- 1:50Speaker 1: And welcome in. I'm gline to have you with us.
- 1:52Speaker 8: We have a.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Substitute. We've got a substitute in the bullpen. I've told
- 2:00Speaker 1: people that Rusty got sick watching the Rangers for the
- 2:03Speaker 1: last seven days, and I think there's some truth to that.
- 2:07Speaker 1: So he's he's a little under the weather. He's on IL.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Alex Miller is here and we're always glad to have
- 2:13Speaker 1: Alex in Uh and Cease and Alex and I were
- 2:17Speaker 1: at the ELKO conference today where we're talking. I think
- 2:20Speaker 1: it's the shortest one we've had all year, don't.
- 2:22Speaker 9: You think in quite a while? Eleven minutes. I can't remember.
- 2:25Speaker 1: It's usually twenty to twenty three minutes, because I you know,
- 2:28Speaker 1: I take you right, you're right, you're right. Well.
- 2:30Speaker 2: And what was funny was at the beginning he joked about, oh, man,
- 2:34Speaker 2: I'm sure you guys have so many things to ask
- 2:36Speaker 2: me questions. Yeah, yeah, yeah, which I still asked. I
- 2:39Speaker 2: still asked him two questions. You asked him a couple
- 2:41Speaker 2: cease asked him a.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Couple of Oh, it wasn't real. There weren't a ton
- 2:46Speaker 1: of people there today. No, we were talking off about
- 2:49Speaker 1: the president. I didn't even think about that. That was
- 2:50Speaker 1: a really good question about how is this going to
- 2:53Speaker 1: affect you, right, because now you've got a new president
- 2:57Speaker 1: coming in, you've got to break in somebody else.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Uh.
- 3:00Speaker 1: And he he wasn't terribly forthcoming about that. Yeah, I mean,
- 3:05Speaker 1: but I understand why.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Yeah. His main point is he just wants alignment, right,
- 3:10Speaker 2: And I think that's the buzzworth that everybody that everybody
- 3:14Speaker 2: talks about when it when they think of athletic administration
- 3:17Speaker 2: or university administration. You want alignment in.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Which this school, frankly has been notorious not having.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Not having No This will be aam's fourth president in
- 3:27Speaker 2: the last five years. That's here's nell I give a
- 3:30Speaker 2: lot of turnover.
- 3:31Speaker 9: One thing Bork was right on is A and M
- 3:33Speaker 9: lacks stability. When you look at football coach a D president. Now,
- 3:38Speaker 9: he spent too much money trying to make that alignment
- 3:40Speaker 9: that A and M ended up paying. So that wasn't
- 3:43Speaker 9: good on works part. But when you look at the
- 3:47Speaker 9: deal with ELCA right now, I have to laugh that
- 3:49Speaker 9: AAM did this string an open week because right now,
- 3:52Speaker 9: from all I can ascertain, the three were pretty well
- 3:56Speaker 9: in order. Albert Welch Elcho gone along, so no big deal.
- 4:03Speaker 9: Then all of a sudden new president comes in and
- 4:06Speaker 9: I equate it to gone back when Bear Bryant used
- 4:10Speaker 9: to talk about the football, only one thing can be good.
- 4:14Speaker 9: You can stay the same, fall incomplete or you know,
- 4:18Speaker 9: catch it, you know, or get intercepted. Well, it's the
- 4:20Speaker 9: same way. So things could stay the same they were,
- 4:24Speaker 9: get better or got worse. Well, if if nothing changes,
- 4:27Speaker 9: it stays the good. So if your elco you're hoping that,
- 4:30Speaker 9: you know, two out of three beats one out of three.
- 4:32Speaker 1: When do you have an administrator however that comes in
- 4:36Speaker 1: and because everybody always says the same thing, Hey, I
- 4:39Speaker 1: don't want to screw anything up where where you know
- 4:41Speaker 1: we're going great, But when does that ever happen? I
- 4:44Speaker 1: mean a guy comes in, he's got to put his
- 4:46Speaker 1: mark on things.
- 4:47Speaker 9: Right exactly, because one they always say is I foresee.
- 4:50Speaker 1: No major exactly, no major changes.
- 4:53Speaker 9: And you go around behind and people are putting your
- 4:55Speaker 9: stuff in your desk, yeah, in boxes.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, And I mean, what do we know about
- 5:00Speaker 2: university president searches? They take a while. Yes, A and
- 5:03Speaker 2: M may not have a new president in place until
- 5:06Speaker 2: sometime next spring. It's that's very conceivable. And you think
- 5:13Speaker 2: about when Elko was hired, Mark Welsh was still just
- 5:16Speaker 2: the interim president. He hadn't even been named the full
- 5:19Speaker 2: time president. That came the month after Elko was hired.
- 5:23Speaker 2: And not to mention, ross By Orck was the AD
- 5:26Speaker 2: that hired Mike Elko. So now he's got a new
- 5:28Speaker 2: AD who took for all intents and purposes, they seem
- 5:32Speaker 2: to get along just fine. There's not there does not
- 5:34Speaker 2: seem to be an issue or a riff there, but
- 5:37Speaker 2: different ad different president, different chancellor, even from when Elko
- 5:41Speaker 2: is hired. That's that is a lot of change. And
- 5:44Speaker 2: it hadn't even been two years since Elko has been here.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Hey, I've got a theory. If Elko wins the rest
- 5:51Speaker 1: of his games, nobody will care who's above him or
- 5:54Speaker 1: below him.
- 5:55Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a good point, true.
- 5:57Speaker 9: But always what happens is all he might hire a
- 6:02Speaker 9: they might hire president has nothing to do with I likes,
- 6:04Speaker 9: which is very true. But they always have friends and oh, hey,
- 6:09Speaker 9: this guy wants to come or this woman wants to
- 6:10Speaker 9: come be my AD. I hower a lot from you know,
- 6:13Speaker 9: we've been together for twenty years or whatever. You always
- 6:16Speaker 9: worry about when you're when you're looking at that buffer zone.
- 6:19Speaker 9: The president could not care about athletics. Love Elko, but
- 6:23Speaker 9: if he brings somebody in, that's an upshot that, oh
- 6:26Speaker 9: I'm going to be an ad. I'm gonna this is
- 6:28Speaker 9: what I've always wanted to do. And it's what you say, Chip.
- 6:32Speaker 9: Everybody wants to leave their mark. You don't want anybody say, oh, man,
- 6:35Speaker 9: Albert was just Rossbrook number two. That's why we're so
- 6:40Speaker 9: glad that No, you got to be different.
- 6:42Speaker 2: Yeah, you got to be different. And one thing I
- 6:44Speaker 2: thought that was very interesting. If you look at trev
- 6:46Speaker 2: Albert's contract, there is a clause in there that if
- 6:49Speaker 2: Mark Welsh resigned or left his post, that his buyout
- 6:53Speaker 2: would be reduced.
- 6:56Speaker 1: Substantial.
- 6:56Speaker 9: It's not like A and M needs to save money,
- 6:58Speaker 9: like they're going to pay a former coach or something.
- 7:04Speaker 1: Let's have another concert.
- 7:06Speaker 2: Hey, I'd be happy if George Straight came back. The
- 7:09Speaker 2: concert was awesome.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Let's say, let's go. Let's go.
- 7:14Speaker 2: Let's okay. If you if if Kyle Field could host
- 7:17Speaker 2: a concert and you were picking the person to come,
- 7:20Speaker 2: Dolly pardon, that's who do you pick? Yes? Who would
- 7:22Speaker 2: you pick?
- 7:23Speaker 1: Because I cannot afford to go see her in Las Vegas?
- 7:26Speaker 2: Okay, who would you pick?
- 7:28Speaker 9: I'm not a concert guy, you know.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Sorry, Well that's not a surprise.
- 7:34Speaker 1: Uh Eagles for me? Okay, Okay, they could fill the stadium.
- 7:40Speaker 2: I don't. I don't think she would ever come here.
- 7:45Speaker 2: But Taylor Swift, Taylor, she could fill it up, and
- 7:49Speaker 2: she could break the record that George Straight said, no doubt,
- 7:53Speaker 2: and that's something that she would go for. But I
- 7:55Speaker 2: find it hard to believe that she would actually come
- 7:57Speaker 2: to a concert here in College Station, Texas that would
- 7:59Speaker 2: probably have to be in the summer. I find it
- 8:01Speaker 2: hard to believe. Yeah, never say never, but I find
- 8:04Speaker 2: it hard to believe.
- 8:04Speaker 1: I mean, I wouldn't pay to sere, but that's just me,
- 8:07Speaker 1: My my daughter and granddaughters.
- 8:09Speaker 2: My sister. Would she flew to New York.
- 8:12Speaker 1: No, I understand it. She would, she would fill us out.
- 8:15Speaker 1: You just asked me what I thought.
- 8:17Speaker 2: Well, that's fair. But that's fair.
