- 0:04Speaker 1: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett. Hello, Big
- 0:12Speaker 1: Blue Nation, Welcome to Just the Cats. My name is
- 0:16Speaker 1: Michael Bennett. On this Wednesday day, July twenty ninth, as
- 0:21Speaker 1: we celebrate the last Wednesday of this month. And uh boy,
- 0:26Speaker 1: it's it's hard to believe it's going to be August
- 0:28Speaker 1: first on Saturday? Is that right?
- 0:30Speaker 2: Justin Yeah, it is hard to believe. Oh no, it'd
- 0:33Speaker 2: be yeah, Saturday. Here, I'll just look right now, Yeah, Saturday,
- 0:38Speaker 2: it is Saturday.
- 0:39Speaker 1: I don't remember how many days July have. Yeah, I
- 0:42Speaker 1: can't ever remember that. I was never good with the
- 0:45Speaker 1: months in the days.
- 0:46Speaker 2: You don't do the mountain thing with your fingers. I
- 0:48Speaker 2: don't even know what the mountain thing is. Oh really
- 0:51Speaker 2: wait wait I gotta learn this now. So if you
- 0:53Speaker 2: put your hands together like this, look at the camera.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Yeah, they got them all.
- 0:57Speaker 2: So you got knuckle. That's a high. January thirty one,
- 1:01Speaker 2: February low, March thirty one, April low. See what I'm saying,
- 1:07Speaker 2: So like all your knuckles equal the hot the months
- 1:10Speaker 2: with more days.
- 1:12Speaker 1: What now, March is the pinky? No March, okay, I
- 1:18Speaker 1: mean January is the pink.
- 1:19Speaker 2: January is the pinky knuckles, so thirty days, then you
- 1:22Speaker 2: thirty one, but then you go higher. No, it's January
- 1:26Speaker 2: thirty one. That's why it's your knuckle. And then you
- 1:28Speaker 2: go between your knuckles is the that's February. Your next knuckles,
- 1:33Speaker 2: March thirty one, Okay, April, May, June, July, and just
- 1:38Speaker 2: keep going like that.
- 1:39Speaker 1: April has thirty, May has thirty one, June has thirty,
- 1:44Speaker 1: July has thirty one. Wow.
- 1:46Speaker 2: And then if you go over to your next hand,
- 1:48Speaker 2: all you've got another knuckle, so you know, August has
- 1:50Speaker 2: thirty one.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Yeah, August September has thirty. Oh my gosh, that is
- 1:56Speaker 1: mind blowing up. I'm surprised you never heard that. I
- 1:58Speaker 1: have never heard that before. Now I will never just
- 2:01Speaker 1: by using something different like that, that's totally I look
- 2:05Speaker 1: like an idiot. I know I do, thanks for putting
- 2:07Speaker 1: us on YouTube, but I was just like that, that
- 2:10Speaker 1: blew my mind. I have never heard that in my
- 2:12Speaker 1: life before. But now I learned something from Justin Kaylin
- 2:16Speaker 1: and I you, I just is that what you learned first? Ay?
- 2:19Speaker 2: And I you No, that's they that's actually how they
- 2:21Speaker 2: taught us in like elementary school.
- 2:24Speaker 1: How many days were in the months. Clearly I went
- 2:26Speaker 1: to the wrong place and uh but but shout out
- 2:29Speaker 1: to Chance uh Kindergarten and uh Kentucky Country to Day,
- 2:35Speaker 1: So there you go. Uh but anyway, I'm proud of
- 2:38Speaker 1: those two schools, even though one of them kicked me out. Anyway.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Uh So, by the way, you know, we talked about
- 2:45Speaker 1: it briefly on your show. Uh psch to everyone that
- 2:49Speaker 1: thought I sixty five was going to be open, this
- 2:52Speaker 1: they get. I love how the political leaders of this
- 2:55Speaker 1: state get on all the news channels. Oh, we're so
- 2:59Speaker 1: proud of this. If you can believe it were opening earlier.
- 3:02Speaker 1: It's going to be open at midnight tonight. And I
- 3:06Speaker 1: actually thought about this. I looked at Patricia said, this
- 3:10Speaker 1: is this is the smallest town thing you could ever do.
- 3:13Speaker 1: I said, Patricia, let's go drive by I sixty five.
- 3:16Speaker 1: I did not. I certainly did, And she's like, are
- 3:20Speaker 1: you twelve. I'm like, I just kind of something i'd do.
- 3:25Speaker 1: I don't know. But yeah, it wasn't open, was it? So?
- 3:29Speaker 1: From the way I understood it, it was open. Northbound
- 3:33Speaker 1: lane is open. The southbound lane, from what I understand,
- 3:36Speaker 1: is still closed. There is a part. I believe southbound
- 3:39Speaker 1: is open or it's now open, okay, because it wasn't.
- 3:42Speaker 1: On the news this morning it was still closed.
- 3:44Speaker 2: But there's a there's a part of it that is
- 3:46Speaker 2: closed by like Catherine Street. Maybe, well why drive it.
- 3:50Speaker 2: I don't know that's not open, that's still closed. I
- 3:54Speaker 2: don't think the whole thing. I just think there was
- 3:56Speaker 2: a couple of lanes that didn't.
- 3:57Speaker 1: This is the dumbest thing ever. I just, oh my gosh,
- 4:01Speaker 1: I get so frustrated with the city of Louisville, Kentucky.
- 4:05Speaker 1: In the state of Kentucky. You don't want have to
- 4:06Speaker 1: take sixty five, right, I do if I want to
- 4:10Speaker 1: go to certain places. So for instance, if I'm driving
- 4:14Speaker 1: from my house to Churchill Downs, that is the way
- 4:16Speaker 1: I go. I go seventy one, I go River Road
- 4:20Speaker 1: to seventy one, seventy one to sixty five, sixty five
- 4:23Speaker 1: to uh, whatever the road is that gets me off
- 4:26Speaker 1: there at the Fairgrounds and takes me to Central Avenue,
- 4:29Speaker 1: and I turn right on Central and boom, I'm right there.
- 4:32Speaker 2: It does still show on the traffic map that it's
- 4:35Speaker 2: closed by the way going north.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Okay, so we don't know what's going on this morning.
- 4:39Speaker 1: It was closed because they were making a big deal
- 4:42Speaker 1: on it. How you know, the certain people were out
- 4:45Speaker 1: there making speeches. I'm not going to make fun of them,
- 4:48Speaker 1: but they did look kind of ridiculous. And here they're
- 4:52Speaker 1: making the speech and then it's not even open today.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Go figure. I'm right there with you. So between that
- 5:01Speaker 1: and then, I was entertained this morning as I was
- 5:03Speaker 1: getting some work done by something going across my backyard.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Oh what was it? And I'm like, is that is
- 5:13Speaker 1: that trash? Or is it moving? And I couldn't really
- 5:16Speaker 1: see because my back window had moisture all over it,
- 5:21Speaker 1: and so I'm like, I'm getting outside. I went out
- 5:23Speaker 1: in the deck and I'm like, what is that thing?
- 5:26Speaker 1: It was mostly white, and I'm like, oh crap, that's
- 5:30Speaker 1: a skunk. Ha ha. So I had a skunk going
- 5:34Speaker 1: through my backyard this morning, and I'm like, I'm thank
- 5:38Speaker 1: goodness I don't have a dog, and thank goodness it
- 5:43Speaker 1: wasn't close to me. I mean, it was way in
- 5:45Speaker 1: the backyard. So I looked up immediately is it good
- 5:50Speaker 1: to have skunks around your house? And it says yes,
- 5:54Speaker 1: it is. I would say, because what did they eat? Grubs, mice, rodents,
- 6:01Speaker 1: all that kind of stuff. But they do dig holes.
- 6:04Speaker 1: That's fine. I don't want holes in my backyard.
- 6:07Speaker 2: I mean, you're gonna get them from somewhere, right, Moles
- 6:10Speaker 2: are groundhogs or something.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Yeah. I do have a family of chickmunks that live
- 6:16Speaker 1: under my front porch that have cracked my front sidewalk
- 6:21Speaker 1: because of the holes they dug.
- 6:22Speaker 2: Chipmunks are, in my opinion, the cutest animal around. There
- 6:26Speaker 2: is nothing cuter than a chip.
- 6:27Speaker 1: You ever watch those guys that have odd animals as
- 6:31Speaker 1: their pets, like raccoons, squirrels, all that kind of stuff,
- 6:36Speaker 1: and I'm like, that seems like the coolest thing.
- 6:39Speaker 2: Hey, speaking of animals, I was actually thinking about you
- 6:42Speaker 2: early this morning.
- 6:43Speaker 1: I was looking up that's scary. Actually, I don't know
- 6:45Speaker 1: how I even ran across it. But are you familiar
- 6:48Speaker 1: with the kappy bara with a what a cappy barra?
- 6:52Speaker 1: What that is? I have no idea what that is?
- 6:54Speaker 1: So it's a big, huge rodent. Okay, how do you
- 6:57Speaker 1: spell that? C apy br a? See a p y
- 7:04Speaker 1: bar a? Okay?
- 7:07Speaker 2: So I had no idea until this morning. These are
- 7:12Speaker 2: in Florida. Really, there is an.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Established population of kapy Bara in Florida. Yeah, I'm looking
- 7:19Speaker 1: at this right now, and immediately it has a guy
- 7:21Speaker 1: that has one as a pet. Then it has a
- 7:24Speaker 1: lady that has one as a pet.
- 7:25Speaker 2: There I want to say, there's a petting zoo here
- 7:28Speaker 2: in Kentucky. Oh really where you can actually go interact
- 7:31Speaker 2: with kapy Bar.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Well, when I left here last week, there was that
- 7:34Speaker 1: petting zoo right here in the parking lot of the
- 7:36Speaker 1: radio sto. They have that. Yeah, that's fun, And I'm no,
- 7:40Speaker 1: it's not where they parked the pets and where they
- 7:42Speaker 1: have everything. It's like, I'm ready to run over these people.
- 7:46Speaker 1: You got to go out the other way. Oh okay,
- 7:48Speaker 1: I didn't think. Well, I go one way. I mean
- 7:51Speaker 1: I always go the same way every time. If you
- 7:53Speaker 1: mess me up and make me go a different way,
- 7:55Speaker 1: I'm all messed up the rest of the day. But
- 7:57Speaker 1: they had a wild turkey just walking around the parking lot.
- 8:00Speaker 1: I didn't know you could have a wild turkey that
- 8:02Speaker 1: would just stay around in the vicinity of the people
- 8:04Speaker 1: that own it. That doesn't that means it's not wild then, right,
- 8:08Speaker 1: I guess. So I don't know, all right, if you
- 8:11Speaker 1: had an exotic pet. What would you want it to be?
- 8:15Speaker 1: Would it be this capybara?
- 8:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it would happen it, really, I think so. Yeah,
- 8:21Speaker 2: they're they're really cool.
- 8:22Speaker 1: I hate to tell you. I'd probably want a tiger.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Oh okay, yeah, that's what exactly, or or a big bear.
- 8:30Speaker 1: I would want a jaguar, a jaguar. I love how
- 8:34Speaker 1: you just said that. That's how you're saying, no, it's
- 8:36Speaker 1: not a jaguar. It's not a jaguar. It's a jaguar.
- 8:39Speaker 1: But g a g W I r E jaguar. Yeah,
- 8:42Speaker 1: you're going to stay it the way the British guy
- 8:44Speaker 1: says it on the commercial lunge Jack you are, But no,
- 8:49Speaker 1: I would want a tiger or something along those. I
- 8:52Speaker 1: was always envious of those magician magicians out in Las Vegas,
- 8:56Speaker 1: Sigfried and Roy. Do you remember them. They've been in
- 8:59Speaker 1: the Cup movies. They were in vacation all that kind
- 9:01Speaker 1: of stuff, Vegas vacation, and I'm like, men, those guys
- 9:06Speaker 1: are lucky, and then one of them kills the other one.
- 9:08Speaker 1: I was like, oh my gosh, I just I don't know,
- 9:12Speaker 1: I just that seems like it would be the coolest thing. Ever,
- 9:14Speaker 1: but I think what would make me go broke is
- 9:17Speaker 1: feeding them. Oh for sure. Yeah, I don't think I
- 9:20Speaker 1: could afford that.
- 9:21Speaker 2: I think Carole Baskins put her husband in the meat grinder.
- 9:24Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that's that's a lovely subject anyway. But thanks
- 9:31Speaker 2: thanks for mentioning that part right there. But okay, so
- 9:36Speaker 2: yesterday some unfortunate big news that came out of the
- 9:41Speaker 2: University of Kentucky as we found out that the brand
- 9:47Speaker 2: new Universe of Kentucky football general manager Pat Beyondo announcing
- 9:52Speaker 2: abruptly that he's leaving UK for personal reasons. And I
- 9:56Speaker 2: asked everyone not to ask questions about it, just just
- 9:59Speaker 2: please keep it personal, because it's personal reasons that makes
- 10:03Speaker 2: me want to ask questions. Absolutely, yeah, because this is
- 10:07Speaker 2: a guy that came from Oregon, that was on the
- 10:12Speaker 2: literally on the jet with will Stein when they came
- 10:15Speaker 2: from Oregon and announced will Stein as the head coach
- 10:18Speaker 2: of the football program, and for him to just abruptly
- 10:22Speaker 2: leave after only what a couple of months and now
- 10:25Speaker 2: he's gone.
- 10:26Speaker 1: When did he get hired?
