April 2 - The Physician Who Welcomes Sinners · Bible Chat Devotional

Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
• 0:06
rooted in Scripture and relevant for today, April 2nd.
• 0:12
Walking wisely through Life Life does not always feel
• 0:15
straightforward. Some seasons feel clear, but
• 0:19
others feel like walking through a fog where every choice carries
• 0:22
weight and every mistake feels heavier than it should.
• 0:26
Proverbs chapter 13 verses 15 to 16 reminds us that wisdom
• 0:31
matters deeply. It tells us that good sense wins
• 0:34
favor and that the wise receive instruction.
• 0:38
Psalm chapter 38 gives us the honest cry of someone feeling
• 0:41
the pain of failure. David says, O Lord, rebuke me
• 0:45
not in your anger. And then in Mark chapter 2 verse
• 0:48
5, Jesus looks at a hurting man and says, Son, your sins are
• 0:52
forgiven. That is such a beautiful picture
• 0:55
of grace. We all want wisdom, but the
• 0:58
truth is we do not always choose it.
• 1:00
Sometimes we go with what is easier, faster, or more fun in
• 1:04
the moment. Sometimes we know better and
• 1:06
still do the wrong thing. And when that happens, shame can
• 1:10
make us feel stuck. We replay the mistake, question
• 1:13
our worth, and wonder whether we have gone too far.
• 1:17
But Jesus steps into that place with forgiveness and
• 1:19
restoration. Walking wisely does not mean you
• 1:23
will never fail. It means you keep bringing your
• 1:25
heart back to God. It means you let Him teach you,
• 1:29
correct you, and steady you when you are tempted to give up on
• 1:32
yourself. Wisdom grows when you choose
• 1:35
honesty over pretending, humility over pride, and
• 1:38
repentance over hiding. Maybe today you feel the weight
• 1:42
of something you said, a choice you made, or a pattern you know
• 1:45
is not healthy. Do not run from God, Run to Him.
• 1:49
He is not looking for perfection before He helps you.
• 1:53
He meets you in your need. He forgives, He restores.
• 1:56
He teaches you how to walk differently going forward.
• 1:59
Wisdom is not just about making fewer mistakes.
• 2:02
It is about staying close to the God who lovingly guides your
• 2:05
steps even after you stumble. Let's pray.
• 2:09
Heavenly Father, thank you that when I fail, Your grace is still
• 2:12
greater. Teach me to walk wisely and to
• 2:15
listen when You correct me. Give me humility to admit my
• 2:19
mistakes and courage to trust Your forgiveness.
• 2:22
Help me make choices that honor you, and when I feel weak,
• 2:25
remind me that you are near and ready to restore me.
• 2:28
Lead my heart and your wisdom today in Jesus name, Amen.
• 2:35

• 3:38
Proverbs chapter 13 verses 15 to 16 World English Bible.
• 3:43
Good understanding wins favor, but the way of the unfaithful is
• 3:46
hard. Every prudent man acts from
• 3:49
knowledge, but a fool exposes folly.
• 3:51
Psalm Chapter 38 World English Bible A Psalm by David for a
• 3:56
memorial Yahweh, don't rebuke me in Your wrath, neither chasten
• 4:00
me in your hot displeasure, for Your arrows have pierced me.
• 4:03
Your hand presses hard on me. There is no soundness in my
• 4:06
  flesh because of Your indignation.
• 4:08
Neither is there any health in my bones because of my sin.
• 4:12
For my iniquities have gone over my head as a heavy burden.
• 4:15
They are too heavy for me. My wounds are loathsome and
• 4:18
  corrupt. Because of my foolishness.
• 4:20
I am in pain and bowed down greatly.
• 4:23
I go mourning all day long, for my waist is filled with burning.
• 4:26
There is no soundness in my flesh.
• 4:28
I am faint and severely bruised. I have groaned by reason of the
• 4:32
anguish of my heart. Lord, all my desire is before
• 4:35
You. My groaning is not hidden from
• 4:37
  you. My heart throbs.
• 4:39
My strength fails me. As for the light of my eyes, it
• 4:42
has also left me. My lovers and my friends stand
• 4:45
aloof from my plague. My kinsmen stand far away.
• 4:49
They also who seek after my life lay snares.
• 4:52
Those who seek my hurt speak mischievous things and meditate
• 4:55
deceits all day long. But I, as a deaf man, don't
• 4:58
hear. I am as a mute man who doesn't
• 5:00
open his mouth. Yes, I am as a man who doesn't
• 5:03
hear, in whose mouth are no reproofs.
