[SPEAKER_00]: Five, six, seven, eight, oversharing.
0:11
[SPEAKER_01]: Hi everybody, welcome back to Gilmour to say with Tara and Haley.
0:14
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm Tara, this is Haley.
0:15
[SPEAKER_01]: Hi, Haley.
0:16
[SPEAKER_01]: Hi, Tara.
0:17
[SPEAKER_01]: It's CheeseGal Day.
0:18
[SPEAKER_01]: Coral Day, the court is here.
0:19
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I love her.
0:21
[SPEAKER_01]: I love her.
0:22
[SPEAKER_00]: I love her.
0:22
[SPEAKER_00]: That's friends.
0:23
[SPEAKER_00]: That's friends.
0:24
[SPEAKER_00]: And here's the thing.
0:25
[SPEAKER_00]: I love Tara before she came on the podcast.
0:27
[SPEAKER_00]: This, you hadn't heard of CheeseGal until she came across her desk.
0:30
[SPEAKER_00]: I was in the fan of her account because I think that anyone who would come across her who kind of has that same vibe of what we like.
0:38
[SPEAKER_00]: It's just instantly going to like, you're going to love her content.
0:41
[SPEAKER_00]: Because not only does she have that vibe of, you know, like she's got recipes, home-making, lifestyle, but she's just so funny.
0:48
[SPEAKER_00]: And then I think that once you come across her, like in this interview, I just think I'm gonna love her.
0:53
[SPEAKER_00]: I just, she's so personable.
0:55
[SPEAKER_00]: Like she's just so easy to love and easy to connect to.
0:59
[SPEAKER_02]: She instantly makes you feel comfortable.
1:01
[SPEAKER_01]: And she does that in her content too, but like, in her whole life, it was, we like, yeah, absolutely.
1:07
[SPEAKER_01]: We got on our call before we started recording,
1:10
[SPEAKER_01]: So excited like I've ready to do it and it was so refreshing and I instantly felt comfortable because this can be a nerve wracking experience, you know, time to step on for the first time and then you know you're having this this conversation about Gilmore Girls and that's an easy connector but like there's just something so different about someone making you instantaneously feel comfortable with them and she is so good at that which I think goes hand in hand like you said with home making and cooking and
1:33
[SPEAKER_01]: and being a hostess, and she's got it all.
1:35
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so, so happy for her.
1:38
[SPEAKER_01]: Her book oversharing is one of the reasons she's here to talk to us today, but also because she's a huge Gilmore Girls fan.
1:43
[SPEAKER_00]: Always, that's that's why everyone is always here.
1:46
[SPEAKER_00]: But I feel like oversharing is kind of the perfect sort of companion to the analog bag that we were talking about on Tuesday, because oversharing is her debut cookbook.
1:57
[SPEAKER_00]: Oversharing is filled with comforting recipes that are organized
2:02
[SPEAKER_00]: with easy flavor forward recipes and hilarious antidotes you'll want to immediately text to your best friend oversharing reminds us that the best meals and the best moments are meant to be shared.
2:11
[SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, that's like Courtney in a book.
2:13
[SPEAKER_00]: One hundred percent.
2:15
[SPEAKER_01]: She's like our suki.
2:16
[SPEAKER_01]: She's our suki, uh, which she does talk about.
2:18
[SPEAKER_00]: She's going to do some immediately relate to in this episode, but it came a came across later.
2:23
[SPEAKER_00]: But now she is now she's like a dirty martini suki, if you will, obsessed.
2:28
[SPEAKER_00]: But if you guys have never come across Courtney and you don't know much about her, a little bio for her.
2:33
[SPEAKER_00]: The Nashville-based food in Lysel Crater known online as Cheese Gow, she's known as Cheese Gow because she got her start crafting over the top cheese wards for country music's elite and going viral for her elevated bite-side snacks, caviar on a cell teen, yes please, and airplane cocktails pro tip, carry your own bloody Mary Akutramons.
2:51
[SPEAKER_00]: Now in her debut cookbook, Quirk conveys how she makes every meal feel special, whether
2:58
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that that's like so perfect for why we wanted to bring her on during Gilmour Girl season because whether you're going to binge watch Gilmour Girls by yourself, which I imagine maybe you've been doing that all year long or you have a friend over, you can have little bite-sized snacks that you can make from her book like couch snacks, what is more Gilmour Girls than a couch snack?
3:18
[SPEAKER_01]: The Gilmour Girls would obsess obliterate couch snacks, they would obliterate couch snacks.
3:26
[SPEAKER_00]: Like something they've talked about in years past like how to have a Gilmore Rose Falls like maybe having like a Friday night dinner for your girlfriends or for your family or something like that.
3:34
[SPEAKER_00]: So you can also pull that from this book.
3:36
[SPEAKER_00]: It's truly for everyone.
3:37
[SPEAKER_00]: There's a little bed for everyone.
3:38
[SPEAKER_00]: There's a little snack for everyone.
3:40
[SPEAKER_00]: It's very accessible.
3:41
[SPEAKER_00]: Like even I who like have a dairy allergy was able to go through and do every swap that I need to do for every meal I wanted to make.
3:47
[SPEAKER_00]: So it's really just the perfect perfect little companion piece for you and a lot back this year.
3:54
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, and we said in our episode on Tuesday that we would have a food companion episode and this is the one here it is, but speaking of analog bag, we have an analog bag for you to borrow we do it'll be on sale tomorrow along with our on and festival collection we're so excited we have two really great pieces to kick off our fall season we of course already re-released a lot of our fall faves, but we're adding this to the lineup.
4:20
[SPEAKER_01]: We have an autumn festival summer 2000 tea that you can purchase and all of you went to the autumn festival.
4:26
[SPEAKER_01]: Like this is the like almost.
4:27
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this is the tea that you bought from the like mini gazebo that Kirk has set up.
4:31
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, and and we also have an analog autumn tote and tea both of these designs come in a toe and a tea and a sweatshirt.
4:41
[SPEAKER_01]: And we are so, so, so excited about this one.
4:44
[SPEAKER_01]: We knew as soon as we did our analog on the episode that we had to have a companion piece to it because I think that having an analog, like what's in your analog, autumn bag without an actual analog, autumn bag.
4:54
[SPEAKER_00]: Without offering you a bag, what did it in?
4:55
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, wouldn't it be so green of us?
4:57
[SPEAKER_01]: I've been so, so mean.
4:58
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, even I'd say, yeah.
5:00
[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, so those are on sale now.
5:02
[SPEAKER_01]: I W-W-W-Doc-L-Mor-Z-Doc-L-Mor-Z-Doc-L-Mor-Z-Doc-L-Mor-Z-Doc-L-Mor-Z-Doc-L-Mor-Z-Doc-L-Mor-Z-Doc-L-Mor-Z-Doc-L-
5:06
[SPEAKER_01]: And you can get them in some really fun colors.
5:08
[SPEAKER_01]: I love that you can get a little like match.
5:10
[SPEAKER_01]: They're kind of mixed in match also.
5:12
[SPEAKER_01]: Like we did a little photo shoot with our assistant Morgan.
5:14
[SPEAKER_01]: And she looks so cute wearing like the on and festival team of carrying the analog on and bag.
5:19
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
5:20
[SPEAKER_01]: It's really cute.
5:21
[SPEAKER_01]: And it has a little bit of guidance on it.
5:22
[SPEAKER_01]: Not like total and complete because we talked about a lot of things outside of just what we put on the bag to put in your bag.
5:29
[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, it's a little guideline.
5:30
[SPEAKER_00]: So one of them is about recipes and trying new recipes.
5:36
[SPEAKER_01]: So without further ado, let's talk to cheese gal.
5:38
[SPEAKER_01]: Courtney, welcome to Gilmore to say we're so happy to have you here.
5:42
[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you for having me trust me when I say I have been looking forward to this because we're nothing that I love more than fall in Gilmore girls.
5:49
[SPEAKER_02]: So here we are.
5:50
[SPEAKER_02]: That's two years.
5:52
[SPEAKER_00]: See, I've been looking forward to this because I've been following you for quite some time.
5:56
[SPEAKER_00]: I love, like, there's nothing I love more than a potato chip.
5:59
[SPEAKER_00]: So when I see someone putting something excellent on it, which speaking of, I saw you recently packing your daughter's lunch for school.
6:06
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god, that video.
6:08
[SPEAKER_00]: I immediately was like, how to get adopted as an adult by another adult who's not that much older than you.
6:14
[SPEAKER_00]: Because I was like, I need, I need a Courtney look for it.
6:18
[SPEAKER_02]: to be legally adopted by you know when you have parents and screaming you guys that is how my kid eats like it is the I mean a hundred percent my fault like I'm fully aware but it's beautiful I love that about her but meanwhile my youngest is like
6:33
[SPEAKER_02]: Check it fingers, do you know peanut butter and jelly agree?
6:35
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
6:51
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god.
6:52
[SPEAKER_01]: This girl's palette is so much more sophisticated than mine.
6:55
[SPEAKER_02]: I always say that she's like a known a like someone will come over Oh, are you hungry and she'll and they'll go now and she'll make you something she'll come back swear to you a bowl of popcorn and they're like, this is so good.
7:06
[SPEAKER_02]: Would you know she's like a little olive oil or a little flaky Salt a little purple.
7:09
[SPEAKER_02]: She'll grate a little parr.
7:10
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean this child I'm obsessed with her She's like many like you've done everything right
7:16
[SPEAKER_02]: I do feel like that's the one like sign.
7:19
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, okay, we're on the right track.
7:20
[SPEAKER_02]: We're in the right track.
7:21
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I was starting way earlier than you.
7:23
[SPEAKER_02]: She's going to succeed you.
7:25
[SPEAKER_02]: Did you see the video of her, I asked, I said, okay, would you do a video telling people why they should buy a mommy's cookbook?
7:31
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, no, I didn't see that one.
7:33
[SPEAKER_02]: What did she tell you?
7:34
[SPEAKER_02]: You've got to see it here.
7:35
[SPEAKER_02]: Like all I did was set the phone down and I said just tell them why they should buy it If there's a certain recipe that comes to mind that you remember loving tell me how you eat so she goes to it's the funniest thing in the at the very end She's like you should buy it.
7:48
[SPEAKER_02]: No regrets
7:52
[SPEAKER_01]: I love her.
7:53
[SPEAKER_01]: I love that so much because you know with kids, it's organic.
7:57
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, they're just, they tell it how it is.
7:58
[SPEAKER_01]: The stakes are low, no filter.
8:00
[SPEAKER_01]: They're just like, you can get an honest opinion from a child.
8:04
[SPEAKER_01]: And that's how I know this is honest.
8:07
[SPEAKER_01]: So, yeah.
8:08
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm trying to get a little too honest.
8:09
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm trying to get a little too honest.
8:10
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm trying to get a little too honest.
8:11
[SPEAKER_00]: I know sometimes I like workshop a new outfit and my like niece who's three, I'll come and see her and she goes, I like your pajamas and I'm like, it's an outfit, she goes, oh, I like your outfit.
8:21
[SPEAKER_02]: And I was like, things more cutting.
8:22
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I let me go change.
8:25
[SPEAKER_02]: Let me go change.
8:25
[SPEAKER_02]: I want to burn that now, so.
8:27
[SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
8:27
[SPEAKER_02]: Like that, to bed tonight.
8:28
[SPEAKER_02]: No, no, no, no.
8:29
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
8:30
[SPEAKER_00]: But like, speaking of like, I guess raising your daughter this way, she's seeing you doing this for so long.
8:36
[SPEAKER_00]: Can you tell her audience a little bit about how you got started as cheese gal on the cheese gal?
8:41
[SPEAKER_02]: I will to start.
8:43
[SPEAKER_02]: I love cheese, which is kind of the brand at this point.
8:47
[SPEAKER_02]: So a little bit about me, I've always loved hosting, entertaining, naturally loved food.
8:53
[SPEAKER_02]: All of my favorite memories truly are around the table.
8:56
[SPEAKER_02]: We're around food of some sort, right?
8:58
[SPEAKER_02]: Always associated.
9:00
[SPEAKER_02]: Over the years, I have just loved opening my home entertaining.
9:03
[SPEAKER_02]: And so there was a point in my early 20s when my cheese board game, like really leveled up.
9:08
[SPEAKER_02]: And I kind of became like the go-to friend in the group who would do the boards for baby showers, bridal showers, part, you know what I mean?
9:16
[SPEAKER_02]: I just like would do all these, you were the cheese salad, almost the cheese gal.
