- Catie: Welcome back to From Nine to Mom. Danielle: Where we discuss balancing the nine to five hustle with the beautiful chaos that we call motherhood. Catie: This week is Halloween. I feel like this is your favorite holiday. Danielle: So this is my favorite holiday. I just feel like we've had so much going on this year leading up to it that like I didn't do my normal. And I feel like I didn't last year either because I was traveling for work so much, which is kind of what happened this year. So I'm Catie: Yeah. Danielle: not as in the spirit as I normally am, but I did have six kids carving pumpkins at my house last night. So that was pretty fun. Catie: Amazing. We carved our pumpkins Sunday night, Monday night? I don't remember. Danielle: So what is a car? Catie: Well, it's more we carved, right? Because these guys can't carve. I let them draw what they thought with dry race marker on it. But Calvin draws tornadoes, he doesn't draw yet. And then Jack's like writing numbers because he just loves counting and Danielle: You love numbers. Catie: So he drew a five. So Ryan was like carving a number five out on the Danielle: That's cute. Catie: pumpkin. It doesn't look bad actually. and Calvin wanted a scary face, so I just tried to make a scary pumpkin. Danielle: Yeah, I feel like the kids will get into scary faces. I had to draw a scary face from one of kids last night. Colton did a fuggler because he loves fugglers. If you don't know what those are. Catie: I don't know what that is. Danielle: You don't know what a fuggler is? I wish Catie: No Danielle: I had one in this room right now. So think of the name. Fuggler. Catie: Yeah. Danielle: The bad word in the front. I'm not gonna say it on the podcast, you know, just in case. And ugly. So Catie: Yeah, this is a nice podcast. Danielle: yeah, so nice. F and ugly. Like that's what it stands for. And it makes me laugh because the kids are obsessed with them, fugglers. And that's what he wanted on his pumpkin. So Google it. Yeah. Look it up. usually I have them like on my bag or something, but I feel like he took it. Yes, they come in many forms. Like I had to buy a Fug nugget this weekend for Colton. So there's that. So I had a fuggler. See them? I love them. Personally, they're so funny looking. Fug nug. Catie: Interesting. I'm lucky trying to right now. Is it a stuffed animal or something? okay. Yep. Fug Nugs. Interesting. Danielle: Yeah, that's the theme he wants for his birthday as well. So Catie: That would be not too hard to carve in a pumpkin. the eyes are hard yeah. Danielle: Yeah, I his is just like I didn't I did like look he did it himself. I helped him find one that whatever. And then Daisy wanted me to carve a cap, but she insisted on carving it with me. So I had her little hand Catie: Mm. Danielle: carving with me. And I break out in a rash when I do the pumpkins. Like if I put my Catie: Yeah. Danielle: hand in a pumpkin goop, I get a rash all over my arms. So that's super fun. But we had like a true it reminded me of like, you know, people were talking about nineties summers. Last night was like a nineties fall night. Like We had ordered p three moms, six kids, pizza, ice cream, and they played ghosts in the graveyard in the backyard, while they were waiting for us to be ready. We carved pumpkins and listened to scary music. Yeah, they didn't go to bed till ten, but we had fun. That counts, right? Mm-hmm. Catie: the best. Ugh, the best. Right? That's that's what matters. Yeah, it's like you try to hit all these things. And I will say this year, like I just you get better at stuff every year, but I feel like things are so chaotic with two kids in school and needing goodie bags and the parties and the costumes and that. And I'm really, really like one of my friends had asked me a while back, the skylight calendars? Danielle: Yep. Catie: And they're so expensive. but like they're a nice little hub for everything. I found a knockoff one. on Amazon that I'm gonna order when it goes on Black Friday. So I'll make sure I share it with everyone. It was on our newsletter. I want it really bad. It's gonna be a hundred bucks. That's what I've seen it as deepest discount. So it Danielle: That's really good. Catie: connects, Danielle, it connects to Cozy, Google Calendar, game time app. So when your sports stuff, all the stuff that they run the sports through like Snap and all these other apps, all of those, what else does it go through? it has your like you can connect your Microsoft everything to it and then you can filter it. Danielle: Last dojo maybe all these random apps that we have. Catie: And then you can talk to it and say, Hey, add this to add this reminder to the calendar. So then every morning I can be like have it connect and