- 0:25Music. Welcome back to the Delmgree
- 0:46Corner podcast, a part of the College Huddle network along
- 0:49with my partner, Brian Siegler, Jonathan Talley and Shelton
- 0:52Moss. I am Curtis Wilson and as
- 0:54always, we will you by Doctor Jeremy Kell down at Kells Family
- 0:58Pharmacy, your friendly neighborhood pharmacy located at
- 1:01three O 1 S Main St. in Blacksburg.
- 1:05And before we get everything started tonight, because we got
- 1:09obviously a lot to unload. We have been preaching the last
- 1:11three weeks. We had something to give away.
- 1:15We've been asking people put 1999 in the chat.
- 1:18Well over 100 people did that and subscribe to the YouTube
- 1:22channel and earlier today, Brian, via the magic of
- 1:28everything online nowadays, because you can put names in a
- 1:31thing, they'll pull it out. We have our winner.
- 1:34I can throw the process out there real quick.
- 1:36It's a pain, yeah. All right, so I gathered all the
- 1:39people that commented. I got them assigned a number.
- 1:44I had AI pick a number for me, gave them the numbers that we
- 1:49got, had them pick a number, trace that back to the name and
- 1:53Curtis is going to read it for you.
- 1:55The name of the winner and we hope you are listening tonight
- 1:58because dude, jump in the comments and we can start trying
- 2:00to get in touch with you. It is a Jonathan Harris 8975.
- 2:06Jonathan Harris 8975. We appreciate you listening.
- 2:13Not only that, but subscribing as well.
- 2:16We will ask you to get in touch with us.
- 2:18Brian, what's going to be the easiest way?
- 2:20Hey, Twitter is probably going to be the best.
- 2:24Hit us up at Twitter if you can't do that.
- 2:27If you don't have a Twitter, best is going to be e-mail us
- 2:30admin@boundarycornervt.com. Yep, big congratulations to
- 2:37Jonathan there. And we are a four man crew
- 2:41tonight. We got a lot to unload and
- 2:45usually we start with tell the truth.
- 2:47I I had to talk to these guys. I said we we can't tell the
- 2:51truth because I think tell the truth is going to take a little
- 2:53while tonight. I'm just being dead serious.
- 2:55I don't think we're going to be here for four or five minutes
- 3:00doing Tell the Truth on each section because we got a shit
- 3:02ton to unload about what's going on with the program right now.
- 3:05So we are going to start kind of out of routine.
- 3:09We're going to start with Know the Enemy.
- 3:12We need to talk about Clemson real quick because that game is
- 3:14Saturday at 3:30 at Lane Stadium.
- 3:18So we're going to jump into that right now.
- 3:20We're going to talk a little bit about their players.
- 3:22Brian did some tape review. Let's start with the offense.
- 3:25Brian led by Garrett Riley, obviously from the Riley family
- 3:30of offense. What's he running and what what
- 3:34are we looking to see Saturday on at 3:30?
- 3:39Yeah, looking at their offense, I mean this is the fast-paced
- 3:43kind of run. First Air Raid esque system
- 3:45emphasizes aggressive play calls.
- 3:48They run a lot of 11 personnel and they have a a really big
- 3:51focus on kind of establishing that run so they can get really
- 3:55aggressive with their with their past play calls.
- 3:59All right, and obviously led by you know four and five star
- 4:03quarterback Cade Clubnick got off in Texas.
- 4:07Solid number so far this year with Clubnick.
- 4:10If y'all haven't seen, you know, 21 touchdowns, 3 picks well over
- 4:1665 or just over 65% completion right at 2000 yards.
- 4:21And if you look at his Russian numbers, like this is not like
- 4:24Kyle fucking McCord last week. Cade's got some wheels.
- 4:28Y'all seen it. He averages about five times
- 4:31every time he takes off. So what?
- 4:33What else do we see from him, Brian?
- 4:35And then guys, anything y'all want to chime in with after
- 4:38Brian gives his little breakdown?
- 4:41Yeah. I mean, looking at Cade, man,
- 4:43he's a yeah, he definitely dual threat, kind of a pass first
- 4:46dual threat quarterback, has that gunslinger mentality.
- 4:50So we'll sling it in the similar way we saw with McCord last
- 4:53week, but definitely has more of a threat to take off in the
- 4:57running game then then what we saw from McCord in Syracuse.
- 5:01This is a guy that can make all the throws, does really well
- 5:05with with slinging the football around, can make some things a
- 5:07little bit off platform as well. Probably not as bread and
- 5:10butter, but definitely not a not a weakness either.
- 5:13He progresses through those reads pretty well, especially
- 5:18for, you know, Mark, marginally experienced collegiate
- 5:21quarterback at this point. But you know, thinking about
- 5:24gunslinger mentality, he can't force throws, especially when
- 5:27he's under duress and especially when he's kind of out there big
- 5:30play hunting. Like a lot of times he'll try to
- 5:32make the big play instead of the right play.
- 5:37Tally Sheldon anything on clubnet with y'all seen?
- 5:40I know y'all watch games. Sheldon, I know you probably
- 5:42looked at some data points. Yeah, PFF really likes him, you
- 5:47know, even more so than some of the overall efficiency metrics
- 5:50would suggest. Now why is that?
- 5:52I mean, I would say, you know a couple things pretty solid as a
- 5:56runner. So that's part of it.
- 5:57Also his his turn around worthy play percentage is pretty low,
- 6:00less than 2%, which is pretty good.
- 6:02So he's avoided the disastrous, disastrous plays overall in the
- 6:06season for him, 21 to three touch interception ratio.
- 6:09So he's been pretty, pretty efficient with the football the
- 6:10entire season, really. Yep, same thing I was going to
- 6:14say. I mean, 21 touchdowns, 3
- 6:19interceptions, you got to get some pressure on them.
- 6:24Definitely got to get some pressure on them, but the damn
- 6:27pain in the ass thing about them as y'all seen is they've got a
- 6:30damn good running game as well. If y'all hadn't seen Phil Moffa,
- 6:37Phil again, Clemson somehow still recruiting at a high
- 6:42level. Y'all like I was telling them,
- 6:45how did they lose to Louisville? I'm trying to figure this out
- 6:48because every single time I'm looking up guys and ratings, top
- 6:5125 player, top 50 player, top 200 player.
- 6:55Oh, he's one of the low ones. He's top 300.
- 6:58How did they lose to a Louisville team at home?
- 7:00But let's talk about Mafa. He was a top 200 player, 4 star
- 7:04guy already this year. You know, well over 800 yards,
- 7:12probably well on his way to 1000 yards, just about 6 1/2 a carry.
- 7:18Brian, what else are you seeing from him?
- 7:21Because he's a big boy at that. Yeah, he's a bruiser between the
- 7:25tackles, man. You know, kind of a little bit
- 7:28similar to tune in terms of after, after contact, really
- 7:31good after contact, good vision between the tackles.
- 7:34And you know, honestly, when we look at our defense kind of
- 7:37areas that we've struggled, that's where he's good in
- 7:39between the tackles, you know, turning some some plays that
- 7:45should be a one or two yard gain into those 8 or 10 yard gains,
- 7:48keeping the sticks moving. I'd call him an above average
- 7:52receiver out of the backfield. He's not great, but he's
- 7:55definitely serviceable in that capacity.
- 7:58Probably the only weakness in this game.
- 8:00He kind of lacks super high top end speed and he's not really
- 8:03that elusive in the open field. So, you know, he's not
- 8:07necessarily a home run threat, but he's a guy that's going to
- 8:09just grind you out the whole game.
- 8:13Sally Shelton. Anything y'all seen from him
- 8:15watching or nothing? Nothing.
- 8:21Right. Right now we trying to hold
- 8:25emotions in y'all, because if once they explode in a little
- 8:28while here, it ain't no going back.
- 8:30That's why I knew we couldn't do this later, because once the
- 8:33motions exploded and they are going to explode.
- 8:35All right, Brian, I looked at the wide receiver room.
- 8:38They don't have that stand out person.
- 8:40So for so many years Clemson always had to stood out person,
- 8:43whether it was Hopkins, you know, whether it was Sammy
- 8:46Watkins either the years where was Hunter Renfro?
- 8:49You knew Hunter Renfro was like that guy.
- 8:52So you looked at the tape, who really popped to you over the
- 8:56when you were reviewing the bat, the tapes there?
- 9:00So looking at what they're doing, looking at kind of what's
- 9:03hurt us a lot, My eyes kind of went a little bit of different
- 9:07way here. So there's no real wide receiver
- 9:10that's jumping out there. But stat wise, play wise,
- 9:14they're kind of just guys in, in my opinion, it's it's it's kind
- 9:17of riding the hot hand. But in terms of looking at what
- 9:20it's kind of hurt our defense a lot this year.
- 9:24I looked at Jake Brenningstool tight ends have really given us
- 9:28fits, especially on those kind of plays that have kept the
- 9:32sticks moving, kept the defense on the field for longer than we
- 9:35like. So he's a guy that catches the
- 9:38ball well, blocks well, they use him as a decoy.
- 9:42He can do a little bit of everything that you want from a
- 9:44tight end from a passing game perspective.
- 9:48So he's he's a guy that, you know, he may not go out there
- 9:51and, and, and catch for, you know, 80 plus yards, but he
- 9:53could be a guy that burns us on a a handful of key first downs
- 9:58that keeps them on the field. And obviously that's been a kind
- 10:03of an issue kind of all year in the the the losses is extending
- 10:07drives like a drive should be dead gone.
- 10:09They should be putting the ball. And obviously that that does
- 10:13worry Sheldon Valley. Anything on Jake or any of the
- 10:17receiving threats? Yeah, 4 star.
- 10:20You know how 4 star low five star guy to tidy in?
- 10:25He's very good. You know, if they do anything
- 10:29well, they're kind of running that little dump play to them.
- 10:31We're going to have to, we're going to adjust really quickly
- 10:34because he can catch, he can move, he can run a 6/6, 2:50
- 10:39somewhere around there. He's got experience because he's
- 10:42a senior, so we'll have our hands full.
- 10:47John, anything from you? Yeah, Brian Wesco ranks pretty
- 10:52highly. 17.5 average average yards per reception.
- 10:56Only two TDs, but typically when you catch the ball it tends to
- 10:59go for a pretty big game. Yeah, I do see that.
- 11:02Only a couple touchdowns, but again, it's that over the top
- 11:05play and again with you have Mafa, you know, up front there,
- 11:08keep pounding you. I know somebody threw it in
- 11:10there about him getting better. It usually is the same with the
- 11:13big guys that always goes like that.
- 11:14All right, let's flip over. Let's hit a little bit of their
- 11:17defense led by Wes Goodwin, who I was reading after he got
- 11:21torched last week. He might be getting fired.
- 11:25I know Dabo don't like firing his people, but what's goodwill
- 11:28maybe getting fired in a few weeks here if you don't get crap
- 11:31together, probably by the end, if they lose South Carolina,
- 11:35he's gone. He's gone.
- 11:37I'll say that they lose South Carolina.
- 11:38But Brian, what's he running and and what are they?
- 11:44What is their big philosophy on the defensive side of the ball?
- 11:47Yeah. I mean, it's a, it's a hybrid 43
- 11:49defense. I mean, we're kind of looking at
- 11:51something we're very familiar with this week, emphasis on
- 11:55stopping the run, letting that defensive line pin their ears
- 11:59back in those early, those late downs once they get you off the
- 12:02off the schedule there. So that's really their game
- 12:05plan. They've got a bunch of horses up
- 12:07front that can really do that very well.
- 12:09And I'm sure we're going to talk about them here shortly.
- 12:12Yeah, we are going to talk about them because that was the first
- 12:15thing like when I looked at where their their their run stop
- 12:19was and I started looking at the horses up front Demonte,
- 12:23Capehart, Peyton Page just jumped off And the first of all
- 12:29super high ranked guys when they came out one in 2020 with
- 12:32Capehart, 2021 Peyton Page, if that name sounds familiar, he's
- 12:37from down in Greensboro. I do believe for a while the
- 12:40Hokies were in the mix for Paige.
- 12:42Tally, you're more the expert on that.
- 12:43But I feel like we were in the mix for Paige for a little while
- 12:46coming out of Greensboro. Obviously didn't land in both
- 12:49those guys. You know, top 247 players,
- 12:52Capehart effectively basically a top 50 player, a top 10
- 12:59defensive tackle and tally. They ain't small by any means,
- 13:02are they? No, Heck no.
- 13:05And you got size all across the board.
- 13:07You know, even when you feel like Clemson's having a down
- 13:10year, they still have talent all over the field.
- 13:13So when you talk about all these high-ranking guys, they're
- 13:16high-ranking for a reason. I think NIL has spread it some
- 13:21of the wealth out with some players and transfers and stuff.
- 13:25But schools like Clemson are still going to be really
- 13:28talented, really talented schools, and you have to out
- 13:32coach them to beat them. Brian, what did you see on both
- 13:37these guys? You know, where are they playing
- 13:40as far as is one of three tech or we got a shade one eye.
