- 0:05Speaker 1: NFL Now is a production of the NFL in partnership
- 0:08Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio. It is a good Friday, It is a
- 0:20Speaker 1: Master's Friday. It is a let's call it a football Friday.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Welcome to NFL Now on NFL Network from our newsroom
- 0:26Speaker 1: in Los Angeles. My name is Andrew Ceciliano. We are
- 0:29Speaker 1: twenty days away from the NFL Draft, twenty days away
- 0:34Speaker 1: from finally figuring out who's going where. We'll get to
- 0:38Speaker 1: Chad Writer's mock draft. It's a big one, four rounds
- 0:41Speaker 1: coming up shortly. Let's get to the quarterbacks, though, because
- 0:45Speaker 1: you have c. J. Stroud and Bryce Scott, right, But
- 0:48Speaker 1: what about Anthon and richards What about the guy that
- 0:51Speaker 1: Chad has going three overall to Indianapolis? What if I
- 0:55Speaker 1: told you he's visiting the team that currently has the
- 0:58Speaker 1: seventh overall pick. Is there a chance he gets to Vegas? Maybe?
- 1:05Speaker 1: But he's getting there himself right now. Let's bring him.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Mike Garafolo bringing Cam wolf Camp, start with you. The
- 1:11Speaker 1: Raiders have done a lot of work at quarterback. They're
- 1:13Speaker 1: bringing them all in, including Anthony Richardson. Yeah, Anthony Richardson's
- 1:17Speaker 1: world tour begins and it starts in Las Vegas. He
- 1:20Speaker 1: actually got there yesterday, will also visit there today and
- 1:23Speaker 1: it's the first of six trips he has scheduled. He'll
- 1:26Speaker 1: also go to Carolina for two days Sunday and Monday,
- 1:29Speaker 1: and then Indianapolis a couple of days as well a
- 1:32Speaker 1: little bit later, and then the week after he has
- 1:35Speaker 1: three trips set up with the Titans, the Falcons, and
- 1:38Speaker 1: the Ravens in that order to visit those teams. In
- 1:41Speaker 1: these top thirty visits, you get up to thirty visits
- 1:43Speaker 1: each team does to visit prospects to get more information
- 1:47Speaker 1: about these players and so you can get them on
- 1:49Speaker 1: the board, which Anthony Richardson did a great job with
- 1:52Speaker 1: during the combine, getting learning more about them and ask
- 1:55Speaker 1: more questions about what one scout described to me as
- 1:57Speaker 1: maybe the most interesting prospect in the draft. Only thirteen starts.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Completion percentage isn't great, but he has an immense potential
- 2:05Speaker 1: to take a stab at. And so some of those
- 2:07Speaker 1: teams we mentioned, the Raiders done a lot of homework there,
- 2:09Speaker 1: the Colts, and then some of those teams in the
- 2:11Speaker 1: back end of that week, could they make a trade
- 2:14Speaker 1: up that number three spot in Arizona, which is what
- 2:16Speaker 1: trad writer had the Colts trading into could be a
- 2:19Speaker 1: very intriguing spot going into draft week. Who falls in
- 2:22Speaker 1: love with Anthony Richardson and maybe trades up to get
- 2:25Speaker 1: their guy. Yeah, when a guy has a lot of
- 2:28Speaker 1: visits CAM, that tells me that there's intrigue there. Number one,
- 2:32Speaker 1: because you wouldn't waste your time if you didn't think
- 2:34Speaker 1: enough of him as a player. But two, you've got
- 2:36Speaker 1: a lot of questions or you maybe you want to
- 2:38Speaker 1: get some more time and get a field for something.
- 2:39Speaker 1: And you talked about Anthony Richardson and his ability to
- 2:43Speaker 1: when he gets up on the board. That means when
- 2:45Speaker 1: they bring him into the facility, ask him to draw
- 2:48Speaker 1: stuff up, maybe give him something, and then test his
- 2:50Speaker 1: recall later on. These are the kind of things that
- 2:53Speaker 1: you want to see from a quarterback in the NFL,
- 2:56Speaker 1: and you want to know that he's got the ability
- 2:58Speaker 1: to learn the finer points of the game, understand the
- 3:00Speaker 1: finer points of the game, and be able to do
- 3:02Speaker 1: that because look, we know the ability. You're seeing it
- 3:04Speaker 1: right now. His pro day, his work at the Combine spectacular.
- 3:08Speaker 1: From a physical standpoint, there are no questions about Anthony
- 3:11Speaker 1: Richardson and his ability to do things on the field.
- 3:13Speaker 1: It's more about does he understand the position the way
- 3:16Speaker 1: it needs to be played at the NFL level. Well,
- 3:18Speaker 1: that's why these visits, which are not workouts, they are visits,
- 3:22Speaker 1: they are conversations, they are meetings, is a chance to
- 3:24Speaker 1: get to those finer points of the game and see
- 3:27Speaker 1: if you feel comfortable enough with Anthony Richardson in that regard.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Marry it with what you saw on the field during
- 3:33Speaker 1: the season and in his workouts and say, Okay, this
- 3:35Speaker 1: is a guy that we either take if he's there
- 3:38Speaker 1: when we're there, or maybe even go up to get him. Yeah,
- 3:40Speaker 1: and I'm glad you pointed that out. It's not a workout.
- 3:43Speaker 1: You can't do that at a team facility. That is forbidden.
