- 0:31Speaker 3: Eddie is in here today for some reasons because I
- 0:33Speaker 3: work here. No, I mean while we're doing this hang out,
- 0:37Speaker 3: thanks man, Yeah, I mean this is where I am
- 0:39Speaker 3: all the time.
- 0:40Speaker 1: I hear it. Okay, we're moving on.
- 0:44Speaker 3: I Twenty five Whistles with Bobby Bones presented by DraftKings
- 0:47Speaker 3: sports book and official sports betting partner of college football.
- 0:50Speaker 3: Download the DraftKings app used to code Bobby Sports to
- 0:52Speaker 3: get in on the action. We have senior football rider
- 0:54Speaker 3: and analysts for the ringer, Kevin Clark. He's been covering
- 0:57Speaker 3: the NFL since he was in college University of Miami.
- 1:00Speaker 3: We talk about the Jets, are they contenders, Joe Burrow's health,
- 1:03Speaker 3: Caleb Williams and the hype, and is Miami back?
- 1:07Speaker 1: Will they ever be back?
- 1:08Speaker 3: And then later on South Carolina running back to carry
- 1:10Speaker 3: on Joiner, who we got to spend some time with.
- 1:12Speaker 3: He's played every position basically at South Carolina. He started
- 1:15Speaker 3: to get offers when he was like thirteen years old.
- 1:18Speaker 1: That's unbelievable.
- 1:19Speaker 3: At one point I made him really uncomfortable. Very I
- 1:23Speaker 3: think we both did. Oh you yeah, two different points.
- 1:26Speaker 4: Yeah, oh you did, yeah, because I asked him the
- 1:28Speaker 4: personal question about what his cup.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Oh yeah, we both did.
- 1:31Speaker 3: Weaner questions, but he brought it up. It was about
- 1:34Speaker 3: a pile or like what happens at the bottom of
- 1:35Speaker 3: a pile?
- 1:36Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, Like I asked him why he wears a
- 1:38Speaker 4: if you were returned to mine, Yes, and then you
- 1:40Speaker 4: said you would squeeze and twists.
- 1:42Speaker 3: I said, if I was at the bottom of a
- 1:43Speaker 3: pile and everybody's you can hear it?
- 1:45Speaker 5: Yes, very dong heavy Yeah.
- 1:49Speaker 1: Also my natename of college.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:52Speaker 1: But to carry on Joiner on later on. So pretty cool.
- 1:55Speaker 3: But let's get going now with the tittle tattle and
- 2:04Speaker 3: let's welcome kick off Kevin back for another season.
- 2:06Speaker 1: Welcome Kevin glad to be back.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Boys.
- 2:08Speaker 1: All right, let's go all right.
- 2:09Speaker 5: Lionel MESSI was with MESSI was here playing in Nashville
- 2:13Speaker 5: last weekend and even.
- 2:14Speaker 3: Say that right, Lionel I l now, I know. I mean,
- 2:17Speaker 3: I would say I'm not right, but I'd say Lionel.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Messi.
- 2:22Speaker 3: They say Lionel, Lionel. He said Lionel. Yeah, I didn't
- 2:26Speaker 3: know if how wrong I was saying it, go ahead.
- 2:28Speaker 5: I'd to throw a little twenty.
- 2:28Speaker 1: He just say MESSI.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I know.
- 2:30Speaker 5: That's why I was like, you know what, I'll just
- 2:31Speaker 5: say Messi. He was here playing last weekend and the
- 2:33Speaker 5: tickets got up to like thousands of dollars. So I
- 2:35Speaker 5: was wondering, if there's one athlete you would pay way
- 2:38Speaker 5: too much money to watch, who would it be?
- 2:39Speaker 2: Dead or alive?
- 2:41Speaker 3: I think now where I am, I would like to
- 2:44Speaker 3: go see Jordan again in his prime. That'd be cool,
- 2:46Speaker 3: which is cool because now we know how great Jordan
- 2:48Speaker 3: is was what people think of him now still considered
- 2:53Speaker 3: the greatest of all time for the most part, probably
- 2:56Speaker 3: sixty forty Jordan. So Jordan or Babe Ruth, because Babe
- 3:00Speaker 3: Ruth is like the quintessential larger than live sports figure,
- 3:04Speaker 3: the first one. I would think. Babe Ruth was the
- 3:07Speaker 3: first real sports superstar that people not in sports New
- 3:11Speaker 3: Now New Rockney. I don't know the whole timeline of
- 3:13Speaker 3: some of those guys.
- 3:16Speaker 1: I don't know New Rockney.
- 3:18Speaker 3: But it's like I still would go Babe Ruth and
- 3:21Speaker 3: Michael Jordan.
- 3:21Speaker 1: What about you.
- 3:22Speaker 4: I would definitely go Mike Tyson, like young Mike Tyson
- 3:26Speaker 4: when he was knocking people out quickly.
- 3:28Speaker 3: You'd be so mad, though, you spend all that money,
- 3:29Speaker 3: then you watch a fight for thirty two Yeah, in
- 3:31Speaker 3: a time machine for thirty two seconds.
- 3:32Speaker 4: Dude, I'm mad now when I pay for a UFC
- 3:34Speaker 4: fight and it's over in ten seconds.
- 3:37Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:37Speaker 4: But I think those days were cool because all the
- 3:39Speaker 4: celebs were there, you know, like that was my coolest
- 3:42Speaker 4: the favorite thing about watching those boxing matches, Like Bruce
- 3:44Speaker 4: Willis was always there, and a bunch of celebrities always
- 3:47Speaker 4: in the in the crowd. I'm like, that'd be a
- 3:48Speaker 4: special night to be out there. That's what it's like
- 3:50Speaker 4: now too. Yeah, but I feel like they were bigger
- 3:53Speaker 4: stars then. I think the stars generally were bigger.
- 3:57Speaker 1: Yeah. Now it's like I don't know who that dude is.
- 3:59Speaker 3: There are so many any people that are famous now
- 4:01Speaker 3: that famous water down generally. Yeah, you got to remember
- 4:04Speaker 3: people call me famous. That's true. So the fame is
- 4:07Speaker 3: extremely watered down these days. But yeah, it was hard
- 4:12Speaker 3: to be famous back then. But when you were, you
- 4:13Speaker 3: really were because there were only a few outlets to
- 4:15Speaker 3: be famous through. Now you can talk to somebody who's
- 4:18Speaker 3: like an expert in broccoli. He's got seventy three thousand followers.
- 4:22Speaker 3: That's the broccoli Queen, and I've never heard of her,
- 4:24Speaker 3: but she's famous to some people. Yeah, Mike Tyxon would
- 4:26Speaker 3: have been awesome. He was a beast watching some of
- 4:28Speaker 3: those when he's like eighteen nineteen years old.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Oh dude, just murdering people. Who would you take.
- 4:34Speaker 5: My first thing that comes in the head is Tom Brady,
- 4:36Speaker 5: but I've seen him before. I would probably go like
- 4:38Speaker 5: Steph Curry. I've never seen Steph Curry like Prime stuph
- 4:41Speaker 5: four to five years ago, draining threes from half court.
- 4:44Speaker 5: I think would be awesome to see.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Yeah, that'd be cool, all right.
- 4:46Speaker 5: Next next is Philly. James Harden is going at it
- 4:49Speaker 5: with the Sixers right now. There's a lot of drama
- 4:50Speaker 5: going on. What's your favorite past drama between a player
- 4:53Speaker 5: and the team.
- 4:54Speaker 3: Probably too, and the Eagles doing sit ups out in
- 4:58Speaker 3: front of the house in the yard while the media
- 5:02Speaker 3: is there. That's funny. The fact that he would do that,
- 5:05Speaker 3: that's funny. Did you ever hear too when he said
- 5:08Speaker 3: he didn't mean to go to Chattanooga. No, if he
- 5:11Speaker 3: went to college college, he thought he was going to
- 5:13Speaker 3: ut Oh where did we just? We just heard about this.
- 5:16Speaker 3: I saw it on TikTok.
- 5:17Speaker 1: Yeah I did too.
- 5:18Speaker 4: Maybe he sent it to me. I don't know, but
- 5:20Speaker 4: that was interesting. He thought it was He thought it
- 5:22Speaker 4: was Tennessee Knoxville. Yeah, really, you run a Chattanooga Chattanooga.
- 5:28Speaker 4: He was like, I would have never went there, which
- 5:30Speaker 4: is a cool town.
- 5:30Speaker 1: Though.
- 5:31Speaker 3: Chattanooga is a cool town. Yeah cool, Yeah, but not
- 5:32Speaker 3: if you're gonna go play football. Yeah that's very different.
- 5:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:35Speaker 1: So I go too in the Eagles.
- 5:37Speaker 3: But Harden just has drama following him wherever he goes.
- 5:41Speaker 3: Harden's had drama with the Rockets. Harden had drama with
- 5:44Speaker 3: the Nets. I guess the only team he really did
- 5:46Speaker 3: have drama with was Oklahoma City when he was six man,
- 5:48Speaker 3: because he was six Man of the Year before he left.
- 5:50Speaker 1: But Harden's just dramatic.
- 5:51Speaker 3: Yes, I get it, he can play ball, but do
- 5:54Speaker 3: you really want that headache on your team and pay
- 5:57Speaker 3: him all that money to be a headache. So and
- 6:00Speaker 3: if it were just one time, you would go maybe
- 6:02Speaker 3: we don't know what's going on, but pretty much every
- 6:05Speaker 3: team he's been with the same situation. The comment denominator
- 6:07Speaker 3: is James Harden.
- 6:08Speaker 5: Did you see him post on his story of the
- 6:10Speaker 5: fat man suit.
- 6:11Speaker 3: No, he posted it on his own story, so you
- 6:14Speaker 3: know what he's saying that, Yes, he's gonna get he's
- 6:15Speaker 3: gonna get.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Fat, he's gonna show he's gonna do it on purpose.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Does he do that on purpose?
- 6:18Speaker 3: Yes?
- 6:19Speaker 1: And it's amazing he can. He can like lose it,
- 6:21Speaker 1: lose it all in like two games. He should be
- 6:22Speaker 1: an actor. Yeah, he's acting like a real dude.
- 6:26Speaker 3: So I think he kind of is Eddie anything come
- 6:30Speaker 3: to mind, drama, but a player and a team.
- 6:32Speaker 4: One that was cool that to find the backstory on
- 6:35Speaker 4: was Scottie Pippen, him holding out where he was like
- 6:37Speaker 4: I could play, but I didn't.
- 6:39Speaker 3: And you know, when I saw deeper into it, I
- 6:43Speaker 3: felt bad for Scotty Vimmer me too, who didn't feel
- 6:46Speaker 3: bad for him. Well, when it was happening, it was
- 6:47Speaker 3: just Scottie Pippen's a loser exactly, but when you actually
- 6:51Speaker 3: learned like he was getting paid nothing.
- 6:52Speaker 1: He was such a big part of that team.
- 6:54Speaker 3: But I remember being a kid and being angry at
- 6:55Speaker 3: the ball players when they would strike because I wanted
- 6:58Speaker 3: to watch the games. I'd be like, they're so greedy,
- 7:01Speaker 3: they're making millions of dollars. I hate them. I hey
- 7:04Speaker 3: come back, But really the players had to, or the
- 7:07Speaker 3: owners would have made more and more and more money,
- 7:10Speaker 3: not even paying their people. Like you, Sometimes you just
- 7:12Speaker 3: got to do difficult things. I just went through an
- 7:14Speaker 3: extremely difficult contract negotiation, really hard for eight months. Probably
- 7:19Speaker 3: that was at times contentious even and I think we're
- 7:23Speaker 3: probably getting on track to being good again. But if
- 7:27Speaker 3: people didn't know what was going on, Like let's say
- 7:30Speaker 3: this show, the Bobby Bone Show, twenty five whistles whatever,
- 7:33Speaker 3: Let's say that makes five dollars a year, and I'm
- 7:36Speaker 3: asking for like a dollar fifty first salary.
- 7:38Speaker 1: You're like, well, that makes sense.
- 7:39Speaker 3: If you're able to make five dollars and there are
- 7:42Speaker 3: all the other expenses, you should get paid a dollar fifty.
- 7:44Speaker 3: But if you're like, man, dollar fifty, that's why is
- 7:49Speaker 3: he even complaining? He was making a dollar. It's one
- 7:52Speaker 3: of those it's just in relation. And the ball players
- 7:54Speaker 3: weren't getting paid. Yeah, we don't know this skit.
- 7:56Speaker 1: Shit, Well we did. We found out, now we do.
- 7:59Speaker 3: That's like my son now, he's fifteen, and he was
- 8:01Speaker 3: complaining about the movie the Hollywood strike.
- 8:03Speaker 1: It's just like, how are we gonna watch movies all year?
- 8:05Speaker 4: Like it's so dumb, Like they're not thinking about us
- 8:07Speaker 4: who want to watch the movies. You're not thinking about
- 8:08Speaker 4: them who needs to get paid and you're.
- 8:11Speaker 3: Not thinking about them who's will be able to make
- 8:14Speaker 3: more movies right and actually be able to have a
- 8:16Speaker 3: life and insurance?
- 8:18Speaker 1: And yeah, yeah, same way. I was, same way baseball players.
- 8:22Speaker 2: All right, what next?
- 8:23Speaker 1: Did you see?
- 8:23Speaker 5: Bryce Young?
- 8:24Speaker 2: Over the weekend?