- 13:44What, what are what are we seeing from these guys from your
- 13:46tape observations? Yeah, when we look at at the
- 13:50tape, the more traditional 3 technique is going to be Peyton,
- 13:52Paige. He's a lot more comfortable with
- 13:54that position. They will kind of move these
- 13:55guys around a little bit, but he's definitely more
- 13:57comfortable. 3 technique, you know, Speaking of Paige in
- 14:01particular, technician, high motor, really good, good
- 14:05quickness at the snap of the football.
- 14:08Probably when you look at at weaknesses, probably a little
- 14:11underpowered for an interior guy.
- 14:15He's he's got what you would call a weight room strength, but
- 14:19it doesn't always translate onto the field like you would like it
- 14:23to see. So you kind of get can get
- 14:25caught up hand fighting instead of shedding kind of in the
- 14:28interior there. But he's definitely more the the
- 14:31three technique. When we look at we look at Cape
- 14:34art, kind of the opposite, exceptionally strong at the
- 14:37point of attack. I mean this dude is strength
- 14:40personified but still has great athleticism for that size.
- 14:44Plays with good leverage, really good at shedding those blocks.
- 14:48Probably the only thing that he struggles with is, you know, pad
- 14:51level. Playing a little bit too tall in
- 14:53the middle there. All right.
- 14:57And there was one other guy. Golly, I lost his name.
- 15:00I thought I had it wrote down. They did have another pretty big
- 15:03guy. Occasionally they'll line up at
- 15:05the end. If I find it, I'll get it to
- 15:09you. But I want to talk about the
- 15:11edge because obviously we know there's a problem.
- 15:13People already putting it in the chat and everything.
- 15:17TJ Parker is obviously their big stud, there is no doubt.
- 15:23And that's fine. You got one stud, it's OK, but
- 15:26you can do things. But Brian, you know, Tally, why
- 15:33don't you talk on TJ Parker for in a second here because he
- 15:36comes from down your way. But we got TJ.
- 15:38We know he's all world huge recruit tallies.
- 15:42Don't break that info down in a second.
- 15:43But who's the other guy that may give us some problems Saturday?
- 15:50Peter Woods man, still a young guy, kind of a tweener.
- 15:55D tackle DN they they line him up a little bit of everywhere,
- 15:59but he's a guy that they played a lot more at D in this year.
- 16:04Quick off the snap, can bend the edge surprisingly well and has
- 16:09incredible stamina for a bigger guy.
- 16:13And you know, also for a bigger guy, great motor and violent
- 16:16hands. So he's he's a bigger in he's
- 16:19not going to be a guy that's going to go out there and just
- 16:21absolutely, you know, speed rush you off the edge.
- 16:23But he's got a lot of lot of tools out there.
- 16:26And like I said, he's got that position flexibility where they
- 16:28can slide him inside when they need to.
- 16:33Tally, What about TJ Parker, man?
- 16:35I mean, he is from down in Alabama.
- 16:38Is that a name that you are familiar with?
- 16:40You know, before he even got to Clemson?
- 16:43Oh, yeah, TJ Parker is, I think we talked about somebody last
- 16:46week from from Phoenix City is where he's from, Central,
- 16:52Central, Phoenix City High School, always a powerhouse.
- 16:56I mean, they've got many, many state championships.
- 16:58They play in the biggest division in Alabama.
- 17:01Very, very talented play. I mean, he had offers from
- 17:03everywhere. I think he kind of got down to
- 17:07Penn State and Clemson and Alabama or something like that.
- 17:10So Uber talented guy, you know, great, great body size, was a
- 17:18monster in high school. You know, just you see it all
- 17:24over there, you see it all over their their their roster, you
- 17:26know what I'm saying? But also what you see over their
- 17:28roster is that they're very beatable.
- 17:30You know, with them having these talented guys, they're they're a
- 17:33beatable team. But you know, just staying on on
- 17:37TJTJ Parker is a is a handful to deal with.
- 17:40You know, he's a he's a great player and very highly ranked
- 17:43out of high school. Like I said, another five star,
- 17:47four-star high 4 star, if you want to say, but may have been
- 17:50like a 98 somewhere around there.
- 17:52So very talented kid and you have to you have to coach the
- 17:57beat the beat defenses like that.
- 18:00I mean, that's all I can say. But he's he's, he's going to be
- 18:02a handful. And real quick and somebody put
- 18:05this put up James's in thing because yeah, I didn't get a
- 18:09chance up. But yeah, that was a good point.
- 18:11Yeah, yeah. We may not see.
- 18:13Cape No no, Officially ruled out.
- 18:16Officially ruled out. Officially ruled out.
- 18:18Sorry y'all. We occasionally go to work and
- 18:20occasionally we don't get to listen to everything and read
- 18:22everything. And I got Swanwood work when I
- 18:24got home. All the kids were here with me.
- 18:26So yeah, if you hear them in the background, I'm sorry.
- 18:29Yeah. It was announced in Dabos
- 18:32presser earlier today that Capehart will not play this
- 18:35week. That is a huge loss for them,
- 18:37potentially a huge win for the Hokies in that sense.
- 18:41So you might see. A lot of Williams you might see
- 18:43a lot of. Williams.
- 18:44Woods maybe sliding inside. Yeah, so there you go.
- 18:48There you go. Making Chris laugh out here.
- 18:51That's a good thing. I as always, it it's Clemson.
- 18:56I won't say it Tally, but you know it who who's the white blue
- 19:00kid? Because, you know, they got one
- 19:03and they're the white blue kid. Man, I mean, the quarterback,
- 19:07whoever, a linebacker, and they got plenty of them.
- 19:10This, this going to come in and they're going to play hard.
- 19:13And again, I, I honestly, I looked at hardly no Clemson
- 19:20players because whoever lines up on the field against us, it
- 19:23doesn't matter. It does not matter because we
- 19:28can play with the best of teams and we can play down with the
- 19:31worst of teams. But it's going to start with us
- 19:34and how we handle things, which is what we're going to talk
- 19:37about a little later. Oh yeah, and it's fastly
- 19:40approaching. But Brian, I know Woody Wood is,
- 19:43is one of them. He is the white glue guy, but
- 19:47they got another glue guy out there as well that you liked on
- 19:50tape. Yeah, I mean, it starts and ends
- 19:53of Barrett Carter, man. Exceptional athleticism, really
- 19:57good change of direction, sideline to sideline type.
- 20:00Linebacker can do a little bit of everything.
- 20:04Good against the run, pretty good in pass coverage.
- 20:08Good Blitzer, high football IQ guy.
- 20:12Looking at him probably a bit undersized, which kind of even,
- 20:16you know, feeds more into the glue guy aspect of of his game
- 20:19there probably the biggest weaknesses that he will
- 20:22occasionally miss some run fits here and there.
- 20:24But in terms of athleticism and and just overall ability, he's
- 20:29the guy that kind of holds everything together on that
- 20:31defensive side. All right, Sheldon, you said you
- 20:34had a couple things you want to throw in here about the defense.
- 20:38Well, yeah, and the team is all so Clemson is not elite at
- 20:41anyone particular thing, but they're very well-rounded.
- 20:43So you know, they rank, you know, mid 20s, high 30s and
- 20:47pretty much all of the big advanced statistical categories,
- 20:50defense, EPA per rush allowed, 32nd per drop back 31st.
- 20:57You know, they're top 35 in EPA per rush and drop back on
- 21:01offense as well. So success rate's pretty good
- 21:03too. So just a pretty well-rounded
- 21:05team. They're not bad at anything.
- 21:07The one set that stands out to me is they lead the country in
- 21:11rush rate below expectations. So in other words, they pass the
- 21:14ball more frequently than you would expect based on down a
- 21:17distance. So they're going to sling the
- 21:19ball around the yard pretty much the whole game.
- 21:21So it's going to obviously put a lot of stress on Tech's corners,
- 21:25certainly linebackers, the safeties.
- 21:26So we'll see how that goes. But I would say overall, just
- 21:29just a solid team that does everything pretty well, just not
- 21:32necessarily a lead at one particular thing.
- 21:36All righty so there it is. I told y'all we were going to
- 21:39get through this quick. Ain't as usual where we get a
- 21:42lot more looking at people. Y'all know Tally?
- 21:47I love Tally because Tally will come down sneaky and go watch
- 21:50the extra game film and then pop in with a couple numbers.
- 21:52It won't going to be that way this week.
- 21:54It just won't. So as y'all know.
- 21:57It's a couple reasons. It's a couple reasons.
- 21:58For them, oh, it is number. One, I think not a lot of people
- 22:02need to know who Clemson is. Right.
- 22:06So I mean, we kind of know who they are.
- 22:08We see them, they get kind of plastered up on any key ACC Game
- 22:13of the week, national media covers them.
- 22:16If you're just casually listening to ESPN or Fox or any
- 22:21of those, you're going to get a decent idea of who the guys are
- 22:26for Clemson. The other reason is what
- 22:29happened on Saturday to the Hokies and how we wanted to give
- 22:34all of us are tell the truth a little bit more room to breathe
- 22:38this week, if you will. Because we do need to let it
- 22:42breathe. And as we go over to tell the
- 22:44truth, we are brought to you by Count's family pharmacy, your
- 22:48friendly neighborhood pharmacy, three O 1 S Main St.
- 22:51Blacksburg. I'm surprised Jeremy didn't
- 22:52message us want to come on this week so he could scream and
- 22:55curse as much as Jeremy does. But we've got to tell the truth
- 22:58because the Ruth is this week. We've got a lot to tell about
- 23:01ourselves and I feel like we do this once a year.
- 23:04Obviously, we always do it in the state of the program, but
- 23:07there's a lot going on when you lose your fourth game of the
- 23:10year by less than one score. Virginia Tech has lost four
- 23:15games by less than one score. I think it's a total combined.
- 23:20Is it 21 four games by 21.22 points?
- 23:24It's 21 because it was 774 and 3:00 and we got to start talking
- 23:30about Coach Fry. We got to start doing a lot of
- 23:32stuff so right now this is how we're going to start.
- 23:35I want to see it in the comments as well, because I want to see
- 23:38how the pulse a hokey nation is going, but here's what I got to
- 23:42go first of all, I'm going to start with tally because I'm
- 23:47starting with you Iron Man let's.
- 23:49Do it iron. Man, put pull the mask down.
- 23:52On a scale of one to 10, one being all in, 10 being
- 23:57completely out, Where are you on coach Brent Pry as it stands?
- 24:03Remember, Remember the No 5th of November?
- 24:0610 being all out, 10 being. Completely out.
- 24:11Without explanation explanation right now I would probably say
- 24:16seven. OK, 7 for me.
- 24:19Seven for you, Shelton. 7. OK, y'all are at the sevens.
- 24:25OK, I thought Saturday Tally might have been in a 9.7, you
- 24:31know? Yeah, I'll relax a little bit.
- 24:33I got I got my calm hat on right now.
- 24:35You guys call that out? I think Shelton was about an 8.7
- 24:38on Saturday. I was at like a 65.
- 24:42I'm now at A5, Brian. I'd say 5, five and a half.
- 24:47Give me 5 1/2. Give you 5 1/2.
- 24:50He just wants to be slightly above me.
- 24:51I'm the I'm the. I got to be the one on the low
- 24:53end of the. Total no, because I mean what I
- 24:55what I'm basically saying with my 5 1/2 is that I'm I'm no
- 24:58longer in, but I'm also not out. I'm I'm I'm in the middle, I'm
- 25:03in the middle. So let's go with it.
- 25:04Tally, you know, and and Shelton's y'all Shelton's going
- 25:08like turn. I got I got the fire and
- 25:10gasoline below us here. I try to be the water.
- 25:13It's not going to be pretty, but tally go man, because obviously
- 25:17I got some stuff, stuff we're going to talk about.
- 25:19But what is now like? What is your hot button issue?
- 25:24Well, we were talking about this.
- 25:27Everybody wants to know why I got the Iron mask, man, Iron Man
- 25:31mask on. I'm just, I'm just here to
- 25:34learn. So Sheldon, actually, I'm going
- 25:38to talk to him and let him start this thing off because I think
- 25:41he's going to get me riled up because he's going to come with
- 25:43some interesting stuff from the presser.
- 25:45I watched it and from the game as well, but I'm going to sit
- 25:51back and relax for a few minutes.
- 25:55Hey, Chris, right there with me. I love that.
- 25:58What? Up, guys.
- 25:59All right. Let Sheldon go.
- 26:01Fire away. All right, folks.
- 26:04Well, the time has come to start.
- 26:05The Brent Pride discourse feels like a recurring theme every
- 26:09week that there's some type of game or clock management issue.
- 26:12And we saw more of that on Saturday against Syracuse.
- 26:15So in the wake of, you know, obviously the discourse is
- 26:18about, you know, not taking time out, letting the defense,
- 26:21letting the offense to Syracuse run the clock out at the end of
- 26:23the at the end of regulation, you know, deciding to go defense
- 26:271st and overtime, you know, people can have their opinions
- 26:30one by the other. But for me, there was there was
- 26:33one thing in particular that stick out.
