Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Well, I'm Mr.
- 0:01Speaker 2: Matt Moore from Mortal Sin Vocals, and here we are.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Look at this, 40 years later, still going.
- 0:08Speaker 3: And still looking good too, mate, may I say.
- 0:12Speaker 1: Bunch of old bastards.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Too easy, man.
- 0:17Speaker 3: Mortal Sin have returned home from a successful European assault,
- 0:21Speaker 3: undertaken a co-headlining tour with thrash legends Flotsam and Jetsam,
- 0:25Speaker 3: starting in Brizzy on September 30th and hitting Adelaide and
- 0:28Speaker 3: Melbourne and finishing in Sydney on October 3rd. You've been busy.
- 0:32Speaker 3: You're late, mate. Are you even going to have time
- 0:33Speaker 3: to unpack from the last trip before you take the
- 0:35Speaker 3: next one?
- 0:36Speaker 1: I'm just leaving the bags packed, mate. Yeah.
- 0:40Speaker 3: Probably be easier.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. No, it's been good, man. We never... When
- 0:45Speaker 1: we started.
- 0:46Speaker 2: talking about, you know, doing something for the 40th anniversary
- 0:50Speaker 2: of Mayhem of Destruction, we were only thinking of doing
- 0:53Speaker 2: Sydney and Melbourne.
- 0:55Speaker 1: And I think we.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Got somewhere between 45 and 50 shows we've done so
- 1:00Speaker 2: far this year.
- 1:01Speaker 1: So it's been fucking crazy, mate. Crazy busy. Fuck, yeah.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Down to a minute.
- 1:07Speaker 3: More to sit and flotsam and jetsam across past internationally
- 1:10Speaker 3: on European festival stages over decades, mate. But what's it
- 1:13Speaker 3: like to finally bring that shared history back to your
- 1:16Speaker 3: home church for Australian fans?
- 1:18Speaker 2: Yeah, well, you know, it started off when Kidding Intent
- 1:23Speaker 2: did a small tour with Flotsam, not last year, I
- 1:28Speaker 2: think the year before. And I said to Chris, mate,
- 1:31Speaker 2: get them to come to Australia.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Get them to come to Australia. Talk to them. See
- 1:35Speaker 1: if they'll come.
- 1:36Speaker 2: And he came back and said, yeah, they'd be keen, man.
- 1:39Speaker 2: So that was the start of it. And it's taken
- 1:42Speaker 2: this long to.
- 1:44Speaker 1: You know, put it in fruition.
- 1:45Speaker 2: And now, yeah, what a tour. This is going to
- 1:49Speaker 2: be really awesome, man. Awesome lineup.
- 1:52Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Even just like four great bands, you know. If anyone's
- 1:59Speaker 2: a Thrash fan and they miss out on this, mate,
- 2:01Speaker 2: they're going to miss out on probably the show of
- 2:02Speaker 2: the year, you know.
- 2:04Speaker 3: I'm actually glad you mentioned that because the next thing
- 2:06Speaker 3: I was going to say, you've thrown down a brilliant
- 2:08Speaker 3: challenge to the community. And by saying if you're a
- 2:10Speaker 3: Thrash fan and you've not come to this show yet,
- 2:13Speaker 3: then are you really a thrash fan?
- 2:14Speaker 1: That's it, yeah.
- 2:15Speaker 3: With a package like this, mate, like, it's damn straight.
- 2:19Speaker 3: If you don't go, you may as well just rip
- 2:21Speaker 3: your medal badge off and stay home forever.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Yeah, hand in your battle vest, mate, and retire.
- 2:27Speaker 3: Because it's Flotsam's first time over here too, isn't it?
- 2:31Speaker 1: I know, I know.