- 8:24Speaker 5: He got trolled by a staffer for the media. He
- 8:26Speaker 5: was going up to the podium to set the mic
- 8:28Speaker 5: stand and how high it should be and he's like,
- 8:30Speaker 5: I'm five to nine, how high should it be? So
- 8:31Speaker 5: I was wondering, well, what's the most memorable trolling moment
- 8:34Speaker 5: or comment you've ever gotten?
- 8:36Speaker 1: I don't know that it was trolling, but going into
- 8:38Speaker 1: the Radio Hall of Fame, they introduced me at the
- 8:41Speaker 1: very beginning as Bobby.
- 8:42Speaker 3: Jones into the Hall of Fame. Hall of Fame, right,
- 8:44Speaker 3: it's me and four eighty year olds. It's a big deal,
- 8:46Speaker 3: and the people have flown in all over the country
- 8:48Speaker 3: and the youngest person ever be inducted into the Hall
- 8:50Speaker 3: of Fame. And they're like, tonight you know, Harvey manam
- 8:54Speaker 3: n na Bobby Jones.
- 8:55Speaker 5: I'm like, oh my god, Now did he just misread it?
- 8:59Speaker 3: Yes, that was just when you say I get trolled
- 9:05Speaker 3: all the time, but I mean for me, that probably
- 9:07Speaker 3: was just the one where I was like, I don't
- 9:09Speaker 3: know if they did it on purpose or not, but
- 9:10Speaker 3: that one hurt the most. I can't prove he wasn't
- 9:13Speaker 3: trolling me, you get, but I can't prove. And Bryce Young,
- 9:17Speaker 3: I've watched you know, they do these complete packages where
- 9:23Speaker 3: you can watch every snap, every drop back. I don't
- 9:26Speaker 3: watch the handoffs, I'll watch every dropback. And Bryce Young
- 9:29Speaker 3: has just been getting rocked because his offensive line sucks.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Hold back to it? What do you mean to package?
- 9:33Speaker 3: So they'll they'll they'll put a package of clips up
- 9:37Speaker 3: and it's like, this is every drop back from Bryce
- 9:39Speaker 3: Young for this entire game. That's what you're just watching
- 9:42Speaker 3: nineteen dropbacks.
- 9:43Speaker 1: Wow, I didn't know they had that. That's cool. So
- 9:44Speaker 1: it's it's altogether.
- 9:45Speaker 3: I see on Twitter all the time, and so I've
- 9:48Speaker 3: watched Bryce youngs twice and poor guy.
- 9:51Speaker 1: M hmm.
- 9:52Speaker 4: Now is he falling just because it's preseason? And it's
- 9:56Speaker 4: probably falling because he's small and is gonna get wrecked?
- 9:59Speaker 4: I thought that too, But then I'm thinking, like it's preseason,
- 10:01Speaker 4: you feel like you're gonna get sacked?
- 10:03Speaker 1: Just fall? I mean, what is it? What I would
- 10:04Speaker 1: do that anyway?
- 10:04Speaker 3: I think you should do that anyway if you're about
- 10:06Speaker 3: to get sacked and you're not really Ben Roethlisberger like
- 10:09Speaker 3: Peyton Manning did that later in his career because he
- 10:11Speaker 3: just didn't want to get hit anymore. Yeah, and Bryce
- 10:13Speaker 3: young small. My point with is he has no time
- 10:16Speaker 3: to do anything, but he has such poise even as
- 10:19Speaker 3: he's getting wrecked. I have not seen a rookie quarterback
- 10:23Speaker 3: with such poise. Speaking of poise, though, I did see
- 10:26Speaker 3: stetson Ben at the third, the third, fourth, we don't know,
- 10:30Speaker 3: one and two?
- 10:30Speaker 1: Fifth?
- 10:31Speaker 5: Is he what is.
- 10:34Speaker 1: The numeral? I don't care.
- 10:36Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 10:36Speaker 3: Whenever he is, you don't have to respect that. I
- 10:38Speaker 3: don't call anybody by their numeral.
- 10:39Speaker 5: Did the announcers say it when you're watching the game?
- 10:41Speaker 1: Stets and Ben at the fourth?
- 10:43Speaker 2: Probably not?
- 10:45Speaker 3: The fourth is three for nine. I figure he's got
- 10:48Speaker 3: the Roman numeral. We need to respect.
- 10:50Speaker 1: I had trouble calling Chado jos Cinco O Josinco and
- 10:52Speaker 1: it was even his name name me too.
- 10:54Speaker 5: Well, how about Robert Chosen? Now Anderson Robbie Anderson, He's
- 10:58Speaker 5: Robbie Chose? Was watching Neil like Robbie Chosen?
- 11:02Speaker 3: I by that like the chosen one. Probably interesting Metaworld piece.
- 11:06Speaker 3: Also to he's always up run our test. But Bry,
- 11:11Speaker 3: I think Bryce is going to be really good if
- 11:14Speaker 3: he gets any any sort of help. That team is
- 11:18Speaker 3: just they're going to struggle this year. We were with them.
- 11:20Speaker 3: The episodes up now of are too much access. With
- 11:23Speaker 3: the Carolina Panthers, Bryce still felt like I was talking to.
- 11:26Speaker 1: A veteran in the league. Funny, intelligent, go.
- 11:30Speaker 3: Ahead on his shoulders, just just a dude. Coach Wright
- 11:34Speaker 3: loved him, obviously. I think they know they're in a
- 11:37Speaker 3: building season s over in Carolina. But if I were
- 11:41Speaker 3: a Carolina Panthers fan. I would love from what I'm
- 11:43Speaker 3: seeing from Bryce right now, because again, just watch them,
- 11:47Speaker 3: he's just so poised and he's been getting wrecked. I
- 11:49Speaker 3: get hit once out of here, You're on the ground immediately, Yeah, immediately?
- 11:53Speaker 1: All right?
- 11:54Speaker 2: What else?
- 11:54Speaker 5: Last one here? Trevor Lawrence recently said that he was
- 11:57Speaker 5: on an all time great team in twenty eighteen when
- 11:59Speaker 5: they won the College Football Championship. So in your mind,
- 12:02Speaker 5: who is the best college team you've ever seen?
- 12:05Speaker 1: Two things come to mind.
- 12:06Speaker 3: One is probably a little bit of recency bias, but
- 12:09Speaker 3: LSU and four years ago with Joe Burrow, because it
- 12:12Speaker 3: was Joe Burrow, Jamar Chase and Justin Jefferson at the
- 12:15Speaker 3: same time.
- 12:15Speaker 1: I mean thinking about you have both those receivers.
- 12:17Speaker 3: If your fantasy team has both those receivers, you're like
- 12:19Speaker 3: the greatest Fantasy league team of all time. But you
- 12:23Speaker 3: have both on a college team like that, It's pretty amazing.
- 12:26Speaker 3: I also think of USC back in two thousand and
- 12:29Speaker 3: four before Texas beat him the year before they get you.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Yeah, who Leonard? Who Leonard? Who?
- 12:35Speaker 4: Matt Leonard? Am I saying it wrong? Matt Leonard? Lioner Lionard.
- 12:42Speaker 4: There's a t in there. You're saying D.
- 12:44Speaker 2: You're saying a D.
- 12:45Speaker 3: Matt Lionert, you're saying Matt Leonard. Yeah, that's how I've
- 12:49Speaker 3: always pronounced.
- 12:49Speaker 1: Is that a right?
- 12:50Speaker 3: No, Matt Lionart. Okay, Reggie Bush. There you go, Reggie Bush,
- 12:55Speaker 3: keep going.
- 12:56Speaker 1: Who else on that team? I don't know who's the
- 12:58Speaker 1: other running back?
- 12:58Speaker 3: Thunder and Lightning Freggie Bush and played for the Titans.
- 13:02Speaker 1: To USC played for the Titans, big.
- 13:06Speaker 3: Boy, remember thunder and Lightning. Bush was fast, he was strong.
- 13:09Speaker 3: He came here at Lindall White. No, oh really, I
- 13:12Speaker 3: don't remember played here and then. But that Texas team
- 13:13Speaker 3: is really good to with Vince Young, Jamal Charles Nasty.
- 13:16Speaker 1: But I probably go l.
- 13:18Speaker 3: S U that USC team and that Texas team, anybody
- 13:21Speaker 3: that was before my time. But the Miami team, so
- 13:24Speaker 3: they had all the first round picks. That was with
- 13:26Speaker 3: Jimmy Johnson, Ed Reed, No, no, no, no, I can't
- 13:33Speaker 3: remember his name.
- 13:34Speaker 1: I'll come back to it.
- 13:35Speaker 3: Yes, ed Reid, Andre Johnson, Clinton, Portis, Sean Taylor. There
- 13:38Speaker 3: were just so many. It was like boats and then
- 13:40Speaker 3: like Willis mcgaye shows up and is right third string.
- 13:43Speaker 3: It was Yeah, it's crazy. The coach who went to
- 13:47Speaker 3: North Carolina for a while. He had like a bowl cut.
- 13:50Speaker 3: It doesn't matter if you wouldn't have said, we'll just
- 13:53Speaker 3: cut this.
- 13:54Speaker 5: Larry Koker thinking.
- 13:59Speaker 3: I was thinking, Davis, you look, it's a lot of football,
- 14:02Speaker 3: you know what, We're gonna leave it in there. I
- 14:03Speaker 3: didn't even look Bunch Davis up. I was thinking of
- 14:05Speaker 3: Bunch Davis though, and we're not kind it out. It's
- 14:08Speaker 3: a lot of football to remember. It's a lot of
- 14:09Speaker 3: football to remember. That's right, Okay. A reminder of the
- 14:12Speaker 3: twenty five Whistles was presented by Draft Kings sports book

- 14:27Speaker 3: that what it is? So on Friday we'll we'll do
- 14:30Speaker 3: the twenty five whistles parlay. And here's the thing I
- 14:33Speaker 3: want to say. I'm thinking about just keeping track of
- 14:35Speaker 3: every single bet I do, period and let and just
- 14:39Speaker 3: seeing a running total on it.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Okay, the risk yet, the risk is I just look
- 14:46Speaker 1: like an idiot.
- 14:47Speaker 3: But nobody thinks I'm not an idiot, right, You're just
- 14:49Speaker 3: a normal dude making it. Yes, right, And I guess
- 14:52Speaker 3: I went on a streak last year on these parlays,
- 14:55Speaker 3: like twelve in rows and.
- 14:58Speaker 1: Yes.
- 14:58Speaker 3: So I'm thinking about been track of every college bet,
- 15:02Speaker 3: maybe like just college football bets, only.
- 15:05Speaker 4: Even your live bets that you do when you're anything
- 15:08Speaker 4: I do, wow, because you get pretty desperate in those
- 15:12Speaker 4: when you're chasing later in the.
- 15:13Speaker 1: Night, you're like a chase I try to gain. It's
- 15:17Speaker 1: Colorado and Utah. I gotta make mom.
- 15:19Speaker 3: How many West Coast games are on? Uh, Navy A,
- 15:23Speaker 3: Notre Dame play this week? You know there aren't really
- 15:25Speaker 3: big games that are national games, but it's the first
- 15:30Speaker 3: week of games exciting. Uh San Jose State at USC,
- 15:32Speaker 3: Come on, Hawaii, Vanderbilt, let's go start playing quickly.
- 15:37Speaker 1: Dude, you can give me the Hilltoppers. And I'm watching that.
- 15:39Speaker 3: He's made fun of me. He projected, that was projecting everybody.
- 15:42Speaker 3: I mean, be like, when you chase it, you're trying
- 15:44Speaker 3: to get a game. That's you talking about the first
- 15:48Speaker 3: week of football where you're like, I don't care who's playing.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Who is that too?
- 15:50Speaker 3: Lane?
- 15:51Speaker 1: Let's go.

- 16:16Speaker 3: this interview is awesome. Kevin Clark's awesome. I don't know
- 16:19Speaker 3: what else is says that this is an awesome deal.
- 16:21Speaker 3: Three awesome. That's how you know this is a fun interview,
- 16:23Speaker 3: and so let's go to Kevin Clark. Kevin worked for
- 16:25Speaker 3: The Wall Street Journal before going to The Ringer in
- 16:27Speaker 3: twenty sixteen. He has a show called Slow News Day
- 16:29Speaker 3: that I want you to check out where he interviews
- 16:31Speaker 3: some of the biggest names in football, including Josh Allen,
- 16:33Speaker 3: Caleb Williams, and Moore.
- 16:35Speaker 1: Great video show.
- 16:36Speaker 3: Follow Kevin on Twitter and Instagram at by Kevin Clark.
- 16:40Speaker 1: This is a good one. I enjoyed it. Here he
- 16:41Speaker 1: is Kevin Clark Kevin, what's up man?
- 16:44Speaker 6: What's going on? Bobby?
- 16:45Speaker 3: Hey, the picture of your face on the little headshot
- 16:47Speaker 3: here is deceiving. I was ready for you to come
- 16:49Speaker 3: on and I don't know, you look angry or smart
- 16:51Speaker 3: or something.
- 16:51Speaker 6: Oh my gosh, that's the that's our twenty sixteen headshot.
- 16:55Speaker 6: I wish it was eradicated from the Internet. I want
- 16:59Speaker 6: to pay one of those companies that like specializes in
- 17:01Speaker 6: getting bad news off of Google. But just for that headshot.
