- 3:01anniversary this year, you know what I mean, Like, yeah, clapp
- 3:05it up. Clapp it up. Celebrated our tenth anniversary on Twitter. The
- 3:07other day I saw that, you know this the four All Nerds Four All
- 3:13Nerds show formerly known as the other show that you know, Sean I'll be
- 3:16named. It's been around for ten years. That's just crazy to me,
- 3:21bro crazy to me too. Fam, you know what I mean. We
- 3:24have grown up on this show. Y'all have grown up with us. We
- 3:29have raised people, you know, all that different stuff. It's insane.
- 3:34I mean like I was like fresh out of Howard, like this just love.
- 3:38It's like a whole other world now look at us, right, lots
- 3:42of dreams fulfilled, lots of dreams loading. Um, it's just been.
- 3:47It's been a pleasure and it's been an honor. I say that like we're
- 3:50done, but we're not. But it's been. It's been. I mean
- 3:53we've been like a third time that we you know, talk we puedo quit,
- 3:57right, Yeah, but no, like it's doesn't like it kind of
- 4:00doesn't feel that long, and it also feels that long, but in a
- 4:03way that we've had such a huge journey, right, like we've had so
- 4:09many experiences and so many people we've met, and so many opportunities and just
- 4:15things that would have never occurred for us had we not done this podcast,
- 4:18right, and how can I continue to do this podcast? And like all
- 4:23the doors and the windows to the walls that have opened up for us,
- 4:27like it's it's been phenomenal, and it's just like there's so much more in
- 4:30store and it's just it's just waiting for us to walk through, right m
- 4:35And as always, you know what we do on this show, shout out
- 4:39to the one and only Reggie O. Say also known as Combat Jack,
- 4:44the pod Father, the pod Father, the one and only. If you
- 4:48didn't know now you know, thank you very much for setting us on this
- 4:51journey, you know, for incorporating us, for bringing us into existence.
- 4:56And we continue to carry on and dream those dreams and raised the those bars,
- 5:00you know what I mean. Always, Um, since we're speaking about
- 5:04loved ones that has passed, also one say happy birthday to Deadly d vaka
- 5:10a meeting her birthday, um and it depends on when you hear this,
- 5:15but her birthdays this week and you know, every I think I think she
- 5:20passed in twenty eighteen. I'm not sure at this point, but every you
- 5:26know, having on my counter every year of her birthday, so I always
- 5:28celebrate it. Um. She was also a huge part of Man, I
- 5:31mean to the end right to huge part of our Bars Alive Bars, our
- 5:39anime focused podcast, huge part of our success, huge part of our expansion,
- 5:43huge part of just pushing us. She was always on point, like
- 5:47always about the fam, always about the team, just doing whatever was necessary
- 5:51to make sure that we was winning at all times. Man. And just
- 5:55such a good person, you know what I mean. It's like those type
- 5:58of people, man, just coming into our lives. And it's funny too
- 6:01that this is our tenth anniversary because I was thinking about you the other day.
- 6:04How like when I first put the call out and I was like,
- 6:08it was me and Cheeko Leo when we first started the show, the cheek
- 6:10O Leo of course, and I was like, we did one or two
- 6:15episodes, maybe I think one I honestly, and I was like, Yo,
- 6:18ain't no way, I'm sitting here because of me him combat Jack.
- 6:21We had Sean Price, you know, you guys had fifty niggas on No
- 6:29Joe never made it to the show. They say, you guys always say
- 6:32he was there. No, no weterview Joe to be on the show,
- 6:38and Joe was like, y'all got fifty niggas on this show. A way,
- 6:40I'm coming on people, no, not no. Before you and um
- 6:46Jamie came through, it was just me, Cheeko and Combat, okay,
- 6:51and Sean Price and there. Yeah, there's an original lost episode that to
- 6:57this day is lost with Sean Price Sam League. I wish I had it.
- 7:01I wish I could give it to y'all, but I don't. And
- 7:03that had Sean Price on at me Combat, and I don't even think Chico
- 7:08was there yet. Then we brought Chico and because we interviewed Chico and Joe,
- 7:11and Joe's like, now I'm good, and Chico's like I'm down.
- 7:15And so it's me, Chico and Combat and I was like, ain't no
- 7:17way, ain't no way, ain't no way, ain't no way. And
- 7:24so I put out the call on Twitter and Tatiana, who was already following
- 7:28me, I was already following her, and Chico actually was like, Yo,
- 7:30we should get this woman Tattwa king. You know, she knows all
- 7:33her shit about yeah, and so you responded like yeah, I'm down.
- 7:39Jamie came through and that was the original Fantastic four, you know what I
- 7:43mean. And then still got that picture with the great um from Prodigy my
- 7:48first episode. That was your first episode. That was our first episode.
- 7:53That's so crazy. I threw y'all right into the fire, like deal with
- 7:56this ship. That's how it usually is. Let's go. It's crazy.
- 8:00I didn't realize that was y'all first episode was the very first episode. First
- 8:03first Oh man, I remember when y'all came through and I was like,
- 8:05yeah, we're talking to Prodigy tonight. And I remember Jamie it's like what
- 8:11it was, very like, okay, oh that's crazy. And y'all can
- 8:16listen to that one that is not a lost episode another god lost you know
- 8:20recipes to Prodigy of Mob Deep a legend you know who is on Tatiana's very
- 8:26first episode. Got to speak to a living will now past legend, you
- 8:33know. Yeah. When I think about it, I'm thinking about I was
- 8:35like I felt stupid asking him questions. I'm like, what the fuck am
- 8:37I supposed to ask this man? Like he's probably give me like this stupid
- 8:39kid like what am I supposed to be saying to him? But you know
- 8:43it worked out. You know, he had a great time, had a
- 8:46great time. He was talking about aliens and shit. But like I just
- 8:48felt like I was asking him the wrong things, Like I'm not like,
- 8:50I'm not part of this, I'm not doing this right. But they ain't
- 8:54gotta notice. I'm just gonna act like I know what I'm doing. So
- 8:58that's all that matters, know at like you've been there before, right,
- 9:01and you know, since we were going to act like we've been here before.
- 9:05You know, the name of this episode is Marvel Versus DC versus Wu
- 9:09Tang, which she will soon understand. You know, it's not like Wu
- 9:16Tangers Forever and Wou Tangers for the kids, but one of those things is
- 9:20not like they actually all similarly related. And you know, it was a
- 9:24big day this week. Yeah, yesterday, Yeah, yesterday, this week
- 9:28was a big big day in entertainment is Marvel and DC both both of them
- 9:33decided to release trailers. Yeah big day as well. Oh yeah yeah.
- 9:41Oh she's in Spider Woman. She's Spider Woman and that what was the big
- 9:43day for her today because they also released the details about the well, the
- 9:48trailer and the photo posters for Barbie. Oh yeah, and she's also in
- 9:52that Barbie nice, very nice. Congratulations, but yes we do. I
- 10:01know they dropped a teaser trailer for Barbarie. We ain't got that. We're
- 10:03waiting on the full one, you know. Um super Mario Bros. Is
- 10:07getting incredible reviews. Shout out to Charles Pulliam Moore from Io nine or actually
- 10:11The Verge Now, um he said he was he was shot shot how good?
- 10:18And and and Charles is the one of the most level headed people,
- 10:22number one, but also critics that I that I know, and he will
- 10:26tell it like it is and generally like between him myself and then, I
- 10:31mean, we're usually kind of on the same wavelength when it comes to these
- 10:33reviews. And for him to be like yeah literally every time, so like
- 10:37for him to be like, yo, that was like undeniably good. I
- 10:41was like, oh, okay, you know, I wasn't really hype about
- 10:48all the voice acting talent. I'm not gonna say the names, but um,
- 10:52you know, it's still it's still Mario. And it's like if they're
- 10:54trying to be better, like how they how they've done like with this Sonic
- 10:58movies things like that. Then you know I can see that working where the
- 11:01parent is working. My parent is working. And I mean that's shocking because
- 11:07now it seems like we're gonna have three incredible animated movies so far this year.
- 11:09Because I still go on record by saying, put some Boots the last
- 11:13wish. I gotta see it because I'm streaming out right. Yeah, I
- 11:18rented it on Amazon. You know it was worth all all DreamWorks right yeah,
- 11:22yeah, And I'm not a big DreamWorks fan, but I mean that's
- 11:26where it's never never gave a damn. Honestly, I'm gonna get roasted.
- 11:31I liked the first one. I think I was trying to tire to Mike
- 11:35Myers stuff, and I mean, Eddie Murphy is Eddie Murphy. You know
- 11:37it's it's like I liked it, you know, but it ain't something i'd
- 11:41be like, let me go watch Trek again. Hell no, ain't,
- 11:45no way fifty times the original. I've always been a Pixar, you know,
- 11:50Toy Story, I've seen him. But DreamWorks stream is be coming up
- 11:54like how to Train Your Dragon? Dream Works be honest, Yeah, that's
- 11:58got It's the animation style. And the way they faces look. Nah,
- 12:05never liked. Do you know it's real good? Speaking of how to Train
- 12:09Your Dragon, there's this fucking dragon show on Hulu that's in the same universes
- 12:15How to Train Your Dragon. It's actually good as fuck. You need to
- 12:18watch it. I forgot the name of it, but I'm gonna probably remembering.
- 12:20Just have some funny looking faces. Yes, been on me, that's
- 12:24just how dream Works do it. Okay, but no, look, I
- 12:26could never deal dog. I'm not gonna lie. The funny looking faces threw
- 12:31me off every time. And so pussing Boots is felt to me felt like
- 12:35they took some of the animators from Spider Verse, or they learned some of
- 12:39them styles because they are doing all those different styles or frame rates and different
- 12:43styles of animation in the same shot and put some boots just on another Leveloo,
- 12:48that's one of my favorite films of the year. I gotta see that.
- 12:50Um yeah, and it's it's the Dragons the Nine Realms that that show's
- 12:56actually pretty there. But like when you catch your stuff, like and this
- 13:01is really is supposed to it's not just because it's animation, because I don't
- 13:03think inherently animation. It's not kids stuff, right, No, but this
- 13:09is targeted specifically towards kids. But it's actually a really compelling story and you
- 13:13kind of get into it. So I could caught myself many times like mouth
- 13:18opened, like watching the story. So it's actually pretty good. Nigga,
- 13:20Put Some Boots is so damn adult. It's out of control that. Yeah,
- 13:24that ship is one of the darkest, most real life films I've ever
- 13:26seen. Yeah, but Shrek I had had that stuff too, And I
- 13:28mean, like I started getting annoying after, you know, I think it
- 13:31was like three movies or whatever, better two movies. But point is you
- 13:35gotta you know, yeah, Pixar's Bobby King, but you also got to
- 13:39give it up a dream Works. They'd be coming with some fire. Yeah
- 13:41no. And this was so bad that when I saw the Pittar got a
- 13:43new trailer for Elemental. When I saw the trailer for Elemental, I was
- 13:48like, y'all got to step it up, like this might be great.
- 13:52But the trailer did nothing for me because I just finished watching Put Some Boots
- 13:56and it was so silly with animation and style and just flare, and I
- 14:01was like, the Elementals ain't doing it, which is why we are not
- 14:05you know, watching that tonight as we you know, let's get into this
- 14:09because we have a really big show. Like I said, we got DC
- 14:11versus Marvel versus Wu, Tang, Julie and Elijah Martinez is joining us yeast.
- 14:20First we got to get into these trailers. We got the Blue Beetle
- 14:24trailer dropping from DC and the Secret Invasion trailer dropping on Disney plus from Marvel.
- 14:33So because three things, wow, there has been a lot what's at
- 14:39the same time, Like I forgot about Secret Invasion? I know when I
- 14:46said I have forgotten, not because it wasn't fire. It's just that literally
- 14:48all these shows have been dropping back to back to back, back to back
- 14:52to back. So we are going to review or watch, you know,
- 14:56give you all little you know, reaction all that good stuff. First to
- 15:01the Blue Beetle trailer from Disney starring my Man's from Cobra Kai. Excuse me,
- 15:13mister rayas you finished scraping the gum off that lounger. What anything right
- 15:24now? How to reach you? Always land on your feet, bro your
- 15:26hymen much. I just want to go to wife, but do not open
- 15:39you went into get us shops and all you brought back was the hamburger.