- 2:32Speaker 2: How is it that 40 years have passed and they've
- 2:34Speaker 2: never come to Australia? They said that they've tried to
- 2:37Speaker 2: come a couple of times or, you know, just things
- 2:40Speaker 2: just didn't work out, timings and, Even this one, we
- 2:46Speaker 2: kind of had to wait for the album to come out,
- 2:49Speaker 2: which that was just released last week or whatever. So, yeah,
- 2:54Speaker 2: I think coming over here on the back of an
- 2:56Speaker 2: awesome new album, that's going to be great.
- 3:00Speaker 1: So, yeah, looking forward to it.
- 3:02Speaker 3: I think the other component to that too, bro, is
- 3:03Speaker 3: the fact that you've got some good Aussie, but like
- 3:05Speaker 3: it's a co-headline and show with yourselves. And there's some
- 3:08Speaker 3: good Aussie bands on there as well. Like if people
- 3:10Speaker 3: don't support shows like this, it doesn't give bands incentive
- 3:13Speaker 3: to come over and do it again. So we're missing
- 3:15Speaker 3: out on the music. The local bands are missing out
- 3:16Speaker 3: on the support. So it's, you know, like it's not
- 3:19Speaker 3: just a case of you're missing out on a good show.
- 3:21Speaker 3: You're actually contributing to the sustainability of Australian metal.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Well, look, it's, I mean, we're bringing them ourselves. So
- 3:30Speaker 1: we're like, we're the promoters.
- 3:31Speaker 2: So, Yeah, we honestly, we need everyone to show up
- 3:36Speaker 2: in force because if we do really well and sell
- 3:39Speaker 2: out some of these shows, we'll bring somebody else. You know,
- 3:42Speaker 2: let's bring Forbidden. Let's bring Sacred Reich. Let's bring Metal Church,
- 3:45Speaker 2: you know. So I think it's a good opportunity for all,
- 3:51Speaker 2: you know, the whole of Australian Thrash fans to get
- 3:53Speaker 2: on board and support it and make sure we give
- 3:56Speaker 2: Flotsam and Jetsam a really big welcome. And yeah, as
- 4:00Speaker 2: you say, If it goes really well, mate, a lot
- 4:04Speaker 2: of bands are going to be saying, oh, well, fuck, yeah,
- 4:06Speaker 2: we want to go to Australia too.
- 4:07Speaker 1: So, yeah, that's always been.
- 4:09Speaker 2: The case, though, you know, hasn't it, over the past
- 4:12Speaker 2: 40 years, you know. If we don't support something, then, yeah,
- 4:18Speaker 2: nobody's going to want to come here. So, yeah, let's
- 4:21Speaker 2: do it.
- 4:22Speaker 3: I love the way you've kept it a brutal lineup too,
- 4:24Speaker 3: like yourselves, Flotsam, Hidden Enchant and Live. Too many people
- 4:28Speaker 3: these days are trying to diversify lineups and have something
- 4:31Speaker 3: to suit everybody. But this is just going to be
- 4:33Speaker 3: brutality from the start to finish. And it's fucking good
- 4:36Speaker 3: to see, man.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:38Speaker 2: You got the two new school bands and the two
- 4:40Speaker 2: old school bands. It is diverse, but in thrash, you know.
- 4:46Speaker 2: So I get what you're saying. You know, I don't
- 4:51Speaker 2: like it when.
- 4:52Speaker 1: You know, you want.
- 4:54Speaker 2: To go see a thrash band and then all of
- 4:55Speaker 2: a sudden there's like a metalcore band or there's something
- 4:58Speaker 2: else on it. It's like, I don't want to see
- 5:00Speaker 2: that shit. I don't want to, you know. If I'm
- 5:03Speaker 2: a thrash band, I want to see thrash bands, you know.
- 5:05Speaker 1: So, yeah. Exactly right.
- 5:07Speaker 3: It's good to have people that play the music putting
- 5:09Speaker 3: the shows on because you understand stuff like that.
- 5:11Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Man, nice.
- 5:13Speaker 3: Now, since you have a big live return of Froth
- 5:15Speaker 3: and Fury in January, man, you've added Sydney drummer George...
