  open them to Mark chapter 6 and when you get there, I want to
• 0:36
  draw your attention to verse 30, Mark chapter 6, in verse 30.

  Jesus gives some instruction to his disciples there and it's a
• 0:50
  very important instruction one that we're going to repeat
• 0:54
  today. Mark, chapter 6, notice with me
• 0:58
  in verse 30, I'm going to read to you first one.

  New King James says then is Apostles gathered to Jesus and
• 1:04
  told him the things both what they had done and what they had
• 1:08
  taught and he said to them this and Mark this make sure you see
• 1:12
  this in your in your Bible. Mark these words come aside by
• 1:16
  yourselves to a deserted place and Mark this phrase rest a

  while, rest a while for there are many coming and going they

  didn't even have time to eat. So they departed to a deserted

  place in a boat by themselves. But the multitude You saw them

  came together to him and Jesus when he had come out, saw great

  phraseology, it's a more modern translation and I love the

  phraseology that they, that they used here.

  It says, Verse 30, the apostles returned to Jesus from their
• 2:03
  Ministry to her and told him, all they had done and taught,
• 2:06
  then Jesus said, let's go off by ourselves to a quiet place.

  And rest a while, and he said this, because there were so many
• 2:14
  people coming and going that Jesus and his paws, Apostles
• 2:18
  didn't have time to eat. So they left by a boat for a
• 2:21
  quiet place where they could be alone.

  And a couple of weeks ago, on our weekend Services, Pastor Ian

  and introduced To a to us a new song, it was actually two weeks

  ago. Exactly, he introduced to us a

  new song, it's entitled re surender re surrender.

  It's a song that's been on my playlist for some time.

