- 0:00You're going to have a ton of money to spend.
- 0:01Why not putting in one of the top three offensive players in
- 0:05the league? We're going to be looking at
- 0:14Aaron Judge and saying that he can't win the big game, Michael
- 0:17Jordan said. I played 82 games.
- 0:20You don't see the fun doing that.
- 0:21A game where? You got to go before.

- 2:21All you have to do to tune in and check out our local listings
- 2:24for all our shows is go to our website at
- 2:26www.worldwidesportsradio.com. I want to say something before
- 2:33the show starts. What really gets me poppin every
- 2:37single day is watching some of these old movies.
- 2:40And there's one particular movie, it doesn't get old for
- 2:43me. I can watch it over and over and
- 2:46over again. And everybody that knows my
- 2:48background, I have an Italian background and one of my
- 2:50favorite movies of all time is Goodfellas.
- 2:53So what I was doing today to get charged up, get ready for the
- 2:57show is watch Goodfellas. And and what's so crazy about
- 3:00that movie is there are parts in that movie.
- 3:03No matter how many times you watch it, there are things that
- 3:07you see that you you really never recognized.
- 3:11And there is a part in the movie when Joe Pesci is burying, you
- 3:18know, he's burying the, the mafia kid or the mafia guy with
- 3:23Robert De Niro and his group and, and they're burying I'm,
- 3:27I'm like, everybody knows the story.
- 3:29And he, he does something on camera that I didn't notice.
- 3:33And he puts his, as he's burying the guy puts his finger in his
- 3:36nose. So he's like picking his nose on
- 3:39camera while he he's, he's burying a body during, during
- 3:44the movie. So I never noticed.
- 3:46And I was watching and I was like, wait a second, I rewinded
- 3:48it and the guy has his finger in his nose.
- 3:51So I, I mean, I don't know any killer that actually kills
- 3:54somebody and he's burying somebody that actually puts his
- 3:57finger in his nose while he's, you know, you know, ending this
- 4:01man's life or burying this guy. So I don't know, it was
- 4:04something that really stuck out to me in the movie.
- 4:06I, I again, it's a movie that I can never get sick of.
- 4:10I can watch it over and over and over again.
- 4:12And it's one of those movies that I, I'm a Joe Pesci fan.
- 4:15It doesn't matter what movie Joe Pesci is in.
- 4:18I love it. I I mean, some of the movies
- 4:21that he's been in, movies that you probably don't even remember
- 4:24in the 80's, the late 80s, early 90s, I mean, you know, My Cousin
- 4:27Vinny, you know those kind of movies.
- 4:30But there are the movies that he has been in that you probably
- 4:32don't remember because they weren't as big as some of the
- 4:36movies he's been in. And I can watch any one of the
- 4:40movies that he's been in. It could be a love story, could
- 4:42be a drama, it could be action, it could be a killer movie.
- 4:46I love Joe Pesci. So what are you?
- 4:50What are you saying over here? I don't know what time he's
- 4:52doing over here. Anyways, yeah, we have a great
- 4:54show lined up for you guys. We're just under 2 weeks
- 4:57remaining in the MLB regular season.
- 4:59Several American League and National League playoff races
- 5:02are coming down to the wire. The Mariners are on fire with
- 5:07A10 game-winning streak, taking over the lead of the American
- 5:12League West on the Astros by 1/2 a game.
- 5:16They will face off this weekend in a three-game series that
- 5:20could both decide the West or maybe allow a wild card
- 5:25contender to back back into the race.
- 5:28The AL Central is nearly decided with the Detroit Tigers having a
- 5:335.5 game lead on the Cleveland Guardians and 10 games up on the
- 5:38Royals. The Guardians have gotten
- 5:40themselves into the thick of things in the wild card race and
- 5:45after mid season struggles trail the just the Boston Red Sox by
- 5:502.5 games for the last playoff spot in the American League.
- 5:55The American League East is also virtually over with the Blue
- 6:00Jays on a six game-winning streak, pulling them five games
- 6:04ahead of the Yankees, who have the top wild card slot by a game
- 6:08over the Astros in two games over the Red Sox.
- 6:11The only other contender for the Wild card are the Guardians and
- 6:16the Texas Rangers, who sit 3.5 games back from Boston and a
- 6:21game behind the Guardians for the last spot in the National
- 6:24League. The Brewers became the first
- 6:26team to clinch a playoff spot as they have their division mates
- 6:32the Chicago Cubs, who control the top wild card slot in the
- 6:36National League. The Phillies became the first
- 6:39team to clinch their division already with the Mets falling
- 6:44back to the pack going two of eight in their last 10 games and
- 6:50are now only 1.5 games ahead of of the Donny backs for the last
- 6:55playoff spot in the National League.
- 6:58After being tight with the Phillies for a long stretch of
- 7:02the season, the Dodgers lead the National League West by two
- 7:05games over the Padres and both teams have 11 games remaining.
- 7:09The Padres hold the second wild card spot and are 4.5 games up
- 7:16on the Mets. Still in the hunt are the
- 7:19Diamondbacks 1.5 games out, the Reds are two games out and the
- 7:24Giants are three games out. I want to go with the National
- 7:28League first because the National League is more
- 7:30interesting than the American League.
