- 1:25Speaker 2: you want to say thanks to Tyson Robinson and Slat
- 1:28Speaker 2: and Shack jumping in right now, Justin Hunter. He is
- 1:31Speaker 2: the offensive coordinator associate head coach here for the Brandon
- 1:33Speaker 2: Bulldogs as he is doing clean up duty and do coach.
- 1:37Speaker 2: You guys do everything?
- 1:38Speaker 3: How are you man? Just living a dream day by day? Jake?
- 1:40Speaker 2: I appreciate you jumping in. One of the things Rod
- 1:44Speaker 2: told me, he said with Missisippi Sports Medicine, he said,
- 1:47Speaker 2: is it just me or does Tyson look different this
- 1:50Speaker 2: year in a better way? I mean, he's always looked good.
- 1:54Speaker 2: I said, he looks like a big ten running back.
- 1:56Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know what you guys have been doing,
- 1:57Speaker 2: but men, your kids look real good right now.
- 1:59Speaker 3: Yeah, No, he does.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Or he works hard in the weight room obviously you know,
- 2:03Speaker 1: really good trainer who takes care of of him, you know,
- 2:05Speaker 1: and Tyson is one of those, no matter how long
- 2:07Speaker 1: it is at practice or whatever, he's gonna go get
- 2:09Speaker 1: treatment afterwards and just make sure he's taking care of
- 2:11Speaker 1: his body. I mean, he understands, you know that that's
- 2:13Speaker 1: a big part of it.
- 2:14Speaker 3: You know.
- 2:14Speaker 1: I'm sure they've told him about all that when he
- 2:16Speaker 1: was up at Michigan and looked into all that. But
- 2:18Speaker 1: he's one of those that definitely takes care of his body,
- 2:20Speaker 1: not just when he's with us, but twenty four to seven.
- 2:23Speaker 3: And as a result, you see how he looks right now.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Absolutely how important has that become. I mean, you know
- 2:28Speaker 2: that's obviously has been in the NFL for a long time.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Colleges are doing it, but now high school athletes. For
- 2:34Speaker 2: the guys to obviously you want him to practice well,
- 2:36Speaker 2: to work out well, but then to take time after practice.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I mean I think it's huge. And Steve,
- 2:41Speaker 1: you know, the trainer here, does a really really phenomenal job.
- 2:44Speaker 1: You know, he makes sure they are not doing what
- 2:46Speaker 1: they're not supposed to be doing as far as coming
- 2:48Speaker 1: to seeing him when we're you know, film or wage
- 2:50Speaker 1: or something, but just as soon as after he stays
- 2:51Speaker 1: as long as they need, you know, they can get
- 2:53Speaker 1: there early and see him, and he has a great
- 2:56Speaker 1: room in there. To set up with anything they could
- 2:57Speaker 1: possibly need. And man, I think he does a phenomenal job.
- 3:00Speaker 1: I think he's top notch.
- 3:01Speaker 2: How obviously spring we talked to you with the Mississippi
- 3:04Speaker 2: Coaches Association Clinic. How has the summer been for you guys?
- 3:07Speaker 3: Man, it's been great. That's great. I think everybody's ready
- 3:09Speaker 3: for to get here. You're just that time.
- 3:10Speaker 1: You know, you're finishing week two of fall camp, you know,
- 3:13Speaker 1: and we actually talked about Warren Central little bit while
- 3:16Speaker 1: to go and a walk through deal because you know,
- 3:17Speaker 1: it's a little too hot to get out today and
- 3:19Speaker 1: we tried it, but it hit us pretty hard. So
- 3:21Speaker 1: when they're kind of introduce some more in Central stuff
- 3:23Speaker 1: and obviously know they're a handful had some really good
- 3:26Speaker 1: battles with with coach Morgan when it was on a
- 3:27Speaker 1: fun earlier talking about that. Just have there's been some
- 3:29Speaker 1: good games and all that. Just hey, this is what
- 3:32Speaker 1: we're going to do in a jambure This is what
- 3:33Speaker 1: y'all gonna do in a jamburee, and just try to
- 3:35Speaker 1: get out there and compete a little bit and stay
- 3:37Speaker 1: healthy for a week.
- 3:38Speaker 2: One his goal, Yeah, what do you look for in
- 3:40Speaker 2: a jamboree. I mean, obviously you don't show your whole
- 3:42Speaker 2: package on offense or defense, but what's you know, kind
- 3:45Speaker 2: of what do you want to see happening in the goals.
- 3:47Speaker 3: Of those Yeah?
- 3:48Speaker 1: Yeah, I told till the office the day. You know,
- 3:50Speaker 1: I think I didn't tell them this, but I told
- 3:52Speaker 1: them we need to what we wanted to see as
- 3:54Speaker 1: could we be the more physical football team? You know,
- 3:57Speaker 1: how could we get going as sustain drives and finished
- 3:59Speaker 1: foot point pints every time, you.
