- 0:00Speaker 1: Hello, everybody. Welcome to our Radio Archive Hour for this weekend.
- 0:03Speaker 1: It's a Saturday.
- 0:04Speaker 2: And we have for you Ted Bell from Ted's at
- 0:06Speaker 2: Beverly Hills Steakhouse. This is a really great year 20...
- 0:09Speaker 2: I was going to say 2020.
- 0:11Speaker 1: It's not.
- 0:12Speaker 2: It's 2000. The year 2000, which I guess we could call.
- 0:15Speaker 1: You could call it 20-200.
- 0:17Speaker 3: 20-100.
- 0:18Speaker 1: That sounds really dumb.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Anyway, from the year 20... I mean, from the year 2000, January,
- 0:24Speaker 2: as a matter of fact, it's Ted Bell.
- 0:26Speaker 1: who is on his way to the Golden Globes. He's
- 0:28Speaker 1: got tickets. He's on his way.
- 0:29Speaker 2: He's a steakhouse owner there in Beverly Hills.
- 0:31Speaker 1: He's a big man. And guess what? He got pulled
- 0:34Speaker 1: over by the cops, and it pissed him off. So
- 0:38Speaker 1: the Golden Globes were held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel
- 0:42Speaker 1: last night. Actually, they were held yesterday afternoon. They were
- 0:46Speaker 1: taped delayed for last night. I know that we had
- 0:48Speaker 1: at least a couple of people. Did you go? You
- 0:50Speaker 1: didn't go. But were there a couple of people around
- 0:52Speaker 1: here because we do our show from Los Angeles, so
- 0:56Speaker 1: there's some people who have access to tickets. Ted Bell
- 0:59Speaker 1: is with the Beverly Hills Automobile Association and owns Ted's
- 1:02Speaker 1: Beverly Hills Steakhouse, which is a fairly prominent steakhouse, Ted.
- 1:05Speaker 1: And I don't know, where do you get your invitation
- 1:06Speaker 1: to Golden Globes? Do the stars who come into your
- 1:09Speaker 1: restaurant just give you the ticket?
- 1:12Speaker 3: No, no, no, Phil. I get invited by people that
- 1:15Speaker 3: I know, but I don't get my tickets dropped off
- 1:17Speaker 3: to me there at the restaurant. But we've got some...
- 1:19Speaker 3: We have some very generous friends, and we do have
- 1:23Speaker 3: some friends in the business. And a lot of people
- 1:26Speaker 3: do come into our restaurant, I should say. And so
- 1:32Speaker 3: we have some connections there. Of course, I'm not just
- 1:37Speaker 3: involved in Phil running a restaurant. We have done some
- 1:41Speaker 3: financing and some executive producing on some independent films. So
- 1:44Speaker 3: we know a few people in town. My experience, though,
- 1:50Speaker 3: I have to ask this question, and it's a serious
- 1:54Speaker 3: question because my experience last night was marred a little bit.
- 1:59Speaker 3: What I'd like to know is when are the police
- 2:05Speaker 3: going to show respect to the Golden Globes, to this
- 2:09Speaker 3: awards ceremony? The disrespect to the Beverly Hills police shown
- 2:14Speaker 3: to this awards ceremony was unbelievable last night. And I'd
- 2:19Speaker 3: like to know when they're going to start to show
- 2:20Speaker 3: a little bit of respect for an awards ceremony that
- 2:23Speaker 3: is held in their city.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Ted.
- 2:26Speaker 3: Wait a minute. For an awards ceremony that is held
- 2:28Speaker 3: in their city at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, this is
- 2:33Speaker 3: my opinion, but I do not believe last night there
- 2:37Speaker 3: was a lot of respect shown. I was on my
- 2:40Speaker 3: way over to the Golden Globes. Yes, we did have tickets.
- 2:45Speaker 3: And we were running late. This was actually yesterday afternoon
- 2:48Speaker 3: when we finally were talking about last evening when I
- 2:50Speaker 3: finally worked this stuff out with the Beverly Hills Police Department.
- 2:54Speaker 1: What happened to you? Did you have a run-in with
- 2:56Speaker 1: the cops? If you worked out something with the police department?
- 2:59Speaker 3: Well, we were on our way over to the Golden
- 3:00Speaker 3: Globes yesterday afternoon. We had a late seating. My wife
- 3:06Speaker 3: was given some last-minute instructions to the babysitter. We also
- 3:09Speaker 3: had a fire to put out at work, so there
- 3:12Speaker 3: was a lot of different irons in the fire that
- 3:13Speaker 3: we had at that particular time. I finally got out
- 3:15Speaker 3: of there, and we had a problem on Sunset. Right
- 3:21Speaker 3: at Coldwater and Sunset, I ran into the back of
- 3:23Speaker 3: a parked car. I had to blow a red light
- 3:26Speaker 3: at Westwood. I blew a red light at Coldwater, and
- 3:29Speaker 3: I blew a red light at Sunset. I blew another
- 3:32Speaker 3: red light at Santa Monica. So we get there, and
- 3:36Speaker 3: I tell you, it was the most difficult time in
- 3:38Speaker 3: the world trying to get parking. We got the car
- 3:41Speaker 3: there to the valet, got out of the car, and
- 3:43Speaker 3: got inside of there. I've got three members of Beverly
- 3:46Speaker 3: Hills Police Department who are accosting me there just outside
- 3:50Speaker 3: of where the valet is.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Okay, you have to slow down. You blew a red light.
- 3:56Speaker 1: How many red lights did you... You blew three red
- 3:58Speaker 1: lights on the way over there.
- 3:59Speaker 3: Look, the point of all of this is we're talking
- 4:03Speaker 3: about the Golden Globe Awards of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
- 4:07Speaker 3: This is, you said it very well, Phil, a precursor
- 4:10Speaker 3: to the Academy Awards. It is the most prestigious award
- 4:14Speaker 3: ceremony in Hollywood, second only to the Academy Awards. It
- 4:18Speaker 3: is a moment... During the year, where we can really
- 4:23Speaker 3: honor some of the great artists, not only in television,
- 4:25Speaker 3: but in film. Not only in film, I should say,
- 4:26Speaker 3: but in television as well. So there's a lot of
- 4:28Speaker 3: things that are going on. I'm, you know, trying to...
- 4:31Speaker 3: And I've been to the last five Golden Globe Awards.
- 4:34Speaker 3: I'm trying to make this thing on time because I
- 4:37Speaker 3: was there with... There's two other guys who are producing
- 4:39Speaker 3: there that I wanted to meet with and talk with.
- 4:43Speaker 3: I get there. I've got the Beverly Hills police who
- 4:46Speaker 3: want to talk to me. I said to them... that
- 4:50Speaker 3: I'm going into the Golden Globes. I told him that
- 4:53Speaker 3: I was Ted Bell. He still insists on seeing my
- 4:56Speaker 3: driver's license. So what I'm saying to you is this.
- 5:00Speaker 3: There needs to be some kind of a respect and
- 5:03Speaker 3: an understanding as to what the Golden Globe Awards mean.
- 5:07Speaker 3: I think that even extends to the Beverly Hills Police Department,
- 5:10Speaker 3: in my opinion.
- 5:12Speaker 4: I think.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Well, wait. Wait a second. I'm having a hard time
- 5:16Speaker 1: following you. Did you say that you hit someone's car
- 5:19Speaker 1: and you blew three red lights?
- 5:23Speaker 3: Well, I don't know what it is that you're focusing on.
- 5:24Speaker 3: I'm focusing on the fact that I was going into
- 5:26Speaker 3: the Golden Globe Awards. It was put on by the
- 5:28Speaker 3: Hollywood Foreign Press Association. One of the most prestigious award ceremonies.
