- 3:37Day 4 Bible in a year. Thank you for joining and to my
- 3:40Facebook friends this is not going to be a daily spam on the
- 3:45Facebook so please don't unfriend me for those who aren't
- 3:49that interested. But it I'm going to post it
- 3:51hopefully if I remember every Sunday as if it's church because
- 3:57many folks don't go to church. Cherie.
- 4:01Hey, God bless you, sister. I haven't seen you in a long
- 4:03time. It's really nice to see you and
- 4:06I hope that you're well. What's going on?
- 4:11It? This is a tough thing about
- 4:13preambles before we start our daily reading on Day 4 of the of
- 4:19the Bible in the year 2026 is that not necessarily a lot is
- 4:24going on in my life on a day-to-day basis to share with
- 4:27you, but that's what I'd like to do that the link is pinned to so
- 4:31we can share together. Yesterday was an experiment and
- 4:37I brought some people in after the reading in hopes that we
- 4:42would be able to talk about just the reading.
- 4:44And it turned out that, you know, it was nice that Bruce and
- 4:47Brandon came in, we were talking about guitars and we were
- 4:51talking about AI and we were talking about everything else
- 4:55except the daily scripture. And I was struggling to try and
- 4:58get us back in. So that is the focus.
- 5:02We can have chats later on, but I I want to focus on the word.
- 5:07And again, I have in the description, you can see the
- 5:11Bible in a year that I'm using, which is by Nikki Gumbel and,
- 5:14and Pippa, his wife, they, Nikki's Anglican pastor was, I
- 5:20think he might be retired. This might be his whole thing
- 5:23that he's doing right now. I'm not sure, probably 1 of many
- 5:26things. But we used Nikki's Bible in the
- 5:29year in 2023 and it was very effective, learned a lot.
- 5:35It was good. He has an app that you can find
- 5:38at the link down below if you want to do that on your cell
- 5:40phone. But the idea and concept is for
- 5:43people to read ahead. Look to the next day.
- 5:48Be prepared in your own favorite version.
- 5:52This year in 2023 I mixed at the beginning NIV and KJV and then
- 6:01ended up just going exclusively NIV 'cause I was really just
- 6:04doing KJV to throw a bone to my KJV only friends and my friends
- 6:10that think the NIV is from Satan, which I don't.
- 6:14I came to faith with the NIV. The NIV preaches Jesus manifest
- 6:21in the flesh, God manifest in the flesh as Jesus, Emmanuel,
- 6:24God with us, His death, burial and resurrection and everything
- 6:28a growing boy and growing girl spiritually need in order to
- 6:33have right relationship with God.
- 6:35That's a basic gospel and the gospel is preached here, the
- 6:38Christian gospel, which is that Jesus is the way, the truth and
- 6:42the life. No one comes to the Father
- 6:44except through him. And how we do it through him is
- 6:46to accept the free gift offered by him through his shed blood on
- 6:51the cross. But most importantly, because
- 6:53our faith would be futile without it.
- 6:56The resurrection, hard to believe.
- 6:58It's crazy. It's a little bit crazy.
- 7:01And if you talk to Rob Reed 25 years ago now, let's say 21
- 7:10years ago at this time, yeah, I would.
- 7:13I would agree it's nuts. But we will read today, starting
- 7:19in Proverbs. I'm looking at it right now.
- 7:21A wise man will hear an increased learning, and a man of
- 7:25understanding will attain wise counsel and #7 one verse 7,
- 7:31Proverbs one verse 7. The fear of the Lord is the
- 7:34beginning of knowledge. But fools despise wisdom and
- 7:37instruction. Fools.
- 7:42Did you call me a fool, Rob? Yeah, even the Bible does.
- 7:45If if you say that there's no God, that's somewhere else we're
- 7:49going to read when we're in the Psalms.
- 7:51I didn't write it. And you know, it's, it's a
- 7:55little harsh for sure, but I bet contextually, 2000 years ago it
- 8:00wouldn't have been so bad. But there's we live in a world
- 8:08that is filled with problems and issues.
- 8:15And at this time, wow, who knows what's going on?
- 8:19And I'm not going to get political, but it's there's some
- 8:22things that are happening that we're just in America in
- 8:25particular, we're just like, let's go buy our daily life.
- 8:32We could be on the precipice of, as scripture says, there's
- 8:37rumors of wars and all these. I mean, we could be on the
- 8:41precipice of something really big.
- 8:42But we're who knows what tomorrow will bring.
- 8:47So for me, you know, this is the church day.
- 8:50This is the, the day most common where people go to church.
- 8:53It's church Sunday. So I, I will post this on my
- 8:56Facebook every Sunday. And but it is happening.
- 8:59Just know it's happening every day.
- 9:01And if you're curious, if you're a non believer, you, you are
- 9:06curious, you're seeking, you've always wanted to read the Bible
- 9:09in full but never thought you'd get a chance.
- 9:13Now's the time and you could catch up, use the app, go back
- 9:17to my site 'cause it's on my YouTube channel, which is
- 9:20basically youtube.com/rob Reed Music or Rob Reed Esquire
- 9:26together. I think we'll get you there.
- 9:29And the plan is I, I was able to already do it.
- 9:32So I can look upon it already having been done once before in
- 9:352023, that hopefully I'll have the steadfastness, the
- 9:41perseverance to do it once more. And to also introduce to you as
- 9:45I go along, 'cause this is the way God is bringing me back to
- 9:50His word on a daily basis and, and to likely produce music this
- 9:56year in His name. And there's a lot of good stuff
- 9:59happening there's. I'm been working on music too
- 10:04for His glory and and I hope to get a whole bunch of songs out
- 10:10this year that with the help of things that I've never used
- 10:15before, like AI, as we've talked before, I'm finding that it
- 10:19isn't a very great tool to assist with melody, to assist
- 10:25with concept. So it'll be a fun year, I'm
- 10:31sure. I see.
- 10:35I see you, Brett. And, and maybe if, if you want,
- 10:38I'll bring you up. Brett, how you doing man?
- 10:41I'm doing all right, sorry I had to pop out last time.
- 10:44Unfortunately my wife told me we had an emergency.
- 10:47We're good now though. OK, good.
- 10:50I, I don't like to hear emergencies, but I'm glad that
- 10:52you're doing all right. Cherry, Jake is an Amen.
- 10:54Are you interested at all? Because Brett, I actually expect
- 10:58that you would actually stay on topic.
- 11:00I trust that I know that. Would you be interested in
- 11:02reading along with me today? Well, I'd be more than happy to
- 11:07listen to you, Reid. You've got a great voice.
- 11:09Oh, you're kind because we're but I think you you have a great
- 11:12voice too. Probably better than mine.
- 11:16Oh, you're giving me too much love in there, Rob.
- 11:19Well, do you want to join me with the discussion when after
- 11:22I'm finished with the reading? Would that be OK?
- 11:24I'd be more than happy to. I got to warn you though, I am.
- 11:28I've got a little bit of a earache in my left ear and all
- 11:31that, so it's kind of a little bit of pain there.
- 11:34As long as it's not too drawn out, I'll be all right.
- 11:38All right, well, I mean, you can leave at any time.
- 11:40So what what I'll do is I'm going to put you backstage.
- 11:42We're about to talk about, I'm going to read the scripture for
- 11:46today, which shouldn't take longer than it usually takes,
- 11:48about 15 minutes. And then let's try and focus.
- 11:52You'll join in and I'll bring you up after a song interlude
- 11:55for people to get their coffees, their refills, whatever.
- 11:58And then we'll just talk about hopefully focused on the word
- 12:02here and with grace, even in disagreement, if we happen to
- 12:07have disagreement, we will, we will share and sharpen iron,
- 12:11hopefully together. Is that OK?
- 12:13Well, I I hope you realize that although I have my views about
- 12:17different things, I'm not as possessive some of the other
- 12:21users you've dealt with. I'm a live let die kind of guy.
- 12:25Yeah, well, I, I actually, I've known of you for a long time.
- 12:30For people who don't 'cause this is on my Facebook page too.
- 12:35Brett was a, an atheist and a a die hard, I would say an anti
- 12:40theist when I first came on to YouTube as a new believer.
- 12:45But you were, I learned a lot from you, particularly from the
- 12:51perspective, the atheist perspective, to try and listen
- 12:56and to understand that perspective and not be angry and
- 13:02hateful towards a person just 'cause you happen to disagree
- 13:05with me. And then it turned out, and I
- 13:07don't know where you stand right now, but it turned out that you,
- 13:11you became a believer and are are you still you consider
- 13:15yourself still there? Are you, are you in doubt or
- 13:17where are you right now in your walk so people know?
- 13:21I believe, however, I do have some different philosophical
- 13:25positions that some other Christians may not agree with.
- 13:28If you want me to throw them out real fast for you, I could.
- 13:32Yeah, I'm just happy that you could confess with your mouth
- 13:34that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that he was raised
- 13:37from the dead on the third day for the forgiveness of sins.
- 13:39Can you say that? Yes, I believe that Jesus Christ
- 13:43died for the world sins and resurrected 3 days later and
- 13:47ascended to his Father. That's a great confession from
- 13:50someone who was an anti theist circa 2007 who I was first
- 13:55introduced to, so praise God for that.
- 13:58So let's well, what are some of the issues that you disagree
- 14:02with which might be interesting for people to hear me?
- 14:05It's not really that. It's not really a matter of
- 14:08disagreement, it's just a matter of where I find myself
- 14:13philosophically. Like, some Christians might find
- 14:16it odd that I see myself as a Christian, but I also share a
- 14:20lot of the definition of pantheism.
- 14:22I believe that God not only exists outside the universe, but
- 14:26is an extension of the universe, His very energy and essences all
- 14:31around us, and I believe the Bible actually backs it up.
- 14:35I'm also what is referred to as a compatiblist and
- 14:38annihilationist. OK, well I know, I know.
- 14:42Annihilationist compatiblist. What does that mean?
- 14:46It means that I believe that God determines certain things to be
- 14:50predestined, but yet He left the framework for free will for man
- 14:54to have choice. I believe in free will for
- 14:58choice. I I believe I that is seems to
- 15:01be a a requirement of a loving relationship.
- 15:06I would say that it would be 1 of reciprocity, right?
- 15:12Right. And I, I believe that God did
- 15:15have certain things set in stone that he wanted, that we're not
- 15:18going to change. But whenever it came to human
- 15:21choice, we have it. I think in a way, if you think
- 15:24about it, Rob, I've listened to you, I think that in a lot of
- 15:28ways you may go towards compatibilism as well.
- 15:32Most Christians that I've listened to, even, you know,
- 15:36some of the ones who are back and forth with each other, they
- 15:40don't seem to agree with the annihilation.
- 15:42They seem to like the Dante's Inferno version of hell.
- 15:46Yeah, I don't know why anyone would celebrate that.
- 15:49That's when I hear somebody professing Jesus and they're,
- 15:53they're relishing and smiling at the fact that people would be
- 15:56roasting in a fiery furnace forever, that somehow that that
- 16:01is satisfactory or feels good. Yeah, I, I think most of us have
- 16:07ever. I think that's sort of a
- 16:09psychopathic personality, personally.
- 16:11If it's, if it's the truth, I mean, we God will do and we
- 16:15probably will agree on this. Whatever ends up happening in
- 16:18the end, it's for God's good purposes.
- 16:22And he has this plan that it's set in motion.
- 16:26It's that the whole Bible is this love story between God and
- 16:29his creation. But it'll all work out in the
- 16:32end, and if God is all good and perfect, then we have no choice
- 16:40to just accept that to some level.
- 16:43I it's hard and I know that you were once a Mal theist as it's
- 16:46called. I hate labels, that's why I
- 16:48don't pay attention to definitions.
- 16:50And annihilationism is easy because, you know, it's just
- 16:54that if for people who don't know, it's, I've heard it many
- 16:57times, it's the idea that you when when you die, if you're not
- 17:00in Christ, then you're just sort of cease existence.
- 17:03So what do you think about those thoughts?
- 17:06Yeah, I, I did the mouth theism thing for a little bit, but it
- 17:10took some Christians to help me through that.
- 17:13I did a lot of private discussions.
- 17:15Not everything is live and broadcasted for me.
- 17:18The reason why I thought that is I was having a difficult time
- 17:22with one of the most age-old arguments of the the problem of
- 17:26evil, and I didn't know how to get around that, especially
- 17:29whenever I was debating atheist. How could I get around that?
- 17:33Whenever you see biblically that destructive horrible things do
- 17:38happen at the same time good. But then I finally got to the
- 17:42point where I was realizing that even through evil and bad, God
- 17:46has the power to come out good with a moral lesson and a way to
- 17:50to teach us. And that was very challenging
- 17:53for me to deal with. I got.
- 17:55How do I say I overthought it? Yeah, it works.
- 17:59But life, life without the idea of God behind everything the the
- 18:04atheist has to come to the same conclusion that we should even
- 18:10as Christians that the source of evil.
- 18:13And this is for someone who believes no God, the source of
- 18:15evil is clearly us and it's the free will that you talk about
- 18:21for an atheist, they say, well, there's no God or they lack of
- 18:24belief, whatever they want to say, but they it's this precept
- 18:27that there is no higher power because there's no proof of it.
- 18:30So therefore there is evil in the world.
- 18:32We, we each recognize that atheist and and theist alike.
- 18:37So for for an atheist, they have to come to the conclude well,
- 18:40the source of evil, there is no God source of evil is US as
- 18:44there's why, why are they starving children?
- 18:46Because we allow it to happen because they're governments that
- 18:49allow it to have all this evil in the world.
- 18:51So when we come to that conclusion, then the only thing
- 18:53that could be said, well, if there is a God, then how could
- 18:55he possibly allow all this to happen?
- 18:58And back to one of my favorite Christian theologians, Alvin
- 19:02Plantiga, is we have to think about it.
- 19:05If God created a system of free will to freely choose him,
- 19:08because a relationship founded in mutual respect is 1 where
- 19:18there's reciprocity, as we say, where one can agree.
- 19:22You don't bat somebody over the head and say you will love me
- 19:25and then drag them along with you.
- 19:27And So what do you think about that thought?
- 19:32I actually think that, and I know this is going to come off
- 19:35strains of people, but one of the reasons why I started being
- 19:39very open minded towards God is one day I got into just a chill
- 19:44out discussion with a few older Christians.
