- 0:29SPEAKER_00: Welcome to The Myth of Education Podcast.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: Today, you just have your host, Tiffany B.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: And I have a very important topic I want to get off my chest.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: You've seen the thumbnail.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: You've seen the title.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: Here's the disclaimer that I want to give you.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: This is not about parenting.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: This is about stewardship.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: I'm not telling anyone how to raise their kids.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: What I am doing is telling you the kind of society that I want to live in.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: I don't like a society where government is controlling the minds of the youth and in turn,
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: Parents should be the primary moral influence of their children,
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: not government, not public schools, not their teachers, not their counselors.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: A child's sense of right and wrong should come from there.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: As I will explain throughout this episode,
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: What I mean by pro-parent is that God gives children to parents and therefore,
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: as I have just stated,
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: the greatest influence on a child's life should come through their family.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: Public education is secular, all right, on every level.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: There is nothing crucial.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: You can look at science curriculum.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: It's got gender bender stuff, evolution.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: Public education is anti-Christ.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: It is anti-God.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: It's anti-parental rights, anti-constitution in a lot of ways.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: If you look at the history curriculum, the SKU.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: There's an answer to everything that's biblical in the secular realm.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: That is where public education stands.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: You understand that in times language,
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: everything that is created by man is going to be part of a beast system.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: And the training and the equipping of the minds of children is what union thugs are about.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: It is what all these public institutions are about.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: I do believe that some of the training children are undergoing in school systems is
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: to specifically drive a wedge between the parent-child relationship.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: And you can even find in scripture where Jesus is prophesying that division
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: in families is going to happen.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: He even takes credit for bringing some of that division simply because of people
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: who are going to want to follow him and his word.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: And then there will be those in your own family who don't.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: I do believe that Public schools are very much a communist idea.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: The type of education where you're sending a population through this factory line
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: of testing and assimilation works in a place like China.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: The students over there excel because it's a But we are free people.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: We are constitution people.
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: We are Bible people.
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: Even for the secularists who hate it,
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: you are living in a society that has the effects of Christianity
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: and that's what you're working to destroy.
- 3:37SPEAKER_00: If parents have no choice but to use public education,
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: understand that this is not shaming when it comes to any of I don't think
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: that anybody should be ashamed if they have to use government assistance.
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: What I will say is that I do believe that it should be temporary.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: If it is possible for you to homeschool,
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: private school, micro school, alternatively educate your child.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: At any grade level,
- 4:00SPEAKER_00: the formative years,
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: those young formative years between kindergarten and fifth or sixth grade,
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: you as a parent and as a family want to be able to have that primary influence
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: as you help mold them into the people that you want them to become.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: Handing your child over to someone else at such a young age,
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: I don't think that you should expect anything different than for there
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: to be some competing values.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: I realize that government education makes it easy for you to just queue up at
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: the beginning of the day, And then you go to work and then you queue up afterwards.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: In between that time frame,
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: you're under the impression that your child is learning the things
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: that you would teach them yourself.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: That is a false notion that needs to be broken.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: It is time for parents to wake up.
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: You are not absolved of any responsibility because your child is in public education.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: As a matter of fact,
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: your responsibility is to knowing what they know,
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: learning what they learn, and stewarding their souls, it's actually increased.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: The expectation that you should have on yourself is that you are more present
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: because of the fact that your child is enrolled in and is participating in a There's
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: a lot of common sense that's left on the table when it comes to being a parent
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: and single people with no kids can be an asset to you.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: This is not about I'm here to let you know what His expectations are when it comes to parenting
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: I don't want the education system where your kids are now teachers and they're crazy.
- 5:37SPEAKER_00: Persons like myself who are taxpayers in school districts don't want our money.
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: We're all stakeholders when it comes to education.
- 5:51SPEAKER_00: We're all stakeholders in the future of this nation.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: When people start to understand
- 6:04SPEAKER_00: Now, this is where I can also plug in the American church.
- 6:19SPEAKER_00: The kingdom is not like any of the material garbage.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: The ministries that have multiple buildings,
- 6:26SPEAKER_00: multiple pastors, etc.,
- 6:27SPEAKER_00: you should be opening your doors so that parents have an alternative
- 6:31SPEAKER_00: to secular education.
- 6:32SPEAKER_00: You do know that the world is ending.
- 6:35SPEAKER_00: Equipping kids for the coming of Christ is just as important as learning to read,
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: write, do math.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: Now, secular people, they're going to have a different take.
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: But the fact of the matter is,
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: is that if the Lord tarries and we have another 250 years of this republic,
- 6:49SPEAKER_00: then we We need to uphold the foundations of the nation.
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: America will fall if we become Islamists,
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: if we become communists, if we become like China or like any Middle Eastern country.