  Now, my I was away with my son Pastor, Josh on doing a
• 2:47
  Ministry, men's retreat in Washington, a couple months ago
• 2:51
  and he was driving. So the rule in is our family.
• 2:54
  If you drive, you control the radio, And he was playing his
• 2:57
  playlist from his phone on the radio, in this song was playing
• 3:02
  and it caught my ear and I added it to my playlist and recently,
• 3:07
  you know, I was away some time with Marie and I had planned
• 3:10
  everything because I knew I'd be unplugged.
• 3:12
  So I was downloading stuff and dulling the audio books and
• 3:15
  making sure my playlist was downloaded when I finally looked
• 3:18
  at my phone on my vacation of my time away, nothing downloaded,
• 3:24
  except for my playlist. Which is worship music,
• 3:29
  different songs and things that I add to listen to later.
• 3:32
  This was one of them and I found that it was on repeat constantly
• 3:36
  constantly continually, and I've been listening to it, praying it
• 3:40
  over our family, praying it over my life, over my kids over my
• 3:45
  wife, my marriage making, real substantive changes being open
• 3:51
  to the Holy Spirit. Here's the beginning lyrics of
• 3:54
  that song. It says you're turning.
• 3:56
  Over tables and you're calling for Return To Live lives upon
• 4:01
  the altar. The things we did it.
• 4:04
  First you're clearing out the temple.
• 4:06
  You're cleaning out the dirt for we are your territory Lord.
• 4:10
  We are your church. We are your people and you are
• 4:14
  our God, we are your temple, make us holy like you are and
• 4:20
  then the song goes on. And it's just a just a wonderful
• 4:23
  way of Doing the need to remember where we Fallen.
• 4:30
  Repent and return. You know, you hear things like
• 4:33
  this, you read things. You're like, yeah, there's other
• 4:35
  churches that need their tables overturned or you know that
• 4:38
  Jesus would come. And if he came to our church he
• 4:40
  wouldn't over turntables but I'm here to remind you.
• 4:43
  There are many tables in this church that need to be
• 4:45
  overturned by the Lord. There are many tables in your
• 4:48
  own personal life that need to be overturned so that you might
• 4:53
  return to a holy Worship in the war there.
• 4:56
  There are many things that God has been knocking on the heart
• 4:59
  of your, the door of your heart, wanting to draw you to himself
• 5:02
  and you've been resistant and you've held back from him.
• 5:07
  It's interesting in this section in chapter 6 that Jesus I
• 5:11
  believe knowing what was up ahead called his Apostles to a
• 5:14
  time of rest alone and I think in our church we need to be
• 5:19
  called back to a time of rest. A time to be alone.
• 5:23
  Of course we're not getting to the mountains and we're not
• 5:25
  going away but instead Said symbolically, we're going to
• 5:28
  this, this time, this weekend. We're calling it.
• 5:31
  I think we're going to be doing this quite a bit, but we're
• 5:33
  calling this a re surrender weekend, where we create an
• 5:37
  environment where you can really seek the Lord, where you can
• 5:40
  really receive from the Lord, where you can hear in the room.
• 5:44
  You're not here to take notes and take Bible says, but you're
• 5:46
  here to to to receive a word from God, a confirmation a
• 5:51
  Direction. So in our time today, I want you
• 5:55
  to think of words like renewal and repentance rededication
• 6:03
  reconsecrate. Remember, rest and return.
• 6:10
  I didn't mean for them. All to be our words, but that's
• 6:12
  what they ended up being. I want you to think about where
• 6:14
  you are and where you need to be because we've been talking for a
• 6:18
  long time. Now, at least for a year coming
• 6:20
  out of those difficult years about God doing Something like
• 6:24
  just you get a sense of God rebuilding and repairing our
• 6:27
  church obviously last couple years sorted, things out people
• 6:31
  came. People went you know a lot of
• 6:33
  people left. A lot of people came, the god
• 6:35
  sorting things out. He's prepping us for.
• 6:37
  What's up ahead? What's next?
• 6:39
  Of course, a lot of people stuck around and those of us have been
• 6:42
  sneaking around with like, well, add, what's going to happen?
• 6:44
  When's it going to happen, what's gonna happen?
• 6:46
  When's it going to happen. In the answer is, I don't know,
• 6:48
  I don't know. It's kind of like, what Jesus
• 6:51
  said when he Shared with the disciples wait in Jerusalem to
• 6:56
  until the baptism until you're baptized with the Holy Spirit
• 6:59
  and if I was there I would have probably said well what is it
• 7:02
  going to be like when will we know and I believe he set the
• 7:06
  disciples up like he's setting us up right now you'll know when
• 7:10
  you know until then be faithful and obey me and wait and hear
• 7:16
  this invitation to get away and get a loan was just before a
• 7:21
  great outpouring of God's. His ministry to the people that
• 7:25
  so desperately wanted him. Yeah, they wanted him for
• 7:27
  different motives, different reasons, different things not
• 7:30
  doesn't matter. The response to needy people in
• 7:34
  response to a difficult world of response to all the stuff that's
• 7:38
  happening is compassion. That we might respond with a
