- 0:00Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to Rayo Eye's Turner Story Hour. As
- 0:04Speaker 1: a reminder, Rayo Eye is a reading service intended for
- 0:07Speaker 1: people who are blind or have other disabilities that make
- 0:10Speaker 1: it difficult to read printed material. Today we will be
- 0:14Speaker 1: reading from various books on the character Pinkalicious. Your reader
- 0:19Speaker 1: today is Diane. Our first story is Pinkalicious, Message in
- 0:25Speaker 1: a Bottle. And it was published by Harper and imprint
- 0:28Speaker 1: of HarperCollins Publishers. It has a copyright year of 2022.
- 0:35Speaker 1: And the author is Victoria Kan. Molly and I were
- 0:40Speaker 1: building the sandcastle at the beach. Suddenly I saw something
- 0:44Speaker 1: shimmer under the sand. I spy buried treasure, I said.
- 0:49Speaker 1: Let's dig for it, Molly said. I shoveled and Molly scooped.
- 0:53Speaker 1: I got it, Molly said at last. It's a bottle.
- 0:57Speaker 1: That's not just any bottle, I said. It's a message
- 1:01Speaker 1: in a bottle. I've read about them. People used to
- 1:04Speaker 1: throw bottles into the ocean to send messages. Wow, Molly said.
- 1:09Speaker 1: I can't believe we found one. Let's read the message,
- 1:13Speaker 1: I said. The top is stuck, Molly said. I yanked
- 1:17Speaker 1: and tugged. Suddenly the top popped off. I flew backward
- 1:21Speaker 1: into the sand. Got it, I said with a giggle.
- 1:25Speaker 1: We carefully unrolled the paper. I read the message out loud.
- 1:28Speaker 1: The prize goes to the one who knows where Little
- 1:31Speaker 1: Rose grows. It's a riddle, Molly said. We studied the
- 1:37Speaker 1: note together. If we find Little Rose, it will lead
- 1:40Speaker 1: us to a prize, I said. We have to solve
- 1:44Speaker 1: the mystery. I spot our first clue, Molly said. She
- 1:49Speaker 1: pointed to the back of the paper. There was a
- 1:51Speaker 1: picture of a rose. Next to the rose were the words,
- 1:54Speaker 1: marks the spot in Pinkville. That must mean we're looking
- 1:57Speaker 1: for a rose that's little and pink, I said. The
- 2:01Speaker 1: next day, Molly and I met at the garden in
- 2:03Speaker 1: Pinkville Park. The pink detectives are on the case, I said.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Let's look for clues. We searched high and low. I
- 2:13Speaker 1: see something, I exclaimed. These pink roses are just like
- 2:16Speaker 1: the drawing in our notes. Plus, they're little, Molly said.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Case closed, I said. We went over to the gardener.
- 2:25Speaker 1: We're here for the prize, I said. The gardener looked confused.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Your prize, she repeated. Oh, you must mean our prize peonies.
- 2:36Speaker 1: They're over here. Our mission is complete, I said. Then
- 2:40Speaker 1: I looked at the peonies. A flower, I asked. Is
- 2:44Speaker 1: that our prize? We showed the gardener our note. We
- 2:48Speaker 1: found your message in a bottle, I explained. I didn't
- 2:51Speaker 1: write that, she said, but I do love the stationery.
- 2:55Speaker 1: A dead end, Molly said. Maybe not, I said. Maybe
- 3:00Speaker 1: we can find a clue at the stationery shop. Hooray,
- 3:03Speaker 1: Molly said. The pink detectives are on the case. Can
- 3:08Speaker 1: you tell us something about the stationery, I asked the shopkeeper.
- 3:12Speaker 1: It's interesting, he said. The paper curls at the edges
- 3:16Speaker 1: and the ink is fading. This was written a long
- 3:19Speaker 1: time ago. IF THIS NOTE IS REALLY OLD, THE PRICE
- 3:22Speaker 1: IS PROBABLY GONE, I SAID. THIS CASE IS UNSOLVABLE. MOLLY
- 3:28Speaker 1: AND I TOOK A LONG WALK HOME. I GUESS WE'LL
- 3:30Speaker 1: NEVER FIND WHERE THE PINK ROSE GROWS, MOLLY SAID SADLY.