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: If we throw our borders open and just let people come across, it will destroy the nation.
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: There is nothing I know that there are a lot of leftists that try to say,
- 7:07SPEAKER_00: Jesus was an immigrant.
- 7:08SPEAKER_00: He fed illegal immigrants.
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: This is misinterpretation and a misreading of scripture.
- 7:13SPEAKER_00: Some may call it progressive Christianity.
- 7:15SPEAKER_00: I think that is an oxymoron.
- 7:17SPEAKER_00: The Lord is not a progressive.
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: What He said in his word, it never changes.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: There is no progression to anything.
- 7:23SPEAKER_00: When it comes to God, what's written in the word is what it is.
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: This book might be ancient in some of its terminologies.
- 7:30SPEAKER_00: However, it's not outdated.
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: It is very much still pertinent to the issues that we are facing today.
- 7:36SPEAKER_00: Nothing new under the sun, the writer of Ecclesiastes says, there's nothing new under the sun.
- 7:41SPEAKER_00: So we still need to be reading the word of God and we need to be getting our morals
- 7:44SPEAKER_00: from God Now,
- 7:46SPEAKER_00: I'm going to start with a passage most people are going to be familiar with,
- 7:50SPEAKER_00: and I'm going to read it from the New Living Translation.
- 7:52SPEAKER_00: This is a verse that people can quote by heart,
- 7:55SPEAKER_00: but then I want to break it down
- 7:56SPEAKER_00: and tell you how we have just messed up our understanding of this verse.
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: Proverbs 22.6 says,
- 8:02SPEAKER_00: Direct your children onto the right path,
- 8:04SPEAKER_00: and when they are older, they will not leave it.
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: There's versions that say, train up a child in the way they should go.
- 8:10SPEAKER_00: When they're old, they won't depart from it.
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: And it's the word train or direct that idolizes.
- 8:15SPEAKER_00: I've looked in the teary eyes of those parents and they've said to me,
- 8:30SPEAKER_00: Well, I am here to suggest to you that if you educated your child outside
- 8:33SPEAKER_00: of your own home,
- 8:34SPEAKER_00: I'm not just talking about public school, I'm talking about private schools.
- 8:45SPEAKER_00: Catholic schools,
- 8:46SPEAKER_00: alternative education of any kind where your child was under the tutelage of someone
- 8:51SPEAKER_00: who has different values than you,
- 8:53SPEAKER_00: regardless of the organization that they claim to represent,
- 8:56SPEAKER_00: that has caused some conflict.
- 9:00SPEAKER_00: I think parents,
- 9:01SPEAKER_00: you have to be honest and say when your kids were younger you're not as wise
- 9:03SPEAKER_00: as what you are now.
- 9:04SPEAKER_00: For those who are Christians maybe you weren't serving
- 9:18SPEAKER_00: If your child is grown and on their own, your work is pretty much done.
- 9:24SPEAKER_00: You now have to wait for the child to come to you to get advice.
- 9:27SPEAKER_00: That is their right.
- 9:28SPEAKER_00: It's their life.
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: They are made in the image of God.
- 9:30SPEAKER_00: They might look like you, but they're not you in some situations.
- 9:33SPEAKER_00: They're not making you proud.
- 9:34SPEAKER_00: They're making all of these decisions you believe to be mistakes.
- 9:37SPEAKER_00: Let them make them.
- 9:38SPEAKER_00: They're adults now.
- 9:39SPEAKER_00: Some of that reflects on you as a parent, but some of it doesn't.
- 9:42SPEAKER_00: Let your child learn from their mistakes.
- 9:44SPEAKER_00: Let them fall.
- 9:45SPEAKER_00: They Transcription by CastingWords
- 10:00SPEAKER_00: And that is not what the scriptures meant.
- 10:03SPEAKER_00: As I said earlier, it's about stewardship.
- 10:05SPEAKER_00: The Lord has given you someone made in His image.
- 10:08SPEAKER_00: He expects you to seek Him and learn the gifts,
- 10:12SPEAKER_00: the character, and quality of life that He intends.
- 10:15SPEAKER_00: Your child has to do the same thing.
- 10:30SPEAKER_00: Not necessarily better for you teaching them how to be like you.
- 10:34SPEAKER_00: They are better for you teaching them how to be like Christ.
- 10:37SPEAKER_00: And that doesn't just come by raising them in church.
- 10:39SPEAKER_00: As we can see, there's a lot of exposure happening in the American church.
- 10:45SPEAKER_00: I don't necessarily think you should trust them any more than a Christian teacher
- 10:49SPEAKER_00: that works in a secular school district.
- 10:51SPEAKER_00: The kids don't belong to anyone else but you.
