- 0:12Speaker 1: It's like they It's like Hollywood, everybody got daddy issues.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Everybody got house issues. Well, listen, Renovating a house the
- 0:20Speaker 1: most common thing. I know a couple of people going
- 0:22Speaker 1: through this. People, it's so stressful, and you're you're going
- 0:26Speaker 1: through it. Well, we're not renovating by choice, though, I
- 0:29Speaker 1: mean like we kind of have to renovate, like gas
- 0:32Speaker 1: lines were put in improperly, Like yo, whoever owned this
- 0:36Speaker 1: place before us or whoever? I don't know, man, Like
- 0:40Speaker 1: this place was not taken care of. And I feel
- 0:43Speaker 1: like Tom Hanks and my wife is Shelley Long and
- 0:47Speaker 1: money pity is the money Pit money Pit for those
- 0:50Speaker 1: of you too young to know the reference a classic
- 0:52Speaker 1: Tom Hanks film, Money Pit. You get a chance see
- 0:55Speaker 1: the movie. Well you look handsome, that's all that matters. Right,
- 0:58Speaker 1: I don't feel handsome right now? I feel worn right,
- 1:02Speaker 1: go on, feel I feel beaten, Go ahead, I feel draft.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Can I help you turn it around? No? You cannot
- 1:12Speaker 1: the Only thing that's gonna help me turn it around,
- 1:14Speaker 1: is if we do a good freaking podcast we're gonnarea
- 1:18Speaker 1: and we bring in john freaking see McGinley. The legend
- 1:25Speaker 1: is here. Do you want to go right to bringing
- 1:26Speaker 1: him in? He's here. We should shoot the ship with
- 1:29Speaker 1: him so he doesn't sit in the green room. All right,
- 1:32Speaker 1: let's bring Johnny c McGinley and everyone America's favorite actor
- 1:37Speaker 1: on the planet. It's coming in. Who little boys and girls,
- 1:44Speaker 1: there is is Hi Zachie, Hi Dandal, good to see.
- 1:48Speaker 1: How are you doing you handsome? Look how ripped he is?
- 1:50Speaker 1: How are you fi? I missed you the other night?
- 1:54Speaker 1: Oh man, I missed you the other night. I got ripped?
- 1:56Speaker 1: He is Donald. It just doesn't go away, audience, you
- 1:59Speaker 1: can see this. But the man is more ripped than
- 2:02Speaker 1: fucking average. He's like the rock. He's like that. He's
- 2:06Speaker 1: like an Irish rock. He is strong. Dude. I have
- 2:11Speaker 1: so many questions and so many things to say about
- 2:13Speaker 1: this episode. I can't even tell you. Well, we're gonna
- 2:16Speaker 1: get into it. We're gonna get into it. But Johnny's
- 2:19Speaker 1: a bliss. Johnny genuinely listens to the podcast, and he
- 2:22Speaker 1: loves the podcast. And he texts me all these nice
- 2:24Speaker 1: things and Johnny just so we can follow up, because
- 2:27Speaker 1: Johnny was at the event where Harrison Ford was and
- 2:31Speaker 1: and and Donald never got a chance to use what
- 2:33Speaker 1: he had rehearsed. Johnny right, he was never he never
- 2:36Speaker 1: got a chance to to You heard him run drills
- 2:39Speaker 1: with me, and he never got a chance to do it. Donald,
- 2:42Speaker 1: You you doing that improv with Zachy uh in the
- 2:46Speaker 1: episode prior to this one was Comedy Gold, Thank you.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Zachie told me about it and and his pitch was
- 2:54Speaker 1: really good. And then you two getting after it and
- 2:57Speaker 1: Zachie you doing Harrison's pretty good. Although someone it's pretty dark.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Someone told me, I sound like Baine, but it's somewhere
- 3:06Speaker 1: between Baine and Harrison Ford. Get right in there. Burn
- 3:10Speaker 1: was more like this, and you could Donald, you couldn't
- 3:15Speaker 1: come though, you didn't get because we had a blackout
- 3:19Speaker 1: power outage in our neighborhood and your kids weren't having it.
- 3:23Speaker 1: I can't leave my kids with the babysitter. My kids
- 3:26Speaker 1: are very young. I can't leave my kids with the
- 3:28Speaker 1: babysitter in a dark, cold house. Couldn't you have given
- 3:32Speaker 1: them flashlights and said daddy wants to go talk to
- 3:34Speaker 1: Harrison Ford. You know what I could have. I made
- 3:40Speaker 1: an executive decision as a father and instead of emotionally
- 3:45Speaker 1: scarring my children for my own personal benefit, right decided
- 3:51Speaker 1: to do the right thing like Spike Lee and stay
- 3:54Speaker 1: home with them. Zachie Zackie also had a blackout. Neo
- 3:58Speaker 1: also had a house guess, Josh Raydon, who I love,
- 4:01Speaker 1: and they they had a little bit of a tiff
- 4:03Speaker 1: at the party because Zach trying to direct Josh back
- 4:07Speaker 1: into his house as a guest. Yeah, it was pretty alleged.
- 4:12Speaker 1: It was completely dysfunctional. Johnny was privyed, so me and
- 4:15Speaker 1: Josh arguing because my power was out too and I
- 4:18Speaker 1: was going to go home, and he was like, well,
- 4:19Speaker 1: I'm gonna stay longer, and I was like okay. It
- 4:21Speaker 1: was like a couple's fight, and He's like, well, how
- 4:23Speaker 1: am I? And Johnny was in the middle. It was
- 4:26Speaker 1: literally like a comedy sketch, Johnny sitting in the middle
- 4:28Speaker 1: and Josh was like, how am I going to get
- 4:29Speaker 1: in if the powers out? And I go, well, the
- 4:32Speaker 1: gate probably should work. I think it's got a battery pack,
- 4:35Speaker 1: and he's like, well, what if it doesn't. I'm like, well,
- 4:37Speaker 1: then come to the main door. Which door I go?
- 4:39Speaker 1: Then you know, the door, the front door, and then
- 4:41Speaker 1: put the code in, and I'm like, Johnny, this is
- 4:44Speaker 1: the worst Airbnb guest I've ever had. He's and then
- 4:47Speaker 1: Johnny was just cracking up and picture John's head just
- 4:50Speaker 1: like ping ponging back and forth with me. And Raydon
- 4:53Speaker 1: got into this fight, and I'm like, just climb the fence.
- 4:55Speaker 1: He's like, I'm not climbing the fucking fence in the dark,
- 4:59Speaker 1: and I I go Johnny would climb the fence, and
- 5:01Speaker 1: Johnny Nazy goes I would I climb the fence. Those
- 5:06Speaker 1: are two different house guests, so different. Johnny I tried
- 5:10Speaker 1: to shame him. I'm like, look at john He's ripped.
- 5:12Speaker 1: He'd climb the fence. He's like, yeah, I'm not ripped
- 5:14Speaker 1: like that. What's the code for the front door? Having
- 5:18Speaker 1: having you two in an argument was that it was
- 5:21Speaker 1: it was made me happy. It made me happy. Well, Johnny, Okay, wait,
- 5:25Speaker 1: hold up, was fucking Harrison Ford there? Obviously? Yeah? Obviously
- 5:30Speaker 1: is it true that jay z was there? John No,
- 5:33Speaker 1: I lied to you about jay z Y. I spent
- 5:35Speaker 1: all my time with Harrison. I don't know. No, I
- 5:37Speaker 1: didn't see jay Z. He wasn't there. No, I was
- 5:39Speaker 1: fucking with him john and I told him that he
- 5:41Speaker 1: missed the great party Allen was Harrison there, but jay
- 5:43Speaker 1: Z was there. First thing I said to Harrison I said, Harrison,
- 5:46Speaker 1: you're so good on Billy's show. And he goes, oh,
- 5:49Speaker 1: is it Billy's show? Now? Yeah. I love people that
- 6:01Speaker 1: take the piss out of Bill because very few people do.
- 6:04Speaker 1: So I love people that like like Harrison. It'll be like, oh,
- 6:06Speaker 1: it's your show. I first of all, it was so
- 6:11Speaker 1: great to see you, man, I really it made me
- 6:13Speaker 1: so clear how much I missed you and how much
- 6:16Speaker 1: I love you and how much I love chatting with you.
- 6:18Speaker 1: And I spent like a good chunk of time just
- 6:20Speaker 1: cracking up with Johnny, and of course he was privy
- 6:23Speaker 1: to me and Josh Raydon's couple's fight, but also we
- 6:28Speaker 1: I wanted to talk to you about this cold Plunge
- 6:30Speaker 1: thing and tell our audience a little bit about because
- 6:32Speaker 1: Johnny is very into this whole sauna and cold plunge life,
- 6:37Speaker 1: and I'm seeing it everywhere with so many people that
- 6:40Speaker 1: I look up to. Whether they're super smart people with
- 6:43Speaker 1: a podcast, or they're very successful people. I know so
- 6:47Speaker 1: many people at the top of their game who are
- 6:49Speaker 1: doing this dopamine hit of going super hot and then
- 6:54Speaker 1: ice cold and starting their day like that. And Johnny,
- 6:56Speaker 1: you've been doing this forever, and I thought you could
- 6:58Speaker 1: just tell our audience a little bit about it. I'm
- 7:00Speaker 1: very interested in it. I am too. I really would
- 7:03Speaker 1: like to know about this, Johnny, because, as you know
- 7:06Speaker 1: I am. I hate the cold, but if it's gonna
- 7:11Speaker 1: put longevity into my life and make me healthier, I
- 7:16Speaker 1: really want to be a part of this. So all right, China,
- 7:18Speaker 1: go ahead. Tell us. So about twenty years ago, my
- 7:23Speaker 1: friend and namer Laird Hamilton, who's a it's kind of
- 7:27Speaker 1: a wealth of fitness and health information because people flock
- 7:32Speaker 1: from around the planet to share their stuff with them.
- 7:34Speaker 1: And one of the guys was Wim Hoff, who's kind
- 7:37Speaker 1: of the high priest of cold water plunges and all
- 7:41Speaker 1: this and breathing, and so Wim spent a lot of
- 7:45Speaker 1: time with this and then kind of took what Wim
- 7:49Speaker 1: had and put it on steroids, and what he had
- 7:51Speaker 1: was this hot and cold as it pertains to your
- 7:55Speaker 1: lymphatic system, and as it affects inflammation. So your lymph
- 8:00Speaker 1: attic system is something that circulates all the good stuff
- 8:02Speaker 1: throughout your body, and it usually takes six to twelve
- 8:05Speaker 1: hours for that to go around around all the good
- 8:08Speaker 1: chemicals in your body. And this accelerates that to about
- 8:11Speaker 1: an hour. And so you have all the good juice
- 8:14Speaker 1: going around, and you've accelerated that to an hour. And
- 8:19Speaker 1: the other thing it does is it deals with inflammation.
