Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome back to Born to the Game. We are doing
- 0:04Speaker 1: a quick recap of our conversation with our girl, Kylie Evans,
- 0:08Speaker 1: a conversation that was honest, grounded, and full of personality.
- 0:13Speaker 1: There was so many joyous moments in this episode, and
- 0:16Speaker 1: we wanted to take a few minutes to reflect on
- 0:19Speaker 1: what really stayed with us.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, what's Kyie is just?
- 0:27Speaker 1: Oh my god, a beautiful storyteller. She's a fashionista, she's
- 0:32Speaker 1: incredibly talented.
- 0:34Speaker 2: She's just she's.
- 0:36Speaker 1: So perky and just full of energy and light and life.
- 0:42Speaker 1: And it was an incredible conversation.
- 0:44Speaker 2: It was so much fun.
- 0:45Speaker 3: What I really love about Kylie is Kylie is much
- 0:48Speaker 3: younger than us.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Okay, let's put that there. Yeah she is, But doesn't
- 0:52Speaker 2: it seem like she's from the nineties?
- 0:56Speaker 1: Aura and how she It could be just how she dresses,
- 0:59Speaker 1: how she talked, how she how she walks, just her
- 1:02Speaker 1: whole vibe.
- 1:03Speaker 2: But she walked in.
- 1:04Speaker 4: I was like she I was like, you know what
- 1:06Speaker 4: they saw? They said, the kids, you know she's been
- 1:08Speaker 4: here before. It's like, Kylie, I think you've been here
- 1:10Speaker 4: before because she's so mature and like you said in
- 1:17Speaker 4: the intro, like she is so good at telling stories,
- 1:22Speaker 4: like her storytelling is is unmatched, and people will see
- 1:26Speaker 4: that in the episode.
- 1:28Speaker 2: But yeah, I loved taking out with.
- 1:30Speaker 4: Kylie because the laughs, the were so real, Like is
- 1:36Speaker 4: the raws that we could, you know, offer the.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Story? It was so much fun. The games, Oh my god,
- 1:43Speaker 2: I'm thinking.
- 1:44Speaker 1: And I don't want to give it away, but I
- 1:45Speaker 1: know by this time viewers would have already seen it.
- 1:48Speaker 1: When she was talking about Dennis Rodman hitting the.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, girl, I fell out.
- 1:55Speaker 1: When she was talking about Britney Spears and the impersonation
- 2:00Speaker 1: she is again, I'm I'm just excited to see where
- 2:04Speaker 1: her career takes her within.
- 2:06Speaker 2: The next five to ten years.
- 2:07Speaker 1: And I just think there's something really powerful about seeing
- 2:11Speaker 1: a young black woman step into storytelling like this, because
- 2:17Speaker 1: whether she realizes it or not, I believe she's she's
- 2:21Speaker 1: going to inspire at least one little girl out there
- 2:25Speaker 1: to believe.
- 2:26Speaker 2: That she's same, Like she's already so.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Many doors and possibilities for other young women who aspire
- 2:34Speaker 1: to do what she's doing.
- 2:35Speaker 2: So yeah, I think she's next.
- 2:38Speaker 4: I think I think just from talking with her, like
- 2:44Speaker 4: you know, how you see you can just see it
- 2:47Speaker 4: or I can visualize it, like I feel like she's
- 2:49Speaker 4: the next big.
- 2:52Speaker 2: You know, director coming up.
- 2:54Speaker 4: She's upcoming, She's got everything that it takes to do it.
- 3:00Speaker 2: So I'm just expecting that.
- 3:02Speaker 4: I really really believe that she is up next, and
- 3:04Speaker 4: I can't wait to see, you know, the things that
- 3:07Speaker 4: she has that she's working on, and then also excited
- 3:11Speaker 4: for people to hear the things that she has worked
- 3:13Speaker 4: olds so they can go back and watch some.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Of her work because I didn't know a lot of
- 3:17Speaker 2: this stuff. I'm like, oh my gosh, like that was
- 3:19Speaker 2: you so.
- 3:22Speaker 4: Mean proud, like wilding out right right, So I mean
- 3:27Speaker 4: just impressive. So I think this is what this platform
- 3:31Speaker 4: is for, for people to really see what can be done,
- 3:35Speaker 4: and also just to highlight like people doing things that
- 3:40Speaker 4: you might not even realize because I know that I didn't.
- 3:43Speaker 2: And so.
- 3:45Speaker 4: Yeah, she was cool, Like Kylie was cool again. She
- 3:48Speaker 4: feels like she feels like she's like been here before.
- 3:53Speaker 2: And it's crazy.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Because leading up to that episode, she was texting me
- 3:58Speaker 1: and she's like, oh my god, Mariah, I'm so nervous.