- 10:54SPEAKER_00: And so the primary influence,
- 10:55SPEAKER_00: I'm going to keep coming back to that, it has to come from your home.
- 10:58SPEAKER_00: It has to come from what happens around your district.
- 11:00SPEAKER_00: I look some things up for you,
- 11:01SPEAKER_00: and you can go to blueletterbible.org and look these things up for yourself.
- 11:29SPEAKER_00: The word train in Latin means to pull, to draw.
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: That sounds like influence to me.
- 11:34SPEAKER_00: It means to instruct thoroughly, to exercise or to teach a skill.
- 11:37SPEAKER_00: And then in the English language,
- 11:39SPEAKER_00: the definition means to help a person learn a skill or behavior through practice,
- 11:43SPEAKER_00: to instruct.
- 11:46SPEAKER_00: So your child is going to go to school and they're going to learn their times tables.
- 11:51SPEAKER_00: They're going to learn their nouns, their verbs, their adverbs, pronouns.
- 11:56SPEAKER_00: Singular person cannot be plural.
- 11:58SPEAKER_00: They, them, mm-hmm.
- 11:59SPEAKER_00: They're going to learn these things, right, through conditioning and through memory.
- 12:02SPEAKER_00: They're going to learn science.
- 12:04SPEAKER_00: They're going to learn history.
- 12:05SPEAKER_00: I have noticed there is a gap in between what's reasonably expected for a child
- 12:10SPEAKER_00: to know by the time they graduate high school compared to what was reasonable.
- 12:14SPEAKER_00: It's reasonable for past generations to know.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: Technology has pretty much fried the minds of Gen Z.
- 12:20SPEAKER_00: Because children are being introduced to phones and tablets and electronics at such
- 12:25SPEAKER_00: a young age, it has stunted their growth mentally and cognitively.
- 12:29SPEAKER_00: Cognitively and relationally,
- 12:30SPEAKER_00: this is the first generation it's being predicted
- 12:32SPEAKER_00: that will not surpass their parents when it comes to education.
- 12:36SPEAKER_00: That should be very alarming.
- 12:37SPEAKER_00: It should be reasonably expected that a 12th grader can read on a 12th grade level,
- 12:41SPEAKER_00: that they can read cursive, so that they can read articulation.
- 12:44SPEAKER_00: You should be teaching them to defend their faith and to overcome wickedness.
- 12:59SPEAKER_00: So wisdom number one, these are not steps.
- 13:00SPEAKER_00: I'm just going to call this wisdom.
- 13:02SPEAKER_00: You can take it or leave it.
- 13:03SPEAKER_00: Wisdom number one, teach your child to overcome the
- 13:14SPEAKER_00: And I'm going to read Proverbs 29, 25.
- 13:18SPEAKER_00: Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the Lord means safety.
- 13:23SPEAKER_00: 2 Timothy 1,
- 13:24SPEAKER_00: 7 says, God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound love.
- 13:30SPEAKER_00: So you want to teach your children to not only overcome the fear of human beings,
- 13:34SPEAKER_00: but you want to teach them to overcome irrational fears,
- 13:37SPEAKER_00: being afraid of the dark, monsters in the closet, monsters underneath the bed.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: At a certain age, a child's imagination is just going to be crazy.
- 13:44SPEAKER_00: Everybody should just expect that.
- 13:45SPEAKER_00: But as a child goes into adulthood,
- 13:48SPEAKER_00: they should not have a fear of people or of things in such a way
- 13:52SPEAKER_00: that it stunts interpersonal relationships,
- 13:55SPEAKER_00: stunts their success, or causes them to cling to you.
- 13:59SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry that that's so derogatory, whereas daddy's girl is not.
- 14:08SPEAKER_00: Ultimately, parents should be raising their children to leave the home.
- 14:11SPEAKER_00: That is the point.
- 14:12SPEAKER_00: Here's something else.
- 14:13SPEAKER_00: You need a teacher.
- 14:14SPEAKER_00: And as we live out the Word of God,
- 14:15SPEAKER_00: we should just have the expectation that people are going to
- 14:29SPEAKER_00: So wisdom number one, teach your children not to have irrational fear.
- 14:32SPEAKER_00: Wisdom number two, teach your child to persevere.
- 14:45SPEAKER_00: In Acts chapter 4, the apostles were constantly being dragged into court.
- 14:50SPEAKER_00: They were disturbing the leaders by preaching in the name of Jesus.
- 14:53SPEAKER_00: They had to give an account for the miracles that were happening and all these disturbances.
- 14:57SPEAKER_00: And they stood on their convictions.
- 14:59SPEAKER_00: Every single time, they did not falter.
- 15:01SPEAKER_00: There was no confusion in their speech versus their lifestyle.
