- 0:06Speaker 1: Yo, So funny little thing that came up recently when
- 0:10Speaker 1: I was watching some videos on TikTok. Mark Norman, the comedian,
- 0:15Speaker 1: he's like real dry, real like a risk a type
- 0:19Speaker 1: of material. I don't know if it's his podcast or what,
- 0:22Speaker 1: but I saw him on a podcast with Blake Griffin
- 0:24Speaker 1: and they were just kind of talking about random things obviously,
- 0:28Speaker 1: and also like racial questions because Blake Griffin is half
- 0:32Speaker 1: black and half white. So Mark Norman asked him a
- 0:34Speaker 1: couple of questions like just kind of like when you
- 0:37Speaker 1: tap into either side or whatever. He was basically saying,
- 0:39Speaker 1: in a nutshell, when you're in an interview with the media,
- 0:43Speaker 1: do you wipe it up? And when you're in the
- 0:45Speaker 1: locker room do you black it up?
- 0:47Speaker 2: Yeah? Oh that's that's a big that's.
- 0:50Speaker 1: He asked that straight up, like he was like can
- 0:52Speaker 1: I He asked first, like, Hey, can I ask you
- 0:54Speaker 1: just you know, like a racial question and that's yeah,
- 0:58Speaker 1: And he told him basically yeah, like you know, on
- 1:00Speaker 1: the interview, he would be one way. He's like, after this,
- 1:02Speaker 1: I'm doing Mellos podcast and I'll probably be in there
- 1:04Speaker 1: with some shades, probably some chains on. I'll probably be
- 1:07Speaker 1: leaning back like say, yeah, exactly. So it was just
- 1:11Speaker 1: a funny thing to bring up and a funny thing
- 1:13Speaker 1: to even think about just from the point of view,
- 1:17Speaker 1: Like for me, Bro, I'm Puerto Rican and I don't
- 1:21Speaker 1: act Puerto Rican. I don't act why I don't act black.
- 1:26Speaker 1: I just act how I act. And it's like it's
- 1:29Speaker 1: like a funny thing for people because they're always kind
- 1:31Speaker 1: of like trying to pinpoint me. I guess, but it's like, Bro,
- 1:35Speaker 1: like I'm this, I came up like this and this.
- 1:38Speaker 1: You know, this is just how it is, you know.
- 1:40Speaker 1: So I say that to say, for me, I've never
- 1:44Speaker 1: really had an issue feeling like I needed to act
- 1:46Speaker 1: a certain way to fit in with a certain pout
- 1:48Speaker 1: or whatever, you know what I mean. I just be
- 1:50Speaker 1: how I be and that's it. So it reminded me
- 1:52Speaker 1: of a story from when I used to work at
- 1:55Speaker 1: Subway when I was a kid.
- 1:56Speaker 2: Bro. So, and it's a story you say one day
- 1:59Speaker 2: you want, Yeah.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Fact, this is a story that like I've always wanted
- 2:04Speaker 1: to turn into like a movie or a short film
- 2:06Speaker 1: or something. I took some steps to like actually like
- 2:08Speaker 1: put it into action before, but I didn't realize like
- 2:12Speaker 1: how involved it was, and I'm like, bro, what am
- 2:14Speaker 1: I doing? Like I'm not no movie tycoon or something,
- 2:17Speaker 1: you know what I mean. But basically what happened was
- 2:21Speaker 1: I used to work at Subway and this dude that
- 2:24Speaker 1: like the guy basically that like trained me. He was
- 2:27Speaker 1: a student, like because you know, I was like nineteen
- 2:30Speaker 1: or something at the time. So everybody that would work there,
- 2:32Speaker 1: we worked by UCF, so everybody that worked there was
- 2:35Speaker 1: pretty much just students, you know. So he was a
- 2:37Speaker 1: dude that came from like suburban like Upper New York,
- 2:41Speaker 1: you know what I mean, Like out on the outskirts
- 2:43Speaker 1: of the city, you know what I mean. So he
- 2:46Speaker 1: was a biracial kid, half black and half white, and
- 2:50Speaker 1: he was very he was a very quirky individual to
- 2:54Speaker 1: say the least, you know what I mean. Like he
- 2:57Speaker 1: was a big fan of like older kind of hip hop.