- 5:19Speaker 3: Delaney Collis to.
- 5:20Speaker 1: The road crew.
- 5:21Speaker 3: So there was this energy locked in with a classic
- 5:23Speaker 3: foundation of the band from before.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Perfect fit, man. Perfect fit. Yeah. When we started looking
- 5:31Speaker 1: for a new drummer.
- 5:33Speaker 2: We knew what we wanted and we knew what we needed.
- 5:37Speaker 2: And George was first choice. And so we were lucky
- 5:41Speaker 2: that he said yes straight away. So, you know, it
- 5:45Speaker 2: took him a little while to learn the songs, you know.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Some people, you know, you listen to Mortal Sin songs
- 5:52Speaker 2: and they all sound really great, but there's a lot
- 5:54Speaker 2: of technical stuff in there as well. So it was
- 5:57Speaker 2: a little bit of a challenge for him to get
- 6:01Speaker 2: the songs down really tight. But once he locked all
- 6:04Speaker 2: that in, man, he's a beast behind the drums and really,
- 6:08Speaker 2: really lifted the band, really given us.
- 6:11Speaker 1: The sound that, you know, the basis for what we need.
- 6:16Speaker 1: And yeah.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Really, really pleased with how it's all turned out.
- 6:21Speaker 3: Well, now, you sort of touched on this a little
- 6:22Speaker 3: bit before, man, but, like, you returned to the stage
- 6:25Speaker 3: after announcing shows for your 40th anniversary of Mayhem Construction
- 6:28Speaker 3: last year, but you initially pitched the anniversary run to
- 6:32Speaker 3: Andy and Nathan, just you wanted to get out of
- 6:34Speaker 3: the house and see a local show. Like, if you
- 6:36Speaker 3: hadn't known that it would have turned into something this big,
- 6:39Speaker 3: would you have said thoughts about suggesting it?
- 6:41Speaker 1: Um, no, not really.
- 6:44Speaker 2: I mean, it's... It was good. It was kind of
- 6:48Speaker 2: validation that, you know, doing this was important to not
- 6:53Speaker 2: only to us, but it was important to Australian fans,
- 6:56Speaker 2: you know. Like we sold out Sydney, we sold out Adelaide,
- 7:00Speaker 2: we sold out Melbourne. That means something, you know. That
- 7:03Speaker 2: obviously means that people wanted to see us again. A
- 7:07Speaker 2: lot of people, you know, we heard so many stories
- 7:10Speaker 2: from people saying, oh, we never thought we'd see you
- 7:13Speaker 2: guys again, you know. And even younger people, 18-year-old saying, oh,
- 7:18Speaker 2: you know, we've heard so much about Mortal Sin, but
- 7:20Speaker 2: to finally get to see you guys on stage is
- 7:23Speaker 2: freaking awesome, you know. So, yeah, the generations are there now,
- 7:28Speaker 2: you know. There's, like, three generations of Australian thrash fans.
- 7:31Speaker 2: So I think the timing was actually really good and, yeah,
- 7:36Speaker 2: the support's been awesome.
- 7:38Speaker 3: How'd you go on that first show back, man? Like,
- 7:40Speaker 3: did it come back to you straight away or did
- 7:42Speaker 3: you have a bit of stage fright? Like, was it... No, we.
- 7:46Speaker 2: We always said, you know, after we got George in,
- 7:51Speaker 2: we said, look, we can't go out and just look
- 7:55Speaker 2: or sound mediocre, you.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Know, because people will just go, yeah, they're all right.
- 8:01Speaker 2: We had to work really hard on everything. You know,
- 8:06Speaker 2: we had to work so hard to get really tight
- 8:11Speaker 2: and go out there. First show back to festival, fuck.
- 8:15Speaker 2: We're going to be thrust straight in front of a
- 8:19Speaker 2: whole bunch of people. We have to be amazing. So
- 8:23Speaker 2: that was the challenge. And we set ourselves to that challenge.