- 15:05SPEAKER_00: They didn't cool off.
- 15:06SPEAKER_00: They didn't relax.
- 15:07SPEAKER_00: The faith that the Christians had in the early church,
- 15:09SPEAKER_00: we have some watered-down version of it now.
- 15:12SPEAKER_00: On top of that, we have this attack.
- 15:14SPEAKER_00: That's coming from the secular world trying to get us to fold.
- 15:17SPEAKER_00: We're pushing back against that in this podcast episode, every episode before and hereafter.
- 15:22SPEAKER_00: A lot of the time people are willing to watch because they want to catch us slipping.
- 15:25SPEAKER_00: They want to call us hypocrites.
- 15:26SPEAKER_00: They want to challenge our authority in the scriptures.
- 15:28SPEAKER_00: That's why it's
- 15:31SPEAKER_00: Wisdom number three, learn the word submission and teach that to your kids.
- 15:35SPEAKER_00: Submission has such a negative connotation.
- 15:38SPEAKER_00: We live in a society with fierce independence, rugged individualism.
- 15:41SPEAKER_00: Nobody's going to tell us what to do.
- 15:43SPEAKER_00: I pay the bills.
- 15:44SPEAKER_00: If you're an American, I'm speaking a language you understand.
- 15:46SPEAKER_00: There's power in submission.
- 15:48SPEAKER_00: When you trust and respect someone who's more powerful than you,
- 15:52SPEAKER_00: that empowers you to go throughout life not fearing man and operating with boldness.
- 15:57SPEAKER_00: So work on your submission.
- 15:59SPEAKER_00: Submission, unfortunately, has been equated with
- 16:15SPEAKER_00: It's a good kind of weakness that God can work through.
- 16:18SPEAKER_00: Obeying your parents is the first order and directive that God gives to children.
- 16:23SPEAKER_00: It is the first commandment with a promise the scriptures say.
- 16:26SPEAKER_00: You want your kids to listen to your voice.
- 16:31SPEAKER_00: There is going to come a time where your kids are going to make
- 16:36SPEAKER_00: a decision that's different than a decision that you would ever make,
- 16:38SPEAKER_00: but that decision is in the will of God.
- 16:40SPEAKER_00: You're going to have to be able to discern at that point in time that you don't need
- 16:43SPEAKER_00: to judge Wisdom number four, never apologize for speaking the truth.
- 16:46SPEAKER_00: Romans chapter one, verses 16 through 17 says,
- 16:59SPEAKER_00: A pastor once told me that if the truth is offensive, let
- 17:21SPEAKER_00: We have directives in the Word of God to be confrontational as far as evil is concerned.
- 17:25SPEAKER_00: Nice is not a fruit
- 17:36SPEAKER_00: So as long as we're not being rude,
- 17:38SPEAKER_00: malicious,
- 17:39SPEAKER_00: we're not trying to hurt people on purpose, is God's will that when someone asks,
- 17:51SPEAKER_00: That is wisdom number four.
- 17:53SPEAKER_00: You need to teach your children to speak the truth.
- 18:08SPEAKER_00: I think that's a good lesson to learn for adults.
- 18:14SPEAKER_00: We're living in a society where everyone is offended.
- 18:17SPEAKER_00: So if I make the declaration based on the word of God that marriage is between a man
- 18:21SPEAKER_00: and a woman.
- 18:22SPEAKER_00: That there are only two genders.
- 18:23SPEAKER_00: That borders should be closed and that a nation should have sovereignty.
- 18:27SPEAKER_00: That should not cause somebody to fly into a tirade, call my boss and try to get me fired.
- 18:32SPEAKER_00: But that's where we're living now.
- 18:34SPEAKER_00: We all need to be willing to take risks for the word of Wisdom number five
- 18:37SPEAKER_00: to love sincerely and forgive quickly.
- 18:39SPEAKER_00: Matthew 22, 36 through 40.
- 18:40SPEAKER_00: Teacher, which is the most important commandment of the law of Moses?
- 18:52SPEAKER_00: Jesus replied,
- 18:52SPEAKER_00: you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind.
- 18:56SPEAKER_00: This is the first and greatest commandment.
- 18:58SPEAKER_00: The second is equally important.
- 19:00SPEAKER_00: Love your neighbor as yourself.
- 19:01SPEAKER_00: The entire law and all the commandments of the prophets are based on these two commandments.
- 19:05SPEAKER_00: Now, there are people who are living in sin,
- 19:08SPEAKER_00: but they call themselves Christians or they claim to ascribe to Christian values.
- 19:13SPEAKER_00: And they will quote a passage like this and just say, love God, love others.
