- 0:13SPEAKER_00: Hey my friend, thanks for joining me for today's episode of the Daily Writer Podcast.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: Today's episode is part of a series that we're doing called The Writer's Path: Seven Steps to Building a Writing Business.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: And yesterday I gave you an overview of what the Writer's Path is all about.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: And if you haven't heard that episode yet, I would encourage you to go back and check it out.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: It's just two or three minutes long.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: Today I want to explore the question: why does the writer's path matter?
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: What's the point of it anyway?
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: And why am I doing this series?
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: Well, to summarize, here is what I have observed.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: A lot of writers are frustrated because they're working really hard, but they're not seeing tangible results.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: You can be the most hardworking, talented writer in the world, but if you don't have the proper systems and framework in place to help your business grow, you won't see a lot of success over the long haul.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: As I look at successful writers I know, the writer's path is the pathway or the framework that the vast majority of these people follow.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: Now it's not like I put this out there and they go, oh, Kent Sanders put this framework out there, I've got to follow it.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: It's not that at all.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: In fact, it's just the opposite.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: I have basically distilled what I have observed in other successful writers, and I have just identified seven things that all of these people have in common.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: Now, they may all do it in different ways and in different styles and what have you, but basically anybody who has a successful writing business, they have these seven components in place most of the time in one way or another.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: Now, this includes very successful writers such as Joanna Penn, Dan Miller, Michael Hyatt, Donald Miller, Ryan Holliday, Jeff Goines, Honore Corter, and many, many other writers that I respect and follow.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: The seven steps of the writer's path is also the framework that gives you the best chance at success because your income is diversified.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: It's not based on just writing books or just one other singular thing.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: It's diversified.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: And this grows your business in an organic way that doesn't rely on gimmicks or working 100 hours a week for years and burning yourself out and having a heart attack and dying at age 51 or something like that.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: The writer's path also gives you a clear sequential process to follow.
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: And I think this might be the most important benefit of all because it's so easy to get paralyzed by all the things that you could be doing as a writer instead of doing the straightforward, basic things that you must be doing to build a writing-based business.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: So tomorrow we're going to continue our dive into the concept of the writer's path.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: So make sure and stay tuned.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: Here's today's question: Do you get frustrated as a writer because it feels like that you should be doing a hundred different things at once?
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: And instead, what would it feel like to have a simple, organized pathway to follow to help you build a writing business?
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: Thanks so much for listening to today's episode.
