- 1:37Assalamu Alaikum. And welcome back to another
- 1:39episode on your favorite Shia Muslim podcast.
- 1:42After Maghrib. We are in the vibes of
- 1:45spirituality. It is the holy blessed month of
- 1:47Ramadan and this is our second episode for this holy month.
- 1:50I really hope you tuned in to last week's episode because if
- 1:53you haven't, you have missed out on what it means to be a true
- 1:57believer, a true movement with your, with your brothers and
- 2:02with your community members. So please, please go back and
- 2:04watch that episode and show Allah.
- 2:06Now, this week is no different. We still want to continue our
- 2:09spiritual growth, our journey towards Allah.
- 2:12And I know today is going to be a fantastic conversation because
- 2:15we have a fantastic, amazing guest.
- 2:18And before we introduce him, first of all, Ahmed Salam.
- 2:31How are you doing? I'm OK Hamdallah.
- 2:34We are like you said bro, we are back in the studio.
- 2:37It's good to be back. We had amazing, amazing
- 2:41discussion last week and guys, we are now like nearly at the
- 2:45halfway, halfway there, which is crazy to think how fast the
- 2:48month is going to panel law. But brothers, sisters, I hope
- 2:52the month is going well for you and Charlotte and we are fast
- 2:54approaching the willada of our said our Imam and Hassan and
- 2:59Mushtaba Salah Ali. And and this is the time
- 3:03Inshallah, where we are going to talk about his life, many of the
- 3:05honours, the virtues he had and some misconceptions we have or
- 3:08not we have others have about his blessed personality and
- 3:11biography. But before we get into that, say
- 3:13it. As we mentioned last week, this
- 3:15come this holy month, inshallah is a campaign where we are
- 3:18working in partnership with the Zahara Trust.
- 3:20That's true and Zahara Trust is someone we that I mentioned last
- 3:24week as episode. That's it's a charity that I
- 3:27know the work that they put personally and every pound and
- 3:31every cent and every dollar that you give towards this charity
- 3:35goes to where it's needed most. And this is something I can say
- 3:38hand on heart because I know the team behind the scenes and
- 3:41Hamdallah, they are a great team and they're amazing on what they
- 3:43do. Before I just speak a bit more
- 3:45about the Zaharat Trust, we are inshallah remembering the
- 3:49special birth of Imam Hazard and Mustaba.
- 3:51He's known as what? And Charlotte, we can become
- 3:55coming like him and be generous and this holy one.
- 3:57Yeah, and you know what say many of the things that we know the
- 4:01world need, right needs right now can be found in the embrace
- 4:04of our mothers? Honestly, you know, the warmth
- 4:07of the mother, the hug, the embrace, the love, the art of
- 4:09the mother means a lot to us. And in these blessed days, many
- 4:12of us, many of those who who have the blessing to live with
- 4:16their parents or spend time with their family, know that your
- 4:18mother's, even despite sometimes their old age, will still go to
- 4:22extreme lengths to give you a thought and you know, make your
- 4:25home blessed for the holy month. And this is kind of brings me to
- 4:29something especially specific campaign which I really want to
- 4:32touch on, which I know the Zahara Shras are running this
- 4:35month. And that is the midwifery
- 4:37program and the support that they're giving remote
- 4:40communities in areas that we really don't really like reach.
- 4:44You know, there are a lot of communities, for example, the
- 4:46mountainous regions of Afghanistan or Pakistan, for
- 4:49example, when there is a lady who's pregnant in these
- 4:54villages, A, it's difficult to get to a local hospital.
- 4:59And for those of us who've had children, we know that it's not
- 5:01something you can spend long time planning and travelling.
- 5:04Labour is an intensive and short period of time.
- 5:07And B, the other thing is sanitation.
- 5:09Access to equipment is sometimes hard, hard to obtain.
- 5:13So what does our trust are doing as part of their skills
- 5:16development program is supporting women in Pakistan
- 5:20specifically with midwifery training, which is in essence
- 5:24training women in the community to become midwives, Right.
- 5:27And Pakistan is, speaking as a Pakistani, it's one of the most
- 5:31hard hit countries worldwide where there is a maternity death
- 5:36every two minutes, someone is dying in childbirth, a mother, a
- 5:41baby every two minutes. And there's our trust are
- 5:44working with every pregnancy this year so that they can
- 5:47provide things like C-section drapes, curtains basically that
- 5:50protect mothers who are giving birth and who need an emergency
- 5:54C-section. What else they providing say?
- 5:55In addition to this, they are offering all pregnant women
- 5:58nutrition forms of medication, tablets to help them throughout
- 6:03their pregnancy. Like vitamins?
- 6:04Like vitamins? Yes.
- 6:05Nice. And for those who know in the UK
- 6:07or in the Western world, we have the blessing and the benefit to
- 6:09be able to access that. Stuff.
- 6:10Take it for granted. Like we live in London and, and,
- 6:13you know, we've had Hamdullah, we've, we've got children saved
- 6:16and we know that, you know, in those times when, when, when our
- 6:19wives were pregnant, they were given vitamins by our local
- 6:23health service. And we live in one of the
- 6:25richest cities on earth. And we're talking about people
- 6:27who don't have access to for these nutrients.
- 6:29So it goes a long way. Brothers, sisters, we are
- 6:31supporting. Make sure you do check out the
- 6:33link in the description below. It's a must, it's a must, it's a
- 6:37must. You know, we have this campaign,
- 6:38you've done amazing so far. Please keep supporting it so we
- 6:41can help these people in immediate need and inshallah
- 6:44give them a long term generational benefit as well.
- 6:47Say they can also find us on Instagram.
- 6:49Yes they can. Where?
- 6:51Come on bro, click the what in the what kick?
- 6:54The bio. Kick the link in the bio.
- 6:55Oh, you're. Testing me, Sorry.
- 6:57Yeah. Bro, I am testing you.
- 6:59I'm testing you, bro. And yeah, guys, stay up to date
- 7:01because this is going to be an incredible campaign.
- 7:03We've only got a couple of weeks left of the holy month and we
- 7:05want to make the most of it. Now I think it's time, say, to
- 7:08kick off the conversation. It is indeed and Insha Allah
- 7:10would love to introduce. Reintroduce.
- 7:12Reintroduce and shot Allah to this episode.
- 7:15Someone who no doubt will share so much words of gems and
- 7:19wisdoms and someone we all look up to and listen to and learn
- 7:22from. And that's none other than, say,
- 7:24the Mohammed al Shara all the way from Dearborn, MI, said
- 7:29Salaam. Alaikum Salah, how are you?
- 7:33How are? You.
- 7:36Thank you so much for coming back to after work, my honor.
- 7:39Thank you SO. Glad that we have you, Al
- 7:41Hamdullah. For those who don't know, we had
- 7:43one of What's up I. Was going to say.
- 7:49We we had one of the most memorable conversations.
- 7:52That was very fun. We had.
- 7:55The It's as if we did it yesterday.
- 7:57One time has gone by. Time has gone by and I know I'm
- 8:00not really expressing it, but I am a fanatically screaming child
- 8:05with joy right now and back. I am so excited, happy.
- 8:09I'm trying to maintain my composure.
- 8:10We, we, it must be because it's a lot of, I said a lot.
- 8:14Of among brothers as well. And it's so good to be back.
- 8:18So thank you for again. I thank you Shahram al Mubarak
- 8:21and Shaha and the birth of Imam al Mushtabali Saddam Mubarak to
- 8:25all of you. Also, congratulations to all the
- 8:28viewers and listeners around the world, wherever you are watching
- 8:31or listening from saying that when we had you last time, you
- 8:35know, we asked you a question. You know, if you were stranded
- 8:37on an island. Oh yeah, you you gave some wild
- 8:41but fantastic answers such As, for example, I'll take a gym.
- 8:43Yes. I'll take a I'll take a as well.
- 8:46I've got a similar question, but it's not as crazy as that one.
- 8:49OK. What do you think of the
- 8:50aftermath of set? The set?
- 8:52Yeah. It's very simple.
- 8:54Because the set has changed, it's different.
- 8:56Yeah, yeah, it's different, yeah, but.
- 8:58I haven't asked this question to any other really.
- 9:00Yeah. Yeah.
- 9:01OK. So from you it means a lot.
- 9:03It's great. What, what, what?
- 9:04Do you like the most and what would you change?
- 9:07Oh, come on. I mean.
- 9:08OK, maybe I'll leave it to you, honey.
- 9:10You know, an interior design may not be my thing, but if I had to
- 9:15add something, I would add a gym Enon Fusini.
- 9:20We need a dumbbell and we we have a.
- 9:22We need a member. Here, yeah, we need a.
- 9:24Member and a dumbbell. But no, honestly, I'm so happy
- 9:27to see where you guys have come and I was blessed to be in the
- 9:31old space and I'm happy to be here and I can't wait to see
- 9:33what's what's next every time I come.
- 9:35You guys are just progressing. So inshallah with more visits in
- 9:38progress. And you know, we spoke about
- 9:40Imam Immuno, what we need last time, and I'm so happy to be
- 9:43talking about his son this time. I think we're doing.
- 9:46Is there a theme here now? Maybe the next time, Mama
- 9:49Hussein, why not? Mama's in Ave. in town for why
- 9:51not in Shawn? Why not?
- 9:53It's an honor. And with each one there's a new
- 9:55studio as well possible. It's shallow.
- 9:58Leveling up. Leveling up.
- 10:01Why not man so? Listen, I'll be honest.
- 10:03Look, when we first spoke a few weeks ago, we, we told you that
- 10:08we wanted to specifically talk about Mama hasn't Ali Salaam
- 10:11because to be real, we, I don't feel we appreciate him as a
- 10:17community, as his she are so many, so many hundreds of years
- 10:20later. We know his story.
- 10:22We have we are blessed with with resources, we have access to
- 10:26Hadith and we celebrate him, but we don't really know a lot about
- 10:31him. I think, but more so there is a
- 10:35specific, I would say myths that needs to be debunked or a series
- 10:39of myths. And I know you've done a lecture
- 10:40series on this a couple of years ago in the US.
- 10:43But about the specific treaty between Mahawya Ibn Abu Sufyan
- 10:47and Imam Hassan and Salam and the treaty which was of course,
- 10:50we know signed in the year 41 after Hijra, where it is said
- 10:56that Imam Hassan Ali Salam sought peace with Mahawya.