- 3:47Speaker 1: You can, as they say, put it on the board.
- 3:49Speaker 1: Not Hawk Harrelson, but you know, like the white board
- 3:51Speaker 1: like you do with moos. This is a board as well.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Thank you, Cam by the way, this is a board
- 3:56Speaker 1: of Daniel Jeremiah. Actually it's a social that we're making
- 3:58Speaker 1: into a board. But that's a little too inside. Bryce Young, C. J. Stroud,
- 4:02Speaker 1: Anthony Richardson, Will Levis Hended Hooker, how DJ ranks his quarterbacks. Mike,
- 4:07Speaker 1: Let's go back to the Raiders here, because I said before,
- 4:10Speaker 1: they're doing a lot of work on the quarterbacks, including
- 4:13Speaker 1: bringing in CJ. Struck, who no one thinks is going
- 4:15Speaker 1: to be there at seven. This isn't like a bull
- 4:17Speaker 1: Callahan trade up to one and all of a sudden,
- 4:19Speaker 1: out of nowhere deal. This is just in case. It's
- 4:23Speaker 1: in case, but it's also Look, you don't know how
- 4:25Speaker 1: things are gonna go. You don't know how things are
- 4:27Speaker 1: gonna go now. You don't know how they're going to
- 4:28Speaker 1: go a couple of years from now. You also, if
- 4:30Speaker 1: you're the Raiders, seemingly have committed to exploring all of
- 4:34Speaker 1: these quarterback options. So you worked out are you met
- 4:37Speaker 1: with Bryce Young at his pro day? You brought him
- 4:40Speaker 1: in as well. They're bringing in CJ. Strout next week.
- 4:42Speaker 1: They're also bringing in Hendon Hooker. They're talking to Anthony
- 4:45Speaker 1: Richardson like they want to get a full picture of
- 4:47Speaker 1: this entire quarterback lass, and they've done so much work
- 4:50Speaker 1: here that to me, it would almost be a surprise
- 4:52Speaker 1: if they don't take a quarterback relatively early or really
- 4:56Speaker 1: early in this draft. Sitting there at number seven, and look,
- 4:59Speaker 1: they've got themselves Jimmy Garoppolo. They also have themselves Brian Hoyer. Now,
- 5:02Speaker 1: so they've got two veterans. So there's no rush necessarily
- 5:06Speaker 1: to get a guy ready to play. So we may
- 5:08Speaker 1: say that those top two guys, Bryce Young, CJ. Stroud,
- 5:12Speaker 1: who again they have spent time with, those are the
- 5:14Speaker 1: guys that are ready to play right now. But potentially
- 5:16Speaker 1: if they take somebody else, they don't have to rush
- 5:18Speaker 1: that guy in there. So yeah, even if CJ. Stroud's
- 5:21Speaker 1: gone and Bryce Young's gone, you may say, well, look,
- 5:23Speaker 1: we took a look at the entire class and one
- 5:25Speaker 1: of these other guys matched up pretty well with them,
- 5:28Speaker 1: so we feel comfortable taking him as well. So that
- 5:30Speaker 1: seems to be the path that the Raiders are on
- 5:32Speaker 1: here pre draft. Andrew, And another good point about using
- 5:35Speaker 1: these meetings. You file it away. You know, a couple
- 5:38Speaker 1: of years from now, this guy might become available and
- 5:41Speaker 1: you can go back, did we have a good impression
- 5:42Speaker 1: of that player then during the pre draft process. I
- 5:45Speaker 1: remember a couple of years ago at the Senior Bowl,
- 5:47Speaker 1: player was kind of shrugging her shoulders. Why would meet
- 5:49Speaker 1: with this team. I'm going to be gone by the
- 5:51Speaker 1: time they pick. Yeah, right, but everyone knows everyone and
- 5:55Speaker 1: this information may come into handy a little bit later.
- 5:58Speaker 1: All right, thank you, Gerifolo. Let's get onto the shadow
- 6:01Speaker 1: Writer mock Draftier version two point zero, and it includes
- 6:05Speaker 1: four rounds, four rounds and seven trades. Five of those
- 6:08Speaker 1: trades in the first round. Anthony Richardson at three with
- 6:12Speaker 1: the Colts and the Cardinals swapping picks, Will Levis at
- 6:17Speaker 1: ten with the Vikings trading up from twenty three. That
- 6:20Speaker 1: right now is Philadelphia's pick, as we bring in Judy
- 6:24Speaker 1: Batista and James Palmer. High guys, James. A lot of
- 6:27Speaker 1: things stand out here, like pick five. Yeah, pick five's
- 6:33Speaker 1: interesting to me. Now, there's nothing wrong with three corners
- 6:35Speaker 1: going in the top fifteen, but it's interesting that you
- 6:38Speaker 1: don't see Devin Witherspoon's name there is DJ has him
- 6:41Speaker 1: as the sixth best prospect in this entire draft, and
- 6:44Speaker 1: you see Joey Porter Junior checks a lot of boxes
- 6:46Speaker 1: the size that it fits in Seattle. But what I
- 6:49Speaker 1: really look at, Andrew, is that this team was thirtieth
- 6:51Speaker 1: against the run this past season. They had a very
- 6:54Speaker 1: difficult time getting off the field on third down is
- 6:56Speaker 1: because teams were in third and short so much. This
- 6:58Speaker 1: is a big concern in the front seven stopping the
- 7:01Speaker 1: run for general manager John Schneider. And I look that
- 7:05Speaker 1: in this mock you only have Will Anderson off that's it.
