- 0:10Speaker 1: The Great Mike Golic Senior is with us. Yesterday was
- 0:13Speaker 1: an interesting day, Mike. Everyone's getting ready for the NBA Finals,
- 0:17Speaker 1: and the NFL said, not so fast, my friends, we
- 0:20Speaker 1: got some news for you.
- 0:21Speaker 2: And man, did they have news. An unbelievable day yesterday, Mike.
- 0:25Speaker 1: In the NFL, we all expected the AJ Brown trade
- 0:28Speaker 1: to happen yesterday. No one, and I mean no one
- 0:31Speaker 1: expected Miles Garrett to go from the Browns to the Rams.
- 0:34Speaker 2: What a day.
- 0:35Speaker 3: Well, I mean, kudos to the Rams, yes, and I
- 0:40Speaker 3: got I would say the Browns too for keeping this
- 0:42Speaker 3: thing under wraps, because very rarely do you not get
- 0:46Speaker 3: a blowing in the wind some sort of.
- 0:49Speaker 2: You know word.
- 0:50Speaker 3: Yes, because we all knew the AJ Brown thing was happening.
- 0:53Speaker 3: It just had to be post tuned first, right, which
- 0:55Speaker 3: just happened to be right about NBA Finals, So you know, yeah,
- 0:59Speaker 3: nothing you could do about that with a post June first, uh,
- 1:02Speaker 3: when it has to be postjuting first. But the Miles Garrett, man,
- 1:06Speaker 3: I mean, after all that went down, you gotta kind
- 1:08Speaker 3: of feel for Jared Verse, right Yeah.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Well, I don't know he's gonna get a new contract there.
- 1:13Speaker 3: So well, I mean yeah, he's gonna get a new contract.
- 1:15Speaker 3: He was gonna get paid if he stayed a Ram too.
- 1:18Speaker 3: I mean he's good. Yes, he's gonna make money. And
- 1:21Speaker 3: now he's going on a last place team.
- 1:23Speaker 1: To your point, he woke up as an La Ram
- 1:25Speaker 1: with a chance to win the Super Bowl and he
- 1:27Speaker 1: ended the day as a Cleveland brand with no chance
- 1:29Speaker 1: of winning anything.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:30Speaker 3: Yeah, and and he would have got money at both places.
- 1:34Speaker 3: So that's uh, that's up. But that's the business. Now.
- 1:37Speaker 3: You know that the the trades in the NFL have
- 1:41Speaker 3: really upped. The trade deadline has uped in value ever
- 1:45Speaker 3: since kind of Christian McCaffrey a few years ago. You
- 1:48Speaker 3: get players that make a difference in the back half
- 1:50Speaker 3: of a season. Uh So, trades now definitely are are
- 1:54Speaker 3: worth more than they used to be in the NFL.
- 1:58Speaker 4: Mike, can the Rams contain you like this? I mean
- 2:01Speaker 4: for years we're been told by thirty one. I felt
- 2:04Speaker 4: like it was thirty two teams you build through the draft,
- 2:07Speaker 4: that's how you build, and the Rams are just like, no,
- 2:09Speaker 4: we're not going to do that, and yet they continue
- 2:11Speaker 4: to have success.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Can he keep going? Yeah?
- 2:14Speaker 3: I mean some of the defensive players were all through
- 2:17Speaker 3: the draft. They had a young defense and that young
- 2:20Speaker 3: d line and backer room was draft picks, so they
- 2:26Speaker 3: kind of have built somewhat draft. But I think they
- 2:29Speaker 3: also understand their window of opportunity is open right now.
- 2:33Speaker 3: They give Stafford the extension, you know, he says, don't
- 2:36Speaker 3: worry about the Ty Simpson thing. You're our guy, And
- 2:39Speaker 3: they know their window is open for at least a
- 2:42Speaker 3: couple of more years. So you have to do whatever
- 2:44Speaker 3: you can to kind of stack that. But they actually
- 2:48Speaker 3: have done pretty well defensively in the draft, but they
- 2:52Speaker 3: they understand you only get so many shots, yeah, you
- 2:55Speaker 3: know at the crown. So their position, well, think about
- 2:58Speaker 3: last year the the freaking two point play yep that
- 3:03Speaker 3: they lost on with the fumble and the ends and
- 3:06Speaker 3: oh that Charbonnage just happens to pick up yes, not
- 3:08Speaker 3: even really thinking about it. I mean, what a flukey.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Play, right that was?