- 26:34And I think there was a tremendous lack of clarity that
- 26:40we had in price of, you know, post game comments and his
- 26:43comments in a press conference afterwards today on Tuesday
- 26:47about what his his thought process was.
- 26:49So first of all, Coach Pry, if you're listening, if your
- 26:52family's listening, I love you brother, but I got to call you
- 26:55out because there was some BS that went on these past few
- 26:57days. So to start off, you know, Pride
- 27:01decided not to take that time out to prevent the runoff at the
- 27:03end of the first half when Tech, you know, potentially was
- 27:05getting towards field goal range.
- 27:07After the game he said the communication with the refs was
- 27:10unclear, but appears that he changed his story a couple
- 27:13times. So to the post game radio
- 27:15people, he said he chose not to take the time out to prevent the
- 27:18runoff. Why he did that, I don't know.
- 27:20Maybe he's getting some bad advice from someone in his ear.
- 27:24Possibly. That seems like a likely
- 27:26scenario, but after the game in the in the official post game
- 27:32press conference, he said he did not trust the field goal unit
- 27:35that had leaky protection in order to be able to even bother
- 27:40him to make a field goal. Now why he would say that when
- 27:44Jon Love has already hit multiple 50 yards before in this
- 27:46season, I do not know, but he changed his story there so
- 27:49that's one. OK, so to me this looks like
- 27:53he's covering for poor decision making.
- 27:55All right now regarding the poor communication with the
- 27:58officials, I think this is on pry.
- 28:00I know the official can sometimes make mistakes and they
- 28:03don't explain things concise in the right way.
- 28:05But if you as a head coach are not getting in their ass and
- 28:08demanding that they give you a a reasonable explanation, you are
- 28:11not doing your job. I don't think pry, I don't think
- 28:14pry right now has the, the, the acumen that we need of a head
- 28:18coach to really get in their ass and demand that they give him a
- 28:21response. Which it, it just seemed like to
- 28:24me like he was content with everything that happened.
- 28:26He had a little conversation that was nice and polite.
- 28:29Maybe, you know, his, his eyebrows got a little bit
- 28:31furred, but he, he was not responding to the level of
- 28:35intensity that I think he needed to as a head coach.
- 28:39So we go now to the Tuesday presser.
- 28:41He said in the presser that there was no clarity in the
- 28:44moments with regards to the officials and their explanation.
- 28:47But he also said he did not submit that place to the
- 28:50conference office for review. Why would you not submit the
- 28:53play for review if you didn't get clarity?
- 28:56That does not make any sense. If you weren't, if if you felt
- 28:59the explanation was insufficient, if you thought the
- 29:00refs made a mistake, maybe not giving you the time Outback, why
- 29:03would you not submit that play? That to me screams that he's
- 29:07just doing cover. He's doing cover because he
- 29:10knows he made a mistake and he doesn't want to admit that he
- 29:13doesn't want people he wasn't. He doesn't want to throw himself
- 29:15under the bus or maybe the people that are giving advice
- 29:17under the bus. And then lastly on this, he also
- 29:21said today, quote, we have to be the aggressor.
- 29:23We have to be on the attack. In that situation, then why
- 29:26didn't you attack? Why did you not go down field?
- 29:29Why did you not take a time out when Syracuse was on their last
- 29:32possession of regulation save some time?
- 29:34Why did you not go down the field in that last drive with
- 29:36Colin Schleade, 29 seconds left, three timeouts.
- 29:38Why were you not the aggressor you needed?
- 29:4040 yards. You needed 40 yards.
- 29:43Needed 40. Yards got the boot.
- 29:45Yep, and he was not the aggressor.
- 29:47So again, just a complete but contradiction, a series of
- 29:51contradictions statements that didn't make sense.
- 29:55I think prize didn't cover. I think he knows he made another
- 29:57gaffe and he obviously doesn't want to admit that to the fans,
- 30:00which has been obviously recurring theme.
- 30:02So just really disappointing with how you know, he articulate
- 30:06that to the fan base. Again, I love your pride, but
- 30:08that's just I just don't like it, man.
- 30:11I think it's, I think it's a bad look.
- 30:15Tally. Man, it's hard to follow that,
- 30:18but I needed it. I mean, he made it sound elegant
- 30:21to like he did a great job to explain a lot of the stuff and
- 30:25go through everything after the game.
- 30:29You know, that kind of we're feeling and it's the team takes
- 30:33the identity of the coach, you know what I'm saying?
- 30:35Like we coach too soft, we're playing too soft at certain
- 30:39times. It's the same thing.
- 30:42It's a broken record. Like if you were 50, if you were
- 30:46A500, you know, coach and A500 coach in, you know, close games,
- 30:55then maybe I would ease up a little bit.
- 30:58But you can't be like one in 12 or one in 11 and then you come
- 31:03with the same coach speak like it gets old, man.
- 31:06And again, like Sheldon said, like I love Pride.
- 31:08I think Pride's a good guy, you know, I think he's a pretty
- 31:11decent coach, you know what I'm saying?
- 31:13But sometimes coaches just don't fit.
- 31:15And again, I'm not saying that I'm all out.
- 31:17It's going to take some things in.
- 31:18I know we'll discuss it a little bit here in a minute.
- 31:21But it takes some things to to change to have to really see
- 31:27change. You know, and I think right now
- 31:29we're just hearing the same the same old stuff.
- 31:32You know, this just well, we got to get better.
- 31:35Well, how do you get better? You know what I'm saying?
- 31:37If you going to, I would rather him walk in and say I ain't
- 31:39fucking talking to nobody today. I'm upset.
- 31:42Find me. The rest fucked us.
- 31:44I don't want to have a conversation with nobody.
- 31:46Everybody get out. I don't care if you come
- 31:48watching that. Like I want you to just be mad
- 31:50and get up, like change everything that you're doing
- 31:53because the nice polite, you know, coaching and on the field,
- 31:58it's just it's old, man. It's old and fans are tired of
- 32:03watching the same stuff, you know, blow leads, lose by three
- 32:09points, lose by 6 points, and then we hear the same thing
- 32:12afterwards. The players are tired of losing.
- 32:14You know, the players, they're playing their butts off.
- 32:16I got to give them the, you know, nobody, everybody knows
- 32:18that this team doesn't quit, you know what I'm saying?
- 32:21Everybody understands that. But that gets, you know, kudos.
- 32:26Like you got to, you got to get to a point where you're not
- 32:29just, well, shoot, I know we play Virginia Tech, man, we
- 32:32going to be beat up, but we going to win, you know what I'm
- 32:35saying? Like we're that team, the team
- 32:37that we think other people are. That's who we are.
- 32:40However, Virginia Tech fans look at a team like Georgia Tech.
- 32:43Well, we know Georgia Tech is going to give us a good game.
- 32:45That's what people think about us.
- 32:47That's what we are. That's that we that team.
- 32:51When you go through at the beginning of the season and
- 32:54you're looking at where you going to get your wins and
- 32:57losses, people's looking at Vt and saying that's a dub easy.
- 33:02No matter what we play them at, if we play them at they house,
- 33:04if we play them at our house, that's on coaching.
- 33:08You got to change some stuff and it don't take.
- 33:10Oh well, Beamer did it, man. Stop saying that he ain't
- 33:13Beamer. Stop saying Beamer did it in
- 33:16this many years and this coach did.
- 33:18It is coaches that are taking over programs and winning in the
- 33:21first year. Elko did it at Duke.
- 33:24Manny Diaz is that Duke? He's doing the same thing.
- 33:27And I bet Duke wasn't in a better position.
- 33:29I mean in a worse position than Virginia Tech was.
- 33:32It's about the same. I'm just saying that we can pick
- 33:36other, we can pick other schools to talk about.
- 33:38It's just it gets redundant, man.
- 33:40And it's so frustrating that you watch these kids go out and you
- 33:47even watch the coaches do some stuff that works.
- 33:49The coaches will do something that works and it's like it
- 33:52surprises them. They'll do something and it
- 33:55works and they go shit, we going to do that again.
- 33:58You never go back to it. You know what I'm saying?
- 34:01It's just, again, I know it's inexperience at coaching, but
- 34:05now you have to have some kind of experience.
- 34:08Like I did some stupid shit when I first got with my wife, right?
- 34:13Like walk in from work, take your shoes off, kick them to the
- 34:18side, go straight to the bathroom.
- 34:21In your mind, you just thinking, I've been at work all day, I got
- 34:24to go use the bathroom. But your wife is standing there
- 34:27like you walked in the house and you didn't even say hey honey or
- 34:32I'm home or nothing. I'm telling you you're only
- 34:35going to do it once or twice before it becomes a problem.
- 34:39Well, coach Pride, you keep walking in the house and you
- 34:42don't say that I'm home and we getting tired of it.
- 34:45I'm going to stop right there for now.
- 34:47Brian, what you think, man? You know what that was?
- 34:51That was gold. I like that.
- 34:52Like Sheldon and Tally have like completely set the stage for me
- 34:56here. And I think what it comes down
- 34:58for is something that Tally kind of talked about but didn't maybe
- 35:00say directly, is that a lot of times it feels like these
- 35:04coaches are playing not to lose the game.
- 35:08That's what it feels like. We're playing not to lose the
- 35:11game. And when you play not to lose,
- 35:14sometimes it's going to bite you in the ass.
- 35:16And we've seen that anytime it gets close, that's when we
- 35:20falter because we played not to lose.
- 35:23When we look at the defensive side of the ball, these late
- 35:26half, whether it's first half or second-half collapses got to
- 35:29stop. When we look at the offensive
- 35:32side of the ball, when you get a lead stomp on some throats, we
- 35:37don't do that. It's it's like we we think that
- 35:4018 is enough. And we go out there and we just
- 35:43kind of, you know, put it out there and all of a sudden, you
- 35:46know, you get one mistake here, one mistake there and now it's a
- 35:49game again. And now you, you know, you got a
- 35:51tight asshole because it's a game again.
- 35:53And now you don't know what to do and now you're in in React
- 35:57mode. And we don't do well in React
- 36:00mode. We play well when we play loose
- 36:02and confident. Anybody that's watched this team
- 36:05knows that. And we're not doing that
- 36:07consistently enough against these opponents.
- 36:10So that's that's all I got. From what Brian said, man, I'm,
- 36:14I'm going to go back on that as well.
- 36:16And what he said, you know what he's talking about.
- 36:20Shoot, there was a lot that you just threw it now and I kind of
- 36:22lost my trace that that kind of threw me off a little bit.
- 36:27We, we, you said that and then Andrey pops up and he puts, puts
- 36:31a, a, a comment up there for me to see.
- 36:35But I'm thinking about, you know, what Brian says and he
- 36:37says, you know, when we play, we play better when we play loose.
- 36:40And again, I know we're going to get into some more stuff.
- 36:45People were talking in the game, you know, and I know football,
- 36:48you know, I get it. I know sports.
- 36:50But like, my son had his first basketball game today.
- 36:53Thank the Lord, very, very thankful he's back on the court.
- 36:56You know, he went through a whole game very he was rusty
- 36:59because he got injured playing basketball and he was a little
- 37:03rusty, but he had a great game. You know, he went in, he
- 37:05competed and they won. So great job by them.
- 37:08But they have a legendary coach that coaches his, his varsity
- 37:11basketball team. My son plays on the freshman
- 37:13team and Coach Doss is his name, Jack Doss.
- 37:17You can look him up in Huntsville, AL.
- 37:20He's won, I think 12 state championships at four different
- 37:25schools. But Coach Doss probably is about
- 37:3170 and he he coaches like he's 70.
- 37:34He he plays stall ball when he gets up in the lead.
- 37:38If he gets up on a team that he thinks that he's not supposed to
- 37:42get up on, if he's playing a team that's more talented than
- 37:46he is and he gets up on that team, he is going to hold a
- 37:49ball. He's going to try.
- 37:51If he's up 20 to 18, he'll try to hold a ball and guess what
- 37:56happens? You want to know what happened,
- 37:58Brian? They steal the ball, they go
- 37:59score, then they continue scoring and then now we're
- 38:02trying to play catch up. I feel like our staff does the
- 38:05same thing. Pryor is a traditional coach
- 38:09with a school that has traditions.
- 38:12We're not a traditional school. We don't do the things good that
- 38:16Penn State or Alabama does. What?
- 38:19We just have five star backs that run the ball well or they
- 38:23have a line that always send people like it's different for
- 38:28us. You know, we do have some things
- 38:29that were known for, but we don't have a tradition that is
- 38:33going to win US games. So my thing is when you look at
- 38:38how we play Georgia Tech, I bet Price hard on was about that
- 38:43long. Like that's the kind of game
- 38:44that he wants. He wants to go out and play
- 38:47defense and get 3 and outs. And he don't care if we move the
- 38:50ball and we just continue stopping them and they kick it
- 38:55back to us and we waste a little clock and then we win 2621 to
- 38:59six, you know, have some kind of special play and get up.
- 39:03And then we just we can't do that.
- 39:05You have to continue scoring. You have to continue.