- 19:16SPEAKER_00: This does not absolve us from reading the Ten Commandments or reading
- 19:20SPEAKER_00: the What does it mean to love your neighbor?
- 19:22SPEAKER_00: You have to read outside of these few verses to understand what love is,
- 19:25SPEAKER_00: and you will learn when it comes to the gospel that loving someone is
- 19:35SPEAKER_00: It is always telling them the truth.
- 19:37SPEAKER_00: It is never winking or condoning or celebrating sin.
- 19:41SPEAKER_00: So people who try to use scripture in this weaponized way and they want
- 19:44SPEAKER_00: to call us hypocrites,
- 19:46SPEAKER_00: those of us who uphold the word of God as the standard,
- 19:49SPEAKER_00: that's just not going to fly because We understand what God's Word means.
- 19:52SPEAKER_00: There's also another passage,
- 19:54SPEAKER_00: I want to throw this in here, where people say, judge not lest you be judged.
- 19:57SPEAKER_00: That is nine times out of ten quoted out of context and the meaning is lost.
- 20:01SPEAKER_00: If I'm judging you by the Word of God,
- 20:03SPEAKER_00: that is the standard that I'm using,
- 20:05SPEAKER_00: then I am I'm 100% welcoming you to judge me by the exact same standard.
- 20:10SPEAKER_00: But don't quote a passage of scripture out of context and expect me to fold
- 20:14SPEAKER_00: because I've read the whole chapter.
- 20:16SPEAKER_00: I've read the whole Bible.
- 20:17SPEAKER_00: Every believer can do the same.
- 20:19SPEAKER_00: That doesn't make me better than anybody.
- 20:20SPEAKER_00: So back to what I was saying about loving sincerely and giving quickly.
- 20:36SPEAKER_00: 1 Corinthians 13.
- 20:37SPEAKER_00: And this is for all my Pentecostal folks out there.
- 20:40SPEAKER_00: If I could speak all the language of the earth and angels,
- 20:43SPEAKER_00: but don't love others, I would be a noisy gong and a clanging cymbal.
- 20:47SPEAKER_00: If I had the gift of prophecy,
- 20:48SPEAKER_00: if I understood all of God's secret plans and possessions, Love is patient.
- 20:51SPEAKER_00: Love is kind.
- 20:52SPEAKER_00: Love is not jealous or bold.
- 21:05SPEAKER_00: Love never gives up, never loses faith.
- 21:07SPEAKER_00: It's always hopeful and enduring.
- 21:22SPEAKER_00: And that was 1 Corinthians 13, 1 through 7.
- 21:26SPEAKER_00: What God is saying is that you have to come from a place of love with everything that you do.
- 21:31SPEAKER_00: Condoning sin,
- 21:32SPEAKER_00: allowing your children to participate in anti-ice Disciplining your children,
- 21:39SPEAKER_00: that's love.
- 21:39SPEAKER_00: Allowing your daughter to walk around with her breasts bound,
- 21:44SPEAKER_00: which is going to cause health problems and present herself to the world as a boy,
- 21:48SPEAKER_00: that's not love.
- 21:50SPEAKER_00: That is pervert.
- 21:50SPEAKER_00: Jesus Christ, who is God, died for our sins.
- 21:52SPEAKER_00: He made a way for us to live.
- 22:07SPEAKER_00: And there are articles that have been written about this.
- 22:14SPEAKER_00: I'm going to link to some of them in the show notes.
- 22:16SPEAKER_00: Passive versus active parenting.
- 22:19SPEAKER_00: That is the difference this article is from an organization called Parents
- 22:24SPEAKER_00: for Public Schools.
- 22:25SPEAKER_00: So imagine that.
- 22:26SPEAKER_00: I'm not just giving you sources for pro-private school,
- 22:29SPEAKER_00: pro-home school, pro-ESA if you're in Arizona.
- 22:32SPEAKER_00: There is a certain segment of student population.
- 22:38SPEAKER_00: That influence of secular government education is going to have an effect on society
- 22:43SPEAKER_00: until the end of time.
- 22:45SPEAKER_00: But this is what I've been saying this whole podcast,
- 22:47SPEAKER_00: is that we want to make sure that the influence of the Lord is what comes
- 22:50SPEAKER_00: That will never be me.
- 22:51SPEAKER_00: I've seen too much.
- 22:52SPEAKER_00: I know too much, so there's no way.
- 22:53SPEAKER_00: However, being involved
- 23:05SPEAKER_00: The difference between involvement and engagement,
- 23:07SPEAKER_00: I'm going to read these definitions,
- 23:08SPEAKER_00: and again, this is based on parents for public education.
- 23:10SPEAKER_00: It's their words, not mine.
