- 0:00Speaker 1: Boulet Cap Podcasts, special guests, My guy, good to see you, man,
- 0:04Speaker 1: Good to see you mane Shady Records, Newest Grip, what's
- 0:10Speaker 1: happening everybody. Atlanta's finance is in the building. Man, welcome, man, welcome.
- 0:14Speaker 1: He First of all, I just want to say congratulations,
- 0:16Speaker 1: thank you, thank you. Yeah, because I remember when my boy,
- 0:19Speaker 1: Erica Rock put me onto your shit. Uh he put
- 0:21Speaker 1: me on the Stunnosed project. I was like, I gotta fuck,
- 0:24Speaker 1: I gotta find this guy. We gotta get him on
- 0:26Speaker 1: the show. People want to people that restyle. Yeah, man,
- 0:29Speaker 1: like it was so it's so dope. And then just
- 0:31Speaker 1: to see you kind of like just drop consistently throughout
- 0:35Speaker 1: the pandemic, just dropping records and just staying like staying
- 0:38Speaker 1: on your ship man, and like obviously it paid off.
- 0:40Speaker 1: Like kind of take me to what led to him
- 0:44Speaker 1: coming to the table, Like what what what caught his attention? Yeah,
- 0:48Speaker 1: I'll give you the months, like the months leading up
- 0:51Speaker 1: to this ship. So like with draw sna nose in
- 0:54Speaker 1: like October twenty nineteen teen, right, right, sh It's god damn.
- 0:59Speaker 1: You know it was getting critical acclaim and you know,
- 1:01Speaker 1: went on tour with Jed uh, Europe came back like December,
- 1:07Speaker 1: like Christmas, right January. We setting up for this Brent tour.
- 1:10Speaker 1: We're fin the tour the States with Brent right then
- 1:13Speaker 1: COVID and then everything shut down and we're kind of
- 1:17Speaker 1: just like that could have been a big tour too,
- 1:19Speaker 1: a big tour. I was supposed to make some good money, right,
- 1:22Speaker 1: so like it's like, damn, all right, well what we're
- 1:25Speaker 1: gonna do? So automatically just start I just lock in
- 1:29Speaker 1: and I make Halo, you know what I'm saying. Make Halo.
- 1:32Speaker 1: And I think like a week and I'm like, all shure,
- 1:34Speaker 1: we're at least on band camp. But thease that way,
- 1:36Speaker 1: you know, people can't go just tune in and throw
- 1:39Speaker 1: some money out of it. So make Halo? Did that
- 1:44Speaker 1: ship turn around? Made Probacitia were kind of just wait,
- 1:48Speaker 1: nobody knows at this point, nobody knows, like what's going
- 1:51Speaker 1: on in the where's the world going open back up?
- 1:53Speaker 1: Like everything's shutting down, everything's getting canceled. I made that one.
- 1:59Speaker 1: I think shortly after I made that one, I think
- 2:04Speaker 1: Paul might have reached out, you know, you know, just
- 2:09Speaker 1: show interest, you know what I'm saying. So at first
- 2:11Speaker 1: it was just talking with Paul, and then it turned
- 2:14Speaker 1: into well heard it. You know what I'm saying, He's interested.
- 2:19Speaker 1: So from there, you know, we kind of just like,
- 2:22Speaker 1: all right, well, let's figure something out. You know what
- 2:23Speaker 1: I'm saying. So this is in the pandemic, this is
- 2:26Speaker 1: like this is twenty nineteen, right, you know what I'm
- 2:28Speaker 1: saying twenty twenty. Yeah, that's just how I fucked up.
- 2:32Speaker 1: So this is tall blur buddy, It's all fucking blur
- 2:34Speaker 1: man blur. Right, So like this is twenty twenty. I
- 2:38Speaker 1: just go back to and at the start January I started,
- 2:41Speaker 1: I started recording I Died for This January, so you
- 2:44Speaker 1: already started working on the album. So then after but
- 2:47Speaker 1: then I took a pause. I recorded those other projects
- 2:50Speaker 1: and put them out just to have some shit out.
- 2:53Speaker 1: So then once we talked to you know and Paul,
- 2:56Speaker 1: it was kind of like, all right, bet, like so
- 2:57Speaker 1: now I gotta I'm inspire it again, so let me
- 3:01Speaker 1: finish this ship. So that way, if I fly out
- 3:03Speaker 1: there and ship and play some ship for him, I
- 3:04Speaker 1: got a body of work ready to go. Yeah, so
- 3:08Speaker 1: started working continue working on our Die for This. By
- 3:12Speaker 1: the time we got up there. Uh. It was just
- 3:16Speaker 1: like all I had to do was ask him, like, Yo,
- 3:18Speaker 1: this is the song I want you on. And you know,
- 3:20Speaker 1: I'm saying, think about Royce on this ship, you know
- 3:22Speaker 1: what I'm saying. But I think that m said he
- 3:24Speaker 1: heard he heard a Snubnose and two to two six
- 3:27Speaker 1: caught him kind of rapping fast and switching cadences and
- 3:31Speaker 1: ship Big Ruby at the beginning. He's like, yeah, he's
- 3:34Speaker 1: like that ship. So with Snubnose it caught. I feel
- 3:38Speaker 1: like Snubnose was so like slept On, especially like on
- 3:41Speaker 1: the DSPs, Like I feel like once you started dropping
- 3:45Speaker 1: music in the pandemic, like I was like, oh, ship,
- 3:47Speaker 1: I see I see Grip making these fucking big playlists.