- 5:32Speaker 3: I had tickets. My wife and I were invited. Okay,
- 5:36Speaker 3: do you understand that?
- 5:37Speaker 1: Yes, I understand that.
- 5:38Speaker 3: You get me so far. My wife and I were invited.
- 5:40Speaker 3: We're on our way in. I've got the Beverly Hills
- 5:43Speaker 3: Police Department. Wanting driver's licenses, wanting information, asking me questions.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Wait, you ran into the back of a car, you
- 5:53Speaker 1: blew three red lights, you got the Beverly Hills Police Department.
- 5:56Speaker 3: That is correct, but the point being, you got the
- 5:59Speaker 3: Golden Globes. What are you telling me?
- 6:03Speaker 1: I'm saying that you have a police situation there.
- 6:06Speaker 3: I'm telling you I got the Golden Globes to get into, okay?
- 6:09Speaker 3: I got an invitation, we're running late, we've got a seating,
- 6:11Speaker 3: got to get to it. I told the officer if
- 6:14Speaker 3: he was that concerned about the car that I hit,
- 6:17Speaker 3: he could have run my plates.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Were you running from the police?
- 6:23Speaker 3: There were police behind me. I knew that they were
- 6:26Speaker 3: behind me. I told the officers when I got out
- 6:29Speaker 3: of the car and I valeted the car, I told
- 6:30Speaker 3: the officers then that I needed for them to run
- 6:34Speaker 3: my plates. They could mail me the tickets. Well, Phil,
- 6:39Speaker 3: what is it you're not understanding? What I'm trying to
- 6:41Speaker 3: tell you is the Beverly Hills Police Department, in my opinion,
- 6:44Speaker 3: doesn't have a respect for the Golden Globes Awards of
- 6:47Speaker 3: the Hollywood Foreign Press Association that is, I think, almost
- 6:50Speaker 3: demanded of a police agency that is the primary police
- 6:54Speaker 3: agency in a city that is the agents for these things.
- 6:58Speaker 3: You've got to understand. That when you're driving, Ted.
- 7:01Speaker 1: You ran into a parked car, you blew three red lights.
- 7:05Speaker 1: What am I not getting here? What are you upset about?
- 7:08Speaker 1: What is it that I don't understand?
- 7:09Speaker 3: What you're not getting is it's the Golden Globe Awards
- 7:13Speaker 3: put on by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Why do you keep bringing that up? You hit a car.
- 7:20Speaker 3: I told the police officer. You can run my plates,
- 7:25Speaker 3: you can get my driving information, and you can then
- 7:30Speaker 3: mail me the ticket. The car that I hit was
- 7:33Speaker 3: a Ford or something. It wasn't the car that I hit, Bill.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Yeah, let me find out why you didn't stop for
- 7:38Speaker 1: the car.
- 7:39Speaker 3: Why I didn't stop for the car that I hit?
- 7:41Speaker 1: Yes, why you didn't get out.
- 7:43Speaker 3: The car that I hit was, my understanding, my wife
- 7:45Speaker 3: told me as we were going by, she looked out,
- 7:48Speaker 3: she said it's a Ford something or other. All right,
- 7:51Speaker 3: so I didn't bother. And the fact is I was planning,
- 7:55Speaker 3: and the police officers who were following me, I knew
- 7:57Speaker 3: could get that information anyway. All right, so.
- 8:01Speaker 1: Ted, I don't get what you're telling me.
- 8:03Speaker 3: Well, what you need to understand, Phil, and I can
- 8:06Speaker 3: understand that you don't quite get this, the Golden Globe
- 8:09Speaker 3: Awards are put on by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
- 8:12Speaker 3: I have been invited to this five years running. Okay?
- 8:16Speaker 3: I need for the Beverly Hills Police Department to have
- 8:20Speaker 3: some respect for that, some understanding of that, and to
- 8:24Speaker 3: give me that latitude that I require in going into
- 8:29Speaker 3: this award ceremony.
- 8:31Speaker 1: The latitude being that you hit a parked car, blow
- 8:35Speaker 1: three red lights, and what? The latitude is, understand I'm
- 8:40Speaker 1: driving a BMW 900 Series. I was in evening where
- 8:43Speaker 1: they should have known where I was going. That's number one.
- 8:48Speaker 1: Number two, run my plates. You can get all the
- 8:51Speaker 1: information you need. Number three, mail me the ticket. And
- 8:54Speaker 1: number four, whatever the problem is with the car that
- 8:57Speaker 1: I hit, we can take care of that later. Phil,
- 8:59Speaker 1: I've got to tell you something.
- 9:01Speaker 3: I had a potentially wonderful afternoon ruined by the Beverly
- 9:05Speaker 3: Hills Police Department.
- 9:06Speaker 1: Well, if you think that they ruined it because they
- 9:09Speaker 1: pulled you over, I'm saying that you might have ruined
- 9:11Speaker 1: it yourself by hitting a parked car and blowing three
- 9:14Speaker 1: red lights. But you're saying.
- 9:16Speaker 3: I'm telling you that they could have gotten the information
- 9:18Speaker 3: they needed from my license plate, and they certainly could
- 9:22Speaker 3: have mailed me a ticket or otherwise dealt with it
- 9:26Speaker 3: at some other time than the Golden Globe Awards.
- 9:30Speaker 1: And so instead of talking about the Golden Globe Awards,
- 9:33Speaker 1: we're going to talk about your problem with the Beverly
- 9:34Speaker 1: Hills Police.
- 9:35Speaker 3: Well, the problem is this. They created the problem. That's
- 9:38Speaker 3: the problem.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Ted Bell is with us from the Ted's at Beverly
- 9:42Speaker 1: Hills Steakhouse, the Beverly Hills Automobile Association. He claims he
- 9:47Speaker 1: got sighted, pulled over, otherwise accosted by police last night
- 9:51Speaker 1: on his way to the Golden Globes. He hit a
- 9:52Speaker 1: parked car and blew three red lights, one of them
- 9:54Speaker 1: at Coldwater, one of them at Sunset, one of them
- 9:57Speaker 1: at Santa Monica, on his way to the Golden Globe Awards. Okay,
- 9:50Speaker 1: it's the Phil Henry Show here.
- 9:50Speaker 3: 1-800-449-8686.
- 9:50Speaker 4: 1-800-449-8686.
- 9:51Speaker 1: No, don't let him hang up, okay? I still want
- 9:52Speaker 1: to talk to him.
- 9:52Speaker 5: 1-800-449-8686.
- 10:31Speaker 1: Phil Henry Show, 1-800-449-8686. I want to ask you a question, Ted.
- 10:37Speaker 1: You said that you were in evening wear. You were
- 10:38Speaker 1: on your way.
- 10:39Speaker 3: Yes, we were.
- 10:40Speaker 1: Well, what does that mean exactly when it comes to
- 10:42Speaker 1: the police?
- 10:43Speaker 3: What it means, Phil, is something very simple. We were in, obviously,
- 10:47Speaker 3: evening wear. I was in a tuxedo. My wife was
- 10:49Speaker 3: in an evening dress. I'm driving a 900 Series BMW,
- 10:53Speaker 3: which is... I don't mind telling you it's probably one
- 10:56Speaker 3: of the more high-end automobiles. So the Beverly Hills Police
- 10:59Speaker 3: Department know immediately what they're dealing with.
- 11:03Speaker 1: They're dealing with what, a rich guy?
- 11:04Speaker 3: They're dealing with someone who's obviously going to the Golden Globes.
- 11:07Speaker 3: I was heading down Coldwater, and that direction is on
- 11:10Speaker 3: my way over to Wilson, Santa Monica, where the Beverly
- 11:12Speaker 3: Hills Motel is. So they knew immediately who they're dealing with.