- 3:12Speaker 1: Without Miles Garrett, right, they would play away from the
- 3:15Speaker 1: Super Bowl. Now they have perhaps the greatest defensive end,
- 3:18Speaker 1: or one of the greatest defensive ends in the in
- 3:21Speaker 1: NFL history. Might the reason I like this so much
- 3:24Speaker 1: and the reason I like how the Rams operate so much,
- 3:27Speaker 1: is they got their quarterback to replace Stafford when he
- 3:29Speaker 1: decides to leave, which is ty Simpson. They got him
- 3:32Speaker 1: this year in the draft, and they traded away and
- 3:35Speaker 1: they kept a valuable commodity their draft pick next year
- 3:38Speaker 1: in a draft that's loaded with quarterbacks, and they sent
- 3:41Speaker 1: that to Cleveland and they got themselves one of the
- 3:44Speaker 1: best defensive ends in the history of the NFL. That
- 3:46Speaker 1: is how you operate a football team. It's why I'm
- 3:48Speaker 1: jealous of the La Rams.
- 3:51Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm not sold that ty Simpson's a quarterback of
- 3:54Speaker 3: the future, but they are to me. But they yes, right,
- 3:57Speaker 3: they are, and that's all that matters. They don't care
- 3:59Speaker 3: what I think. Yes, I'll wait, yes, we'll we'll we'll
- 4:03Speaker 3: wait and see on that. But they listen, much like
- 4:06Speaker 3: we think. The two best teams in the NBA are
- 4:10Speaker 3: the Spurs in Oklahoma City. The two best teams in
- 4:13Speaker 3: the NFL maybe the Rams and the Seahawks, Right.
- 4:16Speaker 2: Right, Yes, yes, you're right. Go ahead, Mikey.
- 4:20Speaker 4: Don't forget that. There's just a twelve win team that
- 4:22Speaker 4: was dealing with injuries just sitting there too in San Francisco.
- 4:25Speaker 4: But even with all that said, about how good that
- 4:29Speaker 4: one division is poor Arizona. Is it super Bowl or
- 4:33Speaker 4: bust for this team?
- 4:34Speaker 2: Yes? Like is this for the m Yeah, they just
- 4:37Speaker 2: went all in.
- 4:37Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, Miles Garrett, he was what thirty one, Yeah,
- 4:41Speaker 3: thirty thirty one years old. Yeah, they are all in
- 4:44Speaker 3: it for the next couple of years. They have basically
- 4:47Speaker 3: pushed all their chips to the middle and said that
- 4:50Speaker 3: this is our opportunity in the next couple of years.
- 4:53Speaker 3: We need to take advantage of it. Stafford's on his back, nine,
- 4:57Speaker 3: Miles Garrett. I mean, I know we set the record
- 5:00Speaker 3: last year. I doubt he'll slow down much. He's still
- 5:02Speaker 3: going to be a great player, but he's over thirty.
- 5:06Speaker 3: So yeah, you're definitely pushing the envelope.
- 5:09Speaker 2: Mike.
- 5:09Speaker 1: If you're Aaron Donald, who's in you peak physical condition,
- 5:13Speaker 1: and you see Miles Garrett coming and you know that
- 5:16Speaker 1: you don't have to.
- 5:16Speaker 2: Play the entire season.
- 5:18Speaker 1: All you have to do is tell McVeigh you want
- 5:20Speaker 1: to come back, or tell less need you want to
- 5:22Speaker 1: come back.
- 5:22Speaker 2: They'll figure out when you're coming back.
- 5:24Speaker 1: But do you think this is enough to pry Aaron
- 5:27Speaker 1: Donald out of retirement and back onto a football field, Because,
- 5:30Speaker 1: oh my god, Aaron Donald and Miles Garrett side by
- 5:33Speaker 1: side would be the greatest thing I've ever seen.
