- 0:00Speaker 1: Chapter seventy of Religion, by the threefold kinds of faith Arjuna.
- 0:06Speaker 1: If men forsake the holy ordinance, heedless of shastras, yet
- 0:10Speaker 1: keep faith at heart and worship what shall be the
- 0:14Speaker 1: state of those late Krishna Satwan Rajas Thomas say Krishna threefold.
- 0:22Speaker 1: The faith is of mankind and springs from those three qualities,
- 0:26Speaker 1: becoming true or passion stained or dark, as thou shalt hear,
- 0:32Speaker 1: the faith of each believer Indian prince conforms itself to
- 0:36Speaker 1: what he truly is. Where thou shalt see a worshiper
- 0:40Speaker 1: that one to what he worships, lives assimilate, such as
- 0:45Speaker 1: the shrine, So is the wotry. The Suthfa's souls adore
- 0:50Speaker 1: true gods. The souls obeying Rajas worship Ratrasas or Yakshas.
- 0:56Speaker 1: And the men of darkness pray to pretas and to
- 0:59Speaker 1: bhutas Ay and those who practice bitter penance not enjoyed
- 1:06Speaker 1: by rightful rule, balance which hath its root in self
- 1:09Speaker 1: sufficient proud hypocrisies, those men passion viset violent while torturing
- 1:17Speaker 1: the witless ones. My elements shut in fire company within
- 1:21Speaker 1: their flesh Nay me myself present within the flesh, know
- 1:27Speaker 1: them to devils devoted not to heaven. For like as
- 1:31Speaker 1: foods are threefold for mankind in nourishing, so is there
- 1:36Speaker 1: threefold way of worship, abstinence and almsgiving. Hear this of me.
- 1:41Speaker 1: There is a food which brings force, substance, strength, and
- 1:45Speaker 1: health and joy to live, being well seasoned, ordial, comforting,
- 1:50Speaker 1: soothfast meat. And there being foods which break aches and
- 1:55Speaker 1: undress and burning blood and grief, being too biting thing,
- 2:00Speaker 1: salt and sharp, and therefore craved by too strong appetite.
- 2:05Speaker 1: And there is foul food kept from overnight, savorless, free,
- 2:09Speaker 1: the which the foul will eat, a feast of rottenness,
- 2:14Speaker 1: meat for the lips of such as love the darkness.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Thus with rites, a sacrifice not for rewardment, made offered
- 2:25Speaker 1: in rightful vise. When he who vows saith with heart devout.
- 2:30Speaker 1: This I should do is sooth fast right, but sacrifice
- 2:34Speaker 1: for gay offered for good repute. Be sure that this
- 2:39Speaker 1: o best of Barathas is ras right with stamp of passion,
- 2:44Speaker 1: and a sacrifice offered against the loss, with no due
- 2:47Speaker 1: goal of foodgiving, with no accompaniment of hallowed him nor
- 2:53Speaker 1: largness to the priests in faithless celebration, call it why
- 2:58Speaker 1: the deed of darkness, law, worship of God's meriting, worship slowly,
- 3:04Speaker 1: reverence of twice bonds, teachers purity, rectitude, and the dramataria's war,
- 3:10Speaker 1: and not to endure any helpless thing. These make a
- 3:13Speaker 1: true religeousness of act, words causing no man woe, words
- 3:19Speaker 1: ever true gentle and pleasing words, and those aysay in
- 3:24Speaker 1: murmured reading of sacred writ These make the true religiousness
- 3:28Speaker 1: of speech, serenity of soul, benignity, sway of the silent spirit,
- 3:34Speaker 1: constant stress to sanctify the nature. These things make good,
- 3:38Speaker 1: right and true religiousness of mind. Such threefold faith in
- 3:43Speaker 1: highest piety, kept with no hope of gain by heart's
- 3:47Speaker 1: devote is perfect work of subtuan, true belief, religion shown
- 3:52Speaker 1: in act of proud display to win good entertainment. Worship
- 3:56Speaker 1: faith such say I is a progest and be religion
- 4:02Speaker 1: followed by a witless will to tortureself or come a
- 4:06Speaker 1: power to hurt another of thomas, dark and ill. The
- 4:10Speaker 1: gift lovingly given when one shall say, now, must I
- 4:14Speaker 1: gladly give? When he who takes can render nothing back.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Made in due place, due time, and to a meet
- 4:21Speaker 1: recipient is gift of supplan, fair and profitable. The gift
- 4:27Speaker 1: selfishly given where to receive is hope again, or when
- 4:31Speaker 1: some end is sought, or where the gift is proffered
- 4:35Speaker 1: with a grudge, This is of rajious staying with impulse ill.
- 4:40Speaker 1: The gift churlishly flung at evil time, in wrongful place
- 4:45Speaker 1: to base recipient, made in this daying half unkindliness, is
- 4:50Speaker 1: gift of Thomas dark. It does not bless here in
