- 0:07Speaker 1: Glad you're with us this morning as we get you
- 0:10Speaker 1: to the football weekend.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Chad, good morning to you. And it's great to be
- 0:14Speaker 2: with you on this morning. Great to have the lovely
- 0:17Speaker 2: sounds of Derek Dooley intro us on the show and
- 0:20Speaker 2: completely eviscerate us to open. here on a Friday. I
- 0:23Speaker 2: love to be humbled early in the morning. Nowadays, just
- 0:27Speaker 2: waking up at 5.30 a.m. is a humbling experience every morning.
- 0:31Speaker 2: It's good to open with a bit of humility on
- 0:34Speaker 2: this show, Hutton, and that's what we do every day
- 0:37Speaker 2: when Derek Dooley talks down to us. I love it.
- 0:39Speaker 1: You know what? Humbly and grateful. Grateful that we are
- 0:43Speaker 1: at Sport and State. And, Jet, it is becoming difficult
- 0:48Speaker 1: right out of the chute, right out of the gate.
- 0:51Speaker 1: to name every platform that we're on.
- 0:54Speaker 2: You know? It's a list. It's lengthy.
- 0:57Speaker 1: We want to be wherever you consume your podcast, your media,
- 1:02Speaker 1: your live stream, wherever it might be. We're live for
- 1:04Speaker 1: a reason. We want to be smart, original, funny, authentic.
- 1:08Speaker 1: And we're streaming live at sportinstate.com. We are on the
- 1:11Speaker 1: YouTube channel for Hutton and Withrow. We hope you'll like, comment, subscribe,
- 1:17Speaker 1: do all those things. And right now, front page... at
- 1:20Speaker 1: the Daily Wire for distribution there. Great partnership. And we
- 1:25Speaker 1: are presented by Hard Rock Bet. Chad, we've got plenty
- 1:29Speaker 1: to get to. We've got Niners and Rams reaction. We've
- 1:32Speaker 1: got a weekend preview for the top college football games
- 1:34Speaker 1: of the weekend from you. But we have to start
- 1:37Speaker 1: with the anniversary of 9-11, the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Everyone remembers where they were that day. And, you know,
- 1:49Speaker 1: the The constant, the memorials, the documentaries, the different things
- 1:56Speaker 1: that I will stream, really over the last weekend, four
- 2:02Speaker 1: or five days, that bring back the emotions of that moment,
- 2:06Speaker 1: of that week, of that year, of the last 25 years.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Yeah, may we never forget. Yeah, it's one of those
- 2:14Speaker 2: that it stirs a feeling when you think about 9-11.
- 2:17Speaker 2: It's crazy to think 25 years ago this has happened.
- 2:21Speaker 2: I can still vividly remember the five-year anniversary, the 10-year anniversary,
- 2:25Speaker 2: and all the different memorials on the networks and everyone
- 2:27Speaker 2: doing a look back on 9-11 and what it meant,
- 2:31Speaker 2: not just for the United States, but for the world.
- 2:33Speaker 2: And I think about that time, Hutton, and I look
- 2:36Speaker 2: at it from both a national perspective and from a
- 2:39Speaker 2: sports perspective. And I could see what it looks like.
- 2:43Speaker 2: You know, I can see what Derek Jeter in a
- 2:46Speaker 2: Yankees uniform in 2001 looked like. I could see what
- 2:49Speaker 2: it looked like with the Patriots and the player who
- 2:52Speaker 2: ran through the tunnel with the American flag high overhead,
- 2:57Speaker 2: whose brother was involved, was a firefighter or a police
- 3:01Speaker 2: officer in 9-11. All those different things that you remember,
- 3:05Speaker 2: like what it looked like, what a lack of high
- 3:07Speaker 2: def looked like. In 2001, when you watch your television
- 3:11Speaker 2: screen and you got the terrible news about those planes
- 3:14Speaker 2: hitting the towers. Look, we work in an emotional business.
- 3:20Speaker 2: We're not immune from emotion, too. We're going to get
- 3:23Speaker 2: fired up about different things we talk about on this
- 3:25Speaker 2: show in regards to sports. But I think everyone who
- 3:28Speaker 2: lived in America during that time, and everybody's got a
- 3:30Speaker 2: very different perspective. Some were close to it. Some were
- 3:33Speaker 2: far away from it. I would consider myself someone who's
- 3:36Speaker 2: far away from it, not having known anyone in in
- 3:39Speaker 2: New York City that day, not having known anyone at
- 3:41Speaker 2: the towers or any of that. But if you were
- 3:43Speaker 2: far away from it or close to it, everybody felt
- 3:47Speaker 2: it intimately that day and in that moment. And I
- 3:50Speaker 2: think that we experience sports in such a different way
- 3:53Speaker 2: at that point also. It really did change perspective on everything.
- 3:59Speaker 2: It gave everybody. I joked about waking up at 5.30,
- 4:02Speaker 2: you're humbled every day when you wake up. I'm humbled
- 4:05Speaker 2: when I think back to the level of appreciation we
- 4:08Speaker 2: had just to get back to normalcy right after that, right?
- 4:12Speaker 2: Just to have games, just to have people in a
- 4:16Speaker 2: stadium celebrating their favorite team, things that you take for granted.
- 4:20Speaker 2: And sadly, it takes things like this sometimes to give
- 4:24Speaker 2: you that perspective to show just how important these things are,
- 4:28Speaker 2: how American they are. Boy, I just think back to
- 4:31Speaker 2: that time, Hutton, and it's so sad. to think about
- 4:35Speaker 2: all the lives lost that day. But also I have
- 4:37Speaker 2: a great respect for everything that followed from nine 11,
- 4:41Speaker 2: because it gave me a new respect for all the
- 4:44Speaker 2: things that I love so much. Forgive me.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Cause I'm going to grab this real quick because there's,
- 4:47Speaker 1: there's a, there's a couple of things I want to
- 4:49Speaker 1: reminisce on, uh, about that moment.
- 4:51Speaker 2: You and I can relate to.
- 4:52Speaker 1: But the first one is you and I are two
- 4:56Speaker 1: years apart. I'm a junior in high school. Um, or
- 5:00Speaker 1: take that back. I'm a, I'm a senior in high school. And, uh,
- 5:04Speaker 1: I'm in second period and I vividly remember my teacher
- 5:09Speaker 1: coming in and thinking, she's terrified for the boys and
- 5:14Speaker 1: men in the, they're 18 year olds that are in
- 5:16Speaker 1: our class thinking about going to war, right? In the
- 5:22Speaker 1: real time. And over the last 25 years, you and
- 5:26Speaker 1: I have met soldiers and defenders of our country who
- 5:31Speaker 1: signed up for it, for the war on terror. Um,
- 5:35Speaker 1: We certainly know Aaron Bell, who was a Green Beret, right?
- 5:43Speaker 1: Signed up for three or four tours. Craig Nance, a
- 5:46Speaker 1: great friend of ours with connections to the military. In
- 5:49Speaker 1: my backdrop here in my studio, I have the Nick Stone.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Nick is here.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Nick Moses, who signed up for the war on terror
- 5:57Speaker 1: and lost his life after going on, he was preparing
- 6:00Speaker 1: for his fourth tour, going to Afghanistan. These are the
- 6:04Speaker 1: guys I think of on days like today. You mentioned sports.
- 6:11Speaker 1: I remember like during the, you know, everyone kneeling for
- 6:15Speaker 1: the anthem during Kaepernick and the topics we would have
- 6:19Speaker 1: on our show about.
- 6:20Speaker 2: Why do we play the anthem at the games anyway?
- 6:23Speaker 2: This is why.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Because sports and what it meant during that week, that month,
- 6:29Speaker 1: that year, A week later, Chad, George W. Bush stands
- 6:37Speaker 1: on the mound at Yankee Stadium and delivers a strike
- 6:39Speaker 1: right down the middle from the mound at Yankee Stadium.
- 6:44Speaker 1: And what that meant with everybody around, that still sends
- 6:51Speaker 1: chills down my spine, thinking about that moment when he
- 6:57Speaker 1: delivers the strike right down. Standing and giving the speech
- 7:00Speaker 1: in the rubble. I've got family members and great friends.