- 5:36Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll say this, if he was going to make
- 5:39Speaker 3: a comeback, this is the time, right, There will be
- 5:42Speaker 3: no other time but this time to make a comeback.
- 5:46Speaker 3: And I don't know Aaron Donald personally. I don't know
- 5:48Speaker 3: if he wants to come back and try and regain
- 5:52Speaker 3: what he had. And if he didn't, well, people say, oh,
- 5:55Speaker 3: he's he tried to do this and he's over the
- 5:57Speaker 3: hill and it won't affect his his walking into the
- 6:01Speaker 3: Hall of Fame by any stretch of the imagination. Just
- 6:04Speaker 3: push it personally for him going out on top, you know,
- 6:07Speaker 3: would he want to come back and maybe jeopardize that
- 6:10Speaker 3: for the possibility of winning you know, a Super Bowl?
- 6:14Speaker 3: Another super Bowl? So if it was going to happen,
- 6:20Speaker 3: it will happen very very soon.
- 6:22Speaker 2: Yes, I'd be surprised if he didn't.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Right, how many chances do you have to just walk
- 6:27Speaker 1: into a situation play with Miles Garrett and have a
- 6:30Speaker 1: chance of winning a Super Bowl?
- 6:31Speaker 2: Right?
- 6:32Speaker 3: I mean watching his workout videos crazy. Now, he's not
- 6:36Speaker 3: that far removed from playing, so you'll understand him keeping
- 6:40Speaker 3: his strength. But obviously he'd have to get into football
- 6:43Speaker 3: shape and all that. Now I don't know what he's doing.
- 6:45Speaker 3: Maybe he is doing drills. I have no idea. I
- 6:48Speaker 3: just see the frickin lifting ungodly weights and still looking
- 6:52Speaker 3: like the all pro guy that he is. Like I said,
- 6:56Speaker 3: if it is going to happen, it's going to happen
- 6:59Speaker 3: this year.
- 7:00Speaker 4: Year.
- 7:00Speaker 3: If it doesn't happen this year, it's not going to happen.
- 7:02Speaker 1: How long after you were done in the NFL, did
- 7:04Speaker 1: you keep yourself in game condition, in NFL condition or
- 7:08Speaker 1: were you out of condition by the time you were done?
- 7:10Speaker 3: No, I mean I was. I was how the norm retires.
- 7:15Speaker 3: I was retired, teams stopped calling. That's normally how a
- 7:20Speaker 3: career ends, where you don't get the choice to walk away.
- 7:24Speaker 3: That was after the ninety three season in Miami. I
- 7:27Speaker 3: kept working out. I ran for the Eagles, I ran
- 7:30Speaker 3: for the forty nine ers during the ninety four season,
- 7:33Speaker 3: still trying to get hooked up with a job, and
- 7:37Speaker 3: it didn't happen. I didn't get hooked up with anybody,
- 7:39Speaker 3: and I thought, Okay, I'm time to veer into the
- 7:42Speaker 3: next the next career.
- 7:44Speaker 2: But yeah, I.
- 7:46Speaker 3: Worked out that whole next football season looking for opportunities
- 7:50Speaker 3: to sign with teams.
- 7:51Speaker 2: Mikey A. I would say that veering to the next
- 7:53Speaker 2: career worked out well for Golic. What do you think,
- 7:56Speaker 2: I mean.
- 8:00Speaker 3: Someone unexpected? That's for sure.
- 8:01Speaker 1: It's the greatest vier in the history of veers. Mike, congratulations.

- 9:31Speaker 1: I'm gonna ask you the same question I just asked
- 9:33Speaker 1: Dominique Foxworth earlier today. Which team is closer to winning
- 9:36Speaker 1: the Super Bowl today based on what they did yesterday?
- 9:39Speaker 2: The Rams are the Patriots.
- 9:43Speaker 3: Oh, I think the Rams are. But the Rams have
- 9:48Speaker 3: a tougher road, yeah, because they have to get get
- 9:51Speaker 3: out of their own division. Could be a wild card, yes,
- 9:54Speaker 3: but I mean you have to play Seattle, the possibility
- 9:57Speaker 3: of three times right, just to make it the Super Bowl.