- 8:26Speaker 2: And I think we did, you know, we hit the
- 8:31Speaker 2: nose on the button, you know.
- 8:32Speaker 1: So, yeah, it was good.
- 8:34Speaker 3: It's easy to set those challenges over, but when you
- 8:36Speaker 3: get back on stage after not doing it for so long, like,
- 8:39Speaker 3: how was it for you? Like, did it come back?
- 8:41Speaker 3: They say it's like riding a bike.
- 8:42Speaker 1: Like, is it?
- 8:43Speaker 3: Or did it?
- 8:46Speaker 1: It sort of is.
- 8:47Speaker 2: You've got to have that confidence within yourself. You know,
- 8:54Speaker 2: there may have been one of the other members who
- 8:59Speaker 2: was shitting himself.
- 9:01Speaker 1: But, you know, we're... We're professional musicians, mate. It's a job,
- 9:09Speaker 1: you know.
- 9:09Speaker 2: So, you know, if you're a tradie.
- 9:12Speaker 1: You don't walk onto, you know, a new big job
- 9:16Speaker 1: and go, shit, do I remember how to do this?
- 9:19Speaker 1: You just do, man. It's, you know, it's in your blood.
- 9:23Speaker 1: It's in your heart.
- 9:24Speaker 2: And, yeah, you just go out and do it because
- 9:27Speaker 2: it's what you love, you know. When you love playing
- 9:31Speaker 2: and when you love playing those songs, you know, I
- 9:35Speaker 2: think Mortal Sin has, it's really strange to say this,
- 9:40Speaker 2: but we have a place in a lot of people's hearts.
- 9:45Speaker 2: A lot of thrash fans in Australia, we sit there.
- 9:49Speaker 2: They always talk about, man, I bought your album when
- 9:52Speaker 2: I was 13.
- 9:53Speaker 1: I first heard Mortal Sin back then.
- 9:55Speaker 2: And you know everybody's got a story about Mortal Sin
- 9:58Speaker 2: and man that means so much to us it's something
- 10:04Speaker 2: you cannot explain that feeling of pride when you know
- 10:09Speaker 2: you hear these stories you know and like sometimes you
- 10:12Speaker 2: know the people are a little drunk but you know
- 10:16Speaker 2: you're hearing all these stories and And they're saying it
- 10:20Speaker 2: from their perspective. And sometimes they're the same and sometimes
- 10:25Speaker 2: they're not. They're all different. But it's their story, man,
- 10:28Speaker 2: you know. And it's like we're part of that story.
- 10:31Speaker 2: That's really strange to us, you know. But it's, yeah,
- 10:35Speaker 2: definitely something that you feel a lot of pride of with.
- 10:37Speaker 1: Fuck yeah, bro. Fuck yeah, man.
- 10:39Speaker 3: So the recording for Mohamic Destruction began all the way
- 10:42Speaker 3: back in July 1986, man. When you play those tracks
- 10:45Speaker 3: live today, do they feel like a time capsule or
- 10:47Speaker 3: have they sort of taken on a completely different energy
- 10:50Speaker 3: over the years?
- 10:51Speaker 1: Yeah, some of them have.
- 10:53Speaker 2: Well, they've all got a little bit of different energy,
- 10:56Speaker 2: obviously because they morph or they evolve. But, yeah, it's
- 11:02Speaker 2: a strange kind of feeling that people still talk about
- 11:06Speaker 2: something from 40 years ago, you know.
- 11:08Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:10Speaker 4: It music is that it's it's that kind of thing
- 11:13Speaker 4: like you the only other thing you can kind of
- 11:16Speaker 4: compare is maybe sport you know someone will talk about
- 11:19Speaker 4: oh the 1986 grand final you know they all they
- 11:22Speaker 4: remember those sort of things and and music's yeah it
- 11:27Speaker 4: it touches people in different ways and yeah when you
- 11:32Speaker 4: hear those kind of stories where oh this song got
- 11:34Speaker 4: me through my teenage years or You know, things like
- 11:37Speaker 4: that makes you feel so proud, man.