- 3:01Speaker 1: He was a fan of because at the time, it
- 3:03Speaker 1: was like like it was a time when like Rick
- 3:06Speaker 1: Ross was popping and stuff like that. So you know,
- 3:08Speaker 1: he was a fan of those kind of newer rappers,
- 3:10Speaker 1: you know, the ones that were still lyrical and stuff
- 3:12Speaker 1: like that. But he was very much like nineties and
- 3:14Speaker 1: early two thousands hip hop dude, you know. But then
- 3:17Speaker 1: he was also very like, hey, you know, so it
- 3:22Speaker 1: was just funny like to talk rap with him because
- 3:24Speaker 1: like even when he would recite certain lyrics and stuff,
- 3:27Speaker 1: it just sounded funny, you know. Yeah, And he was
- 3:29Speaker 1: so like at the time, this wasn't even a thing,
- 3:32Speaker 1: but he was such like a Karen you know what
- 3:34Speaker 1: I mean, Like like we bro. Sometimes like we will
- 3:38Speaker 1: be working that night and it'll be like, let's say,
- 3:41Speaker 1: like three or four people will walk in and it's
- 3:43Speaker 1: me and him working, right, one of them might have
- 3:46Speaker 1: three or four Bro. If somebody told him they had
- 3:47Speaker 1: like three or four subs, dog, he would literally go
- 3:50Speaker 1: to the back and call the manager for reinforcing.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Bro.
- 3:56Speaker 1: He was like, He's like, Yo, there's a long line here.
- 3:59Speaker 1: I need you to come. Because he lived mad close
- 4:00Speaker 1: and she would always say, Hey, if you guys are
- 4:03Speaker 1: ever like mad he or something, or you need something,
- 4:06Speaker 1: let me know. I'm just right around the corner. Nah.
- 4:08Speaker 1: He took that to heart, bro, Like if there was
- 4:10Speaker 1: three people online he was calling her. She was coming
- 4:13Speaker 1: tight boy, like super mad, because you know she's coming
- 4:15Speaker 1: from home to help you do to it in sandwiches, dog,
- 4:18Speaker 1: like this is what you hear. He would always like
- 4:22Speaker 1: have like long conversations with the customers like, oh hey,
- 4:25Speaker 1: you like this, you like that, like laughing all crazy
- 4:29Speaker 1: and stuff. He would be like, bro, what is wrong
- 4:31Speaker 1: with this guy?
- 4:32Speaker 2: Dog?
- 4:33Speaker 1: So he was cool, you know, but he was just
- 4:35Speaker 1: like a little extra, you know. So he would start
- 4:38Speaker 1: seeing like my homies pull up and everything. He was
- 4:41Speaker 1: a certain way with me, but then when he seen
- 4:43Speaker 1: my homie start pulling up, it was kind of like
- 4:46Speaker 1: he started trying to like act real like hood, you
- 4:49Speaker 1: know what I mean. He started kind of switching into
- 4:51Speaker 1: like another mode like New York. You know, I was
- 4:55Speaker 1: this and you know we used to smoke and this,
- 4:57Speaker 1: this and that, and it's like, bro, I didn't even
- 4:58Speaker 1: smoke at the time, So it's like, why are you
- 5:01Speaker 1: trying to gain points with me with this?
- 5:02Speaker 2: Like you I already saw who you are. You're not
- 5:05Speaker 2: showing yourself as a person to me at this point.
- 5:07Speaker 1: And that was really funny to me too. It's like, bro,
- 5:09Speaker 1: like you don't think I hear you and talk to
- 5:11Speaker 1: you all this time, like I already know what you
- 5:13Speaker 1: about where you are. But he took a liking to
- 5:17Speaker 1: my friends, so he would hook them up when they
- 5:19Speaker 1: would pull up. So finally when he's like, yo, man,
- 5:23Speaker 1: I've been thinking lately that I might want to finally
- 5:25Speaker 1: smoke again. He had been like talking about it for
- 5:27Speaker 1: like weeks, you know what I mean. And then finally
- 5:30Speaker 1: we were having like a little chill session like studio
- 5:32Speaker 1: session one night, like you know, we would get together
- 5:35Speaker 1: at my boy's crib and like record. We had a
- 5:36Speaker 1: little studio that we record just yes, you know whatever
- 5:40Speaker 1: it was. It was a trap, bro, you know what
- 5:42Speaker 1: I mean. Like there was no kitchen literally, like there
- 5:44Speaker 1: was no appliances, nothing. We was just there doing whatever.