- 11:18Speaker 3: And to accost me, outside the valet, The officer approached
- 11:24Speaker 3: me and said, is there a problem, officer? He said,
- 11:27Speaker 3: you know, you've got a problem. It's some kind of
- 11:29Speaker 3: a smart-ass thing like that. I told him who I was.
- 11:31Speaker 3: I said, I'm Ted Bell. He didn't seem to care.
- 11:35Speaker 3: A lot of things that don't add up, that's all
- 11:37Speaker 3: I'm saying. And a lot of things that don't add
- 11:39Speaker 3: up on the night of the Golden Globes of the
- 11:43Speaker 3: Hollywood Foreign Press Association, one of the most prestigious award
- 11:46Speaker 3: shows in America, that stuff bothers me.
- 11:52Speaker 4: Well.
- 11:53Speaker 3: Well, Phil, I know you've never been to the Golden Globes.
- 11:55Speaker 1: No, I've never been to the Golden Globes. I know
- 11:59Speaker 1: the cops are not going to get argued off of
- 12:00Speaker 1: a ticket once they've got their mind made up. Cartersville
- 12:03Speaker 1: on the Phil Henry Show.
- 12:04Speaker 3: Hello.
- 12:05Speaker 6: I cannot believe this. His child's at home, taken care of.
- 12:11Speaker 3: We were running late. We were running late on that.
- 12:14Speaker 1: Do what?
- 12:15Speaker 3: We were running late.
- 12:16Speaker 6: It doesn't matter. I mean, you have your own wife
- 12:18Speaker 6: in the car, and you just keep going and not
- 12:21Speaker 6: caring even about her, that God knows who you would hit.
- 12:25Speaker 6: What are you talking about?
- 12:26Speaker 3: I'm on my way to the Golden Globes. I don't
- 12:29Speaker 3: care who you see in the President of the United States.
- 12:31Speaker 3: The Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
- 12:33Speaker 7: To risk other people's lives.
- 12:34Speaker 3: I wasn't risking anybody's life.
- 12:36Speaker 1: Well, you were blowing through red lights, right?
- 12:38Speaker 3: I blew three red lights. Four.
- 12:39Speaker 6: You said four.
- 12:41Speaker 3: No, I said three. I said three. I said three
- 12:44Speaker 3: red lights. I'll tell you exactly where they were, too.
- 12:46Speaker 3: I hit a parked car.
- 12:48Speaker 6: My thing is I cannot believe.
- 12:50Speaker 3: What can't you believe? Let me help you through it.
- 12:52Speaker 6: That you would go through red lights and risk somebody
- 12:55Speaker 6: else's life.
- 12:56Speaker 3: Including yourself and your wife. Let me explain. Okay? It's
- 13:01Speaker 3: the Golden Globe Awards of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
- 13:06Speaker 3: It's one of the most prestigious award shows in the world.
- 13:12Speaker 7: You were there to watch it.
- 13:13Speaker 3: This isn't like making a bingo night.
- 13:17Speaker 1: It doesn't matter.
- 13:17Speaker 3: I'm not trying to make bingo night in Cartersville or
- 13:19Speaker 3: whatever it is.
- 13:21Speaker 1: Okay, you don't have to knock where the lady's calling from.
- 13:23Speaker 1: We're trying to get some answers here as to why
- 13:24Speaker 1: you'd hit a parked car and keep going.
- 13:27Speaker 3: I could have gone back to that address at a
- 13:29Speaker 3: later time.
- 13:29Speaker 6: I can't believe you're out speaking and you're not even
- 13:31Speaker 6: in jail now. Anybody normal would be in jail.
- 13:33Speaker 1: Yeah, what did happen?
- 13:35Speaker 3: I'm sorry?
- 13:35Speaker 1: What did happen?
- 13:37Speaker 3: I've been asked by my attorney not to say.
- 13:40Speaker 1: Did you go to jail?
- 13:41Speaker 6: I cannot believe this.
- 13:42Speaker 3: What? What can't you believe?
- 13:44Speaker 6: You're honestly admitting to it. Your wife had to have
- 13:46Speaker 6: packed up and moved out. I cannot believe she okayed this.
- 13:49Speaker 3: What is it that my wife was put through that's
- 13:52Speaker 3: so horrible? I give her a great life. We have
- 13:56Speaker 3: a beautiful.
- 13:57Speaker 6: I'm making sure your child was safe and forgetting all
- 14:01Speaker 6: the other ones around.
- 14:02Speaker 3: What are you doing? Are you pressing buttons? No, I'm not. Well,
- 14:07Speaker 3: what was that? Hello? What is that, Phil?
- 14:10Speaker 1: Who's pushing the buttons?
- 14:11Speaker 3: It's not me.
- 14:13Speaker 6: You're pushing my buttons, sir.
- 14:14Speaker 7: No, ma'am.
- 14:15Speaker 6: I cannot believe you are on the radio admitting to
- 14:18Speaker 6: causing so many traffic violations.
- 14:23Speaker 1: What is going on?
- 14:24Speaker 3: I don't know. Somebody's pushing.
- 14:27Speaker 4: Hello?
- 14:28Speaker 3: Hello. I'm right here. I'm right here.
- 14:32Speaker 6: Yes.
- 14:33Speaker 3: Yes, hello?
- 14:34Speaker 6: I don't understand. This is not making any sense to me.
- 14:37Speaker 3: Well, then maybe you ought to listen more carefully.
- 14:39Speaker 7: I've listened to the whole program.
- 14:40Speaker 6: Love this show. I cannot believe that you would call
- 14:43Speaker 6: up and admit so many felonies and think that it's
- 14:47Speaker 6: perfectly okay.
- 14:48Speaker 3: I didn't say it was okay. I said that Beverly
- 14:50Speaker 3: Hills Police could have found a better time to have
- 14:54Speaker 3: given me a ticket. They should have arrested you, sir.
- 14:56Speaker 6: They should have arrested you.
- 14:58Speaker 3: You had no right to arrest me.
- 15:00Speaker 6: You don't accost a guy.
- 15:02Speaker 3: I'm not saying I don't deserve a ticket. What I
- 15:04Speaker 3: am saying is this. Don't come up to me and
- 15:06Speaker 3: give me a ticket as I'm going into the Golden Globes.
- 15:09Speaker 3: Wait until I come out.
- 15:11Speaker 6: They called harm by being behind that vehicle.
- 15:14Speaker 3: They showed no respect for the Golden Globes or the
- 15:16Speaker 3: Foreign Press Association. That's all I've asked you.
- 15:18Speaker 6: The Golden Globes, you cannot even put them in the
- 15:22Speaker 6: category with you. They had nothing to do with you
- 15:26Speaker 6: running like and causing all and no telling what happened.
- 15:29Speaker 3: You don't give a guy a ticket. Let me ask
- 15:31Speaker 3: you something, ma'am. If you're a Beverly Hills police officer, okay,
- 15:34Speaker 3: let's say that you are a Beverly Hills police officer,
- 15:35Speaker 3: Beverly Hills, California, okay? All right? Ma'am?
- 15:39Speaker 7: Yes, I'm listening to you.
- 15:40Speaker 3: Okay, let's say that you're a Beverly Hills police officer, okay?
- 15:44Speaker 4: Okay.
- 15:45Speaker 3: You see a man run through a red light and
- 15:49Speaker 3: smash into a parked car, but he's on his way
- 15:51Speaker 3: into the Golden Globe Awards. You should have been yanked
- 15:55Speaker 3: out of that car, grown up, and arrested right there immediately. Okay,
- 15:59Speaker 3: so I know you wouldn't qualify as a cop.
- 16:01Speaker 1: Why wouldn't she qualify as a cop?
- 16:03Speaker 3: Because she just did the wrong thing. Not when a
- 16:06Speaker 3: guy's going into the Golden Globe Awards.
- 16:08Speaker 6: You just risked other lives to get to somewhere.