- 15:43Okay, I don't think it's a burger. You haven't looked. What the
- 15:48hell is this? How did you get it to do that? I think
- 15:52he likes me M to same same? What the host there? Okay,
- 16:30free entry systems, ready to say what you want, to say what you
- 16:37want? Where is going on? It's called the scarc. It's some kind
- 16:45of world destroying weapons. It's designed to protect its host. Sometimes it does
- 16:52what you want and sometimes it doesn't. I think I cut a bucksen half
- 17:02the scart, chose you, that it belongs to me. That low your
- 17:07field for your family makes you weak. I want to row. I want
- 17:17my money, don't low my side. The universe is sensual gift and you
- 17:21have to figure out what you're gonna do with it, or two bits or
- 17:23dog side whatever you can't imagine. I can create fire. Yeah, nice
- 17:37choice. Who it's like Batman stuff? Batman as a fascist? I just
- 17:48want to brown round. Somebody's been listening to the show, shouts to Julian
- 17:52Elijah Martinez. Yes, word for word, bar for bar um. I
- 17:57loved it. I had said on Twitter that I am I felt like it
- 18:07was a fresh move. It's a fresh take for for the DCU. Now
- 18:10we're you know, no longer the DCU, but the DCUM and and and
- 18:14the go forward plan, right because we're getting out of the whole everything gotta
- 18:19be dark. We're getting out of the whole everything gotta be fucking depressing,
- 18:23and we're getting more into the Okay, let's tell some compelling stories with and
- 18:27yes, of course younger characters, but also new characters. This is not
- 18:32even though we're gonna get it anyway. This is not the fiftieth Superman or
- 18:36Batman film. This is Blue Beetle, which again I don't I am not
- 18:41the biggest DC fan or DC comic book head, but I don't think that's
- 18:45the top tier when it comes to far from it, these types, you
- 18:48know what I'm saying. And similarly, what happened in the MCU where they
- 18:52took Carter words not exactly top tier, but they made it a top tier.
- 18:56And I can see them doing this with the Blue Beetle character. Yep
- 19:00um, Okay. I had some reservations because I am a fan of the
- 19:04Blue Beetle character. Surprisingly, he talked a lot about it over the years.
- 19:07Yeah, Yeah, a lot of people who watch Young Justice will know
- 19:11him from that show. He was a prominent part, his whole lore and
- 19:15enemies, everything about him plays a prominent part in Young Justice. That's how
- 19:21Ray got to know him. I think he was actually introduced on the show
- 19:23before he came to the comics. I'm not on. That's that's my entry
- 19:26point for Blue Beetle from from Young Justice. But and even then it's still
- 19:30limited. And then I also go back with the Second Blue Beetle, who
- 19:36some of him. There's a lot of references in the trailer, right,
- 19:38Jamie, who is the new Blue Beetle, goes to work at Cord Industries,
- 19:44which is owned by Ted Cord, who is the first Blue Beetle or
- 19:48the second Blue Beetle. Right, And even the ship you see with the
- 19:52big blue I mean big yellow eyes. The blue ship is his ship.
- 19:56That's not related to the New Blue Beetle. And the differences, I mean,
- 20:00there's a big differences. The original Blue Beetle is a billionaire. He's
- 20:03kind of like Batman, but not so much of a fascist obviously, you
- 20:07know, he's more of a good Batman, right. And then yeah,
- 20:12the new one is a young kid who gets this alien scare of attached to
- 20:18him, as we see in the trailer. Yes, that grows into the
- 20:21suit of armor, and it's related to a bunch of other alien stare up
- 20:26things and aliens to where are these suits? Yeah, I mean it's giving
- 20:30for me, it's giving um what you say, Guiver guy, were the
- 20:40anime? I don't know, I know, Oh you're talking about some Okay,
- 20:42I don't know. Yeah, but it's a lot of different types of
- 20:47characters and stories giving me. Right, it's giving me a little bit of
- 20:51symbio venom symbio. It's giving me Iron Man, it's giving me Green Lantern.
- 20:56It's giving me a little bit of Spider Man in it, right because
- 21:00bugs? Right? Yeah, but but who's everybody? But I also like
- 21:03that this is a Latino focused character, and I don't know if he's always
- 21:07well, like you said, different people could be Beatles, but I don't
- 21:10know if the main one has this always has been a Mexican character, Okay,
- 21:14okay, okay, yeah, yeah, um or Latin x rather,
- 21:18so he's definitely Mexican. Okay, yeah, this man, it was it
- 21:25really takes place in El Paso. Oh okay, cool, cool, um
- 21:29but um no, I like seeing all of that, right, And like
- 21:30I said, I just I think this is a cool fresh take for for
- 21:34for DC and to give you something fun, right, Like my favorite part
- 21:40of the trailer were him cutting the fucking bus in half and being genuinely bewildered
- 21:45about what the fuck is happening? Now here's the thing. And that's why
- 21:47I think I why appreciate this trailer. I know someone had said, you
- 21:51know, they're they're holding their reservations because DC can make really good trailers,
- 21:53and then you see the movie and it's shite. Man a Steel trailer is
- 21:57still so good? Yeah? How and and that may or may not be
- 22:02true to vary. I still like man is still I don't care why anybody
- 22:06says, you're watching that ship the other day and with Superman and the Kryptonians
- 22:10are fighting in the middle of town. Do all that shit is so little?
- 22:12Yeah? Now, whether or not that is a one hundred percent that
- 22:15all the trailers, you know, like the actual movies paleing comparison to the
- 22:19trailers, I just think for me, I got genuine reaction out of it,
- 22:22like I because this could go off real corny, real fast, right,
- 22:27And I didn't get corny whatsoever from the trailers especially, And I used
- 22:32that scene about the bus because it's like you can feel like this boy is
- 22:34like what the fuck is going on? You know, right, And that
- 22:38was funny to me because that's that's all even lightweight Deadpool stuff, right,
- 22:42like something is happening around you and you can't do shit about it. And
- 22:47I funk with that, and then the whole to me, it was a
- 22:48call to the Exorcist where he's being pulled up into the ceiling and you know,
- 22:52getting covered up with all this uh you know, beetle transformation or whatever.
- 22:56So um, it just it just looked genuine And I think that's why
- 23:00I gravitated towards liking this and being like excited for the film to come out,
- 23:06because it seems like they're actually acting, you know what I mean,
- 23:08Like they're doing it, they're trying, they're doing a good job. There's
- 23:11there's potentially well written stuff. We will see what happens when it actually comes
- 23:15out. Yes, And I'm also excited for a few reasons because, like
- 23:19I said, I'm a fan of her from Young Justice. From what I
- 23:22understand, the villains in the film are going to be Ted's Chords, sister
- 23:26Victoria Chord, and this other dude, the Invincible Man or some shit.
- 23:32I have no idea, never heard of this cat before in my life,
- 23:34and that was kind of disappointed for me. But I'm sure they're going to
- 23:37get into this, maybe in a second film or something. But in Young
- 23:41Justice, it's, you know, his enemies are more connected to the suit.
- 23:44It's people coming back for the suits. So these aliens and one in
- 23:47particular who wears a suit but he's an alien underneath it. And his name
- 23:51is the Black Beetle because obviously the suits all black. And his voices by
- 23:56Victor Grievous grieving I'm not sure you pronounced that grievous. He's a famous voice
- 24:02Apple, He's done everything, but my man as Black Beetle is just one
- 24:07of the greatest performances of all time. To me. He calls everybody meat
- 24:11bags and other ship. You know, He's like, you know, humans
- 24:15are meat bags, and it's just this ill amazing voice. And I was
- 24:19really just hoping to see the character because he just does not give a shit
- 24:22about everyone. He just thinks everyone is beneath him. And he was so
- 24:26ill and arrogant, but then also so confident and so you know, well
- 24:30versed in the suit when he fought Blue Beetle, all the time he was
- 24:33just serving him because he knew how to do all the trips with the suit,
- 24:37and Blue Beetle still learning it. But I'm hoping why I've hope for
- 24:41a second film is because they're tying this in to the original Blue Beetle as
- 24:45well, and James Dunn is doing a Booster Gold film, and Booster Gold
- 24:52and Blue Beetle were partners at one point. I mean, that's like,
- 24:56that's their big partnership, you know, one of the big partnerships in DC
- 24:59Blue and Gold. You know, Blue Beetle and Booster Gold, and Booster
- 25:03Gold comes from the future. So people are saying maybe an in credit scene
- 25:07or something, Booster Gold shows up looking for Blue Beetle, because I don't
- 25:11know Ted Cord is in this at all. I think it's a lot of
- 25:14references to him, but I'm not sure. You know, he's not in
- 25:17the trailer. They haven't announced anyone playing him, so I don't know if
- 25:19he's even in the film. So maybe Booster shows up and then that connected
- 25:23the Booster Gold film, and then Blue Beetle does well and we get a
- 25:27second film with a Mexican superhero because you know we would be nice. Yeah,
- 25:33we shall see, but yeah, I'm feeling it. What else we
- 25:37got? Now? We also have the trailer from Marvel's Secret Invasion, which
- 25:44drops June twenty first. If I'm not mistaken on Disney Plus, this is
- 25:51the first trailer from it. As someone on Twitter informed us, this is
- 25:56not the actor who was in Dungeons and Drafts. There are two different black
- 26:02as, right, And someone said that's probably been on me who commented you
- 26:07lying? So it's not red Jed Jean Page. No, it's not in
- 26:14this. It's not what it is, and it's not what's the other guy?
- 26:17Um No, that's not him. You thought it was him. They
- 26:18don't look like that at me, Sam when that man posted them pictures together.
- 26:23If they don't do a Buddy cop movie or a brother's movie at some
- 26:26point, maybe cousins movie. But I knew it. I knew immediately that
- 26:32wasn't That wasn't Bridgeton so as you call him, So why wasn't I corrected
- 26:36on the show. You just don't let me run through because I said that
- 26:38on the show. I was like, I don't remember that happening. I
- 26:42might have been laughing about something. I don't remember you saying he was too
- 26:45busy raking dudgeons and dragons chords. That's probably what happened. I probably so
- 26:52weirded out by what the fuck I saw, but I am like I said,
- 26:55yeah, I'm gonna see it again. You got to. Uh.
- 26:57But back to this trailer. We have the Secret Invasion trailer from Marvel dropping
- 27:03June twenty first on Disney Plus. Uh. Kobe Smolders, who plays Um
- 27:07agent Maria Hill, has talked about how this series is a bunch of normal
- 27:14people up against you know, superpowered or aliens or whatever. Like. There
- 27:18aren't any real powered heroes on the heroes side, so that should be interesting.
- 27:25This is kind of a first for Marvel, and you know, let's
- 27:27see the trailer and then we'll talk about it afterwards. Well, I mean,
- 27:32he got he's got skills, but he ain't got no powers. But
- 27:36he he was also fighting goons. What these niggas fighting the fight the strolls,
- 27:42nigga, Well, what's this trailer? These niggas ain't just goods niggas.
- 27:48These niggas got powers. You've been gone, things have gotten march Worth,
- 28:12how do you think I came back? Well? Agree, you're in
- 28:21no shape for this fight that lies before us. Old friend. I can't
- 28:27believe you said he was Ridgar dead. Hey, I haven't seen Bridgeon either,
- 28:32So this is personal. Very few of us know about the wars fought
- 28:40in the shadows that have raged on this planet. Do you feel responsible?
- 28:53Where are the Avengers? This war is one I have to fight. You're
- 29:10the most wanted man on the planet. You don't know what they have planned?
- 29:17Fen great neck fury, one last fight? Pop your collar? I
- 29:45need to put that out never since I can't remember, uh, your your
- 29:51Bridgeton's cousin. His name is Kingsley Benarder okay um, and that was Amelia
- 29:56Cork, Yes it is, that is dearest, Denarest, Danny, Danny
- 30:03in this hole, Danny Targarian up in this So this is some of the
- 30:07best actors you know all around the Marvel's had in the production. Like straight
- 30:11up we saw Everett Ross, He's bad. Um, you know, James
- 30:15Rhodes, he's bad. Who's Surety in the red which one the one that
- 30:22was like old friend, Yes, Olivia Coleman, Yeah, she's an incredible
- 30:26actress. Who is she playing, Sonia Fallsworth? No idea? Oh Fasworth
- 30:32Faworth oh um, that's oh shit, that's union Jack. She's related to
- 30:38the Union Jack. Union Jack as a character. The Fallsworth family is like
- 30:44they go back to World War two and stuff. They're British and so related
- 30:48to Captain Britten. Type shit. No, Captain Britten is another family.
- 30:52Captain Britten is the Yeah, yeah, I mean do they have they was
- 30:56working with each other, Not really. I'm sure they've had stories for they
- 31:00across up at some point, but more so Union Jack as a whole other
- 31:03character. Union Jack was like, uh, the Britain's answer to Captain America.
- 31:07He has a dope. Yeah, well, Captain Britton is like the
- 31:11magical answer to I don't know what we got in America because we ain't got
- 31:15no magic. Captain Britten's more like a modern day King Arthur. You know,
- 31:19that's who he's supposed to represent, sword and all that type of stuff.
- 31:22Ain't some magic, while Union Jack is the dude he got the dope.
- 31:26Union Jacks. You gotta google more. We'll get him up on the
- 31:30screen. But my man had the pistol by the side, and he put
- 31:33in work and he didn't have no super soldier serum or nothing. He was
- 31:36just a dude, you know, putting in work. And so his nigga
- 31:40from the ends. Yeah yeah, and then his son or nephew carried on,
- 31:44you know, in the modern era and became Union Jack. I'm not
- 31:47sure who Sonia is, but that's a dopey oh man, I love Tomorrow
- 31:51pulling all this different shit. Valentina's back, ye, Julia, Louis Dreyfus,
- 31:56a bunch of a bunch of other people. Yeah, this is you
- 31:59said at it um. This is definitely feels in the Vein of Falcon and
- 32:01the Winter Soldier. But would higher stakes yes, um, you know not.
- 32:06I know you didn't really fuck with the what what was a terrorist group?
- 32:09Name the organization? You you they there was a time when you were
- 32:15like they were irrelevant. You were like, the flash matches ain't doing shit.