- 5:49Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. He didn't really know that,
- 5:53Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. He just he just seen me,
- 5:56Speaker 1: he seen my boys.
- 5:57Speaker 2: That seems like an all right thing to do.
- 5:58Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, Like, I don't know, I
- 6:00Speaker 1: don't like thinking back, bro, I don't know what he's
- 6:03Speaker 1: ever been a part of where he's been, you know
- 6:05Speaker 1: what I'm saying. So like to me at the time,
- 6:07Speaker 1: it's like i'dn't even mention it to him, like what
- 6:10Speaker 1: the setting was, because it's like you talking to me
- 6:13Speaker 1: like you about this life. You know what I mean.
- 6:15Speaker 1: I'm like, all right, bro, you know he mentioned him
- 6:17Speaker 1: banning to come over my boy. Say he's good because
- 6:20Speaker 1: he always hooked up my boy with subs and cookies
- 6:22Speaker 1: and stuff. He said, Yo, just make sure you bring
- 6:24Speaker 1: some stuff, you know what I mean. So he got
- 6:26Speaker 1: his little like you know.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Invest thing like those kind of people they're open, you
- 6:30Speaker 2: know what I'm saying. Oh he fucks with you. We
- 6:32Speaker 2: fuck with him, like come through.
- 6:34Speaker 1: And it was good vibes, you know what I'm saying.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Just he was just a little like lost as a person.
- 6:39Speaker 1: I would say, you know what I mean, Like he
- 6:40Speaker 1: an't really know what he was a mess of people
- 6:43Speaker 1: like you know what I mean. So he pulls up, right,
- 6:47Speaker 1: he pulls up, He hits me, yo, I'm out front.
- 6:49Speaker 1: I come out and get him. He was already looking
- 6:51Speaker 1: kind of like you know, looking back and forth and
- 6:53Speaker 1: feel like out of weird. Like I can already tell
- 6:55Speaker 1: because where he was at, you know what I'm saying,
- 6:58Speaker 1: Like we worked by UCF, but I had him come
- 7:00Speaker 1: out to Golden Rod, you know what I mean, Like
- 7:02Speaker 1: you already know in Orlando, like gold Cemarron, that's like,
- 7:05Speaker 1: you know, that's what goes down, you know what I mean.
- 7:10Speaker 1: So he pulled up. He was already kind of suss.
- 7:13Speaker 1: He comes in. We go to the little makeshift studio
- 7:17Speaker 1: in the back. It was just basically a room that
- 7:19Speaker 1: we painted black and there was a laptop and a
- 7:22Speaker 1: mic in there. It wasn't a studio and we just
- 7:24Speaker 1: called yeah, we just called it the black room. It
- 7:26Speaker 1: was literally a couch, a painted black room, a mic,
- 7:30Speaker 1: and and the laptop wasn't even there. It was my
- 7:33Speaker 1: I would bring the laptop, you know what I mean.
- 7:34Speaker 1: It's more of the area of recording exactly exactly. So
- 7:39Speaker 1: we set up back there. They start passing on blunts
- 7:42Speaker 1: back and forth and stuff. At this time. I didn't smoke,
- 7:44Speaker 1: so I'm just chilling, you know, I'm there for the music.
- 7:46Speaker 1: I'm there for the vibes. He starts feeling nice, he
- 7:49Speaker 1: started free styling. Everybody's laughing because they was high and
- 7:54Speaker 1: they could tell he was high. Just feeling high, you know,
- 7:56Speaker 1: you know when you were like hanging out with somebody
- 7:58Speaker 1: that you could tell they never hung out like that before.