just be like, give me my rundown for today. what do I need? I need it. Danielle: I need it because I bought another calendar, to keep things straight. And that's the thing. this weekend, well this whole like you said, we have all this stuff and you guys do your spooky walks every night, which I f love. And Daisy's been begging me for a spooky walk. And it's like every night we have an activity and it's late. So I promised her I'd take her on a spooky walk tonight 'cause she's like Jack, like loves the scaries and whatever. Catie: Obsessed. Danielle: so But there's a sporting event or dance. we have dance Mondays and Wednesdays. Catie: Every day. Danielle: And then last night we did the pumpkins. that was fun and Halloween y. But even on Saturday, which is Halloween, Colton has he has to do evaluations for basketball. So I'm like on Saturday morning I have to take the kid to evaluations. We forg Daisy had a birthday party this weekend. I like never stops. Catie: It's I just need to be able to talk into something and say, Okay, put Daisy's birthday party in. Please Danielle: You really are. Catie: remind me four days before the birthday party so I don't miss Amazon cutoff to deliver a present to my house to do it. You know what I mean? Danielle: Well, that's the biggest thing because I did miss it. So then you have to go to Target, God forbid. And then Daisy wanted a best friend necklace. Claire's. I had to go to Claire's for Daisy. Okay? Yep, we're there. Catie: And you spend seven hundred dollars. Yeah. But it's like how n that I think it I think it could cure me of I don't know what disease, but that whatever I've got, that's what it could do. Because like I felt so good that I've had it together this week. It's red ribbon week. So there's a dress up day every week, right? Or every Danielle: Yeah. Catie: day. And I'm like, okay, then Kelvin has his dress like Halloween costume days Thursday, but then he has pajama day Friday. Jack had pajama day today, he wears costume on Friday, Thursday is some other day. Danielle: Maybe it's a dress like a fifties girl on on t yesterday, out of nowhere, for fifty days of school. and they have half days on Friday and I didn't know this. Catie: For who knows what? It just keeps coming up. Danielle: Do your kids have school on election day? I know this is a Halloween episode, but we're getting into it. My kids don't have school next week for election. So you might want to check your calendar because I didn't know. Catie: yeah. good. I hope mine do. I hope mine do. Well, so then you can also upload a calendar. Danielle: The school calendar. Catie: So you can attach your school calendar or any of those and put it in and it'll auto load it. Danielle: We're both buying this, but we'll see if it works for me. For you, I feel like Catie: I also realized go ahead. Danielle: no, I just feel like with you, you're good at your whole family is good with routine. My whole family sucks at routine. And it doesn't matter how good I think we are. Like, I bought another calendar, it sticks on, it's in the kitchen. on the window. It's like a Martha Stewart giant one because nobody was reading the other calendar. No one's looking at Cozy. I'm like, but here's the reality. That would work for me. That's all it's for at this point. I need it for me. And like you're saying, you love talking to the thing. You're like a boomer. Catie: You well, you have to keep everyone in line. Yes. I d I you know I have turned into one and it makes me happy. So like leave me alone. I'm sending you Danielle: And I'm happy for you. It's working. Catie: I'm sending it to you right now so you can look at this while we're talking because I'm so passionate about it. and I basically am desperate for this Danielle: He's looking for a brand deal at this point. Catie: calendar and I will create content every single day if I get it. and we're talking about something that's a hundred dollars. So, I could just buy it, but I'm so lazy. It's two hundred Danielle: You could just buy it, but it's fine. Catie: dollars right now, so I have to wait till it goes on sale. But anyway, my point was like this week on top of Halloween has just been so busy. I needed Calvin has his party on Thursday, juice boxes need to be sent in Tuesday though. Then money's due, like tuition payments due. Then it's the and I'm just like How do I remember everything? So I've been putting everything in cozy, but then I don't read the reminders. I don't do like I just I think I would benefit from something like this. So then every morning when it's the most chaotic morning, every single day that I can't get past, I can at least look at this calendar and be like, okay, it's gonna guide me through what I need. Isn't it pretty? You can add