Speaker: If you have ever searched for your clinic on Google and thought, why is it that other businesses are showing up ahead of me in the map section, you're not alone.
• 0:38
Speaker: A lot of clinics assume rankings are random, or that whoever has the most reviews win.
• 0:46
Speaker: But Google Maps rankings are actually based on a very specific set of factors that we're gonna go over today.
• 0:55
Speaker: And once you understand how Google is making these decisions, then you can start to influence them.
• 1:04
Speaker: Hi, I'm Darcy Sullivan with Marketing and Design, and you're listening to the Clinic Marketing podcast.
• 1:11
Speaker: Today we are talking all about Google Map.
• 1:14
Speaker: Maps your Google Maps listing is controlled by your Google Business profile listing, which used to be called your Google My Business listing.
• 1:24
Speaker: Now, we talk a lot about Google Maps on this podcast, and I've got a lot of bite-sized topics pertaining to Google Maps coming up in the future.
• 1:35
Speaker: But today we are really going to dive into what.
• 1:41
Speaker: Factors come into play for how Google decides who is going to rank in the top spots for Google Maps.
• 1:50
Speaker: Google has publicly shared that Maps rankings are based on three main things.
• 1:57
Speaker: One, relevance, which is how well your clinic or business matches what someone is searching for.
• 2:05
Speaker: This includes your category, the services you have listed, the keywords on your website and content across.
• 2:16
Speaker: Your website and also the keywords and descriptions that you're using in your Google business profile listing.
• 2:25
Speaker: If someone searches chiropractor for back pain, Google is looking for businesses that clearly talk about that.
• 2:33
Speaker: If your profile and your website are vague, you're likely to not rank the top of that search.
• 2:42
Speaker: The second factor is distance.
• 2:44
Speaker: How close your clinic is to the searcher.
• 2:49
Speaker: This is absolutely out of your control.
• 2:51
Speaker: You cannot control where someone is searching from, but you can help Google understand exactly where you are located and what areas you serve.
• 3:05
Speaker: This includes a properly set address.
• 3:09
Speaker: Service areas if that applies, and location specific pages on your website.
• 3:16
Speaker: The third is prominence, and this is where things get more interesting.
• 3:21
Speaker: Prominence is essentially your reputation and authority online.
• 3:27
Speaker: This includes things like reviews, but not just reviews.
• 3:31
Speaker: It's the quality and the quantity and the key words that are used in those reviews.
• 3:37
Speaker: Links to your website, mentions of your business across the web and your overall brand presence.
• 3:44
Speaker: This is often the biggest differentiator between clinics that show up and those that don't.
• 3:52
Speaker: Now, there's also what Google doesn't tell you, but what really does matter, and this is where most clinics miss the mark.
• 4:02
Speaker: Even though Google list, those three core factors that we just went over, there are deeper layers underneath them.
• 4:12
Speaker: Your website plays a huge role in your Google Maps listing, and I feel like I have to restate that'cause some people just miss that.
• 4:24
Speaker: But your website really does play a huge role in how you show up in Google Map.
• 4:31
Speaker: Apps, your Google business profile does not operate in isolation.
• 4:37
Speaker: Google is consistently cross-referencing your website to validate what services you offer, what conditions you treat, where you're located.
• 4:49
Speaker: And if your website content is thin, outdated, unclear, it weakens your ability.
• 4:59
Speaker: To rank in that maps section, consistency really does build trust.
• 5:06
Speaker: Google wants confidence in your business information.
• 5:10
Speaker: This means your nap, your name, your address, and your phone number should match everywhere online.
• 5:16
Speaker: Your services should be described consistently on your website, in your messaging, and in your Google business profile.
• 5:26
Speaker: Your messaging should align throughout all platforms.
• 5:31
Speaker: Inconsistencies create doubt and doubt lowers your rankings.
• 5:37
Speaker: Google is paying attention also to how people interact with your listing.
• 5:42
Speaker: These are engagement signals and they matter.
• 5:46
Speaker: These include clicks from your Google business profile listing to your website calls.
• 5:54
Speaker: Direction, request and time spent engaging with your Google Business profile.
• 6:02
Speaker: If people consistently choose your listing and interact with it, that sends a very strong signal to Google that your business is relevant and valuable.
