Transcript
- 0:00Camp, Second chance camp, Second chance Camp, Second Chance camp.
- 0:07Second Chance, Welcome to die size and welcome back to camp
- 0:11Second Chance. This is a role for Shoes
- 0:13Adventure that follows troublemakers Goody, Joey and
- 0:15Monty as they experience the magic and the mystery of this
- 0:18scared straight style summer camp program and playing these
- 0:22incredible characters. My whimsical, wild and witty
- 0:25table of family members. Here we of course have my
- 0:28brother-in-law George. I'm a goodie and I don't know
- 0:33where George went. He was being mean to me and
- 0:36after I hit him on the head he just disappeared.
- 0:38Kicks the body under the couch. Well, good thing I'm not a
- 0:41mandated reporter. Up next, we have Rob.
- 0:45I don't know what you're talking about.
- 0:47It's just me, a Joey Trombone, a boy with a mom sorely missed.
- 0:52But don't worry. I'm learning a lot here,
- 0:54becoming something of a mentalist.
- 0:57Happy to be here and happy to be at this.
- 0:59What do you call it? A table?
- 1:01Yeah, it looks like a table. I can't tell if you have a very
- 1:03bright or very dark future ahead, Joey.
- 1:05My mom says that I could go either way if I go down my dad's
- 1:08path. Stupid dog.
- 1:09But if I if I stay on this straight and narrow like my two
- 1:12older sisters, then I might have a chance.
- 1:15Joey, did I hear? Are you talking about going down
- 1:16your dad's path? How many times do I have to tell
- 1:18you don't go down your dad's path?
- 1:20I got a natural talent with cars that's in my blood.
- 1:23Not my Joey. I'm sorry, mine, I can do
- 1:26everything from the ambitious card to three card Monty to
- 1:30stand up Monty I got I got a friend name.
- 1:32Joey, you're doing the talking thing again.
- 1:33Just take your sandwich and be good, OK?
- 1:35All right, all right, Ma, thanks.
- 1:37This one better not be peanut butter.
- 1:39The last one I needed to use an EpiPen.
- 1:41I'm pretty sure Monty was the one who had to use the EpiPen.
- 1:43And Speaking of Monty, we Maya. Hey, it's pronounced Monty, but
- 1:51it's really good try. I'm already planning to allocate
- 1:54some of my trust fund to a lawsuit against this camp.
- 1:59Second chance for Let me hear it, child.
- 2:02Endangerment. Respect the lady.
- 2:05I felt endangered. Yeah, you can't scare me
- 2:07straight, but I will bring a lawsuit down on you, so don't
- 2:12mess with me. I'm.
- 2:12Shaking in my boots. Good.
- 2:14OK. She had the skill legal team.
- 2:18I already have imposters. Oops, she said what she said.
- 2:27And with that, it is time for a recap.
- 2:31Last time, our campers bravely endured their first full day at
- 2:35Camp Second Chance. They managed to choke down their
- 2:38breakfast slop while meeting Counselor Brock Sleuth around
- 2:41the counselor cabins to eavesdrop on staff, practice
- 2:45their talent show skills, and ultimately deliver some of the
- 2:48most entertaining acts Camp Second Chance has ever seen.
- 2:52Campers went wild for all three of this trio's act, but in the
- 2:55end Joey Trombone's ability to read between the lines of what
- 2:58was happening at camp put Brock center stage and in the hot
- 3:02seat, exposing his less than stellar tattoo of Lottie's face
- 3:06as well as his affection for said Co counselor.
- 3:09Joey walked away with the wind, inviting Monty and Goody to
- 3:12experience the prize alongside him.
- 3:14After dinner, the trio packed their bags and were promptly
- 3:17ushered toward the forest where they'd have the honor of being
- 3:21the first campers of the summer to experience the Lantern path,
- 3:24followed by an unsupervised night under the stars.
- 3:28They put 1 foot in front of the other and set off toward the
- 3:31unknown. Now, the cheers of chatty
- 3:35campers and encouragement from camp counselors fades away
- 3:39almost suspiciously quickly. Before you know it, you're
- 3:43immersed in the dense foliage of the forest.
- 3:46If you were to turn around, you'd see only winding path
- 3:50behind you and an eerily similar sight up ahead.
- 3:53On either side of you, Large, tattered paper lanterns hanging
- 3:57in the trees along the path begin to glow.
- 4:01They're pulsing with warm, welcoming light, announcing your
- 4:04arrival to the official start of the Lantern path.
- 4:09What do you do and how do you explore as you feel the sense of
- 4:12arrival? Now guys, are you, are you
- 4:15seeing what I'm seeing? I don't really know what I'm
- 4:17seeing. I feel I see lights.
- 4:19I that's what I'm seeing. So I just wanted to make sure
- 4:21that we're on the same fucking page, OK?
- 4:22Yeah, for something as like renowned as the Lantern Path,
- 4:26you'd think that they'd do a little bit more upkeep, but
- 4:29that's just me. Yeah, and I don't get scared
- 4:31very easily, but I mean, if they're going to try to scare us
- 4:34straight, how are they going to do it with some lanterns?
- 4:37And it is it. Is it fire or is it like bad
- 4:40wiring? I don't know, why don't you
- 4:41climb up there and find out, Goody?
- 4:43Hold this I give the end of my shoelace to you because I don't
- 4:46want to lose you. I Sprint, I run up the wall or.
- 4:52Whatever, Like ties it to her wrist.
- 4:54Very smart. That's very, very smart.
- 4:56OK. That's a classic goody, just
- 4:57running up the well I can you do that with shoes on?
- 5:00Using that toe grip. Oh, I kick my shoes off as I
- 5:03run. Oh boy, here we go.
- 5:04OK, so we're going to use toe grip.
- 5:06Yeah, I'm going to set the check at an 8 to see if you can get up
- 5:10this tree. So you have toe grip 3, three.
- 5:12Yeah. That's an 11.
- 5:15So you succeed on running up the tree.
- 5:18You only had 1-6, so you're a little far away from leveling up
- 5:20a totally new skill, but you did succeed on the check, so you're
- 5:23able to run up the tree. What does it look like as you
- 5:25attempt to investigate these lanterns?
- 5:28I think I follow the the flickering light and I'm looking
- 5:32for anything that looks like man made versus natural Violet
- 5:37Lantern and I think I grab the bark like with my feet almost
- 5:41sideways like toe gripping each bark.
- 5:43Really. Primate.
- 5:44Each. Oh yeah, and I'm hanging upside
- 5:46down looking at the Lantern. OK, we've got a monkey bat.
- 5:51Hey, guys. Hey, guys.
- 5:52I can see it. What do you what am I looking
- 5:53for? Do you see like a wire like a
- 5:56solar panel? Like I don't think they'd be
- 5:58that advanced, but maybe like a like a fire like.
- 6:01I I see a little little leaves. I don't know anything past that
- 6:04yet. Also, how the fuck do you do
- 6:06that? Oh, when I was, when I was
- 6:08younger, I had to get across the river to go to my home and I
- 6:12would basically just kind of hop from my toes to each Pebble that
- 6:16was exposed in the water and my toes just got weird.
- 6:20I'll just tell you, when you do a lot of things with your toes,
- 6:22it just kind of get weird. Yeah, that's what Bruce Lee said
- 6:24about his knuckles. I oh really?
- 6:27I think I try to do like a one inch toe punch and I like blow a
- 6:30hole. That's OK.
- 6:33Yeah, let's just stay up there for now.
- 6:35We're looking at a lot of things.
- 6:36OK, so you've lowered yourself to get a good line of sight on
- 6:39the lanterns. Yeah, I think I'm like trying to
- 6:40be a branch above it. Sure.
- 6:42So these look man made they look like a traditional paper Lantern
- 6:46that someone might like light a tea light in and release at a
- 6:48like a you know, like a Lantern send off ceremony.
- 6:51There's like a wire cage and this paper is stretched around
- 6:56it. The light source doesn't look
- 6:58like fire. You don't see a ton of wiring,
- 7:00but it looks pretty like maybe an LED bulb.
- 7:03Pretty boring. Pretty boring.
- 7:07The paper is tattered. It looks like the lantern's in
- 7:11rough shape. Guys, I I see it's not even
- 7:14fire. It's it's a stupid little LED.
- 7:17Is it like battery powered again?
- 7:19Like are we looking for wires I. Don't see a lot of wires, it's
- 7:21just a it's like a shitty paper Lantern with an LED in it.
- 7:25Can you like unhook it? Toe punch.
- 7:28Oh, OK, Toe punch. We're toe punching the Lantern.
- 7:32The Lantern glows brighter. And are you hoping to, like,
- 7:36knock it out of the tree? Yeah.
- 7:37Just destructive force. OK.
- 7:39Yeah. So it glows brighter and it
- 7:41falls out of the tree. And at the same time, you hear,
- 7:43like, really loud rumbling, almost as if there's Thunder
- 7:47happening in the forest. The councillors briefed you on
- 7:49the weather to make sure that you were going to be safe
- 7:51tonight. But when you Kick It Out of the
- 7:53tree, it's just, like, terribly loud.
- 7:55And these Thunder claps are like shaking the ground.
- 7:58I put it. Back, Put it back, put it back.
- 8:00I run, I run down the tree and guys, guys, guys, guys, I think
- 8:04I toe punched lightning. It is a Lantern on the ground.
- 8:08It is on the ground and it is still glowing really brightly.
- 8:11Goody, I'm sorry. Looks at their feet.
- 8:14Batty, I'm gonna need you to put this back.
- 8:17To put it back. Put it back.
- 8:18Put it back. Why I like get things broken.
- 8:20Did you hear what I did? Along the path, the other
- 8:23lanterns that are nearby to where you're standing, they
- 8:25start to glow as well. The Thunder has stopped, but now
- 8:29you feel like the sky is changing color.
- 8:32OK, I'll put it back. Yeah, I run up the tree with the
- 8:36Lantern and I try to put it back into the place where it was.
- 8:41OK, you successfully hook it up there.
- 8:43The lights, I would say, are still sort of bright and
- 8:45flickering. You're still experiencing a
- 8:47little bit of, like, the aftershock and the afterglow of
- 8:50some of those weird visual sensations.
- 8:53Yeah. So you're back on the path.
- 8:54You're righted. There's no Thunder happening.
- 8:57The Sky's a little bit of a funky color.
- 8:58What do you do next? Guys, I think they put something
- 9:02in my lunch or something. Could you could you pull up my
- 9:05shoestring muddy? Tugs that.
- 9:09You pull them out of the tree. Yeah, that was don't monster
- 9:12that I thought it would. Be Daddy, put your shoes back
- 9:14on. Don't worry, I think I caught
- 9:15them. Hopefully I caught them.
- 9:16Can I roll? Can I roll and see if I caught
- 9:18them? Yeah.
- 9:19I'm gonna roll in. I'm gonna roll for catch Batty.
- 9:23Yeah, I mean our street. Magic St.
- 9:25Magic works right? St. magic.
- 9:28So I'm. Gonna put my shoes on.
- 9:29You've got St. Magic too.
- 9:30Your check is gonna be a six. That's a six.
- 9:33Hey, yes, that's a six total you.
- 9:35Successfully catch up. Nice.
- 9:37OK, I think the street magic aspect of this is that I don't
- 9:41know what the street magic aspect of this is, but I catch
- 9:43him and I and I say hey goody, my next trick is to pull you out
- 9:48of my hat and I pull him out of my jacket, which he fell into.
- 9:52That was a lot of deodorant not there.
- 9:58Well, I mean, OK, the jacket's been through a lot.
- 10:00You almost go to falling through one of these holes.
- 10:02But a good thing I was smart. About it, have you?
- 10:04Have you ever washed that? You don't wash a jacket.
- 10:08OK, I'm you. Dry clean a jacket I think.
- 10:12What's? I'm scared straight.
- 10:13I need to. I need to go.
- 10:15When you're scared, you don't just make up words, OK?
- 10:18That's not a made-up word. I know you just learned to read,
- 10:20but it's not a made-up word. It's 2 words together that don't
- 10:23make sense. Says that I don't really
- 10:25understand, but Patrice went all like my, you know, designer is,
- 10:30you know, worn. She takes it all to the dry
- 10:33cleaner. I don't know how it works, but
- 10:34it comes back smelling great. This is distracting and pleasant
- 10:38and not. I don't really want to think
- 10:39about the weird colors in the sky and stuff.
- 10:41So keep telling me about the pleasant smells of your the dry
- 10:44cleaning. One foot in front of the other,
- 10:45you know, we'll just keep walking down the path.
- 10:48Yeah. They have different scents.
- 10:49There's, like fresh linen. There's floral work.
- 10:53Yeah. Wildflower.
- 10:55Amazing. And there's.
- 10:57Like an Aqua mist they have. Like dirt?
- 11:01They have more of like an earthy, it's kind of like a
- 11:03sandalwood. It could give a little bit of
- 11:05dirt if you like thought about it.
- 11:06I. Like that one?
- 11:07I'll, I'll take that one. As you as you have this
- 11:09conversation, it seems like all of your minds are really sort of
- 11:12soothed by this pleasant distraction from Monty.
- 11:14You're sort of taken out of the context of the forest and
- 11:17brought to a much more peaceful place.
- 11:18And when you eventually come to and decide to look around after
- 11:22this conversation, you notice that the lanterns are glowing
- 11:24very peacefully in the forest. Seems to be in a very
- 11:27straightforward state. I I Monty, I think you just did
- 11:31that. Yeah, I think I just like, bored
- 11:33the forest into submission or something.
