Transcript
- 0:04Speaker 1: Hey, it's Alex Garrett. One leg up Alex, and we
- 0:07Speaker 1: are in twenty twenty six, which means one lug up
- 0:09Speaker 1: Alex in twenty twenty six. Tune in. We've just published
- 0:13Speaker 1: over fifteen hundred episodes in twelve years, with more TOICOM.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Thanks to you out there listening. One lag Up Alex
- 0:20Speaker 1: in twenty twenty six. Well, as I watched Tom Holman
- 0:25Speaker 1: on the screen today, I can already tell you what
- 0:28Speaker 1: I've been thinking in twenty twenty. Obviously, the ice situation
- 0:35Speaker 1: was not as intense or there wasn't a crisis with it,
- 0:38Speaker 1: but there was that whole disaster of rioting and I
- 0:45Speaker 1: don't know, burning down buildings. I remember Minneapolis Mayor Fry,
- 0:49Speaker 1: the very Mayor Fry today is the same guy that
- 0:53Speaker 1: called off the police from their own department. They didn't
- 0:57Speaker 1: want you didn't want to protect the police departments building
- 1:01Speaker 1: the Precinct III. He said, let it burn down. We
- 1:04Speaker 1: can always build a new one. But that wasn't the point.
- 1:08Speaker 1: The point was you were letting anarchy take over the
- 1:10Speaker 1: streets of Minneapolis. I almost wish Tom Holman was sent
- 1:15Speaker 1: in then because the triangulation situation we're seeing now between
- 1:20Speaker 1: him and Walls and Fry and throw Trump in the mix.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Is exactly why Trump needed to be the present in
- 1:30Speaker 1: this moment. I cannot condone what happened to either Good
- 1:39Speaker 1: or Preetty. I cannot. But I also believe in letting
- 1:44Speaker 1: law enforcement do their job. And I've said that before.
- 1:48Speaker 1: I've also believed in law enforcement doing their job. But
- 1:53Speaker 1: here's the thing. Finally, instead of being ICE Director, Tom
- 1:58Speaker 1: Holman could play a bigger role here in twenty twenty six,
- 2:02Speaker 1: and I'm glad he was sent in. I wish he
- 2:05Speaker 1: was sent in twenty twenty. But if Trump can do
- 2:08Speaker 1: this triangulation almost like he did in twenty twenty where
- 2:12Speaker 1: apparently he did praise Walls for the efforts to quell
- 2:16Speaker 1: those riots after the George Floyd murder, and it reminded
- 2:22Speaker 1: me today also of what we saw six years ago
- 2:26Speaker 1: here in New York, Trump's home city, bricks thrown at windows.
- 2:36Speaker 1: I saw boarded up buildings in New York during the
- 2:39Speaker 1: pandemic and the riots, and I remember specifically he told
- 2:46Speaker 1: Andrew Cuomo, who was governor at the time, if you
- 2:53Speaker 1: do not put an end to this, I will send
- 2:56Speaker 1: in the National Guard. He threatened to put in the
- 2:59Speaker 1: National Guard, and then all of a sudden, one night,
- 3:02Speaker 1: in the middle of that quote unquote summer of love,
- 3:04Speaker 1: it all ended one night, Cuomo finally manned the f
- 3:08Speaker 1: up and stopped it. And we're gonna have to see
- 3:12Speaker 1: those efforts here because as bad as those that shooting is,
- 3:18Speaker 1: and really those shootings are, the unrest and the riley
- 3:24Speaker 1: up by the protesters the anarchists should also be noted here.
- 3:32Speaker 1: So if Walls and Trump and fried Homan can find
- 3:37Speaker 1: a way to end that disaster, hum, I think it
- 3:43Speaker 1: would be a major, major win again for the Trump
- 3:49Speaker 1: And I agree with those that say he may not
- 3:52Speaker 1: and I say it may not have cared about the
- 3:54Speaker 1: family of Preetty as much as he cares about how
- 3:58Speaker 1: bad this looks. But the shooting on both sides from
- 4:03Speaker 1: Saturday should be the turning point. It should be that
- 4:09Speaker 1: moment where Andrew Cuomo deployed the full force to stop
- 4:14Speaker 1: the damn rioting in New York City. This should be
- 4:17Speaker 1: that moment for Tim Walls right now. And I agree
- 4:23Speaker 1: Walls and Trump needed a to talk. But we've seen
- 4:27Speaker 1: this before. We've seen Trump working with the governors of
- 4:34Speaker 1: a blue state, you know, to try and call the unrest.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Why why are there never unrest in red states? Can
- 4:40Speaker 1: someone explain that to me? By the way, it's always
- 4:44Speaker 1: unrest in a blue, blue, blue, blue blue blue state
- 4:48Speaker 1: like Minneapolis, or like Minnesota should say, or like New York.