- 7:08Speaker 1: You could go Tyree Wilson, you could go Jalyn Carter.
- 7:10Speaker 1: You could get an edge to go rush the quarterback.
- 7:13Speaker 1: You could get Carter in the middle to stuff the run.
- 7:15Speaker 1: And I mentioned edge because they haven't had a double
- 7:18Speaker 1: digit sack player in a season since twenty and eighteen
- 7:22Speaker 1: with Frank Clark, and their two highest sack total players
- 7:25Speaker 1: from this past season are both on expiring contracts. So
- 7:28Speaker 1: and there's some teams that I've talked to Edrew that
- 7:30Speaker 1: like Wilson more than Anderson. So it's interesting that you
- 7:33Speaker 1: don't go up front with Seattle there at five. The
- 7:36Speaker 1: other point that sticks out of me, Judy, really is
- 7:38Speaker 1: Dalton Kincaide down there at twenty six. I think that
- 7:42Speaker 1: would be a steal for the Dallas Cowboys to replaces
- 7:44Speaker 1: Dalton Schultz put him in the middle of the field
- 7:46Speaker 1: with Seedee Lamb and newly acquired Brandon Cooks. I think
- 7:49Speaker 1: that's a slam dunk pick for the Dallas Cowboys down
- 7:51Speaker 1: there at number twenty six. Judy, what stands out to you?
- 7:54Speaker 1: Hear the quarterbacks certainly, you know are going to get
- 7:57Speaker 1: the headlines. There's no question. I think the Colts moving
- 8:00Speaker 1: up to three to take Anthony Richardson. I am intrigued
- 8:04Speaker 1: by that, and I think that would be one of
- 8:05Speaker 1: the most interesting scenarios if it plays out. In part
- 8:09Speaker 1: because we were just talking about it. All of his
- 8:12Speaker 1: big play potential, right, the potential for dynamic plays with
- 8:15Speaker 1: his arm and his legs. But he's a raw talent
- 8:19Speaker 1: and he needs work on that. They just hired Shane's
- 8:22Speaker 1: second for exactly this reason, to develop a young quarterback.
- 8:26Speaker 1: We saw what he did with Jalen Hurd. They have
- 8:29Speaker 1: Gardner Minshew on the roster. He can hold the fort
- 8:33Speaker 1: while they work on Anthony Richardson. Jim Mercy, the owner,
- 8:36Speaker 1: has talked about wanting to draft a quarterback and developing
- 8:39Speaker 1: a young quarterback. They need to get off the veteran
- 8:42Speaker 1: quarterback merry go round, and I think this would be
- 8:44Speaker 1: the most interesting pick, maybe of the entire first round.
- 8:48Speaker 1: The other pick I'm really interested that Chad has is
- 8:52Speaker 1: the Bill's going with a pass rusher, Nolan Smith. We
- 8:55Speaker 1: saw them go after Von Miller last year. It looked
- 8:58Speaker 1: great while Von was healthy, and as soon as Von
- 9:02Speaker 1: got hurt in the middle of the season last year,
- 9:04Speaker 1: you saw that pass rush with her, and you saw
- 9:07Speaker 1: it especially it really hit them in the playoffs when
- 9:10Speaker 1: they could not get to Joe Burrow and you thought, wow,
- 9:13Speaker 1: that Cincinnati offensive line looked really good. In Then the
- 9:15Speaker 1: next week the Cincinnati offensive line faced the Chiefs, and
- 9:18Speaker 1: you realize it wasn't so much the Cincinnati offensive line
- 9:21Speaker 1: that looked so good. It was the Bills pass rush
- 9:23Speaker 1: that didn't look so good. They need to shore it up.
- 9:26Speaker 1: Von Miller is approaching what we think would be the
- 9:29Speaker 1: end of his career, so they need to get young
- 9:31Speaker 1: pass rushers in there. I like that pick for the Bills.
- 9:35Speaker 1: Curious von Miller's opinion here as well as he has
- 9:38Speaker 1: been in essence shadowing, if not interning for and with
- 9:42Speaker 1: Brandon Bean the Bills GM, who's actually at the combine
- 9:46Speaker 1: kind of like you know GM for a day right
- 9:50Speaker 1: along there. So let's get Von on the phone. Thank you, Judy,
- 9:52Speaker 1: thank you, James Chad Writer's mock draft right now available
- 9:56Speaker 1: on NFL dot Com, all four rounds of it. We're
- 9:58Speaker 1: getting closer. We are twenty days away from the NFL Draft.
- 10:02Speaker 1: Its presented by Verizon Kansas City and you can be there.
- 10:08Speaker 1: The NFL Draft experience is presented by Panini, trading cards,
- 10:12Speaker 1: interactive games, player autographs, so much more slash raft access
- 10:17Speaker 1: everybody coming up next? The latest on Aaron Rodgers. He's
- 10:21Speaker 1: working out evidently with Alan Lazarre. What does it mean next?