- 8:01Speaker 1: So they're acting like real amp different. So we were
- 8:04Speaker 1: just kind of looking at each other like bro he's hype,
- 8:06Speaker 1: you know, like he's hype right now.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Ya.
- 8:09Speaker 1: So they're recording, right, he gets high, he's feeling good.
- 8:13Speaker 1: He's going back and forth with my other boy, like
- 8:15Speaker 1: they're catching a vibe and like he didn't really know him,
- 8:18Speaker 1: but they're getting cool, you know what I mean. All
- 8:21Speaker 1: of a sudden, we hear like banging at the door.
- 8:26Speaker 2: It's a night time is that night?
- 8:27Speaker 1: It's dumb late because we came after work.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Bro, you know, we were nighttime on Golden Ride. We
- 8:32Speaker 2: were bangs, are in good bangs.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Yep. I left early, like I had like a short shift,
- 8:37Speaker 1: so I left like at nine or something. He had
- 8:39Speaker 1: the closing shift. He would leave like at eleven or something.
- 8:42Speaker 1: So I was already at my boyscrip, but we had
- 8:44Speaker 1: work that night, you know what I mean. So he
- 8:46Speaker 1: pulls up at this time, it's probably already like one
- 8:49Speaker 1: two in the morning something like that. So we hear
- 8:51Speaker 1: the banging. We start coming outside to see what's going on.
- 8:55Speaker 1: So what happened was some of my home, some of
- 8:59Speaker 1: my other homies up because they would come hang out
- 9:01Speaker 1: there too, because one of them lived there, and then
- 9:03Speaker 1: he had like his friends would come over. It was
- 9:05Speaker 1: all our friends, you know what I mean, he specifically
- 9:07Speaker 1: hung out with them more. You know. So they had
- 9:10Speaker 1: pulled up, they had got back home, but as soon
- 9:12Speaker 1: as they pulled up, like six seven cop cars surrounded
- 9:15Speaker 1: them as soon as they parked up. So when we
- 9:19Speaker 1: came out, what we had seen was when the cops
- 9:21Speaker 1: pulled up. And I guess he was I don't know
- 9:25Speaker 1: if they knew the cops were coming or what, and
- 9:27Speaker 1: that's why he was like coming to the door like that.
- 9:30Speaker 1: But when we come out, we see the cops pull
- 9:32Speaker 1: up and everything. We locked the door, you know what
- 9:35Speaker 1: I'm saying. Because my boy that owned the crew, he
- 9:37Speaker 1: had a call. Yeah, he had already been arrested so
- 9:40Speaker 1: many times dog that his lawyer had him trained.
- 9:42Speaker 2: Bro his trap house protocol right in.
- 9:44Speaker 1: Fact, So he locks the door. They're outside, my boy
- 9:48Speaker 1: from subway is tripping, Bro. He's looking out the window.
- 9:52Speaker 1: Oh my god. And he's the first time I expected
- 9:57Speaker 1: for the first time. B don't think. I really don't
- 10:02Speaker 1: think he has smoked before that. Like even the way
- 10:04Speaker 1: he's smoking. I mean, you know, when you see somebody,
- 10:06Speaker 1: even the way he did, it was kind of like, yeah,
- 10:09Speaker 1: So I'm thinking this is his first time really, so imagine, bro,
- 10:13Speaker 1: this is your first time smoking. As soon as you
- 10:16Speaker 1: get done getting high and chilling, bro, mad cop cars.
- 10:20Speaker 1: So the cops start coming to the door asking to
- 10:24Speaker 1: come in and stuff. My boy mad belligerent, like my
- 10:28Speaker 1: my boy. That's the owner of the house. So I'm
- 10:30Speaker 1: gonna say subway dude, and I'm gonna say.
- 10:31Speaker 2: My boy, So my boy.
- 10:34Speaker 1: He's tripping on the copsy y'all some bams.
- 10:40Speaker 2: Oh not the first interaction between them, Yeah, like y'all
- 10:43Speaker 2: ain't coming in if you don't got a if you
- 10:46Speaker 2: don't got a one f y'all piece, get out of here,
- 10:50Speaker 2: like going crazy, bro, super belligerent.