- 10:27Speaker 2: Even that's a good question. I don't remember the exact date,
- 10:32Speaker 2: but I don't feel like it's been but two three months.
- 10:35Speaker 1: It hasn't. No, it ain't been that. But but you
- 10:39Speaker 1: look at this and you think, okay, what could the
- 10:43Speaker 1: personal reasons be? And there's a number of them out there,
- 10:46Speaker 1: and rather than go dark, I want to keep one
- 10:52Speaker 1: right here. Could it have been what will Stein said
- 10:57Speaker 1: at the SEC Media Football Days, The reason UK is
- 11:02Speaker 1: doing well is because of me. That was literally the
- 11:09Speaker 1: first thing got thought of. That's it. I'm out of here.
- 11:12Speaker 1: I'm I can't do it anymore if you're not giving
- 11:14Speaker 1: me credit exactly, because doesn't doesn't Pat Beyondo deserve some
- 11:20Speaker 1: credit for this football team that they're in, all these
- 11:23Speaker 1: players that they're bringing in. It can't be just because
- 11:26Speaker 1: of will Stein. I think will Stein definitely gets a
- 11:30Speaker 1: good portion of the credit, but shouldn't the GM get
- 11:34Speaker 1: some of the credit as well? Oh it's so funny.
- 11:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean you're you're right, But I have a
- 11:39Speaker 2: hard time believing that's that's the reason.
- 11:42Speaker 1: I would hope not. But I'm just trying to have fun.
- 11:45Speaker 1: I'm just trying to have fun. I would hope not
- 11:48Speaker 1: that's the reason. But something has happened. Especially when they
- 11:52Speaker 1: say it's a personal reason, does that make you feel
- 11:57Speaker 1: something within the family, does that. Yeah, that typically, Yeah,
- 12:00Speaker 1: it tells me somebody didn't like Lexington, and I just
- 12:04Speaker 1: I feel like, maybe, I don't know, somebody sick or
- 12:07Speaker 1: some or something where he's not going to be able
- 12:09Speaker 1: to concentrate fully on his job. Yeah. It's really a
- 12:12Speaker 1: shame because it was a great fit. I like the
- 12:15Speaker 1: two of them working together. And uh, you know, especially
- 12:19Speaker 1: when you bring somebody from Oregon. Now he's out here.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Uh uh, I'm I'm at what's end. I really don't know.
- 12:27Speaker 1: No one is saying anything. I called a number of
- 12:30Speaker 1: people yesterday, none of them know the reason why. And
- 12:35Speaker 1: then then I started getting the calls Michael, is somebody
- 12:41Speaker 1: going to take the job, And I'm like, I have
- 12:46Speaker 1: no idea, So don't ask me. He's already got a job.
- 12:49Speaker 1: Don't ask me if he's going to take this job.
- 12:52Speaker 1: So yeah, oh my phone blew up. Yet you're saying,
- 12:56Speaker 1: oh yeah, yeah, So I'm not even going to say
- 12:59Speaker 1: the name. It's not worth saying it. Yeah, but I don't.
- 13:03Speaker 1: I have no idea, and uh so I'm not I'm
- 13:07Speaker 1: not gonna say anything. I just uh but it would
- 13:10Speaker 1: be interesting. Man. You talk about heel, you talk about
- 13:14Speaker 1: playing heel right there, if somebody took the job back again.
- 13:18Speaker 2: I mean that that would provide us just a month
- 13:22Speaker 2: of electric radio.
- 13:23Speaker 1: Oh absolutely, And then guess what, then you have the
- 13:27Speaker 1: game in Lexington against that former team. That's gonna that
- 13:32Speaker 1: would be a lot of fun. But anyway, I have
- 13:34Speaker 1: no idea. But it's a shame. I'm sorry for Pat Pyonde.
- 13:38Speaker 1: Whatever the personal issue is. I hope everything is okay.
- 13:43Speaker 1: All joking aside. I hope it can be corrected. I
- 13:47Speaker 1: hope everything will be okay whatever the issue is. And
- 13:50Speaker 1: and uh, maybe you'll find your way back to Kentucky
- 13:54Speaker 1: one day. So is this devastating for Wilste? I know,
- 13:59Speaker 1: is this disappointing for will Stein? Absolutely? It makes this
- 14:03Speaker 1: job harder. Yeah, sure, yeah. And now you're getting ready
- 14:07Speaker 1: to start fall practice and now you got your GM exiting.
- 14:11Speaker 1: That makes it real difficult. Well, it makes it difficult.
- 14:13Speaker 1: I'm gonna see, it makes it real difficult. But it
- 14:15Speaker 1: does make it a little bit of a damper. I mean,
- 14:18Speaker 1: all the good stuff happening and then you get this. Yeah,
- 14:21Speaker 1: is it embarrassing? No, No, it's not embarrassing. You can't
- 14:25Speaker 1: help stuff like this. Whatever it is. But this is
- 14:28Speaker 1: not devastating news, Okay, but it's just a little on
- 14:32Speaker 1: the disappointing side.
- 14:33Speaker 2: Now, had this been a year from now and you
- 14:36Speaker 2: got great results from him and you could really see
- 14:39Speaker 2: what he has been able to do with the football program,
- 14:42Speaker 2: maybe you're disappointed. But yeah, I mean, but like I said,
- 14:45Speaker 2: it hasn't even been long enough, so I don't even
- 14:47Speaker 2: know what he has done.
- 14:48Speaker 1: Well, I mean he's he certainly has brought in some
- 14:50Speaker 1: of the players, made negotiations with him that have definitely succeeded.
- 14:56Speaker 1: So he's gotten things going on. I mean, the train's rolling,
- 15:00Speaker 1: just has it really necessarily left the station? Yeah? But
- 15:02Speaker 1: should he get all the credit for that? No? No, no, no,
- 15:05Speaker 1: I never said he should get all the credit for that.
- 15:07Speaker 1: I'm saying he should get a portion of the credit, though.
- 15:10Speaker 1: But no, the the train is started, it just has
- 15:14Speaker 1: not left the station. Okay, I'm not going to use
- 15:17Speaker 1: my analogy of blue collars and uh uh what was
- 15:22Speaker 1: I using yesterday in sandwiches or whatever it was? Somebody
- 15:25Speaker 1: was making fun of me online because I said eggs
- 15:27Speaker 1: and blue cars, eggs and blue car. I said blue cars.
- 15:31Speaker 1: They thought I said eggs and blue collars. And I
- 15:34Speaker 1: didn't say blue collars. No, that's just what the tech
- 15:37Speaker 1: like that. So that's like a texting thing where it
- 15:40Speaker 1: can figure out what it can what am I? What's
- 15:42Speaker 1: the word I'm looking for? It like translates what you're saying,
- 15:45Speaker 1: transcribes transcribes there. Yeah, And if you're having problems today,
- 15:49Speaker 1: my god, can I just say I'm tripping over all
- 15:51Speaker 1: my works? What's what's what's a little on the scary
- 15:54Speaker 1: side is justin Kaalin is starting to sound more and
- 15:57Speaker 1: more like Michael Bennett.
- 15:58Speaker 2: I will never sound like Michael Bennet because I will
- 16:00Speaker 2: always say names.
- 16:01Speaker 1: Right just now, don't give me a little bit of
- 16:06Speaker 1: a dirty look right there. I you know you hurt
- 16:09Speaker 1: my feelings yesterday. By the way, I want everyone to
- 16:12Speaker 1: know you hurt my feelings. I invited you to go
- 16:15Speaker 1: do something with me yesterday and you said lao or
- 16:21Speaker 1: la m o. That kind of hurt my feelings. You
- 16:24Speaker 1: want to tell the folks what you invited me? Yeah,
- 16:27Speaker 1: I thought it would be fun. And by the way,
- 16:30Speaker 1: I'm going to do that next Monday. So next Monday
- 16:33Speaker 1: in University Kentucky has their media Football Days here in
- 16:37Speaker 1: Lexington at the Football Stadium. I did it a few
- 16:40Speaker 1: years back where I did the show from the stadium
- 16:42Speaker 1: on the field, and UK has invited me to come
- 16:46Speaker 1: do that again. I thought it'd be fun. I asked
- 16:48Speaker 1: if you wanted to go. Your response was lmao, I'm good. Yeah, okay,
- 16:55Speaker 1: all right now.
- 16:56Speaker 2: I mean I've done I've done media football days before
- 16:59Speaker 2: up Indian. It's kind of boring, not necessarily boring, it's boring.
- 17:04Speaker 1: It's a long day, it is. I'm not gonna stay
- 17:07Speaker 1: for the whole thing. I'm just gonna go there, do
- 17:09Speaker 1: the show. Uh, listen to Will Stein speak, which I'll
- 17:12Speaker 1: probably miss the majority of it because he speaks at
- 17:14Speaker 1: nine thirty. It's like, well, thanks a lot. I'll be
- 17:17Speaker 1: in and out of here. But I thought i'd go there. Uh,
- 17:20Speaker 1: we're gonna have on a few people. Nick Rouse that
- 17:22Speaker 1: he'd come on for a little bit. Uh, Larry Vott
- 17:25Speaker 1: is gonna join us for a little bit, and John Wong.
- 17:28Speaker 1: So I promise we won't go John Wong long but uh,
- 17:31Speaker 1: but uh, it'll be fun to have those guys on here. Yeah.
- 17:35Speaker 1: So we're talking that Monday will be all football okay, yeah, yeah,
- 17:39Speaker 1: which should be. Yeah, so you'll just have to tell
- 17:42Speaker 1: me how I do this. So, uh but I'm looking
- 17:44Speaker 1: forward to that. So let's go ahead and take our
- 17:46Speaker 1: first break. Five O two three eight four fourteen fifty.
- 17:49Speaker 1: You want to call in five oh two four one
- 17:51Speaker 1: four fourteen fifty if you want to text in on
- 17:53Speaker 1: the Whiskey Thief text so I don't even tweet me
- 17:55Speaker 1: at just SCAT radio, or you can listen to us
- 17:57Speaker 1: and see Michael Bennett Justin Kaitlin on YouTube if you
- 18:01Speaker 1: go look up Big X Sports Radio Louisie and then
- 18:04Speaker 1: you'll see us right there and listen right there. So anyways,
- 18:06Speaker 1: stay right there a lot more. It's just the cats
- 18:08Speaker 1: coming right up after this, and he's, uh, J were
- 19:06Speaker 1: you much of a depeche Mode fans or do you
- 19:11Speaker 1: even know who they are? So funny story.
- 19:14Speaker 2: The song you sent me reminded me a lot of
- 19:17Speaker 2: some songs from Grand Theft Auto, so oh really.
- 19:20Speaker 1: I just went to they have no idea. I've never
- 19:22Speaker 1: played Grand Theft Auto.
- 19:24Speaker 2: So in my opinion, Grand Theft Auto San Andreas best
- 19:27Speaker 2: Grand Theft Auto ever made, had the at least had
- 19:29Speaker 2: the best soundtrack.
- 19:30Speaker 1: I have no idea what you're saying about But okay,
- 19:32Speaker 1: I went to.
- 19:33Speaker 2: The soundtrack of one of my favorite stations, plan all
- 19:36Speaker 2: songs from there.
- 19:37Speaker 1: Are you really? And depeche Mode comes up? Yeah, okay,
- 19:42Speaker 1: I look forward to mine because I the one, the
- 19:45Speaker 1: one I originally sent you you wouldn't play, which we
- 19:47Speaker 1: don't have to talk about. I get it. It's fine. Uh,
- 19:50Speaker 1: but then I send you in. I sent you another
- 19:53Speaker 1: this morning. It's the Cult. Who I like the Cult? Wow?
- 19:57Speaker 1: Spoiler alert, it's okay? Why which wrong with that? And
- 20:01Speaker 1: that she sells sanctuary? Why? What? Why does it really? Spoiler?
- 20:04Speaker 1: I don't care. Now everybody knows what to expect exactly. Well,
- 20:08Speaker 1: I'm looking forward to it. I mean, I don't tell that. Oh,
- 20:11Speaker 1: come on, it sticks up? All right? Fine? Then uh
- 20:13Speaker 1: I file two three eight four fourteen fifty. Want to
- 20:15Speaker 1: call fable two four one four fourteen fifty if you
- 20:18Speaker 1: want to text in on the whiskey te text line. Uh.
- 20:21Speaker 1: Let's get to a couple of the texts right here.
- 20:24Speaker 1: Shout out to Illinois and their Jersey logo deal with
- 20:28Speaker 1: a bucy bank. I really hope it's pronounced the way
- 20:33Speaker 1: everyone wants it to be. Well, what's the way you
- 20:37Speaker 1: want it to be. To me, it's spelled Bucy because
- 20:41Speaker 1: of Gary. That's exactly what I thought of, was Gary Bucy.
- 20:45Speaker 1: Weird guy. Come on, weird guy. I I all right?
- 20:50Speaker 1: Or do you pronounce it? Bussy? Might be bussy? Listen,
- 20:55Speaker 1: Gary Bucy. I think the most I think that the
- 21:00Speaker 1: most famous thing he did was not a movie. It's
- 21:04Speaker 1: the meme of him saying I like buttered sausage, meme, whatever,
- 21:08Speaker 1: it is, the meme and the meme of him saying
- 21:12Speaker 1: I like buttered sausage. Is that? Is that the first
- 21:15Speaker 1: thing you think of when you hear the name Gary Busey? No,
- 21:19Speaker 1: it is it? Really?
