- 0:09Speaker 1: Inside the Birds is back.
- 0:13Speaker 2: What's going on? Everybody?
- 0:14Speaker 1: It's Jeff Mosher and Adam Kaplan coming to you on
- 0:17Speaker 1: a Friday afternoon, really, and what we wanted to do was,
- 0:22Speaker 1: obviously the Eagles and Patriots wrapped up their joint practices.
- 0:24Speaker 1: They'll play their game preseason game number two, Saturday night.
- 0:28Speaker 1: You heard Adam and Andrew recap the first Eagles joint
- 0:31Speaker 1: practice with the Patriots, and then you know, the next
- 0:34Speaker 1: day is like get away day by trying to get
- 0:36Speaker 1: in there, get out. Andrew did his to check o daily,
- 0:39Speaker 1: so he was able to give you his perspective on
- 0:41Speaker 1: the second practice, And what we're gonna do with this
- 0:43Speaker 1: podcast is get Adam's perspective on not just the second day,
- 0:47Speaker 1: but the whole two days of practices, and then we'll
- 0:50Speaker 1: talk about some guys that we think that we know
- 0:55Speaker 1: preseason game number two will be important for us backups
- 0:58Speaker 1: competing for jobs, and some people who just need to
- 1:00Speaker 1: start to step it up a little bit. So Adam,
- 1:02Speaker 1: you're back. Thankfully you're safe. I know you, like many others,
- 1:05Speaker 1: had to drive through some really wicked storms to get home.
- 1:08Speaker 1: But what was your impression of the second day, And
- 1:12Speaker 1: like sort of the overall recap of the two days
- 1:14Speaker 1: of practice.
- 1:14Speaker 3: Yeah, as it fully expected. The second day was later,
- 1:17Speaker 3: it was shorter, but they still got teamwork in seven
- 1:21Speaker 3: on seven, eleven on eleven they did that, which was
- 1:24Speaker 3: fully expected.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Did they stript more, did they do more like situational
- 1:29Speaker 1: stuff on the yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 1:32Speaker 3: So on Thursday Thursday, late Thursday morning and early Friday
- 1:39Speaker 3: Thursday afternoon. You know, they started. Actually, it's interesting they
- 1:43Speaker 3: changed it up a little bit. The eagles were there
- 1:47Speaker 3: are two levels of fields. There's a lower and there's upper.
- 1:50Speaker 3: Eagles were on the lower field doing their own individual
- 1:55Speaker 3: warm up. But instead of getting up there ten to
- 1:57Speaker 3: fifteenth at the time the scheduled time for this, they
- 2:00Speaker 3: got there at like they got to the upper field at
- 2:02Speaker 3: like ten thirty ten thirty five, which means you're not
- 2:05Speaker 3: going to practice that long. So then they plus they
- 2:08Speaker 3: ended fifteen minutes early. But the team stuff was good.
- 2:12Speaker 3: They did a lot of situational work that it was
- 2:14Speaker 3: like a situational Thursday is what it was.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Sure.
- 2:18Speaker 3: Red zone, goal line, red zone, a ton of red zone,
- 2:20Speaker 3: some some half field. But it was good. That energy
- 2:25Speaker 3: was really good. Let's get started on an offense. Yeah, Look,
- 2:31Speaker 3: the quarterbacks have been up and down all camp. Okay,
- 2:33Speaker 3: they're learning a new system. Yes, Andy Dalton has experienced
- 2:36Speaker 3: in the West Coast. But it's it's you're you're playing,
- 2:40Speaker 3: you're being coached by different coaches you'ven't worked with before
- 2:43Speaker 3: but were told about Andy Dalton. Here, you're you're with
- 2:47Speaker 3: players you've never worked with before. So yeah, it's all
- 2:49Speaker 3: new to him, honestly, And it's it's like the other quarterbacks.
- 2:53Speaker 3: It's been a timing issue. It's it's it's not working
- 2:56Speaker 3: with Smitty or Lemon. Smithy's doing individual stuff, but he's
- 3:00Speaker 3: not practicing. Now. The good thing is he looks fine.
- 3:02Speaker 3: He's watched him the two days warm up but not practice,
- 3:06Speaker 3: and he looks fine. There it's a ramp up here,
- 3:08Speaker 3: that's what it's called. So that I totally get that.
- 3:11Speaker 3: But again, not having Smith for two weeks, not having
- 3:14Speaker 3: Levin virtually of all camp and most of the offseason.
- 3:16Speaker 3: Remember you got hurting no tas very early and that
- 3:18Speaker 3: was it for him, So it showed. Look, it definitely
- 3:22Speaker 3: shows too. Of your top receiver receivers are not practicing.
- 3:24Speaker 3: It's gonna be a problem now. The upside is they
- 3:28Speaker 3: put more on Don Tavian Wicks and he's just shown up.
- 3:31Speaker 3: He's had a great camp, like he's the most he's
- 3:34Speaker 3: so consistent. You know, we we've lauded the Darius Cooper
- 3:38Speaker 3: and how good he's looked. But Don Tavian Wicks, who yes,
- 3:41Speaker 3: he played in West Coast System, his tire career of
- 3:43Speaker 3: the Packers looks great. He's an ex receiver. I've seen
- 3:47Speaker 3: him line up inside a little bit, but he's he's
- 3:50Speaker 3: an outside receiver. They run like you're talking to people.
- 3:56Speaker 3: Some some people coming off the field like both teams
- 4:00Speaker 3: ran their stuff, but there is zero game planning. You
- 4:02Speaker 3: don't game plan for for joint practices, but you get
- 4:06Speaker 3: to see what they're doing. You saw the pre staff
- 4:07Speaker 3: motion for the Eagles. You know, you saw Hurts under center.
- 4:10Speaker 3: You saw the miss a little bit of shotgun, but
- 4:11Speaker 3: a lot of under center. It's what we've seen in
- 4:14Speaker 3: OTAs in training camp. But you know, I don't do
- 4:18Speaker 3: who won practice? That that's that as I've learned, and
- 4:21Speaker 3: I was wrong many times early in my career. When
- 4:23Speaker 3: you think a team won practice, you get it totally wrong.
- 4:25Speaker 3: When you talk to people really running it right now.
- 4:28Speaker 3: You can see on the first day clearly the Patriots
- 4:32Speaker 3: passing game had a major advantage. Like that wasn't debatable.
- 4:35Speaker 3: They dominated. Okay, they dominated. I know for a fact.
- 4:39Speaker 3: They did not game plan. They just ran their stuff.
- 4:42Speaker 3: A ton of crossers, a lot of success. Okay, that's something. Yeah,
- 4:48Speaker 3: what's that.
- 4:49Speaker 2: I was gonna say, that's like the vintage Josh McDaniel's offense.
- 4:52Speaker 3: So yeah, a lot of cross Yeah. Yeah. Now here's
- 4:55Speaker 3: the good thing. Coaches will tell you that when it
- 4:57Speaker 3: doesn't go well for your secondary, that's okay because what
- 5:01Speaker 3: happens is you get it on tape. You see what
- 5:02Speaker 3: they were doing, you look at your leverage, look at alignment,
- 5:08Speaker 3: and you make sure the communication's better. That This is
- 5:10Speaker 3: what's training camp for. Like, it's not the end of
- 5:12Speaker 3: the world. It's it's okay. You have some things to
- 5:15Speaker 3: work on and clean up and and correct. But I
- 5:18Speaker 3: I and then day two I thought the secondary rebounded
- 5:21Speaker 3: really well. I actually that was because what I've learned
- 5:25Speaker 3: over the years is you cannot watch everything. It's literally impossible.