- 10:53Speaker 1: The cops are banging on the door. Once he starts
- 10:56Speaker 1: yelling at them like that, Bro, the subway dude starts
- 11:00Speaker 1: going same.
- 11:01Speaker 2: Bro.
- 11:02Speaker 1: He was tellingim, Bro, just open the door, Just open
- 11:05Speaker 1: the door.
- 11:05Speaker 2: Oh. He was trying to interfere.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Bro. He was like, we got to get arrested. And
- 11:11Speaker 1: my other boys like, dog, you need to chill out. Dog,
- 11:14Speaker 1: Like we know what we're doing. We ain't doing nothing wrong.
- 11:19Speaker 1: They're coming for them whatever they got going on, Like
- 11:22Speaker 1: we're good, Bro, we just got to wait it out. Bro.
- 11:25Speaker 1: We're there probably till like six seven in the morning,
- 11:28Speaker 1: and the whole time, like buddies just trip and trip,
- 11:33Speaker 1: and he's like about a cry. He's out loud, like
- 11:35Speaker 1: thinking out loud, like, bro, why did I come here?
- 11:37Speaker 2: That's when you know he fuck around and found out.
- 11:40Speaker 1: He definitely found out. So what ended up happening was
- 11:44Speaker 1: when my other boys came in. We were young at
- 11:47Speaker 1: the time, you know what I'm saying. Eighteen nineteen, you
- 11:50Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. So they were sneaking over some
- 11:52Speaker 1: girl's house. So when they snuck in, one of the
- 11:56Speaker 1: neighbors seen, gotcha, and the neighbor called the yo, somebody's
- 12:00Speaker 1: robbing this house. Because the neighbor knew that the parents
- 12:04Speaker 1: were out of town, which is why the kid was coming.
- 12:08Speaker 1: You know, the dudes were coming over because the parents
- 12:10Speaker 1: were out of town. She had a couple home girls there,
- 12:13Speaker 1: so they came through. Bruh. When they left the house,
- 12:18Speaker 1: the cops were like they already there waiting for them
- 12:20Speaker 1: to leave to follow them back. So as soon as
- 12:23Speaker 1: they pulled into my boy's crib that's why they were
- 12:25Speaker 1: already there, and it got them because like they were
- 12:28Speaker 1: already following from the girls neighborhood, and they ended up
- 12:30Speaker 1: letting them go because it was a misunderstanding, you know
- 12:32Speaker 1: what I'm saying. Like they ended up explaining, like, Bro,
- 12:34Speaker 1: we was just there messing around with some chicks, you know,
- 12:37Speaker 1: the neighbor misunderstood. They kind of verified the story, checked
- 12:41Speaker 1: everything out, whatever, and then they eventually left and they
- 12:44Speaker 1: gave up trying to come in my boy's crib because,
- 12:45Speaker 1: like I said, my boy already knew they can't come in,
- 12:47Speaker 1: you know. So after everything happens, I ended up getting
- 12:53Speaker 1: a ride back with my homie from from work the subway. Dude, Bro,
- 12:58Speaker 1: on the way back, it's like the morning time, I'm like,
- 13:02Speaker 1: I'm just kind of like aggravated that I had to
- 13:04Speaker 1: stay there all night, you know. I mean, I just
- 13:05Speaker 1: wanted to go home, you know, I how to wait.
- 13:08Speaker 1: So we're going back. I just I still remember just
- 13:11Speaker 1: like looking out the window, like kind of leaning on
- 13:13Speaker 1: the door, and this dude is just kind of like
- 13:15Speaker 1: like reflecting on what happened, talking about how He's like, nah,
- 13:18Speaker 1: I think I think I'm not gonna smoke, bro, you
- 13:21Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, Because it's like the first time
- 13:23Speaker 1: so he just he was like, nah, bro, it was
- 13:25Speaker 1: so funny to me, dog, because like the way everything
- 13:28Speaker 1: went down was like like an after school special, like
- 13:31Speaker 1: you making the decision, like your teacher told you, now,
- 13:34Speaker 1: I don't do it, and then as soon as you
- 13:36Speaker 1: decided to do it, it's like every worst case scenario.