- 10:33Speaker 1: Presented to you by Ike. Let's look at the Aaron
- 10:35Speaker 1: Rodgers offseason timeline. Here he says, retirement decision after the
- 10:40Speaker 1: Super Bowl. Then he went into darkness, then he came
- 10:44Speaker 1: out of the darkness. Then he said he wanted to
- 10:47Speaker 1: be a Jet. That came after meeting with the Jets
- 10:50Speaker 1: and ownership. We are still waiting for some kind of
- 10:53Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers movement, a trade, anything. But can I interest
- 10:57Speaker 1: you in this? Can I interest you in an Alan
- 11:00Speaker 1: Lazard Instagram story of the two of them running. Probably
- 11:04Speaker 1: know this is four years old, but it isn't. We
- 11:06Speaker 1: think it's like recently in California. Can't confirm it ane
- 11:09Speaker 1: other metadata, but Jeff Chidia, that's the kind of world
- 11:13Speaker 1: we live in now. We are Instagram sleuths trying to
- 11:15Speaker 1: put together NFL storylines here in the off season other
- 11:18Speaker 1: than Aaron Rodgers. Is there a quarterback storyline that you
- 11:21Speaker 1: find here most interesting three weeks before the draft? So
- 11:26Speaker 1: Bock Party interests me because he was such a great
- 11:29Speaker 1: story at the end of last year before we got
- 11:31Speaker 1: banged up with that albow injury, had the albow surgery
- 11:34Speaker 1: in March, you know, a little bit later than they
- 11:36Speaker 1: wanted to because of inflammation, and so now we're going
- 11:38Speaker 1: to see when he's going to be available. They're talking
- 11:40Speaker 1: about this being a six months process. But what's more
- 11:43Speaker 1: intriguing about this is the fact that general magner John
- 11:45Speaker 1: Lynch came out the owners meetings and said that this
- 11:48Speaker 1: is the guy who should be in the league to
- 11:50Speaker 1: be our starting quarterback next year. And so what does
- 11:53Speaker 1: that mean for Trey Lance. We don't know, but I
- 11:54Speaker 1: think it all out depends on how fast about Party recovers.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Because we saw we went to that offense, we saw
- 12:00Speaker 1: he's one of the darlings of the postseason, and if
- 12:02Speaker 1: he's right, this team once again being content for the
- 12:05Speaker 1: NFC championship. A lot of people think that Sean Payton
- 12:08Speaker 1: can turn things around. Meantime, another storyline here in the
- 12:10Speaker 1: AFC and be in contention there, at least in the
- 12:12Speaker 1: AFC West. That's another storyline where you're like, man, I
- 12:17Speaker 1: don't know how this is going to turn out, but
- 12:19Speaker 1: I'm interested. Yeah, And maybe I'm more optimistic than most
- 12:24Speaker 1: people are about this, But I believe Russell Wilson is
- 12:26Speaker 1: not the guy who saw last year that he can
- 12:29Speaker 1: be back somewhere closer to what he was in Seattle,
- 12:32Speaker 1: and Sean Payton will have a lot to do with that.
- 12:35Speaker 1: And what I love about what Sean Payton has done,
- 12:37Speaker 1: He's gotten to Denver, He's really tried to fortify the
- 12:40Speaker 1: supporting cast around him. You saw him going to free agency,
- 12:43Speaker 1: get a couple of good lining with Mike McGlinchey and
- 12:45Speaker 1: been powers. You see the way he's running the football
- 12:49Speaker 1: in New Orleans that help Drew Breeze out. I think
- 12:51Speaker 1: that will be a big part of the offense here.
- 12:54Speaker 1: And mean, he's also getting some guys back like Garrett
- 12:56Speaker 1: Bowles and Tim Patrick and Devonte Williams. All these guys
- 13:00Speaker 1: should help Russell Wilson play at a higher level. But
- 13:02Speaker 1: more than anything else. Sean Payton can show him the
- 13:05Speaker 1: magic formula, which is you don't have to be cooking
- 13:07Speaker 1: all the time. You just have to have a lot
- 13:09Speaker 1: of good people around you in the kitchen. So Aaron
- 13:11Speaker 1: Rodgers is a future Hall of Famer that could be
- 13:13Speaker 1: on the move. Russell Wilson, potentially future Hall of Famer
- 13:17Speaker 1: DeAndre Hopkins might make that same claim one day as well.
- 13:20Speaker 1: He is still a cardinal for now, Jeff, but it's
- 13:24Speaker 1: a matter of time, it is. And look, I thought
- 13:28Speaker 1: Dallas made a lot of sense before they went and
- 13:30Speaker 1: got Brandon Cooks. But there's still going to be a
- 13:32Speaker 1: lot of intriguing options for him because he's willing to
- 13:36Speaker 1: work with that big contract. He's old, thirty three million dollars.
- 13:39Speaker 1: We know that's the huge number for a guy who's
- 13:41Speaker 1: in his thirties. But again, he's been productive and he
- 13:44Speaker 1: wants to be a part of a winning team. I
- 13:47Speaker 1: know that. Within our own network, we voted the idea
- 13:49Speaker 1: of Buffalo being a player in this, and I love
- 13:52Speaker 1: the idea of that because they are still very much
- 13:55Speaker 1: a Super Bowl Championship contending team. And if you add
- 13:57Speaker 1: him to the mix with Stefine Diggs and gave Davis
- 14:00Speaker 1: and Josh Allen that offense goes to a different level.
