but yeah, he is probably not going to be back
- 2:11:42Speaker 1: anytime soon. And that also adds in with the fact
- 2:11:46Speaker 1: that Jake Bobo from the Seahawks earlier this week, he
- 2:11:51Speaker 1: got carted off with a knee injury and Mike McDonald
- 2:11:55Speaker 1: said early indications are it's serious.
- 2:12:01Speaker 3: That sucks for that receiver group, because you definitely need
- 2:12:03Speaker 3: to spread the ball away from Jackson, Smith, and Jigba
- 2:12:06Speaker 3: when you can.
- 2:12:08Speaker 1: Yeah, but even still, JSN is that good of a
- 2:12:12Speaker 1: receiver that it really doesn't matter if he has any... Like,
- 2:12:20Speaker 1: if he's being double-covered right now. He's just been that good.
- 2:12:29Speaker 1: And Brandon, your thoughts?
- 2:12:30Speaker 2: JSN is just..
- 2:12:31Speaker 3: A nightmare.
- 2:12:32Speaker 2: JSN's a nightmare.
- 2:12:34Speaker 3: Oh, you're going to find out on week one. You're
- 2:12:36Speaker 3: going to find out.
- 2:12:39Speaker 2: Listen, I need you to shut your mouth right now
- 2:12:41Speaker 2: because I refuse to let that happen again.
- 2:12:45Speaker 3: And if it does?
- 2:12:46Speaker 2: I'm just going to sit here and cry about it
- 2:12:49Speaker 2: like I did during the Super Bowl.
- 2:12:50Speaker 3: It's fine. Okay, good. I'm not going to bully you.
- 2:12:54Speaker 2: At least... At least week one is going to start
- 2:12:57Speaker 2: out the season like the season ended for us.
- 2:12:59Speaker 3: Look, I'm just giving you a hypothetical. I'm not calling
- 2:13:02Speaker 3: anything out. I'm just giving you a whole question and
- 2:13:04Speaker 3: answer thing.
- 2:13:05Speaker 1: Ugh.
- 2:13:12Speaker 2: I'm trying to find the replay of this Bud Clark entry,
- 2:13:14Speaker 2: but I don't think anywhere is actually showing it.
- 2:13:18Speaker 1: Um, I can't find it myself. Um... But, yeah, I mean,
- 2:13:25Speaker 1: it is very unfortunate, because, I mean, especially if you're
- 2:13:28Speaker 1: a rookie, like, that's, like, the worst thing to happen
- 2:13:32Speaker 1: before you're... Ooh.
- 2:13:36Speaker 2: It was at the start of the game, too.
- 2:13:40Speaker 1: It was at the start of the game?
- 2:13:42Speaker 2: It was the very first defensive play for Seattle.
- 2:13:46Speaker 1: Oh, no.
- 2:13:48Speaker 3: Oh, no.
- 2:13:52Speaker 1: Oh, no, that's not good at all. Yeah, I mean,
- 2:14:01Speaker 1: prayers up to Bud Clark, man. I hope that it's
- 2:14:04Speaker 1: all right.
- 2:14:07Speaker 2: I've got the video. His leg is broken.
- 2:14:10Speaker 3: Oh, no.
- 2:14:12Speaker 2: Yep, his lower right leg. It looks like it's right
- 2:14:15Speaker 2: below his shin on his right leg.
- 2:14:18Speaker 1: Oh, no.
- 2:14:22Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 2:14:23Speaker 2: Yeah, it was the it was the very first defensive play.
- 2:14:29Speaker 2: I'll post a link to it in our in our
- 2:14:32Speaker 2: studio chat. But yet it is it is the very
- 2:14:36Speaker 2: first defensive play for Seattle. You can you can tell
- 2:14:39Speaker 2: his leg is his lower leg is broken.
- 2:14:42Speaker 1: OK.
- 2:14:44Speaker 2: It's not they don't do a very good job at
- 2:14:46Speaker 2: showing it, but like it's like early on in the clip.
- 2:14:48Speaker 3: If you look at it. Oh, my. Oh, my.
- 2:14:50Speaker 1: Oh, God. Oh, God.
- 2:14:52Speaker 3: There it is. There it is.
- 2:14:55Speaker 1: Oh God. Yeah. Yeah. No, that, that, that's not, that's
- 2:15:01Speaker 1: not good at all. That's not good at all.
- 2:15:04Speaker 3: Oh, they don't, they don't show it.