- 8:21Speaker 1: And since we all have inflammation, whether it's in your
- 8:24Speaker 1: joints or organs or your brain, somewhere, you have inflammation.
- 8:29Speaker 1: And this purports to help with inflammation. And those are
- 8:33Speaker 1: the two big highlights. But also you get a giant
- 8:37Speaker 1: dopamine hit, don't you. I mean it doesn't it like well,
- 8:41Speaker 1: or I don't know if it's endorphins or dopamine, but
- 8:43Speaker 1: like you feel fucking amazing. Right. Well, here's the thing.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Once you get into wherever your sensitivities are, either the
- 8:50Speaker 1: heat or the ice, your brain is telling the rest
- 8:53Speaker 1: of your body that you're in a great deal of jeopardy.
- 8:56Speaker 1: You're not, of course, You're just in a You're in
- 8:58Speaker 1: a steel tub with some ice in it. Or you're
- 9:00Speaker 1: in a in a in a hot hot house. Yeah,
- 9:03Speaker 1: so that you can open the door and leave. And
- 9:05Speaker 1: so the the hack is tricking your brain and shutting
- 9:10Speaker 1: that off and letting your body know that it is okay.
- 9:14Speaker 1: And so now all this inflammation is starting to subside,
- 9:17Speaker 1: and your lymphatic system is really charged. And that's what
- 9:21Speaker 1: you're perceiving as either dopamine or or this high that
- 9:25Speaker 1: you get afterwards. But it's just hacking the brain and
- 9:28Speaker 1: telling it that it's not, in fact, in any jeopardy.
- 9:31Speaker 1: It's fine, You're you're in an ice tub and everything's
- 9:34Speaker 1: going to be okay. And how do how do you
- 9:37Speaker 1: do this? Do you do it? Where you're in and
- 9:40Speaker 1: then you're out and then you're in? And is there
- 9:42Speaker 1: is a session? Is it? It's three rounds? Right, So
- 9:47Speaker 1: it's three rounds. We go fifteen minutes in the in
- 9:49Speaker 1: the heat, and then a hundred nose breadths in the
- 9:53Speaker 1: ice and then back into the heat. And so the
- 9:56Speaker 1: three rounds of that. But for you, Donald would start
- 9:58Speaker 1: at forty nose breath just okay, and so that all
- 10:01Speaker 1: your focus goes there instead of the pass in your chest.
- 10:06Speaker 1: You know, he was saying and I've seen other people
- 10:07Speaker 1: say this because I've been like, once you, once you
- 10:09Speaker 1: click on this Instagram wormhole, you're going to see some
- 10:12Speaker 1: many people doing Oh it go so deep. No, but
- 10:14Speaker 1: I'm really interested because so am I man, I've been
- 10:16Speaker 1: checking this out. Also, Johnny told me that what happens
- 10:20Speaker 1: is like you're going too panic mode, right, But but
- 10:23Speaker 1: then like your friend who's like you're who's done it,
- 10:26Speaker 1: Like Johnny would coach you, like, calm down, You're just
- 10:29Speaker 1: in full on fight or flight mode. You're just in
- 10:32Speaker 1: an ice tub. You're not going to die. And then
- 10:34Speaker 1: you focus on and you focus on your breathing and like,
- 10:37Speaker 1: if you can do that and train yourself, you can
- 10:40Speaker 1: go shorter or longer or and then develop this this
- 10:44Speaker 1: this skill set which is really powerful for a lot
- 10:46Speaker 1: of people, and it's good for circulation, it's good for
- 10:50Speaker 1: it's good for your heart. I think I told this
- 10:53Speaker 1: story on the podcast. I'll tell it quickly if I've
- 10:56Speaker 1: told this for Joell, remind me if I told this.
- 10:57Speaker 1: But when we were doing the ocean swim thing in
- 11:00Speaker 1: that episode where I'm like, I do the triathlon and
- 11:02Speaker 1: I'm the only one in a in a what he
- 11:06Speaker 1: called speedo. Yeah, pick an apple, put in your pocket.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Pick an apple, put in your pocket. Memember. I was
- 11:10Speaker 1: swimming wh when we shot that. The water was really cold.
- 11:13Speaker 1: It was like probably forty five degrees, but it was
- 11:15Speaker 1: a hot day. It was la and and and they
- 11:18Speaker 1: had a longboard. All the crew were who were in
- 11:20Speaker 1: the water. We had wet suits on, but I had
- 11:23Speaker 1: had a longboard for me to not be in the
- 11:25Speaker 1: there in a speedo for too long. So we would
- 11:27Speaker 1: get in and I would shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, and
- 11:29Speaker 1: then I go, oh my god, I need a break,
- 11:30Speaker 1: and I get on the longboard. Sun was beating down
- 11:32Speaker 1: on me, and then I get in shoot shoo, shoot you.
- 11:34Speaker 1: I was basically doing a modified version of what Johnny's saying,
- 11:37Speaker 1: but I didn't know that I was doing anything special.
- 11:39Speaker 1: When we wrapped that, I went back to my trailer
- 11:41Speaker 1: and I don't remember it said something I remembered, and
- 11:43Speaker 1: it was probably sixteen years ago. I remember feeling such
- 11:48Speaker 1: a high, a natural, full body mental high, like I
- 11:53Speaker 1: had like just serotonin flowing through my body because your
- 11:57Speaker 1: organs were working at optimal level. Man, That's why, man,
- 12:00Speaker 1: with all of the junk that you had in your system. Yeah,
- 12:03Speaker 1: lymphatic system is just speeding through. Man. Do you know
- 12:07Speaker 1: how good that? Do you know how good no inflammation feels? Man?
- 12:11Speaker 1: No inflammation feels amazing. I don't know. Just joints on
- 12:15Speaker 1: your bloodstream, on your system, all of that. Man, That's
- 12:20Speaker 1: why I'm so interested in this. Man. I've been seeing
- 12:22Speaker 1: a lot of people on Instagram doing it. I had
- 12:24Speaker 1: a conversation with somebody at last night about it, and
- 12:27Speaker 1: they were talking about how they've got you know, apparently
- 12:31Speaker 1: the tub isn't the problem. It's the freaking the system
- 12:36Speaker 1: that you put into the tub that's expensive. And then
- 12:39Speaker 1: you can literally you can literally start with a with
- 12:41Speaker 1: a plastic barrel. I see people on Instagram with a
- 12:43Speaker 1: plastic barrel of ice water like right, but you can
- 12:46Speaker 1: get like like you can go nuts. This is a
- 12:48Speaker 1: good gift for yourself if you're out there and you
- 12:51Speaker 1: have the money to do it. Get you what I'm saying,
- 12:53Speaker 1: you don't, I'm donald, I hear you, and I'm saying
- 12:55Speaker 1: there's like refrigerated tubs that are very expensive, but you
- 12:58Speaker 1: can literally start with a plastic barrel. In fact, if
- 13:01Speaker 1: you watch Ted Lasso, those soccer players are getting into
- 13:04Speaker 1: fucking the trash cans, and Bill and Bill and Jason
- 13:09Speaker 1: put that in the show because when they went to
- 13:12Speaker 1: research the real guys, that's what those guys are getting
- 13:14Speaker 1: in those fucking blue recycling things. Yeah, so you can literally,
- 13:18Speaker 1: you can literally do it with that, I'm saying. But
- 13:20Speaker 1: if you got the dough and you want to go go, yeah, yeah,
- 13:23Speaker 1: but I think one before one spends the dough, one
- 13:26Speaker 1: should see if they can handle it in a plastic barrel.
- 13:29Speaker 1: Yeah right, No, I think you're gonna be able to
- 13:31Speaker 1: handle Listen, now, you're the guy, because you're the guy
- 13:33Speaker 1: who goes and then spends fifteen grand and goes like,
- 13:35Speaker 1: I'm not doing that shit. I am that guy. But
- 13:40Speaker 1: I'd wind up doing it. If you came out of here,
- 13:42Speaker 1: I'd walk you through it. Johnny, I'm going to. Can
- 13:44Speaker 1: I come out, let's do a session together. Can we
- 13:47Speaker 1: convince my wife to do this bad boy too? Because
- 13:50Speaker 1: I'm sure she would benefit from this? Yeah? And will
- 13:53Speaker 1: she wear will she wear a bikini? When she does it?
- 13:56Speaker 1: Her nipples, her nipples get so hard, hold wow, and
- 14:01Speaker 1: uncomfortable with this? Uncomfortable with this? I'm sorry, I'm no,
- 14:07Speaker 1: I'm comfortable with it. Listen, she's not very hot, Johnny.
- 14:11Speaker 1: I'm not talking about Casey's I'm not gonna all right,
- 14:13Speaker 1: we'll talk about private parts another time. But you want no, no,
- 14:18Speaker 1: no, no no, no, no no no, I don't want. I
- 14:20Speaker 1: don't know. It's because she can talk about her nipples too.
- 14:23Speaker 1: I love it. Look at it, looking him, looking him squirm.
- 14:30Speaker 1: I'm just saying, when Casey joins us, she should probably
- 14:32Speaker 1: wear a bikini. But Johnny, can we come? We'd love come.
- 14:35Speaker 1: Let's do a session together. I want to come down there.
- 14:38Speaker 1: I'll be in there this after that. I was in
- 14:39Speaker 1: this morning, I'll be in there this afternoon. The answer
- 14:41Speaker 1: is yes. How's the how's the golf simulator? Oh dude,
- 14:47Speaker 1: you're just gonna come out here and have a man
- 14:49Speaker 1: vacation with you know, Johnny has the best house. There's
- 14:51Speaker 1: a golf simulator, there's cold plunges. I just need to know.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Has your game elevent Listen? I haven't played in over
- 14:58Speaker 1: a year now, I know I've been listening to you.
- 15:00Speaker 1: You're mister tennis. Now, I was playing a little tennis.
- 15:04Speaker 1: Chris Krab would have you believe that I play a
- 15:06Speaker 1: lot of tennis, But I played like listen, once you're
- 15:09Speaker 1: tennis is one of those sports that you don't need.
- 15:12Speaker 1: You could take a lot of time off, and when
- 15:15Speaker 1: you come back, if you're not out of shape, or
- 15:17Speaker 1: if you're still athletic, it's still there's not true. That's you. You.
- 15:21Speaker 1: You happen to be a very, very athletic. Donald's a
- 15:24Speaker 1: really good athlete. Donald comes There was a time when
- 15:27Speaker 1: I was taking lessons like every week and Donald was
- 15:29Speaker 1: not there. He was doing golf. And then he comes back.
- 15:31Speaker 1: We have the same teacher, and he comes back and
- 15:32Speaker 1: like he's shitty for like the first fifteen minutes, and
- 15:37Speaker 1: I'm like feeling so good because never am I better
- 15:39Speaker 1: at a sport than Donald. I was just like hitting
- 15:41Speaker 1: really well, and I was just like so happy. Like
- 15:44Speaker 1: sixteen minutes in, he starts doing trick shots. He's like
- 15:46Speaker 1: fully back, well, he's like doing through the leg shit.
