- 0:00Speaker 1: Imagine Dragons.
- 0:01Speaker 2: Thunder.
- 0:01Speaker 1: You might have a little thunder today with the rain.
- 0:04Speaker 1: Cloudy conditions. High 85. Light FM is on. Cubby and Christine.
- 0:07Speaker 1: Producer Kristen. Hey, we're starting the morning with kind of
- 0:10Speaker 1: some sad news here. American journalist, feminist, and activist. We're
- 0:13Speaker 1: hearing about the passing of Gloria Steinem just now.
- 0:16Speaker 3: Yes. At the age of 92. Yeah. And we only
- 0:21Speaker 3: know that she passed peacefully in her home in New
- 0:23Speaker 3: York City. No other details at the moment.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Wow. And we were just in the same room with
- 0:28Speaker 1: her when Kristen won her Gracie Award.
- 0:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 0:33Speaker 1: We were they acknowledged her. Yeah.
- 0:35Speaker 3: Yeah. There was a special Gracie dedicated to honor her,
- 0:41Speaker 3: her work, along with her, her partner. I know who
- 0:45Speaker 3: accepted the award on stage, you know, but Gloria Steinem
- 0:49Speaker 3: was sitting in the audience.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:51Speaker 1: Well, rest in peace, Gloria Steinem. More on this coming
- 0:53Speaker 1: up as we go throughout the day. I really, if
- 0:57Speaker 1: you don't mind, Christina, I want to revisit something we
- 0:59Speaker 1: talked about yesterday at this time. You are fighting for, well,
- 1:04Speaker 1: a lot of people in your neighborhood are fighting to
- 1:06Speaker 1: prevent a big warehouse that's going to be possibly developed
- 1:10Speaker 1: near where you live.
- 1:11Speaker 3: Yes, right. Very residential area.
- 1:14Speaker 1: There was a big town meeting last night that you
- 1:16Speaker 1: were a part of. How did it go?
- 1:17Speaker 3: Okay. Okay. It was very long. A lot of people
- 1:22Speaker 3: needed to speak and they didn't get to yet. So
- 1:26Speaker 3: there's a public hearing, if you will, first, like the
- 1:29Speaker 3: board meeting has to approve these plans for a warehouse,
- 1:33Speaker 3: but it's a mystery warehouse. We don't know what it is.
- 1:36Speaker 3: We just know there's four loading docks with 18-wheeler trucks expected,
- 1:40Speaker 3: but we don't know what it is. And it is
- 1:42Speaker 3: right on, like literally on top of houses and Town homes.
- 1:47Speaker 3: There's going to be noise pollution.
- 1:48Speaker 1: There's going to be vibrations of.
- 1:50Speaker 3: The trucks going by. The light, the air quality. There's,
- 1:54Speaker 3: you know, trees that have to come down. It's really,
- 1:58Speaker 3: really going to impact the quality of life for so
- 2:01Speaker 3: many people who live right in that area in Nutley.
- 2:05Speaker 3: So there was a huge turnout yesterday. You know, from
- 2:08Speaker 3: what I understand, it's like the client, the person... you know,
- 2:11Speaker 3: the property to sell.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Right.
- 2:15Speaker 3: Because this property, it's like a, it's been sitting empty
- 2:17Speaker 3: for a couple of years. They can't reveal who their
- 2:22Speaker 3: tenant is, but they have their lawyers there. They have
- 2:25Speaker 3: their engineer. They, you know, we have to hear from
- 2:27Speaker 3: all those people first. And then you're allowed to ask
- 2:30Speaker 3: them questions. And so we never got to the portion
- 2:33Speaker 3: of the, you know, the public, like you'll get your chance.
- 2:36Speaker 3: You'll get your chance to speak. We didn't even get there.
- 2:38Speaker 3: It was 10 o'clock at night and it was.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Were people mad about that? Like, hey, come on, we
- 2:42Speaker 1: never got a chance.
- 2:43Speaker 3: Maybe just me. Because I was trying to respect the
- 2:48Speaker 3: rules and not talk until it was time. But a
- 2:52Speaker 3: lot of people, you know, they're very passionate about this
- 2:54Speaker 3: and they were using the time to pose questions that
- 2:57Speaker 3: also got their opinion in, which was fine with me.
- 2:59Speaker 3: These things needed to be said. No problem with that
- 3:02Speaker 3: at all. It's just we only got through, say, like
- 3:04Speaker 3: half of the agenda. So these meetings are going to continue.
- 3:08Speaker 3: We have to hear from more of The client and
- 3:11Speaker 3: then the public still has to have their say. And
- 3:13Speaker 3: I'm just wondering, it was such a huge turnout, right?
- 3:18Speaker 3: How much power does that hold? Like, you know, when
- 3:21Speaker 3: the public turns out for these public hearings, do we
- 3:24Speaker 3: even stand a chance?
- 3:25Speaker 1: I've always thought, are they rolling their eyes? Like, all right,
- 3:27Speaker 1: just say what you want to say. It's happening anyway.
- 3:30Speaker 3: Right.
- 3:30Speaker 1: That's how I visualize it sometimes.
- 3:31Speaker 3: Right.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Or could you make a difference? And I think it's
- 3:34Speaker 1: paid off before.
- 3:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:36Speaker 1: And that's why people still do it.
- 3:37Speaker 3: Yeah, I hope we can make a difference.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Hopefully you can make a difference.
- 3:40Speaker 3: I mean, I feel like we were heard, we were seen,
- 3:42Speaker 3: we were recognized. You know, sometimes it's even out of
- 3:46Speaker 3: the hands of a board because they're working through these technicalities.
