The Questions Hanging Over The Death Of Ghislaine Maxwell's Former Brother In law Al Seckel · The Epstein Chronicles

• 0:00
Speaker 1: What's up, everyone, and welcome back to the Epstein Chronicles.
• 0:05
Speaker 1: The Maxwell family sure does have a lot of people
• 0:08
Speaker 1: close to them. End up committing suicide, don't they? We
• 0:12
Speaker 1: had Robert Maxwell, Jeffrey Epstein, Jean-Luc Brunel. And today we're
• 0:17
Speaker 1: going to talk about another person that was close to
• 0:20
Speaker 1: them who allegedly took their own life. And that person
• 0:25
Speaker 1: is Al Seckle. Alsecco was married to Isabel Maxwell and
• 0:34
Speaker 1: allegedly took a header from a hundred foot cliff in France. Well,
• 0:39
Speaker 1: seven years later, it is now declared that that incident
• 0:44
Speaker 1: was in fact a suicide. So let's get into this
• 0:48
Speaker 1: article from the Daily Mail and let's see what the
• 0:51
Speaker 1: hell is going on here. Headline. a hand and a
• 0:56
Speaker 1: foot were missing, probably eaten by wild boars. Mysterious death
• 1:00
Speaker 1: of Ghislaine Maxwell's conman brother-in-law is finally declared a suicide
• 1:06
Speaker 1: seven years after he jumped to his death from a
• 1:09
Speaker 1: hundred foot cliff in France. Now look, When you're surrounded
• 1:13
Speaker 1: by con men, swindlers, scumbags, chances are some of them
• 1:17
Speaker 1: are going to commit suicide. But every single one of them,
• 1:21
Speaker 1: all of the people who have secrets and hold the keys,
• 1:24
Speaker 1: they're all just dying in troves, I guess. The author
• 1:31
Speaker 1: of this article is Rory Mulholland. The body of Glenn
• 1:38
Speaker 1: Maxwell's con man brother-in-law lay rotting for weeks at the
• 1:42
Speaker 1: foot of a 100-foot-high cliff after his apparent suicide, DailyMail.com
• 1:47
Speaker 1: can exclusively reveal. It was originally believed Al Seckle may
• 1:52
Speaker 1: have faked his own death when he disappeared seven years ago,
• 1:55
Speaker 1: but now DailyMail.com has obtained his death certificate and can
• 2:00
Speaker 1: confirm his demise. When this story was breaking... Originally, when
• 2:05
Speaker 1: they were talking about Al Seckle. Typical story. When we're,
• 2:10
Speaker 1: you know, dealing with Epstein and Maxwell. Another one of
• 2:13
Speaker 1: these con men. Another person who had a pumped up
• 2:16
Speaker 1: opinion of himself. So, is it possible he committed suicide
• 2:20
Speaker 1: after scamming all of these people? Of course it is.
• 2:23
Speaker 1: Same as Robert Maxwell. Same as Jeffrey Epstein. But... Until
• 2:29
Speaker 1: we have the definitive evidence one way or the other, well,
• 2:33
Speaker 1: questions remain. Now with Seckle, you have the official narrative
• 2:37
Speaker 1: coming out saying he did in fact jump to his death,
• 2:40
Speaker 1: which is, again, very possible. When you're feeling the walls
• 2:44
Speaker 1: close in, you're involved in some kind of scheme or plot,
• 2:48
Speaker 1: stealing millions of dollars, whatever it is, you know, you're
• 2:52
Speaker 1: not thinking right. And you're looking at a short solution
• 2:56
Speaker 1: for a long-term problem, though. and some of these people
• 2:59
Speaker 1: are just so mentally beat up, or they know that
• 3:03
Speaker 1: there's no way out for them, and they decide to
• 3:07
Speaker 1: kill themselves. Seckle has been described as an international man
• 3:13
Speaker 1: of mystery, like Jeffrey Epstein, He claimed academic credentials he
• 3:17
Speaker 1: did not have, and came to a violent end near Saint-Cirque-la-Popie,
• 3:23
Speaker 1: a tourist village known as one of the prettiest in France,
• 3:26
Speaker 1: 80 miles north of Toulouse. Now, I've never been to France,
• 3:31
Speaker 1: but I'm guessing this place is absolutely beautiful. This dude
• 3:37
Speaker 1: ends up killing himself 80 miles from this place. And
• 3:43
Speaker 1: his body was sitting at the bottom of this cliff.