- 11:35Or boring. That was the most beautiful
- 11:37story I've ever heard. Oh yeah, I mean, I must have
- 11:39just entertained the forest into submission or something.
- 11:44Do you guys keep moving forward as you talk?
- 11:46I think if we just put 1 foot in front of the other and keep
- 11:49walking, don't touch the lanterns, don't climb the trees
- 11:52and we'll find the campsite, right?
- 11:53I mean like they just what they just said, just walk down the
- 11:55path and then we'll be camping. Here, let's let's just all take
- 11:59a little bit of a shoelace here, Joey.
- 12:01OK, well, just. Take the shoelace.
- 12:04OK, All right. I just, I don't, I don't know
- 12:06whatever I'm, you know, what kind of plan I'm going to get
- 12:08tied up in with you, so. OK.
- 12:10Well, it's connected to me too. You know why?
- 12:14That's actually I'm he dropped it.
- 12:19I don't think I should hold something.
- 12:20I mean, where are we? At the Joey's ankle.
- 12:23No, you're right, there are no strings attached.
- 12:25See, you say things like that and then my brain just kind of
- 12:27breaks because I think you're saying one thing and I think you
- 12:29might be saying another, but I can't really, I can't be
- 12:31confident in either case. As you keep walking, you pass
- 12:35more and more lanterns that are glowing really gently.
- 12:38If you weren't so sort of like scared by the past experience,
- 12:40it would be really, really beautiful.
- 12:42It is really, really beautiful. But the lanterns, they look
- 12:45really weathered as you pass more and more so.
- 12:47Some are torn or ripped, others are stretched taut and sort of
- 12:51bulging around their wiry metal frames.
- 12:54Some seem to have been tampered with and feature like smeared
- 12:57drawings or graffiti. They look worse for wear.
- 13:01It's almost like they're tired. That's not right.
- 13:05Look at all this. I mean, I feel like I'm starting
- 13:07to like this path now that we're, you know, all the weird
- 13:10stuff stopped. As you experience this sense of
- 13:12joy, Joey, you hear like a really loud rushing babbling
- 13:17brook on the other side of the path, even though you know the
- 13:19only water source in the area is the lake.
- 13:23Excuse me, did I just develop superpowers?
- 13:27Because I think I can hear the river that's got to be at least
- 13:30three miles that way. The one that's on the other side
- 13:32of the lake, there's because there's no other water.
- 13:34Around here, I mean, what else can you hear?
- 13:37Can you hear anybody talking 3 miles away?
- 13:38Let me. See, I think Joey.
- 13:43My Joey. Yeah.
- 13:45I, I how was your time? Oh, Christ, Joey.
- 13:49How's your time? I'm I'm on the other end of the
- 13:51fence, 3 miles away. Can you hear me, Joey?
- 13:56Your brain and this forest are surely playing tricks on you
- 14:00because you know there's no way that your mom has found you all
- 14:03the way out here. Joey just screamed into the
- 14:05forest. You cannot canonically be here.
- 14:11Somehow I am going run this way. You sound so much like Whitey
- 14:17Duvall from 8. Crazy 8.
- 14:19Crazy nights with Adam Sandler I'm.
- 14:21Trying to be Joey's. Ball far away.
- 14:24Perfect. OK, so these things keep
- 14:27happening. You hear things that you know
- 14:28aren't there. You see things that are really
- 14:30disorienting on the path. It's a confusing place.
- 14:33The sky changes color and then quickly returns to, you know,
- 14:36standard nighttime sky. You start to feel a little
- 14:40disoriented by all of the overwhelming aspects of the
- 14:43forest up ahead. Tangled vines and overgrown
- 14:47brush start to crowd the path in really thick clumps.
- 14:50Cloud cover suddenly blots out the light of the moon.
- 14:53It's so dark aside from the lanterns gentle glow.
- 14:56Now you can hear some of their ripped paper fluttering in the
- 14:59breeze, and I think you all begin to feel a bit weary in
- 15:03their presence. Do you think there's the same
- 15:06paper bags they use every fucking year?
- 15:08Yeah, I was wondering that too. Can I roll for appraisal to see
- 15:11how old these lanterns? Are you?
- 15:12Can you have appraisal 4? I'm gonna set the check at 10.
- 15:20More than that 13. OK, so you investigate maybe the
- 15:23nearest Lantern to you and you see some like stick figure
- 15:26drawings and a pencil that have sort of smudged the one across
- 15:30the path from it a little ways up ahead.
- 15:32You see has like Sharpie that says class of 2020 on it.
- 15:37It's 2026, just for reference. Yeah, OK.
- 15:42Wow. This one was has been here at
- 15:44least six years. This one has a really poor
- 15:48drawing on it that looks pretty faded.
- 15:51I'd say like at least 30 thunderstorms.
- 15:57So if I had to guess, they've only bought one set of lanterns.
- 16:03Monty, you're so smart. Thank you.
- 16:05That's a really good drawing, though.
- 16:07Yeah. It it's really good.
- 16:09I couldn't draw like that. All right, how do you count
- 16:12thunderstorms? Well, it's like more of like the
- 16:15the wear on the threading, you know like when you wear a
- 16:18textile certain amount of times it like wears down enough you
- 16:22can kind of tell by how many threads.
- 16:24Like specifically, you're not and you're not like saying by
- 16:28the general quality of the threads, you're saying that you
- 16:31can see specifically how many threads there are.
- 16:35And like, if I held up, he holds up two different parts of his
- 16:37jacket. Which one do I feel?
- 16:39The the, the, you know, the thicker breeze through the one
- 16:43that really makes me cold. Well, probably the one on your
- 16:45left hand, considering that I did poke holes with it in my
- 16:48Louboutins. Oh, yeah, that's, that's fair.
- 16:50OK, OK, that's fair. It's not.
- 16:53That wild Joey you can hear 3 miles away you're.
- 16:55Really good at appraising things and to be clear I think I'm
- 16:59going insane. I don't think I'm hearing things
- 17:013 miles away, but can I do? A roll?
- 17:03Yeah. For what?
- 17:04I wanted the roll to see if Goody noticed any kind of
- 17:07pattern or puzzle with the lanterns as they were
- 17:09flickering. OK.
- 17:10Cool, you've got puzzles too. I'm going to set the check at a
- 17:13six. 7. Wow.
- 17:17OK, so as you took in the lanterns and their glow, you
- 17:21don't notice like like a rhythm to their flickering or an order
- 17:27that they light up in. They almost remind you of those
- 17:31Bluetooth speakers you could buy that sort of respond to music,
- 17:37except instead of responding to music, I don't know, it's like
- 17:40they're on a wavelength with you all and sort of responding to
- 17:45your music of the internal sense.
- 17:49Joey, I think I'm going crazy too.
- 17:51I think the lights are listening to us.
- 17:53Well, the the lights kind of always listen to you buddy, if
- 17:56you think about it, No, but. These lights are are very much
- 17:59listening to us. OK, so one of my dad's favorite
- 18:02things is that he would just talk about quantum and the
- 18:04people about tea. These lights are listening guys.
- 18:08Oh my God they are. That would be so helpful on.
- 18:17Nothing is happening. The lamps, the lanterns continue
- 18:20to glow gently. OK, well, these aren't lamps
- 18:23that listen to me in a way that I'm familiar with, OK?
- 18:28I no, I think he's saying, like my dad was always saying, like
- 18:30we're all wavelengths of light and like in quantum, we're all
- 18:34just, we're all just buzzing. Oh my gosh, this might be like
- 18:38what my shaman was telling me about on my last ayahuasca trip.
- 18:42Yeah, I am 17. Do that math.
- 18:47Endangerment child endangerment. Well your dad does go on what, 8
- 18:51trips within like a month as you described?
- 18:53Yeah, exactly. He's got a lot.
- 18:55Okay, I'm supervised. Yeah.
- 18:57And like we really do like resonate with the things around
- 19:01us. So what if we like did some
- 19:04breath work and maybe the lights would change?
- 19:07Like, what if we got like really calm or like we got like really
- 19:11excited about something and like see what happens?
- 19:20OK, so you'd like to use Mongolian throat singing to do
- 19:23what goody. I would I'd I'd like to enhance
- 19:28this experience with the lights. OK, Connect.
- 19:31What are you attempting to do here with your singing?
- 19:34Establish a sense of calm. He's moving my bowels.
- 19:36I'll tell. You that I want.
- 19:40I want to think about how Monty's speech about different
- 19:45sense made us feel calm. OK, you have Mongolian throat
- 19:49singing three. I would like to see a check of
- 19:5310. That's a 14.
- 19:57Nice. OK, I'm Zen as fuck right now.
- 20:01That's crazy. It's just like my shaman, OK?
- 20:04I think you successfully do make everyone feel very Zen, very
- 20:08calm, and the lanterns feel calm too.
- 20:11Can I read between the lines in this moment to withhold using
- 20:16that as help? Can I try to get like if there's
- 20:19a specific like we we've heard that the path is bad.
- 20:22He's specifically wondering how they become scary.
- 20:24So I mean, what's what's the deal?
- 20:26They're they're not that scary. Like how do they become scary?
- 20:29OK, let's see it. You have read between the lines
- 20:32three. I would like to see a 10.
- 20:35All right, then I'm gonna roll for between the lines, see if I
- 20:37can figure out what's what's what's so scary about these
- 20:39things? Pick my favorites.
- 20:43That's a 6A4 and A1. Which brings me to an 11.
- 20:47OK, so feeling this sense of peace and calm from Goodies
- 20:52Mongolian throat singing, you're remembering that the last time
- 20:55you just felt calm was when Monty was telling you the story
- 20:58about the laundry scents. And when that was happening, the
- 21:01forest and the lanterns also got calm.
- 21:03So what was happening right before Monty was telling you
- 21:06about the DRY? Cleaning.
- 21:09The lanter fell, and we were afraid.
- 21:12Why so when they got all fucked when we didn't respect it?
- 21:16I mean, when, when the, when the light got all screwed up, when
- 21:19we were afraid, I maybe the lanterns, maybe the lanterns
- 21:23were afraid too and they were just showing it in a, in a, in a
- 21:26big scary way. I told you they're listening to
- 21:30us. Why are you singing?
- 21:32Back I'm trying. I OK tell me what they're
- 21:35saying. OK, well this would make sense
- 21:38because we did hear the one camp counselor talking about how they
- 21:42were ready and like how it's a. Judd, the groundskeeper, said.
- 21:46I believe that the lanterns have been acting up this year.
- 21:50Gotcha. So they're acting up then we
- 21:52heard, you know, different from those different campers that
- 21:55like their, their older siblings had a really awful time and like
- 21:58the other ones had a really good time.
- 22:00I wonder if that's just because, you know, you're like supposed
- 22:04to be at camp second chance, you know, 'cause you're like a bad
- 22:07kid or whatever. Like the lanterns are like
- 22:10pissed at you. But like if you're like us, like
- 22:12where it makes no sense to like why we would be here because
- 22:15we're so good. I'm.
- 22:16Supposed to be here. OK, well, I'm.
- 22:18I'm. Here, this doesn't make sense to
- 22:22me. So I feel like the lanterns will
- 22:25be like nice if we're nice. And so maybe just we'll keep
- 22:28walking and. Joey stops at this point, having
- 22:31maybe. We'll just keep walking, Joey
- 22:34stops at. This.
- 22:36Point that's class noticeably paused.
- 22:38He his his eyes went straight down.
- 22:40I imagine Monty just kept talking as like he just pauses
- 22:43and takes a while before you guys notice that he's just like,
- 22:46I think he's progressing to Casino night, having talked
- 22:50about why he deserves to be here and he's like muttering to
- 22:54himself. It's a lot of money from a lot
- 22:56of little old ladies that would just want to play bridge for
- 23:00money. Oh my gosh, Joey Blackjack and
- 23:04let it go. Literally.
- 23:05My family has built a empire on stealing money from people.
- 23:09Like it's not that big of a deal.
- 23:10Yeah, my dad just does it so personally.
- 23:12And he was like, yeah, Joey, if you want to join me on jobs,
- 23:15I'll pick you up in town and you just got to do 1 big one for me.
- 23:17You got the one it doesn't. Matter how you get the money, it
- 23:20matters what you do with the money, right?
- 23:22Like you can wash it just fine. Joey, are you feeling sad?
- 23:26Well, the The thing is, there's something I never told anyone.
- 23:30And The thing is that, so I double crossed my dad and then
- 23:35he triple crossed me. I didn't want to do the job, but
- 23:38I did the job because it was just enough to pay for the
- 23:42rehab. And I and I when I took him,
- 23:44when I took him there, I gave him the money.
- 23:46I said, I trust you, dad. I hope you walk through that
- 23:48door. Mistake.
- 23:50Lightning claps through the sky. Oh, oh, no, Joey.
- 23:55Happy thoughts. Happy thoughts, OK.
- 23:57There we go. Yeah, Into your nose, out
- 24:00through your mouth. Too much bowel movement.
- 24:02Too much bowel movement. You hear laughter.
- 24:05Around the next bend. Oh, OK, well.
- 24:08Yeah, OK, Follow the laughter. Away from the bowel movements.
- 24:12Yeah, I think if we stay calm and we do, you know, keep
- 24:16walking, everything will be fine and we'll find the, like, shack
- 24:19or whatever we're sleeping being in tonight that I'm really not
- 24:21looking forward to. Let's get this over with.