- 14:02Speaker 1: So somebody's going to make a move on this guy
- 14:05Speaker 1: because he's too good still be sitting there on the
- 14:07Speaker 1: trade market. All right, you mentioned Buffalo. What's the deal
- 14:09Speaker 1: with von Millery mentioned he's interning as a GM if
- 14:12Speaker 1: you will. He's also trying to come back from a
- 14:14Speaker 1: big knee injury on Thanksgiving. Yeah, And the thing about
- 14:18Speaker 1: that knee injury, if it wasn't a guy who's well
- 14:22Speaker 1: in at his own thirties and a guy who got
- 14:25Speaker 1: hurt so late in the tea, did to remember this
- 14:27Speaker 1: was Thanksgiving, I'd be a little more optimistic about this.
- 14:30Speaker 1: But you look at Trey Davious White, star corner for
- 14:33Speaker 1: the Bills. He got hurt around the same time of
- 14:35Speaker 1: year last year and didn't really start playing again until
- 14:39Speaker 1: this past November. So that's almost a year you're talking about.
- 14:42Speaker 1: Usually with acls eight or nine months. You know. I
- 14:45Speaker 1: know it's a different position cornerback. You're a lot more,
- 14:48Speaker 1: you're moving around more. It'd be more agile. But again,
- 14:51Speaker 1: vom Miller's up there in age and they rely so
- 14:53Speaker 1: much on him. They were office a great start defensively,
- 14:57Speaker 1: when he got hurt, the pass rush went south. He's
- 14:59Speaker 1: got to be healthy for a good part of this
- 15:01Speaker 1: season for them to get to where they want to
- 15:03Speaker 1: get to. All Right, this one does not involve all
- 15:05Speaker 1: of the future Hall of Famer This tip off season
- 15:08Speaker 1: storylines here, Well, maybe you never know. Justin Herbert Kellen Moore,
- 15:12Speaker 1: how are they going to work together here in LA
- 15:16Speaker 1: I love this higher and I think it's one of
- 15:18Speaker 1: the most underrated hires of the off season because Kellen Moore,
- 15:22Speaker 1: you know, I know Mike McCarthy wasn't a fan of
- 15:25Speaker 1: his on the way at the door in Dallas, but
- 15:28Speaker 1: I love what he's going to bring to the Chargers,
- 15:30Speaker 1: and Justin Herbert specifically, because he's very aggressive offensively, wants
- 15:34Speaker 1: to the football down the field, and he's got a
- 15:37Speaker 1: nice mix to work with there. When you're talking about
- 15:39Speaker 1: the receivers that are in place there, guys like Mike
- 15:42Speaker 1: Williams and Keenan Allen, you're talking about the offensive line
- 15:45Speaker 1: being tacked again after losing Roshan Slater to injury last year.
- 15:49Speaker 1: And then I mentioned Austin Equa earlier in the show.
- 15:51Speaker 1: A lot of pieces to work with there. But Justin
- 15:53Speaker 1: Herbert has got to start playing like Patrick Mahomes, like
- 15:58Speaker 1: Joe Burrow, like Josh Allen in the postseason, in the
- 16:02Speaker 1: big games, and Kellen Moore can get that out of him.
- 16:05Speaker 1: He's got all the talent in the world. A little
- 16:07Speaker 1: too much big and duct from me in that offense,
- 16:09Speaker 1: and I know injuries were a part of it, but
- 16:11Speaker 1: ultimately he's a superstar quarterback who needs to be coached
- 16:15Speaker 1: like a superstar quarterback. We will give him that. As
- 16:18Speaker 1: the Churches right now are negotiating potential long term deal.
- 16:21Speaker 1: It's three years down already for Justin Herbert, so he
- 16:23Speaker 1: is in that new contract window. Might happen before Week one.
- 16:27Speaker 1: Thank you, Jeff. Jidia has some great offseason storyline speaking
- 16:30Speaker 1: of the quarterbacks, and the number one offseason storyline is
- 16:33Speaker 1: usually where the quarterback's going to go in the draft.
- 16:36Speaker 1: We've talked Young, We've talked Stroud, how about Hendon Hooker?
- 16:39Speaker 1: Mark Ross loves him. Half to the draft crew, what
- 16:42Speaker 1: do we think first round pick? Hi Prince? Welcome back
- 16:48Speaker 1: inside the Path to the Draft studios. Brett Lewis and
- 16:50Speaker 1: Bucky Brooks here with you. You know and when we
- 16:53Speaker 1: look at the top quarterbacks in this draft, all too
- 16:55Speaker 1: often Hindon Hooker's name has been left out of the mix.