- 15:51Speaker 1: You know what the trick trick shots are to fucking
- 15:53Speaker 1: just make it so that everybody runs, you know what
- 15:56Speaker 1: I mean. Nobody hitting back and forth to somebody is
- 15:59Speaker 1: some bullshit. Man, That's how you lose. You're gonna beat
- 16:02Speaker 1: me on consistency all day long. So my competitive spirit
- 16:05Speaker 1: gets in there, and now I'm freaking making it so
- 16:08Speaker 1: that you can't be comfortable anymore. Douts like a ping
- 16:11Speaker 1: pong spin on the ball. Nye, that's brutal. You gotta
- 16:16Speaker 1: you gotta, you gotta do something to switch it up. Listen. Yeah, yeah, dude,
- 16:21Speaker 1: I did that. Oh my god, I did that one.
- 16:24Speaker 1: Donald has the ability to do like this is what
- 16:27Speaker 1: he does. He's exactly right, he doesn't. He doesn't. He
- 16:29Speaker 1: gives up on consistency. So he does some like ping
- 16:32Speaker 1: pong fucking spin on the ball, and the ball does
- 16:34Speaker 1: something I've never seen a pro due do it. It's
- 16:36Speaker 1: just like, well, Donald got those good hands. Donald got
- 16:40Speaker 1: the hands, he got a hand eyed for Craig. Craig.
- 16:42Speaker 1: That's when my brother says, because my technique is horrible
- 16:45Speaker 1: in baseball, but I can still hit the baseball. Yeah,
- 16:47Speaker 1: because you got great hand. Yeah all right, listen, Johnny,
- 16:51Speaker 1: I'm gonna hit you up because I this is I
- 16:53Speaker 1: have a fear about this. And when I felt like
- 16:55Speaker 1: when I it was a sign from the universe. When
- 16:57Speaker 1: when when I talked to you about the other day
- 17:00Speaker 1: because I felt like I need someone, I need a
- 17:02Speaker 1: mentor not too Zakie. I could walk you, I could
- 17:05Speaker 1: take you through a session. It would be so comforting
- 17:08Speaker 1: to you, and you would feel so accomplished. When you
- 17:10Speaker 1: do the three sessions and you get in and out
- 17:13Speaker 1: of the ice three times, you will leave here. You
- 17:15Speaker 1: will feel so rejuvenated and you'll feel really proud of yourself,
- 17:19Speaker 1: which is terrific. Well, thank you. I totally want to
- 17:22Speaker 1: do it, Johnny, and I'm gonna take you up on that.
- 17:24Speaker 1: What do you do? Do you do it like every day?
- 17:26Speaker 1: Or is this? Is this an everyday thing? Or is
- 17:28Speaker 1: this a once a week thing? Like? What's the criteria?
- 17:31Speaker 1: I did it this morning. I did this morning after
- 17:33Speaker 1: the pool workout, And I'm gonna go down and get
- 17:36Speaker 1: Maxie and then I'm gonna get home later tonight around six.
- 17:39Speaker 1: I'll be back in there. Two rounds a day, Yeah,
- 17:44Speaker 1: sometimes more. I want to do it. One want to
- 17:46Speaker 1: You can do as many times as you want. Is
- 17:48Speaker 1: this it's a big It's a big leap for me
- 17:50Speaker 1: because I fucking hate cold water, But I really feel
- 17:53Speaker 1: like it's a challenge for me. It's like a life goal.
- 17:55Speaker 1: I want to conquer this bullshit. I got a lot
- 17:58Speaker 1: of things I want to plish in life. Well, we
- 18:01Speaker 1: have like a great master here a Yoda if you will, Donald,
- 18:04Speaker 1: that can teach us to conquer our fear of sitting
- 18:07Speaker 1: in ice water. I'm off for longevity. If this helps, Yeah,
- 18:11Speaker 1: let's go. I don't know if it helps with longevity
- 18:15Speaker 1: as much as it helps with inflammation. Inflammation. Inflammation is
- 18:18Speaker 1: an inflammation is a key to longevity, Alma, and also
- 18:23Speaker 1: helps with mental health. I hear people talking about how
- 18:26Speaker 1: it big time. Yeah, I hear it. That's for me,
- 18:29Speaker 1: that's real. That's not the least which because you feel
- 18:31Speaker 1: like you've accomplished something that was a goal. And yeah,
- 18:35Speaker 1: I don't know how many goals we have all the time,
- 18:37Speaker 1: and this is a tangible one that you could check off. Yeah, Donald, Yeah, Donald. Okay,
- 18:42Speaker 1: So we're going Casey to bikini up. Oh my god,
- 18:46Speaker 1: I'm gonna a bikini are up. We're gonna bring the
- 18:49Speaker 1: sun tan oil something small, something like illegal in certain
- 18:52Speaker 1: parts of Florida. I'm gonna make sure d different episode.
- 19:01Speaker 1: Al Right, Countess, send Donald's to the show. Show. We
- 19:08Speaker 1: made about a bunch of doctor nurses stories. So yead
- 19:20Speaker 1: around here, yea around here? Alright, eight oh four everybody.
- 19:30Speaker 1: This aired on January thirteenth, oh nine. That was very interesting.
- 19:35Speaker 1: That was fourteen years ago. Very wacky episode, very funny,
- 19:40Speaker 1: lots of stuff with the legendary Johnny c McGinley and
- 19:43Speaker 1: Donald Faizon. Yeah, together again. The team is together. See
- 19:48Speaker 1: it's good to be together again. Um. Directed by Ken Winningham.
- 19:53Speaker 1: Imagine that we've ever been gone to Sammy? To Sammy,
- 19:58Speaker 1: just a love letter to Ah. He's so good in
- 20:01Speaker 1: this right, absolute love letter. Sam has a lot to
- 20:04Speaker 1: do in this one. And it's amazing how much they
- 20:07Speaker 1: squeeze in this episode. There's there's so much. Um. All right,
- 20:11Speaker 1: well let's just start off at the top. Um. Okay,
- 20:13Speaker 1: So you popping down the hallway. First of all, this
- 20:17Speaker 1: is something that somebody said to me once. He was like, uh,
- 20:21Speaker 1: he was like, you guys are hilarious. I was like,
- 20:24Speaker 1: why is that. He's like, because you guys are bopping
- 20:27Speaker 1: down the hallway like you owned the play. Like if
- 20:29Speaker 1: you watch any episode of Scrubs, the Strut JD and
- 20:35Speaker 1: Turk Cab when they're with the pimps and stuff like that. Yeah.
- 20:37Speaker 1: I guess that continued on because we do that like
- 20:41Speaker 1: every episode. There's us freaking walking around like this is
- 20:46Speaker 1: my shit. Yeah, I thought, I thought, to Donald's point, Zachie,
- 20:50Speaker 1: I thought you were biting Travolta in Saturday Night Fever
- 20:54Speaker 1: when he's bringing the paint can down Queens Boulevard shot.
- 20:58Speaker 1: Such a good owing moment and John and John has
- 21:01Speaker 1: that strut, and you had John Strutt in this which
- 21:04Speaker 1: is a compliment, by the way, Well it's a tough strutt.
- 21:09Speaker 1: It ain't easy. Well, listen, JD has had uh seven
- 21:13Speaker 1: and a half years of being tortured by the janitor,
- 21:18Speaker 1: and for the first time in his whole medical career,
- 21:21Speaker 1: he doesn't have to worry about him. He thinks, right,
- 21:24Speaker 1: So he's feeling himself. A weight has been taken off
- 21:28Speaker 1: his shoulders. That's really good. He's like, I don't have
- 21:31Speaker 1: to look around the corner anymore. It's really good. He's
- 21:34Speaker 1: feeling himself. And as he says that, he runs into
- 21:37Speaker 1: the Todd who knocks him on his ass. He says, maybe,
- 21:40Speaker 1: which is disisgusting. It's disgusting. You don't want to but
- 21:45Speaker 1: he goes in for a kiss. Well, he's we know
- 21:49Speaker 1: that Todd. Is he beyond for a kiss. He's beyond bisexual.
- 21:54Speaker 1: He's he's he's into everything, anything and everything. He's just sexual,
- 21:59Speaker 1: he's just period. But it's not sexual. What he does
- 22:02Speaker 1: is not sexual. It's disgusting. It's not consensual, for sure.
- 22:06Speaker 1: He says he's not consensual. He says, I can feel
- 22:11Speaker 1: little j D five and I go no, no, thanks Todd.
- 22:14Speaker 1: He goes, but I can, and I want my five
- 22:20Speaker 1: kiss that was so funny, goes, but I can and
- 22:26Speaker 1: I want my five Okay, So, and then we go
- 22:35Speaker 1: through a sequence where JD and Elliott are are flirting,
- 22:39Speaker 1: of course again, and they're hanging out. Jad seems obsessed
- 22:42Speaker 1: with Oprah. Um, so, wait, who makes the cereal box
- 22:46Speaker 1: for him? Well? The cereal box is really wait no,
- 22:51Speaker 1: somebody made it so that when it opens up, it
- 22:53Speaker 1: goes No, it's been rigged to have an Oprah voice
- 22:57Speaker 1: by Whitney in Payroll, who we see later. Yes, she's
- 23:01Speaker 1: she says, like, who wants him Oprah? Oh? Oh wait?
- 23:07Speaker 1: Did you did you infer that the the JD when
- 23:11Speaker 1: he said he had made had also made the box
- 23:14Speaker 1: or just the vocal mechan I thought he made the box? Also, Johnny,
- 23:17Speaker 1: what did you think? I thought the writers got so
- 23:20Speaker 1: drunk on the Oprah jokes that I just went along
- 23:23Speaker 1: with them. They stumbled into it, and they like they
- 23:25Speaker 1: just wanted to squeeze every drop of water out of
- 23:28Speaker 1: that joke. This must have been at the height of
- 23:30Speaker 1: the time where Oprah was giving away stuff, yelling all
- 23:33Speaker 1: the time, right, No, I think I think Tracy Morgan
- 23:36Speaker 1: did Oprah on a thirty rock and we were walking
- 23:40Speaker 1: He was like, you know what, I mean, what would open?
- 23:43Speaker 1: The question was what would Oprah do? And he was
- 23:46Speaker 1: dressed up as Oprah and he he went, what would
- 23:48Speaker 1: I do? But we were walking around doing Oprah on set.