- 4:00Speaker 1: We may need to have some liquor on set. And
- 4:03Speaker 1: I was like, girl, my gosh, you we'll have some champagne,
- 4:05Speaker 1: We'll have whatever you need to get comfortable. And so
- 4:09Speaker 1: for viewers, this was our Tamerini's first time meeting Kylie
- 4:13Speaker 1: in person, so our dads, my dad already knows Bentley
- 4:17Speaker 1: very well, but this was my first time meeting her
- 4:20Speaker 1: in person. So I was expecting Kylie to walk in
- 4:23Speaker 1: and be very timid and shy and more like kept
- 4:28Speaker 1: to herself, and she was the exact opposite. We got
- 4:32Speaker 1: down on the couch, we sat down and we were like, girl,
- 4:35Speaker 1: you did not need a droplet.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Of personality.
- 4:40Speaker 3: But I think what it is as personable can be.
- 4:44Speaker 2: She's so personal.
- 4:44Speaker 4: But I think what it is is we talked about
- 4:46Speaker 4: it during your episode, is just.
- 4:49Speaker 3: The vulnerability when you're talking about yourself and if you're
- 4:51Speaker 3: not used to the platform and talking about yourself, maybe
- 4:55Speaker 3: other topics that involve you, but not yourself. I think
- 5:00Speaker 3: that can always be daunting.
- 5:01Speaker 4: And I think when our guests come, we do our
- 5:04Speaker 4: best to make sure they are.
- 5:05Speaker 2: Put at ease and they are comfortable.
- 5:08Speaker 4: And for us and Kylie, we got comfortable in point
- 5:11Speaker 4: five seconds, and it was like it was like old friends.
- 5:15Speaker 3: Talking yeah and laughing, and key king, which we love
- 5:18Speaker 3: to do.
- 5:19Speaker 2: So yeah.
- 5:20Speaker 1: I told her she has forever sisters within us and
- 5:23Speaker 1: absolutely absolutely to give us a call, and like we've
- 5:27Speaker 1: shared a thousand times, we're so excited to watch.
- 5:31Speaker 2: I'm like, Kylie, hey, whatever you got going on, call me.
- 5:35Speaker 2: I want to be in the number.
- 5:37Speaker 3: That part, whatever she's gonna do is gonna be cool,
- 5:40Speaker 3: Like you know.
- 5:40Speaker 4: What I mean, She's just that kind of creative Yeah,
- 5:43Speaker 4: and just a person who you want to be, you know,
- 5:45Speaker 4: just be around and learn from.
- 5:47Speaker 2: So she's cool. I'm excited. I was super excited to.
- 5:50Speaker 3: Meet her, and then the impressions, honey, like I can't,
- 5:54Speaker 3: I can't.
- 5:55Speaker 1: I think one one thing I took away from her
- 5:59Speaker 1: and her episode is the importance of having fun.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Even in small moments.
- 6:07Speaker 1: Not everything has to feel so serious to be meaningful,
- 6:12Speaker 1: enjoy life, chase after your dreams. I think that's one
- 6:16Speaker 1: thing viewers will be able to learn from her and
- 6:19Speaker 1: take away from her episode. She's again overall an incredible, kind, humble,
- 6:26Speaker 1: genuine human being. So yeah, yeah, definitely learned that being
- 6:32Speaker 1: the present part, like she was incredibly present, and then
- 6:36Speaker 1: just how she connects with other.
- 6:39Speaker 2: People and learning how she connects with other people.
- 6:41Speaker 4: It was it inspired me because I find that, like
- 6:46Speaker 4: you know, I, there are instances where I'm not as present,
- 6:50Speaker 4: you know, in in things and work. And I think
- 6:54Speaker 4: if we could just be still enough and just focus
- 6:57Speaker 4: enough to be present, I think, you know, our life
- 7:00Speaker 4: would incredibly improve. But it just takes work and takes practice,
- 7:04Speaker 4: and takes also acknowledgment that you know, I am not present,
- 7:08Speaker 4: I am not I am not like this, and so
- 7:11Speaker 4: this is something I need to do. And I feel
- 7:12Speaker 4: like with Kylie, she was just just a completely present person.
- 7:18Speaker 4: And yeah, it was such a great interview. So I
- 7:23Speaker 4: can't wait for you guys to hear and or see.
- 7:27Speaker 2: All of the things.
- 7:29Speaker 1: If I could describe her in one word, I think
- 7:32Speaker 1: I would use multi dimensional.
- 7:37Speaker 2: To that one word or two words? Does a hyphen count?
- 7:42Speaker 2: I don't know, so.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Dimensional, I feel like I can we look, we gonna
- 7:49Speaker 1: make it one word today. If it's two words, sorry guys,
- 7:52Speaker 1: but we're going to make it one word today. She
- 7:54Speaker 1: is multi dimensional from again fashion, She's placeful, expressive, she's talented,
- 8:02Speaker 1: she's kind, she just h The girl has it going on.