- 3:50Speaker 1: This is dope, you know what I'm saying. Yeah, And
- 3:52Speaker 1: the people was going back to snub you know what
- 3:55Speaker 1: I'm saying. So it was cool. I think every like
- 3:58Speaker 1: every drop I've ever had, it just kind of got
- 4:00Speaker 1: bigger at the time, you know what I'm saying, Like naturally,
- 4:03Speaker 1: just it's got to be dope. Though, Like to have
- 4:05Speaker 1: like a concept project like Snubnose be the thing that
- 4:08Speaker 1: catches Eminem's attention. Hell yeah, man, I feel like because
- 4:11Speaker 1: for a long time, man, I was, I was kind
- 4:12Speaker 1: of upset with it because like I felt like it
- 4:15Speaker 1: was it was a great body of work that kind
- 4:17Speaker 1: of just like fell under the radar. No, it definitely did. Yeah,
- 4:21Speaker 1: So then I was just like, you know, for a
- 4:23Speaker 1: long time, I was kind of just like I was
- 4:24Speaker 1: frustrated for people who don't understand. Like, you had a
- 4:27Speaker 1: project in twenty nineteen you put out called Snubnose. This
- 4:29Speaker 1: is a project that kind of got me onto you
- 4:31Speaker 1: real tough, but what like it was a whole entire
- 4:33Speaker 1: concept to the album break break down what that was.
- 4:36Speaker 1: So Snubnose, of course is a is a revolver. So
- 4:41Speaker 1: so pretty much, I just like compare like the mechanism,
- 4:45Speaker 1: like the secular mechanism to like the hood, like just
- 4:48Speaker 1: like our environment, so like and kind of like spoke
- 4:52Speaker 1: from the perspective of a gun, spoke on different cycles, uh,
- 4:56Speaker 1: and brought it back for a circle at the end.
- 4:58Speaker 1: So pretty much, you know, in a nutshell, like that's
- 5:00Speaker 1: what it was. It was like the most creative ill
- 5:04Speaker 1: way to do what like Nas and Tupac did, but
- 5:08Speaker 1: like over an entire body of word, the entire body
- 5:11Speaker 1: of work, and I just remember, like as a kid,
- 5:13Speaker 1: like hearing like I gave you power, I gave you
- 5:15Speaker 1: powers the best damn. I think it was one of
- 5:17Speaker 1: those songs. I was like, the fuck yeah, powers, like
- 5:20Speaker 1: one of those songs. You're like, nas Is goat man,
- 5:22Speaker 1: what the fuck are we're doing here? I remember, like
- 5:24Speaker 1: I remember, like so uh. I think that it was
- 5:27Speaker 1: just dope that that at least am caught that ship.
- 5:30Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, Like, at least this kind
- 5:32Speaker 1: of catapulted me to this next level. You know what
- 5:34Speaker 1: I'm saying. I mean that means that the project service purpose.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Saying purpose and think about Ematic right, emadic at. I
- 5:40Speaker 1: mean it was was it was an underground favorite. I
- 5:43Speaker 1: mean obviously came out on Columbia, but like really, once
- 5:46Speaker 1: Notves really started a pop, I think a lot of
- 5:48Speaker 1: people had to go back to that show, back to
- 5:50Speaker 1: that ship. Barely just went double platinum like six months ago.
- 5:52Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, We think it Illmatic is
- 5:55Speaker 1: just like the holy grail, the holy grail of hip hop,
- 5:57Speaker 1: and it's like, bro, it's barely double platinum, you know
- 6:00Speaker 1: what I'm saying, Like I guess it reasonable doubt the
- 6:02Speaker 1: same thing right without reasonable out How many people like
- 6:05Speaker 1: no idea about reasonable doubt until Jay started really really
- 6:09Speaker 1: getting these commercial records. And so I think that's kind
- 6:12Speaker 1: of like your moment. So the album, like, obviously, when
- 6:16Speaker 1: you have a body work that's done, you presented the
- 6:17Speaker 1: shady records, right, you picked the song you want eminem
- 6:20Speaker 1: on or does he pick it? Well? I did that,
- 6:23Speaker 1: I did. I don't know how to go usually, but
- 6:25Speaker 1: like I was like, because when I played it, well,
- 6:29Speaker 1: I played it before I told him, so then when
- 6:30Speaker 1: I played it, he was like, damn, this hook, this
- 6:33Speaker 1: hook is dope as fuck. I was like, well, Greg,
- 6:35Speaker 1: the one that's the one I wanted. That's the one
- 6:37Speaker 1: I wanted you on. Yeah. Man, So like nah, I
- 6:40Speaker 1: kind of we are we kind of catered you know
- 6:42Speaker 1: what I'm saying. We kind of catered that ship like
- 6:44Speaker 1: to like, all right, man, let's if we was gonna
- 6:46Speaker 1: get him on a song, what would you know what
- 6:48Speaker 1: I'm saying, what I wanted to be what I don't
- 6:50Speaker 1: want this shit to sound like. So like that's kind
- 6:52Speaker 1: of like why I kind of feel like it was
- 6:55Speaker 1: easy for him to just like walk straight into it,
- 6:57Speaker 1: and it's got to be hard to cause, like especially
