- 0:03From the unexplained to the mundane, come join
- 0:06us on a Journey to the Fringe. Hello and welcome
- 0:13to Journey to the Fringe, where sometimes, hey,
- 0:16we're reading books and that just ends up with
- 0:18us going down a line of episodes that we just
- 0:21have to keep going down. Like, that's just what
- 0:24happens sometimes. And I'm not saying this is
- 0:26the time that it's happening, but sometimes it
- 0:28happens. Anyhow, I'm Taylor here with Chelsea,
- 0:31we are your podcast hosts, and today we got another
- 0:34Bigfoot episode on our hands. Oh my gosh. No,
- 0:37I'm sure you guys are sick of Bigfoots, like,
- 0:39yeah. I could never be sick of Bigfoots, to be
- 0:42honest. And that's what I'm hoping from our listeners.
- 0:45And I got, it's not just a Bigfoot episode, and
- 0:48weirdly enough, Chelsea, this is a continuation
- 0:49of an episode you did well in the past, where
- 0:52Jello was eaten. We've been doing episodes for
- 0:55too long, I do not remember Jello being eaten.
- 0:57Well, this is a Bigfoot episode, but there are
- 1:00two main factors in everything I want to be talking
- 1:03about today, Chelsea. First off, there is mention
- 1:07of a Bigfoot sighting. It either will happen,
- 1:10has happened, or is happening. I don't think
- 1:13is happening actually happens. I just need to
- 1:15get all the tenses involved here. What else will
- 1:18happen in each of the things that I'm going to
- 1:19be talking about today is that the government's
- 1:22going to be getting involved, or at least somebody
- 1:24who says they're from the government's going
- 1:25to be getting involved. Today, Chelsea, we are
- 1:28doing Bigfoot meets the Men in Black episode.
- 1:31What? There's Bigfoot Men in Black? Yes. This
- 1:34might be a weird way to say it. It's not just
- 1:37Men in Black. It's going to be the government's
- 1:38intervention with people who say they saw Bigfoot
- 1:42or are going to see it. And you know what? We've
- 1:44had a few episodes with Men in Black come up.
- 1:46One was the Men in Black episode and the other
- 1:48one was the Mothman Prophecy. Yeah. Yeah. Where
- 1:53the Man in Black drank the delicious yellow.
- 1:56That was the John Keel episode. I think it was.
- 1:59I don't know what episode it was. It had Men
- 2:01in Black in it because they were drinking jello.
- 2:03Yep, they sure were. Chelsea, it is not just
- 2:06an alien interaction that the Men in Black have.
- 2:08It actually is a very distinct interaction that
- 2:11we see when it comes to other groups. Today we're
- 2:13just going to be looking at the Bigfoot area.
- 2:16No, we're not just looking at Men in Black. I
- 2:17thought we'd look at like weird times people
- 2:20say the government has interacted with them with
- 2:23regards to Bigfoot things. I can get behind that.
- 2:25I'm also interested in knowing about them. And
- 2:28I think an interesting place to actually start
- 2:30is this year, the FBI actually released a group
- 2:34of documents with regards to Bigfoot. They released
- 2:38their entire Bigfoot archives, which turns out
- 2:40to be 22 pages of documents. That's it. Yep,
- 2:44that's it. You know, I wouldn't expect the government
- 2:47to have a heavy hand with Bigfoot. I don't know
- 2:49why. Yeah. And you know what? I actually was
- 2:52trying to find things on the national parks and
- 2:55anything they had, and they got nothing, which
- 2:57you think they'd at least have some sort of weird
- 2:59study out there that says, like, hey, people
- 3:01are saying they saw this. Like, let's at least
- 3:03look at it. Well, if I know anything from anything
- 3:05of David Polatis that I've listened to, it's
- 3:07that the national parks know nothing. And this
- 3:09proves it. Yeah. I think he comes up later in
- 3:13this episode. I can't remember if I cut that
- 3:14part or not, but let me just say what I will
- 3:17be talking about is just a tip of the iceberg
- 3:20of people claiming government interaction or
- 3:23people from official statuses trying to interact
- 3:26with them with regards to Bigfoot sightings.