- 3:35Speaker 1: SUDDENLY I STOPPED SHORT. I LOOKED THROUGH MY BINOCULARS AT
- 3:39Speaker 1: A COTTAGE BY THE SEA. I SPY PINK A PERFECT ROSES,
- 3:43Speaker 1: I SAID. WE HURRIED OVER TO THE COTTAGE. IT WAS
- 3:46Speaker 1: ROSETASTIC AND I SPOTTED SOMETHING. What's this, I asked. Oh,
- 3:52Speaker 1: my pinkness, I gasped. I can't believe it, Molly said.
- 3:56Speaker 1: It's the rose from the message. We had to find
- 3:59Speaker 1: out more, I said. Time to investigate. In the back
- 4:03Speaker 1: of the house, we found a girl in the garden. Hi,
- 4:06Speaker 1: I'm Lily, she said. We showed Lily the message. Did
- 4:10Speaker 1: you write this, Molly asked. I didn't, Lily said. Not
- 4:14Speaker 1: another did, and I said... Then I heard someone say,
- 4:19Speaker 1: oh my, it's my bottle, said a woman. You sent
- 4:24Speaker 1: this message, I asked. Yes, 60 years ago, she said.
- 4:29Speaker 1: I'm Rose, she told us. I grew up in this
- 4:32Speaker 1: house and I loved riddles as a kid. One day
- 4:35Speaker 1: I wrote a riddle. I threw it out to sea
- 4:37Speaker 1: in a bottle. I couldn't wait to see who would
- 4:39Speaker 1: find it and solve my riddle. But no one ever
- 4:43Speaker 1: did until now. We found the bottle buried at Pinkville Beach,
- 4:48Speaker 1: Molly said. The waves must have washed it back to shore,
- 4:51Speaker 1: Rose said. I can't believe it's been buried right here
- 4:54Speaker 1: in Pinkville all along. I thought about Rose's note. I
- 4:59Speaker 1: solved the riddle, I exclaimed. Little Rose isn't a flower
- 5:03Speaker 1: after all. It's you, your little Rose, and you grew
- 5:08Speaker 1: up here. That's correct, Rose said, though I'm not so
- 5:12Speaker 1: little anymore. This is pink amazing, I said. Speaking of pink,
- 5:17Speaker 1: Rose said. She went inside and brought out two oyster shells.
- 5:22Speaker 1: You solved my riddle, she said. You both deserve your prize.
- 5:27Speaker 1: We opened our shells. Inside were perfect pink pearls. Thank you,
- 5:32Speaker 1: I said to Rose. Now I have something for you, too.
- 5:35Speaker 1: A riddle? What is the best ship in the world,
- 5:39Speaker 1: I asked. Hmm, Rose said. That would have to be friendship.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Our next story is titled Pinklicious Fashion Fun, and it
- 5:50Speaker 1: was published by Harper and imprinted HarperCollins Publishers. It has
- 5:55Speaker 1: a copyright year of 2016. The author of the book
- 5:59Speaker 1: is Victoria Kan. Rose and Molly come over to play.
- 6:03Speaker 1: Molly was holding a mysterious folder. What is in there,
- 6:08Speaker 1: I asked. They're pictures of designer clothing and fashion shows
- 6:12Speaker 1: that I've collected from magazines, Molly explained. Those are beautiful outfits,
- 6:18Speaker 1: Rose said. I want dresses like that, I said. Mommy
- 6:22Speaker 1: has dressed like the one in that picture. Let's look
- 6:24Speaker 1: in her closet, I said. We can have our own
- 6:28Speaker 1: fashion show. Just then, Mommy came in. What are you doing,
- 6:32Speaker 1: Mommy asked. My clothes are not for playtime. We're fashion designers,
- 6:38Speaker 1: I said. Please use your imaginations, not my clothing, said Mommy.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Imaginary clothes, said Rose. Please play in your room, not
- 6:49Speaker 1: my closet, said Mommy. We looked at the pictures again.