- 32:20I mean they wasn't they got blowing up in the that's I was like
- 32:23higher stakes because you know their rain was shorter than But um not, No,
- 32:31this this is that kind of Jason Bourne type thriller energy to me,
- 32:37and so you know, and I'm looking I like that, you know,
- 32:39I like where And it's just interesting because it's always especially when all this time
- 32:44it's gone by, it seems like Marvel has taken on more of the persona
- 32:47of the things that we would get mad at DC about about being too dark.
- 32:51When Marvel's starting to kind of go in a darker direction, but they
- 32:53still have relevant story. And then now DC is coming up with stuff that's
- 32:58a little bit more just brighter and story, more fun and things like that.
- 33:01So we're kind of seeing that that switch off happened, which I think
- 33:05is it works right, It works for certain stories, it works with certain
- 33:08audiences. And the fact that this is on gonna be on Disney Plus means
- 33:13they're gonna have more runway to actually give you more information right about what's going
- 33:17on. And then obviously this is going to lead into the next phase of
- 33:21Marvel films. How many do we know, how many episodes it's gonna be
- 33:25art six or nine? Oh damn, that's it? Yeah, I know,
- 33:30right, Well, let me not say that's it, because that's all
- 33:34you need. That's all you need, That's all you need. Six great.
- 33:37If it's you know, forty five minutes to an hour per episode,
- 33:39well, and that's all I need. You think it's gonna be an hour
- 33:43per episode, it better be forty five to an hour. It's a drama,
- 33:46you know, six episodes confirmed? Yeah, with a forty five to
- 33:50an hour. Yeah, it's a drama. They're gonna lean towards that side
- 33:53of thing. It's not gonna be thirty minutes, I doubt. Yeah,
- 33:57I'm super hype. A lot of people know the Secret of Age storyline from
- 34:00the comics. This will obviously be radically different because the Secret invasion from the
- 34:04comments of all the Scrolls replacing a bunch of heroes and they've been there for
- 34:08years now. This is also dealing with the fact that Nick furies, I
- 34:13mean, Samuel has talked about how this series is dealing with why Nick left,
- 34:16which was the death of everyone you know, all like Tony Black Widow,
- 34:22these people dying, and so he was like, yo, I got
- 34:23to get out of here. I can't deal with this ship. Well,
- 34:25technically an MCU having the Scrolls been there for years as well, Yes,
- 34:29because because as Captain Marvel, Yeah, the Captain Marvel film from the nineties.
- 34:34Yeah, and then in the nineties Fury promised to find them a new
- 34:38world. But what happened with that? And that's what they're saying, maybe
- 34:42the promises didn't go was kept. So now there's a bunch of scrolls still
- 34:46on Earth who have infiltrated since the nineties, right, and now they're coming
- 34:51out in the MCU Timine is like twenty twenty five or something like that.
- 34:53Yeah, right, so they've been there, Yeah for a good time.
- 34:58Families, all that type of shit, you know, probably kids with humans.
- 35:00Who knows what's going on at this point. Yeah, So I'm hype.
- 35:07I love the score of that trailer, you know, because that really
- 35:09gave it that. Yeah, and Marvel knows how to you know, just
- 35:17like DC, but Marvel really knows how to put together a trailer. You
- 35:21know. That shit got me super hype. Uh. Something else I wanted
- 35:24to mention about this joint we're gonna get Samuel say, I'm too old to
- 35:29do this shit About that sam with the fifth beard had me rolling. That
- 35:35was crazy. That shot at him with the fifth beard when he had the
- 35:37hat off, Yeah, looking like a professor at Howard that African American states
- 35:46Look, we had Bill Duke as one of our professors when I was there,
- 35:50so you know it happens though. I mean, Flicia was shot up
- 35:52there right now, right right, yeah, Samuel, it might be there
- 35:57one day. You never know, you never know, never know. But
- 36:00yeah, I you know, we're bat in two for two right now.
- 36:04Like this was this was a good trailer. This is I was ready.
- 36:07I think I mentioned that this was one of I thought it was quantum Media.
- 36:10I was wrong. This is one of the most important pieces of the
- 36:15next phase of the MCU. So, um, I'm really excited for it.
- 36:22You talk um that I am majis I mean, am I wrong in
- 36:27saying that? No? Damn it, no, no, no, that
- 36:30shit could have been learn nothing, nothing at all. Um, what I
- 36:36wanted to say, we should. You're talking about how like the switch over
- 36:37to the darker. And I also think it's that Marble is now at the
- 36:39point where they've done so much that they can just do random different things,
- 36:44you know, and DC is still like trying to figure out what to do,
- 36:46and so they're like, let's do iron Man, you know, basically
- 36:52like the Mexican you know. And it's not hate, it's like it's not
- 36:57hate, but come on, that whole was ironed man to the fun doctor
- 37:00Fate. That was the other problem I even had with the trailer. The
- 37:06voice of the Blue Beetles suit in Justice League is much more masterlin than it
- 37:10is feminine. It is it is And yeah, and I was that felt
- 37:14to start. Yeah, it felt to Tony start to me that a woman
- 37:17as a voice. But why that feel too? I mean, well,
- 37:20that's that's okay. But Jarvis was like the last voice that Jarvis is the
- 37:25most what's the word I'm trying to Yeah, so I guess they wanted to
- 37:30go away from dar Yeah, like, yeah, you heard like the pepper
- 37:32Pots esque voice, but then it became Jarvis's voice, like like prominently Jarvis
- 37:37got ate up and became vision and didn't Yeah yeah, yeah, but when
- 37:39honestly, when I think of the voice, and I I only think of
- 37:44Jarvis's voice, I don't think of I think. I think I think of
- 37:47a woman more because of a spider Man when he had the woman in his
- 37:51who you know, so it was like there was a lot of Scottish ladies.
- 37:53Yeah. So yeah, but back to Secret Invasion, I think Marvel
- 37:59is just now at the point where they can just do all these various different
- 38:01type of things. I mean, they did it already, we went a
- 38:05soldier, but now they can really lean into it and be like, because
- 38:07I don't think we're gonna see Roadie in his suit, I hope we don't,
- 38:10you know, I don't need to. Yeah, that's what I mean.
- 38:13We're gonna have We're gonna have armor awards like yeah. So yeah,
- 38:19I hope that they keep this now. I don't want to say grounded.
- 38:22I hate using that phrase, but I just hope they keep it where the
- 38:24protagonists at least don't have superpowers. Yeah, is this supposed to follow?
- 38:29Like, is this like supposed to follow the current timeline? So like this
- 38:34comes right after the events of People pointed out things in the trailer, like
- 38:38the newspaper is talking about the Battle of New York, which is the first
- 38:44Avengers film. The French newspaper that drops from the trailer, it says,
- 38:47live out the New York. So that's the first Battle of New York.
- 38:52So they're going backwards. Remember, these dudes been here, so they got
- 38:55to show you how long they've been here, what they've been doing, all
- 38:59that stuff. So and then remember the blip happened, So that's probably a
- 39:02big thing to them where they're like, you know, that probably thought the
- 39:05most. They're gonna have to show you that, No, that wasn't in
- 39:07this. In the Dare Devil, there's a shot of on some blip action,
- 39:10so that might take place in the blip, but they're definitely going to
- 39:14show you what the scrolls have been up, Davil. You mean you mean
- 39:16hope. Yeah, there's some people have gotten set shots where it the something
- 39:25was happening during the blip. You fucking spies, y'all be out there that
- 39:30ain't be out there, They're be out there. So that's for our secret
- 39:35nation, I mean secret in secret nation. I mean it is a secret
- 39:38nation as well, you know what I mean, Fear of a green planet,
- 39:42folks, an American drama. Secret Nation now. But that is our
- 39:55trailer review of Secret Invasion coming in June twenty f It's on Disney Plus.
- 40:01Thank you very much for joining us for that, and stick around because we
- 40:07now have the one and only Julian Elijah Martinez Divine on Wu Tang and American
- 40:15Saga now on Hulu joining us right after this, Yo, yo, Yo,
- 40:23it should wait l March. I'm tuned in to four All Nerds.

- 41:05welcome back to this very extremely special episode of Before All Nerds show. And
- 41:10it's always been bringing you that heat, and tonight is no different because we
- 41:15are welcoming you know. This is his second time on the show. Julie
- 41:22and Elijah Martinez a star staging screen a long time. For All Nerds familiar
- 41:28probably know him as Divine, the manager of the Woo Tang Plan on Wou
- 41:31Tang, an American drama in its final season American soccer, Well, it's
- 41:43American Socca and American drama, boy, because there's a lot of drama on
- 41:45that show. So you know, welcome mister Martinez back to the spaceship tonight
- 41:54welcome back, so happy to have you as well. That for me it
- 41:58was purposeful when he's an American drama because that shit is ridiculous, y'all dramatic,
- 42:02very dramatic, um dramatization of some real life stuff. But also it's
- 42:07some real life hardship, right, like hardships. I mean it's lots of
- 42:13love, it's lots of dramas, lots of anger, like it's all the
- 42:15emotions. And as Benami said, like this has become critically acclaimed, it
- 42:22has you know, gotten this props to just do. I mean we're here
- 42:24for three whole seasons, right, A lot of places for excuse me,
- 42:28four but three three three just three but four years four years but a lot
- 42:35of and a lot of people, a lot of a lot of properties don't
- 42:38even get past one. So you know, we want to definitely congratulate you
- 42:43on that, Like that's a blessing number one first and foremost, right,
- 42:46um, And I mean I like it's been a Watson's you've been here since
- 42:51you've talked about yourself on Wu Tang, how you talked about how everything has
- 42:55changed, and we really want to know, like how has things been and
- 43:00since like the very beginning till now. Yeah, well you know, between
- 43:05we went through a pandemic. That was before pandemic. So yeah, I
- 43:14mean like it's it's well one. The show. The show has been a
- 43:16blessing. I mean it. I was joking that it's been it felt like
- 43:21five years, but it has been four years of my life. And um
- 43:23wu Tang was literally the first big show that I've ever done. So um
- 43:29that from that led to Law and Order and my stint there. Um so
- 43:32it's led to other opportunities, you know. Um So it has been just
- 43:36an amazing blessing, an amazing journey. Um and so it's a little bit
- 43:39of sweet, you know, coming to the final, the finale on Wednesday,
- 43:44and um you know, me and Divine have had a couple of meetings
- 43:50and this is a person who who I've gotten to know has been sitting in
- 43:52the back of my head and you know, I've listened to his voice almost
- 43:55every day for four years, you know what I mean. The Rizza has
- 44:00been somebody who I saw and set almost every day, you know. So
- 44:05these are these are all people who have been a part of my life and
- 44:07a part of my story, and so um yeah, I actually just got
- 44:12done having uh day drinks with my mom and Marcus Calendar who plays Power.
- 44:16So like, yeah, this is you know, this, this is family,
- 44:21you know what I mean in a lot of ways. Yeah, that's
- 44:22what's up. How has it been on the street, Like the reception of
- 44:25people on the street when they see you, do you be like, oh
- 44:28that's the vine? Like do you be getting at like do people are crazy?
- 44:31I get I get a double take because I don't have to you know,
- 44:35I don't have a pronom right, yeah, so I get a double
- 44:37take and I get a I gotta always get a point, you get.
- 44:44I mean the you know decap you mean with it like that's that one exactly.
- 44:50Yeah. Yeah, and they'll they'll what they'll do too, is that
- 44:52they don't quite know me. Like initially they'll start listening off black shows.
- 44:57So you you the dude in Power. No, you're the dude in the
- 45:00wire. No, no, no, you you're the dude and live in
- 45:05Color. And I'm like, we think, right, I love you,
- 45:13God, I love you. So yeah, it's been a blust Yeah,
- 45:19of course. I mean and you you've actually mentioned and maybe this is just
- 45:22one of the things, but we were just curious, like with the show
- 45:24coming to close, like what would you consider one of your favorite memories of
- 45:29some of your favorite memories on the show. You mentioned you're seeing risa like
- 45:31on a everyday basis almost right, or every very frequently, Like, is
- 45:37there some some things that have been during this process that you're going to really
- 45:40hold near and dear to your heart. I think it's just been the camaraderie,
- 45:45you know what I mean, Like, I don't think Marcus says this
- 45:47all the time. I don't think you're ever gonna get a show with like
- 45:52these amounts of like young black men all together, you know what I mean
- 45:58to get you know, at all at a at a similar stage in our
- 46:01career. So you know, there was a lot of cutting up. There
- 46:05was a lot of uh, you know, there's there's there was some arguments
- 46:07too, There was some there some difficult conversations, but there was also a
- 46:12lot of laughter and a lot of fun and a lot of joy and um
- 46:15and in a lot of ways, these are my brothers, you know what
- 46:17I'm saying, And so like that in and of itself, I'm really gonna
- 46:21miss um. I think like doing episode three, you know, doing the
- 46:27spoiler for folks who haven't seen episode three where we do like a black mutation
- 46:30episode for the ODB. I returned to the thirty six Chambers album like that
- 46:36was just we had so much fun. Who may have had a little bit
- 46:38too much fun, you know, according to according to my grandma, who
- 46:42was like, I don't know what y'all were doing, but but like like
- 46:47we just like we you know what I mean, like just have just have
- 46:51an ability to play and play for ten and just you know, and just
- 46:53seeing the range of what these brothers can do, you know what I mean,
- 46:57Like um, and really I think this season in particularly really just allowed
- 47:00us just to like flax and just to stretch and just to really express ourselves
- 47:06in a really wonderful way, you know what I mean. Bro. When
- 47:08you showed up in the Wig in episode three, I almost lost my ship
- 47:14though. I was like, Yo, this man looking like he's straight out
- 47:17not even shafts straight out of the Mac Dog. You was looking like the
- 47:22Mac right there, like Goldie himself with the Wig. God, Bro,
- 47:25I was quite impressed. Yeah, that was the point they wanted me to
- 47:30be. Ron O'Neil, did you you did it? You did it?