- 8:19Speaker 9: You know, maybe they should get a religious concert because
- 8:21Speaker 9: a needs all the help they can get.
- 8:23Speaker 1: Well, I mean that there's a few that could probably
- 8:25Speaker 1: fill that up to what do you think? Okay them,
- 8:29Speaker 1: come on, Eagles. Eagles might be your pick. I mean,
- 8:34Speaker 1: I've seen the Eagles several times, and they cost a
- 8:37Speaker 1: lot of money. But when you put them in a
- 8:38Speaker 1: hundred thousand seats versus like fifteen thousand, Vin's gill kind
- 8:44Speaker 1: of comes and goes. But yes, the answer is.
- 8:46Speaker 2: Yes, hey making the Eagles relevant. A and M's unveiled
- 8:50Speaker 2: their nineteen seventy five throwback uniforms today, which they teased
- 8:54Speaker 2: last week with a song from the Eagles.
- 8:58Speaker 1: Nice. Well, I talk about this, it doesn't and and
- 9:04Speaker 1: I it doesn't have anything to do with selling extra merchandise,
- 9:08Speaker 1: and that's what I love. They they didn't do it
- 9:10Speaker 1: so they would introduce you know, nineteen seventy they did.
- 9:16Speaker 9: Got those emails. I must have missed that came out today.
- 9:20Speaker 2: Yeah, they're gonna wear them.
- 9:21Speaker 1: I'm just kidding. Oh, that's that's the only reason they're
- 9:25Speaker 1: doing it, exactly. I mean, that's what why why else
- 9:27Speaker 1: would you do it? There's money to be that.
- 9:29Speaker 9: It's all about money.
- 9:31Speaker 1: I don't care about the well.
- 9:33Speaker 2: And what I thought was funny is you know, I'm
- 9:35Speaker 2: in a group text with a bunch of buddies from
- 9:37Speaker 2: college and they're all Aggie fans, and they're like this,
- 9:39Speaker 2: this throwback uniform is just underwhelming. I'm like, guys, this
- 9:43Speaker 2: was a jersey from the seventies that just had numbers
- 9:46Speaker 2: and stripes on it. Like, what do you expect Oregon?
- 9:49Speaker 1: Yeah, no, I see George Woodard running up the middle
- 9:52Speaker 1: of that jersey.
- 9:53Speaker 9: Now I think about it. How about a concert of
- 9:55Speaker 9: Willie Nelson for an hour and a half. Man, then
- 9:57Speaker 9: you bring in Tomlin and I wicked to go ahead
- 10:01Speaker 9: and everybody, everybody, we're all good.
- 10:07Speaker 1: Wow, we're all good.
- 10:08Speaker 2: That would be a time. Yeah, you get you buy
- 10:11Speaker 2: a ticket to that just to people watch.
- 10:13Speaker 1: Would I would buy a ticket?
- 10:14Speaker 2: I would buy a ticket.
- 10:15Speaker 1: Okay, enough of that before we get into football and Auburn.
- 10:20Speaker 1: While I'm thinking about it, Bruce Pearl resigned today, walked
- 10:24Speaker 1: away eleven years.
- 10:26Speaker 9: Uh your buddy too. Did you call you?
- 10:29Speaker 1: They did not call me. But but as I told Rusty,
- 10:33Speaker 1: he will make the perfect United States Senator. I can't
- 10:37Speaker 1: think of anybody that would embody a US senator better
- 10:40Speaker 1: than Bruce Pearl.
- 10:42Speaker 2: Well, that's part of that's part of the plan, right,
- 10:44Speaker 2: Like like with Tubberville running for governor Weberville, there are
- 10:47Speaker 2: many people that think he's gonna run for that Senate's correct,
- 10:50Speaker 2: and it's not. It is not surprising that they announced
- 10:54Speaker 2: this in September when the easy move is to pass
- 10:58Speaker 2: the baton off to his son. He has said repeatedly
- 11:02Speaker 2: that that would be the ideal situation.
- 11:04Speaker 1: By the way, when's the last time that worked out?
- 11:08Speaker 1: Can you can you think of when that worked out?
- 11:11Speaker 9: Because look at Bobby Knight and his son.
- 11:13Speaker 2: I mean, well, isn't Houston gonna try and do that
- 11:15Speaker 2: eventually with the Samsons?
- 11:17Speaker 9: Yes, yeah, good question. Keyword chip has it try?
- 11:20Speaker 1: Yes, I mean, it's just well.
- 11:22Speaker 2: That's good news for A and M because he just
- 11:24Speaker 2: signed a five year contract. They always say those saying.
- 11:27Speaker 9: They say those eight Carns don't fall far off the tree,
- 11:30Speaker 9: except when your coaches.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Well, that's a deal. It was a whole different deal.
- 11:33Speaker 1: I mean, and you know, everybody says, oh, this guy
- 11:35Speaker 1: is a great defensive coach. And he may be. I
- 11:38Speaker 1: don't know enough about it. He may be a great
- 11:40Speaker 1: defensive coach. That has nothing to do with being a
- 11:43Speaker 1: head coach in any sport at a major program, not.
- 11:46Speaker 9: Not in basketball. Three minutes ago and you got trouble.
- 11:49Speaker 9: I don't care what it was or in football.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Doesn't matter.
- 11:51Speaker 9: When you're Notre Dame, you're down by it doesn't matter.
- 11:54Speaker 1: You know, there's a reason these guys make what they
- 11:56Speaker 1: make is because they win those games. And uh, he
- 12:00Speaker 1: may he may be the exception to the rule, but
- 12:03Speaker 1: as you mentioned, Aggie, fans are hoping, you know, he's
- 12:06Speaker 1: not the exception to the role. That's one less program
- 12:09Speaker 1: you have to worry about.
- 12:10Speaker 2: Maybe Bruce Pearl realized he accidentally scheduled Buzz Williams a
- 12:14Speaker 2: game against buzz this year. He had a hard time against.
- 12:17Speaker 9: It couldn't be buzz. What is the best collegiate basketball
- 12:21Speaker 9: or football? Son and son and Matt, I don't know.
- 12:25Speaker 2: I can't think he I mean, Sonny Dyke's played for
- 12:28Speaker 2: national championship.
- 12:29Speaker 1: But that's a good good point. And his dad never did.
- 12:32Speaker 1: But his dad never But that's a good point.
- 12:34Speaker 2: Well, and TCU is starting to prove this year that
- 12:36Speaker 2: maybe that wasn't the one him.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Have a quarterback like he does, you become a pretty
- 12:40Speaker 1: good football That's a good combo.
- 12:43Speaker 9: Even though I wouldn't say Spikes as much success as
- 12:46Speaker 9: the son, but Spike had successful.
- 12:48Speaker 2: Okay, the Bowdens were pretty good.
- 12:51Speaker 1: They were absolutely.
- 12:53Speaker 2: Tommy Tommy was pretty solid at Auburn that Jimbo. Jimbo
- 12:56Speaker 2: got a lot of build up from that.
- 12:59Speaker 9: Yes, I was just going to say, once again, Tommy
- 13:02Speaker 9: just didn't quite match up to what Bobby did.
- 13:04Speaker 1: You Well, okay, that's not fair.
- 13:06Speaker 2: Now he's one of the greatest coach pearl and I.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Will deny that I said this. He's he's going to
- 13:13Speaker 1: be a Hall of Fame coach, right, Oh yeah, okay,
- 13:16Speaker 1: so that's in any level. I've always said, when you
- 13:21Speaker 1: trade a Hall of Fame player in any sport, you
- 13:23Speaker 1: will never ever ever get equal value. Okay, yes you can.
- 13:32Speaker 1: You cannot get equal value getting rid of a Hall
- 13:36Speaker 1: of Fame player. Well, you can't do that with a
- 13:38Speaker 1: coach either, I mean almost never, and especially a coach's son.
- 13:42Speaker 1: So you're right. I mean a m should be happy
- 13:45Speaker 1: that Bruce Pearl, even though they had some success against them,
- 13:48Speaker 1: that he's walking away.
- 13:49Speaker 2: Well, and I think that, if I remember correctly, Auburn
- 13:53Speaker 2: is the second.
- 13:54Speaker 1: Bennett in basketball that week. Thank you, Caleb. There's been
- 13:59Speaker 1: a few.
- 14:00Speaker 2: I think that AM plays Auburn pretty early in the
- 14:02Speaker 2: conference slate this next year. Good, that's good, which could well,
- 14:06Speaker 2: it could be a good thing. We still got to
- 14:08Speaker 2: see how this AE men's basketball team is gonna gel
- 14:10Speaker 2: with all these new guys, this big system. We're gonna
- 14:13Speaker 2: see that's gonna be a work in progress.
- 14:15Speaker 1: Look at us talking basketball and in September, this is
- 14:20Speaker 1: a basketball show.
- 14:21Speaker 9: It always president, that's pro basketball from Duke.
- 14:26Speaker 2: From Duke there.