- 24:23Boy, what are a few ways you try to overcome the overwhelm and
- 24:27follow directions on your maps, navigate along the crowded path
- 24:30and make it to your site safely. Monty pulled out a flashlight
- 24:35and is like trying to read the map but like is spinning it
- 24:38constantly. Like she is not outdoorsy.
- 24:41She's like oh, we just need to get to this place.
- 24:43The bugs are coming out. This is Oh my God, oh they itch.
- 24:46Oh my gosh, can someone read this map for me?
- 24:49The lanterns glow really brightly again and you continue
- 24:51to experience sort of like, just take.
- 24:54Off this kind of This all looks like a puzzle to me.
- 24:56I bet you and I can't actually quite really read it in the
- 24:59dark. We'll have to stop by one of the
- 25:00lanterns, and I think I hand the map over to Goody.
- 25:03OK, so where do we go? I think.
- 25:05This way I'm gonna run up the trees, and I'm gonna try to leap
- 25:09from branch to branch while we're on the rest of the way.
- 25:12Oh my God, OK, sweet. You want to use toe grip.
- 25:14For that, yeah. And I want to have fun doing
- 25:16this because it seems like it's the best way to do this and I
- 25:18won't be scared. Y'all been?
- 25:19Scared you have toe grip 3. I'm going to look for a 12. 12.
- 25:25OK. You're able to, between your
- 25:27really long shoelace and your toe grip skills and your ability
- 25:32to run, you can sort of take a Peter Pan approach to getting
- 25:36through the forest and the tangled brush.
- 25:39Maybe you are able to move up ahead and like tell your friends
- 25:43how to get through some of the obstacles.
- 25:45I think that's a great way of navigating.
- 25:47I lean into Monty and I say, you know what?
- 25:49I said the thing that that there's life on other planets
- 25:53and that he could maybe be one of that life on other plants.
- 25:56He looked at me like I was crazy and he just did that.
- 26:00I'm considering changing my opinion on that.
- 26:02Hey guys, I can see the campsite.
- 26:04You just need to leap from that tree to that tree to that stump.
- 26:06Make sure you don't hit that Bramble and when you get over
- 26:08the brook that isn't there, you're good.
- 26:12OK. Is there any way to get there
- 26:13from the ground? Nope.
- 26:16OK, I can't. Well, I guess I am swole.
- 26:19OK, Monty is going to try to like follow the directions, roll
- 26:24for swole, OK? Did you guys do CrossFit as
- 26:26toddlers or what? Monty has.
- 26:29Straight out the womb. Monty has swole too.
- 26:31I thought it was Pilates swole too.
- 26:33I'm looking for a six. I'm also not looking at for like
- 26:36branches in the air. Imagine like, you know, the all
- 26:38those fallen logs and things that like, yeah, yeah.
- 26:41Just like a very dense forest, like full, of course there's
- 26:44there's one very long fallen log that you like run up and then
- 26:48there's like another big hollow one that you run through.
- 26:51Yeah, yeah, absolutely. It totally is.
- 26:53Plotty's Monty wouldn't do CrossFit because she doesn't
- 26:55want to get bulky. She.
- 26:57Doesn't want to be like Tuba. She doesn't.
- 26:58Want to like the boys, man, I'm rolling too.
- 27:04What's the check? The check is a six.
- 27:06Yep. You can never scare me away,
- 27:08Monty. I got a six.
- 27:11Well done. OK Joey, watch this.
- 27:13Momma tells us like trapeze through.
- 27:16The trees. So dainty somehow.
- 27:19You feel like loop a shoelace and just swing the whole thing
- 27:21her. Curls are just like voluptuous
- 27:23slow MO like glittering in the moonlight.
- 27:27We'll. Need a moment?
- 27:28Beller goes. Goody goes just Goody says.
- 27:32Wow, she does this like perfect, like final leap that just like
- 27:36twirls her through the air and she lands just like perfectly
- 27:42Toss toss continues walking right like it's hard.
- 27:46You're you're. Amazing.
- 27:47Amazing. It's Pilates for you.
- 27:49Pilates. What kind of magic is that?
- 27:52You know you find your own magic at Pilates.
- 27:55OK, Tarzan and Jane, you fucking, you don't need to.
- 27:58You quit your shit up there. I'm coming.
- 27:59I'm coming. I got this.
- 28:00I got this all. Right, Joey, what are you doing?
- 28:02What are you using? First of all, I need to clarify
- 28:04that Joey said that because he just felt that Goody and Monty
- 28:07were having a moment and despite his earlier words of giving
- 28:10Goody the go ahead, I'm going for it.
- 28:13He's like, why can't can't make it easy for him?
- 28:14I mean, he does Tarzan and Jane in it up there.
- 28:18Monty is notably keeping her elbows so close to her sides.
- 28:24I think I I haven't done no applicable.
- 28:27I. What would you say?
- 28:29Could I do this with this with do anything I?
- 28:31Don't flamethrower demolition, bro.
- 28:33You get demolitions. I also could see some razzle
- 28:36dazzle pyrotechnic. Oh.
- 28:39Grand finale. Could you like blow up a log
- 28:42that just throw? Could I?
- 28:43Could I explode myself up into the treetops?
- 28:48No, you'll get injured and there's no, no, none of you
- 28:51packed first aid, I don't think. No.
- 28:53Well, you have. A shoelace.
- 28:54Here's the thing you need. Here's the thing my dad told me,
- 28:57and this is a true story. My dad once told me a story
- 29:00about how him and his brother went to the forest, put a bunch
- 29:05of gunpowder inside of a toilet and that toilet flew 30 feet up
- 29:10into the air. And if I can't fly 30 feet up in
- 29:12the air with just a little bit of gunpowder, I I packed a lot.
- 29:15So you don't think I can firework myself up into the
- 29:17trees? Was your dad and his brother
- 29:20sitting on the toilet? Did the toilet survive well?
- 29:23They were watching from 300 feet out.
- 29:25Right, so why do you think that your body will survive if you
- 29:28are the toilet St. Magic.
- 29:31Blow up a tree? Just fall.
- 29:33Goodies like. I'd kick my shoes back off, blow
- 29:38up the tree to fall over all this shit.
- 29:42OK, see can I do that? Yeah.
- 29:45Really. I feel like the lanterns shirt
- 29:46to be so mad. Oh, the Lanterns might be pretty
- 29:49mad about that. OK.
- 29:52That's like confirming that we need to be at this stupid camp.
- 29:55I'm also realizing that that shirt was a don't do it.
- 29:59Oh yeah. You you leave between the lines.
- 30:04I would like. You could do anything.
- 30:08I'd like to con the forest. OK.
- 30:10How are you going to do that? Lantern Dark.
- 30:14Lantern Bright. Won't you be under my control
- 30:19tonight? I I control you Lanterns.
- 30:22I control you all. I'm a magic wizard, and I know
- 30:25that you're magic. And I will say the magic words
- 30:28that control you. Are you ready?
- 30:30Goody leans over to Monty. Monty, he's lost his mind.
- 30:34I'm saying the words. I'm saying the words now.
- 30:36See if it works. Sesame seed.
- 30:42And you thought this would get you through the brambles?
- 30:43How? Magic.
- 30:47Open sesame got you. I made him laugh, I made the
- 30:51forest laugh. And I would like it to let me
- 30:53through and recognize me as as its master.
- 30:55Are you laughing? Yeah, it's a funny joke.
- 30:57As you laugh, Thunder cracks again in the sky.
- 31:01OK, there's like meteor showers that are like yellow and gold
- 31:04and the ground sort of like rumbles.
- 31:06Not that funny, huh? Monty screams.
- 31:08What emotions do you you want from?
- 31:12US. Thank you.
- 31:16So given that I'm trying to con the forest, can I roll for this?
- 31:19Just imagining you just walking straight through everything with
- 31:23your arms out, just thinking you're casting magic.
- 31:25You don't have magic. No, but your forest is magic.
- 31:29I can tell I'm to deal with some funky shit.
- 31:31I'm not trying to be the magic. I'm trying to the forest be the
- 31:34forest is the magic. I'm just asking it.
- 31:37I'm going to let. You roll for Khan to walk around
- 31:39the obstacle you can take take the long route is your version
- 31:44of Khan. Let's see it.
- 31:47At the seven. You walk around around the.
- 31:52Obstacle. And you successfully meet up
- 31:56with Monty and Goody. So you you press on, you
- 32:00navigate the path's obstacles, and you experience the
- 32:02strangeness with every step. Finally, you arrive at a
- 32:06clearing at the end of the path and are greeted by a stretch of
- 32:09grass with a fire pit and chairs on one side, and a cooler full
- 32:13of sandwiches and Gatorade on the other.
- 32:16This. I'm avoiding eye contact with
- 32:18Monty. This is your home sweet home for
- 32:21the night and it's time to set up camp and settle in.
- 32:25We have to. Set it up.
- 32:26What do each of your ideas of helping look like as you get
- 32:29your site set up, and how did the three of you want to spend
- 32:32this unsupervised night under the stars?
- 32:35Monty is just walking around and just like her arms are crossed
- 32:39like right in front of her, not touching anything and just like
- 32:41walking up to the walks over to the tent, walks right into the
- 32:46woods. That's all she's doing.
- 32:49She's just. Joey's just falling behind her,
- 32:52like picking up sticks and twigs and just like, like, honestly
- 32:55doing the good thing of like clearing A campsite right before
- 32:57you get there. But it's all reactionary.
- 32:59Like in the dish. She's displeased.
- 33:02How can I make her happy? Up.
- 33:03Pick up the stick. Pick up this rock.
- 33:04Throw it into the woods. Goody is going to climb some
- 33:07trees and bring the shoelace and make one of those spider web
- 33:11canopy baskets with a bunch of rope that we can lay on above
- 33:15our tents. Oh nice.
- 33:17Yeah, I'm going to spend a long time doing it.
- 33:20OK. OK, good.
- 33:22Sure he's not a spider from another planet?
- 33:24You know, I think that theory is really starting to make a lot of
- 33:27sense. Yeah, you hear me?
- 33:28Like sniff, but it sounds like. So is there only one tent?
- 33:34Yeah, just one tent. One tent for the three of you.
- 33:37Just one, just one tent, OK. And and what was there for food?
- 33:41Sandwiches and Gatorade in a cooler.
- 33:43No peanut butter. Don't eat but they put like
- 33:45drugs or something. Did you guys see the sky change?
- 33:47I would die for some drugs right now.
- 33:50Are you kidding me? Well, you beat the peanut
- 33:52butter. It's probably got LSD in it.
- 33:54You don't eat the peanut butter, you'll die.
- 33:56Have you bumped all of your cocaine?
- 33:57Have. You bumped all of your cocaine?
- 34:01No, of course. Had I sold it to the other
- 34:02campers? I'm a businesswoman.
- 34:05That's that. You know, child endangerment,
- 34:08child endangerment, child endangerment.
- 34:11Okay, it's ready. The bounces up and down on the
- 34:13show. I think it will hold all three
- 34:14of us. Okay, that surprisingly sounds
- 34:18way more fun than a tent. Yeah, I would totally go up to,
- 34:21I think I could do with maybe a little bit of a night above all
- 34:25of this craziness. Would we be like, would that
- 34:27feel a little bit more separated from?
- 34:29I think I, I think Joey's feeling claustrophobic with all
- 34:31of the changing color, the different like atmosphere that
- 34:34just suddenly there's Thunder, suddenly there's river and he
- 34:37just wants predictability. Or yeah, so from a layout
- 34:40perspective, this clearing where your campsite is at the end of
- 34:44the Lantern path, so the lanterns sort of stop being hung
- 34:48in the trees and you've probably got 30 or 40 feet until you get
- 34:51to your campsite. So now wherever Goody has set up
- 34:54this sort of hammock up above you're, you're removed from the
- 34:57focus of the path. You've got some breathing room,
- 35:00both in the tent and in this fun hammock.
- 35:04Looking back on the path, does it look weird at all?
- 35:07No, looks like a Lantern path. Looks like a path with lanterns.
- 35:11OK well I'm honestly feeling pretty spooked so I would.
- 35:14I feel like getting off the ground is like a really good
- 35:16idea right now. Like, what if there's like,
- 35:17bears or something in Iowa? Yeah.
- 35:20And I think there's a way that we could probably put the tent
- 35:22up there if I, if my, if my brain can put this together,
- 35:25right. I mean, at least let's just grab
- 35:27all the stuff out of it, put it on the bedding, and then let's
- 35:29put like a tarp above us. One second, I think I got this.
- 35:32I would like to use demolitions to figure out how to get the
- 35:37tent up there. But what I'm doing is
- 35:39essentially anti demolitions. I'm looking for structural
- 35:42points rather than structural like integral points that sure
- 35:46could collapse. I want to make.
- 35:48I want to strengthen them to make this realistic.
- 35:50I just want to identify 4 points within goodies webbing as like
- 35:55strong anchor points enough that you could foreseeably use
- 35:58tethers to give a tent some shape.
- 36:01Sure. OK.
- 36:01So you're going to use demolitions too?
- 36:03Yes, I'd like to see a six or higher.
- 36:06OK. That's a four.
- 36:09And you use an Exp. No.
- 36:12Dang it. You do have your lunch from this
- 36:15the from before the talent show. I don't know what that might
- 36:17have given you I. Just got I just have a reroll 1
- 36:20roll. I could do I could do for that.
- 36:22You know what? Does it mean Joey throws up his
- 36:24lunch? Oh my God.
- 36:26No, no, we don't have another EpiPen.