- 19:47I mean, like older men, older women and all that up in their
- 19:50like 60s and 70s. And this Christian said, you
- 19:55know, I've watched your videos and you've got a lot of good
- 19:58stuff. It's clear you got a good heart,
- 19:59Brett, and you got a lot of valid questions.
- 20:03But do you believe in objective evil?
- 20:05And I said I do and I. I had not really thought this
- 20:09completely through obviously at this point.
- 20:12And he goes, well, if you believe in objective good,
- 20:14doesn't that also mean there's objective good?
- 20:17An objective means that something exists whether you
- 20:20have an opinion or not, it's a reality.
- 20:23And how can you have objective evil and objective good if there
- 20:26isn't a higher power behind it? So I was kind of stunned.
- 20:30And I, I thought about that and pondered that many nights and I
- 20:34was like, the dude's right. There's too much order, There's
- 20:37too many things going on. And everything seems to have a
- 20:40reason or purpose for it. And it started taking me down
- 20:45the avenue. The only problem I had at that
- 20:47point was who was I going to blame for being God at this
- 20:51point? OK.
- 20:53Yeah, I hear you. And you, you segue us nicely
- 20:57into our reading for today because you talked about talking
- 21:00to people who are older, presumably wiser.
- 21:03And our reading today starts with Proverbs one where it's a
- 21:09it's Solomon, the son of David, king of Israel, giving wisdom
- 21:14and instruction older man to his progeny, his kids.
- 21:17So why don't we? I'm going to use that as a nice
- 21:20Segway to lead us into the reading.
- 21:21And then if you want to stick around, I'd love for you to do
- 21:24so. Let's try and you're 1.
- 21:26I think that I could actually trust with this.
- 21:28Not that I it's not a shide on anyone that I talked to
- 21:31yesterday. I love you guys.
- 21:33It is, but I want to stay on topic.
- 21:35Maybe Brett, if you have the ability to, if you have a
- 21:39notepad next to you or something, just write some notes
- 21:42down and maybe we can talk about what we read today.
- 21:44We'll see what God has in store that.
- 21:46OK, Well. Rob, you're, you're a good
- 21:48speaker and all that. You've always been quite
- 21:50articulate. I don't think I'll need a
- 21:52notebook. You've always made things clear.
- 21:55You're actually a pretty good teacher.
- 21:56Rob Well, I appreciate you saying, but I, I mean, you know,
- 22:00for your own thoughts, because I, I want to sharpen iron.
- 22:02I, I don't want to be just an orator, a teacher because I
- 22:05don't, there's a lot that I don't know.
- 22:07And like I said, I make it my mission to try and stay away
- 22:12from isms and all these things because I think it leads us to a
- 22:16tendency to pay more attention to our head knowledge and our
- 22:21book knowledge rather than just letting God speak and see,
- 22:26trying to reason through what he says and figure it all out
- 22:29because it is a great mystery. There are things that don't
- 22:32tickle our ears. That's why you had problems with
- 22:35the issues of evil as I do as well.
- 22:38Why does God allow it? And we can find some answers,
- 22:42some solace in here. And also see a lot of the solace
- 22:46I get, although we're not reading the Psalm today,
- 22:48particularly through David, is that he went through the same
- 22:51struggles and he wanted a holy hit man in the sky for the
- 22:57things that happened that are bad that God clearly in the New
- 23:01Testament reveals. That's not what we are called to
- 23:04do. We actually called to love our
- 23:06enemies, bless our enemies and that that hurts.
- 23:10So there's a lot of things that are complete mystery to me and
- 23:15all I can try and do is reason through.
- 23:17And I always appreciate doing that through other people that
- 23:19are, are I, I believe are very intelligent and can reason
- 23:25through stuff. And I'm happy to have you here,
- 23:27Brett. So if it's OK, I'll, I'll put
- 23:29you in the back. We're going to start the reading
- 23:31and then I'll do a, a song probably to get us through for
- 23:36people to refill their cups and to go through their notes or
- 23:40maybe continue to read in their own favorite version.
- 23:43And then we'll talk about it when when I'm done.
- 23:45Is that OK? Sounds like a plan.
- 23:48Well, I'll be listening. Thanks for being here, Brett.
- 23:50Appreciate it. Bye.
- 23:52All right. So Brett.
- 23:54So yeah, Brett's story is a really interesting story for me.
- 23:57And as I said, he was the first atheist anti theist at the time
- 24:04when I was a new Christian that I, I suddenly had rather than an
- 24:09echo chamber at the church that I was at, I, I finally found
- 24:13somebody who was able to articulate good arguments.
- 24:16I felt that they were good reasoned some I maybe now that
- 24:21I'm a little older, maybe, you know, there was some
- 24:24fallaciousness, but we all are fallacious.
- 24:27And in our argumentation, the best place for us to be is to
- 24:32rather than argue is just to read and use scripture as a
- 24:38well, it says as a sword, but I think just as a, a place for us
- 24:42to try and find answers and to share it with others.
- 24:45And when there's pushback, and it's the kind of pushback that
- 24:49makes us uncomfortable, that's not what God calls for us.
- 24:52It's it's we look for people of peace, people of peace, even in
- 24:56disagreement. And I thank you, Jesus for that
- 24:59instruction. I thank you God for your word.
- 25:02I thank you for the, the blessings of the messages that
- 25:07we're going to receive today. I thank you for Brett, who's
- 25:11going to join me today too, and hopefully others to kind of
- 25:15parse through your word, help us to say things that are going to
- 25:20be edifying and not condemning in Jesus name, Amen.
- 25:28And again, it was early when I started and so I'm not
- 25:33completely awake. So you'll bear with me for
- 25:36setting the stage. And hopefully the background
- 25:41music won't be too bad and I won't be going in and out
- 25:43because this time I did turn on like an AI noise filtering.
- 25:47And I wonder if that has something that creates problems
- 25:50with the background music and me talking.
- 25:52So if I get choppy, let me know and then I'll take the AI filter
- 25:56out. I'll try and monitor the
- 25:58comments as I'm reading. So let's begin of Solomon, the
- 26:10son of David, king of Israel to know wisdom.
- 26:18Sorry to know wisdom and instruction.
- 26:23To perceive the words of understanding.
- 26:28To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, judgment, and
- 26:36equity. To give prudence to the simple,
- 26:45To the young man knowledge and discretion.
- 26:49A wise man will hear and increase learning, and a man of
- 26:58understanding will attain wise counsel.
- 27:02To understand a proverb and an enigma.
- 27:04The words of the wise and their riddles.
- 27:08The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but
- 27:11fools despise wisdom and instruction.
- 27:19Then Jesus was lit up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be
- 27:23tempted by the devil, and when he had fasted 40 days and 40
- 27:28nights afterward, he was hungry. Now when the tempter came to
- 27:33him, he said, If you are the Son of God, command that these
- 27:39stones become bread. He answered and said, It is
- 27:43written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word
- 27:48that proceeds from the mouth of God.
- 27:51Then the devil took him up into the holy city, set him on the
- 27:54pinnacle of the temple, and said to him, If you are the Son of
- 27:59God, throw yourself down, for it is written, He shall give his
- 28:06angels charge over you. And in their hands they shall
- 28:10bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone.
- 28:16And Jesus said to him, It is written again, You shall not
- 28:18tempt the Lord your God Again the devil took him up on an
- 28:23exceedingly high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of
- 28:26the world and their glory. And he said to him, All these
- 28:31things I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me.
- 28:37And then Jesus said to him, Away with you, Satan, for it is
- 28:42written, You shall worship the Lord your God, and him only you
- 28:46shall serve. Then the devil left him, and
- 28:53behold, angels came and ministered to him.
- 28:58Now when Jesus heard that John had been put in prison, he
- 29:01departed to Galilee, and leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in
- 29:05Capernaum, which is by the sea in the regions of Zebulun and
- 29:09Naftali. That it might be fulfilled which
- 29:12was spoken by Isaiah, the prophet sang the land of Zebulun
- 29:17and the land of Naftali by the way of the sea beyond the
- 29:20Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles. The people who sat in darkness
- 29:27have seen a great light, and upon those who sat in the region
- 29:32and shadow of death light has dawned.
- 29:37From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, repent, for
- 29:46the Kingdom of heaven is at hand.
- 29:49And Jesus walking by the Sea of Galilee saw two brothers, Simon
- 29:53called Peter and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the
- 29:58sea, for they were fishermen. And then he said to them, Follow
- 30:02me, and I will make you fishers of men.
- 30:09They immediately left their Nets and followed him.
- 30:14Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James the son of
- 30:17Zebedee, and John his brother, and the boat was Zebedee, their
- 30:21father. Mending their Nets he called
- 30:24them, and immediately they left the boat and their father and
- 30:33followed him. Then the Lord said to Noah, Come
- 30:39into the ark you and all your household, because I have seen
- 30:42that you are righteous before me in this generation.
- 30:47You shall take with you 7 of each clean of every clean
- 30:50animal, 7 each of every clean animal, a male and his female, 2
- 30:55each of animals that are unclean, a male and his female,
- 30:59also seven each of birds of the air, male and female, to keep
- 31:04the species alive on the face of all the earth.
- 31:10For after 7 more days I will cause it to rain on the earth 40
- 31:13days and 40 nights, and I will destroy from the face of the
- 31:16earth all living things that I have made.
- 31:20And Noah did according to all that the Lord commanded him.
- 31:24Noah was 600 years old when the floodwaters were on the earth.
- 31:29So Noah with his sons, his wife, and his sons wives, went into
- 31:32the ark because of the waters of the flood, of clean animals, of
- 31:37animals that are unclean, of birds, and of everything that
- 31:39creeps on the earth. 2 By 2 they went into the ark to Noah, male
- 31:47and female, as God had commanded Noah.
- 31:50And it came to pass after seven days that the waters of the
- 31:53flood were on the earth in the 6th 100th year of Noah's life,
- 31:58in the second month, the 17th day of the month.
- 32:01On that day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up,
- 32:04and the windows of heavens, the windows of heaven, were opened,
- 32:09and the rain was on the earth. 40 days and 40 nights.
- 32:13On the very same day Noah and Noah's sons, Shem, Ham, and
- 32:17Japheth, and Noah's wife, and the three wives of his son, with
- 32:21sons with them, entered the ark. They and every beast after its
- 32:25kind, all cattle after their kind, every creeping thing that
- 32:31creeps on the earth after its kind, and every bird after its
- 32:34kind, every bird of every sort. And they went into the ark to
- 32:38Noah, two by two of all flesh, and which is the breath of life.
- 32:47So those that entered, male and female, of all flesh, went in as
- 32:51God had commanded him. And the Lord shut him in.
- 32:54Now the flood was on the earth 40 days.
- 32:57The waters increased and lifted up the ark, and it rose high
- 33:00above the earth. The waters prevailed and greatly
- 33:03increased on the earth. And the ark moved about on the
- 33:06surface of the waters. And the waters prevailed
- 33:10exceedingly on the earth, and all the high hills under the
- 33:13whole heaven were covered. The waters prevailed 15 cubits
- 33:18upward, and the mountains were covered, and all flesh died that
- 33:24moved on the earth, Birds and cattle and beasts of every
- 33:30creeping thing that creeps on the earth, and every man, all in
- 33:34whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life, all that was
- 33:42on the dry land died. So he destroyed all living
- 33:46things which are on the face of the ground, both man and cattle,
- 33:49creeping thing and bird of the air.
- 33:52They were destroyed from the earth.
- 33:54Only Noah and those who were with him in the ark remained
- 33:58alive, and the waters prevailed on the earth 150 days.
- 34:04Then God remembered Noah and every living thing and all the
- 34:07animals that were with him in the ark, and God made a wind to
- 34:11Passover. The earth and the waters
- 34:13subsided. The fountains of the deep and
- 34:16the windows of heaven were also stopped, and the rain from
- 34:20heaven was restrained, and the waters receded continually from
- 34:24the earth. At the end of the 150 days, the
- 34:28waters decreased. Then the ark rested in the
- 34:31seventh month, the 17th day of the month, on the mountains of
- 34:35Ararat, and the waters decreased continually until the 10th
- 34:39month. In the 10th month, on the first
- 34:42day of the month, the tops of the mountains were seen.
- 34:45So it came to pass at the end of 40 days that Noah opened the
- 34:48window of the ark which he had made, and then he sent out a
- 34:52Raven, which kept going to and fro until the waters had dried
- 34:56up from the earth. He also sent out from himself a
- 34:59dove to see if the waters had receded from the face of the
- 35:05ground. But the dove found no resting
- 35:09place for the sole of her foot, and she returned into the ark to
- 35:13him. For the waters are on the face
- 35:16of the whole earth. So he put out his hand and took
- 35:18her, and drew her into the ark to himself.
- 35:21And he waited yet another seven days, and again he sent the dove
- 35:24out from the ark. Then the dove came to him in the
- 35:27evening, and behold, A freshly plucked olive leaf was in her
- 35:31mouth, and no one knew that the waters had receded from the
- 35:36earth. So he waited another seven days
- 35:40and sent out the dove, which did not return again to him anymore.
- 35:47And it came to pass. In the 601st year, in the first
- 35:51month, the first day of the month, as the waters were dried
- 35:55up from the earth, and Noah removed the covering of the ark
- 35:59and looked, and indeed the surface of the ground was dry.
- 36:04And in the second month, on the 27th day of the month, the earth
- 36:07was dried, whom God spoke to Noah saying, Go out of the ark,
- 36:11you and your wife and your sons, and your son's wives with you.
- 36:15Bring out with you every living thing of all flesh that is with
- 36:18you, birds and cattle, and every creeping thing that creeps on
- 36:21the earth, so that they may abound on the earth and be
- 36:23fruitful and multiply on the earth.
- 36:28So Noah went out, and his sons and his wife and his son's wives
- 36:32with them. Every animal, every creeping
- 36:34thing, every bird, and whatever creeps on the earth according to
- 36:37their families, went out of the ark.
- 36:40The Noah built an altar to the Lord and took of every clean
- 36:46animal and of every clean bird, and offered burnt offerings on
- 36:52the altar. And the Lord smelled A soothing
- 36:56aroma. And the Lord said in his heart,
- 36:59I will never again curse the ground for man's sake, although
- 37:05the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth.
- 37:12Nor will I again destroy every living thing as I have done.
- 37:15While the earth remains, seed, time and harvest, cold and heat,
- 37:19winter and summer, and day and night shall not cease.