- 21:20Speaker 2: No, first thing I think of is just thatw weird
- 21:23Speaker 2: He looks, Oh, come on, I don't even know if
- 21:26Speaker 2: I've ever seen them.
- 21:28Speaker 1: Oh you haven't, Oh my gosh, man, Yeah you just say, yeah,
- 21:32Speaker 1: I like buttered sausage. Let's talk about buttered sausage. And
- 21:35Speaker 1: all right, what movie do you think of when you
- 21:38Speaker 1: think of Gary Busey, Because there's two that I think
- 21:41Speaker 1: of right off the bat. Not really, I don't. I'm
- 21:45Speaker 1: not really all that familiar with Gosh, really, you never
- 21:49Speaker 1: saw the movie The Firm with Tom Uh, okay, Tom Cruise,
- 21:53Speaker 1: no unbelievable movie. You should go watch that. Gary Busey
- 21:58Speaker 1: is in that place, plays a minor row, but it's
- 22:00Speaker 1: a significant role and he was fantastic at it. Uh.
- 22:04Speaker 1: The other one where I think he played himself was
- 22:08Speaker 1: Black Sheep. Was Chris Farley. You never saw a black Cheep.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Oh my gosh. He plays this weird guy living in
- 22:16Speaker 1: Camper former Vietnam VET and he's just acts weird. I truthfully,
- 22:22Speaker 1: I think he's playing himself. I'd be more app to
- 22:25Speaker 1: watch that one. You would be Black Sheep was good.
- 22:27Speaker 1: It's one of those dumb movies.
- 22:30Speaker 2: It's god Chris Farley, so it has to be Oh,
- 22:33Speaker 2: come on now, that's all he did was dumb movie.
- 22:35Speaker 1: They were You're not gonna You're gonna tell me Tommy
- 22:39Speaker 1: Boy was dumb. The way he acts and his character
- 22:43Speaker 1: in it. Absolutely Tommy Boy is an iconic movie.
- 22:46Speaker 2: I don't disagree with you, okay, but the way that
- 22:49Speaker 2: Chris Farley acts and every single role.
- 22:52Speaker 1: Was the exact same. Okay, all right, then there he's
- 22:54Speaker 1: got a big goofy guy. Well. I like Gary Busey.
- 22:58Speaker 1: He was in Rookie of the Year. You saw that
- 22:59Speaker 1: one the Baseball movie. That was good. He was good
- 23:02Speaker 1: in that, but he was acting in that movie. I mean,
- 23:05Speaker 1: that wasn't himself unlike Black Sheep, I like Gary Busey.
- 23:09Speaker 1: So I'm gonna say it's Bucy Bank for Illinois.
- 23:13Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what I went with as well. If it's Bussy,
- 23:16Speaker 2: let us know because I'm curious. Yeah, I mister Illinois,
- 23:19Speaker 2: please let us know. I have no idea, but I'd
- 23:22Speaker 2: like to know if it's Bussy or Bucy.
- 23:25Speaker 1: I don't know. You think so you were asking me
- 23:28Speaker 1: that question about UK, would it be Central Bank? That
- 23:33Speaker 1: would be the obvious answer for them to sponsor. That's yeah, absolutely, yeah.
- 23:41Speaker 1: And you said Indiana, and I agreed with that because
- 23:44Speaker 1: that's probably the largest employer in Indiana, Eli Lilly, which
- 23:50Speaker 1: is based right there in Indianapolis. You always see the
- 23:53Speaker 1: Eli Lilly or the Lily building when you're coming into
- 23:56Speaker 1: downtown U of L. I don't I actually want kill
- 24:00Speaker 1: Royce for Indiana. What's kill Roy's bar?
- 24:04Speaker 2: Oh, there's a couple of them in Bloomington, and I
- 24:07Speaker 2: think there's one up in India as well. So they're
- 24:09Speaker 2: they're starting to branch out. So but they couldn't afford.
- 24:12Speaker 2: A few years back, I would have said uf L
- 24:17Speaker 2: would have been Papa John's, but now no, it won't
- 24:21Speaker 2: be Young.
- 24:23Speaker 1: I don't know. I mean, every major corporation has literally
- 24:27Speaker 1: moved out of the Louisville, but by UPS. That was
- 24:29Speaker 1: my thing. But UPS is not based in Louisville. It's
- 24:33Speaker 1: based in Atlanta, Georgia, even though they have a large
- 24:38Speaker 1: hub here in town. And I don't I don't know
- 24:40Speaker 1: if a lot of people would like it with what's
- 24:42Speaker 1: happened between UPS after the plane crash and them not
- 24:45Speaker 1: supporting the business people are in town.
- 24:47Speaker 2: Can we stop acting like UPS did that on purpose?
- 24:51Speaker 2: Of course they didn't do it all I know, but everybody,
- 24:53Speaker 2: but do what's right and go take care of the people.
- 24:55Speaker 2: You've ruined their lives. Everybody just comes out comes at
- 24:59Speaker 2: UPS like they they intentionally did that.
- 25:01Speaker 1: But the problem, though, just they're not doing anything and
- 25:06Speaker 1: not holding up to their responsibility. That's the problem. And
- 25:10Speaker 1: they continue to act like, oh, we're going to do something,
- 25:13Speaker 1: and they do nothing. And I know this for a
- 25:15Speaker 1: fact because of my good friend that used to own
- 25:18Speaker 1: a bar. They're called stooges. They have done absolutely nothing
- 25:21Speaker 1: don't get me started on that. So but anyway, one
- 25:25Speaker 1: person said, Okay, Michael exotic, Listen, you have to know
- 25:31Speaker 1: more than a way than more than one way to travel.
- 25:36Speaker 1: The number of times I have talked to people that
- 25:39Speaker 1: tell me, uh, this is the only way they know
- 25:42Speaker 1: to get home when the road is closed. As grazy
- 25:47Speaker 1: I sixty five not being open was the longest night
- 25:51Speaker 1: in Andy's Wife. Wait, my bad, I'm being told that
- 25:57Speaker 1: was for Andy to freeze, not not Andy. That's an iconic,
- 26:08Speaker 1: iconic text right there. Thank you so much. Oh my gosh. Yeah,
- 26:14Speaker 1: if you don't know who Andy Dufrayne is, and I
- 26:17Speaker 1: said to freeze, but Andy dufrain That was in Shawshank Redemption,
- 26:21Speaker 1: which was on TV last night. Yeah, oh that's a great. Oh,
- 26:25Speaker 1: but that's one of those movies you can't watch on TV.
- 26:28Speaker 1: Why do you say that because you know all the time.
- 26:30Speaker 2: Yeah, but you don't get like all the cussing and stuff.
- 26:33Speaker 2: I hate watching movies like that on TV because you
- 26:36Speaker 2: get a lot of stuff bleeped out.
- 26:38Speaker 1: But there are a couple of channels that don't delete
- 26:41Speaker 1: the cussing. And I've never understood that this is on
- 26:44Speaker 1: regular TV. Yeah, you're right, and so why are they
- 26:48Speaker 1: getting away with letting the words come across? But then
- 26:51Speaker 1: you watch the NBC, the CBS, ABC, Fox and they
- 26:56Speaker 1: bleep them out. What's the difference. What's Like?
- 26:59Speaker 2: I was watching McAfee the other day because Kurt Signetty
- 27:02Speaker 2: was on it. McAfee's dropping s bombs and I mean,
- 27:07Speaker 2: you're cussing left and right. I'm like, how is this possible?
- 27:09Speaker 1: Is he doing it to sound cool? Though? No, I
- 27:12Speaker 1: mean that's just how he talks. Okay. Now, I don't
- 27:15Speaker 1: think he like went out of his way to throw
- 27:17Speaker 1: a cussword. There's a lot more people out there that
- 27:20Speaker 1: dislike Pat McAfee than I ever thought there were, because
- 27:24Speaker 1: with this whole ESPN and letting go, a lot of people, man,
- 27:28Speaker 1: I mean people were after him. I was surprised.
- 27:30Speaker 2: I really thought I was a good portion of the
- 27:33Speaker 2: majority minority that did not care for him. Now he
- 27:36Speaker 2: got a lot of heat because he posted a statement
- 27:38Speaker 2: about it. He did so it bothered him. Oh yeah, absolutely,
- 27:42Speaker 2: and it should have it. It's like that told you
- 27:45Speaker 2: when we were talking about it, like it's not fair
- 27:47Speaker 2: for him to get heat that everybody's getting fired, Like
- 27:50Speaker 2: it's not his fault, but everybody acts like it was.
- 27:53Speaker 1: Though.
- 27:53Speaker 2: He had to put out a statement basically saying, hey,
- 27:56Speaker 2: chill like that. This isn't what I wanted either.
- 28:00Speaker 1: Yeah, well it's a shame. But anyway, one person said,
- 28:05Speaker 1: give Pete Knock to the job and offer it to
- 28:08Speaker 1: Vince as well. Yeah, I don't know that. We'll just
- 28:17Speaker 1: have to see what happens. I mean, the season is
- 28:19Speaker 1: getting ready to start. What the general manager is responsible
- 28:24Speaker 1: with really doesn't affect the season right now. I mean,
- 28:27Speaker 1: it's not like we need to urgently hire somebody right now,
- 28:31Speaker 1: do we. I don't know.
- 28:34Speaker 2: I wouldn't think so. I mean, you haven't how many
- 28:37Speaker 2: years did you go without a GM? Oh that's right,
- 28:39Speaker 2: the whole of Kentucky football history exactly. But that's but
- 28:43Speaker 2: before you started paying players legitimately. Now I think it's
- 28:49Speaker 2: become a full time job. And you know, Vince is
- 28:51Speaker 2: one of the top paid gms in the country. He's
- 28:55Speaker 2: one of the top four or five. I think you
- 28:58Speaker 2: have out paid him a lot of money. The largest,
- 29:01Speaker 2: of course, the guy over at North Carolina, which has
- 29:04Speaker 2: been just an absolute, absolute debacle.
- 29:06Speaker 1: Or is he yeah, does he still have a job? Yeah, well, yeah,
- 29:10Speaker 1: exactly what A buzz texted in said, Gary Busey got
- 29:14Speaker 1: an Academy Award nomination for the Buddy Holly Story. I got. Okay,
- 29:21Speaker 1: when did the Buddy Holly Story come out? I mean,
- 29:25Speaker 1: that's gotta be a long time ago, all right, all right,
- 29:29Speaker 1: it says right here, Buddy Holly nineteen seventy eight, you
- 29:34Speaker 1: weren't born and I was a kid. I'm thinking I
- 29:37Speaker 1: was eleven ten something. I was eleven, So yeah, sorry,
- 29:43Speaker 1: I didn't know he was on the Buddy Holly Story.
- 29:46Speaker 1: So evidently he did a pretty good job with that.
- 29:48Speaker 1: One person said, have to agree with Scoots. Gary is
- 29:54Speaker 1: a scary man, and how can someone hate buttered sausage. Unfortunately,
- 29:59Speaker 1: after a quick video search, the bank is named like
- 30:03Speaker 1: the actor. There you go. So for once, Michael Bennett
- 30:08Speaker 1: said a name correctly. Yeah, I'm I'm in utter shock
- 30:14Speaker 1: right there. Okay. By the way, Buzz texted and says
- 30:17Speaker 1: Texas Roadhouse would be a good one for U of L. Yeah,
- 30:20Speaker 1: that'd be pretty good. Yeah in Louisville. Yeah, but it
- 30:24Speaker 1: started in southern Indiana? Did it really come on? Now? Wait?
- 30:28Speaker 1: Wait wait wait wait wait in Okay, maybe this one
- 30:32Speaker 1: was in Green Tree Mall. That's Louisville, don't. That's Louisville.
- 30:36Speaker 1: That is a suburb of Louisville. Absolutely not. We got
- 30:41Speaker 1: an argument, we got a whole river.
- 30:42Speaker 2: And another city that's in between them. Absolutely not. I
- 30:46Speaker 2: just know it's not Louisville. Okay, all right, then, well.
- 30:50Speaker 1: I want to call it a Kentucky and company. No, no, listen,
- 30:55Speaker 1: If that's the way you're going to act, I want
- 30:58Speaker 1: to just credit and I don't want anything Southern Indiana,
- 31:01Speaker 1: and I want every local news station to stop reporting
- 31:05Speaker 1: about your little area of southern Indiana. You know what,
- 31:08Speaker 1: Let Indianapolis talk about it. Louisville, Kentucky. We're sticking to
- 31:12Speaker 1: Kentucky News and the heck with a little Southern Indiana crap.
- 31:16Speaker 1: I'm out on this deal because indian news sucks. Oh
- 31:19Speaker 1: it does. Oh it's horrible.
- 31:20Speaker 2: And you think Louisville's is much better. I like Louisville News,
- 31:23Speaker 2: do you, Yeah? Mostly I like some of them, watch
- 31:26Speaker 2: it a whole lot.
- 31:27Speaker 1: But some of them I like. But there are there
- 31:29Speaker 1: are a couple of meteorologists that drive me up the wall.
- 31:33Speaker 1: I'm not gonna say I dislike them, but thinking on
- 31:35Speaker 1: my nerves. And then there are the newscasters that really
- 31:38Speaker 1: and then there are the sports newscasters that get real.
- 31:42Speaker 1: There's one that really gets on my nerves. I don't
- 31:45Speaker 1: dislike him, but he dislikes me. I can tell you that.
