- 0:23chickens. Hey everybody.
- 0:29Good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30Ooh, so I want to talk to you about blessings because we often
- 0:36will sit there and say, count your blessings.
- 0:38But the question is, what do you define as a blessing?
- 0:41And many of us don't have Clarity on how we Define
- 0:45blessings. Therefore, we get stuck, and we
- 0:47don't actually count things as a blessing because maybe we make
- 0:50it too. Big of a deal.
- 0:51We start thinking about it and we think, oh, this has to be a
- 0:53big thing to do in order to be a blessing and I don't think that
- 0:57things have to be huge to be a blessing.
- 1:00I think you. Find small things that you can
- 1:02say. It's a blessing, you know, I
- 1:06purposefully look for small blessings every day.
- 1:10Those little tiny things that people typically go unnoticed,
- 1:15something that goes easier, something that's like, oh, it's
- 1:18a sharp pencil. You pick it up and, oh, I'm
- 1:20grateful for this. And I will incorporate that into
- 1:24a very strong gratitude practice that I have, which is constant
- 1:27and never-ending of finding little things all day long that
- 1:29I can be grateful. For and purposefully put them
- 1:34into the category of gratitude and blessings.
- 1:38So this is a practice that is often overlooked will say, we
- 1:43have a gratitude, practice will say we have a practice of prayer
- 1:46and blessing, but we only look for those big things and we all
- 1:50have the big things that we talked about that, you know, we
- 1:53feel blessed in something, but it's hard.
- 1:55When something tragic happens or it's hard to find the small
- 1:59things sometimes. As you have big things that
- 2:01happen to you and they're tragic and you have to reframe them.
- 2:05Sometimes you can't, you can't get around it.
- 2:08You have to look at it and reframe it.
- 2:11Few years ago, we had an incident where a dog that we had
- 2:17and we had him since he was a puppy.
- 2:22Just absolutely lost his mind and he attacked me in the
- 2:27kitchen. I bent down to wipe up some
- 2:30drool off the floor, and he grabbed my head.
- 2:33And this dog was weighed more than I did and he would have
- 2:39killed me. He missed my eye by a quarter of
- 2:41an inch and my temple by a half an inch.
- 2:44And if it wasn't for my, then little son, who saved my life.
- 2:48I wouldn't be here. He Jumped over the kitchen table
- 2:52and pounded the dog off of me without any thought of him, his
- 2:57own safety. So why am I telling you this?
- 3:00Because this is one of those big things that was quote-unquote
- 3:03tragic and it was a tragedy because obviously the dog had
- 3:07something wrong with him and he was a loved member of our family
- 3:11and we couldn't keep him. We had to make the difficult
- 3:15choice of putting him down because there was no way he
- 3:18could be safe with anybody else. And it was extremely emotional
- 3:23situation and the reason I'm telling you this story, it's
- 3:28very purposeful because I'm so focused on gratitude throughout
- 3:32the day and blessings throughout the day that when that accident
- 3:35happened, when that incident happened, the only thing I could
- 3:39think of was thank God. It was me and it wasn't my son.
- 3:42Thank God. It was me and it wasn't one of
- 3:43his friends. Thank, thank you.
- 3:45God, for the fact that this was not a stranger, thank you for
- 3:48the fact that it wasn't. Anybody who wouldn't be able to
- 3:52emotionally recover from this quickly and I, while I was in
- 3:58shock while it was awful and I had Staples through all my scalp
- 4:01and what not? It was something that I was able
- 4:05to maintain. And we took that as a blessing,
- 4:09that it was me, rather than just focused on the tragedy, was it
- 4:13tragic? Yes, but remember I've said
- 4:15before two things can be true at the same time and this was one
- 4:18of those things. That two things could be True.
- 4:20At the same time and the lessons learned from that have been epic
- 4:28so you can have a tragic thing. But you just have to reframe
- 4:32your point of view. You have to reframe your
- 4:34perspective, you have to ask yourself.
- 4:37What can I take away from this? What can I move through with
- 4:42this? How can I look at this in a
- 4:45better way and when you do, it's going to give you a huge gift
- 4:50now The small ones every day are what led me to be able to do
- 4:53that. I'm convinced of that.
- 4:55So if you, if you want to be able to have those moments when
- 4:58those show up, those tragic things show up because they
- 5:02always do, that's called life. That's called being a human.
- 5:05Then you have to build the muscle every day with the small
- 5:08things of gratitude. Finding Small Things, geez.
- 5:11Okay, great. It's raining outside and left my
- 5:14car windows open do no tragic but guess what, it really wasn't
- 5:17that wet inside. Yes, it's a blessing.
- 5:18I'm grateful, you know like you find all the little tiny ones
- 5:22and you let them stack up. So that you feel brilliant and
- 5:25wonderful and bright and side and not daunted by these things.
- 5:30So hopefully this is helpful and I will see you guys tomorrow.
- 5:35And you know what, I'm going to say because this is the tagline.
- 5:40I choose to go with, at the end of it.
- 5:42I hope you have a very blessed day and you find all your
- 5:45blessings in moment-to-moment. I'll see you all tomorrow.
- 5:48Bye.
