• 0:04
Speaker 1: Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone. I am Andrew
• 0:07
Speaker 1: Zimmel filling in for Craig Way and Cameron Parker as
• 0:10
Speaker 1: they travel to the city of sin Las Vegas, Nevada,
• 0:15
Speaker 1: as the Texas Longhorns open up their men's basketball season
• 0:19
Speaker 1: tonight right here on thirteen hundred Zone and on Kvett
• 0:23
Speaker 1: ninety eight one, as they open up the season against
• 0:26
Speaker 1: the Ohio State buck Guys. Little sec versus Big Ten
• 0:32
Speaker 1: basketball action for you. That's gonna be a great one.
• 0:35
Speaker 1: University of Texas always finds a way to play some
• 0:38
Speaker 1: of the most premier programs in the country. But we
• 0:42
Speaker 1: have a ton to go over in today's show. Head
• 0:46
Speaker 1: coach Stieve Sarkisian had his Monday morning press conference. We
• 0:49
Speaker 1: will get to that. We have clips to play for
• 0:52
Speaker 1: you later in the show from that Inconceivable in our
• 0:55
Speaker 1: number one. You know, there's crazy stuff that happened up
• 0:58
Speaker 1: over the weekend. And of course the man whose name
• 1:02
Speaker 1: is on the show, Craig Way, Yes, he will be
• 1:04
Speaker 1: joining the program. It to seventeen to seventeen. Craigway joins
• 1:10
Speaker 1: the program to preview Texas men's basketball happening later tonight,
• 1:14
Speaker 1: and then of course, I know we're going to talk
• 1:15
Speaker 1: about the Texas by week, going into a game against
• 1:17
Speaker 1: Florida this weekend, all of that. So it's a jam
• 1:21
Speaker 1: pack Monday show. But for us, of course, we have
• 1:24
Speaker 1: to start by sending the table breaking news coming out
• 1:27
Speaker 1: of today, and that is, according to Ian Rappaport, Dak
• 1:31
Speaker 1: Prescott on the ir with a hurt hamstring. Here's Ian
• 1:35
  Speaker 1: Rappaport earlier today.
• 1:36
Speaker 2: Dak Prescott, the Cowboys starting quarterback, is expected to miss
• 1:40
Speaker 2: multiple weeks with a hamstring injured that he suffered on Sunday.
• 1:45
Speaker 2: Seemed to be a routine pass to the sideline. Dak
• 1:48
Speaker 2: kind of pulled up. You could tell immediately something was
• 1:51
Speaker 2: not right. He ended up watching the rest of the
• 1:53
Speaker 2: game from the sideline pretty quickly ruled out. Had an
• 1:56
Speaker 2: MRI earlier this morning to reveal the diagnosis again, multiple weeks.
• 2:01
Speaker 2: This is not expected to be a short term deal
• 2:04
Speaker 2: for Dak Prescott. In fact, there is still a chance
• 2:07
Speaker 2: that he ends up on injured reserves.
• 2:09
Speaker 1: If things couldn't get worse for the Dallas Cowboys, they
• 2:13
Speaker 1: just got a whole lot worse now. Kooper Rosh didn't
• 2:16
Speaker 1: do bad yesterday in relief for Dakota Prescott. But our
• 2:21
Speaker 1: Cowboys fans have said since the beginning of the season, Okay,
• 2:25
Speaker 1: do we want to have Dak on a one year
• 2:27
Speaker 1: dealer or do you want to give him a long
• 2:28
Speaker 1: term deal? Well, Jerry Jones and the Jones family decided
• 2:30
Speaker 1: to give dak Prescott that long term deal, give him
• 2:33
Speaker 1: a little bit more security, give the franchise a little
• 2:36
Speaker 1: bit more security. Okay, we know who our franchise quarterback is.
• 2:39
Speaker 1: We know who will be under center for us this season.
• 2:44
Speaker 1: Not so fast, So dak Prescott torn hamstring. Potentially, according
• 2:50
Speaker 1: to the MRI, he might end up on the IR
• 2:53
Speaker 1: And this is really where the entirety of the Cowboys
• 2:57
Speaker 1: House of Cards starts to collapse. If you remember or
• 3:00
Speaker 1: last season, the Cowboys decided to make a not a
• 3:03
Speaker 1: blockbuster move in ways that you know is lining people
• 3:07
Speaker 1: around the corner. It's more of a blockbuster move as
• 3:10
Speaker 1: in the old rental store, because that's what a lot
• 3:12
Speaker 1: of people felt that the exact same excitement for it.