- 17:04Speaker 3: We have a company that we pay my wife and
- 17:06Speaker 3: I that takes like all of our personal information. So
- 17:10Speaker 3: it's the like monthly they go all this stuff has
- 17:12Speaker 3: been written about you. Here's where they say you live,
- 17:14Speaker 3: and they're never right. But they can wipe pretty much
- 17:16Speaker 3: anything off for the right price. And I think no
- 17:19Speaker 3: money is too much to take that picture down.
- 17:23Speaker 6: Good to talk to you today, freelance.
- 17:26Speaker 1: Yeah, good to talk to you.
- 17:27Speaker 3: We have very close, you know, similar friends, and you know,
- 17:32Speaker 3: it's really good to kind of talk to you in
- 17:33Speaker 3: person here. So let's start with the Jets and are
- 17:38Speaker 3: they going to be any good?
- 17:39Speaker 1: Yes or no?
- 17:40Speaker 6: It'll be better than they were last year. I think
- 17:43Speaker 6: that generally they had to go get a quarterback. I
- 17:45Speaker 6: saw stat a couple of days ago that blew my mind,
- 17:48Speaker 6: which is that since Pro Football Focus started charting at
- 17:51Speaker 6: Mark Sanchez in twenty ten was the best quarterback the
- 17:54Speaker 6: Jets have had. Okay, take that. That's that's one thing.
- 17:57Speaker 6: The second thing is that year that Mark Sanchez was
- 17:59Speaker 6: the best quarterback on record for the Jets, he was
- 18:02Speaker 6: the eighteenth best quarterback in the NFL. That's it. So
- 18:06Speaker 6: that's all you need to know about the last twenty
- 18:07Speaker 6: years of Jets fandom is that they've rooted for people
- 18:10Speaker 6: who were the eighteenth or worse at the quarterback condition
- 18:13Speaker 6: every single year. So they had to go out and
- 18:15Speaker 6: get a swing. They had to go get Aaron Rodgers.
- 18:17Speaker 6: He was the best quarterback available. They couldn't have gone
- 18:20Speaker 6: with Zach Wilson or just tried to sound like a
- 18:22Speaker 6: Jameis Winston type of stop gap. So they'll be better
- 18:24Speaker 6: than they were. I see, like ten wins, eleven wins.
- 18:26Speaker 6: This is not a super team by any means.
- 18:29Speaker 3: I guess I'm gonna go back to a comic. Pennington
- 18:32Speaker 3: was never better than Mark Sanchez.
- 18:35Speaker 6: That was before kind of the last twenty years when
- 18:38Speaker 6: he came in.
- 18:39Speaker 1: On that old on that old god dang older of
- 18:42Speaker 1: that sucks. Dude. I just talked into how old I am? Okay, okay, The.
- 18:48Speaker 6: Ff eras like two thousand and five and beyond which
- 18:50Speaker 6: Pennington was still on the team. It was just I
- 18:52Speaker 6: think he cycled out and he was on the Dolphins
- 18:54Speaker 6: by eight, I want to say with Parcels.
- 18:57Speaker 3: So with Aaron Rodgers coming in and you know, they
- 18:59Speaker 3: took some of that money that he gave back, which
- 19:02Speaker 3: wasn't charity, he needed more playmakers around him, and they
- 19:05Speaker 3: just signed a running back, a really good one. He's
- 19:08Speaker 3: probably still in the backside of his prime even but again,
- 19:12Speaker 3: their offensive line really doesn't seem to be what Aaron
- 19:15Speaker 3: Rodgers is used to.
- 19:16Speaker 1: Is that going to be what holds the offense back
- 19:18Speaker 1: more than anything?
- 19:20Speaker 6: Well, yes, and whether or not. I mean Aaron Rodgers
- 19:22Speaker 6: is old like you and I are old. Like when
- 19:26Speaker 6: we screw up our calf, it takes five days to recover.
- 19:29Speaker 6: And I don't think that's a just because you a
- 19:31Speaker 6: professional athlete and you train a little bit better. You know,
- 19:34Speaker 6: age is undefeated by the time is undefeated. As Charles
- 19:36Speaker 6: Barkley said, they only two things that undefeated their father
- 19:38Speaker 6: time in the blackjack table, and I think that you
- 19:41Speaker 6: get into a situation where everything hurts a little bit,
- 19:45Speaker 6: more hits, and if we're talking about the offensive line,
- 19:49Speaker 6: if he gets driven into the ground, that could be
- 19:51Speaker 6: more serious. But yeah, if you're looking for a positional unit,
- 19:54Speaker 6: it is the offensive line. But then you just wonder
- 19:56Speaker 6: what the expiration date on a veteran quarterback is. I
- 19:59Speaker 6: think a couple of good years left in him. He
- 20:01Speaker 6: wants to play multiple years, Bobby. I mean, the thing
- 20:04Speaker 6: that is probably most interesting to me is we've gotten
- 20:06Speaker 6: so spoiled with this idea the quarterbacks can play until
- 20:09Speaker 6: they're forty one, forty two, forty three, because we saw
- 20:12Speaker 6: Tom Brady do it. Drew Brees had an unbelievable longevity career.
- 20:16Speaker 6: But at some point, some of these guys are going
- 20:17Speaker 6: to age out before age forty three. And you wonder
- 20:20Speaker 6: if that's if that's gonna be Rogers, You wonder if
- 20:23Speaker 6: it's it's some of these other guys who are getting
- 20:25Speaker 6: up there in the years, Like, these guys have taken
- 20:27Speaker 6: a lot of hits relative to what basically the old
- 20:31Speaker 6: old style football was. Drew Brees didn't get hit a
- 20:34Speaker 6: ton because of the way he passes. Aaron Rodgers gets
- 20:36Speaker 6: hit a ton because of the way he runs in
- 20:38Speaker 6: the backfield and extends plays and stuff like that. He's
- 20:40Speaker 6: broken his collar bone before, so I'm intrigued to see
- 20:43Speaker 6: how Rogers ages. He was not particularly great last year,
- 20:47Speaker 6: and I think that some of that was I think
- 20:49Speaker 6: it's drop the wide receivers. The drop number went from
- 20:53Speaker 6: thirteen to forty last year. He didn't have Devanta Adams'
- 20:56Speaker 6: safety valve. So there's a lot of kind of building
- 20:59Speaker 6: excuses that Rogers last year, But I didn't see that
- 21:01Speaker 6: kind of MVP form, So I think it's a combination
- 21:04Speaker 6: of offensive line. Whether or not Rogers ages well in
- 21:08Speaker 6: the next year and a half, I think those are
- 21:10Speaker 6: the things to watch as far as what could hold
- 21:12Speaker 6: the Jets back, because otherwise, you know, like the defense
- 21:14Speaker 6: with the Jets, like it reminds me a little bit
- 21:16Speaker 6: of Brady with the Bucks, where it's a fast front seven,
- 21:19Speaker 6: it's young guys everywhere, one of the best cornerbacks in football,
- 21:22Speaker 6: and Salus Gardner. No real questions there except to say
- 21:25Speaker 6: that the AFC is stacked and a bunch of teams
- 21:28Speaker 6: have talented rosters like that.
- 21:30Speaker 3: It's interesting the point you bring up about these quarterbacks
- 21:33Speaker 3: giving us an unfair expectation of other quarterbacks. With Brady
- 21:35Speaker 3: playing in his forties, Rogers playing into forties two years
- 21:38Speaker 3: removed from an MVP too, So you know, even this
- 21:41Speaker 3: older version of Aaron Rodgers has been really good. And
- 21:43Speaker 3: I think about when Adrian Peterson came back from is
- 21:45Speaker 3: what ACL injury so quickly, then every running back started
- 21:48Speaker 3: to be compared to unfairly to Adrian Peterson's crazy fast recovery.
- 21:54Speaker 3: And if you didn't recover or you didn't play to
- 21:56Speaker 3: forty one, forty two years old, people would hold that
- 21:58Speaker 3: against them.
- 21:59Speaker 6: Yeah, it's funny because I just saw a study this
- 22:00Speaker 6: morning that like, I guess European doctors are like, wait,
- 22:03Speaker 6: NFL teams are doing what without acls and what with
- 22:06Speaker 6: Achilles injuries, and they rush them back so much at
- 22:10Speaker 6: the NFL, and it becomes unfair and if a guy
- 22:13Speaker 6: is struggling now, it just becomes And I'll give you
- 22:14Speaker 6: a great example you want talk about the Packers. David
- 22:16Speaker 6: Baktiori is a guy who had a pretty serious lower
- 22:19Speaker 6: body injury and from the time he was quote unquote
- 22:22Speaker 6: medically clear to everybody's saying, well, where's Baktari.
- 22:24Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 22:25Speaker 6: Different people heal at different points of time. And like
- 22:29Speaker 6: the idea that these guys need to get rushed back
- 22:31Speaker 6: on the field immediately, and if you don't, you should
- 22:34Speaker 6: be Michael Thomas in New Orleans another example. These guys
- 22:37Speaker 6: get killed for not coming back, and I just think
- 22:40Speaker 6: that's maybe an old school mentality of like, as soon
- 22:43Speaker 6: as you're ready to go, you play hurt. You're never
- 22:46Speaker 6: The old line is you're never one hundred percent in
- 22:47Speaker 6: the NFL, blah blah blah. Like some of these guys
- 22:49Speaker 6: are trying to have long jevity in their career, and
- 22:51Speaker 6: the idea you need to rush back from a serious
- 22:53Speaker 6: injury where that's achilles acl broken leg or whatever. It's
- 22:57Speaker 6: very strange and it kind of goes against a lot
- 22:59Speaker 6: of the science innovations of the last decade. It's kind
- 23:02Speaker 6: of the last old school thing we do in the
- 23:04Speaker 6: NFL lobby.
- 23:05Speaker 3: I think Anthony Rizzo from the Yankees had the concussion, yeah,
- 23:08Speaker 3: and he then played for I don't know, fifty games, yesty, However,
- 23:13Speaker 3: fifty games or so, that's the numbers thing exactly right.
- 23:16Speaker 3: Then he's like, well, my batting average only been one
- 23:18Speaker 3: hundred and I think I'm gonna go ahead and take
- 23:20Speaker 3: a break. And you're like, wow, you Whomever that was
- 23:24Speaker 3: that pushed probably himself.
- 23:25Speaker 1: He's his own guy, obviously, but you're right.
- 23:27Speaker 3: It's a culture thing, and it probably set him back
- 23:30Speaker 3: way farther than had he just went and addressed it originally.
- 23:33Speaker 6: One hundred percent. It is a culture thing because I've
- 23:35Speaker 6: heard I remember, I've been covering this league since I
- 23:38Speaker 6: was in college, and you've heard stories of guys got
- 23:42Speaker 6: above me. And his coach says, hey, listen, we're going
- 23:44Speaker 6: to go in a different direction if you're not out
- 23:46Speaker 6: there today, and then you have to go and rush it.
- 23:47Speaker 6: And you know, Rizzo is a different case because he's
- 23:50Speaker 6: got a lot of money coming to him, that's guaranteed.
- 23:52Speaker 6: But it's a culture thing. You're in New York City.
- 23:54Speaker 6: I live right about twenty five minutes north of Yankee Stadium,
- 23:57Speaker 6: and everybody here talks about Aaron Judge performance, in Anthony
- 24:00Speaker 6: Rizzo's performance and Labor Torres' performance every single morning, and
- 24:04Speaker 6: you don't want to remove yourself from that. There's a
- 24:06Speaker 6: ton of pressure that goes along with that, and a
- 24:09Speaker 6: ton of pressure in the community. So Anthony Rizota Rangers
- 24:11Speaker 6: game last summer, you know, people will talk to him
- 24:14Speaker 6: and say, hey, good or bad. You know, here's what
- 24:16Speaker 6: you're doing. And so you understand how that all builds
- 24:19Speaker 6: on itself. And the other thing is I've learned over
- 24:23Speaker 6: the past few years that the number one bond or
- 24:27Speaker 6: the number one motivating force for guys in sports is
- 24:30Speaker 6: their teammates. And there's been a lot of studies on
- 24:33Speaker 6: this that basically they stopped listening to the coach after
- 24:35Speaker 6: a while, they stopped listening to the fans after a while.
- 24:37Speaker 6: GM they never cared about They care about the guy
- 24:39Speaker 6: in the locker next to them or the guy in
- 24:41Speaker 6: the position next to them, And so there's pressure from
- 24:44Speaker 6: all sides. The only thing there's not ever pressure on
- 24:46Speaker 6: is sitting out. And that's that I think is is
- 24:50Speaker 6: that no one ever says you should sit out. That's
- 24:51Speaker 6: why I was actually impressed the other day when Jamar
- 24:53Speaker 6: Chase said that Joe Burrow should sit a couple of
- 24:55Speaker 6: games to start the season just to make sure he's healthy.
- 24:58Speaker 6: Nobody ever says that. So the fact that some players
- 25:01Speaker 6: are becoming a little more smart. On that is actually
- 25:04Speaker 6: kind of a watershed moment.
- 25:06Speaker 1: Go to Joe Burrow.
- 25:07Speaker 3: We saw the clip and then every doctor that's not
- 25:09Speaker 3: even really a doctor starts diagnosing him within fifteen seconds.
- 25:13Speaker 6: Twitter doctors.
- 25:13Speaker 1: I love it.
- 25:14Speaker 3: So where is he now? And they obviously have given
- 25:18Speaker 3: us more information? But what do you know as of today?