- 7:00Speaker 1: brought up Royce and you know I always say Royce,
- 7:02Speaker 1: and I mean Royce is a fucking Jedi. He's a Maniam,
- 7:04Speaker 1: one of the greatest of all time. But you would
- 7:08Speaker 1: think you wouldn't. Like, you get your m verse back,
- 7:13Speaker 1: you get your voice verse back. You already got your
- 7:15Speaker 1: ship done, right, so you gotta like it's almost like
- 7:20Speaker 1: you gotta had already recorded that hoping that they was
- 7:22Speaker 1: gonna get on it, and you went super stupid hard
- 7:25Speaker 1: or did you like recut any of your ship? I
- 7:28Speaker 1: don't recut, man, I don't recut man. I respect, you know,
- 7:31Speaker 1: I respect you know. Sometimes you'll send the record out
- 7:35Speaker 1: with the hook and then the open verse, see what,
- 7:37Speaker 1: see what's okay? This was? I know what I need
- 7:40Speaker 1: to do. It's a cold for me. So like if
- 7:42Speaker 1: I most of the time, if an artist is bigger
- 7:45Speaker 1: than you, they're gonna want they gonna want to hear
- 7:47Speaker 1: your ship on that first right because they don't want
- 7:48Speaker 1: to look crazy cannibish it happened. And yeah, so you know,
- 7:53Speaker 1: out of respect and just like you know, like I said,
- 7:55Speaker 1: it's a cold man like all right, cool. I'm gonna
- 7:57Speaker 1: send it with my shit on that I'm gonna try
- 7:58Speaker 1: to go as hard as possible, but some motherfucker's gonna
- 8:01Speaker 1: flip some shit to go crazy, you know what I'm saying, Like,
- 8:02Speaker 1: and it's just like, hey, it is what it is,
- 8:04Speaker 1: so like with them, like with Royce. With Royce, I
- 8:08Speaker 1: had already had the song constructed, like the first half
- 8:12Speaker 1: in the second half, so he just took the whole
- 8:14Speaker 1: middle you know what I'm saying, the whole middle portion
- 8:17Speaker 1: and killed the shit like, which is what I was
- 8:19Speaker 1: expecting him to do anyways. But then with like m
- 8:21Speaker 1: shit I spent at sixteen, I was just trying to
- 8:24Speaker 1: write some the most motherfucking internal just that lyrical school,
- 8:30Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, Like, I'm going in you
- 8:32Speaker 1: know what I'm saying about the same time, trying to
- 8:33Speaker 1: like do my own thing. So when I said it
- 8:36Speaker 1: to him, you know, and he sent back, and I
- 8:39Speaker 1: was like, I was already knowing that he was coming
- 8:41Speaker 1: with at least thirty six bars, you know what I'm saying,
- 8:43Speaker 1: Like I already knew. I was like, all r I
- 8:45Speaker 1: bet like he went in, he just went the funk
- 8:47Speaker 1: off and it was like, ya, I don't change shit,
- 8:50Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. I never I don't change
- 8:51Speaker 1: nothing like any time. It's crazy too because like I
- 8:54Speaker 1: just feel like am You know what I appreciate about
- 8:58Speaker 1: what Eminem does on Shady is it's not about cloud politics.
- 9:05Speaker 1: It's like who's dope? Yeah, like who like look at it,
- 9:09Speaker 1: Boogie is dope. The Griselda guys fire. Like people forget
- 9:14Speaker 1: when Eminem brought Griselda to Shady, Like Griselda was buzzing
- 9:18Speaker 1: and like amongst the hip hop has like boomback kids,
- 9:21Speaker 1: but it was nothing like it is now. Like he's
- 9:25Speaker 1: super early on you. You know what I'm saying. And
- 9:28Speaker 1: I think it's dope because like a lot of times
- 9:31Speaker 1: we'll see a lot of these executives are artists turns executives,
- 9:33Speaker 1: and it's really about like it's really not it's not
- 9:36Speaker 1: as much about the talent and the capabilities as a
- 9:39Speaker 1: rapper as it is about like the dollar signs. You
- 9:43Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. Yeah, Man, I think that's one
- 9:45Speaker 1: of the things when talking to him. Of course, I
- 9:48Speaker 1: know it's a business, you know what I'm saying. Of course,
- 9:49Speaker 1: Like when I talk to him and shit, it's like
- 9:53Speaker 1: you still felt like he was he's an artist and
- 9:55Speaker 1: like he kind of just like you know what I'm saying.
- 9:57Speaker 1: It's like it's like it's like a coach who used
- 9:59Speaker 1: to play basketball. Yeah, you know what I'm saying. Like
- 10:02Speaker 1: it's a difference. It's a difference a coach who played
- 10:05Speaker 1: in the NBA. Yet different respect them with the players.
- 10:08Speaker 1: That's why you always hear like, yeah, man, this guy
- 10:10Speaker 1: feel me. Ex player always gets the locker room easier,
- 10:13Speaker 1: you feel me, Like, so like I felt that. I
- 10:16Speaker 1: mean I felt that like before we even any paperwork anything,
- 10:21Speaker 1: you know what I mean. And he was just like, yo,
- 10:23Speaker 1: like I don't want to change nothing like I you
- 10:25Speaker 1: know what I mean, Like pretty much, that's just great.