- 8:06Speaker 1: And I feel like the whole time we were talking
- 8:09Speaker 1: to her, I was in awe. I was like, wow, Kylie,
- 8:11Speaker 1: you really are fascinating.
- 8:14Speaker 4: Right And if you are all interested in the film business,
- 8:19Speaker 4: and if you're you know, you're a woman.
- 8:20Speaker 2: This is a Woman's.
- 8:22Speaker 3: History month if you're a woman and you are wanting
- 8:26Speaker 3: to go into you know, the industry. She's a wonderful
- 8:30Speaker 3: person to get to know and to follow because she
- 8:35Speaker 3: as young as she is, has accomplished so much and
- 8:39Speaker 3: you can learn a lot from her in a very
- 8:41Speaker 3: short time. So that is a huge plug. You know
- 8:45Speaker 3: that you get that for free, you know what I mean.
- 8:49Speaker 4: Listen to her and you know, follow her in her
- 8:51Speaker 4: career and just learn some stuff from her along the way.
- 8:54Speaker 1: So I think you bring up a great point about networking.
- 9:00Speaker 2: Her. You know her her.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Social media handles will be public, So if you have questions,
- 9:07Speaker 1: I do encourage people, if you are inspired to be
- 9:10Speaker 1: in the creative space, shoot her message, ask questions. She's
- 9:15Speaker 1: the type of person who wants to help and inspire
- 9:18Speaker 1: and encourage any and everyone to chase their dreams.
- 9:22Speaker 2: So serious inquiries only, of course.
- 9:28Speaker 1: Disclaimer serious only only because Kylie will be listening to this,
- 9:35Speaker 1: like girl, I did not tell y'all.
- 9:38Speaker 2: She's like, why everybody to my DMS, that's not what
- 9:42Speaker 2: I said. So if you get blocked, don't sorry. Sorry, sorry,
- 9:48Speaker 2: that was not our goal.
- 9:51Speaker 1: But yeah, I've I'm excited for Bentley, her father, to
- 9:58Speaker 1: watch this.
- 10:00Speaker 2: I'm curious to know what he's going to say.
- 10:03Speaker 4: Wait, did we even say who Kylie? Her connection to
- 10:07Speaker 4: the show? Do we even do we say that at
- 10:09Speaker 4: the beginning?
- 10:10Speaker 1: I don't know if we said it in the beginning,
- 10:12Speaker 1: but we are assuming that if viewers are at this point,
- 10:15Speaker 1: and if they're listening to this episode, they've already seen
- 10:19Speaker 1: or heard Kylie's episode. But if you have not, and
- 10:23Speaker 1: if you have bypassed the audio and the visual for
- 10:28Speaker 1: Kylie Evans. Her father is Bentley Evans, who is a talented,
- 10:32Speaker 1: talented writer and producer behind culturally defining shows like Martin
- 10:39Speaker 1: and The Jamie Foxx Show.
- 10:41Speaker 2: And Moisha Mosha. The list is long.
- 10:46Speaker 3: The list is long, But let's I'm going to rewatch Mosha.
- 10:49Speaker 2: I'm sorry, Like I I'm sorry, I'm going to go back.
- 10:53Speaker 2: I was thinking about that earlier.
- 10:54Speaker 4: I was like, I just want to go back and
- 10:56Speaker 4: watch a little bit of it, just because I remember
- 11:00Speaker 4: like coming in and just watching the show and like
- 11:03Speaker 4: I sometimes TV is just not what TV used to
- 11:07Speaker 4: be and I just need that fix of that, like
- 11:10Speaker 4: that real sitcom.
- 11:12Speaker 2: Yes, I need that sitcom fix. And no one does
- 11:16Speaker 2: sitcoms like that era.
- 11:17Speaker 4: I'm sorry, Like you know, we've got great shows out
- 11:20Speaker 4: to that you know, of course we love those, but
- 11:22Speaker 4: nothing is like those the sitcom area.
- 11:25Speaker 2: That we we got to you know, be a part of,
- 11:29Speaker 2: and just just it was like a fixture.
- 11:33Speaker 4: We Kneway, our show came on and we're gonna come home,
- 11:36Speaker 4: We're gonna watch it.
- 11:37Speaker 2: I need so much. Oh my gosh, you knew you
- 11:40Speaker 2: were going to get a good laugh.
- 11:42Speaker 1: You knew that however you were feeling leading up to
- 11:46Speaker 1: that moment of sitting down on the couch and turning
- 11:48Speaker 1: it on, whether you were feeling.
- 11:51Speaker 2: If you were having a bad day.
- 11:53Speaker 1: Once you got in the couch and turned on one
- 11:54Speaker 1: of those sitcoms, baby a good laugh in So.