- 23:22SPEAKER_00: Parental involvement refers to actions or activities that parents do
- 23:25SPEAKER_00: to support their child's learning,
- 23:27SPEAKER_00: such as attending parent-teacher conferences, volunteering at school events.
- 23:31SPEAKER_00: It is often seen as a more passive role where parents are involved in
- 23:34SPEAKER_00: the child's education but may not be actively seeking to improve it
- 23:37SPEAKER_00: beyond these traditional activities.
- 23:39SPEAKER_00: Parental engagement, okay, this is a contrast.
- 23:42SPEAKER_00: Parental engagement,
- 23:43SPEAKER_00: on the other hand,
- 23:44SPEAKER_00: goes beyond involvement to include activities that are more proactive
- 23:48SPEAKER_00: and collaborative with educators.
- 23:50SPEAKER_00: This can include participating in school decision-making committees,
- 23:53SPEAKER_00: advocating for school improvement initiatives,
- 23:56SPEAKER_00: or co-planning Now,
- 23:57SPEAKER_00: the level of involvement versus engagement,
- 24:00SPEAKER_00: I think that depends on the age of the child, the person.
- 24:13SPEAKER_00: If you have a child that has an independent streak that runs through them,
- 24:17SPEAKER_00: over-engaging sometimes can stunt their growth.
- 24:20SPEAKER_00: But then there are children who they don't have that independent streak.
- 24:24SPEAKER_00: They may have more of a tendency to want to impress themselves.
- 24:27SPEAKER_00: The Myth of Education Podcast, mythofeducation.
- 24:46SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 24:47SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 24:47SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 24:47SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 24:48SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 25:01SPEAKER_00: If you have a child that may be a little more submissive
- 25:03SPEAKER_00: and they will easily do what an adult says, make sure that your word is firm.
- 25:09SPEAKER_00: The teacher is just the extension of that.
- 25:11SPEAKER_00: You should have an open dialogue with your child that nobody else has.
- 25:14SPEAKER_00: Your child's best friend should not be their teacher.
- 25:16SPEAKER_00: Your child's best friend should be nobody of an adult age.
- 25:19SPEAKER_00: Parental involvement versus parental engagement.
- 25:22SPEAKER_00: It is very important that you understand the difference and
- 25:24SPEAKER_00: that you don't disengage, especially in the latter years.
- 25:28SPEAKER_00: Kids become teenagers and they need you less and it might be important.
- 25:31SPEAKER_00: Now, I also want to read a little bit from this Pew Research report from 2024.
- 25:33SPEAKER_00: Pew Research is secular.
- 25:57SPEAKER_00: I'm giving you all sorts of tools that are not necessarily based in Christianity.
- 26:01SPEAKER_00: So I'm giving you the Word,
- 26:03SPEAKER_00: but then I'm also giving you practical things to help you engage with
- 26:07SPEAKER_00: the world around you.
- 26:08SPEAKER_00: There are people watching our lives who will never read the Bible.
- 26:10SPEAKER_00: They'll never step foot in our And we have to be able to relate to them.
- 26:13SPEAKER_00: This Pew Research poll is a teacher's view of parental involvement.
- 26:17SPEAKER_00: This is the minimum.
- 26:19SPEAKER_00: This is what Parents for Public School basically considers to be passive.
- 26:22SPEAKER_00: Most teachers say parents do too little when it comes
- 26:25SPEAKER_00: to holding their children accountable if they misbehave.
- 26:28SPEAKER_00: That was 79%.
- 26:30SPEAKER_00: Helping their children with schoolwork, 68%.
- 26:32SPEAKER_00: Ensuring their children's attendance in school, 63%.
- 26:35SPEAKER_00: High school teachers,
- 26:36SPEAKER_00: about 75% of them,
- 26:38SPEAKER_00: are more likely than middle school or elementary school teachers,
- 26:40SPEAKER_00: 60% to 56%,
- 26:41SPEAKER_00: to say that parents do little to ensure their children's attendance in school.
- 26:45SPEAKER_00: So holding them accountable when they misbehave, doing their schoolwork, and attendance.
- 26:50SPEAKER_00: Those are the main areas.
- 26:51SPEAKER_00: This is an offshoot of parenting,
- 26:54SPEAKER_00: to engage with another educator,
- 26:56SPEAKER_00: to get involved with someone else who is partnering in the education process.
- 27:00SPEAKER_00: This is a relationship that I feel like has been obstructed.
- 27:04SPEAKER_00: It has been corrupted.
- 27:05SPEAKER_00: It has been taken down this wrong and dark path because teachers unions,
- 27:10SPEAKER_00: I call them union thugs, they have taken over education.
- 27:13SPEAKER_00: School boards and administrators imparting their agendas into the education system,
- 27:17SPEAKER_00: constantly putting a teacher on edge.