- 14:29Speaker 1: There, you reach out to play basketball? Yes right, yeah
- 14:32Speaker 1: they did. All right, let's let's talk a little little football.
- 14:39Speaker 1: Unbelievable schedule coming up a week before last was incredible.
- 14:44Speaker 1: This coming week is just going to be amazing, an
- 14:49Speaker 1: amazing time of football. Let's let's start here a bit
- 14:52Speaker 1: a week off. I know A and M fans are
- 14:54Speaker 1: chomping at the bit. I know they're looking forward to
- 14:57Speaker 1: this game on Saturday. Uh. In my opinion, UH, A
- 15:03Speaker 1: and M fans should be looking forward to this game
- 15:07Speaker 1: because I'm still not a fan of the quarterback at
- 15:09Speaker 1: Auburn and what Oklahoma did to him, keeping him in
- 15:13Speaker 1: the pocket and refusing to let him beat them with
- 15:17Speaker 1: his legs. I mean, that's the formula, make him throw
- 15:20Speaker 1: the football. And of course they rushed him, and I
- 15:22Speaker 1: don't know if A and M can put that kind
- 15:25Speaker 1: of rush together, but but they overwhelmed him. He has
- 15:29Speaker 1: appeared to me to be a little slow in his
- 15:32Speaker 1: decision making because there were times he had he had
- 15:35Speaker 1: time and you know, you should have a clock in
- 15:37Speaker 1: the back of your head, and he's waited like five
- 15:39Speaker 1: seconds before he's just getting lit up, right, and I'm going,
- 15:42Speaker 1: you gotta get rid of the ball.
- 15:44Speaker 2: Yeah. Arnolds had an interesting college career. I mean, he
- 15:46Speaker 2: was one of the best, and you watched him play
- 15:50Speaker 2: at guy Er and You're like, Wow, this kid's incredible.
- 15:55Speaker 1: Haibacs and fairness come down the pike like that.
- 15:57Speaker 2: That's true, that's true. But you you think get six
- 16:00Speaker 2: A in Texas that a guy that is proving that.
- 16:04Speaker 1: In the same he has a guy as a head
- 16:06Speaker 1: coach now that has a history with quarterbacks right.
- 16:09Speaker 2: Well, and you know the same could be said for
- 16:11Speaker 2: Cave Club Nicket Clemson right now, Clemson is really reeling.
- 16:14Speaker 2: That's a separate issue.
- 16:15Speaker 1: I never saw that comic, by the way, but Auburn.
- 16:18Speaker 2: And Clemson they're modeled after each other, so maybe it
- 16:20Speaker 2: is a relevant issue. Anyway. I think that I think
- 16:24Speaker 2: that Arnold Elco should be maybe sending Brent Venables a
- 16:29Speaker 2: thank you note this week for laying a little bit
- 16:32Speaker 2: of a blueprint on how to how to stop that offense,
- 16:35Speaker 2: because ain't him had a really hard time stopping that
- 16:38Speaker 2: offense last year.
- 16:39Speaker 9: I'll say yes and no, because I watched the game
- 16:42Speaker 9: one fold. One thing Bred Runnables can do is is
- 16:45Speaker 9: coach defense, and I wonder if he's still gonna make
- 16:47Speaker 9: it because you got to have be able to score.
- 16:50Speaker 9: And then I'm watching the game one fold and a
- 16:53Speaker 9: lot of baggage for Arnold gone back to Oklahoma, so
- 16:57Speaker 9: that's a huge game for him. He didn't give any
- 16:59Speaker 9: interviews during week, and I go, that's probably bad. Even
- 17:02Speaker 9: they could say it's good. But my point being is
- 17:04Speaker 9: I get back to everything that you said, Chip. I
- 17:06Speaker 9: agree one hundred percent how they won the game, but
- 17:09Speaker 9: get Auburn almost won they game they did. That being said,
- 17:12Speaker 9: is Auburn's gonna use that film and say, Okay, this
- 17:16Speaker 9: is what we got to do. Next time they bring
- 17:18Speaker 9: this pasture, next time they bring six, this is what
- 17:20Speaker 9: we're going to do. We're gonna do quick screens to
- 17:22Speaker 9: Coleman over those guys. You're gonna complete a five yard
- 17:25Speaker 9: pass and it's going to be fifty yards. And so
- 17:28Speaker 9: they're gonna adjust. I'm not gonna say it's gonna work,
- 17:30Speaker 9: but they're going to adjust. And so I think they
- 17:33Speaker 9: made Mike Elko's job tougher because I don't still don't
- 17:37Speaker 9: know how good this A and M defense is.
- 17:39Speaker 1: Well you bring that up because they could not run
- 17:43Speaker 1: the football against Oklahoma. No, right, they just absolutely and
- 17:48Speaker 1: finally just quit trying, right, I mean quit trying. They
- 17:51Speaker 1: could not run the football.
- 17:53Speaker 2: Which is in part why you got sacked nine times.
- 17:55Speaker 1: Correct, And as you mentioned, Sason, I'm not sure that
- 18:02Speaker 1: A and M can do that yet they haven't. I
- 18:05Speaker 1: don't know they say that they can do that.
- 18:08Speaker 2: Then here's two things going in A M's favor. One,
- 18:10Speaker 2: they're playing at home. No doubt that's gonna help a
- 18:12Speaker 2: ton Number Two, Auburn's gonna stop A and M's offense.
- 18:16Speaker 2: AM's offense has been pretty dang good this year, and
- 18:18Speaker 2: with a week off to for Reid to look back
- 18:21Speaker 2: at the film, because look, he could have thrown for
- 18:23Speaker 2: five hundred yards if he hits a couple of the
- 18:25Speaker 2: other those downfield throws. Against Notre Dame, he threw what
- 18:29Speaker 2: less than fifty percent of his passes completed. Yeah, he
- 18:33Speaker 2: has so much room to grow coming off of a
- 18:35Speaker 2: game that people are thinking this guy's in the Heisman
- 18:38Speaker 2: conversation now, which is kind of crazy to think. And oh,
- 18:41Speaker 2: by the way, amams run game hadn't even gotten fully
- 18:44Speaker 2: going yet, so I think.
- 18:47Speaker 1: It's got a nice front four. I will say that.
- 18:49Speaker 2: I don't know what the over in this game is,
- 18:51Speaker 2: but I might if I was sports betting, I might
- 18:54Speaker 2: be hitting it.
- 18:54Speaker 1: Because you think there's gonna be points now.
- 18:57Speaker 2: I think there's gonna be points, especially on A and
- 18:59Speaker 2: M's And by.
- 18:59Speaker 1: The way, Russ, he just texted in and mentioned Mike
- 19:01Speaker 1: and Kyle Shanahan. So forget everything I said about sons
- 19:05Speaker 1: not being able.
- 19:06Speaker 9: That more NFL though, but doesn't.
- 19:08Speaker 1: Yeah, but I'm telling you, you know still fathers and
- 19:10Speaker 1: sons that have had success.
- 19:11Speaker 9: I think you still need to put it out there. Okay, Uh, yeah,
- 19:15Speaker 9: I agree with you.
- 19:18Speaker 1: I think this a offense is capable of the ball
- 19:21Speaker 1: gets almost anybody, right. Uh, but man, this is a
- 19:27Speaker 1: this is a different animal starting Saturday. We know that, right,
- 19:31Speaker 1: If you've watched all these games already this conference play,
- 19:35Speaker 1: When that starts, that is a whole different deal.
- 19:38Speaker 9: And I think that's why I never would bet on
- 19:41Speaker 9: a andem football games. I think Auburn's key is to
- 19:46Speaker 9: all control the balls Nickel and don A and m
- 19:49Speaker 9: let Jackson use his leg com meet small price, keep
- 19:52Speaker 9: the ball away from a andem because AAM does have
- 19:54Speaker 9: an explosive offense, and uh, with Dirkin on defense, a
- 19:58Speaker 9: lot of Aggies say, oh, I enjoy that, but he's
- 20:01Speaker 9: gonna put in an extra work. This is a big
- 20:03Speaker 9: game for Dark and so I don't know, I would
- 20:06Speaker 9: bet if I had a better dollar, I'd bet it
- 20:08Speaker 9: would be someone high scoring. You might need thirty five
- 20:11Speaker 9: to win, But then I don't know, because Albert's got
- 20:14Speaker 9: a good place kicker. So if they go ahead and
- 20:16Speaker 9: just Nickel and Dinmy to death and try to go
- 20:18Speaker 9: down and get field goals. This is why what Chip said,
- 20:21Speaker 9: it's a huge game sec opener. And I'm thinking, you know,
- 20:24Speaker 9: and I'm trying to do a calling for tomorrow, and
- 20:26Speaker 9: I'm thinking about, you know, that's a game adem should
- 20:28Speaker 9: have won, but they didn't. And you think about how
- 20:31Speaker 9: few wins Auburn had last year, but that.
- 20:33Speaker 1: Was one of them.