• 7:41
  Compassionate Heart as it says here.
• 7:44
  In chapter 6. I mean A great miracle takes
• 7:47
  place and then Peter walks on water.
• 7:48
  I mean, this is the Breakthrough.
• 7:50
  It's so counterintuitive, but breakthroughs come just after
• 7:55
  rest. And here we are entering into a
• 7:59
  very busy holiday season. I think there's a practicality
• 8:01
  to this as well, you know, you can't help it even if you wanted
• 8:05
  to rest you know I think of a my schedule and all things there's
• 8:08
  going to be a lot of activity but spiritually, I need to enter
• 8:11
  in from a place of rest. I might be doing a lot of things
• 8:15
  and going a lot of places and serving a lot of people but I
• 8:18
  need to do it from a place of Abiding and rest.
• 8:22
  And in that place of rest, we're reminded that God is calling
• 8:27
  them to a calling us to himself and he's calling us to himself
• 8:32
  who in his very character is love.
• 8:38
  And I want to remind you today that you are loved by God.
• 8:42
  That it's important. That you remember the lavish
• 8:45
  love of God as Believers. You remember that, this isn't
• 8:49
  the syrupy Romantic. Hallmark movie, weirdness, get a
• 8:53
  coffee married in an hour. Love This is the agape love of
• 8:59
  God, the selfless self-sacrificial, how can I give
• 9:03
  my life for you? How can I give more of my life
• 9:07
  for you? How can I give parts of my life?
• 9:09
  I don't even know. I have for you.
• 9:12
  Type of love, it's an otherworldly love and the
• 9:17
  church. And our church needs to return
• 9:23
  to the love of God. First for ourselves, and also
• 9:27
  for others, that's the Breakthrough in the community.
• 9:30
  You know, you want to the message of the Gospel Goes Forth
• 9:33
  on the rails. If the gospel message was like a
• 9:35
  train, It Goes Forth on the rails of luff love takes us
• 9:40
  exactly where God would want us. There's a Greek word, you might
• 9:44
  just remember it. Some of you already know it, but
• 9:46
  it's a Greek word because the Bible, the New Testament was
• 9:49
  written in Greek, that you can remember.
• 9:51
  This type of love, it's a god, they love It's God's self
• 9:55
  sacrificial, love for you. And for me.
• 9:58
  So what we're going to be doing today is we're going to be
• 10:01
  worshiping together in the various songs and leadership.
• 10:05
  In a moment, I'm going to hand over the leadership of our time
• 10:08
  together to pasture Ian and he, and the team are going to take
• 10:11
  the rest of our service. With the giftings God has given
• 10:14
  to him. He's prayerfully chosen.
• 10:16
  Various songs for us. So that we might have different
• 10:19
  words sewn into our hearts, and they might not only come to us,
• 10:22
  but my come out of Of us. And I'm asking you for a posture
• 10:28
  like a conscious posture to present yourself to God today, a
• 10:32
  Living Sacrifice. Now, let me just say ahead of
• 10:36
  time and speak to some of the folks that are thinking.
• 10:38
  Right now this is often a time where people will say I don't
• 10:42
  come for the music. I come for the Bible study. and
• 10:46
  let me just say, if you come here for the music or you come
• 10:49
  here for the Bible study, those are both wrong motives The
• 10:54
  reason why we might Gather in community is so they might
• 10:58
  worship the one true God physically in person and it
• 11:02
  involves a lot of different things that can involve a Psalm
• 11:05
  reading. Or, you know, thinking today,
• 11:07
  allowing it all soak in the other services didn't get this.
• 11:09
  You guys did today a little four-year-old almost
• 11:13
  five-year-old in the arms of her daddy, with their family
• 11:16
  surrounded in the pasture surrounding, her is a picture
• 11:19
  and a type of Jesus saying, let the little children come unto
• 11:22
  me. And we might be a few advanced
• 11:25
  in years ourselves, but Jesus is Calling you.
• 11:28
  Let the little children come to me.
• 11:30
  He's inviting you to himself and if the Church of Jesus in these
• 11:34
  last days is going to make the difference that God seriously
• 11:39
  desires to use us, we need to be in a position of usability.
• 11:43
  We can't keep making excuses for ourselves and our behaviors and
• 11:47
  our attitudes. And instead we just want to
• 11:50
  surrender to him or today. Perhaps re surrender.
• 11:54
  So you have to make a posture. Yeah, you could walk out.
• 11:57
  I'm going to pray in a moment and my eyes will be closed and I
• 11:59
  probably won't You walk out but that's you're not walking out on
• 12:03
  me. I have nothing to gain
• 12:05
  personally through this service or anything here.
• 12:08
  Nothing I personally, I had nothing personal to gain.
• 12:11
  This isn't for me, this is for us.
• 12:15
  This is our church. This is what God's doing here,
• 12:18
  God spoke. So clearly at that service, when
• 12:20
  that song was introduced that we needed to do this and today was
• 12:24
  the day because I wanted to do it last week, but Pastor Ian was
• 12:27
  already scheduled to be way. So we didn't we Did for him to
• 12:30
  get back because it was he's the one that's going to help us do
• 12:33
  this with the team, he's assembled.