- 2:15:06Speaker 2: They don't show it very clearly, at least from what
- 2:15:09Speaker 2: I watched of it, but it's, it's like, it's definitely broken.
- 2:15:13Speaker 1: Yeah. That, that, yeah, that, that was not a good look.
- 2:15:20Speaker 2: I'd say, yeah, if you go from like the minute
- 2:15:22Speaker 2: four mark of it.
- 2:15:23Speaker 3: Oh my goodness.
- 2:15:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:15:25Speaker 3: Yep.
- 2:15:25Speaker 2: He said it too.
- 2:15:26Speaker 5: Yep.
- 2:15:26Speaker 3: I knew if I dug enough, I'd find it. The
- 2:15:29Speaker 3: 11 or 12 second mark. Jesus.
- 2:15:31Speaker 2: The 104 mark shows it a lot better.
- 2:15:34Speaker 3: I saw it on the live cam. I saw it
- 2:15:36Speaker 3: on the live cam.
- 2:15:40Speaker 1: Yeah. And then our final injury report of the day is,
- 2:15:48Speaker 1: This one is fun because..
- 2:15:50Speaker 3: Whoa. Fun.
- 2:15:55Speaker 1: Let me say it in a way that's understandable. It's
- 2:15:59Speaker 1: fun in the sense that this person is now a
- 2:16:03Speaker 1: legitimate idiot for what they did. Yahoo Sports Fantasy via
- 2:16:11Speaker 1: underscore AC Barrios on TikTok posted this video Of a
- 2:16:17Speaker 1: fantasy football draft of which my leagues are starting up soon.
- 2:16:23Speaker 1: I'm already looking forward to finishing second place in the
- 2:16:28Speaker 1: wide league fantasy football league again.
- 2:16:30Speaker 3: Losing to me in first, it's fine.
- 2:16:33Speaker 1: Yeah, that was a lot of fun. But in this draft,
- 2:16:39Speaker 1: apparently the first overall pick was Ashton Genting.
- 2:16:47Speaker 2: I posted that for you.
- 2:16:51Speaker 1: And Nova and I, we had a little bit of
- 2:16:54Speaker 1: a discussion on this one, where I said..
- 2:16:58Speaker 3: Keep in mind, I've only played fantasy football for one year.
- 2:17:00Speaker 1: Again, keep that in mind, ladies and gentlemen. He's only
- 2:17:04Speaker 1: played it for one year, but... I said drafting Jenty
- 2:17:10Speaker 1: first overall is basically saying I want to lose my
- 2:17:15Speaker 1: fantasy football draft because pretty much the number one overall
- 2:17:20Speaker 1: pick in fantasy drafts this year is going to be
- 2:17:23Speaker 1: either Bajon Robinson or Jameer Gibbs. And the Bajon pick
- 2:17:27Speaker 1: going first overall has nothing to do with my bias.
- 2:17:30Speaker 1: It's because it's him and Gibbs as the top two
- 2:17:33Speaker 1: running backs in the league. And then Saquon Barkley is
- 2:17:36Speaker 1: number three.
- 2:17:37Speaker 3: No, not Derrick Henry.
- 2:17:40Speaker 1: Okay. Agree to disagree there, but the fact of the
- 2:17:44Speaker 1: matter is..
- 2:17:44Speaker 2: I think your biases are showing. It's fine.
- 2:17:47Speaker 1: Eh, just a little bit, Brandon. But point is... this gentleman,
- 2:17:52Speaker 1: I don't know his name on the draft itself, he
- 2:17:56Speaker 1: picked Ashton Gentee first overall, and it basically caused his
- 2:18:02Speaker 1: entire league to start crashing out. Justifiably.
- 2:18:06Speaker 3: Of course. I don't blame them.
- 2:18:09Speaker 1: I don't blame them.
- 2:18:10Speaker 3: I do.
- 2:18:13Speaker 1: Again, Ashton Gentry is not a first overall fantasy football pick.
- 2:18:18Speaker 1: He's just not. Maybe in a couple of years he
- 2:18:21Speaker 1: will be, but he's not right now. And apparently he
- 2:18:27Speaker 1: is hurt because according to our friend on Twitter Ari
- 2:18:38Speaker 1: Myrov I think I butchered his last name pronunciation I
- 2:18:44Speaker 1: do apologize to Ari but he is a really good
- 2:18:46Speaker 1: source for information on Twitter Raiders running back Ashton Gentry
- 2:18:51Speaker 1: suffered an apparent lower leg injury at practice today and
- 2:18:55Speaker 1: was down for a while before being helped off the
- 2:18:58Speaker 1: field by trainers and he could not put pressure on
- 2:19:03Speaker 1: his leg.