- 20:34Speaker 2: That was one of them. Two other things I think's
- 20:36Speaker 2: going in AM's favor. I think A and M's out
- 20:39Speaker 2: out for a little bit of vengeance on that game
- 20:40Speaker 2: last year after that yet and I think we saw
- 20:43Speaker 2: that in the way that A ANDAM played against Notre Dame.
- 20:46Speaker 2: The other thing is because A andem was actually able
- 20:49Speaker 2: to finish and get over that hurdle against Notre Dame,
- 20:53Speaker 2: that Amam's got thatt Amam's got that mental advantage now
- 20:57Speaker 2: that that intangible that I think will help them if
- 21:00Speaker 2: the game comes down to the line as as Auburn
- 21:03Speaker 2: had last week against Oklahoma. If that's in a similar
- 21:06Speaker 2: situation and they get into overtime like they did last year,
- 21:09Speaker 2: A and has been able to be there, be there
- 21:11Speaker 2: and have finished. I'm curious if that can help them
- 21:13Speaker 2: too in this game.
- 21:14Speaker 9: With I doubt because A and M has been the situation.
- 21:17Speaker 9: I had to chuckle. A and M has had a
- 21:19Speaker 9: lot of signature, a big victory since nineteen ninety eight,
- 21:22Speaker 9: but they just can't follow them up. They have them,
- 21:24Speaker 9: they even have two out of five or whatever, and
- 21:27Speaker 9: they just don't get over it. Now this that was
- 21:29Speaker 9: such a huge victory. Now you have to add to it.
- 21:32Speaker 9: You can't slip up against Auburn. This is all this
- 21:35Speaker 9: to me, This is a must win game because you're
- 21:38Speaker 9: just gonna give back the victory you had. And I
- 21:40Speaker 9: noticed I think the flight spread was six and a half.
- 21:42Speaker 9: So once again, that's one interception, that's one fumble. And
- 21:46Speaker 9: then when you're looking at the SEC so much talented
- 21:49Speaker 9: out there and you're watching, you gotta watch. You couldn't
- 21:51Speaker 9: take your eyes off the Oklahoma Auburn game because you
- 21:54Speaker 9: just didn't know it. You knew one play was gonna
- 21:55Speaker 9: win or one play was gonna lose it.
- 21:57Speaker 2: Well, and you look at you look at how next
- 22:00Speaker 2: month is kind of shaping up. It's not inconceivable that
- 22:03Speaker 2: AAM could go to Baton Rouge in late October and
- 22:06Speaker 2: be seven to oh, probably playing for another first place
- 22:08Speaker 2: spot in the SEC against what's been a pretty good
- 22:11Speaker 2: LSU team so far this year. But Adam's got to
- 22:13Speaker 2: take care of business and that's something they haven't done
- 22:15Speaker 2: in recent years.
- 22:16Speaker 9: Don't slip up, and we've already seen you always worry
- 22:21Speaker 9: about injuries because we're seeing more of it in college.
- 22:24Speaker 9: I think once again, as all these games get down
- 22:26Speaker 9: to one possession, kids are putting out all they have
- 22:30Speaker 9: and then suddenly you're paying a lot for that left tackle,
- 22:33Speaker 9: you're playing a lot for that middle linebacker, and suddenly
- 22:35Speaker 9: somebody loses somebody. It's a big drop off, a big
- 22:39Speaker 9: drop off, because it's just like the NFL. Suddenly they've
- 22:42Speaker 9: got to go to their scout team, and you go
- 22:43Speaker 9: to your scout team, they get they get host and
- 22:47Speaker 9: if you got in college, you're going to go to
- 22:49Speaker 9: your scout team, so to speak, you're gonna give up plays.
- 22:52Speaker 1: Well, we're under fifty two and a half.
- 22:54Speaker 2: Okay, Hi, okay, Well, and to your point about injuries, cease.
- 22:57Speaker 2: I mean, we know that Bryce Anderson's not going to
- 22:59Speaker 2: play this week. I think we're all glad to hear
- 23:01Speaker 2: that he's doing.
- 23:01Speaker 1: Okay, doesn't look like Scooby's going to play.
- 23:04Speaker 2: Yeah, he's he's very questionable. Now. Sanford had a really
- 23:07Speaker 2: great game, but you know that's that's a hard act
- 23:11Speaker 2: to following game. That's one game and he was jacked up.
- 23:15Speaker 2: And so you know, with Auburn's ability to throw the
- 23:18Speaker 2: ball particularly, how does A and M maybe a little
- 23:21Speaker 2: bit thin at safety?
- 23:23Speaker 1: Those receivers are really good and that's as we mentioned,
- 23:28Speaker 1: that was really the only rise we got out of
- 23:31Speaker 1: Elko today is when they.
- 23:32Speaker 2: Asked him, he really kind of went.
- 23:34Speaker 1: He kind of lit up on those guys.
- 23:36Speaker 10: Right.
- 23:37Speaker 1: I as good as Cam Coleman is and he certainly
- 23:41Speaker 1: had a huge role a year ago. Aggie fans won't
- 23:43Speaker 1: forget that. Uh he can make those acrobatic catches. He's
- 23:47Speaker 1: got the speed to get you know, to get separation.
- 23:51Speaker 1: I'm just not a Jackson Arnold fan. I don't have
- 23:55Speaker 1: the confidence that he can. He could do it once
- 23:59Speaker 1: maybe I don't have the confidence he could continually do it,
- 24:03Speaker 1: even if those guys are better than the A and M. Secondary.
- 24:06Speaker 9: Yeah, I've seen enough of Arnold because I watched the
- 24:09Speaker 9: Baylor game because it was on a Friday two and
- 24:12Speaker 9: I watched this game and he ran. He just misses
- 24:15Speaker 9: too many open receivers. And that's my knock A little
- 24:18Speaker 9: bit on read is what you said, Alex, how can
- 24:20Speaker 9: you knock a guy that everybody has in the Heisman race?
- 24:23Speaker 9: And I said, I'm saying, man, he needed to complete
- 24:26Speaker 9: four more passes in Notre Dame. The guys were open,
- 24:28Speaker 9: he wasn't rushed, and he missed them. He's you can't
- 24:31Speaker 9: miss guys when they're that open, because ain't im almost
- 24:34Speaker 9: lost that game. If that guy's incomplete, those misses he
- 24:37Speaker 9: made would have been haunting this team, right.
- 24:39Speaker 1: And I would argue in conference play, it's even more crucial. Right,
- 24:42Speaker 1: It's like mistake. You've already said, what one miss throw
- 24:46Speaker 1: one mistake, But he's taken care of the ball.
- 24:48Speaker 9: And I do like to argue Notre Dame was a
- 24:51Speaker 9: great SEC type game and he went in there and won.
- 24:54Speaker 1: That was huge.
- 24:56Speaker 9: He won despite missing those guys and he protects them
- 24:58Speaker 9: all a lot better than he did last year, So
- 25:00Speaker 9: huge steps forward. But hey, hey kid, it's only one game.
- 25:05Speaker 9: What do you do for me?
- 25:06Speaker 1: Now?
- 25:07Speaker 2: It'll be interesting to see too, how Auburn covers Mario
- 25:11Speaker 2: Craver now that that has been the go to guy
- 25:16Speaker 2: these first three games, and what that does for other
- 25:18Speaker 2: guys like KC or Terry Bussey or Ashton Bethel Roman.
- 25:22Speaker 2: Those two guys haven't really had too much going so
- 25:26Speaker 2: far because Craver and Case have been so good. Quite frankly,
- 25:31Speaker 2: how does Ana maybe open it up and get to
- 25:33Speaker 2: their third, fourth, fifth guy to spread it out a
- 25:36Speaker 2: little bit? If if somebody finally starts to begin to
- 25:39Speaker 2: take away the number one or number two guy a
- 25:41Speaker 2: little more.
- 25:42Speaker 9: And we also know Moss can rush for one twenty
- 25:44Speaker 9: five or one fifty. So what is what is DJ
- 25:47Speaker 9: Darkin gonna take away from A and M. Because that's
- 25:50Speaker 9: my question, what is he gonna do?
- 25:51Speaker 2: He's gonna be smiling on the sideline, That's.
- 25:54Speaker 1: What he's gonna be doing. We're gonna take a break.

- 30:10Speaker 1: Hey, thanks for joining us on this Monday edition our
- 30:13Speaker 1: Writers' Round Tables brought to you by First Financial Bank.
- 30:16Speaker 1: Intach Alex Miller and Robert Sasina the Eagle have joined
- 30:20Speaker 1: us this afternoon. We're mostly talking college football. You mentioned
- 30:25Speaker 1: the Heisman a couple of you guys did, and that
- 30:28Speaker 1: Marcel's certainly getting some run. I still cease and you
- 30:33Speaker 1: need to help me with this. They keep saying. John
- 30:37Speaker 1: Mattier right now is the leading candidate, and maybe people
- 30:43Speaker 1: are seeing what I am.