- 5:28Speaker 3: You can't. Anyone says they did, they're lying. There's no
- 5:31Speaker 3: reporter could see every prep every play right. What I
- 5:34Speaker 3: do is I have three or four things I want
- 5:35Speaker 3: to look for. The first day was the Eagles offensive
- 5:39Speaker 3: line versus the Patriots defensive line. Eagles offensive line in
- 5:42Speaker 3: the run game is phenomenal, phenomenal, like they the outside
- 5:46Speaker 3: zone stuff was something interesting. Man, you know how like
- 5:49Speaker 3: we were. You know, we've talked about sa Quon and Okay,
- 5:52Speaker 3: how patient's going to be? He's he's he's so urgent
- 5:55Speaker 3: with his running. He was plenty patient in Wednesday's practice
- 5:59Speaker 3: like that was not a problem. So overall, yeah, overall,
- 6:03Speaker 3: the run game looks good. Now again, we're not going
- 6:05Speaker 3: to know truly with the offensive line till the regular
- 6:07Speaker 3: season starts. Yeah, I'm not not playing in the preseason.
- 6:11Speaker 3: But yet getting physical and the the uh the joint practice.
- 6:15Speaker 3: You could see some things, but you're truly not going
- 6:17Speaker 3: to know when team's good game plan, you know for you,
- 6:20Speaker 3: but just getting started, I thought the offense had its
- 6:23Speaker 3: moments and then it was good. Lodgen Moore on Wednesday's
- 6:26Speaker 3: practice he had some neck issues so he didn't practice.
- 6:30Speaker 3: And they're down so many receivers. You're going to get
- 6:33Speaker 3: guys who probably would never get any reps more than
- 6:35Speaker 3: the third team, like Ques Watkins was getting reps. Okay,
- 6:39Speaker 3: Hollywood Brown on Thursday, I had a really good practice,
- 6:42Speaker 3: particularly in the red zone, which is interesting because yes,
- 6:45Speaker 3: they were down a bunch of receivers, so someone's got
- 6:47Speaker 3: to do it. And he just dominated. I don't know
- 6:50Speaker 3: him like that, like that's not been his deal, but
- 6:52Speaker 3: you know what, it worked.
- 6:54Speaker 2: Oh, that's good.
- 6:55Speaker 1: We've seen quite a bit going back to Patrick Robinson,
- 6:57Speaker 1: not to suggest that Hollywood Brown was having a miserable camp,
- 7:01Speaker 1: but some guys pick it up over the last week
- 7:03Speaker 1: or two and it really carries into the regular season.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Sometimes it's it's a nothing burger, So it's no, but
- 7:08Speaker 1: it is good to see because that's a guy that
- 7:10Speaker 1: you know, they were kind of relying on to get
- 7:13Speaker 1: some snaps in there and be a part of the
- 7:14Speaker 1: receiving corps.
- 7:15Speaker 2: And with Lemon out it is important.
- 7:19Speaker 3: Yeah. And the thing with Hollywood Brown is Andrew and
- 7:23Speaker 3: I were talking about we just have not seen the
- 7:25Speaker 3: downfield passing game with him.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Yeah, it's nobody has.
- 7:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't not. It doesn't mean they won't do
- 7:32Speaker 3: in the regular season. It's just kind of surprising that
- 7:35Speaker 3: we haven't seen it.
- 7:36Speaker 1: A couple other we discussed that you nailed this on
- 7:40Speaker 1: the head when they signed him, that despite the blazing
- 7:43Speaker 1: speed that he ran at the combine, no offense that
- 7:45Speaker 1: he's ever been in, whether it's Baltimore or Arizona or
- 7:48Speaker 1: Kansas City, has been able to tap into him as
- 7:50Speaker 1: a true DeShawn Jackson like vertical threat.
- 7:53Speaker 2: He's actually been a good.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Receiver on overs and other routes, and he's actually pretty
- 7:57Speaker 1: been effective in the red zone if you look at
- 7:59Speaker 1: his career, which is stranger because he's not a big guy,
- 8:01Speaker 1: but he has not been that type of receiver that
- 8:06Speaker 1: you would have imagined because of the size and the speed.
- 8:09Speaker 3: Like Baltimore did early in his career. I was gonna
- 8:12Speaker 3: tried really after Lamar. It's just it's also the quarterbacks
- 8:17Speaker 3: you're playing with. That that's true. Yeah, that's a big thing.
- 8:21Speaker 3: If guys can't drive the ball down film and Mahomes could,
- 8:23Speaker 3: but then he got hurt, right, But I'm interested to
- 8:27Speaker 3: see what happens because they got it and hurts his
- 8:31Speaker 3: downsfield harm is so good. You gotta do it. Come on,
- 8:34Speaker 3: I know it's West Coast, you gotta do it. Come on,
- 8:36Speaker 3: it's ridiculous, right, so h but look, I know fans
- 8:41Speaker 3: were really I mean, boy, they were crushing Eli Stowers
- 8:45Speaker 3: on our YouTube comments. Yeah yeah, shame on us for
- 8:52Speaker 3: we talked about a ton about hours but not enough.
- 8:54Speaker 3: Apparently you get to throw the people. He's undersized. Okay,
- 8:58Speaker 3: he's an athlete. Mm hmm. This is he only played
- 9:01Speaker 3: tight end three years in college. Okay, Eagles knew this.
- 9:04Speaker 3: Everybody in the NFL knew this. His workout numbers are great. Athleticism,
- 9:09Speaker 3: athleticism off tape is very good. But he's got to
- 9:11Speaker 3: build up, got a bulk up. It's going to take
- 9:14Speaker 3: some time. Relax, Trey McBride. I mean, what's the tight
- 9:20Speaker 3: end's name for the Cardinals, Trey McBride. You said it,
- 9:24Speaker 3: Trey McBride. He did not play a lot as a rookie.
- 9:27Speaker 3: He needed to fill out. Now he had played tight
- 9:28Speaker 3: end in a lot longer than Stowers did, but then
- 9:32Speaker 3: he became a stud.
- 9:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:33Speaker 3: I'm not saying Stowers won't do anything your one. Just
- 9:36Speaker 3: have realistic expectations.
- 9:39Speaker 1: I know, Jimmy Graham, right, Jimmy Graham, we've kind of
- 9:42Speaker 1: talked about him being more of a wide receiver than
- 9:44Speaker 1: a tight end coming out of.
- 9:47Speaker 3: Miami.
- 9:47Speaker 2: It was like he was a fine by the Saints.
- 9:49Speaker 3: He was also a best player. Yeah, right.
- 9:51Speaker 2: He had a very modest rookie year, thirty one catches.
- 9:54Speaker 1: I looked it up, three hundred and fifty six yards,
- 9:57Speaker 1: five touchdowns, and I would imagine if I went through
- 9:59Speaker 1: the game logs, lookie a lot of those catches that
- 10:02Speaker 1: started from October November December early on, I would think
- 10:05Speaker 1: he didn't have as much of an impact because, like
- 10:08Speaker 1: you're saying, you've got to be able to do, you
- 10:09Speaker 1: got to learn the game. In fact, I'm going through
- 10:12Speaker 1: his rookie year right now. The first five weeks you
- 10:15Speaker 1: have one target, no catches. So I'm not trying to
- 10:18Speaker 1: do apples to apples because there was a little bit
- 10:20Speaker 1: of a freakish nature to Jimmy Grahant being six six
- 10:22Speaker 1: x seven.
- 10:23Speaker 2: But the point is neither could block.
- 10:24Speaker 1: There are athletes, and it took them a little bit
- 10:26Speaker 1: to get acclimated.
- 10:27Speaker 2: That's just gonna happen.
- 10:29Speaker 3: Yeah, and McBride was who was also a second round pick,
- 10:34Speaker 3: and he got paid big time because he put up
- 10:36Speaker 3: massive numbers, you know, after his slow start. Yeah, coaches
- 10:41Speaker 3: kind of know, coaches always know what they have. They
- 10:44Speaker 3: know what the tape looked like, they know what that
- 10:46Speaker 3: the scouting reports were from the you know there's the
- 10:49Speaker 3: scouting department.
- 10:51Speaker 2: Yep.