- 2:19:05Speaker 2: Yep It's also on ESPN as well now.
- 2:19:08Speaker 3: I'm looking at it right now. Social media, hold on,
- 2:19:11Speaker 3: this is going to be great here, from NFL Rumors,
- 2:19:13Speaker 3: and this already got community noted on Twitter. Ashton Jensen
- 2:19:17Speaker 3: is believed to have a torn ACL, and the context
- 2:19:19Speaker 3: says no credible reports confirm Ashton Jensen has a torn ACL.
- 2:19:22Speaker 3: And we hope it's not a torn ACL, first of all.
- 2:19:25Speaker 3: It's something less serious, but still, that's just poor timing
- 2:19:29Speaker 3: now that we actually have that context again. Yeah. Um..
- 2:19:36Speaker 1: Again, maybe he skirted a serious injury, but at the
- 2:19:42Speaker 1: same time, yeah, now you understand why it's stupid to draft,
- 2:19:47Speaker 1: to have a fantasy football draft before the preseason is over.
- 2:19:51Speaker 2: Correct.
- 2:19:52Speaker 3: That's why the only time I did fantasy league, I
- 2:19:54Speaker 3: did it before the regular season started. Yep. Yeah.
- 2:19:58Speaker 1: You, you cannot do a fantasy football draft in the preseason.
- 2:20:02Speaker 1: You'd never know.
- 2:20:04Speaker 3: Are you two in one?
- 2:20:07Speaker 1: Uh, I am in three.
- 2:20:11Speaker 3: No, I mean, like, are you guys in one where
- 2:20:13Speaker 3: it's not starting until the regular season or?
- 2:20:16Speaker 1: Oh, no, we haven't even, we haven't even drafted yet.
- 2:20:18Speaker 3: Okay. Yeah.
- 2:20:19Speaker 1: Oh yeah.
- 2:20:20Speaker 2: I refuse to do mine until week three or week.
- 2:20:23Speaker 2: The last week of preseason is over.
- 2:20:24Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:20:25Speaker 1: I mean, our, our, our good friend, uh, wide the
- 2:20:28Speaker 1: league that we're all, I think we're all in that league.
- 2:20:31Speaker 1: He hasn't set the draft date yet to my knowledge.
- 2:20:35Speaker 2: Uh, Um, there's one, he set a draft date for,
- 2:20:39Speaker 2: and I want to say it's, I want to say
- 2:20:43Speaker 2: it's this weekend.
- 2:20:45Speaker 3: Is it?
- 2:20:46Speaker 2: I want to say, Oh, wait, no, hold on. That
- 2:20:48Speaker 2: actually might be, that actually might be an unrelated one.
- 2:20:50Speaker 3: Hold on.
- 2:20:50Speaker 2: Let me look.
- 2:20:51Speaker 3: We probably moved us behind the scenes probably.
- 2:20:54Speaker 2: Um, but since, so on that note, um, you said there,
- 2:21:02Speaker 2: there's just, there's one more.
- 2:21:03Speaker 3: Oh yeah.
- 2:21:03Speaker 2: No, that was the unrelated league. Um, There was another
- 2:21:06Speaker 2: injury that we kind of missed that I feel like
- 2:21:07Speaker 2: it's worth mentioning. In the Philadelphia-New England preseason game, there
- 2:21:15Speaker 2: was in the very first... I'm sorry, the opening kickoff
- 2:21:21Speaker 2: of the game, Philly had a running back that got
- 2:21:27Speaker 2: knocked out cold on the opening kickoff because he took
- 2:21:32Speaker 2: an accidental knee to the helmet. and was carted off
- 2:21:37Speaker 2: the field entirely unconscious. He was not responding to any
- 2:21:44Speaker 2: sort of external stimuli. He wasn't responding to any commands,
- 2:21:48Speaker 2: nothing of that nature. So it was definitely stopped for
- 2:21:52Speaker 2: a while because they had an ambulance on the field
- 2:21:55Speaker 2: loading him up onto a stretcher and ran him to
- 2:21:58Speaker 2: the hospital to where, thankfully, he did wind up recovering.