- 10:01Speaker 3: Where now the AFC, where we were like, oh, Buffalo, Baltimore,
- 10:05Speaker 3: Kansas City, Denver, We're like wow, and you're like, you know,
- 10:09Speaker 3: there's question marks on those teams. They're still really good teams.
- 10:14Speaker 2: No, but for the first time, there are question marks
- 10:15Speaker 2: with all four of those teams.
- 10:17Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah, But the road, So the roads
- 10:21Speaker 3: the Rams have to go through would be tougher again
- 10:24Speaker 3: three times against Seattle, But I think the Rams are
- 10:27Speaker 3: a better team than New England.
- 10:30Speaker 4: Okay, Mike, for those of us who really don't know
- 10:34Speaker 4: what we're watching, can you talk about sort of the
- 10:37Speaker 4: trickle down of adding a Miles Garrett to a defensive
- 10:41Speaker 4: line and what that does to the entirety of the
- 10:44Speaker 4: defense or even on the offensive side.
- 10:47Speaker 3: Well, while while Jared Verse was a two time Pro
- 10:50Speaker 3: Bowl or an excellent player and just twenty five years old,
- 10:54Speaker 3: you're game planning the Los Angeles Ram defense. Now you're
- 10:58Speaker 3: game planning the Los Angeles Rams defense, and you're also
- 11:01Speaker 3: game planning Miles Garrett. You have to know where Miles
- 11:04Speaker 3: Garrett is every single play, and if you block them
- 11:08Speaker 3: with one, the ball better come out quick. And sometimes
- 11:11Speaker 3: the defense will try and put their best pass rusher
- 11:14Speaker 3: to get one on one, like we would do with
- 11:16Speaker 3: Reggie in the forty six, where me and another d
- 11:19Speaker 3: lineman would cover the guards and he would be over
- 11:21Speaker 3: the center. They would try and you know, just have
- 11:23Speaker 3: to single block them with the center, and that was
- 11:26Speaker 3: usually a big advantage to Reggie. It's it's the fact
- 11:30Speaker 3: that they have to game plan for Miles Garrett. And
- 11:33Speaker 3: what that does is that frees up other players, right.
- 11:36Speaker 3: I mean we had Clyde Simmons, Jerome Brown, Reggie White.
- 11:39Speaker 3: It couldn't double all of them. So if they chose
- 11:42Speaker 3: to double one, that left another one with a one
- 11:44Speaker 3: on one block that you know that you had to win.
- 11:47Speaker 3: So what will open up issue situations for other players?
- 11:52Speaker 3: Just like Micah Parsons going to Green Bay. All of
- 11:55Speaker 3: a sudden, Rashan Gary is getting sacks while Mike is
- 11:58Speaker 3: on the field, mikeh gets hurt, goes off the field
- 12:00Speaker 3: Whereean Gary wasn't getting any more sacks. So it can
- 12:03Speaker 3: be it can help your teammate, but the main thing
- 12:06Speaker 3: is you've got a game plan that guy. You have
- 12:08Speaker 3: to have a game plan every single week for Miles Garrett.
- 12:11Speaker 1: It kind of reminds me of when the Heat got
- 12:13Speaker 1: Lebron and had Chris Bosh as well along with Dwayne Wade,
- 12:16Speaker 1: and I remember I can't remember the player's name, but
- 12:19Speaker 1: he was talking after a game saying, you know, they
- 12:21Speaker 1: tell me they tell us to double Lebron, And I'm like,
- 12:23Speaker 1: you want to leave Dwayne open? You want to leave
- 12:25Speaker 1: Bush open. It's like they make other players better. They're
- 12:29Speaker 1: not just great themselves. He's gonna make the whole team better.
- 12:31Speaker 1: I mean it's crazy.
- 12:32Speaker 3: Yes, he absolutely is. Give He'll give his defensive teammates
- 12:36Speaker 3: opportunity and then we'll see what those teammates do with
- 12:39Speaker 3: the opportunity.
- 12:40Speaker 2: Yes.
