- 0:00Speaker 1: Mark Simone. R Well, Ronda, you know she's back with
- 0:08Speaker 1: the up all night. It's better than ever. And of
- 0:11Speaker 1: course Ronda shere the fashion Queen, Fashion Empire. You go
- 0:14Speaker 1: to rhondasher dot com and of course follow on Instagram
- 0:18Speaker 1: and the Twitter and all of that. Rhonda shear, how
- 0:21Speaker 1: you doing.
- 0:22Speaker 2: I am disturbed, but I'm I'm really fine. I'm taking
- 0:26Speaker 2: a little winter vacation in North Carolina right now in
- 0:29Speaker 2: the mountains, so.
- 0:31Speaker 3: Away from the crazy.
- 0:32Speaker 2: But I do have to talk to you about this
- 0:35Speaker 2: whole murder.
- 0:37Speaker 3: It's horrible.
- 0:39Speaker 2: I I really feel like you can't fix a child
- 0:43Speaker 2: like that. And I wonder if a lot of times
- 0:46Speaker 2: that Rob Reiner's distraction and the Trump talk was his
- 0:50Speaker 2: own distraction away from the mental illness and the problems
- 0:53Speaker 2: that that child had from the time he was a child.
- 0:56Speaker 3: Because you know, they.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Threw a lot of money at it, obviously, and they
- 1:00Speaker 2: do what the Hollywood people do and put him in rehab.
- 1:02Speaker 3: There's no fixing him.
- 1:03Speaker 2: If you looked at him in the many many interviews
- 1:08Speaker 2: that he had with his dad, especially when they were
- 1:10Speaker 2: promoting the film Charlie, his eyes darting around and the
- 1:16Speaker 2: way he looked at his father with disdain. I mean,
- 1:18Speaker 2: I think that he was very very jealous of his dad.
- 1:22Speaker 2: He couldn't live up, you know, to his siblings and
- 1:26Speaker 2: or his father's success.
- 1:27Speaker 3: Well, a lot of that happens and the Hollywood.
- 1:29Speaker 2: You've heard a lot of these kids even committing suicide
- 1:32Speaker 2: that couldn't live up to their parents' fame. And I
- 1:34Speaker 2: think that he totally, you know, couldn't live up to it.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Turned to drugs at a very very young age and
- 1:40Speaker 2: addictive personality.
- 1:42Speaker 3: The thing is that parents, and.
- 1:43Speaker 2: I've had this discussion with so many people, you know,
- 1:45Speaker 2: I do a podcast and parents, you know, they see it,
- 1:49Speaker 2: but they don't want to put their kid away. And yeah,
- 1:52Speaker 2: he should have been in a mental institution if they
- 1:54Speaker 2: have any of those anymore, But who's going to admit that.
- 1:58Speaker 2: So they feel like if they kept him close, brought
- 2:00Speaker 2: him to the parties, that's why he was at that
- 2:01Speaker 2: party in a hoodie and bringing him there.
- 2:03Speaker 3: They want him close.
- 2:05Speaker 2: They know they want him close and nearby, and that
- 2:08Speaker 2: that family was a very close knit family. But he
- 2:11Speaker 2: was very damaged, very damaged, and probably very violent.
- 2:15Speaker 3: I have a little bit of that.
- 2:16Speaker 2: I actually have somebody in my own family, not violent,
- 2:19Speaker 2: but similar kind of story that still lives with you know,
- 2:22Speaker 2: actually my brother's son in his forties still lives at
- 2:24Speaker 2: home and has you know, just been very damaged and
- 2:28Speaker 2: there's no fixing it. It's very sad. And what do
- 2:31Speaker 2: you do now? Because he is or those people can
- 2:35Speaker 2: not only hurt themselves and or hurt others. But these
- 2:38Speaker 2: are the people we read about later on the commit
- 2:40Speaker 2: mass murders and shootings or what have you. But this
- 2:43Speaker 2: is just, you know, beyond tragedy. And I looked up
- 2:46Speaker 2: because the curiosity in terms of who the murders of
- 2:50Speaker 2: all the murders of the past in Hollywood, just in murders,
- 2:54Speaker 2: there's no doubt Rob Reiner and his wife Michelle are
- 2:56Speaker 2: the most famous, most iconic of all. I mean, yes,
- 3:00Speaker 2: there was you know, Sharon Tate, you know, going back,
- 3:03Speaker 2: there was a you know, different murders of the years,
- 3:06Speaker 2: but nobody of this. This is this is beyond shocking
- 3:09Speaker 2: and we're going to hear about this for a long
- 3:10Speaker 2: long time. But will it change anything with these kids,
- 3:14Speaker 2: especially kids of Hollywood, not especially, but it should shine
- 3:17Speaker 2: a be light on it, and it won't.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Yeah, but friends of the family say either were They
- 3:22Speaker 1: don't want to describe it or talk about it, but
- 3:23Speaker 1: they said they were earlier violent incidents.