Danielle: It's color coded and it looks pretty. I I like it. Yeah, it's so pretty. Catie: so I'm pretty sure you can talk into it too, and you can make grocery lists and just you can in cozy. I also learned in Cozy, I think both of us, if you s have the cozy premium or whatever, you can smart Danielle: Yeah. Catie: you can smart add stuff. So it's not like type in, but you can like just hit smart add or there's an AI event import, but Danielle: I did see that. Catie: that's on the cozy like gold. I don't know. I'm like basically a cozy horror at this point. Danielle: We both have it, of course. We both already have it. But I don't know. And then there's let's get into costumes because this is t year number Catie: A whole nut, right? Danielle: two, where Colden has had a meltdown about what he's gonna be. Catie: Mm-hmm. Danielle: We figured it out. But he can't be the same thing at school that he is on Halloween. He Catie: Mm. Danielle: has to be a book character because, and Catie: yeah. Danielle: And Daisy is the most stubborn. Colton can't decide what to be for Halloween. He's gonna be Doodle Bob from Spongebob. So this is another year of SpongeBob for us. But Daisy, no matter how many costumes we showed her, where we took her, she just wants to be a very specific piece of candy that she saw online, a nummy candy. She people ask what kind of candy, just a nummy candy. That I am now crafting a candy costume because I have so much time to do so. Yeah. Yeah. Catie: Well, in all your extra time make make the costume. Danielle: So now I'm making a case and casting. Catie: I don't know, and I guess I'll never say never. I don't know that I'll make a costume. I don't got that in me. Danielle: you will if your kids are d said on it, you will have it in you. Catie: I know, right? We've heard those words before. Danielle: Yeah, you will. Catie: My kids said Mario and Luigi like a month ago and I bought the costumes and we've never spoken it about it again about it again until this past weekend we put them on and there's been no fight. So we're done. Danielle: Well, that's that's what other people I know do. And that's what I'm gonna do from now. Well, Daisy wanted to be candy for months. I started asking way early. But Colton had all these ideas, but he gets over he's like, Mom, stop asking. It's giving me stress. I took him to the store second year in a row, he has to leave. I have it's giving him anxiety to there's too many choices, and I want all then it was This is not meant to be stressful. Catie: You're like, buddy, this is not meant to be stressful. It's fun. Danielle: But then I'm looking at him and that is so something that like I would have done at his age. Like For sure, like because I couldn't, like, there's too many choices. I want to pick the right one. Thank God I had good friends that like wanted to be costumes with me, so I didn't to choose. But like in that scenario, he then also was convinced that he was gonna be pennywise. Of course, it's like Spirit Halloween is every costume you could think of, but they didn't have Catie: Mm-hmm. Danielle: a pennywise costume for boys. and he we get in the car, so now I'm like looking for it because I need to order it online. And he says, Mom, stop. I think I need to wait till I'm 10 to wear that costume. He's seven. I'm like, why? He's like, I'm not gonna lie, I'm getting real scared just looking at it. So all that, 'cause he wanted only to be the one Pennywise character to for him to say he's too scared and we're back to Doodle Bob. So that's what it is. Catie: Well, that's where it's like these kids these days are so spoiled. Like my I don't remember my mom walking into Spirit Halloween and pick whatever you want. Danielle: No, my mom made my costumes and they were awesome. Catie: Yeah. Or like it was Yeah, like you go to JC Penny and like pick out what's on the wall or like that was it. It wasn't a whole spirit Halloween like adventure of like pick him Party Party City. Party City did all the costumes. I never went through Danielle: Did they have to do a Halloween when we were little? They had to. Party City. I never I never went to Party City. Catie: there. It was like you pick what you want, like it was like a ordered from where like I feel like it was different. I don't think I was super into Halloween growing up either. I think like I'm pretty sure I probably went as a soccer player fifteen times. Danielle: Dude, I had sick costumes. My mom made them all. they were so good. And then as I got older, we did the weirdest stuff. But it was like all it was me and my two best friends. the one year we were the Spice Girls, but there were only three of us. Catie: Yeah. Three of them. Amazing. I mean Danielle: Fine. It's fine. even as