- 6:53Speaker 1: I like those shoes with bows, I said. The bows
- 6:57Speaker 1: look like pasta, said Molly. I have an idea, I said.
- 7:02Speaker 1: We need glue, I said. Let's get twist ties, said Rose.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Don't forget glitter, said Molly. What are you doing, asked Peter.
- 7:12Speaker 1: Can I do it too? I thought about it. You
- 7:15Speaker 1: can be a photographer, I said. Yes, he yelled. Say
- 7:19Speaker 1: cupcake and smile. The doorbell rang. My friends' mothers were
- 7:24Speaker 1: here to pick them up. Have a seat, said Mommy.
- 7:27Speaker 1: The girls have a surprise for you. Are you ready,
- 7:31Speaker 1: asked my friends. It's showtime. Welcome to our fashion show,
- 7:35Speaker 1: Rose said as we paraded into the living room. We
- 7:39Speaker 1: use things around the house to make our clothes, I added.
- 7:43Speaker 1: Look at my newspaper and coffee filter pants, said Molly.
- 7:47Speaker 1: The flowers on my vest are cupcake liners, said Rose.
- 7:51Speaker 1: My dress is made from bubble wrap, I said. Click
- 7:56Speaker 1: went to Peter's camera. Bravo, Rose's mom said. cheered show
- 8:03Speaker 1: off your outfits and twirl we twirled faster and faster
- 8:07Speaker 1: paper ribbons and cupcake liners went flying peter got closer
- 8:12Speaker 1: and closer trying to get the perfect picture pop pop
- 8:16Speaker 1: pop pop my dress was ruined i almost started crying
- 8:21Speaker 1: but then i heard clapping marvelous molly's mommy said you
- 8:26Speaker 1: made a dress that can be worn two different ways
- 8:29Speaker 1: And now we can see your sparkly macaroni shoes. If
- 8:33Speaker 1: you stick with it, she said, you'll have a career
- 8:36Speaker 1: in fashion. I love how you use food in your designs.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Oh yes, I said, I was inspired. I smiled and
- 8:44Speaker 1: grabbed my sketchbook and I had an idea, a cupcake dress.
- 8:48Speaker 1: I wonder if I could use real frosting. Our next
- 8:53Speaker 1: book is called Pinkalicious, The Royal Tea Party. It was
- 8:57Speaker 1: published by Harper and Imprinted. of HarperCollins Publishers. It has
- 9:01Speaker 1: a copyright year of 2014. The author of the book
- 9:05Speaker 1: is Victoria Kan. Go Delicious is the best unicorn ever.
- 9:09Speaker 1: I want everyone to know it. You should throw her
- 9:12Speaker 1: a party, Peter said. That gave me a great idea. Listen, Goaty,
- 9:18Speaker 1: I said. Goaty is her nickname. I'm going to crown
- 9:20Speaker 1: you Princess Go Delicious. There was a lot to do
- 9:24Speaker 1: to get ready for the coronation. Can I do something,
- 9:28Speaker 1: Peter asked. Sorry, Peter, I said. This party is only
- 9:31Speaker 1: for members of the royal court. I thought about what
- 9:35Speaker 1: Peter does the best. Peter likes to eat. Maybe you
- 9:38Speaker 1: could be the royal taster, I said. That means you
- 9:42Speaker 1: taste all the food to make sure it's perfect. Great idea,
- 9:45Speaker 1: Peter said. I can't wait to start. I decorated the
- 9:49Speaker 1: backyard with Goatee's favorite color, pink. Then I went inside
- 9:53Speaker 1: and planned the perfect menu. What do you think, Peter?
