- 0:00Speaker 1: This podcast is recorded on gaddigal Land Always was, always
- 0:03Speaker 1: will be Aboriginal Land ajix. I'm out and I'm sall
- 0:13Speaker 1: and this is too Breachi that shares life lessons on
- 0:16Speaker 1: tipstale will make.
- 0:16Speaker 2: You rich in life.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Sorry, I got distracted, fell down the side of the couch,
- 0:23Speaker 1: fingering the couch and I was like, oh, I didn't
- 0:25Speaker 1: mean to I'm so sorry. Anyway, how are you.
- 0:27Speaker 2: I'm good? Been a good week.
- 0:29Speaker 1: Yeah, this week was a short week, like it was
- 0:31Speaker 1: long weekend week. But I'm not gonna lie. I didn't
- 0:34Speaker 1: get that vibe from this week. I'm not sitting here
- 0:36Speaker 1: going time loss fell like before week. Yeah, it felt
- 0:41Speaker 1: like a full week, which scares me because when we
- 0:44Speaker 1: go into May and we're going back to a five
- 0:46Speaker 1: day I'm gonna be a husk. Yeah, but it's because
- 0:49Speaker 1: you're trying to jam five days of work into four days.
- 0:51Speaker 2: So maybe it'll actually be all right.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly exactly. But today we have a very very
- 0:58Speaker 1: fun If you've got kids in the care little ones
- 1:04Speaker 1: in the car, little ones in the car, you made
- 1:06Speaker 1: want to close your earls. Hasbrey this one because we
- 1:08Speaker 1: are you talking at fuck you funds, Fuck your fuck
- 1:14Speaker 1: your fuck your fund, fuck your mom. No, oh, maybe
- 1:19Speaker 1: I've never seen your mom. Maybe it would.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 1:25Speaker 1: I reckon. Objectively, there are way more hotter moms in
- 1:29Speaker 1: the world than there are hotter dads. Definitely, women are
- 1:33Speaker 1: like objectively better looking than men.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I think so.
- 1:37Speaker 1: I think that's just the bisexual in me. But I'm
- 1:40Speaker 1: like I could list off like ten hot mums like
- 1:44Speaker 1: right now, fully, whereas like god.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Dads, there are half of them are cartoons.
- 1:49Speaker 1: Yeah, animals, cartoon animals. I feel like that clarification is necessary.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Everyone thought of mofoss me like Zeus, Yeah, you know
- 2:01Speaker 2: King Triton.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Tarzan's dad, Tarzan's dad could.
- 2:08Speaker 2: He is a POI?
- 2:10Speaker 1: His mom was really beautiful to him. Yeah, I get that,
- 2:13Speaker 1: but I would like to I'd like to watch. Yeah,
- 2:17Speaker 1: I was gonna be like I would like to be included.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Ye, a cup of chair on that boat?
- 2:26Speaker 1: Fuck sala. Who else are some hot Disney dads I
- 2:32Speaker 1: like Fassa, yep, Zeus, Tarzan's dad, King Triton.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Oh how could we forget that daddy?
- 2:39Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 2:41Speaker 2: Who else?
- 2:42Speaker 1: What else is there that's not But also all of
- 2:47Speaker 1: the mom's babes like sleeping Beauty's mum smash Yep, Sarabi.
- 2:55Speaker 2: Could get it, could get Sarabi.
- 2:58Speaker 1: Would make me her bitch like is like a dominatrix mummy.
- 3:04Speaker 1: She'd be like, get down in the ease of it. Yes,
- 3:06Speaker 1: Sir is the hottest of the Disney Daddy fucking whipped
- 3:11Speaker 1: Moufassa into shape. Okay, move Ussa was literally crawling for
- 3:17Speaker 1: anyway to begin into the fucking fun and lots of fun. Literally. Yeah.
- 3:27Speaker 1: But before we do that, we have to talk about
- 3:28Speaker 1: our obsessions. The we tell me, tell me.
- 3:34Speaker 2: Mane.
- 3:35Speaker 1: My obsession of the week is a joint obsession, and
- 3:38Speaker 1: it is Love on the Spectrum Season four. Oh my god,
- 3:40Speaker 1: I love this show so freaking much. It is maybe
- 3:42Speaker 1: the best show on Netflix. Like this show could heal
- 3:46Speaker 1: the world. It really really could, especially in like pretty
- 3:49Speaker 1: dark times. It honestly gives me so much hope for humanity.
- 3:52Speaker 1: It is the most beautiful, beautiful shaking of hot dads
- 3:57Speaker 1: names his dad.
- 3:59Speaker 2: Oh he's break wait no, oh wait, no, so I'm
- 4:03Speaker 2: thinking of Connor.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Yes, I saw a TikTok last night being like he
- 4:07Speaker 1: could get it?
- 4:08Speaker 2: Is that the TikTok? Did you make it? I did
- 4:13Speaker 2: see that, and I hadn't.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Actually caught the energy in the show, and then I
- 4:17Speaker 1: saw TikTok that I was like, would be weird.