- 23:56Speaker 1: I think this joke comes from like us being obsessed
- 23:58Speaker 1: with their no, no, I don't want perhaps, but I
- 24:01Speaker 1: just remember at the time Oprah was always giving away stuff,
- 24:04Speaker 1: and she kind of leaned into her own joke. She
- 24:06Speaker 1: was like, you get a car, You get a car,
- 24:08Speaker 1: You get a car. Yeah, all right, look under your seat,
- 24:12Speaker 1: Look under your seat, there's a car. Do you see
- 24:16Speaker 1: the keys, Oprah? How did you get that car under
- 24:19Speaker 1: my seat? I'm Oprah, dude. That shit was Have you
- 24:22Speaker 1: ever seen that? Have you ever seen that actual video
- 24:25Speaker 1: of her telling the audience that they get a car
- 24:27Speaker 1: they lose. You get a car, and you get a car,
- 24:31Speaker 1: and you and everybody get a car. Yeah. The video
- 24:36Speaker 1: of people, even when I wasn't cars, of the audience
- 24:38Speaker 1: when open would give shit away, they would you get
- 24:41Speaker 1: your mind and you get like you get lotion. You
- 24:44Speaker 1: and their heads. You're exploding thing, you know. I can't
- 24:49Speaker 1: even I can't even hear the word lotion now without
- 24:52Speaker 1: thinking of ted Levine telling the girl to put lotion
- 24:55Speaker 1: on it in silent lamp. I can't even hear that word.
- 24:59Speaker 1: I can't hear the word it puts the lotion. Yeah,
- 25:02Speaker 1: with the loan in the basket, will it put the
- 25:05Speaker 1: lotion in the basket. T is so good in that
- 25:09Speaker 1: it's please places. I watch all these movies because I
- 25:21Speaker 1: put a TV in the hot in the sauna behind
- 25:24Speaker 1: two pieces of plexiglass, because I'm such a I'm such
- 25:27Speaker 1: a news junkie that you can stay in the hot house.
- 25:31Speaker 1: I call at the hot house. I had the production
- 25:33Speaker 1: designer on Scrubs make this sign for me and says
- 25:37Speaker 1: the hot house. And it's still out there. And I
- 25:40Speaker 1: just watch all these movies, and I guess I must
- 25:42Speaker 1: have watched ted Levine the other day in in silence
- 25:45Speaker 1: of the lamps. Kind of random. That's kind of a rig.
- 25:48Speaker 1: Nice rig. You got over there. Thank you. Daniel's been there,
- 25:52Speaker 1: by the way, Daniels helped me set up the Yeah,
- 25:55Speaker 1: Daniel got the whole tour. Hell yeah, Daniel's pretty amazing,
- 25:59Speaker 1: isn't It's me. It's a gorgeous spot and the hot
- 26:01Speaker 1: house is dope. Yeah, it's set up very nice, Daniel.
- 26:05Speaker 1: I like that T shirt. Shout out Dove, shout out easy.
- 26:09Speaker 1: It's a it's a delas soul song. It's so easy,
- 26:14Speaker 1: it's so easy. Hey, do you know where Judy is
- 26:17Speaker 1: in this episode? She's not shooting a movie. I know
- 26:20Speaker 1: she's not. We all missed episodes during this season because
- 26:23Speaker 1: of budget, and they did this budget. Remember we moved
- 26:27Speaker 1: to ABC season eight, so everyone I think, um, oh,
- 26:33Speaker 1: everyone takes including me, takes a few off this season
- 26:38Speaker 1: and uh and uh, this is Judy's turn to not
- 26:43Speaker 1: be in because I immediately missed. Jude, do you remember
- 26:46Speaker 1: Do you remember this though? Do you remember like I
- 26:49Speaker 1: remember remember this after you guys tell me stuff I
- 26:52Speaker 1: remember otherwise I don't remember stuff. Well, the funniest joke
- 26:56Speaker 1: in the whole episode happens very early on, and it's
- 26:59Speaker 1: just joke. Is this is a meme, this is I've
- 27:02Speaker 1: got people that do this as uh, what is the joke?
- 27:06Speaker 1: The joke Turks Turk is Turkey is touching a patient
- 27:09Speaker 1: and uh, what do you call it? Just feeling his
- 27:13Speaker 1: his an area of stomach and he and there's a
- 27:16Speaker 1: fart noise and Turk says, that's so right, it's perfectly normal,
- 27:20Speaker 1: natural and the patient says that was you. It goes,
- 27:23Speaker 1: I know, it's perfectly natural, natural, dude. I hadn't seen
- 27:29Speaker 1: that in a while, and I I had to pause
- 27:32Speaker 1: the playback to laugh so hard. It's a meme, dude,
- 27:37Speaker 1: Like there are people that are lip syncing this shit
- 27:38Speaker 1: on TikTok and stuff right now. Then Oh yeah, I'll
- 27:41Speaker 1: post it when that'll be my that'll be my Uh well,
- 27:46Speaker 1: your your performance of this episode, your performance of that joke.
- 27:49Speaker 1: I mean it was so dead pan and funny and
- 27:52Speaker 1: uh all right. So then then we get into this
- 27:55Speaker 1: main storyline between doctor Cox and Turk, which is that
- 27:58Speaker 1: doctor Cox does not trust any surgeon. He calls them
- 28:02Speaker 1: corpse carpenters, and um, you know, I've made your questions
- 28:06Speaker 1: about this all right, I want to hear you go ahead, Well,
- 28:09Speaker 1: what do we I don't know what we're doing. I mean,
- 28:13Speaker 1: I feel like I'm on the set right now and
- 28:14Speaker 1: I'm talking to them. I don't know what we're doing.
- 28:16Speaker 1: I mean, Cox has just gone out of his mind here.
- 28:19Speaker 1: They're just gonna take They're just gonna harvest organs and
- 28:22Speaker 1: put them wherever they want. Yeah, that's that's illegal, man,
- 28:27Speaker 1: I'm sure that's not to them. But he had he
- 28:30Speaker 1: had decided that that he had found a lucky solution
- 28:35Speaker 1: to this kidney problem. Yeah, they put him on a
- 28:37Speaker 1: donor list, and then they took what's then they're on
- 28:40Speaker 1: the donor list. I understand all that, but then one
- 28:43Speaker 1: one party says I don't want to participate, and so
- 28:47Speaker 1: Cox and Turko, well we're doing anyway. Yeah, yeah much? What? Well? No,
- 28:52Speaker 1: I think what wasn't it that they would do it simultaneos,
- 28:55Speaker 1: simultaneously so that there was no there was no fear
- 28:58Speaker 1: of them lose the person ballking right right right? The permission.
- 29:03Speaker 1: I just get that it was without permission. I was
- 29:05Speaker 1: under the permission. I was under the impression that it
- 29:07Speaker 1: was out there was was it was without their permission.
- 29:10Speaker 1: It's way too fuck up, even because they never explained
- 29:13Speaker 1: why they didn't want to do it correct Well, yeah,
- 29:18Speaker 1: that was unclear as I understood that the story point
- 29:21Speaker 1: was that it involved one person going early and doing
- 29:25Speaker 1: it and then the right jewels nodding and the other
- 29:27Speaker 1: person was nervous. Hey, we have no I'm gonna give
- 29:30Speaker 1: I'm gonna give a stranger my kidney. They ever said,
- 29:33Speaker 1: but I have no I have no guarantee that you
- 29:35Speaker 1: when you do yours, you're gonna give my husband yours.
- 29:38Speaker 1: They never explained this and in the show, so it
- 29:42Speaker 1: seemed at first I was like, what are you fucking racist?
- 29:45Speaker 1: Because other camp camp is brown and they're not, you
- 29:48Speaker 1: know what I mean? Like a lot of ship went
- 29:49Speaker 1: through my head, I said, and they were like, Yo,
- 29:52Speaker 1: we're just gonna do it. I was like, this is
- 29:54Speaker 1: highly illegal. I had at some point, and this is
- 29:56Speaker 1: going to come and bite them in the ass. You're right.
- 29:58Speaker 1: I had to do the math in my head and
- 30:00Speaker 1: put together the missing pieces. But yeah, there's a missing
- 30:02Speaker 1: story beat for the audience there. Um, we're gonna take
- 30:05Speaker 1: a break and when we come back, guess what's gonna happen?
- 30:07Speaker 1: We're gonna talk more about this bizarre issue about Cox
- 30:12Speaker 1: not trusting Turk. We'll be right back, and we're back.
- 30:23Speaker 1: Legendary Johnny Legendary Johnny c McGinley, who says, at the
- 30:30Speaker 1: end of the movie seven, somebody calls somebody amazing fucking
- 30:38Speaker 1: movie amazing part Can I tell no disrespect to the
- 30:42Speaker 1: farting by de Fizz? But I what I totally obviously
- 30:47Speaker 1: forget everything. But I didn't remember Jimmy the overly touch touchy,
- 30:52Speaker 1: orderly I was. That was laugh out loud. That shit
- 30:56Speaker 1: was the funniest shit you do that in twenty twenty three. No,
- 31:00Speaker 1: he would be fired again. He would get fired right,
- 31:02Speaker 1: but you could do it. It would just be no, no, okay,
- 31:06Speaker 1: that's a fight. That's a lot of because somebody's gonna
- 31:09Speaker 1: be like, yo, get the fuck off. Like even freaking
- 31:11Speaker 1: Ted says, dude, I do not like this, and he
- 31:13Speaker 1: still hugged and says it. He's still hugging him. It
- 31:17Speaker 1: was so right if you want to still be hugging
- 31:19Speaker 1: the minute he says I don't like to stop, and
- 31:21Speaker 1: you're like, oh, and then you grab his face just
- 31:25Speaker 1: fucking straight up. Hr listen, I said to the motherfucker.
- 31:29Speaker 1: I did not like it. And you know what he did.
- 31:31Speaker 1: He kept rubbing and then he grabbed my face. He
- 31:34Speaker 1: grabbed my mother fucking face. Now y'all need to come
- 31:37Speaker 1: down here and fire it is motherfucker right now? Did you?
- 31:40Speaker 1: I laughed though, Johnny. You see the blooper at the
- 31:42Speaker 1: end where we start laughing hilarious, there had to be
- 31:47Speaker 1: There had to be a thousand feet of bloopers with
- 31:49Speaker 1: you too. Well, obviously he was just making the ship
- 31:52Speaker 1: up and he's Terrence hilarious and an improval guy, and
- 31:55Speaker 1: he was just riffing this weirdest ship and that actor
- 31:58Speaker 1: is great. I just remember we're laughing so hard with him. Yeah,
- 32:02Speaker 1: who is he is? He? Is he a friend of
- 32:04Speaker 1: Neil's or is he somebody? You know? He's gone on
- 32:07Speaker 1: to be on Saturday Night Live, and like, oh yeah, yeah,
- 32:13Speaker 1: he's He went on after this show. He went on
- 32:15Speaker 1: to become a Where do you go after SNL? I
- 32:18Speaker 1: don't know where he is currently, but he's fucked hilarious.