adults, Kelly and I like we did the kiss with all the makeup. Halloween Catie: Mm-hmm. Danielle: was our holiday. Like that Catie: The jam. Danielle: was our jam. And I've always loved it. So like I want my kids to get really and I want to do family costumes. But then so we always used to when Colton was little. He was a little more decisive back then. But now it's like friends come into play. Where are we going? Trick-or-treating. So like that was a big thing. Mm-hmm. Catie: Yeah. They he needs to be cool. I know. I actually we were talking about it with somebody and I'm like, how old do kids trick or treat to now? Like what's the cutoff? Danielle: I don't know what it's supposed to be now, but I think kids go in like in through high school. Catie: really? All right. Yeah. Do parties instead. Yeah. Danielle: Yeah, they they don't go trick or treating like we used to think of trick or treat probably freshman sophomore year. they'll go like hang out at somebody's house. Yeah. Catie: I I think this is gonna be our big year for trick-or-treating. Like the kids can go can make it and like we can stay up later. Like, you know, Danielle: And it's a weekend. Catie: it's a Saturday. We have a little crew coming over, we're gonna like get the Danielle: Do you? Catie: wagon out. I mean, not like a ton of people, but like some family and stuff. So like we're gonna Our neighborhood's really cool for Halloween. Danielle: Which is the bat like our neighborhood is obviously cool. Catie: We have we have sidewalks, we have everyone all of the houses around here are so into it, like Danielle: And we have adult Halloween too. there's people set Catie: Mm. Danielle: up at different parts of the neighborhood with adult trick or treating, which I really do love. Well, you could start it. You could be the start of it. Somebody's gotta start. Catie: Amazing. That's what we don't have that. I wish we had that. Yeah, but then I had to stay home. Danielle: Carry jello shots in a pumpkin bucket and hand it to like when you go to trick-or-treat if an adult answers the phone be like, Here you go. Reverse trick-or-treating. Catie: Right. Right. Here. I know. I think 'cause like last year like Calvin was still too shy, like he wouldn't go up and I had to like walk up to the houses. I think I'm parked on the sidewalk this year with our cooler in the wagon and we go around. Danielle: Yeah, this year we're going we used to do all family and I did love like when we did that. The last few years it's just been too hard. My brother, you would go to his house in Lake Wiley, but it was on a school night and it was just too far away, whatever. So we stopped doing that and that now the kids all have their own friends from their own school. So we're going to a friend's house and then we're gonna trick or treat from there. Catie: Right. Yes. Well, right. It you want it to be f yeah, like you get so I have like two years here, I think, before. But Jack knows all the kids in our neighborhood now too. Like I think he's gonna wanna like see Danielle: See. Catie: them and stare at him because he doesn't talk to people yet. But like just I Danielle: He just goes and looks like you wanna be my friend. Catie: know him, mommy. Okay, go talk to him. No. Danielle: They will wave to Cole and Cole will be like, I don't know why that kid always wants to talk to me. It's like, dude, you are like, cause you're Yeah, Catie: They act like they're so popular. Danielle: my gosh. And then Daisy though will just walk up, hey, do you want to my friend? Hey, would you be my friend? such a difference. It's unbelievable. Catie: We had the other day, so Kelvin goes to preschool with our our good best friend's son as well. And they don't the two of them are like not making other friends at preschool. And so we've been telling Calvin, we're like, Go find like we need names. Who else is in your class? Like, who else does the teacher say? And he's like, I don't know. And then he started now he found out there is a ja and we did fact check there is a jack in his class. Danielle: Okay, another jack. Cal Calvin is like, Catie: And now he Calvin's like he's the ja he's like, I remember he'll remember that name now. So now ever it could be some other who knows which kid it is, but he calls all of Jack now. And he's like like making stories up about like being in class Danielle: Yeah. Catie: and that about this Jack and like whatever. It's so funny. Danielle: He's being on his like being on his ass about like who are you hanging out with? He's like, I'm just gonna tell my mom Jack every time. Like, you cool with that? Catie: Well that's what we had to check. We were like, is there actually a jack at school? And w we did check it w there is one. So we're just laughing so hard