- 3:50Speaker 3: They're kind of, this is why we can still do this.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Don't you feel so adult now? I remember when I
- 3:56Speaker 1: was like 18 years old and I heard about people
- 3:58Speaker 1: doing this. I'm like, oh, I would never do all
- 4:00Speaker 1: that stuff.
- 4:01Speaker 3: Guess what?
- 4:02Speaker 1: I'd rather go to the bar. Now you're like, that's
- 4:04Speaker 1: your focus right now. Yeah.
- 4:05Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean, if you own a home.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Yeah. It's going to impact you. Exactly.
- 4:09Speaker 3: Not what you expected. The reason you chose this area
- 4:11Speaker 3: is beautiful, quiet residential area. And this is moving in
- 4:15Speaker 3: because of some zone zoning laws from. 200 years ago.
- 4:19Speaker 1: Right.
- 4:20Speaker 3: You know, it's, yeah, it's impactful.
- 4:22Speaker 1: Keep the fight going, girl.
- 4:23Speaker 3: Thank you, Cubby. I will. I've got to sleep too, so.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Yeah, you're only like two hours of sleep, right?
- 4:28Speaker 3: Right, but I'll go as much as I can.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Go, yeah. Madonna and more variety from the 80s through today,
- 4:33Speaker 1: along with two pretty cool things coming up next.
- 4:36Speaker 2: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Next on Light FM.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Okay.
- 4:42Speaker 3: I need to tell you two things.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Cubby and Christine's. Two pretty cool things. Right here on
- 4:49Speaker 1: Light FM. So, Christine, producer Kristen sent me this article,
- 4:53Speaker 1: and we both read it. And we started laughing at
- 4:56Speaker 1: the very end. At first, we were excited. Then we laughed.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Are you ready? Yeah. The restaurant chain Shake Shack has
- 5:05Speaker 1: unveiled a limited edition Reese's Peanut Butter Cup shake for Halloween.
- 5:10Speaker 1: That's the cool part.
- 5:11Speaker 3: Yes, it is.
- 5:11Speaker 1: A Reese's Peanut Butter Cup shake for Halloween. It's 1,900 calories.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Oh.
- 5:17Speaker 1: 1,900 calories. That's what just made us crack up.
- 5:21Speaker 3: Wait, isn't that like two days of food?
- 5:23Speaker 1: Well, it's more than you should eat an entire day,
- 5:26Speaker 1: according to the FDA. It is. And it's $ 9. 99.
- 5:31Speaker 3: Okay.
- 5:32Speaker 1: So Shake Shack Reese's Peanut Butter Cup shake for Halloween,
- 5:35Speaker 1: if you want it. It's available.
- 5:37Speaker 3: Okay.
- 5:37Speaker 1: That's your whole meal right there.
- 5:38Speaker 3: You just work out like crazy after that.
- 5:40Speaker 1: Yes. Yeah.
- 5:41Speaker 3: Go trick-or-treating.
- 5:42Speaker 1: Plan a fitness. Yeah. All right. What do you have
- 5:44Speaker 1: as a cool thing?
- 5:44Speaker 3: Well, mine involves food, too, Cubby, but this is some
- 5:47Speaker 3: free food coming your way. Domino's is giving away up
- 5:50Speaker 3: to $ 1 million worth of free pizza with a catch.
- 5:53Speaker 3: You have to eat at one of its competitors first, okay?
- 5:57Speaker 3: Customers who buy a Big Mac, Whopper, Crunchwrap Supreme, Chick-fil-A
- 6:02Speaker 3: chicken sandwich, or Chipotle burrito, upload your receipt, you get
- 6:06Speaker 3: a code, you get a free Domino while supplies last.
- 6:09Speaker 3: This is a new personal pizza that Domino's is trying out,
- 6:12Speaker 3: and they just want to see if they hold up against,
- 6:15Speaker 3: you know, iconic menu items.
- 6:17Speaker 1: What was the entire calorie count of this whole story?
- 6:19Speaker 1: You and me together?
- 6:21Speaker 3: A year's worth of calories.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Pizza and shakes. Yeah. Right here on Light FM.
- 6:27Speaker 2: More Covey and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 6:30Speaker 2: Next on Light FM.
- 6:32Speaker 3: On a 6.7 Light FM. Playing some romance in the morning.
- 6:35Speaker 3: It's Covey, Christine, producer Kristen.
- 6:37Speaker 1: We were slow dancing there.
- 6:38Speaker 3: Yeah, it was a moment. Let's polish it off with
- 6:41Speaker 3: a bagel, shall we?
- 6:43Speaker 1: Now that's a way to kick off a morning.
- 6:44Speaker 3: That is true love.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Some slow dancing and now a bagel.
- 6:46Speaker 3: And bagels are true love, Cubby. So Einstein Brothers has
- 6:51Speaker 3: come up with a new plan. They have pull-apart bagels.
- 6:56Speaker 3: For those of us who can't be bothered to slice
- 6:58Speaker 3: and dice, the bagels, let me show you a picture
- 7:00Speaker 3: of it, they're already broken apart so you can, like,
- 7:03Speaker 3: take little wedges out.
- 7:05Speaker 1: That's fine. What's the big deal? Why is this like
- 7:06Speaker 1: a news story?
- 7:08Speaker 3: Because that's not how you eat bagels. What?
- 7:11Speaker 1: It's all going in your mouth regardless.
- 7:13Speaker 3: Where did you grow up?
- 7:14Speaker 1: Sorry. I grew up in Virginia Beach.
- 7:16Speaker 3: Uh-huh.
- 7:17Speaker 1: But I've been here 30 years.