- 16:59Speaker 1: But he's an absolute stud in this class, especially when
- 17:01Speaker 1: you look at this touchdown to interception ratio. See some
- 17:05Speaker 1: of the big names on there that have had some
- 17:06Speaker 1: of those great years in this category since twenty and eighteen,
- 17:09Speaker 1: and Hendon Hooker's name is on there twice. By the way,
- 17:12Speaker 1: the other four people on there, they were all first
- 17:15Speaker 1: round picks in the year that they came out. Hendon
- 17:17Speaker 1: Hooker on the road to recovery after that knee injury
- 17:19Speaker 1: and talking about his mindset as a rookie, Yeah, I'm
- 17:22Speaker 1: just trying to get as healthy as possible and that
- 17:25Speaker 1: will help me no longevity wise, but you know, I
- 17:28Speaker 1: just want to come in and be a sponge and
- 17:31Speaker 1: learn as much as I can from me and everyone
- 17:32Speaker 1: in the building. You had an electrifying career here at
- 17:35Speaker 1: Tennessee fifty eight touchdowns to just five interceptions. How did
- 17:39Speaker 1: you limit those mistakes while still making plays downfield? No
- 17:43Speaker 1: one want to take chances. It's always the time and
- 17:45Speaker 1: place of everything, so no one want to take those
- 17:47Speaker 1: chances and squeezes into tight windows or you know, just
- 17:50Speaker 1: take what they give me. And that all comes from
- 17:53Speaker 1: my preparation. I probably myself in preparation and that helped
- 17:57Speaker 1: me in the long run. Narro marrowis there are chatting
- 18:00Speaker 1: with Hendon Hooker at the Tennessee Pro Day, in which
- 18:02Speaker 1: he was unable to physically participate. But man, I tell
- 18:04Speaker 1: you what, in me with teams, it sure sounds like
- 18:06Speaker 1: Hendon Hooker is impressing the teams and evaluators with what
- 18:10Speaker 1: he's able to show in showcase. So with that in mind,
- 18:14Speaker 1: should Ndon Hooker be a first round pick? Buck? Yes,
- 18:16Speaker 1: he should be a first round pick. You heard him
- 18:18Speaker 1: right there. The maturity that he displays when he meets
- 18:21Speaker 1: with teams, he conveys a first round talent to go
- 18:24Speaker 1: with film that certainly suggested his first round worthy. This
- 18:28Speaker 1: is a guy who has put up big numbers at
- 18:30Speaker 1: Tennessee and back to back years fifty eight touchdowns, five interceptions.
- 18:34Speaker 1: You put up the board where everyone on that board
- 18:38Speaker 1: before end and Hooker was a top of the first
- 18:41Speaker 1: round player. And so when I think about this guy,
- 18:44Speaker 1: outstand they experienced great leadership ability, outstanding armed talent, and
- 18:49Speaker 1: when you're watch him play against the best in the SEC.
- 18:51Speaker 1: Here's one of the more dominant players. To me, it's
- 18:54Speaker 1: an easy situation to look at Hindon Hooker even with
- 18:57Speaker 1: the injury, and say, somewhere in the first round, in
- 19:00Speaker 1: the bottom of the first round, Hendon Hooker should hear
- 19:02Speaker 1: his name. Yeah, I'm kind of looking at some of
- 19:04Speaker 1: those teams with multiple first round picks as those that
- 19:07Speaker 1: could be in the Hindon Hooker. Hinder Hindon Hooker market,
- 19:11Speaker 1: looking at you know, maybe the Detroit Lions at eighteen,
- 19:14Speaker 1: maybe the Vikings at twenty three, maybe the Seahawks at
- 19:17Speaker 1: twenty with established veteran quarterbacks to give some time to
- 19:21Speaker 1: Hindon Hooker to get ready to play. So just a
- 19:23Speaker 1: couple of thoughts there. We've got plenty more each and
- 19:25Speaker 1: every weekday here on path to the Draft joint US
- 19:27Speaker 1: at six pm Eastern. All right, Reett, thank you, Let's
- 19:30Speaker 1: continue the quarterback conversation. How about this guy? Why isn't
- 19:34Speaker 1: dtr getting more run? Is it because Pac twelve after
- 19:37Speaker 1: dark happenwall of you were sleeping. He is here in
- 19:41Speaker 1: the building, he is coming up. He's jumping out of
- 19:43Speaker 1: the set after checking out the helmets outside. Dorian Thompson
- 19:48Speaker 1: Robinson next on NFL Now, all right, that was ridiculous.
- 20:12Speaker 1: This guy can play NFL now presented to you by Ike.
- 20:15Speaker 1: He could also run. I mean, look, he's more than
- 20:18Speaker 1: just a guy that's really you know, a past quarterback.
- 20:20Speaker 1: He's a good quarterback. Dorian Thompson Robinson from UCLA was
- 20:23Speaker 1: the fastest quarterback of the combine, a four or five
- 20:27Speaker 1: six at the combine. Even though we tweeted that he
- 20:30Speaker 1: wasn't entirely happy with his combined performers. We've got to
- 20:32Speaker 1: that in a second. I'm sure he was happy to
- 20:34Speaker 1: see this, which was the East West Shrine Bowl, which
- 20:37Speaker 1: was in his hometown of Vegas. Picture of that picture
- 20:43Speaker 1: him here on the set here, Dorian Thompson Robinson from UCLA.
- 20:47Speaker 1: Thanks for coming into NFL Network. Thank you for having me. Man,
- 20:50Speaker 1: It's awesome to be here. How cool was that though?
- 20:53Speaker 1: To be there in Vegas and play in your hometown.
- 20:56Speaker 1: Family still live in Vegas at his home, and you
- 20:58Speaker 1: got to be there in a college All Star game. Yeah,
- 21:01Speaker 1: I actually had close to a hundred people come to that.