- 11:00And try to and and people obviously have different
- 11:03versions of events. Some say that Imam failed as a
- 11:06political leader. Some say that the Imam failed to
- 11:08lead an uprising as a military leader.
- 11:10Some say that the Imam backed out of confrontation with
- 11:14Mahalia. But these are a number of
- 11:17accusations that are thrown at us by other schools and, and
- 11:21those who tried to troll us. To be honest, I feel like we've,
- 11:25for those who have had the years of research and who have been
- 11:27able to develop an understanding, have, have come
- 11:29to a strong conviction that I know why my Imam did this.
- 11:34But of course, a lot of our younger listeners or those who
- 11:36are new to the faith are still perhaps learning about this.
- 11:39Where do we begin to analyse this?
- 11:43There's a lot of angles that I want to ask you about this,
- 11:45specifically the context prior to the treaty itself.
- 11:48Right, right. I know this subject is a very
- 11:51comprehensive one because it involves history and often times
- 11:55the subject matter of history relates to historicity.
- 11:59So the accuracy of the material and the literature that you're
- 12:02looking at before you begin to decide what is going on in the
- 12:06scene, you have to 1st learn is what I have legitimate,
- 12:09reliable, resourceful. So that's why there's a whole
- 12:11host of levels to go through in order to understand and diagnose
- 12:15a matter as contentious, contentious as the Al Imam al
- 12:20Hassan, Alayhi Salaam and Muhaliyeb and Abu Sufyan in
- 12:24exactly the year 41 after the hegira.
- 12:27Thank you for mentioning Yanni, the series that we did.
- 12:30It's because of, in light of this exact point that Imam al
- 12:33Mushtaba has not gotten the credit that he deserves for the
- 12:36sacrifices he's done. And the attention we give him is
- 12:38not tantamount to the sacrifice that he has put forth.
- 12:43So we did this thing called Lay Ali al Hassania, the Hassani
- 12:46Knights. And I'll be honest, it was
- 12:48complicated. It was challenging to rally up
- 12:50the community to understand and appreciate that look, you can do
- 12:5310 nights on one man. It's not only a matter of Imam
- 12:56Hussein, although Liam Kyom. OK, about Abdullah, which are
- 12:59his words. Imam Hassan.
- 13:00I had a debate. Our beacons of knowledge,
- 13:03fountains of wisdom. And 10 nights is actually
- 13:06little. Yeah, in reality Imam and wished
- 13:08about the more I had to study to do 10 each one hour each one
- 13:13whatever and we ended the last one on the 7th of Safar so that
- 13:16it coincided with his shihad and we just did the muktat.
- 13:19Imam Hassan, you can do a muktat for him, you can do lectures
- 13:22each different unique topics related to him.
- 13:24So the material is there. Yeah, but I mean it takes it
- 13:28takes effort. And having done this, I came to
- 13:31a point that man this Imam is absolutely under appreciated.
- 13:35Yeah, From what Little is known to that which is known being
- 13:40misunderstood. Yeah, You have the situation,
- 13:42Little is known, and then what's already known is misunderstood.
- 13:45Yeah. Peace agreement.
- 13:47Why did this happen anyways? Why should he?
- 13:49Why did he not rise? This is an allegation that
- 13:51happened in his lifetime, which unfortunately still lives today.
- 13:55So it goes back to the whole historical discussion because
- 13:58it's history. Yeah.
- 13:59And I think in this case, Imam Al Hassan Alayhi as Salaam has
- 14:06been the victim of serial mass propaganda.
- 14:10And I think he is the biggest victim of this mass propaganda.
- 14:13If Imam Ali Ali Salam had it really hard with the pulpits
- 14:16giving him condemnation on every single Friday, Imam Al Hassan
- 14:20Ali Salaam, we've done him injustice.
- 14:22At least with Imam Ali Ali, we don't do any of that as Shia,
- 14:25OK, but today with Imam and Mushtaba, we've also failed him
- 14:31as those who follow him as those who love him foul Len without I
- 14:35mean even recognizing those that have absolutely nothing to do
- 14:39with Imam and Mushtaba who have hijacked him just to be simply a
- 14:42matter of the grandson of the Prophet.
- 14:43Move on from that now, Habibi. There's esoteric wisdom.
- 14:46There is knowledge that he has and he gives from the Quranic
- 14:49level. There is elements that concern.
- 14:51There are elements of concern has advice for the 21st century.
- 14:54These exist, the revolutionary descendants of Imam and Mujtaba,
- 14:58his political acumen, his unmatched generosity, his life
- 15:02before his shahada. What was he doing in Medina?
- 15:05His knowledge on the dimensions of the spiritual levels, his
- 15:09advice. There's a beautiful moment where
- 15:11Imam asks Imam and Hassan what are certain terms, and I want
- 15:16you to give me the meaning of them as he's a young boy.
- 15:19Yeah. And there's a whole host of
- 15:22moments his debates with Yazidi has.
- 15:24Who would have not thought Debates, debates with Moralia,
- 15:27All of that has not been appreciated and I think it's our
- 15:30fault and the result of the serial mass propaganda tanks
- 15:36which still linger till today. You know what say that I think
- 15:39we've spoken about this before, but this propaganda machine is
- 15:42something that continues. Of course, one of our goals is
- 15:44to try and counter that through the form of media inshallah.
- 15:47And we will counter those those deceitful, manipulative,
- 15:51narcissistic, so-called leaders who lived at the time, so-called
- 15:55sahaba who lived at the time and who put that forward.
- 15:58One of those is the likes of Mahalia, you know, the one who
- 16:01who rejected the bait and of course to Hassan Alayhis Salaam.
- 16:06And we know that in those, those those four years, those four to
- 16:11five years of a middlemot minions Khalafa, those years, he
- 16:14had to wait so ardently and patiently for that.
- 16:17He had to wait with with, as he says in Nasha Balaga.
- 16:20It's like I had a thorn in my eye or a bone in my throat in
- 16:24those years where he had to wait.
- 16:25And when he finally attained and obtained the the the Khalafa
- 16:30that he deserved and was rightfully his, he was of course
- 16:33politically challenged, militarily challenged.
- 16:35You had Jamal, you had Safin, you had not a one.
- 16:37And many of his best hub were martyred in those in those
- 16:42years, right. And of course, the build up to
- 16:45his shahada, things were picking up all the scoffs.
- 16:49You know, there were agents of Mahawya that were sent to Yemen,
- 16:52to Egypt, to parts of Alarq as well.
- 16:55There were the, the houses of the Shia were burned.
- 16:58You know, there was Amaral, Amaral Khazari, for example.
- 17:02He was the first man in Islamic history to be decapitated.
- 17:05His head was sent on a plate to Mahawya as an example.
- 17:08So this is the first act of modern day, what we recognise to
- 17:11be terrorism in Islamic history. And then of course you had the
- 17:15appointment of Imam Hassan, Amir al Mahmaneen said this is your
- 17:20imam, your Khalifa, after me. And then of course he came into
- 17:24this with just chaos around him, people defecting, people getting
- 17:29bribed. You had obeyed a lot of Abbas
- 17:32who was his relative and his commander who was bribed by
- 17:36Mahaliya to defect 2/3 of his army, I believe or so.
- 17:39Exactly. Well, we defected to Mahaliya.
- 17:42So you had Imam Hassan at Leh Salaam, you know, and I, what
- 17:46you said said really hit me about the Imam Aliy Salaam and
- 17:50his how he's been so unjustly done and treated and the it's
- 17:56it's just so sad. Well, I think, you know, when we
- 17:58talk about Khalib, you think about certain figures in history
- 18:02and Mahmoud, I listen, even for example, has a Muslim.
- 18:06You think about Khalib on that night.
- 18:08My mom has who was Kharib. Well, lot of him is Kharib
- 18:11because he went through a lot and he was, I think he was
- 18:13abandoned by his own people in many ways.
- 18:15Oh. For sure, for sure.
- 18:16He didn't even catch a break during his martyrdom as well.
- 18:19Yeah, of course. Had a will.
- 18:20The will went one way. He was being carried.
- 18:23The carrying took another turn. Yeah.
- 18:25And his life is absolutely when his life, after his life in his
- 18:29life, when he's being trying, they're trying to take him to be
- 18:32buried. It's a whole host of
- 18:34pandemonium. And you went over the summary
- 18:37pretty well with the circumstances and the betrayal
- 18:41and things of that nature. It starts off with him thinking
- 18:44about the sate he inherits his father's enemies.
- 18:48And so on one side you have Khawaj, these people who have
- 18:51deviated from what they called followers of Imam Alib Nabitab
- 18:55at first following Mahali Binabi Sufian, who's still rising, he's
- 18:59still on fire, he's still ready to go to war.
- 19:02And the biggest misconception that starts with Imam Hassan
- 19:04isn't any of the, you know, he's not, for example, interested in
- 19:09fighting. He's not, for example, going to
- 19:12take on Mahali in a proper way. So he does a he was willing to
- 19:16continue the fight. He carried it on because he
- 19:20basically sees that listen, when after his father passes away and
- 19:23he's a machete, he gives a sermon.
- 19:26In the sermon, he stands up after the buried amount of
- 19:29moment and he says in a very beautiful line, yeah, Ayouhanas,
- 19:33all men and women kind. So he's addressing the world as
- 19:37opposed to the Aladina Ahmed. But these are his words because
- 19:40he's the amount for all people. Today a man has left you
- 19:45referring to his father. He's eulogizing him, who Gibreel
- 19:49would be to his right, Mika eel to his left, whenever he would
- 19:52go out to fight. And now we have inherited this
- 19:57moment. I will take you.
- 19:59We still have unfinished business.
- 20:00Let's go and finish what my father died doing.
- 20:05And that was the moment was really interesting.
- 20:08Imam Ali Nibhat Aliab was martyred in the holy month of
- 20:11Ramadan. Why?
- 20:13He was waiting for additional support to come and come
- 20:20together against a common enemy, Imam Ali.
- 20:23History. History has shown us after the
- 20:26battles of Jamel and Sufin and Naharwan reached a point where
- 20:31he had a few unloyal supporters. They've had enough wars.
- 20:35Their complaints were akin to that.
- 20:37Our swords have bent. Yeah, it's difficult now.
- 20:41So Imam would go to the streets and he would say I'm begging
- 20:45you, come together, come on one word.
- 20:48I need your support such that it got to a point where you hear
- 20:50hadiths like the Imam saying just give me one follower of
- 20:55Mahalia. I'll give, I'll give 5 of mine.