- 9:57Speaker 1: I asked. Peter had a little sympathetic tea this tastes
- 10:01Speaker 1: okay peter said it's a little boring though don't be
- 10:05Speaker 1: silly i told him it's perfect soon my guests arrive
- 10:09Speaker 1: come in come in i cry you're just in time
- 10:12Speaker 1: to help get goatee ready can i help peter asked
- 10:17Speaker 1: no thanks i said but you can go to the
- 10:19Speaker 1: kitchen and take the food outside. Peter went to the kitchen.
- 10:24Speaker 1: He was in there for a long time. What are
- 10:26Speaker 1: you doing in there? I called. The royal taster's only
- 10:30Speaker 1: supposed to have one taste. I'm just making sure the
- 10:34Speaker 1: food is perfect, Peter replied. I'm coming outside now. Finally,
- 10:39Speaker 1: Goaty was ready. Let the royal tea party begin, I declared.
- 10:44Speaker 1: My friends and I sat down. Goaty had the place
- 10:48Speaker 1: of honor. I noticed that the food looked a little different.
- 10:51Speaker 1: I sipped my tea. Party me a moment, I said
- 10:55Speaker 1: to my guest. Then I dragged Peter away. What should
- 10:59Speaker 1: you do to the tea? I whispered. I made it better,
- 11:03Speaker 1: Peter said. I used all my favorite foods. I put
- 11:06Speaker 1: maple syrup in one teacup. I added peanut butter to another.
- 11:11Speaker 1: I stirred strawberry jam and vanilla yogurt into the other teacups,
- 11:15Speaker 1: Peter continued. As the royal taster, I felt the sandwiches
- 11:19Speaker 1: were tasteless, so I made better ones with ice cream
- 11:22Speaker 1: instead of mayonnaise and go fish crackers instead of tuna fish.
- 11:28Speaker 1: This is a disaster, I cried. I went back to
- 11:32Speaker 1: apologize to my guest. Yum, Molly exclaimed. This sandwich is delicious.
- 11:38Speaker 1: My tea tastes yummy too, Lila added. What's your secret, Pinkalicious?
- 11:44Speaker 1: I tasted my tea again. It tasted like maple syrup. Hmm,
- 11:48Speaker 1: it was good. My friends didn't seem to mind. The
- 11:52Speaker 1: food tasted extra special. Maybe this party wasn't a disaster
- 11:56Speaker 1: after all. Maybe it was a perfect royal tea party.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Let the coronation begin, I said. Godi pranced forward. Godalicious,
- 12:06Speaker 1: you are the smartest, most beautiful unicorn ever. I touched
- 12:10Speaker 1: my wand to Godi's horn. I hereby Royally declare you
- 12:15Speaker 1: Princess Godelicious, I said. Hooray, my friends cheered. I gave
- 12:22Speaker 1: Peter a new hat. Then I touched my wand to
- 12:24Speaker 1: his head. I declare you, Sir Peter, the chef, I said. Hear, hear,
- 12:30Speaker 1: said Peter. Who wants more? Our next book is titled
- 12:36Speaker 1: Pinkalicious Lost in Paris. It was published by Harper and
- 12:40Speaker 1: imprint of HarperCollins Publishers. It has a copyright year of 2024.
- 12:45Speaker 1: The author of the book is Victoria Kahn. We were
- 12:48Speaker 1: on vacation in the most pink, glamorous city in the world, Paris.
- 12:54Speaker 1: How do you say pink in French, I asked. Rose,
- 12:57Speaker 1: Mommy said. Finding a rose-colored souvenir would be pink-a-perfect, I said.
- 13:03Speaker 1: Then I will always remember Paris. What about those souvenirs,
- 13:07Speaker 1: Peter asked. I wanted a closer look, but the cart
- 13:10Speaker 1: was moving fast. When I reached the cart, I picked
- 13:13Speaker 1: up a tiny Eiffel Tower. This is pink adorable, I said.