- 39:08If they're going to give you points, take them.
- 39:11I don't think that. I don't think that Syracuse
- 39:15could have stopped, could have stopped our passing, the
- 39:18offense. They still ain't stopped Steven
- 39:21Gosdale. But guess what?
- 39:23We started doing some different shit to get away from what we
- 39:27need to do to win the game. And then that happens.
- 39:30We have a collapse. Tired of it, man.
- 39:32Curtis, I know you got some stuff to say, man.
- 39:34I ain't mean to cut you off. Well, AI missed your ran
- 39:36unfortunately because. That's all right.
- 39:38I got life. I know you got more, but I
- 39:40wanted to hear that first one, unfortunately, but it's it's
- 39:45when it's the same shit different day.
- 39:47That's what starts irritating you.
- 39:49If we were if we had lost four games 4 completely different
- 39:52ways this year, I think we'd be sending we still be mad, right?
- 39:56We'd still be mad, but we wouldn't be having this
- 39:59conversation. Oh, Miami blew us out.
- 40:01We blew a lead. Oh, they got up on us.
- 40:04We tried to fight back. But it's now the same narrative
- 40:07over and over. And I told Tally this week,
- 40:11y'all the four games we lost this year, we had a lead in
- 40:16Vanderbilt at the end of the game.
- 40:18We tied Rutgers at the end of the game.
- 40:22They drove and kicked a field goal.
- 40:24We had a 10 point lead on Miami and obviously we had an 18 point
- 40:28lead, which we all get upset about, but we had a 7 point lead
- 40:31with four seconds to go. We had a it's the same narrative
- 40:35and y'all keep talking about the shell on offense and we don't go
- 40:39to things. The defense just seems like it's
- 40:42scared. Oh, we're going to have to do
- 40:44this. Let's it's OK if we give up a
- 40:47touchdown. No, it's not You can't.
- 40:50So we're seeing the same things on the defensive side of the
- 40:53ball over and over because if the defense, y'all just think
- 40:56about this just two holes. We hold the ball.
- 40:58We hold 2 times this year, 2 times we're seven and two we
- 41:04hold 2 times. That's not saying we could be
- 41:08better. I like what James just put up
- 41:11here because I saw that as well. We are 8 O and one if games
- 41:15ended at the 8th minute. 8 O and 1:00.
- 41:19Pitiful. If you really, if you really
- 41:23want to be mad, Curtis, if you really want to feel some type of
- 41:26way, go and look at the last three years.
- 41:31That's what I need you to do. So what I was saying is we, we
- 41:36get into those situations, it's the same thing at the end of
- 41:39every game, it's the same thing. And then you're sitting here and
- 41:44it's like, do something different.
- 41:46Now he is who he is, but the whole thing that happens and
- 41:50it's all of them. I don't care who you are, what
- 41:52field of protection you're in, you listen to people you you
- 41:56take and that's usually how you make your decisions, whether it
- 42:01be Tally doing marketing myself doing what I do in my company
- 42:06with learning and development, Brian, what he does and Dan Alex
- 42:09and tell them what he does. You listen to people, right?
- 42:11You listen to ice, you listen to what they are supposed to do.
- 42:14Apparently there's somebody in the box, a coach on the staff in
- 42:18the box that has the book of what you're supposed to do in
- 42:21these situations. Now, I don't know if they are
- 42:25telling our head coach of exactly what they should be
- 42:30doing because to what Shelton said earlier, in that situation,
- 42:36here's what should happen. My phone needs to shut up.
- 42:39So why is it the same things? What I would say is if you're
- 42:43fucking up the same shit the same way every time, then
- 42:47somebody is telling you wrong. Somebody is not getting you
- 42:50ready. It's eventually falls on you.
- 42:52But like all of us, like every single person in this chat over
- 42:56here, in this chat over here, there's people that influence
- 42:59them. Callie, you talk about your
- 43:00wife. I bet you didn't kick off the
- 43:03shoes and walk to the bathroom no more after that surgery.
- 43:05You'd be like, hey, honey, how are you?
- 43:07You have a good day. I love you.
- 43:09So it's still on him to change. It's still on him to be better.
- 43:14But the whole thing it comes to is who's around you.
- 43:19I like what Andrady said there. It's not a tack because at the
- 43:25end of that game and even the second-half, I know y'all, we
- 43:30missed tackles. We weren't we, we played a
- 43:32little over aggressive and then some mad shit happened.
- 43:35What happened? We went super under aggressive
- 43:38and you can't do that. You cannot be in the moment.
- 43:41You have to be who you are. So I know we got a lot more and
- 43:46we're going to keep going. But I'm going to say this and I
- 43:48want, I want to see what people think out there because I think
- 43:51he's back as a coach next year. I do.
- 43:54Charlie, he's back. He's 100.
- 43:56He's back. Yeah.
- 43:57I mean, regardless of how we feel, I don't think there's a
- 43:59way we he's. Not yeah, Yeah, he's back.
- 44:01He can lose. He can lose all the last three
- 44:04games and he's not going anywhere.
- 44:06They're going to give him another year or two years.
- 44:10He can lose the last three games and not make a bowl game and
- 44:16he's still going to be a coach next year. 100% yeah.
- 44:21But what it usually is at that point in time, what happens is
- 44:25like what I'm kind of leading into here is currently this
- 44:29coaching staff and the analytics people and everybody made-up of
- 44:34it on and off the field is construction.
- 44:37It cannot stay this way because you cannot keep doing the wrong
- 44:41things. And So what I want to pivot to
- 44:43y'all, and I don't care how many it is, it can be 0 or you can
- 44:49say the whole staff can come back.
- 44:51I don't think it's going to look the same.
- 44:53But tell me, Shelton Moss, who is safe on the staff right now?
- 44:59Who is safe? Well, definitely Tyler Bowen, I
- 45:04mean. OK.
- 45:05I think he's been, I think he's been in his bag, not just, you
- 45:08know, last week, but you know, throughout the majority of this
- 45:10year. Like you go into Syracuse on the
- 45:13road, score 31 points, put above over 400 yards of offense in the
- 45:16back of QB and a running back. You know, we're top 30 ish in SP
- 45:21plus, which was above our preseason expectations.
- 45:23So they've overperformed there. I think he's done a good job.
- 45:27I I know it's, you know, hadn't been because it's in every game,
- 45:29but you know, part of that is just working with players that
- 45:31have limitations and trying to, you know, get guys more
- 45:33experience and develop them. And I think he's been fantastic.
- 45:36I know you know, people are always going to hate the OST
- 45:38man, but it's a tough job. You you never you always get the
- 45:41blame when things go wrong. You never get credit when things
- 45:43go right. I think he's done a great job.
- 45:45So I'm a big, I'm a big bone advocate right now all.
- 45:47Right, who else? Give me a couple.
- 45:49Give me give me your lift of absolutely saves.
- 45:53Brooks done a good job with the running back room and I think
- 45:57Crook for the most part the online has gotten better.
- 46:00The younger players I think have have developed pretty well.
- 46:02So I've I've definitely keep them.
- 46:04That's your 3. Yeah, but the quarterbacks coach
- 46:12forget the name. Derek Jones.
- 46:15Yeah, yeah, yeah, he's, I know some of the recruiting returns
- 46:19haven't been great, but he's done a pretty good job
- 46:21developing that room. Dante, let it looks great.
- 46:23I don't think you would want to risk, you know, letting a guy
- 46:25like that go. So I'd I'd keep him as well.
- 46:28OK. And JC.
- 46:31And JC, anybody else, Sheldon, the next thing you don't know,
- 46:34you're going to say we got to keep the whole staff together,
- 46:36which we can all fly off at you and say no to.
- 46:38If we can't keep the whole staff together, we're five and four,
- 46:40not 9 and O it's. Going to happen.
- 46:43They ain't, they ain't going. Over there, people, the people I
- 46:44didn't mention, you can, you know, they can make some
- 46:47decisions after this season, all right.
- 46:51Tally. What's the what's my?
- 46:54What's my question? Who is safe on the staff?
- 46:57Who is? Absolutely.
- 46:58If you were selling in his ear, you ain't firing him because you
- 47:01lose your damn mind. So if I'm looking at the real
- 47:05answer, everybody's safe because I don't think that our football
- 47:10program has the nuts to get rid of anybody.
- 47:15You know, I don't think that anybody.
- 47:17I think pride's too nice. He had a lot of friends.
- 47:21I don't think he won't he will let anybody go.
- 47:23But if I'm looking at who I would be safe, if I'm in charge,
- 47:28if you're in charge, if you're the I'm in charge, I would say,
- 47:32you know, probably JC Price, you know, I've seen some good stuff
- 47:37in him. He's got a guy on his line that
- 47:40has 12 sacks, you know, probably would say he's safe.
- 47:44He's a through and through a hokey man.
- 47:50Shit. I mean, Brooks, Brooks has done
- 47:54a good job. Like like, Shelton said, Dude,
- 48:00this, I just feel like you, it's up in the air for everybody
- 48:05else, it's up in the air, man. Like JC Brooks has been fine.
- 48:11I know, Shelton said. Crook, you know I ain't.
- 48:15I'm going to leave it alone for right now till we talk about
- 48:18other stuff, but yeah, I'm just Mines, Coach Mines.
- 48:24Coach Mines is safe, and the reason I say Coach Mines is safe
- 48:27is because of how he's recruited.
- 48:29But when we start to get into other stuff, the main thing with
- 48:33me to why it's so hard for me to say who's safe and who's not is
- 48:38because I feel like part of coaching is who you put in the
- 48:41game. You know what I'm saying?
- 48:44You have to coach your personnel.
- 48:48It's cool to get receivers, but I'm watching other four-star
- 48:52recruits and three star recruits get on the field at other
- 48:54schools. Why not put somebody in and try,
- 49:00you know, why not let me run somebody on the field to see
- 49:04what they do? Hey receiver, you're fast.
- 49:09I need you to go run a go route because these guys apparently
- 49:12are not going to catch a go route.
- 49:14They either aren't getting the separation or they're not going
- 49:16to die for it. So I just need you to go in
- 49:18there with fresh legs and just run.
- 49:21Just run as fast as you can and try to catch this ball.
- 49:24That's what I need. Let's see what happens.
- 49:26So I'm done. Mines Price Brooks.
- 49:32Brooks, that's all. That's the only people safe,
- 49:35although Tally says everybody's safe.
- 49:37But then it's up in the air, but nobody's safe.
- 49:39Tally doing philosophical crazy he she's got bullshit.
- 49:44I'm gonna have to put the mask back on, man.
- 49:45No. You got No, we got to let you go
- 49:47tell you got any. Chess going on here. 40 maybe
- 49:515D. Brian Who's who's safe?
- 49:53A lot of DS man. There's a lot of DS.
- 49:57Hey, I, I, I've got five names. It's JC Price, it's Fontell,
- 50:04it's Coach Brooks, it's Cheetah and it's Bowen.
- 50:10They are safe at this point. To me, Price, I think speaks for
- 50:16itself. I think the the the play of his
- 50:19unit and how he's recruited in the last couple cycles speaks
- 50:23for itself. I think the output that we're
- 50:26seeing from a developmental standpoint and from a recruiting
- 50:29standpoint from Brooks speaks for itself.
- 50:32I think we look at Fontell, he's shown the capability of bringing
- 50:37in guys. And when we look at Cheetah, I
- 50:43think we're seeing, again, very, very good developmental
- 50:46cornerbacks. Coach hasn't really seen an
- 50:50elite recruit, but also has done a really good job of developing
- 50:54the guys that he's brought in kind of in that high three star,
- 50:58you know, low 4 area there. And to Sheldon's point, I think
- 51:02Bowen, the biggest complaint I have about Bowen is kind of what
- 51:07we've already talked about is when, when the chips are down,
- 51:11when when we start getting into those moments where we can stomp
- 51:16on a, on a, on a throat. We don't always do that.
- 51:21That's my biggest complaint about him.
- 51:23I think he's done a good job of kind of adapting to his
- 51:26personnel as a play caller and getting points on the board has
- 51:31been pretty good. So I've got no no big qualms
- 51:33with him, but also I'll I'll pivot on on Tally's point a
- 51:38little bit here too. As far as you know, the young
- 51:41guys playing. I think we see this staff has
- 51:45been in all three years conservative.
- 51:48I think especially early in the year of getting young guys on
- 51:52the field in situations where they don't have to, right, Like
- 51:58when when you've got a veteran at a position.
- 52:02Now when we look at cornerback and safety, we've had situations
- 52:08where we've had to get guys on the field early for obvious
- 52:11reasons. And those are death, death
- 52:13related. But when we look at some of
- 52:14these other positions, we've been a little bit hesitant to
- 52:17get the younger guy, younger player on the field when we've
- 52:22had the opportunity just because we do have a little more veteran
- 52:25leadership in that particular room.
- 52:28I'm hoping that changes a little bit.
- 52:29I hope when we mix things up as we kind of move into the last
- 52:34three games of the season here, because at this point, most of
- 52:37these guys have games they can still burn.