- 10:51Speaker 3: They know this is a long term process with his player.
- 10:53Speaker 3: You know. So we know Johnny months the two. That's
- 10:57Speaker 3: not up to debate that he's the two. It's obvious.
- 10:59Speaker 2: Yeah too, I agree with you. We used to have
- 11:01Speaker 2: that conversation.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Can you get away with, like, you know, cutting having
- 11:06Speaker 1: that agreement where he's on the practice squad so you
- 11:08Speaker 1: could you could go a little deeper somewhere.
- 11:10Speaker 2: I don't.
- 11:11Speaker 1: I don't think at this point you can afford to
- 11:13Speaker 1: not have Johnny Munt on your team unless he's so
- 11:17Speaker 1: wowed by but I mean on your fifty three, unless
- 11:20Speaker 1: they're so wowed by cam lottery, which.
- 11:22Speaker 2: It doesn't doesn't. He's not getting that kind of opportunity
- 11:24Speaker 2: that you know he's not.
- 11:26Speaker 3: Yeah, it's funny, Andrew, and Andrew and I were talking
- 11:28Speaker 3: about that Wednesday because we're going over some final fifty
- 11:32Speaker 3: three thoughts and Okay, so we know it's Goddard, Munt
- 11:36Speaker 3: and Stowers are absolutely on the team. Now you've got
- 11:40Speaker 3: and you had brought this up, and Andrew brought this up.
- 11:42Speaker 3: I know you and I had this conversation with it
- 11:44Speaker 3: about a week ago, probably doing a show. What if
- 11:46Speaker 3: God it got hurt? What's the plan? Well, ideally you'd
- 11:50Speaker 3: like Stowers to be the move tight end. Well, is
- 11:52Speaker 3: he really ready to do that? Right? That's why you
- 11:55Speaker 3: got to have Calcatari here. I know fans don't want
- 11:57Speaker 3: to hear that. I know they don't like it. And
- 12:00Speaker 3: the Eagles have not shown the willingness. Even though lots
- 12:03Speaker 3: two is an excellent blocker and special teams player, they've
- 12:05Speaker 3: not shown him in the passing game at all that
- 12:08Speaker 3: he's been here.
- 12:09Speaker 1: It surprises me a little bit because we know from
- 12:11Speaker 1: talking to Greg and just watching his Alabama he made
- 12:14Speaker 1: big plays down the seams at Alabama more than once
- 12:17Speaker 1: or twice.
- 12:18Speaker 2: I mean, he was a weapon there.
- 12:20Speaker 1: But he's got to have that operat He's gotta only
- 12:22Speaker 1: show it at the NFL level. But I do want
- 12:24Speaker 1: to say, let's there's still like two to three weeks
- 12:27Speaker 1: before season opener, and we always see a lot of
- 12:29Speaker 1: movement the.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Team.
- 12:33Speaker 1: After each preseason game, you always see a little bit,
- 12:35Speaker 1: you get a little more clues as to what's going
- 12:37Speaker 1: on in the coach's mind once you start practice after
- 12:40Speaker 1: a preseason game, So maybe we'll see some some different
- 12:43Speaker 1: things there.
- 12:43Speaker 2: But I agree with you, and I think tight end
- 12:46Speaker 2: is real.
- 12:47Speaker 1: I mean, they're at a serious issue if Goddar is
- 12:51Speaker 1: to get hurt, because then they are so telegraphic. They
- 12:53Speaker 1: only have one dimensional blockers or one dimensional pass catchers.
- 12:56Speaker 1: They do not have anybody who can get out there
- 12:59Speaker 1: in twelve personnel and be that wide tight end who
- 13:02Speaker 1: can also catch. Nobody loves grilling more than me. Could
- 13:05Speaker 1: be thirty degrees and I'll be out there grilling burgers
- 13:08Speaker 1: and steaks. But the one thing that I really can't
- 13:11Speaker 1: stand is losing my fish and my veggies because they
- 13:14Speaker 1: just can't grill without falling through. That's why I've been
- 13:18Speaker 1: using xclads BBQ collection. It's bringing hybrid technology outdoors with
- 13:24Speaker 1: products specifically designed to make grilling easier, especially when you're
- 13:28Speaker 1: cooking foods that normally don't cooperate on a traditional grill.
- 13:31Speaker 1: The hex Clad BBU grill Plan combines the searing power
- 13:35Speaker 1: of stainless steel, the durability of cast iron, and the
- 13:39Speaker 1: convenience of nonstick all in one versatile grill pan.
- 13:42Speaker 2: They've also launched.
- 13:43Speaker 1: Their new BBQ grill topper that gives you even more
- 13:46Speaker 1: control when you're cooking delicate foods like veggies or seafood,
- 13:50Speaker 1: or if you're cooking multiple portions at one time. Last week,
- 13:53Speaker 1: I grilled the best surf and turf my style, which
- 13:56Speaker 1: is salmon and ribs, and lost none of it because
- 14:00Speaker 1: as I used Xclouds BBQ collection. With over one million
- 14:04Speaker 1: customers and more than fifty thousand five star reviews, it's
- 14:07Speaker 1: clear people love.
- 14:08Speaker 2: Cooking with xclad.
- 14:10Speaker 1: There's a reason Gordon Ramsey uses xclad at his home
- 14:13Speaker 1: and in his restaurants, and he's the toughest critic on
- 14:16Speaker 1: the planet. So if you're planning on spending time behind

- 14:42Speaker 1: Him know we sent you as i've gotten older, I've
- 14:45Speaker 1: really tried to concentrate on my physical health, my body,
- 14:48Speaker 1: making sure I'm putting the right things in and the
- 14:51Speaker 1: healthiest things in. I've always heard about creatine, but I
- 14:54Speaker 1: wasn't really sure about using creatine supplements until I did
- 14:58Speaker 1: the research to find out what it was real all about.
- 15:01Speaker 1: That's when I found Momentous, which created Signature Spec Creatine,
- 15:05Speaker 1: their most advanced creatine ever, setting a new standard for
- 15:10Speaker 1: creatine quality. It's one of the only creatines to be
- 15:13Speaker 1: manufactured in a pharmaceutical facility using reverse osmosis water purification
- 15:18Speaker 1: and verified through an expanded six stage testing process with
- 15:22Speaker 1: four independent agencies. They've improved the product experience with ultrafine
- 15:27Speaker 1: powder that mixes effortlessly with no.
- 15:30Speaker 2: Grit or clumping.
- 15:31Speaker 1: Hey, look, I like a good creatine shake in the afternoon,
- 15:35Speaker 1: and it's got to taste good and be smooth. The
- 15:37Speaker 1: benefits of creatine are very real. It supports strength, power,
- 15:42Speaker 1: lean muscle growth, recovery, and even improve cognitive performance. And
- 15:46Speaker 1: as I get older, all of those things are so
- 15:48Speaker 1: much more important to me than they used to be.
- 15:51Speaker 1: If you want to try Momentous Signature Spec Creatine head
- 15:54Speaker 1: to livemomentous dot com and use code birds for up
- 15:58Speaker 1: to thirty five percent all your entire first order. That's

- 16:14Speaker 1: somebody just that you need it in this offense.
- 16:17Speaker 3: Well, here's the problem you're speaking about a problem in
- 16:20Speaker 3: the league. It's extremely difficult to get two way players
- 16:23Speaker 3: like Goddard right, and Eagles didn't know that about god
- 16:25Speaker 3: Goddard wasn't asked to block at South Dakota State. You know,
- 16:28Speaker 3: he just he was not right. And he came in
- 16:31Speaker 3: as a rookie and he's he's a big dude. He
- 16:34Speaker 3: should have pretty significant willingness to do this like usually, hey,
- 16:37Speaker 3: I'll do it. And he did it and it became
- 16:39Speaker 3: a really good two way player. It's all fair. It's
- 16:42Speaker 3: just and you don't want to plan for injuries. But
- 16:45Speaker 3: I you know, both of you guys brought it up.