- 13:18Speaker 1: How much does it cost? Four euros, the saleswoman said. Mommy,
- 13:24Speaker 1: I called out. May I have four euros, please? I
- 13:28Speaker 1: looked around, but I didn't see Mommy. Peter, I yelled. Oh,
- 13:34Speaker 1: I said, I must have gone further than I thought.
- 13:36Speaker 1: Where was my family? They were nowhere to be found.
- 13:41Speaker 1: I was lost in Paris. I was beginning to get
- 13:44Speaker 1: worried when I saw a clothing shop nearby. It was
- 13:47Speaker 1: called Le Boutique Rose. That must mean the pink shop
- 13:50Speaker 1: in French. I love French fashion. Maybe my family was
- 13:55Speaker 1: looking for me in the boutique. Bonjour, I'm Belle, said
- 13:58Speaker 1: the shop owner. I see you have a passion for
- 14:02Speaker 1: pink like me, Belle said. She tied a pink amazing
- 14:05Speaker 1: scarf around my neck. Très chic, Belle said. That means
- 14:10Speaker 1: very stylish. You must keep it as a gift. Thank you. Merci,
- 14:16Speaker 1: I said. I couldn't wait to show Mommy. But where
- 14:19Speaker 1: was Mommy? What's wrong, Belle asked. I can't find my family,
- 14:24Speaker 1: I said. My shop window has a good view of Paris,
- 14:27Speaker 1: Belle said. Maybe you can find them. I climbed into
- 14:31Speaker 1: the window. Look, said a girl standing outside. It's a
- 14:35Speaker 1: live mannequin. Then I spotted something purple in the crowds.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Was it Mommy's dress? I ran after the purple dress,
- 14:44Speaker 1: but when I got closer, my heart sank. It wasn't Mommy.
- 14:48Speaker 1: I sat down on a bench by a bakery. Cheer up,
- 14:51Speaker 1: the baker said. Have a baguette. He handed me a long,
- 14:55Speaker 1: skinny loaf of bread. It gave me an idea. I
- 14:59Speaker 1: stood on a bench and held the loaf up high.
- 15:01Speaker 1: Now my family could spot me in the crowd. My
- 15:04Speaker 1: stomach started to growl. The bread smelled yummy. I took
- 15:08Speaker 1: just one bite, then another. It was so yumtastic that
- 15:12Speaker 1: I ate it all. Oops, I said. How would my
- 15:16Speaker 1: family find me now? I saw a girl with her mom.
- 15:20Speaker 1: I started to cry. I missed my mommy. Bonjour, I'm Elise,
- 15:25Speaker 1: the girl said. Are you okay? I remembered something mommy
- 15:29Speaker 1: taught me. You get lost, ask a mother with a
- 15:32Speaker 1: child for help. I can't find my family, I said.
- 15:36Speaker 1: Where did you last see them? Elise's mom asked. In
- 15:40Speaker 1: line at the Eiffel Tower, I said. That's a good
- 15:43Speaker 1: place to wait for them, Elise's mom said. We'll take
- 15:46Speaker 1: you back there. I went with Elise and her mom
- 15:49Speaker 1: back to the ticket line. Mommy, Daddy, Peter, I shouted. Pinkalicious,
- 15:56Speaker 1: Peter shouted back. We were so worried, Mommy said. I
- 16:01Speaker 1: remember to ask the mother with the child for help,
- 16:03Speaker 1: I said. We're proud of you, Daddy said. Thank you
- 16:07Speaker 1: for your help, Mommy said to Elise and her mom.
- 16:10Speaker 1: You're welcome, Elise's mom said. Would you like to join
- 16:14Speaker 1: us for a picnic in Paris? The sun set as
- 16:20Speaker 1: we ate our French feast. Get ready for a surprise,
- 16:23Speaker 1: Elise said. Suddenly the Eiffel Tower lit up. It sparkled
- 16:27Speaker 1: in the night. Pinka, wow, I said. Elise pulled out
- 16:32Speaker 1: a camera. Say Paris, she said. I love my new souvenir,
- 16:37Speaker 1: I said. And my new friends. Our next set of
- 16:42Speaker 1: books are about the characters Henry and Mudge. And the
- 16:46Speaker 1: first one is titled Puppy Mudge Finds a Friend. It
- 16:51Speaker 1: was published by Simon & Schuster's Books for Young Readers.