- 7:18Speaker 3: That would explain things. We slice.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Well, sometimes bagels are just too big. I just kind
- 7:25Speaker 1: of pick a part at it and it looks like
- 7:27Speaker 1: a mouse was on it. You know, like I tear
- 7:29Speaker 1: it apart. Not all the time, but what's the big
- 7:32Speaker 1: deal if I do?
- 7:33Speaker 3: You're eating it wrong. You don't take a bagel and
- 7:36Speaker 3: slice it down the middle.
- 7:38Speaker 1: If it's already done, I mean, I love it.
- 7:40Speaker 3: If it's already done.
- 7:41Speaker 1: And if I have a knife nearby, I'll do it.
- 7:43Speaker 1: But sometimes, you know, we've had bagel deliveries here. Yeah.
- 7:46Speaker 1: And we're really busy. Yeah. And we're on the air
- 7:49Speaker 1: and the bagel's really big. And I don't want to,
- 7:51Speaker 1: you know, it looks like I'm eating an inner tube
- 7:53Speaker 1: if I put the whole thing into my mouth.
- 7:54Speaker 3: Okay.
- 7:54Speaker 1: So I just kind of like We'll rip it apart
- 7:56Speaker 1: and put it in my mouth.
- 7:57Speaker 3: So then you would say, Einstein brothers, thank you, because
- 8:00Speaker 3: now I don't have to pull it apart. You've done
- 8:01Speaker 3: it for me.
- 8:02Speaker 1: You just nailed it. You took the words out of
- 8:04Speaker 1: my mouth. Okay. But you're saying this is almost up
- 8:07Speaker 1: there with eating pizza with a fork and knife.
- 8:10Speaker 3: Not folding it.
- 8:11Speaker 1: Right.
- 8:12Speaker 3: Kristen and I feel, born and raised in New Jersey
- 8:15Speaker 3: and here in New York City, there's a certain way
- 8:17Speaker 3: to go about bagels. We like them sliced.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Down the middle.
- 8:21Speaker 3: And she and I differ. Um, Kristen likes to eat
- 8:25Speaker 3: like either just the top or just the bottom. Not
- 8:28Speaker 3: the tip. I, yeah, she's either a top or bottom.
- 8:31Speaker 3: I like, I like the whole, like I'll slice it.
- 8:34Speaker 3: So you're slicing it down the middle, right? And then
- 8:38Speaker 3: you're slicing it down the middle again. What am I doing?
- 8:40Speaker 3: Like width and length is what I'm talking about. I
- 8:43Speaker 3: like the whole, like the experience of the whole bagel.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Okay. Now if it's cut like that, I'm not going
- 8:48Speaker 1: to be mad at it, but also I don't mind
- 8:51Speaker 1: ripping it apart. So with, Einstein now doing this for me.
- 8:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:55Speaker 1: It's going to be like grab and go.
- 8:57Speaker 3: Einstein brothers, please take note. You're doing well with your plan.
- 9:01Speaker 3: I just say it doesn't work for me. I don't
- 9:03Speaker 3: like just having the top or the bottom either. Like
- 9:06Speaker 3: I said, I want the experience of the whole bagel.
- 9:08Speaker 1: Right.
- 9:09Speaker 3: So like if the bagels are out there and they're pre-sliced,
- 9:12Speaker 3: is that what you do? You just grab a top
- 9:14Speaker 3: or a bottom?
- 9:15Speaker 1: Correct.
- 9:16Speaker 3: And which one do you grab?
- 9:17Speaker 1: The tops.
- 9:19Speaker 3: Oh, then I'm left with the bottom. See, that's why
- 9:21Speaker 3: that doesn't work. I think we should slice them the
- 9:23Speaker 3: other way, too.
- 9:23Speaker 1: So what's the question we should throw out to the audience?
- 9:25Speaker 1: Let's get some.
- 9:26Speaker 3: How do you eat a bagel?
- 9:27Speaker 1: How do you eat a bagel? That simple? OK, simple.
- 9:30Speaker 1: And are you for or against the ripped pre-ripped bagel
- 9:34Speaker 1: for you?
- 9:34Speaker 3: Because you can't do it.
- 9:35Speaker 2: More Covey and Christine and the great music variety you
- 9:38Speaker 2: expect next on Light FM.
- 9:40Speaker 1: How much would it cost if you bought everything on Amazon? Well,
- 9:45Speaker 1: we got the answer for you. 106.7 Light FM, Cubby, Christine,
- 9:48Speaker 1: producer Kristen. I'm sure Amazon will be coming by our
- 9:51Speaker 1: house today a few times. And hopefully they'll wish my
- 9:53Speaker 1: wife a happy birthday.
- 9:55Speaker 3: Happy birthday, Coco.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Happy birthday, baby.
- 9:57Speaker 3: She should have lots of Amazon packages today, Coco.
- 10:00Speaker 1: It's her birthday. It's every day, Christine.
- 10:02Speaker 3: I know.
- 10:02Speaker 1: And I'm sure you're the same, right?
- 10:04Speaker 3: Yes.
- 10:04Speaker 1: Like four or five times a day the Amazon truck
- 10:07Speaker 1: is in front of your house?
- 10:08Speaker 3: Well, it's been known to happen. And it may feel
- 10:11Speaker 3: like we have purchased everything off of Amazon, but we haven't.
- 10:16Speaker 3: The main Amazon website offers more than 600 million items.
- 10:19Speaker 3: So we're not there yet. Reasonable estimated average price of
- 10:23Speaker 3: an item on Amazon is around 50 bucks. So it
- 10:27Speaker 3: would cost you 30 billion dollars to buy one of
- 10:30Speaker 3: everything on Amazon. Let's go with that number. Let's toss
- 10:33Speaker 3: that out there.
- 10:33Speaker 1: That doesn't sound that crazy.
