- 0:00SPEAKER_00: And it's just such a beautiful reminder that we don't always know where our stories will land for someone or how they'll carry them or remember them.
- 0:10SPEAKER_00: But we still have to be willing to have the courage to open up and share them.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: Because when we do, again, that's where the magic happens.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: That's what forms that instant connection.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: That's what makes you memorable.
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: Welcome to the Favorite Self podcast.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: I like to think of it not as your future self or your best self, but your favorite self.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: My favorite self that just makes me feel the truest version of me.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: What lights your favorite self on fire?
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: I'm Carly Ottaway, founder, author, storyteller, and a woman who learned that building a successful life means nothing if it doesn't feel like yours.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: This podcast is for women who are building businesses, raising families, leading movements, and asking themselves, is this it or is there more available to me?
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: This is your invitation to come back to yourself.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: Let's dig in.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: Welcome back to the Favorite Self Podcast.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: I'm coming to you solo again today, which I'm so excited about.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: It's been a little while since I've recorded a solo episode because I've had the pleasure of being joined by the Web of Words team on a couple episodes that would normally be scheduled for solo episodes.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: I recorded with my husband and business partner Luke a few weeks ago.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: If you haven't listened to that one, definitely go back and check it out.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: And then our teen copywriter and SEO strategist Jen, who poured in so many amazing tips a couple weeks ago as well.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: So be sure to listen to those two if you haven't yet.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: But I'm joining you today.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: I feel like I am I'm coming off of a week of events, and I feel like I'm still catching up emotionally in the best way.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: Last week was the high vibe women full day experience.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: It was actually four events back to back to back for me.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: And I got to host a live podcast conversation with one of my biggest expanders, Kathleen Cameron.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: And I have so much I want to share with you about that conversation, but also just about the full experience, about the women in the room, about the speakers and the takeaways, and what's really been the shifting for me since.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: And recording this podcast is actually part of how I am processing it all.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: So we are integrating together today.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: And yeah, there were so many incredible takeaways from the speakers.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: But one of the biggest things that I've actually been reflecting on is who I was when I first walked into this community and who I've become since because I keep coming back to this room.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: So I was at the very first high vibe women event back in January 2024, which honestly, in some ways, feels like a lifetime ago and also feels like just yesterday.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: And I've been at every single full day event since.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: And every time I walk into that room, it feels like coming home.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: Which, if you know me, if you've read my book, literally called coming home, you know I don't use that term lightly.
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: There are always like so many new faces that I get to meet, and the room keeps growing, which is so exciting.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: I'm meeting new people and making new friends every single time.
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: But somehow it still also has this feeling of being this big reunion, this like big family reunion, and it's truly a beautiful sense of belonging, and it makes me feel look forward to it every time, so so much.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: And can't even imagine missing one because the FOMO would just be out of control.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: I actually recently shared two photos on Instagram in a post.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: One photo was me, Christina, and Maria, the co-founders of High Bye Women, at that first event just over two years ago.
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: And then the other photo was one of us on stage at the latest event.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: And looking at them side by side honestly stopped me in my tracks.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: And it hasn't even been three years, but there is this crazy visual transformation.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: Like you can see it absolutely just by looking at these photos.
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: But what I keep thinking about is actually everything that you can't see in the photos because I feel like a completely different person.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: And I remember at that first event, my book was still just a dream on my heart.
- 4:39SPEAKER_00: I think I actually, it was something that I claimed in one of the exercises that we did.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: And it was, yes, starting to take shape in the pages of my journal, but I had not brought it out into the world yet.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: And then fast forward, this has become the community where I got to celebrate the launch of my book.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: My I spoke on stage at that event and my book went into the swag bags.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: And yeah, it's wild to think about just how much I this community was part of that massive dream coming to life for me.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: And then this podcast, at that first event in 2024, I didn't even really see myself as someone who would have a podcast.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: I'm not gonna lie.
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: I kept hearing again and again how valuable it could be.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: I saw it from working with our clients, but I was still pushing it off.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: I was still just kind of like putting on the oh, maybe eventually list.
- 5:41SPEAKER_00: And now here I am hosting a live podcast room, sitting on the main stage with one of my biggest expanders, Kathleen Cameron.
- 5:52SPEAKER_00: It's actually so wild to think about.
- 5:55SPEAKER_00: And the part that I really love most is how so many of us in this room have been evolving and growing alongside each other.
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: I think that's the beauty of it all.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: And I have had the absolute privilege of having a front row seat, literally, to watching Christina and Maria grow.
- 6:19SPEAKER_00: And I've watched my friends in this community take stages, launch things, share their incredible stories, and really just step into and become more fully themselves.
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: We've gotten to witness each other in our becoming.
- 6:36SPEAKER_00: And there's just something so special about being able to look at someone and think, I remember when that was just an idea that you were talking about.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: And now look at you.
- 6:49SPEAKER_00: Literally, this reflection just happened last week.
- 6:53SPEAKER_00: We were doing a networking event that Gazzi was leading us through, and it was like musical chairs, and we're walking around the room, and I passed by my friend Palek, who I first met at one of those networking sessions at High Five Women a couple years earlier.