- 2:22:02Speaker 2: And actually was released from the hospital and traveled home
- 2:22:05Speaker 2: with his team. So luckily there was no neck injury that,
- 2:22:08Speaker 2: you know, could have jeopardized his career, much less his life.
- 2:22:12Speaker 2: Then he was, he was able to travel home. I
- 2:22:14Speaker 2: believe it was actually that same night.
- 2:22:17Speaker 3: Thank goodness. Cause like I caught tail end of that
- 2:22:20Speaker 3: one during the NFL network when I was done watching
- 2:22:22Speaker 3: the Rams game.
- 2:22:24Speaker 2: Yeah, it was, it was straight up like some Jackie
- 2:22:28Speaker 2: Chan knee to the head, knee to the side of
- 2:22:31Speaker 2: the head type thing. It was rough. He was ragdolled
- 2:22:38Speaker 2: before he hit the ground.
- 2:22:42Speaker 3: Yeah, that kind of sucks.
- 2:22:44Speaker 1: Yeah, that does kind of suck at that. But yeah, no,
- 2:22:49Speaker 1: I mean, back to the fantasy football thing. I mean, Nova,
- 2:22:54Speaker 1: I don't think Wide has... uh scheduled the leagues yet
- 2:22:58Speaker 1: i have a different league i believe scheduled for saturday
- 2:23:04Speaker 1: oh no um september 6th so we have we have
- 2:23:08Speaker 1: a week to get the draft um.
- 2:23:11Speaker 3: I might join in now you guys are making me
- 2:23:12Speaker 3: interested in joining returning for the first time in 11
- 2:23:15Speaker 3: years and yes it's been 11 years since i did
- 2:23:19Speaker 3: fantasy Yeah, and.
- 2:23:22Speaker 1: The other league is the league I do with my
- 2:23:24Speaker 1: brother and a couple of his friends. And since my
- 2:23:28Speaker 1: brother is the commissioner, he's the one who has to
- 2:23:31Speaker 1: start the league. And he's just being a lazy son
- 2:23:33Speaker 1: of a bitch. But outside of that, I... I think
- 2:23:43Speaker 1: we have gotten through all the news and information around
- 2:23:48Speaker 1: the NFL. So without further ado, it's time for the
- 2:23:52Speaker 1: main event segment, the segment that everybody loves. It is
- 2:23:57Speaker 1: the time when we ruffle people's feathers.
- 2:24:07Speaker 2: I'll take it away this time.
- 2:24:09Speaker 3: Oh, damn.
- 2:24:10Speaker 1: I might have accidentally got the actual cop sound from
- 2:24:13Speaker 1: in the community behind my house.
- 2:24:17Speaker 3: Why are you doing this to yourself? Oh, man.
- 2:24:26Speaker 1: Honestly, it was kind of tough for me to come
- 2:24:29Speaker 1: out with an actual topic for mine this week. Because
- 2:24:36Speaker 1: there was just so much information that was going out
- 2:24:41Speaker 1: there with just the NFL and all that. And also,
- 2:24:47Speaker 1: I didn't have much time to look at most of
- 2:24:49Speaker 1: the games. But what I will say, I think that,
- 2:24:57Speaker 1: and again, this might be going a little crazy on
- 2:24:59Speaker 1: this one, but I'm going to use it. I think
- 2:25:04Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers, will not make it through the regular season.
- 2:25:08Speaker 1: I think Drew Aller will take the reins and he
- 2:25:13Speaker 1: will be playing for the Steelers by week 10.
- 2:25:21Speaker 3: You're really giving that much discrepancy to the Steelers offensive line?
- 2:25:27Speaker 1: I'm giving Drew Aller the nod of approval, and I'm
- 2:25:32Speaker 1: saying he's going to send old Mr. Rogers out of
- 2:25:35Speaker 1: the neighborhood and to the glue factory.
- 2:25:38Speaker 3: It's not like the worst thing I've heard, but I'm
- 2:25:40Speaker 3: pretty sure... Okay, that's more of the Colts thing, okay?
- 2:25:46Speaker 3: First of all. Second of all, it's not the worst
- 2:25:49Speaker 3: hot take to be seen. However, I do think Aaron Rogers,
- 2:25:52Speaker 3: being his last season, he doesn't want to let go
- 2:25:54Speaker 3: of his starting position. Even through injury. I'm pretty sure
- 2:25:57Speaker 3: he is going to try to pull up a Baker
- 2:25:58Speaker 3: Mayfield before he got axed by the Browns and tried
- 2:26:01Speaker 3: to play through injury. But yeah, I can see your
- 2:26:05Speaker 3: hot take. I can see it.