- 21:04Speaker 1: Cool was it was definitely a blessing. It was. It
- 21:07Speaker 1: was super cool. Also to be able to spend in
- 21:08Speaker 1: with teammates. I got to go back and show them
- 21:10Speaker 1: my old high school and how rich in tradition that
- 21:13Speaker 1: was UM, and get to be able to see my
- 21:15Speaker 1: little sister played. So it was it was super cool,
- 21:17Speaker 1: super fun week. That's Bishop Gorman, as you said, a
- 21:20Speaker 1: long football tradition there, and the Raiders are looking at
- 21:23Speaker 1: a quarterback. We spent half our show today talking about
- 21:25Speaker 1: the Raiders potentially drafting a quarterback. When you were a kid,
- 21:29Speaker 1: though they weren't there. They were the old Clan Raiders,
- 21:31Speaker 1: so you weren't necessarily a Raiders fan. But the possibility
- 21:35Speaker 1: of playing at home. Have you thought about that? I
- 21:39Speaker 1: definitely have. I definitely have, And like you said that
- 21:41Speaker 1: the Raiders were not there when I was in town
- 21:44Speaker 1: at first, so UM definitely didn't have an NFL team
- 21:47Speaker 1: really growing up. And I've obviously leaned more towards the
- 21:50Speaker 1: Raiders now that they've been in town for the past
- 21:53Speaker 1: um a few years. We got Raiders colors on here today,
- 21:55Speaker 1: so it's been it's been super cool just to be
- 21:57Speaker 1: able to go through the process, like I said, talked
- 21:59Speaker 1: coaches m and I'll be at their local day on
- 22:01Speaker 1: the fourteenth, and so I'll be able to meet with
- 22:03Speaker 1: them and everything too. So each team is able to
- 22:05Speaker 1: have a local tryout guys that grew up in that area,
- 22:08Speaker 1: and it doesn't count against the top thirty visits. So,
- 22:10Speaker 1: for example, the forty Niners are doing one today. All
- 22:12Speaker 1: the Bay area players, Stanford Cal whatever can work out
- 22:15Speaker 1: for the Niners. So you'll do the Raiders one. So
- 22:17Speaker 1: I'm going through your Twitter last night, right, and your
- 22:20Speaker 1: Twitter has one theme. You know what the theme is?
- 22:23Speaker 1: Do you know what it is? I don't know, but
- 22:25Speaker 1: I'm kind of scared now. No, it's good. It's praising
- 22:29Speaker 1: your teammates. Half of you, I'd say two thirds of
- 22:32Speaker 1: what you tweet is retweeting stuff about your teammates. You're
- 22:36Speaker 1: a good morning football. Last month they asked you, hey, Dorian,
- 22:40Speaker 1: look at the camera. All thirty two teams are watching.
- 22:42Speaker 1: Sell yourself to those thirty two teams. You know what
- 22:45Speaker 1: he did? You talked about your teammates. Do you not
- 22:50Speaker 1: like talking about yourself? Oh it's not that. It's just
- 22:54Speaker 1: you know, everybody thinks the quarterback gets all the all
- 22:58Speaker 1: the praise and all the blame, but in reality, it's
- 23:00Speaker 1: it is the team sport and I love my teammates
- 23:04Speaker 1: to death, and that's part of the reason why I
- 23:05Speaker 1: came back from my fifth year at UCLA because I
- 23:08Speaker 1: love those boys so much and so um. You know,
- 23:11Speaker 1: that's that's the type of teammate I am, Um, And
- 23:14Speaker 1: that's the type of quarterback. Hand for let's talk about you.
- 23:16Speaker 1: I said you're the fastest quarterback of the combine. You
- 23:18Speaker 1: also have the best arm. Um. This is not something
- 23:21Speaker 1: we've been doing for a while, honestly, Dorian. It kind
- 23:23Speaker 1: of reminds me of of like something you do at
- 23:25Speaker 1: a carnival and we'd give you a Teddy bear, But
- 23:28Speaker 1: do we have the video of you throwing sixty two
- 23:30Speaker 1: miles an hour something like that? They they put up
- 23:34Speaker 1: like a wall and you're throw it sixty two miles
- 23:37Speaker 1: an hour? Like what's that worth? Um? You know, I
- 23:41Speaker 1: just think kind of all my hard work that I
- 23:42Speaker 1: put in with eight weeks with Jordan Palmer and staff
- 23:45Speaker 1: down in Orange County and being able to you know,
- 23:47Speaker 1: put that on display. Um. And you know, I'm not
- 23:50Speaker 1: gonna come out and say I got the strongest arm
- 23:53Speaker 1: because uh, you know, it's the proof is in the
- 23:56Speaker 1: pudding and so for me, like I said, I'm just
- 23:58Speaker 1: trying to work hard and improve every day, um and
- 24:00Speaker 1: making sure that I'm growing every day. So not trying
- 24:03Speaker 1: to take away from the great stuff to do with
- 24:04Speaker 1: the combine. It does kind of feel like a carnival
- 24:06Speaker 1: game though, doesn't it? Just like throw it as hard
- 24:07Speaker 1: as you think it. Definitely does it, definitely does. It
- 24:09Speaker 1: brought me back from when I was trying to do
- 24:11Speaker 1: that stuff, like I said, at the carnival, but there
- 24:12Speaker 1: was no Teddy there, No, definitely not didn't get a
- 24:15Speaker 1: prize for I also know you take a lot of
- 24:17Speaker 1: pride in what you guys have done at you see,
- 24:19Speaker 1: like collectively again back your teammates. The fact that the
- 24:22Speaker 1: last two years you guys have won seventeen games from
- 24:26Speaker 1: where you started there at the beginning to how you finished.