9:20
[SPEAKER_02]: And my husband was on tour at the time when we had Charlotte was only like a year and a half maybe and he came home one day and he was like, I made a cheese board for dinner.
9:29
[SPEAKER_02]: He goes, have you thought about doing this?
9:31
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, you know, you think people would pay for this?
9:39
[SPEAKER_02]: It blew up on Instagram and didn't have a website for like two years or something like Instagram was my website and it just like exploded Chris is in country music and I was in the cheeseboard business, but like they overlap the people I was doing boards for he was writing with and so anyway one thing led to the other
9:55
[SPEAKER_02]: built the business simultaneously as I was building my basically like my creator brand and content and it just came to a point where I was like I really want to do this full time and so I closed that part of it down and instead of having the cheese gal business brick and mortar it became the brand.
10:14
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, yeah, she's got all teaching people how to make fabulous drinks and my hosting tips and then I got into developing recipes and all the things and now I'm my first debut cookbook over sharing just published, which is so exciting.
10:29
[SPEAKER_02]: It's such a dream come true.
10:30
[SPEAKER_02]: When I just think to myself, I'm like, oh my god, how did how did this all happen?
10:34
[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, that's a little bit about me.
10:35
[SPEAKER_02]: Love cheese.
10:35
[SPEAKER_01]: Love good martini, love toast.
10:38
[SPEAKER_01]: and congratulations on your book.
10:39
[SPEAKER_01]: It's such a feat.
10:40
[SPEAKER_01]: Especially the first one.
10:42
[SPEAKER_01]: It just feels like, oh my gosh, it's such a pinched me moment.
10:45
[SPEAKER_01]: I imagine.
10:45
[SPEAKER_01]: Truly.
10:47
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I, when I was a kid, there are literal home videos of me with my teddy bears.
10:53
[SPEAKER_02]: That's my audience.
10:54
[SPEAKER_02]: And there were two in particular that were built named Dan.
10:56
[SPEAKER_02]: And those were my cameraman.
10:58
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh good.
10:59
[SPEAKER_02]: Dan, thank you, Dan.
11:00
[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to talk to you because you need to get it like I wanted to have with the show my old joke and like, man, are you going to camera like I just love it.
11:09
[SPEAKER_00]: We need to get you a show and we need to get you teddy bears that you talk to throughout dancing dance.
11:15
[SPEAKER_00]: No, I know.
11:16
[SPEAKER_02]: It really is such a tense moment.
11:18
[SPEAKER_02]: It's so crazy.
11:19
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, oh my god, it's been three years in the making from the first book meeting until pub date.
11:25
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god, that's a labor of love.
11:27
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, for sure.
11:27
[SPEAKER_01]: I imagine.
11:28
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, this book is so dense and you can tell that it's not just about the food.
11:34
[SPEAKER_01]: It's also about you, your story, your aesthetic because we, of course, saw your episode with Kenzie Elizabeth, friend of the pod and she had so much to say about the aesthetic of your home, which is so perfect because it is beautifully curated.
11:47
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
11:48
[SPEAKER_00]: And I feel that you can see a little bit of it.
11:50
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you can do preview in the background.
11:52
[SPEAKER_01]: but I feel like that speaks to the brand, like you said that you've created.
11:57
[SPEAKER_01]: It's not just about food.
11:58
[SPEAKER_01]: It's about community.
11:59
[SPEAKER_01]: It's about creating an environment.
12:02
[SPEAKER_01]: And this book, I can't wait to continue to devour it because I've only, of course, just skimmed the surface, I feel, but there's so much to unpack.
12:11
[SPEAKER_02]: You're so kind, thank you, that everything that you just said is exactly was the mission of the book.
12:17
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I'm absolutely not a culinary train chef.
12:22
[SPEAKER_02]: And I will never pretend to be that I'm truly just someone that loves food.
12:25
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm a home cook.
12:26
[SPEAKER_02]: And the thing about those cookbook for me is I was like, I want this to be something people can thumb through in their bed at night, crack up.
12:34
[SPEAKER_02]: One of my favorite topics that I've been given.
12:36
[SPEAKER_02]: So far,
12:40
[SPEAKER_02]: in this book.
12:40
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, yes, it's a beautiful but it's full of personality.
12:43
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that that like really encapsulate the title of it, really encapsulates the book itself.
12:48
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah.
12:48
[SPEAKER_00]: Because I love a cookbook from a home cook.
12:52
[SPEAKER_00]: I have so many cookbooks, I love to cook.
12:54
[SPEAKER_00]: But I feel like especially as someone who has like a lot of allergies like you where she's got, I am allergic to dairy.
13:00
[SPEAKER_00]: But I feel like
13:03
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it's okay.
13:04
[SPEAKER_00]: It's I have, I have never appreciated it in any, anyway, shape performance.
13:08
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what I'm missing.
13:10
[SPEAKER_00]: But one of the things I love when I flip through a cookbook is being like, okay, this recipe has something I can't eat.
13:15
[SPEAKER_00]: What kind I replace it with?
13:16
[SPEAKER_00]: And it doesn't feel complicated to do that.
13:19
[SPEAKER_00]: That's kind of like how I base if I'm going to use this cookbook.
13:21
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, there's one recipe in particular, which was cars potato chip and pick-and, do you say pick-and, pick-and, either way.
13:28
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, I'm
13:32
[SPEAKER_00]: What is Courtney done here like this is because my least favorite part of chocolate chip cookies is the chocolate chips and so adding the potato chips and these like I'm so excited and the only thing that had Daryon it was the butter and I was like, oh, this is a perfect swap and I think that sometimes when cookbooks get too complicated.
13:48
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like
13:48
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I could never cook from this because I don't know how to make swaps.
13:51
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know how to do half of the things here.
13:54
[SPEAKER_00]: So I think I love how accessible it is for any person who, because I know Tara doesn't cook a lot, but there's so many recipes as I was flipping through Tara that I was like, you would love this.
14:03
[SPEAKER_00]: You would appreciate that 100%.
14:04
[SPEAKER_00]: I was like, oh, I was going to make this.
14:06
[SPEAKER_00]: And there's like nachos where you like, um, that are in there.
14:10
[SPEAKER_00]: I forget exactly what the media is.
14:12
[SPEAKER_00]: But like, there has
14:13
[SPEAKER_00]: Anaposanachos that I was like Tara would love for this then I feel like it's so accessible But also it like brings in so much about you like over sharing is really the theme where it feels like you're there That we're like at your house as we're flipping through this cookbook and you're there talking to us Which I love compliment
14:34
[SPEAKER_00]: No, it's truly beautiful and I'm so excited, especially for the holidays because I'm in charge of Thanksgiving and Christmas for my whole family.
14:42
[SPEAKER_00]: And so as I was flipping through this, I was like, oh my gosh, Courtney's going to help me and my family creative, which at the end of the book you create menus for people from the cookbook, which I was like, I hadn't seen that before where it's like, okay, you can take this, this and this and have a perfect meal all from this book.
14:57
[SPEAKER_00]: Like exactly.
14:58
[SPEAKER_02]: I have your party for you, ready.
15:00
[SPEAKER_02]: It makes it a little more user friendly.
15:02
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, it takes the guesswork out a little bit.
15:04
[SPEAKER_02]: I totally agree.
15:05
[SPEAKER_02]: It's so smart.
15:06
[SPEAKER_01]: Because you, of course, like you look for these, these recipes, but there is an art to creating a menu, which I think is really important.
15:15
[SPEAKER_01]: And we're going to get into that a little bit more throughout the episode.
15:18
[SPEAKER_01]: But my question for you in talking about your brand and the brand you've created over the last several years, when did you know it was time to take it from brand to book?
15:25
[SPEAKER_02]: three years ago, almost to the day.
15:29
[SPEAKER_02]: There was just like a, because my manager had been out, I've been with her a long time.
15:33
[SPEAKER_02]: And she, you know, kind of brought it up over the years.
15:35
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, cookbook, I'm like, no, no, no.
15:37
[SPEAKER_02]: There was just a like, oh, I didn't know that described was like a release within my like, no, or tuning me and just like that's time.
15:45
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so we had our book meeting.
15:47
[SPEAKER_02]: It was my two managers, my husband, obviously I was there.
15:51
[SPEAKER_02]: I want to thank God, let's do it.
15:53
[SPEAKER_01]: Thank God.
15:53
[SPEAKER_02]: And we'll let me do it by the way, three days later, I'm not kidding.
15:58
[SPEAKER_02]: Open my email, which it's a shock that I saw this email.
16:01
[SPEAKER_02]: I have 50,000 on red.
16:02
[SPEAKER_02]: Let's see.
16:03
[SPEAKER_02]: That's the other one.
16:04
[SPEAKER_02]: That's oversharing.
16:05
[SPEAKER_02]: That's what we're hearing.
16:08
[SPEAKER_02]: And it says she's Gal Cook, book, question mark in the title.
16:11
[SPEAKER_02]: And it was my, who is now my literary agent, Allison, who found me on TikTok or something.
16:17
[SPEAKER_02]: And she was like,
16:18
[SPEAKER_02]: You just kind of have it.
16:19
[SPEAKER_02]: Have you ever thought of doing a cookbook?
16:21
[SPEAKER_02]: I love your content, love your recipes.
16:23
[SPEAKER_02]: And we had a few meetings with her and I knew right away.
16:26
[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, oh, it's her.
16:27
[SPEAKER_02]: So the way everything, time that was just so kids met and so meant to be that it just truly all lined up perfectly.
16:35
[SPEAKER_01]: That's how you know, like when it's right, it's right.
16:37
[SPEAKER_01]: What is meant for you is not going to misuse it all the time and it can sometimes feel like a little cheese ball, a little corny.
16:44
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so true though.
16:45
[SPEAKER_01]: But it is true.
16:46
[SPEAKER_01]: Like when it's the right time, it'll it'll show.
16:50
[SPEAKER_01]: It'll happen.
16:50
[SPEAKER_01]: It won't pass you by.
16:52
[SPEAKER_02]: What is for you will not pass you up.
16:54
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
16:55
[SPEAKER_00]: Especially going back to that first moment where your husband was like,
16:57
[SPEAKER_00]: Do you think people would buy this like you should do this that there's like there would be something inside of you that like if it wasn't right that you're like no This isn't what I want to do, but like the fact that you were like, yes, let's do it that like that was always in you and you were always destined to be right here talking to us about your cook
17:14
[SPEAKER_02]: And I think too, just piggybacking on that real quick, I think what's really important is when you have those moments and that feeling of, okay, it's time you have to take it by the horns and jump even if you are terrified and you're afraid you got to jump because then that moment can still keep going, you know, so you got to be ready for it and then you have you ready to act so yeah.
17:36
[SPEAKER_00]: And you did.
17:37
[SPEAKER_00]: I love it.
17:38
[SPEAKER_00]: Because I feel like a lot of people let fear miss the moment.
17:41
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, because if you had said that, because again, the past you said, I'm not sure about a cookbook.
17:44
[SPEAKER_00]: If someone reached out to you about it, but the fact that you've been talking about it, you were, you were ready to meet the moment, if you well, ready to overshare, as you had already been doing, 100%.
17:54
[SPEAKER_00]: So speaking of oversharing in your gorgeous cookbook and three years that it took to create this, what was the best and worst part of writing a cookbook?
18:04
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh god, that's so easy.
18:05
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, they've worked apart.
18:06
[SPEAKER_02]: I'll start there.
18:07
[SPEAKER_02]: The worst part was probably the timing.
18:10
[SPEAKER_02]: So I have over a hundred recipes.
18:12
[SPEAKER_02]: If you want to get technical, there's like 120 recipes in this cookbook.
18:17
[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, all those have to be developed from scratch pretty much.
18:20
[SPEAKER_02]: These are all new recipes minus just maybe five that are kind of like my
18:26
[SPEAKER_02]: Greatest hits you could.
18:27
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so I didn't really have to overthink that to my classic Courtney Closet bait, but then I had to start the others from scratch.
18:32
[SPEAKER_02]: So developing those and then testing them.
18:35
[SPEAKER_02]: Each one is tested minimum of three times Some five to six and when there's over a hundred recipes you can you can do the bath there.
18:43
[SPEAKER_02]: So I think the hardest part was the volume of things that had to be done to stay on schedule, while also being a mom, while also still being a full-time content career, making content during the holiday season with all the brand campaigns, and still the organic content, and then test a piece.
19:03
[SPEAKER_02]: and then all to step up with the kid's school.
19:06
[SPEAKER_02]: I just was like, there was a point.