- 13:38Speaker 1: Because that's how I'm after.
- 13:39Speaker 2: He got that battery in his back. But that's why
- 13:41Speaker 2: if it was a movie, that the part where the
- 13:44Speaker 2: cops are knocking on the door and everybody's wild and
- 13:47Speaker 2: he's yelling, that's when the record scratch and he's like.
- 13:50Speaker 1: You probably wonder what I got here?
- 13:52Speaker 2: Yeah, probably want to be a guy here. I made
- 13:55Speaker 2: the wrong decision, bro.
- 13:57Speaker 1: The funny thing is the reason that I never smoked
- 14:00Speaker 1: until I was like twenty six twenty seven was because
- 14:03Speaker 1: I seen one of them after school specials. It was
- 14:06Speaker 1: three kids, White boy, Black boy, Spanish boy. They all
- 14:12Speaker 1: go up to the attic of the house, right, I
- 14:16Speaker 1: forgot what specific. I think it was like a bong
- 14:18Speaker 1: or something like they found like a bong or something
- 14:21Speaker 1: like that. They start smoking. White kid takes a hit, chilling,
- 14:27Speaker 1: Black kid takes a hit, chilling. Spanish kid takes a
- 14:31Speaker 1: hit dies, Bro, like he's coming out like in the
- 14:39Speaker 1: in the ambulance and then like the scene stops and
- 14:41Speaker 1: then like the words and the narrators like Carlos had
- 14:45Speaker 1: a heart condition he didn't know about and that smoke
- 14:49Speaker 1: activated something in his lungs and dying. I was like
- 14:54Speaker 1: in fifth grade I watched.
- 14:56Speaker 2: I was like, no, Bro, and I'm in the room,
- 15:01Speaker 2: never in the room.
- 15:03Speaker 1: Dog and I'm Spanish, so that YO, that's stuck with me,
- 15:06Speaker 1: Bro till I was like, like I said, until I
- 15:08Speaker 1: was like twenty five, twenty six, Bro, I thought.
- 15:10Speaker 2: I was like, dang, that's why they put those kind
- 15:12Speaker 2: of things out, because that those message actually here for
- 15:14Speaker 2: sure it works.
- 15:15Speaker 1: I'm gonna say that them after school specials work their works,
- 15:19Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. Because that shirt was hard.
- 15:21Speaker 2: Bro, the their shirt, I wasn't there, YO did their
- 15:23Speaker 2: shirt with the little louse and you know I didn't
- 15:25Speaker 2: follow it, but I wasn't there, Bro.
- 15:27Speaker 1: When they offering you a shirt in like school or something,
- 15:30Speaker 1: Bro that you know. I went to Water for Lakes
- 15:32Speaker 1: one time, which is like the little town Center area
- 15:35Speaker 1: of Orlando, and they were doing like some kind of fair,
- 15:37Speaker 1: like some kind of educational fair and there was a
- 15:40Speaker 1: tent there that had like a little bouncy house and
- 15:44Speaker 1: you could go in the bouncy house and then they
- 15:46Speaker 1: gave you a shirt that said Wired Science. It was
- 15:50Speaker 1: like one of the Corneas shirts, but it was a
- 15:53Speaker 1: free shirt. Bro. I wore that shirt. Out standing, Bro,
- 15:57Speaker 1: my Wired Science shirt. And the funny thing was thog
- 16:01Speaker 1: that Wired Science shirt taught me how stupid people was,
- 16:05Speaker 1: because they will always say that my shirt said Weird Science.
- 16:08Speaker 2: Yeah, you know what I mean. Well, that was a show,
- 16:10Speaker 2: so it probably was similar to the logo of the show.
- 16:14Speaker 1: I don't know because I never seen the show. It
- 16:17Speaker 1: might be a classic show, but you know the song
- 16:20Speaker 1: for sure, it didn't say weird Science.
- 16:22Speaker 2: And in my head, I'm like, damn, people kind of
- 16:24Speaker 2: dumb though it must be smoking that refrach facts.