- 2:26:08Speaker 1: Yeah. Again, it was kind of tough to get something
- 2:26:13Speaker 1: out there to really piss off fans. And who knows?
- 2:26:15Speaker 1: I might have actually made fans happy because I said
- 2:26:18Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers won't finish the season.
- 2:26:23Speaker 3: Definitely is an option. Definitely is one because he is.
- 2:26:26Speaker 3: I think he's also the oldest player in the league
- 2:26:28Speaker 3: right now.
- 2:26:31Speaker 1: He's he's probably up there, I would think.
- 2:26:37Speaker 2: Oldest player in the NFL active player is Aaron Rodgers,
- 2:26:40Speaker 2: who is 42 years old.
- 2:26:41Speaker 3: That was right. OK.
- 2:26:44Speaker 2: Followed by Mercedes Lewis for Denver at 41. Matt Prater
- 2:26:47Speaker 2: at 41. Nick Folk at 41. There's a lot of
- 2:26:53Speaker 2: 40-plus in the league right now. Jesus Christ.
- 2:27:02Speaker 1: Damn. Nova, what is your hot take?
- 2:27:07Speaker 3: This is the hard part because I really don't think
- 2:27:09Speaker 3: I have a good one for this week because there's
- 2:27:11Speaker 3: nothing negative to report other than the fact that there
- 2:27:15Speaker 3: isn't really a thing I don't want to be mentioning.
- 2:27:18Speaker 3: I guess I'll have to come up with this one
- 2:27:21Speaker 3: on the fly. I What am I thinking? Trying to
- 2:27:25Speaker 3: talk this one out to myself. Yeah, this one's hard
- 2:27:31Speaker 3: because I don't know what I envision. What are really
- 2:27:36Speaker 3: any true negatives? Okay, last week I said the Packers,
- 2:27:42Speaker 3: so I'll have to leave Dynasty North out of this
- 2:27:45Speaker 3: for now. The Sean Watson doesn't get cut. Whoa. I'll
- 2:27:58Speaker 3: go with that.
- 2:27:59Speaker 2: Banned? Banned. Done.
- 2:28:05Speaker 3: Conversation's over. I'm not saying I don't think it's going
- 2:28:14Speaker 3: to be a PR move. I think it's more so
- 2:28:16Speaker 3: Cleveland afraid to take out the dead cap. I could
- 2:28:20Speaker 3: see that, though.
- 2:28:21Speaker 2: I really could.
- 2:28:24Speaker 3: The realistic thing they should do is to take out
- 2:28:26Speaker 3: the dead cap, but I have a really bad feeling
- 2:28:28Speaker 3: Jimmy Haslam is not going to let that happen.
- 2:28:35Speaker 1: I can see that happening.
- 2:28:39Speaker 3: Yeah, I kind of just not had nothing. I had
- 2:28:41Speaker 3: nothing bad for this week.
- 2:28:44Speaker 1: Again, it was a light week, honestly, for that.
- 2:28:50Speaker 3: So how is Brandon going to mess this up now?
- 2:28:53Speaker 2: No, no, I'm not going to mess up anything. I'm
- 2:28:55Speaker 2: not going to mess it up. So I've got two
- 2:28:57Speaker 2: that I've been really thinking about this week. And I
- 2:29:00Speaker 2: think one is more realistic than the other. I'll let
- 2:29:02Speaker 2: you decide which one is which. So my first one
- 2:29:09Speaker 2: is that I think Jamar Chase is going to triple
- 2:29:11Speaker 2: crown this year.
- 2:29:13Speaker 3: I mean, Joe Burrow has to carry the load again.
- 2:29:15Speaker 3: He probably might. When I say.
- 2:29:18Speaker 2: Jamar Chase is going to triple crown, I mean 200 targets, 2,000
- 2:29:25Speaker 2: receiving yards.
- 2:29:27Speaker 3: Oh, I don't think he's going to say 200 targets.
- 2:29:31Speaker 2: 200 targets has been done before. It's been done multiple times.
- 2:29:37Speaker 2: I think he triple crowns with the 2K yards, though.
- 2:29:40Speaker 3: See, the last triple crown was Cooper Cup in 2-8-21, though.