- 25:20Speaker 6: So he's trending the way he should be. I was
- 25:23Speaker 6: a practice for two days, two weeks ago and everything.
- 25:27Speaker 6: Nobody would say it because they're kind of trying to
- 25:30Speaker 6: be I wouldn't say optimistic. They're just trying to keep
- 25:33Speaker 6: it on the wraps because the don't want to rush
- 25:35Speaker 6: him right, But it seems like everything is trending towards
- 25:38Speaker 6: Week one. He's a tough guy. What I will say
- 25:42Speaker 6: is that I wouldn't expect, and this happened last year
- 25:44Speaker 6: and the year before. I wouldn't expect to see Joe
- 25:47Speaker 6: Burrow spreading five guys out and scoring one hundred touchdowns
- 25:51Speaker 6: a game in Week one. I talked to him a
- 25:53Speaker 6: couple of years ago and after his acl kind of
- 25:57Speaker 6: struggling in August September, and he had told me that
- 25:59Speaker 6: the vision listen This is no secret. Vision is his
- 26:02Speaker 6: strength and his best thing, is best attribute is spreading
- 26:06Speaker 6: guys out, reading the defense and picking them apart. And
- 26:09Speaker 6: what happens when you're out of practice, whether that's via
- 26:12Speaker 6: ACL a couple of years ago, last year of the
- 26:14Speaker 6: independent surgery, this year, it's the calf is. You don't
- 26:18Speaker 6: have the same sharpness. It's like any of us returning
- 26:20Speaker 6: to our jobs after a long layoff. You don't have
- 26:22Speaker 6: the same sharpness. And so I think you might see
- 26:25Speaker 6: more interceptions, might see more confusion, and just the ability,
- 26:29Speaker 6: the inability to read a defense like he would be
- 26:31Speaker 6: able to in November December. There's a learning curve when
- 26:34Speaker 6: your entire your entire strength is being able to see
- 26:39Speaker 6: everything clearly because your eyes just aren't sped up like that.
- 26:42Speaker 6: So I think he's going to be back in September.
- 26:44Speaker 6: I think he's going to play all the games he's
- 26:46Speaker 6: scheduled to play. But I do think if there's any
- 26:49Speaker 6: indication of the past few years, it might be another
- 26:52Speaker 6: slow start for the Begels.
- 26:53Speaker 3: You just mentioned three injuries over the last three years
- 26:55Speaker 3: that Joe Burrow's had.
- 26:56Speaker 1: I don't really consider Joe Burrow injury prone. But he's
- 27:00Speaker 1: had something all three years.
- 27:02Speaker 3: When you lay it out like that, I'm I think
- 27:04Speaker 3: he's had an ailment all three seasons. How do you
- 27:07Speaker 3: feel out Joe Burrow as being injury prone, Well, a
- 27:10Speaker 3: couple of banks.
- 27:10Speaker 6: Number One, he's tough as hell, which sometimes works against
- 27:13Speaker 6: guys I remember obviously a different deal. But Andrew Lucky
- 27:17Speaker 6: used to say he wanted to get hit on the
- 27:18Speaker 6: first series of the game every time because he just
- 27:20Speaker 6: wanted to get that out of the way, feel like
- 27:23Speaker 6: it's football and go from there. Sometimes these tough guys,
- 27:27Speaker 6: it's to their detriment and you would almost wish you
- 27:29Speaker 6: had the Kyler Murray, who because of the size, just says,
- 27:32Speaker 6: you know what, I'm just gonna bail on this play
- 27:34Speaker 6: and lay down and not get hit. Joe Burrow is
- 27:37Speaker 6: not that guy. He's tough and he's willing to take hits,
- 27:39Speaker 6: and sometimes that's to a detriment. You know. Brandon being
- 27:42Speaker 6: the gym with the Bills, told me last year that
- 27:45Speaker 6: the one thing he'll get on Josh Allen about it's
- 27:46Speaker 6: not bad interceptions, it's taking bad hits and going and trucking.
- 27:49Speaker 6: Kyle van Noy in Miami, a couple of years ago,
- 27:52Speaker 6: which I think the entire Bill staff was all pissed
- 27:54Speaker 6: off about because they were just like, why are you
- 27:55Speaker 6: doing You don't have to do this, just run out
- 27:57Speaker 6: of bounce. And So Joe Burrow is that kind of guy.
- 27:59Speaker 6: He likes to hits, he likes showing his toughness. He's
- 28:01Speaker 6: been like that for a really long time. He's almost
- 28:03Speaker 6: I mean, there's a story in Bruce Fellman's book about
- 28:05Speaker 6: how he started to practice fight at LSU because there
- 28:08Speaker 6: was another fight on the other side of the field
- 28:10Speaker 6: that he wasn't involved in. He felt bad about not
- 28:12Speaker 6: being in the fight, so we started another fight in
- 28:14Speaker 6: the next play. Like that's just the way he's That's
- 28:16Speaker 6: just the way he's wired, right. And So I don't
- 28:19Speaker 6: think if it's three separate injuries, right ACL calf appendix appendix,
- 28:24Speaker 6: from what I understand, he probably can't even do anything about.
- 28:27Speaker 6: I don't know football can cause that. I think it's
- 28:29Speaker 6: just kind of a human injury because I know a
- 28:30Speaker 6: lot of people who had appendix surgery and they didn't
- 28:33Speaker 6: play football, right, But I think that over time, the
- 28:37Speaker 6: more hits you take, and Joe Burrow's okay with taking them,
- 28:40Speaker 6: the likely order is that you're gonna get hurt, and
- 28:42Speaker 6: so I don't think he's injury prone. I just think
- 28:44Speaker 6: those type of tough guys are something to watch, especially
- 28:47Speaker 6: when you talked about Joe Burrow. He's getting more muscular,
- 28:51Speaker 6: but he's still not like. He's still not Cam Newton,
- 28:54Speaker 6: Josh Allen. He's not one of those absolute specimens as
- 28:58Speaker 6: far as body type goes. He's getting bigger. I saw
- 29:01Speaker 6: him in the locker room the other day. He's actually
- 29:02Speaker 6: quite jacked, but it's not he It still hurts when
- 29:06Speaker 6: he takes a big NFL hit.
- 29:08Speaker 4: Kevin Clark, it's Eddie here. I got a question for you.
- 29:12Speaker 4: I just want people to know who I'm talking to.
- 29:13Speaker 4: You know, but you can say your name, Hetty.
- 29:16Speaker 1: Garcia here, what's up?
- 29:17Speaker 6: Man?
- 29:17Speaker 3: My god?
- 29:17Speaker 7: What's up?
- 29:18Speaker 2: Brother?
- 29:18Speaker 1: Hey? Question for you.
- 29:19Speaker 4: I'm a huge Cowboys fan, but there are two things
- 29:21Speaker 4: that are keeping me from saying this is our year.
- 29:23Speaker 4: It's Dak Prescott and it's Tony Pollard. Where should I
- 29:27Speaker 4: feel about these two dudes? You already say it's their year.
- 29:29Speaker 4: You've said it to me twenty times. You just don't
- 29:31Speaker 4: want to be in front of Kevin saying that correct.
- 29:32Speaker 6: Okay, all right, wait, let's break this down. Why why
- 29:37Speaker 6: is Tony Pollard one of you? You don't think he's
- 29:39Speaker 6: good enough?
- 29:39Speaker 4: I want to ask you, though, do you think he's
- 29:41Speaker 4: good enough to carry the backfield for the Dallas Cowboys.
- 29:44Speaker 6: Yes, I'm not a running backs don't matter guy. I
- 29:47Speaker 6: think running backs matter quite a bit, but I also
- 29:49Speaker 6: think that there's a lot of things that matter more
- 29:52Speaker 6: offensive line run blocking. Getting Zach Martin back in camp
- 29:54Speaker 6: is usually important, and quarterback play and by the way,
- 29:57Speaker 6: also just offensive coordinator, which I think. I think Kellen
- 30:00Speaker 6: Moore has been overrated for a number of years. And
- 30:03Speaker 6: the number one thing people asked me kind of off
- 30:05Speaker 6: the record, Actually, let me phrase that. The number one
- 30:10Speaker 6: thing coach has asked me off the record was what
- 30:12Speaker 6: the hell is going on with Sean Payton? But then
- 30:14Speaker 6: the number two thing is is Kellen Moore gonna work
- 30:18Speaker 6: with Justin Herbert? And I think there I think there's
- 30:21Speaker 6: some skepticism. I mean, he was just running Kellen Moore
- 30:24Speaker 6: was just running the Jason Garrett scott Land and offense
- 30:28Speaker 6: with Mike McCarthy, right, And I think that there was
- 30:30Speaker 6: still I think there was some probably philosophical mix up
- 30:34Speaker 6: there last year. I think Dak having the McCarthy offense
- 30:37Speaker 6: with Brian schotten Huimer simplify things. I think that Dak
- 30:41Speaker 6: in itself, I think he's a really good quarterback. I
- 30:44Speaker 6: think he's enough to win a Super Bowl. I think
- 30:46Speaker 6: the talent there is insane. Ceedee Lamb I think was
- 30:49Speaker 6: the ninth best receiver last year by yards per yards
- 30:52Speaker 6: per route run, which is a hugely predictive statistic. This
- 30:55Speaker 6: is elite talent. The defense we know, dan Quinn, Michael
- 30:58Speaker 6: Parsons like, we know, they had the pieces to the elite.
- 31:00Speaker 6: I really actually liked Smith, the big defensive lineman who
- 31:04Speaker 6: they got in there. I think things are coming together.
- 31:07Speaker 6: Dak Prescott doesn't have to be the elite of the
- 31:10Speaker 6: elite for them to win the NFC. The NFC is barren,
- 31:13Speaker 6: and it's only going to take a couple of you know,
- 31:16Speaker 6: games in December and all of a sudden, you know,
- 31:18Speaker 6: a couple of fumble luck, couple injury luck, whatever, and
- 31:21Speaker 6: they can get a couple of easy playoff games. They
- 31:24Speaker 6: can make the Super Bowl easily. They've got the talent.
- 31:26Speaker 6: I think Dak Prescott can win a Super Bowl, and
- 31:29Speaker 6: I think you can help Tony Pollard win a Super Bowl.
- 31:31Speaker 1: Oh.
- 31:31Speaker 6: In fact, I go as far to say Eddie stupid
- 31:35Speaker 6: the Cowboys on my pick out of the NFCX Who
- 31:39Speaker 6: you heard him?
- 31:40Speaker 1: You heard Kevin Clark say that right now?
- 31:42Speaker 3: Bones, Yeah, but you were not honest about your feeling.
- 31:45Speaker 1: No, no, no, I was setting them upones. That's what you do.
- 31:47Speaker 1: You set them up. You set them up.
- 31:49Speaker 3: You're like, hey man, I don't know, we're good enough.
- 31:50Speaker 3: And then look what did he come out with? We're
- 31:52Speaker 3: good enough to win the NFC. Baby, he baited me
- 31:56Speaker 3: speaking of that division, the Commanders, I dance.
- 32:00Speaker 1: I'm not the owner anymore.
- 32:01Speaker 3: Have you seen a difference in last year at a
- 32:03Speaker 3: Dan Snyder versus this new Josh Harris team.
- 32:08Speaker 6: So I saw it. It's actually kind of funny. I
- 32:09Speaker 6: was there for two days last week outside the lines,
- 32:12Speaker 6: outside the field, night and day. Thousands of fans in
- 32:15Speaker 6: the stands, everybody wearing commander's gear. Everybody's excited. They were
- 32:19Speaker 6: turning people away, all that stuff right on the field,
- 32:23Speaker 6: same old team. Sam Howe doesn't like he's a long
- 32:26Speaker 6: term answer. Maybe maybe he'll develop into something. I just
- 32:28Speaker 6: didn't like. What he was doing in practice holding on
- 32:31Speaker 6: to the ball forever, which, by the way, all three
- 32:33Speaker 6: quarterbacks there too. The talent is just now where it
- 32:38Speaker 6: needs to be. There's only a handful of players. Think
- 32:41Speaker 6: Terry McLaren and and two of the defensive linemen or
- 32:45Speaker 6: front seven guys are the only players who are under
- 32:46Speaker 6: contract for more than two years who aren't rookies. And
- 32:50Speaker 6: that's that's probably a good thing. There's just no talent there.
- 32:53Speaker 6: But I also don't think anybody cares. Like Josh Harris
- 32:57Speaker 6: buying that team is the most transformational single transaction for
- 33:01Speaker 6: a franchise of any team in the last twenty years,
- 33:03Speaker 6: and maybe even like thirty years, forty years. I don't
- 33:06Speaker 6: know how far you want to.
- 33:07Speaker 2: Get cha pay.
- 33:09Speaker 1: That's right.
- 33:11Speaker 6: Well, it's just like, you know, I have a bunch
- 33:14Speaker 6: of family in Washington, right, and the way they talk
- 33:16Speaker 6: about the Washington team of the early nineties, it's like,
- 33:21Speaker 6: I like they're from a different universe, you know. I
- 33:22Speaker 6: was listening to a Bill Parcels interview a couple of
- 33:24Speaker 6: weeks ago, and he was like, oh, you know how
- 33:26Speaker 6: crazy those games were, how loud that crowd was at RFK,
- 33:29Speaker 6: And I was like, I have no idea, Like, what
- 33:32Speaker 6: are you talking about? I just doesn't seem I'm I
- 33:35Speaker 6: was born in nineteen eighty six, and so my first
- 33:38Speaker 6: Super Bowl, I'm happy to say for you guys, was
- 33:41Speaker 6: the last Cowboys Bill Super Bowl, and so I missed
- 33:44Speaker 6: Joe Gibbs and missed all that stuff. And so to
- 33:47Speaker 6: hear that the command was some crown Jewel franchise seems
- 33:49Speaker 6: incredibly foreign to me. And so I think they're gonna
- 33:53Speaker 6: be able to turn it around, like the fan base
- 33:54Speaker 6: is going to come back really quickly. And then Josh
- 33:58Speaker 6: Harris is a good owner, He'll take a year to evaluate.