- 4:21Speaker 2: But yeah, seriously love him.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Love that show though. It's just so beautiful, and I
- 4:27Speaker 1: think it's like a really beautiful reminder of like how
- 4:32Speaker 1: everyone is just human and just wants to like love
- 4:36Speaker 1: and be loved, you know, as like two very very
- 4:42Speaker 1: privileged women like I see here and I go, fuck
- 4:44Speaker 1: like the things that I'm winging about in the grand
- 4:49Speaker 1: scheme of things, you get a pretty good gear. Yeah, exactly.
- 4:54Speaker 1: And there's so much to learn from them too, and
- 4:56Speaker 1: like just how earnest a lot of the cast bizarre
- 5:00Speaker 1: and they're just all so sweet and beautiful. And it's
- 5:03Speaker 1: also incredible because a few of the cast members have
- 5:06Speaker 1: been on the show like the whole for every single season,
- 5:09Speaker 1: and when you think back of like where they began
- 5:11Speaker 1: and how much they've grown, it's just fucking incredible and
- 5:15Speaker 1: how they're all like friends and stuff.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Did you see that Connor isn't going to be on
- 5:19Speaker 2: the next season though, He's passing the baton on to
- 5:22Speaker 2: somebody else to find. I think that makes.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Sense though, because as well, even when you think about
- 5:28Speaker 1: dating like you go through ebbs and flows for dating, right.
- 5:32Speaker 1: I thought it actually just was very reflective of just
- 5:34Speaker 1: life of like even Tanner how at the end he
- 5:38Speaker 1: was like, Oh, I'm not on the show because I
- 5:39Speaker 1: don't want a girlfriend right now. Yeah. So it's like
- 5:41Speaker 1: and Connor's like, yeah, I'm just not really looking to
- 5:44Speaker 1: continue dating at the moment. So it's like yeah, fair,
- 5:47Speaker 1: yeah exactly, And like maybe what they wanted to get
- 5:49Speaker 1: from the show, which was like that support and the tips,
- 5:52Speaker 1: like they've got those tools now they can go out
- 5:55Speaker 1: on their own and yeah, use what they've learned.
- 5:57Speaker 2: It's just the fucking best show.
- 5:59Speaker 1: It's the best show.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Crying one second, you'll be pissing yourself.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Like every episode. Same, It's so beautiful. Okay, My obsession
- 6:07Speaker 1: of the week is inspired and is the question inspired
- 6:11Speaker 1: by a tiki TALKI that I saw this morning and
- 6:14Speaker 1: it was at what age do you stop fake? Tanning?
- 6:18Speaker 2: I saw this morning too.
- 6:19Speaker 1: This is an investigative piece now, so I was like, well, fuck,
- 6:24Speaker 1: am I going to be like when do when do
- 6:27Speaker 1: you just go? Eh? I'm done? So I figured we
- 6:32Speaker 1: could maybe discuss and I could we could investigate in
- 6:35Speaker 1: the comments.
- 6:36Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, yeah, because one thing, I'm like, do you
- 6:41Speaker 2: just get over it?
- 6:42Speaker 1: Yeah? At some point you're just like, fuck, like, is
- 6:44Speaker 1: this going to be every Thursday for the rest of
- 6:46Speaker 1: my life? Well? I think you would get especially when
- 6:49Speaker 1: you have kids. When you have young children, I couldn't imagine, like,
- 6:54Speaker 1: you know, it's so tiring being fucking asked to exfoliate
- 6:58Speaker 1: my body. Also, from like a physics level chemistry, perhaps,
- 7:05Speaker 1: I'm like, does it settle into your wrinkles? Because even
- 7:09Speaker 1: I would notice that, say, like on my hands for example,
- 7:12Speaker 1: like the wrinkles on your knuckles and stuff. I'm like,
- 7:15Speaker 1: would that be kind of like across your whole body?
- 7:17Speaker 1: Like I would love to know who is like that
- 7:21Speaker 1: the most mature slash oldest person the chicks know in
- 7:24Speaker 1: their life that's still fakes teens? Fakes teens?
- 7:27Speaker 2: Does your mum faked tan?
- 7:28Speaker 1: Ever?
- 7:29Speaker 2: Surely Chris jen is out there getting straighten.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Surely, surely. But what age like do we like? I
- 7:36Speaker 1: don't care about what age we stop having sex. I
- 7:38Speaker 1: care about what age we stop fakedanny.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Apparently people are like getting dicked down in nursing home. Yes, so.
- 7:46Speaker 1: Love that for them. You're the same.
- 7:48Speaker 2: Yeah, they call it like a second second wind.