• 3:15
Speaker 1: When they traded a pick for Trey Lance from the
• 3:19
Speaker 1: San Francisco forty nine ers. If you remember Kyle Shanahan
• 3:22
Speaker 1: of the forty nine ers were excited they traded up
• 3:23
Speaker 1: to get Lance out of North Dakota State top five pick.
• 3:27
Speaker 1: Doesn't seem to be working out in the Bay Area.
• 3:29
Speaker 1: Let's come to Dallas. We'll see what's happening over here. Yeah,
• 3:32
Speaker 1: he's not even on the depth chart as a number
• 3:34
Speaker 1: two quarterback. That's still Cooper Rush. So Rush looks to
• 3:38
Speaker 1: be the guy who is going to be in the
• 3:40
Speaker 1: driver's seat and will be the starting quarterback this Sunday
• 3:44
Speaker 1: when the when the Cowboys take on the Philadelphia Eagles.
• 3:48
Speaker 1: I would be very concerned if I was a Cowboys fan.
• 3:51
Speaker 1: I would be very concerned if I was a Cowboys
• 3:53
Speaker 1: fan who bet the over on their total wins, because
• 3:55
Speaker 1: this is one of those type of moves that people
• 3:59
Speaker 1: were already saying Cowboys should be sellers at the trade deadline.
• 4:04
Speaker 1: This would make all of the sense of the world
• 4:06
Speaker 1: to me. If the Cowboys decide to clean shop, whether
• 4:08
Speaker 1: that be get rid of Mike McCarthy, whether that be
• 4:10
Speaker 1: trade Cede Lammer, Michael Parsons at the deadline to a
• 4:13
Speaker 1: contending team, maybe bring back a couple more picks. Whatever
• 4:17
Speaker 1: happens from this point on, the Cowboys season kind of
• 4:21
Speaker 1: feels like it's over before it even started. And other
• 4:24
Speaker 1: news coming out of the NFL, the New Orleans Saints
• 4:27
Speaker 1: decided to get rid of their head coach, Dennis Allen.
• 4:30
Speaker 1: A little bit of a tidbit here, Dennis Allen was
• 4:32
Speaker 1: the or was a coach for the Raiders when yeah,
• 4:38
Speaker 1: Derek Carr was over there, So now Derek Carr potentially
• 4:40
Speaker 1: gets his gets Dennis Allen fired again, this time in
• 4:44
Speaker 1: New Orleans, and former All Pro wide receiver Michael Thomas,
• 4:48
Speaker 1: who is not the biggest fan of Derek Carr online
• 4:53
Speaker 1: yesterday but again an entire tweet thread about how this
• 4:57
Speaker 1: was his problem. This was a Derek Carr issue, not
• 5:02
Speaker 1: a Dennis Allen issue. But again, the Saints in a
• 5:05
Speaker 1: similar position as the Dallas Cowboys, looking to potentially clean house,
• 5:10
Speaker 1: whether that be get rid of Derek Carr, whether that
• 5:13
Speaker 1: be now getting rid of their head coach. Either way,
• 5:16
Speaker 1: two teams that a lot of people had high expectations
• 5:19
Speaker 1: and high hopes for this season, both completely crashing and
• 5:22
Speaker 1: burning before we even hit the trade deadline. Speaking of
• 5:27
Speaker 1: tough outcomes, we got to start here with the Texas
• 5:32
Speaker 1: A and m fighting Agies over the weekend. The Aggies
• 5:34
Speaker 1: a top ten team in the country making all the
• 5:37
Speaker 1: type of jokes in the world about how they were
• 5:39
Speaker 1: at the top of the SEC, that this is what
• 5:41
Speaker 1: you know fans were expecting. And you got to give
• 5:44
Speaker 1: a tip of the cap to Mike Elko. I did
• 5:47
Speaker 1: not think the hire was going to be as good
• 5:49
Speaker 1: as it was, and he has proven to be a
• 5:51
Speaker 1: very good coach for Texas A and M. However, a
• 5:56
Speaker 1: good coach can coach their teammate at home, a great
• 5:58
Speaker 1: coach can bring that show on the road. And Texas
• 6:02
Speaker 1: A and M completely left their offense in the locker
• 6:04
Speaker 1: room in the second half end up losing forty four
• 6:07