- 52:39Let's get them some run, especially now that we're out of
- 52:43contention for Charlotte. Put them out there and let let's
- 52:47see what they can do. All right, so there we go.
- 52:51So you are JC Brooks Cheetah Bone, right?
- 52:57JC Mines Brooks. Cheetah, you said mines OK
- 53:01awesome. I got four and these are the
- 53:03only four safe in my opinion. JC is definitely safe.
- 53:06The defensive line eats. You see those guys playing a
- 53:10high level, older, younger all across the board.
- 53:14Fontelle clearly safe. The recruiting proudness is
- 53:17there. I'm going to throw a curveball
- 53:20because this is one y'all have not mentioned, but he is a stud
- 53:23recruiter and I got called out a couple weeks ago by somebody not
- 53:27realizing it. Sean Quinn.
- 53:29Sean Quinn's not going anywhere. Sean Quinn recruited Chance
- 53:32Wiggins, he recruited Christian Evans, he recruited Aiden, he
- 53:35recruited Aiden Stevens, he recruited Overton.
- 53:37He's Woodson's primary. Think about that right there.
- 53:41Think about all those names. How many of those guys are on
- 53:44the field doing something already?
- 53:46Just about all of them. And Jeff Overton is, as per
- 53:49tally, probably the most underrated running back in the
- 53:51entire country. Yeah.
- 53:55Give me also Elijah Brooks. Nobody else is safe.
- 53:59Those guys are safe because I've seen development from their
- 54:03positions. I'll suppose all Sean Quinn take
- 54:05a risk with Caleb Spencer early in the year and you know, he had
- 54:09to go to the table to pry and say I need Caleb to play and how
- 54:15much better that room has gotten between Keanta and Caleb
- 54:19Spencer. So that's my four.
- 54:21If we if we take a look at all of ours, JC is the safest.
- 54:25Brooks is pretty safe. Then we have our missus here and
- 54:29there. We got Fontell pretty safe.
- 54:31But that's the thing we start seeing.
- 54:33We don't know what goes on behind the scenes because
- 54:35apparently whoever's up in the booth that does the plays, what
- 54:39if that's somebody we listed? What if that's the person that's
- 54:42supposed to be feeding in the two minutes, hey, when to call
- 54:44the timeout and they're fucking up.
- 54:46You could love them. Be like, I love him.
- 54:48He does all this good stuff and he's realized, oh, he's the guy
- 54:51that so still coach want to call timeouts and he ain't doing his
- 54:53job right. How would you feel about that?
- 54:56What if I know Fantail's on the sidelines, but we love Fantail.
- 54:59But what if that was Fantail's job and he was screwing up
- 55:02getting in the timeouts? Would we love him more or would
- 55:05be like, wait a second, you can recruit, but are you, are you
- 55:09not telling them when they call the timeouts right?
- 55:11And that's your job. You turn into a big boy football
- 55:17organization and you get people and designate certain jobs to
- 55:21them. If you ain't doing a good job of
- 55:23telling people when to call the time out, then you shouldn't be,
- 55:26you shouldn't be doing that. If you're good at recruiting as
- 55:30a recruiter, I don't know. It's just different things that
- 55:32you can do. Another thing I was going to say
- 55:34too, a lot of people were, I think everybody on here besides
- 55:39me would say, you know, Bowen's doing a good job.
- 55:43He is, you know, kind of safe. And I'm just asking the
- 55:48question, who calls the plays? Does he call the plays?
- 55:51He sends the plays in. He is the play caller.
- 55:53Why the fuck would you send a play in for a quarterback that
- 55:57has a bum leg to run the ball? And you did it in two games.
- 56:04You did it in Vanderbilt when Kyron was cramping up.
- 56:07Y'all, he had to come off the field.
- 56:10Then you put him back in and you do a running play that your two
- 56:14backup quarterbacks could have did, and then you push Lee in
- 56:18and he's got to bum ankle and you call a run and play.
- 56:23Why not just let Pop Watson run it?
- 56:25I don't know, man. I don't feel like he's safe.
- 56:28I don't the reason I don't think he's safe and and I Shelton, I
- 56:32know you're looking at the statistics and that the
- 56:34percentage is there are times he is effectively the guy playing
- 56:39craps. Either he's hitting and it's
- 56:42rolling or he's rolling snake eyes every time and just busting
- 56:44the board up. Because there are times in the
- 56:47game where it's like we need a big drive and nothing happens.
- 56:52And now I know that's some execution that summoned him, but
- 56:56it's still ultimately going to fall on the coach.
- 56:59And that's my bigger issue with him because when he's rolling,
- 57:03when he's rolling like he was, go back to BC in that first half
- 57:07where everything was hidden, Kyron was nailing the passes,
- 57:10perfect run blocks, lane seal for Duden.
- 57:13That's great. But that third quarter happened,
- 57:16if we don't recall, where we couldn't do a fucking thing,
- 57:19remember that we couldn't do a thing, and they got back in the
- 57:22game. Well, we also kept him.
- 57:25We also kept giving them the ball.
- 57:27We did. And we?
- 57:28Turned off as a coach, but the whole piece is we go, he goes
- 57:32hot and cold and I'm going to tell you when it's cold is scary
- 57:36because you're like we can't even get 10 yards.
- 57:40We can't even get a first down. That's why I'm I'm more.
- 57:45Do you completely fire him? I don't know, but there's
- 57:48obviously things like that. What else y'all got on this
- 57:51subject? Anybody?
- 57:55Nothing. No, not really, Sheldon.
- 57:58You look like he was gonna say something.
- 58:00He did. Yeah.
- 58:00I would say the one thing that makes this analysis tricky for
- 58:03me is the fact that I feel like the team this year has first of
- 58:06all, they definitely prove him last year qualitatively.
- 58:09And I think for the most part, they've played good football in
- 58:12terms of just, you know, being efficient and, you know, look,
- 58:15they're they're top 30 in most of the metrics.
- 58:17You know, they're they're top three and point differential.
- 58:19Like if you're just looking at the play on the field, they've
- 58:22been a good team for the most part.
- 58:25It's just the the complete inability to manage the game is
- 58:29the reason they're five and four.
- 58:30And that falls on not the assistant coaches, but one
- 58:34person. And I think we.
- 58:35And that's, and that's where I'm at, you know, like I'm going
- 58:38through this because that's what we are here to do.
- 58:40But none of it matters if the head man ain't right like
- 58:46Sheldon, great job, man. I mean, he shit, he summed up
- 58:50kind of everything that I feel is because you can get rid of
- 58:54this. So you can do that and you can
- 58:55do this, but it's the head coach.
- 58:58Like I can be mad at Tyler Bowen for things he's doing with the
- 59:01offense. But if you know, the head coach
- 59:03is saying we're up 21 to three, do not run any passing plays.
- 59:10I don't know what that I don't know what they're telling him,
- 59:12but I know that. I know we have a head coach that
- 59:16runs the program and he's like one in 11 or one in 12 in one
- 59:22score games. I need that to change so.
- 59:29All right, well, I'm, I'm gonna flip it because again, it all is
- 59:32on the head coach. But again, you know, that's why
- 59:38I keep saying it. None of us.
- 59:40What is, what's the old, what's the old island saying, Brian?
- 59:43Well, you can't. You can't.
- 59:44Do no man is an island to himself?
- 59:46Well, I was thinking more, you can't do the same thing over and
- 59:49over and expecting the results. So I mean, if it's not working,
- 59:52you got to do something. So that's kind of that's the
- 59:55point of the exercise, right? Like whether that's focused on
- 1:00:00make trying to make the head coach better or whether that's
- 1:00:03bringing in some guys around the head coach to make him better.
- 1:00:06But to Shelton's point. It's only going to get so good
- 1:00:10to a point where at some point you've got to get better at
- 1:00:14manage of the game because if you're not managing the game
- 1:00:16well, you're going to keep consistently losing these tight
- 1:00:19games. That's true.
- 1:00:21That's when those little things that a coach does matters the
- 1:00:25most. You can, you can have a a fuck
- 1:00:27up or two as a head coach when you're winning by 18 and you
- 1:00:31keep winning by 18. But when you when that 18
- 1:00:34shrinks down to three or four or seven, now all those little,
- 1:00:38little things that you're doing, those little, little wrinkles
- 1:00:41here or there where you don't use a timeout or you don't put
- 1:00:45your foot on the gas when you need to, that's going to add up.
- 1:00:50True. All right.
- 1:00:52Is there you, you got to tell again, a part of this exercise
- 1:00:55too is you're you're the advisor.
- 1:00:57You're the advisor to Coach Prop.
- 1:00:59Whether you say get rid of him or we're going to give him
- 1:01:02another chance, who's the person?
- 1:01:06I don't care if it's 123, it can be.
- 1:01:08It can be all nine. To Tally's point, I'm sure Tally
- 1:01:10won't fire everybody. So it is true who is in the
- 1:01:15who's, who's in the box with the book.
- 1:01:17I don't think I've seen Chris on the sidelines.
- 1:01:19I don't know who's up in the box with the book.
- 1:01:21That's what that's on the sidelines.
- 1:01:23Because Tebow's in the booth that that be that's.
- 1:01:25I don't. I don't think Tebow's got the
- 1:01:27book. I think it's one of the other.
- 1:01:28Analysts. But I'm just saying like, you
- 1:01:30don't, you don't give the book to Tebow.
- 1:01:32I mean. What do y'all think about Chris?
- 1:01:33We didn't even we didn't talk about him.
- 1:01:35He doesn't see it on the right now.
- 1:01:36What y'all think about him? What do I think about Chris?
- 1:01:38Yeah, what I think about Chris is where Kyron is right now.
- 1:01:44He is the mechanical quarterback coach, right?
- 1:01:47Bowen's. Bowen's a coordinator.
- 1:01:48Bowen's trying to get the offense moving.
- 1:01:50I haven't seen the improvement from Kyron like we were
- 1:01:54expecting. And I think that falls directly
- 1:01:57on Brian. Chris, you know, I, I and, and I
- 1:02:00can't remember who I saw say this and I, I want to give them
- 1:02:03credit, but the question is to, you know, you saw Kyron go down
- 1:02:08to South Beach. Is that who he should have been
- 1:02:10working out with this year? Was it you, Sheldon?
- 1:02:14Did you send that somebody made? That.
- 1:02:17Somebody made that message. I wish I remember who it was.
- 1:02:20If you it was you, put yourself in the chat, I'll shout you out.
- 1:02:24But did he make a mistake going down there working out with
- 1:02:26those guys? He's not those guys.
- 1:02:30Did he make a mistake working out with the wrong guys in the
- 1:02:33offseason? I don't know.
- 1:02:34Is Brian Criss doing a good enough job to develop people?
- 1:02:37You know, everybody's like, well, look, Colin Schlee, Colin
- 1:02:39Schlee played six years. Some guys have just played long
- 1:02:43enough. The mechanics are going to come
- 1:02:44more natural for them. So maybe you're right, Tally.
- 1:02:48Maybe you're looking at some of these analysts who aren't
- 1:02:50effectively doing their jobs and improving people, but.
- 1:02:56Again, I don't know, I mean, I just look at certain things.
- 1:02:59I'm like, you know, Pop has been on the Pop has been on campus
- 1:03:04for two years, you know, 18 months.
- 1:03:07What have we seen from him? You know, can he, what can he do
- 1:03:11for us? You know, looking at Karen, I
- 1:03:15wouldn't say when you talk about, you know, Karen going and
- 1:03:20out with, you know, the other guys and stuff.
- 1:03:22I wouldn't say that that is a a bad thing because you are
- 1:03:25getting some coaching from a quarterback coach and you're
- 1:03:29getting some things that's going to help you monetarily as far
- 1:03:33far as NIL or getting you some podcast looks and stuff.
- 1:03:36But when those players come back, they're coming back to
- 1:03:39you, you as a coach, you have to take what they've done and what
- 1:03:42you see and say that ain't going to work or what you've done
- 1:03:47here. We have to switch that up or
- 1:03:49hey, you ain't ready, you ain't going to play, you know, I don't
- 1:03:52know. That's the kind of things I look
- 1:03:53at from the coaches. I just don't, you know, I don't
- 1:03:56know, man. I got.
- 1:03:57You. I got you all right.
- 1:03:59Well, that. Was.
- 1:03:59I mean, that was good. Let's make some tough decisions
- 1:04:02here though, because I like what this is, James, who got to see
- 1:04:05the presser today. Not afraid of tough
- 1:04:07conversations you had to make a conversation with.
- 1:04:11Yourself and your staff and not just the players.
- 1:04:13Not just the players, I think. That's I think we're getting to
- 1:04:17a point where you know that that's where we're coming to a
- 1:04:19head and. Who's then?
- 1:04:23Brian, who's got to go? You sitting across from Coach
- 1:04:25Pride, you've been given $100,000.
- 1:04:28Coach you, you got to let these guys go.
- 1:04:30I'm sorry, or you've got to do this?