- 7:05Speaker 1: One of them works at the Pentagon. His office, you
- 7:08Speaker 1: can see the concrete where they repaired the Pentagon and
- 7:12Speaker 1: the different coloration, the discoloration from the new concrete to
- 7:16Speaker 1: the old, and you can see the split in the wall.
- 7:20Speaker 2: Those things are tangible.
- 7:21Speaker 1: And real, and those are the feelings I get today,
- 7:24Speaker 1: along with the coverage and I don't know. That's whenever
- 7:28Speaker 1: America came together and the idea that everybody split. In
- 7:34Speaker 1: the worst moments, it brings everyone together in patriotism. That's
- 7:38Speaker 1: what that was. And that was just 25 years ago.
- 7:41Speaker 1: I will always love Hutton, George W. Bush, for the
- 7:45Speaker 1: immediate response in 9-11. Throwing out the first pitch.
- 7:50Speaker 2: Yeah. The way he handled that. No one knows how
- 7:53Speaker 2: they're going to handle anything in crisis like that. Yeah.
- 7:57Speaker 2: I love the way George W. Bush handled it in
- 7:59Speaker 2: that time. And that was a time where everyone did
- 8:01Speaker 2: come together and put aside politics and everything else. And
- 8:05Speaker 2: you bring up a great point. I mean, Pat Tillman,
- 8:07Speaker 2: you know, we just honored the life of Coach Mack,
- 8:10Speaker 2: who Pat Tillman meant so much to him in the
- 8:13Speaker 2: time that he knew him and coaching him with the
- 8:14Speaker 2: Arizona Cardinals. But that mentality of there is something greater
- 8:20Speaker 2: than me. I'm going to go service that thing that
- 8:23Speaker 2: is greater than me. And I'm going to put aside
- 8:27Speaker 2: whatever's going on in my life right now to go
- 8:29Speaker 2: and defend that. That's lost in so many ways. It's
- 8:33Speaker 2: not lost on me and remembering those who decided to
- 8:36Speaker 2: do that. And I also think about every police officer, firefighter,
- 8:41Speaker 2: emergency personnel that ran into those buildings, that ran into
- 8:45Speaker 2: that section of downtown Manhattan that day. And while everyone
- 8:49Speaker 2: else is running away, while if you were, what we
- 8:52Speaker 2: know about intelligence would tell you, flee, run away from
- 8:56Speaker 2: that rubble, run away from the dust, run away from
- 8:58Speaker 2: the screams. So many people ran towards it. It amazes me.
- 9:05Speaker 2: I am amazed by the fact that someone possesses that
- 9:08Speaker 2: level of courage, that level of humility to run in
- 9:12Speaker 2: and go save people like that. I was talking to
- 9:14Speaker 2: a Nashville police officer recently. recently and he was telling
- 9:18Speaker 2: me about the amount of people who to this day
- 9:22Speaker 2: were there serving when a covenant shooting the school shooting
- 9:26Speaker 2: happened and how mentally they're still not right from a
- 9:30Speaker 2: mental health perspective because that's not something you normally think
- 9:33Speaker 2: about seeing even as a cop when you walk in
- 9:36Speaker 2: and there are young lives like that that have been
- 9:40Speaker 2: that have been massacred um What everyone saw that day,
- 9:45Speaker 2: it's hard to put into words, Huth, when you think
- 9:47Speaker 2: back what that meant and how many people just willingly
- 9:51Speaker 2: ran into danger to try to save lives and then
- 9:54Speaker 2: what ultimately happened. It's a good reminder that we are
- 9:59Speaker 2: at our best when we come together. We are not
- 10:03Speaker 2: at our best when we are fighting each other. We
- 10:05Speaker 2: are not at our best when we're bickering about things
- 10:08Speaker 2: that ultimately may not matter, some things that do matter.
- 10:11Speaker 2: But we are at our best when we come together.
- 10:14Speaker 2: And I think that's what 9-11 taught us. Look, it
- 10:18Speaker 2: was a tragic, terrible day. But when you look back
- 10:20Speaker 2: to the aftermath of that and how everyone was pulling
- 10:23Speaker 2: in the same direction, at least for a while, on
- 10:26Speaker 2: pretty much everything, it really is amazing to think about
- 10:30Speaker 2: where we were, where we are now, where we could go. And, man,
- 10:35Speaker 2: I'm just filled with gratitude towards everyone who has that
- 10:38Speaker 2: level of courage that ran towards those buildings that day. Yes.
- 10:41Speaker 2: God bless America.
- 10:42Speaker 1: And in perspective of everyone pulling in the same direction,
- 10:46Speaker 1: Aaron Bell, Green Beret, signed up with George W. Bush
- 10:51Speaker 1: as president and ends up in a stairwell in a
- 10:54Speaker 1: hotel in Saudi Arabia with President Obama at the time
- 11:00Speaker 1: smoking a cigarette.
- 11:02Speaker 2: It didn't matter.
- 11:03Speaker 1: It was his president and he was serving our country.
- 11:06Speaker 1: That's the perspective I get on days like today. The
- 11:09Speaker 1: guys who signed up when in the moment I'm in
- 11:11Speaker 1: high school terrified that I'm going to go into a draft. Seriously,
- 11:16Speaker 1: that was the perspective of small-town America where a vacation
- 11:21Speaker 1: was going to Dollywood. That's just my personal experience with it.
- 11:27Speaker 1: And not knowing, schools went home that day.
- 11:30Speaker 2: We didn't know. We will never forget.
- 11:36Speaker 1: But what we also can't forget is the patriotism and
- 11:38Speaker 1: the fact that there was truly bipartisan Americans pulling in
- 11:43Speaker 1: the same direction, people that held doors for people. You
- 11:46Speaker 1: didn't have, it didn't matter who you voted for. It
- 11:49Speaker 1: was the country in the moment. That's the perspective that
- 11:54Speaker 1: has been lost over 25.
- 11:56Speaker 2: Years of this. Amen. I totally agree. And let's get
- 12:00Speaker 2: a little bit of that back. Let's also have an appreciation,
- 12:04Speaker 2: you know, for, for sports and what it is we
- 12:06Speaker 2: get to do. I appreciate it every day. We appreciate
- 12:10Speaker 2: our staff that works with us to talk about sports
- 12:13Speaker 2: and these things that we love so much that can
- 12:15Speaker 2: unite people. I'm also watching Netflix last night and that
- 12:20Speaker 2: opened the Friday night lights themed open with Kyle Chandler
- 12:23Speaker 2: voicing over with the high school players coming together and
- 12:26Speaker 2: the clear eyes, full hearts can't lose to some people
- 12:29Speaker 2: that probably meant nothing. if you didn't watch the show.
- 12:32Speaker 2: It got a little misty in the Withrow House when
- 12:34Speaker 2: I watched that, not going to lie. Got some chills
- 12:36Speaker 2: watching all the young players and high school players and
- 12:38Speaker 2: then blending in with the Rams and the 49ers. That
- 12:42Speaker 2: was something else. But that was another reminder of, man,
- 12:46Speaker 2: it's incredible how you can still feel something when you're
- 12:50Speaker 2: watching these games, how you can feel something when you
- 12:53Speaker 2: think back to impactful moments and things like that. I
- 12:56Speaker 2: absolutely loved the open from Netflix last night.
- 12:59Speaker 1: I did too.
- 13:03Speaker 2: I did not love the gloves that were worn by
- 13:06Speaker 2: the pregame show host.
- 13:08Speaker 1: What was the plant that was being held at the
- 13:12Speaker 1: ceremony from the Australian?
- 13:14Speaker 2: Did you see that? I don't know, but I saw
- 13:17Speaker 2: it and I was immediately like.
- 13:20Speaker 2: My first thought was, there is a tweet coming from
- 13:23Speaker 2: Clay Travis in 3, 2, and sure enough, right then, Clay,
- 13:28Speaker 2: they opened an NFL game by giving the land back
- 13:32Speaker 2: to the native people of Australia. I was like, oh yeah,
- 13:36Speaker 2: this is going to set everything ablaze. Yes, with the Aboriginal,
- 13:42Speaker 2: I don't know what that was, the Aboriginal ceremony to open...
- 13:46Speaker 2: The game was something else. Forgive my cynicism here, too,
- 13:49Speaker 2: because I, too, love the open. But leave it to
- 13:52Speaker 2: the NFL.