- 16:10Speaker 3: What's that?
- 16:11Speaker 6: You risked other lives. Including your own, including your wife.
- 16:15Speaker 3: Big deal. I blew three red lights.
- 16:17Speaker 6: Your wife's a big deal. I hope she's listening to this.
- 16:19Speaker 3: You know, the Beverly Hills Police Department usually show a
- 16:23Speaker 3: little bit more intelligence and deference. But to give me,
- 16:27Speaker 3: first of all, my name's Ted Bell.
- 16:29Speaker 6: I cannot help it with Bill Clinton.
- 16:31Speaker 3: Okay.
- 16:31Speaker 7: You were doing wrong.
- 16:33Speaker 3: Well, you don't know who I am because you don't
- 16:35Speaker 3: live in the state. You don't give Ted Bell a
- 16:37Speaker 3: ticket as he's walking into the Golden Globe. I couldn't
- 16:40Speaker 3: believe the stupidity of these guys.
- 16:42Speaker 1: I cannot believe it. I just want to know when
- 16:45Speaker 1: do you think that they're going to.
- 16:46Speaker 3: Wait until I come out. My wife was mortified. You
- 16:49Speaker 3: think that my wife is leaving me? She was more
- 16:52Speaker 3: upset than me that they gave Ted Bell. Ted Bell. Okay?
- 16:59Speaker 3: I just pray.
- 17:00Speaker 6: And thank God that you did not hurt anybody badly.
- 17:03Speaker 6: I cannot believe they're letting you on the road.
- 17:05Speaker 3: I can't believe that you care that much about who
- 17:07Speaker 3: got hurt. You don't even know any of the people involved.
- 17:08Speaker 3: It doesn't matter. I care about society.
- 17:10Speaker 6: I care about life. And that's how you should have
- 17:12Speaker 6: been behind that wheel.
- 17:14Speaker 3: She's not society. She's my wife. All right.
- 17:17Speaker 1: Thank you very much for your call. Phil Henry Show, 1-800-449-8686.
- 17:37Speaker 1: Phil Henry Show, 1-800-449-8686. Man, we got that happening. 70s,
- 17:44Speaker 1: classic rock, crap bumper music working now. Maybe when we
- 17:47Speaker 1: get the premiere, we got a bigger library. We're going
- 17:50Speaker 1: to shift it all over to movie soundtrack stuff. This
- 17:52Speaker 1: is the next bright idea we got. Stuff from Psycho.
- 17:55Speaker 1: Crap from Alfred Hitchcock movies. Maybe that'll make me happy.
- 17:59Speaker 1: Maybe then I'll shut up, huh, Craig? What do you
- 18:01Speaker 1: got here, buddy?
- 18:02Speaker 3: Same thing.
- 18:02Speaker 1: Same thing, yeah. I love it. This is what we need.
- 18:06Speaker 1: Enough of that shit. Played out crap, you know? As
- 18:09Speaker 1: much as I like ZZ Top, they're played. 1-800-449-8686. Phil
- 18:16Speaker 1: Henry showed Ted Bell on the line from Beverly Hills
- 18:18Speaker 1: this evening. He was on his way to the Golden
- 18:19Speaker 1: Globes last night. And I have to say, Ted, you
- 18:23Speaker 1: blew through three red lights. You hit a parked car.
- 18:26Speaker 3: You keep going over it, don't you? You keep missing
- 18:30Speaker 3: the point, don't you?
- 18:31Speaker 1: No, the point being what?
- 18:32Speaker 3: The point is I was going to the Golden Globes
- 18:34Speaker 3: sponsored by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. This is a
- 18:38Speaker 3: major event. Phil, I can understand a lot of your callers' understanding.
- 18:42Speaker 3: I don't get you not getting it. I don't get
- 18:45Speaker 3: you not understanding what this represents. I'm Ted Bell. I
- 18:49Speaker 3: own Ted's in Beverly. We've been over this over and
- 18:53Speaker 3: over again. Now, the Beverly Hills Police Department ruined my
- 18:58Speaker 3: evening last night by accosting me outside the valet stand
- 19:03Speaker 3: of the Golden Globes in front of the Beverly Hills
- 19:04Speaker 3: Hotel when they could have run my plate, sent me
- 19:08Speaker 3: the ticket in the mail, I could have gone back
- 19:10Speaker 3: and taken care of this guy's car. But you don't
- 19:13Speaker 3: get it, do you?
- 19:15Speaker 1: I get it. I get that you broke the law.
- 19:17Speaker 3: No, no, you don't get it.
- 19:19Speaker 1: I get that you broke the law and that the
- 19:20Speaker 1: cops have got to do something about that. Yes, even
- 19:24Speaker 1: if you're going to the Golden Globes.
- 19:26Speaker 3: And even if I tell them I'm Ted Bell.
- 19:28Speaker 1: Even if you say you're Ted Bell.
- 19:31Speaker 3: You don't get it, Phil. You just don't get it.
- 19:34Speaker 3: And I think in a lot of ways you blow
- 19:35Speaker 3: it when you don't get it.
- 19:36Speaker 1: All right, I don't get it. I don't get it,
- 19:38Speaker 1: and I'm blowing it. Asheville on the Phil Henry Show.
- 19:41Speaker 3: Hello. Hello.
- 19:43Speaker 1: Yes, sir, you're on the air.
- 19:44Speaker 8: Hi, this is Ted Bell.
- 19:47Speaker 3: I'm Ted Bell, yes, sir. Okay, Ted. Yeah. Were these
- 19:50Speaker 3: laws actually wrote around your name? Oh, sir, don't be sarcastic, okay?
- 19:56Speaker 3: I'm not being sarcastic.
- 19:57Speaker 8: I'm just saying, I mean, if somebody wrote around.
- 20:00Speaker 3: My name, and they, you know, it was Bill Clinton.
- 20:04Speaker 8: Do you think that they should put it on hold
- 20:07Speaker 8: because it's Bill Clinton?
- 20:08Speaker 3: Bill Clinton's not going to hit my car. He may.
- 20:13Speaker 3: He's not going to hit my car. I don't park
- 20:17Speaker 3: it at the corner of Sunset and Colwood. It's a
- 20:18Speaker 3: busy intersection.
- 20:20Speaker 8: Well, some people have to.
- 20:22Speaker 3: And I'll tell you something else, my friend. They wouldn't
- 20:25Speaker 3: stop the President of the United States if he had. Well,
- 20:28Speaker 3: I'd say it would be taken care of right then.
- 20:30Speaker 3: So there's where you're wrong. They're not right around your name.
- 20:34Speaker 3: There's where you're wrong. See, they're not going to pull
- 20:36Speaker 3: him over and say, I'm sorry, Mr. President, you can't
- 20:39Speaker 3: go to this fundraiser. You can't go to talk to
- 20:41Speaker 3: these crippled kids or whatever it is that he has
- 20:43Speaker 3: because you hit a guy's car. They're going to do that.
- 20:45Speaker 3: That's the side of the point.
- 20:46Speaker 8: You're not Bill Clinton.
- 20:47Speaker 3: Well, first of all, they're going to have a— Yeah, well,
- 20:48Speaker 3: then why'd you bring him up?
- 20:49Speaker 1: First of all, they're going to stop the chauffeur driver.
- 20:52Speaker 1: I mean, the limousine driver.
- 20:53Speaker 3: Exactly, Bill. Thank you.
- 20:55Speaker 1: Well, the point is that the... All right, go ahead.
- 20:58Speaker 3: He broke the law.
- 21:00Speaker 8: If somebody were his car, he would expect the same thing.
- 21:03Speaker 3: I'm not saying I didn't break the law. It doesn't
- 21:04Speaker 3: matter where it was parked.
- 21:05Speaker 8: I'm not saying I didn't break the law.