- 7:33I mean, there's nothing interesting about the American
- 7:35League. I don't.
- 7:36I don't think the Guardian, the Guardians are sneaking in.
- 7:39I am. I'm not surprised Seattle has
- 7:41taken advantage of the last 1213 games of the last two weeks.
- 7:48I think Seattle has the pitching, Seattle has the
- 7:51bullpen and they got one of the best hitters and one of the
- 7:55hottest hitters in baseball. So and he's probably going to
- 7:58win the American League MVPI. Don't think you can argue that
- 8:01now as good as Aaron Judge has been throughout the season.
- 8:05But the National League is interesting because I don't know
- 8:09who's going to win the National League no matter who gets in.
- 8:13I think all these teams are even even keel.
- 8:17I mean, if the Mets get in, are you going to think you're going
- 8:20to just run right through the Mets?
- 8:22The Mets have a lineup that has Lindor, Soto, Pete Alonso,
- 8:29Vientos. I mean, Vientos was the hottest
- 8:32hitter in the National League, and Soto was the hottest,
- 8:35hottest hitter in the American League last season.
- 8:39Vientos got hot in the second-half and finally started
- 8:42to hit. And Sotos, one of the hottest
- 8:43hitters in baseball. Are you going to just run all
- 8:47over the Mets if they sneak into the playoffs?
- 8:49I don't think so. Even with the young pitching
- 8:51they have with McClain as their number one guy, Sanga is not
- 8:56going to probably be called up, and if he does, he's going to be
- 8:58in the bullpen. The Chicago Cubs are
- 9:02interesting, and the reason why I think the Chicago Cubs are
- 9:05interesting is because I think they have a lot of depth in
- 9:09their lineup. They have one of the best
- 9:11outfielder outfields in all of baseball.
- 9:14They have a good pitching squad and their bullpen has been
- 9:18sensational. In the second-half of the
- 9:20season. They've been outlasted by a
- 9:23Brewers team that has just been so very hot since the All Star
- 9:28break. I I mean, they've been the
- 9:30hottest team in baseball. If you look at that record, I
- 9:33could you remember a team that has the record the Brewers had
- 9:38since the All Star break. Could you remember a team that
- 9:40has a record this good? I, I don't, I don't I can't, I
- 9:44can't remember the Brewers are dangerous.
- 9:46But am I going to trust the Brewers, even if they're the
- 9:48number one seed in the in the National League?
- 9:51Am I going to trust him after what I've seen over the years
- 9:53choking, no matter how talented they are, they're not going to
- 9:56have to play in the wild card game like they did last year.
- 9:59And you know what happened to them with the Mets.
- 10:01Pete Alonzo had a three run home run in the eighth inning and so
- 10:04long to the Brewers and Devin Williams is now in New York
- 10:08Yankee and choking as we we talk about all the time, Phillies.
- 10:13I expect the Phillies to be the most dangerous team in the
- 10:17National League. And the reason why is I think
- 10:20they have everything to win now. They lost Zach Wheeler for the
- 10:23season. That's going to hurt them.
- 10:25They lost their number one guy. He is as good as any pitcher and
- 10:29he's been as good as any pitcher in the last three years of
- 10:32baseball. But I still think they have
- 10:35enough depth. They added some good arms at the
- 10:38trade deadline. I think they have a very good
- 10:41bullpen and their lineup is ridiculous.
- 10:44This could be the best lineup in all of baseball depth wise.
- 10:47And I love Thompson Yankee guy. I I think he's one of the more
- 10:52underrated managers in all of baseball.
- 10:55The Dodgers, they're the most dangerous and the reason why is
- 10:59they are deferred. And what I mean by that is when
- 11:03the season is almost over, you're not talking about what a
- 11:08Shay Otani almost pitched a no hitter yesterday.
- 11:11We're not even talking about that.
- 11:13We're we're talking about a team that has a tremendous amount of
- 11:16depth. Now they're pitching staff has
- 11:17not stayed healthy, but they're getting healthier.
- 11:20This is a good bullpen. This team has all the layers to
- 11:25win another championship this year, the Padres, not so much.
- 11:30I, I, I don't know what it is with the Padres.
- 11:32I'm not betting on the Padres. I'm not because every time I bet
- 11:37on the Padres, I lose. So I'm not a betting man and my
- 11:40money is not towards the Padres. I think the Padres have a great
- 11:44lineup. I I really do.
- 11:45I think they're really good and losing King, is he out for the
- 11:50season now? No, he pitched.
- 11:51He actually pitched yesterday against.
- 11:52I didn't even know he came back. He pitched yesterday against the
- 11:54top five runs in the first inning.
- 11:56All right, so King is he came back.
- 11:58I didn't even know he came back. If if King's not at full
- 12:01strength, do they really have a number one?
- 12:05Do they really? I mean, the Padres got
- 12:07tremendous amount of depth in their their pitching squad is
- 12:10they have a good pitching staff, but do they have a bona fide #1
- 12:15And then that's the problem because you, you know, teams
- 12:18always play out. They always have an ace.