- 10:35Speaker 3: 30 billion.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Obviously, I couldn't do it. But, you know, the way
- 10:39Speaker 1: the lotteries have been lately, you know, where you can
- 10:41Speaker 1: win billions of dollars.
- 10:42Speaker 3: Take your fortunes and give it to Amazon.
- 10:44Speaker 1: Right.
- 10:46Speaker 3: Don't do that.
- 10:46Speaker 1: So you're saying if I had 31, if I was
- 10:49Speaker 1: worth 31 billion, I could buy everything and then have
- 10:53Speaker 1: several million left over.
- 10:54Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:55Speaker 1: You could start your own company. Your own warehouse.
- 10:58Speaker 3: You'd have to open a warehouse to store.
- 11:00Speaker 1: All of that. And then you'd fight the warehouse.
- 11:01Speaker 3: You'd fight the warehouse.
- 11:02Speaker 1: And I would be able to open the warehouse.
- 11:04Speaker 3: Live in a residential area. Don't let that warehouse in there.
- 11:06Speaker 3: Thank you, Natalie. But my point is, like, I feel
- 11:11Speaker 3: like I'm spending all this money and getting so much stuff. Like,
- 11:14Speaker 3: right now, what's looming for me with Amazon is I
- 11:17Speaker 3: know I have to place my order for vitamins.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Do you subscribe and save?
- 11:22Speaker 3: No, I don't.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Okay, I heard.
- 11:24Speaker 3: And I always kind of put it off because the
- 11:26Speaker 3: vitamin order is super expensive, like, always.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Well, do you know where you're getting it from? Because
- 11:31Speaker 1: there's so many different people selling things on Amazon. I know,
- 11:34Speaker 1: I know.
- 11:34Speaker 3: And you want to make sure you get good quality. Yeah.
- 11:37Speaker 3: You're right. I should subscribe and save.
- 11:39Speaker 1: It didn't work for everything, but I know my wife
- 11:41Speaker 1: signs up for a lot of subscribe and save.
- 11:44Speaker 3: That's a good idea.
- 11:44Speaker 1: Or she'll sign up because it's cheaper to do that. Yeah.
- 11:47Speaker 1: And then cancel it.
- 11:47Speaker 3: And then cancel. You have to remember to cancel.
- 11:49Speaker 1: Cancel that, yeah. Yeah. And you don't do Timu, do you?
- 11:52Speaker 3: No.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Because we've talked about it in the past.
- 11:54Speaker 3: I know Coco's invited me. I've had many invitations.
- 11:57Speaker 1: To do that.
- 11:57Speaker 3: But you haven't done... I've got to keep things under control, Cubby.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Their slogan at Timu is shop like a billionaire.
- 12:04Speaker 3: Okay.
- 12:05Speaker 1: And there's some good deals on Timu.
- 12:07Speaker 3: I know you guys have gotten some cute stuff.
- 12:09Speaker 1: Yeah. All right. So again, if you have $ 30 billion,
- 12:12Speaker 1: you can go to Amazon.com and put everything in your cart. Yeah.
- 12:17Speaker 3: It just feels like you haven't technically. Right.
- 12:21Speaker 1: All right, what do you have coming up in the news?
- 12:22Speaker 3: We're going to check out those headlines and who are
- 12:25Speaker 3: our most beloved celebrities.
- 12:28Speaker 2: More Covey and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Next on Light FM.
- 12:33Speaker 1: 6.58, Light FM is on. Thank you for having us
- 12:35Speaker 1: on Thursday, September 3rd. And Christine has everything you need
- 12:39Speaker 1: to know. Good morning, Christine.
- 12:40Speaker 3: Good morning, Covey. Thank you. We have just learned that
- 12:42Speaker 3: Gloria Steinem, a leading voice of the women's movement, has
- 12:45Speaker 3: passed away at the age of 92. She passed peacefully
- 12:48Speaker 3: in her home in New York City, according to her spokespeople,
- 12:51Speaker 3: and no further details at the moment. The off-duty health
- 12:55Speaker 3: care worker who went viral for saving a man during
- 12:57Speaker 3: the Knicks victory parade is being honored by the Red Cross.
- 13:01Speaker 3: EMT Simone Kelly was given the life-saving award for her
- 13:04Speaker 3: quick action on that day in June. She's 24 years old,
- 13:07Speaker 3: encouraging other people to take classes to save lives. Data
- 13:12Speaker 3: shows around three people die each day from a drug
- 13:15Speaker 3: overdose in New York City. And that's why it's now
- 13:17Speaker 3: legal in New York State to carry Narcon rescue kits.
- 13:21Speaker 3: The FBI probing a reported data breach that may have
- 13:24Speaker 3: exposed millions of U.S. driver's licenses on Wednesday. Bureau says
- 13:28Speaker 3: it's looking into a new report on the site about
- 13:31Speaker 3: the dark web that is selling digital scans of millions
- 13:34Speaker 3: of driver's licenses from people here in the U.S. and
- 13:37Speaker 3: in Canada.
- 13:38Speaker 1: I hope they can change my picture.
- 13:41Speaker 3: Is that your main concern?
- 13:42Speaker 1: Yeah, if they can do that, I'm fine. I'll keep
- 13:44Speaker 1: it on the dark web. It'll be a better picture.
- 13:45Speaker 3: Uh-huh. Actor Tim Curry's death certificate shows he died of
- 13:49Speaker 3: coronary artery disease. This document from the L.A. County Department
- 13:53Speaker 3: of Public Health, obtained by People magazine, revealing history of
- 13:56Speaker 3: stroke and kidney cancer, or among other conditions that contributed
- 14:00Speaker 3: to his death. In sports, baseball, Mets beat the Rays 10-4.