- 20:58Why does he say that? It's because I begged them to
- 21:00come and they don't follow. They don't they don't obey.
- 21:03But Mahalia, he's telling them with nonchalant orders, go and
- 21:08fight the Imam of their time and they're like done.
- 21:10Easy peasy, easy. You know, it's like their
- 21:13loyalty to the deviant of Allah. Of course I'm begging you guys,
- 21:16let's go. I would trade 5 of mine for just
- 21:19one of his. Say it, was this just a bribery
- 21:21coming from Malia? Definitely there's a badunya
- 21:24involved. There's no such thing as a
- 21:25conviction to the evil of of on earth.
- 21:28You don't you don't find conviction in that.
- 21:30You don't sleep well, you know, for think of modern day evils
- 21:33and tyrants. You don't go to sleep knowing
- 21:35that yeah, I'm on the path that is reflective of ethics.
- 21:38It's a matter of listen, I I will be loyal to you if you
- 21:41treat me well. And this is not the same idea
- 21:42was not treating them well. But sometimes the hawk might be
- 21:45a bit bitter at first. Path of truth is path of truth
- 21:48is difficult. It's not easy, you know, the the
- 21:52road is paved with thorns. But hey, it's worth it.
- 21:55You know, I mean, not what do you think everything's going to
- 21:57be handed on a civil plot or easy enjoy it And you have to
- 21:59struggle for these things. What happens is Imam IA lot of
- 22:03gets these wars and then he's waiting for additional support.
- 22:06According to historians such as Sohail Zakhar and Shah Hassan Al
- 22:12Farhan Maliki, these are modern historians.
- 22:15They've mentioned clearly that Imam Adi had about 65,000
- 22:18warriors. Yeah, Moawi had 400,000.
- 22:22In Shawn, in Shawn Imam. You know what we need in
- 22:25dispatches? A letter.
- 22:26These letters, you can find them in the sermon section of
- 22:27Najibullah. So this is in the NAJ of the
- 22:29sermon for you because, you know, the NAJ has wisdom,
- 22:31miscellaneous letters and things of that nature.
- 22:34Aquad as well. Letters.
- 22:37He sends a letter to a man by the name of Bass Ibn Assad Ibn
- 22:40Abada who is his wakil in Azerbaijan and place is the son
- 22:45of Saib Nabi Abada, the high chief of Medina and so he's
- 22:49loyal to the federal base by default.
- 22:51Place Imam Ali admires him, hence he sends him to represent
- 22:53him in Azerbaijan. He says the out place I have
- 22:5765,000, you have 80,000 come bring your men, join forces so
- 23:02we can finish this Bahut and Ferran against a law on earth
- 23:07right now, meaning Mahalia. So he's waiting for him.
- 23:10As soon as I get enough support, then I'm going to proceed.
- 23:14Halfway through the journey of these 80,000 men Imam is waiting
- 23:17for. Some people like to say, well,
- 23:18it's Ramaban. He doesn't want to fight.
- 23:20Imam has a tech leaf. He's waiting to do his
- 23:23obligation, and that's to get rid of this tyrant on earth.
- 23:27And he's waiting halfway through Imam IO struck.
- 23:30And so the support didn't get there in time.
- 23:32Yeah. And so when he struck, he passes
- 23:35before he does. He makes this quite clear that
- 23:37my you said it clearly. Successor is El Hassan Ali Sena.
- 23:41Now, how he stands up, makes that speech, all people, man and
- 23:43woman, kind. We lost a man.
- 23:45Gibreed to his right, Mikayed to his left.
- 23:48Let's finish what he died doing. Yeah, the supporters eventually
- 23:53come. And so here you go.
- 23:55There's a movement of Imam Mujtaba.
- 23:57He heads to morale to finish the job.
- 24:00People skip this, they go Imam. He dies.
- 24:02He makes a what? I mean, he went.
- 24:07He's just what? Why would he stop?
- 24:09I just pick up the the game where my dad stopped that I'll
- 24:12just continue. He goes.
- 24:14But you know, when you lose a great leader, it can hurt your
- 24:18morality, especially if that leader struggled to already
- 24:21Garrison you anyways because of the difficulty of staying on the
- 24:26huck. Because as the Prophet said,
- 24:32there's going to be a time upon my nation, the one who holds on
- 24:35to their face like holding on to a hot ember.
- 24:38It's not easy. It hurts.
- 24:39That happened during that time too.
- 24:41It's hard to hold on to your face.
- 24:42It hurts, man. It's not easy.
- 24:44If you want the lavishness, luxuriousness of this life.
- 24:47Food is good with Mahalia, but Ebada is unlike anything else
- 24:53with Imam. So Imam Hassan goes.
- 24:57The problem is the betrayal kicks in.
- 24:59Yeah. And Mahalia, I believe he was
- 25:01genuinely scared because it was only a matter of weeks and Imam
- 25:05is going to come again and finish the deal.
- 25:08He takes advantage of this morality defect.
- 25:11They lose their leader. Now it's not like my passing cat
- 25:13fulfill the job he can. But while we start sending money
- 25:18at the head of the group of people is obeyed Allah, Abdullah
- 25:21Abbas, his cousin and he sends them a letter saying Maui.
- 25:25Maui says him obeyed Allah 1,000,000 dinar is waiting for
- 25:30you just separate from him. Not only did he take his group
- 25:34that he led because Imam hasn't divided the people that he had.
- 25:38He kept many in Kufa. He sent some to Medina to stay
- 25:42close to Medina and then he took a group of him with him and
- 25:47ahead of him and behind him. So he's a big army in the head
- 25:52obeyed Allah. They've been an Abbas.
- 25:54He gets told with a letter that he's miles ahead because there's
- 25:57a lot of men that hey, 1,000,000 Dinos like you don't know what
- 26:00you want. The lottery just don't continue
- 26:03with him. These people are already
- 26:04complained. As we say, we got them to come
- 26:07on. They're just anything.
- 26:09They just need an excuse to leave.
- 26:11The same people that said my swords are bent on the last
- 26:14days. You come to somebody says we're
- 26:17the people that are genuinely loyal.
- 26:18Come on. Not only does he separate, he
- 26:23takes his people all the way to Malia's and we'll just stay in
- 26:26Sham instead. Yeah.
- 26:28Backstabbed the people behind Imam Hassan, the army that's
- 26:32behind him. Mawi has sends a letter to them
- 26:35saying that I and it hasn't he forged a signature have decided
- 26:39to agree not to fight. We're brothers in them and won't
- 26:43be known for lies and forgery. Look at the effort that it took,
- 26:49by the way, you know, you forge you, you plagiarize, you do all
- 26:53these things and then use Quran and religious everything and
- 26:57money. How do you not become misguided?
- 27:00Some people might be genuinely, but The thing is, a true,
- 27:03genuine follower should know that That's not my imam.
- 27:05Of course, that's a signature. Yeah, you could make a
- 27:07signature, nice. But the principal is not
- 27:10something that he would do. His dad died, was martyred in
- 27:14this process, but he's just going to give up on it.
- 27:16They split the middle group again.
- 27:21They receive some tension. Imam Hassan is down.
- 27:23He's left with 3000 people. That's it.
- 27:26He's left some and I was saying kufa he sent some others.
- 27:29After all of these combination of the men that came from all
- 27:32parts of the world. He's down to just 3000.
- 27:34Even then he continues Yep, to 3000 against 400,000 gone.
- 27:39Is this misconception immediately that he wasn't a
- 27:41brave man. The proportions of the day of
- 27:44Karabella were not even like this.
- 27:45Yeah, I'm has I'm Christine has might you could say tops 100 and
- 27:4810120 7572 up to that much, I guess 30,000 that's a lot, the
- 27:53ratio, but the proportions are more extreme.
- 27:56When you look at 3000 against half a million 100,000 men, he's
- 28:01like, no, we're not. Did you guys forget?
- 28:04What's it called? The battle of Hanain.
- 28:06The profit was down to 8. One of them a lady, you know,
- 28:10lady who's worth a million men who says I'm not leaving my my
- 28:14profit. And we stood in 4000.
- 28:16Laurence's Thuma. Well, Layton with the building
- 28:17you guys just left and ran, Boy, how they ran and they just
- 28:21abandoned. Yeah, it's like 8 and they
- 28:24fought 4000. But when vulgar is there, you
- 28:27don't have to worry. Then what about the inherit of
- 28:29vulgar 3000 against 400? That's nothing.
- 28:33The problem is when among those are unloyal, charlatan,
- 28:40conniving, backstabbing hypocrites such that he is on
- 28:47his horse. One man rushes and stabs the
- 28:50imam on his thigh. He's like enough, it's done,
- 28:54this is mad. And he stabs the imam on his
- 28:56thigh. He sees everyone's abandoned of
- 28:59it. If the world goes one way and
- 29:01you know you're on the Hawks day, let the world go left.
- 29:05Stay right man. The whole world.
- 29:08I mean, it's a cliche, but everyone drops off a Cliff.
- 29:11Don't do it. Who cares if your buddies have
- 29:12left, if they've been bribed? Stabbed on his thigh.
- 29:17Then he's leaving Salah as he's praying.
- 29:20He's stabbed in his back. So he's literally and
- 29:22figuratively and metaphorically backstabbed.
- 29:26Literally, figuratively, metaphorically.
- 29:28Look how loom this imam is. And then, people, I made a peace
- 29:31agreement because he didn't want to fight.
- 29:33He's hurt, he's wounded, he's being backstabbed.
- 29:38His cousin left him. Here comes this man. 21st
- 29:41century. Oh, yeah, Yeah.
- 29:43He wasn't brave enough Danny, I I have to be befitting with my
- 29:46language here because the tensions get hot sometimes.
- 29:49Not brave enough. You try 30,000 against 400, it
- 29:53still gets that still for. Big One of the biggest Moloom
- 29:56honestly. Moloom.
- 29:57One of the worst, worst misconceptions.
- 29:59That and he's still adamant to go and continue.
- 30:02It gets to a point when you don't have anyone.
- 30:04What do you do at that point? He then receives a letter from
- 30:07Mohawi. Sending these letters left and
- 30:09right, he says, listen, don't make the same mistake as your
- 30:13dad. Don't make the same mistake as
- 30:16your father. You have no one and I have
- 30:19everything. I am even willing to compromise
- 30:22with you. Now, this is a different subject
- 30:25because we're now discussing the ethics of compromising with the
- 30:28enemy of God. Is there room for that?
- 30:31The discussion goes on. Imam Hassan makes the terms.