- 36:28I can't come back up. Keep that shit down.
- 36:31I think I can, yeah. I think I can feel.
- 36:33What do you call it? I think I can feel the
- 36:35anaphylaxis. Joey, I didn't know you could
- 36:37throat sing. That's just I'm trying to
- 36:40breathe. Oh.
- 36:41My God, so successful just mean I don't.
- 36:43I don't die here. All right?
- 36:45I have a three so far. That's a four on the die, so
- 36:49that's a 7 total. OK so you're successful.
- 36:52I think what will what it will require for you to pull this off
- 36:56is everyone's help including anti camping Monty's.
- 36:59You're going to need 6 hands to get this tent and your sleeping
- 37:03bags and everything tied up the way that you want to.
- 37:06Hey Monty, you ever heard about 3 card Monty?
- 37:10Well, it takes 3 cards to tango, and if you want me to tell you
- 37:14about it, which it was probably named after you because it's the
- 37:16most famous trick that a magician can ever do.
- 37:19I like that say more. But and he goes on to tell I
- 37:23don't know enough about 3 card Monte, but I know that it it
- 37:26holds like a special place in like both conning also
- 37:29magicians, also St. men like it's this weird cross section of
- 37:32appreciation of where it all started.
- 37:34And he actually gives you like a really cool history and rundown
- 37:37like between every and other sentences.
- 37:40And my my dad tells me that like, and my dad would be like
- 37:43and you know, but it's AI think a heartwarming story that he's
- 37:46heard so many times that he's able to tell it without a, you
- 37:48know, without a thought. I think because you're just,
- 37:51like, totally inflating Monty's ego.
- 37:54She's listening to you. And like, I imagine, like,
- 37:56Joey's like, starts handing, like, sleeping bags like while
- 37:59he's talking. And I'm just like, oh, yeah, uh
- 38:01huh. Yeah, there's.
- 38:01The one thing that yeah, someone did it in front of the Queen and
- 38:05the queen. Was queen Exactly.
- 38:06Oh my God I literally feel like royalty.
- 38:09You just see you in frame, then goodies toes coming down and
- 38:12grabbing the stuff in the midway and then handing them off to
- 38:15Joey. Oh my.
- 38:17God, three card Monte, for anyone that doesn't know, is
- 38:19just the classic St. Con where you yeah, so three
- 38:23card Monte is when you you got 3 cards on the on the table.
- 38:26And the The thing is that the game's always rigged.
- 38:28It's it's rigged. Yeah, 'cause the the deal is
- 38:31always using sleight of hand to to steal the queen out before
- 38:34that you can pick it. So that's the that's the thing.
- 38:36You're the queen and nobody will ever get you because I'll always
- 38:41be the one pulling you out. Thanks, Joey.
- 38:43So whatever trouble we get into tonight, we can handle it.
- 38:46Ain't that right, Goody? I mean, I still don't understand
- 38:49how the game works, but it's a cool name.
- 38:51Yeah, yeah, it's good. Yeah, it's a game.
- 38:53Definitely not a way to steal money from it.
- 38:55Isn't passerby and many. Tourists, do you want to play
- 38:58the game later? I have a lot of money in my
- 39:00pocket. I would love to.
- 39:02Cool $20. Find the Queen.
- 39:08Points at Monty. OK, gives the $20 back.
- 39:12That's the first time anyone's. Ever beat me?
- 39:14I like this game. That was cute, but.
- 39:16Yeah, I continue to explain this classic trick as we continue to
- 39:19set up this game. Cool.
- 39:21I would say you guys are successful in sort of setting up
- 39:23your fun crash pad for the night.
- 39:25It probably isn't what counselors had in mind, but I
- 39:28think you've had as much fun with it as you can.
- 39:31The stress of the forest has been alleviated.
- 39:33You've created what feels like a peaceful, comfortable, or as
- 39:36comfortable as possible little bubble, little safe haven above
- 39:39the ground, and you guys sort of hunker in for the night.
- 39:43So what What do you guys discuss?
- 39:45Do you use this time to chat through anything?
- 39:48If you guys don't mind, could I like sleep in the middle?
- 39:52I just, I've never, literally never slept outside before.
- 39:56And I get to sleep inside. I get to sleep up here.
- 39:59We thought this was for you. Yeah.
- 40:01You thought you made this for me.
- 40:04I was going to sleep in the dirt.
- 40:05I was going to sleep up in a branch.
- 40:07You know, at the start of this whole thing I would have let
- 40:11you, but now I'm afraid outside so I need both of you to sleep
- 40:15next to me so I am not afraid and outside.
- 40:19I'll take first watch. I I pull Goody aside and I say
- 40:23she's asking us to bump elbows and I've never done a I've never
- 40:26done a devil's threesome. I'm.
- 40:28Wearing long sleeves. You can't bump elbows and long
- 40:31sleeves. We keep our long sleeves on this
- 40:34one. Pull your sleeves down, please.
- 40:37Okay, we're using protection, so I guess that makes it kind of
- 40:39okay before the eyes of God, so. Loophole.
- 40:42I mean, can we bump knees to elbows or elbows to never mind?
- 40:46Never mind just. Like turn around I.
- 40:52Imagine like. You 2 are the most awkward of
- 40:54energy like like avoiding eye contact immediately spinning
- 40:57away. Imagine you should like we're
- 40:59just like sardines, like all just like laying next to each
- 41:02other. And maybe there's like a noise
- 41:04in the woods or something, like a squirrel or something and like
- 41:08grabs both of your arms and it just like holds.
- 41:11I can't breathe. The webbing kind of like shifts
- 41:14a little bit so that we both roll into and we're just like
- 41:17even more sardined and sandwich like in that in the yeah, the
- 41:20Taco of the hammock. I didn't bring my weighted
- 41:23blanket to camp and this is kind of nice.
- 41:26Yeah, well, my mom says I'm fat, so that was nice to hear
- 41:30something positive about my weight.
- 41:32Joey, do you still have that bomb in your pocket?
- 41:35Oh, I should. Yeah, I should put that.
- 41:37I'll put that with the with the draw with the.
- 41:38So it is a bomb. OK, good to know.
- 41:40Good to know. No, I'd much rather it be a
- 41:42bomb. Well, well, I mean, we'll be
- 41:47friends after this, Monty, if you're OK with my people who
- 41:49aren't normally OK with the bombs.
- 41:51You know, I have a lot of friends from a lot of places in
- 41:56the world, and you're the most intriguing.
- 42:00You guys are here. I'm.
- 42:04Just sitting like this because I'm like holding your elbow.
- 42:06You got Maya across the table, so she said it.
- 42:10I'm. Afraid I'm so skilled.
- 42:14And I, I, I think Joey just kisses a picture of his mother.
- 42:18Good night. As you eventually drift off to
- 42:22dreamland, you can't help but wonder if the lanterns were
- 42:26trying to tell you something. Are they tired?
- 42:29Are they asking for help? After a fitful night of rest,
- 42:33you wake to a purple pre dawn sky and a warm summer breeze
- 42:38through your tent. You know you're due back at camp
- 42:41for breakfast and judging by the rising sun, it's probably time
- 42:44to get moving. Plus you're pretty sure you
- 42:46smell bacon coming from the direction of camp as you pack up
- 42:51your things and step back onto the Lantern path where the
- 42:53lanterns are no longer lit but billow in the breeze on either
- 42:56side of you. Tell me what you're thinking.
- 42:59What are your priorities for today?
- 43:01Monty desperately wants a shower, like a bath, but that's
- 43:06not going to happen. So a shower.
- 43:08I'm surprised that they take us away from camp and then cook
- 43:11delicious smelling bacon. That seems rude.
- 43:14Especially after they like burnt the snacks and stuff when that
- 43:17when that one person and the other person like went off and
- 43:20bumped elbows. Exactly.
- 43:22Right. Honestly, the food here is just
- 43:25sad. Sad.
- 43:27And the fact that they're now making bacon, I think, I don't
- 43:31know, maybe it's a good sign. I mean, I'm hungry too, but the
- 43:34sky last night? And yeah, I don't know if I'm
- 43:37actually ready to go back through all that, like
- 43:39especially if the counsellor left the behind that like.
- 43:42I. Already got things to say to
- 43:44Brock and if I know that he's behind screwing with me with
- 43:48some bland tents like. You think Brock, Mr. Brock, is
- 43:54behind this? He's got like, what, a brain
- 43:56cell? And I don't think he could make
- 43:57like a meteor shower. That's that's that's fair.
- 44:01I hadn't thought about that. Didn't your mom talk to you?
- 44:03Yeah, Well, that I thought that might have been me daydreaming
- 44:07about Lottie. But sorry, that was I said that.
- 44:09Weird. Well, because she looks like
- 44:12your mom, right? They wouldn't Daydream.
- 44:14Right, so you're daydreaming about your mom, which has also
- 44:17made me a little weird. Yeah, once you said it.
- 44:20You're just thinking about your mom.
- 44:22I'm pretty sure it says ma. You're right, Ma.
- 44:26Sorry, I'm still learning the dialect of eastern Iowa.
- 44:31No, don't, Don't worry, I appreciate it.
- 44:32It's a very specific dialect. Yeah, that's that's your
- 44:36dialect, Joey. Well, OK, so I don't think it's
- 44:43Brock. I respect that you think it's
- 44:44Brock, but I did overhear Judd the janitor talking about like
- 44:48setting up the lanterns. Like maybe he has something to
- 44:50do with it. Let me just try something and
- 44:53I'm going to take my shoes off slowly and look at this guy I.
- 44:56Also do want to clarify that I think he's a groundskeeper
- 44:59rather than. I don't.
- 45:02Understand that it's the same thing.
- 45:04Yeah, he like cleans up the like space around, you know, she's
- 45:08like just gestures there's. A mop in a bucket somewhere.
- 45:11Yeah, like he's the hell. Yeah, we also gonna mop the
- 45:14grass. Waves hand gestures to
- 45:16everything wildly. He.
- 45:17Just like cleans. I don't know.
- 45:22Can I can I roll running without shoes?
- 45:25But I'm going to sit still and take my shoes off.
- 45:27OK, what's your goal here? I I want to know if there's a
- 45:30connection between my my shoes and the behaviors that I have as
- 45:34Batty. OK this would freak me the fuck
- 45:36out to see you take your shoes off and not move.
- 45:39I like I just slowly take the shoes off.
- 45:42I think like Monty like flinches and like looks at Joey like.
- 45:45What's he doing? You you're going to use running
- 45:47with no shoes to OK, I'm going to look for a six.
- 45:52It's a six and A2 for an 8. In the light of the morning, you
- 45:57see that the lanterns aren't lit anymore, so very quickly I think
- 46:02you realize that this is just not the time to be testing your
- 46:05hypothesis, unfortunately. I think I miss.
- 46:10I put my shoes back on and I say to Joey really sternly, like he
- 46:13knows what I'm talking about. I think I miss my window.
- 46:16Oh sure, sure buddy. I hey, I pull you aside
- 46:20completely misinterpreted interpreting this as you
- 46:23essentially saying that you need to be Batty to be with Monty.
- 46:29Like thinking that goody isn't enough and I just go off on a
- 46:31speech. Hey buddy, you're you.
- 46:33Goody is good enough. I.
- 46:35Batty, nice of you to say. Batty can do some crazy shit.
- 46:38Oh yeah, yeah, I can. But Batty Batty might not be the
- 46:43best for but might not be the best match for Monty, am I
- 46:45right? Or Monty, Monty, take your heels
- 46:48off. Maybe that'll work.
- 46:51OK, I have to anyways like to climb out of this thing so she
- 46:55like takes her. Louboutins off, Goody looks
- 46:58around, hopefully around the sky.
- 47:00Nothing. Nah, you missed your window too.
- 47:01I don't. Think it's foot stuff related
- 47:03goody. Oh I've missed my window before,
- 47:05it's fine, I can take my meds they'll just keep me up like 5
- 47:08hours longer. I thought that was going to be a
- 47:10sneaking out joke. No.
- 47:12I missed my window before I accidentally climbed into my
- 47:15parents. It was.
- 47:16Really a close call, Monty climbed.
- 47:18I'm out a window. You're right, you're right.
- 47:21Child endangerment. My mom says an extra glass of
- 47:24wine is the same as a mist pill so it's fine.
- 47:27Yeah, yeah, your mom is so right.
- 47:29Patrice tells me that too. Wow.
- 47:31And. Good for heart health, she says.
- 47:33Yeah. A glass a day keeps the doctor
- 47:36away. She says 6 but sure, whatever
- 47:39the. A glass to 6.
- 47:41A day keeps the. Doctor And you know, I'll
- 47:43consider that. I'll let Patrice know.
- 47:44I think she should drink. More yeah, I think it's AI.
- 47:46Think it's a woman thing? I think we all have really good
- 47:49role models. I think it's so too.
- 47:51I'm going to have 6 glasses of wine later.
- 47:55My dad is going to be so excited about this lawsuit.
- 47:58Anyway, so besides the child, the children endangering
- 48:01themselves, it's agreed, right? We go back, we eat Brock's ass,
- 48:06and we figure out what the why he's screwing with the lanterns.
- 48:09He must be the reason why they're not working right?
- 48:11We have to go back. You're right.
- 48:13You know what? We have to make a stand, OK?
- 48:15We have to go back and be like what?
- 48:18What do you want? You know, Like what?
- 48:20That's what I'm saying. We survived.
- 48:22You wanted to like what? Why are we here?