- 31:49Speaker 1: It's just like, wow, man, I'm just I might be
- 31:52Speaker 1: a little outspoken every now and then, but uh, I
- 31:55Speaker 1: need to stop that. Uh. Mark Pope is considering making
- 31:58Speaker 1: an international high are he that? Yesterday on an interview
- 32:02Speaker 1: of somebody You and I know that we don't want
- 32:05Speaker 1: to ever mention again. So he was on his show
- 32:07Speaker 1: yesterday over in Lexington, and so he mentioned that he
- 32:12Speaker 1: has already met with a high profile international option. How
- 32:18Speaker 1: do you like that, Mark Pope? This is what I
- 32:21Speaker 1: like and this I'm gonna give Mark Pope all the
- 32:24Speaker 1: credit in the world for this, because I think this
- 32:26Speaker 1: is brilliant. This is where the brilliance of Mark Pope
- 32:30Speaker 1: is not credited enough. This is called thinking outside the
- 32:36Speaker 1: box because right now, you know, it stands that the
- 32:38Speaker 1: NCAA is not doing anything about the euro League players.
- 32:42Speaker 1: And if if they do nothing about it, why not
- 32:46Speaker 1: go the LSU route what they've done down there? You know,
- 32:50Speaker 1: all they've done, is gone and hired. For the most part,
- 32:53Speaker 1: euro players come play down there. I think Mark Pope
- 32:57Speaker 1: is onto something. If the NC double does nothing, he
- 33:01Speaker 1: should hire somebody, an assistant coach that is an international hire.
- 33:08Speaker 1: What do you think of this?
- 33:09Speaker 2: Justin I mean, if it's if that's a route that
- 33:12Speaker 2: you're going to continue to try and take and get
- 33:15Speaker 2: those international guys, then geat it seems like a great
- 33:18Speaker 2: idea now if it because I don't I don't see
- 33:22Speaker 2: Mark Pope ever going out and getting three four five
- 33:26Speaker 2: foreign guys like you saw with Louisville last year.
- 33:28Speaker 1: I don't like Illinois Illinois and like LSU's doing this.
- 33:33Speaker 2: I don't ever see Mark Pope going that route because
- 33:35Speaker 2: it's it's Kentucky and he doesn't have to go that route.
- 33:38Speaker 2: But if you're going to bring in one or two
- 33:41Speaker 2: a year and you can hire a guy that's got
- 33:43Speaker 2: a good relationship with a bunch of overseas guys and
- 33:46Speaker 2: agents and coaches and all that, then yeah, why not.
- 33:49Speaker 1: I've got no problem with it. I don't have any
- 33:51Speaker 1: problem with it. If it's not against the rules, then
- 33:55Speaker 1: why not do it? And it helps your team, It
- 33:59Speaker 1: helps you look better, and I'm all for it. I
- 34:02Speaker 1: think this is something that UK could really do well
- 34:07Speaker 1: succeed at. You get players going. I mean, look at
- 34:09Speaker 1: Mom Chilovich and and he's going to be in a
- 34:12Speaker 1: complete asset for you. I mean you look at LSU now.
- 34:16Speaker 1: Will Wade has gotten one, two, three for five players
- 34:22Speaker 1: international players to come play at LSU this coming season.
- 34:26Speaker 1: That's just that's wild. If they don't pan out. Though
- 34:31Speaker 1: I didn't say it's good. I just said that's wild.
- 34:33Speaker 1: That's just that is unusual. Will Wade has gone way,
- 34:38Speaker 1: Will Wade did something unusual. Well, that exactly. I'm right
- 34:42Speaker 1: there with you. And Will Wade is always going to
- 34:46Speaker 1: the edge, and I tend to think he tends to
- 34:48Speaker 1: go over the edge a little bit. But this is
- 34:51Speaker 1: so LSU is not funny. They hire Will Wade to
- 34:55Speaker 1: come down there, and look what he's doing for basketball.
- 34:57Speaker 1: They are Lane Kiffen, and you know he's a little
- 35:01Speaker 1: questionable as well. LSU's doing some crazy things down there,
- 35:06Speaker 1: and they're they are so desperate to win a championship
- 35:10Speaker 1: at something and they're not even good at baseball anymore.
- 35:14Speaker 1: Basketball is gonna be awful. You think it's not going
- 35:16Speaker 1: to pan out. I don't think not this year anyways.
- 35:19Speaker 2: Really, I don't know. I'm not answer that yet. I'm
- 35:23Speaker 2: not convinced that football is even gonna be good. I
- 35:25Speaker 2: know they've gone now, I think you're talking crazy. I
- 35:27Speaker 2: know they've gotten a lot of hype in this offseason,
- 35:30Speaker 2: but I'm not I'm not convinced they'll be all.
- 35:31Speaker 1: But Lane Kiffen is a really good coach. Much as
- 35:35Speaker 1: no one likes him out there except for Lane Kiffin,
- 35:38Speaker 1: he's a really good coach. You can't deny that. He's
- 35:42Speaker 1: no Kurt Signetty baby, Oh Jesus who we're just right
- 35:46Speaker 1: with that. I gotta take a break to settle myself
- 35:48Speaker 1: down after that. Five O two three four fourteen fifty
- 35:51Speaker 1: five O two four one four fourteen fifty on the
- 35:53Speaker 1: Whiskey feed text line, stay right there where I can
- 36:20Speaker 1: easily understand, all right, one person texted in five O
- 36:45Speaker 1: two four one fourteen fifty one, and what text me
- 36:48Speaker 1: on the Whiskey teed text line when a whole river
- 36:50Speaker 1: is in between? Louisville can't claim it, sorry, Michael. Besides,
- 36:54Speaker 1: Longhorn is better. Have you stopped? Have you tried their
- 36:58Speaker 1: French onion soup, chef's kiss.
- 37:01Speaker 2: The only thing there that I would prefer over Texas Roadhouse.
- 37:06Speaker 2: They have these stuffed mushrooms.
- 37:08Speaker 1: Yeah. Ohble see. I'm with this texter, even though he's
- 37:13Speaker 1: wrong about the whole Louisville thing. Louisville does claim Southern
- 37:17Speaker 1: Indiana is a part of its suburb. But I'm all long.
- 37:21Speaker 1: I'm team Longhorn. We are they based out of I
- 37:24Speaker 1: have no idea. That's a good question. Look that up
- 37:26Speaker 1: because Texas Roadhouse. My problem with Texas Roadhouse, uh is
- 37:31Speaker 1: it's too loud, especially when they start doing the whole
- 37:35Speaker 1: I gotta dance in the middle and sing a song.
- 37:37Speaker 1: It's just like, we don't need that. I want to
- 37:40Speaker 1: just eat my steak, talk for a little bit to
- 37:43Speaker 1: whomever I'm with, and I'm want to get out of there,
- 37:45Speaker 1: all right. I'm definitely out on Longhorn. Now. Oh where
- 37:47Speaker 1: is it? Uh? Orlando? Oh yeah, I get that come out. Yeah,
- 37:53Speaker 1: that makes two of us right there. That's the other problem.
- 37:56Speaker 1: Why can't it be Texas road although the first one
- 37:59Speaker 1: was in Atlanta headquarters? Just just now? And why can't
- 38:03Speaker 1: it be called Kentucky Roadhouse. I don't understand it's based
- 38:07Speaker 1: in Louisville, Kentucky, and they named it a different state.
- 38:11Speaker 2: But did you know that at least now Texas has
- 38:15Speaker 2: more of them than any other state. Really, No, that's crazy.
- 38:20Speaker 2: They're up to eighty three and for the longest time
- 38:22Speaker 2: they didn't have one.
- 38:23Speaker 1: Well they do interesting, Okay, Well they do have that
- 38:25Speaker 1: other restaurant over there in Jeffersonville that they started. They've
- 38:29Speaker 1: got two other restaurants they've start and I'll give them
- 38:31Speaker 1: a free plug. I don't care. Bubba something. Have you
- 38:34Speaker 1: been there? Yeah? Oh yeah, really good? And then of
- 38:39Speaker 1: course they have that drive through that's so good.
- 38:41Speaker 2: That Bubba's is actually the reason only reason that I
- 38:44Speaker 2: know the prohibition date, because they have it right there
- 38:47Speaker 2: on the wall that I'll look at every time i'm
- 38:49Speaker 2: in there. Oh really, December fifth, nineteen thirty three.
- 38:53Speaker 1: Huh. All right, what's the name of the other place
- 38:57Speaker 1: that they've started. Now, there's one over here off brick
- 38:59Speaker 1: and Ridge on DuPont Circle. It's it's a it's it.
- 39:05Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell you right now. It has the best
- 39:08Speaker 1: chicken sandwich, fried chicken sandwich. Oh, you're talking Jaggers. Jaggers,
- 39:12Speaker 1: that's it. Bar none. It's and their French fries are phenomenal.
- 39:16Speaker 2: That's one place I've never been. Everybody hypes up jaggers.
- 39:21Speaker 2: Why don't you go I've never been.
- 39:23Speaker 1: I just I'm never I don't feel like I'm ever
- 39:25Speaker 1: buy one you and I don't want to go out
- 39:26Speaker 1: of my way to one. You do not know what
- 39:28Speaker 1: you're missing, So just to let you know. Uh, but yeah,
- 39:33Speaker 1: I look forward. I look forward. In fact, I might
- 39:36Speaker 1: go there. No, No, I got left over, so I'll
- 39:38Speaker 1: go there. Notre Dame, like you know, we broke the
- 39:40Speaker 1: news yesterday with Ohio State in the patch. Notre Dame
- 39:44Speaker 1: now has a patch deal and it's it's groundbreaking. It's
- 39:51Speaker 1: it's history in the making right here because of the
- 39:53Speaker 1: fact of how much it's worth. If you haven't seen
- 39:55Speaker 1: it yet, they just reached a deal with so far
- 40:00Speaker 1: they're a software company, is that right? No, based out
- 40:03Speaker 1: of I believe southern California. But they they got a
- 40:07Speaker 1: deal worth eighteen to twenty million dollars per year. That's crazy.
- 40:13Speaker 1: That is crazy. I think's biggest waste of money in
- 40:16Speaker 1: the world. You went with the wrong team because that
- 40:19Speaker 1: is the most overrated, overpriced team in the world that
- 40:24Speaker 1: will never get to a college champion hip. They'll be
- 40:27Speaker 1: in the playoffs every year because you know they cried
- 40:30Speaker 1: about it last year. But which which is? Which is
- 40:33Speaker 1: an absolute farce? Greg Sanky and the commissioner of Big
- 40:38Speaker 1: Ten need to say not, we're not doing this. We're
- 40:42Speaker 1: not allowing Notre Dame to get into the playoffs just
- 40:46Speaker 1: because of where they're over ranking. Is because they're over
- 40:50Speaker 1: ranked every year because they play a light schedule. You know,
- 40:53Speaker 1: they were in the championship like two years ago, right
- 40:55Speaker 1: and it wasn't deserved. They play the lightest schedule in
- 40:59Speaker 1: the country. Tell me they don't. I mean, don't take
- 41:05Speaker 1: a sip of water. And I don't know what I
- 41:06Speaker 1: want to answer. I don't know what you want me
- 41:08Speaker 1: to say. Here.
- 41:09Speaker 2: I want you to say, Michael ben At, You're a
- 41:10Speaker 2: thousand percent right, because I'm right. I'm never gonna do that,
- 41:13Speaker 2: even if it's true, even if it's true, is exactly right.
- 41:17Speaker 1: You will never agree with me on that. But Notre
- 41:20Speaker 1: Dame is. I mean, I probably loathe Notre Dame more
- 41:23Speaker 1: than you loathe Perdue. Just to let you know you
- 41:26Speaker 1: know Notre Dame more than I loathe anything you think. So, yeah,
- 41:30Speaker 1: Notre Dame is so overrated. I just I get sick
- 41:33Speaker 1: and tired of them getting special treatment. They get their
- 41:36Speaker 1: little TV contract, then you get to play them play
- 41:40Speaker 1: a pop team that's probably eleven twelve year old, and
- 41:46Speaker 1: it's just like, who wants to watch that? I don't
- 41:49Speaker 1: for the like me, I don't get it. I had
- 41:51Speaker 1: a client, a foot doctor here in town that went
- 41:54Speaker 1: to Notre Dame. Oh my gosh, and I had to
- 41:57Speaker 1: work with him, and all he did was talk Notre Dame.
- 42:00Speaker 1: You know I went to Notre Dame. Oh oh yes, cool,
- 42:02Speaker 1: I do. Doctor. They're going to be a great football
- 42:05Speaker 1: team this year. It's like, nah, please stop. And it's
- 42:08Speaker 1: not you, John Horlander. I'm not talking about you, John Horlander,
- 42:12Speaker 1: even though you're my other buddy that I love dearly.
- 42:15Speaker 1: That's a big Notre Dame thing because you went to
- 42:17Speaker 1: Notre Dame. But anyway, but yeah, this is somebody else.
- 42:21Speaker 1: And I won't mention his name because it just it
- 42:24Speaker 1: drove me up the wall. All you wanted to do
- 42:25Speaker 1: was talk about the entire surgery, every surgery I was
- 42:28Speaker 1: in with him. Let's talk to Notre Dame football and
- 42:30Speaker 1: it's like, oh my gosh, man, it's the last thing
- 42:33Speaker 1: I want to talk about. Well, you'll be happy to
- 42:34Speaker 1: know that Notre Dame will be back in the playoffs
- 42:36Speaker 1: this year because of their light schedule. Yeah, it's not good. No,
- 42:40Speaker 1: all right, go through it right now.