- 14:04Speaker 3: Yankees defeated the Angels 6-3. Speaking of celebrities, who is
- 14:10Speaker 3: the most beloved celebrity in the U.S.? Well, when this
- 14:13Speaker 3: study was done, Dolly Parton was right up there at
- 14:16Speaker 3: the top of the list. We know she's just recently passed.
- 14:19Speaker 3: Other celebrities that people are very fond of, Keanu Reeves,
- 14:23Speaker 3: Michael J. Fox, Carol Burnett, Julie Andrews, and Willie Nelson.
- 14:27Speaker 3: I just want to mention that here in New York,
- 14:29Speaker 3: there will officially be Dolly Parton Day on 9-25, September 25th. 9-25.
- 14:33Speaker 3: I love it. Also, Broadway lights will be dimmed on
- 14:40Speaker 3: Tuesday evening in honor of Dolly and Tim Curry.
- 14:43Speaker 2: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 14:47Speaker 2: Next on Light FM.
- 14:48Speaker 1: Believe it or not, Miami, the most relaxing city. Can
- 14:51Speaker 1: you believe it? 106.7 Light FM. Cubby, Christine, producer Kristen,
- 14:55Speaker 1: we love this little list we found. So Miami may
- 14:57Speaker 1: be famous for its nightlife and spring break parties, but
- 15:01Speaker 1: a new study says it's actually the most relaxing city
- 15:04Speaker 1: in America. According to a research study by a travel
- 15:07Speaker 1: technology company called Holafly, Miami ranked highest in the U.S.
- 15:12Speaker 1: for relaxation thanks to its year-round sunshine, miles of beaches,
- 15:16Speaker 1: wellness centers, hotel spas, and more than 1,000 acres of
- 15:19Speaker 1: urban green space.
- 15:20Speaker 3: That sounds good.
- 15:22Speaker 1: Yep. The study analyzed cities based on factors like access
- 15:26Speaker 1: to parks, air quality, happiness levels, traffic, and wellness amenities.
- 15:31Speaker 1: Miami earned a relaxation score of 63.3 out of 100
- 15:35Speaker 1: and was the only U.S. city to crack the global
- 15:39Speaker 1: top 10 of the most relaxing cities in the world.
- 15:43Speaker 1: So do you want to do the whole world? You
- 15:44Speaker 1: do it, Christine. I don't care if you do 1
- 15:45Speaker 1: to 10 or 10 to 1. Just what are the
- 15:47Speaker 1: most relaxing cities in the world? In the whole world. Okay.
- 15:50Speaker 1: All we know is Miami is in the top 10,
- 15:52Speaker 1: and that's the only city in America in the top 10.
- 15:54Speaker 3: All right. So in the whole world, the most relaxing
- 15:57Speaker 3: cities came in at number one, Copenhagen in Denmark.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Okay.
- 16:01Speaker 3: I've never been. You, Cubby?
- 16:02Speaker 1: I think I flew through there once.
- 16:04Speaker 3: You flew through. Okay, so you can't tell if you
- 16:06Speaker 3: could chill out there. Barcelona, Spain comes in second.
- 16:10Speaker 1: Never been. Want to go.
- 16:11Speaker 3: Definitely. And number three, my favorite, Vienna, Austria.
- 16:15Speaker 1: Have you been?
- 16:16Speaker 3: Well, twice now.
- 16:17Speaker 1: Oh, that's right. Yeah.
- 16:18Speaker 3: And I'm trying to go for a third time.
- 16:20Speaker 1: Because you love it that much.
- 16:21Speaker 3: I love it that much. So I've been talking to
- 16:22Speaker 3: Eric about this. I'm trying to get a plan together
- 16:25Speaker 3: where we could go to Vienna for the Christmas markets
- 16:30Speaker 3: and then go over to Salzburg because they have beautiful
- 16:32Speaker 3: markets too. But they do a Sound of Music tour.
- 16:35Speaker 1: It sounds like you've already mapped this out.
- 16:38Speaker 3: I did.
- 16:38Speaker 1: I did.
- 16:39Speaker 3: I just have to see.
- 16:40Speaker 1: So we know where you're going for the Christmas break already.
- 16:43Speaker 1: And your birthday break.
- 16:44Speaker 3: Yeah, thank you.
- 16:44Speaker 1: Because you're December 26th.
- 16:46Speaker 3: Yes, so if we can pull it off. Just a
- 16:49Speaker 3: side note.
- 16:49Speaker 1: Okay.
- 16:50Speaker 3: Vancouver, Canada comes in fourth. Vancouver's really beautiful. Oslo, Norway
- 16:54Speaker 3: in fifth. I'm looking at you, Cubby, because you get
- 16:58Speaker 3: out more than I do. Miami, Florida. They're at number six.
- 17:00Speaker 3: Number seven, Munich, Germany, which is beautiful.
- 17:02Speaker 1: I've been there. My wife used to live there, and
- 17:05Speaker 1: it is a very, very awesome town.
- 17:06Speaker 3: It's a great city.
- 17:07Speaker 1: It's a busy city, but there are also plenty of
- 17:09Speaker 1: ways to relax in Munich. There are.
- 17:10Speaker 3: It's laid out beautifully. Singapore.
- 17:12Speaker 1: Hello. Just there.
- 17:14Speaker 3: You were just there. You loved it, right?
- 17:16Speaker 1: And I absolutely loved it. It's almost like a Miami
- 17:18Speaker 1: in a way. Oh, wow. Like, yeah, it's busy. It's
- 17:20Speaker 1: got crazy nightlife and all that, but also... You've got
- 17:23Speaker 1: wellness centers, hotel spas, and lots of green space.
- 17:27Speaker 3: Wow.