- 12:40Speaker 1: AJ Brown is such an interesting story to me, Mike,
- 12:43Speaker 1: because it appears that everyone loved AJ Brown inside of
- 12:47Speaker 1: that organization, and they loved them in Tennessee as well.
- 12:50Speaker 2: Rabel loved them. And now he's headed to New England.
- 12:53Speaker 2: It's just a.
- 12:54Speaker 1: Weird case where the guy is talented, he's young. Everyone
- 12:58Speaker 1: seems to like AJ Brown at the quarterback of the
- 13:00Speaker 1: Philadelphia Eagles.
- 13:02Speaker 3: Well, I don't. I don't know if it was a
- 13:05Speaker 3: personal thing or a professional thing. How the offense was run,
- 13:11Speaker 3: how Jalen Hurts played quarterback didn't fit a J. Brown
- 13:15Speaker 3: getting a lot of well a J. Brown would still
- 13:17Speaker 3: get targets, but it just it just didn't quite mesh
- 13:22Speaker 3: to which what AJ was used to. I mean, you
- 13:25Speaker 3: think about it now, I mean the difference that they have.
- 13:28Speaker 3: I mean, remember they picked up Romeo Dobbs as well.
- 13:31Speaker 3: They have Dobbs, they have a J.
- 13:32Speaker 2: Brown.
- 13:33Speaker 3: Uh so it's it's definitely more weapons for Drake May.
- 13:39Speaker 3: But I do think it was more on a professional
- 13:43Speaker 3: just to AJ's point, to AJ thought, I'm just not
- 13:48Speaker 3: mixing well in this offense, right.
- 13:50Speaker 1: My game doesn't work here? Yeah? Yeah, but he liked
- 13:53Speaker 1: Super Bowls. I mean who doesn't and he won one
- 13:55Speaker 1: there so in New England. Yeah, it's gonna be interesting
- 13:58Speaker 1: to see, uh kind of that plays out? What does
- 14:01Speaker 1: that do to the Philadelphia Eagles in your mind?
- 14:03Speaker 2: Mind?
- 14:04Speaker 3: Well, I mean the Eagles they have they have a
- 14:07Speaker 3: lot of bodies, right, I mean, and Devonte Smith is
- 14:10Speaker 3: gonna be is gonna be the guy obviously you want
- 14:15Speaker 3: to and they pick up They get Mackay Lemon, who
- 14:18Speaker 3: I really like out of USC a lot quite honestly.
- 14:24Speaker 3: They have to get the running game going again, right,
- 14:26Speaker 3: which means that offensive line needs to be healthy and
- 14:29Speaker 3: they need to get Saquon Barkley going because Jalen Hurts again,
- 14:33Speaker 3: is not a forty five hundred yard a year passer,
- 14:36Speaker 3: a thirty five touchdown passer. That's just not what he is.
- 14:42Speaker 3: The most touchdowns he has was last year was twenty
- 14:45Speaker 3: five eighteen twenty three, twenty two, the most he's passed
- 14:49Speaker 3: for is thirty eight hundred yards. So they're not going
- 14:53Speaker 3: to do it by massive quarterback numbers. So they have
- 14:57Speaker 3: to get that running game going again, which which means
- 15:00Speaker 3: the offensive line, and it's something you can't control. They
- 15:03Speaker 3: need to say obviously healthy, but but I think that's
- 15:07Speaker 3: that's really more the key than anything else for the
- 15:10Speaker 3: Philadelphia offense. Offense is to get that running game going again.
- 15:14Speaker 4: Mike, would you be shocked if neither the Rams nor
- 15:17Speaker 4: the Patriots. I will throw Philly in there.
- 15:22Speaker 2: If none of them mad. It'd be great if none
- 15:25Speaker 2: of them made it, though, it would be I.
- 15:26Speaker 3: Mean, who why couldn't Seattle go back to that?
- 15:30Speaker 2: Correct?
- 15:31Speaker 3: I mean, they're they're an execrac you mentioned San Francisco.
- 15:35Speaker 3: I mean, if they they stay out of out of injuries.