- 16:48Speaker 3: You're absolutely right. It's I'm just telling Calcutara is probably
- 16:51Speaker 3: going to be here one way or the other, whether
- 16:53Speaker 3: he's on the fifty three or they they go to
- 16:55Speaker 3: him and the agent and say, hey, listen, we have
- 16:57Speaker 3: a numbers problem. We want him here sixty nine men roster.
- 17:02Speaker 3: Would you be willing to do a practice spoud contract?
- 17:04Speaker 3: Maybe they guaranteed for the season. He's goied by the way,
- 17:07Speaker 3: half of his salary is guaranteed. It's not not a
- 17:09Speaker 3: lot of money. It's it's I think they're guaranteed maybe
- 17:12Speaker 3: seven or eight hundred grand, but it's a it's it's
- 17:14Speaker 3: an interesting dilemma. This is the hardest in our nine
- 17:17Speaker 3: years of our company. Yeah, I think it to accurately
- 17:22Speaker 3: predict the fifty three because a lot of guys have flashed,
- 17:26Speaker 3: then they go dormant, someone else does something, So it's
- 17:31Speaker 3: it's not going to be easy.
- 17:32Speaker 1: Yeah, no doubt about it, all right, defense, Yeah, I know.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Riqu Willen was a big conversation topic for you and
- 17:39Speaker 1: Andrew after the first day of practice just in general.
- 17:42Speaker 2: Though over the two days.
- 17:44Speaker 3: Better he was better. Yeah, he was better the second day. Okay,
- 17:47Speaker 3: it's it's you know, going we do inside football stuff here.
- 17:51Speaker 3: The thing that he's going to have a problem with,
- 17:53Speaker 3: and we sold on the Crossers is slowing throttling down
- 17:57Speaker 3: slowing up and turning. It's it's tough when you're long.
- 18:00Speaker 3: He's six foot four, he's tough. Now, Richard Truman did it.
- 18:03Speaker 3: He's six four and they did. Uh, they did a
- 18:07Speaker 3: lot of match coverage over the years. So and he's like,
- 18:10Speaker 3: he hasn't done it, but you saw some limitations with him,
- 18:13Speaker 3: and then.
- 18:14Speaker 1: I think they also carried a lot of pressman that
- 18:17Speaker 1: helped him out to get those early jams that I
- 18:19Speaker 1: would remember when.
- 18:19Speaker 2: The Seahawks played that, and it would oh, it would help.
- 18:23Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:23Speaker 2: It doesn't always do that though, That's why he doesn't off.
- 18:27Speaker 3: Yeah, Now, truth be told, not that the Gate the
- 18:30Speaker 3: Patriots are game planning. I know they weren't, but they
- 18:32Speaker 3: just faced him in the Super Bowl because they kind
- 18:34Speaker 3: of know who he is, of course, and and they
- 18:38Speaker 3: got Cony on once. But well I'm not talking about
- 18:42Speaker 3: the deep ball where Conyon held twice mm hmm. You
- 18:45Speaker 3: can see the video he did.
- 18:46Speaker 2: He did, but.
- 18:48Speaker 3: It's just we'll see I mean, and it's not like
- 18:52Speaker 3: the uh, the Eagles opponents could see what we're talking about.
- 18:56Speaker 3: They don't get access to it, and the Patriots cannot
- 18:58Speaker 3: share that. The Patriots and Eagles were not a lot
- 18:59Speaker 3: of that. The practice tip with anybody. They can keep it,
- 19:02Speaker 3: but they can't share it. So but we'll see what happens.
- 19:06Speaker 3: He I hate to say this, but I'm going to
- 19:09Speaker 3: say it. How Willan does we'll explain how good the
- 19:13Speaker 3: Eagles defense is this season. I think he is. I
- 19:17Speaker 3: know Grenard's is a sore point for people. I get
- 19:20Speaker 3: that that's not good with him. But the Eagles at
- 19:22Speaker 3: least have depth because have nowhere to go at corner
- 19:24Speaker 3: if well they do. But Vic doesn't really want to
- 19:27Speaker 3: put Coop back there, right, he'll I know, he'll do
- 19:30Speaker 3: what he's got to do. We know that he'll if
- 19:31Speaker 3: he fixed Coops needs to go back there and we'll's
- 19:33Speaker 3: not playing well, then he does it. Yeah, but they didn't.
- 19:36Speaker 3: They're not paying Wollen twelve million not to be a
- 19:38Speaker 3: good player. So I really needs to do this. And
- 19:42Speaker 3: we'll see what happens. But it's a major, major story
- 19:45Speaker 3: is Wollan's performance, particularly early on the season. H Rams
- 19:51Speaker 3: come in, they can do all sorts of things. We
- 19:53Speaker 3: see you know Washington with Daniels, who's an elite processor.
- 19:58Speaker 3: And we'll talk more about the closure of the season.
- 19:59Speaker 3: But it's a big storyline for me. Woollan's performance early
- 20:02Speaker 3: in the season.
- 20:03Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, cool hol anything else defensively I jump
- 20:06Speaker 1: out to you. Whether it's linebackers or edges.
- 20:08Speaker 3: Yeah, a couple a couple of things here. Oh, by
- 20:11Speaker 3: the way, I didn't mention this. I love watching Willie
- 20:13Speaker 3: Lampkin sixty one. I gotta tell you. I know it's
- 20:17Speaker 3: I'm putting them on my fifty three just because he
- 20:20Speaker 3: could play center and guard. He's so strong. I understand
- 20:25Speaker 3: the he doesn't have ideal lanth This is why he
- 20:27Speaker 3: wasn't treefting. Most teams don't want him on this roster,
- 20:29Speaker 3: on the roster because he's too small. Right, But and
- 20:33Speaker 3: it's I don't know if any maybe you know, of
- 20:38Speaker 3: last twenty years, any less than five foot eleven offensive
- 20:42Speaker 3: lineman as any ever any ever played in the NFL.
- 20:45Speaker 1: I would I'd never I would love to have taken
- 20:48Speaker 1: an actual tape measure to Nickole because he was pretty
- 20:51Speaker 1: close to it.
- 20:52Speaker 3: But yeah, he his cast are huge. He was he
- 20:55Speaker 3: was a built like a fire hundrant man. He's something
- 21:00Speaker 3: else and he the thing is with him. I know
- 21:03Speaker 3: he's got short arms, but you can't move like I
- 21:05Speaker 3: saw him engage, you know, the Patriots defensive line, and
- 21:09Speaker 3: he held it like he whatever it's legal to hold,
- 21:12Speaker 3: like whatever the technique is. Yep, he's like the ay
- 21:15Speaker 3: moving him. I was like, this is pretty cool.
- 21:17Speaker 1: He You know how Greg Cosel always talks about a
- 21:20Speaker 1: certain type of quarterback, right like he said about McKee,
- 21:22Speaker 1: where you've had to play that way all your life.
- 21:25Speaker 1: McKee is a He's not gonna be running around, so
- 21:28Speaker 1: he has to play with timing. And so Willie Lampkin
- 21:32Speaker 1: has never been tall, obviously, and I believe because he
- 21:35Speaker 1: has been that way, he's understood how to use his hands.
- 21:39Speaker 2: He understood his leverage.
- 21:40Speaker 1: Low man wins, how to leverage and offensive line coaches
- 21:44Speaker 1: always used that term like build a house, like in
- 21:46Speaker 1: a confined space where you've got to have your right
- 21:48Speaker 1: symmetry between your hands and your feet, and he has it,
- 21:52Speaker 1: and he has a down pat and I do think
- 21:54Speaker 1: in some strange way, being that short and compact helped
- 21:58Speaker 1: him with that.
- 21:59Speaker 2: He has a lower center her gravity, and.