- 13:54Speaker 1: On Netflix, where they're going into this deal where are
- 13:57Speaker 1: they breaking the law for the broadcast? Where everybody's got
- 14:02Speaker 1: to pay for every subscription. Netflix, who has Friday games
- 14:07Speaker 1: on high school nights. Opening up with the high school open.
- 14:12Speaker 1: All the feels right there.
- 14:14Speaker 2: Well, I also kind of chuckled at the whole thing
- 14:16Speaker 2: with the Kyle Chandler voiceover, which was great, was everyone
- 14:20Speaker 2: will see it. You can see what's happening. Open your eyes.
- 14:24Speaker 2: You can see it. And I'm thinking the argument against
- 14:27Speaker 2: Netflix is not everyone can see it because it's not
- 14:29Speaker 2: broadcast television. And we're doing an opening with everyone can
- 14:33Speaker 2: see it during the game. You just open your eyes.
- 14:36Speaker 2: And you see it, and I'm thinking, man. But again,
- 14:38Speaker 2: I'll give them high marks for production value. The L.
- 14:41Speaker 2: Duncan gloves, I have no idea what's going on. And
- 14:44Speaker 2: then I'm watching the pregame festivities. I'm thinking, it's like
- 14:46Speaker 2: 9 a.m. It's like 9.30 in the morning. They should
- 14:49Speaker 2: have coffee out there in Melbourne getting ready for that game,
- 14:52Speaker 2: which was a 10.35 a.m. local kickoff in Australia.
- 14:58Speaker 1: That market, that entire country, when the UFC goes over
- 15:02Speaker 1: there for pay-per-views, They will start their shows at like
- 15:06Speaker 1: 5 a.m., sold-out arenas, just to make sure it's like...
- 15:10Speaker 1: Because they start at like 5 p.m. something, 7 p.m. No,
- 15:15Speaker 1: like 4 p.m., excuse me, in Vegas. So they get
- 15:19Speaker 1: up for the... It'll be Sunday morning there. It's also
- 15:22Speaker 1: winter there. I'm fascinated by all that.
- 15:26Speaker 2: It did look like winter based on the outfits of people.
- 15:29Speaker 2: There were a couple of light jackets there. Elle Duncan
- 15:32Speaker 2: was showing the gun show off with her black gloves.
- 15:35Speaker 2: I guess her hands were getting cold. But she had
- 15:38Speaker 2: a sleeveless shirt on the whole time. It didn't look
- 15:41Speaker 2: that cold. But it's that time.
- 15:44Speaker 1: The Niners shipped over all of their winter gear.
- 15:46Speaker 2: They didn't know.
- 15:48Speaker 1: I think it was like 50 degrees or something there.
- 15:51Speaker 1: There were no leaves on the trees.
- 15:52Speaker 2: I noticed that. It looked like winter behind them. Yeah.
- 15:56Speaker 2: There was no foliage at all. I also had, let's
- 15:59Speaker 2: put to bed all the talk about bed and sleep. Yes,
- 16:02Speaker 2: it was better to go a week out and completely
- 16:05Speaker 2: acclimate yourself for seven days. Way more expensive to do that.
- 16:09Speaker 2: But then front office sports has the story. And I
- 16:11Speaker 2: think Peter Schrager actually was the one who tweeted it,
- 16:13Speaker 2: that the Rams were sending people to Australia for two
- 16:16Speaker 2: years back and forth to try to study what was
- 16:19Speaker 2: the best route to go and acclimate yourself quickly.
- 16:22Speaker 1: I have theory on this. The Rams were doing that.
- 16:25Speaker 1: But they also bought the rights to that country and
- 16:28Speaker 1: those markets, as the 49ers did, as the Seahawks did.
- 16:30Speaker 1: I bet both of those franchises did as well. What
- 16:35Speaker 1: I'm guessing is they're sending staff over, 15 of them.
- 16:39Speaker 1: The Titans did this for London as well. They're going
- 16:41Speaker 1: to paper and market where they're going to do their rallies,
- 16:47Speaker 1: their pep rallies, or all these things.
- 16:49Speaker 2: And then in the.
- 16:50Speaker 1: Rams idea, they're trying to figure out how they're going
- 16:53Speaker 1: to market and set up shop for merchandise full time.
- 16:56Speaker 1: Because the Titans can't go over there and set up
- 16:58Speaker 1: their shop because the Rams own that market now. My
- 17:03Speaker 1: guess is they're doing this, everybody that's involved with this,
- 17:07Speaker 1: because this is going to be an annual deal in
- 17:09Speaker 1: some way. And I wouldn't put it past the NFL
- 17:14Speaker 1: to have this type of schedule moving forward in perpetuity.
- 17:18Speaker 1: where you have the Wednesday night opener, you have Thursday,
- 17:22Speaker 1: like we just saw, and then you get going and
- 17:25Speaker 1: who knows, maybe we get a Friday, but they've got
- 17:27Speaker 1: to get past that high school thing. But I think
- 17:29Speaker 1: that they, yes, they sent that out. It wasn't just
- 17:32Speaker 1: for the sleep study. They weren't testing sleep apnea over
- 17:36Speaker 1: in Sydney.
- 17:37Speaker 2: Yeah, they were working. I'm with you. It was a
- 17:39Speaker 2: work trip where they put the whoop things on them
- 17:42Speaker 2: and all the body testing, scanning stuff to see how
- 17:45Speaker 2: good of sleep they were getting on a plane. To
- 17:47Speaker 2: see the sleep they were getting there. I know the
- 17:49Speaker 2: Rams also had blackout curtains in the hotel they were in.
- 17:52Speaker 2: They treated it when it was night in L.A. like
- 17:54Speaker 2: it was middle of the day there, but they treated
- 17:56Speaker 2: it like it was nighttime. They were serving them breakfast
- 17:59Speaker 2: at odd times to try to keep them on their
- 18:01Speaker 2: schedule to where to them it would feel like a
- 18:04Speaker 2: five o'clock. kick off Pacific time or 5.30, whenever it was.
- 18:09Speaker 2: But it's impossible.
- 18:11Speaker 1: It's different, I think, if I'm a player or this week,
- 18:15Speaker 1: you have the media asking you questions about it. It's
- 18:17Speaker 1: a constant topic. You have a 17-hour flight. And it's
- 18:22Speaker 1: different if it's a business trip.
- 18:23Speaker 2: You're working for the Rams.
- 18:24Speaker 1: You're just going over there to hang out and grab
- 18:26Speaker 1: a beer and hang out with the Crocodile Dundee while
- 18:29Speaker 1: you try to figure out where you're going to have
- 18:31Speaker 1: your practice facility. Because you know you're going to be
- 18:34Speaker 1: there for a couple days. and you're going to act
- 18:36Speaker 1: like you're on Pacific time.
- 18:38Speaker 2: It's in your head.
- 18:39Speaker 1: I think it would be more difficult to sleep knowing
- 18:41Speaker 1: that we'll have blackout curtains. Instead of like with you
- 18:45Speaker 1: and I, we get to London, we didn't have blackout curtains,
- 18:47Speaker 1: but we wanted to pass out pretty fast. I'm watching it, though,
- 18:50Speaker 1: and I'm thinking, man, they needed a lot more than
- 18:55Speaker 1: 48 hours there. It worked in London, but, man, the
- 18:59Speaker 1: Rams did not look good at all.
- 19:01Speaker 2: And credit the 49ers. I mean, as that game wore on,
- 19:04Speaker 2: They just dominated and just put their foot on the
- 19:06Speaker 2: throat of the Rams in that game. I don't think
- 19:09Speaker 2: it means a thing for the Rams this season. They're
- 19:12Speaker 2: going to come back home and be just fine. I
- 19:13Speaker 2: was in. I was reading all the stories about it.
- 19:18Speaker 2: I was reading the expert opinion of Stanford sleep science
- 19:21Speaker 2: experts about which route was better and about the effects
- 19:25Speaker 2: on the body and how there's no possible way you're
- 19:27Speaker 2: going to get as good a sleep on a plane
- 19:29Speaker 2: as you would in a bed when you try to
- 19:31Speaker 2: do that. Regardless, your physical fitness will be down when
- 19:36Speaker 2: you land somewhere after flying that long. And I do
- 19:40Speaker 2: think back to our trip to London with the Titans
- 19:42Speaker 2: hunting and how I felt landing, how I felt laying
- 19:45Speaker 2: down for 30 minutes and like I was completely dead
- 19:49Speaker 2: when I tried to land. to get myself back up.