- 3:29So I just had to limit it to what I found the
- 3:33most interesting and we could do another episode
- 3:35on this because there is so much. But like I
- 3:39said, We have this one document. It was released
- 3:41this year, March of 2026. 22 pages and it's basically
- 3:46a back and forth between this guy named Peter
- 3:49Burns. B -Y -R -N -E. That sounds familiar. From
- 3:53the Bigfoot Information Center. and exhibition
- 3:56he sent these 16 hair samples to be tested by
- 4:00the FBI and he keeps following up and he's like
- 4:02hey I keep hearing that you guys studied these
- 4:05things and you couldn't figure out what it came
- 4:08from it came back unknown and eventually the
- 4:11FBI gets back to him they're like I don't know
- 4:13where that keeps coming from we studied it it's
- 4:15deer that's all you sent us was deer okay so
- 4:18that's the one document that I was able to find
- 4:20from the FBI or any official government spots
- 4:23it's kind of funny that just ends up doing that
- 4:25way over 22 pages and it's from the 70s so it
- 4:28goes real slow but let's get in some actual these
- 4:31are the ones where people get super conspiracy
- 4:34about and the first one Chelsea do you or I don't
- 4:36think we are no neither of us were alive for
- 4:38this the explosion of Mount Saint Helen No, I
- 4:42don't think I was alive for that. No, because
- 4:44it happened in 1980. I just saw right at the
- 4:47top when I'm gonna start my script here. When
- 4:49Mount St. Helens blew its top on May 18th, 1980,
- 4:52it wasn't just trees and elk that vanished under
- 4:54ash and fire. In years that followed, a stranger
- 4:56story began to circulate. According to rumors,
- 4:59rescue and recovery crews working in the National
- 5:01Guard found more than animal carcasses in this
- 5:03blast zone. Which makes sense. You're in the
- 5:06Pacific Northwest, Bigfoot stocking grounds,
- 5:08like quite literally. So... A couple of them
- 5:11had to die in that explosion unless they got
- 5:15advanced notice. That's fair. Now helicopter
- 5:21pilots allegedly spotted large hairy bodies scattered
- 5:25among the debris. Bodies that didn't look like
- 5:28bears and definitely didn't look human. The story
- 5:30goes that those bodies were loaded into cargo
- 5:33nets, flown out under military supervision and
- 5:35quietly disappeared. Witnesses claimed that they
- 5:38were told to be quiet and that the operation
- 5:40was classified and that men in unmarked uniforms
- 5:44oversaw the removal. Where the bodies went depend
- 5:46on who you ask, some say Fort Lewis, Hanford,
- 5:50maybe some unnamed government lab, and here's
- 5:52the thing, no official record of any of this
- 5:55exists. What a weird coincidence. The eruption
- 5:57zone was under strict military control, that's
- 6:00absolutely true, so civilians couldn't verify
- 6:02what was happening. Thousands of animals really
- 6:04did die and carcasses were airlifted for disposal.
- 6:08That part is fully documented. but not Bigfoot
- 6:11bodies. That is not documented. It comes entirely
- 6:13from anonymous or secondhand testimony. There's
- 6:16no reports, no photos, no physical evidence for
- 6:19this. I'll just give you a very clear example
- 6:21of like where these stories come from. At one
- 6:24of Ray Crow's western Bigfoot meetings, someone
- 6:27brought up the topic of corpses of Sasquatches
- 6:29after the May 18, 1980 eruption of Mount St.
- 6:32Helens in Washington State. The witness heard
- 6:34of two Sasquatches the Army Corps of Engineers
- 6:37had taken out of the volcanic devastation. This
- 6:40was two months after the initial blast. Terry
- 6:42Reams heard of a dredging operation of the Cowlitz
- 6:45River and two bodies were found in the sand.
- 6:48A chopper flew them off. Joe Beelart. offered
- 6:51that the crane doing the dredging was from the
- 6:54Manitowocca Company and that the bodies were
- 6:57found two weeks after the Mount St. Helens blast
- 6:59of 18th 1980. He suggested that somebody might
- 7:02want to track down the company and find out who
- 7:04are working the shift that the bodies have been
- 7:06found on. Like that's it. All just rumors for
- 7:08this one. I'm not able to find anything that
- 7:10actually makes it sound true. But like nonetheless
- 7:14it sticks around. Have you heard that one, Chelsea,
- 7:16that they found Bigfoot bodies during Mount St.