• 3:46
Speaker 1: Nobody happened by it. Nobody saw it. Nothing. Again, another
• 3:51
Speaker 1: one of these crazy stories where things don't really seem
• 3:54
Speaker 1: to add up. It was the smell of putrefaction that
• 4:00
Speaker 1: eventually led to the corpse, former deputy mayor Roland Gouraud
• 4:04
Speaker 1: told DailyMail.com. So this dude was in the elements, rotting away,
• 4:10
Speaker 1: and somebody caught a stench of this stanky dude, and
• 4:12
Speaker 1: that was it. They found the body, and he was located.
• 4:17
Speaker 1: The body had been lying for weeks in bushes at
• 4:19
Speaker 1: the bottom of a cliff from which Seckle, 56, had
• 4:23
Speaker 1: apparently thrown himself. The circumstances of Seckle's death have long
• 4:27
Speaker 1: been a mystery. In 2019, the Daily Beast reported that
• 4:32
Speaker 1: it could not locate any officials in the town where
• 4:35
Speaker 1: Seckle was last known to live who had any report
• 4:38
Speaker 1: of his death. And during that time, there was a
• 4:41
Speaker 1: bunch of rumor and innuendo that he did, that in fact,
• 4:44
Speaker 1: he was on the run, you know, going to start
• 4:46
Speaker 1: a new life, the whole thing. But never any evidence
• 4:50
Speaker 1: to back any of that up. It was just innuendo.
• 4:55
Speaker 1: Before he disappeared, he knew the tablet was planning to
• 4:58
Speaker 1: publish a mammoth 5,000-word article exposing him for conning people
• 5:03
Speaker 1: out of the thousands of dollars in a racket to
• 5:05
Speaker 1: buy rare books. So we talked about Seckle a while
• 5:10
Speaker 1: back on the program, and I still feel the same way.
• 5:13
Speaker 1: I'm guessing, and it's my guess, obviously, that he did
• 5:16
Speaker 1: kill himself. This dude was a fraudster to the... top degree,
• 5:22
Speaker 1: and he understood that there was no way out for
• 5:24
Speaker 1: him here. And the only way he could see to
• 5:27
Speaker 1: get out from underneath all of this and not end
• 5:30
Speaker 1: up doing serious jail time was to kill himself. Sometimes
• 5:33
Speaker 1: it is just what it is, right? So I'm pretty
• 5:37
Speaker 1: sure that this isn't some kind of, you know, cover
• 5:41
Speaker 1: up or anything like that. Just a guy who was
• 5:45
Speaker 1: at the end of the road and felt like he
• 5:47
Speaker 1: had no other way out. He had initially cooperated with
• 5:53
Speaker 1: author Mark Oppenheimer, but later stopped talking to him. The
• 5:56
Speaker 1: piece was published on June 20th, 11 days before his
• 6:00
Speaker 1: body was found. Again, it adds up, right? When you
• 6:03
Speaker 1: look at it, the story had been published already. It's
• 6:07
Speaker 1: not like Seckle was an asset that we know of.
• 6:10
Speaker 1: He wasn't, you know, running secrets for the CIA or
• 6:13
Speaker 1: MI6 or the Mossad. just another failed businessman, another liar
• 6:19
Speaker 1: who got caught up in his own hubris and saw
• 6:22
Speaker 1: the writing on the wall, unfortunately. Seckle claimed to be
• 6:26
Speaker 1: the husband of Ghislaine's older sister, Isabel Maxwell. Isabel was
• 6:30
Speaker 1: a fixture at Ghislaine's sensational weeks-long trial in New York,
• 6:35
Speaker 1: appearing in one of her trademark berets virtually every day
• 6:39
Speaker 1: as she supported her scandal-ridden sibling, She showed up in
• 6:42
Speaker 1: those berets looking like a character from one of the old, like, cartoons, right? Oh, oui, oui.
• 6:50
Speaker 1: Cool beret. What are you doing? I mean, don't you have, like,
• 6:53
Speaker 1: a stylist or something? Beret. What are you, Pepe Le Pew? Ghislaine, 60,
• 7:00
Speaker 1: was found guilty in December on five sex trafficking counts,
• 7:04
Speaker 1: which carry a potential of a 65-year prison term. She
• 7:07
Speaker 1: will be sentenced in June and is currently in custody
• 7:10
Speaker 1: in the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York. But
• 7:16
Speaker 1: Seckle had never divorced his third wife, Alice Clark, so
• 7:20
Speaker 1: any marriage to Isabel would have been bigamous. He had
• 7:23
Speaker 1: previously been married to model and actress Denise Lewis, who
• 7:27
Speaker 1: had dated Princess Diana's lover, Dodi Fayed. I mean, don't
• 7:32
Speaker 1: these people know that there are other people in the
• 7:34
Speaker 1: world than the people that are in their circles? It's
• 7:37
Speaker 1: like a gigantic show of incest with these people. Seckle
• 7:44
Speaker 1: told the tablet he couldn't remember the date of his
• 7:47
Speaker 1: marriage to Maxwell, 71. I don't keep the dates in
• 7:50
Speaker 1: my head, he said, as he guessed it was around 2007.