- 30:37That's where I think there is room to negotiate and not
- 30:44necessarily compromise. You never compromise on your
- 30:47values. He never relinquished Khalafa.
- 30:50He's Khalifa day one. He relinquished political
- 30:55control, whereas Imam, he can't give that up.
- 30:58Of course, he never relinquished Imam.
- 31:00Listen to this. He relinquished the Imara.
- 31:05So hey. Imam him, Imara, the Emirates of
- 31:10Power control to have a hub and tribal control.
- 31:13No, no, you can do that. That's why Mahali was called a
- 31:16Walukal Islam. King.
- 31:19The first king of Islam. What the heck is a king?
- 31:22What's a king in Islam? Like lavish, wearing a crown.
- 31:26What's a king? Oh, they're proud of it. 3/4 of
- 31:29the Muslim world with all love. Yeah, he's a Walukal Islam.
- 31:34But what's a king? Now what?
- 31:36What is that in Islam? What?
- 31:38Significant theological position does not occupy What is a king?
- 31:43I don't understand that. I know an Imam, I know the
- 31:45Khalifa is. I know what, for example, king.
- 31:50What is that? Kings are a lavish royalty
- 31:53dynasty kings involve that. If I die by default of just what
- 31:58is that? That's what.
- 31:59I. Exactly love a lavish of this
- 32:02world, Imam says. You keep that said that never
- 32:06was even something I was interested in and I'll keep Imam
- 32:09and so there's a lot to be said on.
- 32:11Well, you've said so much and there's so much to take in and
- 32:13honestly, there's so much points that I feel like have been
- 32:15answered personally of some, not going to say doubts, but things
- 32:18that I don't have clarity on. And just coming on these points
- 32:21of like Malawi's propaganda and stuff, you know, when it, when
- 32:26it came to this priest, this peace treaty, the solar that
- 32:29Imam hasn't done with Malawi. Yeah.
- 32:31It wasn't, for example, OK. He didn't just have enough
- 32:34support. No, from what I understand and
- 32:36correct me if I'm wrong, saying that the Shia, the followers of
- 32:40a meal and no money, were threats because Mahalia was
- 32:43trying to kill them. Well, I was trying to the other
- 32:47day I was actually with a with a brother.
- 32:49We were going some going over some of the letters Mahalia was
- 32:52sending to his governors and how to deal with the Shia.
- 32:54Yeah, of Ali Abdullah, which is horrifying.
- 32:57You know, destroy their homes, village their towns, kick them
- 33:01out. Boycott.
- 33:03Don't buy from them, don't sell to them.
- 33:05Let them starve. Yeah, so it came to a point
- 33:07where Manhassen said I have to stop this bloodshed, this
- 33:10potential annihilation of the true son of Rasoolallah,
- 33:13Sallallahu alaihi Walisallah, could come to an end.
- 33:15So I think, I'm not gonna say he was forced into this position,
- 33:18but at that time, this is pretty much what was destined for him
- 33:22by a lot. You know what, just to add as
- 33:24well, I think it's interesting because we always talk about and
- 33:28I think we've reflected on on this a lot in the last year and
- 33:30a half, especially since the wild has has gone upside down in
- 33:33many ways. But we always talk about what is
- 33:36the appropriate response, what is the best way to retaliate or
- 33:39to resist or to show resilience. And I think in many ways we've
- 33:42learned from the IEM Alehim or Salaam that there are different
- 33:46strategies to employ at different times.
- 33:47But one of the naiveties we face as a community is not knowing
- 33:50what to employ at which time. But the circumstances that Imam
- 33:53Hassan Ali Salaam was in was such that he was doing the thing
- 33:57which he deemed to be. And he knew Allah's will was
- 34:00that this is the right thing to do at this moment in time to
- 34:02prevent the bloodshed of the ummah and to stop the killing.
- 34:05And this is of course, one of the one of the terms of the of
- 34:08the treaty itself. He talked about the the dignity
- 34:12of the people, you know, not pillaging their properties like
- 34:14you mentioned as part of the terms of the treaty, about not
- 34:17making it a system of hereditary succession.
- 34:20Like you said, said, this is of course violated as well, not
- 34:23cursing a Middlemark money. And I live in a bipalib and that
- 34:26was of course violated as well. And it just goes on and on and
- 34:29on. But one thing I've learned, I
- 34:31think. And ruling by the justice of
- 34:32Allah. Yeah, absolutely.
- 34:34Yeah, yeah. One thing I've learned, at least
- 34:36on a personal level, I know said we spoke about this last week in
- 34:40a group, but they're the different imams and say perhaps
- 34:44you can correct me if I'm wrong, the different imams, Alayima
- 34:47Salaam showed resilience in the right way at the right time.
- 34:51Yeah, this is called wisdom. Wisdom hikmah and they did it in
- 34:54such a way where they would act according to circumstance.
- 34:58They would act with knowledge Ali mushribe.
- 35:00They would not act with knowledge of context and history
- 35:03and with the surroundings and what lies within people's hearts
- 35:06that surround them. And they would act accordingly.
- 35:08And and we, and I say we inclusive of those who are
- 35:11amongst the Imams at the time, were veiled, concealed, clouded
- 35:15from this knowledge and this truth that they couldn't see the
- 35:19jicama, they couldn't see the wisdom and the intentions of the
- 35:21Imam. And until today, 1400 years
- 35:24later after the soil, we still as a community of Shia and non
- 35:29Shia still may not truly understand why the Imam did what
- 35:32he did when you had other Imams who did other things at
- 35:34different times. I don't think we need to
- 35:35understand everything by them. They are the Hajj of Allah.
- 35:38That's exactly right. That's exactly, exactly right.
- 35:40You could trust in that. I have no clue what the doctor's
- 35:43doing, but I trust. I said I have no clue what that
- 35:45is. I can't even read your
- 35:47handwriting. I can't even understand the name
- 35:49of that. For example, antidote or that
- 35:51regimen of drug. I can't.
- 35:52I can't, but I trust you. Why?
- 35:54Because I know you are intelligent.
- 35:56You have a position that I don't deserve.
- 35:58I can't. So these things you apply them
- 36:00on that level personal, you have to understand that also applies
- 36:03on a spiritual leadership role as well.
- 36:05They are there for a reason, The proof of God.
- 36:09Why? Because the proof has been shown
- 36:11that I Now The thing is, this is a very interesting moment in in
- 36:21time because you got this Imam Ali Salaam who has now said I
- 36:26beautifully mentioned Satan. Keep in mind holistically
- 36:29everything that goes on. If I'm interested in power, on
- 36:32rule and domination, then there are other things I can do, but I
- 36:36have to keep in mind the interest of the followers of our
- 36:39way. One of the things that keeps
- 36:42this in mind is I demonstrating his political sharp acumen.
- 36:47I will make the terms. If you study political science,
- 36:49you know that in any type of agreement or compromise, he who
- 36:52writes the terms has already won.
- 36:55If the terms bargaining chip. Is exactly if the terms are in
- 36:58by you, even if it was proposed by the opposition.
- 37:01Happy you've won, you set the rules.
- 37:03If they've also agreed to follow through with them, you set what
- 37:05you want in these terms. That's number one showcases Imam
- 37:08Hassan is in control, not Mahalia.
- 37:11He might be saying, hey, let's make a a compromise Sol aslah
- 37:16from the terms to slee repair. Something is broken out there
- 37:19and the Imam has to come and fix it.
- 37:22In this situation, Imam says, by the way, the Sol of Imam Hassan
- 37:26is actually an ambiguous thing in the world of narrations.
- 37:29Having studied at myself, you won't find I've done to the best
- 37:33of I can deduction. You won't find a narration that
- 37:35talks about all the points. But scholarly efforts have
- 37:38showcased that when you combine all the narrations, each one
- 37:42with its different point, you get in total the full agreement
- 37:46which has 16 points. This imam says OK, well you want
- 37:52to compromise, I will. I will draw 16 points.
- 37:55The first is stop changing the Sunnah of Rasulullah so you can
- 38:00see where his priority is. The Sunnah of Rasulullah Friday
- 38:04Jamal was on a different day. You had, for example, many
- 38:08practices were added, innovations were included.
- 38:12You're changing the Dean at the end of the it's all about the
- 38:14Dean. That's why I'm even rising.
- 38:16I just want the faith to be in good hands, which is why Imam
- 38:19Hussein also rose. It's not for him.
- 38:21He had Mullica Ray offered. He had the opportunity to go to
- 38:25India, to go to Rome, to go to Yemen.
- 38:28He gave he got these options. So it's like I'm not interested
- 38:31in that. I want in Kanadino, Muhammad and
- 38:35Lemiyasta. It's a famous poem by the way,
- 38:39the the Dean of prophet is not going to stand up if it's not
- 38:43from my death all then swords come and take me.
- 38:46That's what I care. And that's why the prophet says
- 38:48Hussein mini well and I'm in Hussein.
- 38:51Why? Because Hussein is obviously
- 38:53from the prophet. But how is the prophet from him?
- 38:55It's because if it wasn't for Hussein we no one would know the
- 38:58prophet anymore. So Hussein revived him.
- 39:01There's a Thora Hosseinia that calls for it's time and place.
- 39:05There's a Thora Hassania as well.
- 39:07That means if you can be impactful and influential by
- 39:10making a war with the pen as opposed to the sword, then you
- 39:14have to do that. If Ahmed Hussein was in that
- 39:16position, he would have done the same thing.
- 39:18Likewise with Muhammad Hassan was in Karbala on the 10th of
- 39:20Muharram. Same exact thing.
- 39:22Especially because he's writing the terms.
- 39:25The terms demonstrate that he's in control.
- 39:27What's a modern example of this? I'll show you Grand Ayatollah
- 39:32assayed Alia Sistani Hafi Rahulah.
- 39:37We honor and adore all of our scholars who have sacrificed.
- 39:42He's made many decisions publicly that for some who may
- 39:49not rest their trust in the scholarly world, but question
- 39:52marks why say, don't call the Sunni our brother, rather call
- 39:58them ourselves? Why how dare we could be
- 40:02compared to the cell. What is a Sunni Slow down.
- 40:05This is a Muslim whether you like it or not, they're Muslims
- 40:092 Do you realize when they say he says that it's O 4 Habibi,
- 40:13you got this. Are we coming out of nowhere?
- 40:15You got this preliminary motion of ISIS emerging.