- 34:01Speaker 6: You'll fire the people needed to be fired. I think
- 34:03Speaker 6: we all have a pretty good idea of who that is,
- 34:05Speaker 6: and then we can we can go from there. And
- 34:07Speaker 6: I think that you're gonna see a pretty model franchise
- 34:09Speaker 6: really quickly, because I don't think people get the way
- 34:12Speaker 6: Philadelphia loves the Eagles, the way Dallas loves the Cowboys,
- 34:15Speaker 6: way that New York and Jersey loved the Giants that
- 34:19Speaker 6: used to be Washington And it will be very quickly.
- 34:22Speaker 1: Are they going to change the name again?
- 34:24Speaker 6: I hope so? Shouldn't they? Guy, shouldn't they just go
- 34:27Speaker 6: back to Washington Football team or Washington Football Club.
- 34:29Speaker 3: I did like those football club football team better than
- 34:33Speaker 3: the Redskins, better than the command The Commanders just feel forced.
- 34:37Speaker 3: It's just like I'm going to name my team something
- 34:39Speaker 3: that commands you like we want.
- 34:41Speaker 6: Also, any Snyder decision was bad, so just right.
- 34:46Speaker 3: Yeah, I think changing the name to something all new
- 34:50Speaker 3: seems annoying and just like we had to go through
- 34:53Speaker 3: this again. It's almost like I'm getting married for a
- 34:54Speaker 3: fourth time. You gotta change my last name over and
- 34:56Speaker 3: over again. But I would I think the Washington football
- 34:59Speaker 3: team or even club very soccer feeling would be pretty cool.
- 35:02Speaker 3: And I too see if I were a Red commit whatever,
- 35:06Speaker 3: if I were a fan of the Washington team, I
- 35:09Speaker 3: would be very excited at Snyder's out because at least
- 35:11Speaker 3: there's hope.
- 35:11Speaker 1: It's just not bleak. It was just bleak with Dan
- 35:13Speaker 1: Snyder's owner.
- 35:14Speaker 6: That was the thing when I was watching practice that
- 35:16Speaker 6: was so interested in me because I think that there
- 35:18Speaker 6: was a feeling anytime anybody flash where that's our Robert
- 35:21Speaker 6: Griffin the third, whether that's even Tara McLaren, Like there
- 35:24Speaker 6: was this feeling our Chase Young is rookie year, there's
- 35:26Speaker 6: just this feeling that Snyder was going to screw it up.
- 35:29Speaker 6: Even if Snyder had taken Patrick Mahomes in twenty seventeen,
- 35:33Speaker 6: he would have found a way to screw that up.
- 35:34Speaker 6: There was no momentum, there was nothing building on anything.
- 35:37Speaker 6: And now it feels like, Okay, if we had this
- 35:39Speaker 6: one colonel, this one shred of success, then we can
- 35:44Speaker 6: build on that because we have a competent owner who's
- 35:46Speaker 6: going to hire the right people. Hire a coach, knows
- 35:49Speaker 6: what he's doing, hire a GM was going to stack
- 35:51Speaker 6: talent like It's just I couldn't even imagine, like I'm
- 35:54Speaker 6: a bigger land of magic pan I'm wearing a magic
- 35:56Speaker 6: shirt right now. Actually, And it just felt for years,
- 35:59Speaker 6: especially like right after the Duyt Howard trade, that nothing
- 36:02Speaker 6: was ever building towards anything, and if we'd get a
- 36:04Speaker 6: guy like Tobias Harris, he would have score twenty points
- 36:07Speaker 6: a game, it would go towards nothing and then would
- 36:08Speaker 6: give him up for nothing, which is exactly ended up happening.
- 36:11Speaker 6: But it's just if there's nothing, if it feels hopeless
- 36:15Speaker 6: that that uh touches every corner of the franchise very
- 36:19Speaker 6: very very quickly, and it's felt like that, including in
- 36:22Speaker 6: the fan base in Washington for since since the Pennington era.
- 36:25Speaker 3: I would say, all right, three final questions. Caleb Williams.
- 36:27Speaker 3: My question is, I don't know. Is he gonna be awesome?
- 36:31Speaker 6: Yes? He is. I think there's a there's a couple
- 36:33Speaker 6: of good quarterbacks. Drake May is really good, Riley Leonard
- 36:36Speaker 6: at Duke is really good. Caleb Williams is probably going
- 36:38Speaker 6: to be number one. He was Calebims on my show
- 36:40Speaker 6: a couple of weeks ago. I really liked him, A
- 36:43Speaker 6: pretty thoughtful guy. He completely dismissed the Mahomes comparisons, just
- 36:46Speaker 6: said we're different people. He's got two super Bowls, I
- 36:48Speaker 6: have even won a national championship. I think. I think
- 36:51Speaker 6: he's an interesting guy, and I think some team I
- 36:53Speaker 6: think the Cardinals are probably going to sell out to
- 36:55Speaker 6: get him, and that's that's gonna work. I think he's
- 36:58Speaker 6: gonna be really, really, really good. Some of the advanced
- 37:00Speaker 6: metrics show he's a little Mahomes like, and so I
- 37:04Speaker 6: do think that's going to work.
- 37:06Speaker 3: With the Cardinals seemingly tanking and with Kyler Hurt, it's
- 37:10Speaker 3: a weird position to be Kyler Murray because you want
- 37:13Speaker 3: to play to show that you still can play. You
- 37:16Speaker 3: don't want to play injured. But you also know that
- 37:18Speaker 3: if your team gets the number one pick, you're out.
- 37:20Speaker 3: That's just a bizarre situation.
- 37:23Speaker 6: Let me push back on that. So he's made a
- 37:26Speaker 6: ton of money. He's doing a ton of money. Arizona
- 37:30Speaker 6: not the best place to date from a franchise standpoint.
- 37:32Speaker 6: Not going to help you win isn't the best thing.
- 37:37Speaker 6: Just being able to choose where you get to go.
- 37:39Speaker 6: But does he get to you in the bank?
- 37:40Speaker 1: Does he get to choose though, who's going to.
- 37:42Speaker 6: Trade for h Who's going to trade for that contract
- 37:44Speaker 6: he doesn't play the.
- 37:44Speaker 3: Shore somebody that has the money and probably isn't very
- 37:47Speaker 3: good also, right.
- 37:49Speaker 6: Well maybe or maybe they just wouldn't be able to
- 37:52Speaker 6: I think it'd be really hot. I mean, listen, we're
- 37:53Speaker 6: in the post Carson Wentz, Sarah. I'll let me say
- 37:55Speaker 6: that teams were willing to trade for Carson Wentz, and
- 37:58Speaker 6: once that happened, I'm ready to believe a contract is tradable.
- 38:01Speaker 6: So maybe maybe there's that. But if he if he
- 38:04Speaker 6: doesn't play this year and he gets the reputation as
- 38:07Speaker 6: a guy who you know doesn't want to play the
- 38:10Speaker 6: renjer or whatever kind of like we were talking about earlier.
- 38:12Speaker 6: I think he would be you would reach for agency
- 38:14Speaker 6: lead or have to go one year in some stop
- 38:17Speaker 6: gap place. They could choose where he wants to get
- 38:19Speaker 6: a bunch of money in the bank and he could
- 38:21Speaker 6: go to a better franchise. I don't know. I think
- 38:23Speaker 6: that the Cardinals are probably going to retool anyway, and
- 38:27Speaker 6: I don't know if he's in their long term plans,
- 38:29Speaker 6: just because they might have the first two picks in
- 38:31Speaker 6: the draft next year because they got Houston's number one
- 38:34Speaker 6: pick too for the Will Anderson trade. So they're going
- 38:37Speaker 6: to remake their franchise. And I don't think they're going
- 38:39Speaker 6: to take Marvin Harrison Junior with the first overall pick
- 38:42Speaker 6: or whatever. They're going to take a quarterback if they
- 38:44Speaker 6: get it, and so I think that the timelines heah
- 38:46Speaker 6: on the match up there. It's a new coach, it's
- 38:48Speaker 6: a new GM. Kyler Murray's in the middle of his
- 38:50Speaker 6: second contract. It's huge, like maybe a fresh start is
- 38:54Speaker 6: probably better for everybody.
- 38:55Speaker 3: I just it would hurt my ego as someone who
- 38:57Speaker 3: lives with an ego that the team and that I'm
- 39:00Speaker 3: on is being talked about tanking so they can draft
- 39:03Speaker 3: my replacement, and he already just known as a guy
- 39:06Speaker 3: with an eg I just.
- 39:07Speaker 1: Would it would be awkward for me to be around
- 39:08Speaker 1: the building at all.
- 39:10Speaker 6: I guess we're different. I can be paid off.
- 39:15Speaker 1: Fair, fair, no amount of money, though.
- 39:18Speaker 6: I have a number of the if my bank account
- 39:21Speaker 6: reaches it.
- 39:22Speaker 1: Okay, that's fair.
- 39:23Speaker 6: So Kyler is sitting that number.
- 39:25Speaker 3: All right, final question for you here, this is a
- 39:28Speaker 3: personal question for you. I mean, it really is Miami back.
- 39:33Speaker 3: They're always back, but you know are they back now? Oh?
- 39:37Speaker 6: God, I just saw that our super booster, John Ruiz,
- 39:42Speaker 6: if you're following that, he's the guy who's been funding
- 39:44Speaker 6: the nil money that he's been sued for. Apparently his
- 39:47Speaker 6: company is a Ponzi scheme according to people who are
- 39:50Speaker 6: suing him. So Miami's back to scandals, huge scandals, which
- 39:54Speaker 6: I guess is back in. Yeah, we're back. We're about
- 39:57Speaker 6: what we're getting sued for Ponzi scheam running. We know
- 39:59Speaker 6: we're back. No, it's uh, it's going to take a
- 40:03Speaker 6: couple of years. I think they'll be good. This year.
- 40:05Speaker 6: They have Texas, A and M second week of the season,
- 40:07Speaker 6: which would be good. Litmus Tesskaus text A and M's
- 40:08Speaker 6: also trying to get back. I think twenty twenty four
- 40:12Speaker 6: is more likely. I think they will get back to
- 40:16Speaker 6: sort of the ten win thing. But the problem is
- 40:17Speaker 6: Bobby is like and you know Texas is like this
- 40:20Speaker 6: as well. But like, the competition for Miami recruits, Southworida recruits,
- 40:24Speaker 6: Fort Lauderdale recruits is just way too high and the
- 40:28Speaker 6: game changed and coaches with that's Butch Davis, Jimmy Johnson
- 40:32Speaker 6: used to be able to go around Miami with a
- 40:34Speaker 6: basically a sign up sheet and say, hey, you know,
- 40:36Speaker 6: we're going to take the twenty five best players in
- 40:38Speaker 6: Miami Dade and Broward County. That doesn't happen anymore. And
- 40:41Speaker 6: teams like Louisville and Georgia and Alabama are down in
- 40:45Speaker 6: Fort Lauderville every single day recruiting, and so that's that's
- 40:48Speaker 6: the choice. That that that's the state of play now,
- 40:53Speaker 6: and we have to adjust to it and understand that, like,
- 40:56Speaker 6: we're only going to get five of the top twenty
- 40:57Speaker 6: five guys in South Florida and once that happens. You
- 41:00Speaker 6: go from winning the national title every other year to
- 41:03Speaker 6: winning the ACC every five years, which is probably uh
- 41:06Speaker 6: the trajectory they're on unless they improve quite a bit
- 41:08Speaker 6: in the next couple of years.
- 41:09Speaker 3: We were talking about Slow News Day before you came on,
- 41:11Speaker 3: so I want tocourage everybody else to go check out
- 41:13Speaker 3: Slow News Day. It's a great show and follow Kevin
- 41:17Speaker 3: on Twitter, Instagram. It's by Kevin Clark. B Why Kevin
- 41:21Speaker 3: Clark a big fan. You know, my friends say you're cool,
- 41:24Speaker 3: so you must be cool because my friends are not
- 41:26Speaker 3: that cool and they don't like to say other people
- 41:28Speaker 3: are cool. So you know, good, good to spend some
- 41:31Speaker 3: time with you.
- 41:31Speaker 6: And I'll say this, I know what you're talking about,
- 41:34Speaker 6: and those guys are not cool.
- 41:35Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying. They're not cool, so for them
- 41:36Speaker 3: to say anybody's cool is that. So I'll say this.
- 41:39Speaker 3: And my final thing to say is that I know
- 41:41Speaker 3: you're a big magic event. I think you're going to
- 41:43Speaker 3: be extremely impressed and surprised to Anthony Black like that dude.
- 41:47Speaker 3: He is, as they say, he's got the dog that
- 41:49Speaker 3: lives in him, so he's gonna he's You're gonna You're
- 41:52Speaker 3: gonna love the guy.
- 41:53Speaker 1: You love him.