• 7:54
Speaker 1: So what is going on with the Maxwell family anyway?
• 7:58
Speaker 1: Why are you marrying this guy? Did he show you
• 8:01
Speaker 1: paperwork that he wasn't married to his ex-wife? Are you
• 8:04
Speaker 1: cool being a bigamist with him? There are just so
• 8:07
Speaker 1: many questions. And unfortunately, folks, we're never going to get
• 8:10
Speaker 1: the answers. The Maxwell family is never going to be forthcoming.
• 8:14
Speaker 1: They're never going to clue anybody in on what went down.
• 8:17
Speaker 1: They're never going to give away any of the inner
• 8:20
Speaker 1: family secrets. Confirmation of Seckles' suicide is the latest twist
• 8:28
Speaker 1: in the trail of weird deaths that has followed the Maxwells.
• 8:32
Speaker 1: The media tycoon Robert Maxwell, 68, was found dead in
• 8:35
Speaker 1: the sea in 1991 after disappearing from his yacht off
• 8:40
Speaker 1: the Canary Islands. Look, how many people are going to
• 8:44
Speaker 1: go to disappear status around these folks? Suicide, death, all
• 8:50
Speaker 1: of it. See, what happens is, when you play games
• 8:54
Speaker 1: with people such as this, and you're involved with people
• 8:57
Speaker 1: such as this, there really aren't any other results for you.
• 9:02
Speaker 1: Prison death. Pretty much how it ends up for you.
• 9:05
Speaker 1: Or how it should end up for you, anyway. His daughter, Ghislaine,
• 9:11
Speaker 1: one-time lover Jeffrey Epstein, 66, was found hanged in his
• 9:15
Speaker 1: New York prison cell in 2019 as he awaited trial
• 9:19
Speaker 1: for sex trafficking. And in February this year, Jean-Luc Brunel, 75,
• 9:25
Speaker 1: a French modeling agent and close Epstein associate, was found
• 9:29
Speaker 1: hanged in his Paris prison cell. He was being held
• 9:32
Speaker 1: on suspicion of the rape and sex trafficking of minors.
• 9:36
Speaker 1: Now look, it could all just be a coincidence, right?
• 9:39
Speaker 1: All of these suicides piling up around the Maxwells. Or
• 9:44
Speaker 1: it could be having an association with them is literally deadly.
• 9:50
Speaker 1: That grisly list has now been joined by the confirmation
• 9:55
Speaker 1: of the suicide of Isabel Maxwell's husband. New York-born Seckle?
• 10:00
Speaker 1: whose mother was a refugee from the Nazis, claimed to
• 10:03
Speaker 1: be the world's greatest collector of optical illusions and gave
• 10:07
Speaker 1: a 2004 TED Talk on the topic that has been
• 10:10
Speaker 1: viewed 2.6 million times. He was also an atheist who
• 10:15
Speaker 1: co-created the Darwin fish logo. Okay, fine, that's great, but
• 10:20
Speaker 1: You know, it cracks me up when you look at
• 10:23
Speaker 1: all of these people, right, who have done these TED Talks,
• 10:26
Speaker 1: who have been involved with Epstein. Sure seems to be
• 10:29
Speaker 1: a lot of them people as well, don't there? I mean,
• 10:31
Speaker 1: what's going on over at these TED Talks? He used
• 10:38
Speaker 1: Isabel Maxwell to help build up a circle of influential
• 10:41
Speaker 1: and powerful friends in California where he passed himself off
• 10:45
Speaker 1: as an Ivy League graduate and doctorate candidate at Caltech,
• 10:51
Speaker 1: the prestigious California Institute of Technology. Seckle shared Epstein's passion
• 10:56
Speaker 1: for science and in 2010 hosted a scientific conference on
• 11:00
Speaker 1: Little St. James, Epstein's private Caribbean island. Does that shock anybody?
• 11:06
Speaker 1: Should anybody be shocked? that there's these ties that bind.