- 1:04:32To to me it is, it is coach Marv and and I think coach Marv is a
- 1:04:36good guy, but to me, too many late game collapses from this
- 1:04:41defense and from looking at him for just from a coaching
- 1:04:46perspective, his unit is not good enough to justify also the
- 1:04:52fact that he is kind of a recruiting liability as well.
- 1:04:56So you, you put those three things together, that tells me
- 1:04:59that Marv has to go. OK, just Marv nobody else right
- 1:05:04now. If you're saying has to go, so
- 1:05:07there's going to be some guys that I could have a conversation
- 1:05:10with you about as well, but the only person that I think has to
- 1:05:14go is Coach Marv. OK, Shelton.
- 1:05:21So I'm going to punt here and and I'm not, I'm not going to
- 1:05:24say anyone has to go, but I will say I'm certainly underwhelmed
- 1:05:28with Marv, you know, given that he's, you know, the leader of
- 1:05:33the defense. And I just I think they have
- 1:05:37stagnated a little bit. I don't think they've really,
- 1:05:40you know, when I look at the offense, I see a team that's
- 1:05:42going to kind of over performed a little bit like they've sort
- 1:05:45of made the most out of the cards that they've been dealt.
- 1:05:48I don't really say the same for the defense because they were,
- 1:05:51you know, they were good in price.
- 1:05:52They were decent in price first year.
- 1:05:54You know, they had the opportunity to to build and
- 1:05:57recruit these last two years in the portal.
- 1:05:58Whereas with the offense, I mean, they were starting
- 1:06:00literally from scratch and it's been kind of a slow, you know,
- 1:06:02the steady progress, but the offense has gotten incrementally
- 1:06:05better every season by, you know, a pretty wide margin
- 1:06:08defense. I think they've stagnated.
- 1:06:10They took a step back this year. There was a top 30 defense last
- 1:06:13year. They're they're they're taking a
- 1:06:14step back and they're like 50-60 this year.
- 1:06:16So yeah, it's it's not only stagnated, it's a step back.
- 1:06:20You can't fire them all, but you got to tell them hey, get rid of
- 1:06:23this. Call them all in the room and
- 1:06:26cuss them all out, starting with the head coach.
- 1:06:28You cuss him too. You you you messing up too.
- 1:06:32But bars. I like you buddy, but one of my
- 1:06:36coaching buddies said you won't recruit none of his players.
- 1:06:39He's got a, he's got a, a championship winning team.
- 1:06:45I think he's lost four games in four years at a high school
- 1:06:50here, and he knows Marr very well.
- 1:06:53Besides all that, you keep on fucking up, man, and I liked
- 1:06:57you. I wanted to, but you got to go
- 1:07:00Stew, hope, put on your book bag and start hitch hiking.
- 1:07:08Halloween's over. You ain't got to worry about
- 1:07:10Michael Miles and nobody chasing you.
- 1:07:12Just ease on down, ease on down the road.
- 1:07:15I still have the. RV You think You think you still
- 1:07:18got the RV? It's so hard for me.
- 1:07:21It's so hard for me for the Stew hope thing because I mean, we
- 1:07:23did have a lot of different collapses and things like that.
- 1:07:26But at the same time, if I'm going to give, you know, go at a
- 1:07:30coach, I got to give him some credit.
- 1:07:31I mean, we do have John Love, who is the man, you know, he has
- 1:07:36to be developed by somebody. Peter Moore same booming the
- 1:07:40ball. So what I mean took a Holloway,
- 1:07:45if he was there, you know, I feel like Lane, I feel like Lane
- 1:07:48this year has been as I don't know if he's injured, he's just
- 1:07:51a step different, especially on punt, you know, I don't know if
- 1:07:55you can put somebody else back there, but it's been sometimes
- 1:07:58when I've seen maybe some holes open up and Lane's just not as
- 1:08:01quick to get there as he was. So I hate to say it about Stu.
- 1:08:06Like I feel bad to say Stu has to go, but if I'm just having
- 1:08:11that tough conversation, I'm sorry that things didn't work
- 1:08:15out for you. You did a good job by getting us
- 1:08:17love, but you got to go to all right.
- 1:08:19First of all, I'm going to put what Jim said up here.
- 1:08:22Yes, this is the exercise, Jim. You got to throw somebody under
- 1:08:26the bus. Jim, are you going to keep Jim?
- 1:08:28I know you're out there, you're always with us.
- 1:08:30I love you because you put a great bunch of comments in and
- 1:08:33I'm going to throw this right to Jim.
- 1:08:35So Jim, are you not letting anybody go?
- 1:08:375 and 4 is acceptable, 7:00 and 6:00 last year was acceptable.
- 1:08:42I'm going to put that on you because I'm going to do the
- 1:08:44other question in a second. Six and six this year.
- 1:08:46Is that acceptable? Is that acceptable?
- 1:08:48Maybe seven and six would have both six and seven, whatever.
- 1:08:51But I'm also going to go more because I keep saying, y'all,
- 1:08:58how often is Pry in that room? How many times, because I'm
- 1:09:04sitting here, I'm going to say, you know what, the Stanford
- 1:09:06game, Brent Pryor was in that room all week.
- 1:09:08He created that game plan. That's why we only gave up
- 1:09:11seven. Then he turned it back over and
- 1:09:13then BC and then all this. So and it's more of the there's
- 1:09:20there's a model out there. They got wrote this year by
- 1:09:23Clark Lee where if you're a defensive head coach, take over
- 1:09:26to defense, go find some senior guy to help out with the
- 1:09:30offense. Look what's happened with
- 1:09:32Vanderbilt and I know they have a good quarterback, but you saw
- 1:09:36that right and happened right. They beat us.
- 1:09:39They beat Alabama. They they should have beat they
- 1:09:41got they got a job to Texas to Texas was a job.
- 1:09:44They should have beat Texas. The SEC couldn't let that SEC
- 1:09:48couldn't let that happen. They couldn't let that
- 1:09:50Vanderbilt team beat another good team.
- 1:09:52But for, but for Chris Maher, it's it Brian says that the,
- 1:09:56the, the, it's the collapses at the end.
- 1:09:59And and y'all, I'm going to go back.
- 1:10:00You know, even like the last couple years we've had those,
- 1:10:04you know, we've had those games last year where we fell apart at
- 1:10:08the end. You know, think about the
- 1:10:10Marshall game. I know we always put on the
- 1:10:12offense, but the defense gave up all the second-half points, you
- 1:10:16know, so and again, I think he is a nice human being.
- 1:10:20He's probably a great football mind.
- 1:10:21But it's like I think somebody put in the chat about an hour
- 1:10:25ago when we were first starting. It doesn't feel like he has the
- 1:10:27killer instinct mentality to be A, to be a defensive
- 1:10:30coordinator, which you have to have, which you absolutely have
- 1:10:35to have. I need my defensive coordinators
- 1:10:37to be sweaty. I know Marv is black, but I want
- 1:10:40him to be red like Kirby Smart be, you know, freaking yelling
- 1:10:45on the sideline like Will Muschamp used to be.
- 1:10:48I need to see you, like, get on somebody.
- 1:10:51I think we were in zero coverage.
- 1:10:53And you know, Monsieur comes up and tries to jump around, misses
- 1:10:57a tackle guy looks like he's running with a peg leg and goes
- 1:11:01and scores a touchdown. And you know, it's 21 to three.
- 1:11:05You get a stop right there. If you just come up and tackle
- 1:11:07that guy, I think it's 4th and three or fourth and four,
- 1:11:11something like that. And you know, we see what
- 1:11:13happens and that's a totally different game.
- 1:11:15When that happens, I want the camera to pan to my defensive
- 1:11:18coordinator and him to be a wreck.
- 1:11:21I want him to throw his headset. I want him to grab the person
- 1:11:24that mess. I want, I want to see some
- 1:11:26emotion, you know, I just think our coaching staff is too nice,
- 1:11:30you know, I think they follow that from the head coach A.
- 1:11:33Little too even keel, I think. You won't even keel, but
- 1:11:36sometimes it's. You got to get angry.
- 1:11:38You got to get angry. You got to have another gear,
- 1:11:41right? Like, I think that's that,
- 1:11:43that's what I think we're maybe missing is that we don't have
- 1:11:46that extra gear that this staff can kind of light into when they
- 1:11:51need to, to kind of bring things back when the when the wheels
- 1:11:57fall off a little bit. All right, because because we we
- 1:12:01see that snowball happen a lot now.
- 1:12:02It doesn't it doesn't happen with the frequency that we saw
- 1:12:06in year 1, but we're still seeing that snowball effect
- 1:12:11happened in these games. We're just a lot more talented
- 1:12:14now where it doesn't end up, you know, being a completely fall
- 1:12:17off the Cliff situation. Yeah, I'm going to put up Jim
- 1:12:20because Jim, appreciate the answer man.
- 1:12:22I actually I like this a lot right here, but but that that's
- 1:12:30another story. By the way, Robbie agreeing with
- 1:12:33the linebackers. Y'all think Jim also asked, does
- 1:12:37anybody bail on us? Well, that's just the fact of
- 1:12:40life. Somebody could easily leave this
- 1:12:42offseason and we wouldn't be shocked.
- 1:12:44So right, like, like, you know, as much as Tally was joking on
- 1:12:51Stu Holt, Caitlin de Boer might be like, man, he knows how to do
- 1:12:55punters and kickers. We have that problem down at
- 1:12:57Alabama. Let me go pay him $750,000.
- 1:13:00He knows how to train them. That's just the fact of life and
- 1:13:03coaching in general nowadays at college football that if
- 1:13:06somebody from a blue blood program wants one of your guys,
- 1:13:11they usually can write the checks.
- 1:13:14So, yeah. All right.
- 1:13:15Last question. And by the way, told you I was
- 1:13:18going to be an hour doing this. I don't lie.
- 1:13:21I know my, I know my boys here. I know how we talk on this shit.
- 1:13:25But if Brent Pry is let go and I think Jim, you put it in there,
- 1:13:34does Whip Babcock make that decision?
- 1:13:35Sheldon, I'm putting this on you.
- 1:13:37A, you work in athletic departments before you are an
- 1:13:41alumni out of the school. Should Whip Babcock be the
- 1:13:45person that makes that decision? I would say, I would say no.
- 1:13:51I think, you know, first of all, Witt is certainly closing on the
- 1:13:56end of his Virginia Tech tenure. And that's not, you know, some
- 1:13:58some drastic statement like he's been here 10 years.
- 1:14:00He's not going to be here for, you know, an extreme long amount
- 1:14:03of time. Like, you know, you, you'll get
- 1:14:052 football hires if you mess up on both of them.
- 1:14:09That's probably all. So, you know, I could see a
- 1:14:11situation maybe Witt, you know, a few years says, hey, you know
- 1:14:14what, I'm moving on and then maybe prior stays next day he
- 1:14:17comes in can reevaluate things from there.
- 1:14:21But I do think that's his tenure is certainly closer to to being
- 1:14:27done than it is to being started.
- 1:14:29So. Callie.
- 1:14:35You got to get out of there. He can't make no more highs.
- 1:14:39You can't. You can't make no more football
- 1:14:41highs, buddy. Sorry, I mean, again, I've
- 1:14:46talked about this with a couple people too.
- 1:14:49When we hired Fuente like that was a was that not a splash
- 1:14:54hire? Like that was Florida State did
- 1:14:55the same thing. That was a great hire.
- 1:14:58Like when hired Norville, it was like, man, Florida State did a
- 1:15:02great job, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:15:04And then he takes him to the playoffs and something.
- 1:15:05So I can't put it all on wit, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:15:09Sometimes it just has to do with fit.
- 1:15:11I don't think Brett Pryor was a bad hire, you know what I'm
- 1:15:14saying? So it's hard to answer that
- 1:15:16question. It just comes down to kind of
- 1:15:19what Sheldon says. It's like, OK, like, is it time
- 1:15:22for him to move on? Is it time for him to go ahead
- 1:15:24and do something different? And hopefully the next person
- 1:15:27that comes in has a concentration in something,
- 1:15:31hopefully football. But again, a lot of people rag
- 1:15:37on Wit, but I don't think that the highest that he made were
- 1:15:42like erroneous. Like, I don't think they were
- 1:15:45crazy. I just think that sometimes it
- 1:15:47doesn't work out. Now, do we stick with stuff too
- 1:15:51long? That may be more of the issue of
- 1:15:53how long do you let somebody stay before it's time for them
- 1:15:56to go or you make them make changes.
- 1:16:01I I. Will say this, I, I, I have a
- 1:16:03bigger problem with not necessarily who that he's picked
- 1:16:08for a lot of these spots, but maybe how he's managed them
- 1:16:12after that pick. And that's the tally's point a
- 1:16:15little bit, whether it goes back to how quickly you put yourself
- 1:16:19behind the 8 ball with Fuentes contract with that extension.
- 1:16:24You know, we can talk about some other things on the basketball
- 1:16:27front. I mean, there there are things
- 1:16:29that I think we do sometimes where we lock ourselves into bad
- 1:16:31situations. If you're wet, if you lock
- 1:16:34yourself into a bad situation, then you have to own it a little
- 1:16:37bit more than you have. And that means let your guy know
- 1:16:41a if it's not working, you got to do something different,
- 1:16:44whether that's fire guys, hire guys, do something.