19:08
[SPEAKER_02]: I was wearing it or a ring at the time, but it's not on right now.
19:10
[SPEAKER_02]: My or ring was like, you good?
19:12
[SPEAKER_02]: Are you okay?
19:12
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, it just stopped updating.
19:14
[SPEAKER_02]: It said, okay, baby.
19:15
[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, no, no, no, I'm not.
19:19
[SPEAKER_00]: Just for yourself from the shackles of that.
19:22
[SPEAKER_02]: Honestly not to get into that.
19:24
[SPEAKER_02]: I took it off a few weeks ago when I was in Italy or I guess now it's been a month.
19:28
[SPEAKER_02]: I took it off because I was like, I don't need this.
19:30
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't need to tell anybody to stretch my legs first of all.
19:32
[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, for yourself of the word ring, you know?
19:36
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, sometimes you need to.
19:37
[SPEAKER_01]: So it's good to have and sometimes you need to just let it, you're like, I don't need to know what's going on now.
19:44
[SPEAKER_02]: If I'm binge watching Gilmore Girls for six hours, I don't need to tell anybody to stretch my legs respectfully.
19:48
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, absolutely.
19:49
[SPEAKER_01]: And especially if you're an Italy, you're there to unwind and unplug.
19:52
[SPEAKER_01]: You're stretching your legs, of course.
19:54
[SPEAKER_02]: You're stretching your legs rocking.
19:55
[SPEAKER_00]: Walking to get a wine refill.
19:56
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like by the way, there's an apparel spritz in my hand.
19:59
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the disrespect.
20:01
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, exactly.
20:03
[SPEAKER_00]: But she could like click that.
20:04
[SPEAKER_00]: Like stand up, stretch your legs.
20:05
[SPEAKER_00]: How about apparel spritz time?
20:07
[SPEAKER_00]: And they're like, oh, cool.
20:08
[SPEAKER_00]: You're in.
20:08
[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
20:09
[SPEAKER_00]: Keep doing that.
20:10
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, my God.
20:11
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know how I go on that subject.
20:12
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, that's that's what I mean.
20:14
[SPEAKER_01]: That's that is us too.
20:15
[SPEAKER_01]: We just start.
20:16
[SPEAKER_01]: We just get on a subject and we're like, how did we get here?
20:18
[SPEAKER_00]: Now, we were talking about the hardest part of the cookbook.
20:21
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I feel like the hardest part of that would be like trying not to make like trying to make sure that your recipes stay for the cookbook and are not in your content so that they're like unique to the book.
20:31
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, like your brain is free years since the testing part.
20:35
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, my gosh.
20:36
[SPEAKER_02]: So I think, yeah, that was definitely just the hardest part, which is the volume because I'm used to testing recipes all the time, but I'm working on like a couple of a week.
20:43
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not working on 20.
20:45
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah.
20:47
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
20:47
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, doing everything else.
20:48
[SPEAKER_02]: So that was the hardest part.
20:50
[SPEAKER_02]: The best part was the team of people that I chose to work on this with me from my incredible writer to my incredible
20:58
[SPEAKER_02]: tester to my incredible editor and my literary agent and my photo team.
21:02
[SPEAKER_02]: Like everybody was just so amazing and we bonded and we're all still like such close friends that that was my favorite part which is the relationship aspect.
21:12
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but like shine through with you too.
21:14
[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like as this is like of course our first time meeting our first time talking, but it feels like it would be so nice to just come to your home.
21:21
[SPEAKER_00]: Like you feel like the perfect hostess because
21:23
[SPEAKER_00]: You just immediately make people feel comfortable so I feel like imagining working in that environment too.
21:28
[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like the people who work with you probably feel the same.
21:31
[SPEAKER_02]: I haven't told that, but I have been told I have to lie at the right time, no, that's what I'm saying.
21:40
[SPEAKER_02]: No, thank you so much.
21:41
[SPEAKER_02]: So actually, that means a lot.
21:43
[SPEAKER_02]: That's the biggest thing is like, I just want anyone who is within, if I meet you, I just want you to feel seen and heard and warned, warned, warned.
21:53
[SPEAKER_02]: More.
21:54
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, more.
21:54
[SPEAKER_02]: Put you in the oven.
21:56
[SPEAKER_02]: There's more.
21:56
[SPEAKER_02]: There's more.
21:59
[SPEAKER_02]: Cook it.
22:00
[SPEAKER_02]: But just to feel warmth in and at ease, that's the biggest compliment.
22:04
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
22:05
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
22:05
[SPEAKER_02]: They feel comfortable around me.
22:07
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and I feel like that extends to your care cookbook.
22:09
[SPEAKER_00]: Anyone who picks it up, I feel like it's going to be able to maybe extend that to their own guests with the Courtney McCourt touch.
22:16
[SPEAKER_00]: Totally their guests, which speaking of the Courtney McCourt touch, something that we would love to do is, of course, talk about Gilmore Girl Season and potentially a menu for your garage.
22:30
[SPEAKER_00]: But before we get into the mini part of it, we do want to get
22:33
[SPEAKER_00]: solely into the Gilmourkels part of this because that was how we got in touch.
22:37
[SPEAKER_00]: We love your team We worked with them in the past and they were like anytime.
22:40
[SPEAKER_00]: They've got a Gilmourkels fan They come straight to us, which were like so thankful for we feel like we're getting to meet all of the best Gilmourkels fans Which includes you and so we would just love to know how you got started watching what was like your earliest memory of Joining the Gilmourkels cult if you will
22:57
[SPEAKER_00]: It really is a culture I'm happy to be a member.
22:59
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'm so proud to be a member.
23:00
[SPEAKER_02]: Honestly, I wasn't at an original, like when it was airing, I wasn't, I think I, I don't know how old I was, but I wasn't an original watcher.
23:08
[SPEAKER_02]: I watched like in my 20s, and I mean, I was in my like single girl apartment freshly divorced.
23:13
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, that's a fiction time at 21.
23:17
[SPEAKER_02]: It was in my single girl apartment, you know, binge watching Gilmour Girls.
23:21
[SPEAKER_02]: So this is probably like 2011, 2012.
23:25
[SPEAKER_02]: And it was kind of nice because I could binge it, you know, versus watching it one by one.
23:29
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
23:30
[SPEAKER_02]: And I always have just watched by myself.
23:32
[SPEAKER_02]: Although my mom and I were just watching it last night.
23:34
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I love I've gotten her into it.
23:37
[SPEAKER_02]: She's not completely caught up, but I've gotten her into it.
23:39
[SPEAKER_02]: She's like, oh, this is so nice.
23:40
[SPEAKER_02]: Just to have on and make that's the thing.
23:42
[SPEAKER_02]: You might be friends in that way enough to throw another show until like a real podcast.
23:46
[SPEAKER_02]: But you know, it's just had there's an air
23:54
[SPEAKER_01]: We always say that it's like visual comfort food on it or so.
23:57
[SPEAKER_01]: It is because you can, like you said, put it on the background.
24:00
[SPEAKER_01]: We feel that way about numerous shows, but specifically this one, I used to do that with friends, the office, just like things that feel like the stakes are low and that's the world that Gilmore Girls has created.
24:13
[SPEAKER_01]: And I always love hearing about people's journey to discovering Gilmort girls, I think it sounds like at the time you were going through something or in the aftermath of something that was not necessarily the easiest journey.
24:25
[SPEAKER_01]: And so to have something that kind of anchors you and brings you.
24:28
[SPEAKER_01]: Some sort of foundation of comfort is so important and Gilmour Girls has been that for a lot of us in a variety of ways.
24:35
[SPEAKER_02]: It's self-care in a way.
24:37
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
24:37
[SPEAKER_02]: It's self-care and then that even ties in with couch stacks because that's the whole idea is watching something that makes you feel like it's a warm hug or a blank evening.
24:46
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
24:46
[SPEAKER_02]: It's absolutely hell.
24:47
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
24:47
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
24:49
[SPEAKER_01]: So what's your relationship with Gilmore Girls now?
24:51
[SPEAKER_01]: Do you re-watch it every year?
24:53
[SPEAKER_01]: Like is it really just something that's exclusively on the background?
24:56
[SPEAKER_01]: I would say re-watch it every year, but I am on a journey of re-watching it.
25:00
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
25:00
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
25:01
[SPEAKER_02]: Sorry one season two episode three.
25:03
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, so I'm trying to think what just happened.
25:06
[SPEAKER_01]: That is red line on the wedding night.
25:07
[SPEAKER_01]: The party.
25:07
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
25:08
[SPEAKER_01]: The party.
25:08
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
25:08
[SPEAKER_02]: The party.
25:09
[SPEAKER_02]: The one, the first couple episodes of season two crack me up because Laura lives trying to decide if she's going to get married.
25:17
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's like, we always call it the, um, what do we call it?
25:21
[SPEAKER_01]: The prologue of season two, because it's before Jess arrives on the scene.
25:26
[SPEAKER_01]: It's before things kick off.
25:27
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, we've got a kind of, oh, I know we're going to get a chance.
25:30
[SPEAKER_01]: It's before we kind of really kick off season two.
25:32
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, let's wrap up with happen in season one.
25:34
[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
25:35
[SPEAKER_01]: These first four episodes.
25:36
[SPEAKER_01]: And then we're really going to live.
25:37
[SPEAKER_01]: And then we're going to press the gas on season two.
25:39
[SPEAKER_01]: So you just said, oh, Jess, do you have a team?
25:43
[SPEAKER_01]: What does that mean?
25:44
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
25:45
[SPEAKER_01]: It's only same girl.
25:47
[SPEAKER_01]: Same girl.
25:47
[SPEAKER_01]: No.
25:48
[SPEAKER_02]: They're complicated things.
25:49
[SPEAKER_02]: He's kind of like, he's rough around the edges at first.
25:52
[SPEAKER_02]: But as him, a chore is like, that's the guy.
25:54
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
25:55
[SPEAKER_01]: I totally agree.
25:57
[SPEAKER_01]: Haley is a team Logan, Grolly.
25:58
[SPEAKER_01]: She started watching her first viewing of Gilmour Girls was as it was airing live on the WB in 2005.
26:06
[SPEAKER_01]: So she missed the first four seasons of Gilmour Girls.
26:08
[SPEAKER_01]: I met Logan immediately.
26:11
[SPEAKER_01]: And so she felt hard.
26:13
[SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, it's fair and it's like when you're like 13 years old, like what's a girl to do?
26:19
[SPEAKER_00]: What's a girl man is presented to you?
26:21
[SPEAKER_00]: Like I so I am still team Logan for her.
26:25
[SPEAKER_00]: Like and as we've gone on, we see a lot of the things that have happened.
26:30
[SPEAKER_00]: We call him a Yucca loser sometimes for his actions, but I think that applies to all the boyfriends at some point.
26:37
[SPEAKER_02]: And really any of us, right?
26:41
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, we can we can extend some grace.
26:44
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but like whenever I'm watching season two I'm always like, oh my god, just Mariano like that's a thing we call it It's people getting it like we will get the other role.
26:54
[SPEAKER_00]: We're like, okay He's he you know if he was my high school boyfriend.
27:01
[SPEAKER_00]: I would cry a lot.
27:02
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm he's gonna I would I would cry a lot, but
27:04
[SPEAKER_00]: It'd be nice to look at.
27:06
[SPEAKER_00]: Did it hurt the eyes?
27:07
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, the eyes.
27:09
[SPEAKER_00]: And then when he grows up and he's been, you know, doing those arm workouts, doing that.
27:13
[SPEAKER_00]: It shows, doing that work.
27:15
[SPEAKER_00]: It's there.
27:16
[SPEAKER_00]: I would show.
27:16
[SPEAKER_00]: So come revival.
27:17
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, I wouldn't love it.
27:18
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I wouldn't mind it off.
27:20
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm rearing.
27:22
[SPEAKER_00]: Do you have any hot takes about the show?
27:24
[SPEAKER_00]: Because I know that the thing about going online, Instagram, TikTok, whatever, everyone always has their hot takes.
27:31
[SPEAKER_00]: And some of them are actually pretty normal, but we wondered if you have any hot takes fresh out of the oven.
27:36
[SPEAKER_02]: I would kind of, well, the hot takes up the Friday night dinner is, we're not that bad.
27:41
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, why you're going to pay for my kid's school and that move her for a gorgeous dinner with a beautiful martini.
27:46
[SPEAKER_02]: I'll be there at 645.
27:47
[SPEAKER_02]: You already mean like, I'll put up with the shenanigans.