• 5:05
For I hope in you, Yahweh, you will answer, Lord my God.
• 5:09
For I said, don't let them gloat over me or exalt themselves over
• 5:12
me when my foot slips, for I am ready to fall.
• 5:16
My pain is continually before me.
• 5:18
For I will declare my iniquity. I will be sorry for my sin.
• 5:21
But my enemies are vigorous, and many Those who hate me without
• 5:25
reason are numerous. They who render evil for good
• 5:28
are also adversaries to me, because I follow what is good.
• 5:31
Don't forsake me, Yahweh, my God, don't be far from me.
• 5:34
Hurry to help me, Lord, my salvation.
• 5:37
Mark Chapter 2 World English Bible When he entered again into
• 5:41
Capernaum after some days, it was heard that he was at home.
• 5:45
Immediately many were gathered together so that there was no
• 5:48
more room, not even around the door, and he spoke the word to
• 5:51
them. Four people came carrying a
• 5:53
paralytic to him. When they could not come near to
• 5:56
him for the crowd, they removed the roof where he was.
• 5:58
When they had broken it up, they let down the mat that the
• 6:01
paralytic was lying on. Jesus, seeing their faith, said
• 6:05
to the paralytic, Son, your sins are forgiven you.
• 6:08
But there were some of the scribes sitting there and
• 6:10
reasoning in their hearts. Why does this man speak
• 6:13
blasphemies like that? Who can forgive sins but God
• 6:16
  alone? Immediately Jesus, perceiving in
• 6:19
his Spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, said to them,
• 6:22
Why do you reason these things in your hearts?
• 6:25
Which is easier to tell the paralytic your sins are
• 6:28
forgiven, or to say, arise and take up your bed and walk, but
• 6:32
that you may know that the Son of man has authority on earth to
• 6:34
forgive sins. He said to the paralytic, I tell
• 6:37
you, arise, take up your mat and go to your house.
• 6:41
He arose and immediately took up the mat and went out in front of
• 6:44
them all, so that they were all amazed and glorified God, saying
• 6:47
we never saw anything like this. He went out again by the
• 6:50
seaside. All the multitude came to him
• 6:53
and he taught them. As he passed by, he saw Levi the
• 6:56
son of Alphareus sitting at the tax office.
• 6:59
He said to him, Follow me, and he arose and followed him.
• 7:03
He was reclining at the table in his house, and many tax
• 7:06
collectors and sinners sat down with Jesus and his disciples,
• 7:09
for there were many, and they followed him.
• 7:12
The scribes and the Pharisees, when they saw that he was eating
• 7:15
with the sinners and tax collectors, said to his
• 7:17
disciples, Why is it that he eats and drinks with tax
• 7:20
collectors and sinners? When Jesus heard it, he said to
• 7:24
them, Those who are healthy have no need for a physician, but
• 7:27
those who are sick. I came not to call the
• 7:29
  righteous, but sinners to repentance.
• 7:32
John's disciples and the Pharisees were fasting, and they
• 7:35
came and asked him, Why do John's disciples and the
• 7:38
disciples of the Pharisees fast, but your disciples don't fast?
• 7:42
Jesus said to them, Can the groomsmen fast while the
• 7:45
bridegroom is with them? As long as they have the
• 7:47
bridegroom with them, they can't fast.
• 7:50
But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away
• 7:53
from them, and then they will fast.
• 7:54
In that day no one sews a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old
• 7:58
garment, or else the patch shrinks and the new tears away
• 8:01
from the old, and a worse hole is made.
• 8:04
No one puts new wine into old wine skins, or else the new wine
• 8:08
will burst the skins, and the wine pours out, and the skins
• 8:11
will be destroyed. But they put new wine into fresh
• 8:14
wine skins. He was going on the Sabbath day
• 8:17
through the grain fields, and his disciples began as they went
• 8:20
to pluck the ears of grain. The Pharisees said to him,
• 8:24
Behold, why do they do that which is not lawful on the
• 8:26
Sabbath day? He said to them, Did you never
• 8:29
read what David did when he had need and was hungry?
• 8:32
He and those who were with him, how he entered into God's house
• 8:36
at the time of Abiathar the high priest and ate the show bread
• 8:39
which is not lawful to eat except for the priests, and gave
• 8:42
also to those who were with him. He said to them, the Sabbath was
• 8:46
made for man, not man for the Sabbath.
• 8:48
Therefore the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.