- 7:18Helens explosion? Okay. No, I've never heard
- 7:20that one. It's actually like a fairly big one.
- 7:23Really? Yeah. No, but like where else, other
- 7:26than like Joe with the town hall meeting, where
- 7:28else does it come up? Honestly, I've read a few
- 7:32articles that they don't give references to where
- 7:35it comes from. like that was the only one i could
- 7:38find where it actually comes like with the original
- 7:40reference it's just like another one of those
- 7:42things that's just understood that's out there
- 7:44in the ether yeah okay and the people from uh
- 7:48project camelot follow those people home to their
- 7:50old folks home and get so sad when they won't
- 7:54talk to them despite them leaving letters to
- 7:57their attendants Now, here's the next story I
- 8:01got. October 2008, deep in the Sierra Nevada
- 8:04near Gold Lake, hunter Justin Smeja and a friend
- 8:07were tracking deer when they saw something they
- 8:09couldn't explain. Two figures, upright and covered
- 8:12in hair, moving through the trees. Smeja said
- 8:14that the first was huge, seven maybe eight feet
- 8:17tall, broad -shouldered, walking like a man.
- 8:19He thought it was a bear and fired. Then a smaller
- 8:22one appeared. younger and thinner he shot at
- 8:24that too later calling it a humane thing to do
- 8:27when he talked about it afterwards he said quote
- 8:29it looked like a person a person covered in hair
- 8:32i don't know why are you saying that when he's
- 8:34saying why did you shoot it oh my god you don't
- 8:37leave orphans oh man what a terrible person sorry
- 8:42anyhow the protagonist of our story here the
- 8:46two men left the mountain fast weeks later smeja
- 8:48went back with researcher derek randall's in
- 8:51the snow they found what looked like a piece
- 8:53of hide about the size of a hand, thick with
- 8:55coarse hair, frozen solid. They called it the
- 8:57Sierra Steak, and Smeha believed it came from
- 8:59the juvenile he'd shot. The sample was sent to
- 9:02several labs, including Dr. Mel Baketchum's private
- 9:06lab, a couple of university facilities, and one
- 9:09forensic lab that handled wildlife cases for
- 9:11federal agencies. According to Smeha, the results
- 9:14came back all over the map. One said human, one
- 9:17said human mixed with something unknown, and
- 9:19a third said the sample was too degraded to classify
- 9:22but the government linked lab he said they refused
- 9:24to release their full results they told him quote
- 9:28we can't classify this we're not pursuing it
- 9:31further end quote and then they stopped answering
- 9:33his calls Smejas convinced the government didn't
- 9:36want to touch it that they stonewalled refused
- 9:38to return the sample and pretended it never existed
- 9:41quote if it had been a bear man quote he said
- 9:44quote they'd have told me if it had been a person
- 9:47I'd be in prison End quote. We've done a whole
- 9:50episode on Dr. Melba Ketchum. Please go listen
- 9:52to that and you can learn a bit about her. Safe
- 9:55to say, she too is somebody who claims government
- 9:57intervention, but I think you can go back to
- 9:59that episode to learn more. Yeah. And this was
- 10:02a separate lab that did it, that wasn't Melba
- 10:06Ketchum, right? Yes. He sent it to several labs,
- 10:09one of them being government and he only got
- 10:11like weird pushback from the government. Okay.