- 37:28So God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, Be fruitful
- 37:33and multiply and fill the earth. And the fear of you and the
- 37:38dread of you shall be on every beast of the earth, on every
- 37:41bird of the air, and on all that move on the earth and on all the
- 37:44fish of the sea, they're given into your hand.
- 37:48Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you.
- 37:51I've given you all things even as the green herbs, but you
- 37:58shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, with its blood.
- 38:07Surely for your lifeblood I will demand A reckoning.
- 38:12From the hand of every beast I will require it, and from the
- 38:14hand of man, from the hand of every man's brother I will
- 38:17require the life of man. Whoever sheds man's blood by
- 38:22man, his blood shall be shed, for in the image of God he made
- 38:28man. And As for you, be fruitful and
- 38:31multiply, Bring forth abundantly in the earth, and multiply in
- 38:35it. And God spoke to Noah, unto his
- 38:38sons, with him saying, And As for me, behold, I establish my
- 38:42covenant with you, and with your descendants after you, and with
- 38:46every living creature that is with you, the birds, the cattle,
- 38:50and every beast of the earth, with you of all that go out of
- 38:53the ark, every beast of the earth.
- 38:56Thus I establish my covenant with you.
- 38:58Never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of the
- 39:01flood. Never again shall there be a
- 39:03flood to destroy the earth. And God said, This is the sign
- 39:09of the covenant which I make between me and you, and every
- 39:12living creature that is with you for perpetual generations.
- 39:17I set my rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be for the sign of
- 39:21the covenant between me and the earth.
- 39:25It shall be when I bring a cloud over the earth that the rainbow
- 39:29shall be seen in the cloud, and I will remember my covenant,
- 39:32which is between me and every living creature of all flesh.
- 39:37The water shall never again become a flood to destroy all
- 39:40flesh. The rainbow shall be in the
- 39:43cloud and I will look on it to remember the everlasting
- 39:47covenant between God and every living creature of the flesh
- 39:51that is on the earth. And God said to Noah, this is
- 39:56the sign of the covenant which I have established between me and
- 39:59all flesh that is on the earth. Thank you God for your word.
- 40:05Please bless the discussion today in Jesus name, Amen.
- 40:13All right, now's the time where everybody should go do your
- 40:19refills. I'm going to play the same song
- 40:21I did yesterday, which was an introduction to a song concept
- 40:27that I got a little help from AI for helping me with the melody
- 40:35of the lyrics. This isn't the version.
- 40:36I will say this though, it's a real pain.
- 40:41The version of this that I do really like because it was
- 40:44multiple versions and there's a male version and I did
- 40:49everything in my power yesterday.
- 40:50I was working on it to be able to sing the song and I can't do
- 40:56it in the manner in which I I love.
- 41:00And that's I had a humbling moment yesterday where I
- 41:07thought, wow, I really wish I could sing this.
- 41:09It's so darn good and I can't. So I may try and do just a
- 41:16version that I can't like. In other words, sing it lower,
- 41:19but it's just not the same. And we'll see.
- 41:23I'm going to let God decide that.
- 41:25We'll see how that goes. But I hope you'll enjoy this
- 41:29because this is relevant to our discussion again today.
- 41:33We talk about the flood and I, we, I imagine maybe Brett and me
- 41:39and anyone else that's going to come in.
- 41:41I do see that Brett's in here. Brandon, I see you too.
- 41:44So Brandon, we're going to, we're discussing this scripture
- 41:48today is good, a lot of good stuff for us to talk about,
- 41:51particularly the historicity of the flood and, and whether it
- 41:56matters. That's the big question.
- 42:00And I'll give you a precursor for me, whether or not the Noah
- 42:03story is true, it, it doesn't matter.
- 42:06There's an underlying current. And there's this really great
- 42:10thread that I hope to show you that isn't my own idea.
- 42:15It's actually from Pastor Brian of Calvary Chapel Malibu.
- 42:18One of my favorite sermons that he did involve the dove that we
- 42:23saw today and the on the ark. So we will be discussing that
- 42:29dove and how it stitches together the old and new
- 42:33covenants. And I'm curious what you guys
- 42:35will think about it. So for now, let's take a just
- 42:40under 4 minute break. We'll be right back.
- 42:44Enjoy this song. Let me get the flood.
- 42:48Want you to meditate on it. If you're already ready to
- 42:50discuss and you don't need coffee, just meditate on the
- 42:54song. The idea that the it's based on
- 42:57Ezekiel 47, that the farther we get from the perfect temple, the
- 43:01perfect temple that in Ezekiel 47 starts to flood.
- 43:05There's water that comes out, and contrary to basic physics
- 43:09and logic, that living water that comes out of the perfect
- 43:13temple, rather than the farther that it goes, the water goes
- 43:17that it would get shallower and shallower.
- 43:20That living water, the farther that it goes from the perfect
- 43:23temple, the farther that we try and escape and walk away from
- 43:26that perfection of God, Jesus, the temple that he raised up in
- 43:31three days, the deeper the flood, the waters get, the
- 43:36waters of grace. On that note, this song is
- 43:40probably going to be called Ezekiel 47.
- 43:43This is essentially a demo with a female vocal.
- 43:45I really, really like this vocal.
- 43:47So be back in about four minutes.
- 47:48OK, I've got the crew of Brandon and Brett, the Double B welcome.
- 47:57Hey man, beautiful song by the way.
- 48:00You're going to send me a copy so I can?
- 48:02Listen, Yeah, yeah, I mean, I, I don't know, that's not, that's
- 48:05the demo of the version I'm going to try and do.
- 48:07It's not 100% the same arrangement.
- 48:09It's pretty close though of the version that I was trying to
- 48:12sing because I have a male aspect of that song.
- 48:16Thank you for that though. But that was the melody line of
- 48:20the vocal because I had a, a music idea and I had lyrics.
- 48:26And so I, I took the music idea with the lyrics and it was a, a
- 48:33music cue that I wrote about 15 years ago.
- 48:35And I just couldn't figure out how to turn it into a song.
- 48:38And I used AAI to help me to do that.
- 48:41We talked about that a little yesterday with Brandon.
- 48:43So we'll see it, it's probably going to be released, not that
- 48:46version, although I love that version.
- 48:48It's so beautiful, but I'm going to do my own and see how.
- 48:53Why can't you? Why can't you do like a single?
- 48:56You're allowed like a do something like CD Baby, You
- 49:00could put out three versions of it.
- 49:02Musicians have been known to do that.
- 49:04Maybe I will. Yeah, maybe you know why not?
- 49:07Why not? I might put it.
- 49:08Out put it on like Spotify and stuff.
- 49:12Well, I I am on Yeah, I will. I am on Spotify.
- 49:15The the only thing is like if I was thinking how am I going to
- 49:21label it? Because it's not obviously it's
- 49:23not Rob Reed singing there. It's actually AI singing right
- 49:26there. That doesn't matter.
- 49:27I know I'm going to put it. I do have AI have two Spotify
- 49:33channels, 1 is just. I had AI experimented with
- 49:38writing classical music about 10:00-ish years ago, and I did
- 49:43a, what would you call it, a medley?
- 49:46I did a Christmas medley and I called it My Baby's First
- 49:50Christmas lullaby. And it's under the artist name
- 49:53Faith Love Hope Orchestra. And I was thinking of putting
- 49:59that song that you just heard, maybe under the Faith Love
- 50:01Orchestra concept. And if they asked me who sang
- 50:05that, I'll be like, well, her name is Brett Keene, and she's
- 50:12beautiful. Yeah, can I just make a
- 50:14suggestion as far as 'cause you know the whole name of the game
- 50:18noun that we're entering, Cause nobody buys CDs anymore.
- 50:21It's all going to streaming, period.
- 50:24I think that's obvious. And you know, why would you buy
- 50:27ACD when you can just stream any song you want to?
- 50:30So anyways. But yes, it's a marketing matter
- 50:35purely when you're dealing with Spotify.
- 50:38And so that's why you need to think of a good marketing name.
- 50:43You know what I mean? Like, you know, think of a good
- 50:46woman's name and make her an artist, you know what I'm
- 50:50saying? Because if you, if you can, this
- 50:53is what I'm, you know, I'm, I just, you know, my position is
- 50:57we're at this point in time, we're in a war of words and
- 51:01people are not paying attention. They do not understand that all
- 51:05music is spiritual And no one's paying attention to the words
- 51:10that get pumped into their head. Just like, for example, I mean,
- 51:14if you look up the, the lyrics to Barry Manilow's song, I write
- 51:19the songs. Tell me who's writing the songs
- 51:22when you read those lyrics, you know what I'm saying?
- 51:26I thought it was Barry. I used to clean house to that.
- 51:29My mom forced me to clean house to that song and.
- 51:31Mandy pull up the lyrics real quick.
- 51:34I I remember I write the songs. I've been alive forever.
- 51:40What? Barry.
- 51:41OK, that's interesting. Oh, you've been alive forever.
- 51:45And I wrote the very first song, yeah.
- 51:48I wrote the very first song. Who are we talking about now?
- 51:53That's interesting. OK.
- 51:55That's why you know people don't understand, even through the
- 51:59nicest, sweetest Disney songs, you've got satanic messages.
- 52:05Yeah, I mean, sometimes, but I also find like, since since I
- 52:08tried, I've actually tried. And then let's go into the Bible
- 52:12in a SEC. But so I'm going to pop this out
- 52:14so people don't get I've tried to write secular songs.
- 52:18I have a couple like I have a love song to my wife and things,
- 52:22but there's always I can't get out.
- 52:24It's sort of like reminds me of that song.
- 52:26The farther I run, the the fuller the flood is the line
- 52:30there. So it's AII can't escape God's
- 52:35desire to speak his message through me.
- 52:39And I've tried, I've tried many, many times since becoming a
- 52:43Christian. I obviously I've been writing
- 52:45songs. I think the the first song that
- 52:48I formally wrote and it was only because I that I wrote in full.
- 52:53I tried before, but I didn't really play an instrument.
- 52:55But as soon as I learned how to play guitar, I wrote my first
- 52:58song, I think in 1988 and and and so and then I was I was a
- 53:06love song to my girlfriend. It's time now my wife and that
- 53:11one doesn't have God themes that I remember, but I'd be
- 53:13interesting for me to look. But every time I I try now,
- 53:17there's, there's always some theme of repentance or changing
- 53:21the mind or correcting oneself or that there's some higher
- 53:27purpose to life. It's I can't get past it.
- 53:29So it's interesting. I don't want to.
- 53:32I don't want to market. I'm only trying to encourage you
- 53:35because I think that, you know, if we can pump out music with
- 53:41doctrinal truths, you know what I mean?
- 53:44People are going to be listening to things that they're not even
- 53:46really paying attention to, but we're pumping a positive message
- 53:50in there. Right.
- 53:52That's all I'm getting at. I'm with you.
- 53:54So let's try and do that, and I'm glad that you're doing it as
- 53:57well. So great.
- 53:59I'm not saying who my little Spotify band is, because I'm
- 54:02hoping here soon that everybody here in YouTube land goes.
- 54:07Have you heard this band? Okay, well.
- 54:10Hi. I'm anxious to try and figure
- 54:13that out. We'll see it when it happens.
- 54:14I'm going to just start looking at random Chris.
- 54:16I'm going to type random Christian search messages or
- 54:19search terms and see if you pull up.
- 54:21We'll see. Well, Rob, I was going to
- 54:23mention that a lot of that, a lot of the a lot of the secular
- 54:27bands out there have actually got many songs that talk about
- 54:32God and all that. Even some of the bands that some
- 54:35people might actually think wouldn't possibly ever do that.
- 54:38But yeah, did you know Alice Cooper?
- 54:41His father was a preacher and he talks about Christ all the time
- 54:45so. I know that, yeah, I do know
- 54:46that and I do. There's I was really surprised
- 54:49to learn maybe it was about 10-15 years ago because I grew
- 54:52up with Black Sabbath. They were one of my favorite
- 54:54bands and Black Sabbath has actually a gospel song.
- 54:57I forget what it's called. Ozzy had a Bible in his hand at
- 55:03the at the end of the run there man.
- 55:05Yeah, let me see if I can. Do you know of that song, Brett?
- 55:08The Black Sabbath Like. Well, Ozzy, unlike Dio who later
- 55:14on becomes their lead vocalist of Black Sabbath.
- 55:17What was more of an agnostic, but Ozzy definitely believed in
- 55:21God early on. Are you thinking about War Pigs?
- 55:24No, it's. Actually, no.
- 55:25War Pigs was about politics and yeah, it's about.
- 55:28What I mean, Satan, laughing, spreads his way.
- 55:33Yeah, no, it's, it was, I have it up here.
- 55:36It's it's a song. It says that because Black
- 55:39Sabbath was getting sick of being called Satanist, bassist
- 55:43Geezer Butler, who is a Christian, wrote this pro
- 55:46Christianity song. The lyrics about being open
- 55:49minded and at least consider and then I'll stop it there because
- 55:51I don't know if a commercial's going to pop up, but it starts
- 55:54up. The first verse is have you?
- 55:56This is Black Sabbath by the way, after forever.
- 55:58Have you ever thought about your soul?
- 55:59Can it be saved or perhaps you think that when you are dead,
- 56:02you just stay in your grave? Is God just a thought within
- 56:05your head or is he a part of you?
- 56:06Is Christ just a name that you read in the book when you were
- 56:09in school? This is sung by Ozzy Osbourne
- 56:11and it was it was released by Black Sabbath.
- 56:14So yeah, it's it's interesting how but and you I always hear
- 56:18God messages in songs, even for those that in secular that that
- 56:23aren't trying. And I do think Brandon, it's a
- 56:25good point that he's. In that new hit song right now,
- 56:29that's like top of Spotify. That song Ordinary by Alex,
- 56:33whatever his name is, I. Don't know it.
- 56:35Oh, man, yeah. I mean, it's a pretty, I mean, I
- 56:39got to hand it to him, even though I, you know, I've
- 56:41listened to the rest of his songs and they suck, but this
- 56:44one's a good one. Boy, you, you did a good job on
- 56:47that one. And he was explaining how all
- 56:52of, like, his record label people were saying, yeah, nobody
- 56:55likes this song, this and that. And he kept, you know, he had to
- 56:59like post it on the Tick Tock like 182 times for it to
- 57:04actually take off. And that, you know, they were
- 57:06making a point about because of all of the AI garbage that's
- 57:10going out there now, you really have to in order for anyone to
- 57:14even see your video instead of all of these little AI kitties
- 57:19drinking beer or whatever videos, you know what I mean?