- 12:20The Yankees have an ace, they have Max Freed, The Mets have an
- 12:23ace. Well, we think they have an ace,
- 12:25a young guy in McClain. I mean, the Phillies have two
- 12:29aces even without Wheeler. They might have three.
- 12:31They have two All Stars. I I mean, all these teams are
- 12:35Otani. I mean, we know that the Dodgers
- 12:38have an ace. All these teams have aces, but
- 12:43the the Padres don't. So I'm not betting on the
- 12:45Padres. And as far as the Reds are
- 12:48concerned, I want to see the Reds make the playoffs because I
- 12:51know goodies going to be jumping and tell me, I told you, I told
- 12:55you Terry's the best matter of baseball.
- 12:59I I can't wait till he comes in and he will be in hopefully a
- 13:02little bit later. That's going to be a rough show.
- 13:03I have to witness goodies celebrating the Reds steal the
- 13:06Mets playoffs. I think he should be cheering
- 13:08for the Guardians. You, you, you want to hope that
- 13:10they get in. So maybe he's, he's doing a
- 13:13broadcast with the Guardians because he's been doing such a
- 13:16great job with the Guardians all season long, but and the Giants
- 13:18aren't making the playoffs either.
- 13:19I, I, I can't see the Giants winning.
- 13:22They got to win like probably 8 of their next 11 games to even
- 13:26sneak into the play. I.
- 13:27Don't see and I think they play three against the Dodgers next.
- 13:30The Diamondbacks are interesting because if the Diamondbacks
- 13:33sneak in with the young players that they have and, and by the
- 13:36way, this might be the best young outfield in baseball,
- 13:41that's how good they are. They're dangerous because we've
- 13:44seen what they've done. They've been to a World Series.
- 13:46They lost against the Texas Rangers.
- 13:49So in the National League, to me, Speedy, that's the way I
- 13:54look at what is going on in the National League.
- 13:57Yeah, it's that's the reason why is you're seeing a lot of these
- 14:00young, confident teams get going in the second-half of the season
- 14:02amidst the struggles that the Mets have had.
- 14:04And now you're seeing three teams be right there.
- 14:07It was really just the Reds for a while.
- 14:09Like the Reds were the team all right, right near the Mets.
- 14:10They were kind of playing pretty steady a lot of the year.
- 14:13Then they had a little bit of a slump.
- 14:14Now that the Mets are slumping, they've gotten back anywhere.
- 14:17The Diamondbacks sold at the trade deadline and they've
- 14:19gotten it going now. And I remember last year I
- 14:21called them very unlucky, probably besides the Braves,
- 14:23they had the next worst injury luck last season.
- 14:25And the Mets were able to sneak in over them last year just
- 14:28getting into the playoffs. But they always had really good
- 14:30talent. They didn't trade a lot away,
- 14:32but they still sold enough where it seemed like they were giving
- 14:34up on it. The Giants, I agree with you.
- 14:35They had their chance when they traded for Devers to get going.
- 14:38They slumped really badly once Devers got there.
- 14:40Not his fault necessarily, but their offense never really
- 14:43gotten it going. Now they're finally are.
- 14:45So yeah, I think if there's any team that would steal a spot, it
- 14:47would probably be the Diamondbacks as well.
- 14:49And I agree with you, they would be a tough out if they do get in
- 14:52the Cubs pitching. I don't necessarily trust in a
- 14:54longer series. I think maybe they could win the
- 14:56first round with the Padres. They're both kind of top heavy
- 14:59teams. I don't.
- 14:59I'm taking the Cubs over the Padres.
- 15:01Their pitching has actually held up surprisingly well.
- 15:03I was worried they didn't do enough of the deadline but
- 15:05they've held up surprisingly well.
- 15:07The the Dodgers and the Phillies are definitely the two best
- 15:09teams. Milwaukee I know looks good on
- 15:11paper. I still have questions with
- 15:12their offense though too. But you're right, it's
- 15:15interesting to think of. The last team that reminds me of
- 15:17the Brewers that have won a World Series with the Kansas
- 15:20City Royals? Jabba's Kansas City Royals.
- 15:22Yeah. That, that that's what they
- 15:25remember because they play small ball.
- 15:26The Brewers play small ball. That's what they do.
- 15:28They play small ball. They.
- 15:30Didn't have the bullpen we had though.
- 15:32No, no. No, but they still have a good
- 15:34one like probably the most comparable bullpen wise said the
- 15:37Royals of the of your time was probably is probably the Padres.
- 15:40But do they have enough starting because their starting pitching
- 15:43is all coming back from injuries.
- 15:44Like fish is saying in the private Dylan Cease has not been
- 15:47great this year and you Darvis just came back.
- 15:49Michael King just came back. So like, you know, you're
- 15:51trusting a a lot of these older guys in that set of roles.
- 15:55I agree with Errol. I think the Phillies, they were
- 15:56my pick at the start of the year.
- 15:57I think they are definitely the most dangerous because I know
- 16:00everyone says, oh, the Phillies bullpen is a question mark.