at it. But like he just is content. He doesn't need friends. Danielle: Well, Daisy was like that the first few years. She only hung out with one girl. Catie: Mm-hmm. Danielle: it was her bestie, Ava. it was always Ava this, Ava that. nobody else met her and her boyfriend Wyatt last year. But this year, her new she has a new best friend, the one that we bought the necklaces for, whatever. Catie: Mm-hmm. Danielle: They danced together and we didn't intentionally so it's like getting like Catie: Yes. Danielle: they're getting tighter. But she's friends with everybody now. Catie: Yep. Danielle: It it took a few years, so it took a few years of coming out of her shell and expanding her horizon. So it will happen for you guys for Kelvin, but Catie: Right. Right, eventually. Danielle: he's just not ready yet. And I know this is supposed to be about Halloween, but did I tell you that Daisy came home and told us that a boy kissed her at school? So she's like, it did on her cheek. Johnny kissed her Catie: Did it did it in fact happen? Danielle: on the cheek and she can't stop grinning about it. And she knows it makes Jordan so mad. So she keeps bringing it up that she got kissed by a boy. And we're Daisy, you're too little. Like you shouldn't be kissing boys. She's like, I didn't kiss him. He kissed me. We're like, Okay. Catie: Dad. Danielle: Well, still she's like, but you know, I've got a couple boyfriends, so Catie: Have options. Free spirit. Danielle: I'm like, what the heck is going on here? Colden's a loyalist. Like Daisy, she's got all. Catie: She's got a you know. She that's really funny because it's like they get to a s like where they're little and they're like hugging and it's cute or they k whatever. And then we hit we were just at with our friends that have two daughters that are the same age as ours. And we were at the farm. And you know, like when you don't see some people for a while and it like takes the kids a minute to like warm up, and then they're like, Danielle: Yeah. Catie: we're all friends, like this is fun, and they play. So Jack and the oldest one the other they were like getting along so good. They're holding hands as we're leaving, but they're a little too old now for whatever they hugged each other and then both went to go kiss and Jack or Ryan grabbed Jack and like pulled him back and my friend Danielle: Ha ha ha Catie: pulled her daughter back at the same time. And then they're like, wait, we should have let it happen to be each other's first real kiss. Danielle: I know you should've let it happen. Film it. Catie: But we were just like she's like it was just my impulse to be like keep your like, you know, hands Danielle: don't do it. Catie: to yourself and like, you know It's just so funny though that they like they were going. Now they're getting married. Danielle: We were going in for the kiss. True love. It could happen. Catie: We said how great would it be to be like best friends with your in laws? Danielle: Well, I see people post about that. I'm like that would be literally the that's the goal, right? The dream of life. That's why people had arranged marriages. I don't think that's actually why they had but I could see the allure. Catie: That's the goal. Maybe. Well, if everyone if everyone's rich and we can, have an agreement, I think that's pretty good. Danielle: Yeah, I think that's hey, we're all gonna be good. We're gonna have a yacht. It's gonna be amazing. Until we talk about Catie: Everyone's gonna pay for the wedding, that's not a not like Danielle: Kelvin and Daisy and we're like, they're gonna be living in our basement and they're gonna destroy where they're gonna be like hanging with Elon Musk. Catie: If they get married we'll elope. We'll make them elope. Danielle: Yeah, that's we're not go. Just do your thing. You know, it's it's gonna be great. But are you gonna have somebody stay Catie: Yeah. It's yeah. We're we're we're going on a big party. yeah, I feel like Danielle: back and ha hand out candy? Catie: I don't know. Our neighborhood is busy. Like it it all night. I don't I definitely don't have enough candy, but bags of candy this year are twenty five dollars. Danielle: I have no candy because we're going to my friend's house. Thank God. Because my kids would eat it all. I think I'm gonna leave out. I'm gonna get some Catie: So lights off. Well, that's the problem. Danielle: candy and just leave it out. And like whoever grabs it, grabs it. Catie: Ours, we have if I the longer I leave it out, the more like stuff gets knocked over on my porch and stuff. the kids just are old, they're not whatever. So Danielle: Yeah, they get older. Catie: we'll probably leave it out while we go and then when I get home, we'll probably be done. Mm-hmm. Danielle: that's it. Turn the lights off, hide inside. Catie: Yeah. Or we'll let the boys hang out and we'll bring our fire pit out in the driveway and hang out. Danielle: That's the best thing to d like that's so fun. Catie: Yeah, and let the kids eat candy and stay up till midnight. Danielle: And they throw up because they've eaten too much. and that's the other thing. Catie: I know. Danielle: Remember when we were little? They were like, check for razor blades, check for like, do you check all your kids' candy? Catie: I feel like last year we came home and Jack is so anal that he like sorted his candy. Danielle: Air. Catie: And their papa has trained them to take only Reci's. So like they That's what they mostly that was mostly what we had last year. We didn't do a in depth trick or treating last year. We didn't mi it was also pouring rain here last year. So we didn't make it very par. Yeah. Danielle: Yeah, remember my kids were there and Colton is still mad about it. He's like, I got no candy last year. Catie: So it's like we didn't get a ton this year, I don't like I'll probably look at it and make sure that I don't know, I don't really I let them eat pretty much everything, but I'm not gonna let them have I don't know. I don't let them have the super sour stuff. They have sour patch kids, but warheads or like that, I won't let them have those. Danielle: Yeah. I get worried about the bigger hard candies. Catie: Yeah. Or like any gum or anything weird that makes it in there. Danielle: Yeah. Catie: But you better believe I'm taking the butterfingers. Danielle: That's what you take. Catie: Yeah, I never get a but I one butterfinger on Halloween. The what? Twix Danielle: I always take the Twix Twix bars. Catie: are good. My can like, but what's your like is Twix like if you went to go get a candy bar? What would you get? Or melanus, okay. Danielle: No. K I I I don't know how to say it 'cause everyone has different caramellos, caramellos, those are my go tos for my whole life. it's my favorite candy bar. What about you? Catie: Really? Snickers. that's so I've Danielle: I bought for last night, by the way. They're terrible for you, but you I my favorite ice cream bar is a Snickers ice cream bar. They ha sell mini ones at Walmart now. They are d delicious. Catie: been on have you seen the Yasso Frozen Yogurt? Ugh. I'm Danielle: I love Yasso Frozen yogurt bars. Catie: so jealous the girls on the toast are sponsored by them and I'm like, you bitches. Danielle: I love them. They're so expensive. I still buy Catie: They're so expensive, but Wegmans has them always a dollar off. They're four ninety nine. You Danielle: Well now I have wagmans, so I'll have to go get Catie: do, yeah. You could go get Wegmans has their brand too, obviously, and they're still really good. Danielle: Yeah, I love Wegman's brand. I need to go to Wegmans because I need all the gluten-free stuff. I'm out. So it's like worth Catie: Yeah, yeah. It's Danielle: it. Yeah, I don't know. I feel like the candy is dangerous for all of us in the in the house. And they want to eat so much. Like, I Catie: Yeah, it shouldn't be allowed in the house. Danielle: almost wish there was a way to be like, you eat what you like, but then they'd all throw up because they'd eat it all. But it's like, it's just an they want it for breakfast. They want it for like. A snack. It's like what what's the rule? Do you tell you could have one piece a day, three pieces at breakfast, lunch, dinner? what's the truth? what are we actually telling these kids? Catie: I've been using it as a bribe for the last two weeks. Like we're in a big bribe era. Like bribes are working for like MMs right now. Like I can get them to do anything. yeah, they're Danielle: Just and I'm jealous. Catie: fine. Like for with MMs, they're like, yeah, I'll do anything. Danielle: My kids are freaking bougie. This is Daisy's bride right now. Well, first of all, she wants the Snickers bars every day. But this is what I'm carrying around right now for brides. The Giardelli minis. Catie: Are they Giradelli minis? Danielle: Yeah, she's a bougie bougie bee. Catie: Usually it's like, yeah, they d they'll do it for MMs. they got their first like they'll clean up the entire playroom. They'll Danielle: What are they doing for MMs? give me an example of what they're doing for for an Catie: for a mini pack of MMs. Like the fun size MMs. Danielle: Dude, I need you to come like train my kids. Catie: And then we've been really trying to it's basic stuff, but they need to learn to take care of their shit. I don't know. I Danielle: Yes, it's unbelievable. Catie: have little cubbies for them now, for their school stuff. And I'm like, Danielle: Yeah. Catie: get your sh put your shoes away, put your coat