- 10:14I'm going to pretend you didn't say Melba Ketchum
- 10:16there and just leave it at that. Yeah, we're
- 10:17going to skip this. and Smeha eventually distances
- 10:20himself from her work but he still insists something
- 10:23weird happened with the DNA someone didn't want
- 10:25to deal with it. Okay that's fair enough I'll
- 10:28accept that. Now the next one we're gonna talk
- 10:30about happens in 1992 it's from a man named Paul
- 10:33Freeman. Now it's worth knowing who Paul Freeman
- 10:36actually was because depending on who you ask
- 10:38he was either one of the most credible trackers
- 10:41in the Pacific Northwest or complete fraud it's
- 10:45kind of hard to tell with him and that's me doing
- 10:48the research saying it is kind of hard to tell
- 10:50either he is like so credible and actually legit
- 10:55yeah yeah and I actually do think this guy deserves
- 10:59his own episode so I don't want to get too much
- 11:02into it like he is incredibly interesting what
- 11:04was his name again Paul Freeman Okay, Paul. Freeman
- 11:08spent years working as a U .S. Forest Service
- 11:11Patrolman in the Blue Mountains of Washington
- 11:13and Oregon. He wasn't some weekend hiker, he
- 11:16lived in the woods. Basically. He knew the trails,
- 11:19the wildlife, the smells, the sounds, and long
- 11:21before his name became tied to Bigfoot, which
- 11:24it completely is now, he already had a reputation
- 11:27among other rangers as a guy who could read the
- 11:30ground like a book. He was eventually fired from
- 11:32the Forest Service, not for anything Bigfoot
- 11:34related, but for internal issues that never got
- 11:36fully explained publicly. I couldn't find the
- 11:39actual answer why he was fired. After that, he
- 11:42leaned harder into tracking, and that's when
- 11:43he started finding big, wide, Bigfoot footprints
- 11:47that split the Bigfoot community right down the
- 11:49middle. Some researchers swear these are the
- 11:52real deal. Others think he's too lucky for his
- 11:55own good, because he finds them a lot. Okay,
- 11:58yeah, I would agree. In the summer of 1992, Freeman
- 12:01was hiking a restricted section of the Mill Creek
- 12:04watershed near Walla Walla. It's an area closed
- 12:06to the public, patrolled by the Forest Services
- 12:09and not the kind of place you just wander into.
- 12:12He said he came across a line of fresh 16 -18
- 12:15inch tracks, a clump of reddish -brown hair snagged
- 12:18on a branch a pile of scat, unlike anything he'd
- 12:21ever seen, and a musky smell that made him think
- 12:24he wasn't alone. He collected everything he could,
- 12:26the hair, the scat, and several plaster casts.
- 12:29I really hope he had a plastic bag with him for
- 12:31the scat. I don't have time! And then later he
- 12:37says, quote, It was the best evidence I had ever
- 12:40found, the kind of thing that should have changed
- 12:43everything." But according to Freeman, this is
- 12:46when things get strange. He said a group of Forest
- 12:48Service officials show up out of nowhere. They
- 12:51told him he was trespassing, confiscated the
- 12:53samples, took their own photos, and ordered him
- 12:55to leave immediately. Freeman said these weren't
- 12:59the rangers he knew, not local, not wearing standard
- 13:02uniforms. He called them quote government types
- 13:04end quote. He believed they were federal wildlife
- 13:07officers brought in specifically because of what
- 13:10he'd found. When he asked about the samples later,
- 13:12he was told they'd been destroyed, contaminated,
- 13:14no reasons to keep them. And when he went back
- 13:16to the site, the tracks were gone. The ground
- 13:18had been raked over. The area looked scrubbed
- 13:21clean. To Freeman it felt deliberate. He said
- 13:35the officials refused to identify themselves,
- 13:39refused to explain why they were there, and told
- 13:41him to stop poking around in restricted areas.
- 13:43Took it as a warning and moved on. Researchers
- 13:46who knew him, like Grover Krantz and Jeff Muldrum,
- 13:49said Freeman told them the story right after
- 13:51it happened. Krantz, who wasn't exactly a conspiracy
- 13:54guy, said, quote, Paul believes the government
- 13:56took his samples. I can't confirm it, but I can
- 13:58confirm he believed it, end quote. Muldrum also
- 14:01added, quote, Paul felt he'd been interfered
- 14:03with, whether it was a misunderstanding or something
- 14:06or I can't say," end quote. Freeman kept searching
- 14:08the area, but he said he was followed, watched,
- 14:11even controlled by unfamiliar officials in the
- 14:14woods. He believed the government was monitoring
- 14:15him. I'll get a bit into the controversy of him
- 14:18here. First off, Chelsea, I know we've talked
- 14:21about butt prints before, and it's actually been
- 14:23a fairly recent phenomenon. There's not just
- 14:26one, and Paul Freeman has apparently the second
- 14:29most famous butt prints. Yeah, I can't believe
- 14:34yeah, Paul Freeman butt print And I'm going to
- 14:39start here. Though not the most famous supposed
- 14:42butt print in Sasquatch history, that being the
- 14:44Skookum cast, Freeman proceeded the Skookum cast
- 14:47by about seven years with his discovery of an
- 14:49impression of where a Sasquatch supposedly sat
- 14:52down. The impression was cast by Freeman and
- 14:54measured 14 .5 inches across at its widest point.