27:50
[SPEAKER_02]: Is it lay a little crazy?
27:51
[SPEAKER_02]: Sure.
27:52
[SPEAKER_02]: What do you know, obviously, it's good TV.
27:54
[SPEAKER_02]: No, I mean, my hot take is that I also just love any like weekly dinner moment again.
28:00
[SPEAKER_02]: It goes back to my favorite memories around the tables.
28:03
[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't know.
28:03
[SPEAKER_02]: I made this up that hot of a take.
28:06
[SPEAKER_02]: I also think that her character is often villainized and it's so funny because it's like the order I get.
28:12
[SPEAKER_02]: I understand are just a little bit more.
28:14
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't look at it as like black and white as like oh, she's impossible and
28:21
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, absolutely.
28:23
[SPEAKER_01]: I think like growing up in maturing as women and and seeing the relationship you have with the other women in your life beat your mom your aunt your grandmother your sister your daughter even like A Gilmore girls has something for everybody because you're going to inevitably enter a different chapter of your life and identify with a different character And I think people have softened Emily.
28:43
[SPEAKER_01]: There are a lot of very black and white opinions online especially
28:47
[SPEAKER_01]: about her and about Laura lie.
28:49
[SPEAKER_01]: And they in different directions, right?
28:51
[SPEAKER_01]: There are a lot of people who were like, Laura lie was immature.
28:54
[SPEAKER_01]: She was petulant like we understand Emily and a lot of people who were like, well, maybe you didn't have a parent like Emily, but when you are a person like Laura like who grew up in a household where she felt very stifled, you know, it's really hard to go back to dinner.
29:07
[SPEAKER_01]: But I write that like we all kind of agree that we're like,
29:09
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, honestly, the Friday night dinner wasn't a bad gig.
29:12
[SPEAKER_02]: I'd be there.
29:13
[SPEAKER_02]: Look at me there.
29:14
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god.
29:15
[SPEAKER_00]: I would show up.
29:16
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I mean, the psychological warfare, you know, aside.
29:21
[SPEAKER_00]: Cause like, I think the thing with Emily when I was younger, I was like, oh my god, her mama's so mean.
29:26
[SPEAKER_00]: But as I've aged, it's more of like,
29:28
[SPEAKER_00]: Her mom is iconic.
29:29
[SPEAKER_00]: Honestly.
29:30
[SPEAKER_00]: What I what I love the way the cheese treating me Probably not, but she's not treating you that way.
29:34
[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
29:35
[SPEAKER_00]: She just has some amazing woman on the nurse her outfit Those Saint John Nits like she knows how to throw a party like yeah I kind of love the aspects of her that I'm kind of like get it.
29:46
[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I kind of like and I got it I'd love to be a fly on the wall with a martini in my hand.
29:51
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'm trying down the drama
29:53
[SPEAKER_00]: Do you have a preference of like what half of the show you like because I know that a lot of people are like, they love the early season early days.
30:00
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I don't know, but I love it all because like I said it goes back to like just the character development is done so well with the characters and the show in general and the story.
30:09
[SPEAKER_02]: But I don't know if I had to maybe pick a ton at the earlier.
30:13
[SPEAKER_02]: I like when Rory's home.
30:15
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
30:17
[SPEAKER_02]: It's cozy.
30:18
[SPEAKER_02]: It's just cozy.
30:20
[SPEAKER_02]: I prefer fall.
30:23
[SPEAKER_01]: the only thing, but, um, but like, we always talk about how, um, seasons, like five through seven, particularly like worries college years season four kind of floats somewhere in between, but season five when she meets Logan, it feels like it really does shift tonally into like this darker, more moodier kind of like CW show, even though it wasn't with the CW until I think what was it season seven?
30:45
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but it does feel like this
30:51
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's the good shift to more like relationship.
30:53
[SPEAKER_02]: And didn't the producers change?
30:55
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, because of the producers.
30:56
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the producers.
30:57
[SPEAKER_02]: The writer.
30:57
[SPEAKER_02]: So that's the right answer.
30:59
[SPEAKER_02]: So that's been a lot to do with it.
31:00
[SPEAKER_01]: And just I think we're going to call it shift.
31:03
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, shakes everything up.
31:04
[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm with you.
31:04
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I grew up on this show being like my experience watching the show for the first time is when I was like 12 and rewatching it on ABC family.
31:12
[SPEAKER_01]: And because the show was still airing, they were airing reruns of seasons one through three.
31:17
[SPEAKER_01]: I was a Jess growly through and throw.
31:20
[SPEAKER_01]: Logan and like the college years didn't really cross my path until I was at college and I was like, oh these are fine, but I want to go home to source hollow.
31:26
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
31:26
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I wish I could live there.
31:28
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, you know, the vibranist said it.
31:31
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I know.
31:32
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
31:33
[SPEAKER_02]: It's really great.
31:33
[SPEAKER_02]: It's really nice.
31:34
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
31:35
[SPEAKER_01]: So we had a little bit of a preview of how you feel about this talking about Friday night dinner.
31:40
[SPEAKER_01]: But what did you think about the show's approach to how they gathered characters around the table?
31:44
[SPEAKER_01]: Not just with Friday night dinner, but in other aspects of the show.
31:47
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, Soky is my queen, first of all.
31:49
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yes.
31:50
[SPEAKER_02]: Breaking love her.
31:51
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, the way that she loves people so aggressively with food, identify with, obviously.
31:58
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
31:59
[SPEAKER_02]: So between that and then, of course, the aspect of Luke.
32:03
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, actually on the topic of Luke, like, how did you feel about his character?
32:08
[SPEAKER_01]: in regards to Lorelei, because he also causes a lot of discourse on, oh, yeah.
32:12
[SPEAKER_01]: And how did you feel about him, like, outside of his relationship with Lorelei, in being a vessel for kind of feeding them all of the time?
32:20
[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like he is one of those people that is just has such a tough exterior, just like the banter that he would have with people, but he really such a softy.
32:29
[SPEAKER_02]: And part of that comes out in the way that he cared for people via his diner.
32:35
[SPEAKER_02]: And even creating an environment where people would come there for the comfort, for the coffee, for the pancakes, for the burgers, the fries, you know what I mean?
32:42
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
32:43
[SPEAKER_02]: So he was, I mean, I loved his character and love his relationship with Oralide on top of that.
32:50
[SPEAKER_02]: I loved the attention between the two constantly, like even just rewatching, or she tells him that she's been proposed to.
32:58
[SPEAKER_02]: And he's like,
33:00
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, he's like, well, where are you telling me essentially and she's like, because that's, I don't know, you know, I just love that dynamic of the band that he has with her specifically, but just in general.
33:12
[SPEAKER_00]: I love that.
33:13
[SPEAKER_00]: You said that like you kind of relate to Suki, did you feel that same way when you watched it when you were like 21.
33:19
[SPEAKER_02]: No, in your single-grad era.
33:20
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
33:20
[SPEAKER_02]: No, it goes back to what you're just saying.
33:22
[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like.
33:24
[SPEAKER_02]: You could relate to it depending on where you're at in your life.
33:26
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and that's something that came for me later I did I mean I always loved her because I also just loved her as an actor.
33:32
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah Everything blesses in but specifically that show I always like loved her character But I didn't relate to her now.
33:39
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, did you find yourself a lower lie in Emily or a worry when you first watched it when I was younger Rory for sure.
33:47
[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like I Now I'm kind of like oh
33:51
[SPEAKER_02]: love her love her love you girl girl and I I'm not necessarily I'm not a radiator by Eddie means because I think it goes back to what we've been saying is like there is everybody goes through their own character development and we're all a little messy sometimes and she couldn't stay perfect forever but there was like a yeah there was a part of me that definitely related murder her now Laura lie oh my gosh she's my
34:19
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh my God, the amount, okay, my favorite thing to watch is you can see the thought enter her mind and the speed at which it just follows out, I'm like, that's my anniversary queen.
34:31
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, 100%.
34:32
[SPEAKER_01]: And Lori's not only does she not overshare, Lori doesn't really share that something we talk about a lot in this podcast.
34:39
[SPEAKER_01]: She's not really open with her feelings.
34:42
[SPEAKER_02]: Or lie, you know what she's thinking, every step,
34:46
[SPEAKER_00]: of the way yeah well it no see we're saying that makes like we talk about that a lot that kind of like the rory conversation and I've always been a rory because like I love to read I was like very invested in school like I just wanted my boyfriend to be Logan Huntsburger but I think I'm the more light oversharing like I don't want to keep a thought to myself like every thought I've ever had is gonna be shared online on my podcast on youtube in some way so like couldn't be mysterious so I feel like in that way I I definitely relate to the oversharing
35:15
[SPEAKER_00]: But so much of the oversharing happens around the table at Loux, at the Dragonfly, Sukhi's always feeding them.
35:21
[SPEAKER_00]: Emily is always feeding them.
35:23
[SPEAKER_00]: What is your Loux?
35:24
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, what is your daily go-to in the kitchen?
35:27
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, God, that's a great question.
35:29
[SPEAKER_02]: I would probably say it's something that's so kind of boring, but it's my ritual every single morning.
35:35
[SPEAKER_02]: It's a cup of coffee and sourdough with French butter and flaky salt.
35:38
[SPEAKER_02]: That is my awkward thing if I don't have that in the morning.
35:41
[SPEAKER_01]: It's thrown.
35:42
[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
35:42
[SPEAKER_02]: It's a cat, totally.
35:43
[SPEAKER_02]: It doesn't matter, but 10 of the breeze outside.
35:45
[SPEAKER_02]: It's got to be hot, coffee.
35:46
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, is it black?
35:47
[SPEAKER_02]: It's a coffee girl.
35:48
[SPEAKER_01]: Black.
35:50
[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
35:50
[SPEAKER_01]: A true boy.
35:52
[SPEAKER_01]: I know more through and through.
35:53
[SPEAKER_01]: That's not for you.
35:54
[SPEAKER_02]: That's what I'm saying.
35:55
[SPEAKER_02]: I like really, just the copious amounts of coffee.
35:58
[SPEAKER_02]: That's what you know.
36:00
[SPEAKER_01]: And rituals are so important.
36:01
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, like, I switched from coffee a few years ago to Machia, because coffee was starting to give me a lot of anxiety.
36:08
[SPEAKER_01]: And I was just like, but I need to do something in the mornings.
36:12
[SPEAKER_01]: There's just something about whether it's at ritual or ritual.
36:16
[SPEAKER_01]: The ritual is so important.
36:18
[SPEAKER_01]: I love your ritual.
36:19
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, my gosh.
36:19
[SPEAKER_01]: I've got to do the bread with the butter and the fleece.
36:21
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm doing that tomorrow.
36:23
[SPEAKER_00]: I know.
36:24
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm doing the Courtney Mornings.
36:25
[SPEAKER_02]: It's my favorite.
36:26
[SPEAKER_02]: And it's like I said, it's nothing complicated.
36:29
[SPEAKER_02]: This is not even a recipe.
36:30
[SPEAKER_02]: It's just one of you every single morning.
36:33
[SPEAKER_02]: I will say coffee is putting me anxious too.
36:36
[SPEAKER_02]: What I do is make myself eat at least half of the toast and then I have the coffee.
36:40
[SPEAKER_02]: That was the other thing that I used to do.
36:42
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah.
36:42
[SPEAKER_01]: Bad and I would do it and we would be recording it like two in the afternoon and I'd be like, why do I feel like shit?
36:47
[SPEAKER_02]: Tara?
36:49
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it's like, let's connect something.
36:52
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, literally just need to drink some water.
36:56
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly.
36:59
[SPEAKER_01]: Just once at the water, even, would help us at your... Just one, like, little, like, one of those cups that you would find at the water station, one little plastic cup of water, and you'd be fine.
37:07
[SPEAKER_01]: mine, Michael.
37:08
[SPEAKER_00]: But that's actually how you feel about Suki's kitchen because more like comes in and gets cup coffee.
37:13
[SPEAKER_00]: I feel at some point that lady should have been like put like a little water station right to it with her name on the cup.
37:19
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to cute little Stanley for more like go more like let's let's just have a sip of water.
37:23
[SPEAKER_02]: we're going to hydrate quaint.
37:24
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
37:25
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
37:26
[SPEAKER_02]: A little electrolyte little 12.
37:29
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
37:29
[SPEAKER_00]: Now the next version of Gilmore girls has to be them obsessed with being hydrated.
37:33
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my God.
37:34
[SPEAKER_00]: We have to influence the generation differently.