• 11:12
Speaker 1: All of these people, Seckle, the Maxwells, they all knew
• 11:17
Speaker 1: what Epstein was, and yet they continued to use his island,
• 11:22
Speaker 1: continued to associate with him, and in the case of
• 11:24
Speaker 1: Glenn Maxwell, well, we know, continued to conspire with him.
• 11:31
Speaker 1: He used his many high-placed contacts to sell rare books
• 11:34
Speaker 1: to wealthy customers, whom he cheated out of tens of
• 11:37
Speaker 1: thousands of dollars. Sounds like a hell of a guy, huh?
• 11:42
Speaker 1: KLT was possibly to flee lawsuits that Seckle and Isabelle
• 11:48
Speaker 1: moved to France in 2010. It is believed they lived
• 11:51
Speaker 1: in a chateau near Le Roc-Jarreau, 50 miles northwest of
• 11:55
Speaker 1: where his body was found. So... They moved back to
• 11:59
Speaker 1: France to avoid these lawsuits, and they were living in
• 12:03
Speaker 1: this chateau. I'm guessing living the life, right? The high life, rich, opulence,
• 12:11
Speaker 1: close to the ocean, you know, a dream life for
• 12:15
Speaker 1: anybody else. But this scumbag was living there because he
• 12:18
Speaker 1: was hiding from people that he had cheated. Saint-Circ-le-Paupay mayor,
• 12:24
Speaker 1: Gerard Miguel, told Mail Online that Isabelle Maxwell was turned
• 12:29
Speaker 1: up at his office in 2015 to get a copy
• 12:32
Speaker 1: of Seckles' death certificate. The document lists her as Seckles' wife. Well,
• 12:37
Speaker 1: how could that possibly be, if he was already married
• 12:40
Speaker 1: when he married her? Talk about a gigantic shit sandwich.
• 12:44
Speaker 1: But it should come as no shock. All of these
• 12:47
Speaker 1: people that are involved with Epstein, the Maxwells, they're all borderline, like,
• 12:52
Speaker 1: mentally ill. Seriously. A handwritten additional note on the document
• 12:58
Speaker 1: specifies that July 1st, 2015 was the date the death
• 13:02
Speaker 1: was recorded and not the actual date of the death,
• 13:06
Speaker 1: as Vaughn died weeks earlier. the death certificate and speculation
• 13:11
Speaker 1: that Seckle faked his own death in order to go
• 13:13
Speaker 1: under the radar to hide from people or police who
• 13:16
Speaker 1: might be looking for him. Well, I mean, that might
• 13:20
Speaker 1: be the case, but does it tell us anything about,
• 13:22
Speaker 1: you know, if somebody shoved this dude off of this mountain?
• 13:25
Speaker 1: I mean, I don't mean to be so upfront here,
• 13:27
Speaker 1: but let's be honest. When we're dealing with Maxwell and
• 13:31
Speaker 1: Epstein and whoever the hell else this guy was scamming,
• 13:34
Speaker 1: that has to be a question that's asked at the
• 13:36
Speaker 1: very least. A car that Seckle had rented in the
• 13:41
Speaker 1: nearby town of Brive-la-Gallard was found in a parking lot
• 13:45
Speaker 1: of Saint-Cirque-la-Popille. I found the car in the park facing
• 13:49
Speaker 1: out towards the village, with a view over the village
• 13:52
Speaker 1: and the valley beyond, said Pierre Yves Bessac, the village's
• 13:57
Speaker 1: municipal technical manager. The doors were unlocked and the keys
• 14:00
Speaker 1: were in the ignition, he said. That was, of course,
• 14:03
Speaker 1: very unusual. Yeah, that definitely is unusual. Why would you
• 14:06
Speaker 1: leave the keys in your car and the doors unlocked
• 14:10
Speaker 1: if you planned on coming back? A missing person report
• 14:16
Speaker 1: had been filed for Seckle, and police had been informed
• 14:19
Speaker 1: that the car he had rented had not been returned.
• 14:22
Speaker 1: I was amazed when about 20 vehicles turned up after
• 14:26
Speaker 1: we reported the vehicle, said Deputy Mayor Garou. Police scoured
• 14:31
Speaker 1: the village and surrounding countryside. to try to locate Seckle
• 14:35
Speaker 1: in the following weeks, sometimes using sniffer dogs. Didn't work
• 14:39
Speaker 1: out so well, huh? The sniffer dogs might have had
• 14:42
Speaker 1: the wrong nose attachment on or something. How don't you
• 14:45
Speaker 1: smell this dude's decomposing body down in the bushes? A
• 14:50
Speaker 1: team of police climbers scaled many of the local cliffs.