- 32:21Speaker 1: He did Broadway for a bit, He's made a couple
- 32:23Speaker 1: of movies he's in. He never breaks when he's when
- 32:27Speaker 1: he's overly touching you, doesn't He never breaks and some
- 32:31Speaker 1: of the yeah, you know, a lot of the stuff
- 32:33Speaker 1: that he did on Scrubs, he took with him to
- 32:35Speaker 1: Saturday Night Live, like his Brad Pitton personation, you know
- 32:39Speaker 1: how we got to see that early on that goes
- 32:42Speaker 1: with him to SNL. Yeah, he was on SNL for
- 32:45Speaker 1: a pretty long time to him. Keenan, Bobby moynihan, Uh,
- 32:51Speaker 1: there's a few of them. They were all like they
- 32:53Speaker 1: were all click. Uh, you know, they've gone on to
- 32:57Speaker 1: do other things. Keenan On the Kelso's storyline, Kelso says, quote,
- 33:03Speaker 1: I'm like norm in this bitch as he walks into
- 33:06Speaker 1: the coffee Bucks because he's he's he's he's still hanging
- 33:10Speaker 1: out at the hospital's coffee Bucks, and he's sort of
- 33:13Speaker 1: shamed by everyone. Well, he's not shamed by everyone, He's
- 33:16Speaker 1: only shamed by the Bye Bye Ted. Everyone just wants
- 33:20Speaker 1: an explanation, Like, look, it really does seem like everybody's like,
- 33:25Speaker 1: you can they laugh at his jokes and everything still right.
- 33:28Speaker 1: So I don't everybody. I don't think everybody wants him gone.
- 33:31Speaker 1: They just want an explanation on why he's still there. Well,
- 33:34Speaker 1: Ted finally hits him up with don't you have anything
- 33:37Speaker 1: better to do? And Kelso's embarrassed. He says that he's
- 33:42Speaker 1: been planning to take Enid too wine country. Um, but
- 33:46Speaker 1: that's just because she winds wherever he takes her. And
- 33:51Speaker 1: but he's been embarrassed, and so he covers and says
- 33:54Speaker 1: that he's going to be leaving and going on a
- 33:57Speaker 1: trip with Enid. JD references the score sting he says
- 34:03Speaker 1: whenever anyone leaves bound, which is very meta because then
- 34:08Speaker 1: Elliott says, I'm going to leave and we hear the
- 34:10Speaker 1: score go bound. We're forgetting something. What is it? My friend?
- 34:16Speaker 1: The Janitor's back. The janitor is back, and he hasn't
- 34:19Speaker 1: been rehired back, He's just come back. Right this, they
- 34:23Speaker 1: introduced the janitor and Jimmy at the exact same time,
- 34:26Speaker 1: and I feel like they cut because this is right
- 34:28Speaker 1: before we cut into the show. This is the cold open.
- 34:32Speaker 1: They cut Jimmy putting his arm around the janitor. It
- 34:35Speaker 1: looks like because it looks like his hand is coming
- 34:38Speaker 1: up to touch him. Neil was probably like, I'm not
- 34:40Speaker 1: doing that pit yet. I feel like you guys touched
- 34:44Speaker 1: on at last episode of the podcast, and in this
- 34:48Speaker 1: one I could feel it tangibly that I feel like
- 34:53Speaker 1: the writer's room and Bill just kept putting more slack
- 34:56Speaker 1: in the leash for Neil. By season eight, they were like,
- 35:00Speaker 1: let Neil, Neil think of something. Yeah, nothing we're gonna
- 35:04Speaker 1: come up with is going to be as funny as
- 35:05Speaker 1: what comes out of his head. So Neil's will say
- 35:07Speaker 1: something here and he damn short does. Yeah, dude, I'm
- 35:13Speaker 1: still I'm still thinking about last week. Jenny Johnny got
- 35:18Speaker 1: it like you just know. So I passed Turk with Elliott,
- 35:23Speaker 1: and I say, I can feel when Turk is sad.
- 35:25Speaker 1: It's like a wave of heat. Turks Turks destruct because
- 35:31Speaker 1: he knows Cox doesn't trust him, right, isn't like that? No,
- 35:35Speaker 1: and he's really being a second for a while. Yeah,
- 35:37Speaker 1: he feels disrespected and he feels like he's being second guest,
- 35:41Speaker 1: and um, he doesn't understand it. Don't you think that's
- 35:44Speaker 1: a slippery slope when when you put current pop culture
- 35:49Speaker 1: jokes into shows. Um, when you referenced the Hills and
- 35:55Speaker 1: then then X years later, I wonder if anybody knows
- 35:59Speaker 1: what the Hills is. Yeah, there's not money anymore. The
- 36:01Speaker 1: Hills was a reality I know, a pseudo reality show, right,
- 36:06Speaker 1: but well he was like it was scripted, but they
- 36:08Speaker 1: was supposed to be reality. He's right. You listen to
- 36:11Speaker 1: a lot of the old rap songs from the nineties,
- 36:14Speaker 1: well not the nineties, from the early two thousands and
- 36:16Speaker 1: stuff like that, and there was a lot of jokes
- 36:19Speaker 1: about you know, things that don't even exist anymore, and
- 36:25Speaker 1: windows Excel and stuff like that, like no, no, not
- 36:29Speaker 1: a slide to jay Z. But jay Z had a
- 36:31Speaker 1: lot of pop culture lyrics back in the day. And
- 36:35Speaker 1: it's not like he's not the best rapper still, best
- 36:38Speaker 1: rapper alive still, but some of those things don't Who's
- 36:41Speaker 1: the best rapper? Who's the best rapper alive? Now? Donald?
- 36:43Speaker 1: Jay Z? Do you like? Do you like Drake? I
- 36:48Speaker 1: do like Drake. I think I'm not saying jay Z's
- 36:51Speaker 1: the best rapper period, but he is the best rapper alive. Dane,
- 36:57Speaker 1: Who do you think is the best rapper alive? Oh? Man,
- 37:00Speaker 1: don't know if I'm qualified to have an opinion on
- 37:01Speaker 1: this one. Why not? You're a DJ, You're a DJ channel.
- 37:05Speaker 1: I just don't listen to enough contemporary hip hop right
- 37:08Speaker 1: now that I feel like I'm missing out on a
- 37:09Speaker 1: lot of really talented people like Smino. Smino is really good. Look,
- 37:14Speaker 1: I don't listen to enough contemporary hip hop eitherough, but
- 37:16Speaker 1: you know, numbers don't lie, you know what I mean.
- 37:19Speaker 1: I think West Side Gun is a great mc joel.
- 37:21Speaker 1: I'm really into Mick Jenkins Jenkins rules. I was in
- 37:26Speaker 1: the gym the other day and I heard the lyric
- 37:29Speaker 1: it's a rowly, not a stop watch. Who's that? That's
- 37:32Speaker 1: freaking drake, don't stop watch. It's not a stop watch.
- 37:37Speaker 1: I just hit the switch. You're looking tight and nice
- 37:41Speaker 1: on Saturday night. Thank you. I'm trying to look like
- 37:44Speaker 1: he's He's very felt right now. I'm working hard at
- 37:47Speaker 1: ten nice. I was thinking of a man looking at
- 37:50Speaker 1: a man we were talking about because we were talking
- 37:53Speaker 1: to Brett Goldstein. Johnny and I were talking about Golstein,
- 37:55Speaker 1: and just as I touched his abdomen, I felt his
- 37:58Speaker 1: ad Brett Goldstein has ripped fucking fucking Hercules in the
- 38:02Speaker 1: Marvel universe. Every time I break up Hercules, he's either
- 38:06Speaker 1: doing a bit or so into his NDA that he
- 38:10Speaker 1: won't talk about it, because then as NA don't fucking
- 38:13Speaker 1: do it. Just don't bring it up. No, I'm not
- 38:15Speaker 1: gonna I go. Why are you so fucking ripped right now?
- 38:19Speaker 1: Is it because of hercules? And he's like, I don't
- 38:20Speaker 1: know what you're talking about. Yeah, Scott, like he's got
- 38:23Speaker 1: like yeah, yeah, ladies, Brett Goldstein, I know a lot
- 38:29Speaker 1: of you have crushes on him. Well, I'm here to
- 38:31Speaker 1: tell you he's got abs. He's got hercules abs. He's
- 38:36Speaker 1: working hard. Man. I don't know what it's for, but
- 38:38Speaker 1: he's working hard. Listen. I know a lot of shit
- 38:40Speaker 1: about a lot of shit, and I'm not gonna talk
- 38:42Speaker 1: shit about anything that sounds like a rob I know
- 38:46Speaker 1: a lot of shit. Listen. I've been running into people,
- 38:49Speaker 1: and I've I've heard some things about people and they
- 38:52Speaker 1: doing their thing, and I just want you to go
- 38:54Speaker 1: without saying your name. I'm so proud of all of y'all.
- 38:56Speaker 1: How about that I could apply to anyone listening, But
- 39:00Speaker 1: thank you Donald for saying supposed to. But they know
- 39:03Speaker 1: who they, they know who they are they and check
- 39:06Speaker 1: this out, check this out. Some of them don't even
- 39:08Speaker 1: know that I know, but trust me, I know right well.
- 39:12Speaker 1: The only clue I have to what the fuck you're
- 39:14Speaker 1: talking about, is that it came off of Brett Goldstein's abs.
- 39:18Speaker 1: Let's get back to the TV shows. Scrubs. Everybody scrubs.
- 39:23Speaker 1: So m Cox actually admits that he thinks Turk is
- 39:27Speaker 1: the best surgeon in the hospital, and then the shit
- 39:29Speaker 1: he's just doing that to pacify to it. No, I disagree.
- 39:33Speaker 1: I think he really does. But he's saying, I don't
- 39:34Speaker 1: care if you're the best. I'm still going to look
- 39:36Speaker 1: out for my patients, you know, for me. I know
- 39:39Speaker 1: you guys have issues with this, but I thought it
- 39:41Speaker 1: was showing, Look, Cox is the best doctor in the hospital,
- 39:46Speaker 1: and he does not care if it's the best surgeon
- 39:49Speaker 1: in the hospital. He's going to be there and eavesdrop
- 39:51Speaker 1: and make sure he does the right thing. That's how much.
- 39:54Speaker 1: That's the level of how much Cox cares about these patients.
- 39:57Speaker 1: He's going to micromanage every single fucking thing that happens
- 40:01Speaker 1: to them, or I think. I think what's happening is
- 40:03Speaker 1: he's just been given a ship ton of responsibility still
- 40:07Speaker 1: like before. It's it's he's back in the same situation
- 40:10Speaker 1: that he was in before. And yeah, okay, I will
- 40:15Speaker 1: say that he wants the best for his patients. But
- 40:18Speaker 1: I don't think he thinks Turk is the best. He
- 40:20Speaker 1: admits that Todd is the best, but Todd's bedside manners. Shit,
- 40:24Speaker 1: Oh is that what he said? I thought he said
- 40:25Speaker 1: that Turk was the best, and then he said, look
- 40:28Speaker 1: at your fellow, you know, yeah, because he's not. The
- 40:31Speaker 1: comparison of uh is like the best the best actor
- 40:36Speaker 1: on the Hills, which really took me. Yeah, that's where
- 40:41Speaker 1: The Hills comes up. He said, it's like asking who's
- 40:43Speaker 1: the best actor on the Hills. Well, it's clear as
- 40:47Speaker 1: Misha Barton. When The Hills was on you, did people
- 40:50Speaker 1: know that it was scripted? Yes, it's kind of like
- 40:55Speaker 1: it's kind of like ww F or what's it called
- 40:58Speaker 1: WWE now or it's like, wait, are you telling me
- 41:01Speaker 1: that The Hills was scripted? Yeah, it's like WWE in
- 41:05Speaker 1: that in that like the idea of what's going to
- 41:07Speaker 1: happen in this scene? Is are you going to tell
- 41:10Speaker 1: me next that freaking Newlyweds was scripted? I don't know
- 41:14Speaker 1: what you mean by Newlyweds. Oh shit, it's older than you.