- 24:29Speaker 1: How important is that to you? Yeah? Super important And
- 24:32Speaker 1: obviously I came in with the with the hopes of
- 24:34Speaker 1: doing that a lot sooner. But it's been super cool
- 24:37Speaker 1: just to be able to go through it with my
- 24:38Speaker 1: freshman class. We started out as playing as freshman and
- 24:41Speaker 1: was the youngest team in college football, and now you know,
- 24:44Speaker 1: we're all adults now and moving on and being able
- 24:46Speaker 1: to leave them with something with a bigger foundation than
- 24:49Speaker 1: what we what we had. So m you know, I'm
- 24:51Speaker 1: super proud and super bussed to even be able to
- 24:54Speaker 1: be handed those keys to do that. So we always
- 24:56Speaker 1: asked the prospects as they get ready for the draft. Here,
- 24:59Speaker 1: who is it that you watched when you were a kid?
- 25:01Speaker 1: You not surprisingly watched a lot of Aaron Rodgers. You
- 25:06Speaker 1: recently ran into Aaron Rodgers. Tell me about that. Yes,
- 25:10Speaker 1: it was super cool. Um we met at my trender
- 25:13Speaker 1: Jordan Palmer's flag football event um in r X three
- 25:16Speaker 1: and so h, like I said, just super cool. Just
- 25:18Speaker 1: be able to ask him for advice, um, and kind
- 25:21Speaker 1: of the things that he would he would go in
- 25:22Speaker 1: with throughout this process. And he said to stay present,
- 25:26Speaker 1: enjoy every moment. You know, he went through his retreat
- 25:29Speaker 1: and everything and he got a little reset himself. So, UM,
- 25:32Speaker 1: just give me advice he got from that and what
- 25:34Speaker 1: he learned from there and all that type of stuff. So,
- 25:36Speaker 1: for the record, you have not gone into a four
- 25:39Speaker 1: day darkness to retreat yet. I have not no plans
- 25:41Speaker 1: to do that. Uh, there there may be plans in
- 25:45Speaker 1: the future. I don't know. I don't know. Aaron may
- 25:46Speaker 1: have convinced me really because I have said I said
- 25:51Speaker 1: it on the air, Dorian, that I would do that.
- 25:52Speaker 1: I think like turning all this off and going dark
- 25:56Speaker 1: for a little bit, like there might be some use
- 25:59Speaker 1: to that. Yeah, you need some of that for sure.
- 26:01Speaker 1: For sure, I would say, all right, you tell me
- 26:03Speaker 1: how it goes. I'm not gonna I'm not gonna spell
- 26:06Speaker 1: the secrets too early. Okay. I know you're also doing
- 26:09Speaker 1: a lot of visits. You mentioned the Raiders here on
- 26:10Speaker 1: their local workout. I know last week you visited the
- 26:13Speaker 1: Browns and I was told that you like studying dinosaurs
- 26:18Speaker 1: at UCLA. Do you know that Miles Garrett His Twitter
- 26:23Speaker 1: handle is Jurassic Miles and he has shown up for
- 26:27Speaker 1: games in a dinosaurs suit. Yes, I've seen this video before. Okay,
- 26:31Speaker 1: the Browns are a good fit. Yes they are. Okay,
- 26:35Speaker 1: they definitely are. I was able to meet with that staff,
- 26:38Speaker 1: go through installs and be able to share them my
- 26:39Speaker 1: recall and how intelligent I am about the game, and
- 26:42Speaker 1: so I thought it was a really good meeting and
- 26:45Speaker 1: a really good overall experience to be able to go
- 26:47Speaker 1: down there and meet with those guys last thing for
- 26:49Speaker 1: your Dorian. Again, I know you don't like talking about yourself,
- 26:51Speaker 1: and this is really about everybody. Chip Kelly said late
- 26:54Speaker 1: last year that you, Zach Charbone others maybe didn't get
- 26:57Speaker 1: the pub you deserve because of PAC twelve after Dark,
- 27:01Speaker 1: because you guys played so many late games where people
- 27:03Speaker 1: back east didn't watch. I'll be honest with that. There
- 27:05Speaker 1: were times where I had to go to bed early
- 27:07Speaker 1: for Sunday shows for the NFL, and I woke up
- 27:09Speaker 1: five am check my phone and I'd begin all these texts,
- 27:12Speaker 1: Oh my god, did you see what DTR did? Do
- 27:14Speaker 1: you think that played any effect? I think it did.
- 27:19Speaker 1: I think it did. I was born in South Carolina,
- 27:21Speaker 1: so I have a lot of my external family back
- 27:23Speaker 1: on the East Coast, and so I definitely know the
- 27:26Speaker 1: pain and struggles it is to be able to watch
- 27:27Speaker 1: me play late at night back on the East Coast,
- 27:30Speaker 1: and so I think it'll be it'll be good for
- 27:32Speaker 1: them to be able to join the Big Ten, and
- 27:34Speaker 1: a part of the reason why I think it'd be
- 27:37Speaker 1: beneficial for them to be able to get that type
- 27:38Speaker 1: of exposure and to get more eyes on him and
- 27:40Speaker 1: everything like that. So he is the star of Pac
- 27:43Speaker 1: twelve After Dark Dorian Thompson Robinson from UCLA. Good luck
- 27:47Speaker 1: to you, sir, thank you, thanks for coming in, DTR
- 27:50Speaker 1: everybody on NFL Now. NFL Now is a production of
- 27:54Speaker 1: the NFL in partnership with iHeartRadio. For more podcasts from