- 57:22We're flooded with all that garbage.
- 57:24So now it's making it harder to market your music.
- 57:27Yeah, but it but still it's it's a good time to be, it's a bad
- 57:31time to be an artist musically, if you want to make money, it's
- 57:34a great time. Trust me, they're going to dumb
- 57:37down AI shortly the the SUNO and everything's going to get Dumber
- 57:41soon. Watch.
- 57:42We'll see. It's pretty amazing right now.
- 57:45There are a lot of things that I.
- 57:46Play with the toy. Yeah, the toy is not perfect
- 57:50though, because I, I, I've been working on changing lyrics, in
- 57:53particular that song, and it's very, very difficult.
- 57:56So we'll they could make that a little bit easier.
- 58:00Yeah, you can take the song, download it from Suno, put it
- 58:03into a mixer, do whatever you want to it there.
- 58:08You know what I'm saying? Lot you can do all.
- 58:10Right, let's go let's go into the Bible study.
- 58:14One of the things I want, and this is again, not my concept,
- 58:17but I, I want to start here just because I might forget if we get
- 58:20to the discussion, but the, the story of the dove in Noah's, the
- 58:26Noah's Ark. And Noah sends out this dove and
- 58:32he does it three times. He the first time comes back.
- 58:36Second time comes back with an olive branch, right?
- 58:40Was it an olive branch that a olive leaf that was in the
- 58:43dove's mouth, but it's still this it didn't have, it didn't
- 58:46stay, it came back. But the last time he sends out
- 58:50the dove and it doesn't return again to him anymore.
- 58:52And I've already accidentally revealed the connection with the
- 58:57New Testament. So that Pastor Brian had
- 59:00preached probably like a year and a half ago or something.
- 59:02He was preaching on this and he talked about the dove and, and
- 59:07where the dove may have landed that that connects old and new.
- 59:12And that's, that's the message I see here.
- 59:14The fabric that is stitched together, that brings new and
- 59:19old together. This dove never escapes.
- 59:22We presume that it's that it's on land somewhere, but Pastor
- 59:27Brian, and it's probably not his own idea anyway, but I'm curious
- 59:30what you guys think of this. Imagines that dove leaving the
- 59:34ark with the new promise, the new covenant of of God.
- 59:37And then it's that same dove that comes down has the Holy
- 59:42Spirit that Jesus sees in Luke 3.
- 59:46Luke 321 says when all the people were baptized, it came to
- 59:48pass that Jesus was also baptized.
- 59:51And while Jesus prayed, the heaven was opened and the Holy
- 59:54Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon him.
- 59:58And a voice came from heaven which said, you are my beloved
- 1:00:01son. And and you I am well pleased.
- 1:00:03So it's this, this, this second covenant.
- 1:00:08You know, we have the the law that's or actually it's the
- 1:00:11first covenant cause the law through Moses will come after.
- 1:00:15So we get this covenant from God that he's going to never again
- 1:00:20destroy through a flood is this story with with Moses.
- 1:00:24But then it the dove flies through time, if you will, and
- 1:00:29enters through this fabric ripped into Jesus's time to
- 1:00:34connect, to stitch, to carry the the from the old promise of Noah
- 1:00:41all the way through passed the law and coming through to Jesus,
- 1:00:47the final covenant. That's what the Christians
- 1:00:50believe of salvation through him.
- 1:00:52What do you guys think of that connection?
- 1:00:56You know, me personally, I think that that's a stretch.
- 1:00:59And you know, I mean, I everybody likes to get into
- 1:01:01these little like romantic ideas and stuff, and that's cool.
- 1:01:06I mean, you know, I mean, but I think that this is a, you know,
- 1:01:09the spirit descending in bodily form like a dove would rule out
- 1:01:15that it's, you know, it's not the same dove.
- 1:01:17Obviously this is. How do you know what?
- 1:01:20Do you mean? Well, why couldn't it be?
- 1:01:24I don't know, you know, why would God keep a single dove
- 1:01:28alive that long? I mean it's.
- 1:01:30Well, you know, in time God exists outside of time.
- 1:01:34It you know, we think of science and all this craziness.
- 1:01:37What is it just a wormhole? What if with this?
- 1:01:40I don't think it was like an actual dove sitting there
- 1:01:43floating over Jesus, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:01:45I think, yeah, in bodily form, like a dove.
- 1:01:50So I don't I, I think. It says like, like a dove, but
- 1:01:53it says that the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form.
- 1:01:57In bodily form. There was a there was a form,
- 1:02:00there was a shape and it was identifiable as a dove.
- 1:02:03Why wasn't it an eagle? Why wasn't it an albatross swan,
- 1:02:07a beautiful bird? Because the reality this is
- 1:02:10interesting to a dove. What?
- 1:02:12What kind of bird is a dove? Dude I have so many doves on my
- 1:02:17property it'll blow your mind. So yeah, they're all over the
- 1:02:20place, right? Yeah, they're like pigeons.
- 1:02:21Yeah, that's exactly right. It's an albino pigeon.
- 1:02:25Yeah. And what and what do pigeons do?
- 1:02:27What's their function? And in license, how do they eat?
- 1:02:33What do you like Insects and. Why do where do you see pigeons
- 1:02:37usually see them in big cities, right?
- 1:02:40Pigeons. Yeah, I suppose.
- 1:02:42Yeah. They're they hang out in
- 1:02:43garbage. Yeah, I have a ton of them here.
- 1:02:46There's lots of them here in Arizona, so.
- 1:02:48Yeah. So it's, they're like my Pastor
- 1:02:51Dana. So I'm, I'm merging my 2
- 1:02:53pastors, my my 2 primary teachers.
- 1:02:57Pastor Dana called the dove a trash bird, just like a pigeon.
- 1:03:00They hang out and try, they take Peck out of trash.
- 1:03:03They survive by trash. And it's a, it's a reflection
- 1:03:06like we, we imagined dove as a, as a pretty bird with an olive
- 1:03:10branch. We see it because it's in
- 1:03:12Christian symbology. But the reality is the dove is
- 1:03:16really like an albino trash bird.
- 1:03:18And it's a perfect reflection of, of who we are.
- 1:03:23You know, the wretches that we are without Jesus and yet rather
- 1:03:27than God the Holy Spirit coming through the fabric there in Luke
- 1:03:333 as a glorious bird, a majestic bird.
- 1:03:39He comes out as a, as the Holy Spirit comes out in the, the
- 1:03:43vision of in the bodily form of like a dove, clearly some kind
- 1:03:48of bird, but it appeared otherwise it wouldn't be written
- 1:03:51this way. It appeared to be a dove, a
- 1:03:53trash bird. I, I find that really
- 1:03:56interesting. And yeah, you could call it a
- 1:03:58stretch, but as I say, I I think as I think these things are
- 1:04:04purposefully there for us. And so for me, the story of Noah
- 1:04:11and we can talk about this. Next, I don't.
- 1:04:13Care whether the story of Noah is true, I personally if from a.
- 1:04:17Yeah, but I can't. That baffles me that you, I
- 1:04:21mean, because it's this is important.
- 1:04:24You know, there's tons of evidence for the flood.
- 1:04:26So it it's proof that look, God doesn't play games when it comes
- 1:04:31to judgement. You need to pay attention,
- 1:04:34folks. This isn't a joke.
- 1:04:36You know what I'm saying? There is going to be a judgement
- 1:04:39day and when Jesus comes back, he's not coming back for hugs
- 1:04:43and kisses. Well, but I think this, this is
- 1:04:47the saith robbery. I think that there was a flood.
- 1:04:50I think that there are many people around to witness the
- 1:04:52flood. I'm not 100% sure it was
- 1:04:55worldwide. I think there were more than
- 1:04:57just Noah and his family that survived it.
- 1:05:01But and that's why we have things like the the flood story
- 1:05:04of Gilgamesh. Atheists like to use the these
- 1:05:08flood stories. We'll see.
- 1:05:09There were multiple flood stories.
- 1:05:10As if that was a discredit. Discreditation.
- 1:05:13I don't know if that's a correct word.
- 1:05:14As if that could discredit the biblical story.
- 1:05:18And I'm like, if anything, it confirms it.
- 1:05:21It just could be like a game of telephone.
- 1:05:24Isn't it hilarious? The atheist will sit there and
- 1:05:27say what evidence for the is there for the flood and it's
- 1:05:31have you ever seen the ocean dum dum?
- 1:05:34Have you seen any other planet that's got water all over it?
- 1:05:38I mean, how could the oceans not be evidence for the flood?
- 1:05:43Well, they would say, I would say more that it could be
- 1:05:46evidence of creation, like the interesting story and we've
- 1:05:50already read in Genesis 1 of waters and the earth was filled
- 1:05:55with water. See the thing I like to find
- 1:05:57commonality with an atheist when we're talking about things and
- 1:06:00to say, well, where do you think that life originated where an
- 1:06:05atheist would think it originated, where it popped into
- 1:06:08existence randomly and some primordial soup It would have
- 1:06:11been life starts for the atheist in water.
- 1:06:15And so the the with life starting in water, we have a
- 1:06:20commonality. We both say that that there were
- 1:06:24that that's even what God did. God first starts creating the
- 1:06:29animals, and presumably he did it with fish, right.
- 1:06:32And start with a fish where the evolutionist looks as they go.
- 1:06:35Well, yeah. Started as fish, and slowly the
- 1:06:37fish got and through the long, long period of time got legs,
- 1:06:41and then they were able to walk on land, turned into lizards.
- 1:06:43Whatever and whatever you believe in that there's a
- 1:06:45commonality. There's a thread between atheism
- 1:06:48and theism there with me that we both share, so I focus on that
- 1:06:53rather than saying, you know, to an atheist you're just silly for
- 1:06:57for not seeing a flood from because.
- 1:07:00Yeah, yeah. I mean, I, I wouldn't argue it
- 1:07:01like that with somebody that I'm trying to lead to the Lord.
- 1:07:04I'm just saying as far as like amongst us, like how silly is it
- 1:07:08that people would say, you know what evidence for the flood?
- 1:07:12Well, the whole planet's covered in water, I mean.
- 1:07:15Yeah, well, they say it started that way and I I could, it could
- 1:07:18have started that way. So I there are many.
- 1:07:21There's no other planet we with all of the telescopes we have
- 1:07:24now, like the James Webb, there is no other planet that we've
- 1:07:27observed that has water on it. Yeah, in my case, I would simply
- 1:07:31say because God, particularly the small little speck, this
- 1:07:36tiny speck in the entirety of the universe, I mean, tiny speck
- 1:07:39is being generous. We, we are an irrelevant little
- 1:07:43piece of the massive universe that it was purposeful that God
- 1:07:47had planned for the the ultimate creation to be formed on this
- 1:07:53earth. That's at least the evidence
- 1:07:55that we have so far. It'd be interesting to see if we
- 1:07:57discover long afterward that that that there is life on other
- 1:08:02planets, which I think is a possibility.
- 1:08:04I don't know. I was, I was going to say Rob
- 1:08:07that as far as the wormhole and all that I'm I I would be more
- 1:08:12up for the idea of since God is outside of time, he exists past,
- 1:08:17present, future, because we exist linear.
- 1:08:20That's how our existence is. I wouldn't have a problem with
- 1:08:24God actually manifesting the dove in such a way with the
- 1:08:27olive leaf in order to be able to coincide with something
- 1:08:32symbolic in the New Testament. I'm totally for that.
- 1:08:36As far as the water, I've heard atheists say things like, you
- 1:08:40know, where did all the water come from?
- 1:08:42And I said one the world. Our our planet is actually
- 1:08:46considered a water planet because it's 75% in the surface.
- 1:08:50A lot of people don't know this, but 400 miles below the crust of
- 1:08:55the earth there is over 5 oceans worth of water in.
- 1:08:59Remember the Bible didn't just say it rained, it said the earth
- 1:09:02broke open and water came forth. So there's plenty of plenty of
- 1:09:07information and ways to be able to get around that.
- 1:09:10As far as saying that there's other stories of men on a boat
- 1:09:14or whatever. What's interesting, if you look
- 1:09:16into it and actually compare the language of Giggle Mesh, it
- 1:09:20actually comes out to Noah. Isn't that neat?
- 1:09:23Yeah. And I think, I think that's very
- 1:09:25interesting to me. But even if it's just the
- 1:09:27concept of the flood, 'cause there are other flood
- 1:09:30mythologies, I I don't, I can't name them off the top of my
- 1:09:33head. But if anything, I'd say, well,
- 1:09:35if there are multiple stories of a flood in multiple different
- 1:09:38locations, but they have some disparities, some the
- 1:09:43commonality we can see between the malls, the fact that there
- 1:09:46was a flood. So so it doesn't refute a flood.
- 1:09:51It might refute, you know, if you try and argue if somebody
- 1:09:54else earlier had a Noah ish story, maybe it's Christianity
- 1:09:59took that on, or rather it would rather Jewish Judaism did.
- 1:10:03But to me, it's irrelevant because there's a just like with
- 1:10:06Adam and Eve, you know when we argue the truth of whether the
- 1:10:10Adam and Eve story is true or it's not, If it's a as if it's
- 1:10:15just a myth, if Noah's just a myth, there's a reason for these
- 1:10:19stories that goes beyond whether or not they're actually.
- 1:10:22True, but if it if it's not pure truth dude, then we have
- 1:10:26nothing. No, we, we do we, we have we
- 1:10:30have a great story of the fact that God had an intention to
- 1:10:35create an ultimate creation that he was going to have a
- 1:10:38relationship with that he breathed life into which is the
- 1:10:42human. But we read today and I, I sort
- 1:10:45of, I forgot this and to move it back into the to our reading
- 1:10:52today, there is a reference to not only God breathing life into
- 1:11:00Adam and Eve into humans, as I, I used to use that as AI used to
- 1:11:06think of that as well. That's a representation of how
- 1:11:09we were special. But there's a reference to
- 1:11:12animals having received the blood, the breath of life.
- 1:11:17See they, they went into the ark.
- 1:11:18This is from Genesis 715 and they went into the ark, but to
- 1:11:25Noah, that's the animals, two by two of all flesh, in which all
- 1:11:29flesh, these animals is the breath of life.
- 1:11:33So that same breath of life is given to animals where I think
- 1:11:39we have been made more special, where the ultimate creation is
- 1:11:41that God has given us a, a ability to reason like we're
- 1:11:46doing right now. You're not going to see 3 doves
- 1:11:49together talking about this, these issues.
