- 0:05SPEAKER1: We are in the last week of our school year and today we are going to talk to some of our youngest students, our kindergartners, to hear straight from the
- 0:13sources about their year of learning.
- 0:18SPEAKER2: Welcome to this episode of Inside the OSD podcast, where it's all about the kids.
- 0:23Here is your host.
- 0:24Lifelong educator, and our superintendent, Dr.
- 0:27Leslie Bergstrom.
- 0:32SPEAKER1: I would like to start with an overall introduction.
- 0:35I am here with Ms.
- 0:36Ingham's kindergarten class at Prairie View Elementary School.
- 0:40Before we start talking with our students, I would like to give Ms.
- 0:43Ingham a chance to say a few words.
- 0:46Mrs. Ingham, let's start by having you tell our listeners a little bit about yourself.
- 0:52My husband and I are proud Oregon graduates.
- 0:55We have five children of our own here in the Oregon School District, and this is my third year teaching at Prairie View, but it's my 17th year teaching
- 1:04kindergarten. Very nice.
- 1:0617 years with those wonderful kids.
- 1:09That's a pretty fun way to spend your time.
- 1:11It sure is. What do you love most about being a kindergarten teacher?
- 1:15They are energetic and enthusiastic and just happy to be at school.
- 1:20It is so fun to spend each day with them.
- 1:22They're willing to do anything I throw at them every single day and they're just easy going and fun and just really love learning.
- 1:30Oh, that's so beautiful.
- 1:31And how do we keep that as they grow in our system?
- 1:34Because they start that way and it's pretty wonderful.
- 1:37What are you most proud of as you reflect on this school year?
- 1:41I'm proud of these kids.
- 1:42I'm proud of these students piloting different literacy programs and doing a couple of different things out of the ordinary this school year.
- 1:50They just rolled with the punches.
- 1:51They were super easy going, like I said, and just willing to try anything.
- 1:55They never gave up, were super excited and enthusiastic about the things that we were learning no matter what it was.
- 2:00So I'm just really proud of them and their hard work and all that they did this year.
- 2:03And I hear their hard work really paid off and that the students have done very, very well in learning new things this year.
- 2:09They have. They have come a really long a -- really far.
- 2:13It is amazing. That's exciting.
- 2:15Thank you for letting us visit your class.
- 2:17Thank you. Now I'd like to spend a little time talking with students from this class.
- 2:23For each question, please raise your hand and I'll call on a few of you for each question.
- 2:29When I call on you, please say your name.
- 2:32Did you get that part? Say your name and speak loudly so the microphone can pick up your voice.
- 2:38Here's your first question.
- 2:40What has been your favorite thing about kindergarten?
- 2:44Oh, okay.
- 2:45For those of you listening to the podcast, what you need to know is that almost every single hand is raised.
- 2:50And that means that there have been a lot of people having a great year in kindergarten.
- 2:55Okay, let's go this way.
- 2:57We'll try to get everybody at least once.

- 4:20What was that?
- 4:22I forgot. Oh, you forgot?
- 4:23You forgot what you learned.