- 7:11SPEAKER_00: And she was the first person in that moment, in that networking session, that I told about my dream to publish my book.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: And at the same time, she told me about her dream to launch her own show called In the Room.
- 7:27SPEAKER_00: And then here she is at this event.
- 7:29SPEAKER_00: She's launched her show, she's thriving, she's so in her authenticity and her element.
- 7:35SPEAKER_00: And she was even doing a fun little series to feature high vibe as part of In the Room, being in the room at High Vibe Women.
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: Go check it out if you haven't yet.
- 7:44SPEAKER_00: And so we just like shared that little exchange, and it really felt so magical.
- 7:52SPEAKER_00: And I love stories like this.
- 7:56SPEAKER_00: And again, being able to go back to see where it all began.
- 8:01SPEAKER_00: I know from Christina and Maria that High Vi Women started from a brunch.
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: It was a brunch of, I think, 12 women.
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: And ultimately, it was this idea that they had, a need that they wanted to fill for themselves first and foremost, because they were feeling isolated and they were craving in-person community.
- 8:28SPEAKER_00: And now they have a room that they're hosting of 220 people.
- 8:36SPEAKER_00: And the reality is that there's no way that they could have known every person who would walk through those doors at this last event.
- 8:46SPEAKER_00: They would couldn't have possibly known every friendship that would form, every conversation that would take shape, everything that would shift for the people that have become a part of this community.
- 9:00SPEAKER_00: But they trusted that idea.
- 9:03SPEAKER_00: They trusted that ping, that intuitive download, whether Christina would admit to calling it that or not.
- 9:09SPEAKER_00: They trusted it enough to say yes and to begin and to take the risk and to put themselves out there.
- 9:17SPEAKER_00: And as a close friend of mine, I have gotten to see how naturally building community comes to them.
- 9:27SPEAKER_00: It's absolutely their superpower.
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: I also know their astrology and human design, of course.
- 9:32SPEAKER_00: So I see those connections between their gifts and what they're creating.
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: Marie and I have taken a deep dive exploring hers through the brand mirror as well.
- 9:41SPEAKER_00: And to me, this is just such a beautiful example of what happens when you are doing work that feels so deeply connected to who you are.
- 9:52SPEAKER_00: And they've kept doing it their way along the way, with their own boundaries, with their own vision.
- 9:58SPEAKER_00: They get so much feedback, they get so many ideas from all the events that they go to, but they ultimately come back and tune into staying true to themselves, their mission, their vision, their goals.
- 10:15SPEAKER_00: And I think it's so incredible to see.
- 10:19SPEAKER_00: And I also just really want to acknowledge the courage that that takes because hosting something like this is so vulnerable.
- 10:29SPEAKER_00: You are putting your ideas, your energy, and something that you care about genuinely so much in front of hundreds of people.
- 10:40SPEAKER_00: And that's just people in the room, let alone people online who are watching.
- 10:45SPEAKER_00: And you have to be willing to let people have different experiences of it along the way as well.
- 10:52SPEAKER_00: We're all different, we're all gonna have different takeaways, we're all gonna have different perspectives.
- 10:57SPEAKER_00: And that's something that I've been thinking about a lot in my own work as well, because as entrepreneurs, of course, we want to create something meaningful, we want to serve people well.
- 11:10SPEAKER_00: And we have to trust that everyone around us, everyone that we work with, everyone that we connect with, they get to decide what resonates with them.
- 11:26SPEAKER_00: I want to go back to Christine and Maria's a message that they shared in their introduction for the event because it has stuck with me so much.
- 11:37SPEAKER_00: They talked about this being a room where miracles happen.
- 11:42SPEAKER_00: And I felt that so much.
- 11:45SPEAKER_00: I look back at everything that has unfolded since that first event, and I can absolutely see so clearly how being in this community has been such a huge part of it.
- 11:55SPEAKER_00: The relationships I've had, the connections, the conversations, the moments when someone else's courage to stand up on stage, to share their story, to share their message has helped me tap into more of my own.
- 12:14SPEAKER_00: It's been so expansive.
- 12:17SPEAKER_00: And again, even in the days since this event, it's only been a few days, but I have noticed these beliefs coming up that I am ready to question.
- 12:32SPEAKER_00: And there are things that have felt so fixed in a lot of ways, maybe more so on a subconscious level, and suddenly it feels like they're more available for change.
- 12:47SPEAKER_00: And for me, that's part of what I mean when I talk about feeling a quantum leap, feeling that energy of something has shifted internally, and I'm noticing how I want to move differently because of it.
- 13:03SPEAKER_00: So let me take you on a journey through the day with me.
- 13:07SPEAKER_00: So Renee Walker started our day with this beautiful meditation, which I absolutely loved.
- 13:13SPEAKER_00: I just feel like this is the best way to start this kind of event because it really gives us a chance to get out of our heads and into our bodies before taking in all of the information.
- 13:25SPEAKER_00: And she guided us through imagining turning up the dial and tuning into infinite possibility.