- 14:57In his book, Sasquatch, Legend Meets Science,
- 15:00Jeff Meldrum devotes considerable attention to
- 15:03the supposed anatomical features of this impression
- 15:05the oppression of the tailbone and the maker
- 15:08well -muscled. But there are red flags with Freeman,
- 15:12some raised by other Bigfoot advocates. At least
- 15:15three advocates engage in hands -on investigations
- 15:17of Freeman's track finds. Bob Titmuss, Peter
- 15:20Bearn, and most notably, Rene De Hinden. In November
- 15:24of 1987, De Hinden visited Freeman and was present
- 15:27when Freeman supposedly discovered another set
- 15:30of tracks that De Hinden dubbed the Indian Spring
- 15:32tracks. De Hinden took off his own shoes and
- 15:35socks to see what sort of tracks his own feet
- 15:37would make beside the alleged Sasquatch tracks.
- 15:40De Hinden's own footprints were much more shallow
- 15:43than the Bigfoot tracks. The known human tracks
- 15:45were in soil fine enough to capture dermal ridges.
- 15:48And indeed, De Hinden could see his own dermal
- 15:51ridges and his own tracks. Yet, the Sasquatch
- 15:54tracks had none. While photographing the Sasquatch
- 15:57tracks, the Hinden blew loose dirt from the bottom
- 15:59of the track to remove it. A small piece of dirt
- 16:01contained dermal ridges was discovered in the
- 16:04process. De Hinden concluded, it was my view
- 16:06that the skin pattern was made by someone patting
- 16:09down the dirt before pushing more dirt on top.
- 16:12That is, he believed he was being presented with
- 16:14a hoax. So, some people who have worked with
- 16:16him believe he hoaxes things. So, that's something
- 16:19we'll probably get into if he ever gets a chance.
- 16:26Hokes at Bigfoot. It's not like you say that
- 16:29but we did the episode on Rick. Yeah, I know
- 16:31that also technically should be in this episode
- 16:33That's who I think of when I think Bigfoot hoaxer
- 16:37But like what are you looking to get out of this
- 16:39is my question It just doesn't make sense to
- 16:42me though. I know that it happens. We've talked
- 16:44about it now Chelsea what we're gonna get into
- 16:47now these all come from the book where the footprints
- 16:50end part two specifically We're going to talk
- 16:53about the Men in Black portion of the Bigfoot
- 16:56community. And what is dubbed the Men in Plaid
- 17:00because they are distinctly different from the
- 17:02Men in Black. And I think you're going to like
- 17:04this. And this is actually a story that you have
- 17:07heard before. In the early 2000s, a woman named
- 17:09Claire, visiting California from the UK on business,
- 17:12decided to spend a free afternoon photographing
- 17:14sea otters near Carmel. She followed a coastal
- 17:17path down to a quiet cove, a kind of place that
- 17:19feels untouched and set up her camera on the
- 17:21rocks. That's when the air changed. She said
- 17:24she suddenly felt cold. The hair on her neck
- 17:26stood up. Across the cove she saw movement. At
- 17:29first she thought it was a group of large cats,
- 17:31until she realized they were far too big. Quote,
- 17:34they came around the promontory, end quote, she
- 17:37said. Quote, very large, very hairy, moving on
- 17:39all fours, end quote. One by one the creatures
- 17:41entered the cove, the largest nearly eight feet
- 17:43tall, followed by two smaller adults and three
- 17:46juveniles. Claire watched as the big male waded
- 17:48into the surf, tearing seaweed from the rocks
- 17:50and tossing it to The females chewed the roots,
- 17:53rubbed the seaweed on their chests, and draped
- 17:55it over their shoulders like shawls. She was
- 17:58stunned. Until part of her camera kit slipped
- 18:00and hit the rocks, the sound made every head
- 18:03turn. The male began moving toward her, gliding
- 18:05across the beach in a way she said looked unnatural.