- 17:27Speaker 1: So it's very similar to Miami.
- 17:29Speaker 3: Nice. Rome, Italy comes in ninth place.
- 17:32Speaker 1: That's another busy city, though. Yeah. You're walking a lot.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Love it.
- 17:35Speaker 3: I didn't find it relaxing, you know, because we were active.
- 17:39Speaker 3: I was like you, you know, 25,000 steps a day
- 17:41Speaker 3: because I want to see everything.
- 17:43Speaker 1: It's almost like you have to go into a vacation
- 17:45Speaker 1: saying to yourself, either we're doing a lot of work
- 17:48Speaker 1: in here and we're walking a lot, or we're going
- 17:50Speaker 1: to be just Relax. So if you go to Rome
- 17:52Speaker 1: with chill on your mind, maybe you could obtain that.
- 17:55Speaker 3: A whole different experience.
- 17:57Speaker 1: Right.
- 17:57Speaker 3: And number 10 is Amsterdam in the Netherlands. I'd also
- 18:00Speaker 3: like to go there.
- 18:01Speaker 1: It was just there in February. Yeah. It was very nice.
- 18:04Speaker 1: A little chilly in February, but it was very nice.
- 18:06Speaker 3: It's okay. It looks like a gorgeous city. You've got
- 18:08Speaker 3: Van Gogh. You have all that beautiful art.
- 18:10Speaker 1: All right. So if you want to relax, the only
- 18:12Speaker 1: place in America is Miami.
- 18:14Speaker 3: Miami.
- 18:15Speaker 1: And then you got the rest of the world to explore.
- 18:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:17Speaker 1: Explore. Light FM.
- 18:19Speaker 2: Mort Covey and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 18:22Speaker 2: Next on Light FM.
- 18:24Speaker 1: I was just in the men's room with Larry Medved,
- 18:26Speaker 1: and he works at WOR. Yeah, we're at the urinal together.
- 18:28Speaker 1: We were chatting.
- 18:29Speaker 3: Is that what happens? Uh-huh. Yeah.
- 18:31Speaker 1: Okay. And he said, have a good weekend. I said, well,
- 18:33Speaker 1: it's Thursday.
- 18:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:35Speaker 1: And he goes, ah, you know, tomorrow it's going to
- 18:36Speaker 1: be a ghost town around here. And the weekend is
- 18:38Speaker 1: beginning pretty much right now.
- 18:40Speaker 2: It is.
- 18:40Speaker 1: So, happy weekend on a Thursday feeling like a Friday.
- 18:44Speaker 1: It's Light FM, Cubby, Christine, Producer Kristen. And you were saying, Christine,
- 18:48Speaker 1: leave now if you have road trip plans. That's right.
- 18:50Speaker 2: Run.
- 18:51Speaker 3: Run now. Yes. Labor Day weekend. A lot of people
- 18:55Speaker 3: get an early start. Good for you. I don't blame you.
- 18:58Speaker 3: And they're leaving today. But according to AAA, the best
- 19:01Speaker 3: time to leave would be now. They're saying leave before
- 19:04Speaker 3: 1 p.m. today, Thursday. Worst time would be between 2
- 19:09Speaker 3: and 7 p.m. tonight. For tomorrow, if you need to
- 19:13Speaker 3: get going tomorrow, leave before 12 p.m. Worst time from
- 19:16Speaker 3: 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, they said, is best
- 19:20Speaker 3: before 10 a.m., worst 1 to 5. Sunday, minimal traffic expected.
- 19:26Speaker 3: You're where you need to be. Monday, best before 12,
- 19:30Speaker 3: worst between 2 and 5.
- 19:32Speaker 1: We're doing a family road trip. I told you this.
- 19:34Speaker 1: Down to Virginia Beach, Virginia to see my dad, their grandpa.
- 19:37Speaker 1: And we are going to be on the road at
- 19:39Speaker 1: the times you said will be the worst.
- 19:41Speaker 3: Oh.
- 19:41Speaker 1: So tomorrow at noon, we'll be going south on the turnpike. Oh. Okay.
- 19:47Speaker 1: And then I think we're coming back early Monday morning.
- 19:50Speaker 3: It does say best before 12 p.m. on Monday so
- 19:52Speaker 3: you guys are leaving early.
- 19:54Speaker 1: Well yeah like 7 a.m. Monday morning and but yeah
- 19:58Speaker 1: I'm dreading it I'm dreading it how long is the
- 20:00Speaker 1: drive so it's like five and a half hours more
- 20:03Speaker 1: like six hours and 15 with stops with the kids
- 20:06Speaker 1: but what it's the turnpike really that's the worst And
- 20:09Speaker 1: then we take, we don't go 95 when we go
- 20:11Speaker 1: to Virginia Beach. We get on 13, which is down
- 20:15Speaker 1: like the eastern shore.
- 20:16Speaker 3: Isn't nicer.
- 20:17Speaker 1: So that's when it becomes a little bit more freeing
- 20:19Speaker 1: and less traffic. Yeah, yeah. But, you know, it could happen.
- 20:23Speaker 1: You never know what could happen on Labor Day weekend. Right, right.
- 20:26Speaker 1: Just get me past, get me through the turnpike and
- 20:28Speaker 1: I'm usually pretty good. Okay. All right, let's do this.
- 20:32Speaker 1: A trivia battle. And I believe this will be our
- 20:34Speaker 1: final trivia battle of the week. All right, just FYI.
- 20:38Speaker 1: We're not going to do one tomorrow.
- 20:39Speaker 3: Yeah, we'll have giveaways tomorrow.
- 20:41Speaker 1: We'll have a giveaway tomorrow. We'll have the same giveaway
- 20:43Speaker 1: we have right now. What are we giving away?