- 13:34SPEAKER_00: And it felt like such an intentional way to begin the day, to really actually pause long enough to actually arrive in the space and be so present.
- 13:46SPEAKER_00: And Renee's also a good friend of mine.
- 13:50SPEAKER_00: So I've known her for many years.
- 13:52SPEAKER_00: She's, I remember actually meeting her when she joined a mastermind that I had many years ago.
- 13:59SPEAKER_00: And so watching her up there, leading that room, totally in her power, was truly its own kind of magic.
- 14:07SPEAKER_00: And there was so much of that throughout the day.
- 14:10SPEAKER_00: Watching women that I love do what they are so good at.
- 14:16SPEAKER_00: And that is just the best feeling in the world.
- 14:20SPEAKER_00: And then we moved into Raya Coach Carey's keynote on confidence, which landed exactly at the right time for me because in the weeks leading up to this event, I had definitely been going through a bit of a roller coaster and experiencing some self-doubt for sure.
- 14:39SPEAKER_00: I was in one of those growth stretches where you feel like you're doing a lot, you're putting yourself out there.
- 14:46SPEAKER_00: And at the same time, you're still questioning yourself.
- 14:51SPEAKER_00: And one of the things she talked about was the power of looking for the receipts, which I love this exercise.
- 14:57SPEAKER_00: And it was just such a good reminder of looking back at what you've actually done and making a list, literally writing down, making a list of your achievements and letting yourself own them.
- 15:09SPEAKER_00: And I needed that reminder because I don't know about you, but I can move past something I once dreamt about so quickly.
- 15:18SPEAKER_00: It happens.
- 15:19SPEAKER_00: I sit in the gratitude for a minute, and then my attention goes straight to whatever I'm planning next, whatever else I haven't figured out yet.
- 15:27SPEAKER_00: And meanwhile, there is this evidence that I can do the hard things.
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: I can follow through.
- 15:34SPEAKER_00: I can have the courage to take the leap.
- 15:36SPEAKER_00: I can trust myself to take big risks, to live in the discomfort of the uncertainty.
- 15:43SPEAKER_00: And I've already grown through so much that I'm fully capable of growing into what's next.
- 15:53SPEAKER_00: So she also used this image that I loved about our thought patterns being like train tracks.
- 16:02SPEAKER_00: She talked about how we've traveled certain routes so often that they feel automatic.
- 16:08SPEAKER_00: And so the train tracks are cemented in.
- 16:12SPEAKER_00: And at the same time, through consistent intentional practice, we can begin to build different routes and cement those roots in, which is, I mean, that's how the subconscious mind works in rewiring the subconscious and rewriting those stories behind your limiting beliefs.
- 16:32SPEAKER_00: And I really liked thinking about confidence that way because it's something that I can practice through the way that I speak to myself, absolutely, through what I pay attention to, and really through whether I actually let my own achievements count and let them mean something.
- 16:52SPEAKER_00: And this was really especially helpful knowing I was taking the stage later that day.
- 16:57SPEAKER_00: I felt like it really set the tone for the day.
- 17:02SPEAKER_00: And then the next keynote was Katrina Owens, who has been on the podcast, is also a good friend of mine.
- 17:09SPEAKER_00: We have an amazing story because we found out last year at High Five Women in the spring that we actually went to the same high school, which is wild.
- 17:18SPEAKER_00: We talk about this in her episode of the Favorite Self podcast.
- 17:21SPEAKER_00: We can link it in the show notes.
- 17:23SPEAKER_00: And so Katrina and I are both small town girls, and I got to see her on stage, just lighting it up so in her authentic magnetic energy.
- 17:33SPEAKER_00: And one of the messages she shared that really stayed with me was the power of becoming your own first investor and really backing yourself and being willing to bet on yourself and put something on the line behind the ideas and the work that you believe in.
- 17:53SPEAKER_00: And I can connect to that in so many moments throughout my own life and business.
- 17:59SPEAKER_00: And I loved how she what she shared about personal branding, how your unique framework really has so much value.
- 18:07SPEAKER_00: That the value of your ideas is infinite.
- 18:12SPEAKER_00: And we can be so close to something that comes so naturally to us because we've been doing it for years, maybe, or it's one of our unique superpowers.
- 18:20SPEAKER_00: And then it's so easy for us to underestimate it, to dismiss it completely.
- 18:25SPEAKER_00: And that could be something like your perspective, the way you see a problem, the process that you've developed, the way you go about helping someone understand something or see themselves or connect the thread.
- 18:39SPEAKER_00: And there's so much value in that.
- 18:42SPEAKER_00: And so that actually also really connected with the conversation at the VIP night.
- 18:48SPEAKER_00: There was a panel all about exiting a business, which my friend Stacy was on.
- 18:53SPEAKER_00: And what stuck with me from that was like really recognizing that the intellectual property, the IP that you're creating can become an asset within the business.
- 19:04SPEAKER_00: And so it just really had me thinking so much about how much we create that we don't fully acknowledge or document or ultimately give ourselves credit for.
- 19:15SPEAKER_00: And then while we're talking about the VIP night, I also want to share my honest perspective because sometimes I find mastermind tables a little overwhelming.