- 15:39Speaker 3: I'm not really sure who else, Chicago, Detroit maybe though
- 15:43Speaker 3: possibly Detroit. But really it's it's in that It's in
- 15:47Speaker 3: that NFC West and in the a f C. We
- 15:50Speaker 3: talked about, you know, uh, the downfall, not the downfall,
- 15:54Speaker 3: the the the minuses for some of the teams. But
- 15:57Speaker 3: they're still good teams. You still have Josh Allen Lamar Jackson.
- 16:01Speaker 3: You hope he's healthy, right, you know bo Nicks gets healthy. Uh.
- 16:05Speaker 3: And what Denver did obviously mahomes gearing up for week
- 16:08Speaker 3: one to come back, and they made some some shifts
- 16:11Speaker 3: to the UH, to the defense as well. So let's
- 16:14Speaker 3: see if they can regain. No, while those teams will
- 16:18Speaker 3: be listed as one of the favorites on any book
- 16:21Speaker 3: you look at, if they don't make it, it would
- 16:24Speaker 3: not It wouldn't surprise me, especially in the in the
- 16:27Speaker 3: UH nationally because of Seattle.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Mike, It's interesting, who would you compare Miles Garrett too?
- 16:35Speaker 1: Like to me, he's the closest thing I've seen.
- 16:37Speaker 2: To Reggie White. But you played with Reggie White, So
- 16:39Speaker 2: what's the comparatives.
- 16:40Speaker 3: Yeah, the difference there is. Reggie was six six three
- 16:44Speaker 3: fifteen Jesus, I mean Miles is six six six five
- 16:49Speaker 3: sixty six two seventy five. You know, Reggie lined up
- 16:52Speaker 3: over the center. Reggie lined up over over anybody. Reggie
- 16:56Speaker 3: had the speed he ran. I watched him run of
- 16:59Speaker 3: four to six. He was the strongest weightlifter in the
- 17:03Speaker 3: room as well, and he had great leverage. I mean
- 17:06Speaker 3: he literally had everything. Miles Garrett Miles. Garrett is probably
- 17:11Speaker 3: a better athlete overall. And I mean, and I don't
- 17:16Speaker 3: know his weight room strength, but whatever it is, it's
- 17:19Speaker 3: fine whether he has it or not, because he plays
- 17:21Speaker 3: with great quickness and leverage. It's tough to compare because
- 17:25Speaker 3: there's a forty pound difference in them in those two
- 17:31Speaker 3: guys and Miles. Now, Miles occasionally will stand up over
- 17:34Speaker 3: the center and do kind of that basketball thing, but
- 17:37Speaker 3: for the most part he comes off the edge, and
- 17:39Speaker 3: really for the most part Reggie did as well. That
- 17:42Speaker 3: was that was a little more true defensive ends. Because
- 17:45Speaker 3: Clyde was close to three hundred and Reggie was over
- 17:47Speaker 3: three hundred. They were close from more to seven techniques.
- 17:53Speaker 1: Mikey A, You and I had the same reaction. It
- 17:56Speaker 1: was the forty time for Reggie White, right, of all
- 17:58Speaker 1: the things he listed, it was the forty time.
- 18:00Speaker 2: What was the forty time again for six? Well, I
- 18:03Speaker 2: mean he.
- 18:04Speaker 3: And he and Jerome ran raced one time, and Jerome
- 18:09Speaker 3: ran barefoot right, and Jerome got out of the gate
- 18:13Speaker 3: quicker than Reggie. He got off the ball quicker than.
- 18:17Speaker 2: Reggie's so he had a head start kind of right.
- 18:19Speaker 3: So because because he was quick. Yes, I mean, Jerome
- 18:22Speaker 3: was so known for taking all the ball and just
- 18:25Speaker 3: coming off the ball. Yes, but then Reggie passed him,
- 18:27Speaker 3: you know during the length of the forties. Yeah, for
- 18:29Speaker 3: six Yeah, I mean just rude, Yes, I mean just
- 18:34Speaker 3: just he had everything.
- 18:35Speaker 1: I love when he starts talking about Jerome Brown, Mike Hea,
- 18:38Speaker 1: because it's almost like there is excitement in his voice
- 18:41Speaker 1: and disappointment because he wanted to see how that thing
- 18:44Speaker 1: was going to play out, right, You wanted to see
- 18:46Speaker 1: it so badly.