- 41:18Speaker 1: You mean the Newlywed game? No, it's only Weeds, the
- 41:21Speaker 1: TV show with Jessica Simpson and Nick lash Well. Was
- 41:28Speaker 1: that scripts the number one freaking reality show? Right? But
- 41:33Speaker 1: was that scripted in a sense that they would say
- 41:36Speaker 1: like say, you guys talk about how you're freaking Hey,
- 41:40Speaker 1: let's I need to get you three together. I thought
- 41:43Speaker 1: it was really interesting when the writers when we joined,
- 41:45Speaker 1: remember we had to join the writers when they went
- 41:47Speaker 1: out on the writers strike, and we all wanted to
- 41:50Speaker 1: universal to march in line with them with placards. And
- 41:54Speaker 1: that's when it was exposed that there was fourteen writers
- 41:57Speaker 1: on Survivor, and there was fourteen writers on every single
- 42:00Speaker 1: one of these reality shows. Yeah, because they were all
- 42:03Speaker 1: on the picket line. Which was an AHA moment for me. Yeah,
- 42:08Speaker 1: I've Casey was the one that really explained it to me.
- 42:11Speaker 1: She was like, it's not that, it's like somebody's sitting there.
- 42:16Speaker 1: They come up with scenarios and they say, this is
- 42:18Speaker 1: what the scenario is, play it out. That must be
- 42:22Speaker 1: the Kardashian model, right, Like that's every model, that's every
- 42:25Speaker 1: model for every reality to the challenge. Yeah, you're mad
- 42:32Speaker 1: at so and so, and I need a shot of
- 42:34Speaker 1: you talking shit about them? Go right, these motherfucker's and
- 42:38Speaker 1: and this is another way to do it. We're gonna
- 42:40Speaker 1: get you all wasted out of your mind too, so
- 42:44Speaker 1: your emotions really fly. That's like the Bachelor and stuff.
- 42:48Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, that's why Bachelor in Paradise is the
- 42:51Speaker 1: best show ever. It's like, it's like ABC's version of porn. Man.
- 42:55Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, are you kidding me? It's it is
- 43:01Speaker 1: hell yea. Every week they get these guys plastered and say,
- 43:06Speaker 1: now have at it. They hook up. Oh my god.
- 43:12Speaker 1: Somebody will be like, it can't be that risk. Oh
- 43:15Speaker 1: my gosh. Somebody would be like, this is how crazy
- 43:17Speaker 1: it is. Somebody would be like, listen, while I'm on
- 43:20Speaker 1: this island, I'm just thinking about it's just you and
- 43:23Speaker 1: me and that's it. Okay, Let's just make sure that
- 43:26Speaker 1: it's you and me and the and the other person
- 43:28Speaker 1: will be like, Okay, while we're on this island, it's
- 43:30Speaker 1: you and me and nobody else. We're gonna do all
- 43:33Speaker 1: of the things that we We're gonna be in love.
- 43:36Speaker 1: The second somebody hotter than the person that they're talking
- 43:39Speaker 1: to walks in, the person is like, I know we
- 43:42Speaker 1: made this deal, but I'm gonna go on this day. Okay.
- 43:48Speaker 1: Every time, Like this shit is like every time and
- 43:50Speaker 1: never als man, this ship is so funny, it's so hilarious.
- 43:55Speaker 1: And then somebody mops around this beautiful desert island by themselves,
- 44:00Speaker 1: was drunk out of their mind in their feelings because
- 44:03Speaker 1: because they were stupid enough to trust somebody who went
- 44:07Speaker 1: on television to me, I haven't watched any shit like that,
- 44:12Speaker 1: and so long, I oh, it's the best, dude, It's
- 44:15Speaker 1: the best something that you and Casey will watch together
- 44:19Speaker 1: because she's the one that put me onto this ship.
- 44:21Speaker 1: Like this was one of those things where I was like,
- 44:23Speaker 1: I'm not watching this ship. Get the funk out of here.
- 44:25Speaker 1: And I sat in the same room and just listened
- 44:28Speaker 1: for like twenty minutes, and then afterwards I was like,
- 44:31Speaker 1: we gotta watch this again next week. Like there was
- 44:34Speaker 1: this one on the show named Jordan. He was the
- 44:37Speaker 1: best thing that ever happened, and he can't never be
- 44:39Speaker 1: Like these people find love and then you look him
- 44:41Speaker 1: up and then they're no longer together. Some people work out.
- 44:44Speaker 1: I love the show. Go ahead, Johnny, what are you
- 44:54Speaker 1: gonna say? Well, you know what happens. This used to
- 44:56Speaker 1: happen with Broadway musicals when great actors tell me the story,
- 45:00Speaker 1: the libretto, or like like Donald just did with this show,
- 45:03Speaker 1: and then they watch it. It's never as good as
- 45:05Speaker 1: when the great actor told me about it. Right, Well,
- 45:08Speaker 1: that's that's obviously the truth. Listen, they blow out that,
- 45:12Speaker 1: they blow out the thong, so you don't get to
- 45:15Speaker 1: see the ass and no booty on ABC. Someone should
- 45:21Speaker 1: fully like X version of this. Oh, I'm sure they
- 45:24Speaker 1: have it on Playboy. That's kind of what that's kind
- 45:26Speaker 1: of what Love Island is on Netflix. It's a love Island.
- 45:29Speaker 1: It's a little bit more as I mean, the next
- 45:32Speaker 1: level is someone's just gonna make one that's like they're
- 45:35Speaker 1: just really fucking and you're watching right sponsored by only fans. Yeah,
- 45:41Speaker 1: you gotta find a way to if you're gonna do that,
- 45:43Speaker 1: you got to find a way to make it so
- 45:44Speaker 1: it doesn't feel to cornish, you know, I know, But
- 45:49Speaker 1: don't you think it's headed that way. They're they're they're,
- 45:50Speaker 1: they're they're walking right up. Then they're walking right up
- 45:53Speaker 1: to the line. They know that there's an audience for it,
- 45:55Speaker 1: just no one's no one's cracked out how to do
- 45:57Speaker 1: it yet. Yeah, because the minute you start talking about
- 46:00Speaker 1: we're gonna have them fuck on live television, or we're
- 46:02Speaker 1: gonna have them fuck or something like that. Everybody's like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
- 46:05Speaker 1: I feel uncomfortable. I'm uncomfortable watching, I know, but that's
- 46:07Speaker 1: just moving the what do they call that? Everybody is
- 46:10Speaker 1: not the ot all love to watch the Overton Window.
- 46:14Speaker 1: That's like the like the how do you explain the
- 46:16Speaker 1: Overton Window? Dan? I mean, it's just like what people,
- 46:18Speaker 1: you know, decide is appropriate here. I'll look at the definition. Yeah,
- 46:21Speaker 1: it's like it's like what people decide is appropriate. Now
- 46:24Speaker 1: obviously that slides. That slides. Let me ask you a question.
- 46:27Speaker 1: If it's dead even one half says I don't find
- 46:30Speaker 1: that's appropriate, and the other half says, I find that's appropriate.
- 46:34Speaker 1: What's the middle? Then they start airing it. That's not
- 46:38Speaker 1: what we're talking about it, that's what we're talking about.
- 46:39Speaker 1: A pole would never work in this case, because people
- 46:41Speaker 1: are gonna say what they want you, what they think
- 46:43Speaker 1: is acceptable within the Overton window to say, right, but
- 46:47Speaker 1: exactly that's my But once it gets onto a channel,
- 46:50Speaker 1: whether it be you know, however, it would get on
- 46:53Speaker 1: probably the internet. I assume first. Then all of a sudden,
- 46:56Speaker 1: the Overton window slides, and people go, this is acceptable.
- 47:00Speaker 1: Oh shit, are you watching that new reality show where
- 47:02Speaker 1: they actually fuck it's insane? Exactly, that's the actual definition, Dan,
- 47:07Speaker 1: It is exactly that the spectrum of ideas on public
- 47:10Speaker 1: policy and social issues considered acceptable that by the general public.
- 47:14Speaker 1: But you can't know if it's acceptable or not until
- 47:16Speaker 1: it's actually tried out though, of course, but slide. They
- 47:20Speaker 1: have to happen, and then they're kind of like it's
- 47:22Speaker 1: you know, you could look at it with music too,
- 47:24Speaker 1: like what used to be considered very like experimental kinds
- 47:27Speaker 1: of music are now just pop music. Well they ultimately
- 47:30Speaker 1: here's a very clear example recreational marijuana being legal. Say
- 47:35Speaker 1: that the Overton window is just completely slid. So another
- 47:38Speaker 1: perfect example TV in the eighties and nineties TV now. Yeah,
- 47:44Speaker 1: the things you can get away with on television, on
- 47:46Speaker 1: network television, compared to the things that you can get
- 47:48Speaker 1: away with now are way different. I see what you're saying.
- 47:51Speaker 1: That is the venue for which the overtin window has adjusted. Yeah, yes,
- 47:55Speaker 1: the venue for which the Overton window has adjusted. Dannie,
- 47:58Speaker 1: you're so articulate by the way, did you see um,
- 48:04Speaker 1: Michael B. Jordan in that in that Calvin Klein out Jesus,
- 48:08Speaker 1: I think everybody who's seen it as at paused for
- 48:11Speaker 1: a second. It was like, huh. Remember we were talking
- 48:15Speaker 1: about this last week and I said I wanted to
- 48:17Speaker 1: get my body in the shape of that. I am
- 48:20Speaker 1: of the belief now that that might not be as
- 48:24Speaker 1: attainable as I boasted about last week. I will, I
- 48:30Speaker 1: will set out on this goal and I will. How
- 48:34Speaker 1: are you doing with it in some way? Dude? That'sh
- 48:36Speaker 1: It's difficult, man. I keep I keep pushing the date back.
- 48:40Speaker 1: And it's because I had so much weed in my
- 48:43Speaker 1: house that it was like and I don't want to
- 48:46Speaker 1: throw it away because I spent the money on it,
- 48:48Speaker 1: and it was a lot of money. Why I'm not
- 48:52Speaker 1: giving away my marijuana. Dog, shit is mine. Listen, disrespect,
- 48:57Speaker 1: no disrespect to anybody. Dog. I paid for it. It's
- 49:01Speaker 1: like I paid for morolos. I'm gonna eat morolos, Dude,
- 49:04Speaker 1: it's the same shit I paid for the weed. I'm
- 49:06Speaker 1: gonna smoke my motherfucking weed. But here's a good thing.