- 47:34To a t bro. I was like, Yo, this man could play
- 47:37a young ron O'Neill. They do the ron O'Neill doc right here. Yeah,
- 47:43Like you know, for listeners who know when you were the first when
- 47:45you aren't here the first time. I am one of the biggest fans of
- 47:50Wu Tang, you know, like it goes back obviously with the Woutane plan
- 47:53in itself, and then when the show came out, I had such high
- 47:58anticipation and it's plantations because the documentary had just dropped. That ship was incredible
- 48:04and Wu Tang means so much, you know, to hip hop, and
- 48:07I was just like, yo, please let this ship be good. And
- 48:10then you know he's honest, and then it was fucking great. Like I
- 48:17told you. I remember I was sitting on the train one day and I
- 48:20was just like, yah, I wish Wu Tang could be on every day.
- 48:22You know. I just felt like just shows that I just and as
- 48:30it's going on, you you know, there have been episodes. I want
- 48:32to ask you one, like, um, all right, first I'll ask
- 48:36you this, what was your favorite episode? Not even I know you know
- 48:39you had your big episode, which we will get to, but what was
- 48:43your personal favorite episode of the show. Still my personal favorite is the episode
- 48:49in season two where we first started really getting like, um surreal, Well,
- 48:54I think they're going to like Risk's head and there, you know what
- 48:59I mean, and like being able to like like visually articulate like how a
- 49:06producer like selects samples and how producer chops and screw samples, you know what
- 49:09I mean. Like I think was I think, for me, very very
- 49:13special and still to this day when I watched the episode, I think we
- 49:15were hitting something, you know what I mean, and allowed us to do
- 49:20the more different episodes that we get to season three, to allow us to
- 49:23do the you know, the Cuban lanes, allows us to do the ODB
- 49:27stuff, allowed us to do the liquid sorts, you know. So still
- 49:30to this day, I think that's my favorite. And then I also love
- 49:34m Demani and Jay Kwan and Eyota's episode which was Inspected Decks and you guys,
- 49:43that's the Killer's episode because it just it was so subtle. It was
- 49:46so settled and personal and about families and ultimately, like the Wu Tanks clan
- 49:52stories, the story of families like they're all cousins or brothers or you know,
- 49:58first removed or best friends from down the block, and like you really
- 50:01saw that in that episode. You saw the fact that these are families that
- 50:04are trying to like despite all of the you know, all the drama,
- 50:08despite all the money, despite all of the like the glob of the globe
- 50:12prodding things and the aesthetically thing, at the end of the day, these
- 50:15are these are just people who are who are really trying to like provide for
- 50:19the families and really trying to tell this the stories of their families. You
- 50:22know. Um, so that those two episodes have been my favorite so far.
- 50:27Yeah, no, definitely. Oh but something's coming with the final you
- 50:30got the finale, got something? It's done a drop probably after the finale.
- 50:40Yeah, oh shit. Then then spoiler, I ain't seen it.
- 50:47Yeah, I haven't seen it. You know, we haven't seen it.
- 50:51We haven't seen it. But like but like, but like that ass just
- 50:54follow our instagram because we stayed spoiling ship on our instagram. Who's Paul one
- 51:00of my instagrams. It'll be spoiled for you because like my personal favor was
- 51:07easily that ris An episode because just like you said, it was something when
- 51:09I was watching it and I'm like, oh shit, even motherfucker's went there,
- 51:13and it was something as a writer and as a creator and as a
- 51:16DJ, as a producer, as all these things. It fucked me up
- 51:20so much because I was like, God damn it, somebody beat me to
- 51:22it. You know, first of all, as a writer, somebody beat
- 51:24me to it. And not only did they beat me to it, they
- 51:27did it in a way where I was like, fuck, I don't know
- 51:29if I'd have thought of it that way. And that was brilliant, you
- 51:32know, that was like beyond brilliant, Like I have so much respect for
- 51:36that episode. But then like, yeah, and like you said, how
- 51:38they started doing like the um the JSU episode this season when you did the
- 51:44whole movie about him, you know, doing Liquid Swords and how he was
- 51:46like, y'all, I have to have the family together on this album and
- 51:50it maybe go back and listen to Liquid Swords and realize, yeah, he
- 51:52got everyone back together for that one. And then the Ghost Face when like
- 51:58it had me in tears at the end of that episode when he's sitting there
- 52:00with his shorty and he plays her all that I got is you, and
- 52:05it's like, God damn, that song you know, because it brought me
- 52:08right back to when that song came out and how it crushed me back then.
- 52:13And like she said, this is the man I fell in love with
- 52:15and not a world gets to see it. Sounds like like you said,
- 52:17all these personal family moments and then telling the story to Wou Tang, Like
- 52:22that's another question I want to know, like did you grow up on Wu
- 52:25Tang where you were a fan of Woutang before this? Yeah, I mean
- 52:29I think and I think back, They'll have to go back and see what
- 52:34I said. So if I contradict myself, like apologized, but back in
- 52:37the day, it actually was. So the day Chappelle show was was hidden
- 52:45right at that high school and he first did that sketch with the Wu Tang
- 52:51clan. So that was the first time I was like exposed to like what
- 52:53I was like, Wu Tang Tang. And of course we have the shirts,
- 52:55like you know, you can go to Hot Topic and buybe Wu Tang
- 52:58shirt, right, you know what I mean? And then the Boondocks episode
- 53:01with the blind Nigga swordsman, yeah, yeah and so, and they had
- 53:07guillotines on it, and I was like, and I'm listening to it,
- 53:10I'm like, what is this? And I'm all right, this song is
- 53:14fired? Oh wait wait this is who ghost space k what? And so
- 53:17then my boy, my best friend, burned me a copy of Cuban Links,
- 53:22but he got to give me the first song, so I thought it
- 53:25would not only started on track two. So when someone someone Spotify to Spotify
- 53:31and I'm like, what is this song? This is a special edition so
- 53:42really what that? That was the trajectory it really started, you know,
- 53:45because we had a we had a bit of a return to nineties hip hop
- 53:51in the early two thousands, you know, especially when like bat pack ramping,
- 53:53rapping was happening. It was kind of a return back to listening to
- 53:59that stuff, you know, yea, yeah, yeah. What doing this
- 54:02project was something about Woultang that you didn't that you learned that you didn't know
- 54:06about before. Oh man, um one. I didn't realize like how much
- 54:12of a stranglehold they had on the markets from about was it ninety two nineties
- 54:16three to ninety seven, you know what I mean? Because they were dropping
- 54:20hits after hits, after hits after hits. So I wasn't you know,
- 54:23I wasn't aware of that. I didn't. I wasn't. I didn't realize
- 54:28like how many of them there were. I still don't know if I know
- 54:31how many fifty people? And they keep adding more and more, like I
- 54:37know, I had a coming out of the wood works, like oh,
- 54:38this person, this person, this person. There's a great book that I
- 54:42read, um called from the Streets to Shalloon. I don't know if no
- 54:47I read that one. Yeah, and I read it right. I forgot
- 54:51the name of the person who who wrote it. But it's a really great
- 54:53book and what it does break down the history of woud Tang. But then
- 54:57it also goes through each and every album and that every album. Yeah,
- 55:04it's a really really great book and through it's very it has a lot of
- 55:07lot of information to you know what I mean. I've been I've been day
- 55:09drinking a little bit, so I would have more. This is good the
- 55:15Elijah're gonna talk to you, Okay. So all right, that being said,
- 55:22we did know, like this season you had this episode as defined that
- 55:27where you know, it was centered around you. I was so happy to
- 55:30see it. You know, you got to shine everything. And at the
- 55:34same time, this is one of the most stressful, wild, phenomenal phenomenal
- 55:40writing in direction and also obviously are acting from you. But that was stress
- 55:45and I felt it pour through the screen. Oh that's great, that great,
- 55:50that's that was the when I was speaking to the director, she really
- 55:52really wanted to emphasize that. So the way that it's shot, especially the
- 55:58UM. So what they did is they struck a camera on my body so
- 56:02that way, yeah, yeah, so we can get we can really narrow
- 56:07in. Um. They really wanted to make him very claustrophobic. UM.
- 56:10A lot of the shots are like close in or angles, you know what
- 56:14I mean. So it was very The whole point of that episode was really
- 56:16trying to ratch it up the strength, the stress as much as they can.
- 56:21Yeah, when did you first find out that there would be an episode
- 56:23around Divine? They told me, well, Rizza told me since the season
- 56:30one. He's like, oh I got something, you got something, And
- 56:35I was like, I was like where, I don't know if you know,
- 56:45but there ain't no fourth season, but they had also they don't at
- 56:51the top of the At the top of the season, UM, I sat
- 56:54down with Divine. He talked to me a little bit about what the directory
- 56:57they were going, and then UM, Is also sat down with all of
- 57:00us and told all of us that this season, we're really going to try
- 57:04to give everybody an opportunity, you know what they want. They wanted to
- 57:07kind of send us off with something that we as actors had with everybody gets
- 57:15everybody gets a spotlight at one point in time, which is also a very
- 57:19serendipicous to what they do, what they did as a group, you know
- 57:22what. I'm right, Yeah, that was very perfect because like you know,
- 57:25you got your episode, Power gets His with the Wuwear everything they're going
- 57:30through, and then how they did each of the albums and then you know,
- 57:32we're ending on Wu Tane Forever. And I just thought that was so
- 57:36perfect because I was, you know, like a heavy fan. I was
- 57:38around, I was getting all those albums as they came out, and it
- 57:44was, like you said, it was, it was a crazy time.
- 57:45I remember when they announced the name Utane Forever and I was like, oh
- 57:49shit, like that's some shit. I remember telling my boys like, yo,
- 57:52that's some shit. Like they did this run and now they're coming back
- 57:55with Woutane Forever, Like there's there, you know, that's word is power,
- 58:00like Wou Tang is forever, you know, And I was like,
- 58:02Yo, that's crazy that they got this double album. And then Triumph came
- 58:06out and you hear this sound and it's like, what the flying fuck?
- 58:10You know? This is Woutang forever type shit, right? I mean I
- 58:17was, I was on I mean I was on TikTok and this this young
- 58:21like French producer had a Wootang shirt on and had like, you know,
- 58:24fifteen million followers, so like in fifty millions or whatever, you know what
- 58:29I mean, Like, so it really is forever. I mean, like,
- 58:32fam, I don't know if I got the chance to tell you about
- 58:35this. My uncle Charles like my favorite uncle, right, Like I get
- 58:37so much stuff from this dude. Like he's a music head. His vinyl
- 58:40collection is insane, you know, always staying hip on shit, and I'm
- 58:46always talking about shows, music and everything. And before I was like,
- 58:50Yo, you know what you gotta do. You gotta watched the show Woutang.
- 58:52He was like, Ben, I've already seen every episode. I watched
- 58:58the documentary. He said, Ben, where do I go to get?
- 59:02You know? He's like he tried to listen to the album, but he
- 59:06wasn't sure what you know, order. So I was like, Okay,
- 59:07you can start with like inner or you can start with only built. You
- 59:10know, either one of those, you're good to go. So I'm sure
- 59:14he's listened to everything now. He was like, I gotta buy official merch,
- 59:17you know. And this is a seventy eight, seventy nine year old
- 59:21man, dog like and he is like no, And both of my uncles
- 59:24are heavy fiends, My uncle Charles and my uncle Ted like heavy on this
- 59:29whole. Oh yeah, I mean, it's just the lasting legacy. Like
- 59:36I mean, I I when I learn about U Tang, like I guess
- 59:38that was maybe early two thousands that point, right, So I'm way late
- 59:42in the game, right, being younger, not knowing much. But what
- 59:45you said was funny, Ben about it being forever because to me, like
- 59:49Woutang expanded beyond just like a group, right, it was an ideal it
- 59:52or is right still is right an idea. It's a it's a way of
- 59:58living. It's it's it's a you know, it's a joke. For some
- 1:00:00people, it's a it's you know that you know, WU tank. For
- 1:00:02the kids, it's like, you know, it's like this thing that keeps
- 1:00:06carrying on evolving through the decades and that and you know, regardless of what's
- 1:00:12high offense, you on that staying power is huge. So now alligah to
- 1:00:15see you as part of that because you're part of that legacy now, right,
- 1:00:17and then you know you you you're part of the Woltin client. Like
- 1:00:22I think, do you realize that you're like the sixty sent to member,
- 1:00:24Like I'm like a thousand and one like a lot of kids. Yeah,
- 1:00:32yeah, So I mean, I just I mean, I know you you
- 1:00:36know, I'm sure you've heard it's like over and over, but I just
- 1:00:37want that to be really take that in right, like, because you know,
- 1:00:43and I think that's really cool that the staff and the team and everyone
- 1:00:46wants to everyone to take away something from this, right, I mean obviously
- 1:00:51just the experience itself, but also something for your career, right, something
- 1:00:54that can say, hey, this is this is when he shined or he's
- 1:00:58shown the brightness, right, and this is how he works with other people
- 1:01:00in this and that. So you know, I just I with this episode
- 1:01:06again, this, this this was phenomenal, right, and this and this
- 1:01:07was something that for me I mentioned about seeing that stress, like it just
- 1:01:13made me think back to you as a person, right, like in real
- 1:01:16life, Like how you managing that stress? Like like Divine was about to
- 1:01:21pop bus all blood vessels, like he was hanging on by a thread.