- 11:58Speaker 4: Yeah, and all that that, like those sitcoms did. Like
- 12:02Speaker 4: I think about Shirley Ralph now how she's on Avid
- 12:06Speaker 4: Elementary and like she was like the I mean, like yes,
- 12:11Speaker 4: like this, we just loved her and then now she's
- 12:15Speaker 4: just she's even bigger than she was. And I just
- 12:20Speaker 4: know that that being a part of that era is
- 12:22Speaker 4: a part of it because I mean, come on, that.
- 12:25Speaker 3: Was hate it girl, so loving and light.
- 12:31Speaker 1: Ugh, it's needed, like yes, you know, without going down
- 12:35Speaker 1: this rabbit hole. But today's what March thirtieth, twenty twenty six,
- 12:40Speaker 1: it's getting real in the world.
- 12:42Speaker 5: And yeah, by that good TV, like a good show,
- 12:48Speaker 5: need a good laugh, right, They're really they're redoing a
- 12:51Speaker 5: different world, which is like great, So bring.
- 12:54Speaker 2: Back all these shows. Maybe we should ask her if
- 12:57Speaker 2: there's going to be a Martin Reyboot. I mean, I
- 13:00Speaker 2: think it's worth the question. I think so, and I
- 13:02Speaker 2: feel like she would give us the hands.
- 13:04Speaker 4: Oh my gosh, if there was a Martiny Boot, I
- 13:06Speaker 4: don't know what I would do it myself.
- 13:08Speaker 5: I don't.
- 13:08Speaker 1: I mean, I know where I'm gonna be on beyond
- 13:10Speaker 1: that house, I can tell you that much. With my
- 13:13Speaker 1: tea and my cookies. And we're gonna have a show
- 13:16Speaker 1: on repeat.
- 13:17Speaker 4: So your team, you know, repeat, You're not leave it
- 13:21Speaker 4: how it is, leave it as it was.
- 13:25Speaker 2: I think I'm either or I can be both.
- 13:28Speaker 1: I wouldn't be mad at either, to be honest, right,
- 13:30Speaker 1: because we have access to the originals.
- 13:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:34Speaker 1: True, So I mean there's no need Like if if
- 13:38Speaker 1: we didn't have access to the originals, and I would say,
- 13:40Speaker 1: hell yeah, bring on the New.
- 13:41Speaker 3: But right, because what if Kylie was like what if
- 13:45Speaker 3: she was.
- 13:45Speaker 4: The showrunner for like the New, like we're making up
- 13:48Speaker 4: all kinds of stuff.
- 13:49Speaker 2: I would tears of joy if that was the case.
- 13:52Speaker 2: I would be like, look at our little like our
- 13:54Speaker 2: little sister out there. She's like the second generation, said
- 13:58Speaker 2: the next generation, you know what I mean.
- 14:00Speaker 4: Like, but she's the one to do it because she's
- 14:02Speaker 4: got that spirit that sitcome, you know, expertise. She'll be
- 14:06Speaker 4: the one to redo a show and like make it amazing.
- 14:11Speaker 2: Let's call her and ask her should we should you
- 14:14Speaker 2: know what?
- 14:14Speaker 1: That's what we need to do on these We need
- 14:16Speaker 1: to just call our talent and just have them, have
- 14:20Speaker 1: them say, hey, during this twenty minute segment.
- 14:22Speaker 2: Hey guys, exactly. That would be fun. That would be fun.
- 14:26Speaker 2: That would be fun.
- 14:27Speaker 1: I mean, but you never know, this guy is a
- 14:29Speaker 1: limit for her. So yeah, and she did mention on
- 14:32Speaker 1: the show that she has a surprise announcement.
- 14:35Speaker 2: She's working on something. I cannot wait. I think I yeah,
- 14:39Speaker 2: I'm with you. I can't wait. Wait.
- 14:41Speaker 1: So look, I'm gonna be sad whenever rides to tell,
- 14:45Speaker 1: whatever day she needs to tell, I'm gonna be sad.
- 14:47Speaker 2: I'm gonna have my tea, I'm gonna be ready to go.
- 14:49Speaker 1: My ears will be perked, like yes, tell me all
- 14:52Speaker 1: the good news.
- 14:54Speaker 2: So exactly you know, more good TV is coming? That's weird.
- 14:58Speaker 2: Oh yeah, more good TV. It's coming. Yeah.
- 15:01Speaker 1: So to all of our viewers, we again thank you
- 15:05Speaker 1: for coming along this journey with us. We just look
- 15:09Speaker 1: forward to continuing the authentic and genuine and humanizing conversations
- 15:16Speaker 1: with our talent, and we just we can't thank you
- 15:20Speaker 1: enough for being here, and we will chat with you
- 15:25Speaker 1: all next week.