away. we just have so much shit to leave the house that I'm like we needed. Ugh. Yeah. Danielle: Yeah, you do. I think about you have and you'll have boots soon and all that stuff. we haven't really changed over yet. But I do like the idea of using the Halloween candy and saying, it's your candy, but you have to do this to get your two pieces. Do you know what I mean? you have to do every day you've got to do these two things on your own. Catie: Earn it. Right. Yeah. Well, it's like honestly, it all goes back to you see what other people are doing online, and I'm like, I'm seeing these people that have kindergartners that are getting themselves dressed and doing all this stuff. And I'm like, we'd be here for four hours if I had to let Jack get himself dressed and pick out his clothes and do this and like. People online are like, yeah, they get home and they do their whole getting home routine and wash their hands and do that. Like I'm like, I feel like I'm screaming at everyone to just do normal things. To do normal things. To go Danielle: Be a person, like be a human being. Catie: to the bathroom before you leave the house. Like that. Danielle: Yeah, don't wait until the very last second when Colt's like, Mom, I can't get my now we like his That's that happened this morning. Jordan's like running Catie: The bus is coming, I have to poop like every day. Danielle: late and Colt's like, I'm so sorry guys, but I really gotta poop. It's like you can't tell a kid Catie: Okay. Danielle: they can't poop. Catie: Well, right. And they know it. That's the other problem. Jack knows that I can't tell no. And I'm like pan and then Danielle: Yeah, so it's like Catie: I'm panicked because I'm like, the bus is leaving, I'm gonna have to bring you to school. Danielle: Yeah, I I just feel like there's so many moving parts and then you throw a bunch of Halloween candy in the mix and it's so fun. I want them to get a ton of candy, I want them Catie: Yeah. Danielle: to enjoy it as much as I used to, but it's like another thing for us to police and for us to like Catie: Be the bad guy. Danielle: Yes. And I just want things to be like easy for five seconds. Like just Catie: Yeah. Danielle: five seconds. Like my house was clean before I went to bed, and then I Had to get ready this morning and I left Daisy like Catie: Yeah. Danielle: not like in it looks like, like I told you this morning, like seven raccoons ran through the house. And that's what I'm telling people. But it's embarrassing because like this weekend, and I know this person won't care if I say their name on the podcast, but someone that we're trying to hang out with this weekend, she was being kind 'cause she knows I've got like Daisy, and she's like, we can come to you if it's easier. And I want to be like, girl, I would love that to have you here, but I can't guarantee that it will even be in one piece if you were to show up. So so we're good. We're good coming to your house. Like, thank you for thanking everyone. Catie: It's gonna look the house might be on fire. Sometimes it is easier, you're like, no, that's actually if I just leave, that would be great. Let's forget about it. Yeah. Danielle: It'll be better. let's just get like and I was always the one, I don't care. I want people to be at my house. But at Catie: Same. Danielle: the current minute, like I feel like my life is a horror movie. Like, you know, people are posting those things that that are like, it's a haunted house, but it's like it's haunted house, but my dog peed eight times because she's elderly and I probably need to have the come to Jesus conversation. Or like, it's a haunted house, but my daughter decided to I don't know put a Tootsie roll on her hair and we had to cut it out. it's a horror movie, but I've got twenty seven thousand Nidos. And then you Catie: But it's just my normal day to day life. Danielle: might be like, it's it's just me it's just us, It's a horror movie, Catie: It's just the today. Danielle: but there's 20 Nitos at the toy store that everyone's fighting over. it's just wild. Catie: The boys just earned their first dumpling. Danielle: what one did they get? Catie: Jack got well, they're knock offs. They're not real. Jack got a pink one and Calvin got a yellow one. Danielle: they're legit that's so exciting. Colton just got his first RMS Neto, the re the real one. Cause I neighbor sold it to me at an angel neighbor, sold it to me at cost. They just had an extra one to being kind. And I took Colton to run errands with me. And of course, like I we went neato hunting 'cause that's what we like part of like how I get them to come do stuff with me. And I told him he could buy one thing. And he was like Catie: What's that? Yeah. Danielle: And I had this like in