- 21:07Speaker 3: I'm not saying that I didn't break the law. Okay.
- 21:09Speaker 3: I'm saying I told the officer.
- 21:10Speaker 8: They're supposed to put everything on hold for you to
- 21:13Speaker 8: go to this show.
- 21:14Speaker 3: It was the goal. I told the officer who I was.
- 21:17Speaker 3: I said, I'm Ted Velde. It doesn't matter who you are.
- 21:19Speaker 3: That's the point. I'm Ted Bell. It doesn't matter. The
- 21:21Speaker 3: law is a law.
- 21:22Speaker 8: They're not wrote for just certain people.
- 21:24Speaker 3: They're wrote for everyone. You like states?
- 21:26Speaker 8: This is why the laws are wrote, is because of
- 21:28Speaker 8: people like you.
- 21:30Speaker 3: People like me? Exactly. The laws are there to protect
- 21:32Speaker 3: all people. Exactly. I agree with you. Exactly. I agree
- 21:35Speaker 3: with you, sir. There's the point. The point is that
- 21:38Speaker 3: I'm Ted Bell. The point. What are you laughing about?
- 21:41Speaker 8: Because you're Ted Bell.
- 21:42Speaker 3: I'm Ted Bell, Detective Beverly Hills. Okay. It's a steakhouse.
- 21:47Speaker 3: Do you like steak? Uh, yeah.
- 21:48Speaker 1: What, are the cops supposed to recognize your name?
- 21:51Speaker 3: I said to this one junior officer, I'm Ted Bell.
- 21:55Speaker 3: He looks at me like he doesn't know who I am. Okay.
- 21:58Speaker 3: All right, so... I didn't know who you were. You
- 22:00Speaker 3: don't live in Beverly Hills, do you? No, I don't. Okay,
- 22:02Speaker 3: I didn't think so.
- 22:03Speaker 2: Nope.
- 22:05Speaker 3: All right, so when you move out here, you let
- 22:08Speaker 3: me know you're out here. I'll tell you what, I'll
- 22:09Speaker 3: buy you a steak. You can come over to my steakhouse.
- 22:14Speaker 3: I'm Ted Bell. This guy's got to know.
- 22:16Speaker 1: The cop's got to know. All right, even if the
- 22:18Speaker 1: cop knew who you were, what's he supposed to do?
- 22:20Speaker 1: Not give you a ticket? San Antonio on the Phil
- 22:23Speaker 1: Henry Show.
- 22:23Speaker 3: Hello?
- 22:24Speaker 8: Hi, how are you doing?
- 22:25Speaker 3: Good.
- 22:26Speaker 7: Mr. Bell, why don't you grow up?
- 22:29Speaker 8: This is ridiculous.
- 22:31Speaker 7: My goodness, your name is Ted Bell, and everybody's supposed
- 22:35Speaker 7: to bow and scrape to you because you're going to
- 22:36Speaker 7: some war ceremony?
- 22:37Speaker 3: No, I didn't say bow and scrape. No, I didn't
- 22:38Speaker 3: say bow and scrape. They've got to understand it's the
- 22:39Speaker 3: Golden Globe. Oh, big deal. If you've never heard of it, okay,
- 22:42Speaker 3: I get it.
- 22:45Speaker 7: Oh, I've heard of it, but it doesn't impress me.
- 22:49Speaker 3: You know what?
- 22:51Speaker 7: I really would commend the police for doing their job.
- 22:54Speaker 7: They were your paid servants out in Beverly Hills.
- 22:58Speaker 3: They were doing their job. Wait a second. No, wait, wait.
- 23:00Speaker 7: I'm going to the Google.
- 23:01Speaker 3: The Hollywood Foreign Press Association. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
- 23:07Speaker 7: So, like, that makes a difference to me? I could
- 23:10Speaker 7: care less.
- 23:11Speaker 3: Wait a minute. Are you telling me.
- 23:11Speaker 7: I don't care if you're Ted Bill or Mr.
- 23:14Speaker 3: Bundy.
- 23:15Speaker 7: I could care less.
- 23:16Speaker 3: It shows what you know.
- 23:17Speaker 7: You were being a you-know-what, breaking the law, and then
- 23:19Speaker 7: expecting the police to bond scrape to you because you
- 23:23Speaker 7: mentioned your name like, what is it, up in neon
- 23:25Speaker 7: lights or something?
- 23:26Speaker 3: Wait a second. I did not ask the police... I
- 23:28Speaker 3: did not ask the police to bond scrape. I told
- 23:31Speaker 3: the officer who I was, okay? That's number one. And
- 23:33Speaker 3: he should know.
- 23:34Speaker 4: Well, fine.
- 23:34Speaker 3: That's better. I'm going to give you a ticket. Number two...
- 23:38Speaker 3: Number two, they could have mailed me the ticket.
- 23:43Speaker 7: They could have mailed you the ticket.
- 23:44Speaker 3: Yes, ma'am.
- 23:45Speaker 7: How exciting.
- 23:46Speaker 3: I mean, you know, how exciting is that supposed to be?
- 23:49Speaker 7: It was one of your relatives that got hit by
- 23:52Speaker 7: this fancy big deal car.
- 23:54Speaker 3: Going down the street.
- 23:55Speaker 7: What does that got to do with anything? Would you
- 23:56Speaker 7: expect them to mail them the ticket, too?
- 23:58Speaker 3: What does that got to do with anything? Well, that's
- 24:01Speaker 3: your point.
- 24:01Speaker 7: You made the point over and over and over.
- 24:05Speaker 3: I'm Ted Bell.
- 24:05Speaker 7: So I was nauseous about going to the Golden Globe Awards.
- 24:09Speaker 3: That's right.
- 24:09Speaker 7: That's the point you wanted to make, that you were
- 24:11Speaker 7: so important that you got to go to the Golden
- 24:13Speaker 7: Globe Awards.
- 24:14Speaker 3: I'm saying that the Beverly Hills Police Department should know
- 24:17Speaker 3: when a man in a 900 Series BMW and a
- 24:19Speaker 3: tuxedo is on his.
- 24:21Speaker 7: Way to something, it's got to be the Golden Globes, okay?
- 24:25Speaker 3: Because I'm Ted Bell. That's who cares, all right?
- 24:29Speaker 7: Oh, I'm so happy you're so full of yourself, sir.
- 24:32Speaker 3: Full of myself, ma'am.
- 24:32Speaker 7: Maybe someday you'll meet somebody really important, and then you'll
- 24:36Speaker 7: know what importance is. I mean, maybe somebody who has
- 24:39Speaker 7: a little bit more integrity than you have.
- 24:40Speaker 3: Well, I guess you're not in the know. If you
- 24:42Speaker 3: were in the know, you'd know who I was.
- 24:46Speaker 7: If I was in the know, I would know really
- 24:48Speaker 7: important people, not people who have inflated egos who think
- 24:52Speaker 7: they're wonderful because they own a steakhouse.
- 24:54Speaker 4: Big deal.
- 24:56Speaker 1: I want to ask a question, Ted.
- 24:58Speaker 3: Listen to this woman. You obviously don't know what you're
- 25:00Speaker 3: talking about, lady, okay?
- 25:01Speaker 1: No, I want to ask you a question. What happened
- 25:03Speaker 1: to the car that you hit?
- 25:04Speaker 3: Yeah, you think that's real funny.
- 25:05Speaker 7: Yes, I do.
- 25:07Speaker 1: What happened to the car you hit?
- 25:09Speaker 3: My wife saw it as we were going by. She
- 25:11Speaker 3: said it was a Ford Taurus or something and it
- 25:13Speaker 3: wasn't worth stopping for. We could go back and we
- 25:15Speaker 3: could put a name on the windshield. It was just
- 25:17Speaker 3: a little person.