- 42:42Speaker 2: You get Wisconsin at home. That's a pretty good game,
- 42:46Speaker 2: but that's at home. You get Rice at home. Oh,
- 42:49Speaker 2: tough game.
- 42:50Speaker 1: Michigan State at home. Tough game for you know. Then
- 42:53Speaker 1: you gotta go on the road. This will be really hard.
- 42:55Speaker 2: They got to play Perdue, who's projected to finish or
- 42:58Speaker 2: who's projected to finish eighteenth out of eighteen and ridiculous.
- 43:02Speaker 2: Then you're on the road at UNC that's five, and oh,
- 43:05Speaker 2: that'll be a win. Then you host Stanford six, and oh,
- 43:09Speaker 2: on the road at BYU seven and oh, on the
- 43:12Speaker 2: road at Navy eight and oh, you host Miami. I
- 43:16Speaker 2: think that'll probably be a loss nine and oh, oh
- 43:19Speaker 2: you're going nine and oh okay. Then you host Boston
- 43:21Speaker 2: College ten and oh. Then you host SMU eleven and
- 43:26Speaker 2: oh and you're on the road at Syracuse twelve and
- 43:29Speaker 2: oh they're going to go undefeated this year. I'm with you,
- 43:32Speaker 2: Miami might be a tough game, but it's at home.
- 43:34Speaker 2: I think that SMU will be kind of a good game,
- 43:36Speaker 2: but it's going to be a win because it's at home.
- 43:39Speaker 2: This is a joke of a schedule. Please tell me
- 43:43Speaker 2: I'm wrong about this. Now that's where am I wrong?
- 43:45Speaker 2: That's pretty bad, I know. But anyway, why I've woken
- 43:50Speaker 2: up the text line? Okay, so sorry about that, but.
- 43:56Speaker 1: All right? Should I get to it now? I mean, well,
- 44:00Speaker 1: Butter Bennett's showing his Cinnamon Butter hate this morning. Well,
- 44:04Speaker 1: every time I go to Kentucky Roadhouse, because I'm gonna
- 44:08Speaker 1: I am now going to refuse to say the name
- 44:11Speaker 1: by what it is that should be Kentucky Roadhouse, I
- 44:14Speaker 1: never get to Cinnamon Butter. And you know this, I can't.
- 44:18Speaker 1: I think it's discussing I don't like cinnamon. Garrett Busey
- 44:21Speaker 1: cracked his skull in a motorcycle accident, which might explain
- 44:25Speaker 1: some things. Is that true? Is this true? He was
- 44:33Speaker 1: the villain and lethal weapon. I don't remember that. Kroger
- 44:37Speaker 1: has to be the patch for UK. Oh. Please know
- 44:41Speaker 1: they can bring the mascots out in large shopping cart. Oh,
- 44:45Speaker 1: that would be terrible. No, We're not doing that, thank you, Texter. Yes,
- 44:50Speaker 1: we got the jaggers. Yes, isn't Kroger Cincinnati thing? Kroger
- 44:55Speaker 1: is based in Cincinnati. H. He can't do that. I'm
- 44:58Speaker 1: not a Kroger fan. I'm not Let's go Crowgreen. Okay,
- 45:02Speaker 1: I don't do that. I'm gonna let's go public scene
- 45:05Speaker 1: and get there whatever sandwich. I am.
- 45:11Speaker 2: Oh careful now, how you say that? I said it
- 45:14Speaker 2: how I wanted to say, Oh wow, okay, there we go.
- 45:18Speaker 1: Thank you. Someone just gave me large font of jaggers.
- 45:21Speaker 1: I get it. I appreciate that. That was Josh, wasn't it? Yeah?
- 45:25Speaker 1: But thank you Josh. One person So Josh, I no,
- 45:30Speaker 1: I mean, I guess he's mad because he's not on
- 45:31Speaker 1: vacation anymore. Uh. My guess is that Southern Indiana is
- 45:37Speaker 1: not really known for their steaks like Texas, mainly fried
- 45:41Speaker 1: pork chop sandwiches the size of Carabeus's teeth. I can
- 45:47Speaker 1: go through with her best fried pork chop sandwiches, tenderloins.
- 45:52Speaker 1: Oh my gosh. Yes, that's that's one thing I definitely
- 45:55Speaker 1: go nuts for. But anyway, Zach said, Uncle Eddie's said,
- 46:00Speaker 1: notre dame can suck it.
- 46:01Speaker 2: That's right, Uncle Eddie. Tell them it was uncle Eddie's uncle.
- 46:05Speaker 2: Eddie's a loyal listener. List Is this really your uncle? Yeah,
- 46:10Speaker 2: it's the brother of my dad's wife. The Oh my gosh,
- 46:14Speaker 2: my dad's wife's brother.
- 46:15Speaker 1: No, no, no, don't say it. You're the brother of
- 46:18Speaker 1: your dad's wife. So your dad's brother in law. Correct. Okay,
- 46:23Speaker 1: I don't know why you just wouldn't say that. I
- 46:25Speaker 1: don't know why, but exactly that just made it so
- 46:28Speaker 1: much more hard for me to understand my dad's wife's brother,
- 46:32Speaker 1: husband's uncle's married brother. Why do you say that? I'm struggling, Okay,
- 46:38Speaker 1: all right, yeah you really are, and you're struggling for
- 46:40Speaker 1: me to stop. So anyway, we gotta take a break.
- 46:42Speaker 1: Hour two coming right up. I hope your dad's brother's
- 46:45Speaker 1: uncle Eddie comes back and talk to us. Stay right there.
- 46:48Speaker 1: More just a test. Welcome to Just the Cats with
- 47:06Speaker 1: Michael Bennett. All right on now we're number two on
- 47:13Speaker 1: this Wednesday. If everybody wants to join us, I dare
- 47:18Speaker 1: you at one time call us at five O two
- 47:19Speaker 1: three and four fourteen fifty or text me on the
- 47:21Speaker 1: whiskey Thief text line five O two four one four
- 47:24Speaker 1: fourteen fifty. Uh, if you want to do that. You know,
- 47:27Speaker 1: there's a lot of talk about the whole NCAA staying
- 47:32Speaker 1: in place or the bill that they're trying to introduce
- 47:37Speaker 1: and the government getting involved. Now they're trying to put
- 47:40Speaker 1: into the bill that if a school does leave a conference,
- 47:49Speaker 1: they have to be independent of any conference for five years.
- 47:57Speaker 1: Do you like that idea before where they can join
- 48:01Speaker 1: another conference? I don't know.
- 48:06Speaker 2: So I would think in that regard that that would
- 48:10Speaker 2: probably be the downfall to their sports programs because it's
- 48:14Speaker 2: gonna be You're gonna lose a lot of money. Number one,
- 48:17Speaker 2: You're gonna lose a lot of money. Scheduling is going
- 48:19Speaker 2: to be an absolute nightmare. I mean, look at like
- 48:24Speaker 2: we just went through Notre Dame schedule. They're playing Rice,
- 48:27Speaker 2: for crying out loud like that. That's a product of
- 48:29Speaker 2: being independent. Yes, you've got to play schools like Rice.
- 48:34Speaker 2: I mean, so I just and think about all the
- 48:36Speaker 2: smaller school or sports. Say, let's just pretend Kentucky leaves
- 48:41Speaker 2: the SEC and has to go independent for five years.
- 48:43Speaker 2: What happens to softball? What happens the baseball what happens soccer, soccer, golf,
- 48:48Speaker 2: I mean, all the sports are going to be so
- 48:52Speaker 2: so hard to schedule for, so I I mean, I
- 48:56Speaker 2: get what they're trying to do here at like making
- 48:58Speaker 2: a punishment where schools don't want to leave conferences, because
- 49:02Speaker 2: that's that makes for a bad product.
- 49:04Speaker 1: It does.
- 49:04Speaker 2: NCAA wants things to be as uniform as possible for
- 49:08Speaker 2: as many years as possible.
- 49:09Speaker 1: Because who is the conference most likely to implode next?
- 49:15Speaker 1: I would say the PAC twelve Again, the PAC twelve.
- 49:18Speaker 1: I'm going to go out there, and I don't think
- 49:21Speaker 1: I'm going on a limb by seeing the ACC. ACC. Yeah,
- 49:24Speaker 1: I think that. And who are the teams that are
- 49:27Speaker 1: going to be those teams that leave the ACC?
- 49:31Speaker 2: Florida State and Clemson. I think you're leaving out another
- 49:35Speaker 2: big one though, and they've been very open about this.
- 49:39Speaker 2: You're right about Florida State. Miami is falling right behind them.
- 49:45Speaker 2: But I think the other team you're forgetting is North Carolina.
- 49:48Speaker 2: North Carolina has been very vocal about wanting to leave
- 49:51Speaker 2: the ACC. And I look at the two teams that
- 49:56Speaker 2: most likely would leave the ACC and join the SEC.
- 50:01Speaker 1: Are these two teams? North Carolina and Duke. I don't
- 50:08Speaker 1: see Florida State. I don't see Duke. Let me finish,
- 50:12Speaker 1: I don't see Florida State, and I don't see Miami
- 50:17Speaker 1: coming to the SEC because of the fact that you
- 50:22Speaker 1: got a blue blood already in Florida. You got Florida,
- 50:26Speaker 1: the University of Florida. You don't want the University of
- 50:28Speaker 1: Florida leave in the SEC. The reason I say Duke,
- 50:31Speaker 1: and then I'll let you talk. Justin the reason I
- 50:34Speaker 1: say Duke is because whatever North Carolina does, I think
- 50:38Speaker 1: Duke wants to follow them. They want to keep that
- 50:40Speaker 1: rivalry up. As one goes, the other one goes. If
- 50:44Speaker 1: Duke wants to leave, I think North Carolina would follow.
- 50:47Speaker 1: Tell me why you don't think Duke would go. I
- 50:50Speaker 1: firmly believe that. I just don't think Duke and North
- 50:54Speaker 1: Carolina are as lockstep as you make it. See, I
- 50:58Speaker 1: don't think what one the others automatically. Oh, I do,
- 51:02Speaker 1: just just because of the rivalry. I started believe they
- 51:05Speaker 1: are separated by what five miles I think. I really
- 51:09Speaker 1: think that if that rivalry will still always be there
- 51:14Speaker 1: regardless of if they're in different conferences or not. They
- 51:17Speaker 1: they wouldn't get to play twice a year. They'd only
- 51:19Speaker 1: had to play once. And god, could you imagine ESPN
- 51:22Speaker 1: if they were only playing once a year as opposed
- 51:24Speaker 1: to twice. Yeah, well, if they did come over to
- 51:27Speaker 1: the SEC, you gotta believe Greg Sanky's gonna say, well,
- 51:30Speaker 1: these two teams gotta play twice a year. It's like, okay,
- 51:32Speaker 1: we get it. Even the love fest continues for these
- 51:36Speaker 1: two schools when it comes to basketball. We don't care
- 51:38Speaker 1: about them in football, but we certainly care about them
- 51:41Speaker 1: only in men's basketball. But no, I firmly believe, and
- 51:45Speaker 1: this is not an exaggeration, This is not Michael Bennett
- 51:48Speaker 1: trying to stir up some kind of conversation here. I
- 51:51Speaker 1: firmly believe North Carolina and Duke will be in the
- 51:54Speaker 1: SEC sooner than later. How many years? You know, I
- 51:59Speaker 1: was afraid you're going to ask that question, and I
- 52:04Speaker 1: really I look at it and I say, I wouldn't
- 52:07Speaker 1: be surprised that if it happened within the next five years.
- 52:10Speaker 1: I wouldn't be surprised if it took a little longer.
- 52:12Speaker 1: And I would definitely say within the next ten years,
- 52:15Speaker 1: those two teams will be a part of the Southeastern Conference.
- 52:18Speaker 1: If it's that quick, I would be shocked because it's sixteen.
- 52:21Speaker 1: We've got sixteen teams. Now, how many teams is the
- 52:24Speaker 1: Big Ten half eighteen? Exactly? So in order for it
- 52:27Speaker 1: to be even of both conferences, the two teams that
- 52:31Speaker 1: fit perfectly Duke in North Carolina. I don't think they
- 52:34Speaker 1: do fit perfectly. I do Why why not? Because here
- 52:38Speaker 1: is why they do. Southeastern Conference has representation in every
- 52:43Speaker 1: state in the South with the exception of one state,
- 52:47Speaker 1: and that state's North Carolina. We've got South Carolina, we
- 52:52Speaker 1: got everything surrounding. We don't have Virginia. But I don't
- 52:55Speaker 1: think Virginia and Virginia Tech are two sexy teams to
- 52:58Speaker 1: bring to the Southeastern I think that potentially could happen
- 53:02Speaker 1: down the road. But there's more population in the state
- 53:06Speaker 1: of North Carolina, so you got more eyeballs, it's gonna
- 53:10Speaker 1: be more money. So that's why the Southeastern Conference and
- 53:14Speaker 1: Greg Sankie will go after North Carolina Duke.
- 53:17Speaker 2: See, I just I don't think so, because I'm thinking
- 53:19Speaker 2: about it more from a a well rounded perspective, and
- 53:22Speaker 2: I just I don't think for what do you mean
- 53:24Speaker 2: by well round like sports across the board. If I'm
- 53:28Speaker 2: bringing in two teams from an outside conference, I want
- 53:32Speaker 2: to make sure that they are going to be as
- 53:34Speaker 2: good as possible at every sport across the board before
- 53:37Speaker 2: I bring them in.