- 7:51Speaker 1: Yeah, but we can do a whole episode on this
- 7:54Speaker 1: because I thought that women also got like a second
- 7:57Speaker 1: wind in like like their sexual thought in the board. Yeah,
- 8:00Speaker 1: I've seen, but then that's because a lot of women
- 8:02Speaker 1: get divorced in their forties later I'm gonna go fuck
- 8:10Speaker 1: fuck And speaking of doors, I think that's a lovely
- 8:12Speaker 1: segue into episode the Fuck You Fund? So what is
- 8:19Speaker 1: the fuck You Fund? So it's a collection of savings
- 8:23Speaker 1: to essentially give you financial independence, and you get to
- 8:28Speaker 1: be able to walk away from anything that you're like,
- 8:30Speaker 1: fuck you. So whether it's you want to leave an
- 8:34Speaker 1: unhealthy situation or relationship, whether you want to walk away
- 8:37Speaker 1: from a job that you hate, it just allows you
- 8:41Speaker 1: to say fuck this and start fresh. And it can
- 8:46Speaker 1: also be called an escape or revenge fund. Love that.
- 8:51Speaker 2: Do you ever watch that show revenge?
- 8:53Speaker 1: Revenge? You've never even heard of the show Revenge? Okay,
- 8:58Speaker 1: well let's put a pin in that. I'll dicuss that, like,
- 9:00Speaker 1: oh what is it? Oh my god. There's this chick
- 9:04Speaker 1: and her dad gets like done but framed by this
- 9:08Speaker 1: like rich family. So then she grows up and grows
- 9:12Speaker 1: up hot and sexy, and then she starts fucking the
- 9:15Speaker 1: mum's son and like goes after the family and is
- 9:18Speaker 1: like the daughter in law, but she's really here for revenge. Well,
- 9:23Speaker 1: so you could use your revenge fund for that true
- 9:26Speaker 1: want it? Yeah, if you want it, because she bought
- 9:28Speaker 1: a house in the hympt and so you know it's
- 9:30Speaker 1: how you want to do it. We endorse using your
- 9:34Speaker 1: powers for good, but if you want to use your
- 9:35Speaker 1: fucking fund for evil, go for it. Who are we
- 9:38Speaker 1: to judge? It got a bit weird toward the end
- 9:40Speaker 1: of the season, I can imagine, Yeah it was, and
- 9:42Speaker 1: I was like, come on, we're stretching this out when
- 9:43Speaker 1: she's gonna actually have a revenge all right. So this
- 9:48Speaker 1: is not the same as an emergency fund. Emergency funds
- 9:51Speaker 1: are typically kept away for when something goes wrong or
- 9:56Speaker 1: is like unforeseen, So it's more like you don't actually
- 9:59Speaker 1: have contry froll over that situation. So it's like if
- 10:02Speaker 1: your cargoes cut bye bye, Yeah, sorry my lady we
- 10:07Speaker 1: out here. Yeah, or like you lose your job or something, yeah,
- 10:10Speaker 1: cover like your essential expenses. You get like a parking
- 10:13Speaker 1: fine and you're like, oh damn, man, I read that
- 10:15Speaker 1: sign wrong, but honestly, who can read the signs? Right? No? Please? Yeah?
- 10:19Speaker 1: And what I loved about this is and you would
- 10:21Speaker 1: love this is that Lucy Lou helped make the term
- 10:25Speaker 1: more popular. So Lucy Lou if you're unfamiliar, she was
- 10:28Speaker 1: one of the Queens and Charlie's angels.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Mm hmm, she's.
- 10:31Speaker 1: All Alex yes me yeah. Des I.
- 10:37Speaker 2: Is ia iconic queen actress.
- 10:39Speaker 1: Seriously. Oh, she's so hot in that movie it's not
- 10:42Speaker 1: even funny.
- 10:42Speaker 2: Yeah, gorge.
- 10:44Speaker 1: So she kind of made the term more popular when
- 10:46Speaker 1: she talked about fuck your money in an interview and said,
- 10:49Speaker 1: if you have it and something's not working out and
- 10:52Speaker 1: they say you have to take this job or you're fired,
- 10:54Speaker 1: you can be like fuck you.
- 10:57Speaker 2: It's basically about.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Having flexibility and the freedom to leave situations yes that
- 11:03Speaker 1: you don't want to be in anymore one hundred percent.
- 11:06Speaker 1: And that is so often, especially for women, like a
- 11:11Speaker 1: corner that you get boxed into because you're like, oh,
- 11:14Speaker 1: I have I have to go? Yeah? Is you know
- 11:18Speaker 1: I can't if not to get paid or you know,
- 11:21Speaker 1: I have to say this relationship because I haven't been
- 11:23Speaker 1: working and I've been raising children and they don't have
- 11:26Speaker 1: any money or whatever that looks like for you. And
- 11:29Speaker 1: according to a UK psychotherapist Katherine Cavallo, these savings are
- 11:34Speaker 1: all about having the flexibility and autonomy to be both
- 11:37Speaker 1: emotionally and financially free, especially for millennials and gen Z.