- 30:44Speaker 9: I'm not seeing that. I mean, you played well late,
- 30:46Speaker 9: didn't make mistakes, small quarter, small palaces ten for ten,
- 30:50Speaker 9: very efficient, but once again, is much like the rankings
- 30:54Speaker 9: which I'm an apo going to laught feedback. Here's the deal.
- 30:58Speaker 9: It's still so early, we still't have enough enough. You
- 31:01Speaker 9: want to throw things out there while three team when
- 31:04Speaker 9: each team plays three gimmes, just wait a while, yes,
- 31:07Speaker 9: wait a while.
- 31:07Speaker 1: Yeah, because we've.
- 31:08Speaker 9: Given to every year we do this, We've given the
- 31:11Speaker 9: heisman already to Kuberaneks. He's throwing it back Nick. Yes,
- 31:15Speaker 9: they give it to excuse me, they give it to
- 31:17Speaker 9: Arch first.
- 31:18Speaker 1: We got it to Arch. But let me just say it.
- 31:20Speaker 1: I said this last week Archy, I think Louis asked me,
- 31:24Speaker 1: is Arch still number one on your list? I said, well,
- 31:26Speaker 1: of course he is. But and this was before the
- 31:28Speaker 1: same Houston game. I said, he's going to have to
- 31:31Speaker 1: prove it. He's going to have to throw a touchdown
- 31:33Speaker 1: pass against Sam Houston, and he's going to have to
- 31:36Speaker 1: complete more than fifty percent of his passes for him
- 31:39Speaker 1: to still be number one on my list. And by golly,
- 31:41Speaker 1: he went out and did it. So I don't know
- 31:44Speaker 1: how anybody doesn't have a never mind. Okay, I'll tell
- 31:47Speaker 1: you who's number one on mine. He's one of mind
- 31:49Speaker 1: to which was two zeros after Haines King. Right now,
- 31:53Speaker 1: right now, right now, I love Haynes King. He's my guy.
- 31:57Speaker 9: When I watch that kid play the clips, I see,
- 32:00Speaker 9: am I crazy? He's great?
- 32:02Speaker 1: But he's my guy right now?
- 32:05Speaker 9: Okay, right now, what I see he's the top three
- 32:09Speaker 9: with the best players.
- 32:10Speaker 2: Okay, he's not going to win that.
- 32:11Speaker 1: He wasn't at Georgia Tech. If he was at Ohio
- 32:15Speaker 1: State or or pick up big school.
- 32:17Speaker 2: Clemson, Texas, A and M. That's funny.
- 32:21Speaker 1: I know TCU. I like Josh Ouver a lot too.
- 32:25Speaker 1: By the way, Hoover's had a couple of gig games.
- 32:27Speaker 1: He can spin it. He can spin it. But but
- 32:31Speaker 1: would there be any doubt he would at least be
- 32:33Speaker 1: in the conversation right now.
- 32:36Speaker 9: That you're right, because he'd get so many Plus he's.
- 32:39Speaker 1: Playing at eleven o'clock every Saturday. He's not playing at
- 32:42Speaker 1: two thirty. He's not playing in prime time. Nobody sees it,
- 32:46Speaker 1: and he's at Georgia Tech, so nobody sees it.
- 32:48Speaker 9: What he's done. What I have to laugh at gone
- 32:51Speaker 9: back in the old days when Oklahoma run the wishbone
- 32:54Speaker 9: and everything. You know, those quarterbacks didn't get penalized. You know,
- 32:56Speaker 9: Mildred was great. If you watch some of the games,
- 32:59Speaker 9: which I every time I get a chance to watch
- 33:01Speaker 9: a little of him play because I like his heart.
- 33:04Speaker 9: Sometimes he misses open receivers, but he's an option quarterback. First,
- 33:08Speaker 9: you got to take that in consideration, the way he
- 33:11Speaker 9: doesn't avoid contact, the way he picks up three or
- 33:14Speaker 9: four yards. He is what's the guy he left Leonard?
- 33:17Speaker 9: He's Leonard plus he's a graduate of Leonard. To me,
- 33:20Speaker 9: he's even better. He wins games with his mind. You
- 33:23Speaker 9: got to put in his heart. Yeah, that's what I
- 33:26Speaker 9: like about him.
- 33:26Speaker 1: If you're gonna stop him, you better put a steak
- 33:28Speaker 1: in his heart because he's gonna beat you.
- 33:31Speaker 2: So this guy's not gonna win the Heisman probably, but
- 33:33Speaker 2: no doubt what No, I'm talking about somebody else. Okay,
- 33:36Speaker 2: But one of my favorite guys that I've gotten to
- 33:38Speaker 2: watch this season is Reuben Baying, the defensive end at Miami.
- 33:42Speaker 2: He has had just a really great season. He was
- 33:45Speaker 2: great against Notre Dame.
- 33:46Speaker 1: He's good.
- 33:46Speaker 2: He was really good against Florida.
- 33:48Speaker 1: He's good.
- 33:48Speaker 2: And on the flip side of that, another guy that
- 33:51Speaker 2: has been kind of a flop so far has been
- 33:53Speaker 2: DJ Lagway. He was a guy that a lot of
- 33:55Speaker 2: people were really high.
- 33:56Speaker 1: On, especially how he finished the year out. Yeah you're going, okay, hey,
- 34:00Speaker 1: we know why this kid was number one. We see
- 34:03Speaker 1: this now, right?
- 34:04Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 34:04Speaker 1: And I don't know, I don't know if it's a
- 34:07Speaker 1: lie because he's getting killed, right, I don't know what
- 34:09Speaker 1: his receivers are like because you don't haven't seen him
- 34:12Speaker 1: enough because he hadn't hit him. Uh, And I agree
- 34:15Speaker 1: with you. I mean he didn't become horrible all of
- 34:19Speaker 1: a sudden.
- 34:19Speaker 9: Well, Lagway and Norris to me, what the same way.
- 34:23Speaker 1: And by the way, Sellers had a really nice game.
- 34:25Speaker 1: Then he almost won that game by himself because they
- 34:28Speaker 1: he didn't have much hell.
- 34:29Speaker 2: He does not have much hell. Look, which is why I.
- 34:32Speaker 1: Look like Leonora's sellars this last wee.
- 34:35Speaker 2: Well, and I was not high on either Florida or
- 34:37Speaker 2: South Carolina going into nor I and I'm like, Okay,
- 34:40Speaker 2: yes they have Sellers, Yes they have Harbor, Yes they
- 34:43Speaker 2: have Stewart and defensive one. But the lines are gone
- 34:46Speaker 2: and you've got three really good all conference players, but
- 34:49Speaker 2: there's not a lot around them.
- 34:51Speaker 9: You're right, you had to put them. I'm talking about her.
- 34:54Speaker 9: You had to put him in top twenty five just
- 34:55Speaker 9: because what they accomplished and they had enough parts back
- 34:59Speaker 9: and once again and if they were both Heisman Trophy
- 35:02Speaker 9: type quarterbacks, you're able to do enough around them because
- 35:07Speaker 9: when you've got Shula is your offensive coordinator. Along with
- 35:11Speaker 9: Shane Biemer, you should be able to devise plans. But
- 35:14Speaker 9: they don't have enough talent, and he's made one. He's
- 35:17Speaker 9: made some bad choices, and so suddenly you go from
- 35:20Speaker 9: a top twenty team that they're both out of the run.
- 35:22Speaker 1: Okay, So I want to talk about a team that
- 35:24Speaker 1: you just mentioned that does have talent, and that's the Hurricanes.
- 35:28Speaker 1: And I do not trust Mario Crystabal No. I do
- 35:32Speaker 1: not trust him. I think with what he has, especially
- 35:37Speaker 1: at the live of scrimmage and even skill position. You know,
- 35:40Speaker 1: Tony at receiver. Those running backs are I mean, they're
- 35:43Speaker 1: really good, really good, and I'm going, man, I think
- 35:48Speaker 1: they ought to be beating people.
- 35:50Speaker 2: Well, I don't have their schedule in front of me.
- 35:52Speaker 2: I do know they play Florida State in a couple
- 35:54Speaker 2: of weeks.
- 35:54Speaker 1: Get the baby schedule.
- 35:56Speaker 2: I know they played Florida State in a couple of weeks.
- 35:57Speaker 2: That's a big game. Florida State's had a great on
- 36:00Speaker 2: this year too. That's a great story. Norvelle has done
- 36:03Speaker 2: a really good job that long.
- 36:04Speaker 1: They looked every bit of the party.
- 36:06Speaker 2: They look every bit of the part.
- 36:07Speaker 1: All right, here we go with Miami, Caleb, that's the
- 36:12Speaker 1: next game. So they have an open date this week. Okay,
- 36:16Speaker 1: Florida State next week, Okay, Louisville's good.