- 25:17Speaker 7: At a Ford Taurus.
- 25:19Speaker 3: Big deal.
- 25:19Speaker 7: Some working guy that probably just has to work for
- 25:22Speaker 7: a living.
- 25:23Speaker 3: Wait a second. I didn't say I wasn't going to
- 25:24Speaker 3: pay for it. Why do I have to stop right
- 25:26Speaker 3: then and there?
- 25:27Speaker 7: Because that's the law.
- 25:29Speaker 3: Well, you know what?
- 25:30Speaker 7: Anybody else that runs from the scene of an accident
- 25:32Speaker 7: gets arrested, sir.
- 25:34Speaker 3: The law is one thing. That's right. And you know
- 25:38Speaker 3: about it. Next time you get invited to the Golden
- 25:40Speaker 3: Globe Awards, you tell me.
- 25:42Speaker 7: I wouldn't even care about that.
- 25:43Speaker 3: You tell me.
- 25:43Speaker 7: The Golden Globe Awards. Bunch of popped up, full of
- 25:47Speaker 7: themselves people.
- 25:48Speaker 3: Let me ask you a question. Let me ask you
- 25:49Speaker 3: a question. You're on your way to the Golden Globe Awards, okay?
- 25:53Speaker 3: Are you telling me you're going to stop for a cop?
- 25:55Speaker 7: Yes, I certainly would, because that's the law.
- 25:58Speaker 3: Lady, I feel sorry for you.
- 25:58Speaker 7: I wouldn't have broken the law like you did by
- 26:00Speaker 7: running three red lights and running into a car. I mean,
- 26:03Speaker 7: like a teenager driving around in his daddy's big car.
- 26:06Speaker 1: You ran into a parked car.
- 26:08Speaker 3: I ran into a Ford Taurus, okay?
- 26:10Speaker 7: So?
- 26:11Speaker 1: You ran into a.
- 26:12Speaker 3: There's a big difference between that and a regular... I
- 26:14Speaker 3: ran into a Ford Taurus, okay?
- 26:16Speaker 1: You ran into a parked car. You blew three red lights.
- 26:20Speaker 1: You might have had the police behind you the whole way,
- 26:22Speaker 1: and you didn't stop at all, right?
- 26:23Speaker 3: I know the cops were there.
- 26:25Speaker 1: You knew the cops were there?
- 26:26Speaker 3: Yes. That's why I said, why didn't they run my plates?
- 26:31Speaker 1: So you knew the cops were there, and you saw
- 26:33Speaker 1: their lights in your rearview mirror, and you did not yield.
- 26:36Speaker 3: Why can't they run my plates? Yeah, I don't have
- 26:39Speaker 3: an answer for that one, do you? Of course you don't,
- 26:41Speaker 3: because you don't know who.
- 26:43Speaker 7: Are you talking to me?
- 26:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm talking to anybody with an answer, but obviously
- 26:46Speaker 3: nobody here has got an answer.
- 26:47Speaker 7: Well, why should they give you the deference of running
- 26:49Speaker 7: your place when anybody else has to stop?
- 26:51Speaker 3: I told them who I was.
- 26:52Speaker 7: I mean, so you just assumed they could run your
- 26:54Speaker 7: place and... I told them who I was. Well, I mean, wow, whoopee-doo.
- 26:58Speaker 3: I told them who I was. You... The law says
- 27:01Speaker 3: you stop at.
- 27:02Speaker 7: The scene of an accident, sir, and you also don't
- 27:04Speaker 7: run red lights.
- 27:06Speaker 3: Most adult people.
- 27:07Speaker 7: That I know that are mature don't do things like that.
- 27:10Speaker 3: Do I feel sorry for you? Oh, do you really? Yeah,
- 27:13Speaker 3: I really do.
- 27:14Speaker 7: I'm so glad that you're not living in my neighborhood.
- 27:16Speaker 3: I really do. I do. I feel sorry for you.
- 27:18Speaker 7: Oh, I'm so glad.
- 27:18Speaker 3: Because you just don't get it.
- 27:19Speaker 7: I really want your pity, sir, because I don't need it.
- 27:22Speaker 3: You don't get it. It's not pity. It's just I
- 27:24Speaker 3: just feel so bad because you don't get it.
- 27:26Speaker 7: Why do you feel badly for me?
- 27:27Speaker 3: Because you just don't get it.
- 27:27Speaker 7: In fact, it's not bad.
- 27:28Speaker 3: It's badly, sir. You don't get how it works.
- 27:31Speaker 7: Oh, I don't know how it works because out there
- 27:33Speaker 7: everybody is like in a big bunch and, you know,
- 27:35Speaker 7: and I've got to do this for you and this
- 27:37Speaker 7: for you and then you'll do this for me and
- 27:39Speaker 7: the police are supposed to just turn the other way.
- 27:42Speaker 3: Let me put it this way. There are some people
- 27:44Speaker 3: who you give some recognition to. I walk into a business.
- 27:48Speaker 3: I say that I'm Ted Bell. I say I'm Ted Bell.
- 27:53Speaker 3: Things happen. Okay?
- 27:55Speaker 7: Well, not on here they wouldn't.
- 27:57Speaker 3: It didn't happen last night.
- 27:58Speaker 7: Oh, goody gumdrop.
- 27:59Speaker 3: Hey, I happen to know some people in San Antonio, okay? Oh,
- 28:02Speaker 3: I'm glad you do. I wouldn't be too cocky about that.
- 28:06Speaker 3: You know who Red McCombs is?
- 28:07Speaker 7: Of course I know who Red McCombs is.
- 28:09Speaker 3: I happen to tip the glass with Red.
- 28:12Speaker 1: Okay, big deal if you tip the glass with Red. What,
- 28:15Speaker 1: do you think the San Antonio cops ain't going to
- 28:16Speaker 1: write you a ticket either because you tipped the glass
- 28:17Speaker 1: with Red McCombs? Thank you very much, ma'am.
- 28:19Speaker 6: 1-800-BOY.
- 28:21Speaker 3: Aren't you frustrated?
- 28:23Speaker 1: Oh, come on, Ted. Quit being a jackass. You know,
- 28:25Speaker 1: you got a ticket last night.
- 28:27Speaker 3: I got more than a ticket last night, Phil.
- 28:29Speaker 1: Okay, well, maybe you deserve to get more than a
- 28:31Speaker 1: ticket last night. Your invitation to the Golden Globe Awards
- 28:35Speaker 1: got messed up because you blew three red lights and
- 28:37Speaker 1: ran into a parked car. Here's Louisville on the Phil
- 28:40Speaker 1: Henry Show.
- 28:41Speaker 3: Hello.
- 28:42Speaker 4: Yes.
- 28:43Speaker 1: Louisville, yes, sir.
- 28:44Speaker 3: Yes.
- 28:45Speaker 5: Yeah, just talking about an emergency here. Good evening, Ted.
- 28:49Speaker 3: How are you? Good evening, sir. How are you?
- 28:51Speaker 5: I'm having a delightful evening.
- 28:53Speaker 3: Thank you. I'm very glad.
- 28:54Speaker 5: Listen, I'm a former law enforcement officer, and I have
- 28:59Speaker 5: emergencies in my life, too.
- 29:00Speaker 3: Let me guess. You're going to tell me that I'm
- 29:03Speaker 3: not above the law or something like that. I'm not
- 29:05Speaker 3: claiming to be above the law. I'm not claiming that
- 29:08Speaker 3: at all. I'd say, why couldn't they have mailed me
- 29:10Speaker 3: the ticket?
- 29:11Speaker 5: Because that's not the way the system works.
- 29:13Speaker 3: Well, they better change it. Well, they won't. Have you
- 29:16Speaker 3: ever heard of the Golden Globes? Do you know how
- 29:18Speaker 3: the Golden Globes work?