- 19:28SPEAKER_00: I've always loved how High Vibe has done it, but it also can be overwhelming for me as well, because you are receiving so much strategy usually in a short amount of time, hearing from so many different perspectives, both with in the coaches that are rotating the tables and the people at your table who are asking the questions.
- 19:48SPEAKER_00: And sometimes the advice is different depending on who you're talking to, which I think is also the beauty of it.
- 19:54SPEAKER_00: Remembering that there's so many different ways to do things.
- 19:57SPEAKER_00: It's not a one-size-fits-all, it's not a perfect formula for success.
- 20:02SPEAKER_00: And so I can find myself in those moments trying to process all of it at once.
- 20:08SPEAKER_00: And what I always learn and take away from these moments is how important it is to stay connected to my own discernment.
- 20:17SPEAKER_00: I can appreciate someone's perspective and still just pause and take time to decide if and how it applies to me.
- 20:29SPEAKER_00: Even if I think it's really freaking cool what they've created.
- 20:32SPEAKER_00: But then I realize, like, actually, but that's not the path that I want to take.
- 20:37SPEAKER_00: And that doesn't feel aligned for me personally, or that's not actually what I even want.
- 20:43SPEAKER_00: And so, yeah, that was something that I also loved actually about the panel the following day for the full day experience.
- 20:51SPEAKER_00: The women were willing to offer different perspectives.
- 20:55SPEAKER_00: They literally said, like, okay, I can appreciate that.
- 20:57SPEAKER_00: Here's what I think, here's my perspective.
- 20:59SPEAKER_00: They didn't agree on every single thing.
- 21:01SPEAKER_00: And it was so refreshing, honestly, because we are building different businesses.
- 21:07SPEAKER_00: We are all unique humans.
- 21:08SPEAKER_00: We all have different priorities, values, capacities, and goals, let alone different soul blueprints that related to our design, whether it's our human design, our astrology, the way our superpowers, our unique gifts, our purpose on this planet.
- 21:28SPEAKER_00: And so the opportunity here is that you get to listen, you get to stay curious, and you get to decide what is meant for you.
- 21:37SPEAKER_00: I also absolutely loved the connection networking session at the VIP night, hosted by my friend Imbal, who is so amazing and has become one of my favorite parts of High Vibe, is reconnecting with her.
- 21:50SPEAKER_00: She's traveling all the way from California.
- 21:52SPEAKER_00: And she set up us up at the table.
- 21:55SPEAKER_00: We had these questions that were designed to really help us skip the small talk.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: And that is like to my core what I love.
- 22:03SPEAKER_00: Like, let's skip the small talk, let's get to the real juicy meat of it all.
- 22:09SPEAKER_00: And yeah, right up my alley.
- 22:11SPEAKER_00: And I just found it so cool to reflect on how amazing it is that how quickly we got into the stories that were clearly meant to be shared.
- 22:21SPEAKER_00: There was just such a clear thread connecting that initial question and prompt and then the questions that came afterwards.
- 22:29SPEAKER_00: And we got to go deep so fast.
- 22:32SPEAKER_00: And it was just a real highlight for me, for sure.
- 22:36SPEAKER_00: Okay, back to the full day experience.
- 22:37SPEAKER_00: I know I'm jumping around a little bit here, but during the full day experience, we had a chance to go to different breakout sessions, workshops.
- 22:46SPEAKER_00: And I went to Angie's workshop.
- 22:48SPEAKER_00: I couldn't stay for the whole thing because I needed to kind of take some time to myself to prep for the podcast that was happening next.
- 22:55SPEAKER_00: But in her room, I definitely felt like I heard exactly what I needed.
- 23:00SPEAKER_00: She talked about how much your presence matters in your business, the energy that you bring, the way that you take up space, and ultimately the feeling that you leave people with after they have shared the experience with you.
- 23:16SPEAKER_00: Heading into my live podcast conversation, that really helped just bring me back to myself, tap into my body language, to being really present, and also to just letting myself enjoy what I was about to do.
- 23:33SPEAKER_00: Because I love helping people share stories.
- 23:37SPEAKER_00: I love finding the questions that really let an audience connect with the person in front of them and being that channel for them and for the questions as well.
- 23:49SPEAKER_00: And I wanted to make sure I was bringing all of myself to that moment on stage with Kathleen.
- 23:58SPEAKER_00: I'm interrupting this episode briefly to ask you a question.
- 24:01SPEAKER_00: What if your business could feel more like your favorite self too?
- 24:06SPEAKER_00: If you've grown, evolved, or stepped into a new chapter, but your brand hasn't quite caught up, that's where we come in.
- 24:14SPEAKER_00: At Web of Words, the creative agency I lead with my partner Luke, we help service-based businesses bring their brilliance to life through strategic branding, websites, and social media marketing.

- 25:03SPEAKER_00: I'll leave the link in the show notes.
- 25:05SPEAKER_00: So let's get into it.
- 25:07SPEAKER_00: If you listened to my life and business update back in the summer, you heard the story of how I manifested Kathleen Cameron to be my guest.