- 48:24Because. That's that's the thing I I I
- 48:26get that we 3 have formed such a bond and as to be magically
- 48:31impervious to the anti magic devilry that's going.
- 48:35On yes. Same more yes, but The thing is
- 48:39there's a lot of kids back there back at camp that I don't think
- 48:43that the path tonight, we're sorry, we're going to be walking
- 48:46the path at some point with the rest of the kids, right, because
- 48:50we're just the first to take the path.
- 48:51We're not the only to. Yeah, you'll definitely learn
- 48:52more about this at breakfast. OK, well.
- 48:55You know that you were the first ones of the summer to walk the.
- 48:58Path cool. I think Joey's just thinking
- 48:59about that and it is very curious to learn more.
- 49:01But because I think he just trails off at that.
- 49:03It's just like, Can you imagine if other people are taking the
- 49:06path and we're magically impervious because of our
- 49:09friendship? I think Joey lost his mind
- 49:11officially. Did you see the fucking multi
- 49:14colored lightning or not kid I? Saw some things but my mother
- 49:18didn't talk to me. I mean, you heard her too.
- 49:22Oh yeah, your mom talked to me. We need to warn them.
- 49:27We need to let them know that they need to stay calm.
- 49:30They need to do breathing exercises.
- 49:31They need to take a little doobie hit.
- 49:33They need to do something to remain calm and not let you know
- 49:37like the camp win you. Know my mom's not normally like
- 49:41this. Right.
- 49:42And like, she couldn't even find the camp if she tried because
- 49:46like, I'm pretty sure they blindfolded us at one point when
- 49:48they drove us in here. I don't think that was legal,
- 49:50but. No, again, child endangerment.
- 49:54So I say we go back. Steal all the bacon.
- 49:57Steal all the bacon. We tell Brock that we're not
- 50:00afraid of him and his stupid paper over 10 years old
- 50:04lanterns. We can also let them know that
- 50:07they need to like, replace some of these because it's kind of a
- 50:09fire hazard if you ask me, child in danger.
- 50:13It's ridiculous. But we do need to let the other
- 50:14campers know that it's like, literally not that scary.
- 50:17Exactly right. Especially if they just like
- 50:19make a spider web made of shoelace and then carry their
- 50:21tent up onto set shoelace with all their belongings and then
- 50:24just sleep. There could we like leave this
- 50:26here? This would be like such a good
- 50:29like selling point for this campsite.
- 50:31I'll go put it back up and use my toes this time just to go a
- 50:37little faster. Oh.
- 50:38My God. I guess breakfast isn't going to
- 50:40make itself or eat itself so we should probably get go back
- 50:44along this path and I think the land is out.
- 50:45OK, I'm done. OK, perfect.
- 50:48I can't wait to have my half piece of bacon that I'm allotted
- 50:51every year. OK.
- 50:54OK, off you guys go on the trail.
- 50:56You arrive back at camp, straight to breakfast.
- 50:59Your noses didn't betray you. You arrived to the cafeteria to
- 51:03see that the breakfast menu does in fact feature bacon overcooked
- 51:07and French toast undercooked. I assume you sit together for
- 51:12this meal. Mm, hmm.
- 51:14Yeah, we have to stay strong. We have to present as like a
- 51:17really solid unit. So campers crowd around you
- 51:20almost immediately to ask you about your night.
- 51:22Were the lanterns scary or like totally awesome?
- 51:25Did you stay up all night long? Did you in fact come back as a
- 51:28straight edge and ditch your trouble making ways?
- 51:30What do you guys tell campers as they pepper you with questions
- 51:33about your night? Well, here The thing is, I've
- 51:36always been a straight edge. Friends, let me let me let me
- 51:39tell you about the the fact that I'm the most honest man that
- 51:41you'll ever meet, and my favorite game is 3 card Monte.
- 51:45Here's $20 here. Watch guys.
- 51:47Watch and we we play out three card Monte, you know, and I
- 51:52don't do the sleight of hand trick and you get you I give you
- 51:55another $20 and I'm just like look how easy the game is.
- 51:58So $40.00. So I learned on the path that as
- 52:02long as you're honest, things will work out for you, just like
- 52:04my friend goody here. Anyone want to play?
- 52:07This game was named after me, by the way, just if you're.
- 52:11Wondering, I think. I think I'd take a subsection of
- 52:13kids and start playing along with them.
- 52:15And I mean about the path, it was just some weird stuff
- 52:19happened, but I don't feel any different.
- 52:22No, yeah, Speaking of honesty, like, where was the honesty like
- 52:25before all this? Monty stands up on the breakfast
- 52:28table. Gather round everybody, gather
- 52:31round. I'm going to shed some truth on
- 52:34y'all. Brock interrupts you and jumps
- 52:36up on his own table once again to share some morning
- 52:40announcements. Oh, Monty.
- 52:42Polls. PAC goes to the house.
- 52:43As soon as it's on the table, PAC goes to the house.
- 52:45Sorry friend. Monty just like harrumps, but
- 52:51like doesn't get off the table, but just like stands, their arms
- 52:54crossed, hip Chuck to one side. Oh my God, what a brat.
- 52:57I love it. Carry on, say what you're going
- 53:00to say, Brock says. Sub campers, despite your
- 53:05attempts to humiliate me yesterday, I'm using it as a
- 53:08teaching moment to show you that your troublemaking tendencies
- 53:11bounce right off me. In fact, I doubled down.
- 53:16He does the most cringe worthy like bodybuilder flex of all
- 53:19time to show off his calf tattoo of Lottie's face and then he
- 53:22switches position so you can see his other calf which now oozes
- 53:26and features an inflamed block letter spelling of Lottie's
- 53:29name. I I told you in the 1st place
- 53:33that that did not honor Lottie's good name and even better face
- 53:39Monty. Tell him or I'm going to kill
- 53:40him. While they're talking, I'm going
- 53:42to tie Brock's shoelaces together.
- 53:44I love that. Did you do it yourself?
- 53:47Did you ask one of the campers to do it?
- 53:49Like look. I may not be rich in money, this
- 53:53camp pays like shit, but I am rich in love.
- 53:58Anyway, today's itinerary looks like a full day by the lake
- 54:01where we can keep an eye on you till tonight's ceremonial
- 54:04Lantern Path Luau on the beach. At the end of the luau, you'll
- 54:09all get your chance to finally experience the magic of the path
- 54:13for the very first time. And then he nods toward your
- 54:16table where you guys are, and he addresses you when he says
- 54:19except for you guys. How was it?
- 54:21You know what, forget I asked. You wouldn't want to spoil this
- 54:23epic experience for your fellow campers, would you?
- 54:26Yes. Brock yammers on.
- 54:28But your ears perk up as all three of you hear and see Lottie
- 54:32open a side door and slink into the cafeteria, late and sporting
- 54:37a hoodie despite the sweltering summer heat and a muggy
- 54:41cafeteria. But Brock continues to yap about
- 54:44the schedule. You understand that today is for
- 54:46soaking up the sunshine and enjoying what sounds like a true
- 54:49summer camp experience before tonight's Lantern path ceremony.
- 54:52Once you've been dismissed, you stop by your cabin to collect
- 54:55your beach bags and shower off the night's grime.
- 54:58I'm sure Monty is very happy. Is there any much exfoliant?
- 55:02Is there anything else you guys do before setting off towards
- 55:05the beach to make it there in time for attendance?
- 55:07Goody doesn't shower. Monty is putting on baked tan
- 55:13and actually we'll ask Joey, like Joey, can you get like the
- 55:15center of my back here? Put this like little mitten on.
- 55:17Try not to get it on your skin. Yeah, sure.
- 55:20I can help out with whatever you're doing.
- 55:21Sure. Yeah, it's just kind of like,
- 55:23you know, like I'm assuming you've put lotion on your mom's
- 55:25back. Oh well.
- 55:26Clockwise or counterclockwise? My mom yells at me if I go
- 55:28counter. Yeah, Yeah.
- 55:29Clockwise is better, OK. Really.
- 55:31OK, yeah, she's so right about that.
- 55:36I actually always do clockwise. Whispers.
- 55:39Whispers to himself. And you.
- 55:41You're the love of my life. Because unlike your mother.
- 55:47You know what they say. We should have stole the bacon.
- 55:50There's still time. I think we should go back
- 55:52because Lottie was looking SUS. Who wears A sweatshirt during
- 55:56the summer? She must have been so warm.
- 55:58Why did she do that? I would like to read between the
- 56:01lines on what the whole Lottie and the hoodie thing was.
- 56:04OK, so finish my finish the spot in my back.
- 56:06Please make sure there's no blotches.
- 56:08OK, well, can you just help me out?
- 56:09What did you see? And as I think we do this little
- 56:13lotion exercise, is she helping me with this?
- 56:15Yeah. Oh yeah, you can get plus one
- 56:16for help. Oh.
- 56:18Yeah, it's self Tanner, Joey. That's between Oh, my hands.
- 56:24So you're rolling read between the lines three.
- 56:27I'm going to put the check. At 12, OK, that is just 10 total
- 56:33even with help. Could I like retro roll
- 56:36surveillance? Yeah, yeah.
- 56:37I did kind of rush you guys through that.
- 56:39I can't make heads or tails of it, but maybe if you saw
- 56:42something more than I did. You're right.
- 56:44Let me goody. Can you do that singing again?
- 56:48Oh. Shit, A4.
- 56:54Yeah, unfortunately, you're having trouble remembering, but
- 56:56maybe that means you feel like you're going to have to spend
- 56:58some of your time today reinvestigating what's going on
- 57:01with Lottie, OK. If we got a little bit of time
- 57:03before the beach. We should swing by the
- 57:05cafeteria. Maybe I don't shower, maybe I
- 57:08just maybe I take a bath. Maybe I take a bath in the leak
- 57:11later that's. What I was thinking, why would
- 57:13you shower if we're going to get in water later, right?
- 57:15Yeah, Anyways, let's go. Maybe we do a little bit of
- 57:17espionage. I don't, I don't peek on a lady
- 57:20in the in the lavatory. So I'm not going to go look at
- 57:22Lottie, if you know what I mean. So I'm definitely going to go
- 57:25check out Brock and see what he's doing.
- 57:26OK. Do you want me to go after
- 57:28Lottie? I mean, it might, might make
- 57:29sense for us to figure out as much as we can, OK.
- 57:32What do I? What do I do?
- 57:34Hey my friend. Hello, I just want to hear what
- 57:39you. Say, yeah, what are you going to
- 57:41do? My friend, I have a big puzzle
- 57:45for you to work on and I pull Goody aside and I think I'm
- 57:49going to fully off screen this moment and we'll figure it out
- 57:52later. I think Goody, while we're
- 57:55getting ready, is going to kind of be a little on edge from the
- 58:00experience last night and is going to take a trick out of
- 58:04Joey's book and he's going to holster a couple hair sprays and
- 58:09I'm going to have a lighter in a pocket that I found under a bed
- 58:13while I was knocking things around.
- 58:15I have another roll of shoelace and I'm going to put it on my
- 58:17back and then I'm going to put like a flashlight helmet on and
- 58:20keep it on all day and I am going to go to the cafeteria and
- 58:24steal all the fucking bacon. Oh.
- 58:26Hell. Yeah.
- 58:28You just I love how goody with like going from tree to tree
- 58:31felt like obstacle course kid. And now this feels like I'm
- 58:34gearing up and whatever, like I'm gearing up.
- 58:36There's definitely a montage. Yeah, you got a.
- 58:40Tool belt, yeah. You're flipping the cans.
- 58:43You're sliding. Them in those perfect pockets.
- 58:45Yeah, Belt. Cinch.
- 58:46I take my shoes off and I tie the laces together and flip them
- 58:49like nunchucks and I put them in my side.
- 58:51OK, so it sounds we have Monty headed to the cafeteria to look
- 58:56for Lottie. Yeah, 'cause that's where we saw
- 58:58her last. Yeah, well, let's just see if
- 59:01she's there 'cause she went in through the kitchen.
- 59:04She came in like through a side door of the cafeteria.
- 59:06Yeah, Joey headed to. Wherever Brock is.
- 59:10OK, Probably down by the lake waiting for campers to get there
- 59:12because you know that they're taking attendance in like 15
- 59:15minutes. I got to go show up early to get
- 59:18that fine, I guess I'll do it. We have to show them that we
- 59:22aren't meant to be here, Joey. This camp is not for us.
- 59:25Once more, I am very much meant to be here.
- 59:28I very much deserve it. I heard a lot of innocent.
- 59:30People, but there might be bears chasing you.
- 59:32That's OK. And then go to you, also to the
- 59:35cafeteria, but for bacon. Yeah.
- 59:37And I think as Monty and I are walking, Monty's walking
- 59:40regularly to the cafeteria and I'm like sneaking from tree to
- 59:43tree and like, OK. Perfect.
- 59:46Just up in your little like crab toes.
- 59:52Disturbing. It's.
- 59:53Crab walking down my toes from tree to tree.
- 59:56You can see like you like walking with.
- 59:58Your toes, toe to toe. Yeah, centipede style, Yeah.
- 1:00:10Oh God, I I whisper at a Monty. Do you think Joey's going to
- 1:00:12beat up Brock? I hope so.
- 1:00:14That man could use a punch to the face.
- 1:00:16I don't like either of his tattoos.
- 1:00:18OK, who are we going to follow first?
- 1:00:20I think maybe we stick with Goody and Monty as they head
- 1:00:25back to the cafeteria. Do a quick 180.
- 1:00:27Sure, looking for Lottie and lot of bacon.