- 1:11:52You're not going to see three pigs.
- 1:11:53You're not going to see 3 cows, three horses, three dogs, 3
- 1:11:56gorillas. You're going to see humans.
- 1:12:00And so we are made special, sure, but all it even says here,
- 1:12:04all in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life
- 1:12:07referring to the animals. So that's an interesting thought
- 1:12:10to me. What also was interesting is
- 1:12:13that God because it's weird for someone, and this is now that
- 1:12:17I'm thinking out loud, this is before the Levitical laws, but
- 1:12:21still there were animals who were considered to be unclean
- 1:12:27and they were included on the ark.
- 1:12:31Why do you think God if he was going to reset everything in
- 1:12:34this story, why would he want there to be unclean animals in
- 1:12:38his new his new creation after the flood?
- 1:12:45Sure. Why?
- 1:12:47Why? So there were two pigs.
- 1:12:49There were two pigs on the Ark, right?
- 1:12:51Well, you know how you mentioned Rob earlier, whenever you were
- 1:12:54reading, you would have said that how God was giving mankind
- 1:12:58dominion and also how that some of the animals were given to
- 1:13:03eat. Perhaps.
- 1:13:05There seems to be a lot of dietary advice and Judaism where
- 1:13:09it's explaining what we can eat and what we can't.
- 1:13:12Back then, if you ate the wrong thing, boy, that was going to
- 1:13:15tear you up. It's not like they had 911 in
- 1:13:18the hospital run off to you. Yeah.
- 1:13:21And it's also, it's also kind of, you know, poetic justice as
- 1:13:25far as you know, the blood of Jesus cleans, cleanses
- 1:13:29everything, makes everything clean.
- 1:13:33That's where you know what I mean?
- 1:13:35That is the difference, you know.
- 1:13:38Because after you know, after Jesus dies on the cross and
- 1:13:42everything, sure, you can eat pigs all you want.
- 1:13:45Well, it was before he even died, though he preached.
- 1:13:49He said it isn't what goes into the mouth.
- 1:13:51That's the files. It isn't before he died, before
- 1:13:54the blood. It isn't what goes into the
- 1:13:56mouth that defiles you. It's what comes out right, so I
- 1:14:01think. I think one other thing too,
- 1:14:03Rob, I think the reason why God kept the unclean creatures
- 1:14:07around as well as the clean is to build the rebuild the
- 1:14:11ecosystem. Every animal, whether unclean or
- 1:14:14not, it has some purpose in it and they do something that
- 1:14:18actually helps the the earth and it's kind of like a symbiotic
- 1:14:22relationship. I totally I I I totally get that
- 1:14:26too. But, and, and it also stands to
- 1:14:29reason in and that's why we look at perceived evil, how we
- 1:14:34perceive it when we watch a, a lion run after a zebra, for
- 1:14:39instance, and catch the slowest oldest one, probably or the
- 1:14:42youngest. And that makes it even worse to
- 1:14:45see them just RIP it apart while it's still alive.
- 1:14:49But it's there is a purpose to the ecosystem that whether it's
- 1:14:54population control, whether it's just the way in which things
- 1:14:57were designed in, in the fallen world of how we survive in the
- 1:15:04end for me, you know, when we look at those things, you know,
- 1:15:07especially for a member of Peter or something, they, they would
- 1:15:10go crazy. We have to, we cannot answer for
- 1:15:17God as to why these things happen.
- 1:15:21I think that's, it's sort of those kind of events that
- 1:15:25happened outside of sight for us most of the time with the only
- 1:15:29reason we know that these things happen is because people go into
- 1:15:33the, the jungles and plains of Africa and see these horrible
- 1:15:37things happen and they film it for us to, to, you know, in our,
- 1:15:41in our horrible natures, we can't help but watch it that
- 1:15:46there is a reason for it probably.
- 1:15:48And when somebody says, you know, what is a reason?
- 1:15:50Why did God do that? I don't know, I think I don't
- 1:15:54know is the best answer there. Like why?
- 1:15:56Why does evil? Why do bad things happen?
- 1:15:59Well, that's yeah. Because right now, you know, I
- 1:16:02mean Satan, you know, the Bible even says Satan has a Kingdom,
- 1:16:07you know what I mean? So they're there.
- 1:16:08And then also like in the book of Daniel, where Gabriel's like,
- 1:16:12you know, sorry I'm late, but I had to fight with the Prince of
- 1:16:16Tyre or what? You know what, I may be botching
- 1:16:19that as far as but when you know, in the book of Daniel,
- 1:16:22Gabriel comes and says, you know, I was delayed, Satan
- 1:16:26delayed me or whatever kind of showing that these these
- 1:16:31principalities are very territorial.
- 1:16:34So there are like, you know, there are borders and districts
- 1:16:38here on this earth and we wrestle not with against flesh
- 1:16:43and blood, but against principalities.
- 1:16:46So obviously we're talking about spiritual principalities.
- 1:16:51And anyhow. That's a perfect segue, but what
- 1:16:55were you anyhow? What were you going to say?
- 1:16:56Yeah. No, I'm just, I wanted to look
- 1:16:58up real quick in Daniel what principality that was like I
- 1:17:04want to say the Prince of Tyre is what it says, but I think I
- 1:17:08might be wrong. So let me just look that up real
- 1:17:11quick. All right, it's good.
- 1:17:13I was listening Rob, where you got into the Jesus and Satan
- 1:17:17temptation part where Satan was leading him up.
- 1:17:20You know, the flood story never really caused me to be have any
- 1:17:25confusion as far as an environmental catastrophe happen
- 1:17:29to know all over the world. That seems common sense to me,
- 1:17:33but that the one about Satan and God talking now that always was
- 1:17:37unusual to me because I'm like, why is this little?
- 1:17:40Why is this basement dweller telling God he's going to give
- 1:17:44God cool stuff? I mean, God already owns the
- 1:17:47universe. So that's always made me scratch
- 1:17:50my head and I think this will be an interesting topic.
- 1:17:53I'm glad you brought it up. Yeah, that's the Segway.
- 1:17:55So you said that it's Persia? Persia, Prince of Persia is too
- 1:18:00delayed. Gabriel and Michael had to, you
- 1:18:03know, the Archangel Michael had to come in and handle the Prince
- 1:18:07of Persia so that Gabriel could deliver the message to Daniel.
- 1:18:12OK, cool. So that that'll lead.
- 1:18:14So thanks for that you brought you helped to lead into the
- 1:18:16Segway Brett caught it and so that's where we are.
- 1:18:20I moved there that talking about Satan and his control of the
- 1:18:26things of this world, which I tend to agree with.
- 1:18:28So we go to the God of this. World yeah, we go to the
- 1:18:31temptation that we read today in Matthew 4 so it's perfect.
- 1:18:35I think there's a possibility to answer you, Brett.
- 1:18:38You know that you said that you were somewhat curious about
- 1:18:40this, that because Satan doesn't know exactly he does know of
- 1:18:45this Messiah to come was going to have divine authority because
- 1:18:49of past Scripture. And thank you, Brandon for
- 1:18:54mentioning the book of Daniel because it is the book of Daniel
- 1:18:57that says that it's Daniel. I believe seven that says that
- 1:19:00Jesus references as he's preaching to say that he is the
- 1:19:04one come down from heaven from the book of Daniel to be the one
- 1:19:08who has all authority, the same authority as God, but he comes
- 1:19:12down from on high and Satan may not have understood.
- 1:19:19Well, 'cause Satan, like a beast, is colorblind.
- 1:19:22Yeah, and. Jesus, you know, the repper, you
- 1:19:24know, Jesus the, the rainbow is, you know, the sign of the
- 1:19:29covenant. And This is why you know it.
- 1:19:32When Satan tempts Jesus, he's constantly saying if you're the
- 1:19:36Son of God, if you're the Son of God, you know, prove it.
- 1:19:41Yeah, and I, I that's great. And that's why I highlighted the
- 1:19:45if because this is also the temptation that many people and
- 1:19:50I know Brett, Brett, you've experienced this a lot.
- 1:19:54And I have to that many people will say if you are really a
- 1:19:58Christian, then you you wouldn't do that.
- 1:20:02Or if you're really Christian, you wouldn't think that you
- 1:20:05wouldn't say that you. There's a lot of the same
- 1:20:09satanic condemnation that we see here from Satan to Jesus, as we
- 1:20:14get from alleged fellow believers.
- 1:20:18And I think that that this, this story is in here too, to remind
- 1:20:22us of or to give us a, a lesson, if you will, on how to overcome
- 1:20:27that, which is simply to remember not to succumb to
- 1:20:31temptation, not to respond like for like not to get angry, but
- 1:20:36to simply rely on the word of God, as Jesus does here to get
- 1:20:40past Satan. What do you think about that?
- 1:20:45I agree with you, Rob. I agree that unfortunately, I
- 1:20:49feel sometimes like the devil does use people who label
- 1:20:54themselves as brothers and sisters and, and whenever they
- 1:20:57do it, it's it's not a form of love, it's a form of
- 1:21:00manipulation. It's a form of wanting to
- 1:21:03devalue you and make you feel little like you're not doing
- 1:21:07right and you're not good enough for God.
- 1:21:09So I think that's a a damn fine point you made, Rob.
- 1:21:14Well, and it's a it, it's the, you know, a house divided cannot
- 1:21:18stand. And this is the whole, you know,
- 1:21:21where people don't, you know, in my opinion, greatly
- 1:21:25underestimate Satan, as far as like, you know, he doesn't get
- 1:21:29to be the enemy of God 'cause he's stupid.
- 1:21:32He's very clever. He's more subtle than any beast
- 1:21:35in the field. He's wiser than the prophet
- 1:21:37Daniel. So we know the guy's not dumb.
- 1:21:41You don't want to play around with them.
- 1:21:42But I think that this story, I think it shows that he was
- 1:21:45naive. But this is, you know, again,
- 1:21:47why I have such a problem with even, you know, the new King
- 1:21:52James version, because it is, I mean, this is a slick little
- 1:21:57trick that people are not paying attention to.
- 1:22:00There are huge doctrinal differences even from the King
- 1:22:04James to the new King James. And even the Bible itself points
- 1:22:09out this problem with the preacher Apollos.
- 1:22:13Now keep in mind, Apollos just came from an Alexandria, Egypt,
- 1:22:18and he was preaching, you know, he was, he was a saved dude, a
- 1:22:22great preacher, But Aquila and Priscilla had to pull them aside
- 1:22:26to give him the gospel more perfectly because he just came
- 1:22:30from the area where all the Alexandrian manuscripts are that
- 1:22:35are tainted, all of them. That's why his gospel was a
- 1:22:38little messed up and they had to help correct him.
- 1:22:42Where now they're in Antioch, where all of the actual real
- 1:22:46Textus Receptus manuscripts are. Boom.
- 1:22:49This is why this is an issue and the new King James Version
- 1:22:54starts pulling from the Alexandrian manuscripts and even
- 1:22:59all of the, you know, codexes and, and Strong's Concordance
- 1:23:05are all based off the Alexandrian text.
- 1:23:09So we're getting a whole lot of confusion because even when you
- 1:23:13go back and you, well, I looked it up in the Greek and this is
- 1:23:16what it means. And guess what?
- 1:23:18We got deceived folks that you're getting the Alexandrian
- 1:23:24on those definitions, so. I'll just, I'll refer, I'll
- 1:23:28I'll, I'll stop that discussion because yeah, we, I don't want
- 1:23:31to do it every day if you're going to be coming in every day.
- 1:23:33So Romans 14, except the weaker brother, you know, just just
- 1:23:38acknowledge the weaker brother and you, you stay in that
- 1:23:41knowledge, Brandon, and that's fine.
- 1:23:42And maybe one day you'll convince somebody like me.
- 1:23:44But let's get back on this that with I believe that Satan was
- 1:23:49naive. Here.
- 1:23:50How is that not an issue to you though?
- 1:23:52Rob I. Not for today, not.
- 1:23:54OK, but I, I mean, I I just have to, I'm just trying to
- 1:23:58understand. Because I think that this is
- 1:24:01perfectly fine word of God, I came to faith reading a
- 1:24:04different version than the KJV that God can use Balaam's ass to
- 1:24:08make a point. He can use any version of the
- 1:24:10Bible and you can be happy with just believing that this there's
- 1:24:14a perfect word in the KJV and I would submit to you that I that
- 1:24:18could be Chinese and we haven't we don't even have it yet and
- 1:24:21it's going to be in 1000 years. So.
- 1:24:24This is why Paul, let me just say I'll, I'll land here that
- 1:24:28you know, Paul did say that we are supposed to be of 1 hope and
- 1:24:33one doctrine. The Jesus even said you said
- 1:24:37that if you do not have the doctrine of Christ, you do not
- 1:24:40have God. You don't want to go that
- 1:24:42direction. So that's why I'm saying this.
- 1:24:44Is all right, all right, Let let me land the plane here with this
- 1:24:47by asking you a question. Did Paul have the KJV Bible?
- 1:24:51No, he is the KJ King James Paul.
- 1:24:55Paul is the KJV Bible. The all of these prophets that
- 1:24:59were inspired by the Holy Spirit, all right, They are a
- 1:25:03living Bible. They have it.
- 1:25:04They were the Bible alive. You know what I'm saying?
- 1:25:07Yeah, Paul didn't have it. Saint Francis of Assisi, Jerome.
- 1:25:12God. Promised he would.
- 1:25:13Purify. They didn't have it, so let's
- 1:25:16just let's land the plane there. But let's go back to the idea.
- 1:25:19I think that Satan was naive here and I don't believe that he
- 1:25:24when he heard OK, he believed that Jesus was the promise of
- 1:25:27Daniel 7 coming down from heaven with all authority, have the
- 1:25:30same authority as God, be able to judge the living and the
- 1:25:33dead. All of these things.
- 1:25:35But he probably thought as the Jehovah Witness does or a
- 1:25:40Mormon, I forget which one of them.
- 1:25:41I think it's Jehovah Witness that Jesus coming down from
- 1:25:45heaven was no different than him was like the Archangel Michael.
- 1:25:49I brought up the Jehovah Witnesses, I think.
- 1:25:51That's what he believed. So, so he, he, he, I think Satan
- 1:25:56just merely thinks that Jesus is not God.