- 41:54Speaker 6: I'm so excited. I'm so excited. I get with Palo
- 41:57Speaker 6: Franz like there's actual even though there was no ownership change,
- 42:00Speaker 6: and honestly feels like like like we have it's a
- 42:03Speaker 6: new day there. It's just it's awesome and I'm no
- 42:07Speaker 6: longer embarrassed for magic shirts around New York.
- 42:09Speaker 3: I was just handed this breaking news dance nighter bought
- 42:11Speaker 3: the magic Oh crap, Oh no, all right, we'll leave
- 42:16Speaker 3: you on that, Kevin. Thank you for the time, buddy,
- 42:18Speaker 3: good to see you. Thanks guys, Thanks Kevin Clark, great interview.
- 42:26Speaker 1: Love that dude.
- 42:27Speaker 3: Hope to have him on again sometime soon. Now you've
- 42:29Speaker 3: a woided all year. The time has finally arrived. College
- 42:31Speaker 3: football back, and so are the traditions, the tailgates and

- 43:49Speaker 3: I was watching the BMW. I bet on the BMW,
- 43:53Speaker 3: and that is it was top fifty of the golfers, yep,
- 43:57Speaker 3: from seventy to fifty. Yeah, which happened, And oh Eddie's
- 44:03Speaker 3: guy won?
- 44:05Speaker 4: Uh yeah, Victor Holland Man, I bet on him every
- 44:08Speaker 4: week and it's and you know, I don't get it twisted.
- 44:10Speaker 4: I bet five dollars, like and usually where Victor is
- 44:13Speaker 4: on a Sunday morning. I mean that's like five dollars
- 44:16Speaker 4: to win, like one hundred. Wait, so you only bet
- 44:18Speaker 4: at Sunday.
- 44:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 44:19Speaker 4: I wake up Sunday morning and see where they're at.
- 44:21Speaker 4: And then oh, I thought you bet before the tournament. No, no,
- 44:23Speaker 4: And I usually see, like, you know, all right, who's
- 44:26Speaker 4: leading Scheffler, who's behind him? It's Patrick, no chance, keep going,
- 44:30Speaker 4: keep going, keep going. And then I'm like, ooh Victor,
- 44:32Speaker 4: like that's not bad. He's in the top four, top five, Like,
- 44:35Speaker 4: let me put five bucks on him? And did he
- 44:37Speaker 4: want the whole thing? Good for him?
- 44:38Speaker 3: Dude, I bet five hundred bucks. Oh oh god, hold
- 44:44Speaker 3: little different. I didn't even tell you guys who I bet,
- 44:46Speaker 3: yet I split it up a little bit because if
- 44:48Speaker 3: he but I was just talking about five dollars bets here. Oh,
- 44:50Speaker 3: I'm about to tell you how stupid I am. I
- 44:52Speaker 3: don't like sharing all my bets because I just feel
- 44:53Speaker 3: like an idiot. But I wanted to spread it out
- 44:55Speaker 3: a little bit because I you can hit a golf winner.
- 44:57Speaker 3: There's so many golfers, and I bet it before tournament starts.
- 45:00Speaker 3: The odds are amazing. I want the really, really prime odds.
- 45:04Speaker 3: So I bet four golfers and I spent five hundred
- 45:08Speaker 3: bucks on four golfers, so one hundred and twenty five
- 45:10Speaker 3: bucks a golfer. I bet Ricky Fowler to win. He
- 45:13Speaker 3: did not win. I bet Rory to win, finished fourth.
- 45:20Speaker 3: He did not win.
- 45:20Speaker 1: A good little run the.
- 45:23Speaker 3: Yeah he did. I thought he had a shot. I
- 45:24Speaker 3: bet Jordan Speaks to win. He did not win. I
- 45:28Speaker 3: think he missed the thirty two. I bet Scottie Scheffler
- 45:30Speaker 3: to win. Oh that's the one. Yeah, and so Eddie
- 45:35Speaker 3: well sends me over his Hey, look, I'd be five
- 45:37Speaker 3: dollars and I won, So I sent on my back.
- 45:39Speaker 3: I was like, I bet a freaking hundred whatever, and
- 45:41Speaker 3: I was about to clean up.
- 45:43Speaker 1: That's our thing.
- 45:44Speaker 3: And then Eddie's like, all he's gotta do is it
- 45:46Speaker 3: is pissing me off?
- 45:47Speaker 4: Well, well, I felt like he didn't understand the situation
- 45:49Speaker 4: because You're like, shut up, I'm hoping for this. I'm like, dude,
- 45:52Speaker 4: he has to eagle the next hole and the it's
- 45:54Speaker 4: a part four. Like he's I got it, didn't matter.
- 45:56Speaker 4: But I'm like, Stu, shut me, shut up. He has
- 45:59Speaker 4: no chance of winning, and like, you've lost your bet.
- 46:01Speaker 4: Look at my bet slip.
- 46:04Speaker 1: So dumb. I just I can't win it. Golf.
- 46:07Speaker 4: It's not easy hard, It's not easy, Kevin. Let me
- 46:09Speaker 4: tell you, Bobby is weird tactic. He usually bets on
- 46:13Speaker 4: people and not the fourth that you mentioned. He bets
- 46:15Speaker 4: on people that he's played with before.
- 46:17Speaker 3: Yeah, Like, uh, I did bet sam Burns, Jordan Speed
- 46:22Speaker 3: not in this mix because I look back and I
- 46:24Speaker 3: was like, when I bet sam Burns. I did bet
- 46:25Speaker 3: sam Burns by itself twenty five bucks at the very beginning,
- 46:29Speaker 3: and then he had a terrible first day. Then he
- 46:31Speaker 3: went like nine under the second day and I was like,
- 46:32Speaker 3: we're bugging no baby, and he lost it. But yeah
- 46:35Speaker 3: I did, I did, but Speed I placed with.
- 46:37Speaker 4: Feet twice Chess and Hadley we met him at Pebble Beach.
- 46:40Speaker 4: Had I got conversation checks all the time, Bobby Tech.
- 46:42Speaker 5: You bet them to win though not even finished or anything.
- 46:44Speaker 3: Yeah, but sometimes I bet to top ten, like chess
- 46:48Speaker 3: in I bet top ten and then he finished like twelve,
- 46:50Speaker 3: and I'm like, I didn't, dude, did.
- 46:51Speaker 1: You call him? Yeah?
- 46:52Speaker 5: I text him yeah, like dude, I had money on you.
- 46:55Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 46:56Speaker 3: How that makes him feel? He's like, yeah, bro, I
- 46:59Speaker 3: was trying to win the turn career and think about
- 47:01Speaker 3: that part. I was like, I had a bunch of
- 47:02Speaker 3: money on you. Thanks for letting.
- 47:05Speaker 1: Yeah, it sucks. Congrats, congrats, congrats on your win. Man.
- 47:08Speaker 3: It's a trip to see to see him talk. Victor Hovel,
- 47:11Speaker 3: I don't watch him talk because I'm alway pissed I
- 47:13Speaker 3: lost the.
- 47:13Speaker 1: Bet, right, got it?
- 47:14Speaker 4: You don't watch the poddy to talk like well, because
- 47:16Speaker 4: he was like from Norway and like you know, it's
- 47:18Speaker 4: like he spells his name with a K and he's
- 47:21Speaker 4: just like, yeah, man, I played a really good round
- 47:23Speaker 4: today And I'm like, whoa.
- 47:24Speaker 1: Oh, that's how he talks. No, I thought he would
- 47:27Speaker 1: be like straight foreigner.
- 47:28Speaker 3: I'm never there I never bet on him, so I
- 47:30Speaker 3: by the time I got lose it, I'm out.
- 47:32Speaker 1: Yeah, it's pretty cool. I saw you're honest at the airport.
- 47:35Speaker 3: That was crazy, you too, Yeah, both Bobby and I
- 47:39Speaker 3: were flying in.
- 47:40Speaker 1: But here's my the problem that I have.
- 47:43Speaker 4: Well, me too, Oh you too. Yeah, it's too late
- 47:47Speaker 4: when I was too late for me to realize that
- 47:48Speaker 4: was him. Okay, thank you, Sam, go ahead, we're coming in.
- 47:51Speaker 1: We were. We finished the show in Tampa.
- 47:54Speaker 3: I'll just be honest about the whole thing here Saturday night,
- 47:57Speaker 3: and as soon as shows over, we just get on
- 47:58Speaker 3: the plane and fly back, flew by private. And so
- 48:01Speaker 3: we get back and we fly to the private airport
- 48:03Speaker 3: because Jannis probably ain't gonna be at Southwest Gate negative
- 48:07Speaker 3: where we will be sometimes he's not flying Spirit right.
- 48:11Speaker 3: And so we walk in and I see a guy
- 48:13Speaker 3: I thought he played for Nashville.
- 48:15Speaker 1: He had a jersey, a FC or SSC.
- 48:19Speaker 3: He had a Nashville SC black jersey with a yellow
- 48:23Speaker 3: tag across the front that said in Nashville s C.
- 48:25Speaker 3: And I see him sitting in. There's like four people
- 48:26Speaker 3: in there, four or five people, and they just saw
- 48:28Speaker 3: him sitting Yeah, I saw him standing. I would have
- 48:29Speaker 3: known it was him that if he was standing on
- 48:31Speaker 3: he was he was standing. I go, wow, that's a
- 48:33Speaker 3: really big soccer player. Really, I thought that soccer player
- 48:37Speaker 3: looks very familiar. How would I? I don't know any
- 48:40Speaker 3: of the soccer players, That's what I thought. And so
- 48:43Speaker 3: we walk out. I walk out and my wife's behind me,
- 48:45Speaker 3: and she comes out. She goes, do you don't want
- 48:47Speaker 3: to say how to Yannis? And I was like, ye, honest,
- 48:51Speaker 3: who like, if there's any.
- 48:52Speaker 1: Other y oh you mean Yannie.
- 48:56Speaker 3: She's like, Jannis was sitting in there, just like hanging out.
- 48:59Speaker 3: She noticed immediately and didn't say a word to any
- 49:01Speaker 3: of us. And I said, how did you know it
- 49:03Speaker 3: was him? She goes, well, I recognized him. She's a
- 49:06Speaker 3: big NBA fan, medium big NBA fan enough to know Yannis. Yeah,
- 49:10Speaker 3: and she goes, then he stood up. And I was like, oh,
- 49:12Speaker 3: that's for sure, Jannis. He goes me he stood up?
- 49:13Speaker 3: I for sure, No, dude, he was gigantic.
- 49:16Speaker 1: You know what she said? He was so tall, but
- 49:18Speaker 1: he wasn't as thick as she thought he would be.
- 49:20Speaker 1: That's accurate.
- 49:21Speaker 5: Was he in just like a jersey or he's a
- 49:23Speaker 5: lot of clothing.
- 49:24Speaker 3: Or no, he was ready the pooh. He had only
- 49:26Speaker 3: a jersey on top, and he was completely naked and nice.
- 49:28Speaker 1: He still didn't notice him. Here's the deal.
- 49:30Speaker 4: There were probably six or seven people there waiting.
- 49:34Speaker 1: He was one of them.
- 49:35Speaker 4: They all had Nashville sc stuff on and they were
- 49:38Speaker 4: speaking a different language. So I immediately my brain just
- 49:40Speaker 4: went to their soccer players.
- 49:43Speaker 1: That's it. Period.
- 49:44Speaker 4: Then I saw Yannis and I go, that's a really
- 49:46Speaker 4: big soccer player. I'm like, why would a soccer player
- 49:49Speaker 4: be that big, Like why would they want to be back?
- 49:50Speaker 4: And I saw his face and I said, he looks familiar,
- 49:53Speaker 4: but I don't know who he is. And he's speaking
- 49:54Speaker 4: a different language, don't know and.
- 49:55Speaker 3: All that, and you still he was standing out, dude
- 49:59Speaker 3: ed and you still didn't know. He had a Greek
- 50:00Speaker 3: salad in his hand. Basketball on the other the Buck
- 50:04Speaker 3: mascot was standing behind him to.
- 50:06Speaker 4: THEO in the back of the dang. But you know,
- 50:09Speaker 4: like I had the same thing. Somebody was just like, wow,
- 50:11Speaker 4: you didn't say how to be honest. I'm like, oh
- 50:14Speaker 4: my goodness, that's you honest.
- 50:16Speaker 1: So I go back.
- 50:17Speaker 3: You went back? Oh yeah, I went back. I went
- 50:19Speaker 3: back and he was walking out the door. Would you
- 50:22Speaker 3: have said something? Absolutely? I had my phone out ready
- 50:25Speaker 3: to take a picture. One I would have said something
- 50:27Speaker 3: because when I go up people, they never know who
- 50:30Speaker 3: I am. But I have such a weird name, especially
- 50:32Speaker 3: in a place like that, they just are like Bobby Bones.
- 50:35Speaker 1: It's gotta be something. So I'm just gonna act nice.
- 50:37Speaker 5: That's cool.
- 50:38Speaker 3: It's true because they have He would have no idea,
- 50:40Speaker 3: but I say, hey, yeah to some Bobby Bones, good
- 50:41Speaker 3: to see. He'd be like sure, actor singer, Oh god,
- 50:44Speaker 3: I don't know. He just would have yes. He just anything,
- 50:49Speaker 3: man who knows. And usually they're just nice at that
- 50:52Speaker 3: point because you just say it with like confidence, Hey man,
- 50:57Speaker 3: Bobby Bones, right, okay, hello, And there's a chance you
- 51:01Speaker 3: know he listens the top trust me, no chance Country
- 51:06Speaker 3: Top thirty man, I don't think so.