- 29:19Speaker 5: It doesn't matter.
- 29:20Speaker 3: Oh, it doesn't matter. I'm supposed to know how your
- 29:22Speaker 3: system works.
- 29:23Speaker 5: It matters to you, but it doesn't matter. It's not
- 29:25Speaker 5: going to change police policy.
- 29:26Speaker 3: Well, wait a second. I'm supposed to know your system,
- 29:28Speaker 3: but you don't know how the Golden Globes work?
- 29:30Speaker 5: The system is the system, and it's for the better
- 29:33Speaker 5: of all people.
- 29:33Speaker 3: And the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
- 29:36Speaker 5: I've seen the Golden Globes, but it never changed my life.
- 29:38Speaker 3: What do you think about them?
- 29:41Speaker 5: I can watch them for about 15 minutes.
- 29:43Speaker 3: What do you mean, 15 minutes? It doesn't affect my life.
- 29:47Speaker 5: It affects your life. It doesn't affect my life.
- 29:48Speaker 8: It doesn't affect most people's lives.
- 29:51Speaker 3: Do you know who the Hollywood Foreign Press Association is?
- 29:56Speaker 5: It doesn't matter.
- 29:57Speaker 3: Do you know who they are? No, and it doesn't matter. Okay, well,
- 30:01Speaker 3: there you go. See, now you're blowing it. Now you're
- 30:05Speaker 3: blowing it.
- 30:06Speaker 7: Oh, boy.
- 30:06Speaker 1: The Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Now we're blowing it, huh? Hey, Ted,
- 30:10Speaker 1: you wanted to come on and talk about the Golden Globes,
- 30:13Speaker 1: and you.
- 30:13Speaker 3: Yeah, I want to do, and if it wasn't for
- 30:14Speaker 3: the Beverly Hills Police Department, I would have.
- 30:16Speaker 1: No, if it wasn't for you blowing three red lights,
- 30:19Speaker 1: smashing into a parked car, you would have. As it
- 30:22Speaker 1: turns out, you missed them because you probably got arrested.
- 30:25Speaker 1: Isn't that true?
- 30:25Speaker 3: I can't comment.
- 30:27Speaker 1: You must have been arrested. Fleeing the police? Hit and run?
- 30:31Speaker 1: You must have been arrested.
- 30:33Speaker 3: I'm not commenting, Phil. And I'd watch how I talk
- 30:35Speaker 3: if I were you.
- 30:37Speaker 1: Well, I can draw conclusions. You're a former police officer,
- 30:41Speaker 1: isn't that right, sir?
- 30:42Speaker 3: Yes.
- 30:42Speaker 1: What do you think happened to a guy that blows
- 30:44Speaker 1: three red lights, doesn't yield for the police, hits a
- 30:46Speaker 1: car and keeps on going?
- 30:47Speaker 5: When I was a sergeant and I had to write
- 30:49Speaker 5: tickets to a colonel.
- 30:49Speaker 3: He got arrested.
- 30:51Speaker 5: Now, we had the protocol to have another officer come out.
- 30:55Speaker 3: And take care of it. I had to write tickets
- 30:57Speaker 3: to a crew. It doesn't matter.
- 30:58Speaker 5: Colonel who?
- 31:01Speaker 3: Years ago. What are you talking about? Colonel, what's he
- 31:03Speaker 3: talking about?
- 31:03Speaker 1: All right, never mind. He was a former cop.
- 31:05Speaker 5: I was a law enforcement officer in the military at
- 31:07Speaker 5: one time.
- 31:08Speaker 3: In the what?
- 31:08Speaker 1: In the military. Thank you very much.
- 31:10Speaker 3: It doesn't make sense. It's not adding up.
- 31:13Speaker 1: Okay, thank you very much, sir.
- 31:14Speaker 3: It doesn't make sense.
- 31:15Speaker 1: Thank you, sir, very much for your call.
- 31:17Speaker 3: I'm confused. Hold on.
- 31:20Speaker 1: Phil Henry's show, Ted Bell here. How about that? Did
- 31:24Speaker 1: he even see any of the, did he see what
- 31:25Speaker 1: he said? He walked in just as Tom Cruise was
- 31:27Speaker 1: getting his award, and then the cops hauled him back
- 31:29Speaker 1: out again? So we saw Tom Cruise, Dick Clark, and
- 31:31Speaker 1: that was it. He's out the back door again. Ted Bell,
- 31:35Speaker 1: Ted's at Beverly Hills Steakhouse, is an idiot. How about that?
- 31:40Speaker 1: How about that for a recap? Phil Henry's show, 1-800-449-8686.
- 31:57Speaker 1: This is Phil Henry, show 1-800-449-8686 with Ted Bell. You're
- 32:02Speaker 1: talking about this cop who didn't know who you were
- 32:04Speaker 1: last night, Ted.
- 32:06Speaker 3: Phil, I think that it is the responsibility of the
- 32:07Speaker 3: police to get to know prominent citizens. I said to him,
- 32:10Speaker 3: I'm Ted Bell, and he looked at me with a
- 32:14Speaker 3: blank look at his face. Again, I have to go
- 32:17Speaker 3: back to the same point that I was making. I
- 32:19Speaker 3: think it's the responsibility of the police to understand... who
- 32:24Speaker 3: they're dealing with. This kid did not. He'll pay the price.
- 32:30Speaker 1: How will he pay the price? The cops busted you
- 32:33Speaker 1: last night for running red lights, smashing a car. How's
- 32:36Speaker 1: he going to pay the price?
- 32:38Speaker 3: I said, oh, I'm Ted Bell. I gave him a
- 32:40Speaker 3: couple of opportunities to understand that. He didn't.
- 32:44Speaker 1: I think you've got to know people, Ted, before they
- 32:47Speaker 1: know you. I mean, I think you've got to get
- 32:50Speaker 1: to know them before somebody says, Hi, I'm Ted Bell.
- 32:52Speaker 3: Phil, you don't know how it works out here. I
- 32:54Speaker 3: keep trying to tell you, you don't know how it
- 32:56Speaker 3: works out here.
- 32:57Speaker 1: No, I think I'm getting to know how it works
- 32:58Speaker 1: out there. Dallas on the Phil Henry Show.
- 33:00Speaker 6: Hello.
- 33:02Speaker 1: Yes, sir.
- 33:02Speaker 4: Why does he think he's better than anybody else?
- 33:06Speaker 3: I didn't say I'm better than anybody else. All I
- 33:07Speaker 3: said was I'm Ted Bell. I deserve certain considerations.
- 33:11Speaker 4: See, that's what I'm saying.
- 33:13Speaker 3: You made your point right there. Why do I think
- 33:15Speaker 3: I'm better than you?
- 33:16Speaker 4: You keep saying I'm Ted Bell. I was going to
- 33:19Speaker 4: Golden Globe. They shouldn't have done anything to me.
- 33:22Speaker 3: Why? Because it's the Golden Globe Awards. Big deal.
- 33:26Speaker 4: Big deal.
- 33:27Speaker 3: The Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
- 33:30Speaker 4: What would have happened if somebody had been in that
- 33:32Speaker 4: car you hit?
- 33:33Speaker 3: If you're a cop, don't you think you owe it
- 33:36Speaker 3: to yourself to get to know Ted Bell?
- 33:38Speaker 4: No.
- 33:39Speaker 3: You're not a very good police officer.
- 33:41Speaker 4: What if somebody had been in that car you hit
- 33:44Speaker 4: and got hurt?
- 33:45Speaker 3: What if somebody had been in that car that I
- 33:46Speaker 3: hit and got hurt?
- 33:47Speaker 4: Right.
- 33:48Speaker 3: It didn't happen, did it?
- 33:49Speaker 4: Well, what if?