- 1:25:58So when he's tempting Jesus, he's trying to destroy the entry
- 1:26:04of the new covenant to come in through Jesus by getting Jesus
- 1:26:08to kill himself in particular to or to just change sides like he
- 1:26:14did. And that's pretty nice.
- 1:26:16He didn't know that Jesus was actually, in fact God, I think.
- 1:26:20Brett, what do you think he. Might he might actually be on to
- 1:26:23something Robin the reason why and this kind of floors some
- 1:26:28Trinitarians and discussion, but I don't know if if you go back
- 1:26:32right before Jesus is going to deal with Satan.
- 1:26:36It says that God let LED him up there, that the Spirit LED Jesus
- 1:26:41up to this, for this. I guess we could call it a test
- 1:26:44between them. So you could be very absolutely
- 1:26:48right about that, Rob. Yeah.
- 1:26:50Jesus was led by the Spirit. Exactly.
- 1:26:51Yeah. Good.
- 1:26:53Right there and 1st Corinthians chapter 2 it says if they would
- 1:26:59have known he was the Lord of glory, they never would have
- 1:27:01crucified him. Say that again, Sorry I got a
- 1:27:05lot. I didn't get to hear that.
- 1:27:07Yeah, in First Corinthians chapter 2, verses 8 through 10,
- 1:27:12it says straight up, had the, you know, Princess of the of
- 1:27:16this world knew for they had known it, they would not have
- 1:27:21crucified the Lord of glory. Right.
- 1:27:24So we were, we are naive. The world's just as naive as
- 1:27:27Satan was. And if if Satan knew of Jesus
- 1:27:32being God, he probably would have had a different plan.
- 1:27:37Well, this is, and to me, this is where God's kind of
- 1:27:39revealing, you know, one of the beasts or Satan's weaknesses is
- 1:27:44This is why I described it like color blindness, like hell.
- 1:27:48You know, when you go deer hunting, you wear the orange
- 1:27:50because the deers can't see orange.
- 1:27:53So, you know, same thing, like, you know, Satan can't see orange
- 1:27:57kind of is what I'm, you know, getting at.
- 1:28:00And This is why they couldn't see who he was.
- 1:28:05And I find it interesting that the devil ends up finding out
- 1:28:09that he can't. He says that if you were to jump
- 1:28:11off, he says to Jesus, jump off. Angels would come if you throw
- 1:28:16yourself down. God has promised that He shall
- 1:28:22give you angels, charge over you and they will help you.
- 1:28:26Let you dash like foot on a stone.
- 1:28:29Right. And then after Jesus gets the
- 1:28:32victory here in this brief interaction, but it's probably a
- 1:28:34couple days. I don't know how it worked that
- 1:28:37it says angels at that point came to minister him, which was
- 1:28:41I like that little add on there that it, that Satan was correct,
- 1:28:48but not in that sense because Jesus was not only God, but he
- 1:28:53was flesh at the same time, such that if he were to actually jump
- 1:28:57off, he could have hurt himself or died.
- 1:29:01You know, I don't know. It's it's I'm just sort of
- 1:29:05talking out loud. But I, I think we see that for,
- 1:29:10for me Jesus. I mean, so Satan is naive here
- 1:29:14and didn't know the whole story as the people, as you say from
- 1:29:18First Corinthians 2, they didn't recognize either.
- 1:29:21But that was for God's good purposes.
- 1:29:24And to go back to the problem of evil that you were talking about
- 1:29:26the start bread, that's it is a very evil concept to think of a
- 1:29:32father giving away his son to die for the sake of the wicked.
- 1:29:40And yet that was the plan that God set in motion all all along.
- 1:29:43And it with the resurrection, we can see the story as as a
- 1:29:49beautiful culmination of the love story.
- 1:29:52I think I mean, it's in the sense that we are hardwired to
- 1:29:57love that story of dying for the sake of another without
- 1:30:01consideration of who you're dying for.
- 1:30:04So when, when Harry Potter in the Harry Potter story dies for
- 1:30:08the sake of of all of his crew and all the people and all, all,
- 1:30:13everyone to destroy the evil Voldemort, we love that story.
- 1:30:18And, and we find we make Harry Potter a hero in the same way we
- 1:30:22make Superman a hero or all of these other Christ like figures
- 1:30:26or like the figures I'm wearing the Lord of the Rings shirt
- 1:30:30today, the Tolkien figures that sacrifice themselves for the
- 1:30:33sake of others. But, but God did that himself
- 1:30:37knowing and hardwiring into us that that story, knowing that we
- 1:30:42would find that story very satisfactory.
- 1:30:44And and what do you guys think about that?
- 1:30:47Yeah, my, my Internet was breaking up talking dude, so a
- 1:30:51lot of that I missed. It's OK.
- 1:30:54I was sort of rambling. I'm getting tired, you know, I
- 1:30:56think, I think we've, we've gotten what I wanted out of the
- 1:30:59story today. Was there anything you guys
- 1:31:01wanted? I suppose I could respond.
- 1:31:04There's another way to look at it too, besides the devil being
- 1:31:07naive and the thing, although that is a a fine point that you
- 1:31:11made, We could also look at it as the devil was just simply
- 1:31:15wanting to get Christ to serve him by doing as he commanded and
- 1:31:19asked. I mean, that's the whole thing.
- 1:31:21He wanted to be above God and he wanted to serve him.
- 1:31:25He wanted to be the, you know, the higher power.
- 1:31:28Yeah. But do you want to see something
- 1:31:30cool that, that, that you know why the book of Job is one of my
- 1:31:34favorite books is, you know, a lot of people don't understand
- 1:31:39the, the, the, the, the underlying message here, 'cause,
- 1:31:44you know, you have all of the sons of God gathered together
- 1:31:48in, in God's courtroom and in, in walk Satan, right?
- 1:31:54And so now Satan's going to, you know, and God already knows
- 1:31:57exactly what he's up to. That's why God immediately says,
- 1:32:01what do you think of my servant Job?
- 1:32:03Because that's exactly what Satan was there for in the 1st
- 1:32:07place. And God already knew it.
- 1:32:10And now Satan comes in and says, Hey, y'all?
- 1:32:12Well, only because you give him everything he wants.
- 1:32:15So if you took everything away, you, he would curse you to your
- 1:32:18face. So and if God would have just
- 1:32:20said, OK, I'm done with you, get out of my courtroom.
- 1:32:24He would leave all of the angels with doubt.
- 1:32:27Like why did God just get him out of there?
- 1:32:29Why? You know what I mean?
- 1:32:30What if Satan is right? What if Satan is actually a
- 1:32:32better judge of character than God?
- 1:32:35So now God says, OK, I'm going to let you go ahead and do this.
- 1:32:39I'm going to let you do all this horrible stuff to Job and watch
- 1:32:43God sit there saying you watch Job was never going to turn on
- 1:32:47me. I know you idiots don't know.
- 1:32:50And God, even when he says to Joe, he never apologizes in any
- 1:32:55way when in when the truth of the matter is, you know, God was
- 1:32:59defending your character Job during this whole thing and
- 1:33:04showing us Bible believers in this day and age and all of the
- 1:33:09angels. Don't you ever think that God
- 1:33:12doesn't know that man's heart? Don't kid yourself for a second.
- 1:33:17Yeah, I don't know how to say welcome.
- 1:33:18I didn't get to welcome believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. 777,
- 1:33:22Thanks for being here. A Gray one comes in saying, oh,
- 1:33:24I'm late. Well, yeah, we actually started
- 1:33:26earlier today. So I was going to say it's my
- 1:33:28fault because I started at like 7:00 or a little bit after that.
- 1:33:32Usually I'm trying to do 7:30 Pacific Time.
- 1:33:34So yeah, you watch back. There's good discussion today,
- 1:33:37Gray 1. So thanks for being here.
- 1:33:39Let's close out with the line from Proverbs, one which I like
- 1:33:43that it's at the beginning of the year as the plan is to go
- 1:33:47through the whole Bible by December 31st, that we we get
- 1:33:51this line from Proverbs. The fear of the Lord is the
- 1:33:54beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and
- 1:33:57instruction. I think that evermore and today
- 1:34:03we have such a hatred of authority and I see it in young
- 1:34:08kids and it's getting worse and worse.
- 1:34:10And all we do is we foster that, that that is why kids
- 1:34:14particularly are getting farther and farther from God and from
- 1:34:18instruction, because they're suspicious and leery of any form
- 1:34:27authority of authority, including their own parents
- 1:34:30actually. So how?
- 1:34:31How would they possibly think to look to the Scripture?
- 1:34:35I can't believe that you just said all of this because I mean,
- 1:34:38this is exactly why I've been so eager to talk with you, Rob,
- 1:34:42because you know a little something about contract law and
- 1:34:45stuff. And this is what puzzles me, why
- 1:34:50you know it, even though a brother like me is coming to you
- 1:34:53genuinely and saying, dude, there's huge doctrinal problems
- 1:34:56with all of these other Bible versions.
- 1:34:59We have to have an authority. That's what's happening to
- 1:35:02Christianity Today is there is no authority for doctrine and if
- 1:35:08we all have doctrinal differences then we're all going
- 1:35:11to just sit here and argue and all of the non believers are
- 1:35:14going to go with these idiots. Ain't got it figured out.
- 1:35:17That can't be the truth. Well, I I'd just say that even
- 1:35:21if we had one version of the Bible that we would still have
- 1:35:25doctrinal issues. Yes, some, but believe me, a
- 1:35:28great. Deal of On the huge part, we
- 1:35:31would still have apostolics. Like for example, yeah, just
- 1:35:37Acts 837 real quick, chapter 8, verse 37.
- 1:35:41Yeah, I, I don't want to like, deal with this issue every
- 1:35:44single time. It's like talking with you,
- 1:35:46Brandon. I do appreciate your, Well, give
- 1:35:49me well, 'cause it's like it's one track with everything that
- 1:35:52we're trying to look at, like without having an underlying
- 1:35:56precept as we're reviewing the stuff we like, 'cause when I
- 1:35:59talk to Ace, and I love Ace, Theo too, but everything goes
- 1:36:02back to universalism. And then talking with you,
- 1:36:05everything goes back to the right version.
- 1:36:07So you wanted me to go and I'll do this to throw you a bone.
- 1:36:09Acts 8. Rob, Rob, may I say something?
- 1:36:12One of the reasons why I enjoy listening to you and talking
- 1:36:15with you is because you always organize what it is you're going
- 1:36:18to talk about. And that's good for a guy like
- 1:36:20me because I've got attention deficit disorder and I don't
- 1:36:24like going all over the damn place.
- 1:36:26How about picking with the topics?
- 1:36:28I appreciate you saying but I still I have a tendency to go
- 1:36:31off too so I'm going. To the Bible issue is the most
- 1:36:34all. Right, it's acts Acts 8.
- 1:36:35What? 30 verse 37.
- 1:36:38All right, let's go. Let me just share this 37
- 1:36:46because I I'm putting the whole thing in there so we can read
- 1:36:48context. Then Philip said, if you believe
- 1:36:51with all your heart, you may, and he answered and said, I
- 1:36:56believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God.
- 1:36:59That's that seems to me to be a very good universal way to get
- 1:37:07to salvation. Sure, but.
- 1:37:10That in see, that's why it has that F there is because it's in
- 1:37:15the footnotes. Not, not in the, not in the new
- 1:37:19King James. It's right there.
- 1:37:20Yeah, well, in most. Footnotes.
- 1:37:23Well, let's see what it says F. But that's, you know, This is
- 1:37:27why we have a lot of arguments on baptisms and baby baptisms
- 1:37:33and all of that is because a lot of these versions remove that if
- 1:37:39thou, if thou believest with all thine heart thou.
- 1:37:42Mayest well, that's the same thing.
- 1:37:45This is NKJV and it's I think you need to study the NKJVA
- 1:37:49little bit more because you you think it's the NIV or something
- 1:37:52because it's here. The, the line that you said, I
- 1:37:55think that you wanted me to go there to show that it's not
- 1:37:58there, it's here. It, it has a footnote to explain
- 1:38:01to you that it's in there. the IT is found in Western texts,
- 1:38:05including the Latin tradition. It also happens to be found in
- 1:38:08the NKJV. So I think that, again, like I
- 1:38:13said, if the KJV Bible was the only Bible in English that we
- 1:38:17had, that there would still be Trinitarians versus Apostolic
- 1:38:20Oneness people. There would still be.
- 1:38:22And those are key separations. And to me, I don't think that
- 1:38:26they're salvific. The people just disagree with
- 1:38:29me. I think that.
- 1:38:30I mean, I believe that I have brothers and sisters in Christ
- 1:38:32who are Apostolic and who believe that Jesus is the
- 1:38:36Father, Son and Holy Spirit and things that to me don't make
- 1:38:39sense based on Scripture, even if I read the NIV.
- 1:38:43But that's an aside that I want to get to in order to not not
- 1:38:47have Brett say the opposite of what he said.
- 1:38:49I want to stand topic. Yeah, I've studied out the the
- 1:38:52Bible issue very thoroughly. We'll double check on the NKJV
- 1:38:57because that's two times that you thought the NKJV didn't have
- 1:39:01a verse that you that that does. But see that what I'm pointing
- 1:39:05out though, that's why it has that little F there.
- 1:39:08Yes, now it's sitting in a digital, but I'm telling you.
- 1:39:12But that's what I love. That's what I love about
- 1:39:15Christianity versus something like Islam, because we are on a
- 1:39:20quest for not only knowledge and truth, but for accuracy.
- 1:39:26And what I and what Islam does is a lie and say that the Koran
- 1:39:31is the same as it was the day that it was recited to Muhammad.
- 1:39:36And we know that there's proof that it absolutely is not
- 1:39:39because there's a level of dishonesty in to say it as
- 1:39:43respectfully as I can to Muslims.
- 1:39:46If somebody happens to be watching dishonesty with the
- 1:39:49text. What the NIV does and what this
- 1:39:52footnotes do is they are honest to explain to us historically
- 1:39:57with our word because we don't have the very first Bible.
- 1:40:00And for to you, in fact, the very first Bible is not even
- 1:40:03accurate enough. We had to wait 1600 years to get
- 1:40:06it right. So but we are honest.
- 1:40:09We are honest with the text and. And so I love that about
- 1:40:15Christianity because it is not trying to hide.
- 1:40:18In fact, that's the reason for me.
- 1:40:20And maybe this is a good place for us to land today.