- 3:26Speaker 2: So yeah, well yes all the way. Since I mean
- 3:30Speaker 2: I was reading about the yoga instruction. My mom had
- 3:33Speaker 2: him as a child, going to yoga and she would
- 3:34Speaker 2: teach him acrobatics and and but she could tell even
- 3:38Speaker 2: as a child.
- 3:39Speaker 3: I mean, and let's face it, mental illness.
- 3:41Speaker 2: You know, you can be born with mental illness, you know,
- 3:45Speaker 2: And and then how it manifests of course, then taking
- 3:49Speaker 2: drugs and he was drugged up on he admittedly on
- 3:52Speaker 2: cocaine and heroine. And he had violent incidents at the
- 3:55Speaker 2: house where he crashed his hand for a TV set,
- 3:58Speaker 2: I mean, who and didn't even remember it. So it
- 4:01Speaker 2: is curiousy you brought up the timeline about the hotel
- 4:05Speaker 2: and I had read that, but I thought that was
- 4:06Speaker 2: before the murders. But they say he checked into the
- 4:08Speaker 2: hotel before the murders. So where was the blood? Was
- 4:11Speaker 2: he trying to self harm himself?
- 4:13Speaker 3: That law come out?
- 4:14Speaker 1: Oh? Yeah, yeah, no it was. It was the night
- 4:15Speaker 1: of the party.
- 4:16Speaker 2: It was before the murder, the night of the party.
- 4:18Speaker 2: So was he trying to slit his own resks?
- 4:20Speaker 3: He probably.
- 4:20Speaker 2: I mean, you can't be and you can't we can't
- 4:23Speaker 2: be rationalized or rationalize it because we can't think like him,
- 4:27Speaker 2: because there is no rationalizing, especially if he did end
- 4:29Speaker 2: up during drugs that night and at the party. I'm sure,
- 4:33Speaker 2: I'm sure that went on. They say it went on
- 4:34Speaker 2: the sets and Rob Ronner and his wife were loving, loving,
- 4:38Speaker 2: loving people. In terms of family, I'm not talking about
- 4:41Speaker 2: the politics. I know about all the politics, but you know,
- 4:44Speaker 2: they were loving, kept their kids really close, were great parents.
- 4:48Speaker 3: But what do you do with a son that you.
- 4:50Speaker 2: Know, or daughter or a child that you know? His issues,
- 4:53Speaker 2: but you don't want to believe that he could kill anyone,
- 4:55Speaker 2: to harm himself, and that's why they had him living
- 4:58Speaker 2: there probably or kill you, you know. I mean, it is
- 5:02Speaker 2: it is just very eye opening and and it.
- 5:06Speaker 3: Is partially what's going on.
- 5:07Speaker 2: The drugs have gotten stronger, the video games have gotten
- 5:12Speaker 2: you know, crazier and more violence. I think these kids
- 5:14Speaker 2: these mass shootings, think they're acting out on video games,
- 5:18Speaker 2: you know, Charlie Christ shooter. I really it's just I know,
- 5:21Speaker 2: I'm more serious today, but very deeply disturbed. I did
- 5:24Speaker 2: not know Rob Reiner. I knew everybody. I worked with
- 5:27Speaker 2: Teddy Marshall, I worked with all those people.
- 5:29Speaker 3: I knew his dad.
- 5:30Speaker 2: I mean not well, but I you know, had my
- 5:33Speaker 2: early sitcom h stints out in La like Happy Days.
- 5:36Speaker 2: That was a whole group normally, you know, normally all
- 5:38Speaker 2: those people were really close friends, but it never actually met.
- 5:43Speaker 1: I used to talk to Rob Reiner a lot. Will
- 5:46Speaker 1: you always talk about old comedians and old show business?