- 11:42Speaker 1: I also want to acknowledge that a lot of people
- 11:45Speaker 1: would find the idea of a fuck you fun as
- 11:47Speaker 1: like a really far off concept, right, because it's really.
- 11:50Speaker 2: Hard to save money in general.
- 11:53Speaker 1: But that's the point, and that's why we wanted to
- 11:55Speaker 1: talk about it, because forty three percent of Australians have
- 11:59Speaker 1: less than a third dollars in their savings. So if
- 12:02Speaker 1: you're listening to this episode and you're like, you know,
- 12:05Speaker 1: I would love to leave my job, but you know
- 12:07Speaker 1: I only love a fuck you fan. Yeah, but I'm
- 12:09Speaker 1: only at the beginning of my savings journey or I'm
- 12:12Speaker 1: finding it really difficult. Like that is so relatable and
- 12:16Speaker 1: so normal, and that's why we wanted to talk about it,
- 12:18Speaker 1: because it's one of those things that you probably don't
- 12:21Speaker 1: actually prepare for and even think of until you.
- 12:24Speaker 2: Actually need it.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Yeah, And you never go into a relationship or a
- 12:27Speaker 1: job or a situation being like I'm gonna need to
- 12:30Speaker 1: have a fuck you fund and leave this one day.
- 12:33Speaker 2: But that's kind of the point. It's there as a buffer.
- 12:37Speaker 1: In those moments when you like life throws unexpected things
- 12:40Speaker 1: at you. Yeah, And it's like, even like we've spoken
- 12:46Speaker 1: about this a lot on the pod, but like I
- 12:48Speaker 1: did not have savings until a couple of years ago,
- 12:51Speaker 1: and even now, like there was a big expense that
- 12:54Speaker 1: was like, oh, maybe we do, maybe we don't in
- 12:56Speaker 1: terms of like an investment that Rob and I were discussing,
- 12:59Speaker 1: but it would have been my entire savings. And I
- 13:03Speaker 1: was like, really, I was so surprised at how comfortable
- 13:10Speaker 1: and less anxious I have become once creating a fuck
- 13:16Speaker 1: you fund or like just having my comfort blanket that
- 13:21Speaker 1: it's like I actually was like, no, I'm actually not
- 13:24Speaker 1: okay with not having that because it was more important
- 13:27Speaker 1: for me to have a fuck you fund than to
- 13:30Speaker 1: invest it into something for the future, because I was like,
- 13:32Speaker 1: I'm not I don't want to drain that. I still
- 13:34Speaker 1: always need to have that comfort there whereas And it
- 13:38Speaker 1: made reminded me of, you know, the anxiety I had
- 13:41Speaker 1: when I was younger and I was maybe a little
- 13:43Speaker 1: bit more reckless with my bad girl. I went on
- 13:49Speaker 1: to get ahead of Disney, and I said, I want
- 13:51Speaker 1: to make history.
- 13:53Speaker 2: And you just spent all your money at Prince's.
- 13:56Speaker 1: And I spent all my money at Princess VALI that
- 13:58Speaker 1: was history. That was history for me. I went on
- 14:01Speaker 1: there the other day just for fun, and I'm thirty
- 14:04Speaker 1: and I felt that yeah, yeah, I'm saying I didn't
- 14:10Speaker 1: like anything, but I went this is when it happened.
- 14:14Speaker 2: Maybe we've aged out of that. I then started.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Realizing, like shit, I'm out hit shopping at DJs and
- 14:21Speaker 1: Mayer and Country Rise Seed beautiful, and I'm like, oh shit,
- 14:26Speaker 1: ha happened. I didn't even see it. That's all right. Well,
- 14:29Speaker 1: like a butterfly in the wind, exactly of flight, like
- 14:35Speaker 1: a beavers thinking, Like having a fuck you fund is
- 14:38Speaker 1: especially important for women because men have twenty six percent
- 14:41Speaker 1: more savings on average than women. And we did a
- 14:45Speaker 1: whole episode on this, which we can link in the
- 14:48Speaker 1: show notes about the pink tacks and yeah, how to
- 14:51Speaker 1: overcome it. But again that's why we wanted to talk
- 14:54Speaker 1: about it, because women do have fewer opportunities to earn
- 14:59Speaker 1: more mo need than men and have more obstacles when
- 15:03Speaker 1: it comes to saving money, and a lot of the time,
- 15:06Speaker 1: like in my life and the people that you know,
- 15:09Speaker 1: the experiences that I've seen, like a lot of the time,
- 15:12Speaker 1: it is the woman who has to stay and put
- 15:15Speaker 1: up with shiit situations because they're sort of like stuck
- 15:17Speaker 1: between a rock and a hard place.
- 15:19Speaker 2: And we don't want that for our tikies out there.
- 15:21Speaker 1: That's not the type of rock hard we want. There's
- 15:25Speaker 1: only one type of rock hard, one rock card that
- 15:28Speaker 1: you deserve in your life, Queenie poo, and it is
- 15:31Speaker 1: not being between it.