- 1:40:23It's a reason why I feel really comfortable being a Christian
- 1:40:26because when I read the Gospels, when I read the stories of David
- 1:40:33and Bathsheba and Uriah on the front lines, when I read this
- 1:40:37David in the Psalms shouting out happy as he who dashes infants
- 1:40:42heads against the rocks and all of these things.
- 1:40:45I see the good, the bad and the ugly along with the true message
- 1:40:53that it the Bible's trying to convey to us.
- 1:40:56When I see the four gospels and then people say, well, there is
- 1:40:59there 2 angels at the tomb or is there one.
- 1:41:02The bottom line is the same as we talked to tie it into our
- 1:41:05discussion today, we talked about the flood myths, you know,
- 1:41:08these flood stories that vary the undercurrent of it all, and
- 1:41:12this is as a lawyer too did auto accidents.
- 1:41:14There was never a it was very rare that I'd get multiple
- 1:41:18witnesses to a single accident and have them each, to me,
- 1:41:22exactly the same thing. There'd be disparagement.
- 1:41:25It'd be a discrepancy in colors and distances and speed times
- 1:41:31and all of these things. But in the end, in that
- 1:41:34instance, with an auto accident, there's still an underlying auto
- 1:41:36accident. With the flood mythology,
- 1:41:38there's still just a flood. It's good evidence of a flood.
- 1:41:41And in this case, with the Gospels and a couple variations
- 1:41:44in the way the story's told, there's an empty tomb.
- 1:41:47So many differences though man, It's.
- 1:41:51Well, if. You want if you would actually
- 1:41:53take. All I can tell you, I would
- 1:41:54encourage you Brandon and I I'm sure it'll go in one ear and out
- 1:41:59the other. The I can tell you like I'm
- 1:42:02getting edified with the N kg VI studied it with Calvary Chapel
- 1:42:06Malibu for 2 1/2 years. I never lost faith and with the
- 1:42:11NIVI read and I came to faith reading the NIV Bible.
- 1:42:15My pastor, my my the best teacher that I've ever had,
- 1:42:19Pastor Dana Hanson when I got baptized, he gave me an NIV
- 1:42:22Bible that I read cover to cover and I I only got further in
- 1:42:26faith. So I, I would hope that you
- 1:42:28would take a look at Paul who you said today, which confused
- 1:42:31me. That is, is the KJV Bible.
- 1:42:34Read Romans 14 in the KJV and Stew on that.
- 1:42:38And rather than think about food or holidays or Sabbath days or
- 1:42:42moon days, try and turn that into food or drink.
- 1:42:46Put put Bible translation, replace food and drink with
- 1:42:49Bible translation and maybe you'll.
- 1:42:51See that in law, in matters of law, is it OK to, for me to take
- 1:42:58a, a contract between you and I and then go, right, you know,
- 1:43:03just take out a few parts of the contract here and there, write
- 1:43:08up a completely different contract and then bring this
- 1:43:11completely different contract into court to dispute your claim
- 1:43:17versus my claim. You know what I'm saying?
- 1:43:19It happens all the time There are.
- 1:43:21And it's not legal. That have that have.
- 1:43:24Not legal to do that though. There are.
- 1:43:26Yeah, it is. It's.
- 1:43:27Legal for me to go write up a different contract?
- 1:43:31Let me say this that if there are contracts are written where
- 1:43:34there is a line that can be interpreted, and this is to
- 1:43:37perfect for your Bible translations that can be
- 1:43:39interpreted ambiguously. There there there are lines that
- 1:43:43one person, one party can interpret one way and another
- 1:43:45party can interpret another way. There are lines in fact, hold
- 1:43:49on. I know that there are in fact
- 1:43:51lines that could be illegal, but the contract could remain
- 1:43:55enforceable. And usually it's good.
- 1:43:57Contract writing is when I've written contracts, and I've
- 1:44:00written many, to put a provision in there to say that if any one
- 1:44:03of these provisions is somehow illegal or against some state
- 1:44:08law or something, that the rest still remains fully enforceable,
- 1:44:13that those things can be removed from a contract legally by a
- 1:44:19judge determining well. I agree with both parties.
- 1:44:22Yeah, and then the contract still remains enforceable, the
- 1:44:26remainder of it. So the fact of the matter is
- 1:44:29that every version of the Bible that I felt comfortable reading
- 1:44:33so far is the NK, the NKJV, now the NIV, the KJV, which to me
- 1:44:38reads like Shakespeare, gives me a headache.
- 1:44:40So that's why I read plain English versions.
- 1:44:42They all come to the same contractual conclusion that
- 1:44:46Jesus is the way, the truth and the in the life and no one comes
- 1:44:49to the Father except through him.
- 1:44:51And as it says here, if you believe with all your heart, you
- 1:44:55can be baptized your position. There, I actually agree with you
- 1:45:00on that as well, Rob. I have a some software crosswalk
- 1:45:04bible.com and I look up the many different translations whenever
- 1:45:08I'm discussing something to make sure that I'm on the money.
- 1:45:12So I think it's fine. I don't see much difference.
- 1:45:15The only difference is is that the King James.
- 1:45:18There's definitely more Shakespeare, more thou this,
- 1:45:21thou that, but it's all the. Same moving the bees and the
- 1:45:25vows in that then you start introducing legal ambiguity.
- 1:45:30I don't think that there's actually any Christians who are
- 1:45:33actually reading the Bible or any of these translations.
- 1:45:36If they're actually reading that, there's not really a
- 1:45:38difference. The message is the same.
- 1:45:41Now you're quite. Really quick now you guys are
- 1:45:44claiming then that God chose to preserve his message and not his
- 1:45:49word. That's problem.
- 1:45:52It's this. It's the same thing.
- 1:45:54No, it's not the. It is to me because when I say
- 1:45:56that the Bible, when I say that the Bible's infallible, I, I
- 1:46:00mean it the underlying message and the purposes.
- 1:46:03Go to your new King James Version and go to Acts 12 verse
- 1:46:064. Let's see if it.
- 1:46:08Says we're, we're done. We're done with that question,
- 1:46:10Brandon, I feel like we're we're done.
- 1:46:12We're done with the discussion. It's we're not going to reach
- 1:46:15you well. They're not going.
- 1:46:17To your your original topic, Rob, if you don't mind me
- 1:46:20helping you get it back, back with about children.
- 1:46:23Children and children, thank you for joining us.
- 1:46:26And I don't mean to be rude, but Brett has a point.
- 1:46:28And you're. Interrupting.
- 1:46:30No, you just. Want to God bless you Brandon.
- 1:46:33Dominate the room is what you want to do.
- 1:46:35Yeah, have a good day, guys. Take care, all righty.
- 1:46:38So you were talking about children who have basically
- 1:46:41disrespected authority. And I've, I've been locked under
- 1:46:45that topic. I, I don't mean to be mean, Rob,
- 1:46:48but I like your topics and I want to stick with them.
- 1:46:50I don't want to go all over the place with whatever that was.
- 1:46:54No, no, that's I I think I was about to remove him and he said
- 1:46:58he got the message. So Brandon I again to to just
- 1:47:03say I respect. I appreciate we, we got to some
- 1:47:05good points today with Brandon, But we if it's the same, maybe
- 1:47:10Ace Theo knows it would be the same if Ace Theo hasn't come in
- 1:47:13here because everything goes to universalism with Ace.
- 1:47:17Everything goes to the KJV in this contract thing.
- 1:47:20And Brandon, you could be right, brother, but it's it's not
- 1:47:25something that you're, I want to focus on more than just what the
- 1:47:29right scripture is. I want to focus on what the word
- 1:47:31is saying to us, and I think at very least, Brandon, you should
- 1:47:36respect that and I hope that you will in the future.
- 1:47:38So you. Could always advise too that if
- 1:47:41there's anybody out there in the audience that thinks that myself
- 1:47:45or Rob is wrong about anything, you're more than welcome to open
- 1:47:49up your own live shows and moan and groan for three hours about
- 1:47:52it. But I'd like to actually stick
- 1:47:54on Rob's topic. He is the host of The Room.
- 1:47:57Yeah, and that's OK. We're we're done.
- 1:47:59I, I thought, Brett, I really appreciate your, your
- 1:48:01contribution. Stay.
- 1:48:02It was very, very good. We were blowing smoke at each
- 1:48:06other, pray. We were love bombing each other
- 1:48:08a little bit. We don't have to love bomb so
- 1:48:09much, but I do to continue the love bomb though that I, I do
- 1:48:14respect your opinion and I do I, I think that you reason through
- 1:48:19stuff and always have, even as an atheist very well.
- 1:48:22And I always enjoy speaking to you and listening to you.
- 1:48:25So thank you for joining. Do you want to continue on about
- 1:48:29the topic about children of authority?
- 1:48:31Yeah, yeah, yeah. Please, that.
- 1:48:32That'll be the place where we'll land the plane.
- 1:48:35Thank you. I think that it's one of the
- 1:48:37reasons why young people are having problems with authority
- 1:48:41is a lot of parents nowadays are not teaching their children or
- 1:48:45guiding them. Sometimes it's not intentional.
- 1:48:48Sometimes parents work all day long and they don't have time to
- 1:48:52actually give guidance. And they kind of like let the
- 1:48:55government as well, well as the schools be the parents for them.
- 1:48:59And that's where we're having a problem because the education
- 1:49:02system and politics are always going bad.
- 1:49:05The kid doesn't have any reason whatsoever to trust the system
- 1:49:09anymore. And then they're told they're
- 1:49:11going to go into debt if they try to go to college or
- 1:49:13universities or anything. So they start losing hope very
- 1:49:17young. And I can understand where
- 1:49:19they're at on that. Yeah, me too.
- 1:49:22And it's, it's because of that, I, I think that there's been a
- 1:49:26softening of parenting. There's been a we're, we're not
- 1:49:31only afraid to offend each other, which has led to a
- 1:49:35substantial amount of the destruction of our social
- 1:49:39contract, if you will, but particularly with our children,
- 1:49:42you know, to the point where there's rules like you can't
- 1:49:44even spank a kid without fear of being called by child support
- 1:49:48services it to try and discipline a child.
- 1:49:52The, the, we've just gotten so soft.
- 1:49:56And in that softness, we have a bunch of kids who are growing up
- 1:50:02in a world where they think that there is no truth, that there is
- 1:50:07everything's all good. And then whatever Jacuzzi
- 1:50:10theology, theology or Jacuzzi, I should say, ideology, you want
- 1:50:15to jump in that makes you feel nice and comfortable in the
- 1:50:17bubbles. It's all good.
- 1:50:20Do do what you want, do what you want.
- 1:50:22As long as you feel good about it there, there's nothing,
- 1:50:25nothing wrong. And we're seeing that actually
- 1:50:28in some of the Christian communities here being led by
- 1:50:31agnostics that are focused on the right now, they're focused
- 1:50:38very interestingly on, on there not being any absolute truth
- 1:50:42that we could be wrong. And that is the undercurrent of
- 1:50:47everything. But why would you, why would you
- 1:50:50take to a, a, an ideology? Why would you embrace an
- 1:50:56ideology if you didn't think it was correct?
- 1:50:57Nobody does that. So yeah, in every instance, I
- 1:51:01can say everything that I believe.
- 1:51:02I could be wrong, I could the Bible could be totally false,
- 1:51:06and I could be just a a brain and a VAT connected with tubes.
- 1:51:11And then I everything I see, including the Bible's a
- 1:51:14simulation, right? Yeah, sure.
- 1:51:17But we can't live life like that.
- 1:51:19We have to live life with the ability to recognize truth and
- 1:51:25to reason through to see if something is justified, if that
- 1:51:30our that our opinion of truth on a matter, our belief of truth on
- 1:51:35a matter is justified. And when I read the Bible, and
- 1:51:38particularly when I read the Old Testament with the messianic
- 1:51:41prophecies into the New Testament, the fabric stitches
- 1:51:45together so nicely for me that I cannot help but conclude that
- 1:51:49everything that we're told, the underlying messages we talked
- 1:51:52about today in the New Testament, that Jesus is the
- 1:51:55promised Messiah who was not only just some man or an Angel
- 1:51:58coming from outer space or wherever he came from, but that
- 1:52:01he's God manifest in the flesh. And he came to earth to
- 1:52:06reconcile his ultimate creation with it, to bring in his
- 1:52:10ultimate plan of relationship with that creation.
- 1:52:14And it's a beautiful love story. And it's the love story that I
- 1:52:16want to share with everyone who doesn't.
- 1:52:18I know it in hopes that I can tell them that I believe that to
- 1:52:22be the truth. Like that line that Jesus says I
- 1:52:24am the way, the truth and the life.
- 1:52:26Jesus doesn't say I could be wrong, right?
- 1:52:30Exactly. And as far as people who go on
- 1:52:34about, you know, these people who take on like either nihilism
- 1:52:38or agnosticism where they say there can't be any absolute
- 1:52:40truth. I mean, I'm, you know me, I'm
- 1:52:43snarky. I say, well, if you don't have
- 1:52:45any truth and why am I listening to you?
- 1:52:47Right, right, exactly. That's the the I did have a
- 1:52:50conversation with that particular agnostic and that was
- 1:52:53ultimately the point I made, which is like if, if, why, why
- 1:52:57would I listen to anyone that just says, you know, here,
- 1:53:00here's here's what you should do, here's how you should think
- 1:53:03I could be wrong. OK, You know, I mean it's.
- 1:53:07Easy, Rob, to just sit back and tell somebody that everything
- 1:53:11they think is wrong. We'll give an explanation,
- 1:53:14explain why it's not a truth. See, I believe that humans, not
- 1:53:18just religiously, spiritually, but even on a scientific level,
- 1:53:22we need structure, we need to have morals and ethics.
- 1:53:26We need to have goals to move towards.
- 1:53:28If we don't, then what is the value of life?
- 1:53:31Life and existence. None at all.
- 1:53:33And that's why I said fools despise wisdom and instruction.
- 1:53:37And so I see in these people that we're we're alluding to
- 1:53:42that they don't have authority. They don't want authority.
- 1:53:45They are their authority and what they believe they can never
- 1:53:49consider. So like when Brandon talked to
- 1:53:52me, I'll I'll consider it. It just, it makes no sense to me
- 1:53:57that, for instance, we were without a written word of God, a
- 1:54:02contract if you will, for 1600 years after Jesus's death.
- 1:54:06Makes no sense for for to me for a Christian to say that because
- 1:54:101600 years is a long time. And that's Islam's position as
- 1:54:16well. And they were 600 years.