- 40:19You got this random imbecile from a different country who
- 40:23wants to take over and you have thought if he and sectarian wars
- 40:27Imam and Hadi shrine was blown up and every Shiite is raging
- 40:31with fire and this generalization is kicking in.
- 40:34It takes discuss that before you decide to lash out on the non
- 40:37Shia. Remember that's yourself.
- 40:39The time called for that type of approach to showcase that this
- 40:43is Heckama. People will question why is why
- 40:46what I thought then when it calls for retaliation with the
- 40:50sword. Now we're going to be
- 40:52confrontational. 2014 kicks in. These guys are on our next door
- 40:56neighbor. That's what we have to raise
- 40:57arms against. Dodge these same lot, but
- 41:00there's a time where you raise arms using US pen, there's a
- 41:03time where you use the sword. He demonstrated that these
- 41:05things can happen because of the time and place calls for it, of
- 41:07course. She worked as we say.
- 41:09Exactly. Exactly.
- 41:10Everything in its own time. That's called wisdom.
- 41:13Yeah, well, the O'Shea female. The putting of the things that
- 41:19need to be put where they need to be, That's called justice.
- 41:23I dial. That's justice in this time
- 41:27place. This deserves to happen.
- 41:29Why? Because this is the only thing
- 41:30that can happen right now. In this case, Shia were
- 41:32preserved, the Sunnah was preserved.
- 41:35Stop the Lana on my father. He also showcased that you lift
- 41:39the embargo on the followers. If you die, I am alive.
- 41:44I become the Khalifa publicly, as in politically, if I that
- 41:48you're still alive, Hussein, Ali, Saddam, my brother is then
- 41:52going to assume that role just making all 16 terms.
- 41:55Another one was there's a a treasury in a place called
- 41:58Darius de Jordan in Iran that had over over a million dinar.
- 42:02He says that belongs to me, the treasury, not you.
- 42:05So he's taking care of the Shia financially as well.
- 42:08Yeah, my was just like, I agree. I agree.
- 42:10I don't want to fight you anymore.
- 42:12So he's thinking long term for the Shia's interest, for the for
- 42:17the interest of the Dina of the Salam, for all of these things.
- 42:20And then people came up to him and they said, Salaam alaykayyam
- 42:23with all the one who's humiliated the Mohs.
- 42:27Why? Why would you do that?
- 42:30Mamad hasn't. These are upright companions
- 42:31that approached him. Mamad Hassanati Saddam says,
- 42:34well, Halaika Salaam, you know. Yeah, well, Halaika Salaam, I'm
- 42:39not going to be like you. The beauty about agreement as
- 42:42such is when you know that the other side won't follow it, you
- 42:45then expose him. Expose him.
- 42:47You can't really fight a person who showcases Dean outwardly
- 42:52because others only see the Dean.
- 42:54And why are you finding someone who's a religious person?
- 42:56Of course. Big beard.
- 42:57He had a big beard. He had a big turban.
- 43:00He built messages he would do to spear.
- 43:05I wrote the Quran. You want to fight that guy?
- 43:08Some people will be under the wrong impression.
- 43:11With his son is different. His son Shaitan took notes under
- 43:14him. Yazid, I'm not even going to
- 43:17care publicly. I will drink in front of you.
- 43:19I will play with these wild animals to showcase my lack of
- 43:22interest in anything that involves responsibility.
- 43:25Womanized, cheat, gamble. I don't care that guy you fight
- 43:30if they're fighting you, obviously, because no one will
- 43:33say why are you fighting a religious person?
- 43:35A hypocrite needs to be exposed. The best way to expose them,
- 43:38Sadatna, the best way is to say, OK, there are things we're going
- 43:41to have to follow that day. You break them.
- 43:43You were exposed. Well, yeah, that's that's very
- 43:46true. Like with Yazid and ABBA
- 43:47Abdullah Hussein Salaam, I think Hakamat, it was clear, obvious.
- 43:51It was apparent. Oh yeah, it's a bit.
- 43:52Yeah, because Maui, he used to like deceive people and.
- 43:55That's the Hardy I'm saying. Babes to this day, yeah.
- 43:59We still hear. It the fitness that's that
- 44:01continues until now. That's that's so true.
- 44:04Say, can I ask a question for sure?
- 44:06You know, in the time of Imam Hassan Ali in Salaam, even just
- 44:10before the time of Imam Hassan Ali, Salam, from what I've
- 44:15heard, worked very hard to eradicate many a hadith
- 44:19attributed to the elevator on himself going as far as even for
- 44:23example, changing a hadith of that are and all of the
- 44:27elevator, For example, the previous Holafat.
- 44:30Well, from what are we are to rule Surya to rule Sham.
- 44:35How did he get that position? Many asked this question.
- 44:38I asked this question. I know you put in there.
- 44:41Yeah, I, I, but no one knows. Like someone has paved this?
- 44:45Or is this an indirect consequence of the earlier?
- 44:49It's exactly that you have to be honest with history.
- 44:52I mean you can't make fun of and lie about.
- 44:54The reality of the matter is these were the Mawi's existence
- 45:00and his power and his authority is the result of the efforts
- 45:04paved through Ahmad Ibn al Khabab by dispatching him or
- 45:11having those who were preceding Wahia his, his own relative, his
- 45:16his, his uncle who then succeeded him.
- 45:21Wahia then stays in Sham and while he's there, unfortunately,
- 45:26he decides to consider himself independent from the rest of the
- 45:28Khilafah. And if you're already
- 45:30independent of the Khilafah, why do you care about what happens
- 45:33to Rahman, Nahfan and Medina then?
- 45:35I thought you were independent. You're on, you're a king or
- 45:37whatever. So now no one can deny the fact
- 45:40that the wise decision making by the earlier caliph contributed
- 45:47eventually, Mahalia contributes eventually to Yazid, eventually
- 45:50paves the way for the biggest tragedy of Islamic history and
- 45:54world history, absolutely, which leads the way to the other
- 45:57empires to rise. And I mean, we can talk about
- 46:01how much and how much influence that was, but the fact of the
- 46:04matter is Islam, it's still strong no matter who sits on
- 46:09what chair. If you're sitting on the chair
- 46:11of Khalafa, not Khalafa, people become deceived quickly to think
- 46:14that why? And I think this is a lesson for
- 46:17us. Why is the wrong guy in charge?
- 46:21I thought God like likes us. I thought we're good.
- 46:25Yeah. And we're going to see this in
- 46:26life. And I think today we might even
- 46:27be seeing this in the same area. Right.
- 46:29And you're thinking to yourself, I thought we're on the right
- 46:31path. It's had.
- 46:32We've seen this movie before, though.
- 46:34We've seen them. And I think we know the endings
- 46:35of some of these movies as well. And that's why these things
- 46:38happen. Because if you look back, things
- 46:41were paved, agreements were violated.
- 46:43How does a country emerge and take over a land that clearly
- 46:46had they have no claim to because there are agreements
- 46:48that were violated. No agreements are violated #1 It
- 46:52showcases your, your conniving, deceptive 2 faced nature.
- 46:57At the same time, it gives a Hodge, hey, we made a deal and
- 47:01you violated it and not us. So we were willing to stay firm
- 47:04on this pact, on this deal, on the agreement.
- 47:06There are times and there's a place for uprisings that involve
- 47:11the weapons, and I think in today's world, time and place is
- 47:15extremely necessary and important.
- 47:17The only difference is it takes a leader who has that hecma to
- 47:21be able to make such decisions. And I think we need to rally
- 47:24behind our elite who have showcased that they have robust
- 47:30forbearance. And then we need to unite our
- 47:33word as Shia. Listen, bro, we're all team
- 47:35Shia. Of course, guys, we're team
- 47:37Shia. We can't handle this.
- 47:38We can't, for the love of God, stop with the differences that
- 47:43lead to dividing. You can have your differences.
- 47:46And I think I value the fact that you have your own
- 47:48worldview. I have my own mind.
- 47:50I even in levels of like deep personal values and beliefs and
- 47:55theology, I might have this opinion.
- 47:57You might stand on this stage in regards to this belief,
- 48:01regarding this ritual, this hokum.
- 48:06If you're still Team Shia, that means if there's an issue in our
- 48:09defence, you have to call it out.
- 48:12Not because I want to come after you, it's because if my defence
- 48:14is weak, we're all done. Yeah, absolutely.
- 48:17And I point these things out. It's not criticism.
- 48:19If you're going to criticize, you have to criticize for the
- 48:21purposes of constructive, not deconstructive.
- 48:25I mean, there's a hole in our ship.
- 48:28I'm going to come and I make it bigger.
- 48:29I'm going to sink too. I'm in the same boat, man.
- 48:32We're all in the same boat. That's your brother and that's
- 48:34your sister. Yes.
- 48:35And they have a different opinion.
- 48:37They do. Met them this way, They speak
- 48:39like this and they're in their Majidas.
- 48:41They subscribe to this worldview that is absolutely
- 48:45counterintuitive to yours. Are they followers of the lane?
- 48:48Yes. You have to own them.
- 48:50Final I said you know I really love you mentioned this point
- 48:53because just last week we had an episode of brother Mullah Siddiq
- 48:56yeah, we were talking about you know brothers in wilaya and he.
- 48:59Loved that episode. He said something very, very
- 49:02similar and he was like, you know what, you may disagree with
- 49:04something. Mind stinker like.
- 49:07I said he said you may disagree with something with your
- 49:10brother, you may have differences with your brother,
- 49:11whatever it may be. Does he have love for Imam Ali
- 49:15Ali assalam? Does he have that wilayah
- 49:17planted in the heart? Khalas don't go to war with him.
- 49:21Respect each other's differences.
- 49:23Understand where it's coming from.
- 49:25Why make a fuss? Why, you know, like turn your
- 49:28swords towards. You know, it's crazy, bro.
- 49:30You're talking about forgiveness for those who have with love of
- 49:33the Imam in their heart. But the the the Shia of the Imam
- 49:37himself did not forgive him. Do you know what I mean?
- 49:40So how could you do this? Would you would you say?
- 49:43Yeah. The little what many the.
- 49:44One the believers. And and you know, Subhan Allahu
- 49:47in the hadith says that the Imam and Saddam would say that I have
- 49:52granted you honour, I've saved your lives.
- 49:55If anything he says that what I have done has been more
- 49:59beneficial for you than the sun rising and setting.