- 1:16:47You got to, if you going to put yourself in a position where you
- 1:16:52have less control over the situation from a contract
- 1:16:55standpoint, you have to govern that a little more close to your
- 1:16:59vest and not just be the guy that's overseeing the big ship
- 1:17:02here. So that that's been my problem
- 1:17:05with wit. And to that point, you've had
- 1:17:08two situations where you got into this point you don't get
- 1:17:111/3. Nah, Nope.
- 1:17:14Sheldon, close this out. Yeah.
- 1:17:17So just to kind of, you know, put a cap around the wit
- 1:17:20discussion, I will say I think, you know, wit's always been a
- 1:17:23big baseball guy. Like he played baseball at GMU
- 1:17:25and I talked with John Chef one time.
- 1:17:27He he straight of told me like he's perceived as a guy that
- 1:17:29really gets baseball. So that's kind of his sport.
- 1:17:32That's his expertise And you know, say H1 about the baseball
- 1:17:34program. I'm just doing doing a good on
- 1:17:36that that rabbit hole. But I think as an, as an AD,
- 1:17:40like, you know, you have to have a certain type of feel for what
- 1:17:44support needs. Like I was listening to a
- 1:17:45podcast with a softball coach I used to work with and she's
- 1:17:48telling me like when she took the job at the at, at the school
- 1:17:51she was working at, like she had an AD who really understood
- 1:17:54softball and, and what that program needed to be successful.
- 1:17:57I think the issue with wit is that he just does not have the
- 1:18:01the football background to sort of have a good feel for like,
- 1:18:05you know, what, what good coaching looks like and what the
- 1:18:08program necessarily needs to be successful.
- 1:18:10And that's not to say that, you know, everything's bad or, you
- 1:18:13know, maybe pride does work out eventually, But I just think
- 1:18:15there's there's something missing on a fundamental level
- 1:18:18that that sort of stems from the fact that witches isn't truly on
- 1:18:21a fundamental level a big football guy.
- 1:18:23And I think you can kind of see that kind of filter out to the
- 1:18:25rest of the program. All righty.
- 1:18:28So there it is. We told our truth as much as we
- 1:18:31could on the situation. Obviously, I think we all feel
- 1:18:36this way and I don't think anybody doesn't feel this way.
- 1:18:39Where we stand right now, changes have to be made.
- 1:18:43Changes have to be made because I'm like what somebody said in
- 1:18:46the chat a little while ago. We sat here in December.
- 1:18:50I'm trying to get the exact date.
- 1:18:51When was the last press conference?
- 1:18:54December, probably my mama's birthday.
- 1:18:57December 2nd, yeah. Second, if December 2nd, there
- 1:19:03is not a discussion of so and so have been let go, so and so has
- 1:19:07been let go, so and so has been let go.
- 1:19:09We're moving forward. Then guess what?
- 1:19:13Somebody like me at A5, I'm coming up with Tally and
- 1:19:16Shelton. I'm like at A7 because then it's
- 1:19:19like, what are you doing? What are you doing?
- 1:19:22Like fucking is tally. You put the record up a little
- 1:19:26bit earlier to us. 15 and 1815 and 18 don't work.
- 1:19:31Don't care if you win these last three games, you get to 18 and
- 1:19:331818 and 18 does not work. Especially when this is the
- 1:19:37case. You won an 11 and one score
- 1:19:39games. Yo.
- 1:19:39He's 14 and seven in other games.
- 1:19:43You imagine flipping that narrative of close games and
- 1:19:46just split it in half and being like 20 and 13, we'd be feeling
- 1:19:51really good from where we were in 2022.
- 1:19:54But that is what it is. Anything else y'all want to say
- 1:19:56before we we do have to talk about the keys to this game this
- 1:20:00weekend? And I know I told y'all this was
- 1:20:03going to take a lot out of us. We've been talking all this shit
- 1:20:05for the last hour. So anything else I'll give you
- 1:20:11all I. Got man, I've got it off my
- 1:20:13chest. I'm ready to move on.
- 1:20:15Let's talk about the keys of this Clemson game, let's talk
- 1:20:19some predictions, and then let's let's make some fun picks to
- 1:20:22close this bitch out and then y'all can go look at the
- 1:20:24electoral maps if y'all want to. No, I got that up over here.
- 1:20:27Well, Brian, you said what's your, what's your keys?
- 1:20:32I mean, I think we already talked about it a lot tonight
- 1:20:34and it's going to it's going to carry over here, man.
- 1:20:37I need to see great situational football from the coaches and
- 1:20:41the players in this game. Listen, I want to see.
- 1:20:46That's the key to success. All right, Sean Natali.
- 1:20:53Well, I'll go next. I just I mean, I hate to kind of
- 1:20:55sound redundant and sound, you know, say what Brian says, but
- 1:20:58mine was coach you you have to coach, you know, to beat
- 1:21:02Clemson, you're going to have to I don't even want to say out
- 1:21:06coaching. You're going to have to coach
- 1:21:07them though. You have to coach, you know,
- 1:21:09you're going to have to make adjustments.
- 1:21:11You're going to have to have some timeouts called at the
- 1:21:15right times and certain. You got to go in and coach, you
- 1:21:19know, I'll even go a step farther.
- 1:21:23You got to coach like your job depends on it.
- 1:21:26That's going to be a quick key to beating Clemson.
- 1:21:29You can't be going in here and happy that Hokey Nation showed
- 1:21:34up and we sold out another game. You got to be if we don't win
- 1:21:39this game, this might be it, right?
- 1:21:42We we need to have that mindset for the rest of the year as the
- 1:21:44culture staff, in my opinion. What about you, Sheldon?
- 1:21:49Act like you're the better team. I mean, we've seen Tech, you
- 1:21:52know, handle handle competition against against team that they
- 1:21:55they should, that they're better than.
- 1:21:56And I think this is a game where, you know, for the first
- 1:21:58time in a long time, Vt has a has a good chance to beat
- 1:22:00Clemson. I think they match up well.
- 1:22:01I think that, you know, the the teams aren't too different and
- 1:22:04this again, that they're more than capable of winning.
- 1:22:05So come into the game acts like you're the better team at
- 1:22:08expecting that you should win. I like that.
- 1:22:11I'm going to go back to something that a couple people
- 1:22:14said earlier. I want to see meanness.
- 1:22:17And when I say meanness, not only from the players or from
- 1:22:21the coaches, I want to see Brent Pryor this week because there's
- 1:22:23going to be some bullshit call. There's one every week to
- 1:22:27fucking get in, slam something, show emotion.
- 1:22:29I want to see guys on the sidelines show emotion.
- 1:22:32I want to see if a player fucks up.
- 1:22:35I want to see the. I mean, we saw Frank do it.
- 1:22:37Y'all even older Frank would grab a guy about a face mask and
- 1:22:40get in their face. We saw that.
- 1:22:42Get mean. Set a tone.
- 1:22:46Because nice guys don't win football games.
- 1:22:49Assholes win football games and we're playing too nice.
- 1:22:53Get mean because I think one of those wide receivers go across
- 1:22:57the middle and most Phillips lays the hammer on them.
- 1:23:00Don't get a targeting penalty, please.
- 1:23:02We ain't good enough. It's safety to lose.
- 1:23:03Somebody set the tone, coaches set the tone.
- 1:23:07That's the key to me this week and I'm going to go ahead and
- 1:23:11roll into my prediction. And as much as I want to see him
- 1:23:15play mean, I think unfortunately King, Clemson getting kicked in
- 1:23:18the balls last weekend was not good for us.
- 1:23:22I think we play competitive, but I do think we lose this game
- 1:23:26somewhere in the neighborhood, similar to Miami like a 3831
- 1:23:30game. I do think we put some points on
- 1:23:32them, even though that defense is good.
- 1:23:35No one Capehart is out now, no one Tooting likely back another
- 1:23:38questionable I think. I think they get us by a
- 1:23:41touchdown. Yeah, I said I'll go.
- 1:23:48My prediction was I think it's going to be a little bit more
- 1:23:52than that. Clemson probably about 45 to 28.
- 1:23:56So we got too many people injured, you know, from, you
- 1:24:01know, process this person questionable, questionable,
- 1:24:03questionable. They're probably not playing.
- 1:24:05So I think we got too many people injured to to come out
- 1:24:10with a win in this game. All right.
- 1:24:13Yeah, I'm unfortunately not to say Clemson.
- 1:24:16A couple reasons. Like Curtis said, they're going
- 1:24:18to be pissed off coming to this game, but they lost last week
- 1:24:20and they have a full game of film to study Schlee and the
- 1:24:23backup running back. So I just, I don't feel great
- 1:24:26with the matchup. I think V2 will backdoor cover
- 1:24:28but Clemson wins 30 to 24. I, I like the Tigers in this one
- 1:24:353428. I just, I don't think we're
- 1:24:38going to have enough gas in this on either side of the football
- 1:24:42to, to really get it done, take care of business here.
- 1:24:45I think it's going to be closer than a lot of people are
- 1:24:47thinking, especially after last week and especially considering
- 1:24:51who we may or may not have playing.
- 1:24:53I'm not really sure what to take away from that because, you
- 1:24:55know, last week we got a probable designation and then
- 1:24:59and then now we got a questionable designation for
- 1:25:02more players. But so who who's going to really
- 1:25:05know what that looks like? But let me ask you this.
- 1:25:08So we got our predictions in there.
- 1:25:10We all think the Tigers are going to win and, and I'm going
- 1:25:15to shout out Grayson Wimbish on this one.
- 1:25:17But if we win, is that going to piss you off a little bit?
- 1:25:24No. Why?
- 1:25:28So given given the outcomes in Rutgers, Miami against Syracuse,
- 1:25:36but then you go and beat Clemson.
- 1:25:38When it don't even matter. Doesn't matter.
- 1:25:40That could have mattered if you'd have just taken care of
- 1:25:42business. Let me tell you, going to bed on
- 1:25:44Saturday night with a win, I don't give a fuck who it's over
- 1:25:48is a hell of a lot better than going to bed with a fucking
- 1:25:50loss. All right, so that's some dumb
- 1:25:53bullshit. Grayson, I love you, but that's
- 1:25:55stupid. I will be mad if we beat Clemson
- 1:25:58because you say what you want to say to what Jonathan Talley said
- 1:26:01this year. That'd be a signature.
- 1:26:04There'd be kids saying, well, they fucked up those games, but
- 1:26:07they could be the team that good, right?
- 1:26:11Yeah, I won't be mad if we win. I just know that we ain't so I
- 1:26:16ain't even thinking about it. Yeah, I always, always
- 1:26:20appreciate every win you get, especially because it's off 25
- 1:26:22team. You got to appreciate the win.
- 1:26:24You also got to think, well, you know, this gets you bowl
- 1:26:26eligibility for you know, whether you whether you care
- 1:26:29about that or not, it. Gets you there.
- 1:26:30With two games left to play it's frustrating though.
- 1:26:34I I get it being frustrated. I'm not going to be mad at the
- 1:26:36win, but I can be frustrated at the win.
- 1:26:39You've proved against teams like Miami and then you go against
- 1:26:43the team and you take a win against a team like Clemson.
- 1:26:45You prove that you can do it. Your your consistency and those
- 1:26:50situational plays and coaching mistakes have cost you a chance
- 1:26:55to play for something more. But what it tells you is who in
- 1:26:59my room did so much better this week.
- 1:27:03That fucked up against Syracuse, who fucked up against man,
- 1:27:07because that's where your notes need to be taken.
- 1:27:09Oh, he's coaching his A off this week, but what did he do?
- 1:27:13Look at that week. He was a little lackadaisical,
- 1:27:16not as enthusiastic, not as punishing, not as right in
- 1:27:19people's faces. Clemson week, he got up.
- 1:27:21That's like players too, right? You get mad at players like he's
- 1:27:25trying to play his best right now because it's the national
- 1:27:28stage. Play every game like that.
- 1:27:33All right, sorry. All right.
- 1:27:35Anything else gentlemen as we close the door on that and move
- 1:27:38over to some gambling picks? I'm all set buddy.
- 1:27:43Let's do it. Let's rock big screeners as we
- 1:27:47get into Week 11, Week 11 and as always, Brian Siegler kicks us
- 1:27:53off. Which part of the country are
- 1:27:55you travelling to, Brian? Hey, we're going back to
- 1:27:58Nashville, baby. We got the, the, the, the
- 1:28:01Fighting Beamers heading to Vandy.
- 1:28:06Vandy getting 3 1/2 at home. And I mean, I've Vandy has
- 1:28:10played to the level of every single opponent they faced this
- 1:28:15season. And I don't think that changes.
- 1:28:18I think Vandy with that home field advantage escapes.
- 1:28:22I think they went out right here.
- 1:28:23So give me Vandy. Yep, I'm, I'm with you.