- 1:00:34OK, cool, Lottie and the lottery.
- 1:00:36The sneaking continues as if we're getting near the cafeteria
- 1:00:38to like, like, pop open the door, like sneak in, sneak in.
- 1:00:44OK, OK. You guys are shy.
- 1:00:52She's late as a feather, so you guys are sticking together.
- 1:00:55I think I'm on the ceiling gripping with my toes by.
- 1:01:00Your peak by. Tell Rob you couldn't do magic,
- 1:01:02but I'll let you grip your ceiling with your toes.
- 1:01:05I'm also using my hands a little.
- 1:01:08He's got alien biology. Not magic.
- 1:01:12Alien. Biology.
- 1:01:14Bob canonically cannot be here and I'm an alien.
- 1:01:18OK, Monty and Goody, you guys walk into the door of the
- 1:01:21cafeteria that I think you usually would use to enter and
- 1:01:24you see that the like the lights are off in the main area where
- 1:01:27the tables are, but back in the kitchen and the prep area, the
- 1:01:30lights are still on. You hear someone maybe doing
- 1:01:32dishes, cleaning up, period. OK, Monty, I think will like
- 1:01:37walk straight up to the kitchen like goody, you just like do
- 1:01:41whatever you need to do or whatever.
- 1:01:43Like I'll maybe distract who's ever back there.
- 1:01:46Hello. Oh, excuse me.
- 1:01:48Excuse me. Hello.
- 1:01:50I was gonna ask you to make a distraction.
- 1:01:52Perfect. Then I'm gonna try to slink in
- 1:01:53whatever. Like open.
- 1:01:54I'm imagining like those open. No.
- 1:01:57Windowless. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:01:58What you have in mind? Yeah, I try to sneak in through
- 1:02:01the like ceiling part and get in there, look for the cooler.
- 1:02:04Yeah, absolutely. Hello.
- 1:02:06Hi, who's there? Just the way I wish people could
- 1:02:12see the way you look. Maya is totally method acting
- 1:02:15this whole time like the cat here on my face I pulled.
- 1:02:18Off who's there examined it in front of my.
- 1:02:22Face, she couldn't give a. Hell, I was brushed by she.
- 1:02:25Owns this camp by now she's like the lawsuit is filed that's mine
- 1:02:29it's. Literally so out of my he's my
- 1:02:31property. Who's there?
- 1:02:34Shouldn't I be asking you that? Who are you?
- 1:02:37It's Monty Stera, the one that's like, you know, kind of bringing
- 1:02:40a claim down on all your asses. I don't know anything about
- 1:02:43that. Lottie comes out from like
- 1:02:45around the. Cooler Lottie, is that you?
- 1:02:49Yeah, What do you want? Why are you here?
- 1:02:50You're supposed to be at the lake.
- 1:02:52Well, I was just like, I like saw you earlier and like you
- 1:02:55were wearing a sweatshirt and I was just like really wondering
- 1:02:58like, are you feeling sick or something?
- 1:03:00Because like, that's the only way I could think about someone
- 1:03:03wearing a sweatshirt in this type of heat.
- 1:03:06No, I'm not sick. It's honestly none of your
- 1:03:07business. She's goes about like cleaning
- 1:03:10up the kitchen. She keeps moving stuff around.
- 1:03:12OK, it's like not much of A girl's girl.
- 1:03:14Get it? I totally saw Brock's like new
- 1:03:17tattoo. Like how do you feel about that?
- 1:03:19I love it. What's not to love?
- 1:03:22It's like, so flattering. Flat for him or for you for the.
- 1:03:29Both of us. And if you must know, she rolls
- 1:03:32up her sleeve to show you that her forearm now sports a very
- 1:03:37large traditional style tattoo of a heart with a Brock banner
- 1:03:40across it. Audible gas from the ceiling.
- 1:03:46Sorry God, the dust in here is just disgusting.
- 1:03:49So is that why you're wearing a sweatshirt to cover up your new
- 1:03:54digs? Yeah, obviously.
- 1:03:56And I really would appreciate it if you didn't tell anyone.
- 1:03:59But I know you have some sort of influence here around camp
- 1:04:02because of daddy's money or something, and I would just
- 1:04:05really appreciate if you didn't tell anyone.
- 1:04:07It's less about like my dad's money that creates the influence
- 1:04:10and more like what I do with the money that creates the
- 1:04:13influence. But you know, it's OK.
- 1:04:15It's a common misunderstanding. So I am a girl's girl.
- 1:04:20If you want to learn anything from me, it would be that I, for
- 1:04:24the right price, will keep my mouth shut.
- 1:04:30Climbing into the bacon cooler. Oh my God, goody roll for toe
- 1:04:37grip. Nice.
- 1:04:39Toe grip 3. I want to see a 12.
- 1:04:43That is a 13. You don't fall, OK, Monty.
- 1:04:50Lottie looks at you shocked. Don't look at me like I just
- 1:04:54offered to like, kill your best friend or something.
- 1:05:00What were you gonna say? I.
- 1:05:03Know I really appreciated the. Space to think about it.
- 1:05:05Perfect. Well, I could offer to kill your
- 1:05:08best friend like if that would make this easier for you.
- 1:05:11God, what are you talking about? I.
- 1:05:13Don't know, you're giving me a weird look.
- 1:05:15I'm just trying to suss out the vibe.
- 1:05:16She takes her, she was like sort of distracted on her phone and
- 1:05:19she like puts it down, puts it away.
- 1:05:21And you can tell she's just like her eyes are darting around.
- 1:05:24She's nervous. You've put her on edge.
- 1:05:26She thought that her honesty here would be the girls, girls
- 1:05:31way of encouraging you to keep your mouth shut.
- 1:05:34Instead, she unzips her little stupid Fanny pack and pulls out.
- 1:05:40Well, why don't you surveil? Yeah, I.
- 1:05:42Was going to say, you want me to roll first surveillance?
- 1:05:44Or something appraisal I. This.
- 1:05:48Feels more like surveillance 3 and I would love to see a 10.
- 1:05:52That's about half the bacon. OK, I didn't really have a
- 1:05:55backpack. That is a 11.
- 1:05:58Nice. OK, so she pulls out a couple of
- 1:06:0020s from her Fanny pack, but you see that she pulls them out of
- 1:06:04like a fat stack of cash. Like a wad of cash.
- 1:06:11OK, so you're shorting like 60 bucks to you 60 bucks.
- 1:06:21This is so cute. I will take this I.
- 1:06:27As as GM in this moment, feel embarrassed Sia's face is
- 1:06:34influential. In this room she.
- 1:06:35Does this so? Well, taste is.
- 1:06:37Killing me. She's so good at this.
- 1:06:40So I will take the $60.00 and and because look at me $60.00.
- 1:06:48What's going to buy my bus ride home from the dump anyway?
- 1:06:53Fuck. Just like stalling, I'm going to
- 1:06:56need extra information. I need to know what is up with
- 1:07:00those stupid lanterns. They are stupid, aren't they?
- 1:07:03Yes. Oh my God, I know.
- 1:07:04It's like, So what? I got like a little bit scared
- 1:07:07at one point and they like started flickering and like
- 1:07:09thundering and oh. My God, they're still doing
- 1:07:11that? That's the thing.
- 1:07:13I can't believe. It So how do they work?
- 1:07:14What was the deal? I don't know.
- 1:07:17Monty like tilts her head and she's like I.
- 1:07:20Don't know, they're just like crappy lanterns.
- 1:07:23Well. That's easy to tell just from
- 1:07:24looking at them, but like, who turns them on?
- 1:07:27How do they turn on? Like are they solar powered?
- 1:07:30They're like on a. Timer or something, I don't
- 1:07:31know. They only come out at night.
- 1:07:33But there wasn't like a wire or anything or like solar panels
- 1:07:37like am I an? Electrical engineer?
- 1:07:38I don't know, like ask Judd or. Something.
- 1:07:40Maybe he knows why. Would I ask Judd?
- 1:07:42I don't care how the lanterns work.
- 1:07:43I care how the lanterns work. You asked Judd then.
- 1:07:45Well, cuz I don't think Judd will tell me because I don't
- 1:07:48work. Here, you know what?
- 1:07:49I don't have to tell you anything.
- 1:07:51Yes, you do, because. Attendance at the beach.
- 1:07:52I have a secret of yours and $60.00 and that's not enough and
- 1:07:57I need to know what is going on with these lanterns.
- 1:08:00You really know nothing. I told you I they're old shitty
- 1:08:04lanterns. And so the whole point is to
- 1:08:06like send us down this deep dark path and hope that we like find
- 1:08:09ourselves in the woods. They.
- 1:08:10Make you feel good, don't they? No, none of this made me.
- 1:08:14No, none of this experience has made me feel good at all.
- 1:08:17Actually, she's like looking over Lottie's shoulder to see
- 1:08:20like how far goody is along I. Have like 5 packs of bacon that
- 1:08:25are like oversized in my arms and I'm trying to like toe grip
- 1:08:28my way. Did you go for the cooked bacon
- 1:08:30or the raw bacon in the fridge? The raw bacon.
- 1:08:32And now I'm going for the cook. Now I'm going for the cooked.
- 1:08:34Bacon. OK, we've got snacks.
- 1:08:36The nows and the laters. Like I have all this raw bacon,
- 1:08:40but I'm like and I'm on my way out.
- 1:08:41I'm like, oh, wait, and I go down to like this.
- 1:08:44A couple band put them in my. Mouth give me another check yeah
- 1:08:46sure, give me toe grip 3. Can I give them a help?
- 1:08:49Because I'm distracting, yeah. I want to see a 10.
- 1:08:53That's a 10, hey. Plus 1/11.
- 1:08:56Perfect, you got. As much bacon as you could
- 1:08:58possibly enjoy or need. I have a bunch in my mouth and a
- 1:09:01bunch in my arms and I have a bunch of my pockets and every,
- 1:09:05every I was going to say orifice.
- 1:09:07So every pocket I have is stuffed full of bacon.
- 1:09:12And I look at Monti and I just like give her like an eyebrow of
- 1:09:15mission accomplished. I start backing out of the room.
- 1:09:21OK, Lottie, clearly you don't care or don't have clearance to
- 1:09:25the information that I need. Your phone again.
- 1:09:28What is more important than talking to me?
- 1:09:30Honestly, I'm a business woman. I knew what you of all people.
- 1:09:33Would understand that. I do.
- 1:09:34If you tell me what you do for business, it's.
- 1:09:37None of your business. Well, if I could give you some
- 1:09:42advice for free, by the way, you might want to consider that the
- 1:09:49tattoo on Brock's calf of the face like might have been a
- 1:09:52different woman before it was you.
- 1:09:53All right, Have such a good day. I'll see you at the beach.
- 1:09:57Her jaw just like drops to the floor and she gives you this
- 1:10:01dirty look as if she could never have possibly imagined that that
- 1:10:05could be true. But now she.
- 1:10:07Realizes that it very well could.
- 1:10:10Like I can tell you haven't gotten a nose job, but that
- 1:10:13tattoo, that's all I'm going to say.
- 1:10:18She just walks out. Yeah, she, like Lottie, to save
- 1:10:22face, sort of pretends like she ushered you out, like get get to
- 1:10:25the beach. You're going to be late.
- 1:10:26I'll write you up and she sends you on your way.
- 1:10:30My gosh, the. Cafeteria.
- 1:10:32When you walk out you just see a Batty running with so much
- 1:10:38bacon. That's like flying off behind.
- 1:10:40You. That's what I call a con, yeah.
- 1:10:43Perfect. So I assume you guys will
- 1:10:45eventually link up and head toward the beach?
- 1:10:47Yeah, okay, cool. Let's check back in with Joey.
- 1:10:51How are things going once you leave the cabin?
- 1:10:53Well, I think I'm headed straight for the beach.
- 1:10:54Wherever Brock is, if he's there, that's where I'm going.
- 1:10:57You're beelining it for the beach.
- 1:10:58You get there and you see like a couple of the more nerdy
- 1:11:01straight edge type campers. Despite their troublemaking,
- 1:11:04they've already arrived to the beach.
- 1:11:06You see Brock there with his clipboard ready to take
- 1:11:08attendance. He also seems distracted.
- 1:11:12He's nursing his new calf tattoo.
- 1:11:14I think I also keep an eye out for for Judd, the groundskeeper,
- 1:11:17if he's around. Is he around at all?
- 1:11:19Yeah, why don't you roll 4 between the lines?
- 1:11:23Or I just I'm, I'm in, I'm trying to take in the situation.
- 1:11:25I really just want to know what to follow up on.
- 1:11:28And if my instinct is Brock, that's great.
- 1:11:30And if if Joey's just like bullheaded, not paying attention
- 1:11:33to what something he should be paying attention to, I want to
- 1:11:35know. So between the lines, what do
- 1:11:37you want from me? You have between the lines
- 1:11:39three. I want to see a 10.
- 1:11:41OK, here's a here's a between the lines and that's a ten baby.
- 1:11:45Exactly 10 exactly. 10. Sweet.
- 1:11:48OK, So what you're seeing is a very distracted Brock.
- 1:11:52And by that I mean he's standing there with his clipboard taking
- 1:11:55attendance. He's also checking his phone.
- 1:11:57He's also radioing someone on his walkie-talkie.
- 1:12:00You take a moment to like, really look around camp, see if
- 1:12:03you can hear where his walkie talkies are being sent, see if
- 1:12:07you can eavesdrop on him. And you hear what sounds like
- 1:12:10other walkie-talkie static across the grounds.