- 1:01:24Right, So I'm like when that's you real life, whether it's through your
- 1:01:28acting or just found myself, Like, how are you handling stress? I
- 1:01:31mean I I so, I that's a good question. Are you drinking?
- 1:01:37Like no, no, So my birthday is around the corner and he you
- 1:01:44know, but but them. So I've learned. I learned. Um,
- 1:01:52this is gonna sound hoky, but I tend to. I try to meditate
- 1:01:55as much as you can, because I did. I struggled when I was
- 1:01:58younger, you know what I mean. Like I think a lot of young
- 1:02:00black men struggled with anger, A lot of young black people in general,
- 1:02:04like six men, six women, trans men, Transpoman and you know black
- 1:02:07people just in general. Um, I struggled with anger, and so I
- 1:02:10would I would pop off in a lot of ways. So I had to
- 1:02:15like growing up, I had to like really figure out how to manage that,
- 1:02:17you know. And so a lot of that is his meditation. A
- 1:02:21lot of that it's just moving my body a lot of that, it's you
- 1:02:22know, breathing. A lot of that is you know, reading, you
- 1:02:25know, and just you know being present as much as I can, you
- 1:02:29know what I'm saying. Um, But if I'm trying to learn lines,
- 1:02:34and you know, people know who are around me, They're like, Okay,
- 1:02:37this is the point in time when we're not talking to a logic,
- 1:02:40you know, because he when he's just pacing in his room talking to himself.
- 1:02:45Yeah, we we'll talk to him in twenty four hours a long time.
- 1:02:49So so you get to need your personal space, Yeah, you need.
- 1:02:52But I think I also like with that episode, we really to go
- 1:02:58back to the episode. I think we were really trying to showcase the amount
- 1:03:01of all the things that were on Divine's played, you know what I'm saying,
- 1:03:07and and all the things that Divine had to deal with to make him
- 1:03:10react the way that he would that he reacted, to make him do the
- 1:03:13things that he did, and the vine in and of himself. I think
- 1:03:19it compared to being a dramattation is I think a little bit more more.
- 1:03:22He managed to stress a little bit more than I show, you know what
- 1:03:25I mean. I think like we we really wanted to see him great.
- 1:03:30We wanted to see him at the end of his rope. We wanted to
- 1:03:34see him make a decision at the end of it, whether or not to
- 1:03:37continue on this journey or not, you know what I mean. So that
- 1:03:39way we can look, we can see what he is sacrificing to keep this
- 1:03:43group together. You know. Yeah, that point that point of view was
- 1:03:47insane. Like you mentioned it, like it's it's like it seems like certain
- 1:03:52decisions that should be easy or dragging, like you know, it's a beleaguer
- 1:03:55decision, you know, convincing one person to do a song with one of
- 1:03:59the biggest artists in the world, convincing people to have a conversation, to
- 1:04:02read a you know, a contract in the middle of a house party,
- 1:04:05you know, trying to please all the quote unquote masters if you will,
- 1:04:10you know, the Mattola's and the Geffens and all the other stuff. So
- 1:04:13it's just it was just very interesting to watch that, and I think even
- 1:04:16as an entry point for people like just to see that and see how much,
- 1:04:20as you mentioned, Divine was really dealing with right and and that dramatization
- 1:04:24or not, that's real life, and that's kind of like a microcosmo what
- 1:04:28you see a lot as you know, people dealing with artists who you know,
- 1:04:30and especially huge group artists like Conclaves artist that's that I can't even imagine
- 1:04:35having to deal with right right right, right right, and and you know,
- 1:04:39and and I think to go back to I think the I think and
- 1:04:44the big thing I think too is like and I think I mentioned this was
- 1:04:45is sacrifice, you know. I think like the fact that like at the
- 1:04:49end of the day, he chooses not to go to his daughter's birthday,
- 1:04:53you know, and um and and that and even though in that episode that's
- 1:04:58just one birthday, how many more birthdays does he miss before? Right right?
- 1:05:03How many more milestones does he miss? You know? And divine end
- 1:05:08of himself is a wonderful father, you know what I mean. I've talked
- 1:05:10to I talked to his daughter, I talked to his son like he's an
- 1:05:13absolute wonderful father. And he says something to me that I really am I'm
- 1:05:16taking away with for the rest of my life. He said, you know,
- 1:05:19when I when I passed, I want to be I want at my
- 1:05:24funeral. I want all my kids around at my funeral to look at me.
- 1:05:27And see that this person took care of me, each individual. He
- 1:05:30wants all his kids there and that is his legacy, you know what I
- 1:05:34mean, how he treated his kids, how his kids are taken care of,
- 1:05:38how his kids are are are able to have their lives and be able
- 1:05:42to you know, prosper you know, moving forward. And I thought that
- 1:05:45was very That's who he's working for. He's working for his family, he's
- 1:05:48working for his kids, he's working for his legacy, he's working for his
- 1:05:51name. You know. Yeah, in a lot of ways. Yeah.
- 1:05:58Now, like you gave under the surface answer right there when you was talking
- 1:06:01about stress, but you're in an industry, as we know that it is
- 1:06:05very high stress, very high stakes. You know, it's cutthroat as hell.
- 1:06:10It can be all these different things. And like you said, this
- 1:06:13is your first big show, so for creatives, for people out there,
- 1:06:16like what was something that or how did you like learn to manage and deal
- 1:06:21with this industry that you're in now, Because now you're at a state where
- 1:06:25you know you're on law and order, you know you're getting these runs.
- 1:06:28I'm sure there's a lot of meetings, you know, things happening behind the
- 1:06:30scenes, counselor Jericho. Yeah, but before councilor Jericho, before Divine,
- 1:06:36you were out here, you know, hungry and working. So like,
- 1:06:40how do you manage that part of the business. I think like you have
- 1:06:44to remind yourself constantly, like why you got into it and not and it
- 1:06:46has to be it has to go pass the money, has to go pass
- 1:06:50the fam It has to go why you as a kid, first society to
- 1:06:55start acting. Whether that's be the teacher, the acting teacher that pulled you
- 1:06:58aside, but that be the TV show that you watched, the games that
- 1:07:02you used to play, the book that you read. You have to cark
- 1:07:05him back to that and that has to be there. You have to feel
- 1:07:10that has to be the engine that kind of drives you forward. I think,
- 1:07:14you know, we we we kind of get caught up in the superficial
- 1:07:18things of this business, and that's a sure far way to not only corrupt
- 1:07:24you, but to send you catering off in the wrong direction, you know.
- 1:07:28So I tend to try to keep that as my north start. Like
- 1:07:31at the end of the day, I do this because I like to tell
- 1:07:34stories, you know, And I do this because I've learned more about myself
- 1:07:40through the characters that I play. You know, when I'm doing I'm doing
- 1:07:44a play here in DC, and at the end of each player there's I
- 1:07:46have a cathartic moment, you know what I mean. Like, so I'm
- 1:07:49playing I'm playing Edmund and king Lear and and so I'm like at the end,
- 1:07:55like the way that we have this blocked, it's like I'm covered in
- 1:07:57blood and I'm like bleeding out at the end of the stage. So,
- 1:08:00um, at the at the show, I go, I go in a
- 1:08:02shower and and I'm watching my character blood kind of like come off me.
- 1:08:08And that's for me, It's a very kind of catharted moment. I'm looking
- 1:08:12at this person who who I am embodying for two and a half hours literally
- 1:08:15get washed down into the drain. And that is strangely deeply spiritual. You
- 1:08:20know. So the more that you can kind of tie it into that,
- 1:08:24you know what I mean, The more that you can tie it into something
- 1:08:26greater than yourself, I think that will point you in the right direction.
- 1:08:29You know. Um, if you if it becomes materialistic, if it becomes
- 1:08:33you know, if it becomes about the awards, it becomes about your followers.
- 1:08:38It becomes it's you're you're dead in the water. You're gonna last maybe
- 1:08:41four or five years, you know, because this industry is too it's too
- 1:08:45unpredictable. It's too unpredictable. Yeah, and it's it's and there's too much
- 1:08:53out of your hands, you know what I mean, there's too much.
- 1:08:56There's um and especially for creatives, were looked as um as products, and
- 1:09:05that can be a very difficult thing to kind of wrap your mind around if
- 1:09:09you don't have something bigger than yourself. Yeah, I hope that answer your
- 1:09:14question. I hope that wasn't just like no, that was a great answer,
- 1:09:16and you know, and and also just very very obviously as creatives,
- 1:09:21whether whatever Spaceierman, whether there's music acting like you get that a lot.
- 1:09:26Like as a product, you're when's the next album coming out? When's the
- 1:09:30next l coming out? You know, like it's it's a NonStop situation.
- 1:09:32It's like, well, I have to get into the zone, and there's
- 1:09:35steps that take me to get there, and then I have to be inspired
- 1:09:39and so on and so forth. And they just want the bottom line,
- 1:09:41when's the next hit coming out? And then if you don't produce or you
- 1:09:44do produce and it sucks, doesn't get where they want it to be.
- 1:09:46Then you're you're on the ground, right, you're trash, and and they're
- 1:09:49moving on in the next And it's very Benam said cutthroat. It's a you
- 1:09:54know this, our society is not conducing into creating art, into creating art,
- 1:10:00you know, like needing to produce for the sake of producing to in
- 1:10:04order to in this it some sort of like funds I want to listen to,
- 1:10:08some sort of monetary exchange is not going to douce it for art,
- 1:10:11because you have to be able to fail for art, you know what I
- 1:10:13mean. You have to be able to take a big risk and and and
- 1:10:17just you know, fall flat on your face if you want to be an
- 1:10:20artist. You know. Um, however, especially in this industry where like
- 1:10:25if you fail, you're dumb, you know what I mean, if you
- 1:10:28do a bad audition, if you have a bad movie, if you da
- 1:10:30da da dada, you know what I mean. And and you're somehow looked
- 1:10:33at as like a lester, you know. And and so you have to
- 1:10:38kind of continue to remind yourself, you have to continue to invest in yourself.
- 1:10:43It has to be a meditation. It has to be a practice,
- 1:10:45it has to be a craft. It has to be like yoga, you
- 1:10:48know what I mean. Because the more let you try to make it into
- 1:10:53some sort of race, into some sort of competitions, you're just you know,
- 1:10:58you're gonna be thirty five. I'm thirty five now. But he'll be
- 1:11:01like, you'll be burnt out too early. Burnt out? Yeah, exactly,
- 1:11:06exactly. Well, I don't want to want to go back to that
- 1:11:11because I want to know what was the first thing that inspired you that made
- 1:11:15you want to tell be a storyteller? Yeah, I mean Star Wars.
- 1:11:25I can see the best of us any particular to Star Wars in general,
- 1:11:31or there's a certain story or something. Well no, no, no,
- 1:11:34I'm kidding, I'm not kidding. But my my my high school teacher is
- 1:11:41what made me into a storyteller. Like what what's wonderful about the way that
- 1:11:45I was My upbringing is my I'm surrounded by artists. So my grandmother is
- 1:11:50as a dance satter, Harlem ballerina, and you know, my mother's a
- 1:11:55writer, and my father we were living my father was living in Sam's school,
- 1:12:00So I was surrounded by these like jazz artists and you know, these
- 1:12:02hippies and all this. So art had always been around, had kind of
- 1:12:06been around me, but it was actually my my high school teacher who would
- 1:12:12be my advocate. So when I was in high school, I was one
- 1:12:15of those kids who was really I was struggling. I was always suspended,
- 1:12:18I had terrible grades. I played lacrosse, but I was like third string
- 1:12:25and you know, but ked getting beat up by the team. So my
- 1:12:31my high school teach, my high school theater teacher, she would advocate for
- 1:12:36me when I went to the principal's office. She gave me something to do
- 1:12:40after school. She was the first person who said, you have something to
- 1:12:44offer this world. You have a talent, You're special, you know.