- 18:08One of the females followed and the two seemed
- 18:10to argue, screaming in what she described as
- 18:12gibberish. Then the male turned toward her, howled,
- 18:15and pounded its fist into the sand. Last thing
- 18:17she remembered was feeling sick as the creature
- 18:19approached her, mouth wide open. And when she
- 18:21came to, she was 20 yards from her car, bruised,
- 18:24scratched, her jacket pulled around her head,
- 18:26her camera and bag were gone. And I'll just add
- 18:29at this point, there was another part of the
- 18:31story that happened two weeks ago that we just
- 18:34don't need to get into for this episode. that
- 18:37there was men in plaid involved with them. No,
- 18:40it's gonna keep going. I'm just saying there
- 18:42was something there that happened that we did.
- 18:44We talked about two weeks ago. Hotel staff, when
- 18:47she got back to the hotel, called the police
- 18:49and that's when the story took an even stranger
- 18:51turn. So she gets back to the hotel and these
- 18:53two men interrogate her from the police, I'll
- 18:56put in quotation marks, and one of them is like
- 18:58very tall. Six foot eight. What? Wearing a plaid
- 19:01shirt, long hair, beard, and just stands there
- 19:04where the other guy wearing a suit interrogates
- 19:06her. Six foot eight? Yeah, he's a tall guy. When
- 19:10Claire finishes telling the story, first officer
- 19:13told her she'd seen bears and that she was lucky
- 19:16to be alive. Second man said nothing, just standing
- 19:19there. She was told not to return to the area.
- 19:21Claire left California early still sick and shaken.
- 19:25Interesting. I'd like to hear the next story.
- 19:27Are they all wearing plaid? Yes, and it's the
- 19:30same kind of fucking weird. It is super weird.
- 19:34They specifically talk. I'll get to it at the
- 19:36end. It's from one podcast, so we'll talk about
- 19:39it. Next story, in July of 1997, just a guy named
- 19:44Travis, I don't have his last name from the story.
- 19:46He was in Glacier National Park. He was out on
- 19:49clean up duty with another worker and they caught
- 19:50whiff of something foul, like dead skunk he said.
- 19:54Following the smell up the trail they saw it,
- 19:56a massive hair cover creature lying on its side
- 19:59tearing apart a rotting tree. One of the men
- 20:01gasped and the creature leapt to its feet and
- 20:03locked eyes with them. Travis said he was instantly
- 20:06nauseous. Then their radio crackled with static
- 20:08and their Bigfoot began shaking, roaring so loud
- 20:11it echoed through the valley. The two men ran.
- 20:14Oh my god, that's terrifying. Yeah, that is terrifying.
- 20:17Back at the park, Travis was told by Forest Service
- 20:20staff to keep quiet. No one will believe him,
- 20:22they said. But he kept talking, asking questions,
- 20:24telling co -workers what he'd seen. And that's
- 20:26when the government showed up. On August 2nd,
- 20:29a black Ford Explorer with government plates
- 20:31rolled into the park. Out stepped a huge bearded
- 20:34man. So tall Travis, who's six foot four, had
- 20:37to look up to meet his eyes. The man started
- 20:40shouting in front of everyone, accusing Travis
- 20:42of confusing a bear for a mule deer. What? Calling
- 20:45his story ridiculous. These are the same. When
- 20:48someone nearby called him Gary, the man corrected
- 20:51them. Call me Bear. Apparently his name's Bear.
- 20:55Travis believed this man had come specifically
- 20:58to intimidate him, to make sure the Bigfoot story
- 21:00died right there. yeah because he was supposed
- 21:18to say you saw a bear but he's like no i'm there
- 21:22you saw i am not gary i am bear But it's like
- 21:28one of those lost in translation kind of things
- 21:30because they don't know how to interact That's
- 21:32kind of creepy both of those they're both like
- 21:34the exact same things. Why are they wearing plaid?