- 16:58Speaker 1: which is an imprint of Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing Division.
- 17:03Speaker 1: It has a copyright year of 2004, and the author
- 17:06Speaker 1: is Symphony Ryland. This is Puppy Mudge. He lives with Henry.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Mudge likes it. He likes a lot of things. He
- 17:17Speaker 1: likes chew toys. He likes crackers. He likes to drool.
- 17:23Speaker 1: Mudge drools a lot. Mudge also likes cats. Mudge found
- 17:28Speaker 1: a cat friend. Her name is Fluffy. Mudge and Fluffy play.
- 17:34Speaker 1: Fluffy runs. Mudge runs. Fluffy hides. Mudge hides. Fluffy climbs.
- 17:41Speaker 1: Mudge does not. Fluffy and Mudge play and play. Then
- 17:47Speaker 1: they rest. Fluffy purrs. Mudge snores. Friends. Our next story
- 17:54Speaker 1: is titled Henry and Mudge and the Wild Goose Chase.
- 17:59Speaker 1: And it was published by Simon & Schuster Book for
- 18:03Speaker 1: Young Readers, which is an imprint of Simon & Schuster's
- 18:07Speaker 1: Children's Publishing Division. It has a copyright year of 2003.
- 18:13Speaker 1: And the author of the book is Symphony Ryland. Farm Fresh.
- 18:20Speaker 1: One day, Henry's mother told Henry and Henry's father that
- 18:23Speaker 1: she wanted some farm fresh eggs. Henry imagined a plate
- 18:28Speaker 1: full of farm fresh eggs. Yum, he said. Mudge wagged.
- 18:33Speaker 1: He always wagged at yum. Then Henry's mother said she
- 18:36Speaker 1: wanted some fresh picked blueberries. Yum, yum, said Henry. Mudge
- 18:41Speaker 1: wagged harder. Yum, yum was even better. Then Henry's mother
- 18:46Speaker 1: said she wanted some sweet fresh corn. Yum, yum, yum,
- 18:50Speaker 1: said Henry. Mudge wagged so hard that he knocked a
- 18:54Speaker 1: chair over. Does this mean we're going to a farm?
- 18:57Speaker 1: Henry asked his mother. I hope so, said Henry's dad.
- 19:02Speaker 1: He picked up the chair. One more yum and Mudge
- 19:04Speaker 1: may knock the whole house down. Wow, said Henry. We're
- 19:08Speaker 1: going to a farm, Mudge. Henry could hardly wait. Welcome,
- 19:15Speaker 1: Henry and Mudge and Henry's parents drove to the country.
- 19:18Speaker 1: They passed fields and barns. They passed tractors and haystacks.
- 19:23Speaker 1: And once they had to stop to let a duck
- 19:26Speaker 1: and her children cross the road. Mudge wanted to get
- 19:29Speaker 1: out of the car and kiss the ducks. But Henry
- 19:31Speaker 1: wouldn't let him. No, Mudge, Henry said. No kisses. Mudge
- 19:36Speaker 1: kissed Henry instead. Soon Henry's mother said, there's the sign.
- 19:41Speaker 1: The sign said French's Farm, two miles. Yay, said Henry.
- 19:46Speaker 1: Henry's father drove up to the farmhouse. It was white
- 19:50Speaker 1: and clean and flowery. Look at those big sunflowers, said Henry.
- 19:55Speaker 1: Everything is bigger in the country, said Henry's mother. They
- 19:58Speaker 1: all got out of the car. A woman wearing an
- 20:01Speaker 1: apron came from the house. Welcome, she said. I'm Mrs. French. Mrs.