- 53:38Speaker 1: And how Florida State and Miami is a better option.
- 53:43Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, at least Miami, for sure. I think
- 53:47Speaker 1: they're Miami.
- 53:48Speaker 2: They're They're at least always in it in basketball. They're
- 53:52Speaker 2: never like a basketball powerhouse, but they're always a powerhouse
- 53:54Speaker 2: in football. Whereas with Duke and North Carolina, they're not
- 53:58Speaker 2: going to provide anything for the see in terms of
- 54:00Speaker 2: football that that.
- 54:02Speaker 1: Does nothing, that does not ever, that doesn't nothing. North
- 54:06Speaker 1: Carolina has a really good baseball program, Okay, basketball obviously, uh,
- 54:12Speaker 1: and then I don't know much about their minor sports
- 54:15Speaker 1: after that. I just don't Duke has been okay, they
- 54:20Speaker 1: haven't been deplorable when it comes to football, but they
- 54:24Speaker 1: have been pretty good in the past with women's basketball
- 54:27Speaker 1: and men's basket.
- 54:28Speaker 2: I just I don't think Duke would leave with all
- 54:30Speaker 2: the history of the art. And now if the ACC
- 54:33Speaker 2: completely falls apart, maybe this is a scenario I can
- 54:36Speaker 2: see happening.
- 54:37Speaker 1: The ACC is going to completely fall apart. I'm just
- 54:40Speaker 1: telling you it's going to happen, Okay.
- 54:42Speaker 2: Well, I'll believe that when I see it, okay, And
- 54:45Speaker 2: I don't think Duke's leaving until then. There's just there's
- 54:48Speaker 2: too much history with Duke and the ACC for them
- 54:50Speaker 2: to want to balance.
- 54:51Speaker 1: There's too much history with North Carolina. And yet they
- 54:53Speaker 1: want to leave to get away from Duke. No, that's
- 54:57Speaker 1: not the reason. They don't want to get away from
- 55:00Speaker 1: from Duke. They want to stay with Duke. And that's
- 55:01Speaker 1: why I'm convinced that the powers that be in tar
- 55:05Speaker 1: Hill Nation would want to make sure that the Blue
- 55:08Speaker 1: Devil Nations going along with them, and I just think
- 55:11Speaker 1: they would. I firmly believe that this is not an exaggeration.
- 55:15Speaker 1: I firmly believe that now Greg Sanky is he killing
- 55:20Speaker 1: SEC football? How so because of enforcing every SEC team
- 55:27Speaker 1: to play nine SEC games? I mean, isn't that some
- 55:32Speaker 1: people are saying this will be the death of SEC football.
- 55:39Speaker 1: I mean, I don't think so, because I mean I
- 55:42Speaker 1: think it just and it provides for more games, so
- 55:45Speaker 1: you're gonna get more eyeballs, which is gonna provide you
- 55:48Speaker 1: more TV money. I don't think that's it's gonna kill
- 55:51Speaker 1: the SEC. Why are so many coaches and not so many?
- 55:54Speaker 1: Why is every single football coach within the Southeastern Conference
- 55:58Speaker 1: complaining about this? No one of them like it.
- 56:01Speaker 2: I mean, it's just because it's another game added onto
- 56:04Speaker 2: your schedule. It's super hard. Yeah, you can't really so
- 56:07Speaker 2: can't really control what what your schedule looks like anymore.
- 56:11Speaker 1: I mean, who's gonna benefit from this? What teams are? Are?
- 56:15Speaker 1: Are there any teams that will benefit from playing a
- 56:18Speaker 1: nine game SEC schedule? I think that's a fair question.
- 56:23Speaker 1: Oh really you think so? I think so? Yeah? Right? Who?
- 56:26Speaker 2: I mean? I don't have anybody specific, But but then why?
- 56:30Speaker 2: I guess I could point to the Georgia's, Alabama, Florida.
- 56:34Speaker 2: I don't, I don't, I don't haven't any idea.
- 56:37Speaker 1: I don't see how it benefits them. I think it
- 56:39Speaker 1: hurts them. Now, granted, I think the Southeastern Conference is
- 56:44Speaker 1: always going to get how many into the playoffs? Four? Four? Yeah?
- 56:50Speaker 1: I think from that standpoint, the committee will always look
- 56:54Speaker 1: at the Southeastern Conference, Well, they played a really difficult schedule,
- 56:57Speaker 1: so it'll guarantee them for forty every single year. Now,
- 57:01Speaker 1: what worries me. Is it always going to be for
- 57:05Speaker 1: the same four teams every year? That's what concerns me
- 57:08Speaker 1: the most. Is it always going to be Texas, Georgia,
- 57:12Speaker 1: Alabama and whoever the other one that's closed to either LSU,
- 57:18Speaker 1: Oklahoma or any of these other teams that are always
- 57:23Speaker 1: kind of right there Tennessee and Florida virtually on the
- 57:27Speaker 1: edge that get in every other year. That's what worries
- 57:31Speaker 1: me the most. And it's gonna be the haves and
- 57:37Speaker 1: the have nots. And guess what I worry Kentucky will
- 57:40Speaker 1: be one of those have nots. No, not understand, you're
- 57:45Speaker 1: already believing. I'm believing. Wow. Yeah. Okay. By the way,
- 57:49Speaker 1: did you see Brett Belama's comments on the SEC yesterday? No?
- 57:54Speaker 2: I did not, so coach in Illinois. It's pick ten
- 57:57Speaker 2: media days, So right off the bat, within an hour
- 58:00Speaker 2: he already set the headline. I did see this, said
- 58:04Speaker 2: that basically called out Greg Sankey that he's got to
- 58:06Speaker 2: protect the SEC and that they want to quote live
- 58:11Speaker 2: in two thousand and five forever. Yeah, meaning that if
- 58:15Speaker 2: and Brett Beelima basically he elaborated it on it and
- 58:18Speaker 2: he said, heck half the guys I have on my team,
- 58:21Speaker 2: I left tackle, my right tackle. If it was five
- 58:24Speaker 2: years ago, they wouldn't be here playing for me, they'd
- 58:26Speaker 2: be with the SEC. So I thought that was an
- 58:29Speaker 2: interesting call out.
- 58:31Speaker 1: Yeah, it was. It's like you, we're always in the
- 58:34Speaker 1: back of their minds over there, and I never understand
- 58:38Speaker 1: why why would you bring up another conference and picking
- 58:41Speaker 1: on them like this, Because.
- 58:43Speaker 2: The SEC is going to bring themselves up. If you're
- 58:47Speaker 2: not talking about them, they're talking about theirselves themselves.
- 58:49Speaker 1: Other than let them talk about themselves, let them look foolish,
- 58:54Speaker 1: that's just be You're just driving the point that the
- 58:58Speaker 1: SEC is right. So every time you talk about them,
- 59:02Speaker 1: it's just like, Okay, well you're proving them right, you're
- 59:05Speaker 1: not proving them wrong, and everybody's gonna well, let's focus
- 59:08Speaker 1: on the SEC. When you're at a Big ten media
- 59:12Speaker 1: football conference, you should concentrate only on the Big Ten,
- 59:16Speaker 1: not any other conference out there. And I think it's
- 59:19Speaker 1: foolish of him to bring up the SEC and do
- 59:22Speaker 1: a comparison there, just like with Eli Drinkwitz bringing up
- 59:25Speaker 1: the Big Ten. I thought that was stupid. What are
- 59:28Speaker 1: you doing.
- 59:30Speaker 2: There's so many coaches though, at these media days that
- 59:33Speaker 2: they just go in wanting to make a headline.
- 59:35Speaker 1: Oh all right, So you don't think it's sincere. No.
- 59:39Speaker 2: I mean I think there is a small part of
- 59:42Speaker 2: sincerity about it, but I think a larger chunk was
- 59:46Speaker 2: probably just trying to make a headline.
- 59:47Speaker 1: Yeah, I guess so. But I just like, why do
- 59:54Speaker 1: they need make a headline? It's great? I mean, get
- 59:58Speaker 1: eyes on your program? Is that it? Yeah? It's long
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: cutting day? Oh my gosh, yeah it is. I know. Sorry,
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: I just totally squirreled on him. But I just I
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: really struggle with this when they do that, because I did.
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: I had forgotten about that. As soon as you started
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: talking about It's like, ohay, I remember this, and I
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: thought that was just a dumb thing to do. Uh.
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: One person texted and of course fancy pants been at
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: preferred publics? Is that really fancy pants? It seems fancy pants?
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: It does?
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: Why?
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: What? Why is publics that way? They're new in Louisville.
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: Why are they all of a sudden fancy because they're
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: come they came from Florida? What's that got to do
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: with anything? Feels bougie? Because you come from the state
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: of Florida. You're now, bougie.
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: Yeah, you're trying to take over all of our grocery store. Okay,
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: so if if I hope so, because the one that's
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: been here for long is not the greatest.
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: Uh. When will the sly gloating end? We can't all
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: own horses, buddy? Uh? Okay? Wow? You know the funny
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: part is you know what we do majority of our
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: grocery shopping? No Walmart? Eh, Why it's the best prices.
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: I don't go into Walmarts. You don't know.
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: Yeah, so, although I did walk, I had to go
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: to Walmart a couple weeks ago to get a pair
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: of shoes. Got it because I forgot him. I was
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: playing softball and didn't bring them with me. Bout a
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: pair of tennis shoes? They are nice looking? Are they
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: really eleven dollars? I couldn't believe you.
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: Have them on? No, but I would like to see
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: a picture of these eleven in my car. I'll go
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: grab Are they really? I'd like to see that? Yeah,
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: they're good looking. Mister Bougie Bennett right here does not
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: go all the time and spend Listen, I'm probably one
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: of the more frugal people you ever meet in your life,
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: Like today, I'm going back home and guess what I'm
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: having for lunch? Leftover, leftovers exactly. I don't have a
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: problem with it. So uh, I could go on, but
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: I won't. John. Here, I'm not sure about all this
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: stuff about teams leaving conferences and this five year rules. Yeah. See,
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: I'm right there with you, John, I am not sure
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: how I feel about that. However, one day the biggest
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: school college athletics teams, especially in basketball, such as Kentucky
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: Duke and other programs, might just leave and start their
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: own league. In general, I believe that may happen one day.
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: I think that's more likely than do you really. Yeah,
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: I'm just in other words, just have a basketball conference.
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: I just I feel like everyone's just getting so fed
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: up with the NC double A that we're gonna get
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: to a point where everybody's like, all right, let's let's
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: form our own thing here and just leave the NC
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: double A.
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: Well. See, I think that's what Greg zank you would
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: want to do. Yeah, And if if I guarantee you
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: that's what the Big Ten commissioner wants to do, he
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: would love it to just have a big ten SEC
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: league and that'd be it.
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: And they have their own rules, and yeah, would it
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: be awesome though? It would because then I mean, just
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: think you wouldn't have to pay attention to so many
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: schools that we do we really even care about to
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: begin with, No, like who who don't you care about?
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: Like I don't want to watch New Mexico basketball? Or
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: I don't know why they were the example, but I mean,
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: just yeah, Port New Mexico, would they do to justin Kale?
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: We just don't have to pay attention to. So do
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: you hear that New Mexico. I'm calling you out in
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: New Mexico on Wednesday morning?
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: I would have figured somebody else completely different than I
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: would have figured you would have wanted to just say, screwt,
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: let's get rid of Purdue. That's what I would have figured.
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: You say, not Port New Mexico. If we just wanted
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: to get rid of Purdue, that'd be great, so Indiana
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: could start getting some in state recruits. Again, why do
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: you dislike Producer because they just is it the fan
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: base or is there something about the school itself? So
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: there's a lot there's I've told.
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: You the burrito story, right, yes, Okay, So that's one
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: reason they are literally every good in state recruit in
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: the last five ten years, they've all gone to Purdue
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: because they're just more hoping faith in Matt Painter. But
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: my main thing about Purdue is, and if you go
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: up to a game, you'll you'll experience this, whether it's football, basketball,
- 1:04:27Speaker 2: doesn't matter. Every single game they play, Michael, they have
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: a cheer where they chant IU sucks.
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: Oh that's what it is.
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: I'm good if you all want to do that if
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: you're playing IU. But when you're playing the School of
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: the Blind and you're just chanting IU sucks, why does
- 1:04:46Speaker 2: Indiana live so rent free and Purdue's head they are
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: such freaking losers.
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: Well, the part I don't get is the why the
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: El's down bothers so many U of L fans. I mean,
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: you're doing the l's up to us, So if we
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: do the opposite, watch can't we do that?
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: I mean the whole that that's everything Everything I just
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: mentioned about Purdue is is true with Kentucky fans in Louisville.
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: I mean, you'll they'll pan to a Kentucky fan in
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: the crowd as you all are playing, right, Youngstown State
- 1:05:14Speaker 2: and they'll throw ells down.
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: It's what are we doing? See, I'm right there with it.
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: And then uh, I was worried the SEC was gonna
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: fail the conference by saying, Okay, anybody that does the
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: horns down is gonna have a pen unsportsmanlike penalty like
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: they did in the Big Twelve. I thought the Big
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: Tip twelve caved and it's like, listen, if they can
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: do horns up, you shouldn't. Uh, you should be allowed
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: to do horns down now. If you're gonna make it
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: illegal in a rule that unsports unsportsmanlike conduct for doing
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: horns down, then it should be unsportsmanlike conduct. If it's
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: horns up. What's good for the goose is good for
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: the gander. Okay, that's what I've always believed. So never
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: understood that phrase. I don't either, but I used it,
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: and so I just said it. I have no idea
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: what it means. What is a gander is that the
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: girl goose. The goose is the male goose, and the
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: gander is the female goose. See, nice job. You're squirreling.