- 22:01Speaker 1: He's always had to play that way as opposed to
- 22:05Speaker 1: some people who might be trying out different thing or
- 22:06Speaker 1: long armed guys like Mark Obell so it doesn't surprise
- 22:10Speaker 1: me that he's really that much of a technician. The
- 22:12Speaker 1: question is, can he if you had to have him
- 22:14Speaker 1: start because you had an injury or two, right, and
- 22:16Speaker 1: he's going up against like real NFL Pro Bowl style
- 22:20Speaker 1: three techniques for consecutive weeks.
- 22:24Speaker 2: Will can he hold them up like that? That's the
- 22:26Speaker 2: only question I have.
- 22:27Speaker 3: But they about it right if he had to play,
- 22:30Speaker 3: because again, any one of your fifty three, the word
- 22:32Speaker 3: with personnel people is you believe that they could come
- 22:35Speaker 3: in and play. Now that's it's relative to how many
- 22:39Speaker 3: snaps you're talking about. Oh yeah, he could play five snaps? Well,
- 22:42Speaker 3: could he start? That's a different story, right, And that's
- 22:44Speaker 3: why they're backups.
- 22:46Speaker 1: But Mike, so you would have four concrete backups in
- 22:50Speaker 1: Fred Taylor, Mark l Bell, Drew Kendall, and Willie Lampkin.
- 22:54Speaker 2: And there's probably room for one more guy. If I
- 22:58Speaker 2: know you guys liked.
- 23:01Speaker 3: Was that John o Juku's got to pectoral injury and
- 23:04Speaker 3: injury the injury, I mean he Yeah, it's it's Fred Johnson,
- 23:08Speaker 3: it's Drew Kendall. I told his dad Pete, remember him
- 23:12Speaker 3: from the Seahawks and the Jets. Yeah, he was there.
- 23:14Speaker 3: He's boy, he's taller than his son forget. Oh yeah, yeah,
- 23:17Speaker 3: Now Jake Majors. Okay, so it's Fred Johnson, it's Drew Kendall, Lampkin,
- 23:25Speaker 3: and and Belle. That's that's nine mm hmm. Now does
- 23:29Speaker 3: Michael Morris make it? That's a tough call there. Jake
- 23:32Speaker 3: Majors has been a good story backup guard center. Does
- 23:35Speaker 3: not have the measurables. He does not have the arm length.
- 23:38Speaker 1: I mean, if it comes down to those two, you
- 23:40Speaker 1: know how he's gonna go with the draft pick who's
- 23:43Speaker 1: more fitted for the position with the longer arms than
- 23:45Speaker 1: the athletics Lampkin.
- 23:47Speaker 3: See, I'm putting Lampkin.
- 23:49Speaker 2: So I'm gonna yeah, yeah, I'm with you on those four.
- 23:53Speaker 1: It was just like, if they keep a tenth guy
- 23:54Speaker 1: between Majors and Morris, it would probably be Morris.
- 23:58Speaker 3: Let me ask you this question, because you're asking me
- 24:01Speaker 3: about defense, now, where would you go heavy knowing the
- 24:04Speaker 3: injury situations now and the issue with eighty seven stours
- 24:10Speaker 3: clearly not being ready to play a full time role.
- 24:12Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I think Vic sort of gave as he
- 24:15Speaker 1: usually does, He gave an honest answer. I mean he's
- 24:18Speaker 1: ready to go with a four man edge rotation instead
- 24:20Speaker 1: of three until Grenard's ready, because he's he said in
- 24:23Speaker 1: the press conference, we got to get who the two backups,
- 24:28Speaker 1: Epanessa and Aka ready and going. They've got to like
- 24:32Speaker 1: he said that they are having good camps, but and
- 24:34Speaker 1: then they have to continue to ramp it up without Grenard.
- 24:37Speaker 1: So it made me think that in his mind he's
- 24:39Speaker 1: seeing a four man rotation at least to start the year.
- 24:42Speaker 2: Off until is back. And I agree, we've agreed.
- 24:45Speaker 1: We thought it would be nice to have that even
- 24:47Speaker 1: with Grenard healthy, but now without you definitely need that well.
- 24:51Speaker 3: And he did say, you know they got Epanessa in
- 24:55Speaker 3: the first Preeceson gave you. They went after him. Ravens
- 24:57Speaker 3: did because he's not a coverage player. He has to
- 24:59Speaker 3: learn because you have to cover the flat and mix defense,
- 25:02Speaker 3: and he's learning. He said it was actually good that
- 25:04Speaker 3: it happened. Yeah, yeah, I Vic was not in rare form.
- 25:09Speaker 3: He was himself.
- 25:09Speaker 2: He just told it.
- 25:10Speaker 3: He told you what he thought. He didn't he didn't
- 25:12Speaker 3: couch anything. Yeah. So yeah, it's my thoughts on this.
- 25:17Speaker 3: On defense, are we know Jonathan Jones is technically a
- 25:20Speaker 3: third corner. They don't have a fourth corner. They don't
- 25:22Speaker 3: know who it is, and a lot of guys who
- 25:25Speaker 3: are Jones. Jones was in Jersey and they didn't he
- 25:27Speaker 3: didn't wear anything else. Matt McWilliams clearly is not the
- 25:31Speaker 3: fourth who could play nickel or corner. Bennett's hurt, Ambry
- 25:36Speaker 3: Thomas is like a fifth corner. Sean Way was hurt.
- 25:38Speaker 3: One of the other two guys was hurt, and they
- 25:39Speaker 3: brought an Isiah bolt in, the former Patriot who's also tall.
- 25:42Speaker 3: He was, by the way, they finally have size a corner. Boy.
- 25:44Speaker 3: They have a lot of guys are six feet are taller.
- 25:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:47Speaker 1: Interesting, So I think it's fair to say we had
- 25:49Speaker 1: this conversation. They really don't have a third or a
- 25:51Speaker 1: fourth corner because at this point, the fact finding on
- 25:55Speaker 1: Jonathan Jones has been stunted for over a week now,
- 25:59Speaker 1: and who knows when he's gonna be back. And he
- 26:02Speaker 1: can just make the team because one day he's healthy,
- 26:04Speaker 1: if he misses three weeks or four weeks, he'll be
- 26:07Speaker 1: He'll be on there. He'll be on the team, right
- 26:09Speaker 1: but maybe not as the number three. I don't know
- 26:10Speaker 1: if they can trust him as the number three. You
- 26:12Speaker 1: may see how they need on your front.
- 26:14Speaker 3: They need to see him on the field, they need
- 26:15Speaker 3: to get what you're saying is they need to get
- 26:17Speaker 3: a feel for where he's at right, you know, So
- 26:21Speaker 3: that that's an issue.
- 26:23Speaker 1: And there's always the the gene element of if we
- 26:26Speaker 1: really need if we get an injury at corner, whether
- 26:28Speaker 1: it's Mitchell or Onolle and where Jones isn't ready or
- 26:30Speaker 1: we're not confident, but we'd like how Michael Carter.
- 26:33Speaker 2: Has played, and he's played well, then we.
- 26:35Speaker 1: Can play the jine at outside corner and then get
- 26:38Speaker 1: Carter in that safety spot along with Makuba and and
- 26:42Speaker 1: Epps in that rotation.
- 26:43Speaker 3: Yeah, on that point, clearly the starter. It's I'm probably
- 26:48Speaker 3: gonna want to be in wrong. I thought Carter was
- 26:49Speaker 3: going to beat him out. I really did that. That's
- 26:52Speaker 3: one I'd like to have.
- 26:52Speaker 2: Well, I don't.
- 26:53Speaker 3: I don't think I think my thought process was right.
- 26:56Speaker 3: I just thought it would be way closer. I mean,
- 26:58Speaker 3: he picked it. Say it's still it's still up in
- 27:00Speaker 3: the air. But I just thought that with Carter's he's
- 27:05Speaker 3: a better athlete, he's younger. He did play it in college.