- 5:48Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 5:49Speaker 1: Amazing, very warm, warm, yes, love. So how does the
- 5:54Speaker 1: guy that's sweet, that warm, how does it become such
- 5:56Speaker 1: a crazy hate field? You know when it comes to politics.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Well, I can tell you I have one in my
- 6:02Speaker 2: own family. So you talked about this. We all came
- 6:05Speaker 2: from the same family for siblings, and I have an
- 6:07Speaker 2: older brother who writes me the most vitriolic words that
- 6:13Speaker 2: you can't even I mean, tearing, like gut wrenching, knife
- 6:17Speaker 2: turning words about me and my husband. And then my
- 6:19Speaker 2: husband turned me into you know, a Republican and a
- 6:22Speaker 2: trunk fan.
- 6:22Speaker 3: I mean just but that's.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Nothing I mean but the words that come out of
- 6:25Speaker 2: his mouth. And we were my family, oh my gosh,
- 6:29Speaker 2: the most loving, loving family. And I also think though
- 6:32Speaker 2: my brother's the one who has the son who's got problems?
- 6:35Speaker 3: Is it or was it a distraction for Rob Reiner.
- 6:40Speaker 2: To then turn to politics to kind of like not,
- 6:44Speaker 2: I mean, you can't what do you do with that son?
- 6:46Speaker 2: It's almost his own distraction, Like they were saying, is
- 6:48Speaker 2: it a distraction that Trump was, you know, came out
- 6:52Speaker 2: with this Twitter because of all the other stuff that
- 6:53Speaker 2: he's got on.
- 6:54Speaker 3: You don't know. We don't know because we think like
- 6:56Speaker 3: rational people, you and I.
- 6:59Speaker 1: Rob Reiner did a lot of political work for many
- 7:01Speaker 1: many years, did good work for you know, money for
- 7:04Speaker 1: kids programs, and he worked with the governor and very
- 7:07Speaker 1: fine political work.
- 7:08Speaker 2: But he also took off for the whole Charlie Christing,
- 7:11Speaker 2: he I mean I read about that.
- 7:12Speaker 3: He was Charlie Kirk, I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry.
- 7:15Speaker 2: I got to got I'm thinking of Florida politics right now,
- 7:18Speaker 2: So sorry about that.
- 7:19Speaker 3: But yeah, I'm so disturbed today. I can't think.
- 7:21Speaker 2: But yes, Charlie Kirk that he took up that and
- 7:25Speaker 2: and was like very spoke about Erica and how she
- 7:29Speaker 2: forgave the killer, you know, because he's just a very
- 7:32Speaker 2: forgiven person. So he did not put it down when
- 7:34Speaker 2: it came to that, when it came to murder or
- 7:36Speaker 2: when it came to family, he put the politics beside.
- 7:40Speaker 3: He did have that other side.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Well, how come when he talked about Trump he would
- 7:44Speaker 1: go into such.
- 7:45Speaker 2: A rage because I'm telling you my own brother, we
- 7:48Speaker 2: were born in the same household, at the same parents.
- 7:50Speaker 3: Why does my brother like that.
- 7:51Speaker 2: I'm sure all of us know people that at some
- 7:53Speaker 2: point were very rational. If I sent you one email
- 7:56Speaker 2: from my brother, you'd go, oh m rage. And by
- 8:00Speaker 2: the way, all the time, all the time. We finally
- 8:02Speaker 2: need to block him from everything. But he does have
- 8:04Speaker 2: a son who is disturbed. I have a nephew that
- 8:07Speaker 2: lives at home in his forties. No, I mean, I
- 8:09Speaker 2: laugh about it because but it's very very it's creepy
- 8:12Speaker 2: because you're like, how do we how are we raised
- 8:14Speaker 2: in the same household, have the same parents, and where
- 8:17Speaker 2: does this vitriolic these words, these incredible language come from.
- 8:22Speaker 3: I mean, like just trying to take I mean, it's
- 8:24Speaker 3: like hard to believe.
- 8:25Speaker 2: But I just think we've seen a lot of that
- 8:27Speaker 2: on social media, that people feel like they can hide
- 8:29Speaker 2: behind words now and not acted out where we just
- 8:31Speaker 2: saw it acted out in real time.
- 8:33Speaker 3: It's just very horrible.
- 8:35Speaker 2: I didn't need to bring this up, but I had
- 8:36Speaker 2: to talk about it because it is like shocking and beyond.
- 8:39Speaker 1: I hate to say that we're out of time already.
- 8:41Speaker 1: It's went by really fast. But tell us what.