- 4:01Speaker 3: Know, and start really fast on first down.
- 4:03Speaker 1: The thing I didn't tell them that, you know, us
- 4:04Speaker 1: as coaches want to see is these kids that you know,
- 4:07Speaker 1: maybe this is their first year playing varsity football. You know,
- 4:11Speaker 1: like a like a Tommy Brumfield, who's a tenth grade
- 4:13Speaker 1: receiver with all the talent in the world, Like, how's
- 4:15Speaker 1: he going to do in the bright lights?
- 4:16Speaker 3: You know?
- 4:17Speaker 1: The two offensive linemen that weren't starters last year, how
- 4:19Speaker 1: are they gonna perform?
- 4:20Speaker 3: You know? We got a h back Wilkes Wallace, who
- 4:22Speaker 3: we love. How's he going? You know what I'm saying.
- 4:23Speaker 3: Just the guys that we hadn't seen the tape.
- 4:25Speaker 1: We've seen tape on Tyson We've seen tape on sleeve,
- 4:28Speaker 1: We've seen tape on Tallon Harvey, Carter Smith, you know
- 4:30Speaker 1: those guys.
- 4:31Speaker 3: But just what about those other guys? Are they ready?
- 4:34Speaker 3: Can they do it? Do we need to get a
- 4:35Speaker 3: backup playing all that kind of stuff?
- 4:36Speaker 1: You know? I think that's I think that's our big thing,
- 4:39Speaker 1: just playing somebody other than ourselves. Visiting with Justin Hunter,
- 4:42Speaker 1: offensive coordinator at Brandon associate head coach Thursday edition of
- 4:45Speaker 1: your program, people have asked, what is this Brandon offense
- 4:50Speaker 1: gonna look like under Justin Hunter?
- 4:51Speaker 3: Now?
- 4:52Speaker 2: I know you from just football obviously, and we've got
- 4:56Speaker 2: I think a great relationship. I know what you've done
- 4:58Speaker 2: in the past. You've put points on the board. I
- 5:00Speaker 2: was over there visit with a Clinton. We were Clinton
- 5:03Speaker 2: a couple of weeks ago, and Hammer Morgan told me
- 5:06Speaker 2: off the air, he said, uh, man, y'all got a
- 5:08Speaker 2: good coach over there.
- 5:09Speaker 3: He said, he.
- 5:09Speaker 2: Knows offensive football. What does printed his offense look like
- 5:13Speaker 2: on a Justin Hunter?
- 5:14Speaker 1: I just want us to be I want us to
- 5:16Speaker 1: be efficient. You know, I think it's it's probably the
- 5:18Speaker 1: first word, you know, Uh, talk to him all the time.
- 5:20Speaker 1: We got to be great on first down. You know,
- 5:22Speaker 1: we want to play with with with pretty good tempo,
- 5:24Speaker 1: but you can't play with tempo if you're going three
- 5:25Speaker 1: and out. So we're gonna spend a lot of focus
- 5:28Speaker 1: on first down. Uh, We're gonna try to do what
- 5:29Speaker 1: our players do best.
- 5:30Speaker 3: You know. Obviously you got Tyson and Kingston that we
- 5:34Speaker 3: feel pretty good about. We got shocked that. You know.
- 5:37Speaker 1: I just love him from maturity and a leadership standpoint. Man,
- 5:40Speaker 1: just a great, great, great kid.
- 5:42Speaker 2: Man.
- 5:42Speaker 1: I'm just I'm just wowed by him every day just
- 5:44Speaker 1: being around him. And not to mention JB get our
- 5:47Speaker 1: next guy line man. Just two kids that you know,
- 5:50Speaker 1: I mean, it is what it is when you have
- 5:52Speaker 1: a play caller and a quarterback. They got to have
- 5:54Speaker 1: a special relationship. Man and I and I I feel
- 5:57Speaker 1: like we are we have that, you know, great great kids.
- 6:01Speaker 1: But again, just be efficient. You know, we can't have
- 6:04Speaker 1: bad penalties and we can't turn the football over, and
- 6:06Speaker 1: we got to finish drives with a kick, preferably an
- 6:08Speaker 1: extra point. You know, but if we have to pump,
- 6:11Speaker 1: we have to pump. We just can't turn the football over.
- 6:13Speaker 1: We can't put our defense in a mind. But we
- 6:15Speaker 1: want to go as fast as we can possibly go,
- 6:18Speaker 1: but again, we can't do that if we're not efficient,
- 6:20Speaker 1: especially on first down.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Yeah, Slayton was referencing. He said, the biggest difference is
- 6:24Speaker 2: the playbook has gotten thicker this year. So obviously, but
- 6:27Speaker 2: how do you know, you could be the best offensive
- 6:30Speaker 2: coordinator or offensive mind in the world, right, regardless of football,
- 6:33Speaker 2: but getting it to what your kids can actually digest
- 6:37Speaker 2: and perform, you know, consistently on the field, correct, right, right.