- 25:19SPEAKER_00: And it started back, just a quick recap when I saw her speak at my friend Sarah's event, Her Legacy Live in June.
- 25:26SPEAKER_00: Maria, High Vibe Women Maria was sitting right beside me.
- 25:30SPEAKER_00: And I turned to her in that moment that Kathleen was on stage, and I was just like, it has got to be her.
- 25:35SPEAKER_00: Kathleen was talking about the power of believing in something as if it's already done.
- 25:43SPEAKER_00: And that was exactly how I felt about having her in the high vibe room, having her in the live podcast room with me.
- 25:50SPEAKER_00: I literally could feel it in my body.
- 25:53SPEAKER_00: And then, fast forward, suddenly, there we were, sitting on stage together, having this conversation that I had been imagining for months.
- 26:04SPEAKER_00: And what I really loved about this was how in sync I felt with her up on stage.
- 26:11SPEAKER_00: I felt like we were so dialed into this shared frequency.
- 26:16SPEAKER_00: I mean, she is so expansive, just being in her energy.
- 26:20SPEAKER_00: And also, there I was doing something I love.
- 26:24SPEAKER_00: She was sharing her story and what she loves and what comes so naturally and easily to her and her superpower.
- 26:33SPEAKER_00: And we got to bring the room on that journey with us.
- 26:38SPEAKER_00: And I knew that Kathleen's story would completely expand people's sense of what's possible.
- 26:48SPEAKER_00: I also knew people would have different responses to it.
- 26:52SPEAKER_00: Because when someone shares a level of success that feels maybe far outside of your own experience, it can bring up a lot.
- 27:03SPEAKER_00: It can bring up some curiosity, it can bring up some excitement and inspiration, it can also bring up skepticism, it can bring up comparison, and I just think it's important to acknowledge that there is room to be thoughtful and inquisitive about all of that.
- 27:25SPEAKER_00: You can hear someone's stories, you can ask questions, and you get to decide what you take from it.
- 27:31SPEAKER_00: Once again, you can notice if something has touched on a belief you hold about what's possible.
- 27:39SPEAKER_00: And especially when that actually maybe is a subconscious belief that you didn't even realize was there, that's where the magic happens.
- 27:47SPEAKER_00: So I've following the event, I've received so many messages from women who have told me that it was the highlight of their day.
- 27:56SPEAKER_00: And it just like really brought up massive aha moments for them.
- 27:59SPEAKER_00: But also acknowledging the discomfort of that as well.
- 28:03SPEAKER_00: I've had other women who have also messaged me and let me know that there were parts of the conversation that actually really triggered them.
- 28:11SPEAKER_00: And they also have the self-awareness in those moments to ask why and to get really curious about why.
- 28:18SPEAKER_00: And that's the work.
- 28:20SPEAKER_00: That's what matters.
- 28:22SPEAKER_00: And so I so appreciate, first of all, the openness of them sharing that with me and also just taking the time to get curious with themselves.
- 28:30SPEAKER_00: That's the integration.
- 28:32SPEAKER_00: That's what we should be doing now, this week.
- 28:35SPEAKER_00: Well, as you're listening to this, if you haven't taken that time yet, take this as a reminder to carve that out for yourself.
- 28:42SPEAKER_00: For me, also just spending time with Kathleen beyond the stage was also super special.
- 28:48SPEAKER_00: We got to hang out the night before.
- 28:50SPEAKER_00: She drove us home from the VIP night, and we had a great conversation in like six minutes on our drive back to the hotel that sparked a major aha moment and shift for me in actually a personal relationship based on Kathleen sharing her own story.
- 29:05SPEAKER_00: And we also got to hang out the next morning while we were getting our makeup done.
- 29:10SPEAKER_00: She came and hung out in the hotel room.
- 29:12SPEAKER_00: She was just so generous with her time and with her presence and her energy.
- 29:18SPEAKER_00: And I just wanted to acknowledge that because I think sometimes when someone has maybe been an expander for you from a distance, having the chance to get to know them more personally really lets you experience their humanity alongside everything that you admire about them.
- 29:35SPEAKER_00: And so I'm still honestly processing just how meaningful that was for me.
- 29:39SPEAKER_00: I have so much gratitude for Kathleen and the way that she showed up.
- 29:45SPEAKER_00: And it also is exciting because it makes me wonder when I look back on this moment, when two years from now in 2028, what will I see then?
- 29:55SPEAKER_00: What will I be reflecting on?
- 29:56SPEAKER_00: What will that recap be focused on?
- 30:01SPEAKER_00: And what am I going to be living?
- 30:03SPEAKER_00: What's my reality at that time that only maybe feels like an idea in my heart right now or a vision or a shift that I'm being pulled towards?
- 30:14SPEAKER_00: But maybe it's also something I don't even see for myself yet.
- 30:18SPEAKER_00: And that is the beauty of it and the excitement of it.
- 30:21SPEAKER_00: And that's what Christina and Maria, I think, mean when they say miracles happen in this room, like literally miracles that we can't even fathom.