- 1:12:46I mean, she's the first one who gave me a responsibility. She gave
- 1:12:49me a big role, you know, to play and and that, and
- 1:12:56that inspired me to kind of move forward to kind of chase this business,
- 1:13:00know what I mean. She was like, maybe you should go to school
- 1:13:01for and learn theater. When I was like, I didn't know what to
- 1:13:04do, what to do in school, you know what I mean? Um,
- 1:13:08So I really I really equate hurts being the person that kind of inspired
- 1:13:12me to try to be a storyteller. You know, yeah, that Lando
- 1:13:15calorism, you know, being the only brother, being the only brother in
- 1:13:19space. I was like, I won't be him, and he at a
- 1:13:21kate come on and yeah, like you know, let's let's not forget the
- 1:13:27Kate. Yeah, I'm one of your teacher knows about this, Like how
- 1:13:31you feel? Right well, she sh she passed, um I think in
- 1:13:38early twenty tens. So yeah, so a lot of what a lot of
- 1:13:43what I do? I try to I mentioned her and try to tell Livingstone
- 1:13:45was it's beautiful. Yeah, it's beautiful. So we gotta ask you know,
- 1:13:53we're gonna ask you. So you're gonna be in the next MCU film.
- 1:13:56Like what's going on? I mean, I gotta get enough this.
- 1:14:00I keep like, I keep posting, I keep posting silver Surfer thing on
- 1:14:03on Twitter, being like, yo, you know he could be a brother.
- 1:14:05You want to be trying to I've been yeah, but I've been thinking
- 1:14:13that since we met dog. I've been like, you know, envisioning because
- 1:14:16you know, if you let me step back so you can see, you
- 1:14:18know, Galactus behind me right here, you know, like thickets Galactus in
- 1:14:23the world. Yeah, my obsession is crazy with the character and everything.
- 1:14:27But since we met, I'm like, yo, he got that persona.
- 1:14:30You know you could do that. Calm cool Nora and rad like, you
- 1:14:33know, you shaved the head, like you say, bloom bam, you
- 1:14:35good. I got this animated picture of Nouran Rabber. He looked black already.
- 1:14:40Anyway. He like, let's Luther. So I'm like, come on,
- 1:14:42let's go for it. Like you're just saying that because my head is
- 1:14:45kind of pointy. In his head, I mean a little fam you know.
- 1:14:48We look. You gotta lean into the things that work. Honestly,
- 1:14:55if you wanted Elijah, just put it in the universe because at this point,
- 1:14:59ninety percent of Hollywood has been like their eye has been in you know,
- 1:15:01a piece of their hair. Somebody's been in MCU. You can be
- 1:15:04in the MCU. Okay, you're gonna be in it whatever you want to
- 1:15:08be. Uh. But MCU was side like, are there any like particular
- 1:15:11projects you want to get into or any genres you want to try to jump
- 1:15:14into, whether it be sci fi? I mean we mentioned Star Wars.
- 1:15:16Do you want to go in any directions? Right now. Yeah, I
- 1:15:20think, like I mean, you know, I mean, I grew up
- 1:15:25on sci fi in genre and and so like that, and and the fact
- 1:15:30that like if I can, if I can get in a in a in
- 1:15:32a movie or a TV show, that both my brother and my father in
- 1:15:35particular are sitting there like gigging out. So we remember to think. We
- 1:15:40watched Into the Spider Birds and I watched my father who was who is Afro
- 1:15:45Latino washed this little Afro Latino boy swing around and there were just tears in
- 1:15:51his eyes. And I'm like, if I can make my father cry because
- 1:15:55I'm swinging around in a in a in a cape, then then that would
- 1:15:59be that would be muggle. But um, but personally, I think like
- 1:16:04projects that I'm I really admire. Actually I really admire artists like Ben Stiller.
- 1:16:11So my my hope and my dream is to be able to actually get
- 1:16:15behind the camera and start directing and start doing cinematography, start you know what
- 1:16:20I mean, start being a little bit more part of the architecture of love.
- 1:16:25The script I got. I got a friend of mine who her name
- 1:16:28is Kia Jones, and she's a writer, and um, and she and
- 1:16:30I and I've talked to her about her process of becoming a showrunner and seeing
- 1:16:33all seeing her ability to like just control the story and control the narrative.
- 1:16:39I think it is very very powerful, powerful, especially for people that look
- 1:16:43like us, you know. Um, So that's all. That's like kind
- 1:16:45of my ultimate That's what I'm manifesting that. Thank Yeah, all right,
- 1:16:51we love to hear it and love to see it. And also you now,
- 1:16:56I know I've caught you on off Broadway production up here in New York
- 1:17:00and you said you're doing King Lear. So you do a lot of theater
- 1:17:02as well. So what other projects do you have coming up? Anything that
- 1:17:06you can talk about. I mean, I know certain things you can't say,
- 1:17:10but you know what is going on. Yeah, So I'm back in
- 1:17:13New York doing a little off Broadway play. It's called This Land was made
- 1:17:16written by Tory Sampson. Yes, Yeah, it's that. The It's that
- 1:17:21the Vineyard UM, which is a wonderful, wonderful theater in Chelsea. UM.
- 1:17:27The play is written, it's about it's in set in the nineteen sixties,
- 1:17:31UM around the time that Hugh P. Newton uh and got the altercation
- 1:17:35with Officer Fry and his and his subsequent trial, and it follows this family
- 1:17:40kind of dealing with the aftermath. And I'm playing talking my language, who
- 1:17:45are you playing? I'm playing Huey and well shit ye yeah. So it's
- 1:17:49a and it's a play that, um, I've we've been working on for
- 1:17:53like the past ten years. And so Tory is Tory is fantastic and I'm
- 1:17:58really really uh thankful and blessed that she asked me to kind of join her
- 1:18:02on this, on this next stage of its evolution. So yeah, that's
- 1:18:08when does that open? That opens May sixteenth and runs, Yes, yeah,
- 1:18:15yeah, come through. I got you know, I'm gonna get your
- 1:18:15discounts. You know, he didn't say you're gonna get us in free.
- 1:18:20He said he gonna get us discounts, not get that. No, that's
- 1:18:30that's fantastic And I love to hear that. It's something that you've been working
- 1:18:32on for a long time. So this is something that you have like like
- 1:18:35DNA, and you understand. So I love to get that. That's what.
- 1:18:40Yeah, And all all I've literally done is just rewards Like Tori,
- 1:18:44it's all Tories writing, um and so and she's she's one of these fantastic
- 1:18:48put rights. So I hope you get to see more and more for work
- 1:18:51as as we kind of continue. Yeah yeah, all right, Well you
- 1:18:58have survived the interview segment, but you know it's been a minute since we
- 1:19:02had you here, so we got to bring you back for the rap segment,
- 1:19:05you know, our rapid fire questions. Yeah, that's why I was
- 1:19:10drinking perfect perfect all right, So let's start off with Luke Cage or Black
- 1:19:18Panther. Oh wow, uh Black Panther Oka, He's like he's our Superman,
- 1:19:29you know what I mean, Like he's you know, and like Luke
- 1:19:31Cage like he's the recently the comments, he's kind of fallen. He's kind
- 1:19:34of fallen. Also, spend a minute since I've read a Luke Cage comic.
- 1:19:41I can't lie. All I'm gonna say is we had T'Challa and Seeker
- 1:19:46Wars with the Infinity Gauntlet fucking up God, Emperor Doom and so like that.
- 1:19:54From that, that's my boy. Yeah. I mean, I don't
- 1:19:57even know where Luke Cage was in Super Wars, sad to say, but
- 1:20:04I know where ta Challa was. I guess, all right, Magneto Professor
- 1:20:13X magneto all day, not even a question, not even I'll be.
- 1:20:18I'll be, I'll be part of the brotherhood of It's more exciting. I'm
- 1:20:27like, yea, y'all, y'all yo, yo, you know uh uh
- 1:20:33you x Man this week? No he y'all conforming mother, you know,
- 1:20:40y'all. Let's be good with him and they trying to kill you. No
- 1:20:45Neaton right now, professor X. I don't think so um hip nor damn
- 1:20:54no hipet nor man. That's a mix of the two, right there.
- 1:21:00Um liquid swords or only built for Cuban links, only good for Cuban links
- 1:21:06quick. But that was my first Wu Tang. That was one of the
- 1:21:10first album. But I do think that like only built for Cuban links is
- 1:21:15a it's cohesively just solid, you know what I mean, Like you,
- 1:21:20it's just like solid. It's it's perfection. It is yeah, yeah,
- 1:21:27all right, Superman or Batman Superman because Batman's a fascist. And that's why
- 1:21:36you that, nigga. This is why we know that. The log has
- 1:21:42been listening to fall Nerds for a minute now. Yes, you excellent job.
- 1:21:48Somebody just hit me up the other day and they were like, you
- 1:21:51know, when you was talking about John Wick. You know I understood because
- 1:21:56when you were talking about Batman, that shit caught me off guard and I
- 1:21:59was trying to upset, and so I listened to you. You know we
- 1:22:02always upset people today. Listen, they're like, all right, good job
- 1:22:08read read Kingdom. Come. He literally puts Gotham Study in a police state.
- 1:22:14Wow, I am mad, y'all say John is a villain? I
- 1:22:24might agree. I didn't say that. I mean that I saw you on
- 1:22:28Twitter. I was like, man, do I need to block now?
- 1:22:34You could have joined it and roasted me because everyone else did right now?
- 1:22:39Is he is he completely wrong? No? Um? Was it delivered right?
- 1:22:45But he's not exactly wrong? Yeah? No oh um. That's when
- 1:22:53you know I could we need to add John Wicking to this. But Michael
- 1:22:56Myers, Freddie or Jason? Look, he is Michael Myers, like you
- 1:23:02know, he's Jason. They killed They killed Jason's mom and then he comes
- 1:23:10after them over and over again. They killed his dog. So the Baba
- 1:23:15yaga Mike Myers ready or Jason? And which one would you rather have?
- 1:23:20I could look to have kill you, which I'd rather deal with Jason than
- 1:23:27I'd rather deal with Jason and John w. John Wick got ranged. Yeah,
- 1:23:30No, I I gotta. I got a question. I'm not trying
- 1:23:35to doe that question. I go ahead. I got a question, and
- 1:23:39I asked. I asked my friend this. Sorry, okay, I gotta
- 1:23:42charge my stuff. But I asked my friend, as I said, Batman
- 1:23:45or john Wick, no prep time like versus each other, versus each other?
- 1:23:50Whore you got? Well? John mc got so goddamn plot armor.
- 1:23:54I mean, he never die. SODA's Batman. Yeah, but my thing
- 1:24:00is Batman. The joke and the ongoing theme with Batman is he needs the
- 1:24:03prep time. Right. So if you're saying no prep time, then the
- 1:24:05nigga's not gonna win. I love saying Patman prep time. Nigga, He's
- 1:24:12not going to have prep time if you have and maybe not John Wick,
- 1:24:15but if you have some otherworldly being coming at you, you're not gonna have
- 1:24:18prep time. My god, period. But things he's he's like cyclod for
- 1:24:23He's prep for everything years in advance. You know, it don't matter what
- 1:24:27happens, He's thought about it already. John Wick doesn't have superpowers. Allegedly,
- 1:24:32he doesn't have superpowers, right, he just n fool and the rest
- 1:24:35of all that shit. Right, So he's that's a person at the end
- 1:24:40of the day, and he does get hurt and he does die, right,
- 1:24:43he can die. Batman got the Lazarus fit technically, so right right,
- 1:24:47right right, I'm taking but I'm telling him, Look he like,
- 1:24:55especially no prep time he catching Bruce Wayne blah blah blah. I's over,
- 1:24:58you know what I mean. I mean, it's a human being at the
- 1:25:01end of the day, right, yeah, technically so it was Batman,
- 1:25:03but he got some other worldly shit, you know, I'm taking. So
- 1:25:08look, this man would be falling out of buildings and getting up and running
- 1:25:11off like no problem, Like, no, come on, bro, I'm
- 1:25:14taking this, like I said. And if the only one I wouldn't.
- 1:25:16Jason is the only one out of these you know monsters of Michael Myers,
- 1:25:20Freddy or Jason. It would definitely be could job Wick is murdering you know,
- 1:25:24Michael Myers and and uh and Jason, no problem, he's serving them
- 1:25:29suckers. I don't even know that nigga sleep, So Freddy might not get
- 1:25:33him either, because the nigga, you know, it's always he always up
- 1:25:36bodying people like, come on, you don't sleep, you don't eat,
- 1:25:42you don't you don't sleep, you don't eat, and he don't get on
- 1:25:45the plane. Those three things. Well, no, see if John w
- 1:25:47don't get on the plane, and I'm good on him too, because I
- 1:25:49fly away on his ass, just like just like I went on Jason or
- 1:25:53Michael Myers, I'm flying away on the niggas. That question is not getting
- 1:25:58answered. Not when the John would be on planes, he'd be all over
- 1:26:02the world. How did he get there? Wait? Wait, does he
- 1:26:05not get on planes? And this part of something we have never we have
- 1:26:10never seen him on the plane. But also how did he get from point
- 1:26:13it won't be? Yeah, listen, he'd be he'd be in Japan and
- 1:26:17then he'd be in Paris. Literally like the same thing. You ain't never
- 1:26:21lying, Yeah, I don't know. And also like if you ain't get
- 1:26:25on the plane, what are they just waiting for him to get out of
- 1:26:27there for? So then the stuff sucking him up could imagine they're standing there
- 1:26:30with a sign John Wick, look at her. I got damn it.