  So if this is new to you, we've done this one time before.

  You know, we usually do worship nights on Wednesdays easy to be
• 12:41
  flexible on Wednesdays on Sundays, everybody gets all
• 12:44
  nervous and know I can't believe it.

  It's so different. Oh that's fine.

  Just learn. Learn to go with the flow.

  Let the spirit of God ministered to you.

  And and it's if you feel like you need to go, I was almost
• 12:55
  going to say it's okay. Like you can it's not okay.

  So I'm not going to give you any kind of a Deauville for you to
• 13:01
  ditch your church because you don't like something we're
• 13:03
  doing, it's not from the Lord. That's the exact opposite of why
• 13:07
  we're doing this. So if you can cost you yourself
• 13:11
  because you know, when I say that, I think of my dad, my dad,
• 13:14
  when he was in church, did not like the music at all.
• 13:16
  It didn't matter, but I taught my dad dad, you got to sit
• 13:20
  through it. God's doing something, even
• 13:22
  through something, you don't like, and let me even say this
• 13:25
  and my dad's in heaven right now, and he's going.
• 13:26
  Yes, son. You're right.

  Son, you're right, I'm fine. I heard it.

  From Jesus himself, I'm worshiping him now.

  Learning all the songs instead of sitting there like this
• 13:38
  waiting for the Bible study. So father I pray as we enter
• 13:41
  into this time the you would have your way with us.
• 13:46
  We release God ourselves to you in a fresh way.
• 13:50
  We want to learn today with a sense of your presence in the
• 13:55
  midst of a chaotic and hectic life.
• 13:59
  Hurts and pains and grief and fear and anxiety.
• 14:02
  We banish them and we Vanquish them in Jesus name by faith.
• 14:08
  And we respond to your invitation to come to you.
• 14:11
  We were invite. You come, Holy Spirit, fill us.
• 14:15
  Make us who you want us to be. Remind us, teach us show us.
• 14:20
  Give us a vision of the cross that we might learn of Your
• 14:23
  Love. Receive it and give it today.
• 14:29
  And so God, we follow you call us and we follow, you want to
• 14:34
  turn tables over point which one they are.
• 14:37
  Tell us where we veered off. Minister to that pain Point into
• 14:42
  that marriage, into that singleness minister to that
• 14:46
  Financial fear, and that concern about where I'm going to live
• 14:50
  and what am I doing in Colorado, fear, Let It Be War.
• 14:53
  Where am I supposed to be? What's my future?
• 14:56
  What church am I supposed to be in?
• 14:57
  Where am I supposed to all of the questions?

  We lay them before you, we ask God that you administer to us in
• 15:05
  Jesus name. Amen.

  I've been thinking about this phrase and and one of my

  favorite Christmas songs, a thrill of Hope I found that in
• 24:48
  my own life. I've minimize what this thrill
• 24:51
  of Hope is and I was thinking about, From The Book of Malachi
• 24:58
  to Matthew Wright, 400 years of silence or hundred years where
• 25:04
  generation after generation after generation after
• 25:07
  generation. It was seemingly.
• 25:13
  Nothing from God. No new prophets.
• 25:18
  No angels. That descended No, Audible Voice
• 25:22
  spoken. And so for 400 years, it was
• 25:27
  just the promise that was passed down generation to generation.
• 25:32
  This hope that was passed down from generation to generation.
• 25:38
  To give us some perspective us as a country America, is only
• 25:43
  246 years old. and I kept thinking to myself, even if it
• 25:49
  was one year from myself, one year of not feeling the presence
• 25:55
  of God. One year of not hearing from
• 25:59
  God. And how easy it might be for
• 26:04
  myself to lose hope. And what that must have felt
• 26:12
  like to hear on this day, your savior is born.

  For and years of Silence. In one day, one instance, this
• 26:24
  thrill of Hope No longer no longer.
• 26:30
  Was it just this abstract promise, it was concrete truth.
• 26:39
  God had provided. Maybe you're feeling a weight
• 26:59
  today of God, not providing. I want to encourage you, he has
• 27:15
  He has sent his son, Jesus. Jesus humbly came to lay his
• 27:27
  life down for you. He initiated surrender.

  We can respond in surrendering. We want to teach you this
• 27:44
  Christmas song. That we wrote last year.

  Just speaks to that. This thrill of Hope.

  Who wrapped up in cloth, give it to us.

  But soon set things, right? This was the sign.

  The claim by the angel. For the soul, that's weary the

  heart. That's Heavy, bitter cold, and

  dark needing lies in silence. Now, broken, its glories

  revealed there is joy for everyone.

  Eternity has Fred from his feet. and still, I