- 16:02How many good bullpens are there among the playoff teams right
- 16:04now? It's really only the Padres, the
- 16:06Mariners and. And honestly, I think they have
- 16:09the National League MVP and Kyle Schwarber, I think he's been, I
- 16:12think he's the National League MVP.
- 16:14He's been so good. As good as Juan Soto has been,
- 16:17Kyle Schwarber has been the most important player on his
- 16:21Philadelphia Phillies team. And by the way, a Philadelphia
- 16:23Phillies team that's in first place in the National League
- 16:26East to the Mets, who are right now free falling, you know,
- 16:30trying to crawl into the playoffs.
- 16:32If you would ask me who the MVP of the National League is, it's
- 16:35Kyle Schwarber. He has been unbelievable,
- 16:38unbelievable this year. Yeah, 53 home runs for a bulkier
- 16:41guy. I mean, it's not and it's not a
- 16:42Cal rally like today because he's playing, not playing the
- 16:45catcher, but he has a catcher's body like.
- 16:46Playing hold on one second. Kyle Schwarber has done this
- 16:49before. Maybe not 53 home runs, but he
- 16:51is. He has been an all around power
- 16:53hitter. I remember him with the Cubs.
- 16:54The Cubs are probably a shaking their heads while they let him
- 16:57go, but I remember when he was a catcher for the Cubs and they
- 17:00moved him to the outfield. Yeah.
- 17:01And that ruined it because Joe Madden put him there and then he
- 17:04got hurt. He had that bad injury and he
- 17:05came back during the World Series and then ended up being.
- 17:07A spider tried to play, Kelly threw it and locked up.
- 17:10I think Kyle Schwarber is by far the best player in the National
- 17:14League this year and he has a the reason why the Phillies are
- 17:16the probably the most dangerous team in in baseball, especially
- 17:19in the National League, is because of him because you could
- 17:22put him anywhere in that lineup. You could bat him first, second,
- 17:25third, 4th, 5th. The guy isn't he can hit
- 17:28lefties, he can hit righties. Go look at his numbers.
- 17:31It it's unbelievable what this guy has transformed his is the
- 17:35way he hits on the Philadelphia Phillies.
- 17:38He is the best player in the National League.
- 17:39He is the bona fide MVP for the National League.
- 17:42I last comment before you go job, I just want to say Kyle
- 17:45Schwarber, probably for a left-handed hitter too, has been
- 17:47one of the best playoff players we've seen in recent years too
- 17:49with many different teams. He was great with Boston.
- 17:51They almost made it to the World Series.
- 17:52He was amazing with the Cubs. And think about all the pressure
- 17:54with the Cubs trying to break the curse of the Billy Goat.
- 17:58Yeah, no, I mean, Philly's got the division.
- 18:00The Cubs clinched the playoff spot today.
- 18:03Cubs will be interesting to see what Kyle Tucker comes back.
- 18:05Obviously Palancia is I had a crazy year.
- 18:07The dude's arm is great. So but he's going to come back
- 18:10late. He got he got banged up.
- 18:13Padres just the starting pitching is is crazy because you
- 18:16had guys that that know you can do it, but coming off injuries
- 18:20back end. I mean offensively they they can
- 18:22score. They can do some things that
- 18:24way. I just the Brewers, it's just
- 18:27they get there and then that's about it.
- 18:29There's there's there's not enough guys on that team that
- 18:32know how to win. For me personally, I just
- 18:36they're obviously with the depth of the pitching and how they've,
- 18:39you know, been able to produce the pitching that they have.
- 18:42I I'm I'm very, very interested to see what they're going to do
- 18:45with Miz and you know, if they're going to run them out
- 18:48there And, and do you know what he said?
- 18:50I, I disagree on the bona fide, obviously.
- 18:53And you know who I'm going to say like he he goes and throws 5
- 18:57no hit innings and then hits his 50th Homer.
- 18:59There's no bona fide in what Kyle Schwarber's doing.
- 19:02He's DH ING that's it that's it. So not just that the bonafide is
- 19:07is not not even in that vocabulary when you got a guy
- 19:10going that literally tried to talk himself into staying in the
- 19:14game and then the dude gives up a hit the next inning.
- 19:16So bonafide is is not even in the question.
- 19:18It'll be it'll be a good race. It's Kyle deserving of of some
- 19:22really good accolades. 100% but five no hit innings then go go
- 19:26hit your 50th. Vegas has.
- 19:27Schwaber winning Vegas has Schwaber.
- 19:29Winning. Oh no yeah at the same time,
- 19:32like should Aaron Judge lose the the Home Run Derby or the Home
- 19:35Run Derby that MVP? No, I.
- 19:37Mean he's having a they're. Going to do everything they can
- 19:40to give the Cal rally. I just I just don't get I
- 19:42understand the catcher aspect of it, but it's act like the dudes
- 19:45curing cancer. He's just a catcher.
- 19:47That's a really good hitter. And if you look at him
- 19:49historically and numbers wise and speedy you as as the
- 19:54alphabet guy and analytical dude.