my back pocket. Jordan's like, you're never gonna get out there. I like, no, I have I have a secret weapon. I'm gonna tell him, would you rather have anything here or a real Catie: I've got Danielle: RMS dumpling? And then he was like, Well, where is it? I didn't see one. he didn't believe me that I had it. And it was purple, but he's obsessed with it. So it's like, Katie, if I told you how much money I've spent on Nitos in preparation for the holiday, aka Christmas, you would throw up. throw up. Catie: Right. Right. I don't want to know. Yeah, I definitely don't to know. Danielle: I'm not telling you. I'm not saying what you like, 'cause if they're it's rid it's absolutely ridiculous. But I have people who hunt them for me and get them for me at cost, which it at cost they're not bad. five dollars, six dollars for a dumpling is not bad. Is insane. So like you have to have someone, you know, that's good at it for you. I don't know. Catie: Right. But the markups that people are doing. Yeah. You gotta have a hookup. Well, I found these fake ones up at the register at TJ Maxx by chance. Danielle: That's how I TJ Maxx has sick knockoffs. Catie: I didn't even know. I wasn't expecting Danielle: they're amazing Catie: and had I known I should have bought all of that were there. Danielle: Yeah, you really should have and had those be the the big prize. Catie: Yeah. They loved them. They love So Danielle: I'm so happy Catie: that's what era we're in. Danielle: You're finally finally in the ne as I talk shit about nidos, I've got one in my I've had one in my hands the whole time. It's a big one. Catie: You're holding one. I have a I have a fidget. This is actually a fidget thing that someone in Ryan's class made with a three D printer. And it like Yeah, Danielle: those ones are cool. They make the box and stuff. Catie: and it spins. I need mo I can't do squishies. I don't like that. I don't Danielle: Right. Catie: like their texture. I don't like I don't like how dirty they are and Danielle: We're discussing. Catie: Yeah, I can't. Danielle: But I love the like this and putty. Yeah, you don't like slime either. I love slime. So it's fine. I mean you use your fidgetone. Catie: I hate time, yeah. We're we're now in ASMR. Danielle: Mine is it on. Catie: It's so bad. Danielle: And then all the YouTubers are like Squish with their nails and they're like I popped it. And I'm always like, Why do you stick your why Catie: I don't I'm not quite there, but I could be one day with these Danielle: do you stick your daggers in these things? Do you think it's not gonna pop? Catie: I warned Jack about them popping because I said if one pops, we're done, we're never having them in our house again. Am I a mean parent? I think I'm mean. Danielle: No, I think that's absolutely hilarious because I could see Jack being like, Catie: Yeah. Danielle: Don't do it, Kelvin, no, no. Catie: He does yell at Kelvin a lot. We me and Ryan are totally the parents that you see the things that the videos of like where they just you just say the most wild outrageous things to your kids of like, Danielle: Yeah. Catie: if you do that, then you're gonna end up with like we've been trying to tell Jack about his nails, because he bites his nails naturally Danielle: Yeah. Catie: because it's hereditary. And we keep trying to tell him like bad things are gonna happen if you keep. biting your nails and we now we're telling him his fing his they won't grow back. And Ryan showed him pictures Danielle: Stop. Catie: of fingers that have messed up nails on them. Cause what else am I gonna do to make him stop? Danielle: Yeah, you gotta do something. I'm not against it. But now you're showing Catie: But yeah, we Danielle: them the pic it's like when I showed Colton the Ethiopian kid. it works, but it's traumatizing. So just put money away for therapy later. Catie: But you we always I think we end every episode though like saying you have to traumatize them a little bit or they won't be funny. Danielle: That's true, there's no humor in perfection, you know it's Catie: If you have yeah, if you have a perfect cushy life, that's gonna get you nowhere. You need to be dragged around like us and then you'll have a little bit of a personality. Danielle: What are you gonna We're Yeah Yeah, like so we're just instilling like greatness in them, really is what we're doing. She's they will just need a lot of therapy. That's totally Catie: Yes. Exactly what we're doing. Danielle: fine. This Halloween episode is really not that spooky, but you know. Catie: Hope you had a good time catching up with us. Danielle: Yeah. I think it's time for us to go traumatize our kids some more or something. Catie: That's the goal. We'll see y'all next time. Danielle: Bye everybody.