- 16:28Speaker 1: They must have been not paying attention to after school
- 16:30Speaker 1: special Bro and Yo.
- 16:31Speaker 2: But it's funny because I still think about one of
- 16:34Speaker 2: the main ones. It was a frying pan and it
- 16:36Speaker 2: was like and they had an egg, this is your brain,
- 16:39Speaker 2: and they cracked the egg in the frying pan. This
- 16:41Speaker 2: is your brain on drugs, Like, damn.
- 16:44Speaker 1: Remember, Buddy, that was like melted into the couch.
- 16:46Speaker 2: Yeah. I like that. Now people are like, yo, I
- 16:49Speaker 2: want to know where they had that. I want to
- 16:50Speaker 2: know what strain they.
- 16:51Speaker 1: Had bro That feeling, Yeah, I got that feeling from
- 16:54Speaker 1: Mendo breath Og the same bro the same way Buddy
- 16:58Speaker 1: was in the couch.
- 16:59Speaker 2: That was me.
- 16:59Speaker 1: I was at the studio and I called my wife.
- 17:01Speaker 1: I'm like, hey, I'm done with my session, but I'm
- 17:04Speaker 1: pretty toasted, so I'm gonna hang out here for a
- 17:06Speaker 1: little bit.
- 17:07Speaker 2: But I think it was It wasn't. It wasn't nearly
- 17:09Speaker 2: as powerful back then. I'm just talking weed. Weed was
- 17:12Speaker 2: definitely not as powerful back then as it is today
- 17:15Speaker 2: for them to coming out with those kind of message.
- 17:17Speaker 1: So that's something that I got lucky with that. When
- 17:19Speaker 1: I came into the small smoking era, it was already gas,
- 17:24Speaker 1: you know what I mean. Like shout out to my boy.
- 17:25Speaker 1: Matter of fact, he was one of the ones that
- 17:27Speaker 1: was there that night. He always says rapper weed, you
- 17:32Speaker 1: know what I mean, Like there's weed and then there's
- 17:34Speaker 1: rapper weed. And it's like I never had a smoke
- 17:37Speaker 1: the reggie. I never like I seen it when I
- 17:39Speaker 1: was younger, you know, the joint that I like little.
- 17:42Speaker 1: It wasn't even like nugs, bro.
- 17:44Speaker 2: It was like sheets. It was like molch.
- 17:47Speaker 1: It was like mold, bro. It was straight sheets of
- 17:50Speaker 1: like grass, bro. It was like the wet That's party
- 17:53Speaker 1: why I didn't like I wasn't like attracted to it
- 17:56Speaker 1: at that time either, because they were just coming around
- 17:58Speaker 1: with Reggie and you looked at it, smelled it and
- 18:01Speaker 1: it was like you guys got that.
- 18:02Speaker 2: Yeah, I remember that, and I remember the transition of
- 18:06Speaker 2: when people I'm gonna get too deep into this, but
- 18:08Speaker 2: I still remember the transition of where people started moving
- 18:11Speaker 2: on to crippy. Back then, that's what was the name.
- 18:15Speaker 2: It was rags, mids and crippy. And then it would
- 18:19Speaker 2: be like majority of crippying, someone like, oh, I'll throw
- 18:21Speaker 2: in some rags.
- 18:22Speaker 1: Are like nachi to yourself.
- 18:24Speaker 2: Keep that right there. Yeah. But but it's crazy because
- 18:28Speaker 2: even though back then still that was the most powerful
- 18:30Speaker 2: stuff that existed. Back then, Yeah, people never experienced that.
- 18:34Speaker 2: And you think you can handle it, and that shit
- 18:36Speaker 2: hits you like a moving train. Nah, facts, bro, that's
- 18:40Speaker 2: what happened to Dave.
- 18:41Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what happened to Dave Man. Shout out to
- 18:43Speaker 1: Dave I'll be trying to find him sometimes, like our
- 18:46Speaker 1: social media stuff. Like I said, he's a cool dude.