- 20:44Speaker 3: Tickets to see Sara Bareilles, Friday, September 18th at Radio
- 20:48Speaker 3: City Music Hall.
- 20:48Speaker 1: You could be there.
- 20:49Speaker 3: Tickets available now at Ticketmaster.com or call and play with us.
- 20:53Speaker 1: 1-800-222-1067 and good luck.
- 20:56Speaker 2: More Covey and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 20:59Speaker 2: Next on Light FM.
- 21:01Speaker 1: You pretty good at trivia?
- 21:03Speaker 2: Light FM's Trivia Battle.
- 21:05Speaker 1: Well, Christine, on a Thursday morning, producer Kristen calls this
- 21:09Speaker 1: the Battle of Staten Island.
- 21:10Speaker 3: Okay.
- 21:11Speaker 1: Because both contestants are from Staten Island. On Team Cubby today,
- 21:14Speaker 1: Connie from Staten Island. Connie, good morning. What gets you
- 21:17Speaker 1: up so early? I have some errands to run today.
- 21:21Speaker 1: All right. And that's about it? Yeah, just trying to
- 21:24Speaker 1: take it easy. Okay, good for you, Connie.
- 21:27Speaker 3: Nice.
- 21:27Speaker 1: Well, I hope you've, you know, gotten your pop culture
- 21:29Speaker 1: trivia ready to go because we're going to throw some
- 21:31Speaker 1: questions at you after we meet your competition.
- 21:34Speaker 3: Which is Christopher. Good morning, Christopher.
- 21:36Speaker 2: Hi, good morning.
- 21:37Speaker 1: How are you?
- 21:38Speaker 3: We're doing great. You're in Staten Island as well. What
- 21:40Speaker 3: are your plans for the day? I am heading to work.
- 21:43Speaker 1: I work at the hospital as a nurse practitioner.
- 21:46Speaker 3: Oh, great. Thank you for taking care of us.
- 21:48Speaker 1: Yeah, and taking the time to call us. So we
- 21:51Speaker 1: have a lot of Cs here. We have Cubby, we
- 21:53Speaker 1: have Christine, we have Connie, we have Christopher. And here
- 21:55Speaker 1: we go, a trivia battle. You'll both get three questions.
- 21:58Speaker 1: The best out of three will win. Connie and Team Cubby,
- 22:01Speaker 1: question number one. Can you tell me which U.S. president
- 22:04Speaker 1: was once a baseball announcer? Was it A, Jimmy Carter, B,
- 22:08Speaker 1: Ronald Reagan, or C, George W. Bush? Jimmy Carter. Jimmy Carter. No,
- 22:15Speaker 1: it was the once actor as well, Ronald Reagan.
- 22:19Speaker 3: All right. All right, Christopher. Lionel Messi announced his retirement
- 22:22Speaker 3: from international soccer on Monday. What national team did he
- 22:26Speaker 3: play for? A, Portugal, B, Brazil, C, Argentina.
- 22:32Speaker 1: I believe it is Argentina.
- 22:34Speaker 3: You've got it.
- 22:34Speaker 1: Okay, we've got a 1-0 lead from Christopher, but Connie
- 22:37Speaker 1: can tie it up here. Connie, the competitors on the
- 22:41Speaker 1: next season of Dancing with the Stars... That was actually
- 22:44Speaker 1: announced yesterday morning. But can you tell me who won
- 22:47Speaker 1: last season of Dancing with the Stars? Was it A,
- 22:50Speaker 1: Hilaria Baldwin, B, Dylan Efron, or C, Robert Irwin? C,
- 22:58Speaker 1: Robert Irwin. Yes, you are correct. We got a tie
- 23:01Speaker 1: game here.
- 23:02Speaker 3: Christopher, in the 1994 movie Speed, Keanu Reeves rode a
- 23:05Speaker 3: public bus with Sandra Bullock traveling through which city? A, Manhattan, B, Boston, C,
- 23:11Speaker 3: Los Angeles.
- 23:14Speaker 1: I believe it was Los Angeles, see?
- 23:17Speaker 3: Yes, got it.
- 23:18Speaker 1: One of my favorite movies. Love that movie. All right,
- 23:20Speaker 1: so Christopher is up 2-1. I was born that year.
- 23:23Speaker 1: What's that?
- 23:24Speaker 3: He was born that year.
- 23:25Speaker 1: I was born in 94.
- 23:26Speaker 3: Just don't make comments. I'm going to hang up on you.
- 23:29Speaker 1: You've already lost, Christopher. That's it, you're done. Okay, you
- 23:34Speaker 1: have a 2-1 lead. Connie can tie it up here.
- 23:36Speaker 1: You ready, Connie?
- 23:36Speaker 3: Yes.
- 23:37Speaker 1: All right. Can you tell me the highest rated film
- 23:41Speaker 1: on IMDb as of January 1st of this year. So
- 23:46Speaker 1: it's basically the all-time greatest movie, in other words. Is
- 23:48Speaker 1: it A, Shawshank Redemption, B, Goodfellas, or C, Forrest Gump? B, Goodfellas. Oh,
- 23:56Speaker 1: great movie, but... No, it's A, Shawshank Redemption.
- 24:01Speaker 3: We head over to Christopher to let him know he's
- 24:04Speaker 3: the winner. Connie, you played a beautiful game. Thank you,
- 24:06Speaker 3: and you can always call again.
- 24:08Speaker 1: Okay, congratulations, Christopher.
- 24:10Speaker 2: Thank you so much.
- 24:11Speaker 3: I'm so excited.
- 24:12Speaker 1: I love Sara Bareilles.
- 24:13Speaker 2: I saw her at Zootopia years ago. I'm excited to
- 24:17Speaker 2: see her again.