- 1:28:27I think South Carolina is coming off the biggest win of Shane
- 1:28:32Beamer's career down there. And I think it's going to be a
- 1:28:35let down game. And I think it's also exactly
- 1:28:38what you just said. Brian Vanderbilt shows up every
- 1:28:42week for who they play against. Doesn't matter who it is, the
- 1:28:45best team or the worst team. So I think when they're a home
- 1:28:48dog, give me the 3 1/2. I think Vanderbilt wins outright
- 1:28:51as well. I actually took I took USC,
- 1:28:56although Curtis makes a good point.
- 1:28:57That's like they they probably do for an emotional let down,
- 1:28:59but I don't know, I just, I think they're, I think they're
- 1:29:02legit. I think I think, you know, Coach
- 1:29:04Beaver's building up something pretty special.
- 1:29:05So I think, I think Vanny's due for a loss too.
- 1:29:09I took Vandy. They got some voodoo man at that
- 1:29:14field. So I'm just going to say Vandy.
- 1:29:18Until as long as they're playing games there while that thing is
- 1:29:21still under construction, they're going to.
- 1:29:22Have Yeah, some. Sort of weird advantage.
- 1:29:24Yeah, they're going to keep that thing under construction for the
- 1:29:27next like 10 years. Yeah.
- 1:29:30All right, Miranda goes Danny. And rode along with the rest of
- 1:29:33us there. Shelton.
- 1:29:34So you're out there on an island.
- 1:29:35He is on an island. I'm I'm both in it, that's OK.
- 1:29:38You guys are sheep. That's OK.
- 1:29:42All righty. Well, I'm taking us to Atlanta
- 1:29:47where the number four in the CFP.
- 1:29:51We didn't get to talk about that tonight because we had to unload
- 1:29:53our emotional baggage from Virginia Tech, the number 4
- 1:29:56ranked Miami Hurricanes go down to Georgia Tech Georgia Tech
- 1:30:01getting 11. Haynes King.
- 1:30:03I I did do some research on that.
- 1:30:06Still not sure if he's back or not, but even if he's back, I
- 1:30:12think when you saw last week Miami starts putting the gears.
- 1:30:16Duke has a good defense and when they start putting the gears
- 1:30:20down, you see it. It's like they do not miss when
- 1:30:25they're on offense. They are going to score and
- 1:30:28they're going to score a lot. I think it's going to be an
- 1:30:30entertaining game. Give me 4528 Miami.
- 1:30:39Yeah, Curtis, I'm with you there.
- 1:30:41I think Miami's just got too much offense.
- 1:30:44Even if King is able to go, I don't think Georgia Tech's gonna
- 1:30:48be able to keep up with that Miami offense.
- 1:30:50So I think the Hurricanes will win by about two touchdowns
- 1:30:53here. Shell, I think, I feel like
- 1:30:56Miami's due for a sloppy game. They'll still win but I think
- 1:31:00King with her a couple dumb picks and maybe GTO surprising
- 1:31:03people a little bit. All right, I'm, I'm going Miami.
- 1:31:11See, is he an island again? Nope.
- 1:31:15He's not joining him this week, right Is joining him on this
- 1:31:17one. Sticking with the the rest of
- 1:31:19the fellows here, all righty. Shelton Moss, you have the next
- 1:31:23one, Sir. I was super excited about this
- 1:31:26game, the Holy War, a state that have a a a clear affection for
- 1:31:30in Utah match up of a team in BYU that's been moving up the
- 1:31:34CIP rankings with each and everyone.
- 1:31:37I think it's kind of falling off of Utah, but you know, still
- 1:31:38have some good talent that team. So I think it'll be an
- 1:31:41interesting game. I'm going to take Utah.
- 1:31:42I think they'll be motivated in a big rivalry game.
- 1:31:44I don't know whatever what trophy they call it, but
- 1:31:47whatever trophy it is, they'll they'll keep it in Salt Lake
- 1:31:49City. I dig that and I'm riding with
- 1:31:54you there, Sheldon. I think this does come down to a
- 1:31:57field goal there at the end. But I think that, you know, 4
- 1:32:00points at home, this type of rivalry, just a little too rich
- 1:32:04for my blood. So give me Utah.
- 1:32:07All right, first of all, they play for the beehive boot in the
- 1:32:10Holy War. That's beehive boot.
- 1:32:13Everybody looked at one of those interesting things.
- 1:32:18BYU ranked 9th in the CFP. Y'all can see they would be the
- 1:32:22four seed. They would get a buy if things
- 1:32:25hold out. But in this one, being in Salt
- 1:32:28Lake City, being at Utah, Utah four and four.
- 1:32:31By the way, you want to talk about a team with expectations
- 1:32:33that have fell flat? Utah preseason top ten now 500.
- 1:32:38Y'all imagine if we were ranked 10th and we were five and four
- 1:32:41y'all, Y'all thinking hours long would have done tonight?
- 1:32:44Oh no, we would have been going for two just.
- 1:32:45A What if you was ranked 10th and you were one in seven?
- 1:32:48It's not, yeah, it's not FSU rock.
- 1:32:50Bottom it ain't FSU rock bottom, but still it they should have
- 1:32:54been better, but I'm kind of with Brian.
- 1:32:56I think I'll think Utah with the points.
- 1:32:59I think BYU probably sneaks it out the tally.
- 1:33:06What are you thinking, man? I'm going to take BYU, man.
- 1:33:09I just think, you know, they're playing good ball and Utah is
- 1:33:15not. So it's going to be a holy war
- 1:33:18and BYU is going to be on the side of the Lord or whatever
- 1:33:23they, whatever they, their version of the Lord all.
- 1:33:28Right, we got Miranda taking Utah, Jason, Ron with Tally
- 1:33:34saying go Cougars, go Cougars. Oh, Tally, Tally.
- 1:33:39Oh, you showed me what? Go ahead.
- 1:33:41Let's talk about it. Alabama, LSU, man, it is always,
- 1:33:46always a good game of a good rivalry game here.
- 1:33:50Everybody gets together down here for that game.
- 1:33:52It's, you know, similar to the Iron Bowl.
- 1:33:56Those games used to be like knock down drag outs 6 to 9,
- 1:34:01three to six games between Alabama and LSU.
- 1:34:04Might have times changed where the offenses are different, but
- 1:34:09just because it is going to LSUI think that LSU is going to pull
- 1:34:14this game out. I think they probably beat
- 1:34:16Alabama by about 7 is what I would think.
- 1:34:19By the way, LSU is getting the points, Brian.
- 1:34:22LSU is a home dog on that one. And what about you, Brian?
- 1:34:30Did I put it in here wrong? That's yeah, you put it, you
- 1:34:32flip-flopped. That's fine.
- 1:34:33We can correct it. Yeah, that's my.
- 1:34:35It's all right. Yeah, that's why I was riding
- 1:34:39with Alabama here. I, I, I think Alabama is going
- 1:34:43to going to win this by at least a touchdown all.
- 1:34:46Right. I'm going with tally with this
- 1:34:48one. I think LSU is, I think after
- 1:34:53the loss to A and MI think they bounced back.
- 1:34:55This isn't the Alabama of old being at Death Valley at night.
- 1:35:00I think that's enough. I think, Kyle, I think you're
- 1:35:02about right. I think I think a touchdown's
- 1:35:04about right. And probably like a 3138 game is
- 1:35:07going to be fun to watch Saturday night.
- 1:35:09And I think that with that, that effectively is going to keep out
- 1:35:13Bama's not making a playoff after this game.
- 1:35:17Yeah, I'm taking, I'm, I'm taking Bama.
- 1:35:20They're kind of for bye week. I think they're going to stop
- 1:35:23them honestly. I mean, not, not too big a win,
- 1:35:25but they'll come out and they'll they'll handle business.
- 1:35:27All right, this is an elimination game, pretty much.
- 1:35:32One of these teams will not make the playoff, whoever loses this
- 1:35:35game. So there's tally.
- 1:35:36We're together, Miranda with us. We got a split house here on
- 1:35:42this game. All righty Miranda is going out
- 1:35:46to Lubbock where again we got another home dog.
- 1:35:49Texas Tech land 3 1/2 to Colorado.
- 1:35:52Colorado a sneaky 6 and two right now.
- 1:35:55Texas Tech coming off the big upset over Iowa State last week.
- 1:36:00Brian Siegler, How do you see this from playing out?
- 1:36:04I mean, you got to give Dion some credit.
- 1:36:06He's accomplished probably what the goal of this team was eight
- 1:36:09games into the year, sitting there at 6:00 and 2:00.
- 1:36:13So I'm I'm riding with the the Buffaloes here.
- 1:36:18Yep, I I'm right with you on that.
- 1:36:20I think Texas Tech it's again to get up again.
- 1:36:24I don't think they'll do it even at home.
- 1:36:27I I just don't I just don't see this happening.
- 1:36:30Give me Colorado. I like 3 1/2.
- 1:36:33Man, that color offense is above star right now.
- 1:36:35I don't think they're going to stop anytime soon.
- 1:36:37I think they're going to going to go to 7:00 and 2:00.
- 1:36:41Yeah, give me Colorado as well. I've not watched one play from
- 1:36:46Texas Tech is mainly the only reason that I say it Colorado.
- 1:36:50But I do think Colorado wins. And we are rolling as a.
- 1:36:56Oh man, well, we didn't put the voodoo curse right there.
- 1:36:58Colorado going to lose about 20 points now because we all rode
- 1:37:02together on this one. All righty.
- 1:37:05Last but not least, as always, let's end with the song Our
- 1:37:09Music Man with Michigan, Indiana.
- 1:37:23When I was born in a small town and I lived in a small town, I'd
- 1:37:32probably die. A small town, small home,
- 1:37:37community at home afraid. This is a small town where
- 1:37:45parents live in the same small town, my God's.
- 1:37:51A small town without a little lava to the thinking hope.
- 1:38:12Hey folks, it's Jamie. Hat to a little John Mellencamp.
- 1:38:15He's one of Indiana's favorite sons.
- 1:38:17And that's where I'm headed for this week's edition of Guitar
- 1:38:19Licks and Gambling Picks. Michigan travels to Indiana on
- 1:38:23Saturday and the Hoosiers have been flat out rolling this year.
- 1:38:27They are 9 and O, and they're eight and one against the
- 1:38:29spread. So I'm going to take Indiana -12
- 1:38:331/2 points this Saturday against Michigan.
- 1:38:40Though I cannot feel for where these I come.
- 1:38:44From my head. Forgive the people who really
- 1:38:47love me when I keep myself here in a small town and people
- 1:38:51letting me Jesus will want to be in.
- 1:38:59Yeah. I can't believe I'm saying it,
- 1:39:14being a Sycamore and all. But go Hoosiers. -12 1/2 versus
- 1:39:19Michigan. See you next week.
- 1:39:23All righty, there we go, Jason taking Indiana there.
- 1:39:27John Mellencamp. I'm surprised he did not do Jack
- 1:39:29and Diane so he could, say, sucking on chili dogs outside.
- 1:39:32Tasty bees. We don't need all that sucking
- 1:39:35on chili dogs, homie. Hey, if they hey, if they keep
- 1:39:38winning, he going probably put the Ohio State game on there and
- 1:39:41he might do another Mellencamp song.
- 1:39:42Let's move on. He's taking Indiana.
- 1:39:45He is laying a boat. Ton of points.
- 1:39:47What are you doing, Brian? And that's the problem with this
- 1:39:49one, man 12 1/2 is just a little too rich for my blood.
- 1:39:52I think Michigan keeps it close and Hoosiers win, but it's
- 1:39:58tight. Yep, I, I I'm with you on that.
- 1:40:01I think Michigan's going to get up for this 112 1/2 too much and
- 1:40:04we caught the line early at things up.
- 1:40:05I think it's 14 now. I'm going to check out on the on
- 1:40:10the book real quick, but I. Think it needs to.
- 1:40:12It needs to be at least like 9 1/2.
- 1:40:13Before I would have been. Man, I'm telling you, Sheldon
- 1:40:17Moth. Yeah, India is definitely going
- 1:40:20to win, but Michigan will do just enough to cover.
- 1:40:23I think they've got they've got enough talent to keep a little
- 1:40:25bit close even though they're having a big down year
- 1:40:26obviously. Huge down your tally.
- 1:40:30Yamaga, Michigan. Mine is too big.
- 1:40:34Too big, too big, man. Everybody's against the music
- 1:40:37man this week. Everybody gets.
- 1:40:38And by the way, that line did hit the 14.
- 1:40:42Wow man. All right, so that a.
- 1:40:46Lot of money's coming in on them because they are on a hot streak
- 1:40:48so. I they are and they're blowing
- 1:40:50and they're blowing teams out. They're putting teams to bed, by
- 1:40:54the way. It's, it's the, the narrative in
- 1:40:56the last few years, too, has also flipped.
- 1:40:58You can hire an old coach. You can hire somebody in their
- 1:41:0260s and you can do shit. Signeti's 62 years old.
- 1:41:08So I I I am huh? He's got the juice.
- 1:41:13He got the juice all right. Anything else y'all want to add
- 1:41:16before we get a wrap on this thing tonight?