- 4:55Speaker 1: But as Trump's trying to also invent mistigate these guys
- 5:01Speaker 1: for all the fraud that they have let go on
- 5:03Speaker 1: in their state, he's trying to work with him to
- 5:05Speaker 1: quality unrest and then now and I applaud him for that,
- 5:09Speaker 1: and we've seen him do it before. Minnesotans do not
- 5:15Speaker 1: want to be living in this kind of disaster zone again.
- 5:23Speaker 1: And I'm sure Tim Walls and Mayor Fry know this.
- 5:28Speaker 1: You would have to believe, but I think the main
- 5:32Speaker 1: player here, unlike six years ago, will be Tom Holman.
- 5:37Speaker 1: And I find it so interesting because I remember when
- 5:39Speaker 1: the media was so focused on whether Holman was going
- 5:42Speaker 1: to crack down on New York and he was in
- 5:43Speaker 1: New York with Mayor Adams. Well, guess what, he never
- 5:48Speaker 1: had to deal with this crap in New York City.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Thank god, thank god, we've not had to deal with
- 5:54Speaker 1: this crap. So he never really had to come in
- 5:59Speaker 1: and straighten But of course he has to straighten out
- 6:03Speaker 1: the stubborn, you know, and Fry has not been reacting
- 6:12Speaker 1: well to this. I get you want ICE removed, but
- 6:22Speaker 1: you're also cursing out law enforcement. Not every ICE agent,
- 6:26Speaker 1: I want to believe is a bad person. But if
- 6:29Speaker 1: we can see sweeping changes with the ICE, that would
- 6:32Speaker 1: be important. Maybe Christinom isn't the answer for DHS. I
- 6:39Speaker 1: don't know, but I'm seeing what I saw it six
- 6:43Speaker 1: years ago. I can come at this with an historical
- 6:45Speaker 1: perspective in a sense, because I saw how Trump stepped
- 6:49Speaker 1: in when it was the worst of the worst of
- 6:51Speaker 1: New York City and he told Cuomo, Hey, you gotta
- 6:56Speaker 1: end this now or I will send in the National Guard.
- 7:03Speaker 1: And guess what, In one night, Cuomo ended it just
- 7:07Speaker 1: like that, just like that. So I'm very very intrigued
- 7:13Speaker 1: by this next edition of Triangulation or whatever you want
- 7:17Speaker 1: to call it, with Tom Holman in the mix, because
- 7:23Speaker 1: I think Holman will go in there and fix it
- 7:24Speaker 1: right up. Whether you agree with him or not, his
- 7:28Speaker 1: demeanor will fix it right on the spot. And don't
- 7:32Speaker 1: we want to have peace? See, no one really talks
- 7:37Speaker 1: about this, but when there was peace between Israel, Helmas
- 7:41Speaker 1: actually free Palace. I was pretty pissed because there was
- 7:43Speaker 1: nothing to complain about, was there? So like this unrest?
- 7:48Speaker 1: When there's peace, the agitators have nothing to complain about,
- 7:51Speaker 1: and all they want to do is have something to
- 7:52Speaker 1: complain and riot about. Well, well let's not give them that.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Let's have one leg up over the agitators. While agreeing
- 8:03Speaker 1: that the shooting of Good and Well Good is a
- 8:07Speaker 1: different story, I mean she was driving toward them. I'm
- 8:12Speaker 1: not in the law enforcement shoes to completely condemn them.
- 8:16Speaker 1: I'm not Prietti pumping him with ten bullets. That one.