- 1:54:19So I would I should I trust Islam because it's closer in
- 1:54:23time to Jesus? Although they changed the story
- 1:54:26because it came 1000 years before King James was born.
- 1:54:30I I don't think that it's possible for Christians, Jews or
- 1:54:35anybody including atheists to put any trust into Islam.
- 1:54:39They're taught to kill Christians and people of non
- 1:54:43beliefs and all that. And they're also encouraged that
- 1:54:46in times of war, which they think it's always war time, that
- 1:54:49they can lie. And as long as their religion
- 1:54:52teaches that, they're nothing more than a death cult to me.
- 1:54:55Yeah, and I would agree. It's the Quran specifically says
- 1:54:59that Jews and Christians are the worst of all creatures.
- 1:55:03It's hard to reconcile that and say, hey brother, come to
- 1:55:07dinner, right? Yeah, it's, I've even, I've
- 1:55:12attempted many times, even talked to what they call
- 1:55:15moderates and they all want Suria law, even though they
- 1:55:18sound more civilized and sophisticated.
- 1:55:21I can't be under Suria law. It would be terrible for women
- 1:55:25and children. And and of course, if you
- 1:55:27disagree, you're going to be without a head.
- 1:55:30So no, thank you for that. Right.
- 1:55:32And that's, it's a tough thing because in the end, even those
- 1:55:36who say, well, you know, I don't know about Sharia law and, and
- 1:55:42bringing that in, I've, I've heard Muslims say, oh, no,
- 1:55:45that's not our motivation. And that's great.
- 1:55:47But it might be the truth. It might be people that that's,
- 1:55:50that believe, well, Islam's a religion of peace.
- 1:55:53And when we take over, it's not going to, you know, you can do
- 1:55:56what you want to do, and we'll do what we want to do, No.
- 1:55:59Rob, as we speak, they're actually killing innocent
- 1:56:03Iranians right now in the street that are trying to take down the
- 1:56:07regime. Now they're not.
- 1:56:09They're not at peace at all. Yeah, the world is a is an
- 1:56:12interesting place and you see it's as we started and we'll
- 1:56:15bookend it, that it is us. It's the human that brings
- 1:56:20through evil and based on simple ideology and under the name of
- 1:56:26God in some cases, as you're saying, which makes it even
- 1:56:29sadder. There are people killing other
- 1:56:31people as we speak right now, and that evil is being committed
- 1:56:37by humans. It's being allowed by God, and
- 1:56:40that is a great mystery. But again, I say as planting, it
- 1:56:43says in The Problem of Evil. This is a book that I recommend,
- 1:56:46but it's very difficult. It was hard for me to process
- 1:56:49and I'm not even on it. For sure.
- 1:56:50It's not sure that I did that. It is impossible.
- 1:56:54Planting. It comes to the conclusion it's
- 1:56:55impossible for God to have created a world, any given world
- 1:57:00that included human free will, and not have evil occur because
- 1:57:06the free will enables us to choose to do what is right, that
- 1:57:10we can feel written on our hearts or not.
- 1:57:13And that's interesting. Yeah, I think that the paradigm
- 1:57:17that Christians find themselves in, how you doing this, Smokey
- 1:57:20St. The paradigm that we find
- 1:57:22yourself in, Rob, is that we want to serve Christ and love
- 1:57:25our enemies and do unto others. But we have to remember God
- 1:57:29never told us that we need to be a punching bag and fall on our
- 1:57:32own sword. We have to draw a line and say,
- 1:57:35look, you, you can't just come into our lands and then take
- 1:57:40over. That's the reason why the
- 1:57:42Crusades happen. A lot of atheists like to bring
- 1:57:45that up. But if someone tried to come
- 1:57:47into their home and take everything from them, would they
- 1:57:50not fight back? Would they not do what they need
- 1:57:52to do? And the Old Testament even shows
- 1:57:55that when people tried to take land, eventually God said, all
- 1:57:58right, they're not going to stop, and I don't want you to
- 1:58:01die. So get in there and take those
- 1:58:03jackasses out. You know it is what it is.
- 1:58:07Yep, Yep. And so I, I think that's the
- 1:58:09great, one of the greatest things about Judeo-christian
- 1:58:12philosophy is also its potential downfall if we are too liberal
- 1:58:17with it, is that, yes, we want a world where people can exist
- 1:58:22together with different theologies, different
- 1:58:24ideologies, but it's never at the expense of that philosophy.
- 1:58:33I'm trying to reason it correctly.
- 1:58:34In other words, if one of your theologies or your ideologies
- 1:58:38contradicts that, we need to fight against that.
- 1:58:43And it, Islam has to, happens to be exactly that, that if an
- 1:58:49Islamic regime, if Islamic theology takes over, then there
- 1:58:54are not the judeo-christian freedoms that we have been given
- 1:58:57that exists in the Western world.
- 1:58:59There it it is not to choose God.
- 1:59:02It is you must obey Allah, our God, the Islam God.
- 1:59:08And that is something that's very dangerous that we need to
- 1:59:11be very cognizant of. But there's a tide turning and
- 1:59:16the only way that you can fight those things is to, is to gain
- 1:59:21knowledge. And I think it is, it is
- 1:59:24incumbent upon every Christian. And it's starting to happen.
- 1:59:27And I can see it and it's beautiful, particularly on
- 1:59:29YouTube. And it's starting to spread out
- 1:59:31because you'll see folks on Piers Morgan and these other
- 1:59:34places starting to talk about the problems with Islam that it
- 1:59:39is incumbent upon us to learn. So we got to read these things.
- 1:59:43We've got to. And so I, I'll try and mix some
- 1:59:45of that in. I, it's still my intention.
- 1:59:47I did a video on the Islamic dilemma, but we need to follow
- 1:59:51look up the Islamic dilemma. I tell my Christian brothers and
- 1:59:54sisters and and see and just know that argument.
- 1:59:58And the argument is that in in both instances, if if the Bible
- 2:00:03is true like that Islam says that Bible or the a Muslim says
- 2:00:08today that the Bible's corrupt. If that is true, then the Quran
- 2:00:13is false. And because it affirms our
- 2:00:18previous scriptures and never says that it's corrupt.
- 2:00:20And at the same time, if the Bible is not corrupt our
- 2:00:24scripture, it says that Jesus was crucified, died and was
- 2:00:28buried and the Koran denies that specifically and which would
- 2:00:33also mean that the Quran is false.
- 2:00:35So the Quran is an Islam itself is in a catch 22 because it's
- 2:00:39wrong either way. And the only way we can argue
- 2:00:43that and present it to a Muslim in hopes that they'll gain the
- 2:00:45knowledge and have the fear of the Lord as the beginning of
- 2:00:48knowledge, as we read today, is to know that basic kind of
- 2:00:53thing. And, and a couple of verses I
- 2:00:55would tell you to look in Surah 3 and Surah 5, particularly
- 2:00:58Surah 5 for those kind of arguments and factoids.
- 2:01:03We'll close with Miss Smokey St. saying fun fact, when modern
- 2:01:06Muslims are surveyed about their actual beliefs, they are
- 2:01:08actually aligned with extremism. That's scary and it's really,
- 2:01:11really sad. But the way to try, yeah, to try
- 2:01:15and correct that is to is to teach and hope that if a Muslim
- 2:01:23that we encounter and who happens to be a person of peace,
- 2:01:26they really, really love God and trust in God.
- 2:01:29They will see the contradiction of the holy book of Islam and
- 2:01:33come to the way, the truth and the life, recognizing Jesus not
- 2:01:37just as a prophet, which he was, not just as a man, which he was,
- 2:01:41but as the God manifest in the flesh, the way, the truth and
- 2:01:45the life. Who is the only way, as he said,
- 2:01:48the only way. There's He's the way to get to
- 2:01:53the Father, to get to God, to get to an Arabic Allah.
- 2:01:58You want me to point out something neat to you?
- 2:02:00Neat for you if you ever run into a Muslim?
- 2:02:03Yeah, well, a lot of Muslims like to push the idea that they
- 2:02:06respect Jesus and that he was nothing more than a man, that he
- 2:02:10wasn't even crucified. But check this out.
- 2:02:13Did you know that there's even passages that imply that he was
- 2:02:17executed and #2 they actually believe he was born of a virgin.
- 2:02:22So he was nothing more than a man.
- 2:02:23Then why did he have the divine birth?
- 2:02:26Why did he have the Immaculate birth for if he was nothing more
- 2:02:29than a human? It goes even farther than that
- 2:02:32because do you know where Jesus is right now in Islam theology?
- 2:02:39Well, they would. I would suspect that they would
- 2:02:41have to believe that he would be dead.
- 2:02:43But I think on a philosophical level, they believe that he's
- 2:02:46actually with God. He's with the father, he's with
- 2:02:49Allah. They wouldn't call him the
- 2:02:51father because the Quran actually specifically says that
- 2:02:56that Allah is a father to no one he's with currently.
- 2:03:00He is with an Islamic theology with God, in other words, at the
- 2:03:06right hand, presumably right? Which is so it.
- 2:03:10That's interesting in and of itself.
- 2:03:12Jesus is the special beyond Muhammad because Muhammad's in
- 2:03:15the grave the the the Islam. A Muslim believes that Jesus is
- 2:03:20with God right now, waiting for the moment, not only what you
- 2:03:24said about him being the Messiah and born of the virgin.
- 2:03:26They actually believe that Jesus is going to come again to judge
- 2:03:29the living and the dead. How about that?
- 2:03:32Yeah, that definitely shows that he's not just a normal man.
- 2:03:35Even in their own stuff, a lot of Christians should actually.
- 2:03:38I know some Christians are like, well, if it's not in the Bible,
- 2:03:41I'm not going to read it. If you want to understand your
- 2:03:44opponent through your enemy, knowledge is power.
- 2:03:47You guys need to sit down sometime.
- 2:03:49I know Rob has obviously studied it, but for people out there
- 2:03:53listening, you need to read the information.
- 2:03:55That way you know what you're dealing with before it's too
- 2:03:58late. Yeah, Amen.
- 2:04:00And yeah, it could be too. One day it will be.
- 2:04:03And I know I saw a good news gospel in the chat.
- 2:04:05God bless you, Bill. Thanks for being here.
- 2:04:07Happy New year. If I haven't said it so far, I'm
- 2:04:09going to put that down below, which is from our reading today,
- 2:04:12Proverbs one, verse 7. That's the goal.
- 2:04:16And if we fear the Lord, and that isn't like it's a healthy
- 2:04:20fear, it's an acknowledgement of God who has the ability, as we
- 2:04:25read today with Noah, to just destroy all things, but he's
- 2:04:29promised not to. So that awe that we have of God
- 2:04:34it we owe it to him as one of our ways to worship him by not
- 2:04:38only singing music, which I love to do writing music as I love to
- 2:04:42do. I know you do too Brett, but to
- 2:04:44in our choices worship him and one of the greatest ways to
- 2:04:49choose God and to choose to be in relationship with him is to
- 2:04:54read the scripture. So I encourage everyone watching
- 2:04:58to continue to join me on this journey tomorrow, hopefully in
- 2:05:03the morning about 7:30 or so, it it has to be between 7:00 and
- 2:05:077:30 Pacific Time. We'll be back reading the word
- 2:05:09again. And so Brett, on that note, I
- 2:05:12appreciate you joining me. It was very, very edifying
- 2:05:15discussion for me today. So thank you for being here and
- 2:05:18I hope to talk with you soon. Well, Rob, it's good for me too,
- 2:05:21I believe it or not. I know some people out there
- 2:05:24think I'm a wise old Hobbit over here, but it's good for me to
- 2:05:28have fellows. Jeff.
- 2:05:29It really it helps me and fills my cup as well.
- 2:05:34If you don't mind, I would like to ask permission after this
- 2:05:37video renders. May I put it up on GOD TV Radio?
- 2:05:41Sure. Yeah, you could.
- 2:05:43You could take any of it if you think that it's worthwhile or
- 2:05:45clip it. You know, clip because there's
- 2:05:47some parts I have a tendency to ramble, so feel free to add it.
- 2:05:50No, I think it's all good man. That's why I'm asking you
- 2:05:53permission. I don't like you've.
- 2:05:55Got it, you've got it. You're not a turnip.
- 2:05:58That's an inside joke. You don't know.
- 2:06:00So God bless you and your family, Brett.
- 2:06:02Have a happy new year and I I hope that we'll be doing some
- 2:06:05more studies together. And on that note, we're, we're
- 2:06:12done. I think that I'm going to, I
- 2:06:14think we're going to end with a song that I enjoy called We're
- 2:06:17the disciples, if I still have it on here, which is how we
- 2:06:21sharpen iron. We, we gain knowledge, we read
- 2:06:25the scriptures and we hope with the indwelling of the Holy
- 2:06:29Spirit that we have that Lovejoy, peace, kindness,
- 2:06:34self-control, peace that surpasses all understanding.
- 2:06:38That's the the goal. And there's not enough of that.
- 2:06:41I don't see that in Christian circles that I happen to inhabit
- 2:06:45here. So I'm hoping to, with the help
- 2:06:48of God, to be a source of that kind of peace here.
- 2:06:52And the only way we really can do is just kind of absorb, try
- 2:06:55not to get into conflict on the isms and the Bible versions and
- 2:07:01all that stuff. Let's just let the word.
- 2:07:03And if you think that in a given reading, that's why I'm asking
- 2:07:07you. For instance, if you're KJV only
- 2:07:12to read the the next day's, you can go to the Bible app, the
- 2:07:17links in the description, read the next day's Scripture.
- 2:07:22And then when you hear me read it in KGV.
- 2:07:25Tell me where there's this horrific difference that totally
- 2:07:31changes the message. And I suspect that we're not
- 2:07:35going to find it. But you know, that's my little
- 2:07:38presupposition there. But I, I'm, I want to learn and
- 2:07:42I don't know everything. And this is one of the ways that
- 2:07:45it with reasonable discussion that I can be edified and to be
- 2:07:51corrected, certainly, possibly at the same time.
- 2:07:55Thank you for joining. This is we're the disciples.
- 2:07:57This is the message in this underlying song that if we work
- 2:08:02together, we can lead others to the feet of the cross.
- 2:08:06God bless. And we'll see you tomorrow, 7:00
- 2:08:08to 7:30, maybe more like 715 Pacific Standard Time with the
- 2:08:13next reading. Take care.