- 30:28SPEAKER_00: We haven't even wrapped our heads around because 2024 me never would have had the vision of sitting up on stage with interviewing Kathleen Cameron.
- 30:38SPEAKER_00: It wasn't even on my radar.
- 30:41SPEAKER_00: And that was just over two years ago.
- 30:43SPEAKER_00: Okay, then I just want to talk about the panel because it was hosted by my bestie, Sarah Lambert.
- 30:50SPEAKER_00: And I have to laugh because I have always known for many years now that Sarah has strong feelings about panels.
- 30:59SPEAKER_00: She doesn't hide them.
- 31:00SPEAKER_00: She just is very aware of how easily the conversation can get sidetracked and derailed and lose focus and what that can do to the energy in the room.
- 31:10SPEAKER_00: So I love that she got invited to host this panel.
- 31:13SPEAKER_00: And seeing her, seeing the care that she put into it and the intention was so amazing.
- 31:19SPEAKER_00: It's so Sarah, so Virgo.
- 31:23SPEAKER_00: And yeah, she took the time to connect, connect with each of the panelists beforehand.
- 31:28SPEAKER_00: She set clear expectations, put some rules in place, and she just really owned her role in guiding the conversation.
- 31:36SPEAKER_00: And you could totally feel that.
- 31:38SPEAKER_00: You could feel what that preparation created.
- 31:42SPEAKER_00: And I loved what came out of the panel.
- 31:44SPEAKER_00: Tanya might from Trove, who is also a beautiful expander in my life.
- 31:49SPEAKER_00: And if you haven't been to Trove in Toronto, you must go.
- 31:52SPEAKER_00: It's like talk about going into another dimension.
- 31:56SPEAKER_00: She talked about how saying no makes space for the right yes, which might sound simple until you're actually in the position and you're the one deciding what needs to be turned down.
- 32:11SPEAKER_00: And there can be so much fear in that.
- 32:14SPEAKER_00: Because what if another opportunity doesn't come?
- 32:17SPEAKER_00: What if you disappoint someone and let them down and your people-pleasing insecurities all come to the surface?
- 32:23SPEAKER_00: The reality is, as entrepreneurs, especially as parents leading businesses, our capacity is so real.
- 32:30SPEAKER_00: And what we commit to affects what we have room to receive.
- 32:36SPEAKER_00: And she also talked about how much people care about the humans behind the companies that they buy from, which was so powerful.
- 32:46SPEAKER_00: I love that alongside the reminder at the same time to remember that you are also building something that can operate beyond you.
- 32:57SPEAKER_00: So your story can help people really understand why you care, how you make decisions, and ultimately what you're creating and the vision and the mission behind that.
- 33:07SPEAKER_00: And at the same time, you can also be building a team and a business that can hold that work along with you.
- 33:15SPEAKER_00: I thought that was so powerful.
- 33:18SPEAKER_00: And then my girl Priscilla, she shared about storytelling and the emotional connection of our stories, which was so cool because I actually have a personal experience of that with Priscilla.
- 33:29SPEAKER_00: I met her at a previous High Five Women brunch.
- 33:33SPEAKER_00: And she has told me that the story that I shared with her, that brunch, has stayed with her ever since.
- 33:39SPEAKER_00: And hearing that really means so much to me because now when I see her, I feel like we go deep right away.
- 33:46SPEAKER_00: There's already an instant connection there.
- 33:49SPEAKER_00: And it's just such a beautiful reminder that we don't always know where our stories will land for someone or how they'll carry them or remember them.
- 34:01SPEAKER_00: But we still have to be willing to have the courage to open up and share them.
- 34:06SPEAKER_00: Because when we do, again, that's where the magic happens.
- 34:10SPEAKER_00: That's what forms that instant connection.
- 34:12SPEAKER_00: That's what makes you memorable.
- 34:14SPEAKER_00: And then Ali from Organic Traditions shared some really good juicy nuggets.
- 34:18SPEAKER_00: She talked about staying aligned with your values while also being willing to take risks and make big changes, which was so inspiring.
- 34:27SPEAKER_00: One of her points that really stayed with me was about recognizing when you're holding on to something that isn't working because you're emotionally invested.
- 34:38SPEAKER_00: And as entrepreneurs, that can be so hard.
- 34:42SPEAKER_00: We put so much of ourselves into what we create.
- 34:47SPEAKER_00: Our time, our money, yes, but our heart, our energy, our hope, our identity ultimately.
- 34:52SPEAKER_00: And it can just take this real honesty to ask, okay, knowing what I know now, is this actually still something that I want to keep choosing?
- 35:04SPEAKER_00: And I think that's something a lot of entrepreneurs are experiencing right now.
- 35:08SPEAKER_00: This year has been a major year of identity shifting, the year of the fire horse.
- 35:14SPEAKER_00: And we've had to question a lot of outdated ways of doing things or of beliefs that are not aligned with where we're headed next.
- 35:24SPEAKER_00: And yeah, sometimes backing yourself means continuing along that path.
- 35:28SPEAKER_00: And sometimes it means having the courage to change direction.