- 20:06Speaker 1: French was nice. She told Henry he could walk all
- 20:09Speaker 1: around the farm. She said that he could take Mudge.
- 20:13Speaker 1: While they explored, Henry's parents would get eggs and blueberries
- 20:17Speaker 1: and corn and all kinds of other good farm things.
- 20:20Speaker 1: Let's go, Mudge, said Henry. Mudge wagged and off they went.
- 20:25Speaker 1: The chase. Henry and Mudge met a lot of farm animals.
- 20:28Speaker 1: They met a goat that tried to eat Henry's shirt.
- 20:32Speaker 1: They met chickens that pecked Mudge's head. He didn't feel
- 20:36Speaker 1: the pegs. Mudge had a head like concrete. They met
- 20:39Speaker 1: a shy cat and her kittens. They met a sheep.
- 20:43Speaker 1: And then they met a goose. Ooh-oh, said Henry. Honk,
- 20:47Speaker 1: said the goose. Honk, honk, honk. Geese are very grumpy,
- 20:51Speaker 1: Henry told Mudge. Honk, honk, honk. The goose was not
- 20:55Speaker 1: happy to see them. He honked and honked and honked.
- 21:00Speaker 1: Mudge didn't like it. He tried to hide between Henry's legs. Yikes,
- 21:04Speaker 1: said Henry, falling over. The goose honked and Henry and
- 21:07Speaker 1: Mudge all the way back to the farmhouse. They ran inside.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Henry's parents were paying Mrs. French for the bags of
- 21:15Speaker 1: eggs and berries and corn they were taking home. Henry's
- 21:20Speaker 1: father looked at Henry and Mudge. He looked at the
- 21:22Speaker 1: goose honking outside the window. Looks like you've been in
- 21:26Speaker 1: a wild goose chase, he told Henry. Yes, but we
- 21:29Speaker 1: weren't doing the chasing, said Henry. Mudge and the goose
- 21:33Speaker 1: looked at each other through the window. Honk! said the goose.
- 21:37Speaker 1: Mudge looked. Honk, said the goose. Mudge looked. Honk, said
- 21:41Speaker 1: the goose. Bark, said Mudge. The goose jumped three feet
- 21:46Speaker 1: in the air and went running wildly away. You're right, Mom,
- 21:50Speaker 1: Henry said laughing. Everything is bigger in the country, especially
- 21:55Speaker 1: Mudge's bark. Mudge wagged proudly and Henry gave him a
- 22:00Speaker 1: farm fresh kiss. Our next book is Henry Mudge and
- 22:04Speaker 1: Annie's Good Move. Our book was published by Simon &
- 22:12Speaker 1: Schuster's Children Publishing Division. It has a copyright year of 1998.
- 22:18Speaker 1: The author of the book is Cynthia Ryland. Next door,
- 22:24Speaker 1: Henry and Henry's Big Dog Mudge. Always like this is
- 22:27Speaker 1: from Henry's cousin Annie. She was very careful about things.
- 22:32Speaker 1: like her frilly dresses and her shiny shoes. But she
- 22:35Speaker 1: was fun. She liked Henry and she liked Mudge, and
- 22:39Speaker 1: she could throw a mean frisbee. So when Henry's mother
- 22:42Speaker 1: said one day that Annie was moving and that she
- 22:45Speaker 1: was not moving next door to Henry, Henry was thrilled.