- 6:41Speaker 1: I think a big benefit we've had is just doing
- 6:43Speaker 1: the morning practices. You know, we go five to forty
- 6:45Speaker 1: five in the morning, we practice, and then they go
- 6:48Speaker 1: shy or we shower, go to school, and then the
- 6:50Speaker 1: last block we get them and we've already watched that film.
- 6:53Speaker 1: We have notes on that film, so we're either walked
- 6:55Speaker 1: through and film or both or whatever. So it's happening
- 6:58Speaker 1: pretty quick as far as hey, this is what it
- 7:00Speaker 1: looked like, this is what we've got, this is what
- 7:01Speaker 1: we did good. This we got to work on, and
- 7:03Speaker 1: then off of that, then you got the next morning script.
- 7:06Speaker 1: So it's just I don't want to say it's like
- 7:07Speaker 1: a college camp, but that's kind of how it's being
- 7:09Speaker 1: in a nutshell, you know. And I think that's I
- 7:12Speaker 1: think that's very beneficial because they're not having to practice
- 7:14Speaker 1: at three, get done at five, and then wait till
- 7:16Speaker 1: the next afternoon. They're getting it pretty quick as far
- 7:18Speaker 1: as feedback and stuff goes. And I think I think
- 7:20Speaker 1: we're picking up on it really really quick. I don't
- 7:22Speaker 1: feel like it's a lot, you know. I feel like it's, uh,
- 7:25Speaker 1: we're throwing a lot of stuff at them. But obviously,
- 7:26Speaker 1: week to week we're not gonna do all that type thing.
- 7:28Speaker 1: But just with the way things are now, with when
- 7:30Speaker 1: you get the summers and then you get these two weeks,
- 7:32Speaker 1: I mean, you've got a lot of time to practice football,
- 7:35Speaker 1: you know. So let's just see what they can do
- 7:36Speaker 1: and what they can't do, and then what we like
- 7:38Speaker 1: we'll keep, and what we don't we.
- 7:39Speaker 3: Want, you know.
- 7:39Speaker 2: And it sounds like what you guys are doing. I
- 7:42Speaker 2: haven't heard a lot of schools talk doing about doing
- 7:44Speaker 2: it that way. But it sounds like a modified to
- 7:46Speaker 2: two days of sorts, uh kind of maybe maybe you know,
- 7:51Speaker 2: I say modify it, right, yeah, but to make sure
- 7:53Speaker 2: we say modified, yeah, absolutely absolutely. Look I'm old enough
- 7:56Speaker 2: to remember teams used to do three days, right. I
- 7:59Speaker 2: mean you know you you would go a Saturday sometimes
- 8:01Speaker 2: and you would go morning, you would go after lunch,
- 8:04Speaker 2: and then you'd come back under the light.
- 8:05Speaker 3: Man and they might put us under the jail. And
- 8:07Speaker 3: we're trying to do that now.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Can't do that, right, can't do that. Visit with Justin Hunter.
- 8:11Speaker 2: He is the officsive coordinator here at Brandon. Thursday edition
- 8:13Speaker 2: of the program, One more question, we'll get you on
- 8:15Speaker 2: your way. How's it been here for you? I know
- 8:17Speaker 2: there's a lot of expectations people excited about you being here.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Well, I appreciate that, I really do. And you know,
- 8:22Speaker 1: we're we're a family that's all in with Brandon right now.
- 8:25Speaker 1: My wife's up there teaching algebra. My daughter is playing
- 8:29Speaker 1: junior high volleyball and junior varsity softball at the boys
- 8:32Speaker 1: in the fourth grade.
- 8:33Speaker 3: And he's telling me about new friends he's making every day.
- 8:35Speaker 3: You know, we was.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Watching volleyball last night here against Madison. Shout out to
- 8:39Speaker 1: the baby Dogs with a big win. Monday night, we
- 8:41Speaker 1: was in Clinton watching volleyball. Was able to beat Clinton.
- 8:44Speaker 1: You know, just was watching the lives from My little
- 8:47Speaker 1: boy had a baseball practice Tuesday, so we wasn't here
- 8:49Speaker 1: to watch the varsity volleyball team.
- 8:51Speaker 3: Was keeping up with my phone, you know.
- 8:52Speaker 1: So I mean it's just, you know, we're just kind
- 8:54Speaker 1: of all in right now, you know, and we're a
- 8:56Speaker 1: family that everywhere ever being we wanted to be all in,
- 8:58Speaker 1: just be big community and and everything.
- 9:00Speaker 3: But we're enjoying every second of it. Man, just can't
- 9:02Speaker 3: wait for Friday nights. And that volleyball's fun too, it
- 9:04Speaker 3: oh man, Yeah they're pretty good too.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Yeah, good how they are? Justin Hunter on your radio, Coach,

- 9:37Speaker 4: You kind of learn your body at a young age,
- 9:39Speaker 4: and if you want to perform at the best, your