- 1:12:14So you're looking around towards the cabins, away from the beach,
- 1:12:16on other areas of the camp. And you do see in his little
- 1:12:20bobcat Judd hauling some stuff around camp.
- 1:12:24OK, OK. With my Between the Lines, do I
- 1:12:27have an instinct about who would give me more information, this
- 1:12:30like very personal quest I feel towards Brock or does Judd have
- 1:12:34any sort of extra information that I could glean from him, I
- 1:12:37think. Due to proximity, you feel
- 1:12:40probably most inclined to investigate Brock.
- 1:12:43He's doing a lot. Cool.
- 1:12:45Yeah, I think the fact that Judd's just kind of going about
- 1:12:48his stuff and Brock seems frantic, for lack of a better
- 1:12:53word. I'm going to just look a little
- 1:12:55bit deeper into that franticness.
- 1:12:57I'm also going to try to get closer to the beach without him
- 1:13:01spotting me because I would like to get an idea of what he's
- 1:13:04actually exactly wondering and worrying about.
- 1:13:06Sure. It's going to be tough because
- 1:13:08his job here is to take attendance, so he's like on the
- 1:13:11lookout for students so that he can mark them as absent to make
- 1:13:13sure that he doesn't have to send anybody out looking for
- 1:13:15them. But you still have a few
- 1:13:17minutes. Before you're due to the.
- 1:13:18Beach. So you're going to post up
- 1:13:20somewhere and sort of take a look and keep eyes on him?
- 1:13:23Yes, I think so. OK, let's see another role.
- 1:13:25OK, what? Do you want to use?
- 1:13:27I think I would like to use Razzle Dazzle pyrotechnics grand
- 1:13:32finale by making not like a huge explosion, but one that like the
- 1:13:38distraction of a firecracker from the opposite end of the
- 1:13:41beach that I'm trying to sneak towards, throwing his attention
- 1:13:43one way so that I can find any amount of cover a little bit
- 1:13:47nearer. Sure, cool, you have razzle
- 1:13:49dazzle pyrotechnics. Grand Finale 3 Let's see a 8.
- 1:13:54Awesome. Oh, that is two sixes and a
- 1:13:59three for 15. Now I'm going to use three
- 1:14:03experience points to level this skill up.
- 1:14:06So what does? Oh my God.
- 1:14:08What do you think razzle dazzle pirate Texas grand finale
- 1:14:12becomes with it in mind that I'm trying to distract?
- 1:14:15I guess that's. A great question.
- 1:14:18I keep just to add like supreme to it.
- 1:14:22I keep thinking of the Wizard of Ox.
- 1:14:23Like Supreme Deluxe? Circus.
- 1:14:27The delusions of grandeur, you could call it.
- 1:14:32Look the other way. Cool, I like that misdirection.
- 1:14:35I love. Misdirection is fun.
- 1:14:37I love misdirection and I love look the other way.
- 1:14:39Which would you prefer? It's up to you, OK?
- 1:14:40Cool misdirection, full pre. Misdirection Deluxe.
- 1:14:48Oh, maybe because I feel like I'm just adding that.
- 1:14:50I feel like I'm adding con and razzle dazzle into the same
- 1:14:53thing so that that feels like a good.
- 1:14:55Yeah, I think that's great. Misdirection.
- 1:14:57Awesome. Or what?
- 1:14:58A feat. OK, so it sounds like you're
- 1:15:01attempting to blow off a little firecracker as a distraction for
- 1:15:04Brock and you sort of want to observe his reaction, correct?
- 1:15:07What is your firecracker sound like?
- 1:15:10Where do you place it? How approximately how far away
- 1:15:12are you placing it? Imagine a very unassuming walk
- 1:15:17where if you weren't looking at Joey with a discerning eye, you
- 1:15:21wouldn't notice the singular firecrackers that kind of pop
- 1:15:25out of his sleeve as he makes his way towards the beach along
- 1:15:29all these different parts of the path.
- 1:15:31And they're all different sizes. And the way that it, it sounds
- 1:15:37like the pitter patter of a chase, like it sounds like a
- 1:15:41group of kids running it. It's actually you could.
- 1:15:44You could mistake it for a a Stampede of kids.
- 1:15:47But because you're walking so leisurely, no one thinks to look
- 1:15:50in that direction. Yes.
- 1:15:51And no one thinks to look. So it's really a series of minor
- 1:15:55explosions set off along a pathway that makes it sound
- 1:15:58like, again, a Stampede of kids is is headed that way.
- 1:16:02That's really, really great. OK, so Brock was already on
- 1:16:04Edge. He looks up.
- 1:16:06And to be clear, I'm trying to make it seem as if like all the
- 1:16:09kids are coming to the beach early, like he is being caught
- 1:16:13off guard by a massive amount of people.
- 1:16:15Time to do his job, Yes. OK, so if it really sounds like
- 1:16:19a Stampede of feet, I would say Brock is like sitting at a
- 1:16:21picnic table with his back towards where this path might
- 1:16:24be. So he's like on his phone on
- 1:16:27Milwaukee taking attendance. He hears this and sort of gets
- 1:16:31annoyed, rolls his eyes, gives a big sigh, like, I have to
- 1:16:35actually do my job. Instead of students trickling in
- 1:16:38me taking attendance one at a time, I should stand up and
- 1:16:40like, welcome everyone to the beach.
- 1:16:42And now I have to like put on my A game and actually check people
- 1:16:45off the list. I'm mainly curious because he
- 1:16:47was acting frantic before. I wasn't sure if he might like
- 1:16:50go to hide something before all the kids showed up or if he was.
- 1:16:53I'm curious if there was any sort of business that he was
- 1:16:56trying to take a take care of before everyone got here.
- 1:16:58So here's what he does. He stands up and he turns around
- 1:17:00and he looks really, really confused.
- 1:17:03He picks up his walkie-talkie and he like says something into
- 1:17:06it. You overhear something like you
- 1:17:08can't make it all out. You hear him say words like the
- 1:17:10package and double check. He looks back around, sees that
- 1:17:15oh, there was no giant herd of kids approaching, and decides to
- 1:17:19go walk around the table towards the shed.
- 1:17:21He opens the shed and he looks inside like he's checking on
- 1:17:24something. Closes the shed back up, sits
- 1:17:27back down at the table. Interesting.
- 1:17:29OK, is the shed in the line of sight or can I readily sneak
- 1:17:32over to the shed while he's not looking away?
- 1:17:34Yeah, you can see it. You could.
- 1:17:35You could sneak over to it for sure.
- 1:17:37I would like to go look in the shed.
- 1:17:38OK, sweet. I'm hoping that because he said
- 1:17:41something about on the walkie about a package being secured.
- 1:17:44You heard package and you heard double check.
- 1:17:46Double check. OK, gotcha.
- 1:17:47So he assumedly went to check on something in the shed.
- 1:17:50I'm going to go check on that shed and see what Brock was
- 1:17:52looking for. Yes, this is all working out.
- 1:17:54It sure is. You also see Judd rolling over
- 1:17:57in his bobcat headed your way. I think this is probably also
- 1:18:02about the time that Monty and Goody would be strolling up
- 1:18:04towards the beach, so we might have sort of a collision of
- 1:18:07things happening. Oh boy, OK, do I get to the shed
- 1:18:10before? Because I would like to get to
- 1:18:11the shed without anyone seeing me.
- 1:18:13You do make it to the shed first.
- 1:18:14Do you want to open it up and check inside?
- 1:18:17I would like to get an idea. As I gesture I think I make a
- 1:18:21wave to Monty and Goody down the path and I like give a nod to
- 1:18:25them and sneak into the shed. It's perfect timing.
- 1:18:28I think they would probably pick up on the fact that you were
- 1:18:31sleuthing around and maybe head over to Brock to check in for
- 1:18:34attendance. Does that sound right?
- 1:18:36Yeah, I think I've hidden the raw bacon, but I've still got a
- 1:18:38lot of the the cooked bacon. There's like the seagulls are
- 1:18:42descending, There's like a raccoon peeking out from the
- 1:18:45forest. You've got the attention of
- 1:18:47critters. Rock is like sniffing a little
- 1:18:49bit, like what is happening on this beach.
- 1:18:52I haven't showered and I'm covered in bacon crease.
- 1:18:54I mouth the words come before me, but then I also mouth the
- 1:18:58words. Save me a piece.
- 1:19:02Perfect. OK, Joey, you open the door and
- 1:19:04you see two big boxes bigger than a microwave.
- 1:19:11Pretty big boxes. Smaller than a garden shed.
- 1:19:12Smaller than a garden shed. You're in a small garden shed
- 1:19:16near the water sports equipment and you see two large boxes.
- 1:19:21They're crates. What do you do?
- 1:19:23I open them. OK, so you open the boxes and
- 1:19:26you find in one a big stack of brand new life vests.
- 1:19:31Tag still on them and the other one you find a big box of like
- 1:19:35unused perfect condition yard games.
- 1:19:38You're seeing a lot of things that would make camp a whole lot
- 1:19:41more fun. So far been no yard games at
- 1:19:44camp. The life jackets for water
- 1:19:47sports look worse for wear, but these things are all sparkly and
- 1:19:51new. On top of the boxes there's post
- 1:19:54it notes, one that says Alex and one that says Richard.
- 1:19:59OK, so couple of people I don't even know never heard of and a
- 1:20:03bunch of really nice stuff. The mystery thickens.
- 1:20:07You start to hear Judd's bobcat rolling up.
- 1:20:10Well, I don't have time to think about this, so I got to brain
- 1:20:13blast it. OK, let's do this brain.
- 1:20:16Just you and me and ya, there's no one.
- 1:20:18Just don't worry. Don't don't be nervous.
- 1:20:20No, you can do it. You do it every time.
- 1:20:22No, you no. Ready.
- 1:20:23Here we go. 123 idea ain't that didn't work so.
- 1:20:32You're here outside the shed, goody running in front of the
- 1:20:35bobcat and say you want some bacon.
- 1:20:37You want some bacon? I'm cracking the code one second
- 1:20:41no. I'm talking to this janitor.
- 1:20:43Oh. Yes, that's good it.
- 1:20:46Just bangs on the shed. Can I roll for between the lines
- 1:20:50to try to put the other? What?
- 1:20:53Like, why? Like, why are they holding back
- 1:20:55the good stuff? Why is it labeled for two people
- 1:20:58that we've never heard of? Yeah.
- 1:20:59OK, roll read between the lines Three.
- 1:21:01I'm going to look for a 10. That is a 13.
- 1:21:06Nice. You remember a few things you
- 1:21:10remember this morning, Brock said.
- 1:21:14This camp pays like shit. I remember.
- 1:21:17And at the same time, you hear a little a notification go off on
- 1:21:22Brock's phone. What does it sound like?
- 1:21:23That sounds familiar. It's not.
- 1:21:26It's not Grinder. It's not Snapchat.
- 1:21:28Is that Facebook Messenger? This this fuck is marketplacing
- 1:21:33it. He's pulling an old Facebook
- 1:21:35marketplace con. One of the oldest cons in the
- 1:21:37book. Joey, I could barely hear you.
- 1:21:40Are you talking to me? No, I'm I'm having a monologue
- 1:21:42moment. The goody got quiet.
- 1:21:45Brock, if you had to pick your favorite waters for what would
- 1:21:49it be? And Are you sure?
- 1:21:51You don't want some bacon, I mean.
- 1:21:52Hey, what are you kids doing? Get out of my shed.
- 1:21:55I'm here to pick up some boxes. I just figured you didn't get
- 1:21:58enough bacon, so I just wanted to make sure that you had bacon.
- 1:22:00Oh. We get a full spread over in the
- 1:22:02administrator's cabin. But there's barely any for
- 1:22:05anybody else. There was plenty.
- 1:22:07Look at all the stuff that you have.
- 1:22:09I mean, I got those because I'm goody and I get bacon.
- 1:22:15You know what? Get out of my way, kid.
- 1:22:16I'm here to do a job. Joey, I can't fend him off any
- 1:22:19longer. Don't worry, I'm ready for him,
- 1:22:21man. Judd heads to the back of his
- 1:22:23Bobcat, where he has two other big boxes, and sort of
- 1:22:27rearranges them as if to make room for more packages.
- 1:22:31I want to go and shake Judd's hand and say, hey, Judd, sorry I
- 1:22:36got in your way. I just really wanted to give you
- 1:22:37some bacon. Here, put it there.
- 1:22:39He looks at your hand and sees like the immense layers and
- 1:22:44drippings of grease and gives you an elbow instead.
- 1:22:47I can't bump elbows with you, child.
- 1:22:52Endangerment child. Endangerment Child.
- 1:22:55Endangerment. Child endangerment.
- 1:22:57I would like to use this moment as a misdirection to slip out
- 1:22:59without judging me. Let's see it Misdirection 4.
- 1:23:02I want to see a 12. Could I help?
- 1:23:07With a + 1 you could. That is just an 11 all told,
- 1:23:09even without. He sees you coming out of the
- 1:23:11shed and he he asks you what's going on.
- 1:23:13He's like, Brock, control your campers.
- 1:23:15What are they doing? Messing around with my stuff,
- 1:23:17with your stuff, with the goods. Oh, the the goods.
- 1:23:21That's a weird thing to talk about.
- 1:23:22The life vests and things in there that seem to be perfect
- 1:23:25for today to going out in the lake.