- 22:49Speaker 1: We have to help Annie move, Henry told Mudge. You
- 22:52Speaker 1: know how careful she is, Henry said. I bet she'll
- 22:55Speaker 1: be nervous. Henry imagined Annie packing up her things. I
- 22:59Speaker 1: bet she wraps those shiny shoes a million times, Henry
- 23:03Speaker 1: told Mudge. Mudge wagged. And those frilly dresses a zillion times,
- 23:08Speaker 1: said Henry. Mudge wagged again. Her house is probably a
- 23:13Speaker 1: mess right now, said Henry. Mudge wagged and drooled all
- 23:17Speaker 1: over Henry's shoes. But not as much of a mess
- 23:20Speaker 1: as I am, said Henry, looking down. Blotchy. When Henry
- 23:24Speaker 1: and Mudge and Henry's parents got to Annie's house on
- 23:27Speaker 1: moving day, Uncle Ed was carrying boxes and Annie was
- 23:31Speaker 1: breaking out. Hi, Annie, said Henry. You're all blotchy. I know,
- 23:35Speaker 1: said Annie. I break out when I'm nervous. Are you
- 23:38Speaker 1: nervous about leaving friends, asked Henry. Annie nodded. Are you
- 23:43Speaker 1: nervous about changing schools, asked Henry. Annie nodded again. Are
- 23:48Speaker 1: you nervous about all your frilly dresses and shiny shoes
- 23:52Speaker 1: and lace hankies being on that truck, asked Henry. Annie
- 23:56Speaker 1: nodded really hard. Three new blotches came out on her nose. Hmm,
- 24:02Speaker 1: said Henry. Do you know what I do when I
- 24:04Speaker 1: get nervous? What, asked Annie. I crawl under the covers
- 24:08Speaker 1: with much, said Henry. Do you have any covers left? No,
- 24:13Speaker 1: Annie shook her head. They're all in the truck. Hmm,
- 24:17Speaker 1: said Henry. There are some blankets on the back seat
- 24:20Speaker 1: of our car. Do you want to use them? Annie
- 24:23Speaker 1: nodded and smiled. Henry opened the car door and Annie
- 24:26Speaker 1: got under the covers. Mudge wagged and disappeared under the covers, too.
- 24:31Speaker 1: Henry rolled down the windows and closed the door. Goodbye, Blotches,
- 24:36Speaker 1: he called, and he went to help Uncle Ed. The
- 24:39Speaker 1: new house. Annie and Mudge stayed under the covers all
- 24:43Speaker 1: morning long. Henry brought them food. He brought them drinks.
- 24:48Speaker 1: He even brought them a moving man. The moving man
- 24:51Speaker 1: told Annie he would be very careful with their shoes
- 24:54Speaker 1: and dresses and lace hankies. A few of her blotches
- 24:57Speaker 1: went away. When the truck was loaded, everyone drove to
- 25:00Speaker 1: Annie's new house. Next door to Henry's house. Then the
- 25:05Speaker 1: movers started carrying the boxes in. Annie was still under
- 25:08Speaker 1: the covers in the car. Henry peeked inside. She was
- 25:12Speaker 1: sleeping on a lace hanky on Mudge's head. When all
- 25:16Speaker 1: the boxes were unloaded, the movers went away. Then Henry
- 25:19Speaker 1: woke up Annie and everyone went into the new house.
- 25:23Speaker 1: Annie held on to Mudge. And try not to break out.
- 25:27Speaker 1: Before we unpack, said Henry's mother, we have to make
- 25:30Speaker 1: a new house wish. We'll wish for something good for
- 25:33Speaker 1: Annie and Uncle Ed. Something good for them in their
- 25:36Speaker 1: new house. Annie smiled. Great, said Henry. Henry's father lit
- 25:41Speaker 1: a candle. Everyone make a secret wish, he said. Then
- 25:44Speaker 1: Annie will blow out the candle. One by one they wish.
- 25:49Speaker 1: Some wishes were big. Some were small. Some looked like
- 25:52Speaker 1: T-bone steak. but they were all good wishes. Annie blew
- 25:57Speaker 1: out the candle. Welcome home, cousin, said Henry. Welcome home, Annie,
- 26:02Speaker 1: said Henry's parents. Mudge gave Annie a great big kiss,
- 26:06Speaker 1: and all of Annie's blotches went away. Then the next morning,
- 26:11Speaker 1: Henry had breakfast at her house. This concludes the children's
- 26:16Speaker 1: story hour for today. Please join us next time as