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: As much as I am, I don't know a male
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: goose is a gander. The male goose is a gander. Okay,
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: there you go. What's good for the woman is good
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: for the man. That's true. And so what's good for
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: Texas should be good for the rest of the conference
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: as well. And what's good for the conference should be
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: good for Texas. So you know what, I think it's okay.
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: If you're gonna do the whole horns up, I should
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: be allowed to do the horns down. Yeah, don't you
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: agree if you're playing Texas, if you're okay, if you're
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: you're throwing random horns down when you're not playing Texas, Io, yeah,
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: I don't. And you know what to do it with
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: opposing coach. I never liked that either, even if you're
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: kind of getting there, it's just like, you know, that's
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: that's a little on the disrespectful side. So anyway, but
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: all right, we'll go and take a break because it's
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: nine twenty four and I'm supposed to take one at
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: nine twenty but we'll take one right now. Five will
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: two take time? I know, I just I'm sorry, all right,
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: it ain't no big deal for me. I'll do my best.
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: I'll do my best to stop at nine forty when
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: we come back Okay, I'll show it won't happen five
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: will two four one four fourteen fifty. Send me some
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: texts and I'll I'll read them on theirs. They're right there.
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: We got two more segments of just like that seen.
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: I like this song. This is one of those songs
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: I turn up. So all right, University Kentucky, Oh, I
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: shouldn't say. Uk La Familia is headed to the Semis tonight,
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: playing in Lexington at the Historic Memorial Coliseem at seven o'clock.
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: If you want to watch it, that'll be televised to night.
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: But we got the game tonight. It is a white
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: out if you're going to show up for it, so
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: they're asking everybody to wear anything white, and most likely
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: if you want to provide helmets for the players, they're
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: asking for that too, because they're worried that Kansas is
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: going to come in there the alumni team and start
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: a fight. So but anyway, this is gonna be a
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: wild game. There were not any ejections from the game
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: tonight or suspensions, I should say, but you know that
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: game against Wichita State they had the other night their
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: alumni team was a wild game. They're starting to tell
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: more and more about that and what all happened. Did
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: you see where a woman in the stands got hit.
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: I did broke her nose. The bone was coming out
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: of the skin. And the dude that did it's like
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: he tweeted something out. Yeah, I knocked him to the floor,
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: and then he immediately deleted it like a few hours
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: later and then sends up some apology. And I'm to
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: the point now, man, when you get a broken nose
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: going to a basketball of all things, an alumni basketball game,
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: should the guy be arrested and charged with assault and
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: ensued to take care of all her health? No? Why?
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: Because I mean that's the risk you takes sitting on
- 1:10:26Speaker 2: the floor. Wow, Man, you've got to know. And if
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: you do have floor seats, you have to be cognizant
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: of what's going on around you. I know there's gonna
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: be something. I don't know if you can get away
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: from that though. That's what I was gonna say, if
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: you was letting me finish. I know there's some things
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: you're gonna not be able to get out of the
- 1:10:39Speaker 2: way of, and they're just that's gonna happen. But I mean,
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: you take that chance when you get floor are they
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: okay over that? I have no idea. I have no
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: idea what's going on? That was really loud.
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: I'm unlocking my window right now.
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: It's very distracted. If you can't hear it on air,
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: I don't think you. Probably there is somebody across the
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: hall that is absolutely screaming. I'm I'm a little uncomfortable
- 1:11:12Speaker 2: in it.
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: You know, I'm a lover. I'm not a fighter. So
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: anytime anybody that would come after me, if I was
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: there on the basketball court, I'm out of there. It
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: is like, this is not me. So okay. Uh, but
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: all right, So the game's going to be played tonight,
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: seven o'clock at Memorial. Uh what are we thinking about
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: this game? Justin I look at this and I, uh,
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: I'm not sure about this. Because you got Zeke Mayo,
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: who scored twenty five points the other night against the Aftershocks. Uh.
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: Because there's only really three players on this team, Zeke Mayo,
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: Jacob Hanna and Frank Mason two the well, go ahead,
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: I'd say Mario Chalmers as well, would you. Chalmers didn't
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: really do anything, you know, he scored three points the
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: other night.
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: Yeah, he was one of the guys got objected. Okay,
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: so he would have done better, you think if he'd
- 1:12:03Speaker 2: have stated to me a little bit. Yeah, yeah, okay,
- 1:12:05Speaker 2: well three points is all you had. But yeah, those
- 1:12:07Speaker 2: three players, two of the three year from Kansas. The
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: other one is from what was what school was it?
- 1:12:14Speaker 2: It was some school I've literally never ever heard of.
- 1:12:18Speaker 2: But uh it Washburn, that's it. So Jacob hann is
- 1:12:22Speaker 2: from Washburn, but I haven't either.
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: I didn't know who that was. But uh anyway, Uh
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: are you surprised they were not suspended because of this fight? No?
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: I mean it's tvt This is supposed to be a
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: fun tournament in the middle of the summer. Yeah no,
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: if this happens across any other level of basketball, yeah,
- 1:12:45Speaker 2: they're suspended.
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: But you can't.
- 1:12:48Speaker 2: You can't take the fun away and the good players
- 1:12:50Speaker 2: away from a tournament that's already not getting the most.
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: But then you're teaching them it's okay to have fights.
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: I mean, it's I mean, let's let's act like grown ups.
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: This is an alumni team. This, Yes, it does mean
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: two million dollars. Come on, man, you would fight if
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: it was two million dollars too. The No, I wouldn't
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: I've been out of there. If the time called for it,
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: you would, Yeah, I Like I told you the other day,
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: I've never been in a fight before it, and I
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: hope to knock on wood. Hope to never be in
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: a fight because you'll lose. I'm sure I would. I
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: don't know how to fight. I don't want to fight.
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: I just like, why do you get so upset that
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: the first thing you think of is you want to
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: hit somebody. It's like, no, I just I don't. That's
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: the last thing I think of. I try to diffuse
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: it and make it funny. It's like, dude, it's okay,
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: by the way, Well, I'll talk about that in a minute,
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: but I'm looking forward to it. I'm gonna watch it.
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: Do we want to save our predictions for before the
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: wei in the show? Do you should we talk about them? Now?
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: I don't really know which way I'm gonna lean. I
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: don't either now, I really don't. I mean, I'm almost
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: coming in here thinking I can go two ways with this.
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: I can go with They just came Kansas just came
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: from a game where they were in an altercation, a
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: physical altercation. Kind of feel like they might play a
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: little Timid. Because of that, it might work the opposite way.
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: And on the other hand, they might come in there
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: and say, no, no, no, we're here to fight. We
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: are going to fight.
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: But I think both of these teams are coming off
- 1:14:23Speaker 2: games where, quite frankly, I didn't expect them to win.
- 1:14:26Speaker 2: I did not expect either team to get past their
- 1:14:28Speaker 2: last opponent.
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: So oh, you expected after Shocks to win? I did, Yeah.
- 1:14:32Speaker 2: I mean they're the defending champion, right, so I thought
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: they would walk all over Jayhawks, But okay, they didn't.
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: I thought Beaheim's Army would beat Lat Familia. They didn't.
- 1:14:42Speaker 2: Yeah, So now you have two teams in this game
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: that I don't know that anyone expected to even be
- 1:14:46Speaker 2: in this game. So I'm trying to figure out how
- 1:14:49Speaker 2: it's going to go. Has been really difficult.
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: And see, I don't know anything about the other two
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: teams in Aerant, the ones that are playing out in Lost.
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: That is anybody even going to those games? That a
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: great question. They're televised, aren't they? Are they just showing
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: only the alumni games Because I haven't watched anything else
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: other than the alumni team. I'm pretty sure they've been
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: They have been Okay, I just like to know, are
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: they just playing in one of those Remember when Kentucky
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: went down to the Bahamas and they played in the ballroom.
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: I thought that was the weirdest thing.
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: So the other side is Davis Steele, which I have
- 1:15:23Speaker 2: never heard of, Davis Steel and then Heartfire, which hardfires
- 1:15:28Speaker 2: in this every year. So I would imagine they're probably
- 1:15:30Speaker 2: gonna win.
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: But who knows. I couldn't tell you. I mean, is
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: Las Vegas there, they're putting spreads out, so people are
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: betting on it? Oh? Yeah, absolutely? And is it creating
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: good money? I mean, is it? Are people really betting
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: on it? Okay?
- 1:15:48Speaker 2: I mean if I haven't bet on it, then there's
- 1:15:50Speaker 2: not a big faction of people that don't really okay,
- 1:15:53Speaker 2: because I bet on everything.
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: That is true. You do bet on everything. But anyway,
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: Zach texted, you can produce fan bases. Sound very familiar.
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: Always worried about the other school in the state. See
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: I don't agree with that, Zach. I just U of
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: L is equally as worried about UK as UK's worried
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: about you. Oh no, I disagree a whole part of Okay,
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: all right, well you're you're again wrong today. But uh,
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: I'll go ahead and put up with your decision right there.
- 1:16:25Speaker 2: But Kentucky fans will bring up Louisville any chance they can.
- 1:16:28Speaker 2: Louisville won't do the same, and maybe maybe maybe maybe
- 1:16:31Speaker 2: wrong about that. Maybe results have something to do with that,
- 1:16:35Speaker 2: but I do I feel like Kentucky talks way more
- 1:16:37Speaker 2: about Louisville than Lie.
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: Okay, all right, then whatever you say. But yeah, because
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: I hear more from U of L fans, I hate UK.
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: This is like, wow, I mean because they always beat
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: your ass. Yeah, well that's probably probably majority of the
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: reason right there. Uh So, yesterday or a couple of
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: days ago, somebody put out the rankings of college baseball
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: recruiting class for twenty twenty six and the top twenty five,
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: and man, is it a top twenty five? To behold?
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: Are you ready for this? And this is the crazy part? One, two, three, four, five, six, seven.
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: Eight of the top ten come from one conference. Number
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: one Vanderbilt, number two, LSU three Tennessee for Texas, five Stanford,
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: I didn't know Stanford was good at baseball, six Mississippi State,
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: seven Florida, eight, Virginia, nine Arkansas and number ten. The
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: University of Kentucky. How do you like that?
- 1:17:47Speaker 2: So you're tenth overall but eighth in the SEC exactly?
- 1:17:51Speaker 2: Isn't that the crazy part here? They think they got
- 1:17:54Speaker 2: to go well, they do have a great recruiting class
- 1:17:56Speaker 2: coming in, but you're still eighth. You're still five hundred
- 1:18:00Speaker 2: nd it in, you're eighth out of sixteen teams, right
- 1:18:04Speaker 2: in the middle of the bunch. How crazy is that?
- 1:18:07Speaker 2: And see here we go with Vanderbilt again. Now VANDEBI granted,
- 1:18:12Speaker 2: Vanderbilt's always been pretty good at baseball, but here they
- 1:18:15Speaker 2: are number one. To me, there's your little indication right there.
- 1:18:19Speaker 2: They are spending money at Vanderbilt on sports. Okay, beware
- 1:18:25Speaker 2: of Vanderbilt. I can't emphasize that. And you still don't
- 1:18:28Speaker 2: believe me about this? To you, Jay justin, No, I mean,
- 1:18:33Speaker 2: I'm just sick of you slabbering all over Vanderbilt.
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: All I'm not slobbering. I'm telling the truth.
- 1:18:37Speaker 2: You love Vanderbilt, oh my gosh, and it's exhausting, it is. No,
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: I'm being I do not love Vanderbilt. You if someone
- 1:18:49Speaker 2: listened to this show specifically, I just worried about it specifically.
- 1:18:53Speaker 2: This week, they would think that Michael Bennett was a
- 1:18:55Speaker 2: Vanderbilt fan. I am not a Vanderbilt fan. I'm not
- 1:18:58Speaker 2: even close to being a Vanderbilt fan. Now, did I
- 1:19:01Speaker 2: enjoy Diego Pavia last year in his excitement the last
- 1:19:04Speaker 2: two years?
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: Yes, I did enjoy that. Not bad. I thought it
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: was fine. See that's the fun part about this is
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: that he's a guy that should not have this succeeded
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: in Division one football, much less the SEC, and he did.
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: That's it when the underdog gets up there and succeeds.
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: I love that. Those are my favorite stories. I just
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: think it's fun. I mean, can you imagine I'd be
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: rooting for you five six? There you go. But that
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: couldn't see over anybody. But to round out the top
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: twenty five, the Southeastern Conference has won two, three, four,
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: five more teams. The SEC has fifteen of the top
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: twenty five. That's crazy. Yeah, that is crazy. And that's
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: coming from Baseball America, so it's not coming from a
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: Southeast Eastern Conference type deal. Just so so you know that.
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: But Nick min Jones has it going on and I'm
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: really excited about it. It'll be a fun season. Before
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: we take another break, I'll get to this real quick.
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: Justin here you go, Will from South Central. I listen
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: to Just the Doors with Michael vander Bennett every morning.
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: That's right, That's right, you do, Will from South Central.
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: That's your best text every night. I love it. So anyway,
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: we're going to take a break right now, Just the Doors.
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: And my name is not Michael vander Bennett. Okay, that
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: sounds bougie right there, mister Illinois with your public's take, right,
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: But anyway, there, how was that Will take? I was
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: still late? Okay, all right, we'll be right back one
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: more segmented justin not Doors, just the Cats coming right out.