37:37
[SPEAKER_00]: But speaking of suki in her kitchen.
37:39
[SPEAKER_00]: Who is someone that you love to have in your kitchen while you're cooking?
37:42
[SPEAKER_00]: Because Lorela is always in there yapping in her ear while she's stirring.
37:46
[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes sampling the the goods and then putting the spoon right back in the pot.
37:50
[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
37:51
[SPEAKER_00]: By the way, just everyone knows that would have been a super fun event.
37:55
[SPEAKER_00]: But regardless, who's someone that you love to have in the kitchen if you like to have any of that?
37:59
[SPEAKER_02]: My family, any every whether it's my husband or my kids.
38:02
[SPEAKER_02]: I know that sounds so cheesy.
38:04
[SPEAKER_02]: I love I just love to have people like my people around me when I'm doing that.
38:08
[SPEAKER_02]: I guess a lot cooking solo to it.
38:10
[SPEAKER_02]: I guess it depends what kind of mood I'm in because we don't have some kind of like nobody needs to be in here I know but most of the time yeah, just my family and Charlotte will taste and let me know what she'll go.
38:21
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, okay, that's not No, that's like I'm a random pre-slee moment.
38:26
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh my god exactly.
38:27
[SPEAKER_02]: No, that's my favorite thing I mean, they're not afraid between Charlotte and they will send it right back to the kitchen just needs a little more salt a little more lemon.
38:33
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, okay
38:35
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, but yeah, I was seeing what kids our husband, Chris and I love to cook together.
38:39
[SPEAKER_02]: We actually do like a little Friday night.
38:42
[SPEAKER_02]: We always stay and do a movie night on Friday night.
38:44
[SPEAKER_02]: Normally, whether we do take out, which, again, anode to our queens of the demo girls, um, or we'll cook, we just just like something simple and then do a movie night.
38:53
[SPEAKER_02]: I love that.
38:54
[SPEAKER_00]: I love like a routine like that when you're little, just feels so fun.
38:57
[SPEAKER_00]: We sometimes do night on Friday.
38:59
[SPEAKER_02]: and you can expect it and it's safe, you know?
39:01
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, when we were kids as blockbuster, exactly as well, I'm probably a lot older than you guys, but we would do the TGIF on Friday on the high.
39:10
[SPEAKER_02]: No, of course.
39:11
[SPEAKER_02]: Of course.
39:12
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, lots, mac and cheese.
39:13
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, there was one day where my dad was like, let's go to the movies and we were all like, what, no, we watch a movie at home and we have friends and pizza, like, what do we, why would you change this up on us?
39:24
[SPEAKER_02]: No, Dad, I want to sure no, yeah.
39:26
[SPEAKER_02]: I want, yes, exactly.
39:29
[SPEAKER_01]: Our video rental store was right next to the Chinese food restaurant and every, like, whenever we would go, I would be like, Mom, please can we get Chinese food?
39:39
[SPEAKER_01]: Nine times out of ten, the answer was no, but on the days when it was yes, it was just like such an exciting thing and I miss that.
39:45
[SPEAKER_01]: I love having access to the things that we do now, like Netflix and, and all of the streaming services, but there's a part of me that's like damn, I want to go to a blockbuster again.
39:54
[SPEAKER_02]: Blockbuster.
39:55
[SPEAKER_02]: Remember the feeling of when like the VHS or the DVD depending on what year it was, when you would see the new release and there were copies behind it because there was nothing in the feeling when there was nothing and it was just a sleeve and you're like, yes.
40:09
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
40:10
[SPEAKER_00]: No.
40:10
[SPEAKER_00]: I know.
40:11
[SPEAKER_00]: I know.
40:11
[SPEAKER_00]: To us, we would go the four of us and we all had, because I have three siblings and we'd have to decide on one and it's hard.
40:18
[SPEAKER_00]: That's hard.
40:19
[SPEAKER_00]: Finally, I had to contend with my little brother.
40:20
[SPEAKER_00]: No, I know.
40:22
[SPEAKER_00]: And that's when you had to make your voice heard.
40:24
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god, listen, the kids today will never know.
40:28
[SPEAKER_02]: They will never know what we have been through.
40:31
[SPEAKER_02]: I know.
40:31
[SPEAKER_02]: Did you guys watch commercials?
40:33
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, I actually have something funny to say on this subject.
40:37
[SPEAKER_02]: There is a new landsline phone called the tin can that all the kids have.
40:42
[SPEAKER_02]: So I got one for Shard.
40:43
[SPEAKER_02]: I hooked up to your Bluetooth or your Wi-Fi or something.
40:46
[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, so we get it all set up for her.
40:49
[SPEAKER_02]: She picks the phone up and she goes, oh, mom, it's broken.
40:53
[SPEAKER_02]: It's making the weird noise.
40:54
[SPEAKER_02]: It was dialed out.
40:58
[SPEAKER_02]: It's broken.
40:59
[SPEAKER_02]: It's making our noise broken.
41:00
[SPEAKER_02]: It's going to be taking a weird noise explaining dial tone or commercials or that we had to go to a blockbuster to these kids.
41:07
[SPEAKER_02]: They're like, yeah, I did do that.
41:09
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, you'll never know the struggle.
41:10
[SPEAKER_02]: This has become our new, what is the, our pair's generation.
41:14
[SPEAKER_02]: I had walked in my eyes and I was like, oh, yes, exactly.
41:18
[SPEAKER_01]: Like I had to walk.
41:19
[SPEAKER_01]: I had to drive five minutes down the street to pick up a movie.
41:22
[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't have apple maps.
41:23
[SPEAKER_02]: I had to print it out.
41:24
[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
41:25
[SPEAKER_01]: Not Quest, baby.
41:26
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
41:26
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm almost there.
41:28
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm almost there.
41:29
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm almost there.
41:30
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
41:31
[SPEAKER_00]: I couldn't use my phone.
41:32
[SPEAKER_00]: I was trapped with y'all.
41:34
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
41:34
[SPEAKER_01]: That's so real.
41:35
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I do feel like it's making a comeback, though, to your point about kids wanting this landline I want to landline like I want to landline I am about to just like throw my phone in the ocean, but you can't you know, and Haley and I talk about this all the time having the podcast and you having you know that's like yeah, that is how
41:55
[SPEAKER_01]: You have built everything you have and you can just cut it off at the knees and so it's important to find that balance And I think that what I love about this generation of kids that are growing up is that they're so fast And he did buy the things that were like, oh, they'll never know, but I'm like, but I hope one day Maybe you do get to know Yeah, it was so much simple Yes, you weren't connected all the time, you know, yeah
42:17
[SPEAKER_00]: And that's what Gilmore rolls feels so comforting, is because it feels like a period piece.
42:21
[SPEAKER_00]: It really does.
42:22
[SPEAKER_02]: It takes us all back to when we didn't have something in her hands.
42:27
[SPEAKER_02]: People always in contact with us or us scrolling or yes.
42:31
[SPEAKER_01]: And I do think that is part of the reason why people didn't gravitate towards the revival as much is because it of course took place in 2016.
42:39
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a different time.
42:40
[SPEAKER_01]: And one of Roy's storylines was that she had three cell phones and it's like yeah.
42:43
[SPEAKER_01]: That's not Gilmore girl.
42:45
[SPEAKER_02]: It didn't feel a little off-brand, I know.
42:47
[SPEAKER_02]: Going back to Gilmore girl's, back to the table, if you will, back to the table.
42:51
[SPEAKER_01]: Would you want to eat at Luke's soupies or MLAs?
42:56
[SPEAKER_02]: It depends what mood I'm in.
42:59
[SPEAKER_02]: It's also dependent on what happened that day.
43:01
[SPEAKER_02]: Do you want to eat like that?
43:02
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
43:03
[SPEAKER_02]: If I'm bored, I'm going to Emily's.
43:05
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, because I need to, you know what I mean?
43:07
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I need to feel something to see a little drama.
43:10
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
43:11
[SPEAKER_02]: I want comfort food.
43:12
[SPEAKER_02]: a burger, you know, fries, I'm gonna go to Luke's.
43:16
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if I want like the yapp session and the friendship and the whatever.
43:22
[SPEAKER_02]: Sookie.
43:23
[SPEAKER_02]: Totally.
43:23
[SPEAKER_01]: Because I mean, like Luke's also, you get like that socialization factor because like you know who's gonna be there from.
43:28
[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
43:29
[SPEAKER_01]: Town, Emily's the environment's a little more controlled because like who she inviting though.
43:33
[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes Ding-dong, a surprise.
43:35
[SPEAKER_01]: But then with Sookie, you're like, well, this is just, yeah, like girl talking, yeah.
43:40
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
43:41
[SPEAKER_01]: and maybe some comfort food depending on what she's making that night.
43:43
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I love that.
43:44
[SPEAKER_01]: It's really dependent on the mood.
43:46
[SPEAKER_01]: I also love how much you love Friday night dinner.
43:48
[SPEAKER_00]: Like I love that that was your hot take that you were like this is this is this set up of the show, but you're like, yeah, I'm down.
43:53
[SPEAKER_00]: But sometimes it's awful.
43:54
[SPEAKER_00]: Like so sometimes it's
43:56
[SPEAKER_02]: Not great.
43:57
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
43:58
[SPEAKER_00]: If you were to throw a Friday night dinner, who would be your nightmare guest to have?
44:03
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, God.
44:05
[SPEAKER_02]: Nightmare guest, but like low-key kind of would want her to be there.
44:08
[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe Andy and a camera as well.
44:09
[SPEAKER_02]: It would be Emily, I think.
44:11
[SPEAKER_02]: I think she's just such a complex, complicated character.
44:15
[SPEAKER_02]: That would be my nightmare.
44:18
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
44:18
[SPEAKER_01]: Well especially if like say you were like kind of to put a little twist on this question, say you were like the suki in the situation where remember they were hosting like a dinner party or they were going to cater a dinner party for Emily and her food was kind of gone under scrutiny.
44:33
[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like Emily would love you because you are very much like a suki.
44:36
[SPEAKER_01]: I can't get along with that with everyone.
44:39
[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
44:39
[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
44:40
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's funny because, like, when Laura Lysuke and Emily are in the same room, the dynamic shift is so hilarious because Emily is like, oh, Suki, you're so brilliant.
44:50
[SPEAKER_01]: Hello, Laura Lysuke.
44:51
[SPEAKER_01]: You know what?
44:52
[SPEAKER_01]: So I feel like you would be in the perfect spot because you would be feeding her and she'd be like, brilliant.
44:58
[SPEAKER_02]: I would make it my mission.
44:59
[SPEAKER_02]: I do that in life whenever there's someone that's like complicated or kind of a little rougher on the edges you could say.
45:06
[SPEAKER_02]: You're gonna love me.
45:07
[SPEAKER_00]: You watch this.
45:09
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I like no for sure.
45:11
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna get more hate me And I don't have anything to offer that she would appreciate.
45:14
[SPEAKER_00]: She's like you talk about a TV show That's what your job.
45:17
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay cool.
45:19
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but I feel like disdain.
45:21
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but I feel like having her over at your house It would maybe be a nightmare scenario
45:25
[SPEAKER_00]: prepping for it, like the stress of it.
45:28
[SPEAKER_00]: But once she's there, she's going to taste her food.
45:30
[SPEAKER_00]: She's going to be there and she's like, yeah, okay, give her a call.
45:33
[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to make her a martini.
45:34
[SPEAKER_01]: And it'll be fine.
45:36
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
45:37
[SPEAKER_02]: After one of my dirty martinis, she'll be all will be well.
45:41
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, we'll be well.
45:42
[SPEAKER_01]: We're good.
45:43
[SPEAKER_02]: So, speaking of food on the show,
45:45
[SPEAKER_01]: Have you ever tried to make any of the recipes?
45:48
[SPEAKER_01]: Because food, of course, is a big, big, big theme in the show.
45:52
[SPEAKER_01]: And a lot of people online, or even cookbooks have been released for people trying to make this food.
45:58
[SPEAKER_01]: So anything that you've made or want to try.
46:01
[SPEAKER_02]: Not a specific recipe, but a food group, known as poctarts.
46:06
[SPEAKER_02]: Let me tell you how my poctart makes me want to eat a poctart quite like this show.
46:12
[SPEAKER_02]: So there's a little something I do to it.
46:14
[SPEAKER_02]: I take a poctart.
46:15
[SPEAKER_02]: Specifically, I like like a strawberry frosted poctart.
46:18
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, my favorite, yes, ma'am.
