  suggest a theme for June and we both really liked it and it's

  pride month and we decided that we wanted to pick movies that

  worry. Either going to feature lgbtq
• 2:49
  characters or cast and crew or themes or themes, or they
• 2:54
  address certain things related to the lgbtq experience.

  And we decided to start with Jennifer's Body.

  Yeah. And we announced last week that

  Hold some statistics that I feel like kind of tied into this

  movie. I think it's pretty notable

  about the fact that needy and Jennifer their relationship

  crosses beyond the platonic at times.

  the difference that it can make to have an lgbtq affirming

  environment, as a teenager because I think that this movie

  can carry a lot of weight. Especially for people who maybe

  have grown up in a small town, and didn't necessarily always

  experience that. Yeah, so lgbtq youth, who

  attempted suicide in the past year.

  Percent came from a not lgbtq affirming home and 17% from a
• 4:21
  not affirming school as opposed to 10% from an lgbtq affirming
• 4:25
  home in 13% from an lgbtq school, okay?

  And then suicide attempt to rate by a community acceptance of
• 4:34
  lgbtq people 21% if they're in a very unaccepting Community is
• 4:39
  opposed to 8% in a very accepting community.

  So really having that support there is isn't just and I mean
• 4:49
  you and I have witnessed this with some some folks close to us
• 4:54
  and their experiences coming out or deciding whether or not to
• 4:59
  come out. Yeah, the fear, they feel how it
• 5:03
  will affect their families, how it'll affect their friends if
• 5:06
  it's going to damage those relationships, they have.

  Yeah and I think that that's kind of interesting to look at
• 5:13
  when we're looking at this movie, that is Anna.

  Very small town. You know, it's never like

  explicitly talked about what the lgbtq acceptance is in Devil's
• 5:25
  Kettle, but we've both been in a small town.

  I think we know what the feeling is part of the dialogue in this
• 5:31
  movie. Kind of, makes me think that
• 5:33
  it's of the not forgiving nature.

  learn about their local resources and support local,

  lgbtq businesses, and get that support back in return.

  That was Diablo, she wrote it, okay.

  And I was like, okay, well now I'm really intrigued and

  watching this movie and we ended up watching it last October, I

  think. Yeah, we watch the last year,

  and it was so much better than I would have ever expected.

  Yeah, it's a good move. And I can't believe that it was

  under my radar for so long. I really bought into the social

  hype about it and I shouldn't have.

  But it really also does kind of go to show what the status quo

  can do to people, which is kind of the whole point of our

  fucking pride month theme with our movie.

  Yeah. But yeah I just thought those

  They didn't want the effects to outweigh the story of what was

  going on. So there had to be like a really

  good balance that way the story. Like they didn't want to be such

  a spectacle that it was taking away from everything else