- 51:07Speaker 1: No, But it was pretty cool. I was like, oh yeah,
- 51:10Speaker 1: that was freaking honest. Yeah. I did see Rory when
- 51:14Speaker 1: we were playing at the Memphis.
- 51:16Speaker 3: FedEx Saint Jude Classic, geting on my classics mixed up
- 51:19Speaker 3: here a lot of classics. I did see Rory walking
- 51:21Speaker 3: downstairs and we were there and we weren't teamed up
- 51:25Speaker 3: with Rory. We were teams of Sam Burns and I
- 51:28Speaker 3: don't know some other did never heard of Victor Hovlin.
- 51:31Speaker 1: I think no, it wasn't. I'd never heard of him either,
- 51:33Speaker 1: but he was a top seventy golfer, which was weird.
- 51:36Speaker 3: And so we go and we're all practicing and everybody's there.
- 51:40Speaker 3: You just stand around and Rory's coming like five feet
- 51:42Speaker 3: from me, and I'm just about to go, hey, Rory,
- 51:44Speaker 3: what's up.
- 51:44Speaker 2: How's it going?
- 51:44Speaker 1: Tobby Bones, Hey boy Bones?
- 51:46Speaker 3: Yeah, and DJ, my brother in law Caddie, goes, that's Rory,
- 51:51Speaker 3: and I'm like, well, now I.
- 51:52Speaker 1: Can't, oh, no, loud enough for Rory to hear.
- 51:55Speaker 3: Well, maybe so I couldn't be like, hey, by Bones
- 51:58Speaker 3: and He's like, no, you guys just freak geeked out
- 51:59Speaker 3: on me.
- 52:00Speaker 1: Uh huh So, but I would have said Rory ripped.
- 52:03Speaker 3: Rory was put together well, but he was in a
- 52:05Speaker 3: golf shirt and jeans. But he wasn't like a bodybuilder,
- 52:09Speaker 3: but he definitely was in shape.
- 52:10Speaker 5: Is he tall at all?
- 52:11Speaker 1: No, he's short? Sure?
- 52:12Speaker 3: Well, well, you know when I watch I have him
- 52:14Speaker 3: kind of pinned out the way I think they look.
- 52:17Speaker 1: I see him short and stout. Is he a teapot?
- 52:22Speaker 1: I knew you were gonna do that. I dang man,
- 52:25Speaker 1: I don't. He seemed pretty tall. I don't know he was.
- 52:27Speaker 1: He was walking downstairs. It was above me. Okay, so
- 52:31Speaker 1: that's why he was tall because he's up upstairs. I
- 52:32Speaker 1: bet he's probably five eleven, says nine. That's it.
- 52:37Speaker 5: That's short, dude, which means he's five to seven.
- 52:40Speaker 1: Did they lie on that? Yeah?
- 52:41Speaker 4: Wait, so okay, so the so Yannis that's I mean
- 52:44Speaker 4: he looks seven to three.
- 52:46Speaker 3: Yeah. They have to be honest about basketball height though,
- 52:48Speaker 3: at least more so because that's actually part of the game.
- 52:50Speaker 1: He's listed at six to eleven.
- 52:51Speaker 4: Yeah. That to me when I saw him, like, that's
- 52:55Speaker 4: that's seven. That's over seven feet.
- 52:57Speaker 1: You're close, Hi, You're close. Yeah, you guys. Check out

- 54:10Speaker 3: underscore stop Sinco?
- 54:12Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, got it?
- 54:15Speaker 1: Sinco like that?
- 54:16Speaker 3: Yeah, but it's just too the names are way too
- 54:17Speaker 3: different and is he still number five? Yeah?
- 54:21Speaker 1: Okay, good, all right, but it's like you need the
- 54:22Speaker 1: names to match. Yeah, totally.
- 54:24Speaker 3: You know, one of the one way or the other.
- 54:26Speaker 3: Area is really enjoyed it. Here is South Carolina running
- 54:29Speaker 3: back to carry and Joiner.
- 54:30Speaker 2: So this is the indoor facility.
- 54:33Speaker 3: It is how often do you guys get to come
- 54:34Speaker 3: in practice in this aeric It feels good in here.
- 54:37Speaker 2: It does never. Oh, that's why you don't get to practice.
- 54:40Speaker 3: Never in here Where I was outside, this is like
- 54:42Speaker 3: one of the nicest indoor facilities I've seen.
- 54:43Speaker 2: It honestly, is like you know, I was.
- 54:45Speaker 8: I grew up getting recruited in different places, and this
- 54:48Speaker 8: is definitely one of the most impressive indoors I've seen
- 54:50Speaker 8: in the country.
- 54:50Speaker 3: What about South Carolina when you came? What attracted you
- 54:55Speaker 3: to come to South Carolina?
- 54:56Speaker 8: The fans We have very gravery loyal fans. I always say,
- 55:01Speaker 8: no one ever done really really well. They're one of
- 55:03Speaker 8: the best fans in the country. But they're very honest,
- 55:05Speaker 8: which I which I definitely appreciate. That's what I wanted
- 55:07Speaker 8: to be a part of. Definitely, a family, a family
- 55:10Speaker 8: atmosphere makes me feel that home. I feel all the
- 55:13Speaker 8: love from here, So that was definitely one of my
- 55:14Speaker 8: top priorities for staying here.
- 55:16Speaker 2: Coach Beember, what's he like? Do you ever get to
- 55:18Speaker 2: spend time with him as a dude?
- 55:20Speaker 8: Oh?
- 55:20Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure.
- 55:21Speaker 8: But the thing about Coachman, he's always he's always Coach
- 55:23Speaker 8: Beamer on the few, he's a coach, But off the fields,
- 55:26Speaker 8: he's a really good guy, very very personable. He wants
- 55:29Speaker 8: to be involved within your life, your family life. We're
- 55:32Speaker 8: a really great guy. Cares a lot about easting every
- 55:34Speaker 8: one of us, and that's what we appreciate the most
- 55:35Speaker 8: about him.
- 55:36Speaker 2: What's the hardest position?
- 55:37Speaker 3: Because you have played them all at all twelve positions
- 55:40Speaker 3: and there's.
- 55:40Speaker 2: Only eleven, you know what I mean, That's what it
- 55:41Speaker 2: feels like like you've made up positions? Yeah, for sure.
- 55:44Speaker 3: What's the hardest playbook wise to have to learn as
- 55:47Speaker 3: part of the whole scheme of the offense?
- 55:49Speaker 2: You gotta be quarterback though, right yea yeah, quarterback for sure.
- 55:53Speaker 8: But the good thing about me, I started off there,
- 55:55Speaker 8: so I kind of started off at the highest and
- 55:57Speaker 8: the hardest. Uh, you know, shouldn't play book wise, But
- 56:01Speaker 8: then you know from there on on and it kind
- 56:02Speaker 8: of gets easier. But all the positions kind of tie
- 56:04Speaker 8: into quarterback if you play the wide receiver after you've
- 56:06Speaker 8: already played quarterback, but you kind of know, Like I like,
- 56:10Speaker 8: sometimes I'll be interviewed by people, but since I interview.
- 56:13Speaker 3: All the time, I know what they want exactly. So
- 56:15Speaker 3: if you're a wide receiver, you know, like the little
- 56:18Speaker 3: things eat right.
- 56:19Speaker 2: What the quarterback wants. And that's the beauty of it.
- 56:21Speaker 2: That's why I really enjoy wide receiver.
- 56:24Speaker 8: I'm not playing running back, but wide receiver's definitely cool because,
- 56:26Speaker 8: like you said, like you know what the quarterback wants,
- 56:28Speaker 8: you know what I'm saying, so I've seen it from
- 56:30Speaker 8: both perspectives.
- 56:31Speaker 2: So that's why that was kind of like my edge
- 56:33Speaker 2: playing wide receiver. So you're playing quarterback. Are you playing
- 56:36Speaker 2: running back this year? Yeah?
- 56:37Speaker 3: Did you have to put on more weight since you
- 56:41Speaker 3: kind of in the middle of it more?
- 56:43Speaker 2: I didn't have to, but I did.
- 56:46Speaker 8: I think it was definitely beneficial for me being able
- 56:49Speaker 8: just to take the amount of blows that I'll be
- 56:50Speaker 8: able to take.
- 56:51Speaker 2: My strength.
- 56:52Speaker 8: My scream staff and my interestans have done a great
- 56:54Speaker 8: job of allowing me to you know, be at the
- 56:56Speaker 8: way I'm at now, and I feel prepared, I feel strong,
- 56:59Speaker 8: So I think it was definitely.
- 57:00Speaker 2: Beneficial for me. Did you lose any speed at all?
- 57:03Speaker 2: Not at all? So you gained weight, but you didn't
- 57:05Speaker 2: lose speed. I don't understand.
- 57:07Speaker 8: Screen the condition staff, so you okay, So it.
- 57:10Speaker 7: Might have a lot of the easiest part.
- 57:11Speaker 2: If I have one of those, then I'll gain speed.
- 57:13Speaker 2: And if I gain weight, I promise you God dang
- 57:18Speaker 2: good weight though. Yeah, good weight though. So that way
- 57:20Speaker 2: do you have to eat on a regimen to schedule.
- 57:24Speaker 8: For the most part, But it's really all about what
- 57:26Speaker 8: you eat, high protein foods, not a lot of cars
- 57:30Speaker 8: and stuff like that. But I was able to you know,
- 57:32Speaker 8: I kind of a bounce to both, and while I
- 57:35Speaker 8: train and lift, that kind of adds on, well, will
- 57:37Speaker 8: kind of bounce yourself up.
- 57:39Speaker 3: If you are a quarterback and a wide receiver and
- 57:42Speaker 3: a running back, you've played all the skill positions basically
- 57:45Speaker 3: on offense.
- 57:45Speaker 2: That means at any time in the backfield your in motion.
- 57:49Speaker 3: You're then a wider I mean you're basically a wide
- 57:51Speaker 3: receiver even though you're coming out of the backfield and
- 57:54Speaker 3: I'll say this, NFL wise, pro football wise, like that
- 57:57Speaker 3: is what is wanted in the NFL now because they're
- 58:00Speaker 3: guys that just run the ball up the middle, as
- 58:02Speaker 3: valuable as they are and as strong as they are.
- 58:04Speaker 3: You're seeing now that NFL teams want for one contract
- 58:07Speaker 3: and they're done, but it's the guys who can catch
- 58:09Speaker 3: the ball as well. Do you feel like there's a
- 58:10Speaker 3: real value for longer than this year with what you're doing.
- 58:13Speaker 8: Yeah, I definitely agree with that, especially you see guy
- 58:15Speaker 8: like Deebo, Samuel, Christian McCaffrey, a lot of guys in
- 58:18Speaker 8: the league being able to play a lot of different positions.
- 58:20Speaker 8: B John Robinson came from Texas going to the Falcons.
- 58:23Speaker 8: So definitely my value and the value of playing multiple
- 58:26Speaker 8: positions is definitely being able to do a lot of
- 58:28Speaker 8: different things, being able just to be an asset to
- 58:30Speaker 8: you know, multiple different positions and being able just to
- 58:33Speaker 8: be asset to a team. Definitely an unpredictable You want
- 58:36Speaker 8: to be our predictable guy. You don't want to be
- 58:38Speaker 8: one dimensional, especially not in this league with the defense
- 58:40Speaker 8: is getting a lot of faster.
- 58:42Speaker 2: I mean, you know, a guy super talented now, so TKA.
- 58:45Speaker 4: You're from Charleston, so you're not far from here from
- 58:47Speaker 4: home when you were growing up and you were obviously
- 58:51Speaker 4: such a good athlete, did you know all the other
- 58:54Speaker 4: good athletes in the area and there's a club?
- 58:57Speaker 2: Yeah, I never got invited to that club, Like did
- 58:59Speaker 2: you know them?
- 58:59Speaker 7: And did you like you guys like keep up with
- 59:01Speaker 7: each other?
- 59:01Speaker 2: Man, Yeah, for the most part.
- 59:04Speaker 7: We're not in it.
- 59:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I didn't even know there was like a group
- 59:07Speaker 2: like that, like one text message to all that athletes.
- 59:10Speaker 2: It kind of actually was.
- 59:11Speaker 8: I was blessed enough that a lot of the good
- 59:13Speaker 8: athletes went to my high school, but we had a
- 59:16Speaker 8: lot of different guys also around the city that was
- 59:18Speaker 8: pretty good as well.
- 59:19Speaker 2: So we definitely all supported each other.
- 59:21Speaker 8: Kind of being where I'm from, Nope, Charleston, I'm not
- 59:24Speaker 8: not not the most prettiest place. It's a place that
- 59:26Speaker 8: a lot of guys don't really come out of. So
- 59:28Speaker 8: we definitely use that to our advantage, and you know,
- 59:30Speaker 8: stick with stuck with each other, was able to communicate
- 59:33Speaker 8: with each other, kind of ulift each other throughout that time.
- 59:35Speaker 3: A little upset at that that all the it's again
- 59:38Speaker 3: like all the cool kids have their own place to
- 59:40Speaker 3: hang out and then here I am over there, White
- 59:42Speaker 3: Brandy text message.