- 24:18Speaker 1: Now you're rubbing it in because Connie's hearing all this
- 24:20Speaker 1: and she's not going. Sorry, Connie.
- 24:24Speaker 3: You're going to see Sara Bareilles. She will be at
- 24:26Speaker 3: Radio City Music Hall on Friday, September 18th, so you
- 24:29Speaker 3: save the date, okay?
- 24:30Speaker 1: Awesome. Thank you.
- 24:31Speaker 3: Thank you, Christopher.
- 24:32Speaker 1: Hold on one second. Kristen will get all the info
- 24:35Speaker 1: she needs from you and send you on the way.
- 24:37Speaker 2: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 24:41Speaker 2: Next on Light FM.
- 24:42Speaker 1: Happy Thursday, 106.7 Light FM. Cubby, Christine, producer Kristen producing
- 24:47Speaker 1: our show. It is September 3rd. Shout out to my wife.
- 24:49Speaker 1: Happy birthday, my dear Coco.
- 24:51Speaker 3: Yay, happy birthday, Coco.
- 24:53Speaker 1: Her birthday today. And we celebrate you, my dear. And
- 24:57Speaker 1: we love you. And Naomi and Miles love you. All
- 25:01Speaker 1: the cats love you. We all love you, Coco. My
- 25:04Speaker 1: credit card loves you.
- 25:05Speaker 3: It's her birthday.
- 25:07Speaker 1: It's her birthday, and she can buy whatever she wants.
- 25:09Speaker 1: But she's also our travel planner. Yes, she's amazing. She's
- 25:12Speaker 1: my travel agent. So we had a great vacation, and
- 25:16Speaker 1: she planned that all out.
- 25:17Speaker 3: Wow.
- 25:18Speaker 1: She's just amazing. She is. Honey, I love you, and
- 25:22Speaker 1: pick out a place for dinner tonight. I told her
- 25:23Speaker 1: to pick out a place for dinner. Because she cooks
- 25:25Speaker 1: all the time. Yeah. So you know what? You don't
- 25:28Speaker 1: cook tonight. We're taking you somewhere. So we'll do that.
- 25:30Speaker 3: Take a load off.
- 25:31Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Sit back and... But she does take
- 25:33Speaker 1: care of everybody, Christine, including our four cats. And she
- 25:37Speaker 1: occasionally talks to them. Yeah. But we all do that,
- 25:39Speaker 1: don't we?
- 25:39Speaker 3: I think so.
- 25:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:40Speaker 3: I thought it was normal. Here we go with one
- 25:42Speaker 3: of those studies. Researchers find that pet owners do. The
- 25:47Speaker 3: majority of us do talk to our cats. And they
- 25:49Speaker 3: say it's okay. And our dogs. That it's perfectly normal
- 25:52Speaker 3: to talk to your pet. But they said... A lot
- 25:55Speaker 3: of us go beyond, like, you're a good boy. They
- 25:57Speaker 3: found a lot of us use nicknames for our pets.
- 26:00Speaker 3: We ask them questions. We give them praise. And we
- 26:03Speaker 3: even share personal thoughts with them. And they say these
- 26:07Speaker 3: interactions may help explain why pets seem to improve some
- 26:11Speaker 3: people's well-being more than others. So the key, they said,
- 26:14Speaker 3: is not simply to have a pet, but to build
- 26:17Speaker 3: that bond with them.
- 26:17Speaker 1: I totally get it.
- 26:19Speaker 3: Archie knows my job. Deepest, darkest secrets.
- 26:22Speaker 1: Yeah, when your fiance is not around.
- 26:23Speaker 3: Yeah, I talk to Archie.
- 26:24Speaker 1: And you divulge a lot, right? And does Archie give advice?
- 26:29Speaker 3: He's a very good listener.
- 26:31Speaker 1: Is he?
- 26:31Speaker 3: He's very attentive. He seems very tuned in.
- 26:34Speaker 1: Never talks back.
- 26:35Speaker 3: Never talks back. Yeah, sometimes a little bit, a little meow,
- 26:38Speaker 3: but he's agreeing with me. But I have on occasion
- 26:41Speaker 3: been caught by Eric talking to Archie and then explaining
- 26:44Speaker 3: that one.
- 26:45Speaker 1: Eric tries to make a phone call to somebody, like,
- 26:47Speaker 1: can you help my woman? Yeah.
- 26:48Speaker 3: Eric's like, who are you talking to exactly? I'm like, oh, Archie.
- 26:52Speaker 3: But he also knows, too. He's like, you have that voice. Like,
- 26:55Speaker 3: I must talk to Archie a little bit. Like, he's
- 26:57Speaker 3: a baby. Right. You know.
- 26:58Speaker 1: And pets listen better than husbands, don't they?
- 27:01Speaker 3: Archie's a good listener. That's all I'll say. I don't
- 27:04Speaker 3: want to get you in trouble today.
- 27:05Speaker 1: Oh, I know. I know. Okay. You're busy with a giveaway.
- 27:08Speaker 3: 1-800-222-1067.
- 27:09Speaker 1: Looking for caller 10.
- 27:12Speaker 3: We've got a pair of tickets to see Disney World's
- 27:14Speaker 3: Collide concert tour featuring stars from The Descendants, Zombies, and
- 27:18Speaker 3: Camp Rock. Those are the films. On November 7th at
- 27:22Speaker 3: Barclays Center, November 8th at UBS Arena, or November 10th
- 27:25Speaker 3: at Prudential Center. Tickets on sale now at Ticketmaster.com or
- 27:29Speaker 3: give us a call.
- 27:30Speaker 1: Yeah, you'll win if your call are 10. Good luck.