- 11:40Speaker 2: And it's like it's an honour and a pleasure from
- 11:45Speaker 2: our perspective to be able.
- 11:48Speaker 1: We wrote those songs, you know.
- 11:49Speaker 2: We're now performing all those songs still 40 years later
- 11:55Speaker 2: and still people are going, wow, man, we love this stuff,
- 11:58Speaker 2: you know. When we played in Europe just this month,
- 12:03Speaker 2: People travel from all around the world.
- 12:06Speaker 1: You know, like you hear a different accent. You go, oh,
- 12:09Speaker 1: where are you from? Oh, I come from Colombia to
- 12:11Speaker 1: see you.
- 12:11Speaker 3: It's like, what?
- 12:12Speaker 1: What do you mean? You come from fucking Colombia?
- 12:15Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 12:16Speaker 2: And, you know, someone came over from England to see
- 12:19Speaker 2: us in Berlin and a couple of those German shows.
- 12:21Speaker 1: It's like, because we didn't play in England. He's like, well,
- 12:24Speaker 1: you didn't play in England.
- 12:25Speaker 3: So I'm coming to you, mate.
- 12:26Speaker 1: You know, it's like, oh, fuck.
- 12:29Speaker 3: Thanks, man.
- 12:29Speaker 2: Yeah, so we've got a really, really strong following and
- 12:35Speaker 2: they just love us, man, you know.
- 12:39Speaker 1: I won't say I don't know why, but, you know, it's... Humbling.
- 12:43Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it's definitely humbling, you know, and I mean,
- 12:48Speaker 2: for me, little old me, you know, just this guy
- 12:50Speaker 2: from the western suburbs, you know, like become the singer
- 12:53Speaker 2: of probably, you know, the biggest thrash band in Australia.
- 12:56Speaker 1: It's like, that's a weird feeling too, you know. When
- 13:01Speaker 1: you talk to people about what you do, you know,
- 13:03Speaker 1: you say, oh, you know, I work in this job,
- 13:05Speaker 1: but oh, I play in a band as well. Oh, yeah,
- 13:07Speaker 1: what band? You know, oh, Mortal Sin. They go, oh,
- 13:10Speaker 1: I've heard of Mortal Sin. Yeah, yeah.
- 13:12Speaker 2: So that's, yeah, that's a weird feeling, man. It's a
- 13:16Speaker 2: great feeling, but yeah, strange.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Wear it with pride, brother.
- 13:20Speaker 3: You fucking earned it.
- 13:21Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 13:24Speaker 3: So going back to the album again and relearning some
- 13:27Speaker 3: of the songs that were written so far back, were
- 13:30Speaker 3: there any songs that maybe the first time around you
- 13:32Speaker 3: weren't so impressed with, you know, didn't feel it, but
- 13:35Speaker 3: this time around with the benefit of age, I guess,
- 13:37Speaker 3: and wisdom, like, they mean more to you?
- 13:42Speaker 1: Not really. Not really because, you know, we've always played
- 13:49Speaker 1: those songs. You know, when we decided.
- 13:52Speaker 2: To do the whole album for Keep It True, you know,
- 13:57Speaker 2: learning some of the songs that we hadn't played live
- 14:00Speaker 2: for quite a while, yeah, that was pretty cool because
- 14:06Speaker 2: you get to, you know, you feel a little bit
- 14:10Speaker 2: more respect.
- 14:11Speaker 1: Kind of things. Like, oh, why didn't we play these songs,
- 14:13Speaker 1: you know?