- 36:23Speaker 2: So to your point, I could see them beating Florida State,
- 36:26Speaker 2: coming back home and losing to Louisville, who I don't
- 36:29Speaker 2: think is a bad team at all.
- 36:30Speaker 1: No, I think they're good. But I just don't trust
- 36:32Speaker 1: Mario christ Ball.
- 36:33Speaker 9: Okay, I don't trust him Chip, but I watched a
- 36:35Speaker 9: little bit of the game this week.
- 36:36Speaker 13: Me too.
- 36:37Speaker 9: He's got so much talent. He does, and I go
- 36:39Speaker 9: back to he was he was under Savan, so he
- 36:43Speaker 9: does have a little bit of knowledge. And I thought
- 36:45Speaker 9: about that Saban doesn't screw up. He don't want to
- 36:48Speaker 9: screw up what you have, and so maybe you're a
- 36:50Speaker 9: little bit more conservative. And once again is he's shown
- 36:54Speaker 9: me that not only can he recruit, but he can
- 36:57Speaker 9: recruit at all levels. He's got a nice team. Like
- 36:59Speaker 9: you said, defense, they're loaded to get the quarterback, they're loaded,
- 37:04Speaker 9: and they're in the ACC.
- 37:05Speaker 1: I think that byamy Florida State game, guys is going
- 37:09Speaker 1: to look like the nineteen eighties. Yeah, next week, I
- 37:11Speaker 1: really do well, there's talent everywhere.
- 37:14Speaker 2: Well, and Beck's playing a lot better, and he had
- 37:16Speaker 2: a couple of really rough moments in that game they did,
- 37:18Speaker 2: but you look at you look at the whole body
- 37:20Speaker 2: of work. It was a really good game. A note
- 37:22Speaker 2: on Lagway. There was a report out from one of
- 37:24Speaker 2: the Florida reporters today that Lagway is in a boot,
- 37:27Speaker 2: which is pretty notable.
- 37:29Speaker 1: Before the season, right, yeah.
- 37:31Speaker 2: And and so you know, ams got to play with
- 37:34Speaker 2: Florida and what three weeks Florida's gotta play Texas.
- 37:37Speaker 1: I think there's there's cridinals horrible.
- 37:39Speaker 2: Florida's off this week, but then they got As at home,
- 37:42Speaker 2: and then they come to A and M.
- 37:44Speaker 1: No, they've already played LSU, but they have a streak
- 37:46Speaker 1: of top like fifteen, not just top twenty five.
- 37:49Speaker 2: It's run. They gotta play Georgia. They're playing Florida State and.
- 37:53Speaker 1: I think I played a little Sarkesia in the day
- 37:56Speaker 1: from him. He even mentioned because they played Florida next, right,
- 37:59Speaker 1: he goes, that's schedules.
- 38:01Speaker 9: Through a bowing up for Bellyaby.
- 38:03Speaker 1: That schedule is horrible.
- 38:04Speaker 9: Still as I watch college football, and you guys brought
- 38:07Speaker 9: up Beck, which is a good one. A lot of
- 38:09Speaker 9: times I'm watching and I go, Okay, I'm criticizing Read
- 38:12Speaker 9: and he's a red shirt sophomore. Some of these quarterbacks
- 38:15Speaker 9: are twenty five and twenty six. You're right, and I'm
- 38:17Speaker 9: thinking Reid's nineteen or twenty now true, and there's a
- 38:21Speaker 9: lot of football Beck has seen. He's made a lot
- 38:24Speaker 9: of mistakes, but he knows what to do. And that's
- 38:27Speaker 9: how college football's changed so much. You just didn't have
- 38:30Speaker 9: that experience under center.
- 38:32Speaker 2: Well to your point about that, I saw Kentucky made
- 38:34Speaker 2: a quarterback change today. They're going with the freshman instead
- 38:38Speaker 2: of Calzada.
- 38:39Speaker 9: The season's gone, you mus well, And.
- 38:40Speaker 2: You know, I heard somebody say one time, like you know,
- 38:43Speaker 2: you think about like at a high school ranks right,
- 38:45Speaker 2: if you've got a good sophomore that's a little bit
- 38:47Speaker 2: of a raw product, but you know he's going to
- 38:49Speaker 2: be someone as a junior and senior. Why not roll
- 38:51Speaker 2: with the young kid and.
- 38:52Speaker 9: Let it rip you got to, And let's be honest,
- 38:56Speaker 9: if you're stupents, you're trying to save your job. If
- 38:59Speaker 9: you can win a couple of games the freshman and
- 39:00Speaker 9: show what you're doing, because he's been in a bad spot.
- 39:04Speaker 9: Ever since A and M didn't you brought you brought
- 39:07Speaker 9: stoops up.
- 39:08Speaker 1: Uh, so not everybody could get that third team to
- 39:12Speaker 1: be Kentucky. At what Vanderbilt used to be? Where did
- 39:17Speaker 1: Missouri come from? Well he got insight on that Missouri
- 39:20Speaker 1: was there.
- 39:21Speaker 2: I think Elko is confused about that.
- 39:22Speaker 9: To us, Missouri was there a lot. You know, it
- 39:26Speaker 9: came out floor it was gonna be Mississippi State and
- 39:28Speaker 9: everybody said, but some people did mention. I remember reading
- 39:32Speaker 9: whether it was on SEC dot com. Somebody said, you
- 39:35Speaker 9: know Missouri because since A and M and M came
- 39:36Speaker 9: in together, which does make sense, and let's be honest,
- 39:39Speaker 9: this will probably switch after four years. I don't think
- 39:42Speaker 9: this is going to be the end all end all.
- 39:45Speaker 9: So I didn't. It wasn't shocked when I saw Missouri,
- 39:48Speaker 9: but I laughed. The first thing I looked at who
- 39:51Speaker 9: has who has Kentucky? And who has Arkansas Alabama? That's
- 39:55Speaker 9: what I was looking at. What who whoever plays them?
- 39:59Speaker 9: That's an advance because man, when you start looking at
- 40:01Speaker 9: this nine game schedule, you gotta do five homes meet
- 40:05Speaker 9: or five roads. It's a big Keith got that extra
- 40:07Speaker 9: road game. And if you can add in a gimme
- 40:10Speaker 9: and I get it. You can change things around. But
- 40:13Speaker 9: right now, to me, Mississippi State and Kentucky are not
- 40:16Speaker 9: up with the rest of the peach.
- 40:17Speaker 1: So Mississippi State gets Olabis Vanderbilt Alabama. Of course, Alabama
- 40:21Speaker 1: gets Mississippi State. That long, tough rot, fierce rivalry.
- 40:25Speaker 2: Hey, the Alabama has not played a team more in
- 40:27Speaker 2: its history of the Mississippi State and it's the closest
- 40:29Speaker 2: school to Alabama. Just saying, just saying, okay, all right,
- 40:35Speaker 2: I'll them. Well yeah he did. Hey, how about Misissippi
- 40:39Speaker 2: State though they're four and oh, let Levy's. Levey's got
- 40:42Speaker 2: them four and oh they beat Arizona State. They got
- 40:45Speaker 2: a long road ahead to get the six wins. But
- 40:48Speaker 2: the fact that they got the four is really impressed.
- 40:50Speaker 1: Agree with you. I didn't think they could get time.
- 40:52Speaker 2: I didn't think they would either. I thought they go
- 40:54Speaker 2: to in tent again.
- 40:55Speaker 9: Arizona State coach gave them that dame. You didn't know
- 40:58Speaker 9: Arizona State to their credit. Thing from that I give them.
- 41:01Speaker 1: By the way, it was a stupid law they host
- 41:03Speaker 1: TCU Friday night. Since you've got to turn around after
- 41:07Speaker 1: after that robbery game, even though sunny Dyke said it's
- 41:10Speaker 1: not a robbery game. Uh, they have to go to
- 41:13Speaker 1: Arizona State playing night came out there.
- 41:15Speaker 9: That's a tough one.
- 41:16Speaker 1: We'll know a little bit about both of those teams too,
- 41:19Speaker 1: because I think TCU is pretty good.
- 41:21Speaker 2: Hey, I tell you what, though, from a writer's perspective,
- 41:24Speaker 2: ain't them Having Missouri on the schedule of a year
- 41:25Speaker 2: is pretty great after drink Witz pulled the whole blanket
- 41:28Speaker 2: thing last year. Uh, just just just the Shenanigans and
- 41:33Speaker 2: drink Wooz loves. I mean, we think Sees and I
- 41:36Speaker 2: were one of like the fourteen people that were at
- 41:38Speaker 2: his thing at the SEC media days. He's talking about
- 41:41Speaker 2: conspiracy theories. I mean, he's a walking quote and yeah,
- 41:46Speaker 2: it's a great content.
- 41:48Speaker 9: And he's standing there and uh, of course, uh Staples
- 41:52Speaker 9: is graduating from Missouri forty forty excuse me, Moury, and
- 41:56Speaker 9: he goes, Hey, how comes you'll come to Missouri or whatever?