- 19:51Speaker 2: All those different factors. It's fascinating. Do we need to
- 19:56Speaker 2: be in Australia? I see the Europe thing. I felt
- 20:01Speaker 2: differently about a game in Australia. They've got Australian rules football.
- 20:06Speaker 2: I didn't feel the urgency there. of a country to
- 20:09Speaker 2: be in. I felt the same way about Brazil. I'm
- 20:11Speaker 2: watching some of these locations and I'm thinking, I just don't,
- 20:15Speaker 2: I get the money-making, the entrepreneurship of the NFL, but
- 20:20Speaker 2: why Australia?
- 20:21Speaker 1: This is my huge topic here, but you know this
- 20:23Speaker 1: is about flag football in the Olympics and the NFL
- 20:26Speaker 1: owning professional leagues and going global for a sport that
- 20:30Speaker 1: is not known worldwide like basketball, baseball, soccer. It's way
- 20:36Speaker 1: easy to teach the game doing flag These franchises have
- 20:39Speaker 1: bought in with the marketing rights, the flag football aspect there.
- 20:42Speaker 1: You can do it with men and women. You can
- 20:44Speaker 1: do it with a young audience. It's relatively injury-free. And
- 20:48Speaker 1: now you get to market your superstars globally, and you
- 20:51Speaker 1: have streaming services paying millions, if not billions, to do it.
- 20:55Speaker 2: That's what it is. And I'm with you.
- 20:58Speaker 1: You know how it's said it's Titans Entertainment, not Titans Football?
- 21:04Speaker 1: The individual franchises don't care about where their home stadium
- 21:08Speaker 1: is right now. They care about the direct flights that
- 21:10Speaker 1: come into their airport. The Titans are connected to Ireland.
- 21:15Speaker 1: Direct flight to Dublin now. Guess where the Titans' rights are?
- 21:18Speaker 2: There.
- 21:18Speaker 1: They're going to play a game there eventually. And that's
- 21:22Speaker 1: what this is about. The whole thing feels.
- 21:26Speaker 2: um, just dirty. Yeah. It feels a little dirty to me.
- 21:29Speaker 2: You mean when Roger Goodell was putting on a kangaroo
- 21:31Speaker 2: coat during the pregame on Netflix, that didn't feel a
- 21:34Speaker 2: little dirty. I feel a little patronizing to the Australian
- 21:37Speaker 2: people and what they were doing when L Duncan put
- 21:39Speaker 2: them on. When L Duncan was, uh, they were doing
- 21:42Speaker 2: like the OJ thing with her gloves at one point too,
- 21:45Speaker 2: about if it doesn't fit, you must've quit. You didn't
- 21:48Speaker 2: feel a little dirty when L Duncan, I got, I
- 21:51Speaker 2: got a rail on L Duncan a little earlier because
- 21:53Speaker 2: she was so bad. Um, In America, okay, Melbourne is Melbourne, Australia. Melbourne, yeah.
- 22:02Speaker 2: It's not Melbourne. You're not Australian. She kept pronouncing it
- 22:05Speaker 2: like the Aussies would pronounce it. You are not Australian.
- 22:09Speaker 2: I cannot stand. Hang on. They had a funny skit
- 22:12Speaker 2: on SNL one time with Ray Romano. Oh, yeah. Where
- 22:14Speaker 2: they're doing the Spanish and they do a very Americanized
- 22:17Speaker 2: version of the pronunciations. I don't speak Spanish. I'm not
- 22:21Speaker 2: even going to attempt to do it. But when people
- 22:24Speaker 2: put that affect... on the name of a place because
- 22:27Speaker 2: they've been there for a week. I can't stand it.
- 22:30Speaker 2: We all had the friend who went to college in
- 22:32Speaker 2: New York city and came back, sounded like she was
- 22:34Speaker 2: from the Bronx or he was from the Bronx after
- 22:37Speaker 2: like one semester of school and completely changed their accent.
- 22:41Speaker 2: That's what I felt like watching L Duncan say, Melbourne,
- 22:44Speaker 2: Melbourne over and over. I'm like, it's Melbourne. It's Melbourne.
- 22:48Speaker 2: That's not Melbourne. Melbourne. Ridiculous. Come on. Although fooling anybody.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Although, if there's a meteorologist in Nashville that says Lebanon.
- 23:05Speaker 2: Instead of Lebanon. We know where they're... Here's what I
- 23:10Speaker 2: would say to that.
- 23:10Speaker 1: Eventually, they're going to say Lebanon on the broadcast locally.
- 23:14Speaker 2: I'll give you the difference, though, of what I'm talking
- 23:16Speaker 2: about here. If Elle Duncan was hired by a Sydney,
- 23:19Speaker 2: Australia TV station, she can say Melbourne all the hell
- 23:23Speaker 2: she wants. She can speak with an Australian accent to
- 23:26Speaker 2: further connect with the people of Australia. She is an
- 23:29Speaker 2: American broadcaster for Netflix USA that is doing an NFL
- 23:34Speaker 2: game over there. You don't need to talk like the natives.
- 23:37Speaker 2: You don't need to talk like the people of Australia. Hutton,
- 23:40Speaker 2: if I'm from Pennsylvania and I'm hired as a Nashville
- 23:44Speaker 2: meteorologist and I'm going to live in Nashville for any
- 23:47Speaker 2: period of time, yeah, it's Lafayette. It's not Lafayette. right
- 23:50Speaker 2: like you it's it's Milan it's not Milan you start
- 23:55Speaker 2: to get the names correct because you were living there
- 23:59Speaker 2: servicing that community what she is doing is broadcasting to
- 24:04Speaker 2: Americans on Netflix for an American sport this is an
- 24:08Speaker 2: American day when the NFL kicks off it is an American.
- 24:12Speaker 1: Deal it's not an Australian thing I get to call
- 24:14Speaker 1: it Greenwich now instead of Greenwich.
- 24:17Speaker 2: Whatever you want. If you live there and that's how
- 24:19Speaker 2: they pronounce it, call it however you want. I've always
- 24:21Speaker 2: wanted to. I mean, goodness gracious. Come on. Come on, Pete. Look,
- 24:25Speaker 2: it is not. You're servicing no one when you do that, Al.
- 24:29Speaker 2: The Australians hate you for doing it, and the Americans
- 24:32Speaker 2: especially hate you for doing it. That was ridiculous. There
- 24:36Speaker 2: lies my overall point.
- 24:38Speaker 1: They are told and they are focusing on that market,
- 24:42Speaker 1: not this one, by saying it the way they said it,
- 24:45Speaker 1: you know? That's just where it's headed. If your teams
- 24:50Speaker 1: are good, you'll have fans in stadiums. But the NFL
- 24:53Speaker 1: is not college football. Don't get it twisted.
- 24:56Speaker 2: I got one more question for you because we're on
- 24:59Speaker 2: a roll here with this podcast last night. How tall
- 25:02Speaker 2: is Noah Eagle when you watch him next to Luke Keekly?
- 25:06Speaker 2: I've been around him. Luke Keekly makes him look like
- 25:11Speaker 2: he's five years old when he stands next to him.
- 25:15Speaker 2: Because I feel like Ian Eagle is not that short. Like,
- 25:17Speaker 2: he's a normal, average-sized guy.
- 25:19Speaker 1: Okay, I would say Ian Eagle's probably the average height
- 25:22Speaker 1: of a male American, which is surprising.
- 25:25Speaker 2: He's 5'9. I would say he's around 5'9. Wow, that
- 25:27Speaker 2: shocks me. I thought he was 5'3. No, no, no,
- 25:30Speaker 2: Ian Eagle. Oh, Ian Eagle, okay. Noah's got to be shorter. Yes.
- 25:36Speaker 1: But, like, how long? So, Keekly, let's find out how
- 25:41Speaker 1: tall he is.
- 25:42Speaker 2: Keekly's 6'4. I can tell you how tall he is.