- 27:09Speaker 3: I just thought, because he's got better ranged. By the way,
- 27:11Speaker 3: as is more of a box safety, Carter moves better. Yeah,
- 27:15Speaker 3: but again we've got two and a half three weeks
- 27:16Speaker 3: until they make that decision. Try to junior fifty four.
- 27:21Speaker 3: He's just he's a stud. He's he had an interception,
- 27:26Speaker 3: he diagnoses Vic talked about it. I thought it was
- 27:29Speaker 3: a great explanation because it was what I was thinking.
- 27:32Speaker 3: His cognitive ability to see it before it happens. It's
- 27:37Speaker 3: just rare. Yep. I know he's smaller than you want,
- 27:40Speaker 3: but so what. Look, he's he's just he's a really
- 27:45Speaker 3: good football player. And if you remember, Cosell liked Trotter's
- 27:50Speaker 3: tape better than then Kobe's in college, just based on college.
- 27:53Speaker 2: Adamant about that just until yeah he so and and
- 27:57Speaker 2: by the way.
- 27:57Speaker 3: Greg's been wall not the Kobe became a study. Look,
- 28:00Speaker 3: Greg was right on Trotter. This kid's a player. As
- 28:02Speaker 3: a fifth round pick, he's just not felt like his dad.
- 28:04Speaker 1: Unfortunately, right, Okay, ten years behind his time. Because we
- 28:09Speaker 1: joked about this and I joked about the interview. If
- 28:11Speaker 1: this guy came along ten years ago, he would have
- 28:13Speaker 1: been probably the third best player of the Eagles defense.
- 28:15Speaker 1: I mean, when's when's the last time Eagles had a
- 28:16Speaker 1: really good off ball linebacker who couldn't make it into
- 28:19Speaker 1: the starting lineup. But I mean, that's that's crazy.
- 28:22Speaker 3: I mean, now, I post this question to Andrew, and
- 28:25Speaker 3: I said it prefaces by saying, I know VIC does
- 28:29Speaker 3: not rotate his iobs Okay, I get that. However, Campbell
- 28:34Speaker 3: played in the preseason game last week, okay, when the
- 28:36Speaker 3: starters didn't. Yes, he's secondly started because he needs the reps.
- 28:42Speaker 3: VIC didn't say it, but I know the way it works.
- 28:45Speaker 3: If Campbell had been having a great training camp, he's
- 28:47Speaker 3: not playing in that game. Despite yes, he was hurt
- 28:50Speaker 3: last year, missed a significant amount of time. I get
- 28:53Speaker 3: that VIC brought that up. That's fine, But if you're
- 28:56Speaker 3: having a good training camp, you're not playing this game.
- 28:57Speaker 3: That's just the way it works, right. So now, like
- 29:01Speaker 3: what I'm saying is, well, let's say Campbell because he's
- 29:03Speaker 3: not instinctive like Trott's. Mhm, is there a way Situationally,
- 29:08Speaker 3: I know it's not what VIC does, but is there
- 29:11Speaker 3: a situation where they can get Trotter and over Campbell.
- 29:14Speaker 3: I I'm trying to wonder what it could be.
- 29:17Speaker 2: But I'm not wrong.
- 29:18Speaker 1: You can do it by moving Bonne onto the line
- 29:22Speaker 1: in like a pass run because they played Bond at
- 29:24Speaker 1: the edge anyway, he's he has a Saints Yeah, oh
- 29:27Speaker 1: yeah right, But you're what you're sacrificing there is like
- 29:31Speaker 1: that would be a pass rush package because you're sacrificing
- 29:33Speaker 1: them in coverage because you have a five man line.
- 29:36Speaker 2: Now you didn't take anybody right with with Bond moving
- 29:39Speaker 2: up and.
- 29:40Speaker 1: Then two lineback off all iyeback are still with Campbell
- 29:42Speaker 1: and Trotter, that's seven, so you only have four defensive backs.
- 29:46Speaker 1: So you better get to a quarterback or else you're
- 29:48Speaker 1: gonna be undermanned in coverage. But you may want to
- 29:52Speaker 1: sacrifice that for having good pass rushers like trot and
- 29:57Speaker 1: Bond and Campbell and your interior guys and your edges
- 30:00Speaker 1: all on the field at one time.
- 30:02Speaker 2: I mean there, there's there's some things that they could
- 30:04Speaker 2: do there.
- 30:04Speaker 3: I'm interested to see what happens because he's he's so good,
- 30:08Speaker 3: he's so disciplined. To me, is a starring linebacker. I
- 30:12Speaker 3: final takeaway from the defense from this week and just recently,
- 30:16Speaker 3: and we talked about the cornerback situation. I don't see
- 30:20Speaker 3: them keeping more than because of Coop playing safety. I
- 30:23Speaker 3: just don't see. I know how to say, I'm done,
- 30:24Speaker 3: it's done some good things. Number thirty one. He had
- 30:27Speaker 3: a pick in one of the two practices. I just
- 30:29Speaker 3: don't see it.
- 30:30Speaker 2: Yeah, he's a guy.
- 30:31Speaker 3: I'm sure they can get through waivers. Yeah, I mean, Carter,
- 30:35Speaker 3: Coop Apps, Makober, your safety is why would you keep
- 30:38Speaker 3: a fifth? JT. Gray is technically safety, but he's special
- 30:40Speaker 3: teams only right ring he is.
- 30:44Speaker 2: He has been doing first team kickoff coverage JT.
- 30:47Speaker 3: Gray, So well he's a special team as.
- 30:49Speaker 2: Oh yeah, but yeah, that's true. You wouldn't put him
- 30:52Speaker 2: on the set. You're right, right.
- 30:53Speaker 1: Doesn't necessarily mean he's gonna be on the fifty three,
- 30:56Speaker 1: but that is a key element.
- 30:58Speaker 2: So we'll say, I don't know, may he makes it well?
- 31:00Speaker 3: Actually with Gray, see, they could play the practice like
- 31:04Speaker 3: the Bucks last season they played the practice squad game
- 31:07Speaker 3: of of elevations for game day. That he goes back
- 31:11Speaker 3: right that that's the way to save roster space. I
- 31:13Speaker 3: mean that's you could. You could absolutely do that. But overall,
- 31:19Speaker 3: even with the Grenard situation, Hunt had a couple of
- 31:22Speaker 3: good days. You got Nolan Smith, you got Ebicatti, you
- 31:26Speaker 3: got Epenesa. They're fine. And Jose Mirros was great. By
- 31:28Speaker 3: the way, in the preseason game. I was told last week,
- 31:33Speaker 3: I know he's a long shot, but he's a guy,
- 31:35Speaker 3: practice squad guy, right, that you can look at. But
- 31:37Speaker 3: the thing is you got to understand. Other teams watched
- 31:41Speaker 3: that tape. That's where you know. That's what I heard.
- 31:43Speaker 3: Someone from another team told me he was He was
- 31:45Speaker 3: great in the Eagles tape. He said, Wow, this small
- 31:47Speaker 3: kid from eastern Michigan could play. Yeah, and he was,
- 31:51Speaker 3: as we mentioned when they brought him in, he was
- 31:52Speaker 3: the the mac player, the defensive player of the year.
- 31:56Speaker 3: So he's an interesting guy. It's it's sort of the
- 32:00Speaker 3: the the defense is rounding into shape terms of roles mostly,
- 32:04Speaker 3: but the pecking orders the issue. And I'm also interested
- 32:09Speaker 3: tomorrow does Jahad play in this game? Does Jahad play?
- 32:14Speaker 1: That would be interesting and tell tale All right, let's
- 32:19Speaker 1: get to this game then and talk about some who's
- 32:21Speaker 1: important for But I do I do want.
- 32:22Speaker 2: To put a bow and say something.