46:20
[SPEAKER_02]: Butter on the top, you put it in the microwave to warm it just ever so slightly, you're welcome.
46:26
[SPEAKER_02]: That's all, oh my god.
46:27
[SPEAKER_02]: I've never had to be from the show, but yeah, popdarts, some show or, of course, yeah, classic.
46:32
[SPEAKER_02]: So that's what I do.
46:33
[SPEAKER_02]: I highly recommend it, it's salt and butter, slightly warmed on your popdarts, it's a dive for.
46:39
[SPEAKER_01]: Courtney, you are so good at taking something that otherwise would be so like obvious and making it unbelievable.
46:47
[SPEAKER_01]: Like I just so impressed by your ability to do that, you're like, you're like a popdart and some butter.
46:52
[SPEAKER_02]: And you put it in the, yeah.
46:55
[SPEAKER_02]: And it's just like this, oh my god, and it's delicious.
46:58
[SPEAKER_02]: How does the butter sit on the pop tart when you've put it on the melts?
47:01
[SPEAKER_02]: It melts.
47:02
[SPEAKER_02]: It melts.
47:02
[SPEAKER_02]: So you have to be warmed to pop tart?
47:05
[SPEAKER_00]: Do you put it on the frosting side or the other side?
47:07
[SPEAKER_02]: Frosted side.
47:08
[SPEAKER_02]: And so the top is like buttery and it's warm and it's soft.
47:12
[SPEAKER_02]: And then you get the sweetness from the jammets inside.
47:15
[SPEAKER_02]: I like the frost.
47:16
[SPEAKER_02]: I like that when the frost is not frost icing, there we are.
47:20
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, like just warms us a little bit into the texture changes and the salt and butter seeps down into it.
47:25
[SPEAKER_02]: It's just cool chill love.
47:27
[SPEAKER_00]: I remember about to leave right now.
47:30
[SPEAKER_02]: I love this is the recipe I'm talking about.
47:34
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, I have.
47:35
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20, I'm 20
47:58
[SPEAKER_00]: I like to make what I call a slutty snack plate where it's just more so that like Tara used the perfect word for it which I never wanted to use which was an orgy which is like I'll put like my pickles with my sunscreen crackers with the jam on it with watermelon with a little bit of like frosted Cheerios like something just a little something crunchy sour straw like you know to
48:22
[SPEAKER_00]: It's all to get like the pickles are touching the sour straws.
48:25
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they should never do that.
48:26
[SPEAKER_02]: So, but you know this is a slutty snack plate.
48:28
[SPEAKER_00]: No-one's judging and it's the And they know what if they are.
48:31
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't care.
48:32
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I am a snack plate.
48:33
[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely.
48:34
[SPEAKER_00]: And I had never thought because I always like to do like a peanut butter and jelly bit feels too much for So I started doing on saltines because I saw you doing that.
48:41
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my gosh
48:42
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I don't know what to do, I mean, I don't know what to do, I mean, I don't know what to do, I mean, I don't know what to do, I mean, I don't know what to do, I mean, I don't know what to do, I mean, I don't know what to do, I mean, I don't know what to do, I mean, I don't know what to do, I mean, I don't know what to do, I mean, I don't know what to do, I mean, I don't know what to do, I mean, I don't know what to do, I mean, I don't know what to do, I mean, I don't know what to do, I mean, I don't know what to do, I mean, I don't know what to do, I mean, I don't know what to do, I mean, I don't know what to do, I mean, I don't know what to do, I mean,
49:08
[SPEAKER_02]: elevating into this like experience and that's the whole point of couch snacks and there's a whole channel on music out snacks which yes so there's several things about chapter that we should be making while we're washing our shows this fall oh yes yes and I can't wait to make that menu with you okay so we have a couple of questions before we get into the rewatch menu which we're very
49:34
[SPEAKER_01]: You're throwing a dinner party in Star's Hollow.
49:36
[SPEAKER_02]: Yep.
49:36
[SPEAKER_02]: Who are the four guests that you're inviting?
49:39
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
49:39
[SPEAKER_02]: We'll lower a lie.
49:40
[SPEAKER_02]: Mm-hmm.
49:40
[SPEAKER_01]: Soky.
49:40
[SPEAKER_01]: Mm-hmm.
49:41
[SPEAKER_02]: Rory has to be there.
49:42
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, no.
49:42
[SPEAKER_01]: She doesn't have to.
49:43
[SPEAKER_02]: She doesn't have to.
49:44
[SPEAKER_02]: She doesn't have to.
49:45
[SPEAKER_02]: She doesn't have to.
49:45
[SPEAKER_02]: She doesn't have to.
49:46
[SPEAKER_02]: She doesn't have to.
49:47
[SPEAKER_02]: She doesn't have to.
49:47
[SPEAKER_00]: She doesn't have to.
49:48
[SPEAKER_00]: She doesn't have to.
49:48
[SPEAKER_00]: She doesn't have to.
49:49
[SPEAKER_00]: She doesn't have to.
49:50
[SPEAKER_00]: She doesn't have to.
49:51
[SPEAKER_00]: She doesn't have to.
49:51
[SPEAKER_01]: She doesn't have to.
49:52
[SPEAKER_01]: She doesn't have to.
49:52
[SPEAKER_00]: She doesn't have to.
49:54
[SPEAKER_02]: She doesn't have to.
49:55
[SPEAKER_01]: I do kind of like Richard.
49:57
[SPEAKER_01]: Any townies, any like bat, bat, any.
50:00
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't have any.
50:02
[SPEAKER_00]: The Lord likes to keep Justin Richard is actually this kind of a boss.
50:05
[SPEAKER_00]: But I think it's kind of fun.
50:07
[SPEAKER_00]: Can I come up with something different?
50:09
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they really all have something different.
50:11
[SPEAKER_00]: And they're dinner party.
50:12
[SPEAKER_00]: Would you be afraid to cook for Suki?
50:14
[SPEAKER_02]: No.
50:15
[SPEAKER_02]: No.
50:16
[SPEAKER_02]: No.
50:17
[SPEAKER_02]: No, she's so approachable and lovable.
50:19
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think I would be.
50:20
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah.
50:21
[SPEAKER_02]: That ever happened to me.
50:23
[SPEAKER_02]: I say that, of course, other probably nervous.
50:25
[SPEAKER_02]: I think I'm more nervous to go for Emily than I would, sokey.
50:28
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
50:28
[SPEAKER_02]: Or Lou, honestly, with how judgmental he can sometimes be.
50:31
[SPEAKER_01]: He can be kind of, yeah, he can be kind of hard to find.
50:34
[SPEAKER_01]: But I will say, sokey does kind of get a little spicy in the kitchen.
50:37
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, she gets spicy.
50:39
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, she gets spicy.
50:40
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
50:41
[SPEAKER_00]: I feel for sure it would be grateful that someone else made him dinner.
50:43
[SPEAKER_00]: Honestly, so I'm sorry.
50:47
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm obsessed with the four that you've gathered though.
50:51
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm seeing the name card sitting out and like the first person arriving being like, what is happening?
50:57
[SPEAKER_02]: Actually, I want to change my answer earlier.
50:59
[SPEAKER_02]: You said who's my nightmare guest Paris the first few seasons.
51:04
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah Yeah, I see you know nightmare.
51:07
[SPEAKER_01]: You know all's might be a little bit of a nightmare Taylor docy.
51:11
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, oh, if we're making a nightmare dinner I think it'd be like Paris Taylor docy Mrs. Kim Mrs. Kim.
51:18
[SPEAKER_00]: It's just like all these people who are so like
51:23
[SPEAKER_02]: I forgot.
51:23
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, like, is Kim.
51:24
[SPEAKER_00]: Richard's mom.
51:26
[SPEAKER_00]: Richard's mom.
51:26
[SPEAKER_00]: Tricks.
51:27
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, he's strong enough for that.
51:28
[SPEAKER_01]: Let me know for that lineup.
51:30
[SPEAKER_01]: That's the nightmare.
51:31
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just spiking everyone's drinks.
51:33
[SPEAKER_01]: No, 100.
51:34
[SPEAKER_02]: Spiking my own at that point.
51:35
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
51:36
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
51:36
[SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
51:37
[SPEAKER_01]: Give me out of here.
51:39
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
51:40
[SPEAKER_01]: Next question.
51:41
[SPEAKER_01]: Emily Gilmore shows up at your house last minute.
51:43
[SPEAKER_01]: What are you making her?
51:45
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, God.
51:46
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
51:46
[SPEAKER_02]: It's got to be something really elevated and special.
51:49
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to pull something from my book.
51:50
[SPEAKER_02]: Do it.
51:51
[SPEAKER_02]: Please do.
51:52
[SPEAKER_02]: I would do the reverse seared ribeye with all the Arab's compound butter.
51:58
[SPEAKER_02]: It's elevated.
51:59
[SPEAKER_02]: It's delicious.
52:00
[SPEAKER_02]: I kind of want to recreate like a fancy steak night vibe.
52:06
[SPEAKER_02]: I would do the borsan twice baked potatoes.
52:08
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, do really gorgeous salad.
52:11
[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously the dirty martini.
52:12
[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like I would do if I should need the cocktail.
52:15
[SPEAKER_02]: So either do the dirty martini?
52:17
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, and depending how I probably went to the part of the pomegranate rose, Mary martini.
52:21
[SPEAKER_02]: But I would do some sort of like cocktail in a beautiful glass.
52:25
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
52:26
[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like you'd start with dirty martinis.
52:27
[SPEAKER_00]: I talked to our for her cocktail hour and a little cocktail during in the like dental lounge area.
52:34
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
52:34
[SPEAKER_02]: And then she's very, you know, formal that way with the dining room being separate.
52:38
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I would probably do that would greet her with the dirty martini.
52:41
[SPEAKER_02]: We'd have like a little app or driven here.
52:43
[SPEAKER_02]: Then we would go to the dining room where we would do.
52:45
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
52:46
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
52:47
[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like you could maybe kind of get her on board with like an
52:54
[SPEAKER_00]: on a silver tray.
52:54
[SPEAKER_00]: We could do the pop charts.
52:55
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm super trained.
52:56
[SPEAKER_00]: No, seriously.
52:57
[SPEAKER_00]: She's all the same.
52:58
[SPEAKER_00]: She would eat that on.
52:59
[SPEAKER_00]: And she's calling her like, I had a pop took today.
53:03
[SPEAKER_02]: You know what?
53:03
[SPEAKER_01]: But like you'd call it something else.
53:05
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, exactly 100.
53:07
[SPEAKER_01]: That was a girl.
53:08
[SPEAKER_02]: Like she would.
53:09
[SPEAKER_01]: That is exactly her because there's an episode with Suki.
53:12
[SPEAKER_01]: Is it in season six or seven where her parents are coming over?
53:16
[SPEAKER_01]: It's and it's season six and she creates like this whole spread.
53:20
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's all comfort food for Laura.
53:23
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not realizing that I'm a lean brocheter coming over and she starts re-naming everything so that it can be palatable for the Gilmourer and that's true.
53:30
[SPEAKER_00]: So, that's so, it's like mac and cheese and she calls it pasta all of a sudden.
53:36
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
53:36
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
53:36
[SPEAKER_02]: No, that's actually a great life lesson.
53:40
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
53:41
[SPEAKER_02]: When in doubt, rename it, you know.
53:42
[SPEAKER_02]: Rename it.
53:43
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, you're so loving the script.
53:46
[SPEAKER_01]: So, so true.
53:47
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, last question.
53:49
[SPEAKER_01]: The Gilmore kind of kind of in line with couch snacks.
53:51
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
53:52
[SPEAKER_01]: The Gilmore girls are having a movie night.
53:54
[SPEAKER_01]: What items from your menu are you giving them as couch snacks?
53:58
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so I feel like we have to lean fall.
54:02
[SPEAKER_01]: Raid?
54:02
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, like they don't move out too.
54:05
[SPEAKER_01]: They have movie nights year round though.
54:07
[SPEAKER_01]: So don't let me yourself, but also yeah.
54:09
[SPEAKER_01]: But now that we're like pretty much almost in fall, and then like a few days, right?
54:14
[SPEAKER_02]: From the bougie couch sacks.
54:16
[SPEAKER_02]: So I have the Saltine Cracker Grid, but I also have a popcorn, like elevated popcorn grid.
54:22
[SPEAKER_02]: There is this like caramel apple popcorn that I do.