- 19:56He's not even in the he's not even in the top ten of a switch
- 19:59hitting like season. Yeah, I I think there were some
- 20:04there were some down advanced stats in the second the last two
- 20:07months of the season for him besides the home runs.
- 20:09So maybe that's. What you're it's a home run, but
- 20:11and obviously the first like top, I think the top 15 Mickey
- 20:15Mantle's like 11 of them chippers in there.
- 20:17You got Ken Singleton in the top 20.
- 20:19Like there's it's Mickey Mantle and like.
- 20:23Everybody else. Everybody else.
- 20:25Yeah. And so it's just it's what he's
- 20:29doing is crazy. And then obviously the Mariners
- 20:32record is Griffey all over the board and, you know, obviously
- 20:37not with Cal doing what he's doing.
- 20:39So yeah, I mean, it's it'll be interesting to see what, you
- 20:45know, those come down to. I I think the the races should
- 20:49be fun. It's with this little that there
- 20:52has to be something crazy that happens.
- 20:55And we've seen it before where it happens.
- 20:57And you've got a lot of these teams to where some of the most
- 21:00dangerous teams to play right now are the spoilers because
- 21:02it's like, we got nothing to play for.
- 21:04Like let's go ruin somebody's season.
- 21:06Like we've seen it. The Orioles did it to the Red
- 21:08Sox. Like we've seen that before.
- 21:10And so there's there's been plenty of times where where it
- 21:13happens and there's there's a bunch of injuries.
- 21:17There's there's literally like you don't know if they're going
- 21:20to come back or how they're going to hold up.
- 21:21What are you going to do? We saw Otani said he's not
- 21:23adverse to them, you know, playing him in the outfield.
- 21:26How do you balance that? Do you take the chance and risk
- 21:28it? I don't know.
- 21:29So it's this is a fun time. Yeah.
- 21:32And everybody's kind of the things that, you know, I've read
- 21:35and and saw. It's kind of like you don't take
- 21:38that chance. I mean, I wouldn't.
- 21:41There's no way you can bring him out of the bullpen, obviously.
- 21:45So that'll be interesting. But I think that it's shaping up
- 21:50to be kind of what we thought it was going to be.
- 21:54There might be the Mets may do something crazy.
- 21:58I mean, who knows, But there's their striking distance with
- 22:03some of those teams that that could could make some moves,
- 22:06which speedy, you said it too. It's like the Diamondbacks were
- 22:09like, all right, we're out of it.
- 22:10Like let's just yard sale the entire well, you didn't yard
- 22:14sale enough because now it's like, hey, we just played
- 22:16ourselves into a chance. Well, they were trying to buy
- 22:18high with a lot of those pitchers.
- 22:20They didn't. Besides Mel Kelly, they.
- 22:21Didn't get the. Offers they wanted, so why not
- 22:23keep them at that? Point yeah and I mean with the
- 22:26Padres, you had Nick Favetta obviously step up.
- 22:28He signed that four year deal with the Padres and you know now
- 22:32it's you get you get a little dead presidents in your pocket
- 22:35and some comfort level. It allows you to pitch, you
- 22:37know, a little bit different and with some comfort and we're
- 22:39seeing that he's always been a grinder, you know, even with the
- 22:42Red Sox and stuff like that. So this is going to be a fun
- 22:45time of the year because there's going to be somebody that, you
- 22:49know, drops the ball, no pun intended, and and we got
- 22:51somebody that sneaks in so. I also think I know a lot of
- 22:56people probably wondering why I didn't really attack the
- 22:58American League, because I already know what's going to
- 23:00happen in the American League. The Blue Jays are going to win
- 23:03the American League East. I'm not betting on the Blue
- 23:05Jays. I'm not as good as the Blue Jays
- 23:08have been really throughout the season.
- 23:11I, I still think they're not the best team in the American
- 23:14League. I still think the Yankees are
- 23:15the better team. But I, I've been very impressed
- 23:18with the Red Sox and their bullpen and what they've they've
- 23:21provided. And if the Yankees do wind up
- 23:24getting the number one seed in the the wild card, they're
- 23:27matched up against the Red Sox. So the Yankees are going to have
- 23:30to go through the Red Sox to move on.
- 23:32And that's not easy. That's not going to be an easy
- 23:36argument as a Yankee fan to see the the Red Sox and the Yankees
- 23:40playing say, oh, the Yankees are the bonafide team to knock off
- 23:43the Reds. I don't know if that's true.
- 23:44The Red Sox are young, they're hungry and they know that the
- 23:47Yankees are not a playoff hitting team.
- 23:50They have not been that way really a long time since 2009.
- 23:54Honestly, they can't hit in the playoffs.
- 23:56The fact that the Yankees made the the World Series last year,
- 23:59I thought it had a lot to do with the Yankees pitching and
- 24:02timely hitting by Giancarlo Stanton and Juan Soto.
- 24:05That's that's the and Glaber Torres too, in certain parts of
- 24:09the game, but they didn't have enough to really get there.
- 24:13The American League was just so weak.
- 24:15The Guardians were the team that matched up against the Yankees,
- 24:17the American League Championship.