Speaker 1: to twenty to the game Cocks. They rush the field,
• 6:11
Speaker 1: the fans storm the field, and any time you're a
• 6:14
Speaker 1: top ten team in the country, and especially in the
• 6:16
Speaker 1: SEC where you're looking at you know, maybe two, three,
• 6:19
Speaker 1: four potential teams getting in the playoffs, when you get
• 6:22
Speaker 1: the field stormed on you as the visiting team, that
• 6:25
Speaker 1: doesn't feel good. That never feels great. We just went
• 6:29
Speaker 1: over some of the projections earlier today about what teams
• 6:34
Speaker 1: might end up in the college football playoffs. It's a
• 6:38
Speaker 1: unanimous number one team. It's the Oregon Ducks, who beat
• 6:42
Speaker 1: the defended champions on their field. They go to the
• 6:45
Speaker 1: Big House, they win big thirty eight to seventeen against
• 6:49
Speaker 1: the Michigan Wolverines on Saturday, and Oregon is now your
• 6:53
Speaker 1: unanimous number one team in the country, which is a
• 6:57
Speaker 1: head scratcher to me because the only reason I say
• 7:00
Speaker 1: this is because before the season, I think most people
• 7:03
Speaker 1: were pointing their finger at the SEC to have the
• 7:05
Speaker 1: most teams in the playoffs. Now it's looking more and
• 7:09
Speaker 1: more because the SEC, like a lot of us projected,
• 7:12
Speaker 1: was going to cannibalize itself. It's looking now that the
• 7:16
Speaker 1: Big Ten potentially could get the most teams in the
• 7:19
Speaker 1: college football playoffs. We will know more tomorrow. Yeah, it's
• 7:23
Speaker 1: Election Day. But also what's going to take up your
• 7:25
Speaker 1: Twitter feeds, it's going to take up your social media
• 7:27
Speaker 1: feed is fan bases foaming at the mouth as the
• 7:31
Speaker 1: first college football playoff rankings come out tomorrow night. That's correct,
• 7:36
Speaker 1: tomorrow night. Now, right now, the Texas Longhorns and the
• 7:40
Speaker 1: eight people number five. All the projections according to CBS
• 7:44
Speaker 1: to other places are pointing to the Longhorns being again
• 7:47
Speaker 1: right around that number five, sixth spot, Top four teams
• 7:50
Speaker 1: get that by. The Longhorns want to be the SEC champion,
• 7:55
Speaker 1: if not only to get that by, but also you know,
• 7:58
Speaker 1: first year in the SEC eight, you know, feeling pretty
• 8:00
Speaker 1: good after a playoff appearance last year. There's a lot
• 8:03
Speaker 1: of moment hum going for Texas. It starts though one
• 8:07
Speaker 1: or you gotta go one to know this week against
• 8:09
Speaker 1: the Florida Gators, who are gonna be out without their
• 8:12
Speaker 1: starting quarterback. Even without the starting quarterback, this is a
• 8:15
Speaker 1: team that is very heavy on the defensive side of
• 8:19
Speaker 1: the ball. They held the Georgia Bulldogs to thirty four
• 8:22
Speaker 1: points a couple of garbage shutdowns in the back end
• 8:25
Speaker 1: of it. It was a tight game throughout. At halftime
• 8:28
Speaker 1: it was thirteen to six Florida. That's right. So I
• 8:33
Speaker 1: go out and say this, if Florida plays defense as
• 8:36
Speaker 1: well as they did on that Saturday, this Saturday Ian Austin,
• 8:41
Speaker 1: it is going to be a grinded out type of game.
• 8:45
Speaker 1: We're gonna talk to Craig Way coming up after the break.
• 8:47
Speaker 1: His names on the show will give a preview of
• 8:50
Speaker 1: Texas men's basketball tonight right here on thirteen hundred Zone
• 8:54
Speaker 1: and on KVE ninety eight one as they take on
• 8:56
Speaker 1: the Ohio State buck Guys Craig Way up after the
• 8:59
Speaker 1: break next on sports Radio AM thirteen hundred Zone on
• 9:03
Speaker 1: the free iHeartRadio app