- 33:50Speaker 3: Well, we're dealing in hypotheticals, sir. I deal in reality.
- 33:53Speaker 3: I deal in reality. I'm Ted Bell.
- 33:55Speaker 4: I don't know. You live in your own world.
- 33:56Speaker 3: No, sir. Ted Bell deals in reality. I hit the car.
- 34:00Speaker 3: The car got smashed up. It was a Ford Taurus
- 34:03Speaker 3: or something. Big wow.
- 34:05Speaker 4: Why is a BMW better than a Ford Taurus?
- 34:08Speaker 3: The reality was why is a BMW better than a
- 34:11Speaker 3: Ford Taurus? Do you really want to ask that question, sir?
- 34:13Speaker 3: Do you really don't know the answer to that?
- 34:15Speaker 4: So everybody that drives a Ford Taurus is lower than
- 34:18Speaker 4: you are.
- 34:18Speaker 3: Are you familiar with the BMW 800 Series?
- 34:21Speaker 4: Sure am.
- 34:21Speaker 3: You are? Okay. Then you know what it is.
- 34:23Speaker 4: Exactly.
- 34:23Speaker 3: Mm-hmm.
- 34:25Speaker 8: This is ridiculous.
- 34:26Speaker 3: What is ridiculous about it, sir?
- 34:28Speaker 4: You keep saying, I'm Ted Bell going to the Golden
- 34:32Speaker 4: Globe Awards.
- 34:33Speaker 3: Jesus. Sir, I'm Ted Bell.
- 34:37Speaker 4: See?
- 34:37Speaker 3: See?
- 34:38Speaker 4: Everybody listen to him.
- 34:39Speaker 3: No, wait. Hold on for a minute. I said that
- 34:42Speaker 3: to the cop last night. Guess what he did?
- 34:44Speaker 5: Probably said so.
- 34:47Speaker 3: He looked at me like he didn't know what I
- 34:48Speaker 3: was talking about.
- 34:49Speaker 4: Thank God.
- 34:50Speaker 3: What's that supposed to mean?
- 34:52Speaker 4: Why are you better than anybody else?
- 34:54Speaker 3: I don't think I'm better than anybody else. I'm saying
- 34:56Speaker 3: that I'm a prominent citizen.
- 34:57Speaker 1: Sir, if I could jump in. Mr. Bell owns a
- 35:00Speaker 1: couple of restaurants in Beverly Hills.
- 35:01Speaker 3: You tell him, Bill.
- 35:03Speaker 1: I'm not here to defend you, okay?
- 35:04Speaker 3: No, but let this guy know what's going on. Let's say, sir,
- 35:08Speaker 3: the gentleman that I'm speaking to, where are you, in Dallas? Right.
- 35:10Speaker 3: All right, let's say you're a cop, okay? Okay. All right,
- 35:14Speaker 3: you write me a ticket, right? Mm-hmm. And I walk
- 35:16Speaker 3: up to you and I go, I'm Ted Bell. What
- 35:20Speaker 3: do you say?
- 35:22Speaker 4: Well, sir, you're just an ordinary citizen who.
- 35:24Speaker 7: Broke the law.
- 35:25Speaker 3: Yeah, but wait a second. I'm Ted Bell.
- 35:28Speaker 4: Well, sir, that doesn't matter to me. I'm doing my job.
- 35:31Speaker 3: You're what?
- 35:32Speaker 4: I'm doing my job. I'm going to have to write
- 35:34Speaker 4: you a ticket.
- 35:34Speaker 3: Your job is to mess with Ted Bell?
- 35:38Speaker 8: Ted Bell broke the law.
- 35:40Speaker 3: You see the name of that driver's license? It says
- 35:42Speaker 3: Ted Bell.
- 35:43Speaker 4: Big deal.
- 35:44Speaker 3: Speak deep. Oh, boy, this guy. You wouldn't be on
- 35:47Speaker 3: the force 48 hours, sir.
- 35:49Speaker 8: I'd say, sir, if.
- 35:50Speaker 4: You said that to me that many times, I'd say, sir,
- 35:52Speaker 4: Ted Bell, would you please get in the car? I'm
- 35:54Speaker 4: going to arrest you.
- 35:55Speaker 3: For what?
- 35:56Speaker 1: For running red lights.
- 35:58Speaker 4: Three red lights and hitting the car and leaving the
- 36:00Speaker 4: scene of an accident.
- 36:02Speaker 3: So you'd say, Ted Bell, would you get in the car, please?
- 36:04Speaker 3: That's right.
- 36:04Speaker 4: And I'd probably cuff you.
- 36:07Speaker 3: You'd cuff me?
- 36:08Speaker 4: Yes, sir.
- 36:09Speaker 3: You'd resist arrest. You're talking about handcuffs? Exactly. Mr., you'd
- 36:14Speaker 3: be off the force in 48 hours. Oh, you find
- 36:20Speaker 3: that funny, huh, Henry? What's that mean? Mr.
- 36:25Speaker 4: Henry, all I got to say is I'm glad I
- 36:27Speaker 4: don't have to go out there and eat steak very much.
- 36:29Speaker 3: You don't have to come out here and eat steak
- 36:31Speaker 3: very much?
- 36:31Speaker 4: Thank God.
- 36:32Speaker 3: When you do have to come out here and eat steak,
- 36:34Speaker 3: where do you eat?
- 36:36Speaker 4: I wouldn't eat there, that's for sure.
- 36:38Speaker 3: Tell you what, we've got a great prime cut.
- 36:40Speaker 1: Okay, forget it. Thanks, sir, for your call.
- 36:42Speaker 3: Okay, bye-bye.
- 36:42Speaker 1: What are you, an idiot?
- 36:43Speaker 3: No, I'm not an idiot, Phil.
- 36:45Speaker 1: I know, you're Ted Bell.
- 36:46Speaker 3: That's right.
- 36:48Speaker 1: Santa Maria on the Phil Henry Show.
- 36:49Speaker 7: Hello.
- 36:50Speaker 6: Hello there.
- 36:51Speaker 3: Yes.
- 36:52Speaker 9: Hi. Yes, Ted Bell, I hear you own a couple
- 36:56Speaker 9: of restaurants.
- 36:56Speaker 3: Yes, ma'am, I do.
- 36:57Speaker 7: Yes, so I guess.
- 36:58Speaker 3: You're in Santa Maria. You know the Santa Maria barbecue, right?
- 37:00Speaker 6: Oh, yes.
- 37:01Speaker 9: I guess you've had to train a few employees to
- 37:04Speaker 9: have a good business.
- 37:05Speaker 3: Ted Bell has, yes.
- 37:06Speaker 9: Oh, well, I imagine you have to to keep a
- 37:08Speaker 9: business running.
- 37:09Speaker 3: Ted Bell's trained many employees.
- 37:12Speaker 9: Well, I mean, how can you not keep a successful business?
- 37:15Speaker 3: That's right.
- 37:16Speaker 7: Right.
- 37:16Speaker 9: Just like the Beverly Hills cops. I mean, they are
- 37:19Speaker 9: protecting everyone.
- 37:21Speaker 3: Ted Bell takes care of his customers.
- 37:23Speaker 9: Including the police department?
- 37:26Speaker 3: Beverly Hills Police Department doesn't take care of Ted Bell.
- 37:29Speaker 3: There you go. And I'm glad I was able to
- 37:32Speaker 3: educate you.
- 37:32Speaker 6: Right.
- 37:33Speaker 3: Okay, thanks for the call. Bye-bye. Nice talking to you. Bye.
- 37:36Speaker 1: Well, what did you do? Did you hang up on her?
- 37:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 37:38Speaker 1: How'd you do it? You're a caller.
- 37:40Speaker 3: I don't know. It's just something I know. I'm Ted Bell.