- 10:27Speaker 1: You created control. So I was just like, so you
- 10:29Speaker 1: have created control in your situation. Oh that's fire, that's big,
- 10:33Speaker 1: that's huge. That's a very also very uncommon. Yeah for real.
- 10:39Speaker 1: So obviously Eminem is one of the greatest rappers of
- 10:42Speaker 1: all time. I mean obviously respect him as an MC.
- 10:48Speaker 1: As far as like coming up, like, were you listening
- 10:50Speaker 1: to a lot of like you know, I'm not saying
- 10:52Speaker 1: you were listening to a revival by the way whatever,
- 10:54Speaker 1: if you were love But were you like like, were
- 10:56Speaker 1: you like tapped in as like a pretty big Eminem
- 10:57Speaker 1: fan coming up? Yeah, yeah I was. I could probably
- 11:02Speaker 1: spit Verba, Slim Shady LP all the way to the
- 11:06Speaker 1: Eminem show. Those are my three yeah yeah, and then
- 11:09Speaker 1: eight Mile soundtrack. Yeah, eight Miles soundtrack. I wish you
- 11:11Speaker 1: would have made a whole album when he Bro if
- 11:14Speaker 1: Eminem would have did a whole album when he was
- 11:16Speaker 1: in eight mile fucking mode. Them three records on eight
- 11:19Speaker 1: mile fucking crazy, Yeah, Bro going hard. There's some ship
- 11:23Speaker 1: on the encore too, remember the Yeah, the mid types
- 11:25Speaker 1: and DJ types and show he had a verse. There
- 11:28Speaker 1: was a song called We All Die One Day on
- 11:31Speaker 1: Obie Trice's album. It was Obie Lloyd Banks fifty and Eminem.
- 11:35Speaker 1: It's my favorite Eminem verse ever. I feel like no
- 11:37Speaker 1: one talks about that version, but that era of like
- 11:41Speaker 1: early g unit Hell yeah, Man, eight mile and when
- 11:45Speaker 1: m was jumping on all the who Kid tapes, the
- 11:47Speaker 1: Green Lantern Ship talking about job Rule talking. I mean
- 11:50Speaker 1: it was just like, you know, it's one of the
- 11:52Speaker 1: best eras ever man. Bro. So yeah, no, I was,
- 11:55Speaker 1: I was, Yeah, I was big on them, like before,
- 11:58Speaker 1: what's your favorite album from him? Like favorite, I'm not
- 12:01Speaker 1: saying best because I think they're different. Ship probably the
- 12:05Speaker 1: maybe the show that's my favorite. I think, like probably
- 12:09Speaker 1: the best. You could probably say Martial Matters, but to
- 12:11Speaker 1: me and a show is the one, Yeah, because I
- 12:14Speaker 1: think like Marshall Mathers LP, like I wanted And I
- 12:17Speaker 1: remember the first time I lived Bro. I vividly remember
- 12:22Speaker 1: like my big sister had just maybe she had just
- 12:25Speaker 1: got our license or some ship and we're just driving
- 12:28Speaker 1: up the street to mom, can we go to the
- 12:30Speaker 1: to the gas station or whatever, and flying off with
- 12:33Speaker 1: c the end. You know what I'm saying, Like literally
- 12:34Speaker 1: just wanted some wild ship. I'm gonna kill you, see
- 12:38Speaker 1: what I'm saying. Like, So it was hard, Bro, like
- 12:40Speaker 1: Mom turned that ship off, You're gonna take my cut?
- 12:43Speaker 1: And I could I could hear like how his style
- 12:45Speaker 1: had changed and ship like him adjusting to you know,
- 12:48Speaker 1: to the industry and ship. So it was dope, man,
- 12:50Speaker 1: But I probably say the eminem Show shows my ship.
- 12:52Speaker 1: So what's been dope about just watching Atlanta over the
- 12:56Speaker 1: last like five or six years. It's just like Atlanta,
- 12:59Speaker 1: I obviously well for the last twenty to twenty. It's
- 13:03Speaker 1: been twenty strong years where Atlanta's ran rap music, right,
- 13:07Speaker 1: but like just in terms of like you know, obviously
- 13:10Speaker 1: there's the Migos, twenty one, Savage Chains, like all these
- 13:13Speaker 1: guys who've been like superstars shaping the culture. But to
- 13:17Speaker 1: see guys like Ji d, to see Black, to see
- 13:21Speaker 1: yourself like all like like Atlanta always to me was
- 13:26Speaker 1: like you know, growing up, Outcast was my favorite shit,
- 13:30Speaker 1: like Equiminized, my second favorite album, Ember, and like it's
- 13:34Speaker 1: just dope that like there's still that like like lineage
- 13:38Speaker 1: of like you know that that energy still coming out
- 13:42Speaker 1: of that A And what's dope about it too is
- 13:45Speaker 1: now it's like you know, I'm sure when you were
- 13:48Speaker 1: growing up and I when we were probably coming up
- 13:49Speaker 1: around the same era, it felt like hip hop was
- 13:52Speaker 1: a lot more segregated. Yeah, it'd be like this is
- 13:54Speaker 1: the real rap shit, this the commercial shit, this the
- 13:58Speaker 1: boom bab shit. But now I feel like everyone just
- 14:00Speaker 1: fucks with each other. Like it's like, you know, you
- 14:03Speaker 1: remember how crazy it was when telip Quality did a
- 14:06Speaker 1: song with jay Z. Yeah, or it wasn't even that
- 14:11Speaker 1: it was it was it wasn't even that. It was
- 14:13Speaker 1: it wasn't even that. Actually, I take that back. It
- 14:15Speaker 1: was just the fact that Jay shouted out tlip quality
- 14:17Speaker 1: on a song. They didn't even do a record together.