- 25:44Speaker 2: He's a big guy. But standing next to Noah Eagle,
- 25:48Speaker 2: Noah Eagle just, he looks like one of those guys
- 25:50Speaker 2: who's like when he was born, he was 32 years old.
- 25:53Speaker 2: You know what I mean? Like he's always been an adult.
- 25:56Speaker 2: By the time he was six, he knew exactly what
- 25:58Speaker 2: he was. Ian Eagle's son knew exactly what he was
- 26:00Speaker 2: going to do. He probably wore a suit and tie
- 26:02Speaker 2: to elementary school and started practicing his enunciation of different
- 26:06Speaker 2: names the whole time. Like I feel like he's been
- 26:08Speaker 2: an adult his whole life when you look at him
- 26:11Speaker 2: and hear his voice. But yeah. He looks really small
- 26:14Speaker 2: next to Luke Kuechly. I would ask for a riser.
- 26:16Speaker 1: First off, I would give him props, though, for not
- 26:18Speaker 1: standing on the Apple box and just beating himself. Also,
- 26:22Speaker 1: does this mean I get to call Ian now?
- 26:25Speaker 2: Ian Eagle. I don't know. When in Rome. Noah's six
- 26:32Speaker 2: feet tall? There is no chance that Noah Eagle is
- 26:35Speaker 2: six feet tall. Let's find the picture of the side-by-side
- 26:39Speaker 2: of him and Luke Kuechly. If he is six foot tall,
- 26:41Speaker 2: Luke Kuechly is seven feet tall. And I know that
- 26:44Speaker 2: he's not seven feet tall. He played linebacker in the NFL,
- 26:46Speaker 2: and no seven-footers ever played linebacker in the NFL.
- 26:50Speaker 1: Kuechly's probably, I think you're right, he's probably 6'2 or 6'3.
- 26:53Speaker 1: I think Kuechly's 6'4.
- 26:55Speaker 2: He's tall. He's a taller linebacker. But yeah, he looked
- 26:58Speaker 2: like a giant next to Noah Eagle. Man.
- 27:02Speaker 1: Well, we'll find that, man. We've got a lot to
- 27:04Speaker 1: get to today. We have coming up a discussion on
- 27:10Speaker 1: the SEC and what they meant about what they didn't do.
- 27:14Speaker 1: We have, Chad, your top 10 games of the college

- 27:38Speaker 2: I think Kelly.

- 27:41Speaker 1: be a lot of fun as well as Joe. We

- 28:52Speaker 1: There it is, Chad. Here's Ian with Noah.
- 28:56Speaker 2: I stand corrected. Luke Keekly is, in fact, seven feet tall,
- 28:59Speaker 2: based on what I was saying. Maybe they had Luke
- 29:00Speaker 2: Keekly on an Apple box to look like he was
- 29:02Speaker 2: dwarfing over Noah Eagle the way he was last night.
- 29:05Speaker 2: I mean, I think you could claim if Ian is 5'9,
- 29:09Speaker 2: I think you could claim that Noah, with the hair
- 29:11Speaker 2: poof maybe, can reach six feet tall. I would also say....
- 29:16Speaker 1: There may be a seven-footer taking this photo because of
- 29:19Speaker 1: the angle.
- 29:20Speaker 2: It's angled down. Joel Embiid actually took this photo at
- 29:26Speaker 2: an NBA game?
- 29:28Speaker 1: Or maybe Noah's mother because the mother must be tall.
- 29:33Speaker 1: I've always heard Ian likes him tall. He was always,
- 29:36Speaker 1: I don't know, I'm sure he went to some, probably
- 29:38Speaker 1: Syracuse if I had to guess.
- 29:40Speaker 2: Ian. He was always sniffing around that women's basketball team
- 29:43Speaker 2: at Syracuse. That could be the case that his mom
- 29:45Speaker 2: was a power forward. And that's where Noah got the hype.
- 29:50Speaker 2: I will say both. I don't know Mrs. Eagle. I'm
- 29:52Speaker 2: sure she's a lovely woman. But I'm guessing she might
- 29:55Speaker 2: have a little bit of hype to her.
- 29:56Speaker 1: I will also add in two things. Number one, both
- 30:00Speaker 1: are very, very good at what they do. I have
- 30:03Speaker 1: never met anyone else or heard of anyone else with
- 30:06Speaker 1: the last name Eagle.
- 30:09Speaker 2: Are you saying that he gave himself this name? No,
- 30:12Speaker 2: I'm not saying that. I'm just like, Eagle? It's a
- 30:15Speaker 2: badass name.
- 30:16Speaker 1: I have never met anyone with the last name or
- 30:20Speaker 1: heard of anyone with the last name Eagle.
- 30:22Speaker 2: There's not even a fake character with the last name Eagle.
- 30:26Speaker 2: That's a Hollywood name. That's all I'm saying. Ian Eagle.
- 30:29Speaker 2: You're destined for show business with the last name Eagle.
- 30:33Speaker 2: I mean, they're in the play-by-play business and sports broadcasting,
- 30:36Speaker 2: but it could have been a number of things with
- 30:38Speaker 2: the last name Eagle. At least he didn't go with Eagle-ay,
- 30:40Speaker 2: you know, since it was Ian instead of Ian. Right, yeah.
- 30:43Speaker 2: I'm going to go with my French roots, and we're
- 30:45Speaker 2: going to pronounce this Eagle-ay now, even though it's actually Eagle.
- 30:50Speaker 1: Louisiana with French roots, but we, Chad... We end up having, really,
- 30:57Speaker 1: SEC meets.
- 30:59Speaker 2: And it's a moot.
- 31:00Speaker 1: It's all moot point, Jack, based on the letter from
- 31:04Speaker 1: the AD to the SEC. No sanctions for LSU after
- 31:09Speaker 1: all of this. I still think, Greg's thinking he's pissed.
- 31:16Speaker 1: No sanctions, but I, you know, man, you've poked the bear.
- 31:21Speaker 1: It's like the NCAA with Michigan and the non-cooperation. They're
- 31:27Speaker 1: coming in and acting like they're going to. The SEC
- 31:30Speaker 1: put their foot down, but there's more than that to
- 31:34Speaker 1: this behind the scenes because of all the government getting involved.
- 31:37Speaker 1: You have the Attorney General talking crap. That's not going
- 31:40Speaker 1: away anytime soon.
- 31:43Speaker 2: Well, and leave it to Mike Elko of Texas A &
- 31:45Speaker 2: M who had a great analogy for what's going on.
- 31:48Speaker 2: He said it's basically like dad was out of town
- 31:50Speaker 2: for a little bit, and then you get a little
- 31:52Speaker 2: too big for your britches, and then dad comes home,
- 31:55Speaker 2: and dad finally raises his voice at you, and the
- 31:57Speaker 2: response is, I was just kidding. You're ribbing dad a
- 32:00Speaker 2: little too hard, and dad gets mad, and then the
- 32:02Speaker 2: son says, oh, I was just playing around. I was
- 32:05Speaker 2: just goofing around. I wasn't serious. That was LSU. They
- 32:09Speaker 2: had all these different legal ways to get the players
- 32:13Speaker 2: to play and do all this. And they got senators
- 32:16Speaker 2: and governors that sound like Bobby Boucher that are going
- 32:20Speaker 2: off on the system and the SEC. And they can't
- 32:22Speaker 2: do this to us and all that. And then the
- 32:24Speaker 2: moment it got real, that dad raised his voice, as
- 32:27Speaker 2: Mike Elko so eloquently said. They said, okay, we're just joking.
- 32:32Speaker 2: We're just kidding. Wade Rouse goes on the conference call.
- 32:35Speaker 2: with all the other SEC presidents and says, hey, guys,
- 32:38Speaker 2: I just want to note my presence here at the
- 32:40Speaker 2: meeting today, but under advice of counsel, I can't stay
- 32:44Speaker 2: on the meeting because we're under active lawsuit from the SEC,
- 32:48Speaker 2: so I can't talk anymore. And I'm thinking, boy, this
- 32:50Speaker 2: is convenient also because you are the outsider in here.