- 50:01Yeah, yeah. Subhan Allah like the the the
- 50:04the grand strategic planning and and wisdom of the Imam protected
- 50:09added a a shade of of safety, security and comfort for the for
- 50:14the Shia that they didn't know. Do you want to see the the fruit
- 50:16of this agreement? This was done in the year 41.
- 50:20Yeah, after the hijrim Ali Ali Ali Salaam was murdered 4040.
- 50:24Imam Hassan was murdered 5041. For the next nine years, not a
- 50:29single Shia was killed. Hegeben Idea Kendi dies year 51.
- 50:34Yeah. Alan bin Hamakul Hussai dies
- 50:36year 51. There is not a single Shia
- 50:39public Shia major profile Shia that was killed in those nine
- 50:43years. He saved their lives.
- 50:44Yeah, some of them will come and they make fun of him.
- 50:47But you didn't know in nine years you were able to breathe.
- 50:50Why? Can I just ask why?
- 50:51Because in those years of Mahalia why was that but in the
- 50:55years of Imam has since life that they were violated.
- 50:57He was beholden to the contract that Iman made with Mahalia,
- 51:03that you leave the Shia alone, You don't hurt them, you allow
- 51:06them to work, you'll shop and don't close and you allow them
- 51:10to buy and you can marry from them.
- 51:12These were conditions in the. Can I clarify this thing?
- 51:14Yeah, 5 missiles just from the year 41 to 5059 years.
- 51:18There were shit being killed after the treaty.
- 51:22After the treaty, right? Not during the treaties, not
- 51:24during the Imam's life. After the Imam is martyred.
- 51:27That treaty, according to Mahalia, is under his feet.
- 51:31Oh, OK, I understand. Yeah, so he may have made an
- 51:34agreement with him. So he's like, I have to live
- 51:36with this agreement public. As soon as the imam dies, the
- 51:40condition of the agreement is that Hussein Abbnadi Alison
- 51:43receives the halafa. They're like, you have to fulfil
- 51:45this end. He's like the man who wrote it
- 51:47is done and his agreement is beneath my feet now.
- 51:49And now the man who's I made the terms with, I don't have to
- 51:53follow any of these conditions. Then he started coming back and
- 51:55killing the Shia and bar goes, you know, and all all the other
- 51:59everything else that was listed. He revived them again.
- 52:02But while Elon Hassan was alive, he brought honour to the MOT
- 52:05mini and not the and not humiliation for nine years.
- 52:08Little did they know that they could marry.
- 52:10Now people can have their businesses active, people can
- 52:13shop from them. The Sunna wasn't changed.
- 52:15And all the while my passes in Medina spreading the gems of of
- 52:20Rasulullah of Quran. Yeah.
- 52:22I mean, Oh my God, the things he does, the duas he has, the, the,
- 52:26those moments where he interacts with people, he's like, not only
- 52:29am I along with Shia, to brief, I'm going to become an example,
- 52:32OK. And so this was like 9 years of
- 52:34peace. So long as our leader is alive,
- 52:36we're in good hands. They, they said Ma Orifet al
- 52:40Arab, Vil Hatamat al Hassan. The Arab did not know any real
- 52:44humiliation until he died. After he died, man, we did not
- 52:49know what we had until we lost it.
- 52:50And he's the one who studied Mohammed, Hassan, Tujhel and
- 52:53Nehem for either well, let Orifet.
- 52:57But the blessings are unknown while they're around.
- 52:59Until they go, then they are known.
- 53:02In other words, you don't know what you have until it's gone.
- 53:04Yeah. He says that very clearly.
- 53:06And you don't know that I'm a blessing among you.
- 53:09As soon as he left, why am I beholden to any of these terms?
- 53:12He's gone. Can I ask, you said so a lot of
- 53:15the time when if I was to ask Shia from around the world, and
- 53:18I mean this question, I'm thinking about those one remote
- 53:21areas of Pakistan, those who live in Africa, in different
- 53:25parts of the world. What do you know about the
- 53:27personality of Amir Ahmad Mineen?
- 53:28Talk to me about what he was like, his character, the way he
- 53:31spoke. You know, he had his strength
- 53:34and then at times he was introverted and passive.
- 53:37And then you ask them about Imam Hussein Alayhi Salaam, they'll
- 53:40be able to characterize him as well and understand his
- 53:42personality in such a way. When you think of Imam Hassan
- 53:46Salaam, Allah Alayhi, what do you think of in terms of his
- 53:50character? What, what stands out to you as
- 53:53overwhelming qualities about him which draw you to him?
- 53:58You know what, what's, what is the light of a Muhammad Hassan
- 54:01Ali Salaam, which you want the world and especially the
- 54:04listeners now to know about him and to to kind of remember on on
- 54:09the blessed with either which is forthcoming.
- 54:11I'm going to say this, and it's going to be simple, but it's so
- 54:15meaningful. I would describe him in one word
- 54:19in my study, very simple study, I would call him thoughtful.
- 54:25He really thought about everyone.
- 54:28He doesn't make a decision unless he's taking everything
- 54:30into consideration. He's called Kareem a little bit,
- 54:34right? I mean, you can say he's
- 54:35generous, but you can't be generous without being
- 54:38thoughtful. Of course, he goes back to the
- 54:40end of it. I'm going to even think about, I
- 54:44don't want you to beg in front of me, so I will hide behind the
- 54:47door. And then when you knock, I'm not
- 54:50even going to let you see me hand you my food or money that
- 54:53I'm going to give you. So you don't know that I know it
- 54:56was you to preserve your dignity.
- 54:59Of course. He even thinks of a person in
- 55:01that regard. I'm that thoughtful.
- 55:02Otherwise, if you're begging me for food and you're knocking on
- 55:04my door, the door of which never returns, someone empty handed,
- 55:09I'm going to give you. And you don't care if I see that
- 55:12it's you who's begging. You know, sometimes Youtubers
- 55:14like to do this social experiment where they go up to a
- 55:17homeless man here's feeding you, here's whatever, and they just
- 55:19embarrassed the person. You know what if they get out of
- 55:21that situation one day, Now you've archived them when they
- 55:24were in a humbled state where they feel humiliated and mom has
- 55:28like, I don't want you to leave with the font that someone knows
- 55:32you begged at one point. So when they knock on his door,
- 55:35all they see is a hand holding a bag of food.
- 55:38Here you go. No, I, I'm thinking about your
- 55:40dignity, a story that I love so much.
- 55:44You said, you know, you go to the world's throughout the
- 55:47world, Pakistan and in Harappan, in Iran and elsewhere in the
- 55:50States and Canada, and you think about these legends and you all
- 55:53can see a common denominator. Everyone will agree highly
- 55:55strong for saying sacrifice Imam.
- 55:58It hasn't say everything, but never forget that he manifested
- 56:02thoughtfulness. There's a story.
- 56:05A man comes to the House of Imam.
- 56:06Hasn't He asks him for some help and he gives him.
- 56:09This man wants to gift to the Imam something for his
- 56:13generosity. Yeah, but he's poor, So what
- 56:17does he have to give him? So he offers him something
- 56:20arbitrary. Nothing material.
- 56:23He makes some poetry. He wants to say that, look, you
- 56:27gave me so much when I was in need.
- 56:29I want to repay you. However, I don't have anything
- 56:32to give you. You're a Karima Hell, mate.
- 56:35You have it all right. I'm going to gift you poetry.
- 56:38So he has some poems, but he wants to go to his home, knock
- 56:43on the door and have the imam give him something and say in
- 56:48return, I'm going to gift you some poetry.
- 56:50So he still is going to him for assistance.
- 56:53The guy knocks on his door and just before he's able to demand
- 56:59from the imam and ask him, can you help me?
- 57:01Imam says before you continue, here's a bit of food and here's
- 57:05some wealth. He says sayidi Mata, rektani,
- 57:10Allah tetrokani, Abu ho bhaijati and shiro mithati moulai.
- 57:17Why don't you leave me just asking what I want first and
- 57:21then I give you what I am about to offer you.
- 57:24He's like you just beat me to it, let me ask 1st and then I'll
- 57:29compensate you. You already gave me something
- 57:33without having me even ask, Imam says.
- 57:36It's as if he is saying I will give you something instead.
- 57:41You want to give me poetry, I know.
- 57:44So the Imam says how will I give you poetry on top of the wealth
- 57:48and assistance I've already provided?
- 57:50Imam hasn't starts to recite him poetry.
- 57:52And you think about it, he doesn't want anything back from
- 57:54him. He's not even willing to take
- 57:55something arbitrary. Don't even give me poems.
- 57:59No, no, no. It's like the give and take.
- 58:01I don't want to have you transactional.
- 58:03It's not transactional. It's not material.
- 58:04It's not something that you can just offer and then it's you
- 58:06lose it. You still keep the poem.
- 58:09In some sense it was not even that.
- 58:11In fact, how about I give you some poem?
- 58:14And then he says the fall of them and back the failure.
- 58:29Haju, that we are a people. Gaining anything from us is so
- 58:33easy. You just come to our door and
- 58:35we'll give it to you. Hope and aspiration rests with
- 58:39us. We give to the person before
- 58:42they even make their request, to honor the dignity so that they
- 58:46don't feel humiliated. So if the sea knew the degree of
- 58:50our generosity, it would have shrunk after it was overflowed.
- 59:01He gives him poetry back. Don't even bother.
- 59:03And he gives them what he does. That's Kareem.
- 59:07That's Karam. That's generosity.
- 59:10That's the epitome of philanthropy and charity.
- 59:14Or I'm not even willing to say some poems.
- 59:16And on top of that, I'm going to give you 1.
- 59:18And on top of that, give me what you want.
- 59:19Yeah, that, that, that's that. Not thoughtfulness.
- 59:22Is there even a word for that In in, in English?
- 59:24Probably gone. The son of Ali a lot because you
- 59:28can only become like when you're when you're raised by Emira the
- 59:32price. You.
- 59:33Know it makes sense. Like.
- 59:35You know when I like. Right now I'm teaching my my,
- 59:38my, my son about the the story of Allah Kasat when when the
- 59:43three people knock on the door 3 consecutive days and Imam Hassan
- 59:46Hassan are unwell and they do the nether on the eye and the
- 59:49Holy Quran. And of course, yeah.
- 59:52And we like we see this now like these were embodied in in the in
- 59:57the Imam Hassan Hassan name Saddam from a young age, like it
- 1:00:01was there. It was the development was there
- 1:00:03like it was in front of them. They were unwell.
- 1:00:06Salaam Muhammad, Salah Salaam said do this never for three
- 1:00:10days fast. And then you see what happens.