- 14:15Speaker 2: So, but yeah, when you get people like In Europe,
- 14:20Speaker 2: we had a 70-minute set, we had a 60-minute set,
- 14:23Speaker 2: and we had a 45-minute set because we, you know,
- 14:25Speaker 2: playing different shows, you've got different times. And sometimes when
- 14:28Speaker 2: we played the 60-minute set, we might have dropped into
- 14:31Speaker 2: the fire or something like that. And, you know, you
- 14:34Speaker 2: get people saying, oh, you didn't play into the fire, man.
- 14:37Speaker 2: It's like, oh, well, we normally do.
- 14:38Speaker 3: We wanted to.
- 14:40Speaker 1: Yeah, we wanted to.
- 14:41Speaker 2: But, yeah, it's those kind of things that it's really
- 14:46Speaker 2: hard trying to come up with a set list that,
- 14:48Speaker 2: you know, you're that you want to play and that
- 14:51Speaker 2: people want to hear.
- 14:52Speaker 1: So, yeah. Yeah.
- 14:55Speaker 3: Speaking of set lists, I suppose, bro, you're going to
- 14:58Speaker 3: be playing a different one on this Flotsam tour than
- 14:59Speaker 3: what you did on the anniversary tour?
- 15:02Speaker 2: Well, we've got a bit shorter time. We've only got
- 15:04Speaker 2: 55 minutes. So, yeah, we have to cut a couple
- 15:07Speaker 2: of songs from our 70-minute set. So, look, as everybody says, oh,
- 15:14Speaker 2: it doesn't matter what you play, man, we're going to
- 15:15Speaker 2: love it anyway.
- 15:16Speaker 3: So, yeah.
- 15:17Speaker 1: Yeah, it's pretty cool.
- 15:19Speaker 2: I mean, maybe next year we might change it around
- 15:23Speaker 2: a little bit. We might do some different songs. But
- 15:26Speaker 2: for now, we've got this set so tight that we
- 15:29Speaker 2: wouldn't want to change it. You know, we're pretty much
- 15:33Speaker 2: on fire at the moment. So let's just play the
- 15:36Speaker 2: ones we know.
- 15:37Speaker 3: So by virtue of the fact you just said maybe
- 15:39Speaker 3: next year, does that mean that this– this reunion is
- 15:42Speaker 3: going to continue beyond?
- 15:44Speaker 2: Yeah, we've got offers for some festivals for next year,
- 15:47Speaker 2: some really big festivals. So we had a good time.
- 15:52Speaker 2: We didn't kill each other. We enjoyed each other's company.
- 15:56Speaker 2: We looked out for each other.
- 15:57Speaker 1: Yeah, so we'll definitely keep going.
- 16:03Speaker 2: Whether we write new music or not, that's to be discussed,
- 16:07Speaker 2: which it's probably, you know, 95, five percent that we
- 16:11Speaker 2: will um yeah we we've got a we've been so
- 16:16Speaker 2: busy that we haven't really had time to sit down
- 16:19Speaker 2: and talk about what's next so once once we do
- 16:22Speaker 2: these um flotsam and jetsam shows we'll we'll do that
- 16:26Speaker 2: we'll sit down and maybe around christmas time you know
- 16:30Speaker 2: have a bit of a christmas dinner all together and
- 16:33Speaker 2: you know sort of reflect on what we did and
- 16:37Speaker 2: talk about what we can do.
- 16:38Speaker 1: You know. I think we've got a good enough.
- 16:41Speaker 2: Unit now that the.
- 16:45Speaker 1: Tour in Europe this year was kind of like a
- 16:48Speaker 1: bit of a taster.
- 16:49Speaker 2: It was a bit of like, you know, we need
- 16:51Speaker 2: to let people know that we're back again.
- 16:52Speaker 1: It's going to take time.
- 16:55Speaker 2: So next year, you know, maybe getting on some bigger festivals,
- 16:58Speaker 2: hopefully getting back on Wacken, that sort of thing. We'll,
- 17:03Speaker 2: you know, got to keep raising the profile like every band,
- 17:06Speaker 2: you know. Even though we've got a decent profile to
- 17:10Speaker 2: start with, we've got to start again, you know. A
- 17:15Speaker 2: lot of people still don't know that we're back, you know.