- 15:35Speaker 2: Sorry, it's fine, It's fine. Okay.
- 15:38Speaker 1: It was the king, try it and talk it got titilated?
- 15:48Speaker 2: Did that hurt a little far?
- 15:51Speaker 1: Okay? So I hear I hear you for I see
- 15:55Speaker 1: you and you're going Alex Sally, I love this. This
- 16:01Speaker 1: is the best episode of the podcast I've ever listened
- 16:04Speaker 1: to so far until next one. How do I build
- 16:08Speaker 1: a fuck you fund? Why do I say it like that?
- 16:11Speaker 1: Why do I say with such conviction? I literally is like,
- 16:14Speaker 1: fuck you fund? Like Jesus, Alex, no one you hate
- 16:18Speaker 1: us in the room. Maybe, Oh my god, scandal, I'm kidding,
- 16:22Speaker 1: Lo love it here so tips to build a fuck
- 16:25Speaker 1: you fund. The journalist and financial advisor Francis Cook actually
- 16:30Speaker 1: shared tiers of the fuck You Fund. Number one is
- 16:33Speaker 1: breathing space money, which accounts for three months worth of
- 16:37Speaker 1: core expenses eg. Rent, mortgage, groceries, basic utility bills, petrol.
- 16:42Speaker 1: It's the easy way to calculate this is to add
- 16:45Speaker 1: up your non negotiable spending each month and multiply it
- 16:48Speaker 1: by three. So if your non negotiable spending per month
- 16:51Speaker 1: was two thousand dollars, your breathing space would be six thousand.
- 16:57Speaker 1: Number two is recover and refresh, so around six months
- 17:01Speaker 1: of salary used to clear your head and recharge. So
- 17:04Speaker 1: this gives you space and time to plan your next steps.
- 17:07Speaker 1: Can sity your next move, and you have the freedom
- 17:09Speaker 1: to choose what your next step is. So a good
- 17:12Speaker 1: example of this would be, you know, if you are
- 17:16Speaker 1: at work and you're like, you know what, I'm going
- 17:18Speaker 1: to kick your door if it's hinges, I hate everyone
- 17:21Speaker 1: in this office. I'm done and you don't have to
- 17:24Speaker 1: sit there applying for twenty jobs in a row and
- 17:28Speaker 1: you get a call and they go, oh, you applied
- 17:30Speaker 1: for the role and you're like which one? Yeah, Literally
- 17:33Speaker 1: in there.
- 17:33Speaker 2: You have to try and like squeeze in your interview
- 17:35Speaker 2: on your lunch break.
- 17:36Speaker 1: Yeah, that you can actually quit your job and give
- 17:38Speaker 1: yourself space to find the one that's right and next
- 17:42Speaker 1: for you without having to sit in an office chair
- 17:46Speaker 1: with hospital lighting being like, what's happened to me? What's
- 17:51Speaker 1: happened to my law? Yeah? Yeah, I have a friend
- 17:54Speaker 1: at the moment that's like in that scenario, and she
- 17:56Speaker 1: hasn't worked for like two months, and she's just it's like, yeah,
- 18:00Speaker 1: you know, saved up before I quit, and I'm just
- 18:02Speaker 1: waiting to find the right thing. Yeah. It also means
- 18:05Speaker 1: when you do find the right job, you're actually refreshed
- 18:08Speaker 1: and ready to take on the role. Like it's so
- 18:11Speaker 1: hard when you're in a toxic work situation and you're
- 18:14Speaker 1: very highly likely burnt out. Yeah, and then going through
- 18:17Speaker 1: the whole interview and application process is also so stressful
- 18:22Speaker 1: and time consuming, and then you have like maybe four
- 18:26Speaker 1: business days off and then you start a new job again.
- 18:28Speaker 1: Number three is I might go back to work when
- 18:31Speaker 1: I'm bored. Money and investment portfolio in these six figures,
- 18:36Speaker 1: adding up to two years of salary so you could
- 18:39Speaker 1: have enough to fund a mini retirement. With this amount,
- 18:43Speaker 1: you could take a few years out of the workforce
- 18:45Speaker 1: without giving up too much of your lifestyle and spending habits,
- 18:48Speaker 1: then re enter your professional career on your own terms.
- 18:52Speaker 1: And then, last, but not least is my personal favorite,
- 18:56Speaker 1: if you will, this is the goal, the goal any
- 18:59Speaker 1: any fuck you've I was gonna se any holes goal,
- 19:01Speaker 1: but it doesn't know it make sense. Number four is you're
- 19:04Speaker 1: never telling me what to do money. Put that shit
- 19:08Speaker 1: on a ship. Taste good. This is around one million
- 19:13Speaker 1: dollars worth of investments savings. It's true financial independence. It's
- 19:21Speaker 1: the moment you can walk away and live purely off
- 19:24Speaker 1: your passive income. It's like those have you heard of
- 19:30Speaker 1: that movement called fire not fire festival?