- 14:19Speaker 1: It was what he said lyrically, I'd be telling quality
- 14:22Speaker 1: everything like oh my god, he shout like common sense, right,
- 14:26Speaker 1: like common sense. But it's crazy to think like we
- 14:31Speaker 1: came from an era when like the rocket ship, the
- 14:35Speaker 1: common ship, the black Star ship was like another world
- 14:38Speaker 1: from Nas and jay Z because they were commercially successful artists.
- 14:41Speaker 1: But I feel like nowadays, like everything blends in together.
- 14:44Speaker 1: Yeah somewhat for the most part. Yeah, like you would
- 14:47Speaker 1: see like you know, Griselda doing records with two chains,
- 14:51Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. And I think that come
- 14:53Speaker 1: out of like just like that, see like for instance
- 14:56Speaker 1: like outcasts and and uh and motherfucking who who would
- 15:02Speaker 1: jump on that a frequent a frequent collaborator too, like
- 15:05Speaker 1: like they had some wu tang on that ship, Yeah
- 15:07Speaker 1: what I'm saying. So, like you know, like I think
- 15:10Speaker 1: it's like so like it was to the bar b
- 15:13Speaker 1: respect thing like like oh no, I see y'all doing
- 15:16Speaker 1: y'all things with it, like and if time allows like
- 15:19Speaker 1: ship let's let's think about like even like big Boy, right,
- 15:22Speaker 1: he just he put out He's I mean I just
- 15:25Speaker 1: think like as a kid, like to think that like
- 15:27Speaker 1: a trapped out rapper like Jez would do a song
- 15:30Speaker 1: with outcasts. It just wouldn't make sense to me as
- 15:32Speaker 1: a fan. But but now yeah, but it's like I'm
- 15:35Speaker 1: just glad that, like because I used to be one
- 15:37Speaker 1: of them little hip hop snopper. I mean that ain't
- 15:39Speaker 1: real rap ship man? The fuck is this ship man?
- 15:42Speaker 1: But it's like all this ship is fun, It's all
- 15:44Speaker 1: it's it's how do you feel about like kind of
- 15:48Speaker 1: the current state of Atlanta and just like where it
- 15:51Speaker 1: is as far as like artists integrity, Like I feel
- 15:53Speaker 1: like Atlanta still runs this whole ship bro, Like yeah,
- 15:58Speaker 1: I think that, Uh. I think it's in a place. Man,
- 16:00Speaker 1: I think that has a decent balance, you know what
- 16:04Speaker 1: I'm saying. I feel like, uh, the trap the trap ship,
- 16:07Speaker 1: or at least the trap sound, you know what I'm saying.

- 16:22Speaker 1: if it may not have been. It's like as hard
- 16:24Speaker 1: as it was like ten years ago, but it's still
- 16:27Speaker 1: like the hardest ship is. It dominates the airwaves, you
- 16:31Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, Like it's it's more friendly on
- 16:33Speaker 1: the ear now, you know what I'm saying, Like kids
- 16:34Speaker 1: can fuck with it, and and everybody twenty one Savage rappers,
- 16:39Speaker 1: ass Offgos feel literally probably the most influential rappers in
- 16:43Speaker 1: the last decades. So I saw I fucked with it, bro,
- 16:46Speaker 1: and then and then on the just like the lyrical
- 16:48Speaker 1: side of things, you know, just like I feel like
- 16:52Speaker 1: we all gotta like we kind of fuck with the
- 16:54Speaker 1: like for the most part, everybody fucked with each other,
- 16:56Speaker 1: right right, you know what I'm saying in Atlanta, you
- 16:59Speaker 1: know what I'm saying from on the lyrical shit. So
- 17:00Speaker 1: like like I said, like like jid, like that's the
- 17:03Speaker 1: homie and shit. So like you know, we talk out there.

- 18:53Speaker 1: On one night? Man a wing? This, a wing this side.
- 18:56Speaker 1: I heard the Blue Flame is better food wise? Maybe
- 18:59Speaker 1: I don't know. Guess what Killer Mike told me. No, no,
- 19:02Speaker 1: I ain't going. I ain't going. I ain't gonna. But
- 19:05Speaker 1: you say, yeah, he's of the flying Alright, let's see
- 19:08Speaker 1: if we talking about food ship Cheetah is a five
- 19:10Speaker 1: star restaurant, and that's like they play like nickel back
- 19:13Speaker 1: in there. I don't know what they play. Yeah, yo,
- 19:19Speaker 1: Jared Benon tried to take me to the Claremont Lounge.
- 19:22Speaker 1: That's like a real scums, a little freak show. He said.
- 19:25Speaker 1: There was midgets and elderly women showing there. Bro, one arm,

- 19:37Speaker 1: old women in one arm. Yeah, man, midget all kinds
- 19:41Speaker 1: of ship is one of them. Player. I could imagine
- 19:43Speaker 1: like that ship being in like Tijuana or some ship.