- 1:23:27And I mean, look at this one. Mine's mine's I'm assuming
- 1:23:30there's some on the beach. I like just tear it in half as
- 1:23:34it's red bear material just like it comes where mines broken.
- 1:23:37Hey, I'm gonna. Charge you for that.
- 1:23:39How many thunderstorms was that, Monty?
- 1:23:42That was too many thunderstorms. I'll tell you what.
- 1:23:44Here, Judd, take this 20. It's fine.
- 1:23:47My friend here, he deserved to RIP that in half.
- 1:23:52Honestly. We've been through a lot in the
- 1:23:53woods. He laps up your $20 bill, he
- 1:23:56says. This camp pays like shit.
- 1:23:58I'll take everything I can get. I keep hearing that like why do
- 1:24:01you keep coming back if they pay so bad?
- 1:24:04In this economy, I need a job lady.
- 1:24:07We can't all have rich daddies. Like you, but I just feel like
- 1:24:10you can get like a janitor job like somewhere else, like at
- 1:24:13like McDonald's or like a school or like, I don't know where
- 1:24:18janitors were clearly at camps. This job has its perks, let me
- 1:24:22just say that. Please enlighten me, I've been
- 1:24:24trying to figure out why you guys show up here everyday.
- 1:24:27Get out of my shed, I've got to load up my supplies.
- 1:24:30Hey, Joe, you said they had nicer life vests in there.
- 1:24:33Yeah, I think it's something like a false deal where you you
- 1:24:35keep all the good cards to yourself and you deal out the
- 1:24:38cards that you don't want to have everybody else.
- 1:24:40And all the cards they're keeping are all the ones with
- 1:24:42the pretty faces, if you know what I mean.
- 1:24:45Is that why Lottie had so much money?
- 1:24:47Why didn't? Why?
- 1:24:47What do you mean Lottie had money?
- 1:24:49Lottie had a bunch of money in her Fanny pack I saw from the
- 1:24:51ceiling when I had bacon. Lottie Lottie's, but she goes
- 1:24:55home to impoverished family. She's doing the best that she
- 1:24:58can. I can.
- 1:24:59I can mentally see it. She's a really good person.
- 1:25:01She's dating Brock. Yeah.
- 1:25:03I don't think that's true. She has money.
- 1:25:05She has a wad of cash and only offered me $60 to keep my mouth
- 1:25:10shut. That's a year's allowance.
- 1:25:13If you're going to stand around and hover while I try to do my
- 1:25:16job, at least make yourselves useful and move some of the
- 1:25:18boxes out of the out of the back of my bobcat.
- 1:25:20I've got to put new boxes in. Well, OK, I I.
- 1:25:23Purposely drop 1 and let it spill.
- 1:25:26Out. Yeah.
- 1:25:26What do you think it is? I think it's a bunch of new
- 1:25:28stuff. Anyone.
- 1:25:30If it's like Graham crackers, S'mores supplies like it's a.
- 1:25:33Big old box of fresh paper lanterns.
- 1:25:37Why the what? The heck?
- 1:25:39Where, Where did? Where are these open?
- 1:25:41Are you going to hang these up in the woods?
- 1:25:43Because the ones that have been there have been here for more
- 1:25:45than a decade. And they'll continue to serve
- 1:25:48for a decade more. Young Miss.
- 1:25:50No. Excuse me, Excuse me, Sir.
- 1:25:52First of all, you don't speak to a lady like that.
- 1:25:54And secondly, you appreciate the forest and the land that you
- 1:25:59walk on. If I know anything about it, if
- 1:26:01I know anything about living a life, it's that it's all worth
- 1:26:05it. It's all has a meaning because
- 1:26:06of flawless. That's just a path talking.
- 1:26:10Are there are there any campers coming up now?
- 1:26:12Yeah, there's like groups of one or two or three campers at a
- 1:26:15time coming up and sort of distracting Brock.
- 1:26:18While this is all happening. Like small group.
- 1:26:19Yeah, I, I go, hey guys, they're giving out the nice vests over
- 1:26:23here. Shit, great thinking I think oh
- 1:26:29fuck, this is when I just wish I could sit back and like, see you
- 1:26:36guys. Tell a story because I'm.
- 1:26:38Like I don't want to. I have to put.
- 1:26:39Rules or dictate what happens here.
- 1:26:41I can record that effect. I think it's great.
- 1:26:43No. Okay, so Rock sort of perks up
- 1:26:46when he hears this because he's like, wait, somethings going
- 1:26:48wrong over there. He knew that Judd was supposed
- 1:26:50to be coming over to pick up this big box of life vests.
- 1:26:54So when you say something about life vests, his ears perk up and
- 1:26:56he sort of tries to stop these campers from heading that way.
- 1:27:00But I'd imagine maybe the box flaps open.
- 1:27:02Maybe you sort of direct them or start handing them out, and
- 1:27:05suddenly campers are swarming from the beach to get new fancy
- 1:27:08life vests. Yeah.
- 1:27:09Yeah. At the same time, Judd is like,
- 1:27:11bullshit. I got to get away with what I
- 1:27:13can. He's trying to like, pick back
- 1:27:15up all the lanterns that have spilled out of this box, grab
- 1:27:18the box full of yard games, and load everything up onto the
- 1:27:21Bobcat as quickly as he can. No, no, no, I don't think
- 1:27:26Richard from Peoria would would really needs these as much as a
- 1:27:30bunch of kids at camp. How about we keep the yard games
- 1:27:33where they need to be in the yard, Mr. Judd?
- 1:27:36And the life jackets like what do we need another charge of
- 1:27:40child endangerment like? These are dangerous.
- 1:27:42Clearly out of. Spec like we need Nobody's
- 1:27:47endangering any child's. Speak for yourself.
- 1:27:50That is a really deeply. Language, ma'am, you're gonna
- 1:27:54get us all fired. Aren't you?
- 1:27:55That's the goal Also, like, aren't you like a janitor of
- 1:28:01this place? Like shouldn't you be like up
- 1:28:03keeping it and making it as nice as possible?
- 1:28:05Like why are you giving away like other lanterns like.
- 1:28:08Small I don't give anything away.
- 1:28:10Everything in life has a price tag and I've put one on these.
- 1:28:13OK, well how much would it be worth to you to do your job
- 1:28:17right? Wow, $40. 40 more dollars Quite
- 1:28:24a. Claim little Missy, I don't have
- 1:28:27to answer any of your stupid questions, kids.
- 1:28:29He starts to to load more stuff up and.
- 1:28:32How much money are you making off of selling paper lanterns?
- 1:28:35This is a scam everybody. Lanterns are special.
- 1:28:40Everyone's been saying Jason's always special.
- 1:28:42The Lanterns aren't special. Everyone's been saying the
- 1:28:44Lanterns nothing special with the lanes.
- 1:28:45That's. What I said too she, but then
- 1:28:47she's like it's none of your business.
- 1:28:48That's what they keep saying. They just say none of your
- 1:28:50business and they tell me brush you off.
- 1:28:52Judd tell me and Monty straight tell me, Monty and Goody tell me
- 1:28:55and my 2 best friends. Judd, do you know what it is
- 1:28:58like to have friends? No.
- 1:29:00OK, that's. I work at a camp that.
- 1:29:03That's besides the point inside. But you got to tell us what's
- 1:29:05special about the lanterns. You.
- 1:29:07Kid, I don't know. They just do the the stuff.
- 1:29:09They do the stuff. I don't know.
- 1:29:10We hang them up every year. You guys have a great time on
- 1:29:13the path. You come back, you feel better.
- 1:29:16I don't know. We we didn't I.
- 1:29:17Don't know where they came from. All I know is I could get a
- 1:29:19pretty penny for them because I tell, I tell people on
- 1:29:22Marketplace they're special. Judge, The thing is.
- 1:29:25Special lanterns. With Asterix.
- 1:29:27So many Asterix caps. Porch pick up Bend mower cash.
- 1:29:31Judd First of all, I I appreciate this window.
- 1:29:33I appreciate the the con. I appreciate the work and the
- 1:29:37effort that you're going to put into this.
- 1:29:38But don't you think at some point that it's more effort to
- 1:29:41cheat yourself out of a job than just just do the job right?
- 1:29:44Nah. OK, so here's the thing.
- 1:29:48They're actually pretty fucking scary when they get going.
- 1:29:51The lanterns, Yeah. They're lanterns.
- 1:29:53You've never had. Anything.
- 1:29:54They're scary. Synced with the thunderclouds.
- 1:29:57OK, You guys were doing drugs or something in the woods and I
- 1:30:00think I'm going to tell it. Was I?
- 1:30:03Did no such thing. Goody that was OK.
- 1:30:08I'm going to. I'm going to break bad guys.
- 1:30:10I'm breaking baddie. I think you should.
- 1:30:12This is the time. I think I'm going to take one of
- 1:30:14my cans of Hairspray and the lighter, and I'm going to throw
- 1:30:17the lighter first up the well. Well, Judd's not paying
- 1:30:20attention up the exhaust pipe of the bobcat, and then I'm going
- 1:30:23to shove the Hairspray up there as well.
- 1:30:26And then I'm just going to put my shoes.
- 1:30:28At the same time, I would say, and if you think you're going to
- 1:30:31take all of these kids and I would gesture to the beach full
- 1:30:34of like innocent youths, trouble making teens, but innocent
- 1:30:37youths, something bad's going to happen.
- 1:30:40I got my goody. Where'd you go?
- 1:30:42And you pop up. I'm here, my friend.
- 1:30:45Goody isn't always so good. He can make bad things happen
- 1:30:48just by thinking about it, trying to threaten him in the
- 1:30:50way of like, I don't want all these kids going on this path
- 1:30:53tonight. And I got a I might be a good
- 1:30:56man and my friend Goody is good, but you don't want to see his
- 1:30:58bad side. And I try to threaten John with
- 1:31:01Goody's presence. Bad, bad side.
- 1:31:04Oh. Yeah, I do.
- 1:31:06Stuff sometimes. Is this something you've
- 1:31:08triggered to set off automatically, or do you have
- 1:31:12some sort of ability to make this happen or not?
- 1:31:14It sounds like it's going to happen.
- 1:31:16Yeah, I imagined I like kind of like set it up so that the
- 1:31:20lighter is a little bit like held on.
- 1:31:22So there's butane building up in there.
- 1:31:24So when the Bobcat starts, it's you're gonna like destroy the
- 1:31:27engine at least. Perfect.
- 1:31:29Great. You guys are so creative.
- 1:31:33OK, Judd looks at you and continues to sort of brush you
- 1:31:36off like, I don't have to answer to you.
- 1:31:39The Lantern path isn't all that scary.
- 1:31:42You guys deserve to be roughed up a little bit.
- 1:31:44And look, in years past, this is what helped some of the kids
- 1:31:47return and have a reverence for, you know, life.
- 1:31:50Maybe they'd respect the rules. Maybe they'd listen to their
- 1:31:53elders. Maybe they would get in line and
- 1:31:56do things right if you know they were scared enough on the pack.
- 1:31:59So let me get this straight, you want to scare us, not give us
- 1:32:03the stuff that was for camp and make money off of us?
- 1:32:07No one's making money off of you, trust me.
- 1:32:09Your parents barely pay us to keep this camp running.
- 1:32:12Well, I know, but where's all this stuff going?
- 1:32:15They're selling it to random people, goody.
- 1:32:17Alex and Richard from Peoria. Oh well, that's what I mean and.
- 1:32:21Susan, she's picking up the Lantern, so I got to go.
- 1:32:24He starts putting the lanterns back into the box.
- 1:32:26He lets you. I mean, you know, the life
- 1:32:28jackets have been distributed. He's sort of steaming about it,
- 1:32:31but he knows he's caught between a rock and a hard place.
- 1:32:34Anything to shut you guys up at this point.
- 1:32:35He's like, look, keep your life jackets.
- 1:32:38He's loading stuff up into the Bobcat.
- 1:32:40He's going to sit in it and get ready to start.
- 1:32:42Hey guys, let's let's go swimming like now, Like now, OK,
- 1:32:47OK. Yeah, sure.
- 1:32:48Yeah, yeah, we see that. Like your shoes are united.
- 1:32:50Like, oh shit, yeah, yeah, right now.
- 1:32:53Where's my did you take my retrofit Hairspray?
- 1:33:00That is a perfect place to interrupt.
- 1:33:03So good news, you're well on your way to saving the day and
- 1:33:05uncovering the mysteries of this camp.
- 1:33:07I love where your heads are at. The bad news?
- 1:33:09We'll have to wait to find out what happens next because this
- 1:33:12is where we'll end our session today.
- 1:33:14In true die sized fashion, we're extending this story to see
- 1:33:17where it takes us. Stay tuned for the final
- 1:33:19installment of Camp Second Chance, where we'll find out
- 1:33:22Joey, Goody and Monty have what it takes to get things back on
- 1:33:25track at camp before their fellow campers set off to
- 1:33:28experience the Lantern. Path.
- 1:33:31It's a lie. It was just an MLM the whole
- 1:33:34time your. Wizard lies.
- 1:33:37My mom's right. Everyone besides her is a bad
- 1:33:39person. Everyone.
- 1:33:40I should just stay home and I should just hang out with my
- 1:33:42mom. That's OK.
- 1:33:43I put all the some of the raw bacon under all the the
- 1:33:46administration pillows. Oh, OK, that's a odd thing to
- 1:33:50do. I just thought they needed bacon
- 1:33:52and the smell would be bad. You 2 are brilliant.
- 1:33:57Till next time, this has been a bite sized dice rolled twice