- 2:29:43Speaker 3: I don't think that's going to happen like that. That's
- 2:29:48Speaker 3: why it's a hot take. Triple crowns are rare as
- 2:29:53Speaker 3: it is, but I don't think a triple crown with
- 2:29:55Speaker 3: 200 receptions I think is realistic. The 2,000 yards thing,
- 2:29:57Speaker 3: that's more believable. My other one.
- 2:30:04Speaker 2: My other hot take that I think, again, you can
- 2:30:05Speaker 2: decide which one is more realistic than the other, is
- 2:30:09Speaker 2: that I think Baker Mayfield is a top five QB
- 2:30:11Speaker 2: this season. Really?
- 2:30:17Speaker 3: That's going to ruffle Talon's feathers. I think that's more
- 2:30:19Speaker 3: realistic than the other. Yeah. Because here's the thing. This
- 2:30:25Speaker 3: actually makes more sense because Baker's essentially on a prove-it
- 2:30:28Speaker 3: deal now.
- 2:30:30Speaker 2: But not only is Baker on a prove-it deal, But
- 2:30:33Speaker 2: Emeka is a really great wide receiver.
- 2:30:36Speaker 3: Thanks for reminding me about the Rob Gronkowski incident with
- 2:30:39Speaker 3: Emeka Egbuka. Yeah.
- 2:30:42Speaker 2: He's got Egbuka. He's got Godwin. He's got McMillan. Kay
- 2:30:46Speaker 2: Dotton's not a terrible tight end. Or as Rob Gronkowski
- 2:30:49Speaker 2: would say it, Emeka Egbeku.
- 2:30:52Speaker 3: That's how he said it.
- 2:30:54Speaker 2: He's got Bucky Irvin and Kenneth Gainwell in that backfield.
- 2:30:57Speaker 2: And I think Baker could be a top five QB
- 2:31:01Speaker 2: this season.
- 2:31:07Speaker 1: Sure, let's go with that.
- 2:31:11Speaker 2: Sure, the Atlanta fans are not showing any bias at
- 2:31:14Speaker 2: this whatsoever.
- 2:31:15Speaker 3: I might have shown mine with the Jamar Chase thing.
- 2:31:24Speaker 2: And that's why I chose those two particular ones.
- 2:31:34Speaker 3: He really has nothing to say, huh? I had something
- 2:31:35Speaker 3: to say about Jamar Chastain.
- 2:31:38Speaker 1: I really have nothing to say outside of the fact
- 2:31:41Speaker 1: that I'm going to drug test Brandon for that one.
- 2:31:45Speaker 3: See, there's only proof I can defend rivals better than
- 2:31:47Speaker 3: you can, Talon.
- 2:31:49Speaker 1: Yeah. I just can't see it. I don't want to
- 2:31:55Speaker 1: see anything good happen to mine. Because, I mean, at
- 2:31:57Speaker 1: least in your division, everybody has a healthy respect for
- 2:32:00Speaker 1: each other, except for the Cleveland Browns, in which you
- 2:32:03Speaker 1: just feel sorry for them.
- 2:32:05Speaker 3: Or me with the Steelers.
- 2:32:09Speaker 1: At least with Atlanta, until Atlanta can actually win a
- 2:32:14Speaker 1: Super Bowl, it's basically we don't like the Bucs. We
- 2:32:19Speaker 1: hate the Saints. And the Panthers are just there.
- 2:32:24Speaker 2: Panthers won their division last year.
- 2:32:26Speaker 3: What are you talking about?
- 2:32:26Speaker 2: They're just there.
- 2:32:27Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:32:28Speaker 1: Well, because Atlanta gave them the win.
- 2:32:32Speaker 3: No, they didn't. They got smoked by them twice.
- 2:32:35Speaker 1: The Panthers needed Atlanta to win against the Saints because
- 2:32:40Speaker 1: they couldn't beat the Bucs.
- 2:32:44Speaker 3: So what you're saying is Atlanta choked.
- 2:32:48Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, you can make that argument that Atlanta
- 2:32:53Speaker 1: choked and..
- 2:32:54Speaker 3: Why does that? Why does that a lot of that lately?
- 2:32:58Speaker 1: Oh, that Super Bowl will never... I'll never.
- 2:33:00Speaker 3: Live with that.
- 2:33:03Speaker 5: 28-3.
- 2:33:03Speaker 3: 28-3. No, speaking of which, we're about to be... We
- 2:33:05Speaker 3: should send your anniversary with that.