- 1:26:38I thought he'd be the limo driver. He had the sentimon bun like just
- 1:26:45this is absolutely ridiculous. Okay, let me ask the question that you that
- 1:26:48you're gonna answer, all right, red Man or methy Man. Oh,
- 1:26:54methem Man because meThe he just meThe Man. meThe Man's got the catalog,
- 1:27:00you know, like you just got just got hits bars for days. Yeah,
- 1:27:06sigmal Manswer. I mean, I'm I'm I'm a Red Man fan first,
- 1:27:12but as far as hits, and that was something I wanted to bring
- 1:27:15up about the show too, because I loved how y'all did that with ODB.
- 1:27:18But the story I heard back in the day is that they had to
- 1:27:23super convince method like give him all kinds of money for him to do the
- 1:27:27Mary J. Blige's remix, which became the biggest hit of all time.
- 1:27:30And it was a struggle to get that man to do it. From what
- 1:27:34I understood, like they you know, I can't remember what it was like
- 1:27:36a bins they gave him or some dumb shit. Wow. Yeah, I
- 1:27:43don't I don't know that. I don't know that story with meth Man one.
- 1:27:47I don't know that story, but I do know the ODB thing is,
- 1:27:51Yeah, it was like it was like, dude, if you don't
- 1:27:54fucking do this thing. Yeah, fucking Mariah Kerry. So that was for
- 1:27:58real. That was for iman. I can't understand like when you're just not
- 1:28:01from that lifestyle and then you can do this, You're just like, this
- 1:28:05doesn't make sense to you, right, Like it's like speaking of foreign language.
- 1:28:10Though, Okay, because I Metho didn't want to be the you know,
- 1:28:12sex symbol, so he didn't like the original. All I need is
- 1:28:15gutter, you know, to beat is super gutter. It don't have no
- 1:28:18chorus like that, it's none of that bounce. And then they're like,
- 1:28:21you know, let's puffy it up, you know, and he was like,
- 1:28:25nah, but you know, it's one of the greatest songs ever made.
- 1:28:28So thanks. Yeah. Well it's also and I'm just I'm just pontificating
- 1:28:31right now, but it's also like I think you were saying this, but
- 1:28:35it really is like they're really in two different camps. It was like the
- 1:28:41pop pop and then there was like, you know, the underground h the
- 1:28:45type wasting, and so for meth to do that, it's like him all
- 1:28:48of a sudden, it was like, Okay, we are going to start
- 1:28:50become more pop, we are going to start cattering to different people, you
- 1:28:56know what I mean. So it is kind of against there. You know,
- 1:29:00they're they're they're manifestos, you know, yeah, yeah, and it's
- 1:29:02like it's I think because this I saw this, some somebody was talking about
- 1:29:05this old and it's hard for people of like this era to understand it because
- 1:29:10everyone sells out now, it's not even considered selling now, it's like what
- 1:29:13you should do, You gotta build your brand. But that's not how people
- 1:29:16looked at it back then, you know, like especially when Moutan started,
- 1:29:19they were like, we were doing this brimy underground ship and this is what
- 1:29:23we're doing. It's like how Griselda is now. And I'm always mad at
- 1:29:27Griselda, like why can't y'all do some you know, commercial shit, but
- 1:29:30Griselda just stays doing Griselda shit, you know, and I respected at the
- 1:29:34same time. And that's how who was at first they were like no,
- 1:29:36fuck that, And it was a different era where you like, now,
- 1:29:40Grizelda, they're rich, you know, could they build a brand off of
- 1:29:43being underground? But who was not rich? Because you couldn't build a brand
- 1:29:45off of being an underground back then. I don't know you couldn't. Yeah,
- 1:29:49yeah, you had to go pop and they were like fuck that,
- 1:29:53We'll just be you know, semi broke or whatever, like I'm gonna keep
- 1:30:01eating. Yeah, I mean they were Yeah when I heard I remember hearing
- 1:30:05that story and then it's like this fucking song is one of the greatest songs
- 1:30:09I ever made. And it's like you didn't want to do this, or
- 1:30:12you didn't want to do the Fantasy remix, like I play that shit at
- 1:30:15every wedding now, like you know Jesus, yeah, stop running from your
- 1:30:20blessings, right, all right? If you have anyone's superpower, what would
- 1:30:27it be anyone's superpower? Whatever? John Wick got plot armor, good writing,
- 1:30:38give me. That's one is what you want? Is you want mean
- 1:30:42on your side? Okay, So any writing room, any any show you
- 1:30:45on, I'm gonna welcome in that writing room and go, Actually, this
- 1:30:47character can't die because we're gonna we're gonna have some convoluted reason that we're gonna
- 1:30:54write into the script every freaking time. Okay, don't worry, I got
- 1:30:57you. I got something for you exactly. Whatever writing room is writing my
- 1:31:03life. I just wanted to play you know what? He yeah, he
- 1:31:06just that plane ain't gonna crash crash, but he jumped out right, he
- 1:31:14got that last part shoot like yeah, all right, um, And speaking
- 1:31:20of you know, dying, what character death hurts you the most in any
- 1:31:25medium? Comics? Film on TV? Oh? Still I think still Eric
- 1:31:31in fun Nac it was fucked. Oh and you can see it an HD
- 1:31:46make it better quality to see the die the death brod. I'm playing to
- 1:31:51the remake right now because I was like this year. This year, I
- 1:31:56was like, I'm gonna play a game until I beat it. So I'm
- 1:31:58playing to the remake and I'm like, ar is so damned spunky and cute,
- 1:32:02and I'm like, you're gonna get stabbed back, you know what?
- 1:32:11Wait? Aris is though, I think it spoiled up for me because that
- 1:32:14shit ain't happened in the in the first part of the remake. That should
- 1:32:15happened later on. You ain't know that I finished. I finished the remake,
- 1:32:20you know, I finished the first part, but that's still the first
- 1:32:23part that like, she's still alive at the end of that ship. You're
- 1:32:28okay, no, yeah, there's still more too. With the second part
- 1:32:31comes out later this year. I think Yeah, No, I didn't play
- 1:32:34the original final. That was my first time part. Yeah I knew he
- 1:32:39was talking about. Yeah, that was my first time playing Final. And
- 1:32:42damn it, I love too. I love dog like I fucking love that
- 1:32:46woman. Yeah, she'd be floating around casting spells and shit like a you
- 1:32:50know, she gets Oh Jesus Christ in the back. I love that should
- 1:32:59be our news show, just spoiling things for people in twenty twenty three,
- 1:33:02twenty years ago, and the shock and disgust on people's faces. No bad,
- 1:33:10Like, god, damn bro, it's pretty bad. They better change
- 1:33:14that shit. Like I just told him sat clous because I had to think
- 1:33:17about it. I was like, maybe because it's been like a year since
- 1:33:19I played the remake, And I was like, when Eric, that's oh,
- 1:33:23then it's one of the greatest tragedies in gaming. Them, Like they
- 1:33:26better change that ship. You know they changed it already, Like that's the
- 1:33:29thing to remake. That's the one thing they can't change. God damn it.
- 1:33:33Ers has got to die. What are they saying? Why the Marvel
- 1:33:38time? That's an immutable That's just one thing you cannot change is the nexus
- 1:33:41point. It's the nexus point you can't change that, like, because I
- 1:33:43don't give a shit about Cloud, Like I don't care about him, but
- 1:33:46all the women around him I love to death like no one does. I
- 1:33:50don't care about Cloud. I don't care about that, you know, the
- 1:33:54black dude. I can't evenmberd. They like Cloud and Supper are like,
- 1:34:00um, what's his name? Cowboy? Bebom are like uh, Spike and
- 1:34:05um yeah yeah, And and in the same way, I barely give a
- 1:34:12shit about them either, I like, I like, I love all the
- 1:34:15people around them. You know, it's like Spike and Visions, who cares
- 1:34:17But the rest of your crew, nothing can happen to y'all, you know.
- 1:34:20Like, so that's the same way I feel about Cloud of Supper.
- 1:34:25I was like, whatever, but all all your home girls, no,
- 1:34:28no, no, no, they gotta fuck Tifa. Yeah, Tifa.
- 1:34:32And that's the other girl, right, Tifa? Okay, yeah, that's
- 1:34:39the boxing girl, right, that's the girl with the hands on She's the
- 1:34:45girl with How can you not love Tiva boy? But Tifa be punching like
- 1:34:51Max, I love it, puts hands on anything. Dog? I mean,
- 1:35:00you don't like Barrett? What about my favorite? They Barry Up?
- 1:35:06I had every time Barrett comes around, I have to put on the Japanese
- 1:35:11subtitle because Mike, because they made him. I was like, bro,
- 1:35:17it made him. It's very strange, just always been strange to me.
- 1:35:28Oh my god. I was like my answers watch crying. This is what
- 1:35:36you think about. We died for this And like I said, I never
- 1:35:45played that ship before, so I had no idea and I walked into this
- 1:35:48and I was like, y'all, let this slide all, yeah, listen,
- 1:35:51It's a classic. Betterman at the end of Day is a classic let
- 1:35:56it go. I also also think this is a classic interview. Elijah survived

- 1:39:13years. I am so for Climp. For Climp, that's a great word,
- 1:39:19but I don't know the rest of the sentence. I'm in a state
- 1:39:23of disarrayed. You know, I'm in a last page of emotion right now
- 1:39:28because Utang American Saga's Indian. It has been one of my favorite shows in
- 1:39:31the last few years and I just don't feel like there's anything else like it
- 1:39:35on TV. And you know, so it's like it's hard to replace.
- 1:39:41But thank you to Julian, Thank you to the cast and crew, thank

- 1:39:46everyone, if you haven't seen it, go out and watching all for all
- 1:39:49three seasons are now on Hulu. Fantastic show. Three seasons tells a complete
- 1:39:55story. If you don't know about the Rutang, you'll learn so much.
- 1:39:58Even if you do, like myself, you'll learn so much and you'll be
- 1:40:00entertained. Full of great young black actors, you know, like Julian was
- 1:40:05talking about. It's where you see all these young black men at this stage
- 1:40:09in their career, all these dudes who are gonna pop off because they're all
- 1:40:12incredible actors. So many incredible actors on that show. So please go peep
- 1:40:15it facts facts, And you thought we was done, you thought we was
- 1:40:23finished, No, because they have been hitting us over the head. This
- 1:40:28is Marvel versus Voutang versus DC, and we got one mode from Marvel from
- 1:40:32the Sony side of things, the across the Spider Verse trailer to look.
- 1:40:41I'm just gonna say this before we even watch this ship looks. I've been
- 1:40:45said that Put Some Boots. The Last Wish is one of my favorite films
- 1:40:51of the year. Already know that this hole is growing in my top five.
- 1:40:57Absolutely end of story. All right, let's see this whole game.
- 1:41:05Oh my god, it's just so beautiful. My name is Miles Moraley.
- 1:41:12I'm Brooklyn's one and only Spider me and things are going great. He was
- 1:41:17supposed to be her spy. All right, whatever, whatever, whatever,
- 1:41:24So are you like a cowward Dalmatian? I am the spot that's not funny.
- 1:41:31Don't don't do that, Miles is great. They're pretty good. A
- 1:41:36and ap physic that's living and to be in Spanish. Miles, are you
- 1:41:43trying me? Now? I gotta go. He's lying to you and I
- 1:41:48think you know it. Danger, Miles, I want to get out of
- 1:41:57here. Who when nyment there's an elite crow with all the best Spider Babel
- 1:42:01in it. Use the new guy, Danger. This is unbelievable. This
- 1:42:06is the lobby l o Harry the whole thing with his idea. What did
- 1:42:13I gotta do to join this Spider team? You can never be part of
- 1:42:15this. Don't even get me started on Doctor Strange and a little Nerd back
- 1:42:18on Earth nineteen ninety. Mamma, go easy. I'm the kid. He
- 1:42:24had a terrible teacher. Heater Miles day day. You have a babe I
- 1:42:29have. I'll take it from here, Miles. Being Spider Man is a
- 1:42:35sacrifice. You have a choice between saving one person, oh and saving every
- 1:42:44world. Send me home. I can't do that. I can do both.