- 19:46Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, Like just a just a
- 19:47Speaker 1: random knight. Just drive down there and just like you
- 19:49Speaker 1: ever been to teacher No man were playing on going sooner. Man,

- 20:08Speaker 1: you know, obviously with I don't know how your deal structure.
- 20:10Speaker 1: But what was kind of cool about what happened with
- 20:11Speaker 1: Grizelda was like they were signed a Shady but they
- 20:13Speaker 1: also were just dropping independent shiite. It was like, Yo,
- 20:17Speaker 1: what the fuck is going on? Is this on Shady?
- 20:19Speaker 1: Is it's not on Shady? Like Conway still hasn't dropped
- 20:21Speaker 1: his Shady Records album and I heard it like a
- 20:23Speaker 1: year ago, but like, what's like your situation? Are you
- 20:28Speaker 1: gonna just flood the fucking marketplace? So like that ship
- 20:31Speaker 1: was released, Uh, it was distributed to Shady. I died
- 20:36Speaker 1: for this. Uh so that straight society through Shady distribution.
- 20:42Speaker 1: But yeah, man, so I mean technically we haven't even
- 20:45Speaker 1: had a debut, so technically they just distributed the project.
- 20:50Speaker 1: Yeah technically, Yeah, so they haven't had a debut Shady
- 20:54Speaker 1: album yet, but we'll be one for sure. Are you
- 20:56Speaker 1: already working on it? Yeah? Okay, okay? Is that gonna
- 20:59Speaker 1: be something where you like let him come in and
- 21:01Speaker 1: maybe do some executive producing or you kind of got
- 21:04Speaker 1: you got the creative control. If the executive produces it,
- 21:08Speaker 1: you're gonna have Skyler Gray singing on every fucking hook.
- 21:14Speaker 1: You're gonna have Pink and Skylar Grace singing on everything.
- 21:19Speaker 1: Bring Yeah, yeah, shout out to him a legend. But nah,
- 21:24Speaker 1: as far as like you're you're you know what you're
- 21:27Speaker 1: a fan of right now? Artists who inspire you right now?
- 21:30Speaker 1: Who's out there that you're like really? Just like, man,
- 21:33Speaker 1: I'm just a fan politics aside. I just fun with
- 21:36Speaker 1: your ship. Let's see uh tr Ot for sure. You
- 21:43Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, Uh fuck with school Boy heavy
- 21:47Speaker 1: Kendrick of course, Uh Kendrick verse on that family ties crazy? Yeah, yeah,
- 21:52Speaker 1: better than Drake's whole album, that verse he says, I
- 21:56Speaker 1: said it not you, he smoked on your top five?
- 22:00Speaker 1: Uh ship? Who else we got? Of course? Like Cole
- 22:03Speaker 1: with Cole uh jigs. You know what I'm saying, Anderson
- 22:07Speaker 1: pat Ship Man Tyler is fucking really killing it right now.
- 22:14Speaker 1: His album is so crazy. Yeah, bro, he put a
- 22:17Speaker 1: whole rapping ass gangster grills out in this album of
- 22:19Speaker 1: the year. He's in a He's in a in a
- 22:21Speaker 1: different bad right now. Oh man, of course three stacks.
- 22:27Speaker 1: I'm still waiting to god, Damn did you hear or
- 22:29Speaker 1: some ship? Did you hear the Kanye song? Oh man? God, Like,
- 22:33Speaker 1: how did this not make the album? I mean that
- 22:35Speaker 1: second verse that Kanye came, I was like, what's he doing?
- 22:38Speaker 1: Like he kind of just ruined, like what was going
- 22:41Speaker 1: on the song. It's like, Bro, did you not just
- 22:43Speaker 1: hear Andre cours fucking hard out? Like, yo, you come
- 22:46Speaker 1: here talking to other ship. I mean maybe that's why
- 22:49Speaker 1: it just didn't come out. Yeah, yeah, I get it,
- 22:51Speaker 1: but yeah no, of course, like I'm waiting. I'm waiting
- 22:55Speaker 1: bro for the day that and I'm sending three stacks
- 22:58Speaker 1: a fucking song. Bro, bro it You know what it
- 23:01Speaker 1: feels like with andre basically, like when I saw him
- 23:04Speaker 1: put out that statement about that song where he was like,
- 23:06Speaker 1: I love to work with Kendrake. I'm like, I feel
- 23:08Speaker 1: like he would do a lot more versus if people
- 23:11Speaker 1: would just ask people reached out to I don't think
- 23:13Speaker 1: people reach out to him because I just feel like
- 23:14Speaker 1: people think he's unobtainable. People to find his ass, you
- 23:18Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, just in random places, fucking you
- 23:21Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, eating that food and playing the
- 23:23Speaker 1: flute and crazy. Some people might say they saw him
- 23:25Speaker 1: in a concert or some ship. It's Andre, like your
- 23:28Speaker 1: like number one all time three stacks. Yeah, I think
- 23:33Speaker 1: Andreas He's in my top five. Man. Yeah, I feel
- 23:37Speaker 1: like Outcast is undisputably the greatest hip hop group of
- 23:39Speaker 1: all time. Yeah, yeah, it's close with the I think that.
- 23:44Speaker 1: I think for me it's it's it's outcast and then
- 23:48Speaker 1: I like Wu Tang Tribe as my three I was
- 23:52Speaker 1: kind of my personal I might say t yeah, yeah,
- 23:57Speaker 1: outcast Wu Tang Tribe. And then from there it's really
- 24:00Speaker 1: whatever you're into. Gangstar Mob, I mean Gang Star Primo
- 24:04Speaker 1: wasn't rapping, yeah mob deep Yeah, I mean n w A.