- 32:54Speaker 2: You're the one who tried to push the envelope with
- 32:56Speaker 2: the SEC and everyone else. It's ridiculous, and I'm sure
- 32:59Speaker 2: in the state of Louisiana— You know, they're throwing a
- 33:02Speaker 2: Mardi Gras-like celebration right now, acting like they defeated the SEC. Oh, look,
- 33:06Speaker 2: the SEC backed down. There's no sanctions. We won. No,
- 33:09Speaker 2: you didn't get the players that you wanted, and you
- 33:12Speaker 2: look like idiots to the rest of America. You did
- 33:13Speaker 2: not win. Is it Rouse or Ruse? I'm not sure.
- 33:16Speaker 2: Ask Al Duncan. I'm sure Al Duncan knows the exact
- 33:20Speaker 2: pronunciation of his name. Actually, it's Ruse.
- 33:23Speaker 1: You have both he and Fauci pleading the phys-if.
- 33:28Speaker 2: Yes. But it's all said and done. Oh, man.
- 33:33Speaker 1: But here we are with LSU. I mean, despite all
- 33:37Speaker 1: of this backdrop, and I know they're the villain, but
- 33:41Speaker 1: the praise that I continue to see on ESPN of LSU.
- 33:46Speaker 2: And the team, I mean, they're not going anywhere.
- 33:48Speaker 1: And it feels like the same thing we saw with
- 33:51Speaker 1: Michigan and the whole push towards the championship when we
- 33:54Speaker 1: knew everything was.
- 33:54Speaker 2: Going on behind the scenes. It's still.
- 33:58Speaker 1: oh, let's talk football and how great this team is
- 34:00Speaker 1: despite what's going on off the field. I think there
- 34:03Speaker 1: is an attempt to keep it about Saturday, but also
- 34:07Speaker 1: we're not stupid, right? The coverage we're having here and
- 34:11Speaker 1: everywhere isn't about LSU X's and O's at all.
- 34:15Speaker 2: But that's what they're trying to act like. I say they.
- 34:18Speaker 1: The whole marketing push of, man, is LSU the best
- 34:23Speaker 1: team in the country? You have Feinbaum talking about that.
- 34:24Speaker 1: He's being asked the direct question, is LSU a national
- 34:27Speaker 1: title contender?
- 34:28Speaker 2: Yes.
- 34:29Speaker 1: He's saying that before the question can be finished. But
- 34:34Speaker 1: that's the entire segment. It's not what Feinbaum said on
- 34:37Speaker 1: SEC Network anymore. I want more of that. Those are
- 34:42Speaker 1: the sanctions. Those should be the sanctions. not the idea that, man,
- 34:46Speaker 1: this team is great without these players. They are, but
- 34:50Speaker 1: that provides the sentiment that, oh, these NFL scrubs, they
- 34:54Speaker 1: didn't really need them anyway, instead of the SEC said no.
- 34:58Speaker 2: There's a difference there. Well, it's a lack of nuance.
- 35:03Speaker 2: I mean, that's where we are as a society in general,
- 35:06Speaker 2: but it's a total lack of nuance. Both things are true.
- 35:10Speaker 2: I mean, the LSU lost against the SEC. They look
- 35:14Speaker 2: like clowns. They look like their state is governed by clowns.
- 35:18Speaker 2: They look like idiots. The fans who defended it look
- 35:20Speaker 2: like idiots. They look like idiots to everybody outside of that.
- 35:23Speaker 2: And they don't care because they're in their bubble. They're
- 35:25Speaker 2: in their Cajun bubble down in the boot. And that's
- 35:28Speaker 2: all they care about is what their own fans think
- 35:30Speaker 2: about them. So they're fine by being ostracized by the
- 35:33Speaker 2: rest of America. But they do look foolish. Here's the
- 35:36Speaker 2: other thing that's true. LSU has a kick-ass team. Their
- 35:40Speaker 2: roster is stacked. It's a $ 50 million roster. They've got
- 35:43Speaker 2: a great head coach in Lane Kiffin. It's totally valid
- 35:46Speaker 2: to ask the question, are they the best team in America? Oh, yeah.
- 35:48Speaker 2: After one week. They just curb stomped Clemson 51-10. So
- 35:53Speaker 2: I'm fine with talking about that. But when you come
- 35:55Speaker 2: back with, hey, can we talk about football? That's what
- 35:58Speaker 2: I'm saying. Let's just talk about the stuff on the
- 36:00Speaker 2: field now. Hey, let's talk about, oh, nobody cares. That's
- 36:04Speaker 2: a response to me. I'm sure this will be clipped
- 36:06Speaker 2: and some LSU fan will say, move on, dude. Nobody cares.
- 36:09Speaker 2: That is the response of a man who has no response.
- 36:11Speaker 2: When you just say no one cares, you know you've
- 36:14Speaker 2: got no valid response to anything that I'm saying.
- 36:16Speaker 1: But that's been the response from the faces of college
- 36:19Speaker 1: football on ESPN. I think that's my overall emphasis here.
- 36:24Speaker 1: No matter how you feel about any show you watch,
- 36:27Speaker 1: that is the show of authority when it comes to
- 36:29Speaker 1: college football. And I know college game day is about
- 36:33Speaker 1: the game, but they hit the headline. If that were
- 36:36Speaker 1: Brian Kelly, that would be a different vibe with how
- 36:40Speaker 1: they're handling it.
- 36:42Speaker 2: And I get it. Kiffin is beloved because behind.
- 36:45Speaker 1: The scenes, he's entertaining. In front of the camera, he
- 36:48Speaker 1: can be dry and awkward, but he's entertaining. He pokes
- 36:50Speaker 1: the bear. He's on social media. So is Diego Pavia.
- 36:56Speaker 1: That's kind of the– you're following it.
- 36:58Speaker 2: It's entertaining. And on game day, it's about the game.
- 37:00Speaker 2: And that's Lane being Lane. And there's golf balls. Okay.
- 37:05Speaker 1: That halftime speech, Chad, let me give him credit. That
- 37:08Speaker 1: halftime speech was about Ole Miss.
- 37:09Speaker 2: Yes.
- 37:10Speaker 1: About foot, you know, cleat to throat, you know, hobnail boot.
- 37:16Speaker 1: That was about Ole Miss and keeping the pedal down,
- 37:21Speaker 1: about it's us versus the world. And the whole thing
- 37:25Speaker 1: started with that move.
- 37:27Speaker 2: And half that.
- 37:28Speaker 1: Team from there anyway came with him, you know, the
- 37:31Speaker 1: coaches too. I get the sense it was about we're
- 37:34Speaker 1: getting ready for three weeks from now, and I've got
- 37:36Speaker 1: to get this team focused on just drubbing. We could
- 37:38Speaker 1: see that. It's not out of the realm of possibility.
- 37:43Speaker 1: That's when it really gets entertaining. It's laid up by
- 37:46Speaker 1: 17 in the fourth there.
- 37:49Speaker 2: Yeah, look, it is about football more now because this
- 37:52Speaker 2: is a moot issue, as they've said, because they're not
- 37:54Speaker 2: going to do it. But, look, all these things, it's
- 37:57Speaker 2: fine to discuss all these things. Their team is great
- 37:59Speaker 2: without the players.
- 38:00Speaker 1: We'll be great.
- 38:00Speaker 2: And then it's that. But, I mean, the ESPN thing
- 38:03Speaker 2: that you keep bringing up, that to me is Jimmy Sexton-influenced.
- 38:08Speaker 2: As much as it is anything else. And it's just,
- 38:11Speaker 2: you're too close to the forest to see what everyone
- 38:13Speaker 2: else is seeing because they're all close to Lane Kiffin.
- 38:16Speaker 2: You know, they know him very well. You know, I'm
- 38:19Speaker 2: sure that Kirk Herbstreit and Lane Kiffin are on a
- 38:22Speaker 2: text basis with each other, you know, about a lot
- 38:25Speaker 2: of things. We know Saban is. Yeah, and they're represented
- 38:28Speaker 2: by the same person. McAfee is. I just don't give
- 38:31Speaker 2: it much thought when it comes to that because we
- 38:35Speaker 2: talked about Jared Stillman losing his Titans media credential. I
- 38:38Speaker 2: would argue that you could probably do what you do
- 38:41Speaker 2: more effectively not being there. You don't have to be
- 38:44Speaker 2: there to ask those questions. If a team is inept
- 38:47Speaker 2: like the Titans are completely, they're going to give you
- 38:50Speaker 2: plenty of fodder. to criticize him and make fun of them,
- 38:52Speaker 2: which is what he does and does well, right? The
- 38:56Speaker 2: same thing goes for that. We can now watch that
- 38:59Speaker 2: from afar. You don't have to be friends with Lane Kiffin.