- 18:47Speaker 3: I mean, I have no doubt again, right, I was.
- 18:51Speaker 3: I was a better friend to him then. You know,
- 18:54Speaker 3: there's teammates, there's acquaintances during your time, but you have friends.
- 18:57Speaker 3: And we had that Philly team before free agency, so
- 19:00Speaker 3: there wasn't a lot of movements, so we really a
- 19:02Speaker 3: lot of us became pretty close, and Jerome and I
- 19:04Speaker 3: were very close. But to see what he could do
- 19:07Speaker 3: on the football field, yeah, because he didn't lift much, right, what, Yes, No,
- 19:15Speaker 3: his quickness and leverage. I remember announcers used to say
- 19:19Speaker 3: he was one of the strongest players in the league,
- 19:21Speaker 3: and he wasn't anywhere near one of the strongest players
- 19:24Speaker 3: in the league. But when you play with great leverage.
- 19:27Speaker 3: It you look like, Wow, that guy's got to be
- 19:31Speaker 3: strong in the weight room. His leverage because of his
- 19:33Speaker 3: quickness was was almost unmatched.
- 19:36Speaker 4: There's some alternate universe Stu gots where where Jerome Brown
- 19:40Speaker 4: and Reggie Wright are like, Yeah, but did you ever
- 19:42Speaker 4: see Golic run? You ever see how fast he was
- 19:45Speaker 4: out of the gate? Did you ever see that guy
- 19:48Speaker 4: in the weight room?
- 19:48Speaker 3: Oh? Man, I don't know where that universe is. Like,
- 19:52Speaker 3: that's a that's a far far away imaginary universe.
- 19:56Speaker 2: What is the fastest forty you ran?
- 19:58Speaker 3: Mike A, I think I ran a four to seven.
- 20:02Speaker 4: Jesus, what are we talking about here?
- 20:07Speaker 2: He never gives himself enough credit. Ever.
- 20:09Speaker 3: This is when I was like two fifty to sixty.
- 20:12Speaker 3: These guys two fifty two sixty, they're running four fours
- 20:15Speaker 3: and four threes now now now, but not then. Yeah.
- 20:20Speaker 3: I was a really good athlete for a split second
- 20:25Speaker 3: in my career, and then I put my hand in
- 20:27Speaker 3: the dirt and that was that was.
- 20:29Speaker 1: I am told that GOLDI junior at Notre Dame ran
- 20:32Speaker 1: a five three eight forty about that.
- 20:34Speaker 3: Yeah he did. He was a little over three hundred pounds,
- 20:38Speaker 3: ran a forty that it was a five three. I
- 20:41Speaker 3: I every time I watched the combine, I cringe at
- 20:46Speaker 3: an offensive lineman running a forty. It is the biggest
- 20:50Speaker 3: waste of time and potential injury there is there. They
- 20:54Speaker 3: should never go past twenty yards. There's no need to
- 20:58Speaker 3: have a time on them in the forty. Yeah, they're
- 21:01Speaker 3: ten and twenty are are way more important.
- 21:04Speaker 1: I agree with everything you just said, But what Mike
- 21:06Speaker 1: ran the five three eight? Did you let him know
- 21:08Speaker 1: that you ran a four to seven? I mean, did
- 21:10Speaker 1: you give him a hard time?
- 21:10Speaker 3: Listen, Yes, when you have fun and compare careers, there
- 21:15Speaker 3: was never a comparison in speed that was never even debated.
- 21:20Speaker 3: You know, because because basically through my time at Notre
- 21:23Speaker 3: Dame I was a linebacker. I was supposed to be,
- 21:26Speaker 3: you know, a pretty good athlete.
- 21:27Speaker 2: I didn't.
- 21:28Speaker 3: I didn't go down on the line until I got
- 21:30Speaker 3: to the NFL and gained some weight, right, So, yeah,
- 21:33Speaker 3: the speed was always He was stronger than me in
- 21:36Speaker 3: the weight room, and I was faster than him on
- 21:38Speaker 3: the field.