54:26
[SPEAKER_02]: And you get these like nuts with dried cranberries
54:32
[SPEAKER_02]: caramel sauce and just kind of josep and you warm up a little bit with a little bit of cinnamon in there and toss it all together bake it real quick and it creates just like gorgeous little popcorn moment I feel like I would probably do that I would make bourbon cider teenies which
54:48
[SPEAKER_02]: Burbed in the fall.
54:50
[SPEAKER_02]: I actually don't ever drink bourbon any other time of year, but bourbon in the fall and then this recipe It has a lot of lemon juice and it's just like it's almost like a bourbon sour kind of but it's not overly sweet They're some cinnamon in there too.
55:02
[SPEAKER_02]: Everybody always loves it even if they don't like bourbon then like I would make that as the cocktail
55:07
[SPEAKER_02]: We need one more thing.
55:08
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, we should do dessert.
55:10
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, to the apples foster dessert.
55:12
[SPEAKER_02]: So it's like a play on banana's foster, but apples, and it's so fire.
55:18
[SPEAKER_02]: It's so good.
55:19
[SPEAKER_02]: That spoon over a little bit of ice cream.
55:20
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and that's so sick of you.
55:22
[SPEAKER_00]: It's like when she wanted to make strawberry shortcake, but they're very, so they're okay.
55:27
[SPEAKER_02]: Love it.
55:28
[SPEAKER_02]: That's my son.
55:29
[SPEAKER_02]: You.
55:29
[SPEAKER_02]: I love that.
55:30
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's a fun.
55:31
[SPEAKER_02]: And if you don't have apples, let's say you're in stone fruit season, use peaches.
55:35
[SPEAKER_02]: Peaches foster.
55:53
[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like there are a lot of these couch snacks that you could take and feed to the Gilmore girls and they'd be like, this is great.
55:58
[SPEAKER_01]: This is good.
55:59
[SPEAKER_02]: This is where the GG girls.
56:01
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, but the popcorn specifically, I really think they would just...
56:07
[SPEAKER_01]: I've got a dirty martini popcorn.
56:10
[SPEAKER_00]: Do you do you do pop corn actually I need that to be my I'm so good.
56:16
[SPEAKER_01]: That sounds so good But I am very partial to this caramel apple pop.
56:20
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I just think it's like I love an apple and she light would be really nice Cornful light in like a little two glasses and mass see wow wait.
56:31
[SPEAKER_00]: That's this idea
56:33
[SPEAKER_00]: That would be so fun.
56:34
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm absolutely gonna be doing that.
56:36
[SPEAKER_02]: I love a couch snack pairing with a show that's like my favorite thing to do.
56:40
[SPEAKER_02]: Normally this time of year and I do with all sorts of movies and shows and things that we should do.
56:44
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, some sort of flight with a wee show episode.
56:47
[SPEAKER_02]: I've got to do a deep dive on this.
56:48
[SPEAKER_00]: I like a lot.
56:49
[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe like a pairing of like a popcorn snack.
56:52
[SPEAKER_00]: couch snack flight with like a drink flight by empowering them with like each of the flavors.
56:58
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god I wish we could do this to find.
57:00
[SPEAKER_00]: Which I imagine I know this would be so fine.
57:03
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, we've got to make it happen Yes, we do but on that note let's get into cheese gals Gilmore rewatch menu because okay
57:11
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm very excited to hear your recommendations for fasting and small and for us because we'll be real.
57:18
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to be the first one to be this.
57:20
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, we're recording this very advanced.
57:22
[SPEAKER_00]: Stepping out of the fictional, it's for our audience, for Gilmore Girls lovers, for actually for us.
57:27
[SPEAKER_00]: This is for us personally and we're just going to share with everyone else because I feel like a rewatch can go a bunch of different ways like maybe having a rewatch with friends because I know like when the revival came out and Tara had a watch party.
57:38
[SPEAKER_00]: I had a watch party and
57:42
[SPEAKER_01]: It was like pop tarts.
57:43
[SPEAKER_01]: It was I did twizzlers because I know a lot of people don't like red mines I did popcorn I did I do too actually really like them But I also love twizzlers so I was I was fine with it I did founders day punch.
57:54
[SPEAKER_01]: I did popcorn in like the black white and red movie theater I like me these little puffs or anything.
57:59
[SPEAKER_01]: So it was really fine.
58:00
[SPEAKER_01]: Very thematic
58:01
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, malamars.
58:03
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, like all of these things that feel classic, but as I mentioned earlier, you're so good at taking something that's like a classic and elegant, a little twist.
58:12
[SPEAKER_00]: Because I feel like it exists in that sort of party.
58:14
[SPEAKER_00]: There's the documentary that's coming out next year.
58:16
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god.
58:17
[SPEAKER_00]: Need to do this for that.
58:18
[SPEAKER_00]: But it's also something that you do by yourself.
58:21
[SPEAKER_00]: So I guess ranging from like having some gals over or your your pals doesn't just have to be the gals or just by yourself like how would you set that up?
58:31
[SPEAKER_02]: I would lean couch-knack slash appetizers because again that goes for whether you're hosting yourself or your best friends or whatever.
58:41
[SPEAKER_02]: There's okay.
58:42
[SPEAKER_02]: So the first thing that pops to mind, I have an appetizer in here that's like,
58:46
[SPEAKER_02]: play on sausage and peppers, but I make it into this.
58:49
[SPEAKER_02]: It kind of reminds me of the pizza element of like they always love to take it.
58:53
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and it makes me feel a little reath, and then you tear it out and it's got the Italian sausage in it and wrapped in puff pastry, you dip it in marinara sauce, so there's some plan, the pizza element.
59:02
[SPEAKER_02]: It's like...
59:03
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I would do that.
59:05
[SPEAKER_02]: I would do the crispy baked boreson.
59:07
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if you guys can open it.
59:08
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, but yes, try it in true class.
59:11
[SPEAKER_02]: It's so easy.
59:12
[SPEAKER_02]: And you can eat a whole one by yourself if you need.
59:14
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yes, I could.
59:15
[SPEAKER_02]: Don't have to tell me.
59:17
[SPEAKER_02]: I was going to say if you have people over make more than one.
59:20
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, everything.
59:22
[SPEAKER_02]: Unfortunately, I'm so sorry.
59:23
[SPEAKER_02]: I think I would have cheese in it.
59:25
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm pretty
59:25
[SPEAKER_00]: No, but I, there's a dairy for you.
59:27
[SPEAKER_00]: I was just dairy for you.
59:27
[SPEAKER_00]: I was saying there's actually a recipe of yours that was the whipped goat cheese on the nine.
59:34
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and I'm so excited to make that.
59:36
[SPEAKER_00]: Because I made a, but I can't have goat cheese, but there's all these substitutions I can make.
59:40
[SPEAKER_00]: Cause I like to be like cheese now.
59:43
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, there's a really good whipped ricotta.
59:46
[SPEAKER_00]: It's very free and so it's like there's like other things that I can make because I was like this sounds good, but that one feels like a little pizza-y.
59:54
[SPEAKER_00]: Yep, in that vibe.
59:54
[SPEAKER_02]: Totally on the nons like a little flat, right?
59:56
[SPEAKER_02]: But like a little bit sweet.
59:58
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
59:58
[SPEAKER_00]: What else would I do?
59:59
[SPEAKER_02]: I'll probably just feel like an extra little snack thing to pop in your mouth.
1:00:02
[SPEAKER_02]: I make these cocktail olives.
1:00:04
[SPEAKER_02]: They quite literally have like vermuth and vodka in them.
1:00:08
[SPEAKER_02]: So in you step them with blue cheese or you could do a dairy free cheese.
1:00:12
[SPEAKER_02]: Easy swap.
1:00:13
[SPEAKER_02]: I would do, oh god.
1:00:15
[SPEAKER_02]: I would probably make either a picture of cocktails.
1:00:18
[SPEAKER_02]: What would I do here?
1:00:19
[SPEAKER_02]: I might do the rosemary pomegranate martini.
1:00:22
[SPEAKER_02]: It's just because they're so festive and yeah, love.
1:00:26
[SPEAKER_02]: Love that one.
1:00:28
[SPEAKER_02]: And then desserts, gotta do cookies.
1:00:29
[SPEAKER_02]: I would do, cares, you have to do her potato chip cookies, potato chip on cookies.
1:00:35
[SPEAKER_02]: Or, um, my mom's a Bistarsi, Darcy's kindness cookies.
1:00:40
[SPEAKER_02]: They're a mix of like a brownie and a cookie.
1:00:43
[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, they're a brand new, we made them for the book shoot.
1:00:46
[SPEAKER_02]: They were gone.
1:00:47
[SPEAKER_02]: And it makes a really big batch too.
1:00:49
[SPEAKER_02]: So you can just sit there and they're great with coffee.
1:00:51
[SPEAKER_02]: The next morning too.
1:00:52
[SPEAKER_02]: Actually, both of you use our, that's my menu.
1:00:54
[SPEAKER_02]: It's like snacky.
1:00:55
[SPEAKER_02]: It's like things that are easy to just.
1:00:57
[SPEAKER_02]: I wouldn't do full out dinner.
1:00:59
[SPEAKER_02]: I would, no, yeah, do snacks.
1:01:01
[SPEAKER_01]: But I think if you were to go in like a meal direction, the Pemento mac and cheese, I think, would be, they would clot for food such comfort food.
1:01:10
[SPEAKER_01]: And also speaking of things you could turn into a flight.
1:01:12
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, yeah, like you could have different variations on mac and cheese along with the popcorn.
1:01:18
[SPEAKER_00]: You need to have a flight night where everything is delivered in a flight night.
1:01:22
[SPEAKER_02]: The name in it, in it, I was genius.
1:01:25
[SPEAKER_00]: And like thematically, make, I don't know what,
1:01:28
[SPEAKER_00]: You're on an airplane?
1:01:30
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, honestly, I've been going to take some of the moves and put them on the phone before.
1:01:36
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, because you could do that with a whole couch snack chapter.
1:01:38
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
1:01:39
[SPEAKER_00]: I kind of like doing this for Halloween instead of freight night.
1:01:42
[SPEAKER_00]: It's like night and it's like Halloween party and everything's in a flight this has to happen.
1:01:47
[SPEAKER_00]: OK, yes.
1:01:48
[SPEAKER_00]: You throw this party and I will come with what you're invited.
1:01:51
[SPEAKER_01]: You throw the party people come.
1:01:52
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm inviting myself to a party that I'm making.
1:01:55
[SPEAKER_00]: I love it and I feel like those are all things though that you could like make for yourself Yeah, especially like you were talking about the like pull apart sausages.
1:02:05
[SPEAKER_00]: It's like you could make that and then have the next day Like have a little less of our moment Because it's just so there's just so many different things in this cookbook that I feel like are perfect for rewatchedies And I when I like went through it trying to of course I always go through trying to find out where the swaps are it was almost every single recipe that I could
1:02:24
[SPEAKER_00]: and I know that that really could be so happy especially the popcorn like you yeah oh yeah I'm so excited because I feel like that's like the perfect we watch but also popping in with like the Courtney touches like maybe we'll throw in a little pop tart with a little melted butter if you give it a microwave oh my god because I feel like that's a homemade homemade homemade if you will
1:02:46
[SPEAKER_02]: And I do love a semi homemade moment.
1:02:48
[SPEAKER_02]: I really do love it.
1:02:49
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's totally, yeah, that's absolutely.
1:02:52
[SPEAKER_00]: And I feel like that's what's so great about what you do.
1:02:54
[SPEAKER_00]: Like whether someone follows you or they buy your cookbook, I feel like everything can be so accessible for a Gilmar girl's night.
1:03:00
[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe sitting on your couch with your friends, maybe by yourself and your bed with your own little slutty snack plate full of stuff.
1:03:07
[SPEAKER_00]: I've said full of court news recipes.
1:03:10
[SPEAKER_00]: What would you said the Bev?
1:03:11
[SPEAKER_00]: Is there a mock tale version of a fall?
1:03:15
[SPEAKER_00]: Drink that you would make for you.
1:03:17
[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe it's too young.
1:03:19
[SPEAKER_02]: Think about that.
1:03:20
[SPEAKER_02]: No, we could totally do it mock-tail.
1:03:22
[SPEAKER_02]: Actually drink.
1:03:24
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean my daughter makes what she's so her name is Charlotte.
1:03:27
[SPEAKER_02]: She makes a shar-shar Margarita as what she calls it.
1:03:32
[SPEAKER_02]: And so I mean, that's actually actually a margarita recipe of the book, but you obviously hers is just like lime juice, seltzer, she does a little govay, she's not like, she's such a question.