- 27:19SPEAKER_00: It's constantly making them defensive.
- 27:21SPEAKER_00: They don't know whether they're going to lose their job because they bring up
- 27:23SPEAKER_00: an issue and If your child has a problem,
- 27:25SPEAKER_00: they have no backup when it comes to disciplining them.
- 27:28SPEAKER_00: As a parent, you have to be involved in your child's life.
- 27:31SPEAKER_00: If you don't like your kids, well, too bad.
- 27:33SPEAKER_00: There are things about you that God doesn't like.
- 27:36SPEAKER_00: You need to love your child enough to discipline them and
- 27:39SPEAKER_00: to make sure I'm saying it's easy,
- 27:43SPEAKER_00: but I think it's simple for a parent and educator to partner with one another
- 27:48SPEAKER_00: to make sure the needs of the child are being met.
- 27:50SPEAKER_00: That is the context of the relationship between the parent and the educator.
- 27:54SPEAKER_00: You guys are in tandem trying to work together to get this kid out into the world.
- 27:58SPEAKER_00: The teacher is trying to make sure they can read, write, and do arithmetic.
- 28:01SPEAKER_00: You need to make sure the child is sitting still long enough to be able to learn something.
- 28:05SPEAKER_00: They're not being disruptive.
- 28:07SPEAKER_00: That's where the morals are going to lie.
- 28:09SPEAKER_00: Child should not be getting their morals from their teachers.
- 28:12SPEAKER_00: There's something very specific that teachers are designed to do,
- 28:15SPEAKER_00: and there's something very specific that parents are designed to do.
- 28:18SPEAKER_00: All parents are teachers.
- 28:19SPEAKER_00: All teachers are not parents.
- 28:21SPEAKER_00: Does that make sense?
- 28:22SPEAKER_00: I can say it twice.
- 28:23SPEAKER_00: All parents are teachers.
- 28:24SPEAKER_00: This is going back to scripture from God's perspective.
- 28:28SPEAKER_00: In the fall of 2023, Learning Heroes also did a survey.
- 28:32SPEAKER_00: It speaks to the misconception parents may have when
- 28:35SPEAKER_00: a school district can produce high test scores or There are programs and systems
- 28:43SPEAKER_00: and things in place that certain states have tapped into.
- 28:47SPEAKER_00: Mississippi is one that I plan to look into myself as a side note
- 28:51SPEAKER_00: because they taught them babies how to read and now Mississippi is I digress
- 28:54SPEAKER_00: but it was a good digression.
- 29:10SPEAKER_00: Hey, listen, kids are smart, right?
- 29:17SPEAKER_00: And they're so smart sometimes that they can outsmart the system that they're
- 29:21SPEAKER_00: within, especially if you have a high schooler who's been doing this for a while.
- 29:24SPEAKER_00: They know.
- 29:24SPEAKER_00: Transcription by CastingWords
- 29:39SPEAKER_00: This is Learning Heroes.
- 29:54SPEAKER_00: Including standardized tests,
- 29:55SPEAKER_00: which suggests that less than half of children are performing at grade level.
- 29:59SPEAKER_00: They cited recent NAEP data,
- 30:02SPEAKER_00: which indicates that only 30% of 8th graders are proficient and above in reading and
- 30:07SPEAKER_00: in math.
- 30:09SPEAKER_00: NAEP is the National Assessment of Education Progress.
- 30:13SPEAKER_00: They set the trends and the standards for what should be taking place in education
- 30:17SPEAKER_00: across the United States of America.
- 30:19SPEAKER_00: 64% of parents cite report CARS as an important measure to know how their child achieves.
- 30:24SPEAKER_00: Suggesting parents rely on report cards as a primary measure of their child's progress.
- 30:28SPEAKER_00: This was just back in 2023.
- 30:30SPEAKER_00: So this was just a few years ago.
- 30:32SPEAKER_00: I can only imagine that parents are still probably going this direction
- 30:36SPEAKER_00: unless there is an awakening and parents know better.
- 30:39SPEAKER_00: So continuing on with Learning Heroes,
- 30:41SPEAKER_00: with 79% of parents saying their child receives mostly Bs or better,
- 30:45SPEAKER_00: parents may need more measures beyond report cards to know when they should step in,
- 30:50SPEAKER_00: okay?
- 30:51SPEAKER_00: So a school district or any school really,
- 30:54SPEAKER_00: they They have a vested interest to stakeholders in their community,
- 30:58SPEAKER_00: chambers of commerce, business owners, private entities, donors.
- 31:03SPEAKER_00: They're going to have a vested interest in presenting test scores and outcomes
- 31:07SPEAKER_00: that will keep that money flowing in, that will keep that partnership coming.