- 1:42:50Spider Man always always What about Uncle Ben? If not for Uncle Ben,
- 1:42:57most of us wouldn't be here. Can't stop me? You ever worked
- 1:43:02forever. I can't lose one of my friends. He isn't what we're talking
- 1:43:08about. You don't. Everyone keeps telling me how my story is supposed to
- 1:43:16go. Nah, I'm gonna do my own. Let stay sure you stop
- 1:43:25the Spider you hey brag. I looked at my uncle. Let me guess
- 1:43:36he died. The Spider Society. Listen, listen, listen. That shit
- 1:43:46is beautiful. Like That's all I kept saying every time I watched it,
- 1:43:49that this is like the fifth time I watched this today. Yeah, beautiful,
- 1:43:53beautiful, beautiful, huge fan of the First Spider Verse. Obviously,
- 1:43:57if you play the PS five game, you even deeper, Like it's just
- 1:44:00the levels of deep that go into the story of Miles Morales and the it's
- 1:44:11like so much energy and emotion behind it, and I don't even know I
- 1:44:17can like fully capture in words what I experienced when I watch this, because
- 1:44:21like you ever watch something like you so into it, your mouth it's halfway
- 1:44:26open, And that's how I felt like it, Like I realized that I
- 1:44:30was kind of slacked joy because I was just like, yo, I'm into
- 1:44:32this, like you back in the story, you back with Miles, back
- 1:44:36with when Peter. You see new people like the animation like it's I didn't
- 1:44:43know they could top the animation of the first one. And this is just
- 1:44:46a trailer fun and this is not even and it's not even like the final
- 1:44:51look. That's the other part people don't realize, like a lot of times
- 1:44:54the trailers is not the final look. There's still more shit they adding on
- 1:44:57it, still more layers, they're adding a still more generating things that you
- 1:45:02know, generative things they have to put on it, like I just for
- 1:45:05it to look like that, And that's what bugs me out so much about
- 1:45:10the way it looks. I love animation, I mean love animation. To
- 1:45:14see it like this, Like I say, I remember, I'll never forget
- 1:45:18going into the first one, and me and Beans shout out to my brother
- 1:45:23Beans. He was standing outside and he was like, Yo, this thing
- 1:45:26might be better. He'd already seen it. He was like, this might
- 1:45:28be better than Black Panther and Goddamn Mother. And then you know, we
- 1:45:32sat there and watched the film and I was like, it's tough. That
- 1:45:36shit grabs you a grip, shoes tough. It's it's it's to this day
- 1:45:41one of my favorite films of all time. And then I'd never seen anything
- 1:45:45that even came close to it until I saw Pussing Boots earlier. This,
- 1:45:49I mean, like last week. And that's why I said, Yo,
- 1:45:51people are you know, they're learning the lessons and Spider Verse and doing all
- 1:45:56these different animation spiles file I mean styles, and messing with the speed the
- 1:46:01frame rate of shots, having different frame rates in the same shot, and
- 1:46:05doing all these different tricks in a big budget stail film. I'm sure these
- 1:46:10trips have been done in smaller films, but in films of this size.
- 1:46:14I hadn't seen it into a Spider Verse. And then I heard the creatives
- 1:46:16all like, yo, everything we did on Spider Verse, we already know.
- 1:46:19We got a top And in this trailer, like you said, you're
- 1:46:23already seen it. That shot of when the way she glows and the yea
- 1:46:28and then the shot of digg. I think she's Digi Spider, the young
- 1:46:30black girl with the digital effects. Yeah, were talking about who she was.
- 1:46:34Yeah, and someone on Twitter said something about DIGGI. I don't know
- 1:46:36that character at all. We see Spiderpunk, we see Starlet Spider, Ben
- 1:46:42O'Reilly, who is Peter Parker's clone. Um. We see so many references
- 1:46:47to comic books and animation, and there's so much stuff that we haven't even
- 1:46:51seen. Like they talk about the Japanese Spider Manager to being here. We
- 1:46:55might see the giant Japanese Spider Man robot. Yeah, is um the real
- 1:47:01one? That the real rumor that's out there? Right? They say they're
- 1:47:04going to five different world or five different or six different or seven I can't
- 1:47:09remember how many, but they've revealed most of them. We're gonna go to
- 1:47:12the Spider Verse where the Spider Man of India is, so we're gonna get
- 1:47:15that Indian style, and like each of these verses are gonna have their own
- 1:47:17different style of animation. We're going into the brit Punk where that's where Spider
- 1:47:23Man. Spider Punk comes from British and he's a black dude under that love
- 1:47:26him Miguel Harris Spider Man twenty ninety nine from the future. So we're gonna
- 1:47:30go to the future. I think we're going to Gwen's world and then one
- 1:47:34of the worlds they're like the Super Secret World, and so the rumor and
- 1:47:40the guests is that's gonna be the live action world, and we might seem
- 1:47:44we might see Miles in live action because they've said this is the Super Secret
- 1:47:50And what could be more secret than doing live action? You already got animation,
- 1:47:54Like what other style? Every animation style? Yeah, so what other
- 1:47:58style could be other than live I would lose my mind. Can't you imagine
- 1:48:02not a portal and becomes live action? I think it's like, can you
- 1:48:08imagine? And they keep that ship secret till be in the theater. That's
- 1:48:12whole place going uh, like, like I mean definitely said we're gonna be
- 1:48:16back in this world. Like the emotion, like the first one was so
- 1:48:19beautiful and everything, but the fucking emotions emotion, Yeah, it always droves
- 1:48:25back to the writing and the writing of that story. There's so many moments
- 1:48:29where I'm like wanted to cry or wanted to jump out of my seat and
- 1:48:31cheer every time I see it. And then you get into this animation that
- 1:48:35it's just beyond everything, and it's skillfully supported by an incredible soundtrack and an
- 1:48:43incredible voice. Yeah, because I'm already what's something You're like, I'm like,
- 1:48:45whoa, that's my ship. Even even when there was a scene where
- 1:48:49it happened real quick where he was flipping through like you know, between bills
- 1:48:54and stuff, and I saw the word flower of here right and just like
- 1:48:56oh my god, you know, like you know, even the callbacks to
- 1:48:58itself, like it's just oh oh man. Then the other thing that the
- 1:49:04creators have already talked about is they said, this is the Empire strikes Back.
- 1:49:08This is the second in the trilogy, and this is going to end
- 1:49:12like Empire strikes Back in a very dark place because the spot you see him
- 1:49:16in this trailer. He seems like a joke, but by the end of
- 1:49:18this film, he's going to be a very either powerful or destructive villain because
- 1:49:24he's going to continue on into the third Spider Verse film. Yeah, well
- 1:49:28that I mean, you know, as as clownery as they're making him seen,
- 1:49:31Like that power that's you're fucking portal, that's scary, that's powerful as
- 1:49:36fun you know, if you if you're not fucking around, you can really
- 1:49:40fuck it up with that type of power. Is yes, and he's going
- 1:49:43to fuck ship up with that type of power. Portal power fuck out of
- 1:49:47him. Yeah, and funny because in the comics pretty much he's always been
- 1:49:50taken as a joke. But they were like, let's take this character and
- 1:49:54connect them because you know, you got pulled up to different verses boom boom
- 1:49:57boom to connect them mental Bider verse, and now he might be terrifying by
- 1:50:01the end of the film. Yeah, like, oh no, I'm I'm
- 1:50:05just freaking excite. I'm I think I'm even more excited for like the surprises,
- 1:50:10like what you're saying that may happen, and yeah, I mean I'm
- 1:50:14excited just to see it. You know, shout out to Frank Abney and
- 1:50:17the team that have been working on the trailer and have been working on this
- 1:50:20project in general. But like, I'm just happy that that we're finally gonna
- 1:50:26get to see, you know, the world again. Just to be there,
- 1:50:30yes, man, I mean just to be there and just be back
- 1:50:31in it and then to like really sit here and talk to y'all. You
- 1:50:35know, speculate all day, but it's like it's a joyful speculation, you
- 1:50:40know, like it's it's it's it's fun um And again after a lot of
- 1:50:45you know, people a color and then they're even doing a storyline that I
- 1:50:51love, like from the comments, not from Spider Man, from you know,
- 1:50:55Miles in particular. But there's a comma back when I was growing up
- 1:50:59called Power Pack, and it was about these kids who had powers and their
- 1:51:01parents didn't know, and they were kids, so they were constantly trying to
- 1:51:05sneak out of their house and ship to go be superheroes and hide the shift
- 1:51:10from their parents. And it was such an ill comicpa for me as a
- 1:51:13kid because it was like, you know, you got the secret, you
- 1:51:15can't tell the people you trust the most, and so to have that in
- 1:51:18the trailer when the woman's like he's lying t yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 1:51:21I was just like, oh, like that. That actually reminds me of
- 1:51:25something that shout out to Fantastic Frankie that she had recently posted about how a
- 1:51:30lot like you're actually starting to see this, particularly with characters of color house
- 1:51:33stuff like this, they can't keep secrets right, like a lot of time,
- 1:51:38and inherently in families like ours, like they're going off your parents,
- 1:51:43is gonna find your parents, is not leaving you to your own devices a
- 1:51:45lot of time, like what the fuck are you doing, especially if you
- 1:51:47live in a large household, especially living house of a color like people's in
- 1:51:50your business. You got people is always in your business. And every time
- 1:51:55you think you too slick and you got a way, somebody gonna find out,
- 1:51:58right, and they may keep it secret for a while. They're like,
- 1:52:00nigga, I knew, I knew you was out there swinging around,
- 1:52:02you know, out there doing crime fighting and shit. So it's just interesting
- 1:52:06to see that dynamic as well. Right, So I oh man, now
- 1:52:11I'm I'm I'm completely excited, completely happy for this because as of now his
- 1:52:15parents don't know, right, because of now as not and according to trailer,
- 1:52:19I mean they they're gonna find out. I mean his dad's a cop,
- 1:52:21though, you know, like he gonna figure that shit out, right,
- 1:52:25but also you know his it's like I don't want to say that under
- 1:52:28estate. I don't want to say that under estate mating him. But it's
- 1:52:30also like that's you're like out of anything to believe you think, oh my
- 1:52:34kid got you know what they say, it's easier to hide things and playing
- 1:52:39slight sighte. Yeah, this is a world where there are other superheroes and
- 1:52:42stuff, but they're not going to think, oh my kid is the one,
- 1:52:44so he gonna be the one to figure out and he ain't gonna he
- 1:52:46ain't gonna tell the mom at first. That's what it is, what I'm
- 1:52:49thinking. Yeah, and he's what I seem to look like. He was
- 1:52:51hanging off of a leg, fell down, y'all. Y'all rewind to watch
- 1:52:57my face for the first time first few times, and I didn't catch that
- 1:53:00shot because I was always focused on Diggi Girl and that whole sequence of the
- 1:53:04spot running and Miguel running that that secreence is so ill to me that I
- 1:53:09didn't catch that shot of that Papa. Yeah that I wasn't ready for that.
- 1:53:15Yeah, I wasn't ready. Yeah. If this shit like blends into
- 1:53:19live action and you see like Tom Holland like that, I mean, but
- 1:53:24no, if it's if it's Miles and I know, but but interaction with
- 1:53:29Tom, I'm not even ready for all that. That's too much. That's
- 1:53:33too much. That's answer too much. I just need Miles too. That
- 1:53:38would be like you I saw throwing shit at the screen, you know what
- 1:53:40I mean? What about Venom? Because you remember in the first Spider Verse,
- 1:53:45I think it was the after currencies and Marestines. That's when they connected
- 1:53:47it to the Venom I don't want to call the Venom verse, but they
- 1:53:50connected it to the live action Venom. It's when he was on vacation in
- 1:53:54Hawaii or some shit, and that's when they saw that a piece of the
- 1:53:56symbio was left behind. So but that's got to do with Tom and that's
- 1:54:00still the man that that ship was still like hopefully this happens one day.
- 1:54:04You know, we're just gonna leave a little back door. Here's the case.
- 1:54:10We need to remember this, you know, Like that was not like
- 1:54:15movies you think, Yeah, just hopefully could they send Vinom back to the
- 1:54:21Tom Holland verse. Yeah, yeah, and they send the Tom Holland to
- 1:54:25the Tom holler Verse verse. That's what it's gonna be. It should be.
- 1:54:30The Tom hollow Verse was occasional, you know, interaction from the MCU.
- 1:54:34That's how it's going to be now, Like y'all wanted it, and
- 1:54:36this is what you're gonna get. So your best hope is that it interacts
- 1:54:41into the Spider Verse because otherwise Tom Holland's options are limited right now. Yeah,
- 1:54:45I'm excited. I am hoping most data. I'm hoping we get first
- 1:54:51DIBs on early screenings and come on, now, well you know, I
- 1:55:00I hope we get first the early screens and I hope to invite y'all to
- 1:55:04these screening shots that everyone who's been to we had, like it just it
- 1:55:09just be coming to us like crazy sometimes, like we've been given a lot
- 1:55:13of passes screenings lately, and we hope that continues. And we, like
- 1:55:16we said before, we hope that continues for other cities. So we can't
- 1:55:19help out the rest of the fan. Mhmm. Yeah, all right,
- 1:55:23Well that is it for our Across the Spider Verse review of the trailer.
- 1:55:29You know, can't wait for this joint. As you said, I mean,
- 1:55:31as we've been saying, we are super hype. This looks like as
- 1:55:34were one of my movies a year. Ain't got to say much more.
- 1:55:38This is like my goddamn Avatar. I just can't. I just want to
- 1:55:40get back into that world, you know what I mean, bring me back
- 1:55:42into Pandora. You know in Harlem eight million dollars eighty say eight hundred billion?
- 1:55:47What ain't BRILLIONA but no, that isn't even enough fun out of Actually,
- 1:55:55when you were talking to my frameworks and stuff, I wanted to say,
- 1:55:57no Avatar. So m m, yeah, it works in animation.
- 1:56:01It does not work for me in live animation technically, no, but there
- 1:56:05are people in it like I need. I know, for this animated,
- 1:56:09I need twenty four frames protecting if you're doing live actions. Look, you
- 1:56:13know, my brain has been trained. I'm not going to get off of
- 1:56:15the look. I mean, that's all this doing. My brain has been
- 1:56:19trained. Fam. I'm not gonna what the whale say to him? What
- 1:56:24the whale say to him? It hurts too much to say it y'all.