- 35:32SPEAKER_00: And so I'm really sitting with that message this week.
- 35:36SPEAKER_00: Okay, and I can't talk about high vibe women without talking about the chill space created by my friend Jeanette.
- 35:42SPEAKER_00: It's become one of my absolute favorite parts easily.
- 35:45SPEAKER_00: Some another part that I always look forward to at this event, especially when I'm speaking.
- 35:50SPEAKER_00: Having somewhere that you can go to step away for a moment and just like tune into yourself and your own energy is so valuable.
- 35:58SPEAKER_00: I went in there multiple times throughout the day.
- 36:01SPEAKER_00: I actually laughed because whenever I met people who were at the event for the first time, I told them I was like, remember to check out the chill space because there's this energy when like you're first experiencing this event that you like get the FOMO is so real.
- 36:13SPEAKER_00: Like you don't want to miss anything in the itinerary.
- 36:16SPEAKER_00: And I get that.
- 36:16SPEAKER_00: I think there's power in just like experiencing it all and not missing a beat.
- 36:21SPEAKER_00: And just know when you have that craving of taking time for yourself, this space is there for you.
- 36:27SPEAKER_00: I have always have so many beautiful conversations in this space from the women who are there.
- 36:32SPEAKER_00: So, like, you're still getting that connection.
- 36:34SPEAKER_00: And I also just took time for myself.
- 36:36SPEAKER_00: I meditated before the live podcast.
- 36:39SPEAKER_00: Kathleen and I actually went in there together and said a little prayer together that she had written before we took the stage.
- 36:46SPEAKER_00: And I just loved having that moment.
- 36:47SPEAKER_00: It was so beautiful.
- 36:49SPEAKER_00: Especially because part of our conversation was about creating space to hear your intuition and your inner voice.
- 36:58SPEAKER_00: We talked about the power of that silence, how that is the language of God, of the universe, depending on your beliefs.
- 37:05SPEAKER_00: It's where you get to really tune into your next intuitive step.
- 37:12SPEAKER_00: And if you are so busy going from one task to the next, if you're so stuck in the doing, you don't create that space, your compass can so quickly get lost.
- 37:24SPEAKER_00: And you can head down the wrong track without even realizing it because you're so head down.
- 37:29SPEAKER_00: So it really just felt so good to give ourselves that space in the middle of a very full day.
- 37:37SPEAKER_00: Because yeah, there's a lot happening at these events.
- 37:39SPEAKER_00: You're learning, you're connecting, you're feeling things, shifting literally in real time.
- 37:43SPEAKER_00: You're having ideas land.
- 37:46SPEAKER_00: And sometimes you just need a quiet moment to really notice what's landing for you.
- 37:53SPEAKER_00: And again, to really tune into your own inner voice.
- 37:57SPEAKER_00: And that's what happens at the chill space.
- 37:59SPEAKER_00: So I was really fortunate to be able to stay one more night after the event and attend the speaker brunch the next morning.
- 38:07SPEAKER_00: It was a good excuse for me to stay after.
- 38:08SPEAKER_00: I always love when I can do that if it's possible, because it's really hard to go home from such a full day like this and then to go right back into mom mode.
- 38:16SPEAKER_00: So creating that space for myself is really nice.
- 38:19SPEAKER_00: And I had a little bit of time to start processing before coming home and jumping into a full weekend with the kids.
- 38:27SPEAKER_00: And yeah, then I was back right back into mom mode immediately.
- 38:32SPEAKER_00: I got these sweetest greetings for my kids.
- 38:34SPEAKER_00: I've made it home for pickup from school on Friday.
- 38:37SPEAKER_00: I got the run and jump, squishy hugs.
- 38:39SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh.
- 38:41SPEAKER_00: It it just like brought it all full circle for me and just reminded me of the power of knowing that they know that I'm when I'm away, it's because I am following my own dreams and creating something bigger.
- 38:56SPEAKER_00: Like we talk about it all the time.
- 38:58SPEAKER_00: And I know my husband Luke is talking about it while I was away.
- 39:01SPEAKER_00: They sent me the sweetest voice notes, just like wishing me good luck at my show.
- 39:07SPEAKER_00: They called the podcast my show.
- 39:10SPEAKER_00: My daughter's telling me how she believes in me and she's right there with me.
- 39:13SPEAKER_00: Like, ugh.
- 39:14SPEAKER_00: It was so sweet.
- 39:15SPEAKER_00: We had multiple birthday parties the weekend we came home, Halloween party.
- 39:19SPEAKER_00: And then, of course, there's all the laundry and the groceries and the meal prep.
- 39:23SPEAKER_00: And it can just like be such a shock to the system.
- 39:29SPEAKER_00: But yeah, it it also felt so good.
- 39:32SPEAKER_00: I before being away for this week, I had definitely been deep in the trenches of motherhood and business building, and I absolutely needed a change of scenery.
- 39:43SPEAKER_00: I needed to spend time with these other parts of myself and with other women and just to get out of my own environment and honestly to get out of my own head.
- 39:54SPEAKER_00: And then coming home on the other side, I could instantly feel how much that had given back to me.