- 24:09Speaker 1: But me with like n w A, I just like
- 24:11Speaker 1: that ship was before No Limits Soldiers, that was really ship.
- 24:17Speaker 1: It was ship slip. Yeah, I got that. Yeah. Yeah,
- 24:22Speaker 1: Murders remember Magic You remember uh every time you get
- 24:28Speaker 1: a no Limited album, it'd be all these fucking albums
- 24:31Speaker 1: that like every like you'd be like, Yo, when the
- 24:34Speaker 1: fuck is this little Soldier's album ever? Yeah? Mercedes rear End, Bro.
- 24:42Speaker 1: You know how many times I touched myself as a
- 24:44Speaker 1: kid to that album cover. That was the closest thing
- 24:46Speaker 1: to pussy I had. I've been like, yo, let me
- 24:48Speaker 1: let me see Mercedes fucking cross on this fucking album cover.
- 24:53Speaker 1: It was like never I never heard none of the music. Never.
- 24:56Speaker 1: How many there were so many no limited artists like that?
- 24:59Speaker 1: Son A Harmony, a bunch of mac Yeah, brouh Fiend
- 25:05Speaker 1: was dope, though there's one in every family was fire.
- 25:09Speaker 1: And then also how many different versions of the five
- 25:12Speaker 1: or four Boys album was promoted. Every no Limited album
- 25:16Speaker 1: you'd buy, it'd be like five or four Boys coming soon,
- 25:19Speaker 1: and they'd be like one version would have like c Murders,
- 25:23Speaker 1: Mister cool Pe and Silk in it. And then the
- 25:27Speaker 1: next album you buy, it'd be like five or four
- 25:29Speaker 1: Boys coming soon with Snoop Dogg in the fiber four
- 25:34Speaker 1: four Boys album. Can wait for this ship for two years? Yeah.
- 25:37Speaker 1: I used to have a No Limit chain as a kid.
- 25:39Speaker 1: I think we had to tang on them, the little
- 25:41Speaker 1: silver guy from the mall, from the Beautiful Story, and
- 25:44Speaker 1: then they put their fucking clothes out and I couldn't
- 25:46Speaker 1: afford I was trying to get one of them No
- 25:47Speaker 1: Limit ninety nine jerseys and mister Rags, but them sh
- 25:50Speaker 1: was like one hundred dollars and I could never afford these. Yeah,

- 25:54Speaker 1: had the masterpiece market. Do you ever get the masterpiece sneakers?
- 25:59Speaker 1: I think that by that point, I think I was
- 26:01Speaker 1: kind of just like, yeah, you know, what was crazy? Hey,
- 26:04Speaker 1: the No Limit ship was so popping, and then it
- 26:06Speaker 1: just wasn't really fast go bro, but like so fast.
- 26:12Speaker 1: It was like the hottest ship in the world. And
- 26:14Speaker 1: then it was just over yeah man, And it was
- 26:17Speaker 1: I feel like the last master P album where I
- 26:19Speaker 1: was like, oh, this ship ain't it It is the
- 26:21Speaker 1: only guy can judge me ship with the cross the
- 26:23Speaker 1: diamond out cross on the front. I remember I listened
- 26:25Speaker 1: to that ship. I was like, it's over with and
- 26:28Speaker 1: then he put out the album where he had he
- 26:31Speaker 1: was in his hornets jersey on the basketball court on
- 26:33Speaker 1: the cover. Yeah, man, ghetto. I think MP The Last
- 26:37Speaker 1: Down was probably the last No Limited album I really
- 26:38Speaker 1: fucked with. I kind of like it was the one
- 26:42Speaker 1: that had like the three D cover with the top
- 26:43Speaker 1: hat and the rings and ship had make him say
- 26:45Speaker 1: Part two on it. Yeah. See he had movies and
- 26:50Speaker 1: lot like I got the hook up with fire. I
- 26:53Speaker 1: got the hookup was so slept on bro. Yeah. I

- 29:23Speaker 1: who is some Southern influences coming up as an MC
- 29:26Speaker 1: that really you know, kind of helped shape your your style.
- 29:30Speaker 1: That was like, oh, Ship, there's other motherfuckers out here.

- 31:14Speaker 1: just kind of paying hommage to ignore that to Erar
- 31:17Speaker 1: and ship. So but you know how people do nowaday,
- 31:19Speaker 1: So I would probably just do it with it. Was
- 31:21Speaker 1: there any uh, any sort of competition as far as
- 31:26Speaker 1: whether or not you signed with Shady? Were there other
- 31:28Speaker 1: people you were considering signing with mm kind of? But

- 32:11Speaker 1: an rs or whoever that was bringing the deals to
- 32:13Speaker 1: the table and ship, like I slicked just like didn't
- 32:15Speaker 1: talk to them for a while and ship. And it's
- 32:18Speaker 1: not like I was mad at them because I know,
- 32:19Speaker 1: like it ain't Joe fault you saying and ship to
- 32:22Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying to the bosses and ship.
