- 0:09happened to be a farmer. This is my chicken coop and I
- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning. I think it's safe to say that
- 0:31most of us don't like problems. I do.
- 0:34I think it's safe to say we just all want everything to be smooth
- 0:39and easy going and quote UN quote perfect.
- 0:43But we have to remember that not all problems are bad and
- 0:48problems help us grow and problems push us in new
- 0:52directions. And the the world is a constant
- 0:56and never ending Petri dish of opportunity to see things
- 1:00differently. And when we remember that, like,
- 1:04you know, not all storms are here just to cause a problem.
- 1:09Sometimes they're here to clear a path.
- 1:11You know, they don't. They disrupt our life in the
- 1:13moment. But sometimes great things come
- 1:15from this. Now, one of those perfect
- 1:17examples I go through all the time here is, well, what happens
- 1:21when you take things away and give other things opportunities
- 1:25to grow? So we go through that with
- 1:27taking trees down. We take a pine tree down and all
- 1:29of a sudden the the oak next to it can spread out.
- 1:32We pull out weeds in a certain area and all of sudden you have
- 1:36things that grow up naturally. Like I do not have any jessamine
- 1:41that we planted anywhere on this farm, yet we're covered in it.
- 1:44When we got rid of the, the brush, the ground, the thick
- 1:48ground stuff that was suffocating it out.
- 1:50And that word suffocating is so true for many things.
- 1:55Sometimes we feel like we're being suffocated by a situation,
- 1:59a person, a, you know, any condition that we might be
- 2:05living in in our lives, life, and we feel like, oh, this is
- 2:07just suffocating me. Now, these can be simple things
- 2:11like a closet. OK, so I am not a clothes
- 2:15person. Anybody who listens regularly
- 2:17knows this. I, I do not like shopping.
- 2:20I find it to be an arduous task. I don't like trying things on.
- 2:24I it's just walking in and looking at the racks and seeing
- 2:27it all there. If it's not like right there and
- 2:29it jumps right out at me, I'm like, I want to run.
- 2:32And the my closet is always an issue for me because I have my
- 2:38favorite things, my comfy things that I love to wear.
- 2:42And then there are those things that are just there.
- 2:45And it's hard for me sometimes to let go of those things
- 2:47because the moment I throw away the pants that have the paint
- 2:51all over them, I'm going to want to paint and I'm going to want
- 2:53those pants out. So I, I tend to hang on to
- 2:56things, but the cause it can be suffocating sometimes.
- 3:00So even simple tasks like that, like saying, okay, let me do
- 3:04laundry, get my clothes folded, put them away and don't just
- 3:07stack them on the top of those things.
- 3:10Really look and see what can I get rid of?
- 3:12This past week, I did just that. I would, I finished coaching for
- 3:16the day and I walked in and I was putting my stuff away from
- 3:20laundry and I looked and I was like, I, I did not wear one of
- 3:24those sweaters all year long or the year before.
- 3:27I'm going to donate them. And I pulled them down and that
- 3:30turned into a let me pull these shirts out.
- 3:32Let me get rid of this. Why am I keeping a shirt that
- 3:35has a stain on it? And here's the funny part.
- 3:37It started off as just a simple like moment.
- 3:42I didn't realize, but the when the closet was clear, I had this
- 3:48OK. I felt like I was not so
- 3:51suffocated in those moments of just looking at it, and I didn't
- 3:55even realize that was the word. But then, you know, you start to
- 3:58think about those conditions and how they spread everywhere.
- 4:01Little tiny things having so much of something can really
- 4:05wipe us out. So like a refrigerator, a simple
- 4:09thing like a refrigerator, you open the refrigerator door and
- 4:12the refrigerator is so stuffed you can't put another thing in
- 4:16it yet. You know, a lot of that stuff
- 4:19that's in there needs to be cleaned out.
- 4:21And what do we do? We just stuff something in the
- 4:22front and shut the door because we're in a hurry or whatever.
- 4:25But it doesn't feel inviting. It doesn't feel inviting to eat
- 4:27healthy food. It doesn't feel inviting to to,
- 4:30to like be excited about going and prepping food.
- 4:34So this condition being suffocated and saying, OK, it
- 4:39does. It shows up from the storms, it
- 4:41shows up from the problems, it shows up from the the lingering
- 4:44things that we have created. But it has to be cleared out, my
- 4:48friends. It has to have that push, that
- 4:50storm that comes through, whether it's the storm of me
- 4:52going into my closet and ripping it all down and putting it up.
- 4:56Great that that was a great storm.
- 4:58I can, I can handle that and getting rid of this stuff.
- 5:01I'm going to be really excited tomorrow to take all of that to
- 5:04Goodwill and give it away and just feel like that.
- 5:08Then I went and did it to my son's closet and that felt
- 5:10fantastic. And I'm like, OK, this feels
- 5:13really good. So think about it.
- 5:15Where in your life have you felt the suffocation and where in
- 5:21your life have you recognized that?
- 5:23You know that the belief is that when the storm comes through, it
- 5:28sometimes clears the path. What is it done?
- 5:30Take out those things that are suffocating you, look for the
- 5:34things that are suffocating and figure it out.
- 5:37All right, my friends, I hope you have a blessed day and I
- 5:39will see you tomorrow. Bye.