- 49:09Speaker 1: Here's a great thing, is that I'm out. I'm not
- 49:13Speaker 1: going to the dispensary to get more. I'm just gonna
- 49:16Speaker 1: suffer and suffer and suffer until it no longer feels
- 49:21Speaker 1: like I'm suffering, and then I will be on the
- 49:24Speaker 1: other side. But right now, I do not like the
- 49:26Speaker 1: way I feel. I feel lost, I feel in a
- 49:31Speaker 1: haze or in a daze, and I really want to
- 49:33Speaker 1: smoke weed, but I'm not going to, but I really
- 49:36Speaker 1: fucking want to. Well, there's this thing I'm ready and
- 49:39Speaker 1: called unpopular opinion, and it makes me think unpopular opinion,
- 49:44Speaker 1: but colon and they say weed isn't addictive. That's bullshit.
- 49:50Speaker 1: That's a line. Anybody who said that is lying. Well,
- 49:53Speaker 1: is there any way? Is there any way we as
- 49:55Speaker 1: your friends could help you? Yeah, I mean, just no judgments.
- 50:00Speaker 1: And this is something that I got to deal with,
- 50:01Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. That's honestly, that's all it
- 50:04Speaker 1: boils down to, Like everybody's going to deal with addiction
- 50:06Speaker 1: in some way. I'm not saying this is a fucking
- 50:09Speaker 1: I'm not saying I'm on the level of heroin or
- 50:12Speaker 1: cocaine or anything like that. But I have a straight
- 50:16Speaker 1: up weed problem right now. If you having girl problems
- 50:19Speaker 1: I feel bad for you, son, I got ninety one
- 50:22Speaker 1: nine problems and is one. I got ninety nine problems,
- 50:27Speaker 1: then weed is one. Well, no judgment. We love you
- 50:30Speaker 1: and if you do want our support in anyway, I'm
- 50:32Speaker 1: here for you. I'll do anything for you. Um, definitely,
- 50:35Speaker 1: I think a good step would be to not buy more.
- 50:39Speaker 1: I agree. Um, all right, let's get back to the
- 50:43Speaker 1: Scrubs show. Kelso, we catch Elliot and I catch Kelso.
- 50:49Speaker 1: He's hiding out at another coffee Bucks, and um, I
- 50:53Speaker 1: tell him that Elliot's granny panties are actually her granny's panties.
- 50:59Speaker 1: That is discussed, and then we have a fantasy sequence
- 51:03Speaker 1: where Jad imagines Elliott being sexy. This was very naughty shit,
- 51:10Speaker 1: I want to say. I just want to say, in
- 51:14Speaker 1: all without trying to sound like a creep, Holy fuck, Sarah,
- 51:21Speaker 1: what the hell were you like? Is that creatine? Like
- 51:27Speaker 1: she was not only ripped, but she was buff. She
- 51:31Speaker 1: was like looked like she was freaking lifting them weights,
- 51:35Speaker 1: like she was very propressing them things. You know what
- 51:38Speaker 1: I'm saying. Toned and sexy and uh, she looks she
- 51:43Speaker 1: looked like she was eating chicken and broccoli. Probably she
- 51:47Speaker 1: looked absolutely beautiful. She looked like a nineteen fifties star
- 51:52Speaker 1: out of Valley of the Dolls or right, you know
- 51:54Speaker 1: who was it, Fara Faster? Who is it in a
- 51:57Speaker 1: fifty foot woman? And also what was the one that
- 52:00Speaker 1: Jane Fonda did Barbarella and uh oh, Shena That's who
- 52:05Speaker 1: she looked like, Shena freaking uh with the leather. Yeah,
- 52:09Speaker 1: she had sort of a warrior princess outfit on. Yeah,
- 52:12Speaker 1: yeah she did not the warrior princess Shena back in
- 52:15Speaker 1: a day, the one with the little Tanya Roberts. Tanya Roberts, Yes, yeah,
- 52:19Speaker 1: Tanya Roberts. Yes. And then when she cut to me
- 52:23Speaker 1: and I, you know, I was obviously going to the
- 52:25Speaker 1: gym because I liked your clothes off. I didn't look
- 52:28Speaker 1: too shabby. Yeah, I took my shirt off. Yeah, I
- 52:31Speaker 1: was working on with the bills trainer. Then Urgan, you
- 52:34Speaker 1: didn't get the lights though she got the lights. They
- 52:36Speaker 1: didn't give you the lights. They didn't give me the
- 52:37Speaker 1: beauty lights. No, no, well hers was a fantasy and
- 52:40Speaker 1: mine was spoke meant to be. Actually in the coffee shop,
- 52:43Speaker 1: he took her shirt off to get the stage She's
- 52:45Speaker 1: like back, and I did that lean back to make
- 52:49Speaker 1: my abs look better. You know that lean back, lean
- 52:52Speaker 1: back back, lean back back. So then we go to
- 52:57Speaker 1: this wacky black hole world. Well, hold up, let's go back.
- 53:01Speaker 1: You're skipping ahead. First of all, we need to talk
- 53:04Speaker 1: about the janitor and how he fires the really nice janitor. Yes,
- 53:08Speaker 1: and then we find out that the yeah that was
- 53:10Speaker 1: fucked up, that dude had two episodes. He was the
- 53:14Speaker 1: nicest dude ever gets fired. I skipped to fund the
- 53:18Speaker 1: second funniest thing in the whole fucking show. I apologize audience.
- 53:21Speaker 1: When we have that fantasy where we're hooking up and
- 53:24Speaker 1: our hands clutch on them. O, my god, was Donald
- 53:31Speaker 1: was Donald's hand on top of your Yes? It was
- 53:34Speaker 1: he was? He was? You were you were? You were?
- 53:39Speaker 1: You were? I was the recipient, Yes, you recipient of
- 53:44Speaker 1: it was the recipient of the goods you were receiving,
- 53:47Speaker 1: Jack Donald. I remember us laughing. So even shooting that,
- 53:52Speaker 1: even just shooting the clutching of the hands, we were
- 53:55Speaker 1: cracking because the shot was so funny. We may see
- 54:02Speaker 1: so many people. You see my hand come down and
- 54:04Speaker 1: then you see his come down and clunch it. That
- 54:08Speaker 1: made so many people happy, so many people have wanted
- 54:11Speaker 1: that to happen for so long. Oh man, I laughed
- 54:13Speaker 1: so hard I laughed. So there's no never been a
- 54:15Speaker 1: shot of two hands that made me laugh harder than
- 54:18Speaker 1: that shot. Oh it's hard not to. It's hard not
- 54:21Speaker 1: to go off into your own private idaho on that one. Boy. Yeah, well,
- 54:26Speaker 1: I'm sure some fans did they pause. It's pretty darn good.
- 54:30Speaker 1: So um, let's see the janitor um was never hired back,
- 54:34Speaker 1: and he's making Ted mop for him. He's he's convinced
- 54:38Speaker 1: Ted that's he's he's injured because he's rusty from mopping
- 54:43Speaker 1: and uh and that, and so Ted is so happy
- 54:46Speaker 1: to have him back that Ted, who's not a very
- 54:48Speaker 1: good momper, has has taken over all of the cleaning responsibilities.
- 54:53Speaker 1: But but everything about, everything about Sammy's physicality in this
- 54:57Speaker 1: episode just yields huge dividends from him running around the
- 55:01Speaker 1: hallway to him not being able to mop, you know.
- 55:06Speaker 1: And what's crazy is sam was a tremendous athlete, like, yeah,
- 55:11Speaker 1: a tremedial. Oh my goodness, when I took listen, it
- 55:17Speaker 1: was so deceiving. And when I say he was a
- 55:19Speaker 1: good basketball player, I mean he was a very good,
- 55:22Speaker 1: smart and athletic dude. Athletic dude like you know what
- 55:28Speaker 1: I mean. Character he played, you know, he was not
- 55:30Speaker 1: like that at all, not like that. And if you
- 55:33Speaker 1: look at Sam out well, look at him outside of
- 55:35Speaker 1: the outside of the show, if you look at his
- 55:37Speaker 1: body when he would wear normal clothes, Sam had. Sam
- 55:41Speaker 1: was fit, always looked fit, took what I mean, could
- 55:45Speaker 1: he drain threes? Donald No, he was more of an
- 55:48Speaker 1: inside player. But and he was unorthodox too, like he
- 55:52Speaker 1: didn't buy it. Wasn't like he was a lefty or
- 55:54Speaker 1: anything like that. He just you don't expect somebody that
- 55:57Speaker 1: looked like Sam when you work with him to be
- 55:59Speaker 1: that good sports and he's phenomenal. He was phenomenal. Wow.
- 56:05Speaker 1: Like my brother, my brother high praises for Sam's basketball,
- 56:09Speaker 1: like high praises. And my brother doesn't talk nice about everybody,
- 56:13Speaker 1: but he talked nice about Sam all the time. He
- 56:15Speaker 1: was like, dude. Like. So, we played an NBA Entertainment League, right.
- 56:20Speaker 1: I tried so hard to get to Sam to play
- 56:22Speaker 1: in the NBA Entertainment League. He would always say no
- 56:25Speaker 1: because we would play on Sundays and he was a
- 56:27Speaker 1: huge Patriots fan. Right, But we would try so hard
- 56:31Speaker 1: to get him to play basketball with us because we
- 56:34Speaker 1: knew if we got him, people would look at him
- 56:36Speaker 1: and be like, Ah, he's not gonna do anything, And
- 56:40Speaker 1: we knew that he would just destroy everybody. Right, Sam
- 56:44Speaker 1: was such an amazing athlete and so and and and
- 56:47Speaker 1: the character that he played on television made you think, oh,
- 56:51Speaker 1: this is gonna be a piece of cake. That's that's
- 56:53Speaker 1: also that's also saying how great of an actor he was. Also, like,
- 56:57Speaker 1: he was so good at what he did that you
- 56:59Speaker 1: would believe that he was that person and he wasn't
- 57:02Speaker 1: at all. This is funny because that Bill has the
- 57:06Speaker 1: rights of the janitor saying something that Bill always says.
- 57:09Speaker 1: And now if you're watching Shrinking, he's written it into
- 57:12Speaker 1: Michael Yury's character saying it. But it's the phrase everything
- 57:16Speaker 1: always works out for me. Oh that's right. So Bill
- 57:20Speaker 1: put it into Shrinking, Right, But don't you feel that
- 57:24Speaker 1: way that everything works out for him? Know that if
- 57:28Speaker 1: you are of that mind state set, absolutely, I think
- 57:31Speaker 1: what you manifest you put out there, and if you
- 57:33Speaker 1: genuinely believe this as Bill does, you have to genuinely
- 57:36Speaker 1: believe it you can manifest every day things working out
- 57:39Speaker 1: for you. And I think Bill lives by that, and
- 57:41Speaker 1: he's one of the most successful people in town because
- 57:44Speaker 1: he fully believes and manifests everything works out for me.