- 2:33:06Speaker 1: Oh, so remind me.
- 2:33:12Speaker 2: We're hanging in the rafters this year.
- 2:33:17Speaker 3: In the hall of memedom. Oh, man.
- 2:33:24Speaker 1: But I think that's going to do it for today,
- 2:33:27Speaker 1: ladies and gentlemen. Thank you so much for another successful
- 2:33:31Speaker 1: episode of the Ruffling the Feathers podcast. Honestly, it's been
- 2:33:37Speaker 1: a lot of fun over this last month just talking
- 2:33:39Speaker 1: football with people because you don't really get to do
- 2:33:42Speaker 1: that all that much. I mean, outside of your local...
- 2:33:46Speaker 1: areas and everything, so it's nice to actually talk with good,
- 2:33:50Speaker 1: knowledgeable individuals and a Patriots fan.
- 2:33:55Speaker 2: Listen here, 28 to 30.
- 2:34:01Speaker 3: Everyone listening, I am free from strays. Don't worry. Oh, man.
- 2:34:08Speaker 1: But, ladies and gentlemen, please, if you have liked this podcast,
- 2:34:12Speaker 1: please give us a like on any of the that
- 2:34:16Speaker 1: you listen to, whether it be Apple Podcasts, on Spotify, iHeartMedia, Amazon,
- 2:34:21Speaker 1: wherever you get our podcasts from, please go show us
- 2:34:25Speaker 1: some support. Leave a like on the podcast. Give us
- 2:34:28Speaker 1: a five-star review so we can be featured more into
- 2:34:32Speaker 1: the algorithm. And Nova, Brandon, any final thoughts for the listeners?
- 2:34:40Speaker 2: Oh, I'm just ready for this week one podcast. I'm
- 2:34:45Speaker 2: ready to see what happens when all three of our
- 2:34:47Speaker 2: teams take that Week 1 L.
- 2:34:50Speaker 3: No, it's not happening. We got the Colts.
- 2:34:53Speaker 1: I mean, I've already been saying my piece about Atlanta's
- 2:34:59Speaker 1: Week 1, and I will stand on that until the
- 2:35:03Speaker 1: end of time. Yeah, until Week 1 is done. Until
- 2:35:07Speaker 1: Week 1 is done.
- 2:35:09Speaker 3: Yeah, but what I gotta say is we have one
- 2:35:10Speaker 3: more Sunday to go. And I hope we do dedicate
- 2:35:14Speaker 3: that time to actually make our power rankings to make
- 2:35:16Speaker 3: account for our final Sunday recording, because once next week's done,
- 2:35:20Speaker 3: we have to change the schedule for our recording drastically. Okay.
- 2:35:26Speaker 1: And as we are finishing breaking news, do we have
- 2:35:31Speaker 1: a breaking news sound? I don't think we have one, but..
- 2:35:35Speaker 3: The siren's the closest thing, but we already used it.
- 2:35:38Speaker 1: Already used... I'll just use this one because it's breaking.
- 2:35:49Speaker 1: The Saints are trading Deion Jones to San Francisco in
- 2:35:53Speaker 1: exchange for Zamir White.
- 2:35:55Speaker 3: Interesting.
- 2:35:57Speaker 2: Interesting.
- 2:35:59Speaker 1: So Deion Jones signs with the Saints to complete the
- 2:36:02Speaker 1: NFC South Infinity Gauntlet. And he doesn't even get to
- 2:36:09Speaker 1: play a down for the Saints. Especially if that's his
- 2:36:11Speaker 1: hometown team.
- 2:36:12Speaker 3: Who's reporting this?
- 2:36:14Speaker 1: Adam Schefter.
- 2:36:16Speaker 3: Nah, you can trust the chef. Not Shams, though, because
- 2:36:19Speaker 3: Shams apparently got ousted earlier.
- 2:36:24Speaker 1: Okay, but... Yeah, breaking news at the end of the podcast.
- 2:36:29Speaker 1: But again, ladies and gentlemen, thank you so much for
- 2:36:33Speaker 1: listening to episode five. We will be back with episode
- 2:36:36Speaker 1: six next week where we break down the 53-man rosters
- 2:36:40Speaker 1: because it'll be cut down day by that time. And
- 2:36:44Speaker 1: for Brandon and for Supernova, I am Talent Master Jay.
- 2:36:47Speaker 1: Thank you so much. And we will see you next time.