- 42:00Speaker 2: This first time I've ever talked to you.
- 42:03Speaker 1: It's awesome. We'll take a break, we'll come back. The
- 42:06Speaker 1: Rangers Report brought to you by Shorlty Roofing and the

- 42:12Speaker 14: needed a new roof. Yeah, I shopped around and then

- 42:17Speaker 14: The folks at Shulty guided me every step of the way.
- 42:20Speaker 14: They showed me my options. They told me what my
- 42:22Speaker 14: out of pocket cost would be after insurance. They took
- 42:25Speaker 14: the complication out of an otherwise very stressful situation.
- 42:29Speaker 1: They took off the.
- 42:29Speaker 14: Damage roof, put on the new roof, did all the
- 42:31Speaker 14: clean up, and I had my new roof in one day.
- 42:37Speaker 1: The home by the volley roof.
- 42:41Speaker 9: I'm trivor.

- 43:13Speaker 15: Today, rangers are still mathematically in the running for the
- 43:20Speaker 15: wild card, but they have to be perfect the last
- 43:22Speaker 15: six games of the season and hope that the two
- 43:24Speaker 15: teams in front of them drop all their games. Manager
- 43:27Speaker 15: Bruce Bochie spoke on the minium loss of these last
- 43:30Speaker 15: few games.
- 43:31Speaker 10: Yeah, no doubt we have auto momentum. I mean we're
- 43:35Speaker 10: in a funk. I'm just not scoring runs. And that's
- 43:41Speaker 10: what happened again today. I mean, they pitched great in
- 43:45Speaker 10: this series. They swung the bats, talking ball, Marlin's there.
- 43:51Speaker 10: They played great baseball and we just got to beat
- 43:54Speaker 10: all three games offensively pitching man, and we just couldn't
- 44:03Speaker 10: give them ount something.
- 44:04Speaker 15: Rangers, we'll get back at it Tuesday versus the Twins
- 44:07Speaker 15: at seven oh five. I'm Triver Beck with your Rangers Report.

- 45:00Speaker 1: Hey, welcome back Lenders Round Table for a Monday that's
- 45:02Speaker 1: brought me by Intech and First Financial Bank, where with
- 45:06Speaker 1: Robert Sessen Alex Miller I started the show with with
- 45:09Speaker 1: this weekend slight of football games, guys, and it is
- 45:13Speaker 1: and because it's box and not a ESPN, you're not
- 45:15Speaker 1: getting the hype trade. But Oregon Oregon Penn State. That's
- 45:19Speaker 1: a game that may help decide that's a playoff spot.
- 45:23Speaker 2: Right, we are right, we are we are Hey, but
- 45:27Speaker 2: you've got you've got Oregon at number one in your poll.
- 45:30Speaker 2: You've stood on that the whole season.
- 45:33Speaker 9: I didn't have. What's funny is AP called me. I
- 45:35Speaker 9: didn't have my preseason poll because I had Texas Oregon
- 45:39Speaker 9: they lose. I put him up. AP calls me, and
- 45:41Speaker 9: it's funny because some guy.
- 45:43Speaker 1: Are you sure you want to do this? Is that
- 45:44Speaker 1: what they ask?
- 45:45Speaker 3: You know?
- 45:45Speaker 9: It's some guy in Florida. He goes, he had him,
- 45:48Speaker 9: he had Oregon. He's the only one had an Oregon
- 45:50Speaker 9: number one in preseason, Yes, he said, then Texas loose.
- 45:53Speaker 9: He dropped them what six or seventh? And you go like,
- 45:56Speaker 9: you know, but yeah, I don't. I never question anybody's
- 45:58Speaker 9: voting because it's not easy.
- 45:59Speaker 2: No, it is not easy, and that's been a topic
- 46:01Speaker 2: of discussion lately.
- 46:02Speaker 9: Yes, it has a lot of topic. No, I mean
- 46:05Speaker 9: I get that it is not easy. But I have
- 46:08Speaker 9: to laugh. Is the spotlight will be off ap once
- 46:12Speaker 9: once we go to the college football player.
- 46:13Speaker 2: Yeah, then when you're filling out your poll at five
- 46:16Speaker 2: am in the Indianapolis Airport, nobody's going to pay attention exactly.
- 46:20Speaker 1: But but hey, so Oregon Penn State, what do you think?
- 46:26Speaker 9: Well, you got to stay with Oregon. No, I don't
- 46:29Speaker 9: because the home field advantage, that's what I think. And
- 46:32Speaker 9: you know, when they go there, that's what I travel
- 46:35Speaker 9: their first really big.
- 46:36Speaker 1: But it is an eleven am game, say yeah, yeah, Saturday,
- 46:40Speaker 1: I do.
- 46:41Speaker 9: I do love Landing. He is a good code too.
- 46:43Speaker 9: You got people forget they want to they won, you
- 46:46Speaker 9: know what I remember.
- 46:47Speaker 1: And I'm still vacillating I remember Oregon going to Ohio
- 46:50Speaker 1: State either two or three years ago, and you're thinking, oh,
- 46:54Speaker 1: this a Pac twelve team at the time. Right, It's
- 46:57Speaker 1: like they're playing this mean tough. Yeah, State's always good.
- 47:02Speaker 1: They dominated both lines of scrimmage in that game at
- 47:07Speaker 1: the Shoe and I went, well, that got my attention.
- 47:10Speaker 2: And you talk about Mario, you don't trust Mario christ Bol.
- 47:13Speaker 2: I don't know if I trust James Franklin until he
- 47:15Speaker 2: wins the big amen. That's a big thing.
- 47:18Speaker 9: I've always been a Penn State fan. And there's one
- 47:21Speaker 9: of the guys, one of the Penn State grad about
- 47:23Speaker 9: my age. He'll he'll always email me, I said, until
- 47:26Speaker 9: Franklin does it. He got the job because he had
- 47:29Speaker 9: an easy schedule in Vanderbilt, one of those back to
- 47:32Speaker 9: back years. I give him credit. He said the right things,
- 47:34Speaker 9: he got the Penn State easy schedule. Things fell for
- 47:38Speaker 9: him last year. But until he wins. To me, it
- 47:41Speaker 9: gets to a championship game, he's not a championship.
- 47:44Speaker 1: Talk about about a national championship.
- 47:46Speaker 9: National championship game until he gets there. And maybe that's
- 47:50Speaker 9: asking too much, but I always when I watch games,
- 47:52Speaker 9: I think he always gets ut.
- 47:53Speaker 2: Coached yea, and Landing is a good coach the check.
- 47:57Speaker 9: Mark, but once again to go in the happy valle a,
- 48:00Speaker 9: why out and see if.
- 48:02Speaker 1: He can do that? In my mind, they have to
- 48:05Speaker 1: be the number one team coming out next week. Yeah,
- 48:07Speaker 1: I mean they have to, right yeah, uh uh l
- 48:11Speaker 1: s U ole Miss. I think football, right, I think
- 48:15Speaker 1: that's just and they these It's not like this is
- 48:18Speaker 1: a random game. These teams have a long storied history.
- 48:22Speaker 2: There's a reason that ole Miss is gonna be LSU's
- 48:25Speaker 2: one of their three annual opponents.
- 48:27Speaker 1: Absolutely, they have a long history.
- 48:30Speaker 2: They do. And we were talking about this off the
- 48:32Speaker 2: air and Cease and I talked about it's in the
- 48:34Speaker 2: office today. Kiffin's daughter posts on Instagram today that she's
- 48:37Speaker 2: dating Went Weeks, the stud linebacker LSU the Monday of
- 48:42Speaker 2: the game. I mean that is just dad awesome encourage that.
- 48:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 48:47Speaker 2: I mean Kiffen made that comment last week that he thinks, uh,
- 48:51Speaker 2: the Tulane coach is going to be coaching the SEC
- 48:53Speaker 2: next week. I mean, he's so good at planning those
- 48:56Speaker 2: little seeds.
- 48:57Speaker 1: And it's just in what week, in what era, in
- 49:01Speaker 1: what year? Are we not talking Alabama, Georgia as the
- 49:06Speaker 1: game of the week.
- 49:07Speaker 9: Good point, that's very good point.
- 49:09Speaker 8: Hip.
- 49:09Speaker 2: This is a big game for Kaitlin de Bor. It's
- 49:11Speaker 2: a huge game. It's a huge game.
- 49:14Speaker 1: Much bigger for him than for Kirby, without a doubt,
- 49:16Speaker 1: Absolutely right. But last year's was classic. Remember Alabama runs
- 49:21Speaker 1: out to about a twenty eight to nothing lead or
- 49:23Speaker 1: something like that.
- 49:24Speaker 2: Well, and I think if you're A and M, you
- 49:26Speaker 2: probably want Georgia to win the game to get Alabama
- 49:29Speaker 2: to two conference losses, because I find it hard to
- 49:31Speaker 2: believe that. Well, I guess Georgia still has to play Texas,
- 49:35Speaker 2: and that could that could be a game. But beyond Texas,
- 49:37Speaker 2: I don't see Georgia losing another game.