- 39:02Speaker 2: It would be far more interesting to me if College
- 39:04Speaker 2: Game Day didn't know Lane Kiffin personally and gave their
- 39:07Speaker 2: actual thoughts about what was going on, but I don't
- 39:09Speaker 2: think we're ever going to get that.
- 39:11Speaker 1: Chad, if you haven't seen the new open for Jarrett
- 39:13Speaker 1: Stillman's show, Stillman & Company, it's epic.
- 39:17Speaker 2: Brand new open.
- 39:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 39:18Speaker 2: Yeah. Banned by the Tennessee Titans. Banned. Oh man. We'll
- 39:24Speaker 2: be banned at some point too, I'm sure. No, we
- 39:26Speaker 2: all will. Everyone is actually, they still know it. Um, coming,
- 39:30Speaker 2: coming up, Aaron Rogers goes nuclear.
- 39:33Speaker 1: And, um, man, I gotta say, I have some respect
- 39:36Speaker 1: for it when it comes to Shailene Woodley. And, and, uh,
- 39:43Speaker 1: my initial reaction to the comment about, uh, the whole
- 39:46Speaker 1: sex thing, I, I, I think you're going to find
- 39:49Speaker 1: hilarious of what I thought he was saying on that
- 39:51Speaker 1: podcast versus what he was actually saying. That's straight ahead
- 39:55Speaker 1: here on Hutton & Withrow. Hutton & Withrow, we are
- 39:58Speaker 1: presented by Hard Rock Bets. They're perfect 10, so is

- 40:23Speaker 2: if you're buying new construction, ask about the builder program,

- 40:53Speaker 2: not a promise to make alone.
- 40:56Speaker 1: So Cam Hayward has a podcast called Not Just Football,
- 40:59Speaker 1: and that's exactly what Aaron Rodgers is. He's in his
- 41:02Speaker 1: final season as he begins the swan song season, the
- 41:05Speaker 1: tour to retirement, and we'll see what the Steelers ended
- 41:08Speaker 1: up doing. But Rodgers will be about ball then. But, man, Chad,
- 41:13Speaker 1: you said during the break he was on one. That's
- 41:14Speaker 1: the best way to describe this. We start with the
- 41:18Speaker 1: ESPN discussion. Here is Rodgers discussing the coverage of ESPN
- 41:25Speaker 1: and Diana Rossini, Mike Vrabel.
- 41:28Speaker 3: And also ESPN is really scared. Why? Because I can
- 41:32Speaker 3: speak up and speak my mind. And that McAfee thing
- 41:34Speaker 3: rattled their feathers. Because I didn't just say that on
- 41:37Speaker 3: McAfee's show, who is, honestly, I love Pat. And he's
- 41:40Speaker 3: done more for that network than any other horrible show
- 41:43Speaker 3: they have on there that they think is, they should
- 41:45Speaker 3: pay those guys doing it. But I also said, you're
- 41:48Speaker 3: a gutless organization because they haven't said anything. They spend
- 41:53Speaker 3: so much time on certain issues, but you won't talk
- 41:56Speaker 3: one second about the Diana Rossini situation. What just happened?
- 42:01Speaker 2: Let's see.
- 42:02Speaker 3: The owner of the Niners solicited a prostitute for $ 140
- 42:06Speaker 3: in Ohio. That literally was the number one topic. When
- 42:11Speaker 3: you click on ESPN.com, they will rotate the eight stories
- 42:14Speaker 3: or whatever they have, but they usually have the one
- 42:16Speaker 3: story that's featured. That was the featured story. So you
- 42:19Speaker 3: bring in how many millions of eyes to that situation?
- 42:22Speaker 3: Why do you want to throw.
- 42:23Speaker 2: Jed York under the bus?
- 42:24Speaker 3: I don't know. But does that have the same effect
- 42:28Speaker 3: as a reporter who has intimate relations with a coach
- 42:36Speaker 3: who has a vote? Poor MVP has a vote for
- 42:38Speaker 3: coach of the year. I don't know if she's on
- 42:40Speaker 3: the Hall of Fame or not, but there's voting stuff.
- 42:43Speaker 3: There was the thing about Morgan Moses going from the
- 42:45Speaker 3: Jets to New England that was posted a day early.
- 42:48Speaker 3: How many other inside stuff was shared? There are a
- 42:50Speaker 3: lot of insiders out there. Do they all have strong integrity?
- 42:56Speaker 3: I don't know. But the fact that ESPN spent zero
- 42:58Speaker 3: time on that story, but Jed York gets popped in
- 43:01Speaker 3: San Fran, it's literally on the top of their role
- 43:04Speaker 3: right now.
- 43:04Speaker 2: That's hypocrisy. Do you have a reason why you think
- 43:06Speaker 2: they didn't cover that story? Yeah. What do you think
- 43:09Speaker 2: it is?
- 43:09Speaker 3: I think there's a lot more to it.
- 43:11Speaker 2: So it's deeper. Like the relationship may have been longer.
- 43:13Speaker 3: The NFL is going to protect the shield. And I,
- 43:16Speaker 3: I respect that, but they're going to do by all
- 43:18Speaker 3: means necessary.
- 43:21Speaker 2: And that's an NFL partner. Now they just bought the
- 43:23Speaker 2: NFL network. So they're, they're, yeah, they're.
- 43:25Speaker 3: Taking the words out. They got to be very, very careful.
- 43:28Speaker 2: Now let's move on to your family. He's contradicting himself though,
- 43:31Speaker 2: because they, the NFL is also Jed York. Yeah, I
- 43:36Speaker 2: love the, now let's move on to your family. I
- 43:40Speaker 2: kind of want to stick around and see what he
- 43:42Speaker 2: had to say about that after that. Yeah, look, he's
- 43:44Speaker 2: the biggest Jed York defender that I've seen in this
- 43:47Speaker 2: whole thing. Saying, why is this guy who got popped
- 43:49Speaker 2: for $ 140 prostitution solicitation being covered more stringently than a
- 43:54Speaker 2: reporter insider having an intimate relationship with a head coach?
- 43:58Speaker 2: And we know why, because it makes ESPN look bad.
- 44:02Speaker 2: because of her time there. Also because I think there
- 44:05Speaker 2: is some NFL stuff with all that. And Hutton, I'll
- 44:08Speaker 2: go back to when it comes to Rossini with everyone,
- 44:11Speaker 2: she's just friends with a lot of people. Just like
- 44:13Speaker 2: ESPN not going hard after Lane Kiffin, I think they're
- 44:17Speaker 2: buddy-buddy personally, the people talking about them on camera with
- 44:21Speaker 2: Lane Kiffin to the point that they're not going to
- 44:23Speaker 2: say much about them. I think Diana Rossini's done a
- 44:25Speaker 2: good job of making a lot of friends across the
- 44:27Speaker 2: league when it comes to reporters. And for that reason,
- 44:31Speaker 2: they're slower to speculate. They're slower to say what they know, obviously.
- 44:35Speaker 2: They're slower to get into that. And I think we
- 44:38Speaker 2: saw that with the story. And Aaron Rodgers kind of
- 44:40Speaker 2: hitting on that as well.
- 44:42Speaker 1: I would say, I fully expect now that Rodgers is
- 44:46Speaker 1: going to be on McAfee next week.
- 44:48Speaker 2: Better be, right? I would also say this. There's, the.
- 44:53Speaker 1: Whole ESPN thing, we've been through that with the war
- 44:56Speaker 1: of McAfee versus the bosses, right? Like, I think some
- 45:00Speaker 1: of the topic will be, is ESPN going to allow
- 45:02Speaker 1: Rodgers on now? And we've already had that discussion. The
- 45:05Speaker 1: answer was yes. McAfee said we won't have him on
- 45:08Speaker 1: and then immediately had him on.
- 45:10Speaker 2: Right.
