- 0:33SPEAKER_00: Boys chase impulse.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: When you are young, discipline primarily comes from outside of you.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: But the goal of parenting is to train you in the way that you should go in order that you might learn how to train yourself.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: Men practice restraint.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: Boys chase impulse.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: People look for the shortcut, the hack.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: And if you come here looking for that, you won't find it.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: The shortcut is a lie.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: The hack doesn't get you there.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: And if you want to take the easy road, it won't take you to where you want to be.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: You're going into a dead end.

- 1:11SPEAKER_00: Some of our boys and youth, they don't need spoiling, they need love.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: Spoiling and love are two distinct things.

- 1:24SPEAKER_00: Spoiling is about doing anything and everything to stay in the good graces of our kids, primarily our sons.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: It speaks of your emotional insecurities and immaturities as a dad.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: Love, however, is nurturing and affection.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: Love comes in the form of discipline.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: Love can be a father being a stern father with his son and being consistent until the behavior is corrected.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: Love is validating.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: Love is what's making your sons earn his privilege when he breaks your rules.