- 31:11SPEAKER_00: Where it is being proven,
- 31:12SPEAKER_00: at least to some degree, the community education is working for the community.
- 31:17SPEAKER_00: This is why we can't let public school students go.
- 31:20SPEAKER_00: We have to keep our eye on that ball.
- 31:21SPEAKER_00: As many parents can pull their kids down.
- 31:23SPEAKER_00: There has to be competition.
- 31:24SPEAKER_00: Essentially, parental involvement and engagement, depending on the child, the level of
- 31:38SPEAKER_00: They can find ways to curb the grading scale.
- 31:40SPEAKER_00: And your child might say,
- 31:53SPEAKER_00: I can see it on the ground level in my school district, other school districts I'm looking
- 32:08SPEAKER_00: They are graduating above 85, 90, 95, 96, 98% of their students.
- 32:14SPEAKER_00: But when you break down what those students may be learning,
- 32:17SPEAKER_00: you will see that 12th grader hasn't learned to read beyond 8th, 9th grade.
- 32:22SPEAKER_00: They just got passed.
- 32:23SPEAKER_00: If your child plays sports,
- 32:25SPEAKER_00: there's all sorts of red carpet that's being rolled out for your child.
- 32:28SPEAKER_00: That's not going to be helpful to them in later life.
- 32:31SPEAKER_00: You need to make sure that your football player,
- 32:34SPEAKER_00: your basketball player,
- 32:35SPEAKER_00: your hockey player, your soccer player, that they know how to react.
- 32:44SPEAKER_00: Last thing I'll read, just a couple of takeaways here.
- 32:46SPEAKER_00: So 97% of parents who know their child is below grade level in math are worried
- 32:51SPEAKER_00: about their child's math skills.
- 32:52SPEAKER_00: And this is compared to 20%.
- 32:53SPEAKER_00: 72% of all parents who say their child is at or above grade level.
- 32:57SPEAKER_00: 74% of parents who know their child is below grade level in math and have had
- 33:01SPEAKER_00: a conversation with their child's teachers say they've discussed their concerns
- 33:04SPEAKER_00: about their child's academic progress.
- 33:06SPEAKER_00: This compares to 50% of all parents.
- 33:08SPEAKER_00: Parents who want better for their children than what they have for themselves.
- 33:11SPEAKER_00: You cannot be intimidated by people with PhDs behind their names,
- 33:14SPEAKER_00: superintendents, people with PhDs.
- 33:23SPEAKER_00: People who sit on school boards and administrators, you can't be intimidated by that.
- 33:27SPEAKER_00: Don't ever be intimidated by somebody that has more education than you.
- 33:30SPEAKER_00: Don't be intimidated by teachers.
- 33:31SPEAKER_00: The people that have all of the skills and the training
- 33:35SPEAKER_00: and they've got those higher degrees and they know how to So when it comes
- 33:38SPEAKER_00: to raising the child, stewarding that child's life,
- 33:53SPEAKER_00: All of the advice and information that I'm giving you is founded in the Word of God.
- 33:56SPEAKER_00: Anybody can read this book, alright?
- 34:08SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 34:08SPEAKER_00: And find out from God's perspective what parenting should look like.
- 34:12SPEAKER_00: From there, you're building on what he said.
- 34:14SPEAKER_00: When it comes to who your child's friends are,
- 34:16SPEAKER_00: what their bedtime should be, at what age they should be dating.
- 34:20SPEAKER_00: I might have an opinion on those things and some of my opinions on those things.
- 34:24SPEAKER_00: Ultimately, what I am talking about is stewardship.
- 34:27SPEAKER_00: Those of us in society who have to interact with you and your children,
- 34:31SPEAKER_00: in a grocery store,
- 34:32SPEAKER_00: in a place of business,
- 34:34SPEAKER_00: your child that's waiting on someone at Starbucks needs to go.
- 34:38SPEAKER_00: That starts at home.
- 34:44SPEAKER_00: Future leaders come from your loins.
- 34:46SPEAKER_00: And from God's perspective, it's about posterity.
- 34:49SPEAKER_00: It's about generations.
- 34:50SPEAKER_00: Teach your children to love God, obey authorities.
- 34:53SPEAKER_00: Defend their faith,
- 34:54SPEAKER_00: never apologize for the truth,
- 34:56SPEAKER_00: never lie,
- 34:56SPEAKER_00: and respectfully push back against true injustices that they see in society.
- 35:01SPEAKER_00: You're not going to be a perfect parent.
- 35:03SPEAKER_00: Don't try to be perfect.
- 35:04SPEAKER_00: Just make sure that your motives are pure and be willing to admit when you're wrong.
- 35:08SPEAKER_00: That's what God expects.