- 57:49Speaker 1: And I think he's living proof that if you have
- 57:51Speaker 1: the the will and the commitment to a mantra, that
- 57:57Speaker 1: you can make anything happen. But it's funny. It's very
- 58:01Speaker 1: obnoxious to people that that don't believe it, and he
- 58:05Speaker 1: and you kind of roll your eyes. But anyway, so
- 58:08Speaker 1: he gave it to the janitor here. But just a
- 58:09Speaker 1: funny connection to shrinking is that it's now a catchphrase
- 58:14Speaker 1: for Michael Yary and shrinking the Janitor pulls it off
- 58:17Speaker 1: here too. He's living the dream. Not only does he
- 58:21Speaker 1: get a pay raise, not only does he get a
- 58:22Speaker 1: pay raise, but he's now back on the books right.
- 58:25Speaker 1: And they didn't need have to go for a job
- 58:27Speaker 1: interview or anything. He just had to convince the lady
- 58:29Speaker 1: with the checks that he's supposed to get one. And
- 58:32Speaker 1: it's great. Bouncing that off of Ted, bouncing that off
- 58:35Speaker 1: of Sammy is just great. He convinces the woman that
- 58:39Speaker 1: he's gets double his salary and she just accepts it.
- 58:42Speaker 1: She's not a very good accountant. You, No, she is not.
- 58:46Speaker 1: She's not good an account she really shouldn't. I want
- 58:50Speaker 1: to know what her story is. You know, in modern
- 58:52Speaker 1: day television they'll go off and like just tell a
- 58:54Speaker 1: random person in the show's full story. I'd like to
- 58:57Speaker 1: know what a day in the life of that really
- 58:58Speaker 1: bad account woman is like, because, yeah, that's pretty good.
- 59:01Speaker 1: She's not really doing a very good job watching the
- 59:04Speaker 1: hospital's money. Let's take a break. We'll be right back
- 59:07Speaker 1: after these fine words. Okay, I have a question. Who
- 59:16Speaker 1: directed this episode? Okay, I love Ken winning him. I
- 59:22Speaker 1: don't understand why you guys were in a black room. Okay,
- 59:26Speaker 1: that's not Ken, that's Bill Um. I think if you
- 59:29Speaker 1: remember back in the day, there's a deep cut, there
- 59:32Speaker 1: was a very dramatic ish episode of Family Ties where
- 59:38Speaker 1: Michael J. Fox I believe, lost a Michael Alex pe
- 59:42Speaker 1: Keaton lost a friend. Do you remember his best friend? Yeah?
- 59:45Speaker 1: And they did a very stylized version of it where,
- 59:49Speaker 1: if you recall, it was kind of broke the fourth
- 59:51Speaker 1: wall of the sitcom and it was black and he
- 59:54Speaker 1: was walking through the sets. Do you remember this? Yes?
- 59:57Speaker 1: All right, So in my mind. This was sort of
- 59:59Speaker 1: Bill's own homage to that. It obviously is an out
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: of the box idea for Scrubs. We never really did
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: anything quite like this, but in his mind, we just
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: disappear into this sort of black void and finally tackle
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: the difficult conversations of are we going to really do
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: this again or not? So it wasn't a Ken thing.
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: I think it was a Bill writing it thing. Okay,
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: it took me out of the episode. Yeah, I just said,
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: I don't think I remember shooting it and didn't. And
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: what I didn't feel like I was very good at it.
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: I thought I was. I didn't know, I didn't know
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: mind the lines well enough, and I remember thinking at
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: the time I wasn't president or up up to the
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: task to do it as well as it needed to
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: be done. I disagree one hundred percent with you right there.
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: I think you both did a great job, and I
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: think it was missing. I think what was missing was
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: the ambiance in the background. I think the singling out.
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: When you single something out and you take away everything,
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: it's really really, really really really hard to keep the
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: audience captivated. That's just me and I know it. Probably
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: it might have worked for family ties. But I don't
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: you know, I have a hard time just when movies
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: are just a black set, or when TV shows or
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: when plays are just a black set. I think. I
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: think what you're also saying is that in this I
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: feel a lot in different forms of entertainment that the
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: style choice upstage the performance absolutely well, it also takes
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: away from the performance because in real life, you're fidgeting,
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: you're grabbing things, regardless of what's going on in the conversation.
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: Even if you're present and you guys are eye to
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: eye and looking and stuff like that, your body is
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: doing other things. When you take away all of that,
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: you know what I mean, and it's just you and
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: the other person a table and you're sitting there. You're
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: forced to just focus on that, and that's not necessarily realistic. Now,
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: I hear you, but I but all I'm saying is
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: I feel many times as I watch content that I go,
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: oh my god, you have such fucking amazing actors and
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: such incredible dialogue. All this style that you've put on
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: it is about you, the filmmaker or the showrunner, and like,
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: just let these fucking people talk, like I want to,
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: just you're upstaging the performances with your style, do you
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: know what I mean? Yeah, And and I don't know,
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: this might be this might be an example of that
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: for you, is what I was saying. It's it's hard
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: to if the whole show was like that, I could
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: totally by this point, I would totally be invested in
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: everything like that. But because this came out of nowhere
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: with no it wasn't even like it wasn't even like,
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: you know, with everything that's going on in this room,
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: I only have eyes for you, you know what I mean.
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: It wasn't even like that. It was just out of nowhere.
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: Everything disappeared. There was a quick line Donald and I
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: don't know, I just for full coverage where they were
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: like and suddenly it was like we were the only
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: two people in the room. I think, I think take
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: I think taking people out of the room is a
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: better thing to do than just all of a sudden
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: making it so that the room doesn't exist anymore. So, Um,
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: there's a moment where um, Jimmy is who does he
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: say this too? Is it me? All the energies in you,
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: I'm just opening the channels. This is at the end,
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: This is this is during the no no, no, no no,
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: this was this was no I'm this I'm still within
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: the show and he's working on me. He says that,
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: oh yeah, all the energies in you. I'm just opening
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: the channels and I'm like, God, that made me laught
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: so hard. Yeah, me too. And then Todd. I think
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: the first and only time Todd is the source of
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: the wisdom of the episode. He said life would be
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: so much easier for everyone if we just trusted each other. Yeah,
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: that was strange. It's impossible. It's like a stopped clock
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: being right twice a day. Todd finally has a piece
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: of wisdom that was very strange. I think he's a
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: Bill wanted to have him be the bizarrely be the
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: source of the of the wisdom. It's the episode is
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: about trust. Is Elliott Gonna and jd Are they gonna
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: trust each other? Is doctor Cox the you know, best
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: doctor or leader of the hospital gonna trust a surgeon
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: and Turk? Are those patients gonna trust each other? For
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: this kid bizarre kidney swap that we talked about. But
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: it's also about it's also about why we do what
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: we do, Like that was a major part about it too,
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: like coming back from the act, right, why would you
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: think we're dating? Why won't they do the transplant? Why
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: would you still work here? You know, the why is
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: a big question. Well it's the it's the number one
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: question coming back from the act right. And I thought
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: that was really interesting that. I mean, of course it's
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: a sitcom and that's what we do, but I know,
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: I thought it was very interesting that you know, who
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: gives a shit if JD and Elliot or dating? And
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: that's what Kelso says at the end. Yeah, Kelso, he says,
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: is uh. Kelso really drops the quote of the episode.
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: He says, who the hell cares what anyone else thinks?
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: Just look into your heart and do whatever the hell
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: makes you're happy. And you've been quoting that for so long,
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: Zach on this podcast, and I didn't remember when it
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: came in. And when I heard that ship, it was
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: like an epiphany. It was like, that's you're absolutely fucking
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: and I've been listening to you say this shit. You
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: said this to people that have called in, you said
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: this to people that have you know what I mean, Like,
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: this is something that has consistently and you give it,
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: You've given it to Ken too, you know, saying how
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: that line has resonated with you. And it wasn't until
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: I heard it today that it really fucking stuck with me.
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: You know. Yeah. I think a lot of Scrubs fans
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: like that, and I responded to that over the years,
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: and I think it's a good, really mantra for for
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: living your life, particularly in the in the modern era,
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: when so many people can weigh in on on your
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: own choices. I got goosebumps at the end when they
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: grabbed hands. I'm not gonna lie, I'm not ashamed. I shouted,
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: look at the happening like oh boy, yeah, no, like
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: in the best way, because it's such a slow, steady
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: build for these two and then the show kind of
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: like drops it for so long, and then to see
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: you guys just be friend like you and are so adorable,
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: it's just like, oh, it's friend dates. We're just hanging out,
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: and it's kind of like if you've ever seen two
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: friends like kind of fall in love or you're like,
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: oh no, they're doing you know, before they know they're
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: not quite catching up to like where they're feeling. It
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: was that kind of feeling. I was very excited I
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: love the end of this episode. I gotta tell you,
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: I was not expecting to be affected by it. But
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: when I when I when JD grabs her hand, I
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: fully got goosebumps. I was like, oh God, I'm really
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: rooting for them. I'm like, I'm truly invested. I feel
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: like it didn't come on suddenly either, though. I feel
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: like what I wrote this down, I feel like what
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: Bill did and how he's placed this from when the
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: time you guys had broken up into you know what
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: I mean into now. It's not like this comes out
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: of nowhere. And also, I think he knows he's wrapping
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: me up, us up, you know, like the future of
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: what was going to happen next season was very unclear.
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: I think he knows that he's gonna stick the landing
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: with me and Elliott and then do a proper ending
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: of season eight, right like like we know we do
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: that amazing, incredible walking down the hallway and the images
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: of our future. And so he's building. He knows he's
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: as a showrunner, he's got to get to there by
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: the by the end, because I was gonna says he
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: put he planted a hopeful seed in every season there's
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: a hopeful seed. Even in the season where JD breaks
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: her heart completely, he still plants a hopeful seed that
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: they can get back together. Every year, you love planting seeds.
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: I planted at least six of them that you know about. Um,
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: so we said at least um. Well, that brings us
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: to the end of the episode. Um, Johnny. Any ending thoughts,
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: Just that you guys are crushing this thing. I don't
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: know how you've been doing the perseverance you guys have
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: exercised in your podcast. It's just I know there's sometimes
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: when you don't feel like doing it and maybe it's
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: a bummer, but you and Joel and Daniel and d
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: you guys just crushing this thing. I'm so proud of you.
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: It's so fresh every time you do it. And there's
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: got to be times where it's just like discipist bringing
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: the boulder of the god damn mountain everything when we're
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: doing it. I do dread it sometimes when we're when
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: I'm supposed to do it, But the second I see

- 1:08:59Speaker 1: doesn't matter. It's somebody calls action, or if the curtain
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: goes up, you gotta do something. But it's it's the