- 24:19I I don't think the Guard, the Guardians aren't going to make
- 24:22the playoffs this year, so. I mean, but that that's a crazy
- 24:26that they're always in the conversation though, because
- 24:29obviously in in this is my opinion.
- 24:30This is opinions of a lot of people.
- 24:32They have the most underrated player in baseball, hands down.
- 24:35Not even a question in Rammer and Jose Ramirez, but they're
- 24:38always in the question. They're always grinders.
- 24:40I think Stephen Vogt is the right guy for that team for what
- 24:45he can do. Oh, great minds think alike
- 24:47fish. Oh, boy.
- 24:49And it just it works because that, you know, he allows them
- 24:52to be them and you know, they're not out of it.
- 24:55Like, it was funny that you brought it up saying that Goody
- 24:58cheering for the Reds because he said it.
- 24:59But I was like, dude, wouldn't you want to cheer for the
- 25:01Guardians now that you've covered them for?
- 25:04That show would be so rough if the Reds get in the playoffs and
- 25:07the Mets pull off a historic collapse.
- 25:10Oh yeah, because he'll be like, yeah, I told you so.
- 25:12And Tito and Tito obviously is that guy too.
- 25:15But yeah, they're they're always in the conversation.
- 25:19It I I'm interested to see what they who they send to the pen.
- 25:23If you know, if it plays out, if it ended today, you know, do you
- 25:27send Will Warren or Cam? Obviously you're going to run
- 25:30one and two out there and Max and and Rodon.
- 25:32So, yeah, I think the AO kind of is going to play itself into
- 25:37what it is. Red Sox it it, it could get
- 25:41interesting some of those guys that that are coming in and they
- 25:46have the experience, you know, the Bregmans of the world that
- 25:49come in. And and so then then you got the
- 25:52Astros and who knows what, what the Astros have up their sleeve
- 25:56as, as people would like to say. Well, they're getting a lot of
- 25:59their offense back. That's the biggest key with
- 26:01them. I actually was looking at the
- 26:02standings their their offense like in the league wise is very
- 26:06average. Like just looking at it now,
- 26:08getting Alvarez back, you think hopefully and you providing.
- 26:12The no, he's done. He's already done.
- 26:13Now he's they did announce that. OK.
- 26:15Yeah, they said, they said significant and he's yeah, so
- 26:20and, and he, he came back. Did you see his numbers when he
- 26:22came back? Yeah, that's what I was saying.
- 26:23Like I thought like. If he.
- 26:25Did have that another set back like that, it would be really
- 26:28lethal for what that could do to that.
- 26:29But now you're seeing it with Seattle now, climbing into that
- 26:32now. Seattle's not the dangerous team
- 26:34in the American League. The dangerous team is the
- 26:35Tigers. The Tigers are young.
- 26:38They're To me, they've got all the power in the world in that
- 26:41lineup. They can hit for average.
- 26:43I think they're as dangerous as any team in the American League
- 26:46because they have nothing to lose.
- 26:48Now, obviously that story that came out that does definitely
- 26:51gives a little bit of a brush fire for the organization.
- 26:54But what this could completely hover over what we heard over
- 26:58the last week on what happened with the Detroit Tigers over the
- 27:02last couple of years. If Detroit somehow sneaks into
- 27:04the World Series and wins the World Series this year, nobody's
- 27:07going to be talking about that, no matter how big of a story
- 27:10that became. And maybe there's more behind
- 27:13it. If Detroit wins a World Series
- 27:16or goes to the World Series and challenges whoever they match up
- 27:20against, nobody's going to be talking about it would be like
- 27:22this team is the team that being the American.
- 27:23Who's going to match up against their ace though?
- 27:26That's the problem and that's why I think they're dangerous.
- 27:29I don't know Max Freed. I I mean, and I don't know if
- 27:32that I just. Probably have the best shot.
- 27:35I don't know. I'm not talking about the
- 27:37National League. We're talking about the American
- 27:39League, Speedy. We're talking about who's coming
- 27:42out of the American League. And right now, if you look at
- 27:45all the teams that are going to be fighting to get out of the
- 27:48American League, the two teams that really, if the Yankees
- 27:52somehow get through the Red Sox, if they match up against the Red
- 27:54Sox, I think the Yankees go to the American League
- 27:56Championship. Because if they match up against
- 27:58Seattle or they're matched up against the Astros, I think
- 28:03they're better than both of those teams.
- 28:04I do, I think they're both better than both of them.
- 28:07So I think that the, in my opinion, it would be the Yankees
- 28:11and the Tigers in the American League Championship, and it
- 28:14would be Max Freed versus, you know, the name that I can never
- 28:17pronounce, so I'm not. Even going to bother.
- 28:19So I'm not even going to bother so, but the fact is right now,
- 28:25Tarek, by the way, I got it, there it is, right?
- 28:28Am I right? It's the last name we get, we
- 28:30get the first one. No, I'm not doing that anyways.
- 28:35Yeah, but the the American League is really rests.
- 28:38It rests on the Yankees getting through out of the wild card
- 28:41spot with the Red Sox if they matched up against them.