- 8:21Speaker 1: I don't understand. I don't understand that one. While I'm
- 8:25Speaker 1: coming at this from a how do we get this resolved?
- 8:28Speaker 1: And right now we're seeing Trump do what he did
- 8:31Speaker 1: in twenty twenty with Cuomo and I guess the Blaza
- 8:34Speaker 1: to an extent, which was to correct the mess and
- 8:47Speaker 1: stop the rioting. And we need to see that here.
- 8:53Speaker 1: We need to see the protesters and the unrest quelled
- 8:57Speaker 1: before worse happens. And on the adaptive side, I have
- 9:04Speaker 1: to go through this with you at some point because
- 9:08Speaker 1: I was trying to see so how many ice detainees
- 9:11Speaker 1: are disabled, and I have to take a look at
- 9:13Speaker 1: this and do a deep dive because I do believe
- 9:14Speaker 1: on the adaptive side of the one like up network,
- 9:17Speaker 1: we have to cover that too, because they say on
- 9:20Speaker 1: the DHS website they do make sure ICE detainees who
- 9:24Speaker 1: are disabled have accommodations, which I think is interesting. But
- 9:33Speaker 1: I want to deep dive and do more research on
- 9:35Speaker 1: that before I come to you with those story as well.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Look in twenty twenty six, I want to talk more
- 9:41Speaker 1: about adaptability. I feel like I do talk about sports
- 9:44Speaker 1: and news and that's my passions too, but I'm also
- 9:48Speaker 1: about adaptability and accessibility and accountability and I need to
- 9:52Speaker 1: get back on that track and maybe take what's happening
- 9:57Speaker 1: current events and make it adaptive spun How do we
- 10:01Speaker 1: look at this from the accessibility the adaptability front. Hell
- 10:09Speaker 1: ICE also hires people with disabilities, which is interesting to me. Also,
- 10:13Speaker 1: I mean, it's a very tough job. It's a very
- 10:17Speaker 1: tough job, and I want to do my research further
- 10:20Speaker 1: on that. But for now, if you're not happy Trump
- 10:25Speaker 1: is a stepping in, then you weren't around or you
- 10:27Speaker 1: don't remember six years ago when our city was burning
- 10:31Speaker 1: up pretty much and all insane, to the point where
- 10:39Speaker 1: buildings were boarded up. Dwayne Reid was boarded up. I
- 10:42Speaker 1: remember that vividly. Bricks were being thrown through windows. It
- 10:46Speaker 1: was awful. It was chaos. But you should be happy
- 10:53Speaker 1: that the triangulation, I'm gonna call it the Trump triangulation,
- 11:00Speaker 1: is quelling the unrest because you could say he started
- 11:04Speaker 1: the fire by unleashing the hounds and unleashing Ice to
- 11:07Speaker 1: do this and the other. But on the other side,
- 11:15Speaker 1: at least when they do protests in places like Port Washington,
- 11:19Speaker 1: when Fernando was taken by Ice, it was a peaceful protest.
- 11:26Speaker 1: But in cities where they are extremely blue and unhinged
- 11:33Speaker 1: almost it's like these officials don't care if it gets
- 11:40Speaker 1: to violence or not. They don't care. They should care,
- 11:44Speaker 1: but they don't care. But we should care. Here are
- 11:52Speaker 1: the one look up network that there's a way to protest.
- 11:56Speaker 1: And I was Preetty bringing a gun to the protest?
- 11:59Speaker 1: Why why do that at the beginning to begin with?
- 12:08Speaker 1: But we need to make sure we can differentiate between
- 12:11Speaker 1: peaceful protests and agitating and rioting and anarchy, because if
- 12:18Speaker 1: we don't, then more people be emboldened to try and
- 12:26Speaker 1: do more harm. But I think in this moment, the
- 12:30Speaker 1: Trump triangulation is going to work. It is working, and
- 12:36Speaker 1: as much of a slub that Walls is, I think
- 12:38Speaker 1: he needs that help from home and the Trump. So
- 12:43Speaker 1: I don't tell this episode the Trump triangulation effect, because
- 12:48Speaker 1: that Trump triangulation will bring peace to Minneapolis for the
- 12:53Speaker 1: better of Minnesotans.