1:03:43
[SPEAKER_00]: She's like, I got, she kills me.
1:03:46
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm doing a Sharsha Rita and for a long time because I don't really drink that much.
1:03:51
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I love to, I like to take the base of like a cocktail and turn it into a little
1:03:58
[SPEAKER_02]: I was too say they have a really good in a spirit.
1:04:00
[SPEAKER_02]: Really good in a spirit.
1:04:02
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and so I feel like you could do that with any of your cocktails.
1:04:05
[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely.
1:04:05
[SPEAKER_00]: Someone who doesn't drink.
1:04:07
[SPEAKER_02]: And I have some good low ABV cocktails in here too.
1:04:10
[SPEAKER_02]: There's a LA cocktail, the levy in LA that's really nice and low ABV.
1:04:17
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, besides just swapping, I'm trying to think which ones specifically would be a good mock-till.
1:04:23
[SPEAKER_02]: Someone did ask me recently, and I felt so bad.
1:04:25
[SPEAKER_01]: They were like, I need a mock-till dirty martini, and I was like, well, it's all about, well, I don't recommend what I'll bother.
1:04:36
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, just like a non-alcoholic vodka, you know what I mean, true.
1:04:41
[SPEAKER_01]: That's really the only way that they do that.
1:04:43
[SPEAKER_02]: That's really the only way to do it.
1:04:44
[SPEAKER_00]: Otherwise, it's just a little water, a little olive juice.
1:04:48
[SPEAKER_00]: There you go.
1:04:48
[SPEAKER_00]: And call it a day.
1:04:49
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
1:04:50
[SPEAKER_00]: It's just a dirty part.
1:04:52
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but they do, they do have some really good non-alcoholic spirits now that don't taste like fruit juice, you know.
1:05:01
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, good in a wines.
1:05:02
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, totally one on a Gilmour Girls sort of wrote trip a couple of years ago.
1:05:07
[SPEAKER_00]: And we ended up at the Mayflower Inn, which is what inspired the independence in.
1:05:10
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
1:05:11
[SPEAKER_00]: And we went to the bar and met the bartender and she made us the most delicious and a cocktails like mocktails that like I still dream about them to this day.
1:05:20
[SPEAKER_00]: Really.
1:05:20
[SPEAKER_00]: So delicious.
1:05:21
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
1:05:22
[SPEAKER_00]: And she was a huge Gamarkals fan too, which is so fun.
1:05:24
[SPEAKER_00]: Made it all the better.
1:05:25
[SPEAKER_00]: That's what 80s it's so good.
1:05:26
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's true.
1:05:28
[SPEAKER_02]: I do love, I mean, that's even with mocktails.
1:05:30
[SPEAKER_02]: It doesn't have to be boring.
1:05:31
[SPEAKER_02]: You can still have this gorgeous elevated experience.
1:05:34
[SPEAKER_02]: There's a few creators, I'll send you that make incredible mocktails.
1:05:38
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm blanking on her name right now, but her name is Olivia, and she's out in San Francisco.
1:05:41
[SPEAKER_02]: I'll send you her.
1:05:42
[SPEAKER_02]: That was amazing.
1:05:43
[SPEAKER_02]: Amazing mocktails.
1:05:44
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, well, add it to our Gamarkals, we'll watch, man, you love.
1:05:48
[SPEAKER_00]: When it comes to, I guess, having a moment like that with your friends, beyond the food, what's a special touch that you would add to that to make it feel like that Courtney warmth that you want to bring to the people sitting on your couch?
1:06:00
[SPEAKER_00]: It's all about the environment.
1:06:02
[SPEAKER_02]: And it's the same whether you're hosting just a couple friends or you're hosting a table of 10 from the second that they step into your home or your space.
1:06:11
[SPEAKER_02]: It's making them just feel seen and love.
1:06:14
[SPEAKER_02]: So like how that starts for me as it canals are everywhere.
1:06:16
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
1:06:17
[SPEAKER_02]: We are setting the mood, candles, never the big lights.
1:06:21
[SPEAKER_02]: Getting rid of that dimmer, never the big light.
1:06:24
[SPEAKER_01]: Never the big lights.
1:06:25
[SPEAKER_01]: Brett turns the big light, my fiancee.
1:06:27
[SPEAKER_01]: He turns the big lights on all the time.
1:06:29
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, would you have been done with it?
1:06:31
[SPEAKER_02]: It has impact on what we see in it.
1:06:32
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, this is the count, but I have this light on right now.
1:06:34
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, that needs to be dimmer.
1:06:35
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I know these men, they love it.
1:06:39
[SPEAKER_01]: I know I'm like, you guys, what is wrong?
1:06:42
[SPEAKER_01]: you're killing the vibe.
1:06:43
[SPEAKER_01]: You're literally killing the vibes right now.
1:06:45
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so no big like it's turn your lamp's on like have your candles have a little music the blankets.
1:06:52
[SPEAKER_02]: If you're doing the rewatch, the blankets matter, something with some weight to it.
1:06:56
[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I'm saying?
1:06:58
[SPEAKER_02]: Something that just in the love blanket.
1:07:00
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I have like three in my living room right now.
1:07:03
[SPEAKER_02]: Those are like our favorite.
1:07:05
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, low, low blanket.
1:07:07
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I don't know.
1:07:08
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you've got your stuff set out and pretty maybe some flowers.
1:07:12
[SPEAKER_02]: It doesn't have to be anything expensive or complicated.
1:07:15
[SPEAKER_02]: It's truly just like setting the vibe.
1:07:18
[SPEAKER_02]: That's what I did for you.
1:07:18
[SPEAKER_02]: These are like all.
1:07:20
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, hobby lobby flowers.
1:07:22
[SPEAKER_00]: Period love it.
1:07:23
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they're beautiful.
1:07:24
[SPEAKER_02]: But that's what you do.
1:07:25
[SPEAKER_02]: You just make it feel cozy.
1:07:28
[SPEAKER_02]: If it's fire season in your fireplace, have that fireplace on.
1:07:31
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, my gosh, we have a wood burning.
1:07:33
[SPEAKER_02]: fireplace for the first time, which has been at the end of November, and I'm reams obsessed hearing that crackle.
1:07:41
[SPEAKER_02]: So unmatched.
1:07:42
[SPEAKER_02]: Another thing that's really cool.
1:07:44
[SPEAKER_02]: Just like setting the vibe, and you can have your cocktails and your glasses or whatever you're serving out on your coffee table or on little even if you don't have a coffee table.
1:07:55
[SPEAKER_02]: TV trays.
1:07:56
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, TV trays with your little, yes, on the floor, you do like a floor pillows and your blankets.
1:08:02
[SPEAKER_02]: Just making it coat.
1:08:02
[SPEAKER_02]: You have socks for everybody.
1:08:04
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, robes.
1:08:07
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, sweats of a robe.
1:08:09
[SPEAKER_00]: Do you want me?
1:08:10
[SPEAKER_00]: I know.
1:08:12
[SPEAKER_00]: And so we'll come to your house and you'll have ropes and socks and sweatshirts.
1:08:17
[SPEAKER_00]: I can't wait, that's not that literally you're just making me honestly want to go eat.
1:08:22
[SPEAKER_00]: I need to go find a pop culture.
1:08:24
[SPEAKER_00]: I need to plan a party right now is probably just be my mom coming, but like that's what I prefer.
1:08:32
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, very different roles of you.
1:08:34
[SPEAKER_00]: You and your mom are really, honestly, so I'm brand.
1:08:37
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, but I just feel like so much of what you've offered here, just like I'm so excited for fall.
1:08:41
[SPEAKER_00]: I hope everyone else is.
1:08:43
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, but we have one more little segment that we have for you that we call oversharing or over-served.
1:08:51
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, we are, I'm ready.
1:08:52
[SPEAKER_00]: People on Gamark rolls have overshared of their own volition or they have been over-served and they have overshared.
1:09:00
[SPEAKER_00]: And you get to blame it maybe on the fact that you were over served as to how you overshared.
1:09:05
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
1:09:05
[SPEAKER_00]: So we're going to give it's kind of a would you rather and so present the scenarios they might be a little confusing because we tried to make them applicable to you.
1:09:12
[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.
1:09:13
[SPEAKER_00]: I'll be doing that.
1:09:13
[SPEAKER_00]: But it might be confusing and if you need us to remind you of the scenario from the show, we can totally do that too.
1:09:19
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
1:09:20
[SPEAKER_00]: So the first one is would you rather over share that you had sex for the first time in front of your
1:09:28
[SPEAKER_00]: be over-served and share on the mic at your daughter's best friends wedding in front of all of your friends and fiances friends that you don't think you'll ever get married.
1:09:37
[SPEAKER_02]: I think I'd rather them hear me say I don't want to get married.
1:09:41
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
1:09:42
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's that we spend the other girl in me.
1:09:45
[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's the southern girl in me.
1:09:46
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, well, I'm like, I know I have kids, but no, I don't know.
1:09:50
[SPEAKER_01]: I've never had any of them.
1:09:54
[SPEAKER_01]: Seriously, but like, I have not the conventional way.
1:09:56
[SPEAKER_01]: The store can.
1:09:57
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, totally.
1:09:58
[SPEAKER_01]: It's also the sea span of it all.
1:10:02
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh my god.
1:10:03
[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
1:10:04
[SPEAKER_01]: Like that's like clip that.
1:10:07
[SPEAKER_01]: Real one drunk and night is one thing but Seaspan is forever, you know?
1:10:11
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
1:10:11
[SPEAKER_01]: So I agree with you.
1:10:13
[SPEAKER_01]: I think I agree with you.
1:10:14
[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, it's a lot of people who know you.
1:10:16
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
1:10:17
[SPEAKER_01]: Those words.
1:10:17
[SPEAKER_01]: But Ms. Patty saved Laura like.
1:10:19
[SPEAKER_01]: She was like, no, no.
1:10:20
[SPEAKER_01]: We've got it under control.
1:10:21
[SPEAKER_01]: Come on.
1:10:24
[SPEAKER_01]: would you rather overshare with your mom that you slept with your married ex boyfriend because you thought she would be supportive?
1:10:30
[SPEAKER_01]: That was a moment, girl.
1:10:33
[SPEAKER_01]: Or would you rather be over-served and share with your ex girlfriend's ex boyfriend's uncle that you're still in love with your ex the day before you get married?
1:10:43
[SPEAKER_01]: And that is Dean the night before he marries Lindsay because he
1:10:55
[SPEAKER_02]: one of them is
1:10:56
[SPEAKER_02]: pretty bad.
1:10:57
[SPEAKER_02]: You're sleeping with someone that's married.
1:10:59
[SPEAKER_02]: That's pretty bad.
1:11:00
[SPEAKER_02]: That's right.
1:11:00
[SPEAKER_02]: The other one saying that you're still.
1:11:02
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, God.
1:11:03
[SPEAKER_02]: I probably would choose the second.
1:11:06
[SPEAKER_02]: I think me too.
1:11:07
[SPEAKER_01]: Because he keeps the secret feelings or one thing acting on them is acting out the exactly different story.
1:11:16
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
1:11:16
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
1:11:18
[SPEAKER_01]: It's almost like one is the cause of what is the effect.
1:11:20
[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
1:11:21
[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
1:11:21
[SPEAKER_01]: So I guess we'll go with one.
1:11:24
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly.
1:11:25
[SPEAKER_01]: Still bad.
1:11:26
[SPEAKER_01]: Still horrible.
1:11:28
[SPEAKER_01]: Still maybe I don't get married to them.
1:11:30
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I'm great.
1:11:31
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
1:11:31
[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah.
1:11:33
[SPEAKER_01]: Totally.
1:11:34
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, dude.
1:11:34
[SPEAKER_01]: And then the last one is, would you rather overshare your feelings for your ex-boyfriends wife while she overhears you one aisle over in the grocery store?
1:11:44
[SPEAKER_01]: Or would you rather be over-served and call your mom from a party you're not supposed to be at and reveal your secret life to her over-served?
1:11:53
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
1:11:54
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
1:11:54
[SPEAKER_02]: Totally.
1:11:55
[SPEAKER_02]: Because you know your mom's always going to love you and she's going to have your back.
1:11:58
[SPEAKER_01]: You hope with Lane, it is plain.
1:12:01
[SPEAKER_01]: I'd see him and Mrs. Kim.
1:12:02
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, nothing really came of that stuff.
1:12:05
[SPEAKER_01]: I think.
1:12:06