• 14:53
Speaker 1: The villages perched on one, but found no body. Garou
• 14:57
Speaker 1: was the was the Gender Arms when they finally found
• 15:02
Speaker 1: the corpse at the foot of the 100-foot high cliff.
• 15:05
Speaker 1: It was about two miles from the lot where Seckle
• 15:08
Speaker 1: had left his rental vehicle. More times than not, when
• 15:11
Speaker 1: people go missing and end up killing themselves, they're found
• 15:14
Speaker 1: not too far away from wherever the vehicle was parked.
• 15:17
Speaker 1: You saw the same thing with Brian Laundrie. His body
• 15:20
Speaker 1: was found relatively close to where his vehicle would have
• 15:24
Speaker 1: been parked. He had walked along narrow country roads and
• 15:29
Speaker 1: passed to a spot above a couple of houses on
• 15:32
Speaker 1: the bank of the Lot River below. There he climbed
• 15:35
Speaker 1: over a low stone wall that lined the road and
• 15:37
Speaker 1: went to the edge of the cliff before plunging to
• 15:42
Speaker 1: his death. A hand and a foot were missing, probably
• 15:46
Speaker 1: eaten by wild boars or foxes, Garot told thedailymail.com at
• 15:50
Speaker 1: the spot where the body was found. I mean, okay,
• 15:54
Speaker 1: if that's what you say happened, but How can you
• 15:57
Speaker 1: be sure that that's what he did? Nobody shoved him. Now,
• 16:01
Speaker 1: I don't find it likely. Remember, I'm saying, how do
• 16:03
Speaker 1: we know, though? These investigations are never as thorough as
• 16:09
Speaker 1: they should be. He said the body was so badly
• 16:14
Speaker 1: decayed that it had no recognizable face. It was only
• 16:18
Speaker 1: the clothes holding it together when they put it on
• 16:21
Speaker 1: a stretcher, he said, adding that the police were able
• 16:23
Speaker 1: to identify it using DNA. Talk about a grisly scene.
• 16:28
Speaker 1: Imagine being one of these first responders and having to
• 16:31
Speaker 1: deal with this kind of thing. The body basically melted
• 16:34
Speaker 1: off of the bones. Why he should have come to
• 16:38
Speaker 1: commit suicide, which the death was treated as, to Saint-Cirque-le-Pope
• 16:43
Speaker 1: remains a mystery, as do the reasons that pushed him
• 16:46
Speaker 1: to take his own life. I have heard, but cannot confirm,
• 16:49
Speaker 1: that he was splitting up from his wife, said Mayor Miguel.
• 16:53
Speaker 1: Isabel Maxwell was not the only one who contacted the
• 16:56
Speaker 1: mayor's office regarding Seckle. So that's pretty interesting. He was
• 17:00
Speaker 1: getting divorced from Isabel Maxwell. I mean, we are dealing
• 17:03
Speaker 1: with the Maxwell family. Did he have a slip or,
• 17:06
Speaker 1: you know, something else happened to him? Interpol got in
• 17:11
Speaker 1: touch three separate times to seek confirmation of his death.
• 17:14
Speaker 1: They had been looking into a scam involving rare books
• 17:17
Speaker 1: in Italy that Seckle was linked to, said Gouraud. Isabel
• 17:21
Speaker 1: Maxwell filed for bankruptcy in Britain less than six months
• 17:25
Speaker 1: after Seckle's body was found. Filed for bankruptcy, huh? The Maxwells,
• 17:31
Speaker 1: while she's still living in her chateau, living it up,
• 17:34
Speaker 1: swimming around in her dad's money. But she's gonna file
• 17:36
Speaker 1: for bankruptcy. Look, folks, my advice is don't get involved
• 17:40
Speaker 1: with people like the Maxwells. Don't get involved with people
• 17:44
Speaker 1: like Jeffrey Epstein, because it sure seems that you have
• 17:47
Speaker 1: two fates if you do. One involves a prison cell.
• 17:51
Speaker 1: The other involves death. All right, folks, that's going to
• 17:56
Speaker 1: do it for this episode. If you'd like to contact me,
• 17:59
Speaker 1: you can do that at bobbycapucci at protonmail.com. That's B-O-B-B-Y-C-A-P-U-C-C-I

Speaker 1: at protonmail.com. You can also find me on Twitter at
• 18:11
Speaker 1: B-O-B-B-Y underscore C-A-P-U-C-C-I. The article that we discussed can be
• 18:19
Speaker 1: found in the description box. All right, folks, I'll be
• 18:22
Speaker 1: back later on. I hope that all of you have
• 18:24
  Speaker 1: a great day.