• 6:16
Speaker: Now one of the biggest shifts happening right now is the world of ai and AI is changing maps rankings.
• 6:27
Speaker: We talked about this in a previous episode when we went into detail about how the q and a is no longer.
• 6:35
Speaker: Available on the Google Business profile.
• 6:38
Speaker: Instead, they're shifting to an AI search, which then AI is pulling information from your Google Business profile listing and from your website.
• 6:47
Speaker: And so with that said, it means that Google is getting better at understanding context, intent, and specific questions instead of just matching for keywords.
• 7:02
  Speaker: Google is trying to.
• 7:04
Speaker: Recommend the best option that they feel matches what the searcher is looking for.
• 7:10
Speaker: So what does this mean for your clinic?
• 7:13
Speaker: Well, it means that you need to be specific about what you do, answer real questions patients are asking, and you can do that on your website.
• 7:24
Speaker: Use clear natural language across your website and your profile and your content is no longer just for SEO.
• 7:32
Speaker: It's also training Google's ai.
• 7:35
Speaker: On when to recommend you.
• 7:39
Speaker: Now, there's ways to do this without just dropping in an FAQ page on your website, which is valuable, don't get me wrong.
• 7:50
Speaker: But you can also, when you have.
• 7:53
Speaker: A website that's structured properly on your specific services pages and on your specific conditions pages, you are asking the questions and answering them in a very natural way.
• 8:07
Speaker: That doesn't have to be labeled as FAQ.
• 8:10
Speaker: For example, if you're a chiropractor on your chiropractic adjustment page, you probably have a section titled.
• 8:19
Speaker: What con conditions we treat with chiropractic care, what conditions can be treated with chiropractic care?
• 8:26
Speaker: What brings people in to see us for chiropractic care?
• 8:29
Speaker: So there's ways of doing this without just dropping everything into an FAQ section.
• 8:36
Speaker: It's just that it needs to be done in a way that's structured properly so that people can easily.
• 8:44
Speaker: Graze through your website and find what they're looking for and that AI and Google can find it as well, because this goes beyond your Google Map searches.
• 8:54
Speaker: It also goes for those using other AI solutions to search for a business like yours.
• 9:01
Speaker: And we wanna guarantee that your business is the one showing up.
• 9:05
Speaker: So what can you do to improve your rankings?
• 9:10
Speaker: Well, here are some practical steps you can take.
• 9:13
Speaker: One, before we even get into these, please, please, please make sure that your Google business profile.
• 9:20
Speaker: Listing is active and that it's been validated and you are good to go, that you can go in and make edits.
• 9:29
Speaker: That said, make sure that you select the right primary category along with any secondary categories.
• 9:36
Speaker: And then jump into your services section and make sure that you're actually living sting out services.
• 9:44
Speaker: And don't make them generic.
• 9:46
Speaker: Make sure that they actually include the treatments that you offer long with descriptions going into detail about those services.
• 9:58
Speaker: Next is to guide your reviews, and we talked about this before on another episode.
• 10:03
Speaker: Instead of saying, please leave us a review, you can ask them something like, what brought you in today and how was your experience?
• 10:11
Speaker: That's more likely to guide somebody into leaving your review.
• 10:14
Speaker: That's heavier when it comes to keywords because they're describing.
• 10:19
Speaker: Their problem and the solution or the results that they got from coming in to see you.
• 10:24
Speaker: This helps Google connect your business to those specific searches.
• 10:29
Speaker: And next up, strengthen your website.
• 10:32
Speaker: Make sure that your site clearly supports your Google Business profile listing by including.
• 10:39
Speaker: Services, pages and conditions pages, along with location signals and embedding your Google Map, making sure your address is very captain obvious on your website.

• 11:15
Speaker: Get stuck if, uh, their rankings are not improving.
• 11:19
Speaker: It's usually because their content's too broad.
• 11:22
Speaker: They just turn to AI to come up with content.
• 11:25
Speaker: It's not really suited to their specific offering.
• 11:30
Speaker: Their website doesn't support their Google business profile.
• 11:33
Speaker: They're not building enough authority or they're just not giving Google enough data to work with.