- 1:00:13And Subhan Allah, you see that they just embodied this, this.
- 1:00:16And you know what's crazy? Subhan Allah said, it's like
- 1:00:19hitting me now when we talk about Imam Hassan, he gave,
- 1:00:22yeah, he gave material. Imam Hussein gave him material.
- 1:00:25He gave his family even material to a degree.
- 1:00:27But they gave from their souls, like Imam Hassan gave his
- 1:00:32reputation, Imam Hussein gave his reputation.
- 1:00:34They gave their, their, their. What's the word I'm looking for?
- 1:00:40Like they. Gave her the class.
- 1:00:42Yeah. But more than that as well as
- 1:00:44like they gave up a position that's the one I'm looking for.
- 1:00:47Like they gave up what could have been a Makam or like.
- 1:00:50Because they're not after it. Yeah, like a title or something
- 1:00:54where people say, wow, you know, like Imam Hussein died with, you
- 1:00:58know, he was martyred with with tattered clothing.
- 1:01:01You know, Imam Hussein was was martyred with arrows on his
- 1:01:03Janazah. Like these are, you know, they
- 1:01:06reached the peak, the peak of Iman, you know, and they in the
- 1:01:10eyes of people who had no Iman, they were seen to be lowly.
- 1:01:14It's a panel one. But in the eyes of Alaska, they
- 1:01:17are the most elevated status. And it just makes you think that
- 1:01:21in these days, these are the days of the elevated Quran, you
- 1:01:25know these the status in the eyes of God is not what we deem
- 1:01:30it to be in the eyes of man today.
- 1:01:32Do you know what I? Mean they are the fuck Elaine, I
- 1:01:34remember I I was listening to a lecture actually quite very
- 1:01:38recently and something very similar to this topic we have
- 1:01:40now was mentioned and someone came a companion Oxy Mohammed
- 1:01:44Hassan Ali Salaam. He was like, you know, why
- 1:01:46shouldn't we rise now? And he and he was like, have you
- 1:01:49not seen the state of the people?
- 1:01:51It's very similar to the time of Rasul Allah when the Polyphus at
- 1:01:55the Polyphus, they they did what?
- 1:01:57They rejected revelation. Yeah.
- 1:02:00And what's Mahavir doing now? Rejecting the interpretation,
- 1:02:03which is artists at the Bates. So it was like there's they
- 1:02:07almost confused. They almost reached a stage
- 1:02:10where they didn't know Hafiz battle.
- 1:02:11And you mentioned a very nice point, say the way you said, you
- 1:02:14know, during that nine years, Imam and Hassan was doing what?
- 1:02:18Teaching Quran, sharing the gems and the wisdom, and this is what
- 1:02:22allowed, I think for support for Imam Hussein.
- 1:02:25Yeah, bring back the clarity of what's truth is falsehood.
- 1:02:29Otherwise it was going to stand beside the Barb.
- 1:02:32And you know what, I think what's amazing is it also set
- 1:02:35the precedent for the Shia in later centuries to understand
- 1:02:39that the different Imams and IBM Salaam each had that strategy.
- 1:02:42Imam Ali, Aliyah Salaam, at times we saw him rise.
- 1:02:46At times we saw him take a step back and wait for the right
- 1:02:49moment. Imam has an Imam Hussein in
- 1:02:51their own ways as well. And then of course, when you get
- 1:02:53to the time of Mohammad Al Islam, who of course had a
- 1:02:55position in government, you talk about the Imams who are under
- 1:02:59house arrest, the Imams who are imprisoned.
- 1:03:01These the shit are at the time became aware that we have to
- 1:03:04play it by ear. We can't just be what's the word
- 1:03:08I'm looking for? I keep losing my words today.
- 1:03:10We can't be aggressive and we can't be confrontational
- 1:03:13sometimes. You know, I heard someone say
- 1:03:15the other day, in fact it was a scholar who said to me in a
- 1:03:21private gathering, he said to me one of the flaws of our
- 1:03:23community. In his humble kind of
- 1:03:26assessment, he says sometimes we are too Mokhtari or too Zaidi in
- 1:03:30the way we approach things. You know, for example, you talk
- 1:03:32about Zaidi in Ali. Why did Mama Bach and Imam Salim
- 1:03:35Salam not rise at the time? They thought there was a time
- 1:03:39and place to take up arms. In the same way, when we talk
- 1:03:42about Mokhtar and the difference between him and Imam Sajad after
- 1:03:45the battle of Kabbalah, they had their approaches right.
- 1:03:48But sometimes we are quite naive.
- 1:03:50We talked about said Sistani and may well preserve him.
- 1:03:53The the wisdom that kind of came from from the the fatwas.
- 1:03:59I think it taught many of us a lesson because it's Mokaladin
- 1:04:02and and many of us who follow him and respect him, even if
- 1:04:05we're not his Mokaladin. But we saw that there is ways to
- 1:04:09approach things the right time and place.
- 1:04:10I don't. One of the biggest things I
- 1:04:12would ask people at home to take away from from this discussion
- 1:04:15is mainly the fact that leadership is not always about
- 1:04:19the grip of power. Do you see what I mean?
- 1:04:22It's not always about the grip of power, but it's about doing
- 1:04:24the right thing. Sometimes the difficult thing in
- 1:04:27a moment of time where you know that your people need this,
- 1:04:30whether they know it or not, doesn't matter.
- 1:04:32And Muhammad Hassan acted in a way where he was seen to
- 1:04:35relinquish power. But what he did was he
- 1:04:38maintained the dignity and the lives.
- 1:04:40He stopped the spilling of the blood of his own Shia.
- 1:04:42And in doing so he protected his community.
- 1:04:45But he also exposed the enemy. He exposed them for their
- 1:04:47hypocrisy, their manipulation, their deceit.
- 1:04:50And of course 20 years exactly later, the 61 after Hitler, the
- 1:04:55battle of Karbala took place and it all started from the decades
- 1:04:57prior and we saw the the four like dominoes in build up to
- 1:05:02Karbala. We saw Yazid and and the tactics
- 1:05:04he employed. Although he was a public Sinner,
- 1:05:07he had similarities to his father.
- 1:05:09Of course, then then their their, the root origin of their
- 1:05:13hate of the albeit came from the same source, you know, and that
- 1:05:17the whole of Banu Ameya was exposed with that he knows.
- 1:05:20I think it's interesting for us just from a reflection
- 1:05:23perspective to understand that what a mammoth has.
- 1:05:26Reflection just for a moment, because something is striking me
- 1:05:29as you're saying all of this, you know, you we gave the
- 1:05:31examples of, for example, the Fatahwa by the Maraja and now
- 1:05:35we're talking about why did the mammoth Hassan to soda, for
- 1:05:37example, on that point of, you know, they are the Hodge of
- 1:05:41Allah as the widget, right? So they can do whatever they
- 1:05:44want to do, whether we understand or not.
- 1:05:46Talking about reflection, if we go to the Holy Quran being, you
- 1:05:49know, the month of Ramadan, let's open up that book and show
- 1:05:51Allah I learn from it. I remember something Moussa al
- 1:05:55his Salam when he didn't understand what Hodor was doing.
- 1:05:59And Hodor kept telling him, stop asking me, I'll tell you later,
- 1:06:02right? And then Moussa, you know, he
- 1:06:04sees like the hole in the ship. What's going on?
- 1:06:07We're gonna sing. Imam has a references this
- 1:06:09right? Is it?
- 1:06:09I'm not sure. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:06:11So panel, there's a way. I promise to God.
- 1:06:13I promise to God. I read the hadith on this as a
- 1:06:15reference. One right, Karen, Karen on the
- 1:06:17right track. And then he sees all the slaying
- 1:06:19of the young boy and again he says, what's going on?
- 1:06:22He goes I told you, I told you not to ask.
- 1:06:24You're not going to understand. Sometimes we're not going to
- 1:06:26understand right. If Moussa Alayhi Salaam, you
- 1:06:29know, had like questions or like what on earth is happening.
- 1:06:33It looks wrong at the at that time, but there was heck man
- 1:06:37behind it as Allah has destined for it to happen.
- 1:06:40I think sometimes we just need to sit back and know our place.
- 1:06:44They are the Mussol mean. Trust, trust in God, trust in
- 1:06:48God, trust his way. Put your trust in him to what
- 1:06:51could means have full reliance on the law.
- 1:06:53Full reliance is you can sleep while they take the wheel.
- 1:06:56You don't have to worry of you know what will they do?
- 1:06:58Well, will they drive safe? I have full trust in you.
- 1:07:03You know, imagine if like an F1 driver is the guy taking you
- 1:07:06around town and through a busy intersection.
- 1:07:09You're a good man. This person can handle speeds of
- 1:07:12200 miles. You're good.
- 1:07:14I think in the fast pace of life, we need to sit back and
- 1:07:17just trust in God's wisdom, even if we don't comprehend it and
- 1:07:20understand it. Appreciate the fact that someone
- 1:07:23smarter, more wise is taking control and you've put your
- 1:07:27trust and levelled your trust in their hands.
- 1:07:30So that's what it really means at the end of the day that I
- 1:07:33know we're in good hands, even though I don't know the name of
- 1:07:36the pilots, but I know we're going to get there.
- 1:07:39That's so true. So then why do I need to bother
- 1:07:42about learning or understanding or trying to comprehend the
- 1:07:46decision and the competence of the one piloting my world every
- 1:07:51single day? I never care about will I wake
- 1:07:54up breathing tomorrow? I know it's in his hands because
- 1:07:57it's it's showed me before. I don't ask questions about the
- 1:08:01bus driver if they're going to drive us well, because are they
- 1:08:04learn to do that. I know you're good because
- 1:08:06you're by default in control. I know the fact that it's in
- 1:08:09your hands, you're in control. Then I should relax.
- 1:08:12I'm good. It's good.
- 1:08:14Or chill. He's done it before, he'll do it
- 1:08:17again. And if things go through a bumpy
- 1:08:20terrain and turbulence, well, that might be just a wake up
- 1:08:23haul. So you were snoozing off.
- 1:08:25A little bit of shake will wake me up.
- 1:08:27As upon Allah and times and struggle, hurdles, obstacles,
- 1:08:30pitfalls, they do wake us up. Because Imam Ali says if God
- 1:08:34didn't create death nor sickness nor illness, man will not bow
- 1:08:38down to anything. Excellent beautiful, what AI
- 1:08:42think? Stock reminder for us, honestly.