- 45:10Speaker 1: Like we've been there, done that. Rodgers will be back
- 45:13Speaker 1: on McAfee, I expect. If not, then that's McAfee doing
- 45:17Speaker 1: the opposite of what Rodgers is praising for. But here's
- 45:20Speaker 1: what it is, Chad. It's Robert Kraft. Robert Kraft is
- 45:24Speaker 1: an owner. He's getting jerked off at Orcas of Asia
- 45:27Speaker 1: Day Spa, and we don't hear.
- 45:28Speaker 2: About that anymore. We didn't hear about it then.
- 45:31Speaker 1: The video evidence is destroyed from that case. Robert Kraft
- 45:38Speaker 1: is the lead owner, him and Jerry Jones, of the
- 45:41Speaker 1: broadcast committee, the media rights committee for the NFL. I
- 45:46Speaker 1: don't know why Jed York is the owner no one likes,
- 45:50Speaker 1: but ESPN's allowed to report on that. But it just
- 45:54Speaker 1: so happens that Robert Kraft is the owner of the
- 45:56Speaker 1: New England Patriots with Mike Vrabel, who's involved with Diana Rossini.
- 46:01Speaker 1: You're saying this is a Robert Kraft gift protection thing.
- 46:05Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 46:06Speaker 1: He can keep Netflix and the Tom Brady roast from
- 46:11Speaker 1: making fun of him.
- 46:13Speaker 2: And guess what? Netflix just had a game last night.
- 46:16Speaker 2: Absolutely it's about that. You may be on to something there. Hutton,
- 46:22Speaker 2: by the way, Aaron Rodgers has not appeared on the
- 46:24Speaker 2: Pat McAfee show since early August at training camp when
- 46:27Speaker 2: he said all those things about ESPN being gutless, and
- 46:29Speaker 2: he just went on the rant about, why aren't you
- 46:32Speaker 2: covering Diana Rossini? Why aren't you doing this? And went
- 46:34Speaker 2: on and on.
- 46:35Speaker 1: I think he got banned by ESPN.
- 46:37Speaker 2: He's not weekly anymore, but I'm saying that early August was, what,
- 46:40Speaker 2: five weeks ago? I mean, it's not that long. I
- 46:43Speaker 2: think he got banned. I think when he says they're
- 46:46Speaker 2: a gutless organization and he likes Pat McAfee– I think
- 46:49Speaker 2: ESPN pulled the plug from Pat McAfee on Aaron Rodgers
- 46:53Speaker 2: at that point. I think Rodgers would say that right there.
- 46:56Speaker 2: That's fair.
- 46:57Speaker 1: Real quick, the Shailene Woodley thing. He's getting into his exes.
- 47:04Speaker 1: He's going into Danica Patrick. The shocking details is the headline.
- 47:11Speaker 1: I'm going to read from FoxNews.com. This is just a quote. Again,
- 47:16Speaker 1: this is from the Cam Hayward Not Just Football podcast.
- 47:21Speaker 1: Rogers explained that he didn't ruin the actress's life in 2022. Quote,
- 47:25Speaker 1: I proposed to Shailene, and she said yes. Now, she
- 47:28Speaker 1: maybe felt like she was forced to make a decision.
- 47:30Speaker 2: She could have said no.
- 47:32Speaker 1: A couple days after that, she tells me, before we
- 47:34Speaker 1: get married, I've got to go F this guy. And
- 47:37Speaker 1: I'm like, because her story is that I ruined her
- 47:39Speaker 1: life and got crazy. In actuality, she told me that
- 47:43Speaker 1: she took off the ring by March. When I first
- 47:46Speaker 1: heard this, I thought she said that Rodgers had to
- 47:49Speaker 1: go bang some dude. I was like, what? And that
- 47:52Speaker 1: Rodgers said, no, we're not getting married anymore. That's what
- 47:55Speaker 1: I thought that he was trying to say. Before we
- 47:58Speaker 1: get married, I got to go F this guy. And
- 48:00Speaker 1: Cameron was like, yeah, yeah. That was my first impression.
- 48:04Speaker 2: I thought she was, you're saying, I'm confused the way
- 48:06Speaker 2: you read the quote. I thought you were saying she
- 48:08Speaker 2: said before we get married, I have to go F
- 48:10Speaker 2: this guy.
- 48:11Speaker 1: A couple of days after that, Before we get married,
- 48:14Speaker 1: I got to go F this guy. And I'm like,
- 48:16Speaker 1: that's what he said. But in the story, I hear
- 48:18Speaker 1: that and I'm thinking, Shailene told Rogers that? Like, I'm
- 48:21Speaker 1: thinking that he had to go do this with some,
- 48:24Speaker 1: because we've always heard she was very eclectic.
- 48:27Speaker 2: Can we say it that way? So was he. But
- 48:31Speaker 2: I was like, oh, he said no. Well, well done.
- 48:33Speaker 2: Well done. And also well done to him for not
- 48:36Speaker 2: allowing his fiancée to do that as well. But man,
- 48:42Speaker 2: what a weird relationship that was. There's no chair in
- 48:44Speaker 2: the corner of the room for Aaron Rodgers, is what
- 48:46Speaker 2: we're hearing, if he denied that request. He said a lot.
- 48:50Speaker 2: I mean, he also said, you know, Danica Patrick, basically
- 48:53Speaker 2: the two of them, they get attention when they mention
- 48:55Speaker 2: my name. So they continue to bring up my name.
- 48:58Speaker 2: And he went deep into the whole Danica Patrick thing out.
- 49:01Speaker 2: She retired and she was depressed and she was terrible
- 49:03Speaker 2: to be around. And basically what everyone says about him,
- 49:06Speaker 2: that he's an awful partner and he's psychologically damaging to
- 49:11Speaker 2: be with and all of this. He kind of turned
- 49:13Speaker 2: the tables and said that about Danica Patrick. I don't know.
- 49:17Speaker 2: and I kind of like this new open Aaron Rodgers
- 49:20Speaker 2: just just shooting from the hip letting it rip on
- 49:22Speaker 2: his past on on ESPN on everybody on COVID on
- 49:26Speaker 2: the MAGA movement you know he was like it's all
- 49:29Speaker 2: a psyop uh and he's like and then they had
- 49:31Speaker 2: that bag of bones in office for four years which
- 49:33Speaker 2: was really something else talking about Joe Biden I Man,
- 49:37Speaker 2: this guy just doesn't like anything, I feel like. He
- 49:41Speaker 2: gets really into what he's studying or researching. He's very intelligent.
- 49:46Speaker 2: And I can go along with a lot of what
- 49:48Speaker 2: he's saying. Sometimes he gets a little bit out there
- 49:50Speaker 2: with things he starts talking about. But for the most part,
- 49:53Speaker 2: I'm kind of nodding my head. I'm like, yeah, this
- 49:55Speaker 2: kind of makes sense. Now imagine this.
- 49:57Speaker 1: Two years ago, Rodgers being the nominee for vice president
- 50:00Speaker 1: for RFK Jr.
- 50:02Speaker 2: I know. Again... Getting a little out there. Woo! You know,
- 50:06Speaker 2: at times. No, just the campaign, what he would have said.
- 50:08Speaker 2: While he's playing. While he's playing. Would have been incredible
- 50:13Speaker 2: to watch him suited up against the Cincinnati Bengals on
- 50:15Speaker 2: the weekend and run for office the rest of the time. Now,
- 50:19Speaker 2: we still don't know who he's married to, right? We
- 50:23Speaker 2: know her name. We know her first name. He said
- 50:25Speaker 2: her first name before. Okay. I don't have it in
- 50:27Speaker 2: front of me. Yeah, yeah. We've never seen her. Interesting.
- 50:34Speaker 2: I don't know how that's possible. With TMZ around and
- 50:37Speaker 2: everything else, is she bubble girl? Does she just live
- 50:41Speaker 2: at home and she can't leave the house? I agree, man.
- 50:45Speaker 1: It's impossible in this day and age. Anyway, we have
- 50:50Speaker 1: the top 10 games of the college football weekend coming
- 50:52Speaker 1: up and much more. Plus, Will Stein, props to a
- 50:59Speaker 1: football coach you may not know much about, but you should.
- 51:03Speaker 1: And We have Profit Like It's Hot from Hard Rock Bet.
- 51:07Speaker 1: And a big, big weekend for teams in the Mid-South
- 51:13Speaker 1: and teams across this state.
- 51:15Speaker 2: That's coming up here on Hutton & Withrow.