- 21:38Yeah, no, it's almost like they want to be presentable
- 21:41as park rangers or like people in the woods So
- 21:44they dress like lumberjacks to kind of like get
- 21:47that across which is another weird thing if you
- 21:51put it that way because men in black are like
- 21:54interpreting they're supposedly otherworldly
- 21:57right and they're interpreting yeah yeah they're
- 22:00they're putting their like understanding of how
- 22:02humans work onto like what we yeah so it's almost
- 22:06like the same kind of thing i find that a really
- 22:08weird detail that they're wearing the plaid and
- 22:11they're so tall yeah In late November of 2003
- 22:15in Tazewell County, Virginia, while snow was
- 22:18on the ground, another witness spotted a single
- 22:25bare footprint near a creek. He thought it was
- 22:33a prank until he found the second footprint,
- 22:34the opposite foot on the far bank. The stride
- 22:37between them was three of his own. He followed
- 22:40the track way through the woods for about 150
- 22:43yards until it led to a laurel thicket. That's
- 22:46when he heard grunting, deep heavy like a bear.
- 22:49Circling for a better view, he saw movement in
- 22:52a nearby tree, a five and a half foot tall black
- 22:55furred creature perched in the crook of the branches
- 22:58gripping the trunk with one arm. He realized
- 23:00it was female. Small breasts, visible through
- 23:02the hair, and then another grunt came from the
- 23:05thicket. Second creature stood up, towering above
- 23:07the brush, its head massive, its eyes dark and
- 23:10pupil -less. Panicked, this hunter fired and
- 23:13ran. When he looked back, the large creature
- 23:15was lifting the smaller one like a ragdoll and
- 23:17climbing a cliff face with impossible ease. The
- 23:20next day, a game warden came to investigate and
- 23:22they found blood in the snow, a bloody handprint
- 23:25on the rock, and collected samples. Before leaving,
- 23:27the warden warned him, that someone from another
- 23:31agency might be in touch. A week later, two men
- 23:36arrived at the Hunter's workplace in a gray minivan
- 23:39with government plates. One was clean cut, polite,
- 23:42wearing a suit. The other was huge, 6 '8", long
- 23:46hair, scruffy beard, dressed nothing like a government
- 23:49employee. They asked to speak privately, followed
- 23:51him home, and listened to his story. When he
- 23:54finished, the big man asked, do you think what
- 23:57you saw was really a Sasquatch? Hunter said yes,
- 24:00100 % sure. The man replied no. You didn't. And
- 24:03it would be in your best interest to forget this
- 24:05ever happened. And then they left. And he stayed
- 24:08silent for 10 years. Do you think the Bigfoots
- 24:11are connected with this big tall guy? Bear? I
- 24:15don't know. It's just so weird that there is
- 24:19a different Men in Black just for this. And they
- 24:22drive like shittier cars, and they don't dress
- 24:25as nice, and they don't have to be put together.
- 24:29This is so weird like they almost seem like they're
- 24:32related though the men in black Also appeared
- 24:35that way. Yeah, and and they just end up very
- 24:38blunt at the end of their story They say that's
- 24:40not what you saw. You saw something perfectly
- 24:43mundane. That's it. I'm so confused Why are they
- 24:47different than the men in black? I don't know.
- 24:50It's perfectly just like this own catch of it's
- 24:54both the men in black and like distinctly a bigfoot
- 24:57phenomenon it is so weird that these things happen
- 25:00and like there are multiple stories of this duo
- 25:04showing up to bigfoot encounters in weird ways
- 25:07and i also really like that in that last one
- 25:10they showed up in a me van like they were also
- 25:13doing like amazon deliveries on the side because
- 25:16intimidating sasquatch witnesses is not that
- 25:20well paid They probably still I mean, they're
- 25:23in the physical. It's a ticket on the delivery
- 25:25for Amazon stuff. They do probably still need
- 25:27to pay rent and and also attend to their otherworldly
- 25:32business. That's the episode I have is there
- 25:35are just weird claims that the government is
- 25:37involved with. OK, sightings. I could have done
- 25:40more. And now looking at the time this episode
- 25:43took, I thought it would have been longer, but
- 25:45I guess I shortened it a little too much when
- 25:47I was. OK, I fucking love that. I loved every
- 25:50second of that. And here's my question. You look
- 25:53at Men in Black with extraterrestrials that we
- 25:57talked about with John Keel. It seems as if they
- 25:59were protecting the aliens to some extent, right?