- 32:23Speaker 1: You said something really important that I want our audience
- 32:26Speaker 1: to understand because the idea. I've always felt this way,
- 32:29Speaker 1: and I'm glad you said it. The idea of winning
- 32:32Speaker 1: and losing a joint practice. It's not even to me
- 32:37Speaker 1: a rational discussion because of what you said. The teams
- 32:41Speaker 1: they'll tell you that it's scripted and controlled, and it is,
- 32:43Speaker 1: and they're running plays that they've scripted, but they are
- 32:45Speaker 1: not running plays against dispos specifically against the opponent they're facing.
- 32:52Speaker 1: You said, they're not game planning against each other. It's
- 32:55Speaker 1: really just our guys versus your guys. Our guys running
- 32:58Speaker 1: our plays, your guys running your play. Sometimes you're gonna
- 33:00Speaker 1: all play to see something out of your guys that's
- 33:02Speaker 1: not necessarily great for the defensive look, but you're gonna
- 33:06Speaker 1: run in anyone. You just want to see the block
- 33:07Speaker 1: and you want to see individuals how they carry out
- 33:10Speaker 1: their assignment. So it doesn't matter, I mean, the whole
- 33:13Speaker 1: winning and losing on people get so up and armed
- 33:15Speaker 1: about it.
- 33:16Speaker 2: It don't matter.
- 33:18Speaker 3: It doesn't, but it did happen. I remember the Browns
- 33:21Speaker 3: talking to them, so I think in twenty two the
- 33:24Speaker 3: Eagles were in Bria, he was absolutely picked their ass
- 33:26Speaker 3: It was obvious.
- 33:27Speaker 2: Right, But that's because they had so much more talent
- 33:29Speaker 2: than the brain.
- 33:31Speaker 3: The Browns remember that, and I remember talking to them
- 33:33Speaker 3: and I don't want to call it game, but they
- 33:36Speaker 3: remembered it, and they made sure that they brought the
- 33:38Speaker 3: energy and they they wanted to make sure they want
- 33:41Speaker 3: some things. Yeah, and I asked us, sad do you
- 33:43Speaker 3: guys do I remember talking to one of the coaches
- 33:45Speaker 3: coming off the fee goes. I think he goes. I'll
- 33:47Speaker 3: watch the tape. But I think we even it up
- 33:49Speaker 3: this time because in their home, the fans were not
- 33:53Speaker 3: allowed in for that one that they might there might
- 33:55Speaker 3: have been fifty season ticket holders, but there was nothing.
- 33:57Speaker 3: There was really knowing there, right, and they felt just
- 34:00Speaker 3: embarrassed because you just mentioned it. The Eagles roster was
- 34:03Speaker 3: all star. Yeah. And I talked to this former NFL
- 34:06Speaker 3: head coach who was also a coordinator the league, and
- 34:09Speaker 3: he was doing a trend camp tour and I said,
- 34:11Speaker 3: what do you think, coach, he goes, that's a super
- 34:13Speaker 3: Bowl team. I've told this story before and I was like,
- 34:16Speaker 3: how do you know he goes. I could tell uh huh,
- 34:18Speaker 3: like there he goes. The roster's great. Their execution is ridiculous.
- 34:22Speaker 3: And this was Nex's second year and Nick. I'm not
- 34:26Speaker 3: saying Nick doesn't get animated, but he I think when
- 34:31Speaker 3: Andy did this, you know this, when Andy came in,
- 34:33Speaker 3: he would go off a little bit like he would coach,
- 34:35Speaker 3: like he would let it be known, Hey, this is
- 34:37Speaker 3: what we're doing, and you're gonna do it my way.
- 34:39Speaker 3: And Nick was Nick got after it a little bit,
- 34:42Speaker 3: and I just was marveled at this. Coach tells me, Oh,
- 34:45Speaker 3: this is a super Bowl team. I mean, this is
- 34:47Speaker 3: and I'm like coming teams we've seen, oh probably half
- 34:49Speaker 3: the league. This this team is really good. Okay, thank
- 34:52Speaker 3: you good, It's great.
- 34:53Speaker 2: It's good stuff.
- 34:54Speaker 4: I know how I feel when I wake up in
- 34:56Speaker 4: the morning. I have so many things on my mind.
- 34:59Speaker 5: I can't get any this done until I have my
- 35:01Speaker 5: first cup of coffee. I know a lot of you
- 35:03Speaker 5: feel the same way. You either need that coffee, that

- 36:37Speaker 2: Hey, Philly fans. Game day is stressful enough.

- 37:35Speaker 1: one and up.
- 37:36Speaker 2: All right, So for this game Saturday against the Patriots,
- 37:40Speaker 2: we'll be at to Lett Stadium there. I think it's
- 37:43Speaker 2: important for the quarterbacks.
- 37:44Speaker 1: I mean, especially coming off that awful first game against
- 37:47Speaker 1: the Ravens. Again, you don't put much into it, but
- 37:49Speaker 1: you do want to see your offense function better. I
- 37:51Speaker 1: think cutting down penalties has to be a big key
- 37:54Speaker 1: to because there were too many penalties in.
- 37:56Speaker 3: The first all the prestoff stuff. This is something we've
- 37:59Speaker 3: talked about, I don't know, three four years. It's just
- 38:03Speaker 3: saying coaching, if it's happening repeatedly, you're allowing it. That
- 38:06Speaker 3: means you're not coaching it right, and you're not You're
- 38:08Speaker 3: whatever you're doing to reach your players is not working,
- 38:11Speaker 3: and you need to change the way you do it.
- 38:13Speaker 2: M hm.
- 38:14Speaker 3: So yeah, that's one I would say. I'm gonna I'm
- 38:19Speaker 3: gonna keep a watchful eye. In fact, I'm gonna ask
- 38:21Speaker 3: Greg to start watching the those preseason tape because he
- 38:25Speaker 3: did what yeah, oh go, yeah, he did in fact great.
- 38:27Speaker 3: I remember our first show of them for the season start,
- 38:30Speaker 3: we did like a preview, and I asked, I asked
- 38:32Speaker 3: him to watch well because a lot of it had
- 38:34Speaker 3: to do with Darius Cooper because we because there was
- 38:40Speaker 3: no there was no tape on this guy. There's no
- 38:41Speaker 3: All Star game, right, it's hard to you know you
- 38:45Speaker 3: and Greg was like, great, it goes Yeah, this kid's
- 38:48Speaker 3: probably he put its a weight on. He doesn't look
- 38:49Speaker 3: the same, but yeah, so what do I want to
- 38:52Speaker 3: see Michael Jordan. We haven't talked about him a lot,
- 38:54Speaker 3: a lot number seventy nine, the Journeyman guard. We know
- 38:58Speaker 3: about Kendall. We need to learn more about majors see
- 39:01Speaker 3: Markel Bell, Michael Morris. We just talked about Lampkin, pretty
- 39:05Speaker 3: bad about Ojoku? Who Ojuku is? You know he's lined
- 39:09Speaker 3: up a garden tackle like Dave really Cross trained him.
- 39:11Speaker 2: Yep.
- 39:12Speaker 3: And Stowurs. You know what with Stours huge, Let's line
- 39:15Speaker 3: him up as a slot tight end or at the exposition. Well,
- 39:18Speaker 3: let's just see what this guy could do. Let's see
- 39:20Speaker 3: his athleticism. McKee, by the way, threw better in Thursday's practice.
- 39:24Speaker 3: Go good. And then let's if Hollywood Brown's playing, he
- 39:27Speaker 3: should because he goes are down a bunch of receivers.
- 39:29Speaker 3: Could you take a shot play with him? Yeah? One,
- 39:32Speaker 3: give us one.
- 39:33Speaker 2: I agree that I want I want to see Stowers
- 39:34Speaker 2: both ways. I want to see him use the way
- 39:37Speaker 2: to capitalize on the strengths, flex him out, throw them
- 39:39Speaker 2: the ball.
- 39:40Speaker 1: But I also continue to want to see him in line,
- 39:44Speaker 1: maybe as in twelve personnel on the backside of a
- 39:46Speaker 1: of a wide zone, just to get because he needs
- 39:48Speaker 1: that work.