- 1:08:44Man will not bow down to anything if you get to a point
- 1:08:47where you're like, I'm in control.
- 1:08:48No you're not. Let me remind you.
- 1:08:51Boom. Global pandemic.
- 1:08:53We need that humbling. Humble man, humble yourself to
- 1:08:59Allah, he'll rise you. But don't try to rise above
- 1:09:01Allah. Don't think I got this.
- 1:09:03No, no, no. Muhammad Ali.
- 1:09:05Sick quote. He says God gave me Parkinson's
- 1:09:09disease in the later years of my life because for the most part
- 1:09:12of my life I kept saying I'm the greatest.
- 1:09:15He reminded me no, he is a love 1.
- 1:09:17Amazing. Just quickly before we wrap up,
- 1:09:20said Ali. You're a man, said Ali.
- 1:09:23You've mentioned the remorse. Ali Salaam Imam has sent his
- 1:09:27response to a person who called the Imam the humiliator of pious
- 1:09:30men. As you mentioned, I'm not the
- 1:09:33humiliator, humiliator of pious men.
- 1:09:35Rather I've raised their honour so that I realized that you Shia
- 1:09:38did not have the power to resist and confront the Syrian Army.
- 1:09:41I handed the Caliphate to Mahawi in order to save your lives.
- 1:09:45Just as a tactful person who causes a defect in a ship to
- 1:09:48save its owners and passengers. Life pointing the Quranic story
- 1:09:51of Mosul Khaler in Sotel Kaha, our story is similar to this.
- 1:09:56This is because we could remain among our enemies and opponents.
- 1:09:59He references this exact hadith and I think it's so nice that.
- 1:10:02You brought out and that's why the Bates are one in one with
- 1:10:05the Holy Quran. Yeah, they are The Walking,
- 1:10:07talking, speaking, living, breathing book of God because
- 1:10:10that's all they use in referencing and analyzing and
- 1:10:13deducting and providing and explaining and guiding us in the
- 1:10:18ship of life. You know one of the things they
- 1:10:20always say to us, they always say where's, where's the Imam in
- 1:10:23the Quran? Where's their name?
- 1:10:24Where's you don't need to see their name in the Quran.
- 1:10:27You can see the Quran in them a lot.
- 1:10:29You know what I'm saying? Like their their actions, their
- 1:10:32clock, their hadith, all of this stuff.
- 1:10:34You see the Quran, Imam Al Hassan is in Medina and a man
- 1:10:37enters the city and he says, I have a question about tefsir.
- 1:10:40Yeah. And there's an ayah Switz
- 1:10:42brugge, Washa hidden or meshu. Put it as how they look, dude.
- 1:10:47And so and then so he enters Medina.
- 1:10:52He says they're teaching. All of them are sitting in the
- 1:10:54measure of the Prophet and they have their halakat and their
- 1:10:57teachers and everyone sitting around the teacher.
- 1:10:59I go to the first teacher and I say who is what are the Shahid
- 1:11:04and what is the meshoud? Who is the seer observer and
- 1:11:07what is being observed. I ask this first man who's
- 1:11:11teaching and he says to me, As for the Shahid, it's Yom El
- 1:11:16Jumua. As for the mashood, it's Yom El
- 1:11:20Kiyama. He gets, he says that that's a
- 1:11:24good answer, but how does that even relate?
- 1:11:26How does Juma see? How does what's the what's
- 1:11:29beyond? He goes to another circle of
- 1:11:31group and he says Ustad Sheikh Shahid mashood, what's the tips
- 1:11:35here? He's like, As for the Shahid,
- 1:11:37it's the day of alafa. As for the mashood, it's beyond.
- 1:11:41They repeat that he said that doesn't make sense.
- 1:11:43I don't understand someone's looking.
- 1:11:45How is a day something that is observant goes to a third one
- 1:11:49And he says that third individual can know what Jahud
- 1:11:52Dinar, his face is radiating like the gold coin that we use.
- 1:11:56He's like, what's the Shahid? What's the mahud?
- 1:11:58He's like the Shahid. There's none other than
- 1:12:00Rasulullah Muhammad, and the mahud is none other than the
- 1:12:08Prophet himself. Like how he says, hello, the
- 1:12:11Quran, yahun Nabi, all messenger of God, inna baath naka shahiden
- 1:12:16Omo bashiran when Adira. And then he says, O holy
- 1:12:22Messenger of God, we have dispatched you as an observer.
- 1:12:28And then he brings an ayah in reference that the day of
- 1:12:31judgement is that day of which all things will be witnessed.
- 1:12:36And by mentioning this ayah, he showcased that the prophet of
- 1:12:39Islam is the one witnessing and the day of the judgement is the
- 1:12:42day that is receiving on the recipient of the witnessing of
- 1:12:45the Holy Messenger of God. He says, at that point I asked
- 1:12:48who were all these three? The first one they said was Ibn
- 1:12:50Ammar. The second one they said was Ibn
- 1:12:52Abbas. The third one they said was Ibn
- 1:12:54Ibn Ibn Ibn. I thought about Hassan and
- 1:12:55Mushbah. You're familiar with the famous
- 1:12:58story where the Romans, they come and they ask, for example,
- 1:13:01Mahalia, Hey, we have 10 questions regarding the hardness
- 1:13:05level of each object. One is harder than the last.
- 1:13:09Can you answer which 10-1 is harder than the next?
- 1:13:12He's like, I don't know what you're talking about, but
- 1:13:14there's a man in Medina who might answer that question for
- 1:13:16you. So they go to Medina and they're
- 1:13:18like, who's this top notch quality scholar paradigm of
- 1:13:22intelligence that we keep hearing about like his name is,
- 1:13:24hasn't him now how do you go? He goes to how it has these
- 1:13:28Roman and I guess delegates were just coming around asking weird
- 1:13:30questions, but they're like, hey, there are 10 things in
- 1:13:32life, which is one harder, stronger than the next.
- 1:13:37He says. You know, The thing is, stone is
- 1:13:41hard, but iron breaks stone. Fire melts iron.
- 1:13:46Water extinguishes fire. The cloud carries the water.
- 1:13:51The wind moves the cloud. The Angel who controls the wind
- 1:13:55controls the wind. The Angel of death overpowers
- 1:13:58the Angel that controls the wind.
- 1:14:00Death overpowers the Angel of death, and Allah overpowers it
- 1:14:03all, for he is the living that does not die.
- 1:14:08He goes through all of these things.
- 1:14:10There are debates between Imam Hassan and Yazid Abdnammuhalia
- 1:14:13himself. Yazid confronts him, for Yazid's
- 1:14:16first confrontation wasn't with Imam Hussain in Sham, it was
- 1:14:20with Imam Hassan. And I think it developed in him
- 1:14:23a sense of a culmination of hatred that now it's like, I've,
- 1:14:27I've seen this movie before with your brother.
- 1:14:30And so Imam Hassan has a full on debate when they meet in Hajj,
- 1:14:34they meet, they gather. And as he comes and Imam, we
- 1:14:37have this back and forth. Of course, Imam hasn't smoked
- 1:14:40some as he usually does, you know.
- 1:14:42And so it's this is our Imam. And we should be so honored and
- 1:14:46delighted. And we have to do more work in
- 1:14:50appreciating his sacrifice and understanding his
- 1:14:52thoughtfulness. He's eating bread and he's
- 1:14:54breaking a piece of it and giving it to a dog.
- 1:14:58This is not befitting of your quality.
- 1:15:00You eat from the same thing that you're giving this dog.
- 1:15:05To which he says ini astechi AKA gel and akula.
- 1:15:14I am embarrassed. I feel unwell that I eat and a
- 1:15:21soul is staring at me hungry. The animals were recipients of
- 1:15:26his generosity. He's like, I can't shame on me,
- 1:15:29I'm eating. Here's an animal, a dog that we
- 1:15:32kick around and we find as dirty in the streets and we just
- 1:15:35ignore and we avoid. And I says no, no, I will feed
- 1:15:37you from what God has given me because I don't like the fact
- 1:15:40that you're hungry and you're looking at me.
- 1:15:42If that's not peak generosity, well, I don't know what is.
- 1:15:46He's he's he's Karim a little bit Karam generosity in all
- 1:15:50levels that he's even willing to give up his own right of
- 1:15:54political leadership, but not his God-given right of
- 1:15:58leadership. Iman not the Imara.
- 1:16:02And that's our Imam. That's why we should be proud.
- 1:16:04He paved the way for Imam and Hussein's uprising.
- 1:16:07He says La Yom Kyomuk ABBA Abdullah that 30,000 will come
- 1:16:14at you and there is no day like your day.
- 1:16:15Imam Hussein loved his brother. How much we love Imam Hussein,
- 1:16:19They show that same love to his brother because he loved his
- 1:16:21brother more than he loved his own self.
- 1:16:23He is the Imam for Imam Hussein. Actually we have to get our
- 1:16:27priorities straight. That's a lane is what we need to
- 1:16:31be focusing on in life. The Quran and the other debate.
- 1:16:33If you have your Shia friend who you're not seeing eye to eye
- 1:16:36with, you kept saying this is so beautiful that so long as they
- 1:16:40meet you on this level, it's worth it.
- 1:16:43If a dog can be a recipient of your generosity, your fellow
- 1:16:46Shia won't. Your official fellow Shia can't
- 1:16:48because they have disagreements with you on a social, economic,
- 1:16:51political, geopolitical, theological, spiritual,
- 1:16:53jurisprudential level. That's it, That you counseled
- 1:16:56them. You are a Shia.
- 1:16:58Hassan is the key and Nas al Amin Suttoro Sulila al much taba
- 1:17:04APA al motaha Ibn APA. You are better than that.
- 1:17:10You have higher standards, you're stronger than that.
- 1:17:13Harm people if you want to do that, belittle them.
- 1:17:15Just don't call yourself a Shia. We can't afford this because
- 1:17:19sacrifices have been made so much to the highest proportions.
- 1:17:24And here comes someone who says I am a Shiree and then rebukes,
- 1:17:28hurts, bullies, bad mouths others who are also from their
- 1:17:34same worldview. If a dog is a recipe of
- 1:17:36generosity, as the Imam showed, I'm ashamed to eat while this is
- 1:17:41hungry and staring at me. Actually, get your priorities
- 1:17:43straight. Let's put the bygones away in
- 1:17:46honor of his blessed molded. Let's learn to be like him, even
- 1:17:50if it means sometimes by eating the bullet for the greater good.