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: All right, We're on our last segment on this Wednesday.
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: So you know, the last couple of days, the NFL
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: teams have been releasing their new uniforms, helmets, all that
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: kind of stuff. And I've never been much of a
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: fan of this team, but I'm starting to become one
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: because of what Well, a lot of the reason is
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: because of some of the players that are former UK
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: players that are up there playing, But the other part
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: is it's to me. I want to know if you
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: think they are becoming the IT team and the it
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: team that I'm referring to Justin is the Buffalo Bills.
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: What do you think, because did you see the new
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: helmets and the new uniforms that they released the last
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: couple of days. Nope, Okay, you need to look it up.
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: They have new alternate unis with blue collars honoring the
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: workers of the city and honoring Nickel City. I never
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: knew Buffalo was known as Nickel City, but I knew
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: it was a big you know, it's a big blue
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: collar city. I did know that, and I love the
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: meaning behind the meaning. Jersey and pants are predominantly gray
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: with a right a red and white and blue on
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: the helmet, and that is a blue charge large helmet
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: that has an oversize uh uh cut out the team's logo,
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: which which I think is really cool. I mean there
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: is a cool factor to it. You like them? I do.
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: And then now you got the brand new stadium that
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: they're building. I don't know if you saw this, but
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: within the construction of the building of the stadium they
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: put in they actually put in a folding table that
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: is broken into the design of the of the stadium.
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: You laughed on the I think it's hilarious too, But
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: I thought, that's awesome. So to me, I'm kind of
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: getting to a point where, Yep, Buffalo is kind of
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: the cool team right now within the NFL.
- 1:23:45Speaker 2: I feel like they've been the cool team for hand
- 1:23:49Speaker 2: full of years. Yeah, they just they haven't been able
- 1:23:51Speaker 2: to push through and get that title. But yeah, yeah,
- 1:23:53Speaker 2: I feel like every year they're they're always being talked about.
- 1:23:57Speaker 2: You're constantly seeing people jumping thir t and stuff. They're
- 1:24:02Speaker 2: pre game what do they call that, tailgates and stuffs.
- 1:24:04Speaker 2: So yeah, I mean I don't think it's anything new
- 1:24:07Speaker 2: that they're now the cool team. I think they were
- 1:24:09Speaker 2: already kind of the cool team really. Okay, well when
- 1:24:12Speaker 2: I saw that, it's like, Okay, this is awesome. I mean,
- 1:24:14Speaker 2: you got of course, just to remind everyone, Ray Davis
- 1:24:18Speaker 2: is playing for the Buffalo Bills, Dean Walker's playing for
- 1:24:20Speaker 2: the Buffalo Bills.
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: All the cornerback Maxwell Harriston is playing for the Buffalo
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: Buffalo Bills. So and then that makes it kind of
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: easy to transition into uh now the wrong Joshua uh
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: is playing up there for a quarterback, but you know
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: he usually plays defense.
- 1:24:41Speaker 2: So but you know what that example is for me
- 1:24:43Speaker 2: in the NFL. Unfortunately, I'm ready. It's the New York Jets.
- 1:24:48Speaker 2: So I think they got like three or four Indiana guys.
- 1:24:52Speaker 2: That should be my secondary team. But in no way,
- 1:24:55Speaker 2: shape or form for the Jets.
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: See that would be me with probably either the Titans
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: and or the Raiders. I've just never been real fans
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: of them. And so yeah, when Will Levice was with
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: the Titans, it's like, yeah, I can't root for them. Sorry,
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: I'm still sorry, Will, I'm rooting for you, but I
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: am not rooting for the Titans. I just yeah, I
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: can't do it. I don't know if you saw this
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: or not, but last week two people jumped the fin
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: They went all the way up the space needle in Seattle,
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: jumped whatever that keeps you from going over the space
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: needle and base jumped from the space needle, survived and
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: escaped and are still being sought after. Why can you
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: explain to me why people want to do this kind
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: of crap? A viral moment? Is that what it is?
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: They just want a viral. You can't brag about it.
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: If you brag about it, you're gonna get arrested. Yeah,
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: but they can tell their friends and people that they
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: trust and nobody I tell one person, it's spreads to
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: the Oh, I guess what, I know who the person is.
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: Guess what I heard? This person knows who is And
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: then all of a sudden, you're getting arrested. Once you
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: tell one person, you can't tell me that person is
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: going to keep a secret.
- 1:26:18Speaker 2: I mean I would be able to and would you
- 1:26:20Speaker 2: unlessa came out and the authorities were like, we're fifty
- 1:26:25Speaker 2: thousand dollars reward for helping us find them. Sorry, buddy,
- 1:26:28Speaker 2: y'all are out. Okay, I'm out in you every time. Man, Golly,
- 1:26:33Speaker 2: you're no friend.
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: I mean, you're all about so you what you're telling
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: me right now, justin kaylin, is that you're all about
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: money over friendship.
- 1:26:43Speaker 2: Absolutely not. You just said that, Well, there comes a
- 1:26:46Speaker 2: certain point. Fifty thousands a lot of money. My buddy
- 1:26:49Speaker 2: would want me to take that.
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: Really, I'm going to jail, but no, I want you
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: to have that money.
- 1:26:55Speaker 2: Just now, bail him out. Oh, I'll take a lot.
- 1:27:00Speaker 2: I'll take a portion of the money and bail him out.
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: At least I'm not a jerk. Yeah, you're not a jerk.
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: He turned him in. Now he's gonna pay out the
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: law Are you gonna pay the lawyer fees too?
- 1:27:11Speaker 2: Well, I'm just helping him because I know how stressful
- 1:27:14Speaker 2: that would be if you're out on the run, you know,
- 1:27:17Speaker 2: constantly looking over your shoulder.
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: Oh my god, do the mature thing and make him
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: get it over with, Okay, All right, then, well I
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: can tell you the two of us are never base jumping,
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: are we.
- 1:27:27Speaker 2: I would base jump, which I thought you were scared
- 1:27:29Speaker 2: of heights. I'm more scared of heights now than I
- 1:27:32Speaker 2: used to be. But I mean, my my adrenaline junkie
- 1:27:36Speaker 2: side is he hasn't gone anywhere.
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: No, I'm not doing it. I can get adrenaline junkie
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: side from a lot of other things. It's not jumping
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: off of a building or anything. You've never jumped out
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: of a plane either, No, I'm never going to. Yeah,
- 1:27:50Speaker 1: that's one of the funnest things I've ever done, is it? Really?
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: But you've done it in kandem though? Right? Well?
- 1:27:55Speaker 2: Yeah, I didn't have a choice. Yeah, I would have
- 1:27:58Speaker 2: rather gone solo, but I didn't have a choice. How
- 1:28:00Speaker 2: many jumps do you have to do before you can go?
- 1:28:03Speaker 2: I think by yourself? Think and fifty? Is it that man,
- 1:28:07Speaker 2: which that's a lot of money, Scott, that's alms getting
- 1:28:10Speaker 2: ready to ask you how much does it cost to go?
- 1:28:12Speaker 2: One time in tandom it was I want to say
- 1:28:15Speaker 2: for us, it was like one thir wow that that
- 1:28:19Speaker 2: you might.
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: As well get your pilot's license because that's the kind
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: of money you're spending right there. Exactly good gosh, yeah, no,
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: that's that's I'm not spending that kind of money to
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: do something like that. So uh uh before we go,
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: I did want to ask a question, you know. It's
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: it's now now that I've heard a lot of people talking,
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: are you okay? Okay? I've heard a lot of people
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: talking that Mark Stoops is still in Lexington. There is
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: going to be a time that UK will celebrate Mark
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: Stoops at a UK football game. What is the right
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: amount of time to go by before UK invites him back,
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: because you you have to celebrate Mark Stukes. He's the
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: most the winningest coach in UK football history. He did
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: bring back UK football. You gotta believe he's done so
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: much for the I think he's done more for UK
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: than he has done worse for UK or done bad.
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: Even negotiated his exit strategy to save UK money because
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: he could have been a jert and said no, no, no, no,
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: this is the contract you signed with me. You owe
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: me this money in a lump sum. But no, he
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: worked it out. How long before you think UK invites
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: him back to honor him.
- 1:29:43Speaker 2: I think it has to be for something memorable, not
- 1:29:47Speaker 2: necessarily like a Bowl, but like twenty eighteen, for example,
- 1:29:53Speaker 2: was the first ten win season. Yeah, maybe if you
- 1:29:55Speaker 2: want to bring him back in like twenty twenty eight
- 1:29:58Speaker 2: to celebrate the ten year anniversary, that yes, I'd be okay.
- 1:30:01Speaker 2: But for me, it's almost like you have to have
- 1:30:04Speaker 2: a reason to bring him back or it's just gonna
- 1:30:06Speaker 2: be and feel awkward.
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know if it fits. Well, yeah, it
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: might feel awkward, but I think I think you just
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: bought the perfect idea up that they should do it
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: in twenty twenty eight, bring back a number of the
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: players back and then lo and beholds surprise, surprise. Mark
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: Stoops is here. Yeah, and I think, yeah, you bring
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: back Benny Snell, you bring back Josh Allen, you bring
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: back all those Landon Young was a key player on
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: that team. You bring back It was Lynn Bowden on
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: that team. I may or may not been.
- 1:30:36Speaker 2: But or if you wanted to bring him in for
- 1:30:38Speaker 2: twenty thirty one to celebrate zero wins, I'd be okay
- 1:30:42Speaker 2: with that. Hey see what I did there?
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: Whoa? That was Yeah, there you go with my favorite joke.
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: But that's just that's mean spirited as far as i'm
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: But no, I don't. I don't think you do something
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: like that. But twenty twenty eight is just a couple
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: of years away, noah, And I think that's the right
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: amount of time. But you don't want to bring him
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: back this year. That No, no, no, no, no, no,
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: that's not what I'm saying. No, not at all. I
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: think you wait a couple of years and then you
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: bring him back, and you know, guess what, everybody loves you.
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: I think there will come a time, a day in time,
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: when John Calipari's done coaching basketball, that he will come
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: back at Reparina and people will celebrate him. I very
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: much do. It'd have to be something similar like celebrating
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: the twelve twelve title. I don't know. I mean, we
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: celebrated Rick Patino and it wasn't it was just because
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: they hired Mark Pope back are as head coach.
- 1:31:38Speaker 2: Yeah, but at least there's a connection. There are saying
- 1:31:41Speaker 2: Kentucky's eventually going to hire Brad cal Perry.
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: Oh boy, let's not go there. Have you watched all
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: the videos that are coming out on Tony Romo, no
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: and him getting arrested. Yeah, like the rest videos. Yeah,
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: with the police officer video that had the camera on,
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: it's odd. I mean it's kind of I looked at it,
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: and I think it's kind of sad. If I was
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: out normally on the street and I saw this guy,
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: I don't think I would recognize Tony Romo in a
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: T shirt and pair of pants. Probably how he would
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: like it, I would agree with that. I mean, are
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: there players out there that you never liked that you
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: still wouldn't speak to if you saw them out in
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: the open?
- 1:32:22Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, yeah, Terrence Jones. Terrence Jones. Really, I
- 1:32:27Speaker 2: wouldn't say. I don't care to say one word hate
- 1:32:31Speaker 2: that dude.
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: Okay, all right, didn't there you go everybody he doesn't
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: like Terrence Jones.
- 1:32:35Speaker 2: I don't know why either. That's the most annoying part
- 1:32:38Speaker 2: is I can't put my finger on why I don't
- 1:32:40Speaker 2: like it.
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: Yeah, I just do not like, I saw the video
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: of Terry Terry uh Tony Romo, and I do I
- 1:32:46Speaker 1: feel really bad for him. He's got this kind of
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: a weird haircut and he just kind of looks like
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: an old man that looks a little lost. Who is
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: the guy? Who's the guy that got in trouble up
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: an Indy punched somebody in an alley? Oh? Yes, I
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: can't remember who it was? Yes, what about it? I
- 1:33:08Speaker 1: just I was just thinking about that. And oh Mark Sanchez, Yeah,
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: Mark Sanchez, Yes, yes, yes, yes, what about it? I
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: don't know, I was just I was thinking about videos.
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: There we go. Yeah, Okay, Tonight La Familia is playing
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: Kansas alumni whatever their name is, Jayhawks. Yeah, uh we
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: we gotta make a decision. What are we thinking about
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: this game tonight? Truthfully, I'm thinking this is where the
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: road ends. I think that this the Kansas team is
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: so jacked up after beating Wichita, the aftershocks and having
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: the fight. I think they're coming in here with a
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: mindset we are going to win it all. I'm the
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: opposite of you.
- 1:33:54Speaker 2: I'm gonna say, with all the all the Archie Goodwin
- 1:33:57Speaker 2: drama gone down or early in this tournament. I think
- 1:34:00Speaker 2: he's gonna come out, be really good tonight, and a
- 1:34:02Speaker 2: lot familiar live to see another day.
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: I'm so sad to hear that. If you're headed over
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: to the game, I wish a bunch of y'all, are
- 1:34:09Speaker 1: you pick? One of us is gonna be right? One
- 1:34:11Speaker 1: of us gonna be I know, but generally when you
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: pick the one team that they lose, you've been wrong
- 1:34:17Speaker 1: to well, yeah, but not as much as you. I mean,
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: you're You're the consistent one that screws this up. So Thursday,
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: all right, everybody, have a great day. We'll see you tomorrow.