- 28:44I'm worried about the Red Sox because they got nothing to
- 28:46lose. They got all these young guys.
- 28:48They want to run right through the Yankees.
- 28:50You've heard some of the young guys that have never been in
- 28:53these playoff games against the New York Yankees telling that
- 28:56that, you know, this is what I always wanted to be a part of.
- 28:58I wanted to be a part of this, this, this banter about who's
- 29:03better, the Yankees or the Boston Red Sox.
- 29:06So that's, that's fun. That's going to be fun.
- 29:09But it's scary as a Yankee fan. You don't want to see that as a
- 29:11Yankee fan. Could you imagine this young Red
- 29:13Sox team go right through the New York Yankees in what, four
- 29:17games, three games? And, and to me, that's scary.
- 29:21And I, and I think it could happen because I don't trust if
- 29:24Aaron Judge has to show up in the playoffs, he's got to show
- 29:27up and he's got to hit, which he hasn't done.
- 29:31Yeah, and that's the one thing too.
- 29:33And you've got obviously no playoffs standing.
- 29:36But what Soto did and whether you like him or not, I don't
- 29:39really care. That's neither here nor there,
- 29:41but to you got it. You're going to have to have
- 29:43somebody like that. And that's the part that we
- 29:47don't really know if there's anybody on the Yankee lineup
- 29:51that really, you know, could have that effect that, you know,
- 29:54Soto has. Obviously, Stan, you know, Stan
- 29:57could go 5 for six with two homers, a double.
- 30:00He could also punch out six times.
- 30:02Ballinger's pretty good in the playoffs, too.
- 30:04I. Mean, yeah, that's the only one
- 30:05that that that that was where I was going is like, that's about
- 30:09and hell, who knows? Nobody even thought Trent
- 30:12Grisham was going to play as much as he had.
- 30:14I mean, coming into spring training, it was like, hey, he's
- 30:16going to play. He was a throw in Dan.
- 30:18I mean, literally like, hey, throw this guy in, like, oh, we
- 30:20don't want him. He's got 32 homers and so that
- 30:25that could happen. Belly's obviously been there
- 30:27before he gets it. I'm interested to see if they
- 30:31rush Roman Anthony back for the Red Sox, what they're going to
- 30:34do with him as far as because obliques suck, if that's really
- 30:38depending on where it is. Maybe if he wasn't so shredded
- 30:41because you can't pull fat. One of the greatest quotes.
- 30:45I think. It was by John Crook, I think.
- 30:47You sure wasn't Noah Syndergaard because he's had these oblique
- 30:50problems and that pretty much. Yeah, because career because
- 30:53he's shredded. Like there's you can't, I mean
- 30:55the dude literally and it's crazy when I actually did it,
- 30:58don't know how I did, but I did. Were you pulling on the?
- 31:03Fat, but yeah. So yeah, there it was.
- 31:06There was I had, I mean, I still got like 2-2 ABS, that's about
- 31:10it. But so I don't I.
- 31:15Gotta put you on a I gotta put you on a regiment.
- 31:17I could get you. I could get you cut off.
- 31:20I could definitely get you cut off.
- 31:21I'm good. What?
- 31:22I'm what you don't trust. Me where I'm at.
- 31:26You don't trust me. No, I don't.
- 31:27Honestly, I don't, no. I went to school for that, by
- 31:30the way. I went to school for training.
- 31:32Yeah, I'm actually right. I'm actually.
- 31:34I can read AI can read a book. It's not about, it's not about a
- 31:37book. It's the way you train yourself.
- 31:39It's the way you put yourself. In I know this I was a
- 31:41professional athlete, I get. It all right, but what so you,
- 31:44you don't think I can get you cut up?
- 31:45I, I know I could get you cut up 100%.
- 31:48You give me 3 months and you'll be cut up.
- 31:51Three months. I can do it myself all right,
- 31:53but what do I want to be cut up? For I don't know.
- 31:55I'm just anyways. But back-to-back to the
- 31:57injuries, never going raw. Yeah.
- 32:02Well, I'd be eating a lot of raw stuff that went over like a fart
- 32:04in church. Yeah, for sure.
- 32:07But yeah, I don't, I don't see, I don't see them rushing Roman
- 32:11Anthony back to get it. And there's a lot of young dudes
- 32:14in that lineup. But yeah, I just, I just wanted
- 32:18to get to the playoffs because there's going to be some crazy
- 32:20stuff that happens. And then going into the
- 32:21playoffs, yes, we're going to have the same kind of band of
- 32:26teams that we've had. Hopefully maybe there's some mix
- 32:29UPS in there and some upsets and guys go further.
- 32:32But yeah, there's there's going to be injuries that play a part.
- 32:36There's going to be people that diarrhea down their leg and lose
- 32:40a chance to get in the playoffs. What?
- 32:41Diary down the leg. What was that?
- 32:44What does that mean? Yeah, I was just talking about
- 32:46the Mets. Oh, what the hell is that?
- 32:50You've never diarrhea down your leg?