- 19:34Speaker 2: Financial independence, retire early. Sorry, I don't know why I
- 19:39Speaker 2: thought of that. It's twenty sixteen. Take me so back.
- 19:44Speaker 1: Sixteen is so bad. Let's bring fire back.
- 19:47Speaker 2: I thought they dry. Really they tried to do you
- 19:51Speaker 2: ever watch the doco na?
- 19:53Speaker 1: I just saw all the Oh no, maybe I did,
- 19:55Speaker 1: and that guy was like offering to suck dick and
- 19:57Speaker 1: cock to pay on.
- 20:00Speaker 2: But yeah, the fire movement, yep.
- 20:03Speaker 1: Financial independence retire early, and it's these people who spend
- 20:07Speaker 1: like their entire twenties and thirtyears just like really really saving,
- 20:12Speaker 1: focusing on investing with the goal typically to retire in
- 20:16Speaker 1: their forties. And a good way to do this as
- 20:19Speaker 1: well if you kind of sit there and maybe you're
- 20:21Speaker 1: like a little bit cheeky when you manage your money,
- 20:25Speaker 1: or you just kind of get to the end of
- 20:27Speaker 1: the month and you're like, where the fuck did my money?
- 20:29Speaker 1: You is and you taught me about this, but it's
- 20:31Speaker 1: salary sacrificing. Oh yeah, So like if you don't really
- 20:35Speaker 1: want to do investing because it makes you nervous, it's
- 20:37Speaker 1: not really your vibe if you aren't you know, the
- 20:40Speaker 1: strongest saver yet emphasis on that you can actually look
- 20:44Speaker 1: at salary sacrificing, which you know more about this than
- 20:47Speaker 1: I do. So a lot of people do this who
- 20:50Speaker 1: are like employed full time. But you can ask your
- 20:54Speaker 1: employer to actually put more of your salary into your
- 20:57Speaker 1: superannuation because most people, like workplaces.
- 21:03Speaker 2: Will be putting the money into the super for them.
- 21:05Speaker 1: Yeah, and they do like the minimum. Yeah, you can
- 21:07Speaker 1: do more than that, and it means that before the
- 21:10Speaker 1: money even lands in your account, they put more of it. Yeah,
- 21:14Speaker 1: super when your parents would My mom would do this
- 21:18Speaker 1: to me. She would be like, okay, well how much
- 21:20Speaker 1: money did you make? And then it would go into
- 21:22Speaker 1: an account and then she would pay me from myself.
- 21:26Speaker 1: This is someone I was like fourteen and started working,
- 21:29Speaker 1: not when I was like ag she'd be like, here's
- 21:31Speaker 1: your penny.
- 21:31Speaker 2: She still does it.
- 21:32Speaker 1: Yeah, wish bro. I'd have so much more in savings
- 21:35Speaker 1: if she did. But yeah, and so she would like,
- 21:39Speaker 1: get my pay and then pay me and she'd put
- 21:42Speaker 1: the rest of it in savings. And if I ever
- 21:44Speaker 1: wanted to access the savings, I'd have to call my
- 21:46Speaker 1: mom and be like, I'm like justifying. Yeah, I'd be like,
- 21:49Speaker 1: I want to buy this pair of shock blue jeans.
- 21:52Speaker 1: I remember I was in Cottinam and I called her
- 21:55Speaker 1: and I was like Rouse Hill shopping Center and she
- 21:58Speaker 1: said no, and I said it's my money. She said, well,
- 22:00Speaker 1: too bad, hung up the phone. And I ended up
- 22:04Speaker 1: being able to buy a car when I was eighteen
- 22:07Speaker 1: because she'd done that. So I'm like, that's how I
- 22:11Speaker 1: look at salary. Sacrificing your work is then your mum
- 22:13Speaker 1: and you want to buy blue jeans and they say no,
- 22:16Speaker 1: it's going in your super. Yeah, because the benefit is
- 22:20Speaker 1: that you don't have the temptation to spend it because
- 22:22Speaker 1: it never lands in your spending account. And then also
- 22:26Speaker 1: obviously you're putting more money into your super. But then
- 22:29Speaker 1: also you get the benefits of the compound interest over
- 22:31Speaker 1: time too, So I definitely recommend that if. Yeah, and
- 22:36Speaker 1: also I'm not one hundred percent sure on this, so
- 22:38Speaker 1: I would look into it, but I think like the
- 22:40Speaker 1: tax on it is a different structure as well. I
- 22:45Speaker 1: don't know if you're taxed the same on your super
- 22:50Speaker 1: as your actual salary. Yeah, Okay, Yeah, we'd have to
- 22:54Speaker 1: look into that because I'm not one hundred percent sure
- 22:56Speaker 1: on it. I don't want to be spread and missed
- 22:57Speaker 1: them for me exactly.
- 22:58Speaker 2: We can put a link to the ATO guide.