- 18:48Speaker 1: But that was just a funny experience, dog And yeah,
- 18:52Speaker 1: but I always think about that when I think about
- 18:54Speaker 1: code switching and stuff, and even like just to wrap
- 18:56Speaker 1: it up, like my spin on the movie of that
- 19:00Speaker 1: would like emphasize that like the code switching you kind
- 19:04Speaker 1: of trying to figure yourself out and trying to see
- 19:06Speaker 1: where you belong and stuff, because like for me, it's
- 19:08Speaker 1: like even deeper, bro, Like he was half black, half white.
- 19:11Speaker 1: Who knows if he just could have fanned somewhere to
- 19:13Speaker 1: fit in.
- 19:13Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, he was trying to prove he was
- 19:15Speaker 2: trying to navigate and see which side do I relate
- 19:18Speaker 2: with the most. You could do that without weed, I'll
- 19:20Speaker 2: tell you, Hey, he's in.
- 19:21Speaker 1: The college area, so he's leaving his hometown. Like I
- 19:24Speaker 1: never That's what I'm saying, Bro. Like when we had
- 19:26Speaker 1: that experience, Bro, I was so naive and dumb. I'd
- 19:29Speaker 1: even think to like like like, Bro, this is a
- 19:33Speaker 1: trap house, Like maybe I shouldn't invite him here, you
- 19:35Speaker 1: know what I mean, Like even like the fact that
- 19:37Speaker 1: he came like for college, Like and the type of
- 19:40Speaker 1: person he was like, I should have even been like, Bro,
- 19:43Speaker 1: this guy is not built for this, you know.
- 19:44Speaker 2: What I mean? And only then I think back then
- 19:46Speaker 2: things were experimental. There weren't a lot of people around
- 19:49Speaker 2: who did it. It could tell you, like today, if
- 19:52Speaker 2: you want something, there's someone around you could tell you
- 19:53Speaker 2: exactly what's gonna happen when you take it.
- 19:55Speaker 1: Yeah, fact exactly.
- 19:56Speaker 2: Back then everything was like, oh I heard about this.
- 19:59Speaker 2: No one's really saying let's see. Now It's like, no,
- 20:02Speaker 2: if you take this, this is how you're gonna feel.
- 20:03Speaker 2: This is what's gonna happen. So for I think the
- 20:06Speaker 2: time that he was in I get it. I would
- 20:09Speaker 2: if I put myself in his shoes, I'll probably take
- 20:11Speaker 2: the same route. I'm not gonna lie. I take the
- 20:13Speaker 2: same route now sometimes just in regular navigating through life. Lord,
- 20:16Speaker 2: let me put myself in these positions and I'm in
- 20:18Speaker 2: there and I'm like, oh, this same for me.
- 20:20Speaker 1: Yeah, man, that was funny, dog and man. Just to
- 20:24Speaker 1: wrap it up, my final sentiments on this are thanks
- 20:28Speaker 1: to Weed, I've had some of the funniest experiences in
- 20:31Speaker 1: my life. Bro, even when I wasn't the one smoking.
- 20:34Speaker 2: Bro.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Just just watching it from Afar. It's hilarious.
- 20:37Speaker 2: Man. I have some of those too. Once I remember
- 20:40Speaker 2: like one like that, I'm gonna have to share it
- 20:41Speaker 2: on here too, bro.
- 20:43Speaker 1: And last thing I'm gonna say, Dog, it's just so
- 20:46Speaker 1: crazy to me that you decide to smoke weed and
- 20:48Speaker 1: then you get locked into a house surrounded by cops.
- 20:52Speaker 1: Like it's just it's just a crazy situation to be in, Bruh.
- 20:56Speaker 1: And like now thinking like we were clowning him at
- 20:58Speaker 1: the time, but now when you think about it, of
- 21:00Speaker 1: course he would be scared.
- 21:02Speaker 2: In the mirror before he left the house. Like today
- 21:04Speaker 2: is gonna be a good night. Everything's gonna go just
- 21:07Speaker 2: fine at night. Weed. Yeah, guys are gonna like some
- 21:12Speaker 2: subway cookies and we're gonna have a good time. Bro.
- 21:14Speaker 1: Them cookies ain't save them that night.
- 21:16Speaker 2: But I'd say you that ain't that good