- 32:52No. The way they're playing, they
- 32:53may have to adopt them as a superstition to turn them their
- 32:56season around. By the way, Grisham just went
- 32:58deep again with a three run Homer.
- 33:01Maybe you should ask him to. Maybe you should ask him to
- 33:04train you. By the way, look at Trent
- 33:08Grisham. You don't.
- 33:10The dude's not cut up, I can guarantee you that. 2022 Mets.
- 33:15He does Trent Grisham. He does have a great mustache
- 33:18though. Yeah, I don't know about that.
- 33:20I don't like it. I mean that lip lettuce is
- 33:25fierce. Anyways, ladies and gentlemen,
- 33:28my deuce of the day, the deuce of the day.
- 33:31You log, not a log. I don't have a log, but you
- 33:34know, that sounded like diarrhea down the leg.
- 33:47I'm sorry, ladies and gentlemen, My deuce of the day goes to
- 33:50Stephen A Smith. Stephen A Smith last night went
- 33:55well. Yesterday was talking about one
- 33:58of his employees, and I mean employees, because she was one
- 34:02of his employees. And he was speaking high over
- 34:06Molly Queer. I don't, I don't watch the show.
- 34:09So I'm, I don't know much about her, but she was working with
- 34:11him for over 10 years and spoke very, very highly of her.
- 34:16But nobody knows why she resigned.
- 34:18Nobody knows why she resigned. And then over the last 24 hours,
- 34:23a story came out, which is bananas.
- 34:26And everybody knows that Stephen A Smith just got $100 million
- 34:30contract from ESPN. Well, ladies and gentlemen, I've
- 34:33got news for you. Stephen A Smith just got a
- 34:36second contract from SiriusXM radio.
- 34:40Yes, ladies and gentlemen, he just got a three-year 36,
- 34:47$1,000,000 add on. Yes, $36 million add on to his
- 34:53$100 million contract with ESPN to join Mad Dog Radio, which
- 35:00averages him now to make $40 million a year for the next
- 35:06three years. You know what that smells like?
- 35:09It smells like doggy, doggy Doo Doo.
- 35:11That's what it smells like. I cannot believe SiriusXM Radio
- 35:16is now paying him for three, 3 hours a day.
- 35:18What is this guy doing now? He doesn't write his own
- 35:20scripts. He doesn't do anything.
- 35:22He talks about football like he knows football, barely knows
- 35:25hockey, thinks he knows mixed martial arts, combat sports.
- 35:28This guy's all over the place, and I mean all over the place.
- 35:31I'd rather take a dump than listen to Stephen A Smith.
- 35:34I cannot believe SiriusXM radio. By the way, Stephen A Smith is
- 35:40making more money on Mad Dog Radio then Mayor Dog.
- 35:44How completely ridiculous does that sound for SiriusXM radio?
- 35:50Absolute Doo Doo. So my do so the day goes to
- 35:54SiriusXM Radio for allowing this mishmash garbage to be signed
- 36:01over there for three years, 12 million a year for $36 million
- 36:06for the next three years. So that's my deuce of the day.
- 36:10You can script it, you can sell it, you can flush it down the
- 36:13toilet. It's absolutely disgusting that
- 36:16this man is making $40 million a year.
- 36:18He is making more than I would say 70% of the athletes right
- 36:24now, 70% of the athletes. And he's just talking sports,
- 36:29which by the way, he only knows one of them.
- 36:31He doesn't know anything else. You think I'm going to trust
- 36:33Stephen A Smith with his with his takes on football?
- 36:37How about hockey? Remember the hockey season when
- 36:39he was on ESPN talking hockey? What are we, what are we, what
- 36:43are we doing here? What are these organizations
- 36:47doing here? I don't get it.
- 36:49And I'm not taking shots at Stephen A Smith.
- 36:51I give him a lot of respect because his personality and my
- 36:55personality are not all from one another.
- 36:58But I, I just think that I, I, if you're going to go out there
- 37:01and make that kind of money, you should know what you're talking
- 37:04about. I just don't know if he does and
- 37:06I, I don't get it. So that that's my dose of the
- 37:08day. Anyways, that's it for a show.
- 37:10Ladies and gentlemen, thank you to all the fans on all the

- 38:07but he said Monday is. Good.
- 38:08I like Daryl. He's he knows his stuff.
- 38:10Yeah, he's he's a good personality, very funny.
- 38:11So. Yeah, he is.
- 38:13And he, he loves attacking me. So you guys are like that.
- 38:16Daryl is, he's been on our show before and I've attacked his

- 38:26On Wednesdays as our our friend from the Pittsburgh Steelers,
- 38:29Mister Jack's Ferry, will be joining us on Wednesday.
- 38:31Oh I can't wait to hear Jack's bull crap that comes out of his.
- 38:35Mouth fresh off the Steelers versus Jets game.
- 38:38Please. That's the only thing you could
- 38:40brag about. That's about it.
- 38:42That debacle of a game in game number 2 was just absolutely
- 38:44pathetic and I drafted one of his running backs and he just
- 38:48absolutely embarrassed me. Yeah.
- 38:50So Jack's Berry, we are working on some big guests and you know,