- 40:01SPEAKER_00: Even though it was a very full few days, it's not like I was off at the spa.
- 40:06SPEAKER_00: I had more perspective, I had more gratitude, more appreciation.
- 40:10SPEAKER_00: I really felt like I could step back into my favorite self in motherhood again.
- 40:16SPEAKER_00: And so I really want to remember that when I'm preparing to take this time away from my kids.
- 40:21SPEAKER_00: And when, you know, building and growing the business takes me away from my family in those moments.
- 40:28SPEAKER_00: It can be easy to look at that time that you're spending pursuing your work or your dreams and see it that way, see it as time away from your family.
- 40:38SPEAKER_00: But for me, this experience actually reminded me how much it can also bring me back to them.
- 40:46SPEAKER_00: And that's been another big aha moment and actually has led to revealing a block that I've had, a money block that I've had, around thinking that more growth and scaling the business will require more of me and therefore give my kids less of me when I realize that that's not true.
- 41:07SPEAKER_00: And I have so much proof of that from events like this.
- 41:12SPEAKER_00: And so now I'm thinking about integration.
- 41:15SPEAKER_00: What am I actually going to do with everything that I have felt and learned and everything that's shifted and the conversations that I've had and everything that's ignited within me?
- 41:25SPEAKER_00: So I've created space in my week this week to follow up with the people that I made notes about, to revisit the messages that really stayed with me and look through my notes again to record this podcast and integrate literally live in the moment with you.
- 41:39SPEAKER_00: I mean, live while I'm recording this, but still you're gonna listen to it in a couple days from now.
- 41:44SPEAKER_00: And ultimately to choose what I am going to implement.
- 41:51SPEAKER_00: And yeah, recording this episode is has been so fun because it like lets me hear my own thoughts.
- 41:58SPEAKER_00: It lets me notice the connection and the themes that keep coming up for me, and it really gives the experience somewhere to land.
- 42:05SPEAKER_00: And hopefully at the same time, it does the same for you, replaying it back and getting to hear this recap.
- 42:12SPEAKER_00: And you probably have heard that my voice is now at its limit.
- 42:15SPEAKER_00: I'm my friend Sarah joked that I've got the ascension flu because I definitely feel like I'm going through a quantum leap.
- 42:22SPEAKER_00: And of course, I'm catching something and feeling the physical ailments that come with that.
- 42:28SPEAKER_00: So thank you for bearing with me my voice.
- 42:30SPEAKER_00: I've got my tea here that I've been drinking.
- 42:33SPEAKER_00: But yeah, I'm for the next little while, I'm gonna be taking some downtime and really reflecting and thinking of like, okay, what's really sticking with me?
- 42:41SPEAKER_00: What do I want to explore for further?
- 42:44SPEAKER_00: And then I hope you do the same.
- 42:46SPEAKER_00: Is there someone that you want to follow up with, multiple people ideally?
- 42:50SPEAKER_00: Is there a decision that you now feel like you're ready to make that just like that voice is so loud?
- 42:57SPEAKER_00: Is there something new that you want to practice?
- 43:00SPEAKER_00: A new belief that you're writing for yourself, a new train track that you're laying out?
- 43:06SPEAKER_00: Again, I keep coming back to that photo from the first event in January 2024.
- 43:15SPEAKER_00: And there's just no way that I could have mapped out all of this from where I was standing then.
- 43:22SPEAKER_00: The book, the podcast, the business growth, and new offers of the brand mirror that we launched that I got to share in the swag bags at the latest event, along with a coupon to gift you a discount for being in this room.
- 43:38SPEAKER_00: And then let alone the friendships, the conversations, the connections, the moments on stage.
- 43:47SPEAKER_00: I it all happened because I followed what I felt drawn to.
- 43:54SPEAKER_00: I kept showing up again and again, and so did the women around me.
- 43:59SPEAKER_00: And I'm so grateful to Christina and Maria for creating this community and to everyone who continues to bring their stories and their gifts and their presence into this room.
- 44:11SPEAKER_00: And I'm just so grateful that I get to keep growing right alongside you.
- 44:15SPEAKER_00: So thank you.
- 44:16SPEAKER_00: Thank you for being here.
- 44:18SPEAKER_00: Thank you for letting me process this right along with you.
- 44:23SPEAKER_00: I hope it gives you a moment to pause and reflect on your own growth too, to look at your own receipts, and to really notice what's calling you next.
- 44:35SPEAKER_00: I'll talk to you next week.
- 44:37SPEAKER_00: Thank you for listening to the Favorite Self podcast.
- 44:40SPEAKER_00: If this episode stirred something in you, there's a reason for it.
- 44:44SPEAKER_00: You could take a moment to share with a friend, someone who's also building something brave, that would mean so much to me.
- 44:50SPEAKER_00: Better yet, leave a review.
- 44:51SPEAKER_00: It helps this message reach even more women who are ready to lead differently.
- 44:56SPEAKER_00: And before you go, remember this your favorite self is already within you, waiting to be heard.
- 45:02SPEAKER_00: See you next time.