- 32:24Speaker 1: But you know, so I gotta get over that type
- 32:26Speaker 1: of ship. You know what I'm saying. I would chip
- 32:28Speaker 1: on my shoulder and ship, you know what I mean? Yeah? Yeah,
- 32:31Speaker 1: it's hey, man, the most emotional friends I have are
- 32:35Speaker 1: are artists because it's it's like you almost have to
- 32:38Speaker 1: be an emotional person to give a fuck that much
- 32:40Speaker 1: to get so good at something and it's art, right,
- 32:43Speaker 1: So you're it's it's like you watched the Last Dance,
- 32:46Speaker 1: of course, fucking mad at anything anything, And when you're
- 32:49Speaker 1: talking about art like this is like literally like your
- 32:51Speaker 1: blood sweating tears right right, you really you know what
- 32:54Speaker 1: I'm saying. It's not like you're you're you're like a
- 32:57Speaker 1: contractor and you put in flooring or something like. Now,
- 33:00Speaker 1: this is my art, bro, this is like my expression,
- 33:02Speaker 1: this is my everything life. You're putting out here, man,
- 33:05Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying and putting out here for
- 33:07Speaker 1: the world to hear. Well, Look, the album is out
- 33:10Speaker 1: and you're working. It's not even your Shady Records debut, Yeah,
- 33:14Speaker 1: just distributed. You got the distrust the debut release, say,
- 33:17Speaker 1: debut album. What is it like? You know, obviously, Paul's
- 33:21Speaker 1: a guy who is a legendary executive. You know, was
- 33:24Speaker 1: running death Cham for a few years, has managed a
- 33:26Speaker 1: bunch of big art I mean, eminem but also you know,
- 33:29Speaker 1: mismanaging action boonton for a little bit. What's Paul like?
- 33:31Speaker 1: You know, I feel like we don't really know a
- 33:34Speaker 1: lot about Paul as far as like most executives are
- 33:36Speaker 1: a little bit more out there than he is as
- 33:40Speaker 1: far as doing interviews and ship, Like, how is he? Yeah, man, Paul,
- 33:44Speaker 1: Paul is cool man, I am. I heard so many
- 33:48Speaker 1: different things before, you know what I'm saying getting into
- 33:50Speaker 1: the situation about Paul, you know, so like just from everywhere,
- 33:54Speaker 1: so like you know, I kind of just like washed
- 33:56Speaker 1: that out and went and ready to just like assess
- 33:59Speaker 1: it myself, get your own opinion. Yeah, so far, so
- 34:03Speaker 1: good man, cool man. You know what I'm saying. We
- 34:05Speaker 1: him and tied talks all the time and ship, you
- 34:07Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, shooting text messages and ship. So
- 34:10Speaker 1: you know, Paul's cool man, like from from what I
- 34:14Speaker 1: you know, I man and meeting them and ship. How
- 34:16Speaker 1: big did you go to Eminem's house when you went
- 34:17Speaker 1: to Detroit? We went to the studio. Oh he's got
- 34:20Speaker 1: his own studio, right, I'm sure he hasn't He has
- 34:23Speaker 1: his own studio. But so you went to Detroit though, Yeah,
- 34:25Speaker 1: I went to Detroit. Is that like you gotta go
- 34:27Speaker 1: to Like I feel like Eminem's not going nowhere? You
- 34:29Speaker 1: got to go to Detroit. Yeah, You're gonna come to
- 34:31Speaker 1: Detroit whenever I see like Eminem somewhere else besides Michigan.
- 34:34Speaker 1: I'm like, what's going on, man? He was in La
- 34:37Speaker 1: for what it must be working on the Detos or something.
- 34:39Speaker 1: All right, all right, you're gonna pull up to Detroit,
- 34:41Speaker 1: you know, if he's working on any new music himself,
- 34:44Speaker 1: because his music to be murdered by the best shit
- 34:46Speaker 1: he's put out in like hard oh incredible too. I'm
- 34:51Speaker 1: not gonna lie this. I said this, you know, because
- 34:53Speaker 1: I've been very critical of m and his music over
- 34:56Speaker 1: the last eight or nine years. Music to me, murdered
- 34:59Speaker 1: By at the end of the year was like my
- 35:02Speaker 1: second most listening. It made me feel like vintage Eminem.
- 35:05Speaker 1: I felt like he handled some production. It sounds because
- 35:07Speaker 1: you you know, back in the day and with you know,
- 35:10Speaker 1: it's crazy because I don't think Eminem ever got enough
- 35:13Speaker 1: love as a producer because he had a he had
- 35:15Speaker 1: a literal sound. He's nasty and but em had a
- 35:18Speaker 1: sound where you'd be like, oh no, those are Eminem drums.
- 35:20Speaker 1: This sounds like an Eminem b like when he did
- 35:22Speaker 1: the Cross for Nows or whatever, like you know, that's
- 35:23Speaker 1: an MB and I feel like he kind of got
- 35:26Speaker 1: back to like that. Yeah, because man, I ain't man
- 35:30Speaker 1: shot men. Listen, bro Skylar Gray Man, Skylar fucking gray
- 35:36Speaker 1: Man man list when I saw music be murdered, but
- 35:40Speaker 1: I looked at the track list and I got so
- 35:41Speaker 1: mad because I saw her name on there again. But
- 35:43Speaker 1: she was cool on this one. God damn. Everyone was
- 35:47Speaker 1: like it is crazy because, like I gotta tell my man,
- 35:50Speaker 1: my mass is a fan. You know what I'm saying,