- 17:19Speaker 2: I've seen a few forums here and.
- 17:20Speaker 1: There where people still sort of talk in past tense. Oh, yeah,
- 17:25Speaker 1: Mortal Sin, we're really good.
- 17:26Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 17:27Speaker 1: And then someone else might write a comment, oh, they're
- 17:29Speaker 1: back on the road again, bro, you know. Oh, really? Oh, awesome. Yeah, so.
- 17:34Speaker 2: It's still going to be a lot of hard work, but, yeah,
- 17:38Speaker 2: obviously doing this thing with Flotsam and Jetsam, I think,
- 17:41Speaker 2: is going to be really good because, you know, there
- 17:46Speaker 2: might be, even in Australia, there might be sort of
- 17:48Speaker 2: trash fans that are into, you know, a lot of
- 17:50Speaker 2: the international stuff that maybe the young guys haven't heard
- 17:54Speaker 2: Mortal Sin, never seen Mortal Sin, you know.
- 17:57Speaker 1: So we'll see what happens.
- 18:00Speaker 3: I guess as a bandmate, you guys have got a
- 18:02Speaker 3: great legacy in your tour of Miami Destruction now, so
- 18:05Speaker 3: when you're talking about the future and thinking about doing
- 18:08Speaker 3: another album, does the thought process come into it that,
- 18:11Speaker 3: because people are so judgmental these days now, like if
- 18:13Speaker 3: you made another album and put it out, people are
- 18:15Speaker 3: going to be judging you on that now rather than
- 18:18Speaker 3: loving what they know of you from the past and
- 18:20Speaker 3: sticking with that, do you think that makes sense? Does
- 18:22Speaker 3: that come into the equation?
- 18:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:24Speaker 1: Yeah, look, it's the same no matter when you bring
- 18:28Speaker 1: an album out, you know. Yeah. It's the same for
- 18:31Speaker 1: every single band.
- 18:32Speaker 2: You've just got to hope that you write something that
- 18:37Speaker 2: they'll love, you know. And the main part of that
- 18:40Speaker 2: is you write what you love, you know. We've just
- 18:44Speaker 2: got to write a Mortal Sin song and that's pretty
- 18:49Speaker 2: much it, you know, because, I mean, all the songs
- 18:52Speaker 2: that we've written so far are everyone loves so we
- 18:55Speaker 2: just got to keep doing it you know uh which
- 18:59Speaker 2: it's hard you know from from my perspective uh you
- 19:04Speaker 2: know writing the lyrics and stuff like that it's a
- 19:07Speaker 2: huge challenge for me and yeah i i guess a
- 19:11Speaker 2: lot rests on how everyone feels about writing you know
- 19:16Speaker 2: i mean it's been 15 years since we wrote an
- 19:18Speaker 2: album what is it going to be a leap year
- 19:22Speaker 2: apart or is it going to be a closeness to
- 19:24Speaker 2: the last album.
- 19:25Speaker 1: Or is it going to be a mix of everything?
- 19:28Speaker 1: Who knows, man? We just chuck everything into a pot,
- 19:31Speaker 1: mix it up, see what happens. Hell yeah.
- 19:34Speaker 3: We can have some mortal sin stew. Thanks very much
- 19:40Speaker 3: for your time, bro. The tour with the Flotsam and
- 19:42Speaker 3: Jetsam Hidden in chat and live eye kicks off september
- 19:45Speaker 3: 30 where can people get tickets from bro.
- 19:48Speaker 2: Uh from our website mortals in band.com or churches of steel.com
- 19:53Speaker 2: uh and the ticketing places the venues uh just just
- 19:59Speaker 2: search brother search on the net that's what we have
- 20:02Speaker 2: google for