- 26:04What interests, and I guess I just kind of asked
- 26:06that, what interests would they have in protecting
- 26:09Bigfoot? And if it's because, you think Men in
- 26:14Black with aliens, national security is what
- 26:17you always think. because of the movie with Will
- 26:20Smith and you know the concern with the government
- 26:23with extraterrestrials but it seems like they
- 26:27have an otherworldly thing like what interest
- 26:29do they have and what would make Bigfoot different.
- 26:32Why would these people be like the knockoff version
- 26:36of the Men in Black? Why are they the budget
- 26:39T. Neal Men in Black? What are they like? What
- 26:42is it about Bigfoot? I think this all goes back
- 26:45to and this is my personal belief is it's all
- 26:47the same phenomenon at the end of the day. That's
- 26:50what I think too. That we're all trying to figure
- 26:52out and that this Men in X colour group falls
- 26:56within that category as well. They're not actually
- 26:58a government body. But why would they Well I
- 27:03find it pretty interesting too that it's very
- 27:05clearly this one guy in like plaid and is very
- 27:09tall with a beard and like long hair shows up
- 27:11repeatedly. That is paranormal in itself. Yeah
- 27:14but at the same time like nobody ever describes
- 27:16the same man in black guy but at the same time
- 27:19you can't say that because they're so nondescript.
- 27:22You don't know for sure. That's so totally true.
- 27:24Maybe it's paranormal in itself I tend to think
- 27:28of the men in black to be paranormal. Perhaps
- 27:31it is the person that they're appearing to. I
- 27:35find Bigfoot, there's a lot of instances where
- 27:37he's cited in relation to a UFO. or he's appearing
- 27:43you know with like in a ufo in a ufo piloting
- 27:47a ufo around orbs he seems to be super paranormal
- 27:51as well at first i thought maybe if he was to
- 27:55be like a flesh and blood creature maybe this
- 27:58thing would um this plaid man in black man in
- 28:04plaid Yeah, it would appear because it's more
- 28:09earthy or whatever, but no that doesn't make
- 28:12sense It seems to be associated a paranormal
- 28:15thing associated with a paranormal guy Yeah,
- 28:18and but at the same time like yeah, it is it
- 28:20is distinctly Bigfoot so it's weird that it is
- 28:24like this guy who's these guys who are different
- 28:27show up for Bigfoot exactly black So it is like
- 28:30Bigfoot are different than aliens But they're
- 28:34tied together. So why are these guys? Because
- 28:37it's vaguely the same thing. And is it because
- 28:39of the nature of the sighting, I wonder? It is
- 28:42entirely hard to say. Is it that? Is it the fact
- 28:45that there's a different group who likes Bigfoot?
- 28:48So like it represents itself in a different way,
- 28:50this phenomenon. Okay. So where does it say?
- 28:53All we can do is look at the cases and just like
- 28:55say, huh, that's interesting. Let's see if we
- 28:58can draw anything from it. It's confusing to
- 29:00me though. There's not enough information. It's
- 29:02so confusing to me. And you said something about
- 29:04a podcast. Yes. Apparently is from Wes Gurmer's
- 29:08Sasquatch Chronicles radio. They did a few episodes
- 29:11where they just talked about this man in plaid
- 29:13that shows up to sightings. I'm definitely SC
- 29:1770 through 72. OK, I'm definitely looking at
- 29:21that. I love that. You know me. I love the really
- 29:24weird stuff that was super weird. And I'm like
- 29:27reeling it, trying to wrap my head around what
- 29:29this means right now. The reason they were talking
- 29:32about it like for a while is because they kept
- 29:34getting people calling the show. saying they
- 29:36saw the same guy so they're like well we have
- 29:39to do an episode where we just talk about these
- 29:41stories we keep getting yeah i love it and i'm
- 29:46speechless i'm just trying to figure like what
- 29:48well that's okay i think the only speech we need
- 29:51at this point is i have been taylor here with
- 29:54chelsea we are journey to the fringe thank you