- 59:43Speaker 2: Hey, how fast you're on today? How's your protein intake? God,
- 59:48Speaker 2: feelings are hurt.
- 59:49Speaker 3: When you were a kid, was playing college football a
- 59:53Speaker 3: reality to you or did it seem like, man, that's
- 59:56Speaker 3: only what people do on TV?
- 59:57Speaker 8: Yeah, not at all. I kind of I seen it.
- 1:00:00Speaker 8: My dad was like a Florida Gators fan or something
- 1:00:02Speaker 8: like that. But I never thought it was tangible. I mean,
- 1:00:05Speaker 8: it was always a dream, but I never thought I
- 1:00:07Speaker 8: was gonna have the opportunity to actually go play college football.
- 1:00:10Speaker 8: So I didn't really pay pay a lot of attention
- 1:00:12Speaker 8: to it, not inside. I was about fourteen, thirteen years old.
- 1:00:14Speaker 8: Whenever I received my first offer.
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: You got to offer it thirteen fourteen years old, thirteen
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: from here?
- 1:00:19Speaker 4: Wow, wait, hold on, you're gonna hurt his feelings again.
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: Dcare you're thirteen and you got to offer from the
- 1:00:26Speaker 3: University of South Carolina.
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: Steve Spury, I know, I see old, but yeah, definitely.
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: So does that come like a letter in the mail?
- 1:00:33Speaker 6: No?
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: Does he show up at the house.
- 1:00:34Speaker 8: This was an in person thing. I came here off
- 1:00:38Speaker 8: of Bluff Roe where they used to practice. I came
- 1:00:40Speaker 8: to a showcase because they were already kind of recruiting me.
- 1:00:43Speaker 8: And then I came to a seven or seven tournament.
- 1:00:45Speaker 8: I showcased my talents and I was blessed to and
- 1:00:47Speaker 8: he called me on my way on my way home
- 1:00:49Speaker 8: on the bus and offered me a foot rash. I
- 1:00:52Speaker 8: didn't even know what it was at the time.
- 1:00:53Speaker 3: Like at thirteen, i'd have arpit here and you're getting
- 1:00:56Speaker 3: a full bright scholarship.
- 1:00:57Speaker 8: Yeah, I definitely didn't know what it was until my
- 1:00:59Speaker 8: coach explained it to me, and then I realized was
- 1:01:02Speaker 8: gonna have an opportunity to pay for school and get
- 1:01:04Speaker 8: a free education.
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: So then I was you know, all four when.
- 1:01:07Speaker 3: You were in ninth grade, did you play much on
- 1:01:09Speaker 3: the senior high too? How did it work at your
- 1:01:11Speaker 3: high school? So in eighth grade, I played junior varsity
- 1:01:14Speaker 3: junior varsity.
- 1:01:16Speaker 8: My freshman year ninth grade came, I kind of we
- 1:01:19Speaker 8: already had a quarterback that was playing already, so they
- 1:01:23Speaker 8: kind of tried to put me in different positions, but
- 1:01:24Speaker 8: it kind of really wasn't my thing. And then I
- 1:01:27Speaker 8: took over at quarterback towards the end of the year
- 1:01:30Speaker 8: and went on I had a successful career.
- 1:01:32Speaker 9: I end the quarterback. What year my freshman year you played?
- 1:01:36Speaker 9: You started a quarterback your freshman year? Yeah, and then
- 1:01:38Speaker 9: twenty fifteen, I was fifteen years though. We want to
- 1:01:40Speaker 9: stay checking fifteen and oh at Williams Vice Stadium.
- 1:01:42Speaker 7: Story is getting crazy.
- 1:01:43Speaker 3: Where you was just so much faster than everybody. It's
- 1:01:47Speaker 3: like rookie League on Madden, like rookie mode. That's what
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: it feels like. Like I can run, you know, a
- 1:01:53Speaker 3: corner all day long. I know if it's one on one,
- 1:01:56Speaker 3: if there's a single high safety, I know they're a
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: man coverage, I'm about to bust the route.
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: Was that what it was like for you? That easy?
- 1:02:02Speaker 8: I mean it seemed to be My fresh year was
- 1:02:05Speaker 8: kind of difficult. But once I got the hang of it,
- 1:02:06Speaker 8: I was I played quarterback. Everything was kind of It's natural.
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: I mean, I was.
- 1:02:10Speaker 8: Blessed with the abilities to be able to ball like that.
- 1:02:13Speaker 8: I guess I never bought like that.
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: I didn't know. We weren't blessed with that ability at all.
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: DK.
- 1:02:19Speaker 7: What was it like, like, did you come back? I
- 1:02:21Speaker 7: went still one? When when you committed?
- 1:02:23Speaker 4: Did you come back and tell all the girls like, hey,
- 1:02:26Speaker 4: I'm going to South Carolina, Like I'm already said.
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: I didn't even have to tell them. They knew.
- 1:02:29Speaker 8: They kind of already knew. I was blessed for the
- 1:02:32Speaker 8: National Spotlight to be able to you know, everybody kind
- 1:02:35Speaker 8: of paid his interest to it. So I didn't even
- 1:02:36Speaker 8: have to tell them.
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: Who did you decide between? When you did you commit?
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: At thirteen? Nah?
- 1:02:40Speaker 8: So I actually went on to receive fifty two offers
- 1:02:43Speaker 8: from schools all across the country, everywhere I had in mind.
- 1:02:47Speaker 8: But my last two schools was North Carolina Stadium here.
- 1:02:50Speaker 8: So I was battling between.
- 1:02:51Speaker 7: These two schools.
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: That's crazy.
- 1:02:54Speaker 7: Hey, so were you just like King Dinglingon the.
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: Whole way is right now he has been at thirteen? Yeah, yeah,
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: Like I now submit to you. You are my leader.
- 1:03:03Speaker 7: So what is life like like?
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: Seriously, the Internet the whole time, whole life like, tell
- 1:03:10Speaker 3: us about everything, start from the beginning.
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: So you're born, right, They're like, this, baby's awesome.
- 1:03:16Speaker 3: You got a scholarship off r out of the womb spur
- 1:03:18Speaker 3: or some them come out cut the umbilical cord.
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: That's a heck of umbilical cord.
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: We offer him.
- 1:03:23Speaker 7: I see the movie already.
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: Yeah, what is it like being like that dude on campus? Now?
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: I mean it's it's definitely a blessing. Man. I don't
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: even look honestly, I don't even look at it like that. Man.
- 1:03:33Speaker 8: So people come up to me daily, you know, kind
- 1:03:35Speaker 8: of espress their gratitude for me, talking about how much
- 1:03:38Speaker 8: they appreciate me and stuff like that. But I'm a
- 1:03:40Speaker 8: very humble guy. Man, I don't even look at it
- 1:03:41Speaker 8: like that. But I'm like, I guess it's cool being
- 1:03:44Speaker 8: able just to.
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: Have a lot of supporters that I really appreciate. Man.
- 1:03:49Speaker 8: But it's been cool, man, I really appreciate it. I
- 1:03:50Speaker 8: try to take advantage of it, and just your eleven sport.
- 1:03:53Speaker 3: Everyone or like doubles Age fawning over him like a
- 1:03:55Speaker 3: fangirl that show BASEDO baby.
- 1:03:57Speaker 4: Hey when he says taking advantage of like what do
- 1:03:59Speaker 4: you like call the restaurant?
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: Do you get coming in? The table four comident for.
- 1:04:04Speaker 7: This guy all my budd's coming in.
- 1:04:06Speaker 8: I don't want to just I mean to a synth
- 1:04:08Speaker 8: kind of it, yeah, but I do.
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: I can be like, yeah, I'm coming, Yeah, I clear
- 1:04:14Speaker 2: the clubs DK. We need that bootes in the corner
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: we got. It's definitely a blessing.
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: Though.
- 1:04:20Speaker 8: I'm able just to take my family out, get reservation
- 1:04:23Speaker 8: wherever I want, you know, just have a good time.
- 1:04:25Speaker 8: It's definitely a blessing. I'll perk to a since, but
- 1:04:28Speaker 8: I've definitely earned it and I'm blessing that, all right,
- 1:04:31Speaker 8: Final three questions.
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: You talk about family you got You got a new
- 1:04:34Speaker 3: family member about five months old.
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: Now what is it? What is it like being a dad?
- 1:04:38Speaker 8: It's everything. At first, I was definitely scared at first.
- 1:04:41Speaker 8: I think that's a lot of people's first reaction to
- 1:04:43Speaker 8: being this young. But it's been everything. Man, It's been
- 1:04:46Speaker 8: the best thing that ever happened to me. Being able
- 1:04:48Speaker 8: to wake up to my daughter's phase every single day
- 1:04:50Speaker 8: keeps me going. I'm definitely definitely my wife.
- 1:04:53Speaker 7: I'm gonna ask you a personal question.
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: DK was personal?
- 1:04:56Speaker 7: Baby is a real, real personal one.
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: Do you wear a cup? What?
- 1:04:59Speaker 3: What?
- 1:05:00Speaker 8: What?
- 1:05:00Speaker 4: And I'm asking this because my what My nine year
- 1:05:03Speaker 4: old son he's playing football and he's like, he's like,
- 1:05:05Speaker 4: I told him you need to wear a cup, dude,
- 1:05:07Speaker 4: Like when you play football, hands fly everywhere, and he's like,
- 1:05:09Speaker 4: it's uncomfortable.
- 1:05:10Speaker 2: I don't want to wear it. I'm cup. Isn't that
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: like the sixties? Do you wear a cup? I you sue,
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: but I don't eve think they make cups. So yeah,
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: I don't either.
- 1:05:18Speaker 7: Dude, Well I find him a dicks. Dude, they have cups.
- 1:05:20Speaker 2: Still, we don't provide up.
- 1:05:22Speaker 7: So you're like, if a hand comes flying at you,
- 1:05:25Speaker 7: you just got to take it.
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: Wow, that is not good. I don't like it. I
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: don't like even that. It's not don't like the question.
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: I don't like what it's a good question.
- 1:05:33Speaker 6: Hurts. It just hurts.
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: Yeah, that hurts so bad.
- 1:05:36Speaker 7: Yeah, that's why I told my son, like you want
- 1:05:38Speaker 7: a cup.
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: Oh, I'll grab.
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: If I was a defensive player, he come through, I'll
- 1:05:41Speaker 3: grab a twist. I'm just let you know right now.
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: I'm just let you know it.
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: Now, I wrap it. Tell I'm never playing again. Yeah,
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: I might slide. We're always on the same team. That's
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: the way to make sure, you know. People do grab
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: like like pile pile. I've never got grab.
- 1:05:55Speaker 7: Okay, I wouldn't do that anyway.
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: I was just kidding. Yeah, no way, no chance chance.
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: All right, final question.
- 1:06:02Speaker 3: Here we are, this is your last year, like what
- 1:06:05Speaker 3: what's the goal of your final season at the University
- 1:06:08Speaker 3: of South Carolina.
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean the ultimate goal, it's winning championship.
- 1:06:11Speaker 8: I mean, I know it sounds cliche to say, but
- 1:06:14Speaker 8: all the twos are in front of me, all the
- 1:06:16Speaker 8: twos are in front of my teammates for a lot
- 1:06:18Speaker 8: for us to have the one of the biggest successful years.
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: Of all of our lives.
- 1:06:22Speaker 8: But I know me personally, my personal goal is just
- 1:06:25Speaker 8: to be healthy. Be healthy for all thirteen twelve games
- 1:06:29Speaker 8: they were they were going to have. So I know
- 1:06:30Speaker 8: that whenever I'm healthy and I'm the best version of myself,
- 1:06:33Speaker 8: my team is better, you know what I'm saying. So
- 1:06:35Speaker 8: I'm a good asset to my team. So I just
- 1:06:38Speaker 8: want to be the best version of myself, be healthy
- 1:06:39Speaker 8: so I can help us win games.
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: We appreciate the time. Man, it's awesome. So this hand
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: was going to offer a thirteen.
- 1:06:45Speaker 7: This is this is like, yeah you are all that
- 1:06:47Speaker 7: hold it?
- 1:06:48Speaker 6: Actually, yeah, hold it next all feel.
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: Some time my new hero.
- 1:06:51Speaker 3: Man.
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: This is crazy.
- 1:06:52Speaker 3: Okay, good luck South Colina game Cocks. That's a dude
- 1:06:55Speaker 3: right here. Thank you guys.
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: Okay, that's it.
- 1:07:01Speaker 3: This is first episode of season two of twenty five
- 1:07:03Speaker 3: whistles where our plan is to only do twenty five episodes,
- 1:07:07Speaker 3: but we're going to do more than that.
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: I don't know what the plan last year wasn't we
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: were supposed to do twenty five. How many did we
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: do last year? Seventy seventy something? Yeah, we were close
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: to eighty.
- 1:07:21Speaker 5: I know we for sure got to sixty nine.
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: That I do know. I remember that. So if for
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: in the mood, we just do another episode.
- 1:07:27Speaker 3: Yeah, we're only contracted to do twenty five whistles, and
- 1:07:31Speaker 3: that's we blow at the end of the show.
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: That's what I like about you, dude. You know, like
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: you agree to something and you're just like, eh, we'll
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: do more than that. Me, I'm like, what do we
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: agree to? Twenty five?
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: You got it? We did seventy one.
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: That's awesome.
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:07:45Speaker 3: I want people to know if they work with me,
- 1:07:47Speaker 3: they're going to get as much as I can possibly give.