- 23:01Speaker 1: Yes on salary sacrifice all Larissa, it's your sief with
- 23:05Speaker 1: the fuck you fund.
- 23:06Speaker 2: Really, you could probably shape it or tear it in
- 23:09Speaker 2: whatever way you want and what suits your goals.
- 23:11Speaker 1: But I like this approach because it shows you that
- 23:14Speaker 1: there isn't like a one size fiddle, and that it
- 23:16Speaker 1: is something that can be ongoing and can change as your.
- 23:20Speaker 2: Needs do and as life happens.
- 23:22Speaker 1: But if you are inspired and you want to get
- 23:25Speaker 1: started in building your fuck you Fund, there's a few
- 23:28Speaker 1: ways that you can start.
- 23:30Speaker 2: The first app would be working out how much you
- 23:32Speaker 2: can consistently save, right so factor.
- 23:35Speaker 1: In your monetary goals and responsibilities, any debts that you're
- 23:39Speaker 1: paying off are the savings goals that you have, obviously
- 23:43Speaker 1: your expenses, and then decide what to prioritize from there.
- 23:48Speaker 1: Like that's what I did when I first started. I
- 23:50Speaker 1: kind of just had like all of my expenses listed out,
- 23:54Speaker 1: and then I was like.
- 23:55Speaker 2: How much money do I have leftover? And then that
- 23:58Speaker 2: was just the amount that I put in.
- 24:00Speaker 1: And it really is like once you start doing it,
- 24:02Speaker 1: you realize like firstly how good it feels when you
- 24:06Speaker 1: see that number stuff start to grow, but also how
- 24:09Speaker 1: much extra money that you actually do probably have that
- 24:11Speaker 1: you could be putting towards that and not blue jeans
- 24:14Speaker 1: that cottnot or cotton on. But also I think one
- 24:19Speaker 1: of the best things that I did when creating savings
- 24:22Speaker 1: like you could do with a fuck you fund is
- 24:25Speaker 1: for me, it's like an out of sight, out of
- 24:27Speaker 1: mind approach as well that I actually set up a
- 24:30Speaker 1: completely separate bank account that was with a completely separate
- 24:34Speaker 1: bank that like I could not tell you what my
- 24:38Speaker 1: customer IDNA, but was off the top of my head.
- 24:41Speaker 1: And so it was like if like I couldn't just
- 24:44Speaker 1: freely access it. And so when I'm also not logging
- 24:48Speaker 1: into my banking app, when I'm buying a vodka Limb
- 24:50Speaker 1: soda and seeing that money in a separate account, it's
- 24:52Speaker 1: not easy for me to transfer it back. So creating
- 24:56Speaker 1: friction in your fuck you fund will also help you
- 24:59Speaker 1: grow it. Creating friction in anything to do with money
- 25:02Speaker 1: also just like creates a better structure because you're not
- 25:06Speaker 1: just like WI, this is a game and it's like
- 25:08Speaker 1: numbers on a screen. No, it's actually guys, it's actually money.
- 25:13Speaker 2: I know, how rude is that?
- 25:14Speaker 1: I know? What do you mean? This isn't just like
- 25:16Speaker 1: a fun Little girlipop game? Yeah? What do you mean?
- 25:19Speaker 1: I don't just like go for a run around the
- 25:21Speaker 1: block and pick up coins in a videotape.
- 25:23Speaker 2: It's not just Mario gard Seriously, if you have.
- 25:26Speaker 1: No expendable income right now, you're not alone. That's a
- 25:29Speaker 1: very very common situation, but you can look for creative
- 25:33Speaker 1: ways to free up cash. So you can use that
- 25:36Speaker 1: hour's worked rule from a former investment back i turned
- 25:39Speaker 1: content creator Niche Shah, before purchasing an item, calculates how
- 25:43Speaker 1: many hours of work that she'd be trading to afford it. So,
- 25:48Speaker 1: if you wanted a new pair of sneakers that cost
- 25:50Speaker 1: one hundred dollars when you're earning twenty dollars an hour,
- 25:53Speaker 1: that would cost you five hours of work, yep, you know.
- 25:57Speaker 1: And if that's your fifth pair of shoes, you'd probably
- 26:00Speaker 1: be trading twenty five hours of work. Yeah, which I'm like,
- 26:04Speaker 1: that would probably help for like when we're all crumbling
- 26:07Speaker 1: and buying like seventy colored shades of the addedor sombers.
- 26:12Speaker 2: We were all there, We're all there. Yeah, you were there. Yeah,
- 26:15Speaker 2: you were there, you were there.
- 26:17Speaker 1: M's mullins. She was there.
- 26:18Speaker 2: She was there, honestly.
- 26:21Speaker 1: And also kind of like what you were saying. But
- 26:23Speaker 1: momentum matters, Like the more you keep your promise to
- 26:26Speaker 1: yourself with saving and building a fuck you fund and
- 26:29Speaker 1: building that empowerment for yourself, the better you will get
- 26:33Speaker 1: at it. Like money is a muscle, and the more
- 26:36Speaker 1: that you exercise it, the stronger you will be at it.