- 21:39Speaker 2: Mike, in a weird way. We'll get you out here
- 21:41Speaker 2: in just a second.
- 21:42Speaker 1: I don't know if you buy into stuff like this
- 21:44Speaker 1: I do just having that chip on your shoulder at
- 21:47Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts is already accomplished so much. Do you think
- 21:49Speaker 1: there's a part of Jalen that wants to show AJ Brown, hey,
- 21:51Speaker 1: you made the wrong decision.
- 21:52Speaker 2: You should have stayed here.
- 21:54Speaker 3: Yeah, sure, sure, because because the AJ Brown situation and
- 22:00Speaker 3: in Philadelphia was basically centered around Jalen Hurts. Yes, right, yes,
- 22:05Speaker 3: so yes, I think Jalen would like to win it
- 22:09Speaker 3: now that he's gone win it and just know in
- 22:11Speaker 3: his mind, yeah, okay, didn't need you and we still
- 22:14Speaker 3: want a title. Yeah.
- 22:15Speaker 1: I hope the receiver that takes over for a J
- 22:17Speaker 1: Brown has two thousand yards receiving this year.
- 22:21Speaker 3: It's gonna be wild. All going to depend on their
- 22:24Speaker 3: running game.
- 22:25Speaker 1: Right, And on the flip side, AJ is going to
- 22:27Speaker 1: be equally as motivated. He will oh yes, yeah.
- 22:29Speaker 3: With a question, and he thinks I got a passing
- 22:32Speaker 3: quarterback now, so we'll see.
- 22:34Speaker 1: Time will tell, all right, Michael, busy day in the
- 22:37Speaker 1: NFL yesterday, quickly on the NBA Finals. Here you have
- 22:40Speaker 1: the Knicks winning, and how many games I'm putting words
- 22:42Speaker 1: in your mouth?
- 22:44Speaker 3: I got, I got, I got San Antonio in six
- 22:47Speaker 3: games things. Two things that that I'm going to watch
- 22:52Speaker 3: for against Cleveland Jalen Brunson in New York, they would
- 22:56Speaker 3: run picks and switches and Jalen would end up on
- 23:00Speaker 3: on James Harden, and that would be a gimmey. There's
- 23:04Speaker 3: nobody on San Antonio that's James Harden. Defensively, they are
- 23:08Speaker 3: all way better defensive players, way better defensive players. And
- 23:14Speaker 3: so Jalen, now is a great player, is not going
- 23:17Speaker 3: to have the ease of dribbling by a James Harden
- 23:22Speaker 3: esque player. And I'll be interested to see how who
- 23:27Speaker 3: Wemby covers, because if he tries to cover Karl Anthony Towns,
- 23:32Speaker 3: Kat's just gonna go up at the top of the
- 23:33Speaker 3: key and play around the three point line and pull
- 23:36Speaker 3: Wemby out of the paint. Wemby is such a deterrent
- 23:38Speaker 3: in the paint that I believe that's where he is
- 23:41Speaker 3: going to be, to be the threat that he's going
- 23:44Speaker 3: to be. We know he's a threat on the offensive end,
- 23:46Speaker 3: but on the defensive end, I'm sure the Knicks will
- 23:49Speaker 3: try and pull him out of the paint.
- 23:51Speaker 1: Yeah, they'll do it with Towns. He's one of the
- 23:52Speaker 1: few guys that could do it. And you're right about brunts,
- 23:55Speaker 1: and it's Dylan Harper, it's the Aaron Fox. This is
- 23:57Speaker 1: not James Harden And when he gets past those guys,
- 23:59Speaker 1: they'll be met by Wenby in the rim.
- 24:01Speaker 3: That's exactly right. It's amazing guys that go in the
- 24:05Speaker 3: paint on Wenby, how they detour out of there, how.
- 24:08Speaker 1: We impact every single shot and thought that they have
- 24:11Speaker 1: all right, I'm convinced Spurs in six.
- 24:13Speaker 2: Damn it. Sorry, I'm teezing. God bless football, play, God
- 24:19Speaker 2: bless me