- 39:49Speaker 2: So you just I don't care if it looks bad.
- 39:51Speaker 2: I'm not going to be like surprised, but I mean
- 39:53Speaker 2: he needs.
- 39:53Speaker 3: To work there, yep. And then defensively, I want see
- 40:00Speaker 3: more of a Nolan Smith number three wearing Bryce Harper's number.
- 40:04Speaker 3: Isn't Harper three? Yeah, more of Ty Robinson, who was
- 40:09Speaker 3: phenomenal last week's game. Vic said Vic Vic as he
- 40:14Speaker 3: only could do Ty was on life support. I just
- 40:18Speaker 3: got life.
- 40:18Speaker 2: That was just I was.
- 40:20Speaker 3: I was standing like five feet from him. I looked
- 40:22Speaker 3: at the reporters like did he just say?
- 40:24Speaker 2: Did he really?
- 40:25Speaker 3: I loved it, I mean because he he told the truth,
- 40:28Speaker 3: like he had not had a good training camp and
- 40:30Speaker 3: he kicked ass. And then you know, we haven't talked
- 40:32Speaker 3: about smile mind in much. Number forty two. Yeah, let's
- 40:36Speaker 3: let's keep a watchful eye on him. I know it's
- 40:38Speaker 3: hard if you're not watching coaching people that We'll keep
- 40:40Speaker 3: an eye on him. Let's see the past rush and
- 40:44Speaker 3: could someone could one of the backup corners step up here,
- 40:47Speaker 3: gusha Kin, mac McWilliams, Ambry Thomas, could someone like have
- 40:53Speaker 3: a good game where they could at least play into
- 40:55Speaker 3: the conversation about potentially making the fifty three?
- 40:58Speaker 1: Right, Benet's still out right, Rim was still out yeah
- 41:01Speaker 1: or whatever. And obviously Ringo will get his opportunities, but
- 41:05Speaker 1: we know where, we know where he's.
- 41:06Speaker 3: Although there's so many corners, he might start say he was.
- 41:10Speaker 2: Coming on a little. So that was nice to hear
- 41:12Speaker 2: Vic say that.
- 41:13Speaker 3: Well, honestly, here's the thing. I'm not saying it's gonna happen.
- 41:17Speaker 3: But you've got five backups. We haven't shown anything or
- 41:19Speaker 3: not worthy of being on the team.
- 41:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 41:21Speaker 3: No, Ringo is an elite special teams player, Okay, right,
- 41:25Speaker 3: if they can't find a fourth corner, he might be.
- 41:29Speaker 3: He might be in the I'm just telling you, folks,
- 41:31Speaker 3: I know, I know we're gonna get some daggers thrown
- 41:33Speaker 3: at us.
- 41:33Speaker 2: No, he's not.
- 41:34Speaker 3: He's not a corner.
- 41:36Speaker 2: We get that.
- 41:36Speaker 3: We told you that four years ago.
- 41:37Speaker 2: I know that's funny. It would be the opposite of
- 41:39Speaker 2: the dagger throwers who used to tell us that Ringo
- 41:41Speaker 2: was gonna be great and we're just way off.
- 41:44Speaker 3: But Vic just said it, and Vic, you're gonna do
- 41:47Speaker 3: what you're gonna do. He knows the defense. Yeah, you
- 41:49Speaker 3: don't want him out there, but on the shopping list
- 41:54Speaker 3: for Howie for trades were signed veterans after week one,
- 41:58Speaker 3: so they don't guarantee anyone, you know, for the season.
- 42:02Speaker 3: Corner's got to be on the list, man, This is
- 42:03Speaker 3: just not acceptable. Like if they got what what was it,
- 42:07Speaker 3: twenty four they got away with it, or twenty to
- 42:09Speaker 3: twenty two season they got away with with Rad Burry
- 42:12Speaker 3: and Slight not having quality backup. Yep, we would say
- 42:14Speaker 3: it every week. So I'm better not get hurt and
- 42:16Speaker 3: they didn't. You don't want to be in that situation.
- 42:18Speaker 3: You just don't. They're just need one veteran, a journeyman.
- 42:23Speaker 3: I'm not saying Dory Jackson, but somebody like that. He
- 42:25Speaker 3: just could stick in there if you if you're struggling
- 42:28Speaker 3: with injury, because man, this division, I'm telling you this
- 42:33Speaker 3: finally here of NFC eas is up for grabs. Eagles
- 42:36Speaker 3: are slight favored by the odds makers. I would agree
- 42:38Speaker 3: with that and I'm about you, I'd agree with it. Yeah, yeah,
- 42:40Speaker 3: every slight. The Dallas hype is sickening. We're not even fans,
- 42:43Speaker 3: and this's like I grew up here, so I can't
- 42:46Speaker 3: it's like ridiculous that the hype on the Dallas Yeah.
- 42:49Speaker 1: I mean, if you are talking about upper echelon talent,
- 42:52Speaker 1: blue chip talent, the Cowboys probably have the second most
- 42:55Speaker 1: in the division, but they also probably have the most
- 42:57Speaker 1: starters who probably shouldn't be starting, especially defense, So I
- 43:00Speaker 1: don't know, it drags them down a little bit.
- 43:03Speaker 3: Yeah, but that's it.
- 43:05Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, Well, I think that it's fair to say,
- 43:08Speaker 1: especially after the first joint practice, that the kicker has
- 43:12Speaker 1: got to make all of his kicks, because I think
- 43:14Speaker 1: it made a little people nervous that he missed a
- 43:16Speaker 1: few on what it was Wednesday's practice, right then he
- 43:19Speaker 1: missed a couple.
- 43:21Speaker 3: Yeah, I saw him. Yeah, I just happened to watch him.
- 43:24Speaker 3: He pushed a couple right in a row, two or
- 43:26Speaker 3: three in a row, and then he that it got
- 43:27Speaker 3: and then he got it in. I'm Jake Gallio. It's
- 43:30Speaker 3: kind of had a crossroads mm hmm, like guaranteed money's
- 43:34Speaker 3: expired after the season. Yes, they didn't bring anyone in.
- 43:38Speaker 3: We all said it. Wait, it's I don't agree with it.
- 43:40Speaker 3: It's ridiculous. You just but look, you could always do
- 43:44Speaker 3: it in season. It's nothing good with them for doing it.
- 43:47Speaker 3: But he's I mean, the punished phenomenal man. It's a
- 43:51Speaker 3: great fun by Howie.
- 43:52Speaker 2: But Jake kicks. The Eagles need Elliott to make missed.
- 43:58Speaker 3: Fix fifteen field goals over two, So that's ridiculous.
- 44:01Speaker 2: It's bad. Yeah, all right, So that will all be
- 44:05Speaker 2: under the microscope.
- 44:06Speaker 1: It'll be the second preseason game, and then they'll come
- 44:09Speaker 1: back to South Philly and then the third preseason game
- 44:11Speaker 1: against the Bengals, but no more joint practice as surprisingly
- 44:14Speaker 1: as we get out of here. The Eagles are still
- 44:16Speaker 1: keeping practice open to the media for a couple of days,
- 44:19Speaker 1: even after it used to shut down after the second
- 44:22Speaker 1: preseason game.
- 44:23Speaker 2: But now apparently it's going to be open for a
- 44:25Speaker 2: little bit longer.
- 44:26Speaker 1: So that's good for us, and we will have more
- 44:28Speaker 1: reports from training camp after the preseason game. Next time
- 44:31Speaker 1: you're hearing from us, it'll be me and Adam recapping
- 44:34Speaker 1: what we did see Saturday night in the preseason game.
- 44:36Speaker 1: That'll probably drop either Sunday or Monday morning. That's gonna
- 44:39Speaker 1: do it for this episode of Inside the Birds, the
- 44:41Speaker 1: leading podcast in Eagles Intel, and as always, we thank
- 44:44Speaker 1: you for flying with us Inside Ubber.