- 49:39Speaker 9: Georgia gotta play Georgia Tech conference conference about going to
- 49:43Speaker 9: college football playoffs.
- 49:44Speaker 2: Well, that's true. But I'm also thinking if you're A
- 49:46Speaker 2: and M and you think you've got a shot at
- 49:48Speaker 2: making a run to the SEC title game, you probably
- 49:51Speaker 2: just want Georgia to win because that that means Alabama's
- 49:53Speaker 2: got two losses and Alabama Alabama still got to play
- 49:57Speaker 2: some good teams.
- 49:57Speaker 9: Well, if it's twenty one, twenty one or twenty eight
- 49:59Speaker 9: twenty fourth quarter minutes ago. I want one of the
- 50:01Speaker 9: cameramen to go up Goose to book.
- 50:03Speaker 2: De Beer's that games in Athens.
- 50:06Speaker 1: Right, it is between the hedges.
- 50:09Speaker 9: I'm going with Georgia. I mean, you know, it's like
- 50:10Speaker 9: home it.
- 50:13Speaker 1: So before the season I picked Alabama to play Georgia
- 50:17Speaker 1: for the SEC championship game. Now, I wasn't looking too
- 50:22Speaker 1: good early on Alabama. I feel like I'm looking a
- 50:26Speaker 1: little bit better right now. I like Alabama's offense. I
- 50:31Speaker 1: know all about Georgia. I know how tough they are.
- 50:34Speaker 1: I get it. And Georgia doesn't lose at home either. No,
- 50:39Speaker 1: I don't know how many in a row they've wont
- 50:41Speaker 1: at home. It is substantial, okay under Kirby.
- 50:44Speaker 9: But I will say Tennessee's hurry up offense had them
- 50:47Speaker 9: beat if hypel were have coached the game.
- 50:50Speaker 1: Right, Yes, he's hype screwed that whole game up. I
- 50:54Speaker 1: don't think Calin de Boor will screw that game up.
- 50:57Speaker 1: I love how Simpson is playing at quarterback. I think
- 51:00Speaker 1: they have the best quarterback, meaning Alabama. I won't take
- 51:04Speaker 1: Alabama in this game on Saturday. I just think they
- 51:07Speaker 1: have the best quarterback in that game.
- 51:09Speaker 9: You're probably right.
- 51:10Speaker 2: Well, you're ahead of me in Prague, so maybe I
- 51:12Speaker 2: should listen.
- 51:14Speaker 1: There's no way I could be ahead of you.
- 51:15Speaker 2: And Prague, I'm like third to last.
- 51:18Speaker 9: Okay, so I'm probably four. I haven't looked yet because
- 51:23Speaker 9: two graters. I'm already out of it. And uh, well,
- 51:26Speaker 9: you know see, in fact, I was going to talk
- 51:29Speaker 9: to you about retiring. Gary can't keep doing that.
- 51:31Speaker 1: You know, I was going to talk to you. I think, yeah,
- 51:34Speaker 1: I think, I think.
- 51:35Speaker 15: I know.
- 51:37Speaker 1: Well, I've lost the ability. You know, at some point
- 51:41Speaker 1: you got to say, man, you're just too old. You
- 51:43Speaker 1: can't do this.
- 51:44Speaker 2: And you could just go to the dabbo route and keep.
- 51:47Speaker 1: Hey, you want to fire me, fire me. I'll just
- 51:50Speaker 1: go somewhere else and win.
- 51:51Speaker 9: I could go in our nil deal and see if
- 51:53Speaker 9: I get another koozie.
- 51:54Speaker 1: I'll go to the Observer and I don't even know
- 51:58Speaker 1: you can go brend A Banner.
- 52:01Speaker 9: They're too big.
- 52:03Speaker 1: They are too big for me. Hey.
- 52:04Speaker 2: Speaking of Brenham, Chris Guidry made an incredible catch to
- 52:07Speaker 2: win the game on Friday night against Colleen. He had
- 52:10Speaker 2: three guys on him, he goes up and gets it.
- 52:12Speaker 2: They win by two. Big win for the Cubs.
- 52:14Speaker 1: George is a three and a half point pick at
- 52:16Speaker 1: home on Saturday.
- 52:17Speaker 9: That's just the home field.
- 52:18Speaker 1: Yeah, of course it is, that's all. Yeah, so it's
- 52:21Speaker 1: it's one of those there. I'm telling you. I I
- 52:25Speaker 1: would like I've maybe started at eleven am and yeah,
- 52:28Speaker 1: A and m. Auburn's really messing me up in the
- 52:31Speaker 1: middle of the after Maybe they'll move the game for me.
- 52:34Speaker 9: Maybe the new president would do that.
- 52:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 52:36Speaker 2: The two thirty games are tough for us because it
- 52:39Speaker 2: takes up pretty much your whole day and you can't
- 52:41Speaker 2: really watch that much football. That's correct, You're right, he can't,
- 52:44Speaker 2: which is a little bit of a bummer. The one
- 52:46Speaker 2: thing I do like, though, is that you actually get to.
- 52:48Speaker 1: Go to watching college football. I take all the games
- 52:51Speaker 1: I can see, and I just watch on Sunday because
- 52:53Speaker 1: I don't care about the NFL.
- 52:54Speaker 2: Hey, I'll take two thirty though, over seven forty five.
- 52:58Speaker 2: That was brutal.
- 53:00Speaker 9: I actually like to thirty games because you can watch
- 53:02Speaker 9: the eleven o'clock game. Were getting ready for the two
- 53:04Speaker 9: thirty game?
- 53:05Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean half at home and half in the
- 53:08Speaker 1: press box. If you're lucky, Yeah, you're lucky. But yeah,
- 53:11Speaker 1: this is going to be a weekend. I mean it's
- 53:13Speaker 1: it's gonna be where we're gonna know you were talking
- 53:16Speaker 1: about it still early and it is. We're going to
- 53:19Speaker 1: know a little bit more about some teams this weekend.
- 53:22Speaker 1: I think, will we not?
- 53:24Speaker 9: And I want to give a plug out including A
- 53:26Speaker 9: and M. I was very impressed with Texas Tech.
- 53:28Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that was so much what I.
- 53:30Speaker 1: Haven't taped and I haven't watched it, and everybody said,
- 53:34Speaker 1: I read this and and so this is just the
- 53:37Speaker 1: era in which, yeah, it has to be true. This
- 53:39Speaker 1: is the era in which we live. Is that every
- 53:42Speaker 1: time a team like wins the game, with how much
- 53:45Speaker 1: are they spending? So you cannot, no, you can't watch
- 53:49Speaker 1: Texas Tech without saying, well, they they bought a team.
- 53:53Speaker 1: And I'm going I finally heard Joey McGuire last week
- 53:57Speaker 1: before they went to Utah and one said, look, I
- 53:59Speaker 1: know the expectations, right, I mean he's on a hot seat,
- 54:04Speaker 1: right because Cody Campbell sped gold hot see a lot
- 54:08Speaker 1: of money five million on the defensive line. They about
- 54:11Speaker 1: five linemen and a million apiece and from what I
- 54:13Speaker 1: you tell me, I heard their.
- 54:15Speaker 9: Defensive line was really good. I was impressed how physical
- 54:19Speaker 9: they were.
- 54:19Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying.
- 54:20Speaker 9: They could throw them and actually Morton didn't throw that well.
- 54:23Speaker 1: Now, it was the physicality I love said. I would
- 54:27Speaker 1: never think we would get out physically they did.
- 54:30Speaker 9: It wasn't even close.
- 54:31Speaker 1: Wasn't close.
- 54:32Speaker 2: Hey, talking about you talk about how physical college Station
- 54:35Speaker 2: High product Arrington Maiden. He put the game on ice
- 54:38Speaker 2: late in the game in Memphis win over Arkansas because
- 54:41Speaker 2: he muscles through on a third and eight for eleven yards.
- 54:44Speaker 2: He gets kind of in a pile two yards down
- 54:46Speaker 2: the field, gets the first down. That's a big win
- 54:49Speaker 2: for Memphis and Pittman's on the hot seat.
- 54:53Speaker 1: Pittman.
- 54:54Speaker 2: That's the thing is that Adam's about to play a
- 54:56Speaker 2: string of teams where coaches are they're a little.
- 54:59Speaker 1: Real Hugh Freeze.
- 55:01Speaker 9: Yeah, I'm looking forward to that A and M Texas
- 55:03Speaker 9: Tech College football playoff game.
- 55:05Speaker 2: That's what we're gonna be.
- 55:07Speaker 1: We're gonna he started on that. Man, I would I'm
- 55:11Speaker 1: put down money now to see that game. All right, boys,
- 55:15Speaker 1: I appreciate it, Alex, thank you very much.