- 26:39Speaker 1: And I definitely think like I EBB and flow in
- 26:45Speaker 1: it absolutely, like you don't just flip the switch and
- 26:48Speaker 1: you're like, I'm good with money now, Like if I
- 26:51Speaker 1: check my budget and do my budget that week, I'm
- 26:53Speaker 1: so much stronger with it. If I don't do my
- 26:55Speaker 1: budget that week, I'm like Lee, and you get a
- 26:59Speaker 1: coffee and I have Subway for lunch, and I like
- 27:01Speaker 1: those shoes, Like it's so much more. I'll be like, oh,
- 27:05Speaker 1: fuck it yeah, Like, oh, I don't know, it's a.
- 27:08Speaker 2: Fuck it fun, it's you fun.
- 27:10Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what we need to do. The Yes, that's
- 27:14Speaker 1: what we need to do, the rebrand. But when it
- 27:16Speaker 1: comes to your fuck you fun or any money managing strategy,
- 27:21Speaker 1: it's really about momentum over perfection, because, like you said,
- 27:25Speaker 1: the more that you do it, it's like a muxle.
- 27:26Speaker 2: You get better at it. But also like shit's gonna happen,
- 27:30Speaker 2: and like.
- 27:31Speaker 1: Shit happens, Shit happens.
- 27:35Speaker 2: Man, it's gurty, it's kurty, it's just girty, just girty.
- 27:39Speaker 1: Man, Cody is here, I can feel it. Yeah, But seriously,
- 27:45Speaker 1: like shit is gonna happen, You're gonna see something shiny
- 27:48Speaker 1: and spend money on it or you know, like the car.
- 27:51Speaker 2: So that's fine, and that's fine. Yeah, but I think
- 27:53Speaker 2: that's the thing.
- 27:54Speaker 1: Like when I was first, like starting with my savings,
- 27:58Speaker 1: I had like a strict goal of how much I
- 27:59Speaker 1: wanted to put away every month when I got paid.
- 28:03Speaker 1: But then some months I'd be like, I can't afford
- 28:05Speaker 1: that this month, or like I want to go to
- 28:06Speaker 1: Splendor in the Grass, So like, instead, this month, I'll
- 28:09Speaker 1: still put money in my savings, but it's going to
- 28:11Speaker 1: be a little less than last month. We can also
- 28:13Speaker 1: add that to the list of things my mom didn't
- 28:15Speaker 1: let me spend my savings on. I don't know what
- 28:18Speaker 1: seventeen take me back. He was playing I Want to
- 28:20Speaker 1: Sam Smith and she said, I said, Mama, want to
- 28:25Speaker 1: go to splend the Grass And all my friends were gone,
- 28:27Speaker 1: didn't have that many And she said, do you know
- 28:30Speaker 1: what splendor in the Grass? Mate said, no, what does
- 28:33Speaker 1: it mean? Mum? She could take me off behind shedd
- 28:35Speaker 1: and have your way with me.
- 28:36Speaker 2: You're not going that sounds great?
- 28:40Speaker 1: Little did she know I'm kidding.
- 28:45Speaker 2: Trains already left the station.
- 28:48Speaker 1: Well, doo, late, mother, maybe the train is less stasion,
- 28:52Speaker 1: but make it the v train.
- 28:54Speaker 3: Yeah shit, anyway, innuendos, innuendos, I could say that was anything.
- 29:05Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. Can't frame me. You don't know me.
- 29:08Speaker 1: I wasn't there. I have an alibi, so yeah, I
- 29:11Speaker 1: didn't get to go. And it was a really good
- 29:12Speaker 1: line up that year.
- 29:13Speaker 2: Wow, twenty fourteen, What a year?
- 29:14Speaker 1: What a year? Well, yeah, there we go, there we go.
- 29:18Speaker 2: That is a rap.
- 29:20Speaker 1: But I would also love for you chicks to comment
- 29:22Speaker 1: below how you contribute to your fuck you fund each month.
- 29:27Speaker 1: Give us some little creative saving tips.
- 29:29Speaker 2: Yeah, please.
- 29:32Speaker 1: Your tips. Well that's a rap for today's episode of
- 29:36Speaker 1: Two Broke Chicks or Two Hot Daddies.
- 29:39Speaker 2: Why two hot cartoon dads?
- 29:42Speaker 1: Hot a cartoon lion and the cartoon fish walk in
- 29:45Speaker 1: through a ball? Oh yeah?
- 29:48Speaker 2: Would you fuck with nemostdad Marlin?
- 29:53Speaker 1: No, but.
- 29:58Speaker 2: And we can wrap the episode there.
- 30:00Speaker 1: Thanks you.
- 30:00Speaker 2: Chee's having us so he was wait what's his name? Okay?
- 30:04Speaker 1: Three to one, Gil, thanks for having us at your house.
